- 0:03SPEAKER_01: Welcome to the Seeking Approval Podcast.
- 0:05SPEAKER_01: I'm Dr.
- 0:06SPEAKER_01: Chris Smitherson from the Ilias Methodist Church.
- 0:08SPEAKER_01: You know, life moves first.
- 0:10SPEAKER_01: And faith is coming to me first.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: I want to take some time to switch out with you and have some honest conversations from the Word of God about daily life.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: So join me here today on Seeking Approval.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: Welcome back to Seeking Approval.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: If you're watching with us on video, you can see that we are in the studio today.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: We've got a lot of our recording from our home office.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: And today we're actually back in studio.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: Feels so good to be here.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: Great setup.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: And I love it.
- 0:45SPEAKER_01: The church has done such a wonderful job for us here.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: But if you're listening with us through podcast, well, it's just the same old voice that's here with you again.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: I've got an interesting video in our video series where we're taking uh things that have uh come across our desk or computer, phone, things that are sent to us, people asking questions.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: Uh and uh so I've been doing this video series and I've got an interesting one today.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: And uh the thought may be that uh some of our latest videos have been from these far left reaching uh pulpits.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: And I keep saying that you know this is not just in the far left.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: There are people that are in churches that look like and sound just like what we would sound like that are still preaching things that are very false.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: Uh and that is uh the case for today.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna play the video for you real quick uh from Dylan Oz.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: Uh he's a pastor of I think Anchor Baptist Church uh in Oklahoma City.
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: Uh looks like a relatively young man.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm not sure, but I'll give you uh a little bit more about that in just a moment.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: But uh let me play this video for you uh for just a moment.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: We live in a day and age where wives will complain where it's like, my husband yelled at me, my husband corrected me, my husband used a tone with me.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Well, why are you pissing off your husband?
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Why are you being a bad wife?
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Why are you disobeying your husband?
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: Why are you backtonking him?
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Because you know what's not happening in marriages, especially in fundamental Baptist marriages, new unhappy marriages, you know what's not happening where a wife is meek and quiet and has a good attitude and loves her husband and keeps the house clean and feeds him good meals and gives him due benevolence and is just doing everything he wants, and then the husband is just yelling at her, correcting her, and having a tumble with her, then that doesn't exist.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: And so guess what?
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: If your husband's mad at you, that's your fault.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: You say, Well, I do all of those things, and my husband still yells at me.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: Okay, well, you married a loser.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: Sorry, you married a loser, but you know what, that's not the people in this room.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: That's not the new IFB marriages.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: If you are just getting yelled at by your husband, you're pissing off your husband, look in the mirror, honey.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: It's your fault.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: All right, as you can see in this video, there's a lot to break down in this.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: Um, and we're gonna do our very best.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: The first thing that we need to do is uh I want to clarify a couple things that you may have heard in this video and you may be wondering about.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: He talks about the uh new IBF, the new independent uh new IFB, the new independent fundamental Baptist uh church.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: Now we are an independent fundamental Baptist church.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: Uh we use the King James, uh we are premillennial and uh we uh non-Calvinistic, we believe in whosoever will, uh, but we are independent.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: We don't belong to an association.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: That's what independent uh means.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: When you hear that, it doesn't mean we handle snakes or any of those other things as people might think it does.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: Matter of fact, if anybody ever brings a snake out in our church, there's probably going to be a plethora of gun barrels pointing at it, trying to shoot it.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: Um we don't handle snakes, we don't speak in tongues in our church.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: Independent just means that you are independent from any association or group of churches.
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: Our church, our congregation is responsible for uh all things that can are consist of our church, from the the the teaching, the preaching.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: Uh we pay our own bills.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: We don't have somebody that we can call to and ask if we run into hell or run into trouble and ask them for help.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: Um all those things, we are independent from those things.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: And there's reasons for that.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: There were there were movements uh that uh the association was taking years ago, uh places they were giving their money that uh that many people didn't believe uh the money should be going.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: And so there was a lot of strain.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: So years ago, the independent Baptist Church broke away from the association, uh just you know, simply saying we don't want to be part of that.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: Now, uh I'm sure back then there was a lot of arguments and things that went on over it, but today we don't argue about it.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: Uh we just don't, you know, we don't want to be part of uh uh any other association.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: Now, uh that said, uh inside the independent Baptist Church, there has been yet another uh break off, and it's really starting to it's really starting to get ridiculous uh and and giving uh I guess bad names uh to a lot of churches.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: Uh just like with the the recent split of the Methodist Church, it's really um I did a video uh with the Method, one of the Methodist, uh I think I did a video of it.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: Uh if not, I I did uh send it out to our church because we've had people that will say, well, you know, Baptist Methodist is basically the same thing.
