Then I also want to talk, you know, some wrestling movie stuff.

You know, there's been some actors that have crossed over into the wrestling world

and vice versa. We've had wrestlers dip their toe in the film world.

So we got a lot we got to get into. But let's start off

with the granddaddy of them all, wrestle Mania forty over in Philadelphia. Corey,

you decided to go to the event. Now, you did go Saturday.

It's a two night event. Unfortunately, two nights night one. Though

unfortunately it was the weaker of the cards. The crowd seemed a little lackluster.

we tried multiple times when people try to get into the matches, but it

was just too cold. Is that what it was? It was just too

cold, Like I remember what, Like, okay, so I'm watching Maria

Ripley versus Becky Lynch Matt great match. I mean, like, okay,

So there's a portion in a match with trading phasis and everybody's trying to get

into and they're like whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, And you're trying

to get into the flow. You're trying to get into the flow, but

at a certain point you get cold, and the crowd just literally got cold,

and nobody said nothing. Do you think a lot of crowds regardless of

the coldness. Do you just think modern audiences are in conditions to be loud?

Is it because the shows are too long? But you go back,

you watch a random raw from nineteen ninety eight, nineteen ninety nine. Is

it because the demographics different? You know, that's like a college atmosphere.

Maybe they're a bit rowdy, And then today's audience maybe is not geared to

the stamina that is a five hour show. So from this is just me

from like from when I'm going to like wrestling events. It seems as though

like the fans nowadays are more conditioned to they know their spot. They know

that like you know how wrestlers have the spots. Fans know their spots.

They know what portion of chip for and not to cheer for. And since

you you won't see fans go wild for like a whole hour or so,

But even that, it's not that many of them, so it doesn't sound

and people are on their phones. They're not even paying attention to what's happening.

I know I would say that in a sense because I did see some

of that, but like, okay, so I was at the NXT game

NXT show before Wrestlemingia Stand and Delivery, where what that was where Raw and

War SmackDown was. Yeah? Is that wells far though? And I think

it was what sixteen thousand people in there for the NXT show was like one

of the highest. I think it was their highest. Yeah. So I'm

in there and it was just what I'll tell you this one match that there

was a couple of matches that actually blew the roof over, like people were

just going crazy. But there was this one. It was Ade Jack,

Oba fiel Me and Josh Breaks. Literally it started from the opening gate like

people going crazy, like they got over feared Me, come out, We're

champion each each movement who who, Like, we're going crazy, and then

the match starts and we're going every You got some people rooting for die Jeck,

you got some people room for over Me, and we're going like the

match starts off slow, but it slowly starts picking up and we're going crazy

because people got their guy. So I'm trut I'm rooting for over feem Me,

some people rooting for do Check. And when they have these like the

uh, I want to say these false finishes, like where the guy's going

for pen he's about to win it, and like somebody grabs the refs like

oh my god. Every you can hear it, and you can hear in

the arena everybody is going crazy. It's so funny, like because again,

you know, I I haven't actually talked about wrestling on Film Rail, but

I've talked about it, whether it's on my radio show Radio Rumbo or we

talked about it on the Recess Spell. Wrestling is just so bizarre when you

break it down, because it's people going crazy for something that is predetermined.

It's just like but it's like how you said the film ro It's like watching

a film. It's you know, you know, none of this stuff is

real, but it's the story. And it's the story they telling with their

could be watching Hary. I remember when I first was watching Harry Potter for

Potter is not I know, magic and stuff is not real like that,

But guess what I found myself so entertained, like everything that was going on,

like you find yourself cheering a little bit. Avengers, Avengers, the

opening night of the last Avengers movie, when you know Captain America appeared through

the Doctor Strange portal that audience, it was such an awesome atmosphere to be

when I tell you, like, okay, speaking of wrestlerments and like Avengers,

grabbed thorst Ham, Yeah, that was crazy. That was crazy. I

wish I could. I wish I could capture that moment being the theater again

because when you see that in movement everybody, it's like the wildest thing.

And like even when I go back to NXT, the thing like the last

match, it was a guy named Trick Williams. He has his whole tank

going whoop that trick when his when his theme music stars taking it literally new

mind you, I said my back was hurting, so I was outside for

a minute, right, Yeah, I could hear the I could hear everybody

yelling whoop that trick for at least like a good solid four minutes, like

four or five minutes while I'm in it. And then mind you, the

show's over and people are still chanting it. They're still chanting it, and

that makes or breaks a match for me, actually is the fan reaction,

because I've seen some awesome you know, Lucha door matches and WCW and the

crowd is silent, and no matter what awesome stuff they're doing in the ring,

if the audience isn't into it, I can't get into it. And

then my favorite match is the Rock versus Whule Coca at Wrestle in the eighteen.

Now, just everything about that is awesome, but if you watch that

without sound, it's not really a great match. You know, Hogan's in

his mid fifties. He was never known as a technical wrestler. Rock never

really known as the technical as the kids say, it was an aura.

