Latest / Real Deal Media / Late Night Thoughts with Dean Ryan 'Bad Fish'
Transcript
- 0:13Recently, Dean Ryan attempted to interview a guest named Katie
- 0:18Hamilton. Katie was an old friend of
- 0:21Dean's from yesteryear who dropped out of society six years
- 0:26ago and left Dallas for Alaska. Gaul was to live on a boat full
- 0:33time as a fisherman, experiencing the adventures of
- 0:37the ocean and the dangers of deep sea fishing.
- 0:40Most would find this lifestyle extreme, especially in the male
- 0:45dominated industry. How does a young girl live
- 0:48amongst A handful of men on his occluded fishing boat in Alaska?
- 0:58Logic aside, Dean went into this late night thoughts episode with
- 1:03the best of intentions, the best of intentions, and the warmness
- 1:08of hearts. It didn't go exactly the way he
- 1:12had imagined. This is what happened.
- 1:40Welcome back here. It's late night.
- 1:44Thoughts. That's right.
- 1:46If you thought it was something else, you're highly mistaken.
- 1:50And that's why I'm here. This is your lovely host.
- 1:57Not sure that's politically correct.
- 1:59Let me try that again. This is your very staunch,
- 2:03stoic, nobleistic host Dean Ryan.
- 2:11This is the incredible late night thoughts here at Real Deal
- 2:16Media's finest podcast hallways as I'm returning tonight as I'm
- 2:25trying to position my laptop before it explodes on me.
- 2:30I mean, it sounds like a pressure cooker, so you have to
- 2:33excuse my due diligence here. Let me anyways, what I was
- 2:39saying here tonight we have a a wonderful and a guest who's
- 2:44going to be cruising with me to midnight and beyond here as I'm
- 2:47going to be your pilot. It's going to be flying you to
- 2:50the promised land on the South and the north side of optimism
- 2:58depending which way you want to go.
- 2:59And that's what we do here at late Night Thoughts, where we
- 3:02speak about everything in absolutely nothing at all.
- 3:08So I'm going to welcome my guest here is a very interesting
- 3:16individual and I mean that wholeheartedly.
- 3:20Her name is Katie Hamilton in relation to George.
- 3:25But this particular Hamilton, out of all the ones in history
- 3:30that you might have read about, is kind of reminds me of a
- 3:34modern day Joan of Arc. Well, that's not a term I use
- 3:39lightly, but I use it because it's true.
- 3:44As this kid, Hamilton has kind of made her own strive into
- 3:50individualism, following the art of nonconformity by getting a
- 3:56into a totally male dominated industry of the fishing
- 4:00industry. And I've always been fascinated
- 4:03by her, her lifestyle, her alternative lifestyle.
- 4:07So it's going to be a quite an interest here and she's going to
- 4:11be joining us all the way from the shaky, incredible depths of
- 4:18Alaska where she is now catching her wild plankton.
- 4:22Let's see here if she's going to be chiming in here.
- 4:26Katie Hamilton, how are you? Hi.
- 4:31Yes, Dean. How's it going?
- 4:34I'm good. Alive and well.
- 4:36Blessed. Hey, thank God.
- 4:41So doing good. Welcome to my office here.
- 4:45So we're doing all my late night deals and it's so good to see
- 4:50you now. Just a little background on our
- 4:54guest here tonight. I actually crossed paths with
- 4:58Miss Hamilton in Texas many years ago, and I've always found
- 5:03you fascinating, and I sincerely mean that because you're one of
- 5:08you people I know personally, like myself that has truly
- 5:13followed the the oral definition of art of nonconformity.
- 5:18And it's such a beautiful thing to say, to say and see rather
- 5:22and where are you tonight? Here or today you're in Alaska.
- 5:25We have a beautiful show here. You show us.
- 5:29Yes, I'm actually, I'm on a small island called OOGUA.
- 5:36It's it's standpoint Alaska on the illusion chain.
- 5:39So yeah, we might have some difficulties because the wind.
- 5:45OK, I'll try to get out, but yeah, so I'm on a small island
- 5:49on the Aleutian chain of Alaska, which is the Bering Sea.
- 5:54Essentially it's it's way a real out of curse.
- 5:58It's out there, OK. Is this like you're are you OK?
- 6:03Is this like you're Are you sending out an SOS?
- 6:05I just want to make sure because I I don't like to call anyone.
- 6:10I wouldn't know who to call. That's why I came here.
- 6:15The lifeguard. OK, yeah.
- 6:17So how cold is it where you are? Because it looks like it's bone
- 6:21chilling, which is odd for summer, but maybe it's room
- 6:24temperature for all I know. You know, you would be
- 6:27surprised. It actually rains a lot, like
- 6:30almost every single day. And so we're technically in a
- 6:36rainforest like SE. Alaska is a rainforest, even
- 6:39though I'm not in Southeast Alaska right now, But it's very
- 6:42rainy, usually moist, very humid.
- 6:46But since I got here, it's been like sunny and and beautiful.
- 6:50I would say it's probably like sixties 50s.
- 6:55Something like that is. Is it?
- 6:57Is that because everywhere you go you bring sun flowers and
- 7:00chirping birds everywhere? Absolutely. 100 percent.
- 7:04OK, OK. This makes this actually helps
- 7:07me figure out some things as I feel like everywhere I go a dark
- 7:10cloud with bats go just you know and just possums to you know
- 7:15don't forget them and well this is good to know and this this is
- 7:20it's really great to see see you actually it's good to talk to
- 7:24you it's been I'm going. Quite some time.
- 7:28Say again? You can see me.
- 7:30Oh, I can see you. Yeah, Yeah.
- 7:32Can you see me? No, it's just a still picture.
- 7:36It's just a still photo. No, that's me.
- 7:38I'm just not moving. I'm not moving very intensely in
- 7:44deep thought. So now I guess I should just ask
- 7:49the just the total tourist questions and be that guy right
- 7:52away. Now a lot of people might say,
- 7:54you know, God, you're at sea a lot.
- 7:57Are you at sea all the time? Are you on the ocean 24/7 or
- 8:01it's just, you know, on the weekends only?
- 8:05Right, the the schedule is very very random.
- 8:10And yes, usually I I could be at sea for like 3 weeks straight.
- 8:16Four weeks straight, sometimes where I will not be able to
- 8:19touch the land. And so usually we're out for
- 8:24like 3 or four or five days and then we can go to land for like
- 8:281 1/2 days and then we turn right back around and go back
- 8:32out. We just have to stock up on like
- 8:35fresh water, groceries, fuel, stuff like that.
