- 14:00:38Welcome to Inside West Palm
- 14:00:40Beach. I'm Gerry Marcelo.
- 14:00:42Over a hundred years ago, Palm Beach and
- 14:00:44West Palm Beach together became the very
- 14:00:46first resort
- 14:00:47destination in the United States,
- 14:00:50giving birth to a tourist industry that
- 14:00:52has been an undeniable part of West
- 14:00:54Palm's culture for decades.
- 14:00:56But tourism doesn't
- 14:00:58stay strong without help.
- 14:01:00Today, we'll look at the organization
- 14:01:01that makes sure Palm Beach County is top
- 14:01:04of mind for vacation seekers
- 14:01:05and explore modern challenges that face
- 14:01:07our city as tourism changes and grows.
- 14:01:11That's next on Inside West Palm Beach.
- 14:01:24And joining us today is Milton Segara,
- 14:01:27president and CEO of
- 14:01:28Discover the Palm Beach.
- 14:01:29Milton, welcome to the show.
- 14:01:30Thank you so much. It's a
- 14:01:31pleasure to be here. Thank you.
- 14:01:32As we jump in, we're going to be talking
- 14:01:34a lot about tourism. But
- 14:01:35first, I want to talk about you.
- 14:01:37How did you get involved in marketing and
- 14:01:39tourism and what brought
- 14:01:40you to the Palm Beaches?
- 14:01:42Well, being here is one of the highest
- 14:01:45honor of my career to start with.
- 14:01:47You know, I've been blessed with a 30
- 14:01:49year plus career in hospitality and
- 14:01:51travel, as well as in the hotel, health
- 14:01:54care and technology industries.
- 14:01:57But, you know, tourism is part of our
- 14:01:59family. I'm from Puerto Rico and my
- 14:02:02family, my father, my grandfather, they
- 14:02:05own a small hotel in the
- 14:02:06southwest coast of Puerto Rico.
- 14:02:07And we all grew there. And we will learn
- 14:02:11to see the hospitality and the hotel
- 14:02:13business as part of your life.
- 14:02:15So I grew in this and it was so natural
- 14:02:17to me. So I continue developing myself.
- 14:02:21I worked with some hotel companies like
- 14:02:23High at Hilton, The Sands Hotels and
- 14:02:25Casinos. And it grew inside of me until I
- 14:02:29learned that there was another part,
- 14:02:32which is the destination marketing, which
- 14:02:34is representing communities.
- 14:02:35And I've been blessed to represent
- 14:02:37several communities, Puerto Rico and some
- 14:02:39others. But being here, it's, as I told
- 14:02:42you, the beginning my highest honor.
- 14:02:44And I'm so happy and proud to
- 14:02:45be part of this community now.
- 14:02:47It's really almost it becomes a part of
- 14:02:49your DNA. It's a part of your
- 14:02:50personality, that you're welcoming people
- 14:02:53and attracting people to a community like
- 14:02:56the one here in West Palm Beach.
- 14:02:59Yeah. Well, as I said, you know, we have
- 14:03:01this amazing blend of 39 communities,
- 14:03:03obviously, West Palm
- 14:03:04Beach being the focal point.
- 14:03:07I mean, the thing is this. It's like when
- 14:03:09you go to, let's say, if you want to go
- 14:03:10to Spain, most likely
- 14:03:12you're going to go to Madrid.
- 14:03:13If you want to go to Argentina, most
- 14:03:15likely you're going to go to Buenos
- 14:03:16Aires. Well, if you come to Palm Beach
- 14:03:18County, most likely you're
- 14:03:19going to come to West Palm Beach.
- 14:03:20That's it. It's part of the experience.
- 14:03:24And the fact that you can represent not
- 14:03:26only West Palm Beach, but as well the
- 14:03:27other 39 communities in
- 14:03:29the county, it's a privilege.
- 14:03:30People, when they come here, they feel
- 14:03:32the well-being, the prosperity that we
- 14:03:36portrayed as a community. And that is
- 14:03:38something that it's phenomenal to not
- 14:03:41only to attract visitors, but as well to
- 14:03:44enhance the quality of place and quality
- 14:03:46of life that all of
- 14:03:46us that will live here.