Is that the phrase? But it really was, you know, the They

know how to play into their characters, and just a simple stare down got

more reactions than people doing four to fifty splashes and all you know, your

horror couranas. That is the beauty of pro wrestling. There are so many

different styles, but let's get to wrestlemanting. Oh, go ahead, because

when you don't revolve around just doing certain moves, you actually have to tell

a story and you have to listen to the crowd, because that's the beauty

of that eight Wrestleminging eighteen match. You know, Rock went in as the

baby face, Hogan was the heel. They heard that audience and they were

so good, and they switched in the middle of that match and Rock started

doing some heel shit and Hogan's started hulking up and they played into it.

It's just such a great match that Dave Meltzer gave like three stars. She's,

yeah, I don't get I don't get one. Kurt Angle matches a

five star rate. I didn't discover, like I didn't like you when I

was a wrestling fan, Like being a wrestling fan, I only just was

watching the shows and stuff. I didn't know about the background ship that was

going on. So when I found out what the fuck is this guy David

rates and then like I'm listening, I'm listening to like how many star rates

like this wrestler guy? Like so, Kurt Angle never had a five star

It's a whole circle jerk thing New Japan Wrestless. You can't be friends with

somebody and objectively judge their work. Clearly, he's bias to a certain company

agree that Kurt Angle certainly deserves at least one fivetles versus Sean Michaels at WrestleMania

Kurt Angle versus Chris Ben wil Royal Rumble two thousand and three. I mean

something in there. Anything in New Japan, like yeah, like Rock the

Ironman match they had on SmackDown. Something deserved the five star match. Nothing

at WrestleMania forty actually got five stars. If you and WWW get a post

Becky lynch Rea Ripley is a star. She just carries herself. She has

a unique look. Have we ever seen anybody like It's sort of like a

she had a crazy indurance with the guys from Motionless who actually the gun looks

growing up, it was bron panty matches and evening gown matches and mud wrestling,

and you had these models that had no athletic bones in them. And

now the women, especially in the wwe are putting on sometimes the match of

the night. That's unheard of. You would never think of that in nineteen

ninety eight, nineteen nine, when you had Debra and you know, people

like that, Tory Wilson and Stacey Keebler. Me her name neat is it

Nydia Nydia. Yeah, yeah, yeah, like you went blind one time,

funny. But I thought this match is very, very good. Ria Ripley,

I think is uh gonna go down as one of the all time greats.

She's already old, she's young, she's young, she's young, she

has she's still something. And I think once she turns baby face, because

like Bret Hart had such a unique look with the pink and the black and

the sunglasses and the leather jacket. Mister Perfect had the unique unitar leotards.

And you know, the New Day certainly does that, especially WrestleMania season.

They know how to you know, bring it. Let's move on to the

next Ray Mysterio and Andrade. This is the match where I felt like they

decreased by a bunch of people. Yeah, it should have been like three

thrown together, less like a Mysterio teaming up with Andrade to take on Santos

the last year. He's legitimately hated, he has gotten significantly better in the

mess. Unfortunately for him, I felt as though a lot of his WrestleMania

plans were tied with Rock, right, the Rock thing. Yeah, and

then so when his plans went down, you had to you kind of had

to shift because he's supposed to do stuff at Elimination Chambery to do all this

other stuff, so now you had to shift. And I felt as though

it was kind of crazy the fact that he has to do a second WrestleMania

with his father. I felt as though you should have kept them. You

should keep them, You should have kept raymister or Dominic apart until Ray's retirement

match, because I always wanted to see a possible here versus mass here versus

match match between those two as his final match. Yeah. I think that's

what Ray has talked about on the record. Uh, for doing something like

that, This was just a match you're gonna forget, you know, five

years from now when you look back at the WrestleMania card, you back.

And I was a little upset the fact that Dragon Lea got replaced in this

match for Andronnie. I'm glad Andronnie got his WrestleMania moment, but it's like

and the young the young guy. I felt as though he was He's going

to come up and like he had an opportunity to really do something that WrestleMania.

Well, speaking of just disappointments, Jay Usso defeated Jimmy Usso in a

singles match. This was by far the worst match of both nights. I

don't understand the lack of chemistry that these guys have. You know, their

brothers, their twins. You would think they would have some sort of chemistry.

You know, Breton Owen famously at WrestleMania ten having one of the greatest

matches of all time. This just did not work. So so this falls

into the jefe. I just think that it also might have needed a stipulation.

You know, why not have this. I know you had a street

fight the next night, but this is like a blood feud. I think

he needed something, whether it's a steel cage street fight, blood or something

involved in you need more, you need more heat. Yeah, but I

think it kind of pegged out how like some people thought. A lot of

people thought the match was gonna be bad, and so it kind of turned

out how a lot of people thought it was. Especially when you thought of

like, I mean, super kicks. They were going to throw Mandy superkicks.

I'm like, Seawn Michael's like he probably had a little throw up,

Like come on, y'all disrespecting my move, Like I mean, I understand

to an extent, standing there and taking a chop and being like, look
