- 0:08Speaker 1: And I invited you here. I thought I made myself
- 0:14Speaker 1: perfectly clear. When you're a guest to my home, you
- 0:21Speaker 1: gotta come to me empty. And I said, no, guests,
- 0:27Speaker 1: your own presences presence enough. And I already had too
- 0:33Speaker 1: much stuff, So how do you.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Dare to surbey me? Welcome to I said, no gifts.
- 0:52Speaker 2: I'm prettyer winegarl. We're here in the studio. I hope
- 0:58Speaker 2: you're doing. I hope you're doing as well as your
- 1:00Speaker 2: circumstances and brain chemistry allow. I'm fine. What's happening this morning? Well,
- 1:06Speaker 2: on the way here, I saw a license plate cover
- 1:09Speaker 2: that said a happy wife is spoiled by hobby, which
- 1:13Speaker 2: I thought was cute, real sweet. That was on the
- 1:15Speaker 2: back of a gray mini van. So true, and that
- 1:19Speaker 2: kind of brightened my morning. I've unfortunately tried to go
- 1:22Speaker 2: to home depot. I need a new pot.
- 1:23Speaker 3: It was a.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Disaster, huge mistake. Every pot they had was either boring
- 1:27Speaker 2: or tacky. So now I have to think of another
- 1:30Speaker 2: place to buy a pot. Where else do you buy
- 1:32Speaker 2: a pot? I feel like I had one other thing
- 1:36Speaker 2: to complain about, and I can't remember what it was.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Maybe that'll come up during conversation. But I think that's everything.
- 1:43Speaker 2: I think we should just get into the podcast. Let
- 1:45Speaker 2: me see, let me look at my notes. No, we're good.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Our guest is fantastic. Truly, everybody loves this person. It's
- 1:52Speaker 2: John Marcos Arasi.
- 1:54Speaker 3: I don't know that that's very generous.
- 1:56Speaker 2: I would say a large chunk of people love the
- 2:00Speaker 2: people that get it.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Okay, good? Yeah, yeah, I think I would win the
- 2:04Speaker 3: popular vote right now by a slim A slim about.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Who isn't liking you right now?
- 2:11Speaker 3: Oh gosh, I mean, I mean there's definitely I'm canceling.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Like I'm saying yes to too many things. Okay, sure,
- 2:21Speaker 3: and it's like reaching that thresholder, I'm like, stop saying
- 2:24Speaker 3: yes to these things. You then cancel the day before.
- 2:27Speaker 3: And I'm talking like comedy shows like stand up shows
- 2:29Speaker 3: in New York, small.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Show or friends shows that kind of thing.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Yeah, and I'm friends, but like just like up and coming.
- 2:36Speaker 3: I remember when I had a weekly show and it
- 2:39Speaker 3: was like the headliner. I was paying them twenty five
- 2:41Speaker 3: bucks and day of they'd cancel and I'd be like,
- 2:46Speaker 3: how could you do this to us? You're the big
- 2:49Speaker 3: picture on the fly or we made that in Canva.
- 2:52Speaker 3: It took me three hours. How could you do this
- 2:54Speaker 3: to me?
- 2:54Speaker 2: Of course?
- 2:55Speaker 3: And now I see you're doing that happening well right,
- 2:59Speaker 3: So I imagine there's some people that are bothered.
- 3:02Speaker 2: But are you usually pretty dependable? Do you feel like
- 3:05Speaker 2: I think? I mean, you got here right on time,
- 3:08Speaker 2: which was so nice.
- 3:09Speaker 3: I was chastised for being late at like a summer
- 3:14Speaker 3: camp once in a way that was so intense it
- 3:16Speaker 3: rewired right like it was a musical theater camp. He
- 3:21Speaker 3: had been on Broadway once since it was like this
- 3:24Speaker 3: an older guy and I don't know. He was offering
- 3:27Speaker 3: to give me a little private lesson before the class
- 3:30Speaker 3: in the morning, and I just shaving took longer and
- 3:33Speaker 3: I was a little late, and he dreamed me. He
- 3:38Speaker 3: yelled at this sex seven thirty in the morning, and
- 3:41Speaker 3: then he made me do the lesson as the class
- 3:44Speaker 3: was shuffling in.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Oh, how humiliating.
- 3:46Speaker 3: And it was like a tenor song that was too
- 3:48Speaker 3: high for me. And I hadn't warmed up properly, so
- 3:51Speaker 3: I'm just cracking just could be who knows as the
- 3:58Speaker 3: class is shuffling in and and he was like very mad.
- 4:02Speaker 3: I think I appropriately showed how much shame I felt,
- 4:05Speaker 3: and at the end of the class he gave me
- 4:06Speaker 3: like a I appreciate how bad you feel. I know
- 4:10Speaker 3: that you didn't mean what you did right and all
- 4:12Speaker 3: was forgiven.
- 4:13Speaker 2: He felt some earnest repentance. Yes, wow, I mean that's Broadway.
- 4:18Speaker 2: That's Broadway baby.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Yeah yeah.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Wait. So did you do musical theater growing up? Or
- 4:23Speaker 2: was this just like a one off?
- 4:24Speaker 3: Then I did a lot of musical theater summer camps.
- 4:26Speaker 3: I went to college for musical theater. No way, it
- 4:30Speaker 3: was what I wanted, right, And then I just singing.
- 4:35Speaker 3: I just hit a wall. I kind of got. I
- 4:38Speaker 3: had one teacher who I would like. The school didn't
- 4:40Speaker 3: want me to see this teacher because it was back home.
- 4:43Speaker 3: It was like my high school teacher, and they were like,
- 4:45Speaker 3: we have better teachers here. I secretly saw her on
- 4:51Speaker 3: the side. How was salacious yet felt it was really.
- 4:54Speaker 3: I mean, it's insane looking back, but I would go
- 4:57Speaker 3: into the voice booths and I would spend hours there
- 5:00Speaker 3: every day. I was obsessive, and I was so scared
- 5:03Speaker 3: of being caught in this gigantic campus University of Miami.
- 5:07Speaker 3: I would bring my blanket and I would stuff it
- 5:11Speaker 3: into the corners of the little private wind yeah, and
- 5:14Speaker 3: it would end by these And I was sweating in
- 5:17Speaker 3: these booths in Miami, secretly having an hour lesson for
- 5:21Speaker 3: no one. No one was catching me, and everyone.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Knew what I was doing, right, Clearly something was going on.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Yeah, Jamark is missing three hours every day? What is
- 5:31Speaker 3: he doing? What's that? Why is that window covered of
- 5:34Speaker 3: course with a blue fuzzy blanket.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like, well, they hope he's doing he's singing
- 5:38Speaker 2: back there, yeah, yeah, and uh.
- 5:41Speaker 3: And I'm sure it was like a gross play. It's like,
- 5:43Speaker 3: oh that, why is that blanket of comestans on?
- 5:45Speaker 2: Like it from home?
- 5:46Speaker 3: Yes? And so I just saw her, and I I
- 5:51Speaker 3: believe that she was like it. It was a little bit
- 5:53Speaker 3: of a cult, like she has all the answers, right,
- 5:57Speaker 3: And then you had seen your year and you're like,
- 6:00Speaker 3: I'm not Pavatti and I'm in voice lessons again. Now
- 6:05Speaker 3: it's it's a decade later of like quitting and now
- 6:08Speaker 3: I'm like flirting with it and singing a little more.
- 6:13Speaker 3: And my girlfriend, she's she doesn't care about music. She
- 6:17Speaker 3: was raised. She says, let's tell people it's habad, which
- 6:21Speaker 3: is like a subsect of no one is. And she
- 6:25Speaker 3: tells me she just stop saying habbad. No one knows
- 6:27Speaker 3: what it is, and I go, let me educate them.
- 6:29Speaker 3: And no music really growing up? Whoa so my singing?
- 6:35Speaker 3: I think about the women who I'm not saying be everything,
- 6:40Speaker 3: but they might be wooed. They might hear me some
- 6:43Speaker 3: enchanted evening and go, oh how nice, how sexy this bird? Nothing.
- 6:49Speaker 2: It just doesn't make sense to her, like her brain basically.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like there's no you know, so much of
- 6:56Speaker 3: music I think is connected to like nostalgia and our
- 6:59Speaker 3: certain age going through puberty. I don't and that's missing.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Wow.
- 7:04Speaker 3: So she likes Joseph and the Amazing Technical or dream Code.
- 7:06Speaker 3: That was the one you doesn't Bible friendly musical for
- 7:09Speaker 3: the religious community.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Oh they were allowed to listen to that.
- 7:13Speaker 3: It wasn't even a it was just had they owned
- 7:16Speaker 3: the VHS. Okay, But like she told me a story
- 7:19Speaker 3: in high school where it was like the kids they
- 7:21Speaker 3: found out she was listening to Britney Spears and like
- 7:23Speaker 3: as an insult, they were like, why don't you just
- 7:25Speaker 3: go listen to Britney Spears and the shame she all
- 7:29Speaker 3: threw it away. So it's like Britney Spears justin in
- 7:33Speaker 3: the amazing technical dream code nothing and then Klezmer music.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Wow, Wow, what sort of music are you singing? Old
- 7:42Speaker 2: show tunes?
- 7:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I wish I could sing more pop stuff, but
- 7:46Speaker 3: I'm singing Rogers and Hammerstein, I'm singing Sondheim, singing William
- 7:52Speaker 3: finn is my favorite Falsetto's and so it's still a
- 7:57Speaker 3: little more classical. And I'm trying to learn how to
- 7:59Speaker 3: do pop now. All right, it's all very tenory. All
- 8:02Speaker 3: that pops uf is so tenery. It's tough.
- 8:04Speaker 2: This is what I complain about male pop singers all
- 8:08Speaker 2: the time. For whatever reason. I will listen to female
- 8:11Speaker 2: pop singers NonStop. Yeah, the best women pop singers. But
- 8:15Speaker 2: when a man is singing pop music, it's like one
- 8:17Speaker 2: out of fifty isn't irritating?
- 8:19Speaker 3: Yeah? Is it too? Is it just too high? It's
- 8:22Speaker 3: just like I.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Think it's just uh no, it's just too corny. Most
- 8:27Speaker 2: of the time. I think there's like a weird earnestness
- 8:29Speaker 2: to it that doesn't work. And yeah, I don't know
- 8:33Speaker 2: what it is.
- 8:33Speaker 3: I'm so you don't feel like with the women, do
- 8:35Speaker 3: you feel like you have more of an allowance for
- 8:38Speaker 3: the woman to be corny, because like corniness is but
- 8:43Speaker 3: my girlfriend we see musicals and she goes, it's so corny, right,
- 8:48Speaker 3: And I'm like, okay, you were raised religiously, Like come.
- 8:51Speaker 2: On, who are do you say anything?
- 8:53Speaker 3: But like, I think the answer is like we all
- 8:56Speaker 3: have acceptance for corny in different arenas, right, And I
- 9:00Speaker 3: understand if you if if, but like, why is it easier?
- 9:04Speaker 2: I think one theory that was given to me by
- 9:07Speaker 2: Lewis Vertell former guests, He said that women sell yearning
- 9:11Speaker 2: better than men. You can actually you feel like the
- 9:13Speaker 2: pain is actually there. And then when men are singing,
- 9:17Speaker 2: it's it's too smooth or something. You don't feel like
- 9:20Speaker 2: real any texture. But I like, I'll listen to like
- 9:23Speaker 2: male rock singers. I see it's a different thing.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Yeah, well, so who do you like men? Like like
- 9:29Speaker 3: Justin Timberlake in his prime? Was he good?
- 9:31Speaker 2: I didn't mind Justin Timberlake before we knew too much,
- 9:34Speaker 2: before we know when he had the like those first
- 9:36Speaker 2: couple of albums were good, Yeah, pop music. But after that,
- 9:40Speaker 2: who are we talking about?
- 9:44Speaker 3: Not as many?
- 9:45Speaker 2: Yeah, there just simply aren't many good ones.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Bruno Mars is cool, you know John Legend.
- 9:52Speaker 2: John Legend's not really pop more R and B. Yeah, yeah,
- 9:56Speaker 2: I mean that's where you get into the category of
- 9:58Speaker 2: like Usher or these. I don't that sure, it's just
- 10:01Speaker 2: when it's strictly popped, there's just a And I love
- 10:04Speaker 2: corniness and musicals. I actually prefer a corny music really.
- 10:07Speaker 2: I love when a musical is not trying to be cool.
