- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi, it's Adam here and you're about to listen to a hypnosis
- 0:42session all about breaking a habit and I was working with a
- 0:46client that had quite a strong habit.
- 0:50Now I use the word habit rather than addiction because an
- 0:53addiction feels like something is really difficult to break.
- 0:57A habit makes it feel like it's a behavioural change that is
- 1:00more possible Now. This client was a regular user
- 1:04of a particular substance and what became evident in the
- 1:08conversation with the client is that it was a substitute.
- 1:11It wasn't that they really craved and wanted this thing, it
- 1:14was that it was filling a gap in their life and that gap was
- 1:17meaning connection and and other things that gave them a sense of
- 1:22purpose. So this hypnosis session uses a
- 1:26lot of metaphors linked to this idea that when low self worth is
- 1:30there, that's when they felt most need to use this substance.
- 1:35Therefore the opposite would also be true.
- 1:37When they feel worthy and capable and that they have hope
- 1:42for the future, then the whole grip and grasp of this habit
- 1:46would lose its power. So there's a lot going on here.
- 1:49Now, even though the client had a very specific substance, I
- 1:53don't mention it in this session.
- 1:55Partly I wanted to make it generative so that if it ever
- 1:58became something else for the client, this session would also
- 2:00be useful. But in doing so, it also means
- 2:03that it's a very versatile session for you.
- 2:08It might be. Cigarettes, it might be alcohol,
- 2:10it might even be gambling or something else.
- 2:13The habit does not have to be a particular substance.
- 2:18It could just be something that you do.
- 2:20A porn addiction might fall into the the gap as well.
- 2:24So therefore I want you to be very intentional about this
- 2:28session. I want you to think very clearly
- 2:30on what is the habit that you want to break and what
- 2:34substitute is it for? Are you doing something as a way
- 2:38of dealing with procrastination or dealing with boredom or
- 2:41dealing with overwhelm and what you actually want is clarity or?
- 2:45Progress or a? Sense of momentum.
- 2:48Think about those things and then also think what kind of a
- 2:51future do you want if you no longer have this habit in your
- 2:55life? By thinking of those things,
- 2:57you're going to get a lot more value from this session.
- 3:00It was created for an individual.
- 3:01Some of the suggestions are very, very specific.
- 3:04So I would say if you are interested in working with me on
- 3:08a one to one basis where I build stuff entirely around you and
- 3:12your situation, there will be a link in the description where
- 3:16you can schedule a completely free consultation call.
- 3:18We'll have a chat over Zoom and it might be that I end up
- 3:21working with you directly. For now though, find a quiet,
- 3:25comfortable place where you won't be disturbed.
- 3:27Relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 3:59you breathe in, breathe in that resourceful feeling of calm and
- 4:04relaxation. And as you exhale, feel that
- 4:12wonderful feeling of relaxation, as if on every outward breath
- 4:21you are letting go, letting go of any feelings of unworthiness,
- 4:31lack of confidence. Just allow it to leave your
- 4:33body. Because certain things need
- 4:38feeding, some habits need justification and fuel.
- 4:48And without that fuel, it's almost like a tree.
- 4:54But without the soil to have the roots, that tree falls down
- 5:00quickly. And I want you to imagine your
- 5:06habit, and it is a habit, not an addiction.
- 5:13Has roots, and these roots are resting in the soil of low self
- 5:23worth. But what if that low self worth
- 5:28was to wash away? The very thing holding this
- 5:35habit together would be lost as you breathe in and breathe out.
- 5:44I want you to imagine a beach. Maybe it's a beach used to go to
- 5:53as a child, or maybe a tropical beach in a far off country, but
- 6:01just imagine keeping your body there as you allow your
- 6:05imagination to float up and away, drifting all the way to
- 6:15that beach as you touch the ground on the soft sand.
- 6:24Imagine wearing whatever clothing is appropriate to be on
- 6:29that beach. And I want you to imagine seeing
- 6:38a tree with its roots exposed and imagine the sand is that
- 6:46low. Self worth and as the waves
- 6:50collide with the sand it washes that low self worth away and
- 6:57then see the tree come crumbling down.
- 7:04I want you to get a sense that what if that's all it takes?
- 7:10A tree that would be impossible to move while it's deep in the
- 7:15sand or the soil. It becomes easy to uproot the
- 7:21moment that it's washed away. I want you to get a feeling that
- 7:31your low self worth is washing away, and that's because you
- 7:39have something important to be doing, something worthy.
- 7:46Because what you need to be doing will help others and
- 7:52therefore it's valuable and you are the one to do it.
- 7:57Which means you are worthy. And worthiness is the opposite
- 8:04of low self worth. And we need to get a feeling
- 8:12that the more worthy you feel, the more the roots holding your
- 8:20habit together are being exposed.
- 8:24But then walk longer and further down the beach and see something
- 8:30strange. I want you to see a huge pit in
- 8:35the sand, and then in front of that pit is a treadmill.
- 8:44And it's you running on the treadmill.
