- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Um Valentine's Day.
- 0:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: Do you celebrate?
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: No.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: I know, I don't know.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: Definitely not.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: You know it's like, no, it's like an overrated holiday.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: It's like the weirdest thing ever.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Why don't you celebrate?
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: I like my birthday more.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: That's true.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: But like, why?
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Is it like uh I just think it's like, I don't know.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: It's not my it's not my holiday.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: I'm not that level of cringe.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Not that if you celebrate, you're cringy.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: I just think it's that's a good way to start.
- 0:32SPEAKER_02: I mean, listen, I think it's uh it's a stupid holiday.
- 0:35SPEAKER_02: But you know me, I don't like holidays in general.
- 0:38SPEAKER_02: It's fine.
- 0:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 0:40SPEAKER_02: Uh was pointing to the heat.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: The heat.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: I was like, the heat came on.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: And I like it.
- 0:46SPEAKER_02: Um I think it's a stupid holiday.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: I mean, I like we'll totally do like Valentine's themed nails.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Does that count?
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: Um, maybe, yeah.
- 0:55SPEAKER_02: I mean, but no, honestly, I just like like all jokes aside, I just think it's a weird holiday.
- 0:59SPEAKER_02: Like the history behind it is trash.
- 1:01SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's pretty gory.
- 1:02SPEAKER_02: It's pretty, yeah.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and uh pretty violent.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: I just think it's like uh it's not my holiday.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Like there's other things I celebrate Halloween, I would celebrate Valentine's.
- 1:11SPEAKER_02: No, no Halloween, no Valentine's, none of that crap.
- 1:14SPEAKER_02: It's all consumer, it's all consumerism, you know.
- 1:17SPEAKER_02: But they they can you know basically convince people this is something you have to do just to make more money off of us.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I guess.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: I don't look at Valentine's, I think Valentine's is important for people because they think like, okay, it's a show of love, and I have to show you that I love you and this and this, but I feel like you could do that any day of the year.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 1:36SPEAKER_02: But you know, it's it's gotten big in the Arab world.
- 1:39unknown: I know.
- 1:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's that's what's shocking to me.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: And you know, like even uh um like Shiyuch in Saudi Arabia have made it halal.
- 1:47SPEAKER_02: Did you know that?
- 1:48SPEAKER_02: No, I did not.
- 1:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, there's like a fatwa on it.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: No way.
- 1:51SPEAKER_02: I swear to God, I have the line.
- 1:52SPEAKER_02: I have the link, I have the link.
- 1:54SPEAKER_02: Oh my god, you don't know that?
- 1:56SPEAKER_02: I came prepared, damn it.
- 1:58SPEAKER_02: Hold on a second, let me show you.
- 2:01SPEAKER_02: I'll find you, I have the link right here, happy.
- 2:04SPEAKER_02: Hold on.
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna bring it up for you, and then you can see yourself.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: Saudi religious.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Oh, this is Reuters.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: And this is Reuters.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: Respectable Saudi religious leader says Muslims can celebrate Valentine's Day.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's big there too now.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Sheikh Sheikh Ahmad al-Ramdi, the former head of the Mecca Regents Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: I still think it's a trash holiday.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: I think they got rid of that thing.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: What?
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: The promotion of I mean, maybe this is a couple years old, but like, yeah, it's not like that Europe.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: But they got rid of this organization altogether.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: Maybe.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: No, they did.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, okay.
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: But I'm saying they did they made it okay.
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: Like they made okay, but that's not the Yeah, I don't know.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: It's but again, this Sheikh is known for his liberal stances.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: I'm the count is out.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: I don't know if I if I'm all about this life.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: I don't whatever.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: I don't care if it's a fetwa, fetwa, no fetwa.
- 3:00SPEAKER_02: That's not I don't know religious reasons or no religious reasons.
- 3:03SPEAKER_02: For me, Valentine's Day is not something I celebrate.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: But do you think some people place a lot of importance on it in relationships?
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: But I also think is that healthy I think whatever works for you is healthy.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: I can't tell you, like, don't celebrate Valentine's Day because it means your relationship's gonna fall apart.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: No, it's um that was a very good broadcasting voice.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: Um okay.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: It's uh I just think like you do what works for you.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: Some people like are so they're like, and it's funny because I say cringy, but they're not.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: I think it's actually really cute.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: Some people like are all about like the display of affection, whether it's through Valentine's Day, whether it's PDA, whether it's whatever.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: That works for them.