- 10:09Speaker 3: What's your musicals? What are your what are your favorites?
- 10:11Speaker 2: I don't have. My boyfriend is like a Broadway vet,
- 10:14Speaker 2: and I know so little about musicals. It's humiliating. But
- 10:18Speaker 2: I saw, for example, I saw Hello Dolly when Bette
- 10:20Speaker 2: Midler was in it. Okay, sure, unbelievable. What an experience. Yeah,
- 10:24Speaker 2: just embracing the core and you can.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Tap into that.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Sure, when it's like more like trying to be edgy
- 10:30Speaker 2: or cool, I have to back away, just like because
- 10:32Speaker 2: it's it's simply not Yes.
- 10:34Speaker 3: What are some of your favorites. Falsetto's is my favorite
- 10:37Speaker 3: musical hands down. It's just a special one for me.
- 10:40Speaker 3: And then all of the song times. But I think Company,
- 10:45Speaker 3: I like the musical nine you know that if I'm
- 10:47Speaker 3: looking like back to the Hello Dolly, because I did
- 10:49Speaker 3: Cornelius and yeah, that's great. It was a lot of fun.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Those corny ones. It just takes like a second to
- 10:56Speaker 3: really get into them. But I like, I mean, I mean,
- 11:01Speaker 3: you know, Oklahoma is a beautiful one. Hello Dolly is
- 11:03Speaker 3: a beautiful one. What what else is? Jerry Herman Mame
- 11:07Speaker 3: is good? South Pacific is put But I got to
- 11:11Speaker 3: be in the right mood, right, I really got to
- 11:13Speaker 3: enter it.
- 11:13Speaker 2: And like music Man, Oh of course.
- 11:16Speaker 3: I did that in eighth grade. If I've done it,
- 11:19Speaker 3: it automatically enters the favorite territory. But music Man's fantastic.
- 11:22Speaker 3: I don't think, Hugh Jackman, you you cannot be that
- 11:27Speaker 3: good looking and play some of these roles. Right he
- 11:31Speaker 3: goes into seduce the librarian. I think she'd go short.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Of course.
- 11:35Speaker 3: I don't care who what your thoughts are got, You
- 11:37Speaker 3: gotta earn it. So I do think I do think
- 11:39Speaker 3: some of those movie stars, I'm like, I'm like, Okay,
- 11:43Speaker 3: not this one. You don't get to do this one.
- 11:44Speaker 3: You got everything.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Else, I know. I mean, we've entered that era of
- 11:48Speaker 2: every movie star doing all everything.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Yeah, why don't you just be a movie star? Jake
- 11:53Speaker 3: Jonhall did Seymour in a little Shop of for It?
- 11:55Speaker 2: Oh what that makes no sense to me? Rick moranis
- 11:59Speaker 2: exactly what are we talking about? Not that Rick moranis
- 12:04Speaker 2: isn't a great looking guy, but he's kind of a geek.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Nobody's got to earn it.
- 12:07Speaker 2: He's a geek.
- 12:08Speaker 3: He's a geek.
- 12:08Speaker 2: He's a cute geek. Yeah, but Jillen Hall is like,
- 12:12Speaker 2: just like an objectively.
- 12:13Speaker 3: Beautiful human being. What are you doing?
- 12:15Speaker 2: I will say? In Zodiac he plays a good like
- 12:18Speaker 2: kind of nerd kind of like.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Yeah, you could be a good actor. But it's like,
- 12:21Speaker 3: but what about giving it to the person who can't
- 12:25Speaker 3: play They can't play Wolverine, Yah, can't play that guy.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Representation and just kind of weird. We don't really talk.
- 12:34Speaker 3: About representation when it comes to like looks because it's
- 12:37Speaker 3: too hard a conversation because it the mid people would
- 12:41Speaker 3: need to acknowledge.
- 12:42Speaker 2: That they're mid. Right, Yes, and when you're an actor
- 12:44Speaker 2: you really have to just act like you're the best
- 12:46Speaker 2: of the best. Yeah, even in Look.
- 12:48Speaker 3: But I'll acknowledge it. I should be music man over check.
- 12:53Speaker 3: It came down to you and Jack for some reason.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Yeah, did you see him in that?
- 13:00Speaker 3: No? I didn't see him in that. I've never met him. Okay,
- 13:03Speaker 3: we'd have a good I think we'd have a good
- 13:05Speaker 3: I'd be able to connect with them on musical theater
- 13:07Speaker 3: for sure, right, and I would do that. You people
- 13:09Speaker 3: people say, they'll say I look like Hugh Jackman, but
- 13:12Speaker 3: with an adjective that makes it hurtful, So it's just.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Leave it at huge Jacks. That's a great one because
- 13:18Speaker 2: I've been I have been recently reminding people don't tell
- 13:21Speaker 2: people who they look like unless it's somebody who's really
- 13:24Speaker 2: good looking.
- 13:24Speaker 3: Hugh Jackman.
- 13:26Speaker 2: You could go a year on that compliment. But then
- 13:28Speaker 2: if there's an adjective yeah.
- 13:30Speaker 3: It's yeah, you gotta resist. I mean, I get a
- 13:32Speaker 3: lot of Jeff Goldblum, Oh interesting, I get a lot
- 13:35Speaker 3: of I get Hugh Jackman now and then, but it'll
- 13:38Speaker 3: be skinny Hugh Jackman. It'll be jewish Hugh Jackman. Who's
- 13:41Speaker 3: telling you. I mean, everyone the internet roast battles. Just generally,
- 13:48Speaker 3: I get a lot of gay Hugh Jackman, and I goes,
- 13:51Speaker 3: you need to look at Hugh Jackman a little bit.
- 13:52Speaker 2: More gay, Huge Jackman, well google Hugh Jackman.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Yeah, we won't say too much. But she was a
- 14:07Speaker 2: great guy. And he loves Broadway and he's got a
- 14:09Speaker 2: lot of Broadway, a lot of jazzy elements.
- 14:12Speaker 3: And he's dating he's staying son Foster, who we met
- 14:14Speaker 3: on the music ma'am.
- 14:16Speaker 2: They're best friends. Yeah, they met in the school play
- 14:19Speaker 2: and their best friends.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Yes, it's a beautiful thing.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Now that you're starting to take voice lessonses, they're like
- 14:27Speaker 2: some hope, like, oh, maybe I'll audition for musical like
- 14:30Speaker 2: actual Broadway.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Yeah. I just think there are people who have done well,
- 14:36Speaker 3: like they were a movie star, right going to musical
- 14:39Speaker 3: theater and they get lauded and celebrated, and the bitch
- 14:43Speaker 3: that I am, I sit there and I go, are
- 14:46Speaker 3: we all gaslighting each other right now? They are fine?
- 14:50Speaker 3: They should not be on Broadway, and I am just
- 14:55Speaker 3: I go, I don't want to be the I don't
- 14:58Speaker 3: want to be the bad person and in the good thing.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Right the whole community is like eh.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Yeah or there or it's just it happens with stand
- 15:05Speaker 3: up comedians a lot, especially right now, is like stand
- 15:08Speaker 3: ups like cool and buzzy, hot, it's like I see
- 15:11Speaker 3: and I'm not. I'm not talking about everyone doing it
- 15:14Speaker 3: because I know too many friends.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Of course, I don't want I.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Don't want to be the one that they go, wow,
- 15:19Speaker 3: he got it to the end of the song. He
- 15:21Speaker 3: got to the end.
- 15:22Speaker 2: He remembered all the words.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Remembered all the words. And I think my voice teacher
- 15:29Speaker 3: is like, I tell him, you know, I do a
- 15:31Speaker 3: thing called theater adult and I have like someone on
- 15:33Speaker 3: and like, you know, uh, Laura Bananty's doing it soon
- 15:36Speaker 3: and these are big right names. And I feel like
- 15:39Speaker 3: my voice teacher he really is like he if I
- 15:45Speaker 3: get a musical, and I do think it will happen,
- 15:47Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I'll do a little stint and something.
- 15:48Speaker 2: I think you're on your way to you know, they're
- 15:50Speaker 2: gonna be They're gonna want to be like John Marco.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Of course, this is the perfect person to slot into
- 15:54Speaker 2: this role.
- 15:55Speaker 3: I can tell my voice teacher doesn't respect me as
- 15:59Speaker 3: a singer, and I think that's yet, but also with
- 16:03Speaker 3: an air of like never walking off the stage. Yes,
- 16:09Speaker 3: and I think that's good. I think I'm drawn to
- 16:13Speaker 3: people who don't respect me because I go, you will
- 16:16Speaker 3: keep me grounded of course in a world where no
- 16:19Speaker 3: one else will ground me. Right, But I do think
- 16:22Speaker 3: i'll do something or i'll do I want to just
- 16:25Speaker 3: try to keep it, like, hey, come see me, I'll
- 16:27Speaker 3: do a reading of Falsetto's. Tickets are cheap, or we're
- 16:31Speaker 3: raising money for a thing, you're doing it. I saw
- 16:35Speaker 3: Eliza Minelli in concert in high school and it felt
- 16:38Speaker 3: like we were doing a favor for her being there.
- 16:43Speaker 3: And she's a legend. But this was like, this was top.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Right, this is probably you know, arrested development, Liza.
- 16:51Speaker 3: We're doing it because I love you. I want to
- 16:54Speaker 3: be here and see you. And as long as that's
- 16:57Speaker 3: the premise of the event, I go far. If i'm selling,
- 17:01Speaker 3: like come see me, reinvent this classic role and we
- 17:07Speaker 3: lowered the key and you paid one hundred and fifty bars,
- 17:11Speaker 3: and then I feel like then something has gone wrong.
- 17:13Speaker 3: It's robbery, yeah, and I just want to avoid that. Right.
- 17:17Speaker 2: I feel like you've went to college for it. You're
- 17:19Speaker 2: actually you're so far ahead of other people who tried.
- 17:22Speaker 3: It doesn't work like that. It's like, well, I have
- 17:24Speaker 3: a degree in it, so it is good. But you
- 17:27Speaker 3: always have a.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Bedrock to build from whereas some others stand up who
- 17:32Speaker 2: like sings in the car and that's all their experience.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Yeah, but then you see a singer like Mattel Lane's
- 17:38Speaker 3: a stand up where it's like he could. I mean,
- 17:40Speaker 3: it's a voice from God, and you go, well, what
- 17:43Speaker 3: are you gonna do?
- 17:44Speaker 2: But put him on Broadway and you're gonna get those
- 17:46Speaker 2: Broadway message boards are gonna light up, You're gonna have
- 17:49Speaker 2: opinions no matter what.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Yeah, the Broadway community is it's a new particular. It's particular.
- 17:55Speaker 2: You've really got to earn it.
- 17:57Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I mean it's so hard. I'm getting to
- 18:00Speaker 3: a place where I can't shit talk the way that
- 18:02Speaker 3: I used to.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Isn't that a nightmare? It is a shame.
- 18:07Speaker 3: It is because I prized I like to chit talk
- 18:10Speaker 3: and that's part of my the best feeling in the world. Dang,
- 18:13Speaker 3: but I've gotten It's now like it's I'm starting to
- 18:16Speaker 3: feel not even bad. But like I did a venue
- 18:19Speaker 3: recently and a manager can room and said, hey, so
- 18:21Speaker 3: we work with this other venue and I know you
- 18:23Speaker 3: had a problem with them, and I was like, what
- 18:24Speaker 3: do you mean. He said, Well, there was a podcast.
- 18:27Speaker 3: I guess you can plain, and I didn't even remember
- 18:29Speaker 3: it because she was like, what can we do to
- 18:31Speaker 3: make it better? And I was like, I swear to god,
- 18:34Speaker 3: I was just like exaggerating a small complaint for comedic effect.
- 18:38Speaker 2: We are fine, but there's going to be some positive change.
- 18:42Speaker 2: They're going to look into whatever that complaint was.
- 18:44Speaker 3: I mean I could abuse it for sure, of course. Yeah.
- 18:47Speaker 2: I feel like you're right at the level, Like next
- 18:49Speaker 2: level you get to, you'll be able to ship talk
- 18:50Speaker 2: whoever you want, whenever you want, and it will only
- 18:53Speaker 2: be for well, at least for your good.
- 18:56Speaker 3: My girlfriend very wisely, and she's an entertainment and very smart.
- 19:00Speaker 3: She said, you can decide publicly, are you going to
- 19:05Speaker 3: be criticizing comedians for their politics or for being bad comedians?