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: And I sent out a video, uh, a compilation of uh these uh gay, lesbian, queer pastors that are all part of the lesbian church, and I made sure that our church understood we are not basically the same as the Methodist Church.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: The Methodist Church has underwent a major uh split, and part of the group has gone completely far left reaching.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: Um so anyway, now we have a group that is split off from the Independent Baptist Church called the New Independent Fundamental Baptist Church.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: That church started on Christmas Day in 2005 when Steven Anderson out of Phoenix, Tempe, Arizona, um started his church.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: Now you may have heard that name before.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: He is he has been in the news quite often.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: Most recently, he's been in the news for some um uh uh accusations inside his own family of uh maltreatment, uh abuse, uh things of that nature.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: You can read about all that.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: I'm not here to discuss those things, uh, but it does kind of lean to uh what we're talking about today.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: Um but um with this new independent uh fundamental Baptist Church, there are differences in our Baptist church and that one, even though it sounds similar, independent fundamental Baptist, new independent fundamental Baptist, you would think uh you know, pretty much the same thing.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: Not quite.
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: Uh there's some major doctrinal differences.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: Uh one of the big ones being in our uh view of eschatology and end times.
- 7:09SPEAKER_01: Uh many of the new IFB uh are uh um uh post-tribulation pre-wrath.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: Uh and if that doesn't mean if that doesn't make sense or mean anything to you, don't worry about it.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: Those who do, you understand what we're saying.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: Um they are post-tribulation pre-Wrath.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: Um there they're also there's a few other differences uh that they have uh that we don't uh we don't adhere to.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: One, as you've seen from this video, very, very strict uh adherence uh and almost elevation of male leadership.
- 7:43SPEAKER_01: Um they they over-emphasize that the males are the dominant figures and basically the women should keep quiet.
- 7:53SPEAKER_01: The other big difference that they have that uh I strongly disagree with is their view on Israel.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: They believe that the church has taken the place of Israel.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: It's called replacement theology.
- 8:04SPEAKER_01: We don't believe that at all.
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: Israel has its place.
- 8:07SPEAKER_01: Matter of fact, Paul said, Can God forget Israel?
- 8:10SPEAKER_01: God forbid.
- 8:10SPEAKER_01: That was what Paul said.
- 8:12SPEAKER_01: Uh so they've got replacement theory, they've got uh the the view on the rapture, and when that will uh take place.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: So there's a few differences.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: Um, their position on uh preaching and separation, uh, they preach a very uh what I will say hostile message.
- 8:31SPEAKER_01: Uh they enjoy to stir people um either in um uh in agreance or opposition.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: Um as long as it's loud, uh as the as far as the agreements or opposition, as long as it's loud, uh that's it almost seems like what they're seeking for.
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: Now I preach loud, I don't have a problem with loud preaching.
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: Um, but um there's a difference in preaching hostile.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: Um I often encourage our our young preachers here that when preaching from the pulpit, uh, we do need to use what I what I would say.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: Now I know the liberals have stolen this word, but inclusive language, meaning uh you you you want to, when you're in the pulpit, say we, we have all sinned.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: Uh when you start saying you have sinned, uh you start isolating and singling people out.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: No, we are all sinners.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: We all need a savior.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: It's not I'm no different than anybody else just because I'm standing in a pulpit.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: And so they they can get very hostile in singling people out as this video that you just watched.
- 9:39SPEAKER_01: So there's a lot of differences uh like that that are very fundamental differences um that that are that uh we just don't we don't share.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: And this view on relationship is one of those fundamental differences uh that I will disagree with.
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: So let me get back to our video uh and to uh this uh uh Mr.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: Awes, young man.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: Uh the first thing that I would encourage him uh as uh you know one who has young preachers here, uh, that uh we've had uh now, I think we're on, I don't remember how we've had here now.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: We've got quite a few.
- 10:15SPEAKER_01: Uh we've got our uh our youth pastor, we've got our young adult pastor, uh, we've got one who is now serving in the military.
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: We've got quite a few right now that are still part of our church.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: And the first thing that I would tell this young man is he needs to clean his mouth up.
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: Uh I don't like this what what we'll say pulpit cussing.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: People use that platform and that they're almost infallible as a way that they can use language that they ought not to use that is um uh it makes you sound very uh uh uh uneducated.
