- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey chicks.
- 0:00Speaker 2: Before we jump into the episode, we want to start
- 0:03Speaker 2: by sending all of our love to the victims of
- 0:05Speaker 2: the terrorist attack in Bondai on Sunday, the fourteenth of December.
- 0:10Speaker 2: We are so heartbroken by this absolute tragedy that words.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Just aren't enough.
- 0:17Speaker 2: We send all of our love to the victims, their
- 0:20Speaker 2: friends and family, the Jewish community, and anyone affected by
- 0:25Speaker 2: this tragedy.
- 0:26Speaker 3: We paused our content and podcasts for the last week
- 0:29Speaker 3: as we wanted to give space and show respect.
- 0:32Speaker 1: These episodes were.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Also pre recorded on Friday, the twelfth of December before
- 0:37Speaker 3: the attack, and therefore don't acknowledge the many lessons about
- 0:41Speaker 3: the importance of kindness, love and unity that we've been
- 0:45Speaker 3: reminded of now more than ever.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Our hearts are still feeling very heavy, and we know
- 0:50Speaker 2: a lot of you chicks love these end of year
- 0:53Speaker 2: episodes and use them as an opportunity to reflect, pick
- 0:57Speaker 2: up a life lesson, and some giggles. So we hope
- 1:00Speaker 2: this episode feels like a little bit of a reprieve
- 1:03Speaker 2: and a cuddle from us to you.
- 1:05Speaker 3: If you're looking for ways to show your support and
- 1:08Speaker 3: help victims of the Bondie attack, We've shared some resources

- 1:14Speaker 3: have also shared some free resources for help there too.
- 1:18Speaker 2: We're sending all of you chicks so much love.
- 1:22Speaker 1: All right, let's get into the episode.
- 1:24Speaker 2: This podcast is recorded on gadigal Land Always was, always
- 1:28Speaker 2: will be Aboriginal Land.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Hotigs.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I'm out and this is Two Broke Chicks, the show
- 1:39Speaker 2: that shares life lessons and tips to help make you
- 1:42Speaker 2: rich in life.
- 1:44Speaker 3: And final episode of the year, the Final Countdown.
- 1:53Speaker 1: This is my favorite episode that we do of the year.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Every year we've been doing our.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Ex life lessons from what ever year is since I
- 2:02Speaker 2: think twenty twenty one.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Yeah, so this would be our fifth year doing it
- 2:05Speaker 1: right right because it's one, two, three, four, five, Very
- 2:08Speaker 1: good county my fingers too, yeah, very cool. That's crazy.
- 2:13Speaker 3: I know we should go back and listen to the
- 2:15Speaker 3: twenty twenty one one.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I would be so hundred percent because obviously it was
- 2:20Speaker 1: during COVID so single.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, I think there was definitely some very like
- 2:25Speaker 2: pointed life lessons.
- 2:27Speaker 1: That was get girl, Oh my God podcast that no
- 2:31Speaker 1: one listened.
- 2:31Speaker 3: To, so funny, that's it's for the best. We got
- 2:34Speaker 3: it out Yeah, that's okay, humble beginning. It's gotta start somewhere.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, I like it.
- 2:38Speaker 2: So today are you talking our twenty five life lessons
- 2:41Speaker 2: from twenty twenty five, and so given that it's a
- 2:45Speaker 2: big chunky of an episode, we're just going to get
- 2:49Speaker 2: straight into it.
- 2:50Speaker 1: So how do you want to kick us? Olf?
- 2:52Speaker 3: Yes, so my first life lesson of twenty twenty five
- 2:57Speaker 3: comes with a little bit of a story time from
- 2:58Speaker 3: both of us, and it's to always make sure that
- 3:02Speaker 3: you have a buffer in your travel budget.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Oh yes, I'm trying to think of what story this
- 3:08Speaker 2: could be.
- 3:09Speaker 3: So we've told this story on our Instagram stories, but
- 3:13Speaker 3: I don't think we actually dove into it on the
- 3:15Speaker 3: podcast Poopgate yep, okay, Poopgate in Barcelona.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Poopgate.
- 3:20Speaker 3: So we went to Barcelona our first time in Barcelona,
- 3:24Speaker 3: and we booked a hostel and it was, you know,
- 3:27Speaker 3: a nice hostel. We had our own private room and bathroom.
- 3:30Speaker 3: We were you know, pretty happy with it, but I
- 3:32Speaker 3: think it was.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Still expensive, Like, yeah, everything in Europe is so expensive.
- 3:36Speaker 2: It was like an Airbnb hostel. Yeah, so, like all
- 3:40Speaker 2: the rooms.
