- 0:00Would you love to create a life that you don't want to escape from?
- 0:05I'm Kimberly Boyd, founder of Live Life Fully,
- 0:07and welcome to Candid Coach Conversations.
- 0:09Today I have with me Teresa Anderson,
- 0:13Certified Live Life Fully Coach Hey Teresa,
- 0:16how are you? Doing great.
- 0:18Hi, how are you? Excellent.
- 0:20And you? Yay!
- 0:23Thinking about creating a life that we don't want to escape from.
- 0:28yeah, I want to hear your thoughts about this,
- 0:30what comes up for you when you hear that.
- 0:33And I want to jump right in because I think it's so important.
- 0:35Okay.
- 0:36When we're living
- 0:37life fully, that means we're living a life we don't want to escape from.
- 0:40So yeah, tell us.
- 0:43Absolutely.
- 0:44I think the first thing that comes up for me is
- 0:48The need to identify what do I constantly need a break from?
- 0:52Like, is there something in my life that every time I'm doing it or
- 0:56I'm engaged in it, I immediately feel like,
- 0:59when is this gonna end? I think that would be like a really good pointer towards:
- 1:04am I escaping from this? Right?
- 1:08Or do I desire to escape? And then I think like,
- 1:11where am I actually surviving instead of living?
- 1:15I think
- 1:15Mm.
- 1:16that's another thought that comes to mind.
- 1:17Mm-hmm.
- 1:18Yes. So how does that show up for you?
- 1:20Or how has it shown up for you?
- 1:22And I guess if you were giving advice,
- 1:26How to create a life that you don't want to escape from,
- 1:29what would you share?
- 1:31I think the first thing I would ask is a series of questions.
- 1:34So I would be really curious,
- 1:37To define for the client what feels good about life?
- 1:42What do you really enjoy? Where do your passions lie?
- 1:45Is your life currently built around other people's expectations?
- 1:48Or are you living a life that feels true and authentic to your genuine purpose,
- 1:54or desires, or passions, or dreams?
- 1:57~ or even just on a smaller scale,
- 1:59daily living that feels good to walk out,
- 2:03right? I think I would want
- 2:05to know like is there joy in your life and where is it present?
- 2:10I would be really curious like what routines are in place to support
- 2:14a life that feels well lived instead of feeling exhausted constantly.
- 2:20Mm-hmm.
- 2:22Those are some of the things that come up for me immediately.
- 2:25It's so good and I think it's so interesting because
- 2:29The questions that you're asking and that you would want to know from a person,
- 2:32I don't think people realize how important it is to even know,
- 2:37or they don't even know. Like we don't know what we don't know.
- 2:40That happens
- 2:40Mm-hmm.
- 2:41to me a lot. And so like peeling that off and saying,
- 2:44these are areas in my life where I didn't even realize that I didn't have
- 2:51joy or that I was trying to escape.
- 2:54And I also think like when I think about scrolling or just endlessly watching T V,
- 2:59this is the remote control, like even if you're not watching it,
- 3:02you're just moving through every single channel,
- 3:04like just
- 3:04Mm.
- 3:05stop and pause and say, Wait, is there something I'm escaping from?
- 3:09Is that
- 3:09Absolutely.
- 3:10I think we all do this to some degree too.
- 3:12w we probably do it mindlessly without realizing that we've like turned
- 3:18off our mindset. We're not l making any choices currently and we
- 3:22are literally just operating in gray brain matter,
- 3:25you know.
- 3:25Mm-hmm.
- 3:26Yes. Yeah. So what's the remedy?
- 3:29Like and then think about your own life,
- 3:31if you don't mind sharing. are there areas in your life where you've wanted
- 3:35to create an escape before? And what have you done about that?
- 3:39I feel like I've had to ask myself what needs to change so I actually come home
- 3:43to a life that I love. And so for me,
- 3:46I remember waking up one day and literally putting every single piece
- 3:49of furniture that I had on Facebook Market.
- 3:51And I literally sold it and I didn't have a couch or a table for like two weeks.
- 3:59But I was done with the space and I had enough,
- 4:03I made enough money to purchase things that I actually wanted.
- 4:07And it really was like this wonderful experience of changing out my space
- 4:13and really creating a place that it feels good to be in.
- 4:16It feels good to entertain in.
- 4:18It feels good to come home to.
- 4:20So that I am loving my experience on a daily basis.
- 4:26That was a huge one for me.
