- 0:46Speaker 4: Hello, ladies and gentlemen, This is Carl Lee with Let's Talk.

- 0:53Speaker 4: the building today, Lisa Odie.
- 0:55Speaker 5: And Hollis Lewis. And what's going on?
- 0:57Speaker 4: And I believe Hollis is going to introduce to somebody.
- 1:01Speaker 4: We're gonna start right out with the guest today.
- 1:04Speaker 6: So we have a sports agent and the Southern University
- 1:08Speaker 6: lost in a grad one of my fellow classmates, Paul
- 1:11Speaker 6: de Rusal, No, I did I pronounce your name right,
- 1:14Speaker 6: my brother?
- 1:15Speaker 7: I mean you're almost with it.
- 1:19Speaker 5: I knew we made sure he did it. We didn't
- 1:23Speaker 5: want to message.
- 1:26Speaker 7: How you've been on this time in Louis And I
- 1:28Speaker 7: can't say my name.
- 1:29Speaker 6: Right, I said, you know, I was a sub. I
- 1:32Speaker 6: was a subteacher when I was in law school. And
- 1:35Speaker 6: it just got to a point where I just passed
- 1:36Speaker 6: the pipe. Go ahead and just sign. Now try your name.
- 1:41Speaker 7: You know, it just depends right there. But I say
- 1:45Speaker 7: the rustle if I really want to sound sophisticated, I
- 1:49Speaker 7: got you. I feel like my credit score.
- 1:55Speaker 5: Now. Now we're just going back a little bit. Like
- 1:57Speaker 5: I said, we went to law school together.
- 1:58Speaker 6: You were a Division one athlete, tennis player, and ever since,
- 2:03Speaker 6: you know, when I came in you you wanted to
- 2:05Speaker 6: be I know, you always talked about sports and sports agent,
- 2:07Speaker 6: different things of that nature. And now we're here. You
- 2:10Speaker 6: represent a pretty nice client list. So so how is
- 2:14Speaker 6: that transition, going from being an attorney to now being
- 2:18Speaker 6: a certified sports agent.
- 2:21Speaker 7: I'd say that being an attorney kind of prepared me
- 2:25Speaker 7: for it, you know, doing buildable hours like the movie
- 2:29Speaker 7: Karate Kid, you know, the wack so wax sau Yeah,
- 2:34Speaker 7: doctor view, attending the detailed client relations kind of all
- 2:37Speaker 7: these things. Working at a law firm until a lot
- 2:40Speaker 7: of their skills set translated. And just to be honest,
- 2:43Speaker 7: I feel like, give's your clevel of credibility. When you
- 2:46Speaker 7: walk into a room, you know, people know that the ESQ,
- 2:49Speaker 7: you know that there's some education behind you too, that
- 2:51Speaker 7: you're not, you know, a street agent that they call
- 2:55Speaker 7: a lot of the people. So I think get helped
- 2:57Speaker 7: in a lot of ways from sitting through more mediations,
- 3:01Speaker 7: understanding negotiation tactics, and just honestly just sitting in a
- 3:04Speaker 7: lot of those rooms just prepared to make you realize
- 3:07Speaker 7: it's no stage too big man, never intimidated by anybody.
- 3:11Speaker 4: Yeah, and and and this is Carl Man. How you doing?
- 3:15Speaker 5: So what's up? I'm I'm I'm.
- 3:18Speaker 4: Every agent that I had was actually a you gotta
- 3:20Speaker 4: tell them you you NFL. Well, I'm a former NFL guy.
- 3:23Speaker 4: Played for the Vikings. I played from eighty three to
- 3:26Speaker 4: ninety four. I finished my career with UH with the
- 3:30Speaker 4: New Orleans Saints. And yeah, so fortunately for me, I
- 3:36Speaker 4: ran into I had a couple of buddies who played
- 3:39Speaker 4: and they had an They had a guy that was
- 3:41Speaker 4: an agent and he was an attorney, and I knew
- 3:46Speaker 4: some other guys who had jumped in with some other
- 3:49Speaker 4: guys who were just the streets.
- 3:52Speaker 5: They were the street agent, you know.
- 3:54Speaker 4: And and I don't I don't want to necessarily say
- 3:57Speaker 4: that that was a that was a that was a
- 3:58Speaker 4: bad deal. But one of the things that I felt
- 4:02Speaker 4: that when you have an agent that's actually an attorney,
- 4:05Speaker 4: when you get into the room on the negotiating piece
- 4:08Speaker 4: of it and all of the other personal life lessons
- 4:12Speaker 4: and things like that, having that a guy that's an
- 4:15Speaker 4: attorney is a huge benefit. That guy who's just gonna
- 4:19Speaker 4: go in and try to get you a million dollars
- 4:20Speaker 4: on your contract, there's a whole lot more to that.
- 4:24Speaker 5: Wouldn't you agree with that? Yeah?
- 4:26Speaker 7: I think, well, first off, I don't. I think that's
- 4:31Speaker 7: just being an attorney just a certain degree. Man. It's
- 4:35Speaker 7: just so you said, you you're versatile. You can do
- 4:38Speaker 7: a lot of things more than just be an agent.
- 4:40Speaker 7: And you know, sometimes you can help advise on business
- 4:42Speaker 7: deals and review certain uh like you know with the
- 4:45Speaker 7: Nike contract key on, and I just got that I
- 4:47Speaker 7: was able to point out certain inconsistencies. You know. I
- 4:51Speaker 7: just think your eye is trained for it. But I
- 4:53Speaker 7: don't want to say that it's a lot of great
- 4:55Speaker 7: agents that aren't attorneys too, so I want to be
- 4:58Speaker 7: clear on it, right, Right, some of that is just
- 5:01Speaker 7: based on who you are. There's like it's terrible agents
- 5:03Speaker 7: that are attorneys, so right for me, being an attorney
- 5:08Speaker 7: help because you trained my eye to certain things. But
- 5:10Speaker 7: I do think, you know, there's people who got MBA's
- 5:12Speaker 7: right and finance backgrounds and other things they kind of
- 5:15Speaker 7: translate and make them serviceable and great agentsies work.
- 5:19Speaker 8: Hey, Paul, this is Lisa, thanks for coming on the
- 5:22Speaker 8: podcast tonight. Hey, so I'm going to go outside of
- 5:26Speaker 8: what we're talking about right now and just kind of
- 5:28Speaker 8: talk about in general.
- 5:29Speaker 9: Question about conflict. I'm sure as a sports agent.
- 5:32Speaker 8: You run into that, you know, probably on a daily basis,
- 5:36Speaker 8: if not weekly. So how do you handle like when
- 5:39Speaker 8: you have a conflict or a disagreement between clients and teams?
- 5:43Speaker 9: What's your strategies to kind of handle that?
- 5:47Speaker 7: I Mean, the first thing is, like I understand that
- 5:50Speaker 7: is the nature of the business. I think a lot
- 5:51Speaker 7: of times conflicts escalate because people are a lot of things,
- 5:55Speaker 7: you know, to get personal, right. I think one of
- 5:57Speaker 7: the things I understand is that I'm a big picture thinker. Right,
- 6:00Speaker 7: So there's a conflict between a team and a player.
- 6:03Speaker 7: I understand that these teams are run by billionaires, right,
- 6:08Speaker 7: most of us who have business backgrounds. So I understand
- 6:11Speaker 7: that a lot of times, while you do look at
- 6:14Speaker 7: players as people, sometimes they're viewed as commodities, and you know,
- 6:19Speaker 7: it's business. So I understand going into it any conflict
- 6:24Speaker 7: that I try to look at it through the other
- 6:25Speaker 7: person's lens while also advocating for our client and doing
- 6:30Speaker 7: with in my client's best interest at all times. So
- 6:33Speaker 7: I think I just try to navigate that through clear
- 6:36Speaker 7: conversation by For example, you might have a player with
- 6:39Speaker 7: an injury settlement, for example, that's probably one of the
- 6:42Speaker 7: more common common conflict injury settlement workers comp type stuff,
- 6:46Speaker 7: and they might believe it to be a five week injury,
- 6:48Speaker 7: so they'll pay you this amount of times the length
- 6:51Speaker 7: of the injury they believe it to be. Whereas you
- 6:54Speaker 7: go get a second opinion and do all these type things,
- 6:56Speaker 7: I just think the better you do at having a
- 7:00Speaker 7: paper trail and making an intelligent argument as opposed to
- 7:04Speaker 7: an emotional one, one that's couched in fact and that
- 7:07Speaker 7: can be proven as best as you can. You got
- 7:10Speaker 7: to shout in all all these conflicts, and also you
- 7:13Speaker 7: just want to be a professional throughout it.
- 7:16Speaker 9: Thank you.
- 7:17Speaker 5: That's perfect.
- 7:17Speaker 6: So let me ask you this, Like a lot of
- 7:19Speaker 6: times when we you know, a lame, a laming person
- 7:22Speaker 6: who doesn't really you know, know the business slash sports world,
- 7:26Speaker 6: when they think of agents, they think of like agents
- 7:28Speaker 6: being involved in every aspect of a player's life and
- 7:31Speaker 6: kind of, you know, ride with that person through whatever,
- 7:36Speaker 6: you know, personal and or business. So what is kind
- 7:39Speaker 6: of like a day to day or is it mostly
- 7:41Speaker 6: just that excuse me, negotiating contracts or are you kind
- 7:46Speaker 6: of involved in sort of like an advisor role to
- 7:49Speaker 6: you know, life in general whatever.
