- 0:00SPEAKER_04: Tomorrow w with the Montour Falls Festival kicking off at noon.
- 0:03SPEAKER_04: Fireworks uh after you know it gets dark earlier, so you don't have to wait till nine thirty for fireworks.
- 0:07SPEAKER_04: It's like seven thirty.
- 0:08SPEAKER_05: That's what I love about it.
- 0:09SPEAKER_04: But don't mark my time at exactly seven thirty.
- 0:12SPEAKER_04: If it's a little bit before that, I don't want you to be like, well, can't say seven thirty.
- 0:14SPEAKER_03: And I got there uh I it was at seven.
- 0:17SPEAKER_04: Oh okay, just make sure we're gonna go.
- 0:19SPEAKER_04: Get there at seven.
- 0:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, get there at seven.
- 0:21SPEAKER_04: How about that?
- 0:22SPEAKER_04: How about you get there at one?
- 0:23SPEAKER_04: Hang out, just do everything.
- 0:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah, right.
- 0:25SPEAKER_04: Um, so that's going on.
- 0:26SPEAKER_04: Now, uh, I need to come over and I need to mention if anybody saw Allie pull her car over on the side of the highway the other day and start lapping liquid off the ground, it's because of this.
- 0:37SPEAKER_02: The semi came through carrying uh 90 barrels of bourbon whiskey.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: Accidentally hit one of the attenuators or the guardrails between the lanes coming through, jarred the truck.
- 0:47SPEAKER_02: I think there were eight barrels that were damaged.
- 0:49SPEAKER_04: Dang it.
- 0:51SPEAKER_04: Of all the you know, you hear about the truck that loses the baloney.
- 0:54SPEAKER_04: Yes, the parakeets.
- 0:56SPEAKER_05: I'm never at the right place, right time.
- 0:58SPEAKER_05: What kind of what kind of bourbon was it?
- 0:59SPEAKER_04: I I'm not sure, but it was in West Virginia, so it you know, it it's gotta be something good.
- 1:04SPEAKER_05: Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:04SPEAKER_05: It's gotta make you go blind.
- 1:06SPEAKER_05: No, uh, that's moonshine.
- 1:07SPEAKER_04: But but or licking it off the pavement, that might do it.
- 1:11SPEAKER_05: If it's wild turkey, nah, thanks.
- 1:13SPEAKER_05: If it's something like a bullet, I would absolutely be on the side of the highway, like, uh, because you know, a barrel.
- 1:21SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:22SPEAKER_04: That's a big amount.
- 1:22SPEAKER_05: Well, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:23SPEAKER_05: But I'm saying like if it falls off and it has that cylindrical shape, there still might be something that's like in that boy.
- 1:31SPEAKER_04: This is the most glass half full or bourbon uh glass half full, if you will, that I've ever heard.
- 1:38SPEAKER_04: All right, here's a theoretical question for you.
- 1:40SPEAKER_04: Go ahead.
- 1:40SPEAKER_04: This is real tough.
- 1:42SPEAKER_04: This guy finds more than$128,000 on top of a bank ATM and he returns every dollar.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: To find that kind of money or that amount of money is certainly rare.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: That's very unusual.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: Am I reading this correctly?
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: Somebody found$128,000.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: Which officer has it?
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: So I've never had a case like this before.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: There was no indication of a crime occurring.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: It looked like it was just left there by accident.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: He just thinks it's the right thing to do and doesn't think it goes beyond that.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: I've had cases where good Samaritans have turned in property that they found, wallets, IDs, things like that.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: But in the case of$128,000, I've never had somebody turn in that kind of money before.
- 2:21SPEAKER_05: I could pay off my house.
- 2:22SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 2:23SPEAKER_05: And well, let me think about this.
- 2:25SPEAKER_05: So because cars are about what a what do cars run now?
- 2:27SPEAKER_05: I haven't bought a car in since 20%.
- 2:32SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 2:33SPEAKER_04: The payments should be about$190 a month.
- 2:36SPEAKER_05: Oh my gosh.
- 2:36SPEAKER_05: But let's say our cars run about like$30,$40 now.
- 2:39SPEAKER_05: Would you say a nicer car?
- 2:40SPEAKER_04: Um no, a nicer one's gonna be about$49,000.
- 2:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 2:45SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 2:45SPEAKER_05: Well then uh regardless, I could pay off my house and at least get a good start on a car.
- 2:50SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 2:51SPEAKER_04: Or you pick and choose and say, I don't mind paying my mortgage payment, but I don't want to pay a car payment, so I'll do that.
- 2:56SPEAKER_05: And did this guy get a reward for this?
- 2:58SPEAKER_04: That's my other question.
- 3:00SPEAKER_04: I hope so.
- 3:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah, the money was uh accidentally left behind by a Brinks employee.
- 3:04SPEAKER_04: Well, he's getting fired.
- 3:06SPEAKER_04: Ex employee.
- 3:07SPEAKER_03: I was just gonna say.
- 3:08SPEAKER_04: Uh, and uh that uh oh, he emptied the ATM.
- 3:12SPEAKER_04: Yes, and the man that found the cash didn't want to be identified.
- 3:16SPEAKER_04: I mean, listen, I think What a good Samaritan.
- 3:19SPEAKER_04: I think it's good.
- 3:20SPEAKER_04: You're right.
- 3:22SPEAKER_04: Also at the same time, I do feel he deserves some sort of a reward.
- 3:25SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 3:25SPEAKER_04: And not a free toaster from the opening a new checking account.
- 3:29SPEAKER_04: You literally just save the bank a ton of money.
- 3:31SPEAKER_05: So do banks have this?