- 8:39OK, this is interesting. So you're on a boat now.
- 8:42People are saying, OK, she's on a boat, she's not trapped on an
- 8:45island. Now what is she doing on a boat?
- 8:48Are you what is the equivalent of the Somali pirates?
- 8:52Are you going around taxing people on the seas or what
- 8:56brings you to the boat because? First of all, but I'm a
- 9:01commercial fisherman, so yeah, I'm out here catching wild
- 9:06salmon. And how is it?
- 9:09And black cod and prawns for the people to eat.
- 9:13And have you always had a fascination and admiration for
- 9:17seafood in general, or is that something you've thrown
- 9:20accustomed to? I don't.
- 9:22I don't really like a lot of seafood.
- 9:23And especially now, after having been a fiction man, I'm
- 9:26extremely picky. No farm raised, anything.
- 9:31Are we allowed to curse, Dan? I need to know.
- 9:33I I curse a lot. I need to know.
- 9:36Oh, you need to know. Right now.
- 9:37Now. Do we curse?
- 9:40I have to call. I have to call the executives.
- 9:43Hold on, hold on. Hey, Larry.
- 9:51Yeah, you're right, Sir. I'm talking station manager.
- 9:56She wants you to say what? Yeah, she's asking me that
- 9:59question. You said she would, you know.
- 10:00OK, she's calling you bro. OK, well it doesn't matter.
- 10:11Just leave it. Do you mind?
- 10:12I'm on a phone call. So just.
- 10:14Yeah, just put that. Turn the burner off.
- 10:17Turn the burner off. Yeah.
- 10:18Yes. And like, my laundry folded.
- 10:20You know, the way I like it. Thank you.
- 10:22OK. I'm sorry about that.
- 10:23I had that was it was a foreign dignitary who calls me.
- 10:27So let's get back to you for a minute.
- 10:29OK. So you hate seafood.
- 10:31And remind me, there's a lot of like a.
- 10:35Lot of people. Industry.
- 10:38Let's just say that I, I hate landlocked traffic.
- 10:42Land lovers like land lovers great.
- 10:46She's frozen. So we were getting to, we're
- 10:51trying to discover this alternative lifestyle for for
- 10:55many because in in the same regard to have like, I meant
- 10:59like there's a lot of people who are like bartenders or are in
- 11:03the liquor industry and just don't like, you know, alcohol.
- 11:06And it's always interesting to me in in some regard, but you
- 11:12didn't get into commercial fishing because you liked fish
- 11:16sticks per se. And so trying to, we're trying
- 11:21to figure, is it because of The Adventure of the Sea, the fan of
- 11:27the Poseidon Adventures or maybe?
- 11:30Absolutely has to do with that for sure.
- 11:32I I call it vine destiny. And divine destiny.
- 11:40Define destiny or define destiny or divine?
- 11:44Divine destiny. And And once that door opens, I
- 11:49shoved my foot in there and made sure it didn't close.
- 11:51Do you know what I mean? And I've worked my way up to the
- 11:55point of where eventually I will become a captain.
- 11:57And so it's interesting to think because when you think about
- 12:01farmers. With like cows or with
- 12:04vegetables, that's easy to imagine.
- 12:07But I I could never have imagined, like, what do
- 12:10fishermen do? That's crazy.
- 12:12It's crazy to me. And it's not like I thought I
- 12:15didn't seek it out. I didn't seek this out.
- 12:17It came to me as an opportunity and I tested it and fell in love
- 12:21with it. And that's when I was like all
- 12:23in. Two months later, I sold
- 12:25everything and it was like it never turned my back.
- 12:27Really. What did you sell?
- 12:29Like what were you selling? Just like everything that you
- 12:33own that you would furnish with, essentially.
- 12:36Well, I didn't know everything. Like, like cars too.
- 12:40Wow. Yeah.
- 12:41Everything OK? Well.
- 12:42I guess that'd be. That'd be for land lovers.
- 12:45Land lovers like cars. Yeah, like cars.
- 12:47Yeah, hell with them. Hell with them.
- 12:51I miss them Closet. I have to say, you miss having a
- 12:54closet. Yes, yeah, there are.
- 12:57Some good things about the land, like bathtubs, yes.
- 13:01Do you feel like a mermaid? Would you like?
- 13:03Are you like a modern day mermaid, would you say?
- 13:05I get to pet doll sharks and stuff like that.
- 13:10You play the harp. Did you say you play the harp?
- 13:12That'd be nice, I'm sure. I could pick it up very quickly.
- 13:15Yeah. Yeah, that'd be something.
- 13:20Yeah. I catch you singing a part of
- 13:22your world or whatever was in the court.
- 13:24Anyways, so OK, so you've been doing this how many years now?
- 13:27Because I remember hearing about this ages ago and yeah, yeah,
- 13:36yeah, yeah. So and I I recall, which that
- 13:39was a crazy time for me. When is it?
- 13:44When is it? Not a crazy time, But I I think
- 13:47I recall that I thought maybe you were doing this for summer
- 13:52or something and just to check it out and, you know, and I
- 13:56thought about it too. A long time ago, I even looked
- 13:58at something called the Sea Shepherd.
- 14:00Are you familiar with them? Sea Shepherd is a nonprofit,
- 14:06huge boat sponsored by Martin Sheen that goes around the world
- 14:12untangling dolphins and whales and and, you know, stopping the
- 14:17slaughter of dolphins over there in Japan and and cleaning up the
- 14:20ocean. It's just incredible thing.
- 14:22Yes, OK. I have heard of that.
- 14:24Yeah, I have. Yes.
- 14:26Yeah. Yeah.
- 14:27I thought about doing that. But it's hard to break away.
- 14:30And but it they do, it's such a good cause, too.
- 14:33And I've always been a I love the ocean.
- 14:36Now, have you ever thought about the Navy, like, because they get
- 14:39to travel, You know, they would say that.
- 14:41What's? Gonna be a snow for me.
- 14:45OK, Obviously, yes, I I did think about the Navy and
- 14:48actually almost torn the Navy because my granddaddy was in the
- 14:51Navy. And it's just a right.
- 14:54And so I went and I like took their test and and I was about
- 14:58to sign and then I scored that. What did you score?
- 15:02Very, very high. I could have done anything that
- 15:04I wanted. I was going to do foreign like,
- 15:06you know, like coding, decoding, relations, stuff like that.
- 15:09Like spy work. OK.
- 15:10But I thought about the past. Oh, that that must have been.
- 15:14You did really well. That.
