A U.S. Navy commander, Gabriel Edwards, is now presumed lost at sea after an emergency helicopter landing in the Arabian Sea on July 1st. Despite a massive 14,000-square-mile search effort, the Navy suspended operations on July 5th with no sign of him. Edwards, from Oakland, Oregon, led Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Five aboard the USS George H.W. Bush and was a decorated officer with awards including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal.