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: That works for them.
- 3:46SPEAKER_02: Again, neither one of us is about that life.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: I'm not.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: But but honestly, sometimes do I think it's cute?
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: Especially like, I think people place a lot of importance on that, like when they're like a new couple, but then there are like uh couples that I know that they celebrated this crap.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: But I there's couples that I know that have been together for like a million years, and for them, Valentine's Day is like just a cool thing that reminds them of like when they first started dating or they first got together.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: I think it just depends on what the importance of that day means for you.
- 4:14SPEAKER_02: And for me, for me, I I just think like, and I and you and I have spoken about this before.
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: I just think if you're gonna show me love and affection, do it every day.
- 4:21SPEAKER_02: Just give me money.
- 4:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, money too.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: I mean, that works.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: But but honestly, like just a little bit more serious.
- 4:27SPEAKER_02: I think there's there's a lot of pressure placed on people and couples, and like everyone goes crazy.
- 4:33SPEAKER_02: Finding the perfect gift, uh getting the best reservations out there, and it's like a hummus.
- 4:38SPEAKER_02: You can't go to any restaurant on that day.
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: Um, and then the the the people who who are single, like they feel so left out.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: I know you know what I want on Valentine's Day.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: I don't want you to take me out to eat.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: I just don't want to cook dinner.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: Like, but I don't want to go out either, but I just don't want to make food.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that alone, I mean, like if you do, that's just like that's the best gift.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: It could be every day, okay not just Valentine's Day.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: But no, I I I agree.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: I think that the concept of Valentine's Day, it just depends, like I said, on what works for you in your relationship.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: Some people are so like take, like, I don't know.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: I I keep saying the word cringy, but that's like the wrong thing.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: No, but it's like a fading.
- 5:15SPEAKER_02: It's like a fad.
- 5:16SPEAKER_02: Like, come on, be different.
- 5:17SPEAKER_02: Like, don't fall into this trap.
- 5:19SPEAKER_02: So, what are they gonna do?
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: They're gonna celebrate each other's love on Christmas.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: Like, what are you gonna talk about?
- 5:22SPEAKER_02: I'm just like anti-holiday in general.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: You are, but that's why it's like what do you mean be different?
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: You can't be different.
- 5:28SPEAKER_02: I just think, honestly, I I don't, I don't, I just don't think it's it's a legit holiday.
- 5:33SPEAKER_02: And like, you know what?
- 5:34SPEAKER_02: Give me the chocolate.
- 5:35SPEAKER_02: It's definitely a hallmark holiday, so let's do it.
- 5:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, give me give me the chocolate without like give me chocolate in midday.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: I I'm all for, you know, for me, it's like if it makes you happy, go for it.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, we was it Cheryl Crow who said that.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: If it makes you happy, then it can't be that bad.
- 5:50SPEAKER_02: Do you actually listen to Cheryl Crow?
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I used to.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: There's some songs.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: That is Cheryl Crow, right?
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: If it makes you happy, it can't be that bad.
- 5:59SPEAKER_02: That's not my kind of music.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: Um shout out to Dana.
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's definitely Dana's music.
- 6:05SPEAKER_02: So we asked people what their plans are for Valentine's Day.
- 6:08SPEAKER_02: Oh, for Valentine's Day.
- 6:09SPEAKER_02: And whether they celebrate it or not, and their thoughts on that.
- 6:12SPEAKER_02: So we got we uh what's her name?
- 6:14SPEAKER_02: Nura uh responded to us.
- 6:16SPEAKER_02: She said, Nope, I'm not celebrating.
- 6:18SPEAKER_02: It's for religious reasons reasons.
- 6:19SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: In other words, love or loving someone is anytime, every time.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 6:24SPEAKER_02: I agree with her.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: I agree with her.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: Totally agree.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: 100%.
- 6:27SPEAKER_02: Um, and then Rama said, Um, I don't celebrate Valentine's Day because of religious views, I guess.
- 6:34SPEAKER_02: Again, and then why she said, Why should there be one day to buy someone flowers and chocolate and celebrate love?
- 6:41SPEAKER_02: It should be every day to make someone smile.
- 6:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you should check out check that out.
- 6:46SPEAKER_02: Um, Mo responded.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: Man, that was funny.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: That was really funny.
- 6:51SPEAKER_02: I do and don't believe in the idea of Valentine's Day.
- 6:54SPEAKER_02: He's kind of unsure.