- 3:41Speaker 3: I think were private there, and then there was like
- 3:43Speaker 3: a communal kitchen.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Yeah, situation.
- 3:46Speaker 3: I think we were staying there for maybe like five
- 3:48Speaker 3: or six nights.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Barcelona was our longest spot. Yeah.
- 3:51Speaker 3: And then by the second night the building ran out
- 3:55Speaker 3: of power and we didn't realize but not only does
- 3:59Speaker 3: that in packed obviously like lights, the charging point lights
- 4:03Speaker 3: couldn't charge our phone. And also this is in Barcelona
- 4:07Speaker 3: in the middle of summer, so it was about thirty
- 4:10Speaker 3: six thirty seven degrees it was very, very warm.
- 4:13Speaker 2: I literally wedged one of those like Amazon portable fians
- 4:17Speaker 2: that are like literally the size of a ruler, and
- 4:20Speaker 2: I lodged that in between my legs to try and
- 4:23Speaker 2: have a breeze on my face because even with the
- 4:25Speaker 2: like the windows open, it was no breeze.
- 4:28Speaker 1: There was no breeze and it was just hot.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I was on the verge of crying. Yeah. Yeah, it
- 4:34Speaker 1: was like I'm a baby, Yeah, do you hire I see? Yeah,
- 4:39Speaker 1: it was a struggle.
- 4:41Speaker 3: But yeah, So we didn't realize as well that having
- 4:44Speaker 3: no electricity would also impact the plumbing, so we couldn't
- 4:48Speaker 3: use the toilet, and we couldn't use the shower, and
- 4:51Speaker 3: we weren't supposed to like flush or use the toilet
- 4:54Speaker 3: or anything. Like the power went out on the second
- 4:56Speaker 3: day and we'd been using the bathroom. I didn't even
- 4:58Speaker 3: realize there were plumbing systems that could run on electricity.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Yeah, like that is just I'm.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Probably an idiot for that, but it's like, yeah, didn't
- 5:07Speaker 2: realize that. Yeah, and then the bathroom just kept getting
- 5:10Speaker 2: a bit stinkier. Yeah, it's a bit stinkier.
- 5:13Speaker 1: And then and then and then let's how.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Do I say this, The blue toilet water started coming
- 5:21Speaker 2: up through the shower.
- 5:22Speaker 1: It smelt like shit, and we sacrificed a number of
- 5:25Speaker 1: toilet trees and we just went, we can't do this.
- 5:29Speaker 1: The whole room smell like shit. Yeah, the whole room
- 5:31Speaker 1: smell like shit.
- 5:32Speaker 3: And like, keep in mind that would be bad on
- 5:34Speaker 3: any regular day. But also then throw in that it's
- 5:36Speaker 3: thirty seven degrees. Yes, So this is why it's so
- 5:40Speaker 3: important to have a travel buffer in case anything.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Does go wrong.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Yeah, because thank god, the Airbnb that we were staying
- 5:47Speaker 3: through was so understanding. They did give us a partial
- 5:49Speaker 3: refund on some of the trips, so we were able
- 5:52Speaker 3: to use some of that and then also, you know
- 5:55Speaker 3: a bit of our travel budget buffer to book very
- 5:58Speaker 3: last minute accommodation at a nice hotel, and we were like,
- 6:03Speaker 3: you know what, this is the last point of.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Our trip together. Let's splurge. Let's stay somewhere nice.
- 6:07Speaker 3: And also it was like one of the few places
- 6:09Speaker 3: that was available and very clumb yes, and thank god.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Oh my god, I'll never forget walking into that hotel
- 6:16Speaker 2: and just like the room was cold, yeah, and the
- 6:19Speaker 2: bathroom was clean, and there.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Was robes and we couldn't get like a cab or
- 6:24Speaker 3: an uber because it was really busy, so we walked
- 6:27Speaker 3: like twenty minutes, which we were like that's fine.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Yeah, we were like walking around with like forty kilow suitcases. Yeah,
- 6:34Speaker 1: but with all of our suitcases we got the fun.
- 6:39Speaker 3: We got there and we were like, well, I was
- 6:41Speaker 3: drenched in sweat, and the lady at the front desk
- 6:44Speaker 3: was like you guys.
- 6:46Speaker 1: She was like the water jugs over there, if.
- 6:48Speaker 2: You need it, and I was like putting my mouth
- 6:51Speaker 2: under it, like good, good, good good.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:53Speaker 2: And then like once we were there, we're like, now
- 6:55Speaker 2: I feel like I'm in Barcelona.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:57Speaker 2: It was like okay, because it was just yeah, and
- 7:00Speaker 2: we're probably princesses, Like I feel like a lot of
- 7:03Speaker 2: people have been in a lot harder conditions totally.
