- 0:34Speaker 1: to join us in hour number two. Taylor, put it
- 0:36Speaker 1: on the poll, please. That's to got 790 on X.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Were you rooting for Belichick? Also put this on the poll.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Has Bill Belichick somehow become a lovable underdog?
- 0:53Speaker 4: The answer to both of those is no.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Well, for me, it was a yes. And also put
- 0:57Speaker 3: this on the poll.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Was that the biggest win of Bill Belichick's storied career?
- 1:04Speaker 4: Stu, let me ask you a question.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:07Speaker 4: What will you be doing Saturday, December 5th?
- 1:10Speaker 3: I have no idea. Watching football.
- 1:12Speaker 4: I know what I'll be doing. I'll be in Charlotte
- 1:14Speaker 4: watching my North Carolina Tar Heels in the ACC championship.
- 1:18Speaker 4: I just booked my flight and hotel.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Did you really?
- 1:21Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:21Speaker 1: After a 15-10 victory over TCU, we have no idea
- 1:25Speaker 1: if TCU is any good. I still have no idea
- 1:28Speaker 1: if Carolina is any good. But I did find myself
- 1:30Speaker 1: rooting for Belichick. Mikey, you didn't find yourself rooting for
- 1:33Speaker 1: Bill Belichick? He's been through it the last couple of years.
- 1:37Speaker 6: There is nothing that could happen on this planet to
- 1:40Speaker 6: make me ever root for Bill Belichick in any form.
- 1:43Speaker 4: And I happen to like North Carolina.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Mikey, that's a very dangerous game because I grew up
- 1:48Speaker 4: a Jets fan and I said the same exact thing.
- 1:51Speaker 4: And then Bill Belichick somehow wound up at my alma mater.
- 1:54Speaker 4: And now I'm rooting for Bill Belichick.
- 1:56Speaker 3: You're not though. Yes, I am.
- 1:58Speaker 4: Don't say I'm not rooting for Bill Belichick because I
- 2:00Speaker 4: want this to succeed. It hasn't succeeded. And that's why
- 2:03Speaker 4: I've kind of been at the front line saying that
- 2:05Speaker 4: it hasn't been working.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I don't have to say you're not rooting for Belichick.
- 2:09Speaker 1: You said it plenty headed into the season.
- 2:12Speaker 3: I mean, Mikey, what are we talking about?
- 2:16Speaker 4: I want it to work. Mikey, if Bill Belichick went
- 2:19Speaker 4: to Fordham, if he was the Fordham Rams next head coach,
- 2:21Speaker 4: you're telling me you wouldn't root for Fordham.
- 2:24Speaker 6: He could go be the Fordham Rams head coach, go
- 2:27Speaker 6: take them to the college football playoff. And then in
- 2:29Speaker 6: the off season, take over Brian Cashman's job and Aaron
- 2:33Speaker 6: Boone's job and turn them into the dynasty Yankees.
- 2:37Speaker 3: And I still wouldn't root for Bill Belichick.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I understand what you're doing there. I live with the
- 2:42Speaker 1: same thing. He was the jet coach. He resigned after
- 2:45Speaker 1: a day and then he took the Patriot job and
- 2:47Speaker 1: he won six Super Bowls.
- 2:48Speaker 3: I get it.
- 2:49Speaker 1: It's not a guy you and I should be rooting for.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Yet I found myself rooting for Bill Belichick.
- 2:54Speaker 3: I did.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Just because he's been through. The league has rejected Bill Belichick.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Think about this, Mikey. He won six Super Bowls as
- 3:03Speaker 1: a head coach.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Six. Eight total.
- 3:07Speaker 1: And yet when he was let go by the Patriots,
- 3:10Speaker 1: the NFL said loud and clear, the entire NFL, you're
- 3:15Speaker 1: not good enough to coach here anymore. And so then
- 3:18Speaker 1: he was forced to go to Carolina. Pablo Torre is
- 3:21Speaker 1: chasing him down. I mean, the guy, he left, you know,
- 3:26Speaker 1: a house shirtless one day and there was a video.
- 3:29Speaker 3: I mean, the guy has been through it.
- 3:30Speaker 1: And so yesterday or over the weekend, excuse me, in
- 3:35Speaker 1: a 15 to 10 victory for North Carolina.
- 3:38Speaker 3: And they are clearly. the number one team in the
- 3:40Speaker 3: country right now.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Correct.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I found myself rooting for bill Belichick and I found
- 3:47Speaker 1: myself and my wife is the one who brought it
- 3:49Speaker 1: up to me.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Is he the lovable underdog now? And I was like, yeah,
- 3:54Speaker 3: you know what? He kind of is.
- 3:56Speaker 4: So you mentioned that we don't really know what to
- 3:59Speaker 4: really make of either team this year. And I do
- 4:01Speaker 4: think that's right with a week zero game in Ireland
- 4:04Speaker 4: on a pretty sloppy field. I don't know if we
- 4:07Speaker 4: learned if Carolina is good, but it feels safe that
- 4:10Speaker 4: at the very least, they're not bad, which is bad
- 4:14Speaker 4: news for the haters, which there are many, by the way.
