- 0:18Speaker 1: Team Six, welcome to another episode of For the Dads.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Before we get rolling, I hope your trash is taken out.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Before we get rolling, it is Child Cancer Awareness Month.
- 0:29Speaker 1: And as you guys know, Evie the Brave, a legend
- 0:32Speaker 1: on the show, her father, Dylan Payne, he's reached out
- 0:35Speaker 1: to us because we are partnering with Evie the Brave
- 0:37Speaker 1: because what their family did is help stand up a
- 0:40Speaker 1: foundation called Alex's Lemonade Stand to help raise money to
- 0:46Speaker 1: support fighting childhood cancer. And one thing that we're doing
- 0:50Speaker 1: for the dads here is we made shirts. Gong rips
- 0:54Speaker 1: for Evie the Brave. We will have the link down
- 0:56Speaker 1: in the description in case you want to donate to
- 0:58Speaker 1: the foundation. We will have the, you can go to
- 1:01Speaker 1: BWTB.com and buy these shirts for gone rips. 100% of
- 1:05Speaker 1: net proceeds will be going to Alex's lemonade stand. So again,
- 1:10Speaker 1: that is partnering in support in the fight against childhood cancer.
- 1:13Speaker 1: It is childhood cancer awareness month. If you are a
- 1:15Speaker 1: new listener to for the dads right now, Evie, the brave,
- 1:19Speaker 1: she was two. She was going into a routine doctor's appointment,
- 1:23Speaker 1: a doctor's visit. And it quickly turned into emergency surgery
- 1:26Speaker 1: like the next week because they found a rare cancer,
- 1:30Speaker 1: a tumor right next to her spine that they had
- 1:32Speaker 1: to get it removed immediately. Mom's a badass. Dad's a badass.
- 1:35Speaker 1: They were poised in the A-gap. They fly out to
- 1:37Speaker 1: New York. They get it removed.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Surgery went well. Evie the Brave's hitting the gong. She's
- 1:42Speaker 2: hitting the bong. So she's good.
- 1:45Speaker 1: But what they did from that, again, is stand up
- 1:47Speaker 1: this foundation, Alex's Lemonade Stand, to help fight against childhood cancer.
- 1:51Speaker 3: So.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Again, we're doing a big partnership. It is Childhood Cancer
- 1:55Speaker 1: Awareness Month. Go hit the link.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Go donate. You can buy a shirt.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Again, 100% of net proceeds is going to the foundation
- 2:01Speaker 1: of Alex's Lemonade Stand.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Good morning, fellas. Good morning.
- 2:05Speaker 4: And a big shout-out to Deke working alongside Evie's family.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Evie's family reaching out to Deke, allowing us to come
- 2:14Speaker 4: alongside them. Getting with our merch team. Shout out Alex
- 2:19Speaker 4: and our merch team getting that shirt up on the site.
- 2:22Speaker 4: And shout out to, Deke told me, the 11 Sickos.
- 2:25Speaker 4: They've already bought a shirt.
- 2:27Speaker 2: That's awesome. Already diving in. Yeah. Supporting the cause. Yeah.
- 2:31Speaker 2: I love it, dude. We got a great sewed upon us.
- 2:35Speaker 2: We do. We got some storytelling.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I am going to get back into the choking hazard
- 2:38Speaker 1: because I'm sure my wife's like, hang on a second.
- 2:39Speaker 1: You didn't tell me nothing. You told me about Rue.
- 2:42Speaker 1: maybe drowning, but you didn't even mention Scotty choking on
- 2:46Speaker 1: a meat stick.
- 2:46Speaker 4: There's probably no better way as a mother to find
- 2:51Speaker 4: out about this stuff via a podcast. That might be
- 2:54Speaker 4: the best way to hear about it.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Debatably, yeah.
- 2:58Speaker 4: Yeah, because now we can laugh.
- 3:00Speaker 2: We can sweat it out. We can giggle a little bit.
- 3:04Speaker 2: We can have a good time. She knows that Scotty's
- 3:06Speaker 2: good because she's at home. She's right next to you.
- 3:08Speaker 2: She's great, honey. She's crushing it right now.
- 3:13Speaker 1: But again, if you are new to For the Dad's Pod,
- 3:15Speaker 1: our community, Papa Team 6, it's an awesome community. We
- 3:18Speaker 1: feature a PT Sixers throughout the episode and empty six
- 3:21Speaker 1: or shout out the moms out there. People write in,
- 3:23Speaker 1: they drop comments on our YouTube channel on the sodes.
- 3:25Speaker 1: They drop comments in the Spotify comments. They drop comments
- 3:28Speaker 1: on our social media app for the dad's pod.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Yep.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Right.
- 3:31Speaker 1: And emails for the dad's pod at gmail.com. We do voicemails.
- 3:35Speaker 1: We do with, we love to feature the community on
- 3:37Speaker 1: the show. We get to those. All you have to
- 3:39Speaker 1: do is chime in with a comment anywhere across social
- 3:42Speaker 1: or the podcast that you're watching right now or listening to.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Hopefully we, in the truck, at work, on Spotify, wherever
- 3:47Speaker 1: you get the pod. We love to feature everybody on
- 3:49Speaker 1: the show. We get to that here in a little bit.
- 3:51Speaker 1: We talk wins, losses, dad hacks. We talk about just fatherhood,
- 3:55Speaker 1: being a dad, the highs and lows of it all.
- 3:58Speaker 1: This is the show we do it on. We had
- 4:00Speaker 1: some follow-ups from last week's episode. A couple that gave
- 4:06Speaker 1: me a little chuckle. And this is, dude, this is
- 4:08Speaker 1: shout-out chef because people showed out breakfast burritos happened last weekend.
- 4:12Speaker 2: It was a big fight. It was a long fight.
- 4:14Speaker 1: We got it done. You got it done. And this
- 4:17Speaker 1: one comes from Koda Key. Glad the burritos were delivered.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Great work, chef. Was that the closest.
- 4:22Speaker 2: We've actually kept it under an hour? Laughing emoji. Yeah,
- 4:26Speaker 2: it was a shorter one last week. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:28Speaker 2: It's a speed tour.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Unfortunately, Nachito28 came with some fire towards chef.
- 4:36Speaker 2: I want you to know I do not approve of
- 4:39Speaker 2: this comment. I might approve of it. I have it.
- 4:44Speaker 4: He's strong feeling Will's going to approve of it. Green chili, brother.
- 4:49Speaker 4: You can't have a breakfast burrito without green chili.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Amen, bro. Some type of salsa. An aioli, a salsa,
- 4:58Speaker 2: a hot sauce. Give me something with the burrito. Burritos
- 5:02Speaker 2: were good. No, I agree with that. If I were
- 5:04Speaker 2: going to do it again, I would have two changes.
- 5:06Speaker 2: That's one.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Have sauce in it. I got some kind of sauce.
- 5:09Speaker 3: I wouldn't do an aioli. I'm not a huge mayo guy.
- 5:12Speaker 3: I'll do it with like seafood. But maybe a good salsa.
- 5:15Speaker 3: A good liquid. The pico wasn't enough.
- 5:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Shout out the comment.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Shout out the comment from Nachito.
- 5:21Speaker 2: From Nachito.
- 5:22Speaker 1: This is from Brett Benoit, five. My wonderful wife is
- 5:26Speaker 1: about to pop out our second girl. So we have,
- 5:30Speaker 1: so we have, we will have two angels under two,
- 5:34Speaker 1: which qualifies me to be employed at Bussin. Anyway, she
- 5:38Speaker 1: said after nine months, we should try for another girl.
- 5:40Speaker 2: I said, they don't make those anymore.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Oh, good.
- 5:43Speaker 2: They don't make those anymore. Good.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Dude, I had some of the Trader Joe's dark chocolate almonds.
- 5:51Speaker 1: I was ripping them around in my hand yesterday when
- 5:53Speaker 1: I got home from the shop. I had about four
- 5:55Speaker 1: in my hand and I ate a couple because I
- 5:57Speaker 1: knew once Rue saw me and Scotty saw me, they'd
- 6:00Speaker 1: want one. I popped in the extra two because they
- 6:03Speaker 1: were the last ones through the little container away.
- 6:07Speaker 2: They're like, I want some. I want some. I ate
- 6:09Speaker 2: the last one. She's like, oh, there's more. There's more.
- 6:10Speaker 2: I'm like, They don't make any more, sweetheart. That was it.
- 6:13Speaker 2: How did it work? It worked brilliantly. She stopped talking
- 6:16Speaker 2: and kept doing whatever she was doing. That's exactly what
- 6:19Speaker 2: we're looking for.
- 6:20Speaker 1: That offensive execution from the dad hack last week of
- 6:23Speaker 1: just telling them they don't make them anymore.
- 6:25Speaker 2: I'm going to try this on my wife this week.
- 6:27Speaker 2: I can't wait to try it on my wife. And
- 6:30Speaker 2: clean the garage, honey.
- 6:31Speaker 4: They don't make them anymore. They don't do that. We
- 6:35Speaker 4: have a write-in from Chase. It is a bit longer,
- 6:39Speaker 4: but Chase had some really kind words. works at a
- 6:45Speaker 4: insurance agency that his clients are farmers. So he ensures crops, uh,
- 6:50Speaker 4: worked at that agency with his mom for 18 years.
- 6:54Speaker 4: His mom, unfortunately recently just passed. Uh, but he had
- 6:57Speaker 4: some really kind words about the lesson of the week, uh,
- 7:00Speaker 4: from last week. Uh, he says, sometimes it feels impossible
- 7:03Speaker 4: running the insurance agency, doing lots of manual labor on
- 7:07Speaker 4: my in-laws ranch, where, where we live, had kids at
- 7:11Speaker 4: home with me all summer. no nanny willy one shelf
- 7:14Speaker 4: but i'm jealous and thank god school started again and
- 7:18Speaker 4: now coaching my son's flag football team and i feel
- 7:20Speaker 4: like i'm constantly trying to earn the life that i
- 7:23Speaker 4: have but never feel like i do i'm not sure
- 7:26Speaker 4: if i took uh if i took your message the
- 7:30Speaker 4: intended way but what i took from it is to
- 7:32Speaker 4: stop trying so hard to earn it and being so
- 7:34Speaker 4: hard on myself I need to turn around and appreciate
- 7:37Speaker 4: the family behind me and realize that I have earned it,
- 7:40Speaker 4: which I think is a great, I think that's a
- 7:43Speaker 4: great interpretation. Sorry for the rambling message, but I've been
- 7:47Speaker 4: staring at an Excel spreadsheet for the last eight hours
- 7:50Speaker 4: and I'm delirious. Keep up the great work, boys. Chase
- 7:53Speaker 4: Cunningham from Montana. Side note, I've seen my son's team,
- 7:57Speaker 4: the Pink Mustangs. One boy refused to be the Pink Ponies,
- 8:01Speaker 4: so we compromised. Crushed their first game last week and
- 8:05Speaker 4: can't wait to see how the season goes.
- 8:08Speaker 2: There's the Pink Mustangs. Let's go Pink Mustangs. Shout out Chase, man.
- 8:11Speaker 4: Pink Ponies would have gone great because you already have
- 8:14Speaker 4: your walkouts on.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Pink Pony Club. Thank you for that. Thank you for
- 8:18Speaker 1: that write-in. Thank you for that comment.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Yes, thank you, Chase. Dude, it's always like, what a
- 8:23Speaker 2: shift in perspective. Yeah.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Will ultimately do because... You sit there and you do
- 8:29Speaker 1: feel like the world's on top of you all the
- 8:30Speaker 1: time and you're constantly going, you're constantly grinding, you're constantly
- 8:33Speaker 1: asking yourself, am I doing enough? Am I being better?
- 8:36Speaker 1: I need to just have a better attitude about this more.
- 8:39Speaker 1: And what a good night of sleep when you actually
- 8:41Speaker 1: do lay your head on the pillow between 9 and
- 8:43Speaker 1: 9.30 and think like, all right, I'm not bullshitting. I'm
- 8:46Speaker 1: going to get some good sleep and I'm going to
- 8:48Speaker 1: wake up tomorrow and I'm going to just have a
- 8:50Speaker 1: completely different perspective. for how I go about the day,
- 8:53Speaker 1: how I think about everything, how I think about when
- 8:55Speaker 1: my wife asks for the extra thing or when my
- 8:57Speaker 1: kids are nagging me, how I'm mentally just going to
- 9:00Speaker 1: shift my mind. Dude, we were watching, first time turning on,
- 9:05Speaker 1: it's on Apple TV. Char wanted Rue to watch something
- 9:08Speaker 1: different because she loves Tumble Leaf. She loves Daniel Tiger.
- 9:13Speaker 1: She loves Little Bear. Shout out Little Bear. Shout out
- 9:15Speaker 1: Little Bear. Little Bear fan back in the day. But
- 9:18Speaker 1: we threw on this show called Stillwater. It's a very
- 9:21Speaker 1: slow show. And basically the sensei, the big dog, the
- 9:25Speaker 1: wisdom of the character is this big panda. And it's
- 9:29Speaker 1: all the kids going through something. And he goes and
- 9:32Speaker 1: seeks out the panda, like out in the yard, doing
- 9:35Speaker 1: whatever the panda's doing. And he's wise. And he's very kind.
- 9:39Speaker 1: And he's usually meditating. And the little boy comes over.
- 9:43Speaker 1: And then the panda just tells him a story. And
- 9:45Speaker 1: it's all like perspective-based stuff. So him writing that in,
- 9:48Speaker 1: it just made me think of Stillwater. Great TV show
- 9:51Speaker 1: on Apple TV. Great TV show for kids on Apple
- 9:54Speaker 1: TV because it's slow. It's not all the, you know,
- 9:57Speaker 1: jumping around, doing all the different scenes.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Music, dance.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Yeah, music. Good show. It's all about shifting perspective. And
- 10:03Speaker 2: you sit there, I'm like in captivated. I just need
- 10:07Speaker 2: that show. Scarlett doesn't even need that show. I could
- 10:11Speaker 2: use that. The other day, Jill, go ahead, Chef. No, no,
- 10:15Speaker 2: I don't want to interrupt. Oh, no.
- 10:17Speaker 4: The other day I was in the kitchen and I
- 10:19Speaker 4: was telling Jill a story about tossing Scarlett up in
- 10:22Speaker 4: the air. which is something I've started doing whenever I
- 10:27Speaker 4: drop her off at daycare and pick her up. And
- 10:29Speaker 4: now it's gotten to the point that when I get
- 10:31Speaker 4: outside of daycare, she's expecting it.
- 10:34Speaker 2: And so she starts.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Like smiling and putting her hands up like that because
- 10:37Speaker 4: she's like, dad's about to toss me. And so I'm
- 10:40Speaker 4: very excited to tell Jill about this little tradition I've started.
- 10:44Speaker 4: And Jill just hits me with a very like, you know,
- 10:48Speaker 4: don't toss her, you know, too high. Like you're being
- 10:51Speaker 4: careful about it. Said it was zero tone. And dude,
- 10:54Speaker 4: I got so defensive in that moment. Like complete shutdown
- 10:59Speaker 4: of the like cutesy moment of me telling this story.
- 11:02Speaker 4: I was like, I never throw her. What are you
- 11:04Speaker 4: talking about? You throw her all the time. You always
- 11:07Speaker 4: throw her up in the air. And she was like, whoa, whoa. Like,
- 11:13Speaker 4: And it really is like just looking back on that
- 11:16Speaker 4: moment and like slowing down my thought process and just
- 11:22Speaker 4: being like, dude, why did you get so defensive there?
- 11:25Speaker 2: Like, geez, Louise. Like your wife is just saying like, hey,
- 11:29Speaker 2: you're being careful though, right? Honey, always. It's our daughter. Hey,
- 11:33Speaker 2: no doubt. Yeah, no doubt. You know we have some fun, sweetheart.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Water off the back. Yes, dude. I just... But it's
- 11:41Speaker 2: a perfect example of just- Need to watch some Stillwater.