- 7:51Speaker 7: I first wanted to say that, it's kind of like
- 7:52Speaker 7: any of y'all got.
- 7:53Speaker 10: Kids, Yeah, yeah, and I'm going through where with this,
- 7:57Speaker 10: I think that there's no like you might have one kid,
- 8:01Speaker 10: Like my sister calls my mama every day, where I
- 8:04Speaker 10: suldn't only call my mama if I need something.
- 8:07Speaker 7: So it's kind of like with with athletes, it just
- 8:11Speaker 7: depends on where they are in their career as to
- 8:13Speaker 7: what your role will be. I got four guys in
- 8:15Speaker 7: the draft right now, so I'm talking to them a
- 8:19Speaker 7: lot more right, helping navigate through visits, evaluating rosters should
- 8:24Speaker 7: they fall out of Day three of that draft. Whereas
- 8:26Speaker 7: with Key On our conversations are a little different because
- 8:29Speaker 7: you know, he's just training right now, getting ready to
- 8:32Speaker 7: go to OTA's and stuff. So no day is the same.
- 8:36Speaker 7: If you're in contract negotiation season where you got a
- 8:39Speaker 7: guy that's getting ready to go into free agency, those
- 8:42Speaker 7: conversations look different. If you got a you know, a
- 8:44Speaker 7: rookie or veteran like a Jeffrey Simmons, he ain't got
- 8:47Speaker 7: nothing to do for the next three years for real,
- 8:49Speaker 7: So you're just showing up his events, supporting them, just
- 8:52Speaker 7: being being there, pulling up the game, maybe just just
- 8:55Speaker 7: flying out the nasvilla, grabbing dinner. All of your players
- 8:58Speaker 7: are going to have a different personality, and I think
- 9:01Speaker 7: some agents go wrong because you can't be the same
- 9:03Speaker 7: person for everybody. For example, Key Coleman called me ten
- 9:07Speaker 7: times a day. You know receiver as Marcus Banks in Tampa.
- 9:14Speaker 7: He's my frat brother. He's twenty four years old. A
- 9:16Speaker 7: little bit further along, he gonna call me and he
- 9:20Speaker 7: might talk about the territs that are going on, you know.
- 9:25Speaker 7: So I think part of being a great agent is
- 9:27Speaker 7: just understanding what role you have to play in that
- 9:31Speaker 7: player's life and asking them what are the expectations of
- 9:34Speaker 7: you and what did they need from you? You know
- 9:36Speaker 7: what I mean. Some players want you to come to
- 9:38Speaker 7: as many games as you can. Other guys like now,
- 9:40Speaker 7: man just pull up with me on my off day,
- 9:42Speaker 7: which is Tuesday.
- 9:45Speaker 6: And I'm looking at this number for Jeffrey Simmons that
- 9:47Speaker 6: he did for a little while.
- 9:49Speaker 5: So I looked at that number, I said, okay, right.
- 9:55Speaker 4: And you know, and what's interesting to me about listening
- 9:59Speaker 4: listening to you, you know, and I'm sitting here as
- 10:01Speaker 4: you as you're talking about the relationship, and I'm thinking
- 10:04Speaker 4: to myself about the relationship that I have with the
- 10:08Speaker 4: guy who who I worked with like like to like
- 10:12Speaker 4: at any part in time, anything that happens in my
- 10:14Speaker 4: life today, like I'm likely to call him and have
- 10:19Speaker 4: a conversation with him and say, hey, I'm trying to
- 10:21Speaker 4: do this.
- 10:22Speaker 5: Like it.
- 10:23Speaker 4: It really does become almost I want to say, like
- 10:28Speaker 4: a father figure, almost, even though it's not.
- 10:31Speaker 5: You know, the age is not much different.
- 10:33Speaker 4: But the things that I'm needing, I know that he's
- 10:36Speaker 4: going to have the answers or he's gonna go find him.
- 10:39Speaker 4: You know, he's going to come back and call me
- 10:41Speaker 4: and say, hey, look yeah, I think what we need
- 10:43Speaker 4: to do is we need to do it this.
- 10:44Speaker 5: Way, that way, da da da da.
- 10:46Speaker 4: And I think that the average person doesn't have that
- 10:52Speaker 4: that luxury. I don't think and and and I think
- 10:55Speaker 4: you know, when you when you think about it, like
- 10:57Speaker 4: people like you, man, I don't know if you really
- 11:00Speaker 4: understand like how relative and how important that that is
- 11:04Speaker 4: to guys like me, you know, because.
- 11:07Speaker 5: We need that.
- 11:09Speaker 7: Yeah, And I think a lot of you know, I
- 11:12Speaker 7: don't want to turn off any of your viewers here,
- 11:15Speaker 7: but I think a lot of that is just for me.
- 11:17Speaker 7: You get into this business if you're a Christian before
- 11:20Speaker 7: you're an agent, which I am, it's about it's about.
- 11:23Speaker 5: Service, right right.
- 11:26Speaker 7: So if the main thing and your main purpose in
- 11:29Speaker 7: life is for God, you get this opportunity and he
- 11:31Speaker 7: gives you this platform. You want to help people. You know,
- 11:34Speaker 7: people get caught up in this agent stuff and they
- 11:36Speaker 7: think about, oh, I saw you on the sideline. You
- 11:38Speaker 7: did a hundred million dollars deal, key hun Kole and
- 11:40Speaker 7: Jeffrey Simmons. At its core, I'm helping a young man navigate,
- 11:45Speaker 7: no different than a school teacher, right then, So it's
- 11:49Speaker 7: so many of those things are already in you. Is
- 11:52Speaker 7: as I have the title of an agent. You know,
- 11:54Speaker 7: you're an advisor, you're a friend, you're a confident. You
- 11:57Speaker 7: know a lot of the bodies are buried, you know.
- 12:02Speaker 7: I think you have to want that. I think to
- 12:07Speaker 7: who much is given, much is required. So, like you
- 12:09Speaker 7: said about your agent, I enjoyed being counted on. I
- 12:13Speaker 7: enjoyed being depended on. I enjoy you know that, kid,
- 12:17Speaker 7: love giving the answers to the test of other people.
- 12:19Speaker 7: You know, my home was a lot of them passed
- 12:21Speaker 7: because of me. I enjoyed it right right, So for you,
- 12:25Speaker 7: for you to revere your agent so much, that means
- 12:28Speaker 7: they're doing something right. And I think that's all you want.
- 12:31Speaker 7: You want to want to be that. But now on
- 12:33Speaker 7: the other side of that, I think I do a
- 12:36Speaker 7: really good job of trying to empower those guys. For example,
- 12:39Speaker 7: my my rookies. I don't call back the team and
- 12:44Speaker 7: set up their zooms or I said, no, man, you're
- 12:47Speaker 7: a grown man. You I can tell you what to say,
- 12:50Speaker 7: but I want these teams to understand that you can
- 12:53Speaker 7: hold you can handle some of your own business because
- 12:55Speaker 7: what you're in the meetings. You know, there's a fine
- 12:57Speaker 7: line between guidance and hindering and handicap and I think
- 13:02Speaker 7: you got to find that right because you're still your
- 13:04Speaker 7: own business. You your players. You want them to keep
- 13:08Speaker 7: you around because obviously you add value, but you don't
- 13:10Speaker 7: want to become too much of a crutch to where
- 13:12Speaker 7: they don't grow. And that's the hard point, right you know,
- 13:17Speaker 7: I don't know you're for louis Ina we Boil croff
- 13:20Speaker 7: is here, right, Yeah, you know to get some of that,
- 13:24Speaker 7: I had to learn to feel my own crafts at
- 13:26Speaker 7: some point.
- 13:27Speaker 4: Well, okay, so let me ask this question because as
- 13:30Speaker 4: as you were talking, I'm sitting there and I'm thinking
- 13:32Speaker 4: about like different situations.
- 13:34Speaker 5: And we had a really difficult general manager. His name
- 13:38Speaker 5: was Mike. Lenny's passed away and you know call him
- 13:40Speaker 5: coach him.
- 13:43Speaker 4: I mean, I mean, he was for sure, without any question,
- 13:46Speaker 4: he was a racial type and one of the one of.
- 13:52Speaker 7: The expected dudes.
- 13:54Speaker 5: I don't I don't.
- 13:55Speaker 4: Really have a good filter, so so you know, one
- 13:59Speaker 4: of the things he would he would tell you like
- 14:02Speaker 4: like if you didn't, if you if you didn't take
- 14:04Speaker 4: his offer, Like so he throws an offer right out there,
- 14:06Speaker 4: and nobody takes the first offer. You know that nobody
- 14:09Speaker 4: takes the first offer. So he would tell you, if
- 14:14Speaker 4: you don't like my offer, go drive a bus, now,
- 14:19Speaker 4: you know, and and and again I'm coming through you know,
- 14:22Speaker 4: eighty three, eighty four, eighty five. But you can't say that.
- 14:25Speaker 4: You can't say that to me. Why do I got
- 14:27Speaker 4: to go drive a bus? If I don't, if I
- 14:28Speaker 4: don't play ball, what what's going? And I and I
- 14:32Speaker 4: try to look at this now if I don't have
- 14:36Speaker 4: if I don't have an agent in that room at
- 14:39Speaker 4: some point in time, like like, I don't know if
- 14:42Speaker 4: that that works out for me, right, you know what
- 14:44Speaker 4: I'm saying. And you so, I'm wondering if you've been
- 14:47Speaker 4: in that kind of a situation where there's that guy.