- 6:56SPEAKER_02: Um, I am not in love at the moment.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: Therefore, therefore, I don't care for it.
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: And I hate on everyone else who celebrates.
- 7:06SPEAKER_02: If I was only that's for you, Mo.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: If I was in love, I definitely definitely would celebrate.
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: Really, I do think it's just an excuse for people to quote, have fun, end quote, with their significant others.
- 7:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I I mean true.
- 7:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, true.
- 7:23SPEAKER_02: Um, Noha uh said, and it took me a while to understand what the hell Noha was saying because she said a word in in Egyptian.
- 7:29SPEAKER_02: I'm like, what?
- 7:30SPEAKER_02: And then I then I remember she says, uh, getting my lib from you and making a lib snow angel in it, and then eating 75% of it that night.
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: Now please explain what lib is.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: Lib is bizarre.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: Lib are these like seeds, either pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds, or and they're a huge like snack time, fun time snack time thing that we do across all of the Middle East.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: We call it lib, they call it bizarr, everybody calls it something else.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: It's good.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: It's good.
- 7:57SPEAKER_02: So clearly, Noha doesn't have any plans for Valentine's Day.
- 8:02SPEAKER_02: Right kind of plan.
- 8:02SPEAKER_02: I mean, that's my kind of plan.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: That's my her plans are my kind of plans too for Valentine's Day.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: What did you get?
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: So I love the responses I got.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: I got one response from a friend where she goes, Nabu.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: I know who that is.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: And then you have I have another friend that's undecided.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: Undecided.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 8:19SPEAKER_02: And I think they're on plans or believing in it.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: I have do you have plans?
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: Is what I said for Valentine's Day.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: Because my my question was, do you my my question was, do you celebrate Valentine's Valentine's Day?
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: Now do you have plans?
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: So this person is undecided on whether or not they're gonna celebrate Valentine's Day.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: I think this year they will.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: Uh another person, one of my other friends said just the first year that she was married, which I thought was hilarious.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: Somebody just LOL'd and was like, no.
- 8:45SPEAKER_02: And then and then it's just the first year and then shit gets real.
- 8:47SPEAKER_02: And then you move on with it.
- 8:48SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: Another friend just LOL, which is like, yeah, no.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: No.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: And another friend was just like, no, no, no.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: We don't celebrate Valentine's Day.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean the majority, I think.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: And it's hilarious.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: So my married friends all are like, nope, no.
- 9:00SPEAKER_02: So the non-married ones are celebrating.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: The undecided person is not married.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: Undecided person is not married and in a new relationship.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: So I get it.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, okay.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: Maybe undecided person needs to, you know.
- 9:14SPEAKER_02: So do you think is this like a I mean, we have followers from different backgrounds, but like, do you think it's like an Arab thing not to believe in this thing?
- 9:21SPEAKER_02: No, I don't think so.
- 9:22SPEAKER_02: Because I have a lot of Arab friends who celebrate.
- 9:23SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: I mean, like, like I said, the Arab world is more like crazy about this stuff than than Yeah.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: But no, and honestly, like um, you know, people, like I said, people of different backgrounds.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: So my friend that celebrated her first year, she's Arab, her husband's not.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: So it's it just depends on like what they did.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: Like I said, at the end of the day, Valentine's Day is Hakifadi.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: Valentine's Day is what you want to make it for your relationship.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: We're not gonna translate what I said.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: So hakifadi means it's BS.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: It's whatever.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: But no, I really think it just whether or you choose to celebrate the holiday because you know it's about love or whatever, I really think it's what you make of it for you.
- 10:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, based on your relationship, I guess.
- 10:05SPEAKER_02: But I mean, look, listen, I'm not here to give relationship advice, but I am talking about.
- 10:08SPEAKER_02: I am not kidding.
- 10:09SPEAKER_02: I'm trying to save you guys some money.
- 10:10SPEAKER_02: Don't give right and you know, don't give don't give the guy a hard time.
- 10:14SPEAKER_02: Like, really.
- 10:14SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, if he doesn't get you that gift or he doesn't, you know, just like let it go.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: Or vice versa, too.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: Vice versa.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: Both don't give the guy a hard time and you don't have an expectation that, you know.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: My whole thing is like, if you have low expectations in general in life, because then it's terrible to me.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's a joke.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: It's a joke.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: Have low expectations.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: It's a joke.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: No, I really think that you don't need to have low expectations, but what you need to do is decide as a couple what works for your relationship.
- 10:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're relationship advice from Penan.
