- 0:02Speaker 1: I'm going to get it right this time.
- 0:03Speaker 2: It's Thursday, Yes, just in fair territory, by the way,
- 0:06Speaker 2: if you want to check that out later. I had
- 0:09Speaker 2: some fun with Ken and we've got a lot of
- 0:12Speaker 2: hit to a lot to hit today, but I do
- 0:14Speaker 2: want to start with what I think is a fun
- 0:16Speaker 2: one that you will both appreciate. A member of our network,
- 0:20Speaker 2: the FT Network, is still kicking it and it is
- 0:25Speaker 2: former Minnesota Twins pitcher and former Big leaguer Tyler Duffy,
- 0:29Speaker 2: who is in Mexico. He's also one of the hosts
- 0:32Speaker 2: of our twin show Twin Cities Territory. So let's run
- 0:36Speaker 2: that so you guys can see a little reaction and
- 0:38Speaker 2: maybe send him a good luck out there in Mexico.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:42Speaker 4: I'm in Marita, Mexico right now. I'm going to join
- 0:45Speaker 4: the Leoniste Yucatan, try my hand it some pitching for
- 0:49Speaker 4: a minute and see if some things work out.
- 0:53Speaker 5: That's awesome.
- 0:54Speaker 4: We're cabinet and cabinet and you know, flying by the seat.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Of our pants on your way to practice right now, correct.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Yeah, headed to the stadium. You know, I joke with
- 1:05Speaker 4: everybody how fast baseball is, you know, and you get
- 1:07Speaker 4: a call on a Monday and they say, hey, you
- 1:09Speaker 4: want to pitch on Thursday, and you kind of just go.
- 1:11Speaker 4: So it's uh, you know, things happen quick and uh,
- 1:14Speaker 4: you know, we'll see where we end up.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Hey, duff, how far are you built up?
- 1:18Speaker 5: This is a spring training question. How how many pitches
- 1:20Speaker 5: are you good for right now?
- 1:22Speaker 4: So I've been ripping like sixty pitch bullpens, which anyone
- 1:26Speaker 4: who's ever done that is not the funnest thing to do. Uh,
- 1:29Speaker 4: you know, we had some hitters for a while, and
- 1:31Speaker 4: you face the same three guys for like a month
- 1:34Speaker 4: and you can't get anybody out anymore or anything. And
- 1:36Speaker 4: so it'll be good to get some some spikes on
- 1:39Speaker 4: and the turf and uh you'll see some real hitters
- 1:42Speaker 4: have some energy and you know all that good stuff.
- 1:45Speaker 3: So we'll see.
- 1:45Speaker 4: I'm just saying, I gotta survive.
- 1:47Speaker 3: The first inning.
- 1:47Speaker 4: That'll be the hardest part.
- 1:49Speaker 3: And you're starting tomorrow? Is that right Thursday? I think?
- 1:52Speaker 4: Yeah, the plan was tomorrow, but you know, as y'all
- 1:55Speaker 4: well know, things can change in a heartbeat. So headed
- 1:57Speaker 4: the stadium, get a little a little work in and
- 2:00Speaker 4: get hydrated. It's nice and toasty down here, so you know,
- 2:04Speaker 4: it's it's just a little South Texas weather.
- 2:06Speaker 3: What it really is, how does this work? Is it
- 2:08Speaker 3: a contract situation, a certain timeframe or open ended?
- 2:12Speaker 4: Yeah, so it's basically show up and play.
- 2:15Speaker 3: You know.
- 2:16Speaker 4: I comped this league a lot too, if you combined
- 2:19Speaker 4: college and major league baseball together, because you can get
- 2:23Speaker 4: traded left and right, and every game matters exponentially more
- 2:28Speaker 4: than a major.
- 2:28Speaker 1: League baseball game.
- 2:29Speaker 4: So it's just, uh, it's do or die. You know,
- 2:32Speaker 4: we're I think they're like three weeks in down here
- 2:34Speaker 4: and managers and GM's are already fired and getting rehired.
- 2:37Speaker 4: It's uh, it's the Wild West. It's fun if you
- 2:41Speaker 4: like playing baseball.
- 2:42Speaker 1: It's a good place. That's cool. I think of a
- 2:45Speaker 1: couple of things.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Number one, like Kevin Pillar getting DF eight and then
- 2:49Speaker 2: coming on our show seconds later. It's just cool to
- 2:50Speaker 2: get the inside access of a player going through his journey.
- 2:53Speaker 2: And Aja also just randomly thought of this. If digital
- 2:57Speaker 2: shows and podcasts were more of a thing, maybe you
- 2:59Speaker 2: would have done that tail end of the career, right,
- 3:01Speaker 2: Like if we came to you for FT, really you
- 3:04Speaker 2: wouldn't You wouldn't appear like Duffy's doing. You wouldn't have
- 3:06Speaker 2: touched that.
- 3:07Speaker 3: No chance. No, really, what's what's the what's the upside
- 3:10Speaker 3: for me to do?
- 3:11Speaker 5: That's Scott?
- 3:12Speaker 2: What's the upside? Well, you eventually get into media and
- 3:15Speaker 2: my thing. I mean you know this too. How many
- 3:18Speaker 2: players don't do crap with media or not interesting or
- 3:22Speaker 2: don't say anything or don't give much access, and then
- 3:24Speaker 2: they're the first in line to try and beg for
- 3:26Speaker 2: media jobs. I'm not saying that's you. You were the
- 3:28Speaker 2: opposite of that. You gave your time like nobody else.
- 3:30Speaker 2: But I was just wondering if you would have even
- 3:32Speaker 2: gone to the next level of being like, yeah, sure,
- 3:34Speaker 2: I'll document what's going on a little bit more.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Which would you want me to be? Trevor Bauer? We're
- 3:39Speaker 3: a microphone when I pitch and then you know at
- 3:40Speaker 3: the Empire, So I get no, I mean I don't understand, Like, no,
- 3:46Speaker 3: I wouldn't have done. First of all, Scott, I played
- 3:47Speaker 3: for long enough to where I didn't need to do this.
- 3:49Speaker 3: And second of all, I played till I was forty
- 3:50Speaker 3: years old. Was I gonna go play in Mexico or
- 3:53Speaker 3: Japan just to film it? And know, like, here's the
- 3:56Speaker 3: show idea I want is. I always said this I'm
- 4:00Speaker 3: probably too old to do now. And I had it
- 4:01Speaker 3: lined up with urban Meyer before he left Florida, where
- 4:04Speaker 3: I would walk onto the football team and we could
- 4:07Speaker 3: film that and make that a show and people would
- 4:08Speaker 3: be all excited because they get the crap beat out
- 4:10Speaker 3: of me twenty four hours a day.
- 4:11Speaker 5: Oh oh my gosh, what age? What age? Did you
- 4:18Speaker 5: feel like you were going to cut that off at
- 4:20Speaker 5: thirty five?
- 4:22Speaker 3: No, I still think I could do it. I think
- 4:24Speaker 3: I could do it for you.
- 4:24Speaker 5: Oh my god, like they're going to hit you or
- 4:27Speaker 5: you're kicking. Yeah.
- 4:29Speaker 3: I had it all set up. Urban Meyer had to
- 4:31Speaker 3: talk about this one time a couple of times, and
- 4:33Speaker 3: he said, I could be the what is it, the
- 4:35Speaker 3: missile on the kickoff team and I could just run
- 4:36Speaker 3: down and like cross body block, like the whole wedge
- 4:39Speaker 3: and then the rest of.
- 4:40Speaker 5: Oh you want to hit people?
- 4:42Speaker 3: Yeah, but they'd hit me back. It's not like I
- 4:43Speaker 3: would just be standing there age. It's like I only
- 4:46Speaker 3: got It's like, I'm that'll be awesome. I don't think
- 4:49Speaker 3: I could play tight end krats. I could play tight
- 4:52Speaker 3: end No, No, no, I never had.
- 4:55Speaker 5: It would look like it would look like you're standing
- 4:57Speaker 5: still and you're running as fast as you possibly couldn't.
- 5:00Speaker 5: They would just be like.
- 5:03Speaker 3: And you'd be like, all I gotta do is block
- 5:05Speaker 3: and just hold him in here, hold him in here.
- 5:07Speaker 3: You're fine, just hold him in here.
- 5:09Speaker 5: Cooked you would be on our injury suck segment.
- 5:15Speaker 1: A j I'm in between here.
- 5:16Speaker 2: So strength wise, obviously, I think you could keep up there.
- 5:19Speaker 2: I don't doubt that. But speed wise, dude, they're fast there.
- 5:26Speaker 3: You don't think I could. You don't think I could
- 5:27Speaker 3: be play on the punt team or something. You don't
- 5:30Speaker 3: think I get to put thirty pounds on it, play
- 5:32Speaker 3: play tight end, and you should be a blocking tight end.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Catch a pass every every month.
- 5:36Speaker 5: You'd be you'd be two seconds behind everybody.
- 5:39Speaker 1: That's my thing, dude, they're so fast.
- 5:42Speaker 3: You have fast.
- 5:46Speaker 2: That's the one thing is if you like strength again,
- 5:48Speaker 2: I'm not worried about strength catching football all that.
- 5:51Speaker 1: The one thing is.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Right, like krat said, if we just say, okay, everybody
- 5:55Speaker 2: sprint from one end to the football field to the other,
- 5:58Speaker 2: you'd be way behind.
- 5:59Speaker 1: And I mean, with this with all due respect, tax Stars.
- 6:03Speaker 3: You're telling me I can't outrun alignment.
- 6:05Speaker 5: No, absolutely not. I don't think so zero alignment. I'm
- 6:09Speaker 5: not finding one lineman, not one line you could not run?