- 11:43Speaker 2: I do.
- 11:44Speaker 1: And it's one of the, it's like the character, he's
- 11:46Speaker 1: always got like a metaphor, a metaphor, a parable, a story.
- 11:50Speaker 1: He's like, have I ever told you about the story
- 11:52Speaker 1: of so-and-so and so-and-so?
- 11:53Speaker 2: And the kid's like, oh, no.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Or he's like, oh, this is my favorite story. And
- 11:56Speaker 1: then it like, you know, Doug Funny goes into this
- 11:59Speaker 1: narration of another story. I will 1 million percent rip
- 12:02Speaker 1: some Stillwater.
- 12:03Speaker 2: It's a good show. Okay.
- 12:04Speaker 1: It's a good show. But shout out Chase for the write-in.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Now I know my wife's ready to hear about Scottie.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Yeah, what's going on? What happened? Over the weekend.
- 12:13Speaker 1: We went to the Luan's birthday party. They had a
- 12:16Speaker 1: little birthday party for their kids. It was a Pokemon
- 12:18Speaker 1: splash party. She had water slides. You had foam pits.
- 12:22Speaker 1: You had Italian soda machine station. You had photo ops.
- 12:27Speaker 1: She had the, I did this all yesterday on bussing.
- 12:30Speaker 2: What was it? The claw. Yeah. Yeah, the claw.
- 12:34Speaker 1: The little claw thing where you move it around. A
- 12:35Speaker 1: little claw machine. They had puppies there, I guess, in
- 12:38Speaker 1: case you wanted to take one home. Could you take
- 12:41Speaker 1: one home?
- 12:42Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 12:43Speaker 1: There's about six puppies in this pen. And we were
- 12:46Speaker 1: playing with puppies. You could play with puppies. That's so sick.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Like a little petting zoo.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Throwback to bridesmaids, man. That's awesome. The Luan parties get down, bro.
- 12:56Speaker 2: I remember back in the day, whether it's Easter, any
- 12:59Speaker 2: party that they have, you go there. It was like
- 13:01Speaker 2: an Elsa Frozen thing. Disney princesses. This is back in
- 13:04Speaker 2: the day. And there's a horse they're taking in. They
- 13:06Speaker 2: put a little unicorn in. They put a little horn
- 13:09Speaker 2: on it to have a unicorn. Like, they get down.
- 13:12Speaker 2: They get down against parties, bro. Oh, my gosh. But
- 13:16Speaker 2: I'm rocking solo over there. Charles, she hasn't been feeling well.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I'll get into that. We'll get into that. Trust me. Yeah,
- 13:25Speaker 2: we'll get into that. But anyway, I'm seeing my wife.
- 13:32Speaker 1: She's, like, down on Saturday, Wednesday. Michigan just beats Oklahoma.
- 13:39Speaker 1: And I just look over at Charles and I'm like, Hey,
- 13:41Speaker 1: you want me to rip the kid? I'll take the kids.
- 13:42Speaker 1: I'll go to the birthday party. Like you just stay
- 13:44Speaker 1: home and you rest and do your thing. Then I'm
- 13:47Speaker 1: busting her balls. I'm like, yo, I'm jealous of you, bro.
- 13:49Speaker 1: You just, you get to be on the couch while
- 13:51Speaker 1: I'm taking the kids. You get to watch ball. You
- 13:54Speaker 1: get to watch football.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Cause I had all, you know, all the games on
- 13:57Speaker 2: and everything else. Like, I'm going to go and take
- 13:59Speaker 2: care of the kids. You enjoy your time here. And
- 14:01Speaker 2: she's like laughing and like, God, sweet. I'm going to
- 14:03Speaker 2: take a nap.
- 14:04Speaker 1: I'm like, you get to watch football. I know what
- 14:05Speaker 1: you're going to do, bro. But I go over to
- 14:08Speaker 1: the birthday party, and so it's just me, Rue, and Scotty.
- 14:13Speaker 1: And Taylor shot me the invite like a month ago,
- 14:16Speaker 1: a few weeks ago. I didn't read the fine print,
- 14:18Speaker 1: so I got the girls. They're in a dress and
- 14:21Speaker 1: stuff like that. They look sharp. They look good. They
- 14:23Speaker 1: look adorable. And then I get out of the truck,
- 14:26Speaker 1: and I see the water slides up and everything else.
- 14:27Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, shit. I pull out my phone and
- 14:30Speaker 1: check the graphic again for the little digital invite, and
- 14:33Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, it's a splash party. I didn't even
- 14:35Speaker 1: bring their suits. So I go up to Taylan. I'm like, hey,
- 14:39Speaker 1: you guys happen to have like a four-year-old swimsuit. And Taylan,
- 14:42Speaker 1: I hate to ask this, too. Do you happen to
- 14:44Speaker 1: have one for Scotty? Scotty's around 21 months, 22 months.
- 14:48Speaker 1: They rocked him.
- 14:48Speaker 2: They had him. Good.
- 14:50Speaker 1: So I go into the bathroom. I'm changing him up,
- 14:51Speaker 1: getting him ready because, you know, you see the water.
- 14:53Speaker 1: So you see everything going on. They want to be
- 14:55Speaker 1: in the action.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Yeah. Shout out, Taylan. Shout out, Taylan.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Shout out to LeJuan's for hooking it up, hooking the
- 15:01Speaker 1: boy up. Quick little dad loss just to start.
- 15:04Speaker 3: I get out.
- 15:06Speaker 2: My brain goes, of course it's a fucking water party, dude.
- 15:11Speaker 2: And then I'm like, this is on them. They sent
- 15:13Speaker 2: me the invite. You can't send me the invite. You
- 15:15Speaker 2: got to send my wife the invite.
- 15:16Speaker 4: How much water was on that invitation?
- 15:18Speaker 2: I need visuals. Just going in, squinting at it. Splash party.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Damn it. I saw Pokemon, so I knew Scotty was
- 15:24Speaker 2: going to be ready to go. She loves Pikachu. Yeah, yeah.
- 15:27Speaker 2: But anyway, quick little dad loss. We get rolling.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Rory's a little timid to go up the water slide.
- 15:32Speaker 1: So I'm talking to her. Scotty's trying to run around.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Scotty wants to go on the water slide. Water slide's
- 15:36Speaker 1: too big, sweetheart. You can't go on the water slide.
- 15:38Speaker 1: But anyway, kids are having fun. Kids are playing. I
- 15:39Speaker 1: go in and sneak a little ball time. In Taylor's
- 15:42Speaker 1: man cave.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Little man caver. He had the multi-view going on YouTube TV.
- 15:48Speaker 1: We got all the games. Kentucky, Alabama's going at it.
- 15:51Speaker 1: And we're taking a quick break. Rue is playing on
- 15:53Speaker 1: the water slide. She's good to go. I got people
- 15:56Speaker 1: over there like, hey, she's got the friends. There's some
- 16:00Speaker 1: adults over there. So it's all good. I'm going to
- 16:01Speaker 1: go sneak me a little peek at the game.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Because Kentucky Bama's in a barn burn. In
- 16:05Speaker 2: case Charles listened and going, hey, Willie, see what we're
- 16:07Speaker 2: talking about? There's a supervision going on. A lot of
- 16:10Speaker 2: supervision over there. We were all good.
- 16:14Speaker 1: And Scotty wanted to go on the water slide so much.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I'm trying to get her in the foam and everything else,
- 16:18Speaker 1: but she wants to do what Rue's doing. So I'm like, okay,
- 16:20Speaker 1: let's separate her from this area. Let's take her in.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Let's go get her a snack. Let's just get her
- 16:24Speaker 1: locked in while I can sneak some ball.
- 16:26Speaker 2: A little bit. Yeah, yeah. She's eating a meat stick.
- 16:30Speaker 2: I'm feeding her this meat stick. She's got, like, she's good.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Like, I just want people to know, like, she'll have
- 16:34Speaker 1: the meat stick in her hand and she can eat
- 16:35Speaker 1: the meat stick on her own.
- 16:37Speaker 2: She's good at biting and chewing. We've done it plenty
- 16:39Speaker 2: of times. This is routine.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Give her an applesauce first. Now she's got the meat stick.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I'm watching the game. And then all of a sudden
- 16:45Speaker 1: I hear, I hear Scotty start. I'm like, immediately my
- 16:50Speaker 1: eyes get wide enough. Cause I've had PTSD.
- 16:52Speaker 2: If you've listened to four of the dads before, like
- 16:54Speaker 2: Rue had a quarter go down. Yeah. Had a quarter
- 16:57Speaker 2: go down her throat. So the fear, my man, that.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Came into my body, and it wasn't, I do want
- 17:05Speaker 1: my wife to know and I want everybody to know,
- 17:08Speaker 1: I'm exaggerating this story a little bit. Like I'm not
- 17:11Speaker 1: just sitting on the couch watching the game, not caring
- 17:13Speaker 1: what's going on. I'm dialed in with Scotty. Chef was there.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Hopefully he saw some good examples. But I'm not like
- 17:21Speaker 1: taking my eyes off of Scotty. It's just this one
- 17:23Speaker 1: fleeting moment where she takes a bite, she starts, and
- 17:26Speaker 1: I immediately go over her. She was good. She was okay.
- 17:30Speaker 1: She coughs a couple of times. It comes up, she
- 17:31Speaker 1: chews it. I'm like, sweetheart, you have to chew. You cannot.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Taylor saw me.
- 17:35Speaker 2: He's leaned up.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Because once I heard the first cough, I'm like, I
- 17:39Speaker 1: just fly up out of my seat and I'll go
- 17:42Speaker 1: over to her and I'm just kind of looking at
- 17:43Speaker 1: her at first. Like, am I going to need to
- 17:44Speaker 1: give her the Heimlich? Am I going to need to
- 17:46Speaker 1: lay her over the knee and get the pads going?
- 17:49Speaker 1: I saw like my eyes go straight to the meat sick.
- 17:51Speaker 1: I saw she just had a little bite off the
- 17:53Speaker 1: meat sick.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Okay. So it's not a big one.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Everything was all good. She hit a couple coughs. I
- 17:59Speaker 2: see it come back in her mouth. She chews it.
- 18:01Speaker 2: And I'm like, Scotty Jolie, sweetheart, you have got to chew.
- 18:04Speaker 2: You cannot. That is solo. You get that, right? Mom's
- 18:08Speaker 2: at home. If we die, we truly die. Yeah.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Dad, dad, dad.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Dad, dad, dad. I ain't tell Charo that one.
- 18:19Speaker 2: She's hearing that right now for the first time.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 18:22Speaker 2: And sweetheart, as you're listening. Oh, no.
- 18:25Speaker 1: As you're listening, it was truly, it was all good.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Sometimes when you storytell, you got to exaggerate a little bit.
- 18:31Speaker 1: I was kind of on the money with the whole story,
- 18:34Speaker 1: but it was all good. Just a couple coughs.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Can I quickly just lay a blanket on this situation
- 18:41Speaker 2: to also throw my hat in the ring? Charo.
- 18:45Speaker 4: Hope this story makes you feel uh remotely better because
- 18:49Speaker 4: i was handed my daughter um first thing in the
- 18:53Speaker 4: morning i'm still in bed jill has handed uh scarlet
- 18:57Speaker 4: to me jill is then going to the the bathroom
- 19:01Speaker 4: to freshen up i'm fully on scarlet duty i am
- 19:05Speaker 4: fully in charge of scarlet's safety While Jill is in
- 19:08Speaker 4: the bathroom and I start playing peekaboo by throwing my
- 19:13Speaker 4: head into my pillow and then popping it back up.
- 19:17Speaker 4: And Scarlett thinks it's hilarious. And she starts mimicking it.
- 19:22Speaker 4: She's in a big mimicking stage right now. And she's
- 19:26Speaker 4: just fully throwing her body, fully throwing her body, fully
- 19:29Speaker 4: throwing her body into the pillow over and over again.
- 19:32Speaker 4: I go down and dude, as I come back up,
- 19:35Speaker 4: her feet are in the air. and she is flipping
- 19:39Speaker 4: off the side of the bed, hits the side table.
- 19:44Speaker 2: I'm talking oh brother I'm talking full zoom noise and
- 19:50Speaker 2: to where like the lamp kind of shakes and it
- 19:52Speaker 2: kind of flickers like the light flickers you.
- 19:54Speaker 4: Know dramatic I'm then just like fully going to her
- 20:01Speaker 4: to go pick her up. I'm like trying to get
- 20:03Speaker 4: off the bed as well to do it. Bed is
- 20:05Speaker 4: not that high for people listening at home. But like,
- 20:08Speaker 4: I mean, we're talking a good amount of height. So
- 20:13Speaker 4: Jill just comes in to lose her dad standing over
- 20:17Speaker 4: daughter who's now fully just on the ground like this
- 20:21Speaker 4: and is loading up the biggest scream I've ever heard
- 20:24Speaker 4: her do.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Brother, I was.
- 20:28Speaker 4: Jill did not hold it over me like too hard,
- 20:31Speaker 4: but oh man, did I put myself like in a
- 20:34Speaker 4: doghouse in my mind for like the next probably four
- 20:38Speaker 4: to five hours. I've just never like seen her. take
- 20:43Speaker 4: a spill like that. And it was, it was a
- 20:46Speaker 4: see the pain, witness the pain on him. Dude, you
- 20:49Speaker 4: feel so bad. So bad. I, I immediately went outside
- 20:55Speaker 4: to go, Hey, what does Sherman do when he's really
- 20:57Speaker 4: pissed off at himself? He goes and does yard work.
- 21:00Speaker 4: He goes and does yard work. Did it way too.
- 21:04Speaker 4: That's your, that's your way of taking a lap. That's
- 21:06Speaker 4: my way of taking a lap. I didn't do it
- 21:07Speaker 4: until later in the day. Decide to do it way
- 21:11Speaker 4: too late in the day. So then I hit the
- 21:14Speaker 4: cutoff of when you should stop mowing when I'd only
- 21:19Speaker 4: got my backyard done. So my house currently has a
- 21:24Speaker 4: reverse mullet right now. We got a party in the
- 21:27Speaker 4: front and trim in the back, which is maybe the
- 21:29Speaker 4: worst case scenario because the front's what everybody sees.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 21:34Speaker 2: It's a bad beat, man. It was like a triple
- 21:36Speaker 2: dad loss in one. Yeah, I know.
- 21:39Speaker 1: I'm sure a lot of people know that feeling. Like
- 21:42Speaker 1: when Rue was around Scotty's age and we were down
- 21:46Speaker 1: in Florida and it was just me, Charo, and Rue.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Rue's got her bottle and she's on like the edge
- 21:52Speaker 1: of the couch.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:53Speaker 1: She's about to have a bottle before we put her
- 21:55Speaker 1: down for a nap. And she wanted a Bluey book.
- 21:59Speaker 1: That was kind of like a distance where lean and grab.
- 22:03Speaker 1: And bro, she took a tumble. lean over, over leverage herself,
- 22:07Speaker 1: got over the skis, falls, smacks her head on the
- 22:10Speaker 1: edge of the coffee table. Cuts are open blood everywhere.
- 22:14Speaker 1: I'm in the car driving to a Walgreens or CVS
- 22:17Speaker 1: looking for a first aid kit.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Well, in both of us.
- 22:20Speaker 1: It wasn't like one of us was on watch. Like
- 22:22Speaker 1: we were getting either lunch or something ready. Like let's
- 22:25Speaker 1: put Scottie.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Yeah. Give her a bottle.
- 22:27Speaker 1: She saw the bluey book. She wanted the bluey book.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Her legs obviously can't touch the ground. She leans, boom,
- 22:33Speaker 1: smacks it. Cut her open, blood everywhere. And we felt
- 22:38Speaker 1: like shit, dude.
- 22:41Speaker 4: Yeah, what did those next, like, couple hours look like
- 22:45Speaker 4: as far as, like, did y'all have to take her to.