- 19:10Speaker 3: And she said basically, if you choose to do both,
- 19:14Speaker 3: you can't be surprised if you don't have a lot
- 19:16Speaker 3: of friends. And because because I would do the thing
- 19:20Speaker 3: where I'd shit talk and then I'd come to her
- 19:22Speaker 3: and be like, well, someone gave me a weird look
- 19:24Speaker 3: at a thing, and She's like, yeah, of course you
- 19:26Speaker 3: said they sucked, And so I took it to heart
- 19:30Speaker 3: and I've got really hard in the political realm of
- 19:33Speaker 3: shit talk, and so I'm you know, trying to keep
- 19:36Speaker 3: more to the group chats the people I don't respect.
- 19:39Speaker 2: It's a safer route to go. I mean it probably
- 19:42Speaker 2: ultimately in long term in life, you're going to want
- 19:45Speaker 2: to continue shit talking to political ones. You're never going
- 19:47Speaker 2: to get into the same You're never going to care
- 19:49Speaker 2: that they looked at you.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Man. Yeah, I think it's just that thing where it's
- 19:52Speaker 3: like you'd see an artist you admire promote something and
- 19:56Speaker 3: then you saw and you said that was terrible. Why
- 19:57Speaker 3: did my artist that I loved lie to me? And
- 19:59Speaker 3: it's like, well, because that's their friend.
- 20:02Speaker 2: That's the Internet.
- 20:03Speaker 3: It's because the person might not be gone on stage,
- 20:04Speaker 3: but they're great at dinner. And that's just how oh.
- 20:08Speaker 2: My god, I mean, going to see movies, watching TV
- 20:10Speaker 2: shows at this point you'll be You'll start up. You're like, oh,
- 20:13Speaker 2: I saw nothing but praise for this. I think, like
- 20:15Speaker 2: this is one of the worst pieces of art I
- 20:17Speaker 2: have ever consumed. What's going on? And you're like, oh right,
- 20:20Speaker 2: people are friends with each other, yeah, and we have
- 20:22Speaker 2: to say nice things about friends. But then yeah, in
- 20:25Speaker 2: group chat that you're lighting it up. I mean, there
- 20:28Speaker 2: are particular people that are just almost legends within group chats.
- 20:31Speaker 3: I think the worst, the worst, the most toxic thing
- 20:33Speaker 3: is when they someone you don't respect does something publicly
- 20:37Speaker 3: and then you look at the comments just to be like, good,
- 20:42Speaker 3: good someone someone say speaking, someone's saying it. I don't
- 20:45Speaker 3: have like a burner account. I'm not that petty, but
- 20:48Speaker 3: I'll look at the comments.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Oh, of course thee I have one friend who's outside
- 20:52Speaker 2: of the business, who still consumes a lot of things,
- 20:55Speaker 2: and he seems so free o. His Instagram story is
- 20:58Speaker 2: just saying exactly how he feels about everything. I'm like,
- 21:00Speaker 2: I remember the time when I could just complain on
- 21:02Speaker 2: the internet. It's just not really an option anymore, less
- 21:06Speaker 2: and less, less and less. But now the career goal
- 21:09Speaker 2: is just get to a place where I can I
- 21:12Speaker 2: can just absolutely know.
- 21:13Speaker 3: But then there's always you know them, you meet them,
- 21:16Speaker 3: you meet them. That's like I did. I hosted a
- 21:19Speaker 3: rally for Zorron this week. Oh wow, good for you,
- 21:22Speaker 3: thank you everybody. That's yeah, everyone everyone's thinking good for me,
- 21:26Speaker 3: of course. But it's one of those things where I'm like,
- 21:29Speaker 3: you meet these people and you feel a human thing
- 21:34Speaker 3: and the idea of then being able to go on
- 21:36Speaker 3: a show and being like, you know, if they say
- 21:38Speaker 3: do something that you disagree with, to be like fuck
- 21:40Speaker 3: that person. But they were so nice to me. And
- 21:42Speaker 3: then I can see the trajectory from that to Bill
- 21:45Speaker 3: Maher being like Trump gave me a really nice dinner,
- 21:48Speaker 3: and you go, what the fuck what happened? You go,
- 21:50Speaker 3: you shouldn't have gone to that dinner. We can't help it.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Of course someone's nice to you, that's the problem. You
- 21:55Speaker 3: shouldn't meet these people. So it's just like it was
- 21:58Speaker 3: just I'm a little it's a little close, and I
- 22:00Speaker 3: go careful, careful, careful, But I feel like you're still
- 22:04Speaker 3: throwing bombs. I yeah, but I said him, I said, listen,
- 22:09Speaker 3: if you win, I can't. I have to critique you.
- 22:13Speaker 3: I have to. And he was like give me one
- 22:16Speaker 3: term and I'm like okay. I didn't. But I was
- 22:19Speaker 3: like okay. And it's like ah ah, you can't be charmed.
- 22:24Speaker 2: No, it's over for you.
- 22:25Speaker 3: It's over. And that's corruption, and that's getting older.
- 22:28Speaker 2: You get older and you become corrupted.
- 22:30Speaker 3: Yes, and then the older people say the younger people
- 22:31Speaker 3: you don't understand. And the younger people go, no, you're
- 22:33Speaker 3: full of shit, and it's true, of course, and you're like,
- 22:35Speaker 3: but I'm old and I just want to be a
- 22:37Speaker 3: little comfortable.
- 22:38Speaker 2: I won't be around much longer. Let me just die.
- 22:41Speaker 3: That's the part I think about it is like when
- 22:43Speaker 3: you look at the youth and you go because the
- 22:46Speaker 3: older people go like, the youth are crazy, and you
- 22:48Speaker 3: go like, can you not at least step outside yourself
- 22:51Speaker 3: and go When I was the youth, I looked at
- 22:53Speaker 3: this like this, and but as you get older, you're like,
- 22:55Speaker 3: I get it, and you're slowly just being chipped away, and.
- 23:00Speaker 2: I mean speaking of inappropriate things and just complaining and
- 23:04Speaker 2: criticizing something I'd like to criticize you for.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Please.
- 23:07Speaker 2: I was excited to have you here on the podcast today.
- 23:09Speaker 2: I thought, John Marc will come by, we'll have a
- 23:12Speaker 2: nice time, and then we'll move on. The podcast is
- 23:15Speaker 2: called I said no gifts, So I was a little
- 23:17Speaker 2: surprised when your uber screeched into the parking lot and
- 23:22Speaker 2: you stepped out holding what was obviously a gift.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Yes, I I can't out myself, no self control, no
- 23:31Speaker 3: self control, and you know, there's just an abundance. So
- 23:34Speaker 3: I actually to make it worse, it's it's it's kind
- 23:37Speaker 3: of a two parter. Okay, First I hear this is
- 23:45Speaker 3: the best bakery in all of Los Angeles, and it
- 23:47Speaker 3: just so happened to be right by my sister's place, where.
- 23:50Speaker 2: I'm saying, what is this?
- 23:51Speaker 3: But this is a I washed my hands. This is
- 23:54Speaker 3: a croissant with with a nice match of power.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Oh my god, that's beautiful. Where did this?
- 24:00Speaker 3: It came from from Malu Malao Malao Coffee and kitchen.
- 24:07Speaker 3: They got good coffee, good food, and good vibes. And
- 24:10Speaker 3: that's all I tried. I tried to bring the vibes
- 24:13Speaker 3: from there. And then I travel around a lot and
- 24:16Speaker 3: my rider. It's not that complicated. It's flass. I asked
- 24:19Speaker 3: for floss, ask for floss, and they don't give me
- 24:23Speaker 3: just one flossy. They give me bags. And so, you know,
- 24:27Speaker 3: don't feel guilty about this because I have so much
- 24:31Speaker 3: fifty of these bags at my home, so two different
- 24:35Speaker 3: kinds of flaws. They are opened, that's fine, But it's
- 24:38Speaker 3: not like they don't go bad.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Right If I found there's in a gutter open, that's
- 24:42Speaker 2: a different.
- 24:42Speaker 3: Source for sure. And sometimes they do open and they
- 24:45Speaker 3: all pour out in a way that you're like, was
- 24:47Speaker 3: the bag designed for these to pour out? And I
- 24:49Speaker 3: don't want to use a dirty one, so I have
- 24:50Speaker 3: to buy a new one. In this sauce scam, these
- 24:53Speaker 3: did not. And one's a Crayola.
- 24:56Speaker 2: I've never seen a Crayola flosser. Yes, fun philossph for kids.
- 25:01Speaker 3: So these these are good.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Let me look at this Creola ones. This is very
- 25:05Speaker 2: interesting to me. Does it do anything like a crayon
- 25:07Speaker 2: or is it just to appeal to children.
- 25:10Speaker 3: I just think, you know, it's tough to get kids
- 25:11Speaker 3: to floss.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Oh they're great flavored, are they? Yeah?
- 25:16Speaker 3: That's great?
- 25:17Speaker 2: Interesting And none of them is purple, so there was
- 25:20Speaker 2: a mistake on the Craola company's part, pink, green, and blue,
- 25:23Speaker 2: and then they went, let's do this great.
- 25:27Speaker 3: I love these. I when people complain about floss, I
- 25:30Speaker 3: have to stop myself from I've floss with these three
- 25:32Speaker 3: four times a day, a day.
- 25:34Speaker 2: After each meal. See what's happening.
- 25:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I got a couple of crevices that are like
- 25:39Speaker 3: they really they every something gets stuck every.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Time, just a biological flaw on your teeth.
- 25:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I've got it. The dentist and one week, one
- 25:45Speaker 3: time we filled it up and it still became a problem.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Does the dentist get after you for flossing even though
- 25:50Speaker 2: you floss.
- 25:51Speaker 3: No, the floss they seem to be good with. They
- 25:53Speaker 3: say more frustrating that I brush too hard. You're not
- 25:57Speaker 3: in you're electric toothbrush. I do, but I still put
- 26:00Speaker 3: shit too much. Oh boy, And that's one of those
- 26:03Speaker 3: frustrating You're like, come on, I'm brushing, brushing too hard. Well,
- 26:09Speaker 3: I know I have one receiving gum, and I asked them.
- 26:11Speaker 3: I said, like they say, it doesn't grow back, And
- 26:14Speaker 3: you go, what a flaw on art designs part. So
- 26:17Speaker 3: much of us grows back so much lizards their tail,
- 26:21Speaker 3: it grows back.
- 26:21Speaker 2: I can get a whole new one.
- 26:23Speaker 3: And this one piece of gum. And then it's it's
- 26:26Speaker 3: funny where you try to like tell your your doctors,
- 26:28Speaker 3: like to be like just so you know I'm on camera,
- 26:32Speaker 3: You're trying to like instill on them like this is
- 26:35Speaker 3: really important.
- 26:36Speaker 2: What the brushing heart is important, That my face.
- 26:38Speaker 3: That my gum, that my smile, like this has to
- 26:41Speaker 3: be top notch.
- 26:42Speaker 2: You're known for your gum.
- 26:43Speaker 3: It's my job to smile right. So they told me
- 26:48Speaker 3: about the grafting process. It does not horrify the Oh
- 26:51Speaker 3: it's and they said, just you know that this is
- 26:53Speaker 3: where I brought it up. They said, well, we'd have
- 26:55Speaker 3: to take it from here in the color would be different.
- 26:57Speaker 3: And I was like, oh, that can't not be. No,
- 27:00Speaker 3: that has the same because I'm on TV.
- 27:03Speaker 1: And so on.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Does the does the gum come from your own mouth
- 27:08Speaker 2: or a dead mouth?
- 27:09Speaker 3: Well, they said you're this is where they said, your
- 27:11Speaker 3: own mouth, and that's why the color would be different
- 27:13Speaker 3: because it's a different part of the mouth. And then
- 27:15Speaker 3: I said, well then we will have to go with
- 27:17Speaker 3: uh dead, or I will pay if we need to
- 27:20Speaker 3: get someone new. I don't know if when you do
- 27:24Speaker 3: organ donation it's like donating to an actor. Yes, a
- 27:31Speaker 3: gum for like they have to be above this level
- 27:34Speaker 3: an IMDb meter. They can have my gums right.
- 27:37Speaker 2: My fingernails to a manicure as the sort of thing. Well,
- 27:40Speaker 2: that's what part of your mouth is so gummy that
- 27:42Speaker 2: they're able to just harvest it for the rest of
- 27:44Speaker 2: your mouth. I don't understand. What's I feel like there's
- 27:46Speaker 2: none there. It's so tight.