- 4:17Speaker 4: College football pundits couldn't wait to dunk on Bill Belichick
- 4:21Speaker 4: and UNC. And then today, guess what was served up
- 4:26Speaker 4: to them?
- 4:27Speaker 2: What?
- 4:27Speaker 4: Humble pie.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Thank you. Couple servants. Paul Feinbaum. He actually acknowledged it today.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Paul Feinbaum, come back for seconds, buddy.
- 4:35Speaker 1: He said he was wrong, but we have no idea
- 4:37Speaker 1: if he was wrong. He might still be right because
- 4:40Speaker 1: I don't know if Carolina's good. And I don't know
- 4:42Speaker 1: if TCU is good. And if Carolina is not good,
- 4:45Speaker 1: what's that say about TCU? How about that?
- 4:48Speaker 6: I'm fairly certain TCU is not good.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Their season's over. I'm fairly certain. I might not know
- 4:54Speaker 3: about North Carolina.
- 4:55Speaker 2: I'm fairly certain I know about TCU.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Taylor, how'd you feel? Like, honestly, you've been blasting Belichick.
- 5:01Speaker 3: It's fine. You could do that.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Now you're rooting for him, and that's fine. That's what
- 5:04Speaker 1: sports fandom is all about. I mean, there are certain
- 5:07Speaker 1: drives where I want to fire the Jets head coach.
- 5:10Speaker 1: There have been quarters where I want the Jet head
- 5:12Speaker 1: coach to be fired. And the very next quarter, I
- 5:15Speaker 1: want him signed to an extension. That's how sports fandom works.
- 5:19Speaker 1: So how do you feel today? Not about your opinions
- 5:22Speaker 1: on Belichick. Just as a Carolina alum, you walked onto
- 5:25Speaker 1: that football team. You want Carolina to have success. And yes,
- 5:28Speaker 1: you've been critical of Belichick. But you're off to a
- 5:31Speaker 1: 1-0 start. That has to feel good.
- 5:33Speaker 4: It feels good. One, because right now at offensive coordinator,
- 5:36Speaker 4: Bobby Petrino feels like one of the best play callers
- 5:39Speaker 4: in college football, because I don't really think this, I
- 5:41Speaker 4: still don't really think that this North Carolina offense is much,
- 5:45Speaker 4: but Bobby Petrino found ways to scheme North Carolina open
- 5:48Speaker 4: where the, the, the highlight for me on offense was
- 5:51Speaker 4: their tight end. Jelani Thurman four catches, 94 yards, son
- 5:55Speaker 4: of former NFL linebacker, Odell Thurman and WNBA all-star Cara Braxton.
- 6:00Speaker 4: He transfers in from Ohio state. I think they got
- 6:03Speaker 4: a guy.
- 6:04Speaker 3: He looks good. And you love the quarterback.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Oh, Billy Edwards Jr. So going into that game.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Mikey is so mad at you right now. Go ahead.
- 6:14Speaker 4: Going into that game, from people that I talked to
- 6:17Speaker 4: in Chapel Hill, they said... The plan is we are
- 6:20Speaker 4: going to play two quarterbacks. We've got a backup quarterback
- 6:24Speaker 4: that we like in McNeil. He is going to play.
- 6:26Speaker 4: And then I think you saw as that game kind
- 6:28Speaker 4: of unfolded, Billy Edwards Jr. was more than sufficient at
- 6:32Speaker 4: the quarterback position to where Carolina never really had to
- 6:36Speaker 4: take him out and risk disrupting the rhythm that he
- 6:40Speaker 4: was creating.
- 6:41Speaker 3: I love Bobby Petrino. Everyone is just singing his praises.
- 6:44Speaker 4: He's so back.
- 6:45Speaker 1: 15 points against TCU. Three in the second half.
- 6:52Speaker 2: You use the phrase lovable underdog.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Bill Belichick, Bobby Petrino. No.
- 6:58Speaker 6: No, there is nothing lovable about that coaching staff.
- 7:01Speaker 3: And Lombardi. and lombardi yes uh dan bryles to coach
- 7:09Speaker 3: the defense.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Yes uh dan i know it's a strange thing to
- 7:12Speaker 1: say but on a resume that includes six super bowl
- 7:16Speaker 1: victories as a head coach do you think the victory
- 7:18Speaker 1: over the weekend for belichick was the most important of his.
- 7:21Speaker 5: Career well they brought home the crystal like they had
- 7:24Speaker 5: a crystal trophy they brought home hardware i think that
- 7:27Speaker 5: says enough Yes.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Dan, great point. The NBA banner. Yeah.
- 7:32Speaker 4: Dan, great point, because if you presented me two options,
- 7:35Speaker 4: I could win the Super Bowl or the Lombardi Trophy,
- 7:38Speaker 4: or I could win the Aer Lingus College Football Classic
- 7:40Speaker 4: Championship Trophy.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Yes.