- 22:48Speaker 1: No, we didn't take her anywhere. It's like, we're sitting
- 22:51Speaker 1: there doing, like, research on, like, you know, she was
- 22:53Speaker 1: cut and she was bleeding, but it wasn't like a
- 22:55Speaker 1: stitches moment or anything like that. You talk about, should
- 22:58Speaker 1: we take her in, blah, blah, blah, and both of
- 23:00Speaker 1: us are kind of the same in that regard on
- 23:03Speaker 1: being overreactive and like, Hey, at the end of the day,
- 23:06Speaker 1: like you're going to have to put a couple of butterfly,
- 23:09Speaker 1: butterfly bandages on it.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Yes. That's what I was thinking of. Yeah. Something to
- 23:13Speaker 2: like help close it. Yeah.
- 23:15Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:16Speaker 1: And then you just feel shitty because they're cut. You've
- 23:20Speaker 1: witnessed how bad that they were screaming. They were hurt.
- 23:22Speaker 1: You just feel like a dog shit parent.
- 23:26Speaker 2: It's brutal. It's brutal.
- 23:28Speaker 4: You feel like such a loser for the next couple
- 23:30Speaker 4: of hours. I was just sitting there like, how? I
- 23:34Speaker 4: was just like, oh, poor girl, man. And I was
- 23:37Speaker 4: inches from her. It wasn't like I was on the
- 23:39Speaker 4: other side of the bed.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that's tough.
- 23:41Speaker 4: I was literally within this ruler of how close I
- 23:46Speaker 4: was to my daughter.
- 23:48Speaker 2: And I throw myself into the pillow to then come
- 23:51Speaker 2: out and just see her feet pointing towards the sky
- 23:53Speaker 2: as her body's flipping off the bed. I don't even
- 23:58Speaker 2: know what happened. You know what I'm saying?
- 24:00Speaker 4: Like it's like times stopped, but it also like fast
- 24:03Speaker 4: forwarded at the same moment.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:07Speaker 1: A couple of weeks ago, Scotty was like jumping on
- 24:09Speaker 1: her little cushion chair and we were telling her it
- 24:12Speaker 1: was during pizza Friday and movie night. And we were
- 24:13Speaker 1: telling her, stop jumping. Like you were going to fall.
- 24:16Speaker 1: and hit this, what is it called? Like the little
- 24:19Speaker 1: wall things that got like a lot of creative stuff
- 24:21Speaker 1: on them that you can play with.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Busy board. Oh yeah.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Busy board leaning against like our coffee table.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:27Speaker 1: She was kind of bouncing close to it near and she,
- 24:30Speaker 1: you know, Scottzilla, she's Scottzilla. You can't contain her.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Yeah. And we're just telling her, yo, you're going to
- 24:35Speaker 2: hurt yourself. Stop.
- 24:36Speaker 1: And sitting her down, doing all the things like, hey,
- 24:38Speaker 1: be over here, go lay with dad ass. She wanted to,
- 24:41Speaker 1: she just knew that she was being annoying, being an
- 24:44Speaker 1: annoying little prick.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Yeah. And sure enough, she falls and boom.
- 24:50Speaker 5: Hard.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Hard. Like a lump. You know, you get the... You
- 24:54Speaker 2: get like the... Big old raised lump. Yeah.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Where the blood is... Oh, oh. Blood wasn't coming out.
- 25:01Speaker 2: I know what you mean. But going to where it
- 25:02Speaker 2: was like a little goose egg. Yeah.
- 25:04Speaker 1: We felt bad, but I know a part of me
- 25:06Speaker 1: is like, you have to learn a natural consequence, bro.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Yeah. I felt bad. I was giving her kisses like, hey,
- 25:11Speaker 2: let's put the.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Let's put boo-boo bunny on it where you got a
- 25:16Speaker 1: little icing boo-boo bunny wrapped around it.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Gotta put boo-boo bunny on it. Felt terrible for. And.
- 25:21Speaker 2: But part of me was like, yeah. You had to
- 25:26Speaker 2: taste that.
- 25:26Speaker 4: There's a part of me that's glad that it happened too.
- 25:30Speaker 2: That is a weird feeling of like... Fuck the kids, man. Yeah,
- 25:34Speaker 2: a little bit that too. A little bit. Scarlett's kind
- 25:39Speaker 2: of been looking at me funny. Like, what's going on
- 25:41Speaker 2: with that? Scarlett's balance isn't fully there. Like, Rue, like, she....
- 25:46Speaker 1: All right this is gonna happen you better learn your
- 25:48Speaker 1: lesson yeah then it happened it yourself up.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Man what what are you doing she hit hard oh
- 25:54Speaker 2: she's fine honey she's fine honey she's walking out of
- 25:58Speaker 2: the room holding yeah yeah i was like oh shit
- 26:00Speaker 2: just showing our both kind of like annoyed by he's
- 26:02Speaker 2: like bro just watch the movie relax yeah our bed
- 26:06Speaker 2: height she ate that shit.
- 26:09Speaker 4: Perfect description of our bed height it's couch height Yeah.
- 26:13Speaker 4: Like a sofa height bed. So like that honestly happening
- 26:19Speaker 4: in where our bedroom is carpet. And then we also
- 26:22Speaker 4: have a rug in our bedroom. So she fell on
- 26:27Speaker 4: rug and carpet instead of what is our living room
- 26:32Speaker 4: is just hardwood floor. And so she just last week,
- 26:36Speaker 4: actually I'm cooking by myself.
- 26:39Speaker 2: I'm trying to grill and do like crazy dinner.
- 26:43Speaker 4: To kind of treat Jill as she's coming back from,
- 26:45Speaker 4: she started doing yoga, which is super exciting. And she's
- 26:49Speaker 4: been doing these yoga classes in the evenings. And so
- 26:52Speaker 4: I was like, I'm going to have dinner ready. I'm
- 26:55Speaker 4: going to, you know, crush it. Scarlett's like truly walking
- 26:58Speaker 4: around the house now, which that's crazy.
- 27:00Speaker 2: Crazy, man. Crazy.
- 27:02Speaker 4: And I'm doing dinner with my back to the living room,
- 27:06Speaker 4: but I have Bluey on and some of her favorite
- 27:08Speaker 4: toys are down there.
- 27:09Speaker 2: And she entertains herself. all the time with their toys.
- 27:13Speaker 4: But I just hear da, da, da, like really excited da,
- 27:18Speaker 4: da yelling. And I turn around with all these frying
- 27:21Speaker 4: pans going on. Scarlet's just on our couch, standing up
- 27:25Speaker 4: like towards the back end of the couch. And it's like, I, I,
- 27:29Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, so we learned how to climb the couch.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Perfect. Yeah. Great. Good.
- 27:35Speaker 4: And that was before the bed tumble. And so now
- 27:38Speaker 4: I'm kind of like weirdly happy that the bed tumble
- 27:41Speaker 4: happened because I've now seen her on the couch, like
- 27:47Speaker 4: swing her legs out and make sure her legs come down.
- 27:50Speaker 2: And then she like starts moving around. I'm like, okay.
- 27:53Speaker 2: So she's. She'll eat that shit one day. Oh, for sure.
- 27:58Speaker 2: They love jumping on the couch when they get going.
- 28:00Speaker 2: Oh yeah. Yeah. Big time.
- 28:03Speaker 1: I had to get loud with Scottie the other day
- 28:04Speaker 1: because she started to jump on the couch.
- 28:06Speaker 2: I was like, hey, stop jumping. Get down right now.
- 28:11Speaker 2: What's her face? Does she just get the, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Dude,
- 28:15Speaker 2: she's got the.
- 28:15Speaker 4: She don't take it too personal. She don't take it
- 28:17Speaker 4: too personal yet. She's got the best locked-in face. Sometimes
- 28:21Speaker 4: like a stank face almost that she'll give you.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. And she just wants to do what Rue's doing.
- 28:26Speaker 1: And then I got to tell Rue, hey, Rue, it's
- 28:28Speaker 1: monkey see, monkey do, but she wants to do what
- 28:31Speaker 1: you are doing. I know you can jump on the couch,
- 28:34Speaker 1: but the moment Scotty gets up, it's not like playtime
- 28:36Speaker 1: with Scotty.
- 28:37Speaker 2: She'll fall off. She doesn't have your balance. Easy. But anyway,
- 28:43Speaker 2: at the.
- 28:44Speaker 1: At the party too, a second scare I talked about
- 28:46Speaker 1: alluded to the rude drowning one. I told this one
- 28:49Speaker 1: on Bustin' with the Boys. But as I sit there
- 28:53Speaker 1: and stuff with Scott, he'd say, hey, you want to
- 28:54Speaker 1: go play? Like, I'm trying to be... It's like Rue
- 28:57Speaker 1: wants to play on the water slide. Scotty can't play
- 28:59Speaker 1: on the water slide. I also got to keep Scotty busy.
- 29:01Speaker 1: I don't want to leave Rue by her, you know,
- 29:03Speaker 1: operating by herself for too long, making sure it's happening. Hey,
- 29:06Speaker 1: you having fun over here? You going up the slide?
- 29:08Speaker 1: And she's having fun with her friends and climbing up.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Oh, daddy, watch this. I'm watching her trying to get
- 29:12Speaker 2: a video.
- 29:13Speaker 1: Scotty, let's go keep Scotty busy because right now she's
- 29:15Speaker 1: just walking around in the kind of the mud surrounding
- 29:18Speaker 1: the water slide. She's just wanting to go up. And
- 29:20Speaker 1: I'm like, I got to go keep her busy doing
- 29:23Speaker 1: something with other like Pokemon stuff or whatever it is.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Hey, there's Pikachu. Keep her busy.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Scotty's so about it, dude. So she's like, hey, can
- 29:30Speaker 1: I go swim in the pool? Got to find her goggles. Hey,
- 29:32Speaker 1: I found you some goggles. Put them together.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Here's the goggles. Go rip in the pool. Clumps in
- 29:36Speaker 2: the pool. There's supervision.
- 29:38Speaker 1: I'm standing outside of the pool, so I'm watching. watching
- 29:41Speaker 1: scotty watching rue back and forth back and forth and
- 29:44Speaker 1: then there was a moment to where basically everybody was
- 29:47Speaker 1: kind of out of the pool like clumps sitting at
- 29:48Speaker 1: the edge of the pool or like standing at the
- 29:50Speaker 1: edge of the pool and i see rue she's making
- 29:53Speaker 1: her way toward the middle of the the water and
- 29:55Speaker 1: rue's a pretty good swimmer for four And she, you know,
- 29:58Speaker 1: in our pool, she'll dive down to the bottom. She
- 30:00Speaker 1: can go dive for whatever it is. But our pool
- 30:02Speaker 1: only goes down six feet. Taylor's is nine. She's making
- 30:06Speaker 1: her way out to the middle of the water. And
- 30:08Speaker 1: I can just hear kind of being, it felt like she.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Was already a little exhausted.
- 30:13Speaker 1: So I was just going to tell her like, hey,
- 30:14Speaker 1: swim to the side, like get to the side.
- 30:17Speaker 2: And then she's like, the yellow shark, the yellow shark.
- 30:22Speaker 2: And I just hear her voice kind of like, you know,
- 30:25Speaker 2: she's she's breathing heavy. Yes.
- 30:27Speaker 1: She just goes underwater. And then I'm watching and she's
- 30:31Speaker 1: I see her swimming down to go get this yellow shark.
- 30:34Speaker 1: And again, this is nine feet. So I immediately like
- 30:37Speaker 1: I put the. I put a Scotty squirtle down that
- 30:40Speaker 1: she had just won. I put the Italian soda down.
- 30:43Speaker 1: I started emptying my pockets because I'm thinking she might
- 30:46Speaker 1: not know how deep that is. And even she goes
- 30:48Speaker 1: down to get it, like the urgency she's going to
- 30:49Speaker 1: need to come up to the water. Like she might
- 30:51Speaker 1: be out of breath.
- 30:51Speaker 2: Oh, for sure.
- 30:52Speaker 1: So I'm getting ready to jump in. I see he's
- 30:54Speaker 1: clump circling because he sees me. And I want to
- 30:56Speaker 1: say he was watching Rue too, because Rue is just
- 30:59Speaker 1: in the pool, like by herself. And, um, I'm getting
- 31:04Speaker 1: ready to dive in.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:06Speaker 1: And I'm like, I'm watching Rue and I see her
- 31:08Speaker 1: coming up. And when she comes up, I'm like wanting
- 31:10Speaker 1: to see what her first reaction is. She's like, I
- 31:12Speaker 1: got the yellow shark data. I got the yellow shark.
- 31:14Speaker 1: And I'm like, kind of my shoulders drop. I'm like, bro,
- 31:17Speaker 1: swim to the side. And she's telling, I'm like, yo.
- 31:20Speaker 1: And she's so excited because she got the yellow shark.
- 31:22Speaker 1: And now I'm thinking in my head, like, yeah, that
- 31:24Speaker 1: is badass. You are a badass.
- 31:26Speaker 2: But, bro, like, come on.
- 31:27Speaker 1: I thought you were thinking about. You don't take years
- 31:29Speaker 1: off dad's life. Like, Scotty just almost choked on the
- 31:31Speaker 1: goddamn meat stick. I got almost a second L.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Taylor comes out. He sees it. He's like, you almost
- 31:36Speaker 2: caught two L's. And I'm like. You said that? Yeah.
- 31:40Speaker 1: And then I'm telling Taylor, I'm like, no, the low key,
- 31:41Speaker 1: she kind of bodied that diving down there. Like, it
- 31:45Speaker 1: was impressive.
- 31:45Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 31:46Speaker 2: But, yeah, dude.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Just operating solo, like around a water party for kids
- 31:52Speaker 1: and Scotty, they're just different levels going back and forth.
- 31:54Speaker 1: It was, uh, there was a couple of times where
- 31:56Speaker 1: I'm just, I'm walking chef into the equation. I'm like, chef,
- 31:59Speaker 1: we'll show you how to do this.
- 32:00Speaker 2: Chef, keep an eye on her. Chef, watch this. If
- 32:02Speaker 2: it makes you feel any better.
- 32:04Speaker 3: I thought you did a great job, but I didn't
- 32:06Speaker 3: see the, the choking part or, uh, or the diving in.
- 32:09Speaker 2: Diving in, you would have been impressed. I would have
- 32:11Speaker 2: been very impressed. It was just more of like what
- 32:13Speaker 2: was coming out of my head. I'm like, God damn, bro.
- 32:15Speaker 3: I have a quick funny story. When Will was talking
- 32:18Speaker 3: about sneaking away to watch ball, that was like my
- 32:20Speaker 3: home base. That was me, Matt, and Ryan. We're all 24.
- 32:23Speaker 3: No kids. We found quickly. We said hi, and then
- 32:27Speaker 3: we were like, we need to find a TV. The
- 32:29Speaker 3: ST Sickos were holding it down. ST Sickos were holding
- 32:33Speaker 3: it down.
- 32:33Speaker 2: We were.
- 32:33Speaker 6: We were.
- 32:33Speaker 3: We were breaking bread with Dave LeJuan talking hockey and stuff,
- 32:38Speaker 3: but You know, Oregon's about to lose to Oklahoma State
- 32:41Speaker 3: and they just turn the ball over and I go,
- 32:44Speaker 3: I kind of look up and I don't know why,
- 32:46Speaker 3: but there's a sense of like, I know Will is
- 32:48Speaker 3: taking care of two little girls. He needs to know
- 32:50Speaker 3: that Dan Lanning might get upset in Stillwater. So I
- 32:53Speaker 3: go to see Will and Will's out by the slide.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Rue is not going up the slide yet. And he's
- 32:59Speaker 3: kind of talking her up like, hey, you need to
- 33:01Speaker 3: go up the slide. Funny enough, Scotty is legitimately trying
- 33:03Speaker 3: to crawl out of Will's arms. Like, try to... Will goes,
- 33:07Speaker 3: I know, girl. I know you want to go up there.
