- 0:07Speaker 1: He his time now for car Talk right here on
- 0:10Speaker 1: K one, the one you trust. We have done just
- 0:13Speaker 1: toilet and we've got brand Dungeons. We got meek Man
- 0:16Speaker 1: Jason in here to today, guys.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Morning, good morning, bad good morning talk, Good morning Jason,
- 0:22Speaker 2: Good morning to all our listeners out there. We're so
- 0:25Speaker 2: glad you're with us. And it is another beautiful morning
- 0:28Speaker 2: here in Bartlesville. It is looking to towards, you know,
- 0:33Speaker 2: another relatively warm day for this time of year.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Six stars.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I think so, and these clouds might clear
- 0:41Speaker 2: out a little bit, get us warmed up.
- 0:44Speaker 3: It's a you know, it's a busy time of year.
- 0:46Speaker 2: We're all getting ready for Thanksgiving and lots of employee
- 0:50Speaker 2: events coming up.
- 0:51Speaker 3: Or we have this great tradition at Dungeons of having.
- 0:54Speaker 2: The Thanksgiving pot luck Friday before Thanksgiving.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Where oh where, every but he brings a dish and yeah, it.
- 1:04Speaker 4: Is a feast. Yeah, everybody, everybody brings enough food for
- 1:10Speaker 4: the entire dealership Friday afternoon.
- 1:13Speaker 2: There'll be a lot of sleepy people at the dealerships.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Was great, Yeah.
- 1:21Speaker 3: It's it's a lot of fun.
- 1:22Speaker 2: I think Kobe's going to smoke some meat for us,
- 1:25Speaker 2: and yeah, it's it's just such a great time.
- 1:28Speaker 3: And this has been going on since way before I
- 1:31Speaker 3: got here, and you know, we got to keep it
- 1:34Speaker 3: a lot of things like that at Dune just where
- 1:36Speaker 3: you know. We're getting ready.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Next month, December is our We're entering our fifty eighth
- 1:43Speaker 2: year as a Toyota dealer in Barbarosville, fifty seventh anniversary
- 1:49Speaker 2: in December nineteen sixty eight, my grandfather purchased the Toyota franchise,
- 1:54Speaker 2: and of course we were here before that with Fords
- 1:57Speaker 2: and from nineteen forty one and from nineteen twenty nine
- 2:01Speaker 2: for the original dealership out in Tacoha, Oklahoma. But anyway,
- 2:05Speaker 2: really proud to celebrate our anniversary month again and we'll
- 2:09Speaker 2: have a big bout of the special incentives and our
- 2:14Speaker 2: charity promotion will be going on again and getting ready
- 2:18Speaker 2: to send out the letters on that and reach out
- 2:20Speaker 2: to the charities.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Had great winners the last couple of years.
- 2:24Speaker 4: The the what's what do we have blinking?
- 2:31Speaker 3: I did this last night when I was talking.
- 2:33Speaker 4: To so we had hopestone hopes on one in the
- 2:37Speaker 4: first two years we did and two years in a
- 2:40Speaker 4: road and it was the and then I think a roodhole,
- 2:44Speaker 4: no lighthouse.
- 2:45Speaker 2: No light, journey, home home journey. Okay, yeah, we're getting
- 2:51Speaker 2: old time. That's okay. I'm right there with you.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Are the mind is going.
- 2:57Speaker 3: I'm sure many of our listeners can get are edited
- 3:00Speaker 3: of that there. Yeah, season the drive is just too full.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:06Speaker 4: So, but what we were saying is the winners of
- 3:10Speaker 4: these contests the winter, the nonprofits who are selected by
- 3:14Speaker 4: the most customers over the holiday month, they receive twenty
- 3:23Speaker 4: five dollars from Dungeons and then a match from Toyota.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Actually it's a minimum. It's each donation. Each car you
- 3:31Speaker 2: purchase will donate fifty dollars to the charity of your choice.