- 4:28Okay, I'm so curious. How often have you done that?
- 4:28~ I was so thankful I did that.
- 4:30I do that
- 4:33Like nothing at all.
- 4:35probably once a year.
- 4:37It's
- 4:40kinda she takes the Christmas tree out and
- 4:40But
- 4:42then puts it away and she sells all the furniture and starts fresh.
- 4:46Yes. So that is something that I did do.
- 4:48But ever since doing that and then getting like these little like lighting fixtures
- 4:53and just like these things that kind of romanticize my life,
- 4:56you know, buying the kind of cups and glasses that I wanted to drink out of.
- 4:59doing things that us elevated even my basic everyday experience
- 5:04for me made everyday walking out life feel joyful,
- 5:09feel like it was my own. And so I don't now I'm pretty happy with the way it is.
- 5:13I don't foresee myself
- 5:15Doing that again here in the next year.
- 5:17But I will probably change out blankets or change out glasses or
- 5:21buy more like candles or lighting fixtures,
- 5:24right? I'll probably continue to do things like that.
- 5:27Get I bought one of those like sensey things where you push a button
- 5:31and it smells like a hotel. Like that
- 5:32~
- 5:34was everything for me.
- 5:36Yes. Yes. Does
- 5:38make a difference.
- 5:39Yes. So that
- 5:40is a way that I did it at home.
- 5:42at work.
- 5:43I think with work, I decided I'm in a room all day and my office is rather small.
- 5:48I do have a window, so I always keep the window open and I get to see
- 5:51the birds and look at nature. I'm very aware of outside constantly,
- 5:57just so that I don't feel trapped in the four corners of my office.
- 6:00And then whenever I get
- 6:00Mm-hmm.
- 6:01an opportunity and I see like a co-worker who's out like in the hallway
- 6:05or in the break room, I'll come and see them,
- 6:07say hi, hugs, kisses, I miss you,
- 6:10or I'll walk around and just
- 6:12get some sunlight, some vitamin D,
- 6:14even for like 10-15 minutes. So these are all just like small samples of ways that
- 6:19I make my life feel like I'm living it and I'm choosing how to enjoy it
- 6:25on a daily basis, even when I'm entertaining the mundane,
- 6:28right? Or what could be considered the mundane.
- 6:31Hm. Yeah, tell us more about that,
- 6:32the mundane. Because people
- 6:33The mundane.
- 6:35Ooh. So we I think we all have spaces in our life that
- 6:39Maybe if we wanted to be somewhere else,
- 6:41we there was absolutely somewhere else we would want to be.
- 6:45sometimes that's work, sometimes that's entertaining certain people in
- 6:50our lives or showing up to certain events.
- 6:53You know, sometimes the mundane feels just like the thing that you
- 6:56do because it's it could be connected to your values.
- 7:00Like to me, it's important to go to work,
- 7:02it's important to create a living and be fruitful.
- 7:06And so, of course, I'm gonna show up and I'm gonna.
- 7:08do those things and yet there's moments where it's so rehearsed and it's something
- 7:14I do every day, day in, day out,
- 7:17that it can become a little monotonous.
- 7:19And I think that part of it is the part I have to pay attention to so that
- 7:24I don't feel drained and I don't feel weighed down.
- 7:27I have to decide what do I want to do with the in-between.
- 7:30Do I like I said, do I want to go for a walk?
- 7:33Do I want to try to engage with a coworker?
- 7:35Do I want to make a phone call?
- 7:37do
- 7:37I want to watch something funny.
- 7:39I love watching funny animal videos.
- 7:41It lights up my whole world, you know?
- 7:43So doing things like that, even in those spaces that they are
- 7:48a little bit programmed. They happen every day.
- 7:51You go to work same time, you leave the same time.
- 7:53Maybe it's it's super programmable.
- 7:55So how do I break that up into an experience that feels like I'm still choosing
- 8:01how my day looks?
- 8:03Yeah, it's so good. Like, and asking for me,
- 8:06asking myself, like, what have I tolerated?
- 8:09Which sounds terrible. And what have I tolerated that has now become normal?
- 8:15And is that contributing to a life that I want to live?
- 8:19Is it contributing to a life that I want to escape from?
- 8:21And really getting clear about that.
- 8:23Like, what do I want my life to look like?
- 8:26And what is it going to take to make it look that way and to feel the way
- 8:30I want to feel?