- 14:03:48And one of the things that's so
- 14:03:49attractive about Palm Beach County is not
- 14:03:51only do we have a certain style or a
- 14:03:53certain culture here, with all the
- 14:03:55different communities, we have a complete
- 14:03:57strata of different types of folks, different kinds of people.
- 14:03:59Different types of folks, different
- 14:04:00cultures. We have obviously Palm Beach
- 14:04:02all the way to the agricultural
- 14:04:03communities out West in Belglade.
- 14:04:06There's so much going on here, so many
- 14:04:09different types of people that can be
- 14:04:11very attractive to
- 14:04:11folks who are visiting.
- 14:04:13And I think that's part of the DNA, as
- 14:04:15you said at the beginning, and one of the
- 14:04:17part of the secret sauce
- 14:04:18that we have is the destination.
- 14:04:20The fact of the matter is that if you go
- 14:04:22back more than 125 years ago, when all of
- 14:04:25this started, we started like a very nice
- 14:04:29place to come and visit.
- 14:04:31And from that we evolved to this
- 14:04:33worldwide known travel brand, very solid
- 14:04:36brand across the world.
- 14:04:38And now we are this hub in which
- 14:04:40everything that comes and happens here,
- 14:04:43and West Palm Beach is a perfect example
- 14:04:45of that. It is amazing.
- 14:04:46It is flourishing and you can take
- 14:04:50culture, lifestyle, social, health care,
- 14:04:53finance, and unique tourism.
- 14:04:54It's growing left and right, north and
- 14:04:57south, and that is something that is very
- 14:04:59unique, but it's part of that trajectory
- 14:05:02and that track record of the destination.
- 14:05:06Yeah, I like that term trajectory. I
- 14:05:07mean, the entity, the discover of the
- 14:05:10Palm Beaches in its very earliest form
- 14:05:12sort of came together in the early 80s.
- 14:05:14And it has grown along with the county
- 14:05:19and with the cities that have populated
- 14:05:20the county over the last 40 years.
- 14:05:25Looking at where we are right now
- 14:05:27compared to, say, five years ago or 10
- 14:05:29years ago, our growth
- 14:05:32has been exponential.
- 14:05:33Do you feel that you've adjusted your
- 14:05:38marketing, your approach to making this
- 14:05:40community attractive to
- 14:05:42visitors because of that growth?
- 14:05:44That's a great question. And the answer
- 14:05:46is yes. I mean, every year, especially to
- 14:05:50remain competitive and to learn,
- 14:05:52especially because of the introduction of
- 14:05:53technology, AI, and all the tech
- 14:05:57platforms that exist, you are.
- 14:05:59And not only that, the behavior of our
- 14:06:02consumers, the way you engage with them
- 14:06:04really push you and force
- 14:06:05you to look to different ways.
- 14:06:08And the organization of 1983, which was
- 14:06:10when we started being the destination
- 14:06:13marketing organization for the Palm Beach
- 14:06:15County, we have evolved tremendously, not
- 14:06:17only in size, not only in budget, but as
- 14:06:19well as the type of talent that we
- 14:06:21attract and the way we
- 14:06:22engage and the markets.
- 14:06:24Now we're physically and actually
- 14:06:27promoting and presenting the county as an
- 14:06:32option for visitors.
- 14:06:34Let's talk a little bit about something
- 14:06:36that folks don't really realize. A lot of
- 14:06:38folks just think, well, you know, we're
- 14:06:40Florida, we're going to self-promote.
- 14:06:42It just sort of happens. People know
- 14:06:43we're the beach, we're the tropics, we're
- 14:06:45going to come. That's not the case.
- 14:06:46There is an active effort to promote this
- 14:06:49community and this county to places far
- 14:06:53and wide. What sort of staff do you have?
- 14:06:55What kind of is it? What
- 14:06:56is your organization like?
- 14:06:58I'm going to answer that question, but I
- 14:06:59have to go back to what you said about in
- 14:07:02the past. Maybe we didn't
- 14:07:04need to promote Florida.