- 27:47Speaker 3: It's but that's why I think they take it. I mean,
- 27:49Speaker 3: I don't I'm not a medical professional. If that's not clear.
- 27:54Speaker 3: They seem to say, like from the side or from
- 27:55Speaker 3: the top of the mouth that I'm like, is that
- 27:57Speaker 3: is that gum gum? Really just where it's located.
- 28:00Speaker 2: But it's just mouth, right, why not just take it
- 28:03Speaker 2: from the back of my arm at that point?
- 28:04Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 28:05Speaker 2: Oh that sounds horrifying.
- 28:07Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's they said, it's it's painful. You can't.
- 28:09Speaker 3: I mean, it sounds brutal for like this very small.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Right, And I feel like I'm headed in this direction
- 28:16Speaker 2: as well, receding gum lines. But I feel like everyone is.
- 28:19Speaker 2: And I feel like dentists sometimes are a little too careful.
- 28:22Speaker 2: They're a little too cautious, and so they go overboard.
- 28:25Speaker 2: So I've got to really have a problem before they're
- 28:27Speaker 2: going to do surgery on my mouth.
- 28:29Speaker 3: Yeah, but you'll feel it. I mean, they're just like
- 28:32Speaker 3: that upper part of the teeth feeling of just like, ah.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Oh you feel the sensitivity there. Yeah, sometimes now and
- 28:39Speaker 2: then oh no, oh that sounds how.
- 28:42Speaker 3: Can I not grow back? Truly, it's one of those
- 28:44Speaker 3: knowing to be mad at wish I was more religious,
- 28:47Speaker 3: so I could go to a church and I guess,
- 28:49Speaker 3: look at Jesus on the cross and go, why why.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Yeah, you're in pain me too, great gums on him.
- 28:59Speaker 2: But to me, this was like one of the things
- 29:01Speaker 2: that they need to start growing on the back of mice.
- 29:03Speaker 2: You know, they'll put an have an ear growing out
- 29:05Speaker 2: of a mouse or whatever they've had too good for
- 29:07Speaker 2: too long. Yeah, we've got to have gum, gum, skin
- 29:10Speaker 2: or flesh on the back of mice. That's a good im.
- 29:13Speaker 3: I feel like they must be able to take gum
- 29:14Speaker 3: out of a pig.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Oh interesting, interesting, Yeah, it feels like they're not thinking
- 29:19Speaker 2: hard enough.
- 29:20Speaker 3: If they can, if they can give you the heart
- 29:22Speaker 3: of a pig, certainly, I mean, come on, come on,
- 29:26Speaker 3: what are the pigs doing with their gums?
- 29:29Speaker 2: When did you start like get getting serious about flossing?
- 29:34Speaker 3: Honestly, like these these were a game changer for me.
- 29:37Speaker 3: I like the foss it's a it's I have like
- 29:39Speaker 3: a little adhd. I I was definitely like as a kid,
- 29:42Speaker 3: I I went through sucking faces. I was. I was
- 29:45Speaker 3: a necklace.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Oh I did.
- 29:46Speaker 3: The necklace would sometimes have like little like kind of
- 29:49Speaker 3: slight rashes here the worst, the grossest. For a while,
- 29:52Speaker 3: I was a shirt and just.
- 29:53Speaker 2: Like didn't do the shirt. I would do the hoodie string.
- 29:57Speaker 3: Hoodie string, for sure, Yeah, for sure.
- 30:00Speaker 2: But the shirt, that's a tough one.
- 30:01Speaker 3: It's gross.
- 30:02Speaker 2: How old were you when that was happening?
- 30:03Speaker 3: My middle school? Then in high school? And then the
- 30:05Speaker 3: stains were at a different place. And I did pens
- 30:11Speaker 3: pens constantly. Yeah, a couple back, the little the little
- 30:15Speaker 3: round thing would pop off and I swallowed maybe two
- 30:18Speaker 3: in my life. That's what.
- 30:19Speaker 2: I haven't chewed on a pen in a long time.
- 30:20Speaker 2: That's a good chewing tool. Yeah me neither gen Z
- 30:24Speaker 2: doesn't know what it is to chew on a pen.
- 30:26Speaker 3: I am brutal and like people will lend me a
- 30:27Speaker 3: pen and within seconds it's in my mouth and I've
- 30:30Speaker 3: completely forgotten this is someone else's pen pencils I did
- 30:34Speaker 3: for a little. I remember the time when it would
- 30:35Speaker 3: be like like maybe I got a splinter in my
- 30:38Speaker 3: mouth just like I was chewing it. Oh my god,
- 30:40Speaker 3: getting probably lead, no, like just the middle.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Like, oh it's crazy, that's very beaver.
- 30:46Speaker 3: Yeah. Never a thumbsucker. My sister was a thumbsucker. They
- 30:50Speaker 3: had to get the nail.
- 30:51Speaker 2: Polish, like the bitter nail polish. Yeah, she sucked with
- 30:55Speaker 2: them for a while until when.
- 30:57Speaker 3: I mean feeling like seven eight. It was it was, it.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Was apparent just a parent. You're like, I don't know
- 31:04Speaker 2: what to do here. I guess we're going to have
- 31:06Speaker 2: to punish her with poison.
- 31:08Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty much I would do. I would try a pacifier.
- 31:12Speaker 3: I'm a chure like I do gum. I go through
- 31:14Speaker 3: phase where I save myself like Jamarco, you need to
- 31:16Speaker 3: take a break from gum because my jaw starts clicking
- 31:19Speaker 3: and you're like this, this isn't gud.
- 31:21Speaker 2: Are you chewing multiple pieces?
- 31:22Speaker 3: Oh? Yeah, I mean the high school went through phase
- 31:25Speaker 3: where I would do like I do the whole fruit,
- 31:28Speaker 3: by the what is it for fruit? By the no
- 31:31Speaker 3: bubble tape, bubble tape, Like I have six feet of
- 31:34Speaker 3: gum in my mouth, and I will definitely if again
- 31:39Speaker 3: in orbits like I'm going I'll add that third pretty quick.
- 31:43Speaker 4: Wow.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Yeah, see, I for a long time it was only
- 31:46Speaker 2: a half apiece. Half You take me, my God, to
- 31:50Speaker 2: get through one pa integrate that in seconds. I was
- 31:53Speaker 2: split again a half. I thought, this is plenty of
- 31:55Speaker 2: gum for me now, I'm you know, the little chick
- 31:56Speaker 2: lit size pop one of those in I can't imagine
- 31:59Speaker 2: having two pieces of gum in my mouth.
- 32:01Speaker 3: I don't do it often, but sometimes, if the steaks
- 32:04Speaker 3: are really low for a gig and I'm filling cocky,
- 32:07Speaker 3: I'll go up there chewing gum and it feels cool.
- 32:10Speaker 3: It feels it feels like badass.
- 32:12Speaker 2: That may feel cool for you as an audience member.
- 32:15Speaker 2: You're losing me.
- 32:16Speaker 3: For you, for sure. I can tell you got some standards.
- 32:20Speaker 3: I can tell you got some standards.
- 32:21Speaker 2: There are some people who will go on late night
- 32:23Speaker 2: shows chewing gum or interviews and all just pointed out
- 32:28Speaker 2: Michael Keaton, if you ever watched an interview with this
- 32:30Speaker 2: man constantly chewing gum?
- 32:32Speaker 3: Uh huh.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Such an irritating.
- 32:34Speaker 3: Look some people bothers. I get it.
- 32:38Speaker 2: I get it.
- 32:38Speaker 3: It's like it calms me. If definitely I was nervous
- 32:41Speaker 3: for like a talk show thing, gum chewing would absolutely
- 32:45Speaker 3: like make me looser.
- 32:46Speaker 2: It's a bit of a fidget spinner, yes, hidden fidget spinner.
- 32:50Speaker 3: Yeah, because I like even when I'm when I try
- 32:52Speaker 3: to act, I go back to trying to at Oh,
- 32:54Speaker 3: give yourself but like my tension, like it's like, what
- 32:59Speaker 3: is my tongue I'm doing right now? Why am I?
- 33:01Speaker 3: Why am I thinking about the interior of sing Yeah,
- 33:04Speaker 3: you feel your whole skull basically, and gum lets it,
- 33:07Speaker 3: you know, just chewing. Yeah, just barbostize. Any audition for
- 33:12Speaker 3: Funny Girl famously, she she was chewing gum and they
- 33:16Speaker 3: the cast directors were like you, oh my god, what
- 33:18Speaker 3: is this? What is this vile creature? And then at
- 33:21Speaker 3: the end of the audition took it out put under
- 33:23Speaker 3: the chair. They went over. There was no gum under
- 33:26Speaker 3: the chair. She was acting the whole Wow.
- 33:29Speaker 2: She's that good. She's that she can trick. Someone picks
- 33:33Speaker 2: my nose and you're like, god, this kind of goes
- 33:36Speaker 2: no Bookers, He's only disgusting in my imagination. Basically, I
- 33:43Speaker 2: was swallowing each piece of gum I chewed four years
- 33:47Speaker 2: and I've recently stopped that.
- 33:49Speaker 3: But I feel like.
- 33:50Speaker 2: If it's half a piece, that's that's a little yeah,
- 33:52Speaker 2: maybe less.
- 33:53Speaker 3: There is the thing where I'm like, I don't and
- 33:57Speaker 3: sometimes I don't have the rapper and I put it
- 33:59Speaker 3: down on something and then it's like a disasters then
- 34:04Speaker 3: and I'm like, I can swallow this, right, you can?
- 34:07Speaker 3: You can?
- 34:08Speaker 2: I think you absolutely? Why is that there's a myth
- 34:11Speaker 2: the whole seven year thing that's blow blooney?
- 34:14Speaker 3: But like, is it bad for any reason at all? No?
- 34:16Speaker 2: I don't. I mean, who I improve that? I mean
- 34:18Speaker 2: I have a lot of problems, But I don't think
- 34:20Speaker 2: it has anything to do with chewing gum or swallowing gum.
- 34:23Speaker 2: I think it just passes through like any other thing.
- 34:26Speaker 2: You could swallow a nail, Yeah, that might be slightly
- 34:29Speaker 2: more difficult. The thing you can't swallow is two magnets.
- 34:34Speaker 2: Those will go through your intestine and then stick to
- 34:36Speaker 2: each other and forget it. I don't know how you
- 34:39Speaker 2: do you forget it?
- 34:39Speaker 3: You die?
- 34:40Speaker 2: I don't know. They're clamped together and you're intestine.
- 34:43Speaker 3: How did he die?
- 34:44Speaker 2: Can you swallow two fridge megnots?
- 34:49Speaker 3: I have to look this up.
- 34:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that chewing, chewing, and swallowing gum, I
- 34:53Speaker 2: think we would solve a lot of problems. You know,
- 34:56Speaker 2: there'd be less under the table.
- 34:58Speaker 3: One old one like thing where people go if you
- 35:03Speaker 3: are cold, That doesn't lead to more cold, It doesn't
- 35:07Speaker 3: lead to you getting a colt, right, and that one,
- 35:10Speaker 3: no one seems to believe.
- 35:12Speaker 2: My boyfriend. Yeah, it's a constant finds like you're simply
- 35:16Speaker 2: not going to get more of a cold or get
- 35:19Speaker 2: a cold because of your body temperature.
- 35:20Speaker 3: I think, like, I think what happens is if someone's
- 35:22Speaker 3: cold and then you're warm, your body like creates mucus
- 35:25Speaker 3: and so you feel what you would associate with cults.
- 35:27Speaker 3: And because you just had a visceral ruppeture change, But
- 35:30Speaker 3: that does not lead to you getting a cold later.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Right, because it's a virus, does it make your body
- 35:37Speaker 2: more vulnerable and then it can't fight the virus. That's
- 35:39Speaker 2: the only logic I could get to.
- 35:41Speaker 3: But it doesn't.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just an old life's tale.
- 35:45Speaker 3: Yeah, but people, it's it's that I honestly think, like
- 35:48Speaker 3: some of those things. When I think about like medicine
- 35:51Speaker 3: and misinformation, I go, it's connected to small things. I
- 35:58Speaker 3: believe that, like if we cannot establish that drinking a
- 36:04Speaker 3: lot of vitamin C doesn't cure you, or that being
- 36:07Speaker 3: cold because it's the same word as cold, doesn't mean
- 36:09Speaker 3: there's the same If we can't do that, good luck
- 36:13Speaker 3: with vaccines. Good luck.
