- Coming up next on The Jeff Crilley Show, you're going to meet the great Doctor. Lucette Beall. She is an author, speaker, coach. She's my friend, and she's going to teach us all how to retrain our brain. Next. Well, I think we're all guilty of this negative self talk. Many of us wake up with the wrong words. You know, this is gonna be a hard day. I need more sleep. We're actually setting a stage for a horrible day because we're not speaking to ourselves kindly, I think all of us are guilty of that. Doctor. Lucette is in the studio. She's a veterinarian, best selling author, speaker, coach, and you are the founder of The Brain Reset Method, which we're gonna get into in a minute. But let's talk about your journey. Like, how did this all start for you? Were you always fascinated with the brain and and how we think about ourselves? Honestly, no. Mean my science background helped when it got to that point but really I was just going through life thinking you know whatever thought goes through your head is whatever thought goes through your head, whatever happens happens and you just deal and then I ended up in several challenging situations in a row that really changed things and the first thing that happened was, right after my divorce was final three days after actually I found a lump in my breast and ended up being diagnosed with cancer. I was a single parent I hadn't asked for child support I was self employed so I had no paid sick days and I was facing fifteen months of cancer treatment and with surgery multiple surgeries chemotherapy radiation And getting through that challenge, I learned a lot. And then I ended up a few years later in a situation where my brother had suffered a severe traumatic brain injury, which he wasn't supposed to live or ever get out of an institution. And he did all of those things but life was really hard and he ended up being put into a state mental hospital in Oklahoma and he was going to have to live the rest of his life there unless I stepped out to help him and everybody told me not to my banker, my parents, everybody, because they said I would fail, I would lose everything. But I just knew I was the only one that could help him. And so I stepped out to help him, but then it did get really hard. And I struggled financially because I couldn't be in the business full time and help him. He couldn't be left at home alone all day. So I got him in a better place but then the business was struggling and I struggled for three years and worked harder, worked six days a week, you know, did the books myself, tried to do all these things, and it was getting worse. And I one morning I woke up, I'm several $100,000 in debt, I'm three years in, and I said, are you willing to go bankrupt? Are you willing to walk away from your clients customers and not only that but walk away from the businesses that trusted you with their money you know the people that you owe and I wasn't. From an integrity point of view I couldn't do that. So then I said, alright, I have to do, I have to make a decision, I'm not gonna go bankrupt, I have to make that decision every day and I have to do something different because what I've been doing is clearly not working. And literally within a year of making that decision, I went from several $100,000 in debt to almost out of debt. By the end of the next year, I paid a big cash down payment because I was self employed on a new home because I had sold my home to help my brother and it was our first year as a million dollar business. Wow. Two years. Gotta give you a high five on that. Thank you. That is when and then there were some other big challenges after that and but in when I got it had to do with COVID, my parents were in a bad place health wise still lived on a ranch in Oklahoma and I was the only one who could take care of them but I have a I'm we're running an essential business in COVID shutdown and I swore then I'm like I'm not going back where I went when I was struggling and so I used every single thing that I had learned and taught myself more, began to understand the neuroscience more because at first I didn't know how to I didn't know what I was doing that was working like why it was working I had to learn that. And then it became a passion to teach others because we are all meant to live extraordinary lives and each and every person has unique gifts and talents that the world is meant to have. Yes. But when you are telling yourself the things that we're taught and it's so common in society the things that we're telling ourselves that are the opposite of the way our brain works so we're unintentionally keeping our brain stuck. So during those three years I was beating myself up for not being enough. I knew I was supposed to step out and help my brother but because it was hard I was blaming myself and I was saying all these things to myself And when I changed what I was doing and started talking differently to myself and started working hard to have a positive mindset, I started walking into the business and seeing everything that was going right and in those three years I was walking in the business and seeing everything that was going wrong and that brain loop keeps our chemicals, the cortisol high, the positive chemistries low and shuts down your brain because your activating system looks for proof of what you're saying. So when we say something's going to be hard or a challenge it looks for proof that it's going to be hard. It's not looking for solutions it's filtering out all the solutions that are available. So all those solutions that I found in that year that I almost got out of debt were available those three years that I was struggling. But because of what I was telling myself and what it was doing to my brain loop, I couldn't see them. So God the universe can give us everything we ask for but if we're telling ourselves we're not worthy, we're not ready, then we can't