- 33:09Speaker 3: You're too young. Like, whispered to her. The tale of
- 33:12Speaker 3: two daughters.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Yeah. Um... because rude's.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Wanting win to go up with her the second time
- 33:18Speaker 1: because rude went up there already and slid down and
- 33:20Speaker 1: she thought it was awesome she's like i need win
- 33:22Speaker 1: i'm like sweetheart you can do.
- 33:23Speaker 2: This there's another four-year-old who was going up and i'm
- 33:25Speaker 2: trying to like second slide yeah.
- 33:27Speaker 1: The second slide i'm just trying to talk to her
- 33:29Speaker 1: i'm like dad i cannot go up the slide i
- 33:31Speaker 1: can't go up that slide with.
- 33:32Speaker 3: You yeah the the best part is i guess this
- 33:35Speaker 3: is like good context i don't have any kids i'm
- 33:38Speaker 3: 24 my brain he goes to okay i mean well
- 33:40Speaker 3: will's going oh that's crazy you know and i go
- 33:42Speaker 3: you know, watch him get rid of the slide. And
- 33:44Speaker 3: I'm thinking, I need to get back and watch this
- 33:46Speaker 3: game for a second. And Will goes, I start kind
- 33:48Speaker 3: of walking, Will goes, no, no, no, no, no. You
- 33:51Speaker 3: need to watch, watch.
- 33:52Speaker 2: We're good. This is a big moment. Word for word.
- 33:58Speaker 3: And then I watched, and then it kind of hit me.
- 33:59Speaker 3: I was like, I should like, you know, like, it's okay.
- 34:02Speaker 3: The game's fine. The game's on. Like it's not the
- 34:03Speaker 3: end of the world.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Yeah. And then I saw that look in his eyes too.
- 34:06Speaker 2: And I did hit him with no, no, no, no, no.
- 34:10Speaker 2: I'm standing out in this 95 degree heat right now.
- 34:12Speaker 2: You're going to stay with me. They don't have Devo
- 34:14Speaker 2: for this kind of shit. All right.
- 34:16Speaker 4: You can rewind the organ game. You can watch that again.
- 34:19Speaker 4: this this only happens once right here that's hilarious.
- 34:23Speaker 2: The other thing was um at the end right as
- 34:26Speaker 2: we're about to leave will hands me a towel like
- 34:29Speaker 2: he's scrambling i think he's trying to get scotty he's
- 34:30Speaker 2: like hey can you give this to ru needs a
- 34:32Speaker 2: towel i go over to ru and ru reminds me
- 34:34Speaker 2: a lot of like she doesn't really know me she
- 34:36Speaker 2: reminds me of like you when i first started working
- 34:39Speaker 2: here as an intern like you you kind of have
- 34:41Speaker 2: a look on your face it's a little like who
- 34:43Speaker 2: is this person a little cagey i go up to
- 34:46Speaker 2: ru and i'm trying to be like really nice and
- 34:47Speaker 2: sweet i go hey ru you're your dad brought uh
- 34:50Speaker 2: wanted me to give you this towel you'll be right
- 34:51Speaker 2: back do you you want it she kind of goes
- 34:54Speaker 2: like that and then i go okay like and i'm
- 34:57Speaker 2: holding out she doesn't reach so she has her arms
- 34:59Speaker 2: like one hand on cake like a birthday cake and
- 35:02Speaker 2: so i kind of like put it right here on the.
- 35:05Speaker 3: Arm and she just kind of like stands it doesn't
- 35:07Speaker 3: move and then eventually i look and i go Yeah,
- 35:09Speaker 3: this is not going to work.
- 35:11Speaker 2: I grab the towel back. I go, I'm just going
- 35:13Speaker 2: to wait until your dad gets back. Good instincts. Will
- 35:16Speaker 2: comes back around. He goes, did you not give her
- 35:18Speaker 2: the towel? I'm like, I tried. I think she's too
- 35:21Speaker 2: focused on the cake. That was good instinct, though, because
- 35:26Speaker 2: that towel was going to have cake all over it. Yeah.
- 35:29Speaker 2: All over it.
- 35:30Speaker 3: So I felt pretty good about how I handled it,
- 35:32Speaker 3: but I was just sitting there.
- 35:34Speaker 2: I did come over to Chef, and Chef hands me
- 35:35Speaker 2: the towel. I was like, did you not give her
- 35:37Speaker 2: the towel? Dude, that's incredible. I fell in a weird
- 35:40Speaker 2: spot where I'm like, No, no, no. I tried, but
- 35:42Speaker 2: I didn't want to throw Rue under the bus. There
- 35:44Speaker 2: was a part of me that was like, she was
- 35:46Speaker 2: just focused on the cake. So I kind of like
- 35:47Speaker 2: tried to mediate and go, you know, I just figured
- 35:50Speaker 2: maybe I would wait a second. Also, I am chef.
- 35:52Speaker 2: I do a pod with your dad. Like I promise
- 35:55Speaker 2: I'm not a stranger danger. There's this big thing. There's
- 35:59Speaker 2: big things with burritos. I took care of the burrito.
- 36:02Speaker 2: I did the burritos. It's all good. So now we're good. Oh, okay. Dude,
- 36:08Speaker 2: you unlocked a memory, by the way, with.
- 36:10Speaker 4: Because my parents were, like, not weird about pools, but
- 36:13Speaker 4: they were, like, real strict about pool safety. My dad,
- 36:19Speaker 4: in high school, at a... It was, like, their fall camp.
- 36:24Speaker 4: They would bus them out to... God, I got to
- 36:28Speaker 4: remember in Texas. It was, like, middle of nowhere, burrs
- 36:31Speaker 4: in the grass to kind of, like, harden the boys up.
- 36:33Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 36:34Speaker 2: And there was one swimming pool. They'd let all the
- 36:37Speaker 2: guys jump into the swimming pool after practice. It's a
- 36:41Speaker 2: shallow pool. And one of his teammates dove head first. Oh. Paralyzed.
- 36:48Speaker 5: What?
- 36:50Speaker 4: Instantly paralyzed. No one noticed except for my dad. Because
- 36:54Speaker 4: everybody's in the pool all at once. And my dad,
- 36:58Speaker 4: it was like a friend of his. He thought he
- 37:00Speaker 4: was kidding and pretending to drown. And then thankfully my
- 37:03Speaker 4: dad went underneath the water to like look at his
- 37:08Speaker 4: face and like blow bubbles at him. Like, dude, what
- 37:10Speaker 4: are you doing? And the guy's just like blankly staring
- 37:13Speaker 4: at my dad. My dad was like, oh my God.
- 37:16Speaker 4: And then just like grabbed him and pulled him out
- 37:19Speaker 4: of the pool and saved.
- 37:20Speaker 2: It was crazy. Crazy story. Guy's still alive today. Oh
- 37:25Speaker 2: my God, dude. Is that not insane? Yeah. Yeah.
- 37:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:29Speaker 4: So my parents were always like real strict about like
- 37:33Speaker 4: pool safety and stuff and like keep an eye on
- 37:36Speaker 4: and that unlocked it. I'm going to be a mess
- 37:39Speaker 4: when Scarlett starts swimming. I might be a mess the
- 37:41Speaker 4: rest of the fucking day.
- 37:43Speaker 2: After that story. Oh, dude, I know. Jesus. Dude, that's
- 37:45Speaker 2: a crazy.
- 37:45Speaker 1: I wasn't expecting that. Like, okay, yeah, I dove in
- 37:48Speaker 1: a shallow end. You hit your head. It's like, oh,
- 37:50Speaker 1: tough way to learn.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, dude. Oh, yeah. Crazy short. And then I
- 37:55Speaker 2: almost drowned on a pool cover. It was a green
- 37:58Speaker 2: pool cover.
- 37:59Speaker 4: And I thought it was a putting green at a
- 38:02Speaker 4: house because you couldn't see the edges of the pool.
- 38:05Speaker 2: I was like five feet.
- 38:08Speaker 4: And I walked out onto the pool cover and it
- 38:11Speaker 4: just completely closed in on me. And like water was
- 38:14Speaker 4: starting to fill up and my cousin went and grabbed
- 38:17Speaker 4: my dad and he saved me. So two saves for
- 38:20Speaker 4: Papa Sherm on drowning, which is crazy.
- 38:22Speaker 2: Yeah, the pool stuff is scary, bro. Scary, dude.
- 38:26Speaker 4: And Jill said that's like, I'm pretty sure in infants
- 38:30Speaker 4: or toddler stage, the leading cause of death is drowning,
- 38:35Speaker 4: which is nutso.
- 38:36Speaker 2: Yeah, man. And she said some kids will just like
- 38:39Speaker 2: fall into a puddle, like face first in a puddle
- 38:42Speaker 2: and they get knocked out a little bit and it's crazy. Yeah,
- 38:47Speaker 2: the pool stuff is, it's a scary deal. It was tough.
- 38:51Speaker 1: I was actually kind of surprised Scotty not wanting to
- 38:53Speaker 1: go into the pool because I thought for sure once
- 38:56Speaker 1: Rue's in there, Scotty's going to want to go in. Oh,
- 38:58Speaker 1: she's still not crazy about the pool, you're saying?
- 39:00Speaker 2: No, she is. I'm surprised she didn't want to go
- 39:02Speaker 2: in the pool. That day.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Even when I had Scotty's swimsuit on, it was to
- 39:07Speaker 1: be in the foam area, like all the bubbles that
- 39:09Speaker 1: were coming, to play in the bubbles because I didn't
- 39:12Speaker 1: have a swim diaper for her. That was the one
- 39:13Speaker 1: thing I was like, do you happen to have a...
- 39:16Speaker 1: A 22-month, two-year-old swim diaper.
- 39:18Speaker 2: It's so clutch that they had it. They didn't have
- 39:21Speaker 2: a swim diaper. They had the swimsuit. Oh, the swimsuit,
- 39:23Speaker 2: not the swim diaper. But Taylor was like, this will
- 39:25Speaker 2: be fine because if she's just placing the bubbles, she
- 39:26Speaker 2: won't be getting wet. But when Rue got in the pool,
- 39:28Speaker 2: I'm like, surely. Scotty's going to be screaming to get
- 39:31Speaker 2: in the pool. Fortunately, she didn't. I kept her busy
- 39:33Speaker 2: with like Pokemon balls, like all the kids are playing
- 39:35Speaker 2: in the pool. Yeah. But because Scotty just was rocking
- 39:39Speaker 2: her regular diaper. PT6, we interrupt this episode to bring

- 41:51Speaker 2: But yeah, man. Good day. Good day at the birthday party. Overall,
- 41:54Speaker 2: it was a fun day at the birthday party. Dude,
- 41:55Speaker 2: the pokey party sounded legit. Yeah.
- 41:58Speaker 1: They have five points pizza coming in. So I'm like,
- 42:01Speaker 1: they want a pizza. So I'm giving Scotty a bite,
- 42:03Speaker 1: giving Rue a bite. Scotty a bite, Rue a bite.
- 42:05Speaker 1: They want the Italian. So there's a lemonade going on.
- 42:07Speaker 1: They're bickering about the lemonade. I'm like, Scotty, I got
- 42:10Speaker 1: a backpack full.
- 42:12Speaker 2: I'm equipped. Let's get some apple juice. Let's get some applesauce.
- 42:15Speaker 2: Here's a meat stick. I wish I'd been there, dude.
- 42:18Speaker 2: That would have been fun. There's two.
- 42:20Speaker 4: There's one reason why I'm glad that I wasn't there.
- 42:23Speaker 4: We had to sell Jill's car. So that's the second
- 42:27Speaker 4: reason is like it was that needed to happen. We
- 42:31Speaker 4: needed to sell Jill's car.
- 42:32Speaker 2: We got it done.
- 42:34Speaker 4: And that is like that's one of those things when
- 42:36Speaker 4: you check it off the list, it feels so big
- 42:39Speaker 4: in your head. But once we did it, we're like, oh,
- 42:41Speaker 4: my God, so glad I did that. And two, man,
- 42:43Speaker 4: if there were puppies that you could leave that party with,
- 42:47Speaker 4: you're looking at a proud owner of a brand new puppy.
- 42:52Speaker 4: And I know these puppies.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Were getting after it on each other.
- 42:56Speaker 2: Everyone listening.
- 42:58Speaker 3: They were going at it and they're such sweet looking
- 43:00Speaker 3: dogs too. And they were all of a sudden, because
- 43:03Speaker 3: there is right next to the ball watching cave, all
- 43:05Speaker 3: of a sudden you're like the whole time. And I
- 43:08Speaker 3: told Taylor, I'm like, hey, these dogs are kind of
- 43:09Speaker 3: getting after it.
- 43:10Speaker 2: What breed? There's some type of oodle, right?
- 43:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 43:16Speaker 2: Poodle-ish, not poodle, but they didn't have the hair for
- 43:20Speaker 2: a poodle. Some type of hypo. It seemed that way.
- 43:22Speaker 2: Maybe not, though. I have no clue.
- 43:23Speaker 3: They look like the Pokemon Eevee for anyone at home
- 43:28Speaker 3: that knows Pokemon.
- 43:29Speaker 2: That's kind of like... Did you happen to see some
- 43:31Speaker 2: of the kids, too, pick them up and just drop them?
- 43:34Speaker 3: I didn't pay that much attention. I just would hear
- 43:36Speaker 3: the audible barking. I'd see them just start going at
- 43:38Speaker 3: each other. And some kids are in there, like, starting
- 43:40Speaker 3: to cry and scream. I'm like, yo, is somebody going
- 43:42Speaker 3: to save that kid? Like, the dog's kind of attacking
- 43:44Speaker 3: the kid.
- 43:47Speaker 2: With your Italian soda and Scotty what's going.
- 43:53Speaker 1: On one of the boys like has it and then
- 43:55Speaker 1: just kind of drops it and I'm thinking this little
- 43:57Speaker 1: badass kid dude and the girl's like don't drop the
- 43:59Speaker 1: dog I'm like yeah tell his ass some of the
- 44:05Speaker 1: sights and sounds you just kind of like observe and witness.
- 44:08Speaker 4: Oh yeah dude especially at a something like that where
- 44:10Speaker 4: there's so much going on like so much fun stuff.
- 44:13Speaker 2: Dude, that's why I love the... I know we talked
- 44:15Speaker 2: about that at your dinner party. I love carnivals, amusement parks,
- 44:21Speaker 2: all types of stuff like that where there's just so
- 44:23Speaker 2: many sights and sounds and kids, dude. But to the point,
- 44:28Speaker 2: I think Jill would have actually... Since our dogs just.
- 44:32Speaker 4: Went to grandma's house, I know that the listeners would
- 44:37Speaker 4: just destroy me in the comments of, what do you mean, blah, blah, blah?
- 44:41Speaker 3: Guys.
- 44:43Speaker 2: I love my wife, but she loves rescuing animals so much.
- 44:48Speaker 4: It's kind of insane. We had two dogs. We would
- 44:52Speaker 4: have had five dogs if it had been Jill's way.
- 44:55Speaker 4: We just had two.
- 44:57Speaker 2: If you're married to one of those two, there's really
- 44:59Speaker 2: no choice. Oh, dude.
- 45:02Speaker 4: I've had to really fight to not bring a dog in.
- 45:08Speaker 4: Of like, honey, I love you so much, but we
- 45:11Speaker 4: ain't doing the dog thing. We already have two. We
- 45:13Speaker 4: live in an apartment. Now you want a lab. Sometimes
- 45:20Speaker 4: you got to be the voice of reason.
- 45:23Speaker 2: I love you, honey. We love you. We love you, Jill.
- 45:28Speaker 2: But sometimes you got to be the voice of reason.
- 45:29Speaker 2: My wife's not been feeling good. I love her. I
- 45:31Speaker 2: feel bad for her. But she's got to get better.
- 45:36Speaker 2: But the effort.
- 45:40Speaker 3: Low effort.
