Transcript
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: of everyone, welcome in to Duval of Daily.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jack McFall.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: Hope everyone's having a good one.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: As you're Jacksonville Jaguar is winning comfortable fashion against the Titans.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: Good teams win the games they should, and that's exactly what the Jaguar's did.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: 25 to 3, and the Titans only points came on the first drive, so the Jaguar pretty much on cruise control, the entire game, especially after the the Fumble on the kickoff, it kind of just felt like the game was...
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: over at that point considering the withtimes have looked all year, the way their offensive has been, and either way I mean it was a very important one, much needed one, and don't look now, but your Jacksonal Jaguar is our first place in the FC South, so the division is completely off of grabs now with the, with the cold solution to the Texans, and it's now set up a matchup for next week.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: at home in the throwbacks against the courts for the leading the south.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: So exciting.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: I can't wait.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's the biggest game between those two teams in years.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: I can't even think of the last time a game between these two teams meant this much.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: And it's going to be a fun week leading up to it.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: So thank you all for being here.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: I hope everyone had a good time with family.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's giving.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_00]: And let's get into what went into this win against the heated Tennessee
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: Starting off, both sides of the ball, and really especially teams too, the penalty issue was back in a big way, it's been a lot better over the past month of the season say, but the amount of penalties and this game for both teams was pretty ridiculous.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's 23-excepted total penalties between both teams.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: It even got to a point where the broadcast was making jokes.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: I compare into the rough, I'm pairing the rough, excuse me, to cops having to meet quotas and giving out like petty speeding tickets.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's too much, and really the jackboards were lucky that they played a team like the Titans, because they're not going to be a team like the Colts with 13 except the penalties.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: So they have to climb it up, but to hope they do it, I think around the NFL and some situations some referee teams are a little more willing to throw flags, you know, I'm sure, I mean, obviously I didn't see all the calls exactly what they were in the play, but some of them are probably kind of tiki tacky it is what it is.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: but especially with the Titans, I was having so many penalties called, they were probably you know, being kind of soft as some of the colors, but it doesn't matter, you know, I think 13 is a lot, obviously, it was like, I think it was 98 yards in total penalties too, and it's all three phases, so that's got to get cleaned up, like I said.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: Not looking directly at the offense.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was kind of an interesting game because for the last quarter and five minutes, say about like 20 minutes of the game, and even a little before that, too, the Jax completely stalled an offense.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: And I understand at that point,
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: You know, with the way the score was, you're not going to be calling, you know, your your best trick play is or taking, you know, deep shots But nothing was working regardless they they could not run the ball the whole game Which was definitely very surprising
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: To me and I'm sure to everyone as the matchup on paper was pretty incredible for the backs I mean the jacks of average drawn 130 yards on the ground per game And the tanks have given up on 130 yards per game um and The jacks only rushed for 70 yards on 27 carries which Obviously, I mean that's That's that's pretty bad and and there were some injuries on the line Which I'll get into more a little later, but
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so pretty shocked that the run game was so nonexistent all day, especially against the team like the Titans, and even the past Pro had his struggles on a couple plays in the early stages.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: They also had to great plays like the Britain's Drainage Touchdown.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor literally was a standing flatfoot and it made the throw.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it was perfect protection, but they stayed up for his acts still.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they had their struggles.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: But overall, I mean, I guess, apart from the ring game that they played a good game, now that will take us to what was working, or I guess I should say, who was working, who won the game for the Jaguars and often specifically.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: And to me, that was Cheryl Lawrence.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: He played his best half of football in a long time on Sunday.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: First half, he,
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: was near a pervert, pass the rating at half, he threw those two doors for touchdowns to Myers and Strange, he had the seed that he threw to Jacobi, the one for over 50.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: That play was awesome because you saw Parker Washington and Brian Thomas sprinting down the foot and blocking to Brian Thomas later guy out.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: That play was awesome.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: And how about Jacobi with how he's played with the ad?
