- Lucas: Luna, ready for another episode of Learn Danish with Fexingo? Luna: Totally. Last time we did transport — bil, cykel, tog, bus. I've been practicing. Lucas: That's great. Today we'll add three more: flyver, taxa, and færge. Plus asking about travel time. Luna: Oh, like plane, taxi, and ferry. I can see those being useful. Lucas: Exactly. Let's start with Jeg tager flyveren. That means 'I take the plane.' Listen: Jeg tager flyveren. Luna: Jeg tager flyveren. That's a mouthful. Flyver... flyveren. Lucas: You got it. And for taxi: Jeg tager en taxa. Luna: Jeg tager en taxa. That one's easier. Lucas: And ferry: Jeg tager færgen. Luna: Jeg tager færgen. Færgen. Is that like 'fair-gen'? Lucas: Close. Færgen. Let's do a little scene. You're going to Copenhagen from Oslo. Luna: Okay, so I could say Jeg tager færgen. But what if I'm going from Copenhagen to London? Lucas: Then you'd say Jeg tager flyveren. Or if you're just going to the airport, Jeg tager en taxa. Luna: So many options. Now, how do I ask how long it takes? Lucas: Great question. The phrase is Hvor lang tid tager det? — 'How long does it take?' Repeat after me: Hvor lang tid tager det? Luna: Hvor lang tid tager det? That's a good one. And the answer? Lucas: Det tager to timer. 'It takes two hours.' Let's practice. Listen: Det tager to timer. Luna: Det tager to timer. So if I take the ferry from Oslo to Copenhagen, I could say Det tager to timer? Lucas: Actually it's longer, but yes, you can use that pattern. Now, let's put it together. Luna, you're going from Copenhagen to Malmö. Luna: Okay, I'd take the train. But if I were taking the ferry, I'd say Jeg tager færgen. Hvor lang tid tager det? Lucas: And the answer: Det tager 45 minutter. But for our phrases, let's stick with Det tager to timer for now. Luna: Right. So Jeg tager flyveren, Jeg tager en taxa, Jeg tager færgen, Hvor lang tid tager det?, Det tager to timer. Lucas: You're nailing it. Now, before we do more practice, I want to mention something quick. Luna: Sure, what's up? Lucas: If Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Danish, you might want to know how it stays ad-free. It's listener-supported. Luna: Yeah, a handful of listeners chip in monthly through buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo, and that literally funds making all these episodes. Lucas: Exactly. No pressure at all, but if it's helped you, that's where you can help keep it going. Now, back to transport. Luna: Let's do another scene. Imagine I'm at the airport in Copenhagen, flying to New York. Lucas: Then you'd say Jeg tager flyveren. And if someone asks how long, you'd say Det tager otte timer. Luna: Jeg tager flyveren. Det tager otte timer. Wow, that's a long flight. Lucas: But you can practice Danish on the plane. Let's repeat all five phrases one more time. Luna: Okay, from the top. Jeg tager flyveren. Jeg tager en taxa. Jeg tager færgen. Hvor lang tid tager det? Det tager to timer. Lucas: Perfect. You've got it. Practice those until next time, and we'll see you in episode 129.