- 45:40Speaker 2: Low effort. He's going to start taking her medicine to
- 45:45Speaker 2: start feeling better. She has to, man. Because you can't
- 45:49Speaker 2: do it all by yourself. I can't be just Mr. Mom.
- 45:59Speaker 2: And I love my wife. A ton. Dude, I adore.
- 46:04Speaker 2: But your best ability is availability. You know what I mean?
- 46:08Speaker 2: I know exactly what you mean. And I feel bad.
- 46:13Speaker 2: I'm like, look, I look and I'm like, hey, let
- 46:17Speaker 2: me rip. I'll take the kids. You get some rest.
- 46:19Speaker 1: That did happen. And I came home and she had
- 46:22Speaker 1: spaghetti made. She was still, she was solid. But there's
- 46:25Speaker 1: moments where I'm just like.
- 46:26Speaker 2: Hey, let's check your temp. No fever. Okay, so you're
- 46:30Speaker 2: getting better. That's great. That's great. I would still take
- 46:34Speaker 2: things slow, but like you're getting better. Yeah. So you
- 46:37Speaker 2: get help more.
- 46:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:38Speaker 2: So you can clean this up over here. Well, I'm
- 46:43Speaker 2: getting the dinner ready. You can get the placemats and
- 46:44Speaker 2: everything else out. Yeah. Oh, my God. I'm joking, sweetheart.
- 46:51Speaker 2: We're kidding.
- 46:51Speaker 4: We love to have fun on the pod. And we
- 46:54Speaker 4: should have eight dogs. I should get eight dogs. I
- 46:57Speaker 4: think Jill does have a point there. Do we want
- 47:01Speaker 4: to do our crack of cold ones?
- 47:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:05Speaker 2: What would my crack? I feel like I have a
- 47:07Speaker 2: few floating through my head. We're in a phase. He's
- 47:12Speaker 2: got one. I don't want to be naked. Go in.
- 47:14Speaker 2: And I do want... We'll get you in the game.
- 47:15Speaker 2: We'll get you in the game. You can make a play.
- 47:17Speaker 2: I can make a sub. Before we fully... It doesn't
- 47:19Speaker 2: even need to be a sub. It can be an addition.
- 47:21Speaker 2: It'd be an addition. That would be awesome. Before we
- 47:23Speaker 2: fully get into it, though, we do have a brand
- 47:26Speaker 2: new flavor. Olipop, caramel apple. We did a little taste testing.
- 47:33Speaker 4: I think it was Deke that said it feels like
- 47:36Speaker 4: this would be a really good float.
- 47:38Speaker 2: Or was it you, Will? It was one who... I
- 47:41Speaker 2: know I was super into it. I was super into
- 47:42Speaker 2: the idea of the float.
- 47:43Speaker 3: It was Deke.
- 47:45Speaker 2: I just said super into the idea. So there you go.
- 47:47Speaker 2: I didn't have the idea, but I do think it
- 47:49Speaker 2: was me. That's incredible. And run that tape back, chef,
- 47:54Speaker 2: because Deke just mouthed out to me, it was me.
- 48:05Speaker 2: But we have our caramel apple, and we're going to
- 48:08Speaker 2: be making little floats today for our Crack a Cold
- 48:12Speaker 2: One segment. Deke's going to make those for us. Hey, listen.
- 48:15Speaker 2: Drink of the fall. Some are saying, dude. A lot
- 48:19Speaker 2: of people are saying. Caramel apple, drink of the fall.
- 48:21Speaker 2: A lot of people are saying. Spooktober. Drink of Spooktober.
- 48:25Speaker 2: The caramel apple's good.
- 48:26Speaker 4: And we've already proven on this show, we like it
- 48:29Speaker 4: by itself. It doesn't need the ice cream. We just said,
- 48:34Speaker 4: oh man, it's fall.
- 48:35Speaker 2: This would be incredible. This and ice cream float. We
- 48:37Speaker 2: have to do it. Yeah.
- 48:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:40Speaker 1: But Mike, crack a cold one. We're in just in
- 48:43Speaker 1: such a fun phase. Like my wife and I took
- 48:45Speaker 1: a pause this morning to watch Rue and Scotty on
- 48:47Speaker 1: the couch. Like they just play together. They play together
- 48:50Speaker 1: really well for 85% of the time. Like there's times
- 48:54Speaker 1: where obviously Rue's annoyed by her. Scotty's bullying her. Like
- 48:57Speaker 1: all this stuff happens. But I love that you're just
- 48:59Speaker 1: getting that out of the... out of the little bucket,
- 49:02Speaker 1: but watching them play together, it just warms your heart, man.
- 49:06Speaker 1: And they were having a moment together on the couch.
- 49:08Speaker 1: Like Rue's like reading her a book or saying whatever
- 49:11Speaker 1: Rue's saying about the book.
- 49:12Speaker 2: Yeah. Scotty's laughing. She's having fun, but just watching them
- 49:15Speaker 2: play together. It is, it is awesome. I would say
- 49:18Speaker 2: that's where my crack a cold one is. And also
- 49:20Speaker 2: Shockwave this morning. I didn't hear it. Shockwave this morning. Oh, okay.
- 49:32Speaker 4: I thought that's what you said. And I know we
- 49:33Speaker 4: were talking about amusement parks earlier. And so I didn't
- 49:36Speaker 4: know if you had made your way down to Dallas-Fort Worth.
- 49:39Speaker 4: six flags over texas or not but you were here
- 49:42Speaker 4: this weekend so i'm guessing yeah yeah crack a call
- 49:46Speaker 4: hey crack a call hey congratulations thank you congratulations golf
- 49:50Speaker 4: club um so she is feeling better hey.
- 49:57Speaker 1: You want to know what's funny dude and we're joking
- 50:01Speaker 1: we're joking we had a good laugh.
- 50:05Speaker 2: Cause I'm like, I'm like grinning. I'm like grinning to
- 50:08Speaker 2: myself before I even say this, but we're laying in
- 50:11Speaker 2: bed one morning. Do you need a fresh one? Yeah,
- 50:13Speaker 2: I'll take it. Oh yeah. I got one.
- 50:16Speaker 1: And, uh, she wasn't feeling well and I'm cuddling up
- 50:22Speaker 1: to her and I'm like, I just whispered here. I
- 50:23Speaker 1: was like, you thinking what I'm thinking? She just responded
- 50:30Speaker 1: face looking away from me. She's like, probably not.
- 50:39Speaker 2: We just start laughing.
- 50:41Speaker 1: I just roll over. I'm having a good chuckle. I'm like, oh,
- 50:46Speaker 1: you don't want some Dr. D? What are you talking about?
- 50:48Speaker 3: Dr.
- 50:48Speaker 2: D might help you out. Let's check that temperature. You
- 50:55Speaker 2: know what? I think I got a fever. I think
- 51:02Speaker 2: I got a fever over here. All right. Probably not. Man,
- 51:07Speaker 2: I still don't feel well. I'm like, no, you don't.
- 51:09Speaker 2: You think what I'm thinking? Aim for the bushes? Epic quote.
- 51:14Speaker 4: What's your crack of coal one, brother?
- 51:19Speaker 3: My crack of coal one is to my parents because
- 51:23Speaker 3: I just moved out. I did a full year at home.
- 51:26Speaker 3: Thank you, mom and dad, for housing me.
- 51:28Speaker 2: It's been awesome. It's been a really cool year. What?
- 51:31Speaker 3: Raising you, raising me, everything all above, but especially letting
- 51:35Speaker 3: me come back and stay with him for a year
- 51:36Speaker 3: in college.
- 51:37Speaker 2: It was like, awesome. They probably loved it, bro. They did.
- 51:40Speaker 3: It was like my dad and mom both were like
- 51:42Speaker 3: emotional when I was like, Hey, this is the last
- 51:44Speaker 3: week before I move out.
- 51:46Speaker 2: Cause it was, uh, such a stark contrast. Oh my God. Sorry. No,
- 51:51Speaker 2: it's good. This is awesome. Yeah, this is unbelievably good,
- 51:55Speaker 2: by the way. This is awesome.
- 51:57Speaker 4: Olipop caramel apple with just a little bit of vanilla
- 52:01Speaker 4: ice cream and oh my god.
- 52:02Speaker 2: Sorry, chef. Not to interrupt, chef. Holy shit. But yeah,
- 52:08Speaker 2: that was it. And then the new house. Living with Matt. Yeah.
- 52:13Speaker 2: How is it with the Goon Beret? It's actually been
- 52:17Speaker 2: really good. It's a nice home. It was just recently built.
- 52:21Speaker 3: Uh outside of nashville and i've been able to cook
- 52:24Speaker 3: get back into like the cooking groove making stuff for
- 52:27Speaker 3: the roommates so far so good like it's a nice
- 52:30Speaker 3: home everyone has space and.
- 52:32Speaker 2: Who do you think is going to be a problem.
- 52:36Speaker 1: Like the way you operate everybody it's like you know
- 52:38Speaker 1: your roommate your roommates you got a few of you
- 52:40Speaker 1: boys in the house you're how old are you 24
- 52:43Speaker 1: about to be 25 okay so you're not like that
- 52:45Speaker 1: at all yet if any if it's gonna be anyone
- 52:47Speaker 1: it's gonna be matt cause we work together, but we've
- 52:50Speaker 1: already put kind of parameters in of like, Hey, we
- 52:53Speaker 1: can't let that the usual, like we have to be
- 52:56Speaker 1: really honest with each other. And if it's like, Hey,
- 52:59Speaker 1: I need you to walk the fuck away, then that's
- 53:02Speaker 1: what it's gotta be. But if there's any chance that
- 53:05Speaker 1: we have a fourth roommate who doesn't has a girlfriend,
- 53:08Speaker 1: so we don't see him a lot. And then it's
- 53:10Speaker 1: Matt's best friend, Scott. Scott's a dog. I don't think,
- 53:13Speaker 1: I don't think it would be Scott. If anything, it
- 53:15Speaker 1: would be Matt, but I think it's going to work.
- 53:17Speaker 2: I really do. We'll see. He's one that strikes me
- 53:23Speaker 2: as like, you're wise beyond your years. I'll just leave
- 53:29Speaker 2: it at that. Chef's going to be holding it down
- 53:31Speaker 2: in your mind. I agree. I'm excited to hear about.
- 53:37Speaker 4: Any housewarming party, any first house party yet?
- 53:43Speaker 2: Possibly. Nothing yet.
- 53:46Speaker 3: We had a scott our other roommate had his girlfriend
- 53:49Speaker 3: in for a while and that she lives long distance so.
- 53:53Speaker 2: Kind of like uh how long was she in about
- 53:58Speaker 2: a week and a half okay and the boys were
- 54:02Speaker 2: cool with that boys were cool that yeah let's go
- 54:04Speaker 2: the boys gotta be yeah oh yeah yeah the boys
- 54:08Speaker 2: gotta be until you're kind of behind their back yeah
- 54:10Speaker 2: yeah yeah it's like how long she's staying I'm just
- 54:16Speaker 2: saying it's a lot of people in the house. It's
- 54:18Speaker 2: a lot of people.
- 54:18Speaker 1: Like, I kind of, like, I'm that way. Isn't she
- 54:21Speaker 1: going on? I can kind of be a Debbie Downer.
- 54:24Speaker 1: Not like, I'm not just talking couples and girlfriends.
- 54:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 54:28Speaker 1: Just like when somebody comes and they're staying a long time,
- 54:30Speaker 1: I'm just like, what are we doing? Did you know
- 54:32Speaker 1: she was going to be staying a week and a half?
- 54:36Speaker 1: Right before she landed.
- 54:37Speaker 2: Hey, there you go. Before she landed? That's perfect. I
- 54:41Speaker 2: just moved in. It was the day I moved in.
- 54:43Speaker 3: So it wasn't like a, I hadn't, me and matt
- 54:46Speaker 3: had no issue with it it was cool it's long
- 54:49Speaker 3: distance i get it i do the same thing yeah
- 54:51Speaker 3: i'm just.
- 54:51Speaker 2: A space guy i i'm a need space guy.
- 54:54Speaker 3: You would you would like this house there's a couple
- 54:56Speaker 3: places you can go so it's not like you're trapped
- 54:59Speaker 3: into it's not like an apartment where you're like but.
- 55:02Speaker 1: Also it's your house you don't like not you know
- 55:05Speaker 1: being able to navigate around your house i'm in the
- 55:07Speaker 1: boat of the way you want to navigate around it
- 55:08Speaker 1: you know what i mean.
- 55:09Speaker 3: Yeah it's like you can't walk around like shirt off
- 55:12Speaker 3: or anything like that sucks but other than that like
- 55:14Speaker 3: i'm a person to where i don't that stuff has
- 55:17Speaker 3: never bothered me much i've always been like hey i'm
- 55:20Speaker 3: cool with whatever i lived in a house with eight
- 55:21Speaker 3: guys in college yeah that's great that was and that
- 55:25Speaker 3: did suck but that was for different reasons we were
- 55:27Speaker 3: all idiots and it.
- 55:28Speaker 2: Was about to say we had a house of seven
- 55:31Speaker 2: uh my senior year so that's too many Way too
- 55:34Speaker 2: many when it gets that big. Oh, for sure. For sure.
- 55:36Speaker 4: And it was, I mean, sizable house, but like doubling
- 55:40Speaker 4: up on rooms and stuff. I was in a damn
- 55:43Speaker 4: near a closet. They called it the penalty box. It
- 55:47Speaker 4: was like basically an office had a baby with a closet.
- 55:51Speaker 4: And that was my bedroom my senior year. But to
- 55:56Speaker 4: that point, I don't want to push Chef in any
- 56:01Speaker 4: sort of direction. I'm not telling you what to do.
- 56:04Speaker 4: I'm just saying you can still walk around that house
- 56:07Speaker 4: with your shirt off.
- 56:09Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. You can. Always could.
- 56:11Speaker 4: You can go into the kitchen just in your underwear,
- 56:14Speaker 4: stretch a little bit, get something out of the fridge,
- 56:18Speaker 4: drink right out of the gallon jug for milk.
- 56:23Speaker 2: You can do that if you want. The freedom of
- 56:26Speaker 2: choice is always there. Yes. I'm not telling you to
- 56:30Speaker 2: do that, but... Always can. That would be sick. Then
- 56:34Speaker 2: you're really pissing on the hydrant. This is my house.
- 56:38Speaker 2: Let everybody know. We're just true curiosity, having some fun.
- 56:44Speaker 2: He's sitting there trying to balance the dynamic. Boys, listen
- 56:48Speaker 2: to the show. Like, am I.
- 56:52Speaker 2: I know Matt's going to end up listening. It could
- 56:54Speaker 2: have been a house divided while the stay was happening.
- 56:57Speaker 2: You never know. You do never know.
- 56:59Speaker 4: But from behind the scenes stuff that I've talked with Chef,
- 57:03Speaker 4: if said friend with girlfriend that stayed for a week
- 57:06Speaker 4: and a half is listening, he was very cool with it.
- 57:09Speaker 2: And it sounded like everyone was. Yeah. Oh, yeah. You
- 57:13Speaker 2: already know. Matt's a crock. You get that girlfriend and.

- 1:00:19Speaker 2: I know, I know. My Crack a Cold one, very quick.
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: Jill's birthday is on the 18th, which is one day
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: before your birthday, the 19th. Happy birthday, Jill. Happy birthday, Will.
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: Big opportunity for me. Some listeners that were with us,
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: if you'd started before this first Mother's Day.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: For Jill, I whiffed.
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: I blew it on Mother's Day. I could have done
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: way better. We took notes. And I'm not going to
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: spoil anything on the show in case Jill listens this
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: week before her birthday on Friday. But I got some plans.
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: Plans that are already in action. Things that are already
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: ordered and received at our house. We're dialed in.
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: We're dialed. We're making up for Mother's Day.
- 1:01:16Speaker 4: And showing her, honey, this is how I want to
- 1:01:18Speaker 4: celebrate you for the rest of my life.