- 14:07:07And you know what? To a certain extent,
- 14:07:08maybe 20, 30 years ago, that was the
- 14:07:11case. But nowadays we compete.
- 14:07:13Palm Beach County, we compete with Dubai,
- 14:07:16we compete with the South of France, we
- 14:07:18compete with other important
- 14:07:19destinations here in the state.
- 14:07:22So it's a different approach. And to do
- 14:07:24that, we have a fully staffed
- 14:07:27organization, 53,
- 14:07:28talented. I'm so proud of them.
- 14:07:31The reason why we are so successful is
- 14:07:34that we have such a phenomenal team
- 14:07:36across the board. So we have from
- 14:07:39specialists in social media to people
- 14:07:44selling the destination, bringing
- 14:07:46meetings and conventions to the
- 14:07:48convention center
- 14:07:49here in West Palm Beach.
- 14:07:50We have, as I said, from the marketing
- 14:07:53side to the sales side to the community
- 14:07:56engagement that we have. So not too many
- 14:07:59people knows exactly what we are or who
- 14:08:02we are and what we do.
- 14:08:03And that is how we try to engage with our
- 14:08:05local. So they understand that our only
- 14:08:07reason to exist is to represent all of
- 14:08:11them, all the county
- 14:08:12residents and cities in the world.
- 14:08:17Just to make sure that it's clear, you're
- 14:08:19not necessarily a private organization.
- 14:08:22You are charted to the county?
- 14:08:24No, we are a non-for-profit private
- 14:08:26organization with a contract with the
- 14:08:28county for 43 years. And our main source
- 14:08:32of revenue is the room tax that the
- 14:08:35visitors, not the
- 14:08:35residents, the visitors.
- 14:08:37So our efforts are revenue neutral,
- 14:08:42number one, and it's fully paid by
- 14:08:44visitors that once they pay from their
- 14:08:47personal disposable income, they pay
- 14:08:50their room rate in the hotel or alternate
- 14:08:52lodging they selected.
- 14:08:54Six percent of that will come back in a
- 14:08:56way back to the county. And we have a
- 14:08:58portion of that and we reinvest that
- 14:09:00money so more people can come and get to
- 14:09:02know about the Palm Beaches.
- 14:09:04So that's really important. I think a lot
- 14:09:06of people would immediately assume, oh,
- 14:09:08tax base, this is coming out of my
- 14:09:10pocket. No, that's not the case.
- 14:09:12Not a single dollar of what
- 14:09:14we invest are from residents.
- 14:09:16Now, the other thing that you mentioned
- 14:09:17that really sort of piqued my interest,
- 14:09:19you mentioned places like Dubai. Do we
- 14:09:22actually reach out globally to try to
- 14:09:25attract visitors to the area?
- 14:09:27Well, the thing is, those are
- 14:09:28destinations that are
- 14:09:29competing for the same visitors.
- 14:09:31OK, so but but for example, the markets
- 14:09:33that we are actively seeking right now,
- 14:09:36talking about international visitations
- 14:09:37are UK, Canada, Brazil,
- 14:09:41Mexico, Colombia, Germany.
- 14:09:44Those are the top five or six markets
- 14:09:46that constantly are sending visitors of
- 14:09:50the total visitation that we have in
- 14:09:52which last year we broke the record.
- 14:09:53Ten point seven million visitors. Wow.
- 14:09:57Close to 12 percent are international.
- 14:10:00The rest, the other 88 percent, give or
- 14:10:02take, are from domestic markets.
- 14:10:05So which is extremely important for us.
- 14:10:07There's no secret that this is a
- 14:10:09tumultuous time worldwide
- 14:10:10with a lot of stuff going on.
- 14:10:12Has this impacted the amount of traffic
- 14:10:14that we're seeing into the country from
- 14:10:15other other countries? Absolutely. There
- 14:10:18is there is an impact in our case.
- 14:10:20We've been able to anticipate. And even
- 14:10:22though we we we felt less than one
- 14:10:24percent decrease in international
- 14:10:26visitation, which is, I mean, not many
- 14:10:29destinations in not only in Florida, but
- 14:10:31in the nation are seeing that what you're
- 14:10:33seeing is in some cases, double digit
- 14:10:35decreases across the board.