- 3:32SPEAKER_05: I I'm sure we have so many banks that listen.
- 3:35SPEAKER_05: Do they have kind of like a reserve to cover certain things like this?
- 3:39SPEAKER_05: FDIC.
- 3:41SPEAKER_05: There you go.
- 3:41SPEAKER_05: Yes, then absolutely.
- 3:43SPEAKER_05: Then give the guy some money.
- 3:44SPEAKER_04: He can't there's gotta be something.
- 3:46SPEAKER_05: Although he would have been on he would have been on camera.
- 3:48SPEAKER_04: Nonetheless, this guy found the money.
- 3:51SPEAKER_04: No, you gotta think of it like this.
- 3:52SPEAKER_04: He found the money on top of the ATM.
- 3:54SPEAKER_04: He was the one that said, whoop, I'm gonna make sure it gets given back.
- 3:57SPEAKER_04: Because if he would have not touched it and just, or taken a video like we all do, let's just take a video of this.
- 4:02SPEAKER_04: And you know, here's somebody in a horrific car accident.
- 4:05SPEAKER_04: Let's take a video, but keep on rolling, not helping in any way.
- 4:08SPEAKER_04: If he would have kept rolling, the next person would have taken it and kept it, or it would have been a harder search, or you you know what I'm saying?
- 4:14SPEAKER_04: Like this would have not have worked out the way it did.
- 4:16SPEAKER_05: Because cameras are at ATMs and around ATMs.
- 4:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and you forget that when there's$128,000 sitting there.
- 4:22SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 4:23SPEAKER_05: So if he took the money, the bank would eventually contact him and say, We need our money back.
- 4:28SPEAKER_04: I don't think the bank would contact him.
- 4:29SPEAKER_04: I think the police department would.
- 4:31SPEAKER_05: Either one.
- 4:32SPEAKER_05: Either one, but I mean they're gonna they're gonna realize, wait, we're missing$128,000.
- 4:37SPEAKER_05: Okay, let's look at the tapes.
- 4:39SPEAKER_05: Where did this happen?
- 4:40SPEAKER_05: And then they're gonna easily find out, oh, because this guy was carrying because$128,000.
- 4:46SPEAKER_05: It's like a big sack of money.
- 4:47SPEAKER_05: Yeah, exactly.
- 4:48SPEAKER_05: Exactly.
- 4:48SPEAKER_05: So they realize, oh, he's carrying it out.
- 4:50SPEAKER_05: He's gonna have to return it anyway.
- 4:52SPEAKER_04: I I do think though that he should get something.
- 4:55SPEAKER_04: I do too.
- 4:56SPEAKER_04: Something.
- 4:56SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 4:56SPEAKER_04: I'm I'm not 100% sure what it is.
- 4:59SPEAKER_05: Um, okay,$120.
- 5:00SPEAKER_04: 10 grand.
- 5:01SPEAKER_04: I know what it is.
- 5:02SPEAKER_04: I I just figured it out.
- 5:03SPEAKER_04: Here's your reward.
- 5:04SPEAKER_04: If he has a mortgage with the bank, like I have, you know, I have most of my accounts with one bank and me too.
- 5:10SPEAKER_04: And and my mortgage is with them.
- 5:11SPEAKER_04: Me too.
- 5:12SPEAKER_04: I want you, because let's face it, when you pay a mortgage, a majority of your payment is interest.
- 5:17SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 5:17SPEAKER_04: Very little is principal.
- 5:19SPEAKER_04: I want you to uh either put$10,000 towards my principal.
- 5:24SPEAKER_04: Oh, that's a good idea.
- 5:25SPEAKER_04: That's a great idea.
- 5:26SPEAKER_04: Or uh do you know I don't know, uh do something where my next five, you know, six payments all go to principal, no interest.
- 5:35SPEAKER_04: And you know what I mean?
- 5:36SPEAKER_04: That way the bank is not necessarily pulling out their own money going, well, we'd like to give you five thousand for the reward.
- 5:44SPEAKER_04: They're not going to.
- 5:45SPEAKER_04: It's internal.
- 5:46SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 5:46SPEAKER_04: They're really not losing anything because you've got a million other mortgages.
- 5:50SPEAKER_05: They're not going to because they know that if he would have taken it, they would have gotten it back anyway.
- 5:55SPEAKER_04: You know you're right.
- 5:56SPEAKER_05: And wouldn't he have gotten punished?
- 5:57SPEAKER_04: You can't do a good thing in this world anymore.
- 5:59SPEAKER_05: Do you get punished?
- 5:59SPEAKER_05: Because it's like you don't know whose it is.
- 6:01SPEAKER_05: It's just sitting there, you know?
- 6:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you you it it there is a I'm sure in the legal system there's a theft of property of some way.
- 6:08SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 6:08SPEAKER_05: I didn't take it out of the ATM.
- 6:10SPEAKER_05: It was on top of the ATM.
- 6:11SPEAKER_04: I know, but I'm sure that there's if it was blowing around the parking lot.
- 6:16SPEAKER_05: Then I could take it, right?
- 6:17SPEAKER_04: Two parking lots over.
- 6:19SPEAKER_04: Community bank, Water Street, okay?
- 6:20SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 6:21SPEAKER_05: I'm envisioning it right now.
- 6:22SPEAKER_04: And the money's blowing around the rounding third parking lot.
- 6:25SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 6:26SPEAKER_04: Might be a little bit harder to, you know, nail down where that money was from, what it was all about.
- 6:31SPEAKER_05: But sitting on top of the ATM, I and also if it's uh blowing around the rounding third parking lot, first round's on me.
- 6:38SPEAKER_05: Okay.