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: Because I love you. Yeah.

- 1:01:29Speaker 4: that's my crackicle one. I am very excited. Happy birthday
- 1:01:32Speaker 4: to Jill.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: Happy birthday. And happy birthday to Will. Thank you. Thank you, fellas.
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: Thank you, fellas.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Let's get into some shout outs, shall we? I got
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: one here from Ryan Zambrick. Wifey shout out.
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: Hey, gang.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: Ryan from Nashville here, father of the artist behind the
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: sock puppet dance party. Drawing you guys featured in an
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: early Soda the Pod. Wanted to shout out my wife
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: because she's a rock star both at home and at work.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: September is a hard month for her as it was
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: for her mother's birth month. We lost her mom February
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: of 2019, two days before we were going to announce
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: to the family that we were expecting our first child.
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: Now, as a family, we are blessed with two kids,
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: both born in September, and I know it's painful for
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: my wife to show joy for our children and also
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: mourn her mom every year. Ashley, thank you so much
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: for being such a trooper and a motivator for our
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: children to always be kind and do their best. To
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: anyone hearing this, know that you're enough, so please stay.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: September is also Suicide Prevention Month, and that hits home
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: with our family and many others around the world. Stay
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: blessed for the dad's gang. Take out the trash and
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: watch your mouth if you don't want your four-year-old son's
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: favorite word to be fucker.
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: Hey, great dad hack there at the end. Good dad hack.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: Good dad hack. Good dad hack. I have a shout
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: out from Janae Singh. She writes in, hi for the
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: dad's team.
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: I'm writing to share the story of my husband, Matthew,
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: who's been a dedicated listener of For the Dad's podcast
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: since day one. With his birthday coming up on September.
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: 16th, More September birthdays? You're listening to this episode on
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: your birthday, Matthew.
- 1:03:14Speaker 4: Happy birthday, Matt. Happy birthday. I wanted to reach out
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: and thank you for being such a huge part of
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: his fatherhood journey.
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: When we were expecting our first son, Matthew made a
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: massive sacrifice for our family and completely upended his routine
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: by switching to the overnight shift. It was a huge adjustment,
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: but it allowed him to be fully present during the day.
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: Our little boy just turned one on September 4th. To
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: top it all off, we are currently expecting our second son.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: This coming spring. Hello, hello.
- 1:03:49Speaker 4: Because, sorry, because he has tuned in since your very
- 1:03:55Speaker 4: first episode. Your podcast has been his constant companion through
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: the overnight hours. He is truly inspiring. He is a
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: truly inspiring dad who always puts family first, navigating an
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: upside down sleep schedule and now prepping for two under two.
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: Thank you for creating such an incredible space for fathers.
- 1:04:17Speaker 4: Your show has truly made a difference in our lives
- 1:04:20Speaker 4: as Matthew navigates the wild world of modern dad life.
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: I've included some pictures of him with our son and
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: our family.
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: Best regards. Look at Matthew, dude. Look at Matthew. Shout
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: out Matthew. Look at the camel ride. And shout out
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: Janae too for riding in and getting that birthday present.
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: literally perfect timing by her. Hell yeah. And if he's
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: listening to us right now overnight, dude, happy birthday, man.
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: Happy birthday. Happy birthday, man. Yeah. A couple of coupons.
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: A couple of coupons. Put a bow on it. Shockwave.
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: Because the one's coming in the spring.
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: Aiden Rockne. What's up, boys?
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: Wanted to give two shout-outs. One to my brother for life, Josh,
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: and the other to my sweet, beautiful wife, Rachel. Josh
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: got me hooked on the pod in November, not long
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: after I found out my wife was pregnant.
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: Shout-out, Josh, bro. That's how you put PT Sickos on
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: the pod. Yes, dude.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: Get them on the team. He is the father of
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: two-and-a-half-year-old Kyler, a beast of a father, husband, and friend,
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: and a longtime PT Sicko. He's been with me through
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: the whole process, giving advice and support. And I think
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: we need to hype up our boys more. Second shout
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: out to my amazing wife, Rachel. She absolutely crushed pregnancy
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: and delivery and has been putting on an absolute clinic
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: of what parenthood should look like ever since. She's the
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: example I constantly strive to emulate. And Bethany and I
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: are so unbelievably lucky to have her. Keep making us smile.
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: Aiden. Shout out, Aiden. Shout out, Rachel. Shout out, Josh.
- 1:05:57Speaker 4: And shout out the boys more. I thought that was
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: a good little lesson in there. We got to shout
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: our boys out more. Got to shout the boys out more.
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: Except for Nick. We don't shout out Nick.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: Nick, I'll text you. I'll text you. We're good. We're good.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: Tyler Campbell wrote in. This is a new dad alert.
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: He said, hey, boys. Also, I got to read this
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: subject line. This is a great subject line. All caps.
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: New dad alert. West Virginia. P.T. Sicko. Hey, boys. P.T.
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: Sicko here. And now a proud first time dad.
- 1:06:33Speaker 4: My wife and I welcomed our son Ford into the
- 1:06:37Speaker 4: world last Thursday for On the third, at eight pounds,
- 1:06:40Speaker 4: nine ounces, strong, healthy, and loud, and just a dream
- 1:06:44Speaker 4: come true, having a son keeps my last name carrying on.
- 1:06:48Speaker 4: Let's go. The last few days have been some of
- 1:06:51Speaker 4: the most overwhelmingly... joyful, and yet stressful of my life,
- 1:06:55Speaker 4: but my mom and baby are healthy and happy, and
- 1:06:59Speaker 4: I count my blessings for that. As a West Virginia fan,
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: on Ford's second day of life, we had him decked
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: out in his Mountaineer gear to kick off the college
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: football season and watched the game together from the hospital room,
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: our first and absolutely not our last, pick attached. And then,
- 1:07:18Speaker 4: take me home, took on a whole new meaning. The
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: next day, we got to bring Ford home. And of course,
- 1:07:25Speaker 4: I made sure to rock my no one is coming
- 1:07:28Speaker 4: to save you shirt from bustingwiththeboys.com, pick attached. That shirt
- 1:07:33Speaker 4: was the epitome of exactly what I was feeling as
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: we walked out of the hospital, no nurses, No on-call doctors,
- 1:07:41Speaker 4: no safety net, just me and my wife and this
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: brand new human that has forever changed our lives for
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: the better. Overwhelming joy, yet terrifying and exactly right all
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: at the same time. I just wanted to say thank you.
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: I started listening to the show the day my wife
- 1:07:58Speaker 4: told me that she was pregnant. And I've listened to
- 1:08:01Speaker 4: every episode and spread the good word to anyone who
- 1:08:03Speaker 4: will listen. The show genuinely helped me begin to wrap
- 1:08:06Speaker 4: my head around what being a dad actually looks like
- 1:08:09Speaker 4: day to day. Somewhere between the sleep deprivation and diaper blowouts, good.
- 1:08:14Speaker 4: Having your voices in my ear reminded me that everyone
- 1:08:17Speaker 4: feels overwhelmed at first, but we get to do this
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: has meant more than you probably realize. What you are
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: building with the platform is real, it's helpful, and it's appreciated.
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: So thank you for doing it. Proud new dad, Tyler Campbell.
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: From Connecticut.
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: Shout out Tyler, man. Nobody's coming to save you.
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: No directions. No nothing that he talked about. Truly. He
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: has a perfect shirt. BWTB.com. You can go and cop it.
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: Marshall Morin. It's with great honor that I write this email.
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: I've been a listener since day one. I have waited
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: nine long months to finally join Papa Team 6.
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: What?
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: Eleanor Morin joined the world September 7th on Labor Day.
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: Being a dad is better than I could have ever imagined.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Huge shout out to my wife, Claire, because labor is
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: no joke and she crushed it. Baby Eleanor's big first
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: week keeps getting bigger. Her first week of NFL football
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: is upon her. I have one right here, ripping a
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: Vikings jersey. Vikings, dad's favorite team versus Packers, mom's favorite team.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: Playing week one to determine her fandom forever. Have a
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: great week, boys.
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: Skol.
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: Skol.
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: Because dad won. Dad won. Vikings taking down the Packers, too.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: I was like, oh, come on. Come on. Skol, Vikes.
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: Carson Wentz comes off the bench. Too easy. Takes down
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: the Pack, bro. And poor Kyler, dude. Hate that for
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: Kyler Murray. Yeah, I know. I know. Tough scene for
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: Kyler Murray. Yeah. Tough scene for Kyler Murray. We've got
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: the photo here.
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: This is from a PT6 community here.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: Oh, let's go. Donnie Maz on YouTube. Stevie Mozzarella. Stevie
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: Mozzarella from Staten Island checking back in. Boys, before week one,
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: running a dad Olympics. Bunch of dads getting after it,
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: impressing their wives, and the crafts learned from the leaders
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: before entering the man cave. Events? Events?
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: Changing a doll's diaper with chocolate pudding on it. A
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: laundry basket themed beer pong shooting with clothes. Kids lawnmower
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: being put to use in an obstacle course. A 10
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: piece kids puzzle followed by a bottle of themed flip cup.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: Was pondering if any of the troops had any more
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: events and ideas. Bro, Donnie Mozzarella.
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: Hey, I want to be at Donnie Mozzarella's man cave, man.
- 1:10:27Speaker 4: Lord knows what that man cave's like. That's got to
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: be where to watch the game.
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: You have any more ideas or events?
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: Well, I've been seeing the watermelon with the baby oil
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: on it. Catching a watermelon with baby oil has been
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: big on social media. Maybe even putting a diaper on
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: a watermelon that has baby oil on it. That sounds
- 1:10:50Speaker 4: like that could be kind of hard.
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: Yeah. I'm wondering, too, if there's something where you could...
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: Get the baby bag going like backpacks. You got to
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: stack it the right way. Transfer something over.
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: Ooh, that is good.
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: Or get like a relay going on, but it has
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: to be like things like the diapers got to be
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: in the right spot. The wipes got to be in
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: the right spot. You know, bottles or whatever on the
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: sides of the backpack. You got to stuff it.
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: The right way.
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: I don't know how you'd get the fake baby foot,
- 1:11:16Speaker 4: but dude, little kid boots, man. You want to talk
- 1:11:20Speaker 4: about something that's impossible, dude. Oh, I can't get a
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: boot on putting them on.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: Oh my God. Some of that stuff pisses me off, dude.
- 1:11:30Speaker 4: And yeah, I got to put my hand on top
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: of the, the knee and then I'm pushing, but she's
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: straightening her leg. I mean, there's no right way to
- 1:11:37Speaker 4: do it. You'll just sit still.
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: Please. And once you sit still, then God knows where
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: I'm pulling on the boot to then make sure the
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: heel clicks. Yeah. Get excited.
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: Cause she's going to get a little older and she's
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: going to be like, no, I want to do it. Oh,
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: for the love of God. So you're telling them it's
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: okay to ask for help. It's okay to ask for help.
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: They want to put it on. It's wrong foot.
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: They get frustrated. Meltdowns happen. 15 minutes later. Honey, we're
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: going to be late to the blah.
- 1:12:09Speaker 5: Blah, blah.
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: Hey, sweetheart, just let dad do it. You want to
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: know why? Because dad loves you. I'm doing this because
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: I love you. Love you, dude. And your mom's up
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: my ass right now. We're going to be late, honey.
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: I know. I already know. AJ Mitchell. He writes in,
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: PT Sicko preseason All-American.
- 1:12:29Speaker 4: What's up, fellas? AJ from Michigan here. I'm a semen
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: team fucking sicko. Listening to your podcast makes me so
- 1:12:38Speaker 4: excited to be a dad and has me prepared to
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: be a PT Sicko preseason All-American.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: Looking forward to all the dad dubs and dad Ls,
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: even though I know fatherhood is going to run me
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: over like one shelf trying to meet Blake Corum in
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: the A-gap. Go blue and keep it under an hour.
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: And I'll read that last part. Did you catch that
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: last part?
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: No, because I'm reading this one from Jordan Haag. And
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: he's taking a shot at me for mowing the lawn.
- 1:13:05Speaker 3: No!
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: A.J. Mitchell took a shot at you, too. What the
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: hell is A.J. saying?
- 1:13:10Speaker 4: He said that fatherhood's going to run over him like
- 1:13:13Speaker 4: one-shelf meat and Blake Corham and the A-Gap.
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: What is this guy saying? Target practice? Jordan Haag.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: Boys wanted to warn the community about the PT6 merch.
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: The wifey and I had been trying for another trial
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: for over a year and a half.
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: It was very frustrating.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: Mentally drained us. Month after month, high hopes, getting crushed
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: time and time again by negative results. Fast forward, a
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: couple months ago, I decided this day one listener finally
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: needed some PT6 gear, especially after getting my shout out
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: on the Sode. I got a PT6 hat along with
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: a We Ride It Dawn shirt because unlike Will, this
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: Missouri boy mows his lawn.
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: Ugh.
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: Which is so uncalled for. Like, I've mowed my lawn,
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: damn it. And when you do, you're using Gravely. Shout
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: out Gravely. Shout out Gravely, man. Get your lawnmower at Gravely.
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: What are they doing, Will? Dude, I don't know. But
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: guess what?
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: A couple weeks after receiving their merch and wearing the
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: hell out of it, woke up one morning, surprise, wifey pregnant.
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: Could not be more excited. First ultrasound comes in.
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: Twins.
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: Oh!
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: Twins.
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: Twins.
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: So if you're looking for a PT6 merchant, you're in
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: buds training.
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: That's breeding until dad status for new listeners. Maybe stick
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: with just a hat or get two hats and put
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: a few more bows on it. Pray for the wifey
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: and I as we get prepared to meet Aaron Donald
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: and Miles Garrett in the A-Gap in April.
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: As always, love the pod. You boys keep up the
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: good work. Jordan Hag. Oh, he has in parentheses. H-A-U-G-E
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: is the pronunciation? What's that? H-A-G-U-E? The pronunciation of that
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: didn't help differentiate from the spelling. That confuses me more.
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: The spelling's H-A-G, and the pronunciation is H-A-U-G-E. Hey, he's
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: a Missouri boy. Yeah. He's got to screw loose. He's
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: probably from Potosi. And then we're going to find out
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: that it's Haj. I spelled it out for you. It's Haj.
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: It's Haj. It's Haj. It's Haj. Jacob Clay wrote in,
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: North Carolina DMV hates PT6. This is breaking news. Wait.
- 1:15:27Speaker 4: Hates PT6? North Carolina DMV hates PT6. And he writes, well, boys,
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: I'm pissed. I recently moved from Washington to North Carolina.
- 1:15:36Speaker 4: That's a hell of a move. And realized I had
- 1:15:39Speaker 4: to get my car registered in North Carolina. And what
- 1:15:42Speaker 4: better time to rep for the dads than a PT6
- 1:15:45Speaker 4: license plate? I went in, spent half my life savings
- 1:15:50Speaker 4: on registering my car and custom plate, $ 600.
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: He put a throw up emoji.
- 1:15:56Speaker 4: And walked out with a huge smile knowing I'm repping
- 1:15:59Speaker 4: the PT sickos everywhere I went.
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: This is actually kind of sick. Until today, I get
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: this steaming pile of shit in the mail. What do
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: I even do with this? Do I try again and
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: attach a sticky note to my application for the same plate,
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: explaining that I'm just a proud motherfucking PT sicko that
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: wants to rep the community? Or do I let them win?
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: Serious conundrum here, boys. Now I have the official. You
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: need answers. You need it. You got to go. What
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: is the DMV?
- 1:16:29Speaker 4: So the DMV said the division has received your request
- 1:16:33Speaker 4: for personalized license plate text PT sicko. And he spelled
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: it with the six. The plate text is declined based
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: on the division's policy. Policy regarding that the Division of
- 1:16:47Speaker 4: Motor Vehicles must not issue a personalized plate that will
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: interfere with the law enforcement efforts or that a reasonable
- 1:16:54Speaker 4: person would, considering all reasonable contacts, find it to be
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: obscene or offensive.