- 15:15I think I know what you got. Don't don't tell me your score.
- 15:18I'm not gonna tell you my score. The point was that I I thought
- 15:23back on the previous three years of my life and they had how free
- 15:27and amazing they had been because I was able to travel
- 15:29wherever I wanted and experience the things that I wanted.
- 15:32And I realized that the the truly, the only thing that I was
- 15:35really craving from the military was boot camp.
- 15:40No, I wanted to be like an extreme workout and experience,
- 15:45and now I get that free without having to sacrifice or sign my
- 15:49life away or kill people, you know?
- 15:52That's why when I see hot charcoal, I pick it up.
- 15:55I like the pain. I do.
- 15:58Military compact as a whole is, like, morally conflicting, you
- 16:02know? Oh, that that part of it?
- 16:05Yeah, yeah. Like, I well, there's like they
- 16:13got a good cooking, like culinary arts program.
- 16:15I looked into a friend of mine and I just, I like the idea of
- 16:20travel and then I looked into and you might have done this
- 16:23too. I'm I'm just so glad that that
- 16:27we we crossed wingspan here to share these these rapid ideas
- 16:31but I looked into like Carnival Cruise lines and stuff.
- 16:34You ever looked in the cruises and what that would entail?
- 16:37I've never been on a cruise and I would never try to go on a
- 16:41cruise. That's not really my buy.
- 16:43But for the people that like that kind of thing, I think it's
- 16:45a great, usually safe way. To experience a little bit of
- 16:50the ocean, but that's just, that's not for me.
- 16:53Well, I looked into it. You got to like work nine days
- 16:55in a row, then one day off and you're talking.
- 16:56About working there. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 17:01Like you want to go on a cruise? No.
- 17:04Yeah, Like working and all these things and stuff because they
- 17:07hire positions and you got to play all these.
- 17:11I mean, it's no different than working in a restaurant, you
- 17:14know what I mean? I don't need that.
- 17:17It's a lot of fun. You get to travel.
- 17:20Like democracy. And I'm good.
- 17:23So now where is the, what is your favorite place to sell to
- 17:30before we before we sell to other destination of topics here
- 17:35because I I think we have similar former itineraries of
- 17:41places we've visited like for instance, I think you've been to
- 17:44Costa Rica, I've been there too. I do.
- 17:49Every is so precious and beautiful in in its own way.
- 17:55Vietnam, Italy, France, Ecuador, the the Caribbean.
- 18:00I mean it like you can't really say like one place is the best,
- 18:05but I will say some place that is very accessible for most
- 18:09Americans to get to. Are the Channel Islands outside
- 18:12of California? So you guys can actually like
- 18:15book a ticket on one of the vessels and they will take you
- 18:18out to the Channel Islands and you can stay the night there.
- 18:21You can go camping, you can go hiking.
- 18:22It's so beautiful. It's it's like the most perfect
- 18:26date. I would have to say like if you
- 18:28really want to impress your date, take them on a cruise out
- 18:31to the Channel Islands. Yes, I do.
- 18:34Yes, I do. Yes.
- 18:36The problem is I can't stay there too long with them because
- 18:38they charge by the hour, so that would be hard.
- 18:41You gotta get a different kind of date, Sir.
- 18:45Speed dating, though. Look at that beautiful can I?
- 18:47Is it the sun? It's a volcano.
- 18:50It's a freaking volcano. Oh my God, is it erupting?
- 18:56Is it erupting? No, OK.
- 19:03That is, what are your quarters like?
- 19:08Because obviously you hang in the ship as the ship mate, I
- 19:13think. Is that your title?
- 19:14Am I saying that right, ship mate?
- 19:16Sure, yeah. I'm a deckhand, essentially.
- 19:18First mate, you know, mate to the captain, whatever, that's
- 19:23awesome. Yeah.
- 19:27Do you have to have a bunk bed and and share with people I
- 19:30mean. Because you're.
- 19:34Two or three other men. Sometimes it's very small.
- 19:37So this is where things get interesting, and this is where
- 19:39the diagnosis starts to come. Here is I am a professionally
- 19:43trained mental evaluator. Skype people know.
- 19:49And let's get into this, let's get into this, because a lot of
- 19:51women are listening here tonight and they're saying I love
- 19:55everything, she said. But the idea of being in a tiny,
- 20:00you know. Contraption with with other kind
- 20:04of burly men, you know, so to speak, and having sure your
- 20:08moving quarters. That's a hard sell for a lot of
- 20:10women, is it not? Good.
- 20:15That's what I have to say. Good, because this isn't meant
- 20:19for for women. You know what I mean?
- 20:24Right. So what is?
- 20:25It about, I think, that women should be.
- 20:29Raising children and being soft and vulnerable, and this isn't a
- 20:34conducive environment to that. So no, there's a reason why it's
- 20:39male dominated it. It's extremely physically
- 20:42challenging. It's mentally challenging.
- 20:45But nonetheless, there are tons of women who are in the industry
- 20:49like, we're making it happen and it's not, you know?
- 20:56I I don't know if I necessarily would personally want to work
- 21:00with a bunch of women. You know, I feel safer with men,
- 21:03you know what I mean? The more mechanically inclined
- 21:07stuff like that, right, right. Well, see like it's not the
- 21:12women I'm worried about, it's the scorned women I'm very
- 21:15worried about. There is those those type are
- 21:21are not really of this earth. But what is it about because I I
- 21:26see a lot of myself in some of these stories that I hear in
- 21:32yours especially. What is it about the challenge
- 21:36and challenging not just yourself but challenging the
- 21:40social norms and the perception of what a you know you
- 21:46personally can do and not do. Because obviously there's a lot
- 21:49of pushback physically, emotionally, but I'm sure
- 21:52there's a lot of pushback within your own family circles and
- 21:56friends saying, wait a minute, Are you sure you know?
- 21:59And so there's a lot more challenge than, you know, be a
- 22:05professional manicurist, which would be a little odd and weird
- 22:08and strange. It's not about the problems at
- 22:12all. Actually, that's that's never
- 22:14why I did it. I never did it because I
- 22:17thought, oh, I'm gonna be different or I'm pushing against
- 22:19the grain. No, absolutely not.
- 22:21Mind the challenge. You don't mind the challenge.
- 22:23You're not even thinking about that.
- 22:24You're either the adventure well.
- 22:26I think that's like a sick mind game that people play with
- 22:29themselves. Especially like, if you're gonna
- 22:31do that, it's it's for some kind of like, superficial, egoistic
- 22:36reason. But I'm here because I literally
- 22:39needed to be here. Fortune saved my life.