- 6:13Speaker 3: Agree to disagree with this one?
- 6:14Speaker 1: Wait?
- 6:14Speaker 5: Wait?
- 6:15Speaker 2: Can we do this at some point like a j
- 6:17Speaker 2: Can we go up to Gainesville and just be like,
- 6:19Speaker 2: give us your slowest lineman who actually is a legit
- 6:22Speaker 2: player though, like who plays and see if right, Like
- 6:25Speaker 2: it's got to be a deeper alignment, not like.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Trained this a little bit.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, for sure, train or whatever however long you want,
- 6:34Speaker 2: and then we show up when is when is camps
- 6:36Speaker 2: for them?
- 6:37Speaker 1: July?
- 6:37Speaker 3: I mean start in August?
- 6:39Speaker 1: August?
- 6:40Speaker 5: Okay augusta.
- 6:42Speaker 2: I would love to see that, and and maybe you
- 6:44Speaker 2: surprise us. But I just think these dudes are they
- 6:47Speaker 2: can move like you're you're saying.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Somebody they can't. You don't think I'm going from.
- 6:53Speaker 1: One to the other.
- 6:54Speaker 3: I wasn't.
- 6:55Speaker 4: I'm not.
- 6:55Speaker 1: It's not fun.
- 6:57Speaker 3: At how far are we running?
- 6:58Speaker 2: If you're running a gunner on the kickoff team? I
- 7:01Speaker 2: want to see forty yards?
- 7:04Speaker 5: Okay, forty yards that's all we're run. I'm sixty.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Back when they were real times, I would have been.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Like a six your sprint speed, dude. It's the difference
- 7:15Speaker 2: between don't worry about him, Michael, get out of here.
- 7:21Speaker 2: But all right, we're going to talk about this and
- 7:23Speaker 2: see if we can line something up so you can
- 7:25Speaker 2: go up there and we can and yes, you train
- 7:27Speaker 2: and we have you face off again. To me, it's
- 7:30Speaker 2: got to be somebody like what you're saying. Somebody's got
- 7:32Speaker 2: to be on the kickoff team where they're a gunner. Right,
- 7:34Speaker 2: it doesn't have to be the freaking you know, cornerbacks.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Was gonna be the gunner, right, I said, I was
- 7:38Speaker 3: going to be the guy on the kickoff team that
- 7:40Speaker 3: just runs down. They don't have a wedge anymore. I
- 7:41Speaker 3: was going to be the wedgebuster. They called it the missile.
- 7:44Speaker 3: I'd be the guy that ran down and cross bodied
- 7:46Speaker 3: all three of the guys and then everybody would have.
- 7:48Speaker 5: To wait for you.
- 7:49Speaker 3: They'd be like, come on, come on, that's that's.
- 7:59Speaker 1: That's a good one. What about AJ versus the.
- 8:01Speaker 5: Freeze, Let's start with the refrigerator. He's got to go
- 8:06Speaker 5: to AJ versus the refrigerator down in Gwinnette.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Then you get would you face the freeze AJ in Atlanta?
- 8:12Speaker 2: Do you have any games.
- 8:13Speaker 1: There this year?
- 8:16Speaker 3: Yeah, July fourth, I have one.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Would you do it?
- 8:20Speaker 3: Hey? He doesn't run anymore? He doesn't, I don't think
- 8:24Speaker 3: so he didn't do the last game there.
- 8:27Speaker 5: Oh they say he retired.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Oh no, we got I didn't know that.
- 8:30Speaker 5: We got injury. Someone else. Injury sucks the freeze injured.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Hey, let's get into some games tonight thanks to seek eek,
- 8:39Speaker 2: the number one rated ticketing app with over thirty five
- 8:41Speaker 2: million downloads. So Thursdays usually have a lighter slate at night.
- 8:47Speaker 2: There are a ton of day games today, but we
- 8:48Speaker 2: like to look at the matchups. Oh, I am zoned
- 8:51Speaker 2: in on one from the jump. Now, I know Cubs
- 8:54Speaker 2: Braves is cool and sales pitching, And I think Ben
- 8:56Speaker 2: Brown can now get a chance here to be a
- 9:00Speaker 2: rotation member. He's always had that potential in my mind.
- 9:03Speaker 2: And there's a Dodgers Giants Ribberry. But come on, Ranger
- 9:06Speaker 2: Suarez against his old team, the Phillies. Phillies Red Sox
- 9:11Speaker 2: plus the team that everyone thought was the best at
- 9:13Speaker 2: getting tips last year, going against the guy who's had
- 9:15Speaker 2: maybe the most.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Tipping problems in the past year.
- 9:17Speaker 2: And hazus Lozardo like for a nerd, this is gold
- 9:21Speaker 2: for me.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Both Ranger back facing his old team.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Right, yeah, yeah, I mean that's what I'm saying.
- 9:28Speaker 3: It comes craz is the one that stands out more
- 9:29Speaker 3: than anything, just because Sales pitching against the team that
- 9:32Speaker 3: had been playing great and the Braves has beat him
- 9:35Speaker 3: the first two games. But yeah, I agree Ranger. Ranger
- 9:39Speaker 3: pitching against his old team is going to be interesting,
- 9:41Speaker 3: and Lozardo can either be really good or really bad,
- 9:44Speaker 3: So depending on which side of the aisle he comes
- 9:45Speaker 3: out on, this cound be a really good pitching matchup
- 9:47Speaker 3: or a not so good pitching matchup.
- 9:49Speaker 5: Hazus Lozardo was caused. You know everyone's saying, oh, tip
- 9:52Speaker 5: and pitches. Guess who Hazus Lozada pitched the worst against
- 9:56Speaker 5: this year? A good team but the Cubs. Guess who's
- 9:59Speaker 5: on the Alex Bregman. I guess it was on the
- 10:02Speaker 5: Red Sox last year. Probably make sure the Red Sox
- 10:07Speaker 5: lock in your tips, because any team that Alex Bregman's
- 10:10Speaker 5: on is really good at reading tips. Let's put it
- 10:13Speaker 5: that way.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Doesn't matter.
- 10:17Speaker 2: I mean, for sale, good luck to you.
- 10:20Speaker 1: You can read tip.
- 10:21Speaker 2: But the guy's got a tip too right, Like, you've got.
- 10:25Speaker 3: To Turner Have you seen his numbers at Turner Field
- 10:28Speaker 3: since he's been coming Brave, He's crazy. It's like seventeen
- 10:31Speaker 3: and two or something like.
- 10:35Speaker 5: People want people want to know the difference between a
- 10:37Speaker 5: number one and an ace his runners in scoring position.
- 10:40Speaker 5: I think he's given up two hits this year. Like
- 10:42Speaker 5: he doesn't even pitch his best stuff until like there's
- 10:45Speaker 5: traffic and then it's like, see you.
- 10:48Speaker 1: So go get a ticket tonight. Okay, green is good,
- 10:50Speaker 1: red is bad. When you're on the app, they make
- 10:52Speaker 1: it so easy for you.

- 11:03Speaker 2: to your accounts so.
- 11:03Speaker 1: You can use it later.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Charge out.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Show Hey Otani helping the Dodgers get out of the
- 11:13Speaker 2: doldrums of a four game losing skid.
- 11:15Speaker 1: What did we think yesterday?
- 11:17Speaker 2: Aj of Otani's seven shutout innings and the fact that
- 11:20Speaker 2: he continues to keep up as one of the best starters,
- 11:23Speaker 2: if not the best start in the game.
- 11:24Speaker 1: And.
- 11:27Speaker 3: Uh, I think it's great. I think he's I think
- 11:29Speaker 3: he's legit. I mean, I think he wants to win
- 11:32Speaker 3: a Cy young and I think a lot of his
- 11:34Speaker 3: focus has been on that this year. And I think
- 11:36Speaker 3: we've talked about he's he's taken away from his hitting
- 11:38Speaker 3: a little bit. Now he's got to have today off, right,
- 11:40Speaker 3: didn't They say they're giving him today off from hitting
- 11:43Speaker 3: because he pitched yesterday. So that's going to take a
- 11:45Speaker 3: little bit of the focus off his hitting. But I
- 11:47Speaker 3: think he's nasty. But I also think it's uh, you know,
- 11:51Speaker 3: taken away from his hitting a little bit, like I said,
- 11:53Speaker 3: and he's going to have to he's I think he's
- 11:54Speaker 3: getting today off. He got he didn't hit yesterday, and
- 11:56Speaker 3: Dave Robertson he's getting him today off. So it's definitely
- 11:58Speaker 3: gonna take away from his hitting. But he's pitching and
- 12:00Speaker 3: he wants at so young and right now he's in
- 12:02Speaker 3: line to get it. I still think he's I still
- 12:04Speaker 3: think Paul Skens is the guy to beat. But we'll
- 12:05Speaker 3: see if a Tony can keep this up for a
- 12:07Speaker 3: whole year.
- 12:08Speaker 5: I mean, I feel like somebody that can just turn
- 12:11Speaker 5: it on when he's not pitching and hit fifty five
- 12:14Speaker 5: homers and steal fifty bases like he's like, oh, well
- 12:18Speaker 5: that's something that happens. Okay, well I'll go do that. Oh,
- 12:21Speaker 5: Cy Young, I don't have many more years left on this,
- 12:24Speaker 5: on this UCL or new cadaver UCL. We don't know
- 12:29Speaker 5: what it was, but I get it. My pitching career
- 12:32Speaker 5: might be four years starting last year. So now I'm
- 12:37Speaker 5: in three years left and he's pushing at it. I
- 12:40Speaker 5: have zero doubt he can win a Say Young, zero doubt.