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: You got to walk in the DMV.
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: You got to just hold your hand up until someone asks, like,
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: do you need something?
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: I need to talk to whoever's ready to enter the A-gap.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: You go in the A-gap, and it sounds like we
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: have a good solve here.
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: Yeah. PT Sixer? PT Sixers? Is it the echo? Yeah,
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: is it the echo?
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: Is that what we're talking about? What's offensive about the
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: license plate?
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: Couldn't tell you. PT Sixer seems like a fix. Shockwave? Shockwave?
- 1:17:42Speaker 7: I had another theory in there. The end of that
- 1:17:45Speaker 7: Sherman says, considering all reasonable context, fine to be obscene.
- 1:17:49Speaker 7: This is for a reasonable person. Fine to be obscene, offensive, indecent,
- 1:17:53Speaker 7: or conflicting with a current plate series. My theory is
- 1:17:57Speaker 7: the DMV is putting out their own line of for
- 1:17:59Speaker 7: the dad's license plates, and that's why this guy's didn't
- 1:18:02Speaker 7: get approved, obviously.
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: Quite the conundrum. But there are solves. There are solves.
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: It feels like there are solves if it's the ICO.
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: I don't understand what's obscene.
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: What was it? Obscene, disgusted. Indecent. Indecent.
- 1:18:20Speaker 5: Indecent.
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: Obscure. What does obscure mean? Yeah.
- 1:18:24Speaker 4: PT Sitco seems so locked in. And I mean, one
- 1:18:28Speaker 4: thing that I have heard is that you need for
- 1:18:31Speaker 4: the license registration or.
- 1:18:35Speaker 4: Uh, plates, sometimes they want more numbers on there. So
- 1:18:38Speaker 4: then it's like, okay, PT six, I becomes a one.
- 1:18:42Speaker 4: And then the O in sicko becomes a zero. Like
- 1:18:47Speaker 4: maybe that's the solve. but even then i'm like because
- 1:18:52Speaker 4: then it's almost like that's not even a like if
- 1:18:54Speaker 4: a cop's reading that out they're saying pt61 uh yeah.
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: Pt61 ck0 What's wrong with that? That sounds like a
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: good solve. It seems like there are options on the table.
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: There are.
- 1:19:11Speaker 4: Jacob, you will get those plates, brother. And I hope
- 1:19:14Speaker 4: they refund them at least for the.
- 1:19:17Speaker 7: A refund for your personalized license plate has been issued,
- 1:19:19Speaker 7: but Chef had a better concept.
- 1:19:21Speaker 3: How sick would it be if he gets a PT6
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: license plate, gets pulled over for speeding, and the cop goes,
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: I was going to give you a ticket, but I
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: just saw something. Do you watch for the dad's podcast?
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: How insane? That's like a back to blue sticker. I mean,
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: basically same concept.
- 1:19:39Speaker 4: That would be, that would be the ultimate write-in email
- 1:19:42Speaker 4: call in of all time.
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: That would be peak. Oh yeah. Officers. I got one
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: for you out here in New Hampshire.
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: Uh-huh.
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: You going about 20 over. That's all the plates. You're
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: just getting a warning today. You ain't getting a ticket.
- 1:20:01Speaker 4: You tell a one-shelf, old fat staff, tell them I said, hey.
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: Be like, oh, my God. That's epic. Then you ask,
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: is it okay if I drop a comment talking about
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: this story? Yeah, just change my name or something. Yeah,
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: just don't put my name in there.
- 1:20:17Speaker 4: Yeah, you good, man. I'm going to write in, too,
- 1:20:20Speaker 4: so hopefully they read both of ours. Let me get
- 1:20:22Speaker 4: your number, man. Let's stay in touch.
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: We got that one. Yeah, I do have PT Fit
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: as well.
- 1:20:31Speaker 4: Go ahead, rip it, and we'll get into calls. This
- 1:20:33Speaker 4: one's actually very fun. This comes from Brad Tannis. Brad says,
- 1:20:39Speaker 4: I'm turning 40 on September 20th. 40 on 420.
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: Let's go. And my wife and I have our first
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: kid on the way.
- 1:20:48Speaker 4: I've been working on getting in better shape before the
- 1:20:51Speaker 4: little guy comes.
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: And have been struggling finding a good workout playlist. This
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: is where we come in, Will.
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: I think you guys should create an official PT Fit playlist.
- 1:21:02Speaker 4: Maybe you each pick a song to add to it
- 1:21:06Speaker 4: each week for a while, and then it builds the
- 1:21:09Speaker 4: playlist out.
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: I'm not against that. I'm not against that either. It's
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: so easy to do on Spotify. Number one, I'll just
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: get in on Spotify. I'll type in Till I Collapse
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: by Eminem.
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: And then I just let Spotify kind of do its
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: thing until I collapse.
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: What comes after that? I was about to say, this
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: might be a dream case scenario for Will Compton.
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I can add songs to the list. I've got
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: some bangers out there that I rip in the garage.
- 1:21:38Speaker 4: Will did the hype videos for Nebraska for the last
- 1:21:42Speaker 4: two years, like the pre-kickoff hype videos.
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: And, uh, chef has helped a ton with those.
- 1:21:48Speaker 4: Deke has helped, uh, do audio for those a couple
- 1:21:51Speaker 4: of times, but we filmed them right here in studio
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: and we'll sneak over to the side and we'll film
- 1:21:58Speaker 4: will where you basically just yell at a camera for
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: a solid, like 45, uh, second video, but it's probably
- 1:22:05Speaker 4: about an hour worth of filming and to get yourself hype.
- 1:22:10Speaker 4: Some of the songs that you play in here before
- 1:22:12Speaker 4: we ever start recording, you just start throwing on like
- 1:22:16Speaker 4: hair metal, heavy metal, 80s, 70s.
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: Yeah, you get the classic rock. You have this easy top. Yes.
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: You have a workout playlist in your bones, brother. Yeah, man.
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: The Huskers look good this year. I swear to God.
- 1:22:42Speaker 4: Hey, I'm only doing this because I know that your
- 1:22:47Speaker 4: other half, Taylor LeJuan, would want me to do this.
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: We got to wait. We got to wait. I can
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: still be excited. You like them. I like this team, yeah. Yeah,
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: I like this team. I know it's one game at
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: a time.
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: It's one game at a time. I just know how
- 1:23:08Speaker 4: I can get very excited for you. And I can
- 1:23:11Speaker 4: feed the fire. And I think out of respect for Taylor,
- 1:23:16Speaker 4: he would want me to not feed it too much.
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: I feel like everybody's trying to just suppress my fandom.
- 1:23:21Speaker 7: Is that the same Taylor LeJuan that said don't tread
- 1:23:23Speaker 7: on fandom? Same Taylor LeJuan that's spoken what? About 90
- 1:23:28Speaker 7: minutes over the last couple of weeks?
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: I just want to make sure it's the same guy.
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: I have no issue. I don't know, Sherm. I have
- 1:23:35Speaker 2: no issue with the fandom.
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: The stuff that's coming out of my mouth isn't, we're
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: going to the college football playoff.
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: It's what I've seen on film. Yes.
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: And who I think we could clip this year, potentially,
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: is what I'm talking about. I'm talking about just the
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: ball I've watched.
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: The finish from the offensive linemen. Because the Buckeyes are
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: going to Lincoln, Nebraska, I'm pretty sure.
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: I'm not here to talk about Ohio State coming to Lincoln, Nebraska.
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: I'm just saying what I've watched. Alex Calandria, decisive. Some fire.
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: Jamal Rule. Malachi. Not Malachi, Tony. What am I?
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: Mekhi Nelson. Mekhi Nelson in the backfield. We got some receivers, man.
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: We got a whole line that they are finishing people.
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: Luke Lindenmeyer. Indiana has to go to Lincoln, Nebraska? Indiana does.
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: Indiana's a very good football team. Indiana's tough.
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: You're not going to see me sit here and talk
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: shit about Cignetti or anything about that program. I'm just
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: saying I like the boys in red right now.
- 1:24:38Speaker 4: And all I'm saying is an undefeated season for Indiana, repeat,
- 1:24:43Speaker 4: you know, undefeated regular season.
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: That road leads... Right into Lincoln, Nebraska. You got to
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: go through. I'm just saying. And I do believe the
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: Huskies from Washington, they'll be in Lincoln, Nebraska. I've heard tell.
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: Huskies don't look that solid this year. Not as solid
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: as Nebraska. We just got to keep stacking weeks. Yes.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: And what I feel like I need to do just
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: on my own when I'm watching film over there is
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: I just record my own videos about plays that I'm
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: seeing that I'm fired up about.
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: To give to the public, because right now it feels
- 1:25:15Speaker 2: like I'm getting suppressed. It feels like I'm getting Facebooked. Yes.
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: Or they're trying to, what's the word? They're trying to
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: put guardrails around me.
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: Well, and you tell me. Yeah, they're trying to muzzle me.
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: And I'm just thinking, what are we talking about? You
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: tell me right now. This is a little bit.
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: I've talked more Tennessee football with Chef than I ever
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: get words out with the Huskers.
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:25:36Speaker 4: And this is somewhat of a bit, but it's also real.
- 1:25:39Speaker 4: I want you to hear me right now. Do you
- 1:25:44Speaker 4: want me to feed the flame throughout the rest of
- 1:25:47Speaker 4: the season? Only if you're watching the games.
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: Like if you're actually watching the, or Anthony Calandra, Big
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: Ten Offensive Player of the Week over the weekend.
- 1:25:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: You saw that. I saw that. I did not watch
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: y'all's game. I didn't watch y'all's game.
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: Go to my, one of my last suites. I hit
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: it about 10.50 last night, 10.50 PM last night.
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: Just some of the highlights of the Huskers last week.
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: And I know it was Bowling Green. It's not even
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: fucking about that. I swear to God, it's not about that.
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: Shout out Bowling Green. Shout out Bowling Green. I'm supportive.
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: Thank you, Chef.
- 1:26:25Speaker 3: You are in a spot that I feel sometimes where
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: it's like our teams, we tend to get really excited
- 1:26:31Speaker 3: about them. And we're like, oh, maybe you start to
- 1:26:33Speaker 3: get some hope. And then in the past, we get
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: ripped down because of our teams. And it puts it
- 1:26:39Speaker 3: in a tough spot. And I think everyone knows how
- 1:26:42Speaker 3: excited you get. And they worry about Nebraska ripping you down. However,
- 1:26:49Speaker 3: as a Tennessee fan, I say, fuck them.
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: Go all in.
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: Because I was the same way going into Tennessee season.
- 1:26:55Speaker 3: I watched this play to nobody. I'm in Georgia Tech.
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: And I'm starting to get the itch that when Texas
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: comes into town in two weeks, we're going to beat
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: the shit out of them. There are times when our
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: Tennessee fans, I feel higher on Tennessee that they're allowing
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: themselves to be right now. And I'm like, bro.
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: You guys should be excited about this offense. I haven't
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: watched them much. I haven't broke down their defense that much.
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: I know we're getting completely off the rails before the
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: Nets podcast.
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: No, all good. Two picks against Georgia Tech. Mendoza.
- 1:27:24Speaker 4: Good Georgia Tech team, though. I watched that game. That's
- 1:27:27Speaker 4: a good Georgia Tech team. They're missing a few pieces
- 1:27:30Speaker 4: to be really good. That ain't a good.
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: Georgia Tech team. Brent Key's got to be so pissed off.
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: They're not physical. They're not playing.
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: Colorado? Yeah. Come on, man. Yeah. But we don't know
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: how good Colorado is. Not yet.
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: Deion was giving a hell of a post-game speech about
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: like that shit shouldn't be good enough.
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: Y'all aren't pros. Y'all aren't killers.
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: Yeah. They won like by 30 and Deion was ripping them.
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: Yeah. That's why I'm just saying it's not a bad
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: Georgia Tech game.
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: We got to hit, we have to hit voicemails because
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: I got to get into some film breakdown.
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: And do you know why we have to this week?
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: Tell me why.
- 1:28:06Speaker 4: Or sorry, why we get to. Dad Call-Ins, of course,
- 1:28:11Speaker 4: they're presented by our good friends at Gravely.
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: Shout out Gravely.
- 1:28:14Speaker 4: Shout out Gravely. This segment is brought to us by Gravely.
- 1:28:18Speaker 4: Let's get into our Dad Call-Ins this week. First one
- 1:28:21Speaker 4: is titled PT Sicko.
- 1:28:26Speaker 5: What up, boys? It's Willis from Nashville. Taking my son
- 1:28:29Speaker 5: to daycare right now. Last week of our mornings together
- 1:28:34Speaker 5: before we switch up the morning routine next week. um
- 1:28:37Speaker 5: and mommy starts taking him to daycare but we were
- 1:28:39Speaker 5: just uh starting our day with the podcast and buddy
- 1:28:42Speaker 5: what did you say a second ago can you say
- 1:28:46Speaker 5: a little bit.
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: Louder say it real loud.
- 1:28:51Speaker 6: Say it louder.
- 1:28:52Speaker 5: PT Sicko.
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: PT Sicko.
- 1:28:55Speaker 5: Rise and shine, boys.
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: Let's have a good one. Willis. Let's go, Willis. Let's go.
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: PT Sicko. That's awesome. That's a wholesome call in. That's
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: all time. Oh, man. And right here in our own backyard, man. Nashville, Tennessee.
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:29:12Speaker 4: God, what daycare are they going to? I want to
- 1:29:15Speaker 4: join in. Trash Day.
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: Dad hack.
- 1:29:19Speaker 6: Good morning, boys. Heather from Colorado, Legend Team 6, or
- 1:29:24Speaker 6: as Willie.
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: Went to say, Saggy. Call it in with the dad.
- 1:29:29Speaker 4: It's the grandma they called in. And you said the
- 1:29:31Speaker 4: team name for the grandparents was Saggy Team 6.
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: Yeah, let's go, dude. My dad did.
- 1:29:39Speaker 6: And it worked. And I'm telling you, it worked to
- 1:29:42Speaker 6: this day. So Love and Logic, great, great book by
- 1:29:48Speaker 6: Jim Fay to read. great ideas, tips and tricks. However,
- 1:29:52Speaker 6: as a kid, premise to the lesson is you make
- 1:29:57Speaker 6: choices and there's consequences. Well, my sister and I would
- 1:30:00Speaker 6: be fighting and we'd run in our rooms and slam
- 1:30:03Speaker 6: our doors and slam our doors. And instead of yelling,
- 1:30:06Speaker 6: my dad simply got up, took the doors off the hinges,
- 1:30:09Speaker 6: took the doors to the basement. And you can imagine
- 1:30:12Speaker 6: not having a door in your room, not cool. But
- 1:30:15Speaker 6: in fitting with the show as well, One of the
- 1:30:19Speaker 6: jobs my sister and I had was to take out
- 1:30:22Speaker 6: the trash, take it to the curb on Mondays. Well,
- 1:30:26Speaker 6: we forgot and we forget and we keep forgetting. So
- 1:30:29Speaker 6: what did my dad do? Brought the trash cans into
- 1:30:32Speaker 6: our rooms, took off the lids, and throughout the week
- 1:30:35Speaker 6: he'd come empty the trash in our rooms. The rule
- 1:30:38Speaker 6: was if we took it out of our room or
- 1:30:40Speaker 6: put the lid on it, we would have to do
- 1:30:43Speaker 6: it again for another week. I'm telling you, I have
- 1:30:46Speaker 6: not forgotten the trash.
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: To this day.
- 1:30:50Speaker 6: Just a great dad hack for you guys. Appreciate what
- 1:30:53Speaker 6: you guys are doing. Willie One Shelf, Pat Stafford, Geek
- 1:30:57Speaker 6: and Chef, appreciate everything you do. Great, great show. Great pod, guys.
- 1:31:03Speaker 6: Legend Team 6 out.
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: Is she saying Legend Team 6?