- 14:10:37And that in our case was less than one
- 14:10:38percent of it all. But we've been able to
- 14:10:41really pinpoint local national markets
- 14:10:43like Houston and Dallas. And that
- 14:10:46visitors that we have lost because of the
- 14:10:48international situation, we've been able
- 14:10:50to regain with locals, meaning national
- 14:10:53markets like Houston and Dallas.
- 14:10:56And that shifted that small portion that
- 14:10:58was foreign or international, I should
- 14:11:01say, and made it so that we're tapping
- 14:11:04into more and more of a domestic market
- 14:11:06to sort of backfill.
- 14:11:07Absolutely. It's been that way. And at
- 14:11:10the end, we ended up establishing a new
- 14:11:12trend in which some of those secondary
- 14:11:16markets that we have and Dallas and
- 14:11:18Houston were two secondary markets.
- 14:11:20Now we are pushing them to become primary
- 14:11:22markets like New York. It is more
- 14:11:25Philadelphia or Chicago or or some of
- 14:11:28those areas in the Northeast that are
- 14:11:30primarily our main source of visitors.
- 14:11:33But now with this type of efforts, we are
- 14:11:35diversifying the source of visitors. So
- 14:11:38we know if if this one doesn't perform as
- 14:11:40well, we have another one coming up and
- 14:11:42we maintain the growth.
- 14:11:45And we have seen in the last two or three
- 14:11:47years how we've been growing the number
- 14:11:50of visitors by pretty much close to a
- 14:11:52million visitors per
- 14:11:54year, year over year.
- 14:11:56Do you guys use items like billboards or
- 14:12:00print ads and in those markets to
- 14:12:03attract? Do you use radio spots? And what
- 14:12:05percentage are using social media?
- 14:12:07Yeah, well, pretty much between 60 to 70
- 14:12:10percent of our market, excuse me, our
- 14:12:12advertising and marketing dollars are
- 14:12:14digital digital digital.
- 14:12:16And but yes, a traditional TV or
- 14:12:20magazines or out of home like a
- 14:12:22billboard, of course, in certain markets
- 14:12:24that are really important.
- 14:12:25But we're trying to drive most of our
- 14:12:28investment through the digital lenses in
- 14:12:32terms of potential markets to really
- 14:12:34connect with the
- 14:12:35audiences that we're looking at.
- 14:12:37And we're making significant investment
- 14:12:39and changes into the early adoption of
- 14:12:42some technological platforms.
- 14:12:43Not only that as well. Introduction and
- 14:12:46early adoption of new technologies that
- 14:12:48are available, not only AI, but how we
- 14:12:51can really predict and forecast better.
- 14:12:54So we can pinpoint and redirect all the
- 14:12:56marketing efforts and investment that we
- 14:12:58have into the markets that we know that
- 14:13:00if we promote the destination there, we
- 14:13:05will we should have a quick return on
- 14:13:06investment by
- 14:13:07visitation to the to the county.
- 14:13:10Let's shift gears for a moment. West Palm
- 14:13:13Beach is in the news these days, both
- 14:13:16West Palm and Palm Beach.
- 14:13:18Obviously, a lot of talk, a lot of
- 14:13:20chatter. Has this had any effect on your
- 14:13:23perceived effect on people visiting the
- 14:13:25area, people coming, people not coming?
- 14:13:27Well, I can tell you that West Palm Beach
- 14:13:29and Palm Beach, those two names are in
- 14:13:32the media every single day, thousands of
- 14:13:34times, you know, no doubt.
- 14:13:36And obviously, that creates a desire for
- 14:13:39people to to see the ones that they know
- 14:13:42they know, but the
- 14:13:43others will start searching.
- 14:13:45And we in all of our search engine
- 14:13:48optimizations and AI optimization, we're
- 14:13:52making sure that we provide the
- 14:13:54information or make the information
- 14:13:55available in those sources.
- 14:13:57And we have noticed that regardless of
- 14:14:00why the name is brought to the media, the
- 14:14:04fact of the matter is that the intention
- 14:14:05to travel and to visit
- 14:14:07has gone up tremendously.