- 3:36Speaker 2: And so if someone got more than twenty five, that
- 3:39Speaker 2: is true, it keep going up and the match would
- 3:41Speaker 2: go up also.
- 3:43Speaker 3: So anyway, we don't want to get ahead.
- 3:45Speaker 4: And dive into that next week.
- 3:46Speaker 3: But let's I don't want anybody write till December.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Yeah, let's talk a little bit again about Thanksgiving and
- 3:53Speaker 4: people getting is coming down the road, getting out there.
- 3:58Speaker 2: In your car, if you you've got plans to you know,
- 4:02Speaker 2: if some folks are coming to town or you're headed
- 4:05Speaker 2: out of town, be sure to schedule your service or
- 4:09Speaker 2: make sure your car is ready to roll.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Super important. We get kind of this weird.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Right before Thanksgiving we have the the people that are
- 4:18Speaker 2: getting that out of town. And then right you know,
- 4:21Speaker 2: after Thanksgiving, we have a lot of the people that
- 4:23Speaker 2: are coming into town, a lot of the college students
- 4:26Speaker 2: that come back and such, or other people visiting their
- 4:30Speaker 2: grandparents or whatever in Bartlesville coming and.
- 4:33Speaker 3: You know, exactly exactly we love that time of year, and.
- 4:40Speaker 4: You can, you know, you can. You can just drive
- 4:42Speaker 4: right up to Dungeons Toyota and just walk in get
- 4:45Speaker 4: some service. Or there's an advantage for going on our
- 4:49Speaker 4: website Dungestoyota dot com going to our service page. If
- 4:53Speaker 4: you make an appointment, there is a ten dollars coupon,
- 4:57Speaker 4: So if you schedule service, that is ten dollars off
- 5:01Speaker 4: of anything.
- 5:02Speaker 3: That allows us to be ready for you when you
- 5:04Speaker 3: come in.
- 5:04Speaker 2: We you know, we still have to write you up
- 5:06Speaker 2: and do the inspection and go through your vehicle in
- 5:09Speaker 2: a proper way, but that way, if we know you're coming,
- 5:12Speaker 2: we can pretty much have the team.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Ready to do that.
- 5:16Speaker 1: What I'd like to about your team is that they're
- 5:18Speaker 1: not too there to just take care of what you'd
- 5:20Speaker 1: say they're looking around.
- 5:22Speaker 3: No, we do a full inspection.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Do they time your cars and they let you know
- 5:26Speaker 2: what's coming down the road, And we really like, you know,
- 5:28Speaker 2: we understand that sometimes.
- 5:30Speaker 3: People just need to come when they can, that.
- 5:33Speaker 2: They that they're going to come and when it's convenient
- 5:36Speaker 2: for them, and they may not be able to schedule
- 5:38Speaker 2: an appointment. They might do not be able to anticipate that.
- 5:41Speaker 2: I know some dealers that kind of force you into
- 5:44Speaker 2: an appointment system. I heard from a previous customer of
- 5:47Speaker 2: ours that he had gotten into that cycle and that
- 5:51Speaker 2: they they you know, he brought his car in, they
- 5:54Speaker 2: told him, you have to schedule an appointment, call this number.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Then he called the number schedule an appointment. When he showed up,
- 6:00Speaker 2: they didn't the appointment wasn't in the system. You know,
- 6:04Speaker 2: these aren't people in Bartlesville you're calling.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Uh.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Then then they said, okay, well we'll go ahead and
- 6:10Speaker 2: do it when you but it will take two days,
- 6:12Speaker 2: which they hadn't told him in the first place. And
- 6:15Speaker 2: then so when he came back two days later, what happened.
- 6:18Speaker 2: They didn't know they'd forgotten the car was there, they
- 6:21Speaker 2: hadn't touched it. And when he got angry, they told
- 6:24Speaker 2: him he could take they could take, he could take
- 6:26Speaker 2: his business elsewhere.
- 6:28Speaker 1: I would have done that right there on his plot.