- 8:50And you get the sense then one misstep or if you slow down too
- 8:56much, the treadmill will send you into that deep pit.
- 9:04But you're just about maintaining the pace.
- 9:10And as you look at yourself, I want you to feel empathy and
- 9:14sympathy because it must be exhausting to be constantly on
- 9:24that treadmill, constantly on the brink of falling down.
- 9:34But there is a way out. I want you to imagine seeing
- 9:38that tube almost like a water slide there above the treadmill,
- 9:49but you notice things that you didn't see before.
- 9:55You've seen those climbing walls where there's different colored
- 10:00shapes that people can climb up a wall.
- 10:04I want you to imagine those hand holds and footholds on the
- 10:08inside of that water slide. And these hand holds and
- 10:14footholds, these are actionable steps and goals, things to do to
- 10:23make you feel good. And you didn't see them before,
- 10:28so you assumed it would be trickier to escape through that
- 10:32tunnel than it actually is. And I want you to imagine seeing
- 10:38that version of you reach up and grab one of those things to hold
- 10:46onto. See yourself pulling yourself
- 10:49up. And imagine that version of you
- 10:55now navigating through the tubes, a colourful tunnel that
- 11:02sends you on your way to your future.
- 11:06And as you think about that version of you escaping, imagine
- 11:11finding a comfortable lounger there on the beach, or maybe a
- 11:16hammock. Something relaxing to sink into.
- 11:22And then as you sink into that lounger, hammock, or just a
- 11:29blanket on the beach, allow your body to relax even more as your
- 11:38unconscious mind has a mission for you, something important to
- 11:46vastly improve the quality of your life.
- 11:56And as you settle into that place, they're on the beach,
- 12:02breathing gently and allowing the muscles of your body to
- 12:07relax and loosen, You begin to drift inward into the quiet
- 12:15place where change can happen quickly.
- 12:21Because beneath every habit and beneath every craving, beneath
- 12:30every moment you felt pulled towards that substance, there is
- 12:36something deeper. A longing.
- 12:43A need. The hunger for meaning,
- 12:46connection, and value. And you already know that the
- 12:54habit has been a poor substitute for what you truly desire.
- 13:02And the part of you that uses isn't bad.
- 13:07It isn't even weak. It's simply a part of you that's
- 13:11trying to help with the only tool that it had, numbing pain
- 13:17and filling emptiness, avoiding fears of what may happen.
- 13:24And one fear in particular. What if I'm not enough to build
- 13:31the life I want? But that's just an insecurity.
- 13:37It was never truth, just the echo of old wounds, old
- 13:43environments, old beliefs that were planted in you long before
- 13:49you had a say. And right now, you're stepping
- 13:57into a space where those beliefs start to melt away, just like
- 14:06the sand or the soil around those roots.
- 14:09They loosen, they dissolve, and I want you to imagine now that
- 14:18this habit of yours has hands a grasp, a grip around you.
- 14:28You decide where on your body, but not choking you, but
- 14:32gripping hold of you just tight enough to keep you where you
- 14:37are. And those hands, that grip only
- 14:43feels powerful because of something called the law of
- 14:49familiarity. Because what you know feels
- 14:55safe, even if it's killing you. And the unknown feels
- 15:01frightening even when it's your liberation.
- 15:08But watch what happens now as you imagine those hands again.
- 15:14See how they weaken, see how they loosen, and see how they
- 15:20are only strong when yourself worth is low and your hope feels
- 15:27dim. And watch as your worthiness
- 15:33increases, even slightly. Those hands slip, they lose
- 15:41leverage, and they can't hold you anymore.
- 15:47And it's not because you fight, and it's not because you
- 15:52struggle. It's because you feel aligned
- 15:59with a life that truly matters. And I wonder if there is a
- 16:06belief inside you, something that says you don't deserve a
- 16:11future full of love, meaning or contribution.
- 16:17But that's just the voice of the part of you with low self worth.
- 16:24And when that's winning, you have permission to use.
- 16:30But I want you to introduce a new reality.
- 16:35Your low self worth is not proof, it's a symptom, a side
- 16:41effect, a scar from your past, a reflection of how you were
- 16:47treated, not who you are now. And I want you to feel who you
- 16:56are now is someone with hope, belief, a desire to do something
- 17:03important. And as that becomes clear,
- 17:08something shifts. You begin to realise if other
- 17:15people with scars, mistakes, flaws and fears can create
- 17:20meaningful lives, and so can you.
- 17:24You're not broken and you're not behind.
- 17:31You're not cursed and you're not doomed.
- 17:34You're simply untapped, underestimated, and mainly by
- 17:41yourself. You are not incapable, you're
- 17:46just unfamiliar with what it's like to do something meaningful,
- 17:54to take pride in that, and to improve day by day by day.
- 18:01Nobody's ready for their future. You get ready by pursuing it
- 18:10From now on, every time you feel tempted, there's a voice inside
- 18:17you that says, I don't care, I don't care.
- 18:21A new thought emerges. This is the cheap imitation, a
- 18:28poor quality substitute of what I really want.