- 7:05Speaker 1: In their travels. But I was too hot and it
- 7:09Speaker 1: smelt like pooh. Yeah, and there's a little bit of it.
- 7:12Speaker 1: It was just too much. And yeah, getting that hotel
- 7:15Speaker 1: and then the bed was comfy. Yeah, the bed was
- 7:17Speaker 1: can't for the shower, douna. It had lots with hotels
- 7:22Speaker 1: and like Airbnbs and things not having a doner.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just a sit. It's just a sheet and
- 7:27Speaker 2: a blanket. I don't give me the fucking doner.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:30Speaker 2: I got another Airbnb had dounas in the cupboards and
- 7:33Speaker 2: we pulled it.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Out and had blood on it. That's a great one.
- 7:37Speaker 3: That's a funny story, though it is I like, gave
- 7:40Speaker 3: us some good content and made us appreciate the nice
- 7:42Speaker 3: place that we ended up.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Oh my god, it was the best. Okay.
- 7:46Speaker 2: My first life lesson is also like a rich girl
- 7:49Speaker 2: habit for twenty twenty six and it's to wait until
- 7:53Speaker 2: the pr halls pass. Okay. So we spoke about this
- 7:57Speaker 2: a little bit. I don't know if you remember, but
- 8:00Speaker 2: it was basically, do not buy anything when every single
- 8:06Speaker 2: influencer or creator is doing the unboxing of that product.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Because my example for this is remember the Hood Beauty lipstains,
- 8:15Speaker 2: and remember how many people were doing PR halls of
- 8:20Speaker 2: the lip stains and doing the swatches and trying them on.
- 8:23Speaker 2: This is not me saying that those lipstains are not
- 8:26Speaker 2: good or anything like that. I actually haven't tried them.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I really wanted it, but it's happening. We went to
- 8:31Speaker 2: like three different suphorts to try and find them, right
- 8:33Speaker 2: because I was like I need this, I want this,
- 8:35Speaker 2: I need it biblically, and because everyone was talking about
- 8:39Speaker 2: it online. But it's like that's because everyone's getting in PR.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Everyone's also buying it because they're seeing influencers or brands
- 8:45Speaker 2: pushing out marketing for it, and you couldn't buy it.
- 8:50Speaker 2: It was everywhere. And this was about six months ago.
- 8:54Speaker 2: It's not like it was two years ago. It's not
- 8:56Speaker 2: like a product that was a really high selling product.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Of two years ago. This was like six years ago.
- 9:01Speaker 1: This is this year. Have you seen anyone speaking about it? Yeah?
- 9:04Speaker 2: No, Where's like the content I want to see in
- 9:07Speaker 2: twenty twenty six is like the after the PR hole,
- 9:11Speaker 2: what's the product that people bought and like they're still
- 9:14Speaker 2: using three months later.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Yeah, like, that's what I want to use.
- 9:17Speaker 2: And so basically my life lesson is to not buy
- 9:21Speaker 2: anything when the pr holes are happening, and wait until
- 9:26Speaker 2: after see whether it becomes a consistent part of people's routine,
- 9:29Speaker 2: see whether or not the reviews come out after using
- 9:32Speaker 2: it for six months, twelve months, whatever that is.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Yeah, because there's always.
- 9:36Speaker 2: You know, hype around a new launch, and it's so
- 9:39Speaker 2: interesting because yeah, you think of so many products that
- 9:41Speaker 2: hit the market and it's like, oh.
- 9:43Speaker 1: My god, this is the best. Look at this, look
- 9:45Speaker 1: at that, and it's like where is she now?
- 9:49Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 9:50Speaker 1: Remember the hood of beauty lipstains? This is her now?
- 9:53Speaker 2: And we were in Seppo recently. Guess what was stock
- 9:56Speaker 2: to the rim? Yeah, good beauty lipstains. That's what I
- 10:00Speaker 2: And like, wait until after the pr hals.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Finish, until you buy something. Yeah. Will you love it
- 10:06Speaker 1: after the hype diet? Yeah? Will you love it when
- 10:09Speaker 1: it's no longer viral? Is it good? Or is it
- 10:11Speaker 1: just viral? Little me this, seriously, do you think of
- 10:16Speaker 1: anything when I think of that?