- 6:31Speaker 3: I was pretty aghast.
- 6:32Speaker 2: And you know, I just I know how hard our
- 6:36Speaker 2: business is sometimes, and it's easy to get frustrated, but
- 6:40Speaker 2: you know, you got to have empathy for a customers
- 6:43Speaker 2: been through something like that, and and you know we
- 6:46Speaker 2: would never do that, no, And so if you are
- 6:52Speaker 2: frustrated at pleas, come to Dungeons Toyota. We service all
- 6:57Speaker 2: makes and models. It will help you as best we can.
- 7:01Speaker 2: If we have to help you get your vehicle into
- 7:03Speaker 2: another dealership, we'll do that for you too. And so
- 7:09Speaker 2: we can't do some things like warranty and other for
- 7:12Speaker 2: other manufacturers and stuff like that, but Lily, we will
- 7:16Speaker 2: help you.
- 7:16Speaker 3: I mean, that is what we do.
- 7:18Speaker 2: That's our whole company philosophy is built around the customer.
- 7:23Speaker 2: And we know, you know, after over ninety five years
- 7:27Speaker 2: selling cars in Oklahoma that it just we can't. As
- 7:30Speaker 2: my brother Bruce has this great saying he says to everybody,
- 7:34Speaker 2: we can't do it without you, and and it's it's true,
- 7:38Speaker 2: you know, it is one of those things that that
- 7:41Speaker 2: you know, wouldn't happen if weren't for our customers. And
- 7:45Speaker 2: just as we're getting ready for Thanksgiving, you know, I'm
- 7:48Speaker 2: so thankful for our customers, for our great employees, and
- 7:53Speaker 2: for their support. And you know what keeps it going
- 7:57Speaker 2: gives us the opportunity to get up and do it
- 8:00Speaker 2: again today. You know, my you know, I know, my
- 8:04Speaker 2: approach to the car business is really about taking care
- 8:07Speaker 2: of everybody. And if you listen to the show, you
- 8:10Speaker 2: kind of understand that my my heart is in taking
- 8:15Speaker 2: care of our employees and our customers, and I you know,
- 8:19Speaker 2: it's not about making a.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Big profit, and we have to do that to survive.
- 8:25Speaker 2: But you know, my first priority is to take care
- 8:28Speaker 2: of our employees and their customers and to provide that
- 8:32Speaker 2: that great, that personal service for our customers and the opportunity.
- 8:38Speaker 3: That our employees want and need.
- 8:41Speaker 2: To work in a great place that's fun to work
- 8:43Speaker 2: and and that they know they can get they're respected
- 8:48Speaker 2: and well taken care of, and that uh, you know,
- 8:51Speaker 2: we have great We're in our benefit renewal program and
- 8:54Speaker 2: and we I spend weeks working on that every year,
- 8:58Speaker 2: trying to build the best benefit it's program for our employees.
- 9:02Speaker 2: We were very unique in the car business. You know,
- 9:05Speaker 2: many will have.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Four oh one k's and you know we might match it,
- 9:09Speaker 3: and we do.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Of course, we have a health insurance plan where we
- 9:12Speaker 2: pay one hundred percent of the employee's based health insurance.
- 9:17Speaker 2: You can buy up two different programs, but you know,
- 9:20Speaker 2: we just want to make sure our employees have health insurance.
- 9:23Speaker 2: We have a lot of great an HSA option in
- 9:27Speaker 2: the health plan which allows.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Even young people to look at this.
- 9:31Speaker 2: It's a great way to save money outside of you know,
- 9:36Speaker 2: pre tax, so it's it's not taxed and a lot
- 9:39Speaker 2: of times, you know, in the four oh one k
- 9:40Speaker 2: you have to keep that money till you're sixty three
- 9:43Speaker 2: or sixty two, sixty two in order to access it
- 9:48Speaker 2: and without and you can't.