see because our brain is filtering it out. Yes. And then we say to ourselves, oh it wasn't meant for us, oh I'm not ready, Oh, it's not time. And it is. You're a brilliant storyteller. Can listen to you all day. Let's go ahead and pull up her website and as we scroll down the website, why don't you talk about the kinds of audiences that you like to speak to, the kinds of clients you like to coach? Well, I really love coaching women and from really from in their forties to their sixties, late sixties, because so many times we've given up at that point or we're reaching a point where we want more but we don't know why we're not getting it. We're working hard and we don't seem to be getting there. Or sometimes we think it's too late. And honestly, 's my sweet spot and yet I attract younger women, I attract men because really the brain reset method anybody can use and we all talk to ourselves in ways that we shouldn't. Well, you teed that up perfectly. Let's go to the page on your website that talks about the Brain Reset Method and, is that an acronym? Brain stands for? It is. It is an acronym. So, B is for Build 100% Responsibility. Know that in any situation, don't give your power away by saying it's somebody else or it's the politics or the economy. Like there's so many different ways that we give that away without realizing it. R is reframe because we need to reframe what we're saying to ourselves and we need to understand how to reframe because reframe you can't do toxic positivity you cannot go from I can't do math and I've been saying that for twenty years to I'm great at math and it's gonna happen because what you feel inside is your barometer and you're not gonna believe it so you can't you can only receive as big as you believe. That's beautiful. So you have to figure that out and then adjust as you go And then A is awareness and appreciation because if you don't know what you're telling yourself you can't change it and that's what's keeping you stuck. Alright? I is integrity, inspiration and intuition. So you integrate an intention as well because you got to decide. You got to set your intentions and we don't we just let life decide for us without realizing we're giving away our power to choose And N is neuro aligned navigation. So, it's about knowing whether you're in alignment or out of alignment and then how to get back there. That's absolutely brilliant. So, how do people engage you? The Brain Method, for instance, if they came to your website and saw this, are they signing up for a course? Tell us more about I actually have a free, Your Brain Reset Blueprint. Mhmm. And it actually walks you through in five emails each of them you can read in four minutes or less walks you through one of the five principles of what your brain is doing that you don't know it's doing and then how to change it. And that's absolutely free and they can sign up and we'll that website on the screen in a minute. You were telling me a story just before we started about a recent success story. Yes, so I have two funny stories for you the first is a client and we're talking about the brain we're talking about what we're telling ourselves and how it comes true because if you tell yourself it's a challenge your brain is looking for proof that it's a challenge so it continues to be a challenge because you can't see outside of the challenges because you're not giving the brain the right instructions. Yes. So we're having this conversation and all of a sudden her eyes get really big and she looks at me and she says, Oh my gosh! She started a new business about a year ago, and she said, I wrote in my journal, like when I was praying and writing, I wrote in challenge after challenge, I'm gonna have this challenge and I'm gonna have this challenge and I'm gonna deal with this. She said, I literally wrote and created what I'm living right now in my business. And she said, as soon as we get off this call, I'm going to rewrite that. Wow. I love that. Yeah. The fact that she realized that in real time something that she could do something about which is the whole point because she needed to change the story she was telling herself and if she didn't rewrite it that story still quietly programming her brain and rewriting it changes it and the thing I told her was here's where we also get stuck, we think we have to have the perfect rewrite so we can now win and then we get stuck trying to write it right? No no just write something that feels better right now, your barometer is how you feel and when you feel better then three weeks or a month from now you may rewrite it again because you're at a new place and you're like well this doesn't feel so good I want to write something that feels better and that's how you do the reframe process in a way that works is all you're looking for is how to feel a little bit better because that's going to open your brain up your reticular activating system is going to start looking for solutions and it brings your cerebral cortex online to be creative. That's beautiful you mentioned, you had a couple of stories. Well the other one that I thought was interesting because this is how pervasive it is in our society and why this I'm so passionate about this. I was walking I was just out walking and I saw three young girls probably early teenagers 12 to 13 somewhere in there and they were obviously practicing cheer so they were probably getting ready for cheer tryouts and there was no adults around and every time one of them would mess up they would go run a lap and here's the thing we've taught it so well that we should punish ourselves in order to learn that's not how our brain works so it starts to create the person who's running the most is gonna start feeling like she's a failure compared to the others they may all start feeling a little bit that way if they're struggling and they're not giving their brain any tools to get it the next