- 14:14:08Because I mean, it's it's it's that's the
- 14:14:11nature of the business when you something
- 14:14:13start being mentioned in TV or radio or
- 14:14:16print or digital media.
- 14:14:19Obviously, people will start searching
- 14:14:20and we've been maximizing that
- 14:14:22opportunity as well.
- 14:14:23Outstanding. Very interesting.
- 14:14:26West Palm Beach has also gone through a
- 14:14:30period of time, especially coming out of
- 14:14:31the pandemic, where the term Wall Street
- 14:14:35South has been associated with the
- 14:14:37explosive growth in financial and
- 14:14:40business here in the city.
- 14:14:43What has that done for our profile? Is
- 14:14:45that something that has been a positive
- 14:14:46or negative as far as
- 14:14:48tourism is concerned?
- 14:14:49Having the opportunity to work very close
- 14:14:51to the BDB Business Development Award and
- 14:14:53the leadership over there, Kelly
- 14:14:55Smallridge, she's phenomenal.
- 14:14:58The current chairman of the board,
- 14:15:00Michael J. Prince, it
- 14:15:02is it is a privilege.
- 14:15:03And what they've been able to do for the
- 14:15:05destination in attracting new business,
- 14:15:09not only because of a Wall Street South,
- 14:15:11which is a phenomenal slogan that it's
- 14:15:12working, but also the fact that we've
- 14:15:15been able to get close and make sure that
- 14:15:16the two most important components
- 14:15:18that attract visitors or investors are
- 14:15:23the efforts that BDB is leading and then
- 14:15:25the efforts were
- 14:15:26leading to attract visitors.
- 14:15:28And when you put those two together, I'm
- 14:15:30going to make you a short story. There is
- 14:15:32one. It's called the Vitality Wheel.
- 14:15:35It is a concept studied in tourism in
- 14:15:39which most likely and I have met so many
- 14:15:41people in our county and here in West
- 14:15:43Palm Beach, as a matter of
- 14:15:44fact, that are a result of this.
- 14:15:47Vitality Wheel, which is everything start
- 14:15:49with a visit. You come here, you like it.
- 14:15:52You come back. You know what, honey,
- 14:15:54let's go back there. I love it.
- 14:15:56We spent a great weekend and West Palm
- 14:15:58Beach. I want to go back. And guess what?
- 14:16:00From that visit, you know what? I like
- 14:16:02really I would like to live here.
- 14:16:04And then, you know, you make the
- 14:16:05decision. I want to live in West Palm
- 14:16:07Beach. And then said, you know what? But
- 14:16:09I need to work in West Palm Beach.
- 14:16:11And most of this are entrepreneurs. They
- 14:16:14own and they start investing. So what
- 14:16:17started with the visit became a resident
- 14:16:19and that resident started working here
- 14:16:21and they invested here.
- 14:16:23And that cycle, again, we were not saying
- 14:16:26everything that is happening is because
- 14:16:28tourism. But I can tell you that a lot of
- 14:16:30people that are investing now here in
- 14:16:32West Palm Beach and across the county,
- 14:16:35they were a visitor first.
- 14:16:36And that's part of the cycle that we
- 14:16:38believe we bring to the table that in
- 14:16:39conjunction with the phenomenal efforts
- 14:16:41done by not only the BDB, but as well
- 14:16:44other chambers that we have across the
- 14:16:47county and the arrays and CRAs.
- 14:16:50Excuse me, the DAs and CRAs. It's a
- 14:16:52phenomenal teamwork.
- 14:16:54You speak the truth because historically
- 14:16:57there is proof that these types of
- 14:17:00changes, people visiting and then
- 14:17:02deciding to stay is absolutely the truth.
- 14:17:05Back in the end of World War Two, a great
- 14:17:07deal of the servicemen who were trained
- 14:17:10in moving through the system to go to
- 14:17:12Europe were coming
- 14:17:13through West Palm Beach.