- 18:36Because what you really want is purpose, connection,
- 18:42significance. That feeling of giving something
- 18:47valuable to the world. But that substance can't give
- 18:54you that. It can only distract you from
- 18:59noticing the emptiness. But your real future, the one
- 19:06you haven't stepped into yet, that future is waiting.
- 19:18It's waiting for your decision. The moment you decide you're
- 19:26worth more, a lot more than the grasp of that habit collapses.
- 19:36It loses power. It only has the power that you
- 19:41feed it. You feed it with criticism,
- 19:46shame, guilt, frustration. It crows.
- 19:51But when you feed it hope, ideas, excitement, enthusiasm,
- 19:59and you take steps towards that future, it loses all of its
- 20:05power. Just like the roots of that tree
- 20:08without any soil or sand around them.
- 20:13I want if you're no longer trying to escape pain, but that
- 20:18you're actually moving toward purpose as you drift off into
- 20:26that dreamlike sleep there on the beach.
- 20:29I want you to dream about yourself years from now, sitting
- 20:34across from someone who is trapped in the same cycle that
- 20:40you're in the process of breaking today.
- 20:48And maybe that person feels broken, hopeless, lost, or
- 20:54worthless. But just imagine telling them
- 20:58your story, how you used to escape into substance is because
- 21:06you didn't believe you were worthy of something better, and
- 21:12how one day you realize that your future deserved to be more
- 21:19than your past. Imagine telling them what you
- 21:24did and how you did it to avoid the pit.
- 21:30Escape the treadmill, get through the tunnel and out to
- 21:35the other side. And as you speak, you can see
- 21:40from their expressions that they feel hope.
- 21:45You didn't just escape your habit, you transformed it into
- 21:50meaning. Your pain became your path.
- 21:57Your struggle became your service.
- 22:02Your darkness became your contribution.
- 22:09That's just one person. And now imagine multiplying that
- 22:13one person by thousands. You are making a meaningful
- 22:18difference to thousands upon thousands of lives.
- 22:22And when you feel that way, that substance has no power over you
- 22:31at all. Because that future version of
- 22:35you, the one telling that story, feels strong, stable, proud,
- 22:45peaceful, and most of all, worthy.
- 22:51They are worthy and they are confident, and you can see that.
- 22:55And that is your future. I want you to imagine stepping
- 23:02into that version of you. So rather than it being you in
- 23:08the future one day, feel what it would feel like to be that
- 23:13person now. Strong, stable, proud, peaceful,
- 23:18worthy, oozing confidence. Feel it and allow that identity
- 23:26to form within you now. Let it settle into your bones,
- 23:33your breath, your posture, your sense of self.
- 23:41And then in that future, I want you to imagine a big pile of
- 23:47banknotes adding up to 100,000. And there was a time that this
- 23:57would have been fitted away, sniffed, used, consumed.
- 24:07But not now. This 100,000 improves the
- 24:13quality of your life, gives you more security, enables you to do
- 24:18more of what you want to do for you and the people you love
- 24:24most. Maybe it expands something,
- 24:28maybe it helps you grow. But I want you to feel that the
- 24:33future version of you would never dream of spending that
- 24:37money on substances and gratification because of the
- 24:44journey that you've been through to earn it.
- 24:49The world, the universe, your future will test you and reward
- 24:55you when you're ready. As you think about yourself now,
- 25:05in the present, drift back to you.
- 25:08They're on the beach. From this moment forward, you
- 25:12are no longer trying to escape a habit or addiction.
- 25:19I want you to feel that you are making progress toward your
- 25:23future, toward meaning, toward contribution, toward becoming
- 25:31the kind of person who inspires others simply by existing.
- 25:42A person with self worth. A person with choice.
- 25:48A person who is no longer held by the grasp of habit because
- 25:55that habit was never stronger than you.
- 25:59You just hadn't realized it yet. And now you do.
- 26:09As you leave that lounger, blanket or hammock, walk past
- 26:14the treadmill and see that version of you is no longer on
- 26:19the treadmill, you look down into the pit and you're not
- 26:24there either. And you start to wonder how far
- 26:29along that tube, that tunnel, how much progress have you
- 26:34already made? And as you entertain that
- 26:39question, see the tree once more, root showing, having lost
- 26:48all of its power. Just allow yourself to float all
- 26:53the way back to your present, taking a deep breath in through
- 26:59your nose and out through your nose.
- 27:06Wiggle your fingers, wiggle your toes, Connect and calibrate into
- 27:09the here and the now. But it will be a version of you
- 27:14that emerges, oozing worthiness, believing with every fibre of
- 27:21your being you have something valuable, important and
- 27:26essential to do, and more importantly, you are the only
- 27:32one that can do it. You are worthy, you are capable,
- 27:38you are confident. As I now count from 1:00 to
- 27:4310:00 to awaken you starting to count 123 waking up 456, more
- 27:53alert 7-8 open your eyes. Open your eyes 910 Wide awake,