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: Uh so the first thing I would say uh to this young man, uh clean clean your language up.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: I I know that you dominate at your home and you probably dominate at your church, and nobody is allowed to cross you.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: Uh and if they do, then you throw out the thing that you're just you know attacking from Satan, uh, which is what Steven Anderson has started.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: Anytime something goes wrong, he attacks.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: I mean, he's called his own kids evil, uh wicked brats, and literal Satan.
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: Uh, those are quotes.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: Uh, you can go look those up uh because they have come out and um made some very dark accusations uh against the way that uh he runs his house.
- 11:33SPEAKER_01: And uh so now he's just saying it's attacks of Satan trying to stop the ministry.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: Not everything is an attack of Satan, sometimes you're just dead wrong.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: That's it.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: Uh and that's one thing that I don't like about uh uh this uh modern Christian movement that everything that happens is an attack from Satan.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: No, if somebody's pointing out something that's wrong, sometimes you're wrong.
- 11:54SPEAKER_01: And the the language that you're using from the pulpit is absolutely wrong.
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: Now you're not gonna find that word in the scripture that says do not use this word, or you're not gonna find a list of anybody wants to know, well, what's what's bad language?
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: What's foul language?
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: I mean, what is the you know, the Bible doesn't list these as foul language, it actually uses some of those words.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: Uh it uses them in the proper context.
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: When the Bible is talking about hell, it is talking about a literal place.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: When the Bible is talking about an ass, it's talking about a donkey uh or a cult.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: Uh it's not using them in the slang terms in which we use them.
- 12:27SPEAKER_01: And what you were using on the pulpit was a slang term, which uh this generation uh and the world that we live in equates that to foul language.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: So the first thing I would encourage you to do is to clean your language up.
- 12:41SPEAKER_01: The second thing that I would encourage this young man and anybody else who is uh following him is I would encourage you to do more research on what a biblical marriage should look like.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: Now, my wife and I have uh written a book on the uh the the husband and the wife.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: Uh she uh wrote one of uh uh one of our actually one of our top-selling books uh through our online distribution.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: You can get it on Amazon and some other places, uh, but it's called The Help Meet.
- 13:07SPEAKER_01: And it's it's a wonderful book.
- 13:09SPEAKER_01: And then I wrote one uh called It's It's Time to Quit You Like Men, where uh the book basically parallels each other chapter for chapter, the husband, the husband's responsibility and the bride's responsibility all the way through, from the emotional to the physical to you know the responsibilities at home, responsibilities, you know, spiritually, uh responsibilities with kids.
- 13:30SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's it's our view and you know what we take from the Bible and how we operate in our marriage.
- 13:35SPEAKER_01: And we've had a pretty good marriage.
- 13:37SPEAKER_01: Uh so people had oftentimes asked, you know, like you know, how do you all stay uh so active together and love one another?
- 13:44SPEAKER_01: We decided to write it down, uh, some of our thoughts.
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: We do a lot of marriage counseling.
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: So let's look at see what the Bible says about marriage.
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: I've been at this now for 12 minutes, uh just trying to just differentiate between the Baptist churches uh and uh this young man trying to give him a little bit of advice or anybody else who's watching him.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: All right, so let's get into this.
- 14:07SPEAKER_01: In this video, we see uh a couple of very appalling things.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: One was the language, two is uh his reaction to the women saying, if your husband's mad at you, it's your fault.
- 14:18SPEAKER_01: Wrong.
- 14:19SPEAKER_01: That is not the case.
- 14:21SPEAKER_01: Uh not in every case.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: Could it be?
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: Absolutely it could be.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: Uh could it be that the the wife is mad at the husband because he was wrong?
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: Husbands can be wrong.
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: Husbands are not infallible, uh, as these uh guys would allow have you to believe.
- 14:35SPEAKER_01: I would uh begin easily over in Ephesians chapter number five, and that's where everybody wants to go.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: We used to have a gentleman in the church uh that I was at before I was here when I was uh assistant pastor.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: Uh he would always say, Well, you go over and uh preach uh Ephesians 5.22 and preach Ephesians 5.22.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: So I did a series and and uh in our uh Bible study series, I did one on uh Ephesians chapter five and uh the um the relationship series.
- 15:01SPEAKER_01: And I it it is right there.
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: You we can't deny it.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: Verse 22 says, Wives, submit yourself unto your own husbands uh as unto the Lord.
- 15:10SPEAKER_01: And there you go.