- 12:44Speaker 5: But I also love that Dave Roberts is willing to say,
- 12:49Speaker 5: you don't have to pitch. I mean, you don't have
- 12:51Speaker 5: to you don't have to hit and pitch right now.
- 12:53Speaker 5: We want to keep you healthy. We want to and
- 12:56Speaker 5: I think because I've seen Dave Roberts say on multiple
- 12:58Speaker 5: occasions that show Hey wants to win a Cy Young,
- 13:02Speaker 5: or he thinks show Hey wants to win a Sy Young,
- 13:05Speaker 5: they're clearly catering to that. They're clearly saying, we don't
- 13:09Speaker 5: need you in the lineup, even though our team is struggling.
- 13:12Speaker 5: When you don't hit to score runs, We're gonna be
- 13:15Speaker 5: fine if you want to win the cy Young Great.
- 13:19Speaker 5: The ultimate question will be as the season rolls on,
- 13:22Speaker 5: if he continues at this historic pace, which I think
- 13:25Speaker 5: he can do, how low does his hitting need to
- 13:29Speaker 5: get this year while he's on this historic pace where
- 13:33Speaker 5: these two days off of hitting are going to maybe
- 13:37Speaker 5: stretch out to three or is it going to take
- 13:40Speaker 5: away from his MVP type of season if he doesn't
- 13:44Speaker 5: get enough hits. That will be the question that will
- 13:48Speaker 5: ultimately go side by side with wow, how can a
- 13:51Speaker 5: hitter who has hit fifty five home runs in the
- 13:53Speaker 5: season before win the Cy Young? Just two years later?
- 13:57Speaker 2: One year later, we went over this too on fair
- 14:01Speaker 2: territory the competition so right now, and I'm sure we're
- 14:05Speaker 2: missing a couple of others, but we are just going
- 14:07Speaker 2: over Skins.
- 14:08Speaker 1: And the Misu.
- 14:10Speaker 2: They're going to have the innings pitched advantage right now,
- 14:13Speaker 2: it's not that large, but it'll get larger as the
- 14:15Speaker 2: year continues.
- 14:16Speaker 1: That's one component.
- 14:17Speaker 2: You know what else is interesting, Aja, if you look
- 14:19Speaker 2: at Skeins and mis right now, they're like once fifty ones,
- 14:21Speaker 2: like fifty one innings, they're very close, okay, and Skeins
- 14:23Speaker 2: will probably surpass him, and Skeins can strike out the world.
- 14:26Speaker 2: I think he's figured out how to be as economical
- 14:29Speaker 2: as possible so that he can go deep into outings.
- 14:31Speaker 1: He wants to go eight or nine every time.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Missus eighty ks in a similar number of innings as
- 14:37Speaker 2: schemes who has I think like fifty ish, right, so
- 14:41Speaker 2: one per Yeah, he's right at one per. Voters care
- 14:44Speaker 2: about that. Let's not talk about our opinion on it.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Voters care, right. We know that strikeouts have I need
- 14:49Speaker 1: to see one.
- 14:51Speaker 3: I need to see mis go through a whole year,
- 14:53Speaker 3: though he hasn't made a whole year without getting injured yet.
- 14:56Speaker 3: That's the one concern. We've seen schemes do it twice.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Now I worry about miz not making it through a year,
- 15:01Speaker 3: and he already had some cramping issues last night. And
- 15:04Speaker 3: then the other thing is I don't think Otani's gonna
- 15:06Speaker 3: have enough innings. I know the innings are down, but
- 15:09Speaker 3: they're going to protect this guy like nobody's business. And
- 15:11Speaker 3: I just don't know if he's if he's going to
- 15:13Speaker 3: get more than one hundred and thirty to one hundred
- 15:15Speaker 3: and thirty five innings. I think they're gonna as long
- 15:18Speaker 3: as they're where they want to be. In the playoff race.
- 15:20Speaker 3: I think they're going to keep him down and go
- 15:21Speaker 3: from there. But I mean I think Schemes is going
- 15:24Speaker 3: to continue to run. I mean, he's gonna one nine
- 15:25Speaker 3: to eighty ra. It's like he's he had one bad outing.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Other than that, he's been unbelievably good.
- 15:30Speaker 2: And I do want to just you know, prevent the trolls.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Miss last year came up what in like May or
- 15:37Speaker 2: whatever it.
- 15:38Speaker 5: Was before the All Star Game.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, right before the All Star Games.
- 15:41Speaker 2: It was a June whatever it was. So this is
- 15:43Speaker 2: his first full season. What AJ means is I mean
- 15:45Speaker 2: he came up what last year at twenty four years old.
- 15:47Speaker 2: He's had some injuries in the minors. They they really
- 15:50Speaker 2: kind of slow played it with him in general. That
- 15:51Speaker 2: were control issues. So that's what he means is can
- 15:54Speaker 2: he put a full season together now that he's got
- 15:56Speaker 2: got injury?
- 15:57Speaker 3: Are they going to throw he got injured, He missed
- 15:58Speaker 3: time with on the injury. Remember he hurt himself last
- 16:01Speaker 3: year and again he started cramping his last night, right,
- 16:04Speaker 3: I mean cramping. Although it was kind of funny how
- 16:06Speaker 3: they were laughing about it. Although you know, he went
- 16:08Speaker 3: out there and then they I don't know, but it
- 16:11Speaker 3: was and were joking about it.
- 16:14Speaker 5: If you watch the video, you can actually see it
- 16:16Speaker 5: when he throws the pitch and he smiles and he
- 16:18Speaker 5: turns around and you can see his quad. Is like York.
- 16:22Speaker 5: His pants are tight enough that you can see his quad.
- 16:25Speaker 5: But there's so many things that for me. First of all,
- 16:28Speaker 5: who do you guys think right now? Is the cy
- 16:30Speaker 5: young who would win the SAIM if it ended today?
- 16:34Speaker 1: Otani?
- 16:37Speaker 5: Agent?
- 16:39Speaker 3: I would say Tani at the moment, but I got
- 16:42Speaker 3: four more months to go.
- 16:43Speaker 5: So then what AJ?
- 16:44Speaker 3: So?
- 16:45Speaker 5: Then what AJ? Brought up? The innings? Where is that
- 16:48Speaker 5: inning's limit? The most recent everybody's going to go back
- 16:51Speaker 5: to I went back to before Corbin Burns.
- 16:54Speaker 3: What is that inning's limit?
- 16:55Speaker 5: If Otani continues to be as dominant, if he has
- 16:58Speaker 5: a historic season in a hundred, you know he's got
- 17:01Speaker 5: like a one point two e RA, what is his it? What?
- 17:05Speaker 5: What are his inning limit? Where he if he doesn't
- 17:08Speaker 5: reach one forty, nobody can even consider him. Where is
- 17:12Speaker 5: that at?
- 17:12Speaker 2: Yeah, but he's going to reach that, right because he's
- 17:15Speaker 2: already in the low forties. So even if they scale
- 17:19Speaker 2: it back a little bit, right because he's on pace
- 17:21Speaker 2: for like one seventy. That's not going to get to
- 17:23Speaker 2: one seventy. But is he going to I think that
- 17:25Speaker 2: he can get to one forty one fifty, that's probably
- 17:29Speaker 2: the max there, but that place to what you're talking
- 17:31Speaker 2: about with Burns. Burns was at one sixty something, Zach
- 17:34Speaker 2: Wheeler was almost fifty innings above him and Burns one.
- 17:38Speaker 2: So to answer your question, Yeah, if Otani's rocking a
- 17:41Speaker 2: one two era and Skiing stays on his career pace
- 17:46Speaker 2: of like one nine to eight, I think that Otani's
- 17:48Speaker 2: going to win it, you know, with the innings pitch differential.
- 17:50Speaker 1: But.
- 17:53Speaker 3: Doesn't get above one fifty. What did yeah Burns have one?
- 17:57Speaker 3: What did Burns have the year.
- 17:58Speaker 1: One sixty something?
- 18:00Speaker 5: I don't think it. I don't think.
- 18:02Speaker 3: I don't think. If Otani doesn't get to one to fifty,
- 18:04Speaker 3: I don't know that he's gonna win. I don't know
- 18:06Speaker 3: that voters will give him enough credit. That's the one
- 18:09Speaker 3: worry I have.
- 18:11Speaker 5: And here's my thing too, is obviously the Dodgers are
- 18:13Speaker 5: scuffling right now, but if they say it was one
- 18:16Speaker 5: sixty seven, you're right, Scott one sixty seven, two hundred
- 18:19Speaker 5: and thirty four strikeouts. But the Dodgers are going to
- 18:24Speaker 5: turn it around. They're gonna start running away with the West.
- 18:27Speaker 5: But they're not going to say, oh, we got to
- 18:30Speaker 5: push it. Paul Skeens is gonna pitch every five days,
- 18:33Speaker 5: so his innings, he might have sixty more innings than show. Hey,
- 18:39Speaker 5: he might have if if the Miz goes on the
- 18:42Speaker 5: IL for a certain thing, because the Brewers are gonna
- 18:45Speaker 5: need every one of the Miz starts that he can give.
- 18:49Speaker 5: If the Miz goes on the IL, and let's say
- 18:51Speaker 5: he has thirty less innings but he has fifty more
- 18:55Speaker 5: strikeouts than Schemes, there's a lot of what ifs. But
- 18:58Speaker 5: what are the voters really going to go go to?
- 19:01Speaker 5: I mean, he's got twenty four more punch outs at
- 19:04Speaker 5: this point in the season. So if you just extrapolated
- 19:07Speaker 5: out and the Miz has seventy five more strikeouts than
- 19:11Speaker 5: Paul Skins, it's not like the Miss is seventy five
- 19:13Speaker 5: more strikeouts than like a middle tier pitcher. If he
- 19:17Speaker 5: has that many more strikeouts and Paul Skins, he's gonna
- 19:21Speaker 5: win it, because Andrew, the voters love some punch outs.