- 8:30But I did. I took a long look at what have I been tolerating.
- 8:35And not that it was bad, nothing,
- 8:37I'm not even saying anything was bad.
- 8:38It's simply I was tolerating things that was limiting my life from living more
- 8:43Mm-hmm.
- 8:44fully.
- 8:44And the example, one quick example is scrolling.
- 8:48And I know we mentioned that already.
- 8:49Like I was tolerating that of myself and then when I c thought about
- 8:53all the hours and I did the math,
- 8:55my word, gross. Like I was giving my life away.
- 9:01Yeah.
- 9:03to a screen. Ugh. So no longer
- 9:04Right. And then even
- 9:06the science behind how bad scrolling is for our brains and how it's
- 9:11the reason dementia is on the rise at much younger ages,
- 9:15they think is all relative to this like dead scrolling that we do.
- 9:19Yeah.
- 9:20But
- 9:21it also scrolling studies are showing that it increases negativity,
- 9:25it contributes significantly to depression and anxiety,
- 9:29and it raises that whole thing about comparison and
- 9:33Mm.
- 9:33I know Brendan talk Brendan Brashard talks about this a lot.
- 9:36Like everything we look at when we're scrolling,
- 9:39we're making decisions. Do I like it?
- 9:42Do I not like it? Do I comment?
- 9:43Do I not comment? But what thoughts am I having?
- 9:45Like every single one. That is a lot of brain power going to sometimes people
- 9:50we don't even know. Or like what?
- 9:53And sometimes people we know that we don't even hang out with on purpose,
- 9:58and yet
- 9:59Mm.
- 9:59we're looking at this stuff.
- 10:01So it is, it's raising that whole comparison piece,
- 10:05which definitely in my opinion,
- 10:07contributes to a life that one would want to escape from because you're
- 10:10in that negativity, that space of ugh.
- 10:14Mm-hmm.
- 10:14Observing instead of actually living.
- 10:17And I think that's the important part of like,
- 10:19where am I overcommitted? Where am I over functioning?
- 10:21Where am I simply over it? You know,
- 10:24maybe it is in the comparison game.
- 10:26Maybe it is. I'm watching other people's lives while my while mine passes by.
- 10:30And so
- 10:33So
- 10:34in thinking about your weeks, what are some things that you do that makes
- 10:39an ordinary usual week feel joyful and more like the life you want to live?
- 10:45How do you set that up for yourself?
- 10:47It
- 10:48depends, right? During the week I have a program schedule.
- 10:50I'm a mom, of course, so I have to live by the school bell.
- 10:53So I'm got morning clients in the morning and then I'm off to sit in
- 10:58the car rider line.
- 11:00I'm
- 11:00writing this down. Live by the school bell.
- 11:02But there's something there. We gotta do something with it.
- 11:04There is something there. ~
- 11:07Cause I do live by the school bell.
- 11:09So I have to get her off in the morning really,
- 11:11really early. And then I have a couple of hours to do some things that I need
- 11:15to do around the house. Then I gotta get into cl to to work and see
- 11:18my clients and I'm there for a few four hours doing that.
- 11:22Then I take that break to go pick her up and go back to that school bell waiting
- 11:25line. And then
- 11:27Yes.
- 11:27I get her home, gotta get her fed at eight,
- 11:30you know, to make sure that she's eaten for the day and eat something myself.
- 11:34And then I'm rushing back to work to do another four hours of clients.
- 11:38And so in those moments on those particular days that are so jam-packed that
- 11:43I have very little time really to,
- 11:45you know, magnify my experience of joy,
- 11:48I have to be really intentional about what does it look like.
- 11:51So when I am in the school writer line,
- 11:53I'm usually reading something that I enjoy,
- 11:55or I'm listening to my favorite jams and having like a little jam session
- 12:00in the car. it depends on my mood.
- 12:02What song I put on? What am I feeling like?
- 12:04Right? And then I'm a big bubbles girl because I had an amazing coach talk
- 12:10to me about childlike wonder a long time ago,
- 12:12and it inspired my world. And so I buy bubbles all the time now,
- 12:17and I keep them. They're either in my car,
- 12:19they're in my garage, they're at my front door.
- 12:21And whenever I get an opportunity,
- 12:23if I have just a moment, maybe I'm rushing in and out it between.
- 12:27I even have bubbles at my office.