- 10:17Speaker 3: I mean immediately, when I'm thinking of twenty twenty five,
- 10:20Speaker 3: I think of lu Boo boos. And I also think
- 10:23Speaker 3: that this will happen in Australia when Road launches, but
- 10:27Speaker 3: obviously Road has continued the hype. But I do think
- 10:31Speaker 3: that sometimes Australian audiences they have different reactions to certain
- 10:35Speaker 3: things or different responses to certain things. So I'll be
- 10:37Speaker 3: interested to see because obviously the hype around that is
- 10:40Speaker 3: going to be insane, But if it will continue and
- 10:45Speaker 3: what some of those legacy products will be and if
- 10:48Speaker 3: it will be the same here, I'll be really interested
- 10:49Speaker 3: to see.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Yeah, crazy crazy for the next life.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Lesen is a quote that I saw on an interview
- 10:58Speaker 2: with like two models discussing their rider. Right, yeah, yeah,
- 11:03Speaker 2: it was us two models. It's exactly what people think
- 11:05Speaker 2: about when they think about two roticks. Yeah, and anyway,
- 11:10Speaker 2: they were listening all of the like wild things they
- 11:13Speaker 2: have on their rider, which was funny to watch. Yeah,
- 11:16Speaker 2: one of them had an iPhone, another one had like
- 11:18Speaker 2: fresh flowers. Like writers are like a foreign concept to us.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Like there were comments in it being like if this
- 11:25Speaker 2: was the music industry, this would be like the easiest
- 11:27Speaker 2: writer to fulfill. Like yeah, okay, you know, it's like
- 11:29Speaker 2: I'm not chit talking that. I'm like people can put
- 11:31Speaker 2: on their riders whatever they want. Yeah, Like it's not personal,
- 11:35Speaker 2: doesn't affect me.
- 11:35Speaker 1: It's a video. I'm not related. Yeah, I don't have
- 11:38Speaker 1: to organize it exactly. Do I think there are some
- 11:40Speaker 1: writers that are like a little bit wild. Yeah. Sure.
- 11:42Speaker 2: And in the video, this model says closed mouths don't
- 11:46Speaker 2: get fed.
- 11:47Speaker 1: If you don't ask, you won't receive exactly.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Yeah, And I'm like I loved that saying because it's
- 11:52Speaker 2: such a mentality that like I live by h of
- 11:56Speaker 2: Like you know, even like with things that we work on,
- 12:00Speaker 2: will be talking about.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Something, You'll be like, oh, yeah, but you know this
- 12:02Speaker 1: will happen. I'm like, oh, well, what else they can
- 12:05Speaker 1: do is say no? Yeah. But then in the same
- 12:07Speaker 1: position that we're in if we don't ask. Yeah, so true.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Yeah, that's something that I'm like not good at or
- 12:13Speaker 3: like something that I need to improve on. Is like
- 12:15Speaker 3: I preempt all the reasons that somebody could say no.
- 12:19Speaker 3: And it's like, yeah, you're always like we'll just ask,
- 12:22Speaker 3: you never know, and if they say no, then but
- 12:24Speaker 3: like I do.
- 12:24Speaker 1: The same thing.
- 12:25Speaker 3: I'm like.
- 12:27Speaker 1: They might say no for this reason.
- 12:28Speaker 2: I'm like, well I'll let them then, yeah, Like I'll
- 12:31Speaker 2: let them say no because I'm going to open my
- 12:34Speaker 2: mouth to try and get fed. Yeah, you know, and
- 12:37Speaker 2: I just or like, there's just so many things that
- 12:39Speaker 2: I think there's never anything wrong with asking, obviously within reason,
- 12:44Speaker 2: Like if you're asking for a new iPhone just because
- 12:46Speaker 2: you're doing photo shoot, then yeah maybe yeah, but like yeah,
- 12:50Speaker 2: I just really love that mentality. It's something that I
- 12:53Speaker 2: try to take into a lot of my decision making,
- 12:57Speaker 2: and it's a habit that like was a process for
- 12:59Speaker 2: me break as well.
- 13:00Speaker 1: It's like a preempting discomfort.
- 13:02Speaker 2: For someone else and you're assuming discomfort on their end,
- 13:07Speaker 2: or like apprehension when you have no crystal ball or
- 13:12Speaker 2: you know, psychic ability to actually know. And like, for example,
- 13:16Speaker 2: where in the process of trying to like build something
- 13:20Speaker 2: which I can't say what it is yet soon, but
- 13:25Speaker 2: like we reached out to a couple of brands to
- 13:27Speaker 2: like work with us on it and like supply equipment, right,
- 13:32Speaker 2: and it was like, you know, we're asking them to
- 13:36Speaker 2: supply this, and they might say no, but I'm like,
- 13:39Speaker 2: if they say no, then we're still in the situation
- 13:41Speaker 2: of we need to you know, invest the money anyway.
- 13:44Speaker 2: So I'm like it's better than zero odds. Yeah, so yeah,
- 13:49Speaker 2: that's my life lesson. And when I read that, I
- 13:51Speaker 2: was like, oh I like that one.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Yeah, me too, but that shit that I'm going to
- 13:56Speaker 3: mix it up for this life lesson.