- 19:24Speaker 1: They do.
- 19:25Speaker 2: They love them, and the rate stats and some of
- 19:27Speaker 2: the cooked up advanced stats love them, so.
- 19:30Speaker 1: That will be a factor if he stays healthy. So
- 19:32Speaker 1: we're early.
- 19:33Speaker 3: What about Mason Miller? Can we throw Mason Miller in
- 19:36Speaker 3: this conversation or no? Is that impossibly because he's a reliever.
- 19:40Speaker 3: I mean his numbers, if you extrapolated his numbers out,
- 19:42Speaker 3: he's blowing them all away. So what can we not?
- 19:44Speaker 3: Can we not include Mason Miller in this threesome? Or
- 19:47Speaker 3: is it just these three because they're starters.
- 19:49Speaker 2: If guys like this fall off right, one gets hurt,
- 19:51Speaker 2: one gets scaled back, like whatever, if stuff happens, then yes,
- 19:54Speaker 2: But I just think for a closure to win, I
- 19:56Speaker 2: know we talked about this a few weeks ago. I
- 19:57Speaker 2: think it has to be this perfect storm of Miller
- 19:59Speaker 2: doing what he's doing. I'm I'm confident in that, but
- 20:01Speaker 2: also like there has to be this lack of competition,
- 20:05Speaker 2: not that there's nobody, but that there's not somebody that's
- 20:07Speaker 2: riding a two we ra And I.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Just wasn't it two years ago when Class A had
- 20:13Speaker 3: that unbelievable season and he finished in the top three.
- 20:16Speaker 3: I believe.
- 20:19Speaker 1: He might Hey, this one sucks.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Isaac Azud, who works for fish On First, which is
- 20:25Speaker 2: part of the Ft Network, reporting yesterday about Robbie Snelling.
- 20:29Speaker 2: So he's on the il a UCL sprain in his
- 20:32Speaker 2: left elbow.
- 20:33Speaker 1: That's not good news.
- 20:34Speaker 2: That usually leads to worst news, and Braxton Garrett is
- 20:37Speaker 2: up to make the start tonight. This tweet that you're
- 20:40Speaker 2: looking at was from yesterday, but a j you know,
- 20:42Speaker 2: we joke about the quote depth that the Marlins have.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Snelling was a big part of it.
- 20:46Speaker 2: In the miners, Thomas White's a big deal prospect like
- 20:49Speaker 2: Snelling just came up. They were hoping that he was
- 20:51Speaker 2: going to be a huge part of the rotation this year.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Impact now, and this is how quickly things can change.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Yeah, just stink. Let's think about the young man first
- 20:59Speaker 3: of one. Let's think about Snelling first and being heard
- 21:01Speaker 3: after one big league start. That's awful. And then for
- 21:05Speaker 3: the Marlins, yeah, this was a big piece they were
- 21:07Speaker 3: counting on, Like you mentioned, with Sandy and Perez and
- 21:11Speaker 3: Admire and then Snelling and Junk or whoever you know,
- 21:15Speaker 3: whoever else they're going to use this year. These were
- 21:16Speaker 3: big parts and they were hoping to use to compete
- 21:18Speaker 3: so's it's a set more sad for Snelling than it
- 21:22Speaker 3: is for the Marlins. The Marlins will go on, but
- 21:24Speaker 3: you know, you never want to see a guy have
- 21:25Speaker 3: one start and then have uc L spring because that
- 21:27Speaker 3: usually leads to the next thing, which is missing over
- 21:30Speaker 3: a year with Tommy John. So let's open and pray
- 21:33Speaker 3: that that's not the case. But yeah, this this stinks
- 21:35Speaker 3: for both sides, but mostly for Snelling.
- 21:38Speaker 5: Yeah, especially for a young guy like this just getting
- 21:41Speaker 5: called up. Obviously. I mean we joke about the fact
- 21:44Speaker 5: that the Marlins have such depth in their pitching. These
- 21:47Speaker 5: are the things that happened. I remember when aj Hinch
- 21:51Speaker 5: got the job with the Tigers and he was talking
- 21:54Speaker 5: about He's like, oh, we have these three guys coming up,
- 21:57Speaker 5: and I forget exactly who everybody was. I know was
- 22:00Speaker 5: one of them. I think Job was one of them too,
- 22:03Speaker 5: And he was like, you know what, how many of
- 22:06Speaker 5: these guys all make it at the same time, all
- 22:08Speaker 5: develop at the same time, all are healthy at the
- 22:10Speaker 5: same time. That's why when teams have healthy pitchers, young pitchers,
- 22:15Speaker 5: it's time to push all in kind of like what
- 22:17Speaker 5: the Pirates did. Kind of like Pirate push all in
- 22:20Speaker 5: more than anything. But it sucks for snowing.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I got what you're saying, Like diet push all in,
- 22:26Speaker 2: a little bit of.
- 22:27Speaker 5: Push Yeah, like a like a coupon push all.
- 22:30Speaker 2: It The key for some teams that go through this
- 22:34Speaker 2: cycle a lot, like the Marlins, is can you align
- 22:37Speaker 2: everything at the same time. Can you align the way
- 22:40Speaker 2: that pitching progresses and the position players progress right? Sometimes
- 22:43Speaker 2: we see that with teams where it's like, Oh, they've
- 22:45Speaker 2: got the pitching right now, but they don't.
- 22:47Speaker 3: They still have to go but they still have to
- 22:49Speaker 3: go out and supplement it. Scott. That's the thing that
- 22:52Speaker 3: the Pirates.
- 22:55Speaker 2: No team doesn't have good young and good veteran players
- 22:57Speaker 2: that win the World Series.
- 22:58Speaker 1: It never happens.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Hey, here's a quote from Lance mccullor's junior on reaching
- 23:05Speaker 2: nine hundred career strikeouts in yesterday's game. He said, all honesty,
- 23:08Speaker 2: it makes me a little sad, like maybe what could
- 23:10Speaker 2: have been without the injuries and stuff, But it's just
- 23:12Speaker 2: part of my journey, part of my story. He struck
- 23:14Speaker 2: the guy out, and Vazquez was asking for new ball,
- 23:17Speaker 2: and I said, nah, I like that ball.
- 23:18Speaker 1: That's a punchy ball. Throw that back here.
- 23:21Speaker 2: He told me after the ending, cool to get there
- 23:23Speaker 2: and hopefully have a good, healthy year, start putting some
- 23:25Speaker 2: good starts together, and maybe make a run at one
- 23:27Speaker 2: thousand career strikeouts.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a tough one, AJ, I mean, he was
- 23:32Speaker 1: a big deal.
- 23:32Speaker 3: Couldn't you get to a thousand this year if he
- 23:34Speaker 3: stays healthy. I mean, he's got almost what four months left?
- 23:38Speaker 3: If he has twenty more starts, shouldn't he get close
- 23:40Speaker 3: to one thousand this year if he could stay healthy.
- 23:43Speaker 3: I mean it's weird for hear him say hopefully make
- 23:45Speaker 3: a run. I mean should be like, yeah, to get
- 23:47Speaker 3: to a thousand, I mean.
- 23:49Speaker 5: That's it. I would Ever since we started this, ever
- 23:52Speaker 5: since we started the show, he's been hurt, and I've
- 23:55Speaker 5: been texting him in different ways, and I mean, if
- 23:58Speaker 5: I would go through like the different that we've gone through,
- 24:01Speaker 5: Like it feels like you can read how his just
- 24:07Speaker 5: his psyche, not that he's beaten down by injuries, but
- 24:10Speaker 5: that he's like realistic that this is not necessary, Like
- 24:15Speaker 5: being healthy and having forty innings right now at this
- 24:18Speaker 5: point in the season is not the norm for him
- 24:21Speaker 5: in the last few years. So I think he's being
- 24:23Speaker 5: realistic with what he's saying that he doesn't know if
- 24:26Speaker 5: he'll get one hundred more strikeouts this year. Do we
- 24:28Speaker 5: think he should? Absolutely, he's have forty three and forty innings.
- 24:31Speaker 5: But he's also like, well, you know what I've thrown
- 24:35Speaker 5: since twenty twenty two, I've thrown one hundred innings. Nope,
- 24:41Speaker 5: fifty yes, ninety five innings ninety five point two innings.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Since forty years too.
- 24:48Speaker 5: So he's like, he's like, I don't know. So I
- 24:52Speaker 5: like that he's being honest about it.
- 24:55Speaker 2: I mean, that's twenty five innings a year on average,
- 24:57Speaker 2: so it's much less than Yes the goal of course,
- 25:00Speaker 2: AJ that should be the goal for him. But if
- 25:03Speaker 2: we told you at the end of the year that
- 25:05Speaker 2: Lance mccullors Junior made like twenty five plus starts, I
- 25:09Speaker 2: think most people would be shocked, just based on what
- 25:11Speaker 2: he went through recently.
- 25:13Speaker 5: It's not even up to us. I think he would
- 25:15Speaker 5: be almost shocked, Like, it's not up to us to like,
- 25:19Speaker 5: judg ah, wow, we're so amazed that he stayed healthy.
- 25:22Speaker 5: I think he's even sitting there going wow, I would
- 25:26Speaker 5: be surprised.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Hey, Derek Shelton made it official that Zebbie Matthews is
- 25:31Speaker 2: starting today Thursday against the Marlins. Also this morning, the
- 25:36Speaker 2: team optioned Matt Walner, who had been struggling this year.
- 25:39Speaker 1: So some little Twins.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Moves by the way, aj Byron Buckston's quietly having a
- 25:45Speaker 2: really good year. He's playing and he's bashing homers.