- 36:16Speaker 2: Yeah, Like trying to convince people. Yeah, yeah, what a
- 36:19Speaker 2: good point.
- 36:20Speaker 3: I do think. I mean all I think people got
- 36:22Speaker 3: bitter of like, you know, a red wine is good
- 36:25Speaker 3: for you. I still have that. And it was one
- 36:27Speaker 3: study and it was debunked.
- 36:28Speaker 2: Once a year, we're getting that study. Same with dark chocolate.
- 36:32Speaker 1: Mmmm.
- 36:32Speaker 2: And it's like, let's just make up our minds on this.
- 36:35Speaker 3: Yeah yeah yeah.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Or maybe it's just not important enough to keep putting
- 36:39Speaker 2: in the news yause it's confusing.
- 36:41Speaker 3: Eggs good. Yeah, that's part of the is the news.
- 36:43Speaker 3: They have to summon up and they go, eggs good
- 36:45Speaker 3: for you, eggs bad for you?
- 36:46Speaker 2: Right, And it's like there's no gray area.
- 36:48Speaker 3: Yeah. And I go to my doctor and they go, hey,
- 36:50Speaker 3: we don't really know, but it's probably not bad. The
- 36:53Speaker 3: way these doctors talk sometimes I'm like you go like,
- 36:55Speaker 3: oh you go, oh yeah, it is a man made system, right, it.
- 36:59Speaker 2: Is okay, you're a part and you might be bad
- 37:01Speaker 2: at your job.
- 37:02Speaker 3: Yeah. And it's just like it's not a consensus. It's
- 37:04Speaker 3: kind of the thought.
- 37:06Speaker 2: I think we should try this croissant here. Do you
- 37:10Speaker 2: want to try some of it?
- 37:12Speaker 3: I do?
- 37:12Speaker 2: Okay, you take some first. Actually you're the guest here,
- 37:15Speaker 2: it's beautiful.
- 37:16Speaker 3: It is beautiful. I mean, god, croissants, Oh the crunch God,
- 37:22Speaker 3: it just sounds amazing.
- 37:23Speaker 2: This is a beautiful. Oh it's green inside as well.
- 37:26Speaker 2: This is a real Macha croissant. I've never had a
- 37:29Speaker 2: Macha croissant.
- 37:29Speaker 3: Actually, I don't know if I have either. Man, it
- 37:32Speaker 3: looks good.
- 37:34Speaker 2: Okay, Oh my lord, look at that.
- 37:37Speaker 3: Hm that's good.
- 37:39Speaker 2: Oh that's phenomenal.
- 37:40Speaker 3: That's really good.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Oh that's so good. That's like an immediately flavorful but
- 37:45Speaker 2: not overpowering wow. And a good chew, really good chew.
- 37:51Speaker 2: You have a favorite bakery in New.
- 37:52Speaker 3: York, No, I need to get one. I I was
- 37:56Speaker 3: like overly like healthy in a weird way where eat
- 38:00Speaker 3: a lot, but I would eat and I also would
- 38:02Speaker 3: eat like so many raw almonds. And my girlfriend was like,
- 38:05Speaker 3: do you understand these have a lot of calories? And
- 38:07Speaker 3: I was like what? And that looks up. I was like,
- 38:09Speaker 3: I could have been having Chris Hans this whole time. Yeah.
- 38:11Speaker 3: So then I do interim into fasting now. And what
- 38:14Speaker 3: I like about it is it's for me. It's opened
- 38:17Speaker 3: up eating things that I didn't for a long time.
- 38:19Speaker 3: So like I have desserts, oh, I was like I
- 38:22Speaker 3: was not having desserts like period.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Wow, that's crazy.
- 38:25Speaker 3: Yeah, it was just it was just a neurotic thing.
- 38:27Speaker 3: And now with the interimin fasting, I'm like, it just
- 38:29Speaker 3: opened up permission in my own self right. And I
- 38:34Speaker 3: live the crazy travel life, so it keeps me right.
- 38:37Speaker 2: You don't have a consistent like you don't know where
- 38:39Speaker 2: you're going to be eating, what you'll be eating. Yeah,
- 38:42Speaker 2: maybe room service, this kind of thing. So how often
- 38:44Speaker 2: are you fasting?
- 38:46Speaker 3: And how I do it? Pretty consistent? I do? I
- 38:48Speaker 3: do sixteen off eight on sixteen eight oh every day. Yeah,
- 38:53Speaker 3: and then I'm trying to be more a little bit
- 38:55Speaker 3: more like could I break it once a week and
- 38:58Speaker 3: feel okay.
- 38:59Speaker 2: It's slippery slope.
- 39:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:01Speaker 2: So when do you start eating in the day? It
- 39:03Speaker 2: depends usually eight hours As long as it's eight hours.
- 39:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I I lean towards all fast longer
- 39:11Speaker 3: then if if I'm you know, when I travel with
- 39:13Speaker 3: time difference. Yeah, And I know this was some people
- 39:19Speaker 3: just they hear it and they go, oh, you have
- 39:20Speaker 3: You're describing your eating disorder. For us, it's like, yeah, sure,
- 39:24Speaker 3: all eatings, it's it's all.
- 39:25Speaker 2: I kind of like we're all disordered and disorder.
- 39:28Speaker 3: I'm in la where I guess probably here it's like, yeah,
- 39:29Speaker 3: that's a rate you eat for an eight hour window.
- 39:32Speaker 1: Mine.
- 39:35Speaker 3: So it's usually based on the show, right, I like
- 39:37Speaker 3: to have my last meal like before the show.
- 39:39Speaker 2: I think that's smart.
- 39:40Speaker 3: And so so if my show's tonight is at seven thirty,
- 39:43Speaker 3: so I would start at eleven thirty and that's and
- 39:47Speaker 3: then you know, sometimes if I'm going to have a
- 39:49Speaker 3: big I started it because I was in Australia, Okay.
- 39:51Speaker 3: I had a promoter bringing me to these meals, right,
- 39:55Speaker 3: like the best meals you could have in Australia, and
- 39:57Speaker 3: I was like, I want to pick out, but I
- 40:00Speaker 3: don't want to come back from Australia feeling like I
- 40:03Speaker 3: need to catch up. I hate that feeling, right, And
- 40:05Speaker 3: so I just I started doing it, and everything it
- 40:10Speaker 3: was so much better. God, I really, I really worked
- 40:14Speaker 3: for me.
- 40:15Speaker 2: What were you eating in Australia that was so wonderful?
- 40:20Speaker 3: It was everywhere has a wonderful food. It's just whether
- 40:22Speaker 3: someone's paying for it.
- 40:23Speaker 2: Right, And when someone's paying for food, I mean it's.
- 40:25Speaker 3: People say New York's the best food city. I'm like really,
- 40:27Speaker 3: and it's like, yeah, because I when I'm here, I'm
- 40:30Speaker 3: here Monday through Thursday. I'm not going out to a
- 40:32Speaker 3: fancy dinner, right, And then you do and you're like,
- 40:34Speaker 3: oh yeah, people think New York is one of the best.
- 40:37Speaker 3: I'm just not going right.
- 40:39Speaker 2: I mean, you can almost any major city. You could
- 40:41Speaker 2: probably make an argument that it's one of the best
- 40:43Speaker 2: at this point, if you're willing to pay for it.
- 40:46Speaker 3: I like Los Angeles because I think they have more
- 40:49Speaker 3: middle healthy places. Oh absolutely, more than anywhere else in
- 40:54Speaker 3: the country. I think if you go to like Paris,
- 40:57Speaker 3: oh my god, there's more healthy options. But in New
- 41:00Speaker 3: York it's like it's sweet green and then there's nothing
- 41:04Speaker 3: in the middle. There zero. Absolutely LA will have like
- 41:08Speaker 3: oh wow, this is like, you know, it's not the
- 41:11Speaker 3: cheapest launch, but not the crazy right. I like Goop.
- 41:14Speaker 3: Oh people.
- 41:15Speaker 2: I finally tried the Group Kitchen recently.
- 41:17Speaker 3: I like Goo.
- 41:18Speaker 2: I have to say it was pretty good.
- 41:19Speaker 3: I was way better than a Sweet Green salad.
- 41:22Speaker 2: Oh my god, are you kidding me? The kale at
- 41:24Speaker 2: Sweet Green, I complained about this all the time, is
- 41:26Speaker 2: the driest food on earth that will choke you.
- 41:28Speaker 3: It used to be good though, because I I've been
- 41:31Speaker 3: with Sweet Greens since the beginning, because it started in DC.
- 41:33Speaker 3: It was a yogurt chop. Originally what salads. I'm ninety
- 41:37Speaker 3: nine percent sure salads is like a side thing. And
- 41:39Speaker 3: then that took over.
- 41:40Speaker 2: They called a yogurt shop Sweet Green.
- 41:43Speaker 3: I think so maybe it was Machi Yoga, who the
- 41:46Speaker 3: fuck knows. But then I was in Philly and like
- 41:48Speaker 3: it opened, like the first one in Philly, and this
- 41:50Speaker 3: is when it was like they had seasonal crispy kale
- 41:54Speaker 3: and it was like the bulls are huge and the
- 41:56Speaker 3: greens were fresh and I and then I remember the
- 41:58Speaker 3: first one in New York and now it's all over
- 42:00Speaker 3: near and I've I've watched the decline.
- 42:02Speaker 2: Of course, I've watched it last time.
- 42:05Speaker 3: Really, I think about all the places I've watched the
- 42:07Speaker 3: decline of in my life. And I remember when the
- 42:10Speaker 3: bowl suddenly there's these indents in the bowl and I
- 42:13Speaker 3: was like, there's less bowl.
- 42:15Speaker 2: That's a really sneaky movie on their part, the dimples.
- 42:17Speaker 3: And they I think I I think I wrote them
- 42:20Speaker 3: on Instagram and they said the bull is the same.
- 42:23Speaker 3: I said, I remember when they would have a water
- 42:27Speaker 3: station with ice, beautiful little ice cubes, and they get
- 42:30Speaker 3: rid of that, and then it's just one. It's one
- 42:32Speaker 3: of those, just one little thing.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Oh is it the one with the little blue thing
- 42:35Speaker 2: that you push back?
- 42:36Speaker 3: Yes?
- 42:37Speaker 2: I hate those ones.
- 42:38Speaker 3: They're awful. The temperature is awful, it's no ice. What
- 42:42Speaker 3: do you do? You got to mind? I mean, this
- 42:45Speaker 3: is just capitalism, and you just watch everything gets so
- 42:48Speaker 3: so bad. The door dash is so bad. I think
- 42:53Speaker 3: of the door dash. If you request utensils and they
- 42:56Speaker 3: don't deliver utensils, it's free. I because what do you
- 43:00Speaker 3: want me to do? What do you listen? If I'm
- 43:03Speaker 3: at home, of course I'll use my own suffer. If
- 43:05Speaker 3: i'm sometimes I get it and I go, what do
- 43:08Speaker 3: you want me to do?
- 43:09Speaker 2: Do you want to eat it like a dance dude?
- 43:11Speaker 3: And then I got to go somewhere else and go
- 43:13Speaker 3: can I have Can I take a plastic fork? I'm
- 43:16Speaker 3: not giving you any money. You don't know me. Everyone
- 43:18Speaker 3: has needs. Can I take something from you?
- 43:20Speaker 2: It would have to be a super a curry for
- 43:22Speaker 2: me to seek out. If if it was a salad,
- 43:24Speaker 2: I would just do hands, just say forget it. I'm
- 43:27Speaker 2: eating with my hands tonight, and I wouldn't complain. You
- 43:30Speaker 2: eat this out with your hands, Absolutely nothing stopping me
- 43:32Speaker 2: from eating a salad.
- 43:33Speaker 3: Do you put dressing on it?
- 43:34Speaker 2: Well, see, that's a good, good question. I would have
- 43:37Speaker 2: to dip. I'd have to turn it into dipping a
- 43:41Speaker 2: salad piece pie piece. It hasn't come to that yet.
- 43:46Speaker 2: I'm not a heavy heavy dressing person anyway, me neither.
- 43:49Speaker 2: So I can see myself creating kind of a little
- 43:52Speaker 2: bouquet of lettuce and then dipping eating. You know, sure
- 43:56Speaker 2: times are tough. They don't give you the fork, But
- 44:00Speaker 2: how am I supposed to do? Find like a big
- 44:03Speaker 2: ladle in the kitchen? Maybe use a soup ladle to
- 44:05Speaker 2: eat it?