- 12:29So when I let a client out, oftentimes
- 12:32if we've had something that we want to celebrate,
- 12:34like something that they actually did well or they finally accomplished some task
- 12:39or behavior modification that they're really excited about,
- 12:42I'll blow bubbles right then and there.
- 12:44And we celebrate for a moment.
- 12:46And so finding these little spaces on those busy,
- 12:49busy days to really consider like how can I lift my soul and lift my spirit,
- 12:55even though I'm in the rat race of the school bell
- 12:58Ha ha.
- 12:59and getting back and forth.
- 13:01To work and getting everyone where they need to be.
- 13:03Now on the weekends, that's gonna look a little different because
- 13:06my weekends are for me. I'm gonna,
- 13:09of course, I have to play Uber Mom.
- 13:10So see these things,
- 13:11Ha ha.
- 13:12we need to we need a list of these things.
- 13:14So Uber Mom and waiting in the school bell line.
- 13:18Living my life by the school bell.
- 13:20These are on the list for sure of things that can easily
- 13:23huh.
- 13:23steal my joy. So I laugh I laugh because I think of a comedian automatically where
- 13:29he's like.
- 13:29Singing, he's like, I gotta pick them up and drop them off and pick them
- 13:31up and drop them off and drop them off and pick them up.
- 13:34And that's basically like the life of an Uber mom,
- 13:35Yeah Yes. Yes.
- 13:37right? And so
- 13:38I can easily get bogged down with that,
- 13:41or I can have conversations with my teenager and teach her about time management
- 13:45as well, and let her know, like,
- 13:46hey, I have a life too, and so I would like for the picking up and dropping
- 13:50off to happen between these hours so that I can get some things done.
- 13:54And so we've had to come to terms on some systems that actually work for
- 13:57me to be able to manage.
- 13:58That and then look at her schedule,
- 14:01look at my schedule, look at my spouse's schedule,
- 14:03and decide okay, what are we gonna do for the weekend?
- 14:05For me, it's gonna involve cooking because I love to feast and create meals
- 14:09for family, and it's gonna involve water for sure.
- 14:14If there is a lake, a river, a pool somewhere nearby,
- 14:17I'm probably gonna take a gander,
- 14:19right? And there's just little moments like that where I'm gonna make sure that
- 14:23I'm feeding or feeding my soul,
- 14:25I think. So that's what.
- 14:27comes to mind for me for now. ~
- 14:30I love it.
- 14:31So good. and I love that you brought up bubbles.
- 14:34I really do think that we as a society underestimate the value of bubbles.
- 14:40I mean, for real. I love that you said celebrating and blowing bubbles with clients.
- 14:45I think I mean, come on. What better
- 14:46Ha ha
- 14:48way? And I also think
- 14:51And I thought about the you ~ living by the school bill.
- 14:54And in that car writer line while you're doing your jam session,
- 14:58I don't know, like blow bubbles out the window because A,
- 15:01people are gonna be like, What is this woman doing?
- 15:04And then eventually they're gonna be like,
- 15:06my gosh, she's blowing bubbles.
- 15:08Like we're going back to that comparison and that judgment piece.
- 15:11And it okay, and and it's gonna happen.
- 15:13Like judgment happens every single day with every single person on the planet.
- 15:16Yeah. It's human. Yeah.
- 15:16So if you
- 15:18can be blowing bubbles out the window for yourself.
- 15:21What?
- 15:22And getting people to like take pause to be like,
- 15:26bubbles. Many people might even think,
- 15:28Gosh, I have not blown bubbles in fifty years And then
- 15:33Right.
- 15:33so I think about one of our retreats that we had,
- 15:37And there was a point we did have bubbles out on the tables and there
- 15:41was a point where people were lined up along the bulkhead here at the lake,
- 15:44standing there blowing bubbles.
- 15:46And then when everybody came back together,
- 15:48several people were talking about the
- 15:50how refreshed and renewed they felt after blowing the bubbles.
- 15:54And it makes so much sense because you have to take a breath in and then
- 15:58if you're blowing to see like how big of a bubble.
- 16:01I mean there's so many ways to blow
- 16:02Mm-hmm.
- 16:03bubbles. I'm so glad you brought up bubbles.
- 16:05my god.
- 16:06I love footballs.
- 16:08Yes, like you can blow and have a whole bunch or you can blow real slow
- 16:12and yes. And it's about the
- 16:13And get a pick one. Yeah. And
- 16:16bubble, but what it's doing internally is bombastically phenomenal.