- 14:50Speaker 4: And I'm not saying I'm that guy, but you you
- 14:52Speaker 4: have that guy that you have to kind of sit
- 14:54Speaker 4: in to have that conversation because that general manager might
- 14:58Speaker 4: say something off the and or maybe they don't.
- 15:01Speaker 5: Say it like that.
- 15:02Speaker 7: Now I don't think they say it but but to
- 15:09Speaker 7: your point that there's definitely still some of those those
- 15:12Speaker 7: overtoes or whatever you want, because you know, like I said,
- 15:15Speaker 7: sometimes they view the athletes as commodities that they can
- 15:18Speaker 7: just replace, they just go out. So there is a
- 15:22Speaker 7: little bit of that, right, not wanting people to get
- 15:24Speaker 7: their worse. I mean, they're trying to save the owner
- 15:26Speaker 7: as much money as possible. That's really what they're trying
- 15:29Speaker 7: to do. If we think about it's trying to get
- 15:30Speaker 7: the cheapest labor, get the most out of you, and
- 15:34Speaker 7: pay you the minimum amount until they absolutely have to
- 15:36Speaker 7: pay you. You know. So I think the role of
- 15:40Speaker 7: the agent, as I said earlier, it's to stay calm
- 15:43Speaker 7: and make the player understand that it's not personal. But
- 15:46Speaker 7: it's so hard not to feel personal. You know, I'm
- 15:49Speaker 7: not the one getting hit, right, I get out of
- 15:52Speaker 7: the bed just perfect. I can still duck the basketball.
- 15:56Speaker 7: You know. It's being able to empathize and also trying
- 16:01Speaker 7: to make them understand like, yo, this is a seventy
- 16:02Speaker 7: eight year old owner from West Texas. Bro he don't
- 16:06Speaker 7: you know. That's a lot of it is how you
- 16:08Speaker 7: were raised, you know.
- 16:09Speaker 6: So I'm looking at you, I'm looking at you your
- 16:12Speaker 6: client list, and you mentioned some of the names Jeffrey
- 16:14Speaker 6: Simmons from Tennessee, uh Keyon Coleman Buffalo, Terrell Shaver's Buffalo,
- 16:19Speaker 6: Marcus Banks, you know, Tampa Bay and what I'm impressed by, Like,
- 16:23Speaker 6: I remember when you know, watching you online, he was
- 16:25Speaker 6: trying to break and get in the game. And now
- 16:27Speaker 6: we're here and you mentioned you got four other rookies.
- 16:29Speaker 6: So what's the process now for acquiring clients. Is it
- 16:34Speaker 6: you soliciting or you getting solicited from from from players
- 16:38Speaker 6: and their families.
- 16:39Speaker 7: It's a combination, right, I think you know I could
- 16:43Speaker 7: speak to like, for example, my last year's draft players.
- 16:47Speaker 7: You know, you got Calling Vigors from Eunus, Louisiana, and
- 16:50Speaker 7: he's from where I'm from.
- 16:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:52Speaker 7: Aiden Huntington was a teammate of called it so a
- 16:54Speaker 7: lot of the stuff, man, Yeah, some people. I didn't
- 16:57Speaker 7: realize how connected I was to people. And sometimes when
- 16:59Speaker 7: you do a really good job and you have a
- 17:01Speaker 7: social media presence and people see that the acumen is there,
- 17:04Speaker 7: they get a little intrigued. Feel like anybody, if I
- 17:08Speaker 7: get a fair chance in any room, you know, I
- 17:11Speaker 7: feel like I'm as good as anybody. So a lot
- 17:15Speaker 7: of a lot of my clients come from referral, A
- 17:19Speaker 7: lot of it becomes geographically being from southwest Louisiana. Kind
- 17:22Speaker 7: of these kids grow up knowing who I am now
- 17:24Speaker 7: because I've been blessed. You know, when you got a
- 17:26Speaker 7: superstar like ke Coleman.
- 17:27Speaker 5: Let's just call it it is.
- 17:31Speaker 7: Let's just be honest. You know, all your clients matter,
- 17:33Speaker 7: but you know, the kids from where we're from, from
- 17:35Speaker 7: the same place, so they you know that that's built
- 17:39Speaker 7: in it. And one thing about he gonna say my
- 17:40Speaker 7: name in rooms that I'm not in.
- 17:42Speaker 5: He's nice, He's a humble kid, So I like him
- 17:44Speaker 5: a lot.
- 17:45Speaker 7: He's gonna say my name anywhere. So you want to
- 17:47Speaker 7: you know, you want to do that level. You want
- 17:49Speaker 7: to solicit, But the best solicitation is doing good work.
- 17:53Speaker 8: Yes, yes, hey Lisa again, I know Hollis just he
- 17:58Speaker 8: kind of named all some of you or more prominent
- 18:00Speaker 8: clients that you are representing here in the present. But
- 18:05Speaker 8: how many contracts do you think you've negotiated over the
- 18:07Speaker 8: years total, Like what.
- 18:09Speaker 7: Do you see as a legal career? And yes, yes,
- 18:13Speaker 7: well we one hundreds. Wow, you know, because you know
- 18:16Speaker 7: I did a lot of mediations when I was an
- 18:18Speaker 7: up and coming attorney at a big firm. Okay, so
- 18:21Speaker 7: I've done a lot of negotiations, you know, like on paper,
- 18:23Speaker 7: maybe I negotiated nine, maybe ten, fifteen NFL contact Sure,
- 18:28Speaker 7: you know, like I said, my first time at the
- 18:30Speaker 7: big boyd table for really we got one hundred for.
- 18:32Speaker 8: M Did you get to say did you get to
- 18:34Speaker 8: say show me the money?
- 18:37Speaker 7: You know what about that news came out of it
- 18:42Speaker 7: on Good Friday in Louisiana. Yeah, it was one of
- 18:45Speaker 7: the one of the best days of my life. Wow,
- 18:48Speaker 7: to see the look on your client's face.
- 18:51Speaker 5: Come on, I remember that. I'm watching that so so.
- 18:54Speaker 6: So like now you know, kind of where can people
- 18:58Speaker 6: find you at? Where can they you know, what's your
- 19:00Speaker 6: social media? Where can people keep up with you?
- 19:03Speaker 7: Well, you know the cool thing, man, they can always
- 19:05Speaker 7: find me at the agent Paul on Instagram. I'm still
- 19:10Speaker 7: independent right now, you know, as you know how all
- 19:13Speaker 7: these big agencies calling me. Yeah, yeah, I'm cool right now.
- 19:17Speaker 7: You know, I'm in a good space. You know, I
- 19:19Speaker 7: know that day will come, but I'm gonna just keep
- 19:21Speaker 7: stacking up and having quality players and if we move
- 19:24Speaker 7: we move as a unit, one band, one sound.
- 19:27Speaker 6: Now is there any thoughts of maybe like going like expanding,
- 19:30Speaker 6: going to different sports?
- 19:31Speaker 5: Are you just kind of locked in with the NFL
- 19:32Speaker 5: right now?
- 19:33Speaker 7: Oh no, no, No, I'd love to do basketball. I'd love
- 19:36Speaker 7: to represent coaches down the road. I want to keep growing,
- 19:39Speaker 7: but I want to grow at the correct pace. I
- 19:41Speaker 7: think the biggest mistake you can make is to allow
- 19:44Speaker 7: other people to dictate how you move. Like about it
- 19:47Speaker 7: in basketball, what they said, a great point, gud. You
- 19:48Speaker 7: can't speed them up, play at their own speed. Like
- 19:51Speaker 7: nothing you can do to make them rush, make them
- 19:54Speaker 7: take a bet. And That's where I'm at right now.
- 19:56Speaker 7: I kind of just take my time, just just be
- 20:00Speaker 7: because you should. Just because you could doesn't mean you should.
- 20:02Speaker 5: Yes, exact, I love that.
- 20:04Speaker 7: I'm gonna just keep building man, day by day and
- 20:07Speaker 7: doing right by the players that I do have, and
- 20:11Speaker 7: keep you know, keep stacking man. That's really all I
- 20:13Speaker 7: can do.
- 20:14Speaker 4: Hey, man, just just again, just from somebody who's been
- 20:17Speaker 4: in that situation and have watched different people, good bad
- 20:21Speaker 4: and in different just hearing you and and and hearing
- 20:26Speaker 4: the passion in what you have. But I can appreciate
- 20:29Speaker 4: who you are what you're doing, and I'm sure that
- 20:31Speaker 4: the guys that you are representing will all do well
- 20:35Speaker 4: because of who you are. And Bro, I'm telling you now,
- 20:37Speaker 4: don't change be that dude, because that'll that'll that'll work
- 20:40Speaker 4: for you because players like that kind of that that
- 20:42Speaker 4: kind of person, that true person that you can really
- 20:44Speaker 4: deal with.
- 20:46Speaker 7: I mean, you you blessed right the way I look
- 20:48Speaker 7: at it, Man, it's a blessing. I know what it's
- 20:51Speaker 7: like to have no clients, right, and I remember them nights,
- 20:54Speaker 7: you know, just crying knowing I as good as everybody,
- 20:57Speaker 7: but I realized, you know, you got to go through
- 20:59Speaker 7: a process to make you appreciate it. So I'm just
- 21:01Speaker 7: as appreciative of a sixth round pick as I am
- 21:04Speaker 7: a first round pick. Third round. You gotta love them
- 21:08Speaker 7: all the same, and you might have to love them
- 21:10Speaker 7: differently because every player got a different love language, you know,
- 21:15Speaker 7: but you love them all the same. You treat your
- 21:17Speaker 7: top of the roster guys saying, well, you treat the
- 21:19Speaker 7: god fighting for a fifty three right, Well.