- 44:05Speaker 3: I love eating with my hands. I love eating with
- 44:07Speaker 3: my hands more. Oh it's it feels you're closer to
- 44:11Speaker 3: your taste better, tastes better. I mean, you see me
- 44:15Speaker 3: with the rotisserie chicken, Mike girlfriend and I we have
- 44:18Speaker 3: a similar You seem mannered.
- 44:22Speaker 2: I appreciate that.
- 44:23Speaker 3: You know my my favorite musical, Hello Dolly. But but
- 44:28Speaker 3: some people would wouldn't dare eat a thing with their hands,
- 44:31Speaker 3: And that's give me a break. Grow up or like babysitter,
- 44:34Speaker 3: growing up was was Filipino, and she would we eat
- 44:37Speaker 3: a lot of rice, okay, And my sister was very
- 44:39Speaker 3: picky eater, and I just remember she'd pick up this
- 44:40Speaker 3: rice with her hands and just stuff it into my
- 44:42Speaker 3: sister's mouth. And I just think that that's how I
- 44:44Speaker 3: view food. I'm just like, yeah, hands, of course, of course,
- 44:46Speaker 3: of course, especially.
- 44:47Speaker 2: If it's sticky rice. Sticky rice, I think that you
- 44:49Speaker 2: almost want to eat that with your hands. So yeah,
- 44:52Speaker 2: I can see myself eating a lot of rice with
- 44:54Speaker 2: my hand.
- 44:54Speaker 3: What I do is I like to slurp a bowl.
- 44:57Speaker 3: Oh my dream. I watch a lot of manga an
- 45:00Speaker 3: anime growing up, and my dream is you take the
- 45:02Speaker 3: chops that you go and I'm going to Japan for
- 45:06Speaker 3: the first time. It's for a slurper. Oh, I'm going
- 45:09Speaker 3: to go to town. But like people don't slurp. And
- 45:12Speaker 3: then you're taking these spoons and you're going, all right,
- 45:15Speaker 3: take away the soup. We wasted soup.
- 45:18Speaker 2: No, I will within the United States, I will silently slurp.
- 45:22Speaker 2: You go to Japan, you're supposed to, so they want
- 45:24Speaker 2: to hear the slurp.
- 45:25Speaker 3: I'm so excited. Just prepare yourself.
- 45:28Speaker 2: Yeah, with the noodles you can just yeah. Oh, it's fantastic. Yeah,
- 45:31Speaker 2: it's how it's meant to be eaten.
- 45:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:34Speaker 2: When I get too many noodles in my mouth from
- 45:36Speaker 2: a ramen or a soup and I'm here in the
- 45:38Speaker 2: United States, it's a nightmare situation for me. I'm like,
- 45:40Speaker 2: who's looking at me? When do I start chewing this?
- 45:42Speaker 2: So it falls back into the bowl. I don't know
- 45:44Speaker 2: what to do. Yes, but go over to Japan, go crazy.
- 45:48Speaker 2: You probably wouldn't even eat chopsticks, just slurp away.
- 45:52Speaker 3: Oh that sounds like when are you going? I believe
- 45:56Speaker 3: at the end of this at the end of this year,
- 45:58Speaker 3: and then I'm gonna stay. I'm gonna do a tour
- 46:00Speaker 3: amazing of Asia, first time in Asia. Okay, so I'm
- 46:03Speaker 3: going to do some shows in Tokyo and Singapore, Hong Kong, fantastic.
- 46:09Speaker 3: Singapore have to submit a transcript amazing. See, the country
- 46:14Speaker 3: is very strict. Yeah, we'll see, we'll see. I've i
- 46:18Speaker 3: it's the whole thing I'm there for, like the adventure
- 46:20Speaker 3: of it. And uh, I'm not being paid by the
- 46:23Speaker 3: Singaporean government, so it is It's not the same as
- 46:26Speaker 3: doing Saudi Arabia right in my opinion.
- 46:28Speaker 2: Well, in Singapore doesn't have a lot of human rights abuse.
- 46:30Speaker 3: Y's definitely definitely different. But I'm sure it's just one
- 46:33Speaker 3: of those things. It's just like any country you go to,
- 46:37Speaker 3: you go like it's new.
- 46:38Speaker 2: What's the problem at this country?
- 46:40Speaker 3: Well, I went to I went to Istanbul, and it's
- 46:44Speaker 3: just wild because Istanbul, as far as they were telling me,
- 46:48Speaker 3: is like this like more liberal area in Turkey, for example.
- 46:52Speaker 3: They told me, they said, you can say anything on stage.
- 46:55Speaker 3: And then they said, just you know, there's going to
- 46:56Speaker 3: be a Muslim called a prayer at the second show.
- 46:59Speaker 3: And they said, but you say whatever you want in
- 47:00Speaker 3: the middle of the show, by the way, and not
- 47:02Speaker 3: like a quick like hey muzzle prayer, thanks guys, like
- 47:05Speaker 3: like five minutes, okay, sure, sure, And they said, and
- 47:08Speaker 3: you can, you know, joke about it, and I was like, oh,
- 47:10Speaker 3: I was like I can. I can joke about it
- 47:12Speaker 3: in any way, and he's like, in any way you want.
- 47:15Speaker 2: And I did what I did.
- 47:17Speaker 3: Of course, there's a part in the middle of my
- 47:18Speaker 3: stand up comedy set and I went hard and then
- 47:21Speaker 3: it was it was fun and everyone in the room
- 47:22Speaker 3: it was it was clear, you know, I'm reading the room.
- 47:25Speaker 3: Then I send them. I'm like, hey, I'm going to
- 47:27Speaker 3: post this video if you want to collab on it
- 47:28Speaker 3: or whatever. And he was like, do not post that
- 47:30Speaker 3: video too far. He's like you you, He's like, you
- 47:33Speaker 3: can do it in Istanbul, but if that video goes
- 47:37Speaker 3: outside and other parts of tricky you you could get in,
- 47:41Speaker 3: you know, to get trouble different and not come back.
- 47:44Speaker 2: Varying levels of religion and.
- 47:47Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's just like everything has its own everyone's
- 47:50Speaker 3: got the system. And you know, there's a part of
- 47:53Speaker 3: me that wants Singapore to go do it. You can't
- 47:56Speaker 3: do this set. There's a part of me that wants
- 47:57Speaker 3: to do a joke there. And my girlfriend goes, please don't.
- 48:03Speaker 3: And I also go like, if I get in trouble
- 48:04Speaker 3: in another government, Trump is not helping me right right
- 48:08Speaker 3: when we got.
- 48:09Speaker 2: To when we got a you would be a it
- 48:10Speaker 2: would be a tough one to convince him. Oh, you'd
- 48:13Speaker 2: have to wait to a new administration.
- 48:15Speaker 3: And I have to be willing to go on TV
- 48:17Speaker 3: and you know, put on the how we need to
- 48:20Speaker 3: make America laugh again?
- 48:22Speaker 2: And what a career turn that would be?
- 48:24Speaker 3: It would it? Would be tough traveling with the speed
- 48:27Speaker 3: which I do. Sometimes you go like more thought should
- 48:31Speaker 3: be going into this. But I remember in Amsterdam, I
- 48:34Speaker 3: was like talking to my girlfriend about how beautiful Amsidom was,
- 48:37Speaker 3: and I was like, I was like, maybe maybe we
- 48:39Speaker 3: maybe we could just move, we give upon our whole life.
- 48:42Speaker 3: Move here. I'm talking to her about a beautiful and
- 48:44Speaker 3: three people as I'm just talking regularly to my girlfriend,
- 48:47Speaker 3: they're like, sh you're talking too loud, and I I
- 48:53Speaker 3: I filled with rage, filled with a New Yorker rage,
- 48:57Speaker 3: like fuck you. And it happened. It happened there, it
- 49:02Speaker 3: happened in Germany, and then it gets to Greece. Doesn't
- 49:05Speaker 3: happen there, And I go, yeah, it's it's I'm not
- 49:08Speaker 3: you found some people for Amsterdam is the way it
- 49:11Speaker 3: is because I'm not there right right.
- 49:14Speaker 2: Amsterdam doesn't strike me as a quiet country. Yeah I don't.
- 49:17Speaker 3: I don't know. It's Quaine and it's beautiful and serene,
- 49:20Speaker 3: and so you know, I'm good. I just allowed talker.
- 49:23Speaker 2: My dream country.
- 49:25Speaker 3: Oh you gotta go, you know, no, Oh, it's it's stunning.
- 49:27Speaker 3: It might be for me, but my girlfriend I we
- 49:30Speaker 3: were loud Jews and we and she sometimes she was
- 49:33Speaker 3: at a nail salon and like someone came over, like
- 49:35Speaker 3: you're talking too loud, and it it hurt her feelings
- 49:38Speaker 3: all because it's it's uh, it hurts for someone to
- 49:41Speaker 3: be like the way you are is.
- 49:42Speaker 2: Right, right, your personality is bad?
- 49:44Speaker 3: Yes, And I nothing could make me upset more than
- 49:48Speaker 3: when I see someone say that, like, hey, could you
- 49:50Speaker 3: talk a little.
- 49:50Speaker 2: Softer unless you're in a library.
- 49:53Speaker 3: Unless you're in a library, sure.
- 49:55Speaker 2: Or another country. I feel like in another country, it's like, well,
- 49:57Speaker 2: this is the predominant culture.
- 49:59Speaker 3: Yes, get with it.
- 50:01Speaker 2: Yeah, listen to nail salon. What are you talking about?
- 50:04Speaker 3: Listen, I'm not a model of being like you know,
- 50:07Speaker 3: I'm just loud. I'm not going to be a dick
- 50:09Speaker 3: about it. No, you're a perfectly nice person down the
- 50:11Speaker 3: street and I'm a little loud. Wait three seconds, I'll
- 50:15Speaker 3: be gone if I'm in motion, No need to make
- 50:19Speaker 3: me feel bad. The thing has already happened.
- 50:22Speaker 2: Yeah, you don't need to chase me down to give
- 50:23Speaker 2: me a note. Yeah, if you're standing behind someone trying
- 50:26Speaker 2: to read a book, that's a different story.
- 50:28Speaker 3: And listen this why but this why I'm in New York.
- 50:31Speaker 3: You're with her around a lot of people getting shipped
- 50:33Speaker 3: done in a time crunch. Yes, yes, and so there's
- 50:36Speaker 3: more room for that. Like I was, like I was.
- 50:39Speaker 3: I was in a coffee shop. What thirty minutes, I
- 50:41Speaker 3: was editing a comedy special news do here, and the
- 50:43Speaker 3: WiFi was bad and and so you know, in the
- 50:46Speaker 3: midst of that, when someone behind me at the coffee
- 50:47Speaker 3: shop goes, can you talk a little softer? I go,
- 50:51Speaker 3: get me the fuck out of this weird fucking country.
- 50:55Speaker 3: I need to go back to New York. I got
- 50:57Speaker 3: shited to do. And that's why I guess not a
- 51:00Speaker 3: lot of great comedy specials coming out of the Netherlands.
- 51:03Speaker 2: And again that's the train off. Very good, that's the
- 51:06Speaker 2: train off. What about on a plane?
- 51:08Speaker 3: A plane, I'm pretty I'm not loud, okay, you know, like,
- 51:13Speaker 3: but listen, I have my lines too. People are playing
- 51:15Speaker 3: videos with no headphones.
- 51:17Speaker 2: It's a tough pill to swallow.
- 51:19Speaker 3: It was great. There was There was one time on
- 51:20Speaker 3: a plane where this older guy he just didn't know
- 51:23Speaker 3: his headphones weren't connected. So he had his headphones, but
- 51:26Speaker 3: he's playing this music full volume and I and I said,
- 51:30Speaker 3: as her because you know it's not working, and it was.
- 51:33Speaker 3: He was sweet about him.
- 51:34Speaker 2: Oh that's nice.
- 51:35Speaker 3: I think I'm decent on planes, but I'm taking my
- 51:37Speaker 3: shoes off.
- 51:38Speaker 2: I take my shoes off.
- 51:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't.
- 51:40Speaker 2: I feel like as long as you are a clean
- 51:42Speaker 2: person who has showered within the last forty eight hours, yeah,
- 51:45Speaker 2: it's okay to take your shoes off. You're on an
- 51:47Speaker 2: uncomfortable thing. You've got to do everything you possibly can
- 51:49Speaker 2: to find some level.
- 51:50Speaker 3: Of You've got to turn your eye to the planes.
- 51:52Speaker 3: I mean, listen, they turn us against each other.