- 13:59Speaker 1: You know, everybody's obsessed with pistachio.
- 14:02Speaker 3: And marcha, not everyone, A lot of people, not me,
- 14:06Speaker 3: and how we have food trends and whatnot.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Hate mustachio? Why is it everywhere? Why is it in coffee?
- 14:14Speaker 2: Why is it in croissants? Why is it in cakes?
- 14:17Speaker 2: Like and now there's like mustachio body wash.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Everybody's obsessed with that.
- 14:21Speaker 3: But the food trend that I've been obsessed with in
- 14:24Speaker 3: twenty twenty five and then I think deserves a little
- 14:27Speaker 3: bit more time. The sun is hot honey.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Oh, I feel like I've been seeing that ironic because
- 14:34Speaker 2: I'm allergic to honey.
- 14:35Speaker 1: I really, Oh you should tell me that. I told
- 14:39Speaker 1: you that before, but it's a niche allergy.
- 14:42Speaker 2: I had an anaphylactic rerection to an lcmbar when I
- 14:45Speaker 2: was like in year three and I had to go
- 14:46Speaker 2: to hospital and it was the tinny year that was
- 14:48Speaker 2: in the lcnbar LCM don't sue me, no, we love it.
- 14:52Speaker 2: It was like the first time it was the it
- 14:54Speaker 2: was like a corn Flakes one. They had like a
- 14:56Speaker 2: special edition corn Flakes elcmbar And I'm going of this
- 15:00Speaker 2: information from my parents, but they were like it was
- 15:02Speaker 2: some like Argentinian honey. Okay, Like it wasn't like the
- 15:06Speaker 2: stock standard honey.
- 15:07Speaker 1: What we would have. But do you just steer clear? Well,
- 15:10Speaker 1: sometimes I just have honey and I'll put it on
- 15:11Speaker 1: my skin and see what happens, and like it's fine,
- 15:14Speaker 1: Like I've had honey lemon tea. We're still not one
- 15:17Speaker 1: hundred percent.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Have you had one of those allergy testing No, but
- 15:20Speaker 3: my mom keeps asking me to go keep one.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Yeah, you're stressing me, I know.
- 15:24Speaker 2: But now I'm like, I'm allergic to avocado, I'm allergic
- 15:27Speaker 2: to gay we fruit, I'm allergic to cats.
- 15:28Speaker 1: We were out of that one though. Allegend dash fucking
- 15:32Speaker 1: walk analogy this millhouse. Yeah, I know.
- 15:35Speaker 3: But anyway, short and sweet, Literally, if you haven't tried
- 15:39Speaker 3: hot honey, it is incredible. If you're like an avocado
- 15:42Speaker 3: toast fan, there's a little bit of it on that
- 15:44Speaker 3: on pizza.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Amazing.
- 15:46Speaker 3: I just feel like it really elevates some of the
- 15:48Speaker 3: meals and that's some a trending food item that I'm like.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Finally, something I actually liked. Finally.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Okay, this life lesson I think is potentially controversial.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Oh but I'm going to be controversial, yeah, rave okay,
- 16:01Speaker 1: and it's I'm more opening it up for discussion. Do
- 16:03Speaker 1: we really need more than two pillows on the bed? Yeah,
- 16:07Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know. And now hear me out.
- 16:11Speaker 1: This is because it's a unique situation to everyone, right, Yeah,
- 16:14Speaker 1: I don't use more than one pillow. When I see like,
- 16:17Speaker 1: I'm like, I just use the one pillow that I'm
- 16:20Speaker 1: sleeping on.
- 16:21Speaker 2: I kind of stopped like cuddling the other pillow and like,
- 16:24Speaker 2: you know, yeah, I know you cuddle a pillow, like
- 16:27Speaker 2: I know you cuddle it so like you need. But
- 16:29Speaker 2: if you don't do that, I feel like pillows are
- 16:33Speaker 2: starting to slowly take over the world, Like it's going
- 16:35Speaker 2: to expand and expand and expand it to the point.
- 16:37Speaker 1: That like you're in your room being like, yeah, I'm
- 16:40Speaker 1: like cover it up. I'm covered in pillows. Like I'm
- 16:42Speaker 1: more pillow than man.