- 25:49Speaker 3: He's having a great year. I mean, anytime listen, anytime
- 25:52Speaker 3: Byron Buckson can be on the field, He's been really good.
- 25:55Speaker 3: It's just been a question of him stained on the field.
- 25:57Speaker 3: But this year he's been healthy. He's playing a good
- 25:59Speaker 3: center field and he is mashing. He's got the buck trip.
- 26:01Speaker 5: On and last year and last year sparks the debate again.
- 26:06Speaker 5: If he's hitting like he's hitting now, makes the All
- 26:08Speaker 5: Star team, sparks the debate. Does he walk back what
- 26:12Speaker 5: he said he wants to stay in Minnesota? That's it.
- 26:15Speaker 5: I mean, obviously it's going to come up. Who couldn't
- 26:18Speaker 5: use that in center field? Because he's shown the last
- 26:22Speaker 5: year change now that he's healthy.
- 26:28Speaker 2: It's a tough one when you see where the Twins
- 26:31Speaker 2: are going right now.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Might have to wait a bit.
- 26:34Speaker 5: You know, if you're this is probably this is probably
- 26:37Speaker 5: not a good short segment question, but AJ you did
- 26:41Speaker 5: you ever play on a bad team that you were like, man,
- 26:44Speaker 5: I'm doing really good. I want to stay. I guess
- 26:46Speaker 5: maybe your braves here when you're MVP, you wanted to
- 26:49Speaker 5: come back.
- 26:50Speaker 3: They told me they asked me if I would be
- 26:52Speaker 3: traded and I said yeah, as long as it's not
- 26:53Speaker 3: to Seattle. And then I found out that they were
- 26:56Speaker 3: trying to trade me to Seattle, and so Dods went on.
- 26:59Speaker 1: That on that story is so good. We're like, yeah,
- 27:04Speaker 1: it's cool, as long as it's not.
- 27:05Speaker 3: So I was the Britz Carlton and keep his skin.
- 27:08Speaker 3: I neverget. John Hart came up to me at the
- 27:10Speaker 3: pool said, hey, you know it's it's about It was
- 27:13Speaker 3: May too. It was pretty early. He goes, you know,
- 27:16Speaker 3: we just want to know would you would you be trade?
- 27:18Speaker 3: Would you be willing to get traded? And I was like, sure, John,
- 27:21Speaker 3: as long as it's not the Seattle. And then I
- 27:23Speaker 3: found out that they were trying to trade into Seattle
- 27:26Speaker 3: because Zanino Mikes Zanino. At the time, they wanted me
- 27:28Speaker 3: to kind of mentor Mike Zanino.
- 27:29Speaker 5: So they were like, yeah, I was.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Dodge a bullet on that one.
- 27:36Speaker 5: Orlando native going to Seattle, Washington. Not a lot of
- 27:41Speaker 5: quick flights.
- 27:44Speaker 2: No, that's Siberia for a J. Right, And hey, it's
- 27:49Speaker 2: nothing against the city a J loves it.
- 27:50Speaker 3: It's just I love Seattle. First of all, I love Seattle. Yeah,
- 27:55Speaker 3: I love Seattle. You talk, I love Seattle. And but no,
- 27:59Speaker 3: but at the time I kids rolled, they have to
- 28:01Speaker 3: travel and live out there.
- 28:02Speaker 1: No, thank you, Kratz. Big run for the Phillies right now.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Hammer Territory pointing this out to take a shot at them,
- 28:13Speaker 2: Steven saying Phillies have gone eleven and four over.
- 28:16Speaker 1: The last fifteen games and picked up.
- 28:18Speaker 2: All of zero point five games in the standings entering
- 28:22Speaker 2: Thursday's play ten and a half games back and now
- 28:25Speaker 2: ten games back. Really just plays to how good the
- 28:29Speaker 2: Braves have been against some good competition too.
- 28:33Speaker 5: That's what I was going to. I mean, we've hit
- 28:35Speaker 5: on the last few days about the Phillies have not
- 28:38Speaker 5: played the best teams, and so I was pulling up
- 28:41Speaker 5: I was pulling up the Rockies last few games. Yes,
- 28:44Speaker 5: I get it, they played the Rocky I mean the
- 28:46Speaker 5: Braves last few games. Yes, they played the Rockies, but
- 28:50Speaker 5: they took two from the Dodgers. They've taken two from
- 28:52Speaker 5: the scorching Cubs. They've played the Mariners. I guess that
- 28:56Speaker 5: was their first series loss of the year. But you're
- 28:58Speaker 5: talking about two teams played completely different schedules. The Phillies
- 29:03Speaker 5: who good, they've turned it around, and the Braves are like, cool,
- 29:07Speaker 5: we'll just play a bunch of tough teams and we'll
- 29:10Speaker 5: continue to not let you catch any gain any ground.
- 29:14Speaker 5: Something catastrophic. I know we had hey sus on before,
- 29:17Speaker 5: but catastrophic has to happen for the Braves to lose
- 29:20Speaker 5: this lead. And people say, well, what about this time
- 29:23Speaker 5: back in ninety eight and then in twenty twelve. I
- 29:27Speaker 5: get it. Teams can collapse, Teams can make moves of
- 29:30Speaker 5: trade deadlines and they still collapse. But this team's hitting
- 29:33Speaker 5: on all cylinders. And they've with standard injuries too. It's
- 29:37Speaker 5: not like they've just played twenty six guys the whole season.
- 29:41Speaker 1: They're on pace for one hundred and thirteen wins.
- 29:42Speaker 5: A JH.
- 29:45Speaker 3: That's not going to happen, but I know they're still
- 29:47Speaker 3: really good.
- 29:50Speaker 1: I don't think they should win one hundred.
- 29:53Speaker 5: I take the under, really, I'll take all because one
- 29:57Speaker 5: hundred is so many it's so tough to do. I
- 30:00Speaker 5: don't know, maybe AG disagrees, but one hundreds so many wins,
- 30:05Speaker 5: especially in this day and age.
- 30:09Speaker 3: I think I think they can get to a hundred.
- 30:10Speaker 3: I don't think they're going to get to a hundred thirteen,
- 30:12Speaker 3: but I think they can get to a hundred, especially
- 30:14Speaker 3: if the rest of the division stays down like the
- 30:16Speaker 3: Mets and some of the other teams have. I think
- 30:19Speaker 3: that's that's the key to winning one hundred is being
- 30:21Speaker 3: in a bad division.
- 30:25Speaker 1: And they're going to add at the trade deadline.
- 30:29Speaker 2: They've even publicly said this because they're the public you know,
- 30:33Speaker 2: traded team. How they've got, you know, money to spend
- 30:36Speaker 2: at the trade deadline, stuff like that, so they will
- 30:39Speaker 2: they'll go after arms. Injuries suck aj. I think I
- 30:47Speaker 2: know why Cayle Raley doesn't look the same. Here's one
- 30:49Speaker 2: reason that contributes to it. He's got a strain in
- 30:53Speaker 2: his right oblique. He's missed time for that right side,
- 30:56Speaker 2: and then it really started to unravel for him on
- 30:59Speaker 2: the field, like I mean, just grimacing, showing favoritism to
- 31:05Speaker 2: that side, not throwing on that double play attempt, and
- 31:07Speaker 2: then the.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Mariners are going to sit him for a little bit here.
- 31:10Speaker 2: For the first time in his career, he's been super
- 31:12Speaker 2: durable and he wants to catch every day. You of
- 31:15Speaker 2: almost anyone on the planet can relate to this situation
- 31:18Speaker 2: and how hard it is for him to take a break.
- 31:21Speaker 3: Yeah, and I went through this too. I strained my
- 31:24Speaker 3: oblique once and I tried to play through it. I
- 31:28Speaker 3: made it a few games until finally I had a
- 31:30Speaker 3: game again when I was with the Rangers, and I
- 31:32Speaker 3: went up and we played the Red Sox and I
- 31:35Speaker 3: struck out four times and I couldn't swing, and they
- 31:38Speaker 3: are hitting. Coach Dave Maganan's like, what the heck's wrong
- 31:39Speaker 3: with you? I'm like, dude, you know my side's been hurting,
- 31:41Speaker 3: but I can't swing. And they ended up putting me
- 31:44Speaker 3: on the d L at the time the next day
- 31:47Speaker 3: after getting an MRI and realizing how bad it was.
- 31:50Speaker 3: So you can try to play through this, but especially
- 31:52Speaker 3: for me being a left hand hitter and it was
- 31:54Speaker 3: my right side, it's not easy to do and it
- 31:58Speaker 3: affects everything you do. Yes, you could, I probably have
- 32:00Speaker 3: caught with it, yes, but it wasn't comfortable. You couldn't run.
- 32:03Speaker 3: You couldn't. Really. It's hard to breathe, it's hard to eat,
- 32:05Speaker 3: it's hard to laugh, it's hard to do a lot
- 32:07Speaker 3: of things. And for I understand why Cal tried to
- 32:10Speaker 3: get through this, and this is he will not use
- 32:13Speaker 3: this as an excuse for why he went over thirty six,
- 32:15Speaker 3: But trying to play through this as next to impossible.
- 32:17Speaker 3: I don't think unless you've done this in your life,
- 32:20Speaker 3: you don't understand how hard it is to to try
- 32:23Speaker 3: to play through an oblique injury because it affects every
- 32:27Speaker 3: part of your life.
- 32:31Speaker 5: Yeah. I never had no bleaque injury. I just tweaked
- 32:35Speaker 5: my like rib, But like Cal, got three days off
- 32:39Speaker 5: that was consistent for my career. So I got to,
- 32:43Speaker 5: you know, I got to kind of play not play
- 32:47Speaker 5: through it, and just rest it and not take as
- 32:49Speaker 5: many swings, and it eventually healed. But when you're playing
- 32:53Speaker 5: every day, the wear and tear just even not even
- 32:57Speaker 5: as a catcher, but the wear and tear just in
- 32:59Speaker 5: general swing.