- 21:21Speaker 5: You know, I'm looking for an agent for my forty
- 21:24Speaker 5: five U team.
- 21:25Speaker 7: So mannar, I'm not a aar.
- 21:36Speaker 5: Hey man, I really appreciate you, man, It's been excellent. Yeah,
- 21:39Speaker 5: I appreciate it, man, Thank you so much.
- 21:41Speaker 7: I got a question to know for my man who
- 21:43Speaker 7: played for the Vikings though.
- 21:45Speaker 5: Yes, sir Carl Lee, what years you played, bro? I
- 21:48Speaker 5: came in in eighty three.
- 21:50Speaker 4: I was a seventh round pick, and.
- 21:55Speaker 5: And my career went from eighty three to ninety four.
- 21:58Speaker 4: I ended up with Yeah, well he played one year. Yeah,
- 22:03Speaker 4: one year with the Saints. I played one year with
- 22:04Speaker 4: the Saints.
- 22:05Speaker 7: But you know, it's crazy. You went seven round back
- 22:08Speaker 7: in the day when they used to have like twelve rounds,
- 22:09Speaker 7: so technically you were kind of like a like a
- 22:12Speaker 7: third round.
- 22:12Speaker 6: Yeah, man, don't tell this man, Man, you don't tell him, man.
- 22:17Speaker 4: Brother, it really it really, it really to me when
- 22:23Speaker 4: I when I you know, at that pick, you know, I.
- 22:26Speaker 5: Didn't know where it was, what it was, but there
- 22:30Speaker 5: was a whole lot it was.
- 22:31Speaker 4: It was still a challenge because again I'm trying to
- 22:34Speaker 4: play a corner position that I really hadn't played.
- 22:37Speaker 5: I was a safety, but it.
- 22:39Speaker 4: Was it was it was the challenge of seeing all
- 22:43Speaker 4: the different people, you know, and and I had a
- 22:45Speaker 4: buddy from LSU, Willie till who's who's down in baton rouge.
- 22:51Speaker 5: He kind of really took.
- 22:52Speaker 4: Me under the wing and kind of got me going
- 22:54Speaker 4: and helped me a whole bunch.
- 22:57Speaker 7: Man.
- 22:57Speaker 4: And I can give him a little props too, just
- 22:59Speaker 4: because of having somebody that that that played that position
- 23:03Speaker 4: who was a buddy of mine. We always lived in
- 23:05Speaker 4: the same apartment complex. So I got to get my
- 23:08Speaker 4: hats off to him as well.
- 23:10Speaker 7: Hey, so you you couldn't so you played, say you
- 23:12Speaker 7: couldn't turn them hell slaying? Well, why they had you
- 23:14Speaker 7: a safety in that corner?
- 23:15Speaker 5: Well, I play safety.
- 23:17Speaker 4: I play safety in college at Marshall and uh and
- 23:20Speaker 4: and and I have to I'm gonna pat myself on
- 23:22Speaker 4: the back because I was a him.
- 23:24Speaker 5: I was. I was I was.
- 23:27Speaker 4: I was physical, you know, I was physical and and
- 23:31Speaker 4: so I was more of a safety type. But then
- 23:34Speaker 4: I get to I get my opportunity to play corner
- 23:36Speaker 4: with Pete Carroll. He comes in and and puts us
- 23:39Speaker 4: through the whole bump and run thing.
- 23:40Speaker 5: Man, And then my my career just jumped off.
- 23:42Speaker 7: Man.
- 23:43Speaker 5: I just you know, yeah, so I played with Pete Carroll, Yes.
- 23:46Speaker 7: Son, he was then too.
- 23:51Speaker 4: Man, you I'm telling you but he turned our he
- 23:54Speaker 4: turned our defense or I'll.
- 23:57Speaker 5: Say that for sure, the secondary.
- 23:58Speaker 4: But we had a we had a defensive ordinative brother
- 24:00Speaker 4: that was just blitz blitz blitz. So, Bro, we're playing
- 24:03Speaker 4: man the man every almost every down, and Bro, that's
- 24:08Speaker 4: Jerry Rice Era.
- 24:09Speaker 7: That's all them does look I know, I look see
- 24:14Speaker 7: she's trying to rust us off the foor. I love Boston,
- 24:16Speaker 7: of though. My last question in the hold on.
- 24:18Speaker 5: Okay, you didn't. We ain't got nothing. We're gonna talking
- 24:23Speaker 5: about something.
- 24:24Speaker 9: He's interviewing Carl. Tables have turned.
- 24:29Speaker 7: I'm doing I'm doing media. When I get done with there,
- 24:32Speaker 7: you got I retire. But so did you? Were you
- 24:35Speaker 7: with the Vikings for what? Through what? Years?
- 24:39Speaker 5: Eighty three to ninety three?
- 24:43Speaker 7: All right, so pitts of this? You know how like
- 24:46Speaker 7: you have certain core memories as a child that you
- 24:48Speaker 7: cannot forget? Yes, all right, So Christmas nineteen eighty nine, Okay,
- 24:54Speaker 7: I'm gonna take you somewhere, Okay, okay, young bro. I
- 24:58Speaker 7: was like, maybe it's three. I'm telling my age. I was,
- 25:01Speaker 7: and we were Monday night football was on the and
- 25:04Speaker 7: the Vikings were playing on Christmas night on a Monday night,
- 25:07Speaker 7: and I don't know why I remember it is, but
- 25:09Speaker 7: I cannot forget it. Do you remember that?
- 25:13Speaker 5: I No, I don't.
- 25:15Speaker 4: I'm sure that we played on on on on.
- 25:18Speaker 5: One of those days.
- 25:20Speaker 7: I know you played on Christmas, on Christmas, I.
- 25:23Speaker 5: Get it, Christmas, Thanksgiving all that.
- 25:25Speaker 4: I don't like, we played a bunch of games on
- 25:27Speaker 4: on on different times.
- 25:28Speaker 5: I don't really like.
- 25:29Speaker 4: I can't pull out a game or a situation where
- 25:33Speaker 4: I could say that I actually played.
- 25:35Speaker 5: Unfortunately, I don't have that memory. And you can. You
- 25:37Speaker 5: can blame that on the contact.
- 25:43Speaker 4: Trust you all good.
- 25:46Speaker 7: You played on that on that hard, concrete.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Term.
- 25:56Speaker 7: And I know, like everybody I ever talked to from
- 25:58Speaker 7: your era, like the Ogs, they think they're like, man,
- 26:01Speaker 7: these receivers just get to run across the middle and
- 26:03Speaker 7: gallivant that boy.
- 26:07Speaker 4: And I say that here like all the time, like
- 26:11Speaker 4: there's just simply no way that a receiver in the
- 26:15Speaker 4: league now is gonna catch a slam And bro, I'm
- 26:18Speaker 4: not gonna go across his head. Say that a lot,
- 26:20Speaker 4: you know, Yeah, you said, I'm just there's just no way.
- 26:22Speaker 4: And I get it, Like now that's gonna be fifteen.
- 26:25Speaker 4: But back then, that was gonna be fear for the receiver,
- 26:29Speaker 4: you know, you know we was, you know back in
- 26:31Speaker 4: those days. Brother like you, you know you talking like
- 26:36Speaker 4: putting fear in somebody's mind so that they don't do
- 26:40Speaker 4: this again.
- 26:41Speaker 5: That was the whole thought process of defense. You know.
- 26:44Speaker 4: You start talking about something, you talk about like somebody
- 26:48Speaker 4: like lt Bro, like he ain't trying to just hit
- 26:51Speaker 4: you and bring you down, trying to intimidate you to
- 26:54Speaker 4: when you don't ever come back that way.
- 26:57Speaker 5: And I think that's the difference in where the game
- 26:59Speaker 5: is gone.
- 27:00Speaker 4: No for sure, and I can't and I and I
- 27:03Speaker 4: don't mean that in a bad way because you know,
- 27:05Speaker 4: safety is safety is important and all that kind of stuff,
- 27:09Speaker 4: you know. But if someone asked me if I would
- 27:12Speaker 4: go back and do it again, knowing that my memory
- 27:15Speaker 4: is horrible, I would say absolutely, I would do it
- 27:18Speaker 4: without a question. I would I stand with my hand
- 27:22Speaker 4: up to say, I want to be first in line.
- 27:25Speaker 7: Hey man, I respected, but love of the love, love
- 27:28Speaker 7: of the game. Man, sir, man, I'm young, I'm younger
- 27:33Speaker 7: than you, but like I got an old soul.
- 27:35Speaker 4: Man, I'm with you, and and I appreciate I appreciate
- 27:39Speaker 4: the money you know, and I had loved to have
- 27:41Speaker 4: made that money.
- 27:43Speaker 5: But but if you love the.
- 27:45Speaker 4: Money and you can't love the game with the with
- 27:49Speaker 4: the intensity of wanting to be something, want somebody to
- 27:55Speaker 4: call your name out by, you're missing it.
- 27:58Speaker 5: That's what we're gonna talk about. We sure are.
- 28:04Speaker 7: I'm knowing you gotta hell, you gotta love this stuff.
- 28:07Speaker 7: You almost made me curtains.
- 28:10Speaker 5: And that's one thing I can say about Paul.