- 16:43Speaker 3: Don't worry about like AI and robots, Yeah, I worry
- 16:46Speaker 3: about pillow.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I don't know if we need more.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Let's say four, then I don't think we need more
- 16:52Speaker 2: than four pillows on the bed. Yeah, because at this point,
- 16:55Speaker 2: I mean this thing of being like, why is there
- 16:57Speaker 2: so much fucking shit in my house right? Like living
- 17:00Speaker 2: in a little rental apartment that I'm like, like, there's
- 17:05Speaker 2: just so much stuff everywhere that I have to put
- 17:06Speaker 2: pillows on the floor and then I basically just have
- 17:09Speaker 2: to put them back on the bed. That I'm like,
- 17:11Speaker 2: I'm creating work for myself here by having a billion pillows. Yeah, wow,
- 17:17Speaker 2: like the accent pillow of like the one that just
- 17:19Speaker 2: goes in the center or what point?
- 17:22Speaker 1: For what point? You're a lot pretty at the back?
- 17:25Speaker 1: You know, Like I feel like Louis back just got
- 17:28Speaker 1: a shoot, I know, and Louis, I love you.
- 17:30Speaker 2: And I'm sorry, I'm just asking the question. I'm not
- 17:33Speaker 2: saying I've decided this. But this week I've just had
- 17:36Speaker 2: two pillows on the bed. I've just put the douneru
- 17:39Speaker 2: and put the pillows on.
- 17:40Speaker 1: And I'm not gonna lie.
- 17:41Speaker 2: It looks fine and it's great and I don't have
- 17:44Speaker 2: to fuck around with like seven billion pillows.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Also, no one's looking except for you and like whoever
- 17:50Speaker 1: lives with you? Yeah, I don't know. Is that like
- 17:53Speaker 1: have I been living with a man for too long?
- 17:55Speaker 1: I was gonna say, I feel like that's a blue opinion.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Yeah, so concerned because that's what it's always like.
- 18:01Speaker 3: We have these huge pillows that like we put on,
- 18:04Speaker 3: so we have like five pillows.
- 18:06Speaker 1: On the bed. Yeah, it's too much. He's like, so
- 18:08Speaker 1: you just make the bed to put them on and
- 18:10Speaker 1: then take them off. And I'm like, sure, sh I know,
- 18:14Speaker 1: I know.
- 18:14Speaker 2: I feel like I'm having an allergic reaction right now.
- 18:17Speaker 2: People saying this because I feel like I'm going against
- 18:19Speaker 2: girl code here, but I'm like, do I want this?
- 18:27Speaker 1: Like who am I? I just don't a question. I
- 18:30Speaker 1: don't know.
- 18:31Speaker 2: I don't have the answer, but I'm like, do we
- 18:35Speaker 2: need Like if this is purely for esthetics, can I
- 18:39Speaker 2: be asked?
- 18:40Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 18:40Speaker 2: Is more the question I'm asking because there's too many
- 18:43Speaker 2: fucking pillows on my bed.
- 18:44Speaker 1: And fissed me off.
- 18:45Speaker 2: And also I lay on my bed like I don't
- 18:48Speaker 2: you know, sleep, get out of bed and then get
- 18:51Speaker 2: back into it at night time. So that's the other thing,
- 18:53Speaker 2: is like I want to just be able to lie
- 18:55Speaker 2: on my bed whenever I want to lie on my bed,
- 18:56Speaker 2: But when there's a fuck ton of pillows on it, it's.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Not even comp the ball. Yeah, that's the other point.
- 19:02Speaker 3: That's actually another life lesson that I've learned this year,
- 19:05Speaker 3: just from Internet discourse, is that some people only use
- 19:09Speaker 3: their bed for sleeping, Like they don't lay and lounge
- 19:12Speaker 3: on their bed during the day. Like they don't, you know,
- 19:15Speaker 3: like work on their beds like that. We don't know
- 19:18Speaker 3: people Like that's really bad, But like I love my
- 19:20Speaker 3: bed that afternoon, like getting home from the office and
- 19:23Speaker 3: then just laying down and like on top.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Of the covers reading a book. Yeah, or watching three
- 19:29Speaker 1: pm afternoon to light. Yeah that's what I mean.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what I mean at the lake. But yeah,
- 19:38Speaker 3: that really rocked my world. Yeah, it's like you're really
- 19:40Speaker 3: limiting side. I don't even know if I believe you
- 19:42Speaker 3: the great opportunities.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I like you lie.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Like another life lesson that I've picked up this year
- 19:50Speaker 3: is to know your anxiety meals.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Oh yeah.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Yeah, so this isn't a universal experience, but I know
- 19:57Speaker 3: a lot of people experience.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Yeah that if you experience.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Anxiety a lot of the time people either feel nauseous
- 20:05Speaker 3: or you.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Completely lose your appetite.
- 20:08Speaker 3: And a lot of the time I completely lose my appetite,
- 20:11Speaker 3: which then only exacerbates the problem because obviously eating food
- 20:14Speaker 3: is going to help with your anxiety in the long run.
- 20:18Speaker 1: But I feel like I'm force feeding myself.