- 51:55Speaker 2: This is how the whole country is at this point.
- 51:57Speaker 2: That got us fighting with each other than with the plane.
- 52:00Speaker 3: My thing with planes, I think we should lie out
- 52:04Speaker 3: and that's that's all. I mean. You pay a god
- 52:08Speaker 3: forsaken amount of money for first class. Just I don't
- 52:10Speaker 3: need it. Don't need warm nuts and a little bowl.
- 52:13Speaker 3: That's not what it's for. It's simply so I can
- 52:15Speaker 3: be horizontal. If they stacked us, well, they could get
- 52:18Speaker 3: more people in the plane. They stack us. You know,
- 52:22Speaker 3: it's a pain to get in to get out, but
- 52:24Speaker 3: like stack me. You could put a TV over me
- 52:25Speaker 3: or nothing. I'll just sleepy, just lie me.
- 52:28Speaker 2: Down my ultimate dream, and it feels like, why not,
- 52:31Speaker 2: let's at least give one plane a tribe where we're
- 52:33Speaker 2: just absolutely stacked in there.
- 52:34Speaker 3: If bathroom's an issue, put put it there. Put it,
- 52:37Speaker 3: I open it.
- 52:38Speaker 2: I guess the bathroom is the one.
- 52:40Speaker 3: Put a hole. Put a hole, put my dick in.
- 52:42Speaker 2: Provide a catheter, please.
- 52:44Speaker 3: There's a lot of flights I'd much rather put in
- 52:46Speaker 3: a catheter. Right.
- 52:47Speaker 2: They give you the little bag to throw up in, yeah,
- 52:49Speaker 2: replace that with.
- 52:51Speaker 3: I remember when. I don't see them that much anymore,
- 52:53Speaker 3: but I remember when, like as a kid, they were there.
- 52:56Speaker 2: Oh yeah every time.
- 52:57Speaker 3: Because I guess there was just more turbulence, it happened
- 52:59Speaker 3: more often.
- 53:00Speaker 2: I feel like turbulence has gotten out of control. Really,
- 53:03Speaker 2: Oh my god. Every time I'm on a plane, I'm like, well,
- 53:05Speaker 2: this is the fin I better listen to a song.
- 53:07Speaker 2: I like, because I'm done.
- 53:08Speaker 3: That's that's your fine, that's how you use.
- 53:12Speaker 2: I'll just kind of be like, Okay, well the plane's
- 53:13Speaker 2: going down, let's enjoy this.
- 53:16Speaker 3: I think in my mind, I go, it's a shame
- 53:20Speaker 3: I can't jerk off like for the final I think,
- 53:26Speaker 3: honestly knowing me Let's say I was on a plane alone,
- 53:28Speaker 3: and it was like appropriate because we're as I'm about
- 53:31Speaker 3: to die and my death, we're thinking about, you know,
- 53:33Speaker 3: don't want to make anyone uncomfortable.
- 53:35Speaker 2: I don't want to inconvenience any God to death.
- 53:39Speaker 3: God forbid that plane right itself, and I go, oh God,
- 53:43Speaker 3: I masturbated in front of the whole plane. But knowing me,
- 53:47Speaker 3: if I was on a plane alone, I was going down,
- 53:50Speaker 3: I would be so crippled by the like would I
- 53:53Speaker 3: be able to get it done in time? That I
- 53:56Speaker 3: would die mid thinking about should I masturbates? That's how
- 54:02Speaker 3: I would die.
- 54:02Speaker 2: For at least you're distracted, you know with.
- 54:05Speaker 3: POMPEII, where the volcano out, there's one guy, guy, Oh,
- 54:09Speaker 3: there's I'm I'm again. I'm pretty sure where he's Clearly
- 54:13Speaker 3: his hand is on his deck, mortifying in the ashes,
- 54:16Speaker 3: mortifying because you want to know did he finish?
- 54:18Speaker 2: Did he make it there?
- 54:20Speaker 3: Did he finish? And I think that's what archaeologist should
- 54:24Speaker 3: be looking into. Yes, because I God, you hope, so.
- 54:28Speaker 2: We've got the DNA tests, we can figure that out.
- 54:31Speaker 3: But you also think, like it's got to be, it's
- 54:34Speaker 3: gotta be tough to like get one off, and it's
- 54:38Speaker 3: like as you see lava lava. Just if you hear
- 54:40Speaker 3: the screaming, you feel the heat, yeah, smoke, maybe the heat.
- 54:45Speaker 3: Maybe the heat's nice. Oh interesting, Maybe it's one of
- 54:47Speaker 3: those things like actually, the best way is what the
- 54:50Speaker 3: laugh is coming towards you. Hopefully, Hopefully for that guy,
- 54:55Speaker 3: one could only hope.
- 54:56Speaker 2: I hope that was his last bit of enjoyment as
- 54:58Speaker 2: he was absolutely can turned.
- 55:00Speaker 3: To ask what better way?
- 55:01Speaker 2: What else to Well, I'm want to try flossing. It's
- 55:05Speaker 2: not appropriate to do. I've been I've been holding because
- 55:08Speaker 2: I've been like, I can't fluster by mind, we're going
- 55:10Speaker 2: to floss on camera here. I know some people have
- 55:12Speaker 2: a problem with people flossing in public. I don't see
- 55:14Speaker 2: the big deal as long as things aren't flying.
- 55:17Speaker 3: Yeah, well this helps fly. The other thing you.
- 55:19Speaker 2: Do is this great?
- 55:23Speaker 3: Do you have these at home or do you use
- 55:25Speaker 3: a I use a string. I prefer because these break
- 55:27Speaker 3: pretty easily. Okay, when you do the string, do you
- 55:31Speaker 3: move the string for each two? Okay? Like meat?
- 55:35Speaker 2: Either I just use whatever? What are you come on?
- 55:38Speaker 3: Some people, it's like a little factory line. Okay, Ah,
- 55:46Speaker 3: there we go.
- 55:48Speaker 2: Okay, I think I got the whole mouth.
- 55:50Speaker 3: When you get a piece, do you go? Do you
- 55:52Speaker 3: eat it? No?
- 55:53Speaker 2: This is not a what are you talking about? I'm
- 55:58Speaker 2: not looking for something to eat here. If I accidentally swallow, sure,
- 56:02Speaker 2: go for it.
- 56:04Speaker 3: So did the inter manfesting. And then when I'm not
- 56:06Speaker 3: in the eating window, I floss and I go does
- 56:07Speaker 3: that count? Oh?
- 56:08Speaker 2: There we go?
- 56:08Speaker 3: That count? I think that was over the five calorie.
- 56:12Speaker 2: And you don't have an eating disorder? Okay. Now I'm
- 56:15Speaker 2: gonna drink a little water. I feel so clean. Yeah, wow,
- 56:20Speaker 2: I love it. And I've got to end a little
- 56:22Speaker 2: bit of grape in my mouth, which is interesting. It's
- 56:24Speaker 2: a pretty accurate. It's that nice Thailand Children's tilent All
- 56:27Speaker 2: grape that we all love.
- 56:28Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm for it. Why not?
- 56:31Speaker 2: Okay, Well, I think we should play a game. Great,
- 56:34Speaker 2: We're gonna play a game called Gift or a Curse.
- 56:36Speaker 2: But first I need a number between one and ten
- 56:38Speaker 2: from you.
- 56:39Speaker 3: Seven. Okay.
- 56:40Speaker 2: I have to do some light calculating to get our
- 56:43Speaker 2: game pieces. So right now you can promote, recommend, do
- 56:46Speaker 2: whatever you want and I'll be right back.
- 56:47Speaker 3: Great. I have a podcast called the downside where I
- 56:50Speaker 3: complain about things, and I got a comedy specialis's on
- 56:55Speaker 3: YouTube called Thief of Joy. It's free, it's an our
- 56:59Speaker 3: six minutes and it's good. It just broke two million views,
- 57:02Speaker 3: so we're really happy with it. Check out Thief of Joy.
- 57:04Speaker 3: And I'm a tour all over the world, so check
- 57:07Speaker 3: it out.
- 57:07Speaker 2: Beautiful. Yeah, I've heard great things about the special. I'm
- 57:11Speaker 2: excited to watch. Everybody. Get on YouTube, push the thumbs
- 57:15Speaker 2: up button on there, do whatever you have to do.
- 57:18Speaker 2: This is how we play Gift or a Curse. I'm
- 57:20Speaker 2: going to name three things and then you're going to
- 57:22Speaker 2: tell me if there are a gift or a curse
- 57:23Speaker 2: and why. I'll tell if you're right or wrong, because
- 57:25Speaker 2: there are correct answers right right. This first one is
- 57:28Speaker 2: from a listener named Lauren. Gift or a Curse website
- 57:31Speaker 2: pop ups that ask if you want fifteen percent off,
- 57:33Speaker 2: and the only other option is no thanks, I'll pay
- 57:36Speaker 2: full price.
- 57:38Speaker 3: Curse why. I hate that smarmy, that feeling of you're
- 57:43Speaker 3: going to be You're putting words into my mouth. I
- 57:46Speaker 3: want an option, I want no thanks, I'll pay a
- 57:48Speaker 3: full price, and then fuck you. I'd not even I
- 57:52Speaker 3: didn't even read what it was. And tell whoever designed
- 57:55Speaker 3: this they wasted their life. That's what I need. I
- 57:59Speaker 3: hate that. I hate that language thing. I hate it.
- 58:03Speaker 3: No thanks, I don't want to save money that Oh
- 58:05Speaker 3: my god, I see those No thanks, no thanks. I'm
- 58:09Speaker 3: a mister piggy piggybank rich boy and I got all
- 58:11Speaker 3: the money in the world. Oh I hate it.
- 58:15Speaker 2: No thank you. I'm scum. Yeah, yeah, correct, curse. I mean,
- 58:21Speaker 2: for so many reasons. The passive aggression here is so
- 58:24Speaker 2: don't yeah, don't make me the bad guy here. Also,
- 58:27Speaker 2: we don't need everything to have copywriting involved, simple yes
- 58:31Speaker 2: or no.
- 58:32Speaker 3: Who is persuaded by that? Who goes to like, well,
- 58:36Speaker 3: I don't want to pay full price, okay, final filter
- 58:40Speaker 3: fucking form.
- 58:41Speaker 2: I'm not the guy who pays full price.
- 58:42Speaker 3: And you know who it is. You know who it is.
- 58:44Speaker 3: It's old people. There are certain abuses where I go this.
- 58:49Speaker 3: It's not working on us. It's working on people who
- 58:51Speaker 3: are old and frail and are being abused and we
- 58:53Speaker 3: should be angrier about it.
- 58:54Speaker 2: Yes, because they're not Internet natives.
- 58:56Speaker 3: I got a spam phone call once, and you're the
- 58:59Speaker 3: guy he's he said, Grandma, is that you It's me Mark,
- 59:02Speaker 3: I need some money. And I was like, you are
- 59:07Speaker 3: I'm not falling for this. The person who's falling for
- 59:09Speaker 3: this is has dementia.
- 59:11Speaker 2: Yeah, has something, I mean what a vial?
- 59:14Speaker 3: And I went, I went mok, Muke said you I
- 59:18Speaker 3: was gonna fuck with him and here that I can die.
- 59:20Speaker 3: You're faking And he hung up the phone and I
- 59:22Speaker 3: was like, I went to college for musical.
- 59:23Speaker 2: Theater and honestly, good for him, good for him for
- 59:26Speaker 2: you know calling.
- 59:26Speaker 3: It good for him, good for him?
- 59:29Speaker 2: All right, you've gotten one right so far. The second
- 59:31Speaker 2: one is from a listener named Melinda Gift a curse
- 59:34Speaker 2: Coca Cola freestyle machines. Are you familiar with these?
- 59:37Speaker 3: I am? I am? I mean listen. I grew up
- 59:42Speaker 3: definitely where they went pretty crazy with the die Coke
- 59:46Speaker 3: lime cans and the die Coke lemon. I remember when
- 59:48Speaker 3: those were like common. And I've been overseas in Europe.
- 59:50Speaker 3: Die Coke Lime was there and it was good. I
- 59:54Speaker 3: love die Coke. I just think these machines, the few
- 59:58Speaker 3: times I participate in them, it just feels syrup. It
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: feels syrup. It doesn't feel like it's great. I love
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: that people get their options, but I would way rather
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: have a fountain machine that gives me a solid diet coke,
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: like just to killer diet coke then than all the
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: options and they all suck. So I'm gonna go curse.