- 28:12Speaker 6: Ever since I know that he was in law school,
- 28:13Speaker 6: he always had a really love for sports. He thinks
- 28:17Speaker 6: sports related, always talking about it, doing it, but playing
- 28:19Speaker 6: flag football, just talking about it in the last centers,
- 28:22Speaker 6: always a football.
- 28:24Speaker 7: Hey, I'm gonna tell you something. I hope Marcus the
- 28:28Speaker 7: Lord is listening to this. I was unguardable, bro. I was,
- 28:33Speaker 7: you know, like six two and a half, not a
- 28:35Speaker 7: real burner. But they described me like a white guy,
- 28:42Speaker 7: you know, first the first guy in the room type guy.
- 28:50Speaker 8: Okay, Paul needs to be a stand up comedian. Get
- 28:54Speaker 8: the immedia style, just get straight on the stage.
- 28:58Speaker 4: That's so somebody you six two.
- 29:03Speaker 5: Division one in this division one? Okay, in a quarter
- 29:09Speaker 5: I am pointed the quarters off. Okay, So now if
- 29:13Speaker 5: you were to played football? What what?
- 29:15Speaker 7: What?
- 29:15Speaker 4: What?
- 29:15Speaker 5: What?
- 29:16Speaker 4: So are you saying that you would would you be
- 29:18Speaker 4: a receiver? Is that what you're saying?
- 29:20Speaker 7: I mean, wait a minute, now, you should.
- 29:23Speaker 5: You should be quick with that.
- 29:24Speaker 7: Answer that no no, no no, I gotta get I gotta provide,
- 29:27Speaker 7: contay provide.
- 29:30Speaker 5: Okay, I'm waiting it.
- 29:32Speaker 7: I would really want to be like the you Donna's
- 29:34Speaker 7: Haslam of the NFL, like, don't play, just get to
- 29:37Speaker 7: walk around and be in it. I guess you to tapling.
- 29:45Speaker 9: I think playing that part loud.
- 29:48Speaker 4: Oh gosh, So you want to be on the side.
- 29:52Speaker 7: I just want to put on a uniform, run out,
- 29:56Speaker 7: kiss my family before the game, you know, like you
- 29:59Speaker 7: know in the family, if you on.
- 30:00Speaker 11: The sideline, to be whiter than the okay, okay, wow,
- 30:16Speaker 11: because one other position, I can't play dB, I won't
- 30:20Speaker 11: get cooked back as a receiver.
- 30:21Speaker 7: I can at least go out there and block or
- 30:23Speaker 7: do something like for Tim to be busy on outside.
- 30:27Speaker 5: Why you gotta say the DV gotta get beat d
- 30:31Speaker 5: what we all did.
- 30:33Speaker 7: Being a d V bro is the hardest position in football,
- 30:37Speaker 7: one hundred percent.
- 30:38Speaker 5: I said all the time.
- 30:39Speaker 6: It's the most athletic position, being a cornerback, you have
- 30:41Speaker 6: to be the best athlete maybe in sports. Now let
- 30:46Speaker 6: me just let me just give you some context to
- 30:47Speaker 6: that that statement that he made. If you wasn't on
- 30:50Speaker 6: the phone, we wasn't having this conversation, he would have
- 30:52Speaker 6: never always say that.
- 30:56Speaker 5: I always I always say what was what was your like?
- 31:01Speaker 7: What you ran in the forty and all that.
- 31:03Speaker 4: See now, now, now this is gonna be this is
- 31:05Speaker 4: gonna be a little bit of an issue here, all right.
- 31:08Speaker 4: So I was no, no, no, no, no, bro before that. Okay,
- 31:14Speaker 4: here's the thing. I ran four four. I ran four
- 31:17Speaker 4: four at the Combine my second year in the league.
- 31:21Speaker 4: I ran I run I ran a four two eight
- 31:23Speaker 4: and four to three five back to back. Hold on,
- 31:25Speaker 4: hold on, I'm just telling you. I'm just said four
- 31:28Speaker 4: three eight No no, no, no for two eight, four, three five.
- 31:32Speaker 4: Come on, That's what I'm saying too. Come on, listen.
- 31:35Speaker 4: Let's Decko took over the team. Let's Decko took over
- 31:38Speaker 4: the scene, took over the team, and he made us
- 31:41Speaker 4: do this crazy running program. So Brad, like you know,
- 31:45Speaker 4: he tried. He called me and said, look, you need
- 31:47Speaker 4: to come up to Minnesota. And work out because camp's
- 31:50Speaker 4: gonna be hard, blah blah blah blah. I said, no,
- 31:53Speaker 4: if that's all it's gonna be, I'll take care of
- 31:55Speaker 4: that here at home. And so he had this this
- 31:58Speaker 4: deal where we had to run the forties, do the shuttles,
- 32:02Speaker 4: kind of almost like the combat rock. So I was
- 32:06Speaker 4: the fastest dude on our.
- 32:07Speaker 5: Team that particular year.
- 32:10Speaker 4: I was Darren Nelson from Stanford was you know, he
- 32:15Speaker 4: was everybody thought he would be the fastest.
- 32:18Speaker 5: My time was the fastest time.
- 32:19Speaker 4: This is the first time I heard about that for
- 32:21Speaker 4: too well, when am I supposed to brag about it?
- 32:23Speaker 5: I don't.
- 32:28Speaker 9: Don't take his come on now, come on this moment.
- 32:36Speaker 7: I feel like that Chamberlain point games.
- 32:40Speaker 5: I heard.
- 32:48Speaker 7: And is he just mentioned all this about the lawyers, Like, okay,
- 32:51Speaker 7: did you run it outside.
- 32:55Speaker 5: Grass turfed? We were we were we.
- 32:58Speaker 4: Were Oh my god, we were outside. We were on
- 33:01Speaker 4: the turf. We was on the turf, and it was
- 33:04Speaker 4: and and and the coaches were the timers. They timed
- 33:07Speaker 4: the twenty into forty. I don't remember what the twenty
- 33:11Speaker 4: was because it didn't really matter because because the forty
- 33:13Speaker 4: was good.
- 33:14Speaker 5: Yeah, So I didn't work.
- 33:15Speaker 6: But I'll say this, if you go back and watch
- 33:18Speaker 6: some of the highlights of Coach Carl Lee, Yeah you
- 33:21Speaker 6: you had some wheels, so I mean I could believe it.
- 33:23Speaker 5: I'm messing with you, but yeah, you was doing your
- 33:25Speaker 5: thing out there. That's the first.
- 33:28Speaker 4: But we might need to keep you on the show
- 33:30Speaker 4: every week. That's the only problem he's ever given me.
- 33:36Speaker 7: Line.
- 33:36Speaker 5: Now, don't be.
- 33:38Speaker 9: Loud now, now, boys, you know how.
- 33:44Speaker 5: How are we? What are we? What?
- 33:46Speaker 7: Like?
- 33:49Speaker 5: That's a fact? Now that's a fact. Yeah, I gave
- 33:53Speaker 5: you that.
- 33:54Speaker 7: I like, I'll give you that also for y'all kind
- 33:57Speaker 7: of delusion on two like you can overthrow it. It'd
- 34:02Speaker 7: be a bad throwing the dB doing something.
- 34:07Speaker 4: See see that's new school. That ain't old school. If
- 34:10Speaker 4: we old school, we only take credit for what we do.
- 34:14Speaker 7: I'm gonna ask you this, you a dB, what was
- 34:16Speaker 7: your what was your pregame? Swag? Like? Every like your
- 34:19Speaker 7: wrist band had to be a certain way, y'all.
- 34:21Speaker 4: Ury I want to hear this. Okay, So I was
- 34:25Speaker 4: a spatter, so I would spat my shoes.
- 34:27Speaker 5: You know, my cleats. I spat him up, boy, and
- 34:30Speaker 5: I take.
- 34:30Speaker 4: My wrists and I had had you know, you had
- 34:34Speaker 4: the towel. You had to put the towel right the
- 34:36Speaker 4: town had to be right on the side on the hip.
- 34:38Speaker 4: You know, you had the glove. You did the gloves too,
- 34:41Speaker 4: you know, see you did the elbow elbow band. But
- 34:45Speaker 4: see I had two years with with with Bud Grant
- 34:48Speaker 4: and Bud Grant, you know, he was strict on what
- 34:51Speaker 4: how you look like, you know you we need to
- 34:54Speaker 4: look like a team.
- 34:55Speaker 5: So he kind of tapered some of that.
- 34:58Speaker 4: Then in my third in my second year when we
- 35:00Speaker 4: had less stuckle, he kind of try to step in
- 35:02Speaker 4: and do that same kind of thing. But after that
- 35:04Speaker 4: it was kind of it was kind of like wide open.
- 35:07Speaker 4: We could do kind of really whatever you want it.
- 35:09Speaker 4: You know, you could spat it up and then you know,
- 35:11Speaker 4: smatch your cleats up and draw something on it if
- 35:13Speaker 4: you wanted whatever, you know, put your number on it, whatever,
- 35:16Speaker 4: you know.
- 35:17Speaker 7: So whats used todss.
- 35:22Speaker 4: I?
- 35:22Speaker 5: See I don't I didn't play. I didn't play with him.
- 35:25Speaker 7: OK.
- 35:26Speaker 5: Yeah, I was gone before he got there.
- 35:27Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, But Bret, I'm telling you, the dress code
- 35:32Speaker 4: is important for you. You don't come out on the
- 35:35Speaker 4: field until you ready. Now and here's the here's what
- 35:38Speaker 4: people don't know. So like the warm up, when you
- 35:41Speaker 4: come out like prior to the game, you know, before
- 35:44Speaker 4: before the whole team comes out, you got your own look.