- 20:19Speaker 3: I found it like really difficult if I was like
- 20:21Speaker 3: nervous or stressed, or even if I was like, I
- 20:23Speaker 3: don't even know why I'm anxious. I just you know,
- 20:26Speaker 3: it's lunchtime, and I know I should be hungry, but
- 20:28Speaker 3: I don't feel hungry, but I know I need to eat.
- 20:31Speaker 3: And someone said to me, like, oh, you need to
- 20:34Speaker 3: know what your anxiety meal is. And essentially, it's the
- 20:38Speaker 3: meal that you could eat like rain, hail or shine,
- 20:42Speaker 3: no matter what time of day. It is a meal
- 20:44Speaker 3: that you could eat every single day without getting sick
- 20:46Speaker 3: of it, and knowing exactly what that meal is, so
- 20:49Speaker 3: that if you are feeling anxious, then you know, okay, well,
- 20:53Speaker 3: I can order this one thing and I will.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Be able to eat it.
- 20:55Speaker 2: It's a cheeseburger with no meat and extra extra onion,
- 21:01Speaker 2: extra pickle and chips. Yep, and I could eat it
- 21:06Speaker 2: everything hail or Shyep, that's a really good tip.
- 21:09Speaker 1: I think that would make sense to a lot of people.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Yeah, anxiety is a universal experience and it's just a
- 21:15Speaker 2: spectrum of like how severe people's anxiety is. Right, but
- 21:19Speaker 2: I think that would be a very relatable occurrence for
- 21:22Speaker 2: a lot of people. It's whether they're sad, it's whether
- 21:24Speaker 2: they're angry, it's when they're anxious. Like, there's so many
- 21:27Speaker 2: things that like, you know, can affect that. So I
- 21:29Speaker 2: think that's a really good tip.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I wonder what mine is.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Yeah, it probably is pasta. This life lesson can kind
- 21:38Speaker 2: of be put to a few things. But I have
- 21:41Speaker 2: a specific example as to what like inspired this life
- 21:45Speaker 2: lesson and the life lesson is the race doesn't exist.
- 21:50Speaker 2: The reason why I pulled this life lesson is this
- 21:54Speaker 2: year I started the Basic Bitch book Club right and
- 21:57Speaker 2: purely was like fun hobby, side hustle, creativity vibes, not
- 22:02Speaker 2: even side hustle, Like it was just like this is
- 22:03Speaker 2: fun and I want to do it to your.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Passion a creative outlet.
- 22:06Speaker 2: That isn't you know my main job which is to
- 22:10Speaker 2: bis to brew chicks, not to be confirmed, Like.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Wait, what this isn't I'm quitting. This is my we'll
- 22:19Speaker 1: find out it's you know, taking off.
- 22:23Speaker 2: It's grown over one hundred thousand followers this year, which
- 22:26Speaker 2: I was like, were Hornie Sheelers unite?
- 22:29Speaker 1: Love that?
- 22:30Speaker 2: But in doing that, it kind of then made me
- 22:34Speaker 2: look at it a little bit less.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Like how when I started it.
- 22:38Speaker 2: And it was like, Okay, now I have to make content,
- 22:41Speaker 2: like I've got to do this, I've got to do that.
- 22:43Speaker 1: And then I started getting in.
- 22:46Speaker 2: The make believe race of like everyone else is moving quickly,
- 22:50Speaker 2: I have to move quickly too, And that then started
- 22:53Speaker 2: translating to the books I was reading, and how because
- 22:59Speaker 2: I started this thing, I then felt pressure to read
- 23:04Speaker 2: my books really really quickly, especially if it was a
- 23:06Speaker 2: new book that came out. And I think this has
- 23:08Speaker 2: also translated to a lot of people because whether it's
- 23:11Speaker 2: a movie that just came out, whether it's a book
- 23:14Speaker 2: that just came out, whether it's a TV series, whether
- 23:16Speaker 2: it's a product, and it's about getting it first and
- 23:20Speaker 2: finishing it first.
- 23:22Speaker 1: And especially like in on.
- 23:24Speaker 2: BookTalk or even with TV shows, it's like, Okay, I'm
- 23:28Speaker 2: going to finish it first so that I can talk
- 23:30Speaker 2: about it and I can make content and I'm the
- 23:32Speaker 2: first person to do that, and I'm going to be
- 23:34Speaker 2: like the first in the thing.