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: The way that you and I are on the same
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: page about this is historically it's a curse. Oh my god,
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: these things. I mean, first of all, what a failure
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: in engineering, this massive refrigerator size machine that serves one
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: person at a time. The soda is not as good,
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: all of these flavors that you try every one of them,
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: and you're like, oh, actually I just want the regular flavor.
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, just give me.
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: And in an age when these regular soda fountains are
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: becoming extinct, yes, we should be putting all of our
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: energy and resources and getting those back into restaurants. Yes,
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: just pulling up and getting a diet coke that is
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: accurately mixed.
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: And by the way, you know, you know they're data collecting,
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: oh my god, aci recognition. No, but but also they're
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: going which ooh, everyone's ordering raspberry diet coke more and
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: more people. Now we're going to put that in a
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: can you are literally the rats in the lab testing
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: all the shitty mixes, and then they're going to take
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: that data and get something else and.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: They use you.
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: And it's like as opposed to, Hey, why don't you
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: figure out what's good? And when you charge me money,
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: you give me a good thing. That's why I paid
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: you to figure it out. If you said, hey, free,
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: free machine over here, we're taking some samples. We'd like
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: to learn some stuff. Have as much as you want. Great,
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: do not charge me and use me for data.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: Yeah, you're kind of unwittingly participating in a survey.
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: You know there's no way they're not.
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: Of course, that's why it's a computer. Wow where you
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: found I mean you've deep, You've really uncovered something deep here. Okay,
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: so you've gotten two right so far. Finally, this is
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: from a listener named web gif. You a curse turning
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: off auto capitalization on your phone?
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: Turning off help me understand turning it?
- 1:02:14Speaker 4: So?
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: I believe? So then everything you text or write is lowercase.
- 1:02:19Speaker 5: Oh oof. This is a tough one. Ultimately, I don't
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: I would not do that. I would not do that
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: because while there's certain contexts I think like Twitter grammar
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: is so fascinating. I've never been great at grammar per se,
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: but I think it's so interesting that they're like Twitter
- 1:02:45Speaker 5: introduced like a different vibe and like I'll see like
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: you don't YABOOKI young white?
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: Oh yeah, of course.
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: Like when I was starting Twitter, he had already mastered
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: it and moved on and I'd see him right. I
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: was like, you know, things I can't even compar have
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: the way that you artistically engage with this. I don't
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: get it, but you got We're still we gotta caps,
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: we gotta caps. I'm gonna say I'm glad that you
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: have the option. I guess so. I don't know if
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: that makes it a blessing, but no, I don't. I
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: don't want that. I wouldn't. I would never choose to
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: have that thing. I need it. I'm starting sentences. I
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: can tell me your tone.
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: You disagree, you're saying curse.
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: That it exists, or that it's a curse.
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: Correct.
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: Wow, you've really almost you overthought it too much.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: And I was watching you walk up to the cliffs.
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: At the end of the day, you have I overthought it.
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: I said, I have to speak my truth. Yes, any
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: day I couldn't lie.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: What a lesson for everyone to learn today. Yes, just
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: be honest with yourself and everyone else. No, I think
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: that to me, this is like some attempt at looking
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: like you're very laid back and relaxed, but it's false
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: because you had to get into all of the settings
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: to turn that off. So every time I see that,
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: I think about you getting clicking on settings, going into general,
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: finding keyboard, turning this off. That's not laid back. That's
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: not a relaxed vibe. That's someone who's overthinking how they're seen.
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: And also this whole Twitter thing, you know, I feel
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: like I get your point there, Like I think we
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: kind of did away with punctuation on Twitter. I think
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: that's as far as we need to go.
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: I agree.
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: I mean, if I'm texting using my computer, sure, lowercase
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: it's more like texting or like g chat, the golden
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: days of g Chat. But if I'm on my phone,
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: you're going to see a capitalized letter. Yeah.
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I see tweets as like poetry. Sure, but we
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: need that, We need a baseline to communicate with information
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: that's important.
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: Yes, And on the opposite end of that is the
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: and I think this trend is finally dying. Is musicians
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: doing all caps song titles. I think we're done with that.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: That trend has run its course. Yeah you see that
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: now and you're like, oh, you've You're not Beyonce. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: you know. Let's let's just get back to normal normal capitalization.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: I so much thinking about capitalizing. Just do it the
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: regular way. Whatever. Well, you won the game. That's an amazing,
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: very short list of people. Okay, now we need to
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: answer a listener question people are writing into I said,
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: no gifts at gmail dot com or sending voice notes.
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: If you send a voice note, it needs to be
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: in a quiet place and sixty seconds long. Follow rules. Okay,
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: let's answer a question.
- 1:05:25Speaker 4: Hi, Bridger and friends. I have a question for how
- 1:05:31Speaker 4: you would react in a certain situation. So yesterday I
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: was at the grocery store, a very large grocery store.
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: I live in the same city that I grew up in,
- 1:05:38Speaker 4: and I happened to see not one, but two people
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: that I knew from growing up. The first person was
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: someone from middle school. Her kids were yelling at her,
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: and I acted like I didn't see her, which felt
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: like the right thing to do in that second because
- 1:05:52Speaker 4: she seemed really stressed out. But then the second person
- 1:05:55Speaker 4: I saw, I knew him in high school. He was
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: over by the yogurts and I was trying to get
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: a lot of faya with honey and I didn't really
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: want him to comment on how many faye's with honey
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: I was getting. I pretended like I didn't see him.
- 1:06:10Speaker 4: Then I saw him by the half and half. Then
- 1:06:12Speaker 4: I saw him by the eggs, and we were sort
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: of on the same route around the store, and I
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: kept ignoring him. I kept pretending like I didn't see him.
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: This was my best friend's next door neighbor. I borrowed
- 1:06:25Speaker 4: a tenacious d VHS from him that he had taped
- 1:06:27Speaker 4: off of HBO and never returned it. I knew this
- 1:06:30Speaker 4: person well, and I pretended like I didn't see him,
- 1:06:33Speaker 4: and honestly, he didn't say hi either, And I.
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: Feel really weird about it.
- 1:06:37Speaker 4: How do you handle bumping into someone from your deep
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: past that you don't want to talk to? And now
- 1:06:44Speaker 4: it's like, oh do we do? I just not know
- 1:06:46Speaker 4: him now when I see him out in the world,
- 1:06:49Speaker 4: we just ignore each other.
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:06:51Speaker 4: It feels weird, Okay, I love you, Bye.
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: I mean this feels like a fi A with honey
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: add like a secret this is the yogurt.
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think it's a brand f A g E.
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: It's like a white lid, I think, so I never
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: had I think I see it and I'm not a
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: honey person, so I wouldn't eat that. Sure, So that's
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: my The alarm bells are going off. Is this part
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: of them FI a marketing team?
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, but we have to put that aside. This
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: is a This is a situation when you go to
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: your hometown and you go to the grocery store. It
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: is kind of like going to a haunted house because
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: you do not know who's going to be around the corner.
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: How do you feel about the situation.
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: I think that the promise like you you, Silence is
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: always weird. Silence is weird. You you You're brain's pinging.
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: You know their brain's pinging. You got to do something.
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: And the bottom line is like, if you're never gonna
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: you're not gonna be there for another year or whatever,
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: then fine, have an awkward moment you leave. If you're
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: gonna be there and see them multiple times, you got
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: and I think you gotta lean towards you got to
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: give a nod. You're risking the conversation. You're risking the conversation,
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: and you could have an escape plan. Oh, the yogurt's
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: gonna go back quick, I gotta check out. But gradually,
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: if you are, if you slightly rude enough, you can
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: you can get it to a nod. I feel this
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: with Ubers. I feel like it feels it feels very classes.
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: It's hard to talk about because you sound like an
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: ass role, but like sometimes you're in a forty minute
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: drive and you go work. You got shit, you gotta
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: get done. I'm editing that comedy special still and the
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: gradual tapering off of answers to yes, And that's that's
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: the road you gotta take. And ultimately, I don't think
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: you're ever gonna get to a point where you never
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: say anything, but you just establish it's a nod, right
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: not and leave right not and leave well.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: And I feel like she's making a big assumption here
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: that he wasn't ignoring her. Yeah, maybe she's the ignored.
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: Also, how big is this dairy section? If yogurt half
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: and half and some other dairy products.
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: A lot of things to be next to I can't
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: believe you stayed next to them that whole time. Even
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: if it was a stranger, I'd be like, what.
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: Do Yeah, of course you'll have to say something wow, yeah,
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: because it has an outank.
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: God for cows something something three times?
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: Is she afraid that she's gonna want the VHS back?
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: How important is the VHS?
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: I I did want someone who let me a UCB
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: Season one box set the uc before and like twelve
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: years later I happened to see them as a thing.
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: And then after that they texted me and listen, this
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: is on me. I didn't give it back and he
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: chose their like, hey you still got that?
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: Whoa?
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: And I I was like, brother, I will buy it
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: off right now. I will. But it was like it
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: was yeah, so some people still but are recording over
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: a thing.
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like you can find that at a good will.
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: But it's in your head. Say oh you see them
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: go oh my god, I just remembered. Oh I'm not
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: sure where it is. Do you want to buy it
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: for you?
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: I'm sorry the person after twelve years. If you lend
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: somebody something and don't ask for it after two years,
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: it now belongs to them yes, give me a break.
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: My only thought is that maybe he does want it,
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: because if I'm at a grocery store and it's a woman,
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: I don't want to speak to her. I don't know
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: if I happen by accident to follow her two different places.
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: I'm usually I'm going I'm gonna go get my crackers
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: now because I'm scary. I'm feeling scary. I'm feeling scary
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: in the cold of the milk the milk aisle. So
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: maybe he's thinking, maybe he's just like you gonna say
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: something if you hear him humming and it's like a tenacious.
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: Oh now there's a big hat way to song. You
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: got to take the bait on that situation. It's like, Okay,
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: I'm going home now, I will get the VHS. It's
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: an mom's attic.
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: But you want to establish nods. I have a lot
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: of people where like you've just established you nod if
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: you're if you in the neighborhood with someone and you
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: really don't want to be the friend, but you know there,
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: you know them.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: You have to acknowledge another human beings exists. Come on
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: common decency. Yeah, and this woman has not. You know
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: she hasn't practiced any of that. In the grocery store,
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: she's ignored two dear friends.
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: Yeah, what what do you We can't talk to someone
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: at the grocery store. You're busy.
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: What's going on? She's so focused on the yogurt.
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: I'm listening. I'm more like a podcast. I'm listening to things.
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: And so it's just like, oh, Ice, and I wish
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: I had bigger headphones. That's people don't respect to your pod, right,
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: they don't.
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: They don't care what's going on.
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: Then I will try to This is how I like,
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: click it and go hi. And I'm like, I need suck.
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: I need a helmet. I need a helmet.
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: I do a before taking it out, I do even
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: if I heard what they said, I'm sorry, what did
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: you say? Then I take it out. Then it's it's
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: crystal clear that there is audio going into my ears.
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: There's something plugging my ear, and now you've ruined my day.
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: Uh huh uh huh.
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: So maybe if she's so worried, get some giant headphones.
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: Yeah, put on a pair of sunglasses so theyhones.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: Well, we answered the question perfectly. I mean, if you
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: can't complain.
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: You can't complain. You'll get there, you got to, You'll
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: get the nod. You risk a small conversation, but it
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: sounds like you got the skills to be rude enough
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: to curb that conversation.
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: Well, I've got this beautiful croissant to finish, and I'll
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: be able to floss it all out of my teeth,
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: which is amazing. Of course, I'm want to put this
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: at least one bag of these in my car. What
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: a great thing to happen.
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: Now, I got them in every drawer of my house.
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: This is what I am with gum. Now you'll gum
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: in the bag, gum in the car. You never know
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: where you're gonna need it. So it's what a wonderful gift,
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: my pleasure. Thank you for being here, Thank you for
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: having me listener. The podcast is over. Eventually the audio
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: will stop, and hopefully you'll find something exciting to do,
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: or maybe you'll listen to another episode. Maybe you'll write
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: a threatening letter to someone I don't know, find something
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: to do with your day. Goodbye, I said no Gifts

- 1:13:30Speaker 2: the gifts line? Why did you hear? Gonta man?
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: Myself perfectly clear?
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: But you're a guest to me.
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: You gotta come to me empty And I said.
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: No guests.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: Your presences presents enough and I'm already too much stuff.
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: So how did your dad to surbey?
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: Hey me
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: Boo