- 35:47Speaker 5: You got your look to come out there. You know,
- 35:49Speaker 5: you got got.
- 35:49Speaker 4: That look first, and then when it's the whole team
- 35:54Speaker 4: or special teams are coming out, you got that look.
- 35:58Speaker 4: Then when you're coming out final for the game, you
- 36:00Speaker 4: got you got the whole complete look.
- 36:03Speaker 5: You know. That's just that's that's just how it was.
- 36:06Speaker 4: Let me ask you a question, Pap, while we got you,
- 36:08Speaker 4: what far as the draft, just so we can talk
- 36:12Speaker 4: about that. What what's what's your what's your feelings on
- 36:14Speaker 4: the top maybe two or three picks or can you
- 36:17Speaker 4: say that?
- 36:17Speaker 5: I don't know if you can go there?
- 36:19Speaker 7: No go there. I ain't got no dog in the
- 36:21Speaker 7: fight this. I feel like cam Ward is and that's
- 36:29Speaker 7: gonna go to the Titans. Sure, I think too. The
- 36:33Speaker 7: Browns need to to do something right. I think they're
- 36:37Speaker 7: gonna I think they're gonna go get Travis Hunter, energize
- 36:41Speaker 7: their fan base, exciting player. They're gonna find a way
- 36:46Speaker 7: to creative ways to use them on both sides. At
- 36:49Speaker 7: three I can see that's the Giants.
- 36:51Speaker 5: Yeah, I believe the door.
- 36:53Speaker 7: Thing is a smoke screen. I believe they go dual
- 36:57Speaker 7: Carter okay for the Patriots. I can see the Patriots
- 37:01Speaker 7: go and get alignment, probably Will Campbell or maybe the
- 37:04Speaker 7: kid from Missouri, whoever they have higher. But I mean,
- 37:08Speaker 7: I think all of those guys can really play. Man.
- 37:10Speaker 7: So it's just like this year's first round is gonna
- 37:13Speaker 7: be more defense. Every thing was mostly offense, so sometimes
- 37:16Speaker 7: it alternates. This year defense is gonna be at the forefront.
- 37:20Speaker 7: You might see twenty twenty three guys on defensive draft.
- 37:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 37:25Speaker 6: Now, just as far as the Browns pick is concerned,
- 37:28Speaker 6: you know, I'm a big Travis Hunter fan.
- 37:30Speaker 5: I thought he was phenomenal.
- 37:31Speaker 6: So but to that pick into a franchise like that,
- 37:34Speaker 6: that is rebuilding. Do you take the player like Travis
- 37:38Speaker 6: Hunter or do you take like more of a foundational
- 37:41Speaker 6: player like that good offensive or defensive lineman, or do
- 37:44Speaker 6: you think or is he just the best player player
- 37:46Speaker 6: available in that slot.
- 37:48Speaker 7: I think he's the best available player in that slide.
- 37:50Speaker 7: I think when you're picking at the top of two,
- 37:53Speaker 7: which you are, you're gonna get a defecto first round,
- 37:56Speaker 7: so you can get creative there. Maybe trade into the
- 37:59Speaker 7: first if you want to go get a quarterback because
- 38:02Speaker 7: you got a top two, right you say, I tell
- 38:04Speaker 7: you like a GM. Sometimes you got to top of
- 38:06Speaker 7: two pick, which is really a first round pick. You're
- 38:08Speaker 7: gonna have somebody with a first round grade go there,
- 38:11Speaker 7: so you can go get it. Go get a d
- 38:12Speaker 7: lineman there top you know, old lineman. That's gonna be
- 38:15Speaker 7: a starter. I just don't. I'm not in the in
- 38:17Speaker 7: the business of passing on once in a generation tight players. Yeah,
- 38:23Speaker 7: and I think you can overthink it. I don't think
- 38:26Speaker 7: they said, oh, I think you run that card up.
- 38:29Speaker 7: You draft Travis Hunter and you ball. You look, you
- 38:33Speaker 7: go ball. If you put them on deep or you
- 38:35Speaker 7: put them on defense, you already got ward on the
- 38:36Speaker 7: other side of righting your Your receiver room is kind
- 38:40Speaker 7: of Jerry Judy pretty much. And you know, no notable
- 38:43Speaker 7: guys other than that. You give them twenty twenty five
- 38:45Speaker 7: players in a package, find manufacturer touches for them, screens,
- 38:50Speaker 7: getting them the ball in space, and sometimes it's the
- 38:52Speaker 7: thread of him out there, you know, send them out
- 38:53Speaker 7: on a vertical, get tight ends open. So I think
- 38:56Speaker 7: you go do that, man, and you you know you're
- 38:59Speaker 7: gonna be picking right there next year anyway. Quarterback class
- 39:05Speaker 7: next year, you know, so are are? You know, if
- 39:09Speaker 7: you're feeling it, feeling it, feeling it like you really are?
- 39:11Speaker 7: You make a trade at seven with somebody and come
- 39:14Speaker 7: get the door. What do you get? You reunite Sedor
- 39:20Speaker 7: and uh travers if you like, right, who's at seven
- 39:26Speaker 7: to je You just got to get up to eight
- 39:28Speaker 7: ahead of New Orleans. So you make a trade with
- 39:31Speaker 7: Carolina mm hmm. They got to give up a two.
- 39:35Speaker 7: You probably got to give up some stuff. But I mean,
- 39:38Speaker 7: if you believe in Shador that much, that means you're
- 39:41Speaker 7: you're banking on the He's better than next year's quarterback
- 39:43Speaker 7: class anyway.
- 39:44Speaker 5: So yeah, I like sha Door. It's a quarterback.
- 39:46Speaker 6: I mean, I've never seen, you know, a young quarterback
- 39:49Speaker 6: delivered the ball with such accuracy that's particularly underpressure. The
- 39:53Speaker 6: only thing I worry about when you look at the
- 39:55Speaker 6: modern quarterbacks that Jalen hurts, the Lamar Jackson's they got
- 39:59Speaker 6: them wheels, and I I'm not sure if he's going
- 40:01Speaker 6: to be able to to to do what needs to
- 40:04Speaker 6: be done in a modern sense of football as far
- 40:06Speaker 6: as that is concerned.
- 40:08Speaker 7: Here's my thing, though, Matt Stafford isn't a crazy at
- 40:12Speaker 7: least if you're an elite processor. Okay, you know, I
- 40:15Speaker 7: think if you're an elite processor and you get the
- 40:18Speaker 7: ball out quick, you go through your progressives and your reads,
- 40:20Speaker 7: which I think he does. He has a you know,
- 40:22Speaker 7: he took a lot of sex to Colorado. A lot
- 40:24Speaker 7: of that was whole line related. But I'm a believer, man,
- 40:29Speaker 7: I'm a I'm a believer and shoulder, and I don't
- 40:34Speaker 7: you know, the whole him being super fast thing you got.
- 40:37Speaker 7: You know, they've got a lot of quarterbacks that ain't burners, Yeah,
- 40:41Speaker 7: but he got you just got to be fast enough
- 40:43Speaker 7: to be evasis as long.
- 40:44Speaker 8: As they're not mister irrelevant right exactly to throw it
- 40:52Speaker 8: in there, Yes.
- 40:54Speaker 7: Rock Purdy brock Perky irrelevant.
- 40:57Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, my brother, I tell you what.
- 41:00Speaker 4: We appreciate the time we thought we was gonna be
- 41:02Speaker 4: here like maybe ten fifteen, but we Yeah, we got
- 41:06Speaker 4: to have you.
- 41:06Speaker 9: Back for sure.
- 41:08Speaker 7: I enjoyed talking to you, all.
- 41:10Speaker 5: Right, man, We'll get back to you. Thanks, Paul, appreciate,
- 41:12Speaker 5: thank you.
- 41:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 41:14Speaker 5: Yeah, So I don't know if I want to get
- 41:19Speaker 5: any credit for that. I don't know if I would
- 41:23Speaker 5: have given any credit. He's awesome, but that's a conversation there.
- 41:27Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying, like, you know, and and
- 41:29Speaker 4: the fact that even came out with his ques in
- 41:33Speaker 4: the car actually happens to you.
- 41:39Speaker 12: Sound presentation that's time zero four zero zero one.

- 42:31Speaker 4: I don't know if I want to get any credit
- 42:33Speaker 4: to that all. I don't know if I want to
- 42:36Speaker 4: give it viny credit.
- 42:38Speaker 5: He's awesome, but that's a conversation there.
- 42:41Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying, Like you know, and and
- 42:43Speaker 4: the fact that he actually himself even came out with
- 42:45Speaker 4: his own questions.
- 42:47Speaker 5: You know, I think I thought.
- 42:48Speaker 9: That the future media. Absolutely, yeah, he's got a future.
- 42:53Speaker 6: So so I know we wanted to talk. We ain't
- 42:56Speaker 6: got that much time left, so.
- 43:00Speaker 9: Lies we could talk about Nico. I think that's pretty.
- 43:03Speaker 5: Important to you. Yeah, okay, let's let's do that. So
- 43:06Speaker 5: tell us talk to us a little bit about the story.
- 43:09Speaker 9: Okay.
- 43:10Speaker 8: So, so we all know Nico, and I hope I
- 43:13Speaker 8: say his last name right, I'm a Lava.
- 43:15Speaker 9: Did I say it right?