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: He was, I mean, that,
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: He's such a great player.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: He's, I think, he's everything that we expected and then some, great ad, but yeah, back to Trevor.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: He just played so overall and yes, like I said, it kind of saw at the end of the game, not fully on him when there was some drops.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: The ring game wasn't going, so whatever, no harm no foul, but
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, it was very important for him to play well in this game when he did, to keep his confidence high, going into the biggest game of the year next week.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think he took a couple shots that maybe you don't want to see him take, especially at the point of the game he took them.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's that one play on the goal-on and third quarter where he got crushed down at the goal-on and followed out of bounds.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: That was a little scary.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: But that's how he played an awesome game and he needs to keep that up as the jacks continue to make their push in the coming weeks now Looking at the defense, I think they really just played a good game overall.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: The past rush was still pretty effective Even with the injuries to walker and an armstead Josh Hinesown continues to play at an elite level especially these past five games.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: I mean he said in a press or earlier in the year I think it was before the Raiders game
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: that sags usually come in bunches and we're seeing that with them right now where he's been generating pressure and stopping the run all season.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's just the second numbers weren't there, but those those numbers are finally coming and yeah I mean he's just he's been so great really he's been so great.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: The secondary looks great as a whole, as well, you know, obviously getting Jordan Lewis back was awesome.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: He's such a big piece for the defense, but also just a leadership for the whole team.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: The reality is though that the Titans team
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, the way they are, is just not talented or experienced enough to, you know, be that big of a threat on offense.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: Ken Ward has the potential, obviously, but with the receiving core that he has right now in the system, it's just not.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like I said, not very threatening for your defense and we saw that, but.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: They still play well.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you can't take that away from them now.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: Don't make concern on this side of the ball on the defense coming out of this game is
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think Jordan might have touched on it too.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: The Titans were running the ball very, very well at the start of the game.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: Well enough that the Jaguars are probably lucky that the game that they scored and the game went the way I did because if Tennessee was able to continue running and establish the run game, I don't have to abandon it because of the score.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: It probably would have been a completely different game to based on the way they were running the ball at the Star Eye, Tony Pollard, average six a carry.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: and there wasn't much behind him, but at that opening drive, when he was moving, like he really was.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: And the defense has been elite against the run all year.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: They really have.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I think,
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: A big reason it looked so off on Sunday was because of the injuries to Walker and especially Armstead, who is such a presence in the middle of that defensive line, I think he really is great against the run, and obviously Trayvon is too, but especially Armstead closes those gaps, and it was no harm to Falcons the Titans because the game ended the way it did.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: But next week, you play the best running back in the NFL and Jonathan Taylor, who's averaging almost six yards of carry on over 200 attempts, 200 attempts, excuse me, this year, and pretty much is the entire cold's offense when he's going there going, you know, so that's no doubt going to be a sore line this week, as Andrew reports come out, you know, in the coming days leading up to the Friday report, but
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, just looking at the Titans game, the defense put a great, I mean, they only hit the Repoints and apart from that drive, the Titans pretty much had nothing go their way at all, really.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, now just really quick, I love Loves Taco West special teams every week and this week, it's got to be about Logan Cook.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: He was really on one this game.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think we've ever seen him act that way, I didn't think we would ever see him act the way he did, but it was honestly pretty hilarious to see him act that way and it shows how much the rubber remains to him, being in Jacksonville as long as he has been.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think it came up, I think it's the longest time you're a giant.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: Might be wrong about that, but I think he is.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, he threw his body to make that tackle and injure himself.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: He had to get checked for a concussion, um, you know, he was rough to a couple of times.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: It was freaking out.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: He was like hyping up the crowd.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: He got right in the middle of the fight with, uh, chest none and said some choice words.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: Now, whether what was reported, he said is sure or not.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: who knows, but that doesn't change your awesome.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_00]: That was the sea special from your punner.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that really is awesome.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: Sam with a Quinn Allen.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure everyone saw what Jeffrey Simmons told reporters that coincide to him.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we'll get into that.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, and that's on Harrison, getting an Ornkey's face after he threw himself a Trevor.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: Ordin' Kee, man.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: You know, there's been enough said about him.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_00]: I won't get him to that either, but the referee's awesome.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I love that the entire team's invested in this game against the Titans, especially knowing what it means to the fans when they beat them.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's just awesome.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's awesome to see it's awesome to watch.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: The guys having each other's backs is just, it's great.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: Now,
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: Looking ahead, obviously, you have the big game next Sunday for the South LEAD, and if you beat them, you really have more than a game lead because you have the tiebreaker on them.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: So huge, huge, huge, huge game injuries, or just like I said earlier, going to be the thing to follow ahead of the game.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: So many impactful guys are beat up, and obviously you need all hands on deck against the cults.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see you have the two big named injuries on the defensive line that were clearly missing as tight as you have your starting left tackle, going to concussion protocol and your right guard last week, being in concussion protocol, we'll see this week as well as your, why are you for three, with Parker Washington who is also your partner and a phenomenal partner, who has the hit problem.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: Colvin Lennon's been sent an unsung here for the team.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: I've said that earlier in this year already, but I mean he's played every position in other events center already and done it so well.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the team would probably be pretty comfortable if he had to start online for either Walker or McCarray, but the other injured guys, you know, the the judge needs them on Sunday that they they just do.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_00]: So I guess we'll see, but
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that'll be it for me, I think.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: Enjoy the victory week.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's definitely a sweet one beating the Titans.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm pumped for next Sunday.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully the bank has packed out for the game.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: My wish I could be there, but unfortunately, I'm stuck up here in a cold and raining jersey, but it is what it is.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited to regard this.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you everyone so much for watching.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, good jigs.