- 22:42It wasn't calling I had. I had to come up.
- 22:44I had no choice. So the door opened.
- 22:46I went through it. I didn't know what the fuck I
- 22:48was doing. I didn't know anything, but you
- 22:51just go because you know in your heart and in your gut you have
- 22:55to do this. I don't know why I have to do
- 22:56it. I just have to do it.
- 22:58And then it shows up in the end like you know it will reveal
- 23:01itself as time puts on. But it's never about like this
- 23:06is super different. I'm gonna be so different.
- 23:08I'm I'm not a well, I don't think I'm in it to that extreme.
- 23:14I'm not a feminist in that sense.
- 23:16No, not at all. That there.
- 23:19Are a lot of females that work in this industry who are
- 23:21feminists? No.
- 23:22Let me, let me try to, your honor.
- 23:25Let me try to explain myself, please, before you send me to 35
- 23:28years of life is but so so me. I like the challenge of like
- 23:39what I do. I like the challenge of trying
- 23:43to better my next project and challenge of doing it in a
- 23:49timeline and a precision get better.
- 23:53To me, that's if it's not a challenge for itself and maybe
- 23:57the Capricorn thing. A lot of people have told me I
- 24:01just like the idea of doing something that is creative, but,
- 24:08you know, maybe it can't be done or I don't think I could have
- 24:12done it, but I can do it. And I I I enjoy those
- 24:14challenges. It's not something where I I
- 24:18well, I've done it. Okay.
- 24:19Time to turn in and let me go back to monastery, you know, so
- 24:25it's not not in that sense. I just like the personal, I
- 24:29guess 11 Challenge is another one's goal, right.
- 24:33I like the idea of setting that goal of where I want to take it,
- 24:39you know, you know, because like I remember when I first was
- 24:42driving the challenge or the goal was to we'll drive on the
- 24:47freeway. Well, the next goal was, well,
- 24:49let's let me drive to Vegas, you know, And it was freeing.
- 24:54And when I proved it to myself, and as cliche as I love it, if
- 25:01you put your mind to it, sometimes you can accomplish a
- 25:04lot of things. And those other times, well, you
- 25:09know, you got to keep trying. Yeah, just follow your heart and
- 25:14do what feels right and you know, go where you're called, go
- 25:17where you felt that. That's it.
- 25:20We don't have any like pre. Intended things that we're
- 25:25trying. I mean, obviously, like, yes,
- 25:27I'm trying to get my captain's license and stuff like that, but
- 25:31but I'm not. I'm not going to embark upon
- 25:33something with some kind of egotistical goal of proving
- 25:37something. I just simply follow my heart
- 25:40and and will and like go where you are called and where you
- 25:45feel to go. And you're doing this because
- 25:48you love it, and because you're feeling called to do it.
- 25:51So yeah, it might be against the norm or against the grain or
- 25:54might be challenging or whatever.
- 25:55Those are all like side effects. We're not doing it because of
- 25:59that. Ohh let me go be the most
- 26:06different person I can be. Like what would be the most like
- 26:10anti feminine thing to do like cleaning sewers?
- 26:13I don't know. Being construction worker,
- 26:17cleaning sewers made my list. Hold on, keep going, I.
- 26:22Don't know any bitches that would be willing to do that.
- 26:25Again, you never told me that it was OK to curse, so please
- 26:28confirm that. OK.
- 26:29No, it's you're fine. You're fine.
- 26:31I push the confirm button. I'm walking inside.
- 26:35For a second, I'm walking inside.
- 26:36I mean, confirm is, is this your e-mail?
- 26:39Confirm. Now here's another thing.
- 26:42How about women bowlers? Oh, this is good.
- 26:45I'm gonna make all this women. I bet they're really good.
- 26:49We'll do the men next. We're gonna start with the women
- 26:51first. OK, So women bowlers, You don't
- 26:54see that often. I'm not sure ESPN even carries
- 26:57it. OK, here's another one.
- 27:01Women. Yeah, women.
- 27:05Line tamers. Haven't seen that one yet.
- 27:10Like, like lion tamers. You know, like those people that
- 27:13rastle the bears and all those types.
- 27:15You have seen a few. OK, OK.
- 27:18You've seen them. You've seen them.
- 27:20Yeah, So many. Like, how about women
- 27:23astronomers? Women, astronomers.
- 27:27You're kidding, right? You're kidding, right?
- 27:30That's all we have are women? No.
- 27:33I would think about things like construction, work, people.
- 27:39That's too easy. Well, yeah, it's construction,
- 27:43you know, I got to think about that one.
- 27:45But so anyways, enough about that because it's late night
- 27:50thoughts now. Are you a late night owl or are
- 27:54you an early bird special kind of person?
- 27:58Dean, darling, there is no such thing anymore as time when
- 28:02you're a fisherman. Because sometimes I go to bed at
- 28:058:00 AM. Sometimes I need to have a beer
- 28:08at 9:00 AM so that I can go to bed because that's bedtime.
- 28:11We work 24/7. We work around the clock.
- 28:15There is no such thing as like a schedule or a regular schedule.
- 28:20We fish at night. So yeah, I'm an early bird.
- 28:25I'm a late bird. I'm all of the birds, OK?
- 28:30And if you were a bird, what kind of bird would you behave?
- 28:33So I have an. I need to visualize things.
- 28:36Honestly, like, if we could talk about birds for a second, 'cause
- 28:38I literally just saved the seabirds life.
- 28:41I took it into my own personal bunk and fed it and like
- 28:44rehabilitated it. It was the cutest little seed
- 28:46petrol, these tiny little black birds, the cutest of the week at
- 28:51sea petrol. They're so cute over that song.
- 28:57Blackbird singing in a dead of night.
- 29:00Take the. Eagle.
- 29:02You know, we have all over the place here.
- 29:04They're so fucking. I'm a I'm partial.
- 29:08I like 2 cans. I like 2 cans.
- 29:11I drove. I drew a two can once.
- 29:14Them Salt. No hate.
- 29:16But seriously, like, if you want they're whores and they're used
- 29:19as tourists for tourist birds. Oh my God.
- 29:25I'm just kidding. Oh my God.
- 29:28I love all of animals. But you know the birds that are
- 29:32like that people pay to like take pictures with and stuff.
- 29:37Well, after having rehabilitated and rescued a few birds, I
- 29:39understand that like the more you touch them, the less able
- 29:42they are to fly because the your hand oils are fucking up their
- 29:45feathers. And so I just, I just see those
- 29:48birds getting manhandled by tourists all weekend and it
- 29:51like, breaks my heart. I'm like, wow, they're obviously
- 29:54not flying. No, they're not.