- 43:17Speaker 5: Okay?
- 43:21Speaker 7: So he is.
- 43:23Speaker 8: He was the quarterback at a Tennessee, a starter, and
- 43:27Speaker 8: he was being paid by the school and the alumni
- 43:31Speaker 8: in ale funds, and he was making basically about at
- 43:36Speaker 8: one point he was making about two million total, I guess,
- 43:40Speaker 8: with endorsements and everything.
- 43:41Speaker 9: And then he.
- 43:42Speaker 8: Decided this past off season, this offseason right now, that
- 43:46Speaker 8: he wanted that increase to four million. And so the
- 43:51Speaker 8: volunteer fan base, the coaches, the administration did not take
- 43:56Speaker 8: well to that. Actually, the head coach, coach Hype even said,
- 44:00Speaker 8: which is something that kind of stuck with me. And
- 44:03Speaker 8: I'm hoping that a lot of the coaches at at
- 44:06Speaker 8: you know, big schools around the nation also kind of
- 44:08Speaker 8: take it to heart that no one is bigger than
- 44:11Speaker 8: the program and that's a fact.
- 44:12Speaker 9: Basically, they let him go and.
- 44:14Speaker 6: He attempted to hold out by saying he missed practice.
- 44:17Speaker 6: He yes, So basically it was a it was a
- 44:20Speaker 6: holdout for it.
- 44:20Speaker 4: Was a holdout for the definitely, yes, it was definitely
- 44:23Speaker 4: a holdout and saying if I'm not gonna do anything
- 44:26Speaker 4: until y'all payment paid more, yes, which.
- 44:30Speaker 9: I think that the whole setup of his NIL deal.
- 44:34Speaker 8: He would have at one point if he would have
- 44:35Speaker 8: stayed with the program went through the complete four years
- 44:39Speaker 8: that he had signed up for, with the incentives that
- 44:41Speaker 8: were in there, with wins and his successes, it would
- 44:45Speaker 8: have increased to more than that. But he wasn't willing
- 44:47Speaker 8: to stick it out.
- 44:48Speaker 5: And again, this is one of those things.
- 44:50Speaker 6: While I'm a little conflicted on this because we've seen
- 44:52Speaker 6: coaches do this, right, We've seen coaches lead programs that
- 44:55Speaker 6: they were vested in if they had success, then for
- 44:58Speaker 6: more money, U essentially hold out to try to stick
- 45:02Speaker 6: the team up for more money. I just think, again,
- 45:04Speaker 6: when I look at this, this is an n double
- 45:06Speaker 6: A in the n C double A problem. This is
- 45:08Speaker 6: an n C double A issue and they should have
- 45:11Speaker 6: fixed it when they had the opportunity. But now it's
- 45:14Speaker 6: the wild wild West, you know what I mean? I
- 45:18Speaker 6: agree with the whole wild wild West issue. And and
- 45:22Speaker 6: and what what what bothers me.
- 45:26Speaker 4: Is because again and in this past conversation we had,
- 45:29Speaker 4: we talked about teamwork, you know, and it is about
- 45:32Speaker 4: team and.
- 45:36Speaker 5: It's gotten to a point.
- 45:37Speaker 4: What we what nil has created is individualized situations in
- 45:43Speaker 4: the sport. Because Hollis gets X, and I think I'm
- 45:48Speaker 4: better than Hollis. I got to go in and I
- 45:50Speaker 4: gotta get X plus plus. And I think that was
- 45:53Speaker 4: the case.
- 45:53Speaker 5: Yes, we were.
- 45:55Speaker 6: He was a quarterback and I think his name is
- 45:57Speaker 6: Becker in Miami. He's getting for me, So I think
- 46:00Speaker 6: that's where the Nico the kid got that number.
- 46:03Speaker 4: And then and the fact that you can walk aw now,
- 46:06Speaker 4: let's be honest, let's just be honest. We're talking collegiate sports. Yeah, right,
- 46:11Speaker 4: top level collegiate sports. You are walking away from let's
- 46:18Speaker 4: just say three million dollars, right, because because you want
- 46:22Speaker 4: four over over.
- 46:24Speaker 5: Your time for this year, for that year, da da
- 46:26Speaker 5: da da, da, Are.
- 46:28Speaker 4: You kidding me to to to play collegiate football. You
- 46:33Speaker 4: have the you have the audacity to walk away from
- 46:37Speaker 4: four million dollars.
- 46:38Speaker 6: But it's hard. But I think it's hard to argue.
- 46:42Speaker 6: I seen a report yesterday where the SEC is a
- 46:46Speaker 6: conference made like eight hundred million or some like close
- 46:50Speaker 6: to some several billion dollars as a conference. It's hard
- 46:53Speaker 6: to argue. It's hard for me to say, well, he's
- 46:55Speaker 6: he's wrong for doing that when you're seeing all this
- 46:58Speaker 6: money on.
- 46:59Speaker 5: The table across the board.
- 47:00Speaker 4: No, I believe that collegiate sports are making tons of money.
- 47:06Speaker 4: I also believe like this, the NFL makes tons of money. Okay,
- 47:12Speaker 4: but does that mean that a collegiate player should make
- 47:21Speaker 4: that kind of money? Again, I don't. But again, they
- 47:25Speaker 4: weren't asking for this. The players were not asking asked
- 47:29Speaker 4: for a piece of a pie.
- 47:31Speaker 6: And because the n Cuba failed to act, this is
- 47:35Speaker 6: the result. And again I'm not saying it's got to
- 47:39Speaker 6: get tightened up. I don't think we can stay here.
- 47:41Speaker 5: We can't.
- 47:42Speaker 8: No, we cannot live here. And this is something interesting.
- 47:44Speaker 8: And we've all talked about the transfer portal a lot
- 47:47Speaker 8: on this podcast, but this is a different angle that
- 47:51Speaker 8: I'm going to present to you guys that I wasn't
- 47:53Speaker 8: aware of.
- 47:54Speaker 9: Maybe you guys were.
- 47:56Speaker 5: But in this.
- 47:57Speaker 8: Specific instance, when when Nico entered the the transfer portal,
- 48:01Speaker 8: he entered with a tag of do not contact. Okay, okay, okay,
- 48:06Speaker 8: I know there's a dude, whenever you enter the portal,
- 48:09Speaker 8: there's a possibility if you want to you can. You
- 48:12Speaker 8: can enter with a tag that says do not contact,
- 48:15Speaker 8: which means one of two things.
- 48:16Speaker 9: One of two things.
- 48:17Speaker 8: One of them is that he already knows where he's going,
- 48:19Speaker 8: he's already got to do in place, or his representatives
- 48:25Speaker 8: will contact your school to let you know you're interested.
- 48:29Speaker 9: So it's one of two things.
- 48:30Speaker 8: Either he already knew he was going and we found
- 48:32Speaker 8: out the seating he's going to U c l A.
- 48:34Speaker 4: Correct, is that what I don't think those deals are
- 48:37Speaker 4: officially done?
- 48:39Speaker 8: Well, the possibility he's going there. So here's the one
- 48:42Speaker 8: of two things. When he went into that portal, he
- 48:44Speaker 8: either knew that l U c l A wanted him
- 48:47Speaker 8: and maybe that's why he did the things he did
- 48:48Speaker 8: with Tennessee to get out of that, or he's going
- 48:52Speaker 8: he's in his mind he Is that all that that
- 48:56Speaker 8: he's able to pick where he wants to go and
- 48:59Speaker 8: have his peeple contact their people.
- 49:02Speaker 5: Yeah, that's it. That's like a franchise tag or something
- 49:04Speaker 5: like that.
- 49:05Speaker 9: But my question to my question, I didn't know that though,
- 49:07Speaker 9: did you?
- 49:07Speaker 5: Guys? No idea that.
- 49:12Speaker 4: I'm trying to figure out, Like, Okay, I'm a colleague
- 49:18Speaker 4: athlete and I'm getting ready to say how much money
- 49:25Speaker 4: I want for n I l that sounds like so
- 49:30Speaker 4: my question the question that that comes to me in that, Okay,
- 49:33Speaker 4: so I got to look at Hollis and see what
- 49:35Speaker 4: he's making.
- 49:35Speaker 5: I gotta look at least and see what she's making.
- 49:37Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying, Like I am?
- 49:38Speaker 1: I am?
- 49:38Speaker 4: I researching players to see where I fit.
- 49:43Speaker 5: Definitely doing that. Somebody's doing it for some I have
- 49:46Speaker 5: to assume somebody is doing it. Yeah.
- 49:48Speaker 4: Now the question becomes to me, which is again a
- 49:52Speaker 4: pro issue. Like so I said, so you're making four million,
- 49:57Speaker 4: So I'm thinking, now, oh, shoot, if Hollis is making
- 50:00Speaker 4: in four million, then I need to make four and
- 50:02Speaker 4: a half or five?
- 50:04Speaker 5: Yeah? How am I? How am I processing my skill
- 50:09Speaker 5: set versus you? Is it? Stats?
- 50:11Speaker 4: Are we going by stats, or we just thinking that
- 50:14Speaker 4: we got the skill.
- 50:15Speaker 5: Set, I think, or it's the same thing you will
- 50:17Speaker 5: processing in a pro sense.
- 50:18Speaker 6: You're looking at your success versus that guy's success, that
- 50:21Speaker 6: guy's versus your status. You're looking at all those things.
- 50:23Speaker 6: I mean, he did take Tennessee to the playoffs. He
- 50:26Speaker 6: was a good quarterback.