- 16:21I even like the iridescent, right?
- 16:23Like the color of it. It's almost like magical in this tiny little way.
- 16:28And it's literally a dollar at the dollar store.
- 16:31And here's this like experience that has magic if you allow it to.
- 16:36Yeah.
- 16:39Gosh.
- 16:39Okay, so I think we're gonna have bubbles again at this upcoming retreat.
- 16:43So if you don't want to go to the dollar store,
- 16:45come to the retreat. And
- 16:49Hmm.
- 16:49you'll get to walk away with some bubbles.
- 16:51no, but seriously, like they are magical.
- 16:54I'm so glad you brought up the iridescence of them too.
- 16:57gosh, how joyful.
- 17:00Yeah.
- 17:01I think it there's just magic in the little things.
- 17:04Like at work when I see a hummingbird come and like tap on my window,
- 17:08or I see like the red and the blue birds and they're just flying around,
- 17:11or I start to notice like their little patterns or whatnot.
- 17:15And even that, just slowing my life down enough to pay attention to these beautiful,
- 17:21like little magical moments of nature,
- 17:23it just brings it soothes me. It's very like self-soothing.
- 17:27And when I get home and someone says,
- 17:29Well, how was your day? I'm today was pretty
- 17:31Good. And I'm not even really realizing that I blew bubbles with a client
- 17:36and I saw these beautiful magical birds out the window.
- 17:38Right? Because I'm holding a lot of heavy stuff,
- 17:41and yet there's these little pieces in between that are making it still feel like
- 17:47a good day. And so I think it's really important to find the magic in every day.
- 17:48Yes.
- 17:52Absolutely. ~ and I love that you said that too.
- 17:56I had a thought that popped into my head.
- 18:00talking about noticing the birds,
- 18:01yes.
- 18:02Yeah.
- 18:03Okay, so you and I are both in this aim and hole for program and learning more
- 18:08and more about the brain and getting in touch with ourselves and
- 18:12it's phenomenal and I'm so excited to start sharing that more with more people more
- 18:16details to come
- 18:16Mm-hmm.
- 18:17and but one thing so of course I wake up thankfully I wake up every morning
- 18:23and then I go let the dogs out so I let them out and I get to you know
- 18:26out the door out to the screen through the screened porch thing and I open the
- 18:31Mm-hmm.
- 18:31door and I let them out and I don't stand there I usually go back in
- 18:35and get my water and then then by the time I go to the utility room
- 18:38get the water come back
- 18:39They're ready come in, so I go get it.
- 18:41Okay, all the details that are not necessary.
- 18:43Right, all the things.
- 18:44So thank you for listening. And so
- 18:47I get that little blip of sunlight,
- 18:50depending on the time of year.
- 18:51Sometimes it's still dark outside.
- 18:53All that to say, what I have been very intentional about doing that we're learning
- 18:57in the whole four is you've got to get that sunshine within 30 minutes of waking up.
- 19:02Or if
- 19:03Mm.
- 19:04like me, whenever I first get up,
- 19:05it's
- 19:05still dark outside so getting that 30 I mean when the sun's up to
- 19:10get outside as quickly as possible.
- 19:12Mm-hmm.
- 19:14So I have really been intentional about doing that.
- 19:17As soon as that's and I love watching the sunrise.
- 19:19I usually watch it from inside while I'm doing my journaling or
- 19:23my high performance planner. But I've been stopping
- 19:25Mm-hmm.
- 19:26and getting up and going outside putting my feet on the ground barefoot yes
- 19:31It is a different experience.
- 19:33It
- 19:33is, it's gorgeous. You have some of the best sunsets and sunrises out there too,
- 19:38the way that it comes over the water.
- 19:40And I love that as the sun is rising,
- 19:43you can feel that pressure of the water changing.
- 19:46It's
- 19:46Yeah.
- 19:47it's really magical. So I can imagine that the difference between being outside
- 19:53and being inside, especially over at your property.
- 19:55Yes. my gosh. Yeah.
- 19:57Yeah. Gorgeous.
- 19:59I love it. Thank you. I do love it.
- 20:01And I love that Doctor Amen has talked so much about the sun in the morning,
- 20:07like with in the morning time,
- 20:09getting out there. And it it does.
- 20:11It has definitely created a shift.
- 20:14It's amazing.
- 20:16Mm.
- 20:17Instead of like grabbing for your phone,
- 20:19right? Which is what everybody does.