- 29:57And, you know, I don't think I've ever witnessed a Penguin
- 30:00flying either. Just while we're at it.
- 30:03Okay, are you saying that two cans don't fly?
- 30:06I don't know cuz I really don't know.
- 30:09You know, I've only I'd have to get.
- 30:13I haven't studied them that species in a while so.
- 30:17Move on. Yes.
- 30:23So as as we kind of you know what is, what are what do you
- 30:27usually when it's like frozen I guess you know like you can't
- 30:31look like sail on the seas. What do you do for your
- 30:35downtime? Are you go on the land or do you
- 30:40do you go skydiving or you know mountain climbing?
- 30:45There's a lot of mountains there, I would assume you know.
- 30:50You rotate fisheries, essentially.
- 30:52You just go to a different fishery during the winter and
- 30:55for me that's usually squid in California or lobster in
- 31:01somewhere on the on the West Coast.
- 31:03But further, yeah, you just, yeah, but a lot of people go
- 31:08crabbing in the winter. I don't think that's something
- 31:10that I personally could ever do or would want to do.
- 31:14I mean, I am a fisherman. Crabbing is so hard and intense.
- 31:21I just don't think that I don't want it to come.
- 31:27Yeah. So that's so there is exposed
- 31:29like as a woman, I don't think that I could handle crabbing
- 31:33physically, physically handled, right.
- 31:36It's a tough one. Really tough.
- 31:39Tough. I mean, we're piling this like 4
- 31:42acre net for 15 hours a day, right?
- 31:45It's not easy. You are experiencing extreme
- 31:47mental fatigue, like fatigue, like out the ass.
- 31:50Plus you're already sleep deprived.
- 31:52Plus you're dealing with these tiny quarters of people that you
- 31:54have nothing in common with. Like the stress level is high,
- 31:58but you, you know, you're able to get through it.
- 32:01Crabbing is something that I've seen.
- 32:04I think it's just a whole different level.
- 32:07So with all this, all the emotional stress you were
- 32:13talking about there, and physical, physical one too, how
- 32:16do you, how do you, what do you do to relax?
- 32:20That's a really good question. And you know, one of the most
- 32:25vital and important things that I have taken away from fishing
- 32:29that has taught me is who are you?
- 32:34When everything is stripped away, who are you?
- 32:37Truly, at the core, how are you going to handle it?
- 32:40Because on land we always have some kind of comfort to turn to,
- 32:44whether that's alcohol, drinks, wine or weed or cigarettes or
- 32:51tobacco or TV or, you know, shows that we watch or movies or
- 32:57taking a shower, you know, going to sleep, reading.
- 33:03Yeah, OK, we can read. Do that.
- 33:05Listening to the radio, like so there's no TV, there's no
- 33:08Internet, like there's no alcohol, there's no tobacco,
- 33:12everything is stripped away, all creature comfort are completely
- 33:16stripped away. And you want to add on top of
- 33:19that deep deprivation and extremely physically challenging
- 33:24environment. So like, how do you react when
- 33:27you have? Is it hard to, like, keep in
- 33:31touch with friends and stuff or is that, yeah, yeah, you know, I
- 33:37don't have it. It's hard to see your children.
- 33:40It's it won't do anything. Like I I have a boyfriend and I
- 33:45literally just spoke to him for the first time in almost two
- 33:49months because, do you know what I mean?
- 33:54So he has zero service out here. And when you're gill netting,
- 33:58that's a whole different game. I mean literally on a phone at
- 34:02feet for 50 straight. Days.
- 34:06Not even taking a single shower. A single shower not even taking.
- 34:12That's very intense. People don't.
- 34:15That's why I'm saying that you can, you can, you can envision a
- 34:17farmer with cows or with vegetables, but nobody really
- 34:20understands fishing. And so I'm just with tiny little
- 34:25videos. I make it look really beautiful
- 34:27and pleasant. But.
- 34:29Truly, truly trying to expose the world to understand, like,
- 34:33where are the people coming from?
- 34:34Be conscious about what you're eating.
- 34:36Sushi in the middle of the desert like Vegas is
- 34:39unsustainable, so we just, we should think about that stuff.
- 34:43People are just blindly consuming with zero care, and
- 34:48we're out here literally risking our lives every single set to be
- 34:53able to provide you with that blind consumption.
- 34:55Yeah, the free market. Yeah, Yeah.
- 34:59You go where the market is. You're very reminiscent of, I
- 35:05watched this documentary on the on people that become Swami's
- 35:08over there in India. Yeah, yeah, really good.
- 35:14And they have to give all these things up that you're talking
- 35:18about. And I was watching this and
- 35:23majority of these people in this particular documentary was on
- 35:27the BBC and it was Louis Thoreau.
- 35:30Is that some kind of turning point in a kind of that that
- 35:36moment that made them behind whether it was they some of
- 35:43these people were gambling a lot or drinking or they they were in
- 35:48a very intense abusive situation or you know there's just walks
- 35:54of life but there there's that that that trauma bond I I
- 35:58noticed in this this particular. For the people that seat now,
- 36:04because they need like a separation, they need such an
- 36:08extensive healing that they literally have to remove
- 36:10themselves from that environment.
- 36:12I understand. I understand why people do that.
- 36:16Yeah. Yeah, So, you know, it's people
- 36:22are seeking something. You know, people are seeking
- 36:25something. A lot of people are seeking
- 36:26something and they're on a journey and it maybe it's
- 36:30personal or maybe it's televised, you know, as you were
- 36:34mentioning earlier. And you know, some people, some
- 36:39people are like seeking like a a best friend, right?
- 36:43Because the older friends suck. And then they give up and then
- 36:47they meet like their best friend, like when they're like
- 36:4962 years old. Is that crazy?
- 36:54I I don't think that's crazy. So do you know what contrarian
- 37:02means? Oh, my, you.
- 37:06You're the ultimate contrarian to my contrarian.
- 37:10So what is? What is that?
- 37:12What does that make the contrary to the contrarian?
- 37:18So I'm not a contrarian, not intentionally, but I will just
- 37:22speak how I feel, truthfully and if contrary.
- 37:28Very good. You are at Joan of Arc.
- 37:34Oh, my God. Well, we're going to end this
- 37:38wonderful episode. And I want to thank you for
- 37:42coming on and I hope you and get a lot of catches.
- 37:48Yes, we fish early tomorrow morning.