- 33:01Speaker 3: I don't know how.
- 33:02Speaker 5: I don't know how guys do it, especially a guy
- 33:05Speaker 5: that's going to swing from both sides of the plate.
- 33:07Speaker 5: Hopefully he comes back and he's one hundred percent healthy.
- 33:11Speaker 5: Because the biggest thing everybody says, don't push it with
- 33:14Speaker 5: obliques or else they never get better. Well, he pushed
- 33:17Speaker 5: it for a long time. Did he have it the
- 33:19Speaker 5: entire oh for thirty six slump only he can tell us.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Got a one sixty one average and a five sixty ops.
- 33:30Speaker 2: We went over slow starters the other day and he
- 33:32Speaker 2: was one of the headliners. But this is always the
- 33:36Speaker 2: part of the conversation that we don't have a lot
- 33:38Speaker 2: of information on. Now we have a little bit more
- 33:40Speaker 2: because we know that he has a legit injury. We
- 33:42Speaker 2: don't know how long it's been. But the timing for
- 33:46Speaker 2: the lineup at least helps that Brendan Donovan is back
- 33:50Speaker 2: for this team.
- 33:51Speaker 1: That's a plus for.
- 33:52Speaker 2: Them, right, You're going to get more Donovan, who is
- 33:55Speaker 2: a big offseason acquisition, and spend some time on the shelf.
- 33:58Speaker 2: He's got an OPS that's north of eight hundred. In fact,
- 34:02Speaker 2: I don't know if anybody else is really balling besides him,
- 34:05Speaker 2: and I guess, and yeah, he's got a seven to
- 34:10Speaker 2: seventy three. I mean, it's better than he normally puts together.
- 34:13Speaker 2: But I mean he's not like going off yet. That's
- 34:16Speaker 2: us he's reserved for the second half.
- 34:19Speaker 5: Yeah, this is going off for May. True, I mean,
- 34:22Speaker 5: refuse to lose territory. He hit it on farcus, hitting
- 34:26Speaker 5: on it really well. He was like he went through
- 34:30Speaker 5: May of his last four seasons, I guess, or three seasons.
- 34:33Speaker 5: I think he went through and I mean his numbers
- 34:36Speaker 5: in May are astronomical, So maybe that's good to me.
- 34:40Speaker 5: That's the ultimately what has to happen. We talk about
- 34:45Speaker 5: injuries all the time. Teams have to play the next day.
- 34:49Speaker 5: Cal Raley's out. Cal Raley, their MVP last year is out.
- 34:55Speaker 5: That's it. He's not going to hit forty home runs
- 34:57Speaker 5: until he comes back. He is out. Who steps up?
- 35:01Speaker 5: And to me, I think, yes, offensively, that's a huge,
- 35:04Speaker 5: huge loss, even though he hasn't been doing much right now.
- 35:07Speaker 5: I think he's that aircraft carrier in that lineup where
- 35:10Speaker 5: people are afraid of him because he one swing? Can
- 35:13Speaker 5: you put three on the board. To me, it's behind
- 35:16Speaker 5: the dish. How they mitigate that, how they go through
- 35:21Speaker 5: this time, if it's fifteen days or forty five days,
- 35:24Speaker 5: how they get through it. He is a huge, huge
- 35:27Speaker 5: piece behind the dish. Not taking anything away from Mitch
- 35:31Speaker 5: Garver or who else is there?
- 35:33Speaker 2: Is?
- 35:33Speaker 5: Elias Diaz is there? Oh well John, he's in, Uh yeah,
- 35:41Speaker 5: I guess right now on the.
- 35:43Speaker 2: Roster who I admittedly don't know a ton about, but
- 35:47Speaker 2: he's up so and and even just like to use
- 35:50Speaker 2: the Garber comp I mean, those two are very different
- 35:53Speaker 2: behind the plate.
- 35:55Speaker 5: And Mitch has to stay healthy. Mitch. Mitch came on
- 35:58Speaker 5: kind of as that, like, hey, it's okay, Hey, we
- 36:00Speaker 5: can have Mitch Garb there because Kyle Raley's gonna play
- 36:04Speaker 5: a j Perzinski esque hundred and thirty five to one
- 36:07Speaker 5: hundred and forty games, and Mitch's bat on the bench
- 36:11Speaker 5: plus d H plus being that backup catcher is good enough.
- 36:16Speaker 5: Like you can't you can't expect him to go and
- 36:18Speaker 5: play eighty games in a one hundred and twenty day stretch.
- 36:21Speaker 5: So it's really it's very important, very very important that
- 36:25Speaker 5: somebody is able to step up and be that guy
- 36:28Speaker 5: behind a dish for him.
- 36:31Speaker 3: By the way, because when we know what one of
- 36:32Speaker 3: these looks like, well.
- 36:36Speaker 5: You have checked this out, WHOA.
- 36:41Speaker 2: For the podcast crowd, we're looking at a shoe bredded oblique.
- 36:46Speaker 5: From you need you need to look it up for
- 36:49Speaker 5: the podcast crowd.
- 36:51Speaker 3: That's that's what a that's what a pulled oblique looks like.
- 36:55Speaker 3: By the way, that's when I did mine in twenty thirteen.
- 37:00Speaker 1: That looks crazy.
- 37:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I told you guys. It was when I went
- 37:04Speaker 3: to go my MRI. The doctor said it was the
- 37:06Speaker 3: worst one you'd ever seen. And so anyways I tried
- 37:10Speaker 3: to play with it wasn't happening.
- 37:13Speaker 5: This is this is something that I think people that
- 37:16Speaker 5: AJ probably won't say because he just lived it. He
- 37:19Speaker 5: came up through their white sox herm did not want
- 37:22Speaker 5: anybody to go in the IL. I think you guys like, like,
- 37:25Speaker 5: there's dudes that I've heard from that team that were like, ah, man,
- 37:29Speaker 5: I was playing through this or I was playing through that.
- 37:31Speaker 5: And I think the culture that you guys lived was like,
- 37:35Speaker 5: I'll play through this, I'll play through it. It doesn't
- 37:37Speaker 5: get that that black and blue from one swing, unless
- 37:41Speaker 5: I am completely wrong. It is from trying to do
- 37:46Speaker 5: it every single time, trying to trying to play through
- 37:49Speaker 5: it every single day, like and that's that's something I
- 37:52Speaker 5: don't think a lot of organizations do anymore. It's not like, hey,
- 37:56Speaker 5: you're going to play through this well, then what happens
- 37:58Speaker 5: to him not as good as I am? Well, you're
- 38:00Speaker 5: better than the other option that we have, And I
- 38:02Speaker 5: think that's what Cal may have been going through, Like
- 38:05Speaker 5: who else is going to step up and be what
- 38:07Speaker 5: I am behind the plate. I'm not saying he said that,
- 38:09Speaker 5: but it's just a for a guy that played as
- 38:12Speaker 5: long as Cal has and not been on the I L.
- 38:16Speaker 5: That's those are the things he's playing.
- 38:18Speaker 3: Through at first of all, I came up with the twins,
- 38:24Speaker 3: and the twins were you can't make the club and
- 38:26Speaker 3: the tub, so we never tried to go the io
- 38:28Speaker 3: in that was And then when he got to Herm,
- 38:31Speaker 3: Herm just wouldn't let you go on the deal. I
- 38:33Speaker 3: mean he would it would just not let you go
- 38:35Speaker 3: on the deal. I mean, listen, her Herm was one
- 38:37Speaker 3: of the best trainers of all time because he knew
- 38:44Speaker 3: how to get guys to stay on the field. Her
- 38:46Speaker 3: Herm's a legend for that. Hermstneinder, if you guys what
- 38:48Speaker 3: we're talking about, is an absolutely legend in the White
- 38:51Speaker 3: Sox because he had the fewest d L I L
- 38:53Speaker 3: days forever, every year and a year out. He had
- 38:56Speaker 3: a great arm program, He did a lot of things
- 39:00Speaker 3: physically to keep guys on the field. And he used
- 39:02Speaker 3: to laugh because I just wouldn't go in the training room.
- 39:04Speaker 3: But her was awesome. Her is still awesome, man. We
- 39:08Speaker 3: just we just had It was a different culture back then.
- 39:10Speaker 3: You didn't want to go on the DL. Everybody did
- 39:12Speaker 3: everything they could not to go on the deal.
- 39:15Speaker 5: Yep, yep. It's a best ability is availability.
- 39:21Speaker 2: Well, on that topic, another catcher who's going to be
- 39:23Speaker 2: down for a while. The Mets lost Francisco Alvarez meniscus
- 39:29Speaker 2: tear surgery.
- 39:32Speaker 1: Two months.
- 39:34Speaker 2: It's a while, two months, a full eight weeks, that
- 39:39Speaker 2: was the word this morning. They said the longer end
- 39:41Speaker 2: of the recovery timetable for this type of injury. So
- 39:44Speaker 2: that takes you into mid July for the Mets. It's
- 39:47Speaker 2: a good catcher, and for a team that has not
- 39:51Speaker 2: been able to hit much, he was one of the
- 39:54Speaker 2: better hitters of their group so far here and they're
- 39:59Speaker 2: officially missing half their lineup. AJ And I'll bring up
- 40:02Speaker 2: what I did to Ken on fair territory. Some of
- 40:05Speaker 2: this is their own doing. The roster construction we've made
- 40:08Speaker 2: fun of for players out of position, but the other
- 40:10Speaker 2: part of the equation is, let's again use this example
- 40:14Speaker 2: Brandon Nimo gon, Pete Alonzo gon.