- 10:45SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: What works for like communicate about you, like, you know what?
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: Don't have low expectations.
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: Communicate your expectations.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: Like, if you're somebody who had this dream about celebrating Valentine's Day with a person that you love, maybe you should tell the person that this is your, you know, that you've wanted to do this once, right?
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: Like I know people have like, and I'm not, I'm not gonna say it's not a fantasy, but it's an expectation of what they want to accomplish with the person that they fall in love with, right?
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: So some people have like never celebrated Valentine's Day, and then finally when they meet the right person, they're like, well, I want to experience that.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: They want to experience that.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: So like you should be able to do that.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: Lena is a square.
- 11:24SPEAKER_02: I'm not a square.
- 11:25SPEAKER_02: It's hacky fathy.
- 11:26SPEAKER_02: Like you any, if you love someone, square, you shouldn't have to wait for a holiday to express.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: But what I'm saying is that there are things in society, and then the way that we were raised and what we see and what's been given to us on a silver platter through social media, through traditional media, through you know, the the uh uh consumerism that they place importance on this day.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: So some people have always wanted to celebrate this day with someone they care about.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: Communicate your expectations, is all I'm saying.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: Whether it's about Valentine's Day or about anything else, communicate your expectations because then we know, like if I was somebody that Lena was dating, I would probably know not to take her out on Valentine's Day because she's gonna make fun of me.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: And at that point, we're gonna break up.
- 12:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, probably, definitely.
- 12:13SPEAKER_02: I mean, listen, listen, it like everyone likes to get a gift.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: But you know, but I'm I'll tell you something.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: It's not just about Valentine's Day, I think it's in general.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: Some people, I think when you meet the right person, you find yourself being into things that you may not necessarily have been into.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so like that's true, and that's kind of how I look at Valentine's Day or anything else.
- 12:29SPEAKER_02: So, like But it's not just the other person.
- 12:31SPEAKER_02: I think like I mean, there's some things you obviously agree on with the person you're with, you know.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: So this is one thing but I I I I yes, agree agree on, but I also think like it just depends on like each relationship is is different.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: So like sometimes when you meet somebody and you just met, and I I do believe sometimes that people are like kindred spirits or souls, or sometimes you meet someone and it feels like you've known them a lifetime, and you don't have to communicate your expectations because they just get you, right?
- 13:01SPEAKER_02: But that's something you have to communicate.
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: But that necessarily may not be the it's like no, I disagree with you on that point too.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: Can I joke?
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: Can a girl joke?
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: This is a serious conversation.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: Okay, sorry.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: No, but I feel like sometimes you're like I said, when you meet people, your kindred spirit, that person may not necessarily be your significant person.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: No, I get it.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: They get you.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: So they get yeah, I understand.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: So, like, like you and I, we have like an unspoken language.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's true.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: We get each other definitely.
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: But sometimes your spouse, like you love that person, but communication needs to be a little bit different.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then sometimes it's amazing for some people, and I know a few people like that, that their spouse is their kindred spirit.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: It's their they just like these people get each other.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so like I have proper connection, right?
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like there's this one person I know, and the way that he speaks about his wife, like she's his best friend, she's and it's just the that's nice, and they're older couple, like it's the cutest thing ever.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: Like, it literally, like it makes me so happy to see.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: Um, but all I'm saying is like he celebrate Valentine's Day, yes, okay.
- 14:04SPEAKER_00: See, yeah, but I think it's because they they it's like their thing.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: Okay, you know what I mean like that's cool, that's cool.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they it literally it's like one of the things that they enjoy doing together.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: But then I have another friend who, you know, is like in a relationship and cringy, but like you would never think that person's cringy.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: Does it be?
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: What do you mean?
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: How are is the relationship cringy or no?
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: No, it's an amazing relationship, but I think it's like they never thought that they would be this affectionate towards each other.
- 14:31SPEAKER_02: Or like, okay.
- 14:31SPEAKER_02: So I think that that's cute too.
- 14:33SPEAKER_02: And then I'm there's nothing worse than a like overtly.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: But not infinite, not infinite.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: No, no, no, hold on.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: No, I just think to each other, like but I think it's also because it's like, oh my gosh, this person makes me so happy.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: And then like I look at um, I look at like other friends who, you know, like again, and it it's not about being Arab or Middle Eastern or they're kind of all over the place and all over the map from where they come from.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: But I think it's like their expectations of their spouse are that, or their significant other or whatever, is that I don't need for you to love me just on this day.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I whatever you're planning on doing on the 14th of February, can you do it like on the 12th of January or on the 16th of November?