- 37:50We're starting at 6:00 AM and then we're going to three days
- 37:54straight. So that means not very much.
- 37:57Perfect. Yeah, we're very excited.
- 37:59The fish are jumping all around, which is a really good sign.
- 38:02And I hope you guys like wild caught salmon.
- 38:06Love it. Well, thank you, Katie Hamilton.
- 38:08Thank you very much. It's the conclusion of a late
- 38:27Nine Thoughts episode that I did last night.
- 38:29Before I give my peer review, why don't we go around the Real
- 38:32Deal round table here and start with some of our Real Deal
- 38:36members to get their sincere, honest review.
- 38:39Do not pull any punches and don't dare think there's going
- 38:43to be any retribution for your Real Deal review.
- 38:46So let's start with Lisa Strafford.
- 38:48What's your review? What's your take on what we just
- 38:51witnessed there, Lisa? OK, well, I really like her.
- 38:55I think she's adorable. She has a great personality and
- 38:58that's a really rough life. She's a rebel and free spirit
- 39:03and I would hang out with her and it's just very fascinating
- 39:10that she does. And you have to be a certain
- 39:12personality to do it, being a woman.
- 39:13And I would not want to be trapped in a bit with all those
- 39:16men. Very, very interesting.
- 39:20Yeah, that is right. I mean imagine and it's sad we
- 39:25didn't capture this in the interview, but she's like in a
- 39:28little cabin with like three other guys, bunk bed style,
- 39:33which let's go to Sean Gregorian, who is everyone to
- 39:37shy away from. A truly in depth analysis on
- 39:40you, film the culture and in motion here.
- 39:44Sean, What what is your take? I I liked it.
- 39:46I enjoyed listening to her because of the way she puts
- 39:51herself, you know, not in the comfort zone, but in a difficult
- 39:56job, having real raw experiences in life and challenging herself.
- 40:03We'll come back to that. Let's go to Dana real quick.
- 40:05Dana, let's get your take. Go ahead.
- 40:07What? What's your take on the whole?
- 40:10Ma'am, I have to give it up to her with that kind of lifestyle
- 40:13on the boat. Wow.
- 40:16Not for me, but I, I, I'm more prior to her for that kind of
- 40:20life that she's living for her work.
- 40:22I mean, wow. I I couldn't do that.
- 40:24I mean I do air crying out loud. But The thing is living on a
- 40:28boat and like running with those men, that's some rough work.
- 40:31And then she said it's all physical and mental.
- 40:33I just wow, more prior to for that.
- 40:36But I mean. She sounds like she enjoys it,
- 40:40though. At least she's enjoying what
- 40:41she's doing. I could.
- 40:43I couldn't do it OK, but OK I. Thought I thought she was OK.
- 40:48Seth, I was reading some of your comments during the the actual
- 40:51episode and we should feel some sort of guilt for eating the
- 40:57food people are you know, that she's risking herself in the
- 41:00same kind of echoes we kind of hear from cops like exactly what
- 41:05we need. You know what I'm saying?
- 41:07But isn't this is her choice? Like the Swami's, the people who
- 41:10become Swami's? She signed.
- 41:12To do that right. Nobody's forcing her, you know?
- 41:16It's like, you know, this is what she wants to do.
- 41:18This is what she chose to do. Trying to figure out what the
- 41:21whole topic was about. She seemed kind of deep to me,
- 41:25like a lot of stuff she was talking about was was really
- 41:28deep, and I kind of just zoned out.
- 41:30But then when I got part to the power, she was like, I'm risking
- 41:33my life. And I'm like 4 guys.
- 41:36And it's dangerous. I'm like, yeah, I do dangerous
- 41:38work too. I can actually die on the work
- 41:40that I'm doing. If I'm up on a ladder 20 feet
- 41:43and I fall, you know, I could die.
- 41:45Am I gonna, like, make the customer feel bad that, you
- 41:48know, I'm risking my life to do whatever?
- 41:51It's like, no, well, I mean this is what I got.
- 41:55OK, here's my take on it And then it's free for all.
- 41:57So if you just having a pinch just pipe in and don't don't
- 42:00hesitate whatsoever. I felt she was very off putting
- 42:05where I was just trying to you know just have a a friendly
- 42:09conversation as we did prior to the interview and it it was
- 42:14almost there's nothing I could say that was anyway shape or
- 42:18form. Like I said, two cans.
- 42:19She's like, fuck the two cans. I'm like, okay.
- 42:22What? What?
- 42:23You said something about. Penguins fly.
- 42:26And then she said something about two cans.
- 42:28Like she totally changed the bird on you, right?
- 42:32Cuz I well, I mentioned prior that I, you know, I happen like
- 42:342 cans. Just they're colorful.
- 42:36I mean, I don't know if they're asshole birds, but I mean it was
- 42:39like, fuck the two cans. I'm like, well, cruising.
- 42:40You ever thought about cruising? Fuck cruising.
- 42:42Fuck the Navy. That's why you kept saying.
- 42:46That's why you called their contrarian?
- 42:49Well, well, she's. I'm kind of a contrarian, but
- 42:52she's like, it's like to me it was like, it's like the people
- 42:55at high school that are they're goth, but they're trying to be
- 42:58different, but they really go out of the way to be different.
- 43:01Being Goth, it's. Like Devil's Advocate, Almost
- 43:04right? It was to me.
- 43:06It was like difficult. It was.
- 43:10She's a little, I could tell she was tired, a little.
- 43:12A little feisty in the sense of just someone who's saying that
- 43:19they're not going against the grain or social norms, but no,
- 43:22you are. You are going against the grain
- 43:25of social norms. That was my take on it.
- 43:27And I was trying to get past all this, but it was I gave up this,
- 43:32I gave up that. I don't need coffee, I don't
- 43:34need weed. And you know, I've just this is
- 43:37that's where it was frustrating. Myself on the back?
- 43:42Yeah, that's why I kept calling her Joan of Arc.
- 43:44So that's kind of my first. Take on it.
- 43:47And I it was. It was irritating me because she
- 43:50was irritated. I was just trying to be as
- 43:52friendly and polite as ever. And that's kind of my that's why
- 43:57I'm like, I'm just going to end this now because it wasn't to
- 44:00me, it wasn't going to go anywhere pleasant at the rate it
- 44:03was going. It would have been good TV if it
- 44:05did go further and got a little spicy.
- 44:09Well, now that you mentioned that, yeah, I probably should
- 44:11continue and. Then hit the every button.