- 40:17Speaker 5: Now.
- 40:17Speaker 2: I know Luis Robert was playing some center field, but
- 40:21Speaker 2: Luis Robert track record of health versus Brandon Nimo, no comparison, right,
- 40:26Speaker 2: Pete Alonzo track record of health versus Jorge Polanco, no comparison.
- 40:31Speaker 2: And Ken's words aj on the show with me or
- 40:34Speaker 2: that he feels as if some front offices undervalue that component. Now,
- 40:38Speaker 2: and I brought up like great stats and all of
- 40:40Speaker 2: these other things that the models say. They don't necessarily
- 40:43Speaker 2: factor in what the medicals look like for every player.
- 40:46Speaker 2: They factor in games played and all of that. But
- 40:49Speaker 2: it seems to be something that was overlooked by this team.
- 40:52Speaker 2: And now you get guys like Lindor going down, Alvarez
- 40:55Speaker 2: going down on top of the players who normally go
- 40:58Speaker 2: down like Robert and Panco and half their lineups out.
- 41:03Speaker 3: I've never seen this on anyone take a swing and
- 41:07Speaker 3: tear their meniscus by the way I've seen. I've seen
- 41:10Speaker 3: other guys heard it and doing other stuff, but I've
- 41:12Speaker 3: never actually seen a guy in a swing do this,
- 41:14Speaker 3: So it was odd. But I mean, yeah, the Mets.
- 41:16Speaker 3: The Mets have been beat up with Lindor Soto's miss time. Lindor,
- 41:21Speaker 3: some of the other guys you mentioned Scott that have
- 41:22Speaker 3: been traded away, Blanco's on the il for a long time. Uh,
- 41:27Speaker 3: it's just been it's just all gone wrong for the
- 41:29Speaker 3: Mets this year. That's the Mets. I always say this,
- 41:31Speaker 3: the Mets are gonna met and right now everything is meting.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:39Speaker 5: Sucks. There's value in pitchers who make their starts. There's
- 41:44Speaker 5: value in players who are available to play one hundred
- 41:47Speaker 5: and sixty two, not that they have to play one
- 41:49Speaker 5: hundred and sixty two, but are available to play.
- 41:54Speaker 2: They did some other updates too, so could I sang
- 41:57Speaker 2: it through a bullpen session yesterday, says his back feels good,
- 42:02Speaker 2: but he's working to get his pitch metrics where they
- 42:04Speaker 2: need to be.
- 42:05Speaker 1: Sounds like it'll still be a while. To my l
- 42:08Speaker 1: what that.
- 42:10Speaker 5: I don't Yeah, I'm not going to comment on what
- 42:12Speaker 5: you said because it happens. But the pitch metrics, like, hey,
- 42:17Speaker 5: I want you to get off the iPad, I want
- 42:19Speaker 5: you to get off the rap Soto the track man
- 42:22Speaker 5: and throw a few pitches here. Ooh, I don't know
- 42:25Speaker 5: it doesn't look like it's spinning very well. Shouldn't the
- 42:28Speaker 5: pitcher know that? Shouldn't the like what are they? What
- 42:31Speaker 5: are they looking for? Like to me, I just I
- 42:36Speaker 5: don't know. I guess I kind of have a problem
- 42:38Speaker 5: with it, Like you're expecting him to get to a
- 42:40Speaker 5: certain level, Like shouldn't he, as a veteran pitcher, know
- 42:44Speaker 5: where he's supposed to be and then say yes, I'm there?
- 42:48Speaker 5: Or are they kind of micromanaging it and saying, hey,
- 42:50Speaker 5: I need my pitch execution to be a certain place,
- 42:54Speaker 5: or you need we need this from you so that
- 42:56Speaker 5: you can get out there and be the best code
- 42:58Speaker 5: I singa that we want you to be.
- 43:04Speaker 1: It's not just Tim too.
- 43:07Speaker 2: The report this morning was that it's going to be
- 43:11Speaker 2: a while for Lindor. And this is playing to what
- 43:14Speaker 2: you said the other day, Jay, when you were with
- 43:16Speaker 2: the team and with Mendy, that it's going to be
- 43:18Speaker 2: a minute. So, I mean June was looked at as
- 43:21Speaker 2: the return. I don't know, maybe it might even be
- 43:23Speaker 2: longer than that. Cabs are tricky, as we always say.
- 43:26Speaker 2: And then you weren't on for this and I don't
- 43:28Speaker 2: even know if we brought it up, or if I
- 43:30Speaker 2: just sent the tweet in, But there was an update
- 43:31Speaker 2: on Luis Robert a couple of days ago where there
- 43:34Speaker 2: wasn't you know, great progress or timetables set there either.
- 43:38Speaker 2: So you know, sure you want to say we're piling
- 43:41Speaker 2: on here, but no, I mean, the injury list is
- 43:43Speaker 2: getting really long for a team that.
- 43:44Speaker 1: Was off to a slow start, so it's just tough
- 43:46Speaker 1: to overcome that.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Now you know, they're playing as we're doing this segment,
- 43:49Speaker 2: and a j Ewing hit his first homer. There's some
- 43:51Speaker 2: bright spots. Carson Benge walk off hit after the day
- 43:55Speaker 2: after that scores Ewing and the day after Ewing had
- 43:58Speaker 2: an awesome debut. There's there's some cool things going on
- 44:00Speaker 2: with the baby Mets. They're calling him. That's good. You
- 44:03Speaker 2: need that to stay afloat. But you're going to need
- 44:06Speaker 2: the big boys if they're going to make any type
- 44:08Speaker 2: of comeback. You're gonna need them back and you're gonna
- 44:10Speaker 2: need them thriving. And they just have a long list
- 44:14Speaker 2: that's piling up.
- 44:16Speaker 3: They do, they do, but I mean, Lindor's the one
- 44:20Speaker 3: on this list that hasn't had injuries in the past.
- 44:22Speaker 3: I mean, Luis Robert. We all knew was going to
- 44:24Speaker 3: go down at some point. I mean, he has a
- 44:26Speaker 3: long history. Sinka has been on the injured list for
- 44:28Speaker 3: a lot. Polanco's been hurt before. So it's not like
- 44:31Speaker 3: these guys are fresh freshly. You know they're fresh, and
- 44:35Speaker 3: they know we knew this wasn't gonna happen. I mean
- 44:37Speaker 3: a lot of these guys have had injuries in the past.
- 44:42Speaker 2: I'm with you last one because this one will get
- 44:46Speaker 2: dated at some point. Max Freed left the game left
- 44:50Speaker 2: elbow soreness. They're gonna check them out today, so we
- 44:54Speaker 2: should get word at some point today on what's going
- 44:56Speaker 2: on there. And just for the Yankees purpose here, Kratz,
- 45:00Speaker 2: you hope if you has to miss time, it's fine.
- 45:02Speaker 2: It's just a short time, short term thing because they
- 45:04Speaker 2: actually do have pitching depth. You just need Max Freed
- 45:08Speaker 2: for the for the good stretch run there. So if
- 45:11Speaker 2: he's got to miss a month or whatever, that's fine.
- 45:13Speaker 2: You just hope it's not any structural damage. He said,
- 45:15Speaker 2: I'm not too worried about a super long term thing.
- 45:17Speaker 2: If I can, I would love to be able to
- 45:18Speaker 2: make my next start.
- 45:19Speaker 1: But we'll see.
- 45:21Speaker 2: You can't take almost anything a player says until he
- 45:24Speaker 2: actually goes through the imaging and the testing.
- 45:27Speaker 5: Yeah, posterior elbow soreness. So I don't know if it's
- 45:30Speaker 5: like back here. My fear would be that it's like
- 45:34Speaker 5: up in here where I think they said Scoble was
- 45:40Speaker 5: having posterior elbow soreness and then they found a loose body.
- 45:45Speaker 5: Either way, exactly what you said. You want Max to
- 45:48Speaker 5: be back. You want Max to be back healthy and
- 45:52Speaker 5: being able to pitch to his value seventh inning and later,
- 45:57Speaker 5: not just oh okay, we'll get in here and let
- 45:59Speaker 5: them through. Like his value is being able to work
- 46:02Speaker 5: all one hundred to one hundred and ten pitches and
- 46:06Speaker 5: getting better as the game goes on, saving some pitches
- 46:09Speaker 5: for later in the game and not laboring through his
- 46:12Speaker 5: starts like he's really good at that. And sometimes when
- 46:16Speaker 5: these injuries happen, Yes, if he's out a month, does
- 46:18Speaker 5: he take two months to get back to that spot it?
- 46:21Speaker 5: You know, how quickly does he get back to that area?
- 46:24Speaker 5: Hopefully they can bang this out in a few days
- 46:26Speaker 5: and he ramps up his throwing program and is able
- 46:28Speaker 5: to be back to max freed as soon as possible.
- 46:32Speaker 3: We just every want to hear elbows shoulders. But plus Jerry,
- 46:35Speaker 3: you worry about if it's here, which is the UCO,
- 46:37Speaker 3: which he's already had once. So let's hope Max is okay.
- 46:40Speaker 3: He came out of the game quickly. He knew there
- 46:41Speaker 3: was something wrong. He got out of the game, and
- 46:43Speaker 3: hopefully the Yankees getting good news once they get the
- 46:45Speaker 3: MRIs back today.
- 46:47Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 46:48Speaker 2: Cole should be back at some point sooner. Redun's back
- 46:50Speaker 2: for this team. They've got some depth, but Freed's been
- 46:53Speaker 2: great for them in the Yankees uniform so far.
- 46:57Speaker 1: Hey, we are back.
