- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Welcome to a special episode of Let's Tick Together.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: Another one.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: We're doing a we're doing a mini special without YUP.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: So for anyone who is just a specific YUP fan, just stop now, skip it.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Um, we're doing it because it's the England Hockey League finals weekend on Saturday and Sunday.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: We're actually going to release this in time where we can talk about fixtures.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: Um, if any I mean if this is out on a social media or something, me and Brendan are with uh Jack Stanley Art editor and graphic graphic guy making us do very tedious social media posts um ready for this weekend.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: So I'm in a Holcomb shirt and Brendan is in a Serban shirt.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: If there's one thing we've learned, we're not very good at the whole organized media.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: We're really bad at it.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: No.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Jack, I mean this is a good time.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Are you are you are you happy with this?
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: How how's the season been for you?
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: Good, good.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: Um he said good, good.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: This is what you normally call your bell-in.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: So so, and you've got made me too do too many things this week for social media, so you're a bell-in.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Two videos.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: How precious you are on.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: He WhatsApp me as well.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: Out of hours, right?
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: So, anyone who doesn't know, um, me and Brendan this Saturday night, I think it is going to be live streamed with commentary.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, four pounds.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Four pounds is that how much I think it's for the full live stream though, of the whole thing.
- 1:33SPEAKER_02: Uh 3.99, I think, for a day and then five for the weekend.
- 1:37SPEAKER_02: Oh, so that's that's actually quite decent.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: So if you want to tune in, you can't make it down to Serbiton.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: It is£3.99 for a day or five pounds for the uh weekend.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: I'm not sure if that's good or bad, but if you want to tune in, that's what the deal is.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Me and Brendan are actually playing each other at seven o'clock on Saturday night, which is pretty pretty exciting.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: How are you feeling for that one, Brent?
- 1:58SPEAKER_02: Excited.
- 2:00SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, I'm actually really excited to be honest.
- 2:03SPEAKER_02: Um, it's been a long time since I've played in a league finals.
- 2:07SPEAKER_02: Um, so yeah, it'll be pretty, I think it'll be pretty damn cool.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: 7 p.m.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: as well.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: It's always a great time to play.
- 2:12SPEAKER_02: Um, and pending whatever the result of the first game, if OGs win, then it's straight playoff for Europe, which is quite a cool thing to as well.
- 2:20SPEAKER_02: So I think it's quite unique as well.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, to go into some detail, there are four games on both days.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: There's the women's semi-finals at one o'clock and three o'clock at Serbiton.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: Uh, the semi-finals are Serbiton are playing East Grinstead, and Clifton Robbins are playing Hampstead.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: Are they Clifton Robbins?
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: Are they Robinson's Clifton Robinson?
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Come on, come on, Phil.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: Solid, solid information from myself.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: Um you've got the games, right?
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I've got the games right.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: And then Wimbledon are playing OGs at five o'clock in the on the men's side, and then it finishes off with the pinnacle Holcomb versus Serbiton.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Um Surbiton probably just is it fair to say you've got a little advantage from the home crowd.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: They've decided to take it away from Lee Valley and put it at a club.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: And I think you know, Serbon is going to be pretty cool to have people down.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: Do you think it's going to be a good atmosphere?
- 3:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, by the sounds of it, it's pretty packed house already, which is pretty cool.
- 3:16SPEAKER_02: I think what's really nice is the fact that the games are going to be played on a quick pitch, which I think makes it so much more enjoyable to play in, also to watch as well.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: I think Lee Valley is quite a difficult pitch to actually play on, whereas I think Serbon's pitch, whilst it is pretty difficult to play on, it's rapid, which I think is actually really exciting for the finals.
- 3:35SPEAKER_02: I think it's only going to make the spectacle better.
- 3:37SPEAKER_02: Um, it's also great to see it back at clubs.
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: I don't, I don't generally don't know how it's going to look at the club, but I'm really excited because I think it could, if they do anything like what they did with women's EHL, I think it could be an unbelievable setup.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: So yeah, really excited.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: And I've just got to hone my inner you very quickly because I could just imagine him saying, Who gives a shit about what the pitch is like?
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Okay, no.
- 3:58SPEAKER_02: You care though.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I do care.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but I was just in home.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: No, no, no, no, that's fine.
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: I'm just checking you you agree though, that's the important bit.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: Um on to sorry, the women's.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: We skimmed past that quickly.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: Serbiton, who have won the league something ridiculous amount of times and have like hardly ever lost a game in the last five years.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: It's it's going to be hard to look past them, isn't it?