- 23:35Speaker 1: And then it created this scenario where I.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Didn't get to sit and enjoy the book that I
- 23:41Speaker 2: was reading because I felt like I had to finish
- 23:42Speaker 2: it in a week. Yeah, because I needed to make
- 23:45Speaker 2: content on it and I needed to finish it within
- 23:47Speaker 2: a week. And I know that's a niche example to
- 23:50Speaker 2: like the job that we do, right, but I think
- 23:53Speaker 2: it applies to so many other things that because social
- 23:59Speaker 2: media and work and life is so fast paced, we
- 24:02Speaker 2: put ourselves in like a rat race of this invisible pace,
- 24:08Speaker 2: this invisible pressure to be quicker and faster, and everything
- 24:11Speaker 2: needs to happen immediately, and it's like, when are.
- 24:15Speaker 1: We stopping to enjoy the journey.
- 24:17Speaker 2: My other example is how beautiful of an experience and
- 24:21Speaker 2: the universal experience of the summer I turned pretty this
- 24:24Speaker 2: year of having one episode release each week, and Wednesday
- 24:28Speaker 2: nights became Conrad nights, Like it was just such a
- 24:33Speaker 2: fun experience to not have that race on it, And
- 24:36Speaker 2: there was still a little bit in terms of like
- 24:38Speaker 2: if you didn't watch it on Wednesday night rip Thursday,
- 24:42Speaker 2: you're getting a spoiler Yeah, which fucking sucks, but it
- 24:45Speaker 2: still was a little bit like that pace slowed.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Down a little bit. Yeah, And I just made me
- 24:50Speaker 1: think about it, being like who made the rule? Why
- 24:52Speaker 1: does this happen? And I'm like, you know what, the
- 24:54Speaker 1: race just doesn't exist. So there's this book that's like
- 24:56Speaker 1: come out that's probably one of the biggest releases of
- 24:58Speaker 1: the year that tech.
- 25:00Speaker 2: If I wanted to, you know, use it for work
- 25:03Speaker 2: and the basic Bitch book Club content, I would be
- 25:06Speaker 2: having to read that really really quickly. I'd be having
- 25:09Speaker 2: to take notes and pull theories and blah blah blah,
- 25:11Speaker 2: and I actually wouldn't get to enjoy it, which the
- 25:13Speaker 2: main reason I started this in the first place was
- 25:16Speaker 2: because I enjoy the hobby. So I was like, Okay,
- 25:19Speaker 2: do you know what, I'm not going to do it.
- 25:21Speaker 2: I'm not going to read it now. I'm going to
- 25:22Speaker 2: wait till I'm on holiday break and i'm having a
- 25:25Speaker 2: rose while I'm camping, and I'm just going to take
- 25:28Speaker 2: myself out of the race because it doesn't exist.
- 25:31Speaker 1: I love that.
- 25:32Speaker 3: Yeah, And I think because you did say, you know,
- 25:36Speaker 3: that specific example might not be relevant to every single person,
- 25:40Speaker 3: but what I do think is relevant to every person.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Even on the flip side of that is that we
- 25:45Speaker 3: expect people to respond to everything straight away, eve an email.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Sorry I'm interrupting you, but it's like if you don't
- 25:53Speaker 1: respond to someone within the same business day.
- 25:55Speaker 2: I've noticed that the immediate response on the emails like
- 25:58Speaker 2: apologies for the delay.
- 26:00Speaker 1: I'm like, what, it's one day. When did we get
- 26:02Speaker 1: to this point, Like the delay should have like it
- 26:04Speaker 1: used to be like, apologies for the.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Delay in my response, but it's like a week yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 26:09Speaker 3: But you know, whether it's a book review or somebody
- 26:13Speaker 3: commenting on something that's happening in society in the news
- 26:17Speaker 3: headlines or has a thought on anything. By expecting like
- 26:21Speaker 3: an immediate response or an immediate piece of content, we
- 26:25Speaker 3: lose that nuance that you can get from maybe sitting
- 26:28Speaker 3: back and actually sitting with your opinion. So whether it
- 26:31Speaker 3: is you know, like reading a book and then being like, actually,
- 26:33Speaker 3: let me ponder on that theory for a little while,
- 26:35Speaker 3: instead of being like, okay, like this is my immediate
- 26:37Speaker 3: first reaction, even.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Like success or goals like buying a house or like
- 26:42Speaker 2: having a baby, getting a boyfriend, drinking water.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Whatever, it is.
- 26:45Speaker 2: It's like that this race doesn't exist. Yeah, like this
- 26:49Speaker 2: pressure to have all of these goals and metrics of
- 26:52Speaker 2: a successful life, Like what is that?
- 26:55Speaker 1: It doesn't matter, It's all fake.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Okay, we're going to wrap part one of our twenty
- 27:02Speaker 2: five lessons here, but we're going to be doing part two.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Thanks to you chicks for having a senior E house.
- 27:07Speaker 1: We love to be here. Part two Sleeper Part two