- 15:10SPEAKER_01: And that's what every man wants to hear.
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: That's right, you'd submit, woman, you listen to what I say, which is what this pastor is preaching.
- 15:16SPEAKER_01: When I say these things from our pulpit, I'm not making it up.
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: There's people out there who actually preach this nonsense and and tomfoolery.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: That's it's it's foolishness.
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: But what this gentleman didn't like was when I went on down to verse number 25, when it says, Husbands love your wives.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, well, I love my wife, even as Christ also loved the church and gave himself for it.
- 15:39SPEAKER_01: We, as the husbands, have a greater responsibility to our wife.
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: Nowhere is it saying that the wife should be willing to lay her life down for us.
- 15:47SPEAKER_01: We should be willing to lay our life down for our wives.
- 15:51SPEAKER_01: That does not mean we rule over her with an iron fist.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: That does not mean that she is that she is subservient to us and only does what we say.
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: If you'll listen to what he said in this, that if if the wife does everything that the husband wants her to do, then he's not going to be upset at her.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: Are you kidding me?
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: I don't know what what world this guy lives in.
- 16:13SPEAKER_01: And maybe that works for his house, and maybe he's found a woman who will who will be sheepish and just bow her head every time he speaks and say yes, sir, and do exactly what he uh demands of her.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: Um, but that's not the real world.
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: And and and I'm gonna use scripture to show you this in just a moment, not just what I think, I'm gonna use scripture to show you this just a moment.
- 16:35SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna take you to one of the one of the greatest uh chapters on a wife uh in all of scripture, and we're gonna look at that.
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: So the the first thing is that this marriage is an equal partnership.
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: She should submit to the husband, but he should even submit lower than that because he should be willing to give his life for her.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: Now, a lot of responsibility does fall on the husband.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: I do believe that we we should be the ones that set the path.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: We're not always going to be well liked in our families because we have to set that path for our children and for our wife.
- 17:05SPEAKER_01: But we don't have to do it in anger.
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: In in Colossians 3 19, it says, Husbands, love your wives and be not bitter against them.
- 17:15SPEAKER_01: We're not to be bitter against her, you know, because she, you know, burnt your oatmeal.
- 17:22SPEAKER_01: I mean, that that stuff goes back to the schools of Gamelia and Hillel, whenever uh uh Jewish men could divorce their wives because they burnt the food.
- 17:31SPEAKER_01: This is the same junk that's cropping up.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: This has already happened back in the in the first century and before whenever the the rabbis were being trained.
- 17:41SPEAKER_01: Paul was trained in the school of Gamelia, and there was the two opposing schools.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: It's almost like the the Republicans and the Democrats.
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: They opposed almost on every account.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: And one was on the treatment of the husband.
- 17:55SPEAKER_01: The one school said if the if the wife turned too fast and her ankle showed out in public, divorce her.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: If she raised her voice and somebody could hear her uh raising her voice, her husband, divorce her.
- 18:06SPEAKER_01: If he burnt, if she burnt the food, divorce her.
- 18:08SPEAKER_01: That's the stupidity that you're hearing coming out of this pulpit.
- 18:11SPEAKER_01: And yes, I said that the stupidity, the foolishness, if you want a biblical word, the foolishness that's coming out of this pulpit.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: That's exactly what you sound like.
- 18:23SPEAKER_01: So we've already seen this before, but the Bible tells us to love your wives and be not bitter against her.
- 18:30SPEAKER_01: Uh James 1, 19 and 20 says, Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if any uh uh if let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to wrath.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: That that means we're not jumping at our wives because she messed something up or did something wrong.
- 18:47SPEAKER_01: I'm I I'll be the first to say that me, I don't walk in the light of perfection.
- 18:55SPEAKER_01: Maybe this Steven Anderson and and maybe this Dylan Oz, maybe they walk in the light of perfection, and everything they say in their house is might as well be the gospel because they are uh they are perfect.
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: And if that's their if that's the world that they live in, hey, congratulations, you've arrived, you've made it.
- 19:14SPEAKER_01: I've not made it there yet.
- 19:17SPEAKER_01: I've been I there's times I've I've said wrong, done wrong, I've tried to I've I've guided wrong, uh, I've missed the mark.
- 19:25SPEAKER_01: I mean it I don't know.
- 19:27SPEAKER_01: I it's almost hard to even discuss this because I can't wrap my mind around how perfect you must think you have to be to make the statements that was just made out of that pulpit.