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Serban women.
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, yeah, they've they've got a tough semi though against EG.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: I think the women's is first versus fourth and third versus sixth, I believe.
- 4:29SPEAKER_02: Um, in terms of where they finished in the top six, um, whereas the men's is very much one v three and two v4, so it's quite exciting on that front.
- 4:40SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, I it's pretty difficult to look past them, I think, with the amount of international depth they've got, um, both current and X, I think it's quite like it's a yeah, it's a bloody strong squad.
- 4:52SPEAKER_02: So I think you'd be hard pressed to look past.
- 4:54SPEAKER_02: However, Hampstead have also got a fair few internationals prepast and present.
- 5:00SPEAKER_02: So I think from that point of view, like if it if it ends up a Hampstead Serviceon final, I think that could be a pretty damn exciting final.
- 5:06SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: And players to watch on the women's side, who, if anyone's go heading down there, if anyone's on the live stream, can you give me two players that are the ones to watch for this weekend?
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: I'll try and give a couple as well.
- 5:18SPEAKER_02: I think it's hard to look past Hannah Martin if she's playing.
- 5:21SPEAKER_02: I think she's I think she creates a hell of a lot for Serviton.
- 5:24SPEAKER_02: Um, I think Alice Sharp's a massively underrated player for Serviton as well.
- 5:28SPEAKER_02: And she's really, really good.
- 5:30SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, I think those two are probably for me from the Serviton side of things.
- 5:34SPEAKER_02: All right, who you who are you thinking?
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: I'll put in there, I think Tess Howard, I think is someone who you should watch out for anytime she gets the ball in the D.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: I think she's a complete, uh, very, very dangerous player.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: And I've always liked watching Sophie Hamilton.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: She's one of the young stars on the scene again, another Serbon player.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: We feel a bit biased here, but um, she's got really, really quick hands and she scored a hat full of goals this year.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: So I think that should be pretty exciting.
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: Top score in the league, wasn't she?
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: I think both of the top goals goes in the witness league.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: Well, not really elegated or anything.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: What about under air?
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: Jack's Jack's Jack's giving us some shit.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: Shut up, Jack.
- 6:15SPEAKER_02: Just provided for some pretty good information though.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: I already knew that.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: It's ones to watch, it's not dark horse.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: Okay, and ones to watch, it's quite tough for us.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: I guess we're playing against each other.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: Um what would you um I just said we're playing against each other?
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, that's what I said myself.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: What do you see?
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: How are you gonna beat Holcomb this week?
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: And we'll also get on to ones to watch for the weekends.
- 6:37SPEAKER_02: Giving you nothing to work with on that front.
- 6:39SPEAKER_02: Um, I think what is exciting is the fact that both games we played against yourselves.
- 6:45SPEAKER_02: I didn't play the first one, but from watching from the sideline, both teams actually tried to play hockey.
- 6:50SPEAKER_02: I think that's the tough thing when you play against certain teams.
- 6:53SPEAKER_02: I think it's quite difficult sometimes.
- 6:55SPEAKER_02: Um, but we actually both teams went out and actually played some hockey, which is actually quite exciting.
- 6:59SPEAKER_02: Um wasn't too much shit out of it, which is an abundance in other games, and I can imagine the other semifinals are probably gonna have a lot more of that in thanks.
- 7:07SPEAKER_02: Um I'm just excited for an actual game, as I say, like actually just a really high quality game.
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: I think whoever wins that it's it's fair play.
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: I think it's it's two teams going out there to play the best that they can play and kind of take to each other.
- 7:19SPEAKER_02: I think that's what makes it that's what makes it really exciting for me as a player, but I think also for people watching at home or hopefully there at some road.
- 7:27SPEAKER_02: I think that'll make a massive play.
- 7:29SPEAKER_02: It'll make a really impactful play.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: Okay, and for the semi-finals, that satisfy two questions.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: The men semi-finals, who are the battles that you want to see, the one-on-one battles that you want to see happen?
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: It could be goalie striker, it could be midfielder versus midfielder, it could be I'll give you a number one option.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: I think I will go with a Ed Hawler for Wimbledon versus George Pinner.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: I think there is a bit of bite there.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: I think anyone who's down there or watching on the stream, I think you want to make sure if one of them scores or makes a save off the other, I think you want to see what happens after that.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: That should be quite tasty.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: Who gets the who gets the bearer of that little button?