- 9:50Speaker 3: You know, obviously, we have health care.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Needs throughout our lives, and so it's a way to
- 9:55Speaker 2: get those pre tax savings, make them available to you
- 9:59Speaker 2: when you're young and build some wealth and some savings
- 10:02Speaker 2: that you're going to need anyway over time, whether it's
- 10:05Speaker 2: having children or unexpected health issues. So we really try
- 10:09Speaker 2: to build that safety network for our employees, just just
- 10:13Speaker 2: like we do in the community with our nonprofit support
- 10:17Speaker 2: and with the all the great programs in Bartlesville that
- 10:21Speaker 2: we love to focus on on the radio show with the.
- 10:25Speaker 4: Car Dealership with a Charitable Heart.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Well, that's awesome, and you know Toyota helps us with
- 10:31Speaker 2: that too.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Like you mentioned, they.
- 10:33Speaker 4: Of our gifts and great company.
- 10:35Speaker 3: They really are.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Their values and how they have worked with us since
- 10:40Speaker 2: nineteen sixty eight or are really great and I know
- 10:45Speaker 2: they want to take care of the customer too. You know,
- 10:48Speaker 2: every car breaks down, sometimes there are things like recalls
- 10:52Speaker 2: and failures on the vehicle, but when that happens with
- 10:54Speaker 2: the Toyota, you can you can count on them to
- 10:58Speaker 2: do it the right way. Those may you may have
- 11:02Speaker 2: heard if you about the Tundra recall from twenty threes,
- 11:06Speaker 2: and there might be some more added to that I hear,
- 11:09Speaker 2: but this is a I think the truth of the
- 11:12Speaker 2: matter is the Tundra recall on certain engines had some
- 11:16Speaker 2: debris left over from the manufacturing process of the engine.
- 11:21Speaker 2: It's V six gasoline engine hadn't affected the hybrids as
- 11:27Speaker 2: far as we know, but it's only affected about one
- 11:29Speaker 2: percent of the of the engines. Toyota has recalled one
- 11:35Speaker 2: hundred percent of those engines and is replacing the entire engine.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Wow, just let that sink in a little bit.
- 11:45Speaker 2: So this is costing them a lot of money. They
- 11:47Speaker 2: could they could do a short block or some other
- 11:50Speaker 2: kind of repair on that engine that would save them money,
- 11:53Speaker 2: but it wouldn't be the right thing for the customer.
- 11:56Speaker 2: And while it's only one percent, you no if you're
- 12:01Speaker 2: a one percent or.
- 12:02Speaker 3: In the ninety nine.
- 12:03Speaker 2: And so they've invested in their customers to take care
- 12:06Speaker 2: of that. And uh, you know, truth is, we've you know,
- 12:10Speaker 2: this has been going on for over a year now.
- 12:12Speaker 2: We've done i think three or four of them, so
- 12:14Speaker 2: it's not and we sell lots of tundras, so it's
- 12:19Speaker 2: not a common problem. And none of the ones that
- 12:23Speaker 2: we had were exhibiting the issue, so they were they're
- 12:28Speaker 2: not they didn't have the problem.
- 12:29Speaker 3: But they all got a brand new Inje out a
- 12:32Speaker 3: bundance of some of them.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Will you know, some of these trucks had one hundred
- 12:35Speaker 2: and fifty thousand.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Miles on them.
- 12:37Speaker 1: It's like getting a brand new truck.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Yeah, it basically is it's awesome.
- 12:41Speaker 2: And you know, you don't want to make a big
- 12:43Speaker 2: deal out of the problems, but every manufacturer has problems,
- 12:47Speaker 2: and it's how you how you step up when you
- 12:49Speaker 2: have the problem that really, you know, differentiates to it.
- 12:54Speaker 2: And we and we tried to do that at Dudges
- 12:56Speaker 2: as well, because I know we're not perfect and you know,
- 12:59Speaker 2: nobody is.
