- 0:00Speaker 1: Thanks, Mike. Lame busy day yesterday. A couple of moves.
- 0:03Speaker 1: One Bobby McMahon traded to Seattle. You're very familiar with him,
- 0:07Speaker 1: having coached him in Toronto. Also, your captain reups for
- 0:10Speaker 1: two more years. Maybe not the crazy day that a
- 0:13Speaker 1: lot of fans maybe were expecting for the cracking, but
- 0:16Speaker 1: just talk about yesterday and now you can finally just
- 0:19Speaker 1: breathe and let all that go and now focus on
- 0:22Speaker 1: the last sprint to the end of the season.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you know, it was nice to sign ups.
- 0:27Speaker 2: You know, I think he's done a really good job
- 0:29Speaker 2: after you know, his his injury, coming back having a
- 0:33Speaker 2: great year for us. He understands what it takes at
- 0:36Speaker 2: his age to play the game, the commitment that it takes,
- 0:39Speaker 2: and so that is of no concern to me from
- 0:42Speaker 2: that standpoint. And he's having a half of a year
- 0:45Speaker 2: for us. He deserves it, you know. And as far
- 0:48Speaker 2: as Bobby McMahon is concerned, he'll had an element of
- 0:50Speaker 2: speed to our hockey team. You know, he's fast, He's
- 0:54Speaker 2: deceptively fast, and he's got some pretty good size and
- 0:58Speaker 2: you know, he plays the game the right way. I
- 1:00Speaker 2: had him for a year. You know he was good
- 1:03Speaker 2: for us in Toronto last year twenty goals. He has
- 1:07Speaker 2: nineteen goals this year, so we're expecting him to come
- 1:10Speaker 2: in and add some speed and.
- 1:11Speaker 1: And some scoring touch. The trade deadline for a lot
- 1:13Speaker 1: of coaches can be a double edged sword. You want
- 1:15Speaker 1: to bring someone in to make your team better, but
- 1:17Speaker 1: you don't want to mess up that chemistry and the
- 1:19Speaker 1: culture in the room. Having coached McMahon before, what type
- 1:23Speaker 1: of player is he off the ice and what value
- 1:25Speaker 1: will he bring to that locker room.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Bobby McMahon's a low maintenance guy. You know, he's an
- 1:32Speaker 2: Alberta kid who came up through the East Coast League
- 1:36Speaker 2: and he's earned everything he's gotten. So he's not only
- 1:41Speaker 2: probably appreciative and grateful for where he's at, but you know,
- 1:45Speaker 2: and speaking to him yesterday, he's excited to come to Seattle,
- 1:48Speaker 2: and we're looking for people that are excited to come
- 1:50Speaker 2: to Seattle.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Last time out for Seattle Cracking falling three to two.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Just take us back to that game a couple of
- 1:57Speaker 1: nights ago and where you felt the Cracking needed a
- 2:00Speaker 1: little bit more in that game.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought our power play could have helped us
- 2:03Speaker 2: out you know, certainly at the end of six on four,
- 2:07Speaker 2: you know, that was a big moment that we needed.
- 2:10Speaker 2: But certainly, you know, I thought the game could have
- 2:13Speaker 2: went either way. Really, to be honest, you know, I
- 2:16Speaker 2: thought it probably could have went our way as opposed
- 2:17Speaker 2: to their way. But it didn't, which is you know,
- 2:20Speaker 2: the irony of the game of hockey Monday night against Carolina.
- 2:25Speaker 2: You know, it probably could have been a different story
- 2:28Speaker 2: the other way, but that's just the way it goes.
- 2:31Speaker 2: You know, We've got to take advantage of our opportunities here.
- 2:34Speaker 2: We've got twenty one games left. Just take it one
- 2:37Speaker 2: game at a time and see where we're at. Just
- 2:39Speaker 2: play our game.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Looking at the night's game, there was a little bit
- 2:42Speaker 1: of illness going through the locker room. There were a
- 2:43Speaker 1: few guys who weren't at practice this morning, with Adam
- 2:47Speaker 1: Larson and Freddie gudrou out as well. Just any update
- 2:50Speaker 1: on their status and how do you manage the guys going,
- 2:55Speaker 1: you know, in and out of the room every single
- 2:56Speaker 1: day with sickness going through that.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Yeah, well we try and keep them away. That's one
- 3:00Speaker 2: of the reasons why they weren't here. Ryan Linggren wasn't
- 3:02Speaker 2: here this morning as well either, So I don't have
- 3:06Speaker 2: any updates other than their game time decisions, and we'll
- 3:08Speaker 2: see how they feel when they get here tonight.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Looking at Ottawa very much like Seattle. They're in the
- 3:13Speaker 1: thick of a playoff race out east, and you know
- 3:16Speaker 1: they're coming off a four to one win the other
- 3:18Speaker 1: night in Calgary. What type of issues do they present
- 3:21Speaker 1: here today for Seattle and what do you want to
- 3:23Speaker 1: see the crack and do to combat that.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Yeah, they're a good hockey team. I know a lot
- 3:27Speaker 2: about them. We played them last year in Toronto in
- 3:29Speaker 2: the playoffs. They've got a combination of a lot of things.
- 3:32Speaker 2: To be honest with you, I really like their team.
- 3:36Speaker 2: They have grit, they have Greece, they have skill, and
- 3:41Speaker 2: their defense can skate. Shabbat Sanderson, Brady kachuk at net
- 3:45Speaker 2: front Ridley, Greg Bathurston Stutslow. The team is they are
- 3:53Speaker 2: their ninth in the league and shooting percenters, so they
- 3:56Speaker 2: score more goals than most teams do, unexpected goals, so
- 4:01Speaker 2: they can snipe and they have speed coming through the
- 4:04Speaker 2: middle of the ice. We've got to make sure that
- 4:05Speaker 2: we manage that, take care of that, keep them to
- 4:09Speaker 2: the outside as much as possible. We did a really
- 4:11Speaker 2: good job of that in Ottawa way back. We have
- 4:14Speaker 2: to do that again tonight, and you know, we have
- 4:17Speaker 2: to attack. You know, they've got all this offensive stuff
- 4:20Speaker 2: and they've been pretty good defensively as well. But for us,
- 4:23Speaker 2: we need to attack. We need to get more at
- 4:25Speaker 2: presence and more show volume tonight that we did the
- 4:27Speaker 2: other night.