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: Legend Team 6. Dude, that call-in is awesome. Great call-in.
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: That's a future dad hack. Because I can't have that
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: dad hack in my life now because it's just the wife.
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: It's my wife bringing the trash can in the room.
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: It's her punishing me, which I love, you know. I
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: got to get on my shit sometimes with the trash. Oh, man.
- 1:31:28Speaker 4: Thank God my trash day got moved to Monday. I
- 1:31:32Speaker 4: love a good Monday trash day. I've been doing pretty
- 1:31:36Speaker 4: well with this Monday trash day. What day is yours?
- 1:31:39Speaker 4: Mine's Wednesday morning. So as people listen to the show,
- 1:31:41Speaker 4: it's trash day on Wednesday mornings. I need to, I
- 1:31:46Speaker 4: need to go Tuesday nights.
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: And see Sunday. I'm always rushing on Wednesday morning. I'm
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: like sprinting down to the curb. Cause I'm like, Oh,
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: I'm running behind right now.
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:31:56Speaker 4: I just need to do, I need a, I need
- 1:31:58Speaker 4: to make a full transition. Sunday night's been the greatest
- 1:32:01Speaker 4: thing to ever happen to me. It's just such a
- 1:32:03Speaker 4: great reminder. I see all the other ones out on
- 1:32:06Speaker 4: Sunday night because it's just kind of an easier day
- 1:32:09Speaker 4: to remember. It's a slower day. It's a cleaning day.
- 1:32:12Speaker 4: It's like I kind of lucked into it.
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: Yeah. Love that hack, though. Love that hack from Saggy
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: Team 6, from Legend Team 6. From Legend Team 6.
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: And I love that she just enjoys it. That is
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: the Dodd hack. Carry an umbrella.
- 1:32:26Speaker 3: What up, boys?
- 1:32:32Speaker 5: I got a little dad act here.
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: Hey, man.
- 1:32:37Speaker 6: Carry an umbrella.
- 1:32:37Speaker 2: In the truck. All right? It's raining like a son
- 1:32:41Speaker 2: of a bitch out here.
- 1:32:43Speaker 5: And my daughter does not want to get out of
- 1:32:46Speaker 5: the truck.
- 1:32:47Speaker 3: She's like, Daddy, I'm going to get wet.
- 1:32:49Speaker 2: And I said, Baby, don't you worry.
- 1:32:53Speaker 5: I got an idea.
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: I got a little trick up my sleeve.
- 1:32:57Speaker 5: So I get out of the truck, pop open the umbrella.
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: And she's ear to ear grinning.
- 1:33:04Speaker 5: She knows she's not about to get wet. Hey, carry
- 1:33:09Speaker 5: an umbrella in the truck, boys.
- 1:33:11Speaker 3: I forgot, this is Jesse, by the way.
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: Check you later.
- 1:33:17Speaker 4: Now, Jesse, what kind of truck are you driving? Because
- 1:33:19Speaker 4: I can hear that truck in the background. It's got
- 1:33:22Speaker 4: a little, got a little, hopefully it's a Ford.
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: Come on. Come on. The way the blinker was blinking,
- 1:33:28Speaker 2: it sounded like a Ford. What kind of truck you driving?
- 1:33:32Speaker 2: What kind of little truck you got, boy? Pack an umbrella.
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: Pack an umbrella. Pack an umbrella. All right.
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: And that does it for our dad call-ins this week.
- 1:33:44Speaker 4: Our dad call-ins, of course, are presented by Gravely. Click
- 1:33:47Speaker 4: the link in the description below of this episode to
- 1:33:51Speaker 4: find your Gravely motor.
- 1:33:54Speaker 2: You want to hit an email? Yeah.
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: I will rock this email from Rich Molinero. Boys, happy
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: football season. To all go birds. Dad too here in
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: the Philadelphia area. And I had to share my dad
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: loss turned win turned less another month. I sit here
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: on a Friday night silently in the trenches. Wife is
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: away at the girls weekend at a beach. Both boys,
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: four-year-old and nine-month-old, tucked in tight for the night, and
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: I have the quiet house to myself. This is typically
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: time I'd have some college football on and be in
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: my PT fit zone. However, about a month ago, I
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: suffered a concussion. It was a self-inflicted wound, which made
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: the pain emphasized even more, and it's really knocked me
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: off my game. I was at a 500 plus day
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: Peloton streak of either cycling, lifting, walking, or stretching every day.
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: And since then, it's been sporadic to say the least.
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: And as much as an injury pain remains, the ego
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: bruise was even more. Luckily, as I laid in my
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: dark basement off of work during my initial recovery, regretting
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: missing time with the wife and boys, I heard a
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: podcast clip with my favorite Peloton instructor and college game
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: day reporter, Jess Sims, that truly spoke to me. I
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: love an injury and I know that sounds crazy, but
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: it's information. It's part of the process. It's time for
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: you to learn something about your body and maybe your mind.
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: I get so many DMs. What do I do? And
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: I'm like, read a book, figure out why that happened.
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: Let's figure out where the dysfunction is so you can
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: be better for your body and learn from this. Try
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: to spend as little time in the suffering phase of
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: fighting what is and move more into the acceptance phase
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: because it's all happening to you. He drops the link
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: here to click on on YouTube. This is exactly what
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: I needed to hear. I'm so worried about self-imposed streaks
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: and deadlines getting down on myself when really I should
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: just take this time to evaluate, assess the situation, and
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: develop a plan of attack to come out of this
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: a stronger man physically and more devoted man as both
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: a husband and their dad. So to my fellow PT Sixers,
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: let go of those self-imposed burdens. and attempt to be
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: the version of yourself, whatever that looks like, every day.
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: Appreciate you, Willie, Sherm, and especially the boys in the
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: back for the weekly laughs, feedback sessions, and community you've built.
- 1:36:18Speaker 3: Rich.
- 1:36:18Speaker 2: That's a great email. That was a great email. That
- 1:36:23Speaker 2: was a good email. Do you have an email? Do
- 1:36:27Speaker 2: you have an email?
- 1:36:28Speaker 4: Let's go through your mind. I do have an email.
- 1:36:30Speaker 4: I was thinking about my left quad. I honestly was
- 1:36:35Speaker 4: thinking about my left quad. Peter Tantillo. Peter says, to
- 1:36:42Speaker 4: the whole Ford the Dad team, both in front of
- 1:36:44Speaker 4: the camera and behind it, my name is Peter from Pennsylvania.
- 1:36:47Speaker 4: Relatively new PT6er, starting around episode 35, first time commenter,
- 1:36:53Speaker 4: and I am 100% battling in the trenches. This is
- 1:36:57Speaker 4: a sad alert, crack a cold one, lesson of the day,
- 1:37:01Speaker 4: and dad hack wrapped into one. You can call it
- 1:37:03Speaker 4: the whole package. I have two boys. One who's turning
- 1:37:07Speaker 4: one next week on 9-13. Happy belated birthday. My AGAP stud,
- 1:37:14Speaker 4: Theo Jude, weighing almost 27 pounds. And my oldest, Luca,
- 1:37:20Speaker 4: Luca Anthony, turning three in October. Just over a year ago,
- 1:37:24Speaker 4: I got blindsided and let go from my dream job
- 1:37:27Speaker 4: of teaching agriculture to students with no real reason provided.
- 1:37:32Speaker 4: My first words to my wife fighting through my tears
- 1:37:35Speaker 4: on my drive home were, I'm sorry I failed you
- 1:37:37Speaker 4: and the family. My world was turned upside down. I
- 1:37:41Speaker 4: was feeling down on myself and struggling to keep afloat.
- 1:37:44Speaker 4: I felt the shame and guilt of trying to balance work, family, hobbies, etc.,
- 1:37:49Speaker 4: My relationship with my wife was in turmoil. We were
- 1:37:53Speaker 4: at an all-time low questioning how to continue together and
- 1:37:56Speaker 4: contemplating divorce. My struggle was communicating and being there was
- 1:38:01Speaker 4: at an all-time low. We were hostile and resentful toward
- 1:38:05Speaker 4: one another for many other reasons and I was just
- 1:38:08Speaker 4: angry at the world and myself.
- 1:38:10Speaker 2: The issues are.
- 1:38:20Speaker 4: The unnecessary pressure to hold a divorced family together and
- 1:38:24Speaker 4: take care of my younger brother started to show in adulthood.
- 1:38:29Speaker 4: The issues that I saw growing up were starting to
- 1:38:31Speaker 4: have glimpses in my life now. Not knowing what to
- 1:38:34Speaker 4: do or how to open up and talk about my struggles,
- 1:38:37Speaker 4: I started to catch some of your clips on Facebook.
- 1:38:41Speaker 4: I was able to find a new job in the fall,
- 1:38:43Speaker 4: which requires longer drives throughout the week. It took only
- 1:38:47Speaker 4: one episode on Spotify to get hooked and buy into
- 1:38:50Speaker 4: the community. I have done my part to share with
- 1:38:53Speaker 4: my other dad friends, husbands, and friends who are just
- 1:38:57Speaker 4: in relationships with the community and inspiration. You all, they
- 1:39:04Speaker 4: are just as into the relationships in the community and
- 1:39:08Speaker 4: the inspiration that we provide. I have brought other dads
- 1:39:12Speaker 4: merch for holidays, shared clips, and helped grow the community.
- 1:39:17Speaker 4: I've lived my life as someone who goes with the
- 1:39:20Speaker 4: flow and doesn't overly care too much about things, but
- 1:39:22Speaker 4: the podcast put those actions into words with embracing the chaos.
- 1:39:27Speaker 4: I've used this often and keep it in the back
- 1:39:29Speaker 4: of my mind. Um, All the time to keep me grounded.
- 1:39:34Speaker 4: For example, it does not matter that my oldest was
- 1:39:36Speaker 4: so excited and wanted to ride all the carnival rides
- 1:39:39Speaker 4: at the fair. So we spent $ 45 on an all-you-can-ride
- 1:39:42Speaker 4: bracelet for him to ride $ 9 worth and then throw
- 1:39:46Speaker 4: a tantrum and want to go home.
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: Good.
- 1:39:49Speaker 4: Youngest gets an ear infection on our first family weekend vacation.
- 1:39:54Speaker 2: Good.
- 1:39:55Speaker 4: Second family summer vacation weeks later gets another ear infection
- 1:40:00Speaker 4: with a maximum of three hours of sleep each night
- 1:40:03Speaker 4: for six days straight.
- 1:40:04Speaker 2: Good.
- 1:40:05Speaker 4: The words you say and culture you have all created
- 1:40:09Speaker 4: have changed me and saved my family. The crack of
- 1:40:12Speaker 4: cold one moment recently was when my oldest said, I
- 1:40:17Speaker 4: love my family. Growing up in a broken house with
- 1:40:20Speaker 4: separated parents and no true support system as a child,
- 1:40:23Speaker 4: all I want to do in life is give my
- 1:40:25Speaker 4: boys the things I didn't have. Those things are a uniform,
- 1:40:30Speaker 4: safe home where they feel loved every day. I question
- 1:40:35Speaker 4: myself daily, am I good enough? Am I being there
- 1:40:38Speaker 4: for them? Do they feel safe? My fear is that
- 1:40:41Speaker 4: I will repeat what has happened to me. I remember, Sherman,
- 1:40:45Speaker 4: when you got upset with yourself yesterday, When Evie the
- 1:40:48Speaker 4: Brave first appeared on the show, you cried saying your
- 1:40:51Speaker 4: hard times were nothing compared to those. Everyone has their
- 1:40:55Speaker 4: own battles, their own crises, and their own hardships. In
- 1:41:01Speaker 4: that moment, they have their own hardships that are difficult
- 1:41:07Speaker 4: in the moments that they happen. Each one of us
- 1:41:10Speaker 4: has things we are battling that no one else is
- 1:41:12Speaker 4: going through. which holds enough value to be hard. My
- 1:41:15Speaker 4: struggles of not having a great idol or father figure
- 1:41:19Speaker 4: growing up, being recently unemployed for eight months, and having
- 1:41:22Speaker 4: a marriage falling apart in my bubble are my low
- 1:41:26Speaker 4: and my struggle. I try to remind myself the things
- 1:41:30Speaker 4: you all share and preach. You are all great fathers
- 1:41:34Speaker 4: and supporters of one another and truly inspirational. There are
- 1:41:38Speaker 4: things as a father that are non-negotiable. Like locking in
- 1:41:43Speaker 4: when your family needs you and knowing that no one
- 1:41:45Speaker 4: is coming to save you in some moments. Lesson alert.
- 1:41:49Speaker 4: For fathers out there in trying and struggling moments, it
- 1:41:53Speaker 4: does not mean you are alone. This podcast helps shed
- 1:41:56Speaker 4: light on the struggles and highlights of fatherhood. Find another
- 1:42:00Speaker 4: dad close to you and say it out loud. You
- 1:42:02Speaker 4: are never alone. We are in it together. To wrap
- 1:42:05Speaker 4: it up and share the wealth of.
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: My.
- 1:42:10Speaker 2: Share the wealth, my....
- 1:42:13Speaker 4: To wrap it up in share the wealth, my dad
- 1:42:16Speaker 4: hack is for dads. I'm so sorry, guys. No, I'm
- 1:42:29Speaker 4: just trying to get the sentence structure of it. To
- 1:42:34Speaker 4: wrap it up and share the wealth... Thank you. My
- 1:42:36Speaker 4: dad hack is for dads of a single child or
- 1:42:40Speaker 4: dads of multiple kids.
- 1:42:41Speaker 2: The hack that helped me.
- 1:42:42Speaker 4: Assess chaotic situations, triage cries between kids, and help the
- 1:42:48Speaker 4: wife out is popping the bottle up on top of
- 1:42:51Speaker 4: a blanket or pillow and the swing or car seat
- 1:42:54Speaker 4: for the baby to drink. This allows you to free
- 1:42:57Speaker 4: up your hands and clean the dishes, deal with other kids.
- 1:43:03Speaker 4: Deal with the other child, or just give you a
- 1:43:05Speaker 4: second to go to the bathroom. It is an honor
- 1:43:08Speaker 4: to be a part of this group, and thank you,
- 1:43:10Speaker 4: Will Sherman and everyone behind the scenes.
- 1:43:14Speaker 2: Peter Tadillo. Peter, thank you, man.
- 1:43:16Speaker 4: And Peter, I'm so sorry I butchered the end of that.
- 1:43:19Speaker 4: That was a fantastic email.
- 1:43:21Speaker 2: You're good, yeah. Just got to slip the comma in there.
- 1:43:25Speaker 2: Sometimes it can throw you off. Yeah.
- 1:43:27Speaker 4: And appreciate your words on the, like, everybody has their lows. Like,
- 1:43:34Speaker 4: I feel like he was saying, you know, don't compare
- 1:43:38Speaker 4: and despair, even with like the lows, like everybody faces
- 1:43:42Speaker 4: hardships and we're all in it together.
- 1:43:44Speaker 2: No doubt.
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: I thought it was a great message. I love the
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: vibe too, where he's. giving, giving everybody the experience of the,
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: some of the things he's going through. And you can
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: tell too, he's also like writing to himself a little bit.
- 1:43:56Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. So I love that.
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: I have a lesson to sign us off. And this
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: is just a fun one. This is just a fun tweet.
- 1:44:02Speaker 2: From, from Jake. Cause Lowski cause Lowski on Twitter. I
- 1:44:07Speaker 2: just thought this was a funny one.
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: Marry someone you'd enjoy running a small, poorly funded summer
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: camp with that's most of the job.
- 1:44:16Speaker 2: That's that's fantastic. Yeah. I thought that was great. That's fantastic.
- 1:44:21Speaker 2: Caramel apple, lollipop, and ice cream. Absolutely incredible. Unreal. Don't
- 1:44:26Speaker 2: forget to take out your trash.
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: We love you. We'll see you next week. Big hugs,
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: tiny kisses. Papa Team 6 out.