- 13:00Speaker 3: And but it's.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Being able to take care of our customers and respond
- 13:04Speaker 2: when there's an issue. That's That's something I learned a
- 13:07Speaker 2: long time ago when I first really worked for my
- 13:11Speaker 2: father in the car business in the mid nineties.
- 13:14Speaker 3: He can't at my first role, I call it being.
- 13:16Speaker 2: His heat shield, where I would handle customers, that says.
- 13:22Speaker 2: And had a dealership in Tulsa and uh Dungdeus Brothers
- 13:28Speaker 2: for it at the time, and and uh you know,
- 13:31Speaker 2: I always you know, the balancing of understanding the point
- 13:36Speaker 2: customers point of view and the dealership side, trying to
- 13:40Speaker 2: work out compromise and and and come to to a
- 13:43Speaker 2: fair understanding.
- 13:45Speaker 3: You It's kind of like.
- 13:47Speaker 4: Being a judge.
- 13:48Speaker 3: I think in a way, we have.
- 13:50Speaker 2: To be able to find the middle grand find some
- 13:53Speaker 2: you know, the truth of the matter.
- 13:55Speaker 3: I mean, if somebody is guilty, they're guilty.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Yes they using the judge or legal analogy, but it's
- 14:02Speaker 2: the truth is Yeah, that that taught me a lot about, uh,
- 14:05Speaker 2: taking care of people and the and you know, so
- 14:08Speaker 2: many of the people that have problems, I've realized if
- 14:12Speaker 2: you if you stand up and fix it, those become
- 14:15Speaker 2: your customers for life. They they really understand that you're
- 14:20Speaker 2: the customer.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Service is your priority.
- 14:23Speaker 2: And you know, as a kind of a middleman in
- 14:26Speaker 2: this stuff, a lot of times we didn't make the
- 14:29Speaker 2: Toyota engine or any any problem you have with the vehicle.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Is usually not caused by us.
- 14:35Speaker 2: And you know, but we're the ones who want to
- 14:37Speaker 2: have to be represent Toyota and fix it. And uh
- 14:41Speaker 2: so we take that responsibility really seriously and really want
- 14:46Speaker 2: our customers to to know that we're there for them
- 14:48Speaker 2: and that we're gonna do everything we can to take
- 14:52Speaker 2: care of them. And I'm really proud to know that
- 14:54Speaker 2: the whole team really lives that. And Uh Anyway, it's
- 14:58Speaker 2: a it's a unique thing that about our dealership.
- 15:01Speaker 4: This is uh, this is our reputation, and this is
- 15:04Speaker 4: why we have so much repeat business, generational business it's
- 15:10Speaker 4: pretty incredible.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Not a whole lot of dealerships can say.
- 15:13Speaker 2: That, Well, we don't, you know, focus on selling every car.
- 15:18Speaker 2: We really want to keep our customers that we have,
- 15:20Speaker 2: so nurturing that process of how we sell and and
- 15:25Speaker 2: and their whole ownership cycle of the vehicle. That's really
- 15:28Speaker 2: what it's all about.
- 15:30Speaker 3: You know.
- 15:30Speaker 2: There are so many things going on in the car business,
- 15:33Speaker 2: and always new technology and great new vehicles. Right now,
- 15:37Speaker 2: we're getting getting excited about the brand new BZ.
- 15:41Speaker 3: You know, while electric vehicles are.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Kind of on the off right now with the changes
- 15:46Speaker 2: in the tax credits and such, Toyota has builds a
- 15:50Speaker 2: great electric vehicle.
- 15:52Speaker 3: They've been kind of slow in bringing.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Those out, but we've got they We have a brand
- 15:57Speaker 2: new b Z which will be out. We'll have our
- 16:00Speaker 2: first one in the next few weeks. It's got over
- 16:02Speaker 2: three hundred miles range. It's a beautiful car. It's got
- 16:06Speaker 2: a little more larger than the old BZ four X,
- 16:09Speaker 2: which was Toyota's first battery electric vehicle.
- 16:13Speaker 3: We're gonna get more and more of those.
