- 0:00From the free throw line. So that's three straight games of eight, eight
- 0:03and seven free pointers made, which for this team, it's not too shabby.
- 0:06As Chris Daily joined us here for the Daily Recap, would you say
- 0:10that might be the most complete game your team has played through the first ten.
- 0:13Yeah, well, I thought from an aggressive physical standpoint, I mean,
- 0:17everything that we needed to do we did. We were more physical,
- 0:20we out rebounded him, and we played Louisville as a team that is taking
- 0:25like one hundred more free throws than their opponent. We got to the free
- 0:27throw line more than they did, so a lot of really positive things.
- 0:32I'll be honest. I was a little nervous at half because we shot sixty
- 0:36six percent from the form. We were only up four, so you're like,
- 0:39hmm, okay, But unlike some of the other games, we came
- 0:44out in the third quarter and we just kept the art foot on the pedal
- 0:49and really just I thought, battled for forty minutes. Yeah, I think
- 0:53that's the biggest thing you had mentioned other times about consistency. Well for forty
- 0:57minutes, they really they did do that. You know, here and there,
- 1:00a couple turnovers, but overall that and then it looked like they even
- 1:03picked it up a notch defensively in that third period to make that distance further.
- 1:07They're a difficult team to scout and to prepare for because they run a
- 1:12lot of stuff and they run, you know, you have to really guard
- 1:17actions more than set plays. But I thought Jamal did a great job scouting,
- 1:21and I thought the kids really concentrated on the things that we need.
- 1:23We made a couple of mistakes, and when we did, they took advantage
- 1:26of it. But you know, a lot of that's just battling. You
- 1:29know, you have to figure things out and on the fly, I have
- 1:32to make some decisions. So I thought we because we were scoring, it
- 1:36was hard for them to set their pressure. So that was good. We
- 1:38were able to, you know, keep them off balance a little bit with
- 1:41that and just really it was a great win, really great crowd over thirteen
- 1:47thousand people. I don't know, did you guys get the whole Taylor Swift
- 1:49thing, the Eras T shirt and you get that? No, that's what
- 1:53I did. So Eras was about the Eras that we've had here, and
- 1:57then the T shirt had the air to was you didn't know that? And
- 2:04I'm not even really as swifty per se. But you heard all the music
- 2:07and I'm thinking Taylor Swift. Yeah, and so that's it. And they
- 2:09did friend they did those bracelets up in the concourse before, so it's kind
- 2:14of in me tie in. I didn't get a T shirt yet, but
- 2:16you're working on that. Yeah, I will. But it was just a
- 2:21really fun atmosphere. It was great to be at home, great to have
- 2:24so many fans. Hopefully we'll have as many on on Monday because actually Monday
- 2:29is a more important game because it's a conference game. So we want to,
- 2:32you know, start the year with to be want to know. We're
- 2:35playing Butler and they're a difficult team to play because they do you know,
- 2:39back in our league, a lot of the teams do the five out and
- 2:43you have to guard a lot of different things and they put pressure on you
- 2:46because they draw your big eyes out. So it'll be a test. But
- 2:50we're gonna enjoy this one today and then get ready for Butler tomorrow. Aubrey
- 2:54was a lot of fun to watch today, wasn't she She really was.
- 2:59You know when she plays like that, which she does it a lot.
- 3:02But to be able to put together the offensive side and knock into three.
- 3:07She just has to stay aggressive because all the other things she does she did
- 3:10today is things she does all the time. She steals, rebounding, offensive
- 3:15rebounding, so all of those things. You know, she's capable, and
- 3:21it's great to see all her hard work come to light today, and we
- 3:25need to build on that for sure. Here's the wild thing. When she
- 3:29hit that three, she had the ball beforehand, not sure what to do
- 3:31with it, started to dribble in and then ball got knocked around. Then
- 3:35she gets the ball back top of the key. Didn't even think about it.
- 3:38Well, that's the thing I think if she, if anyone, whether
- 3:42it's Aubrey, anybody catches the ball and has to think about whether they should
- 3:46shoot it, they probably shouldn't shoot it because they're not ready to shoot it.
- 3:49So if you're not ready, then don't shoot it. But my thinking
- 3:52is until we tell you not to shoot it, every time you catch it,
- 3:57you need to be ready. And that's kind of a mindset. So
- 4:00she has to get that mindset and be comfortable. It's usually when she takes
- 4:03too long to make that decision that it looks uncomfortable, you know, looks
- 4:09tentative and that you know when she's when she's very aggressive in all areas,
- 4:14then that makes us a different team and to be able to bring that off
- 4:16the bench that really helps. They looks fresh as I don't say that coming
- 4:21off of finals and everything. You would think they'd be lead, you know,
- 4:25like heavy, like oh, you know, we just battled through that,
- 4:28But I don't know, like the practices and how you were able to
- 4:30get the game accomplished and still have them out there hungry and fresh. It
- 4:33looks pretty well. They're also eighteens twenty two. You know what, because
- 4:41we talk about this all the time. You only get so many games in
- 4:44your career, and we've unfortunately had a number of players experience not having the
- 4:48opportunity to play for a year or whatever. So I think it even it
- 4:54shows for the other players that nothing's a given, so you have to really
- 4:58embrace each opportunity and really take advantage of it and play a game that you
- 5:02love. And that's really what it is, that the outcome it's gonna happen
- 5:08no matter what. You have to go after what you want. You have
- 5:11to go after a win, go after a rebound, all of that,
- 5:13and stay in that mode, and I think we did that today. Back
- 5:15at it Monday, Yes we are. We'll see you that you have this
- 5:18scout for Butler, I do not. Okay, I do not. I
- 5:20had North Carolina. Okay, is your shopping done? Yeah? Well,
- 5:25you know that's one advantage to have family in other states that I don't really
- 5:29have time to procrastinate because I have to ship. So I shipped them last
- 5:32week. All of them went one to Hawaii, one to California, and
- 5:35one to Ohio. Well, I'm actually getting off easy because my niece lives
- 5:42in Australia, but she's going to be in Hawaii with my sister and her
- 5:46family, so I got to only I only had to ship that to Hawaii
- 5:48and not all the way over to Australia. I'm impressed with it. I
- 5:53think it's harder when they're a wait to get that organized. That. Yeah,
- 5:57it's taken in that early. Did Yeah. Well my goal was the
- 6:00tenth and I didn't make the goal, so it was a couple of days
- 6:02late, but it was good. I'm looking forward to it. We get
- 6:06actually we get five days this year, which is in the basketball world a
- 6:12lot, so we're happy about that. After we and I'm glad I don't
- 6:15be scheduling because when I told the people from Louisville we still had, you
- 6:19know, three games today and two more before Christmas, it seemed like a
- 6:24lot. So we'll get through it. Well, you know, we have
- 6:27to attack Monday and be ready to win and then be ready to go up
- 6:30to Canada and have a fun night for earlier. All right, thank you,
- 6:34christ all right, thank you