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: Like, so it's just yeah, that's how they are.
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: It's like I don't need for you to buy me overpriced flowers to show me that you love me.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: But then other people I go back and say flowers are overrated too.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: You are insane.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: I love flowers.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: Um, I think flowers are beautiful.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, they're okay, but it's just like they die.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: No, I think flowers are beautiful and they live for a long time.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: I prefer chocolate.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: If you take that's fine, you can have the chocolate, but flowers are not overrated.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: Flowers are beautiful and they bring life into any space.
- 15:39SPEAKER_02: I still wonder how we're friends sometimes.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: But that's the thing about being kindred spirits.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: Like you have you don't have to be the same person.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: You just have to be, you just have to understand each other.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you have to get each other.
- 15:50SPEAKER_02: But I think you know, I think for me, what's more important than celebrating a holiday like this is like take care of me always.
- 15:56SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 15:57SPEAKER_02: And like you said, like I not expect me to make dinner.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think that's more important than anything.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it's a rude awakening when you find that that you're the adult responsible for that.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's like shit, I gotta make food.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but I honestly, like, I for me, Valentine's Day is one of those things that, like, do you, boo.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: You like it, celebrate it.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: You don't like it, don't celebrate it.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna hate on you for celebrating it.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna, you know, enjoy.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: Live your life.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: If this brings you joy, do it.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: I won't hate on them, but I will make fun of them.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: I wouldn't do that either.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I would not make fun of you.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: Again, if it brings you joy, I support that.
- 16:31SPEAKER_02: Again, I'm joking.
- 16:33SPEAKER_02: Like, like I agree with Hanan to each their own, whatever, but like it's not for me.
- 16:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and then that's fine.
- 16:38SPEAKER_02: It's not for me.
- 16:39SPEAKER_02: And I just, like I said, haki fadi.
- 16:41SPEAKER_02: You guys learned a new word if you don't speak Arabi.
- 16:43SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 16:43SPEAKER_02: Now you have a phrase hakifadi.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: Seriously.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: No, it's not, it's not.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: That's how Lena feels.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: I don't feel like it's haki.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: I mean, I personally don't really celebrate Valentine's Day, whatever.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: It's a whatever day for me.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: Um, but I do like really care about, like I said, communicating properly, your needs, wants, desires on a regular basis.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: Am I great at it?
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: No.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you are.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: You can communicate your needs.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: Yes, but what I'm saying is, like, in every like, think about it like this.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: What I'm saying is, am I great at it?
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: No, because it's like you're you're a constant work in progress.
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: So, like, I think even so like I don't know.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: I think I'm perfect.
- 17:24SPEAKER_02: I'm just saying.
- 17:27SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 17:29SPEAKER_02: I mean, like, who wouldn't want this?
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: I mean, listen, I think.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: Or the girl who doesn't eat any shit, not adventurous.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: Adventurous, I'm just not adventurous with food.
- 17:41SPEAKER_02: She is not adventurous.
- 17:42SPEAKER_02: Oh my god, you you clear that's just so offensive to me right now.
- 17:46SPEAKER_02: How could you?
- 17:46SPEAKER_02: How am I not adventurous?
- 17:48SPEAKER_02: How are you not adventurous?
- 17:49SPEAKER_02: I'm adventurous.
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: If you tell Lena, let's go out after nun, she's like, Are you sure about that?
- 17:54SPEAKER_02: It's gotta cut into my relaxation time.
- 17:57SPEAKER_02: That's not that's not a fair portrayal of the situation.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: Lena, the the most adventurous she ever was is when I made her eat caviar here at this very dining room.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: That's not true.
- 18:09SPEAKER_02: I'm very adventurous.
- 18:09SPEAKER_02: She just, you know.
- 18:11SPEAKER_02: What, because she took a helicopter ride once in your life?
- 18:14SPEAKER_02: I've done other things.
- 18:15SPEAKER_02: Likewise.
- 18:16SPEAKER_02: I've done other things that cannot be said on here.
- 18:18SPEAKER_02: That kind of adventurous.
- 18:20SPEAKER_02: That's not the adventurous we're interested in.
- 18:22SPEAKER_02: No, no, no.

- 18:41SPEAKER_02: Halas, I think this was an interesting conversation.
- 18:43SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.

- 18:47SPEAKER_00: No.