- 16:15Speaker 2: They've They've got also a couple other battery electric vehicles.
- 16:19Speaker 4: It'll be out in the there's a somewhere floating around
- 16:23Speaker 4: there is the new battery operated Toyota pickup. Just drop
- 16:29Speaker 4: dropped into Asia pickup possibility. I think you'll you'll probably
- 16:33Speaker 4: see what they call a land cruiser sport, which will
- 16:37Speaker 4: be uh and like in the Broncos sport, which is
- 16:40Speaker 4: smaller than the big Bronco, this will be the same
- 16:43Speaker 4: about the same size, but a whole different body, and
- 16:47Speaker 4: it'll be a battery electric land cruiser. But of course,
- 16:50Speaker 4: Toyota is still doubling down on hybrid.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Investments announced this week where they're gonna invest ten billion dollars.
- 17:01Speaker 4: I think fourteen billion dollars a battery plant here in
- 17:04Speaker 4: the United States.
- 17:05Speaker 2: So really continuing to the cars in America and and
- 17:10Speaker 2: build the batteries in America. You know that's Toyta has
- 17:13Speaker 2: been doing that for years. Well, they are a Japanese
- 17:17Speaker 2: company in quotes, you know, they invested heavily in North America,
- 17:22Speaker 2: a thunderplant down by San Antonio. The cameras are made
- 17:27Speaker 2: there in Kentucky near Louisville.
- 17:29Speaker 4: There's you know, we have sixtys in the world are
- 17:33Speaker 4: made here in the United States. And it does look
- 17:36Speaker 4: like Toyota is going to start exporting from the United
- 17:39Speaker 4: States back to Asia. It is an American company, truly
- 17:45Speaker 4: welcome to the New World.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Yes it is.
- 17:48Speaker 2: But you know, none of that should be a surprise
- 17:50Speaker 2: to people, know Toyota, because they plan for this.
- 17:53Speaker 3: They you know, I think they realized.
- 17:56Speaker 2: And mister Toyota, who is the chairman of the board
- 18:00Speaker 2: or Toyota International, he realized that that building all those
- 18:06Speaker 2: electric vehicles and rushing into that was not the right
- 18:09Speaker 2: decision to make. That the consumers weren't ready for it,
- 18:12Speaker 2: that it was going to take things like those tax credits,
- 18:15Speaker 2: which are dependent on what governments and office and how
- 18:18Speaker 2: that plays out. And the truth is, Toyota's hybrids allow
- 18:22Speaker 2: a lot, a real flexible approach to that where you
- 18:25Speaker 2: get better fuel economy, where you can get a you know,
- 18:28Speaker 2: a plug in that has a range of about forty
- 18:31Speaker 2: to fifty miles on pure electric but also has the
- 18:35Speaker 2: gas engine. That's called the prime lineup in Toyota. We've
- 18:39Speaker 2: got it right now. I think that presb on the lot.
- 18:42Speaker 2: So you know, come check that out. That we have

- 20:21Speaker 2: But the cool thing is to be able to in
- 20:23Speaker 2: there and just compare that without having to go back
- 20:25Speaker 2: and forth between the sales manager and the salesperson and
- 20:29Speaker 2: what and if you get close to something you're comfortable with,
- 20:32Speaker 2: you can come into the dealership and we'll pick up
- 20:35Speaker 2: right there where you left off in that tool and
- 20:39Speaker 2: try to keep it just as transparent and fast and
- 20:42Speaker 2: fun as possible. And that's what our Simple Price is
- 20:45Speaker 2: all about, is just keeping that build around your needs.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Our non commissioned sales professionals, both the sales pros, the
- 20:54Speaker 2: product specialists we call them, are in our sales management finance,
- 21:00Speaker 2: new and used car managers are all paid a salary,
- 21:03Speaker 2: not paid commission on anything, you know, so not paid
- 21:06Speaker 2: on the profit they make selling you a car. And
- 21:10Speaker 2: you know they're they're paid well, of course, but they're
- 21:13Speaker 2: just not incentivized to try to make more money off.