- 46:58Speaker 2: We didn't get to talk a ton of about the Miz,
- 47:01Speaker 2: but damn he was nasty last night with the big
- 47:05Speaker 2: velo and this. Then you're mixing in like what was
- 47:07Speaker 2: it first a B three or four heaters at like
- 47:10Speaker 2: one oh three, and then it's like boom got him
- 47:13Speaker 2: on the ninety seven mile an hour slider.
- 47:15Speaker 1: That's that's video game shit right there.
- 47:21Speaker 3: He's got good stuff. Can he stay healthy and he's
- 47:24Speaker 3: figured out how to throw it over the plate, which
- 47:25Speaker 3: has always been the key for him is if he
- 47:27Speaker 3: can throw it over the plate and stay healthy. We
- 47:29Speaker 3: always thought this guy had a chance to be special,
- 47:31Speaker 3: and he's proving it when he's out there and should
- 47:33Speaker 3: have made the All Star team last year. Week can
- 47:35Speaker 3: debate that, but right now he should make the All
- 47:37Speaker 3: Star team and he has a chance to maybe even
- 47:40Speaker 3: start if they if things break right.
- 47:43Speaker 5: I'll be interested next time Murph comes on if we
- 47:45Speaker 5: can ask him does he stay healthier? Because we keep
- 47:48Speaker 5: talking about health, you're talking about a Cy Young Award
- 47:50Speaker 5: or just a really good pitcher. If he doesn't throw
- 47:54Speaker 5: one hundred and two to one hundred and three in
- 47:55Speaker 5: the first inning, is that is that possible? Is that
- 48:01Speaker 5: something that they talk about? Is that? Because I mean
- 48:04Speaker 5: he comes out guns a blazon, and I mean I
- 48:06Speaker 5: don't just don't know how many hundred and two hundred
- 48:08Speaker 5: and threes you need when you have all the other
- 48:12Speaker 5: stuff that he has. But hey, you know what, I
- 48:16Speaker 5: you can't deny what he's doing. He is punching out
- 48:19Speaker 5: the world right now. And it's not a slider, it's
- 48:21Speaker 5: a cutter.
- 48:23Speaker 1: Okay, that's fine.
- 48:25Speaker 2: I will definitely always seed to you on that one.
- 48:28Speaker 2: Gavin Sheets, by the way, ruined their whole day yesterday.
- 48:31Speaker 2: Abner Rebay couple on walk single whatever, and then Sheets,
- 48:35Speaker 2: bash is a homer and all of a sudden, the
- 48:38Speaker 2: Padres won that game. They've been doing that a lot, right,
- 48:40Speaker 2: like left the slider up boom. Sheets has had a
- 48:42Speaker 2: few of those. He said, three go ahead home runs
- 48:44Speaker 2: in the ninth or later already this season. That's impressive.
- 48:47Speaker 2: He's a clutch bat. Brewers are getting them back today,
- 48:49Speaker 2: by the way, they're up six nothing as we're doing
- 48:52Speaker 2: this show. And the third they blitzed Griffin Canning and
- 48:55Speaker 2: got to the Padres here. But Gavin Sheets has been
- 48:58Speaker 2: nice little addition for the Padres.
- 49:00Speaker 1: He's had his Holy Sheets moments.
- 49:01Speaker 2: It's one of the best home run calls from your
- 49:03Speaker 2: boy Arsilo too in baseball. I look forward to any
- 49:06Speaker 2: time he does something.
- 49:08Speaker 3: And the crowd chance too, what do they do?
- 49:12Speaker 1: Like? How is it? Holy Sheets? Holy Sheets?
- 49:19Speaker 5: San Diego is so cool. But Gury Bay cannot walk
- 49:23Speaker 5: Xander Bogarts to get to Gavin Sheets. I know he
- 49:26Speaker 5: hung a slider. I know it's shorter to write center,
- 49:29Speaker 5: blah blah blah. He can't walk Xander Bogarts. You have
- 49:33Speaker 5: to be able to get three strikes before four balls
- 49:37Speaker 5: to Xander Bogarts.
- 49:38Speaker 2: In that situation, you get at the park, Dad, what's
- 49:42Speaker 2: holy sheets?
- 50:00Speaker 1: Hey, one game we didn't get to one series.
- 50:04Speaker 2: The Blue Jays were like, damn, can we beat the
- 50:06Speaker 2: race one time? And you know, a bunch of the
- 50:08Speaker 2: Blue Jays writers and reporters were saying and writing about
- 50:11Speaker 2: how that was the swinging game of the year for
- 50:14Speaker 2: the first quarter here for Toronto aj as. You know,
- 50:18Speaker 2: they're looking to fight off the World Series hangover and
- 50:20Speaker 2: all the injuries. D Dalton bar Show bashed a big granny.
- 50:26Speaker 3: Flick. It was just to flick to left field, which
- 50:28Speaker 3: was unbelievable. This ball is up and away he just
- 50:29Speaker 3: flicks it out to left field. So huge win for
- 50:32Speaker 3: the Blue Jays. This might have saved their season.
- 50:35Speaker 1: Yeah, so that was one. You know.
- 50:37Speaker 2: It's funny also as we hang around for a couple
- 50:39Speaker 2: more minutes and then Dodger's Territory is going to be live,
- 50:41Speaker 2: so we'll flip you right over to that show if
- 50:43Speaker 2: you'd like to.
- 50:43Speaker 1: Watch or hate watch. What was I going to say? Damn?
- 50:49Speaker 2: I just oh Foster Griffin. We talked about him with
- 50:52Speaker 2: Robert Murray. Thursdays are always weird when you have the
- 50:55Speaker 2: day games. You have a lot of runs during our show.
- 51:00Speaker 2: So somebody's gonna watch that segment back and be like, oh, guys,
- 51:05Speaker 2: bolster Griffin is not the good. Eleven earned runs in
- 51:09Speaker 2: his first eight starts, he gave up nine in his
- 51:12Speaker 2: ninth start, over four and a third.
- 51:15Speaker 5: I'm so pissed. I've been killing the over with the
- 51:18Speaker 5: Twins and the Nats, like it's just an over, just
- 51:22Speaker 5: an over all the time. But they had day games today,
- 51:26Speaker 5: so the over loving it.
- 51:30Speaker 2: The Nats are great for that because their offense is
- 51:33Speaker 2: really good, it's a top three offense and runs per
- 51:35Speaker 2: game right now, and their pitching is not good. And
- 51:37Speaker 2: then the Twins bullpen is just the best fade in
- 51:40Speaker 2: the business right now. It's been like that. It's such
- 51:43Speaker 2: a great fade. They just they do not care. And
- 51:45Speaker 2: I feel bad obviously for the guys there, but not
- 51:47Speaker 2: all of them should be in the big leagues, just being.
- 51:49Speaker 1: Real about it.
- 51:50Speaker 2: They gutted their whole bullpen last year, did just about
- 51:52Speaker 2: nothing this offseason to fix that.
- 51:55Speaker 1: And then you know, their owner went on.
- 51:57Speaker 2: All the media stuff and was like it's going to
- 51:59Speaker 2: be different and they're like why, and he's like, just
- 52:01Speaker 2: because because it's the different owner. Remember the different pole
- 52:04Speaker 2: lad took over and it was like everything is going
- 52:06Speaker 2: to be different, where he like guaranteed they're gonna be good.
- 52:08Speaker 1: It's what Dick Monfort used to do with the Rockies.
- 52:10Speaker 2: He doesn't do that anymore, but he used to come
- 52:12Speaker 2: out publicly before the season.
- 52:13Speaker 1: Started being like, we're gonna be good.
- 52:15Speaker 2: It's like, you probably shouldn't say that based on, you know,
- 52:19Speaker 2: your off season moves.
- 52:20Speaker 5: So he stopped, We're gonna be good. You know why?
- 52:23Speaker 5: Wat's this magic trick of baseball? Oh wow? It easy?
- 52:32Speaker 1: Oh wow? A j do you know who's hosting tomorrow's show.
- 52:39Speaker 2: I'm gonna let you. I'm gonna let you guess. It's
- 52:41Speaker 2: because for me? Who's hosting for me?
- 52:43Speaker 1: I'm out?
- 52:48Speaker 3: I mean, Jimmy, I gotta get some.
- 52:52Speaker 1: It's not Tricia. It's not because she.
- 52:54Speaker 3: Would have it's not Tricia. She would have texted me
- 52:56Speaker 3: Alana's and Gaines Wild to watch more than the Wall
- 52:58Speaker 3: on Hennas Kaiser.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Nope, it's a rookie debut. I'm out tomorrow, Katie Wu.
- 53:09Speaker 3: Of course, I'm gonna give her so ship.
- 53:13Speaker 1: Katie Wu.
- 53:14Speaker 2: If you want to send her a good luck on
- 53:16Speaker 2: your hosting debut.
- 53:17Speaker 1: Tomorrow message, go for it.
- 53:19Speaker 2: She's also part of the Dodgers' territory crew, but she'll
- 53:21Speaker 2: cover the whole game, which she also does for the
- 53:23Speaker 2: Athletic too. She'll put out notes and all that. So
- 53:26Speaker 2: it's gonna be great. Chris Bubitch is on the show tomorrow.
- 53:29Speaker 2: Ken Rosenthal will be on tomorrow. It's gonna be.
- 53:33Speaker 3: Katie did it when I'm not here.
- 53:35Speaker 5: Of course, we're gonna talk about Dodgers tomorrow. Get my
- 53:38Speaker 5: Dodgers hat out. That'll be great.
- 53:41Speaker 1: Dodging Pierzinski with her hosting debut.
- 53:44Speaker 5: That's easy. That's easy.
- 53:49Speaker 2: Also, you can play that swing for a daily shot