- 14:17:14A lot of them came here, saw what we had,
- 14:17:17saw the beauty, saw the tropical
- 14:17:19qualities of it and decided when they
- 14:17:21came back from the war that they were
- 14:17:23going to make West Palm Beach their home.
- 14:17:25So you're spot on. People who get an
- 14:17:27opportunity to come visit us, to sample
- 14:17:30our culture, to sample our hospitality
- 14:17:32will often make the decision that this is
- 14:17:34a great place to live.
- 14:17:36And to add to that, just think about what
- 14:17:39is happening right now. Significant
- 14:17:41investment left and right in West Palm
- 14:17:44Beach, attracting financial institutions,
- 14:17:46attracting technology driven companies,
- 14:17:50looking to establish not only a branch,
- 14:17:52the main headquarters of those companies
- 14:17:54are moving from
- 14:17:55California, from New York.
- 14:17:56They're coming here because we've been
- 14:17:58able to provide not only the incentive
- 14:18:01for them to come, but the quality of
- 14:18:03place and quality of life that is so
- 14:18:05important at this moment for any business
- 14:18:07to decide to move their
- 14:18:09operations to another place.
- 14:18:11And when you put that together and then
- 14:18:13you factor in the tourism, you know, what
- 14:18:15everything, the quality of place, tourism
- 14:18:18is really important in
- 14:18:19enhancing the quality of place.
- 14:18:20I mean, you bring a hotel, you bring a
- 14:18:22restaurant and that will make it better
- 14:18:24not only for the visitors, but as well
- 14:18:25for us that we enjoy
- 14:18:27that here as residents.
- 14:18:29I think we're selling a lot of people who
- 14:18:30live here who may not have known about
- 14:18:32the effort that's being made in tourism
- 14:18:34to see that this is really a good thing.
- 14:18:36What can folks who live here do to help
- 14:18:40promote it? What can they
- 14:18:42do to make your life easier?
- 14:18:45That's one of the most important
- 14:18:46components of the success we've been
- 14:18:48experiencing. Now let me tell you why.
- 14:18:50Close to 38 percent. That's a big number.
- 14:18:5338 percent of all our visitors in a way
- 14:18:55or another arrive here because of a
- 14:18:57friend or family that
- 14:18:58they have in the county.
- 14:19:00So when you do the math, I mean, we had
- 14:19:0310.7 million visitors last year and I'm
- 14:19:05telling you that 38 percent in a way or
- 14:19:07another came here because they have
- 14:19:09either a friend, a
- 14:19:10family or somebody here.
- 14:19:13So what we're trying to do is to make
- 14:19:14sure we provide our residents with the
- 14:19:16tools and we have this program. It's
- 14:19:18called Love the Palm Beaches.
- 14:19:20And you can go and be part of the groups
- 14:19:22that we have available in different
- 14:19:24social media platforms.
- 14:19:25And we will provide you with photos and
- 14:19:28things that you could use on videos. So
- 14:19:31if you want to really invite a friend,
- 14:19:33you can send a video of,
- 14:19:34I don't know, clematis.
- 14:19:36Or you can send a video of the waterfront
- 14:19:39when you have the bow show, which is
- 14:19:40going to happen in a few weeks. So again,
- 14:19:43that's what we're trying to do because at
- 14:19:44the end of the day, the residents, they
- 14:19:47are not only the ones that invite, but
- 14:19:49also they are the ones that provide the
- 14:19:51experience to our visitors.
- 14:19:53And we want to be hand in hand with them
- 14:19:54connected at all levels, knowing what
- 14:19:56they expect, what they want, what they
- 14:19:58don't want so we can provide
- 14:20:00it in the best possible way.
- 14:20:02So in effect, you have almost an
- 14:20:03ambassador program that's grassroots.
- 14:20:05Correct. Correct.
- 14:20:06That's really, really neat. And their
- 14:20:08endorsement is going to be
- 14:20:11fantastic. They live here.
- 14:20:14Yes. They want you to
- 14:20:15come. That's fantastic.
- 14:20:17And one of the things that we are
- 14:20:18intentional on this is that we don't want
- 14:20:21to become, I mean, I'm going to say this
- 14:20:24with a lot of respect, but we are
- 14:20:26surrounded by phenomenal destinations,
- 14:20:27Orlando, Broward, Miami.