- 20:20And I get it, our alarms are on our phones,
- 20:22so it's such an easy thing to do.
- 20:24But I mean, be intentional about putting it right back down,
- 20:27going outside, looking at the sun,
- 20:29getting that vitamin D for the first few minutes,
- 20:32drinking a glass of water, really getting centered for your day,
- 20:36how good it is for your brain and for your body.
- 20:38So many times people think that it's these like complex interventions that are
- 20:44Yeah.
- 20:44gonna change your life, and it's so
- 20:46funny how simple it is like diaphragmic breathing and getting outside
- 20:51to see the sun, you know, to bilateral tapping and the calm that that can bring.
- 20:56Some of it is so simple and yet we still don't make time for it.
- 21:02I know. And and
- 21:03talking about diaphragmatic breathing,
- 21:04that is what happens when we're blowing bubbles.
- 21:06Y'all,
- 21:07Is what happens when we're blowing bubbles.
- 21:09~
- 21:10you've got to go get
- 21:11a bottle of bubbles. I'm very excited.
- 21:14Have to, have to.
- 21:16Like I want to start seeing people walking through parking lots before they imagine
- 21:20how much
- 21:21More pleasant. The post office,
- 21:23the grocery store, the dry cleaners.
- 21:26How much more pleasant it would be if people got out of their car
- 21:30and blew bubbles from their car to the door of the establishment.
- 21:34I bet we would see more smiles.
- 21:35It would be fabulous. I think
- 21:39so, because you automatically look up at the sky when you see bubbles.
- 21:42You just see them floating, and it's this magical experience.
- 21:46And most of us experienced the vast majority of bubbles when we were children.
- 21:50So there's an there's a neuropathic experience there that we're leaning into.
- 21:55And that's even more beautiful,
- 21:57that childlike wonder. It's amazing.
- 22:00Yes. And it's definitely part of creating a life you do not want to escape from.
- 22:04Or sure.
- 22:05Absolutely.
- 22:08We build routines around the things that do eventually exhaust us,
- 22:13right? The on the third day of the car rider line and you know,
- 22:18the uber momming and the dinners and the homework and getting into work
- 22:24and doing all the things that we have to do for those spaces as well.
- 22:27It's so easy to feel exhausted or like you're over functioning.
- 22:31And I think that's why we have to commit to the things that support
- 22:35us and center us, especially.
- 22:38Especially on those difficult days.
- 22:40And it might seem like one more thing to do,
- 22:43but if it's one thing that changes your vibration or your frequency for
- 22:47the rest of that day or gains you an hour of peace,
- 22:50it's worth it. It's worth it to put it on the list.
- 22:52it is. my gosh,
- 22:54Yeah.
- 22:56yes it is for sure.
- 22:58And I love that you brought that up.
- 22:59So here lately we're building this building so we can host events inside
- 23:04and not suffocate in the 115 million degree weather.
- 23:08it's been a lot.
- 23:09Like there's a lot to building a building and a lot
- 23:12Mm-hmm.
- 23:12of decision making and color choices and my gosh,
- 23:17ordering new chairs and how cushy do we want I did not know that
- 23:22a question was gonna be how many inches wide do you want the chairs?
- 23:25And I'm like to fit a rear end?
- 23:27I mean I don't
- 23:29measuring people's backsides. I just don't.
- 23:31I didn't even know that was a thing.
- 23:32I thought you just ordered a chair.
- 23:34But y'all, you order these chairs.
- 23:36And you've got 18 inches, you've got 20,
- 23:3822, and 24 inches. Like, let's go with 22.
- 23:42I mean I don't know.
- 23:43Mm.
- 23:44Anyway, so a lot of decision making and
- 23:47I I I started feeling overwhelmed and I was like,
- 23:50I I don't want any more. I don't want any more questions asked of me.
- 23:53I wanted to escape. I did. I was like and I love where I
- 23:55Ha ha.
- 23:56live. This is my this is my this is my vacation home.
- 23:58Yeah. It's your sacred space.
- 24:01Yes.
- 24:01Yeah.
- 24:04like I take vacations just outside.
- 24:06I walk out of my house and I'm on vacation.
- 24:08I I love it here, but I really last week I was like
- 24:12I gotta go. I've gotta run. This is too much.
- 24:15It's it's too much thinking. I've got work.
- 24:17I've got clients. I'm writing a curriculum.