- 8:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I was gonna say that as well.
- 8:08SPEAKER_02: Um Bales versus any of the OG's forward line, I think will be quite interesting.
- 8:12SPEAKER_02: Obviously, having played with each other over the whole GB cycles, whether it's Tyndall, whether it's Carson, whether it's Wardy, I think that'll be quite an interesting dynamic as well.
- 8:22SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, I I'm quite excited to see Lee Morton versus Jack Waller.
- 8:26SPEAKER_02: That actually really does excite me.
- 8:28SPEAKER_02: I think that'll be quite interesting.
- 8:29SPEAKER_02: Jack Waller playing Screen for Wimbledon, Lee playing High Midfield for OGs.
- 8:34SPEAKER_02: I think that'll actually be really exciting as well.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: And uh Holcombe Holcomb Serviceon?
- 8:39SPEAKER_02: Banders Luke, I think will be an interesting dynamic.
- 8:42SPEAKER_02: Um I think it's always quite interesting between the two of them.
- 8:45SPEAKER_02: Uh both huge impact for both teams, which I think is actually quite cool as well.
- 8:50SPEAKER_02: Um Greg Nolan versus Dave Goodfield is my personal like real excitement.
- 8:56SPEAKER_02: Two mates from Uni, um who have been best mates for we're looking well over a decade now.
- 9:02SPEAKER_02: Um obviously Greg playing Scream for Holcomb, good as playing Hymifield for Servitum.
- 9:07SPEAKER_02: It's quite an exciting little like dynamic between the two of them.
- 9:10SPEAKER_02: I can imagine a bit of handbags coming out at some point.
- 9:13SPEAKER_02: Um, but yeah, they're my two, they're my two that I'd go for on that.
- 9:16SPEAKER_02: That's any final.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: Creed Roper, is that anything to be careful?
- 9:20SPEAKER_02: You just spanning around on the sideline, mate.
- 9:22SPEAKER_02: I've got no interest in that.
- 9:23SPEAKER_02: That's not that's not for me.
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: That I'm keeping my distance.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: Well, it's just keeping its distance for a reason.
- 9:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, last time I think I played against film, I got my ankles broken.
- 9:31SPEAKER_02: Jake Owen broke my ankles as well.
- 9:33SPEAKER_02: It happens a lot, it's a slippy pitch, so there's a tough pitch to stand up on.
- 9:36SPEAKER_02: Um, so yeah, so the aim of this the aim of this weekend is to just stay standing rather than just falling over every now and then.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: Um have we got anything else for this weekend?
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: Anything to look out for?
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: Um, do you hope anyone gets down?
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: Uh well, we're hoping that you know, by England hockey putting this at a club, we have more of an atmosphere.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: Hopefully, the teams who are who are competing they come down and and put on a show and actually make it a little bit of a fan base.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: Any shithousery or abuse from the sidelines for me or Brendan is is completely uh encouraged.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: Um Brendan, anything to finish off on?
- 10:13SPEAKER_02: My only question is what do you see?
- 10:15SPEAKER_02: What what do you think is the biggest positive that you'd like to see coming out of this weekend?
- 10:21SPEAKER_02: It's quite a big general question, but like what obviously it's coming back to the clubs.
- 10:26SPEAKER_02: Um it it is the for the men it's the official top four.
- 10:29SPEAKER_02: For the women, obviously, it's worked out a little bit differently.
- 10:32SPEAKER_02: Like, what do you see as being the big biggest positive coming out of the weekend pending everything goes right?
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: Hopefully that the it's it's um we have some some nice crowds that serve it and it's jam-packed for the full two days.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: Uh they do a good live stream so that actually people who do buy that package, which I'm questioning slightly why you have to buy it, but if they buy it, it's actually good quality with commentary, with angles, with replays.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: Um, and then we can start to you know grow something for next year and the season after, and start to learn how hockey could be publicised in the right way, how club hockey could be publicized in the right way, because uh it's got a long way to go.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: There's definitely you know many gears that this that club hockey can go up.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: Um hopefully this is the start of something.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: I think this has been a little special episode.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: Hopefully, you've enjoyed tuning in.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: Um as we've said, you can get your tickets from England hockey uh website, or you can tune in on the live stream.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: We really hope that you've taken something from this.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: Sorry, Yupe.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: Um, we do miss you, and we can't wait to be together next week again.
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: Um, this has been Let's Stick Together, brought to you by Y1.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: Brennan, final, final out.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: So okay.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: See you guys.