- 14:20:30But we respect that type of tourism. We
- 14:20:33are different here. We have this sense of
- 14:20:35balance that our residents wants to
- 14:20:38maintain and our visitors wants to enjoy.
- 14:20:42And that balance is key and everything
- 14:20:44that we're doing as an organization, not
- 14:20:46only as Discover, but as well as as part
- 14:20:49of the TDC, the Tourist Development
- 14:20:51Council component, which includes not
- 14:20:52only us, but as well the Sports
- 14:20:54Commission, the Cultural Council, the
- 14:20:56Film and TV, the Convention Center,
- 14:20:59Environmental Resources Management.
- 14:21:00We think together to make sure that we
- 14:21:02provide the balance between what we need
- 14:21:05to do to attract people, but also to make
- 14:21:07sure that we understand and we pay
- 14:21:10attention to the
- 14:21:11expectations of our residents.
- 14:21:13One of the incredible resources you bring
- 14:21:15to the table is the website full of
- 14:21:18information that's designed for people
- 14:21:21thinking of coming to visit here.
- 14:21:22But honestly, it's full of really great
- 14:21:24information for folks
- 14:21:26who already live here.
- 14:21:28There are restaurant listings. There are
- 14:21:31places to visit. I don't know how many
- 14:21:33times I've been in a situation where I've
- 14:21:35had people visiting out of state. I'm
- 14:21:36going, gee, what shall I have them do?
- 14:21:38Oh, I'll take a look at this website. I'm
- 14:21:40up with some great ideas. And that URL is
- 14:21:44the PalmBeaches.com.
- 14:21:47And it is a fabulous, fabulous website to
- 14:21:50gain a tremendous amount of information.
- 14:21:52Well, let me tell you, I mean, we are
- 14:21:55tourists in this beautiful, my wife and
- 14:21:57I, my family. And sometimes on a Saturday
- 14:21:59afternoon, my wife will tell
- 14:22:01me, let's go to such place.
- 14:22:02So this restaurant, I said, where did you
- 14:22:04find that place in your website? You
- 14:22:07know, it's there. So there you go. It is
- 14:22:09a very useful tool for
- 14:22:10the residents as well.
- 14:22:13In wrapping up, if you had the
- 14:22:15opportunity to share a message with the
- 14:22:17folks who live here, the folks who are
- 14:22:19involved in in developing and keeping
- 14:22:22this culture alive and making this place
- 14:22:24the wonderful place that it is to visit.
- 14:22:26What was what be your
- 14:22:27message about what you do to them?
- 14:22:30Well, we understand the values and
- 14:22:32principles of our residents. We
- 14:22:33understand what they want and we know
- 14:22:35what they don't want.
- 14:22:36And our goal is to bring sustainable and
- 14:22:39responsible tourism to West Palm Beach
- 14:22:41and the county in order to maintain the
- 14:22:4495000 people that works directly and
- 14:22:46indirectly of this of this industry that
- 14:22:49they generate more than eleven point
- 14:22:52seven billion dollars in economic impact
- 14:22:54to to to not only West Palm
- 14:22:57Beach, but to the entire county.
- 14:22:58We're one of the largest silos in our
- 14:23:03economy, in our county economy. And we
- 14:23:05want to make sure that we represent them
- 14:23:07with a lot of, you know, very proud and
- 14:23:10make sure that when any visitors in any
- 14:23:13place of the world, they decide to
- 14:23:15connect and visit us, they will see that
- 14:23:17through value of being this wonderful
- 14:23:20place where the sense of balance, where
- 14:23:22the prosperity, where the well-being
- 14:23:25feelings, it will be part and will
- 14:23:27enhance the aspirations of the world.
- 14:23:28And that's what we're trying to convey
- 14:23:33every single day is quite a challenge,
- 14:23:36but you guys are surely up to it. And
- 14:23:38thank you so much for spending your time
- 14:23:40with us. Thank you so much for the
- 14:23:41invitation. Keep on
- 14:23:42keeping on. Thank you.