- 21:16Speaker 3: Yet it's meant to align.
- 21:19Speaker 2: The sales process with the customer. That's that's really all
- 21:23Speaker 2: all that that does. That's really big and different, and
- 21:26Speaker 2: so our Simple Price and the noncommissioned sales team our
- 21:30Speaker 2: goals to make car buying just just clear, honest, and
- 21:34Speaker 2: stress free. That's that's the whole approach to selling cars.
- 21:37Speaker 2: And you know, I see I keep you know, as
- 21:40Speaker 2: we just keep kind of preaching this, I hear more
- 21:43Speaker 2: and more customers saying that is the best buying process
- 21:47Speaker 2: I've ever seen.
- 21:48Speaker 3: Why don't other dealers do it this way?
- 21:50Speaker 2: And we had some folks come all the way from
- 21:53Speaker 2: Arkansas to buy a used suv and they ended up
- 21:58Speaker 2: buying two vehicles actually, and it was, you know, one
- 22:03Speaker 2: of those things where they were and they both sold
- 22:05Speaker 2: cars before they were they were business and they were like,
- 22:11Speaker 2: why why haven't a lot of people done this for years?
- 22:14Speaker 3: This is how it should be done.
- 22:16Speaker 2: And uh, you know that we're just really proud to
- 22:19Speaker 2: have that you know, reputation and be able to take
- 22:22Speaker 2: care of our customers, take care of you.
- 22:23Speaker 3: If you're interested in a Toyota, come come check it out.
- 22:27Speaker 3: You know, we were not.
- 22:28Speaker 2: The biggest in the world, but we're also not a
- 22:30Speaker 2: big corporate car dealer. We don't have other locations or
- 22:34Speaker 2: or other uh you know, communities that we serve, and
- 22:38Speaker 2: so we're here for our customers and and we like
- 22:41Speaker 2: being small, and I think that allows us to be
- 22:45Speaker 2: nimble and quick too.
- 22:46Speaker 3: We can really change.
- 22:47Speaker 2: On a dime and and keep evolving where we're not
- 22:51Speaker 2: complacent about, you know, just being around for ninety five
- 22:54Speaker 2: years and doing things like.
- 22:55Speaker 3: We always have. We want to keep evolving.
- 22:58Speaker 2: We know that the people's expectations in retail have just
- 23:03Speaker 2: changed so dramatically.
- 23:04Speaker 3: We can all get and you can.
- 23:07Speaker 2: We want toothpaste delivered to your front door today this afternoon,
- 23:12Speaker 2: and we know the company that does that has a
- 23:15Speaker 2: car sales process too. You know, you can get Amazon
- 23:19Speaker 2: Autos and buy a new Hyundai.
- 23:22Speaker 3: You know, I wouldn't want to buy a car that way.
- 23:25Speaker 2: I want to know who I'm buying it from. That
- 23:28Speaker 2: if I have an issue, I can come in and
- 23:30Speaker 2: talk to you about it. You know that the owner
- 23:33Speaker 2: of the companies there on the showroom every day, that
- 23:36Speaker 2: his families throughout the dealership, that we live on our
- 23:40Speaker 2: reputation and we're going to stand behind what we do.
- 23:42Speaker 2: That that's uh, that's pretty uh. I think that's our
- 23:46Speaker 2: our unique selling US Dungeons Toyota.
- 23:51Speaker 1: If it's got your name on it, there's somebody with
- 23:53Speaker 1: that same name, maybe two or three of them running
- 23:56Speaker 1: around in the buildings. You're protecting the name too.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Exactly where very proud of that. The legacy of what
- 24:02Speaker 3: we do.
- 24:03Speaker 2: You know, Bartlesville is built on a rich history of
- 24:06Speaker 2: people that invested.
- 24:08Speaker 3: In our community.