- 44:14Yeah, I mean, like, I mean when people like curse, they don't go
- 44:19out of their way to like, curse. Like, oh fucking hell, you know,
- 44:22people go. I don't fucking believe it.
- 44:24You know what I'm saying? It's like just reminded me of
- 44:27the goth girls and the the punker girls that go out of
- 44:30their fucking way to be noticed and say no, I want to.
- 44:32Be so edgy. Yeah, I'm so edgy.
- 44:36I'm wearing a Ramones tshirt. OK, let's get now.
- 44:41Am I far off? No, I felt that with her mouth.
- 44:45Yeah, she's. It's not very.
- 44:47I know she's on a fishing boat, but come on now, her tone as
- 44:51well, I thought, yeah, she's so defensive.
- 44:54I thought you handled it nicely. I thought so too.
- 44:59I thought you handled it really, really nicely because in the
- 45:02past you wouldn't have just saying it's true.
- 45:05Well, there's a lot of truth to that, you know, There's a lot of
- 45:11truth to that. You also said yeah, she reminds
- 45:14you of a man. You said that Yeah, she reminds
- 45:17you of a dude. She acts like the male's on the
- 45:20boat. Yes, that's what she's doing.
- 45:22She's living with them. You think she's not cursing like
- 45:23that for that reason? What happens?
- 45:26Yeah, she sounds like I told her she has the mouth of a truck
- 45:29driver. Manly mouth and messages.
- 45:33Shawn, let's get your take on that now that you kind of heard
- 45:36my side because I really, you know, me saying, do you like the
- 45:43challenge wasn't really trying to shatter her entire world, but
- 45:48she kind of took it that way, I felt.
- 45:50I understand. Yeah.
- 45:51I get where you're coming from. I guess there's different things
- 45:53that you could take from this her, you know, interacting with
- 45:57her was was difficult. She does have a tone in a way.
- 46:01I guess I was just putting myself in the shoes of somebody
- 46:04who would go out and do a job like that.
- 46:07Imagining myself, you know, not having the creature comforts and
- 46:10being in danger and, you know, being so.
- 46:12I guess I was thinking about that whole experience.
- 46:14But I I know what you're saying because you know as an
- 46:18interviewer when you you know, obviously this is a challenge.
- 46:21There's there's no way around it.
- 46:23Doing something like that is challenging.
- 46:25And for someone to play semantics and be like, well,
- 46:27it's not a challenge, you know, that's that's just a turnoff for
- 46:30an interviewer. And then at the end when she was
- 46:33like, it's not crazy. I was like.
- 46:35Well, she doesn't know what he means by crazy.
- 46:37That's just kind of a figure of speech that people use when
- 46:41they're talking about like a Would you imagine it would
- 46:44happen this way if I told you to, if you had a big ordeal
- 46:48later this evening? I told you to break a leg.
- 46:50I hope you think I don't mean for you to really break a leg.
- 46:54Yeah. You know, like, I mean, if she
- 46:57still gets, if she's so against challenges, why is she
- 47:00challenging me every other syllable that comes out?
- 47:02Yeah. Yeah.
- 47:03And and you know I that is distasteful when I'm when I'm
- 47:07talking to somebody and rather than responding to they know the
- 47:12gist of what I'm saying And rather than responding to that
- 47:14to hang on one word and and object to that's, you know,
- 47:18that's that's just. Patty.
- 47:20I mean Dana, I'm going to go to you because you like boats.
- 47:26You know and you know you've had hard jobs And Seth, you too.
- 47:30I mean you just if you were trying to really show how cool
- 47:33your job was would you really get a piece of cake.
- 47:38Well, right. But you don't say this is you
- 47:40know I can't She's like I haven't been able to talk to my
- 47:44boyfriend in two months. I haven't showered in two
- 47:46months. I sleep in 1/4 surrounded by
- 47:48three guys. I have no opportunity to watch
- 47:51TV. No cars.
- 47:52I mean, she's literally without thinking, subconsciously telling
- 47:56me how shitty her life is. But then if I say that kind of
- 47:59sucks, No, it doesn't, Well, OK. I mean, it is semantics.
- 48:03Isn't? Are we?
- 48:04Were we? I guess Seth and Dan, I'll ask
- 48:06you, was that a perfect display of professional semantics like
- 48:12hockey? Like hockey?
- 48:13Well, just the back and forth. I mean, every time I was
- 48:16pitching what I thought. Don't stop being hurt.
- 48:19Yeah, you. Know what I'm saying?
- 48:20Pretty, pretty good, Dean. And you?
- 48:23You almost like Fetter like material so that she could hit
- 48:27back. That's right.
- 48:30That's right. Like.
- 48:31Laid it up for it. She she dunked it every time the
- 48:34Drona Bach comment, just like fed into her ego did it.
- 48:39I mean, Lisa, I'm gonna go to you because, you know at first
- 48:46you were saying how cool she is. And I agree the beginning I felt
- 48:50the beginning was it was rather pleasant, you know, and.
- 48:54I thought she's a rebel, but she's a rebel who I think is
- 48:58subconsciously trying to be 1 where some people are just one
- 49:01by nature, not by practice. You could be a rebel and still
- 49:05be a stay at home mother, or you could be a rebel and be a nine
- 49:09to five her who is supporting people and contributing to
- 49:12causes or whatever. There's all pathways to be
- 49:15rebels, but at any point in time in the conversation, and I have
- 49:22to ask you is and if I'm wrong, maybe you didn't see it, did
- 49:26you? At what point did the interview
- 49:28turn maybe a little sour, if it did at all?
- 49:32She asked. I think she asked three times
- 49:34about cursing and it was like defense.
- 49:36It was like just defensive. I was like you asked the second
- 49:40time and then the third time, and she was like, harsh about
- 49:42it. Like I was like, well, I'm gonna
- 49:44curse anyway, you know? Like, why, right?
- 49:46You know. What I'm saying cuz she's like
- 49:48a. Dude, I'm gonna sway like a
- 49:49sailor. She's acting like one of the
- 49:51guys that that's just what's gonna happen.
- 49:54Like one time I had a friend who I worked with since like 1988 up
- 49:58until like 2007. Seriously.
- 50:01And she was like my big sister. Anyway, she never cursed.
- 50:03Never cursed, right? Well then we we disconnected and
- 50:07then we just reconnected cuz her her second husband died.
- 50:10The love of her life. Well, guess what?
- 50:11All of a sudden she's like F this, F that, F this.
- 50:13And I'm like, what? Like this girl never cursed.
- 50:16Ever. She would never and I did and
- 50:17she would always be like Lisa, you know?