time. You actually need to say how could I connect these? How could I connect this mood to this mood that would help me remember it? Or say okay it's gonna be muscle memory so let's just do this one part over and over until I get it. Alright now we can move to the next part. Either way you want to be solution focused and when you're running you're in you're choosing to beat yourself up and we've been taught it so well that they're doing it by themselves in a part. Yes. And they all think that's the way they're gonna learn it. Well, you make me think about that Olympian who, everybody assumed he's gonna win the gold medal. They called him the quad god for instance. Yes. And he had the yips or whatever and he messed it up. And then I think there were these stories about him having almost suicidal thoughts after that. I mean, is exactly what we're talking about. Mhmm. Yeah. Because he he felt so badly himself about failing people around him and you know what the most important thing we have to remember is our relationship should be with us and God the universe and we need to connect there and take everybody else out of the equation and then you have your relationship with them after this relationship. Not leaning, we have been taught to look at others for to validate who we are. Yes. So when everybody's calling him the quad god and all those things and that's his validation is from outside which there was so much of it and he's so young right and the whole world tends to operate that way. So of course it's even more crushing if something like that happens. And you hope what he learns out of this is the only thing that matters is his relationship with himself and for that you can go to the young girl who won, who quit for two years came back and skated for the joy of it and did it her way. She set the rules. I'm not going to you know her father had originally you know she was she was she had the same thing happen as he did at an Olympics when she was 16 walked away from it for two years came back completely nobody's ever done it the way she did it. She did it completely herself on her terms and give me her name. I can see her she has the gold and the brown ring. I'm going to have it too. And she is, I mean, she is the epitome Yes. Of actually living the brain reset method, honestly. You are a very popular podcaster in that you're on so many different podcasts. When I went to do homework for the show, I put your name into YouTube and just hundreds and hundreds of of interviews. Aren't you glad you didn't wear that outfit today? Yeah. Yes. You mentioned right before the show that you gave a wildly popular speech yesterday and you talked about should. Yes. Okay. Stop shoulding on yourself. Yes. It is exactly what you think it is because when we say I should have done this I should have done that we should and we all do it to each other too you should have done this and it comes up even though I know this it still comes up but shoulding doesn't give your brain anything to change because we tend to be talking about the past and we don't take the next step we just say these things and so it raises your cortisol, lowers your positive chemicals, makes you feel how you know that you're not doing the right thing is you don't feel good. So it's shutting down your cerebral cortex and the next day you don't have a plan for what to do differently. I recently realized I was doing that to myself. I think it's very easy for high achieving people, maybe women especially, and entrepreneurs to do that, like we're never enough. And I realized it because I wasn't feeling good at the end of every day. So I actually took the time to start journaling at the end of the day everything I'd done well because from that place now I've already changed the chemicals. I brought up the dopamine, checked, did this, I did this. Now, sometimes that eliminated the should because you're like, oh, yeah. This was more important than the thing I'm telling myself I should have done. And if it didn't eliminate it, now I can say, alright. What do I need to do tomorrow? Or if it's event I wanna do better the next time, what do I need to do next time so that I like the outcome and I'm not, you know. So, then you give your brain the opportunity to open up, be creative and come up with a solution and when we're shooting on ourselves we're not giving ourselves that opportunity. Yeah. I can see why you're so popular and just absolutely brilliant. Again, could listen to you all day long. We have about two minutes left, so why don't you look into the camera on the left, that's the viewer, and give them some final thoughts. So, and truly, each and every one of us is worthy of an incredible extraordinary life. And all we need to be able to accomplish that is one, the decision that we want it, but most importantly, to understand what we're telling ourselves that's holding us back. It's the key to everything you want to create and we're taught in society just like I demonstrated with the teenage girls the opposite of the way our brain works. So I would love for you to hop on to yourbrainresetmethod.com and I mean yourbrainresetblueprint.com and get that free resource because you're worthy of it and you it's four minutes a day the whole problem is so much of what we want to do takes too long Super short. Four minutes a day, a takeaway from every single one that you can use to change your life and create the extraordinary life that you deserve and that everyone around you deserves for you to have. Because when you show up as all of you, you're a gift to everyone around you and they deserve to have that just like you do. What a beautiful way to end this show. We're also gonna leave you with her website, which again is yourbrainresetblueprint.com. The great Doctor. Lucette, thanks for coming on the show. Thank you. You bet. That's it for now. We'll see you next time. That was awesome. Thank you.