- 50:27Speaker 7: Now you.
- 50:29Speaker 4: Said he took him to the playoffs, but.
- 50:32Speaker 9: Yeah, I think they were there. They were part of
- 50:34Speaker 9: the conversation.
- 50:35Speaker 5: But if you're quarterback, that's coming back and I'm saying,
- 50:38Speaker 5: maybe you.
- 50:39Speaker 4: Want to be the top you want to be the
- 50:40Speaker 4: top pay quarterback, and and and you got into the
- 50:43Speaker 4: play but.
- 50:44Speaker 9: Else it depends on what the school needs.
- 50:46Speaker 8: I mean, maybe the school has players in place that
- 50:48Speaker 8: you know would be able to push him to the
- 50:51Speaker 8: next level. You know, if you're going to Ohio State
- 50:54Speaker 8: from Tennessee, that's that's a that's a huge difference in
- 50:57Speaker 8: talent levels really, and.
- 50:59Speaker 6: Again, I just think is one of those things where
- 51:01Speaker 6: it really it just from from a fans perspective, it's
- 51:06Speaker 6: ruined college sports. And because I think the legacy angle
- 51:10Speaker 6: of what college sports were is gone. Because I think
- 51:13Speaker 6: when you're looking at like, you know, those tim Tebow's
- 51:16Speaker 6: and those other guys that we grew up watching, they
- 51:20Speaker 6: were distinctly associated with that university.
- 51:23Speaker 5: I seen one guy who been in like six different schools.
- 51:26Speaker 6: I seen the there was they were talking about men
- 51:30Speaker 6: Majors in basketball and they look at the three players
- 51:32Speaker 6: and now they're all gone going to Division I school.
- 51:35Speaker 6: So it's like the legacy that you could have established
- 51:38Speaker 6: being at a school and being known for that school
- 51:41Speaker 6: is just gone.
- 51:43Speaker 5: And I think that.
- 51:44Speaker 6: That's the part that we're going to have to wrestle
- 51:46Speaker 6: to figure if we can sort of pull that back,
- 51:49Speaker 6: because that's the heart of collegiate sports.
- 51:51Speaker 4: I don't think I don't think that kids see or
- 51:55Speaker 4: care quote about their legacy from somewhere.
- 52:02Speaker 5: You got a kid, want money.
- 52:03Speaker 6: You got two kids, these like top basketball players going
- 52:07Speaker 6: to be Y, you going there.
- 52:10Speaker 5: They're like the top basketball ones.
- 52:12Speaker 4: Ones coming out of high school going to be YU,
- 52:14Speaker 4: and the other one was like a transfer. These are
- 52:15Speaker 4: like top basketball I forget their name, top basketball players.
- 52:18Speaker 4: And because b YU has a structure where they're going
- 52:21Speaker 4: to really pay you. So now these kids now they're
- 52:24Speaker 4: not thinking about like Kentucky, they're not thinking about the dukes,
- 52:26Speaker 4: the tar Hills, Kansas. It's like I'm going to who
- 52:30Speaker 4: can pay the most well, regardless of anything, and to
- 52:33Speaker 4: that if I can get that money in in.
- 52:37Speaker 5: College, I don't need it.
- 52:40Speaker 4: I'm not worried about pro at least not right now,
- 52:42Speaker 4: not right now, not right now.
- 52:44Speaker 8: And I'm going to throw this out here, guys, because
- 52:46Speaker 8: I think what's what's happened with the transfer portal was
- 52:49Speaker 8: not not what the n C double A intended when
- 52:52Speaker 8: they when they kind of created it. It's become it's
- 52:56Speaker 8: become a leverage tool. I mean, these you know what
- 53:01Speaker 8: I'm saying. I mean they're going to the school and
- 53:03Speaker 8: they're saying, hey, I know I can get in this portal,
- 53:05Speaker 8: make more money.
- 53:05Speaker 5: What can you what can you give me?
- 53:07Speaker 9: I need more? I need more.
- 53:08Speaker 8: And so it's become something completely different than what I
- 53:12Speaker 8: think the NC double A intended it to be.
- 53:14Speaker 5: I don't know if they intended on anything.
- 53:16Speaker 6: Like I'm never for calling for somebody's job, but I
- 53:18Speaker 6: think we need a whole new administration.
- 53:21Speaker 5: I mean, I seriously think that.
- 53:22Speaker 6: I think far as n C double A is concerned,
- 53:25Speaker 6: we need all new everything from top to bottom of it.
- 53:28Speaker 4: Okay, here here's here's the problem with that. I can
- 53:30Speaker 4: totally agree with it, but here's the problem with it. Okay,
- 53:34Speaker 4: So me and Lisa are coming in, like what are
- 53:37Speaker 4: we doing? Like, like what what changes can we Because
- 53:40Speaker 4: the moment we touch any kind of money, the changes
- 53:43Speaker 4: that you If I was depulated, if I wouldn't even
- 53:47Speaker 4: I was, I wouldn't, that wouldn't be my first thing.
- 53:49Speaker 4: My first thing would be to the money's gonna come
- 53:52Speaker 4: from us, forget all the NIL stuff. So we're going
- 53:56Speaker 4: to do a revenue shame model at this level. Yes,
- 53:59Speaker 4: so it's n CUBA because that's how you regulate it,
- 54:02Speaker 4: because now hows it stands if it's a third party
- 54:05Speaker 4: in IL, just like West Virginia just passed the law,
- 54:07Speaker 4: it hasn't yet to be signed by the governor where
- 54:09Speaker 4: nonprofits can now come in and be part of the
- 54:12Speaker 4: school essentially and help regulate to help deal with the
- 54:15Speaker 4: NIL stuff. So if I'm the n c DOUBLEA, the
- 54:18Speaker 4: very first thing I'm doing is I'm I'm gonna have
- 54:21Speaker 4: to do like a President Trump those things start cutting
- 54:24Speaker 4: some some some fat around so I can free up
- 54:26Speaker 4: some money, and I'm going to do a revenue shame model.
- 54:30Speaker 4: So that way I can control it, because outside of that,
- 54:33Speaker 4: you're not going to control it.
- 54:33Speaker 5: You can't just need limit rules.
- 54:35Speaker 4: They don't care because they don't they don't need that body,
- 54:37Speaker 4: that government body anymore.
- 54:38Speaker 8: It's sprald out of control now. I mean it's it's
- 54:40Speaker 8: completely out of control. It's about who has the most money,
- 54:43Speaker 8: is who's going to win. Look a look at March Madness.
- 54:46Speaker 8: What happened there?
- 54:47Speaker 9: It was the top four number one seeds.
- 54:50Speaker 8: The Cinderella has disappeared, It has completely decimated the Cinderella story.
- 54:54Speaker 4: Yeah, that that's almost virtually impossible to happen.
- 54:57Speaker 6: And it just like to the Gramblin coach when he
- 54:59Speaker 6: was saying, like, if you pick one of my players off,
- 55:02Speaker 6: you should have to do a buyout. Sure, and I
- 55:05Speaker 6: do like and I think that's competitive balance, right, I think?
- 55:08Speaker 6: So I think something something to that degree has to happen,
- 55:11Speaker 6: right because you because basically the smaller schools are just
- 55:14Speaker 6: farm teams for the bigger.
- 55:15Speaker 5: Schools, right, And I really do.
- 55:18Speaker 4: And if you think about it, if you sit back
- 55:19Speaker 4: and you look at it, and you say, okay, so
- 55:21Speaker 4: Gramblin loses a player to Alabama, So now Alabama now
- 55:26Speaker 4: has to pay gramblin X number of dollars or percentage
- 55:33Speaker 4: of what you're paying that player, however they want to
- 55:36Speaker 4: work that. I think that I think that is the
- 55:39Speaker 4: perfect I think that is perfect because I think that
- 55:42Speaker 4: allows the schools who are, like you said, are creating
- 55:47Speaker 4: these young athletes that end up jumping ship and going
- 55:51Speaker 4: somewhere bigger. You can't afford to lose those guys unless
- 55:55Speaker 4: you get unless, unless it's money in, you're getting money back.
- 56:00Speaker 6: And and I think the n C double A they
- 56:03Speaker 6: they the money has to come from them, so that
- 56:05Speaker 6: money has to come from them in the conferences.
- 56:07Speaker 5: So that way you can fully control because.
- 56:10Speaker 6: Having a third party, if you have a you know,
- 56:12Speaker 6: a Jeff Bezo who is your benefactor, it's just endless,
- 56:18Speaker 6: endless money.
- 56:19Speaker 8: And you know what else, we also have to look
- 56:20Speaker 8: at the transfer portal rules now, I mean if they've
- 56:23Speaker 8: got things like you know, the the do not contact tag.
- 56:26Speaker 9: I mean that that's.
- 56:27Speaker 8: A whole new level to that that I didn't even know,
- 56:31Speaker 8: I mean insisted, so, I mean, I know, it's just
- 56:35Speaker 8: there's so many things that are wrong right now with
- 56:38Speaker 8: all of it, and and and the n C Double
- 56:40Speaker 8: A is going to have to intervene.
- 56:41Speaker 9: They have to do something.
- 56:42Speaker 5: If they can, if they can, if they can, that's
- 56:45Speaker 5: a question.
- 56:46Speaker 4: Well again, we in the show on on college sports
- 56:53Speaker 4: and money.
- 56:54Speaker 5: That seems to be n I L seems to be
- 56:56Speaker 5: the way. We always got to come five, always not
- 56:59Speaker 5: coming back here.