- 24:19I'm planning a retreat. I'm thinking about dishes.
- 24:22How many napkins do we need? What color are we going with?
- 24:24Are we going with silver? Are we going with gold?
- 24:26and the menu. Like what are we gonna serve people to eat?
- 24:29It's like I wanna go. And then I thought,
- 24:31whoa, Kibberly, this is out of hand.
- 24:32You're feeling overwhelmed, which I when I start thinking overwhelmed,
- 24:37I think, okay, I think this is funny.
- 24:40When I feel overwhelmed, then I ask myself,
- 24:42where am I overthinking?
- 24:44Mm.
- 24:45'Cause generally it means I'm overthinking,
- 24:47which I was.
- 24:47Mm-hmm.
- 24:48~ and I it was necessary, and then there were parts that I was thinking about that
- 24:53were not. So I say all of that to say I wanted to escape every single thing that
- 24:58was happening around here and the mess and the stuff and the deliveries.
- 25:02Holy moly.
- 25:04If anybody needs boxes, once I unpack all of this stuff,
- 25:07we will have boxes. Anyway, we'll have a box party.
- 25:11but I really I was like, okay,
- 25:13I gotta get back to the basics.
- 25:15Hm.
- 25:16So when you talked about it doesn't have to be this big massive thing,
- 25:20which me packing up and going to Galveston for a weekend,
- 25:24that would be a massive move at this point.
- 25:26Right.
- 25:27And so the simple things, I was like,
- 25:29okay, I really cannot leave. So
- 25:31Mm.
- 25:32what can I do? And so it was, I have I realized I hadn't lit a candle
- 25:38in two weeks. So
- 25:40Mm.
- 25:41I was like, what am I doing? Candles bring me joy.
- 25:45They can't be the cinnamon roll candles though,
- 25:47because when it's a cinnamon roll candle,
- 25:48I want to eat people's elbows.
- 25:50I get so hungry.
- 25:52Wait.
- 25:53How come I'm starving? it's that smell
- 25:53Ha ha ha.
- 25:55of cinnamon. Anyway, so no cinnamon,
- 25:57Mm.
- 25:58no cookie candles. but I didn't realize I was like,
- 26:00I haven't even lit a candle in two weeks.
- 26:02Okay, number one, I gotta light candle.
- 26:04my gosh, I haven't had an Epsom salt bath.
- 26:06I gotta get an Epsom salt bath.
- 26:08Like these simple things that I had gotten so busy and so overwhelmed with questions
- 26:14and deliveries that I put all these simple things aside.
- 26:17So when I lit the candle,
- 26:17Mm-hmm.
- 26:18I took the Epsom salt bath and I was like
- 26:21And listen to music and go sit.
- 26:23If I didn't want to get in the pool,
- 26:25go sit and put my feet in the pool.
- 26:27I
- 26:28Mm.
- 26:29recentered and I was like, whoa,
- 26:32I'm good to go. I don't want to escape anymore.
- 26:35And I went to the contractor and I'm like,
- 26:36okay, do you have more questions for me?
- 26:38Like, I'm good.
- 26:38Mm-hmm.
- 26:42I love that 'cause it's like reconnecting to the part of yourself that you've
- 26:45put on hold. And we don't
- 26:47Yes.
- 26:47always realize that we've done that.
- 26:49Yeah.
- 26:52And I'm a coach.
- 26:53I work with people on this and I d I I've done it to myself.
- 26:56Yes.
- 26:57It's easy to do. It's so
- 27:00easy to get lost in the the movements and not sit for a moment and ask yourself,
- 27:05What do I really need right now?
- 27:07Or what am I overdoing? You know.
- 27:09Yeah.
- 27:10Yes.
- 27:12So good. Love it. So creating a life you do not want to escape from.
- 27:17So Teresa, for our listeners, like what do you want them,
- 27:20if you had to leave them with something,
- 27:22what do you want to leave them with today?
- 27:25I would say give yourself permission to want something different,
- 27:28even when you ha what you have is already good.
- 27:33I loved that and felt it in my heart.
- 27:36And to follow up on that, go get some bubbles,
- 27:39y'all. You are.
- 27:40Get some bubbles guys. You're missing out.
- 27:43~
- 27:46Spin around
- 27:46God.
- 27:47with it. It's so fabulous. ~
- 27:50Yeah, I don't
- 27:50wanna eat now I wanna even go and get the big wand.