- 19:39SPEAKER_01: But they were made, and now we're dealing with it on our end.
- 19:43SPEAKER_01: A godly wife is not a servant to the husband.
- 19:47SPEAKER_01: The responsibilities of a wife are beautifully laid out in Proverbs chapter number 31.
- 19:53SPEAKER_01: I I would go read it for you, but I'm I'm already uh a little bit long in this uh session that I'm I'm trying to take care of this morning.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: I would read Proverbs 31, but I would encourage you.
- 20:04SPEAKER_01: Uh go and read that that chapter.
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: And it gives a remarkable, I mean, a remarkable account of a woman who works diligently, cares for her husband, manages the responsibility of the house, and brings good to her husband.
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: And a man like the one you just saw on the video would say, Right, you tend to my needs.
- 20:27SPEAKER_01: But what you also see is she's not presented as a helpless individual who simply just waits on her husband's beck and call.
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: You see a woman that is industrious, you see the woman that's thoughtful, you see a woman that makes decisions, she manages business affairs, she cares for other people.
- 20:44SPEAKER_01: Look at Proverbs 31, 26.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: She opened her her mouth with wisdom, and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
- 20:52SPEAKER_01: Notice she opens her mouth, she talks, she brings wisdom to a conversation.
- 20:59SPEAKER_01: Sometimes she can bring wisdom to her husband who is lacking wisdom, and apparently we just saw one in this video who's lacking some wisdom.
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: He may need a strong woman, he may need a Deborah in his life.
- 21:19SPEAKER_01: This new independent fundamental Baptist movement is utterly ridiculous in in many of the things that they are preaching.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: And I I would say you know, doctrinally, there are some things that that will line up with scripture.
- 21:39SPEAKER_01: But they go so far off the deep end on some of these things, replacement theology with Israel, uh post-tribulation, pre-wrath.
- 21:47SPEAKER_01: I mean, you just have to deny scripture after scripture for that.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: But then on top of that, you get to this and how you how you uh look at your leadership and how you uh uh treat your family.
- 22:01SPEAKER_01: Let me go back to this this is how how they do the leadership and their family for a second.
- 22:08SPEAKER_01: That view and you can go on and watch the clips of some of these these new IFB pastors, they ignore what the word pastor means.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: We are sent to be a a minister, a servant to our church.
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: We're not we're not called to rule the church with an iron fist.
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: We're not called to run a church as my way the high or the highway.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: We are called to be a servant to these people.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: We are called to put the towel over our arm as Christ did.
- 22:47SPEAKER_01: So there's yes, there are there's some things that will that may look on surface that that the our the Baptist church that I grew up in, the Baptist church that I have known and love and and and uh have always been a part of.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: But I'm not foolish enough to say and and another thing where we differ is uh if you s if you're not a front part of the Baptist church, there there's another video from an IFB pastor.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: I I don't know that I'll deal with it or not.
- 23:14SPEAKER_01: Some things I just don't deal with, I don't I don't even give it credence, but he said there's only one church uh where you can be saved in, which is a new independent fundamental Baptist church.
- 23:25SPEAKER_01: I mean that was uh that's almost verbatim quote.
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: He said you're either a a new IFB or you're part of the Catholic Church.
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: I mean it's uh some of these some of this heresy that's coming out of the pulpit is so ridiculously off base, so far away from scripture that it's it it it it gives a lot of people a bad name and they make themselves look really foolish.
- 23:51SPEAKER_01: So I hope today has been a help to somebody.
- 23:55SPEAKER_01: I hope it uh clears up maybe uh maybe if somebody has questions, maybe it's just bringing light uh uh to the marriage and what uh uh what it should look like.
- 24:06SPEAKER_01: It should be a marriage of walking together.
- 24:09SPEAKER_01: And you can go all the way back to the very first marriage where Adam and Eve, when when God made Adam and God made Eve, he took her from the side and they walked together through the garden.
- 24:19SPEAKER_01: And that's how a marriage should be walking together, not one scolding another to make sure that she's doing exactly what she should do.
- 24:26SPEAKER_01: Grace and peace to you from Gilead Baptist Church.
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: Thank you for joining us today on Seeking Approval.
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: You know, our faith oftentimes grows in quiet places.
- 24:35SPEAKER_01: I hope today's conversation gave you something worth carrying throughout the rest of this day.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: And join me, Dr.
- 24:40SPEAKER_01: Chris Spelser, again next time as we continue thinking, learning, and walking together until this grace and peace to you from seeking approval to healing the Baptist Church.