- 24:09Speaker 2: And I know my grandfather was so proud to move
- 24:13Speaker 2: to Bartlesville and be the Ford Dealer here in nineteen
- 24:15Speaker 2: forty one.
- 24:16Speaker 3: And you know, he.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Started sponsoring that baseball team that year and we're in
- 24:23Speaker 2: the Guinness Book of Records for being the longest corporate
- 24:26Speaker 2: sponsor of a sports team in the world for sponsoring
- 24:29Speaker 2: American Legion baseball here in Bartlesville. And you know, that
- 24:32Speaker 2: whole that started because he was on a team. I
- 24:36Speaker 2: have a picture of it in my office where he
- 24:38Speaker 2: was on a basketball team for the Ford Dealer in
- 24:42Speaker 2: Tonkawa in nineteen twenty four. There's he's one, he and
- 24:48Speaker 2: two of his brothers. Their father had passed away and
- 24:51Speaker 2: their their mother moved him from Blackwell to Tonkawha. She
- 24:56Speaker 2: got a job at the library. I had to start working,
- 24:58Speaker 2: and there had been a Methodist minister in Blackwell, and
- 25:02Speaker 2: so they moved to Tonkawa. The three boys went to
- 25:05Speaker 2: work at the Ford Dealership all five of the kids
- 25:08Speaker 2: graduated from college went on to great careers.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Two of them became Ford dealers.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Uh that five years after that picture, right at the
- 25:18Speaker 2: on the at the beginning of the depression, they got
- 25:22Speaker 2: the incredible opportunity to buy a Ford dealership.
- 25:25Speaker 3: And and you.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Know, so we've been through all that, all the different
- 25:33Speaker 2: phases in the car business, and you know, and really
- 25:36Speaker 2: take great pride in being adaptive in that as.
- 25:40Speaker 3: The whole business has changed.
- 25:42Speaker 2: You know, we've seen you know, I talked about it
- 25:44Speaker 2: a few weeks ago, the big consolidation in the auto
- 25:47Speaker 2: industry and and uh, you know, we're proud to still
- 25:50Speaker 2: be small and and kind of like it all started
- 25:55Speaker 2: where you know, we're kind of you know what what
- 25:59Speaker 2: made made the car business great? I think, and you know,
- 26:02Speaker 2: we all let need our cars. There's such a thing
- 26:06Speaker 2: in America that you know, provided us that freedom of
- 26:09Speaker 2: moveability and the ability to to.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Just go where we wanted to go.
- 26:13Speaker 2: And you think about it now and how dependent we
- 26:16Speaker 2: are on the on them, uh for transportation. You know,
- 26:19Speaker 2: whatever socioeconomic level you are, you depend on that to
- 26:24Speaker 2: get to your job, to get the kids to the doctor,
- 26:27Speaker 2: to to get your food home, you know all that,
- 26:30Speaker 2: and and you know it's uh, we're real proud to
- 26:33Speaker 2: help people in all situations do that, whether you're you know,
- 26:37Speaker 2: you know, there's so many examples where we've helped people
- 26:41Speaker 2: buy cars and you know, whether they have good credit
- 26:44Speaker 2: or bad credit, or or need help or getting you know,
- 26:48Speaker 2: just you don't have anything an old car that's breaking down,
- 26:52Speaker 2: and and uh.
- 26:53Speaker 3: You know will assist in that.
- 26:54Speaker 2: We have many of our great customers involved in local
- 26:58Speaker 2: charities that will bring those people to us and we
- 27:00Speaker 2: work out a special deal with them and they often
- 27:04Speaker 2: contribute to that. And you know, we did that just
- 27:07Speaker 2: just a few weeks ago. And really proud to help
- 27:11Speaker 2: people out. And so it's really why we're in.
- 27:15Speaker 1: The business and we're thankful for it.
- 27:18Speaker 4: Is that ye to be thankful, and we're thankful we are.
- 27:25Speaker 4: Can't be like that when I teach you guys here
- 27:27Speaker 4: in Bartlesville taking care of us.