- 50:19Anyway, so The thing is, she cursed.
- 50:21Well, then I found it. And it's weird.
- 50:22It's a weird connection because it's funny that it's a big long
- 50:24story, guys. I won't get on the show about
- 50:25it, but it's it's like layers of connections.
- 50:27Her husband's like a big cursor. Like they cursed all the time.
- 50:30And and anyways, my point to you is like, I think the environment
- 50:32has a lot to do with it too. OK, let's go to someone else.
- 50:35Seth, what say you on this? Should I have kept going or did
- 50:43I stop at the right time? Because at the same time, you
- 50:45know, when you're a host, you're also in my case, I'm thinking
- 50:48about the audience too. I'm always thinking about
- 50:51perception, because a lot of times perception can be reality
- 50:55for for many. Like you said you you kind of
- 50:58zoned out as many would you know in some cases so but that's what
- 51:04I'm saying. People do like whether it's
- 51:07music they can zone out but they still can hear tones right tone
- 51:11is very important melody in in music and conversation flow.
- 51:16And so was there any good that was that was going to come out
- 51:21of that, that interview or was it was it, was it the right time
- 51:26to hang the towel right there and then and even do a proper,
- 51:29you know, conclusion of the show?
- 51:31Yeah, it kind of just ended. But it was probably a good idea
- 51:35to end it there. I think if if you thought that
- 51:38there was value in continuing, you know for entertainment value
- 51:43you probably would have. But I think you you could kind
- 51:47of see the future that if he if he did try to continue it and it
- 51:51started to get ugly, then it probably would have been like an
- 51:55awkward scene. So entertainment value wise it
- 51:58probably wasn't a good idea to continue.
- 52:00It's a just end it another thing I felt too.
- 52:04I just felt that there is really nothing I could say that she
- 52:10didn't really have a a kind of a a very bad undertone of a
- 52:15response to. I mean I could have said like,
- 52:17you know, I I love wearing jackets.
- 52:20And she could say, well why would you like wearing jackets?
- 52:23Jackets are for quitters. You know, like there's nothing I
- 52:26could have said like I like water but you know, just like do
- 52:29you know where your water comes from?
- 52:30I mean just it was if. They like coffee.
- 52:34Yeah, I should. I like coffee like other, you
- 52:36know, millions of people that are on rock selling places and
- 52:40weed and. Coffee.
- 52:42Coffee. Weed.
- 52:45And so that that's kind of conclude that anyone have any
- 52:47final things to add. Should I bring her back or
- 52:51should I? Any final kind of final comments
- 52:54before we end this one? Can I say something?
- 52:56I have to say, yeah, he did really great with how you
- 52:58handled her. You didn't come across as
- 53:00defensive as she did look defensive.
- 53:02But The thing is, I just felt like all the things that I
- 53:04stated about her, if you put it all together, that's what you
- 53:07get. You get a personality like that.
- 53:08And I don't know if she's younger and those people, just
- 53:10sometimes you get people like that.
- 53:11But The thing is, I thought you handled this class and I didn't
- 53:13get that overall tone to where to where you, if you wanted to
- 53:17air it, like I would still air it is my point.
- 53:19If that was your question. OK, OK.
- 53:24Yeah. No, no, no, that's good.
- 53:25No, no, no. This is what we want to hear.
- 53:27That's what we want to hear. We just want to hear like I
- 53:29should. Yeah.
- 53:30I guess there. There's a final thing.
- 53:31Should I hear this? There's a kind of final, final
- 53:35question. What?
- 53:36What does everyone think? I think so.
- 53:40I the the redeeming aspect of it for me is basically what I said
- 53:46if if people are focusing on. Her job in imagining what it
- 53:49would be like to do something like that, I I guess.
- 53:52I don't know. But the the times, I mean, could
- 53:56you edit out the worst exchanges?
- 53:59Maybe, You know, like the challenging thing?
- 54:01When that that would be hard because that was the deal
- 54:06breaker. Yeah, yeah, that's where.
- 54:08Well, the. Yeah.
- 54:10When you said isn't that crazy? And she's like, it's not crazy,
- 54:13that was just the last drop, I think.
- 54:16Yeah, I think if if you went on after that it, it probably would
- 54:21have been only to look at the awkward exchanges as as like
- 54:25Seth said, you know, end up being some kind of amusement or
- 54:27entertainment for people. But I mean, the problem with
- 54:30this is that, I mean, for instance, debate is one thing,
- 54:33like you could sit and debate with someone, but to have these
- 54:36testy, like passive aggressive exchanges is not.
- 54:40Comfortable and and not the same as just outright debate with
- 54:44somebody, right? It was a little testy.
- 54:48That's what I got too. I I felt testy.
- 54:51Danna, did you say Eric or no? No, I think you said I'm, I'm, I
- 54:55figure you'd be doing some serious editing on it, but I
- 54:59think it'll. I'm gonna be good.
- 55:01Could. Could.
- 55:03Chef. What's a You?
- 55:06I say thumbs down, okay, it goes down.
- 55:10Lisa Shepherd saying that maybe the rough environment is taking
- 55:15a toll on her mental health and she's becoming kind of the
- 55:19testosterone early man she hangs out with.
- 55:22Is that fair to say? Yeah.
- 55:25Yeah, I agree with that. You know how this cabin fever
- 55:29and you go crazy? Maybe that happens on boats as
- 55:32well. It's got to, yeah.
- 55:35It's got to. When you're not on, when you're
- 55:37not on land and and walking. Yeah, I never thought about
- 55:42that. Like like I remember 3.
- 55:43People I remember my grandfather was in the Navy for 22 years.
- 55:48His cousin, I believe or brother-in-law was in the Navy
- 55:51and he was in a submarine for a long time or an exceptional
- 55:56amount of time, and he said he lost his own.
- 55:57Yeah, yeah, it does. Where it does.
- 56:01Where? That's very true.
- 56:02And and you're risking, you know, like she said, you know,
- 56:04life. Very interesting point, Okay.
- 56:07We're going to end it there. We're going to end it there.
- 56:10I'll never eat seafood again. I'll never.
- 56:12I'm never going to. That's right.
- 56:17There you have it. So I want to thank all my
- 56:19patrons here who are getting their honest review and I don't
- 56:24think any women here tonight are going to be signing up for any
- 56:26crab fishing expeditions like now.
- 56:29So that's how that one is. Alright, thank you everybody.
- 56:32And for all of us here, we're doing meeting.
- 56:33I'm Dean Ryan, saying mahalo.