- 7:42Speaker 4: I'm taking that trophy every time.
- 7:43Speaker 3: I will tell you this, Dan.
- 7:45Speaker 1: If you ask Belichick before the game, hey, the Aer
- 7:48Speaker 1: Lingus Trophy, you can have it. You're going to win
- 7:50Speaker 1: this game, but you have to give up one Lombardi Trophy.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Do you think he would have done it?
- 7:54Speaker 3: Absolutely. Absolutely. Mix it up a little bit.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Pick one.
- 7:59Speaker 5: When I was a kid, I wrestled. I always wanted
- 8:00Speaker 5: a bronze because it was different. It was just different than,
- 8:03Speaker 5: you know, there's gold, silver, whatever. But the bronze was
- 8:06Speaker 5: a tough one to get.
- 8:08Speaker 3: But you understand what I'm saying?
- 8:09Speaker 1: When people start to question whether or not you're good
- 8:11Speaker 1: at this, this thing you have done your entire life,
- 8:14Speaker 1: and they start to question it. You've won six Super
- 8:17Speaker 1: Bowls and the NFL is rejecting you. OK, Belichick needed validation.
- 8:23Speaker 1: He needed to remind people, hey. I could still do this.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I could still do this as a head coach. I'm
- 8:28Speaker 1: doing it in college. I'm doing it at North Carolina.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I'm doing it in Dublin, Ireland.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Okay? Belichick needed that. He did. Carolina needed it. Belichick
- 8:38Speaker 3: needed it more. Fair?
- 8:40Speaker 5: Absolutely. And I think he would trade in the Rams
- 8:43Speaker 5: Super Bowl 53 win. Maybe not the 28-3 Falcons and
- 8:48Speaker 5: maybe not Super Bowl 36 or against my Seahawks, but
- 8:51Speaker 5: the one against the Rams in Atlanta, Super Bowl 53 win.
- 8:54Speaker 5: definitely trade that one in for the Aer Lingus.
- 8:58Speaker 3: We were all confused last week that Taylor was offered
- 9:01Speaker 3: a free trip to Dublin, and he turned it down
- 9:04Speaker 3: as a North Carolina alum, as someone who walked onto
- 9:06Speaker 3: that football team, was part of that program. He turned
- 9:09Speaker 3: it down. He didn't go to the game.
- 9:12Speaker 1: That did not prevent him from putting together a song
- 9:16Speaker 1: that he would have sang had he attended the game
- 9:18Speaker 1: in a pub right after that victory.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Play it.
- 9:24Speaker 4: Oh, Bill sawed off for W with his hoodie and
- 9:27Speaker 4: his frown. He brought the heels from Chapel Hill to
- 9:30Speaker 4: shake that Irish town. The horned frogs came to meet him,
- 9:33Speaker 4: all dressed in purple hue. But Bill had come for
- 9:36Speaker 4: one thing, to show what the heels could do. They
- 9:39Speaker 4: said the man was getting old, they said his time
- 9:41Speaker 4: was through. Then Bill went off to Ireland and beat
- 9:44Speaker 4: the hell out of TCU. They called the team a laughingstock,
- 9:48Speaker 4: nobody gave a chance. They took the fight right to
- 9:51Speaker 4: the frogs and did an Irish dance. They counted out Bibela,
- 9:55Speaker 4: check and said he would go in lists. Well, you
- 9:57Speaker 4: could kiss my Tar Heel ass while I go drink.
- 10:00Speaker 3: A Guinness.
- 10:01Speaker 4: A quarterback from Maryland, he's over six feet tall. He
- 10:04Speaker 4: saved the heels in Ireland. His name is Billy Football.
- 10:08Speaker 4: They said his coach was finished. His legacy was done.
- 10:11Speaker 4: He left Lombardi in the States and then he finally won.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Petrino called the offense. Oh, Bill controlled the D. The
- 10:19Speaker 4: Fries came in as favorites, but that meant to me.
- 10:22Speaker 4: They crossed the sea as underdogs with everybody short. That
- 10:26Speaker 4: TCU would roll the heels while 1510 says more. The
- 10:30Speaker 4: time for laughing's over. Coach Bill has got his team.
- 10:33Speaker 4: When Carolina comes to town, they're going to cause a scene.
- 10:37Speaker 4: I hope you had your fun. I mean it sincerely.
- 10:40Speaker 4: You woke the sleeping giant. Next stop, the CFP.
- 10:49Speaker 3: It was so good right till the end. I've heard
- 10:53Speaker 3: that song four times now. And every time I know.
- 10:56Speaker 4: The CFP is coming, it makes me cringe anyway.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Yeah, but the first couple of minutes.
- 11:00Speaker 2: It's an amazing song.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 11:01Speaker 3: One of my favorites. Yeah, it really gets you moving.
- 11:04Speaker 4: I started scouting who we might be playing that first
- 11:06Speaker 4: round of the playoffs. I'm thinking Notre Dame.
- 11:08Speaker 3: You wanted to fire Belichick.
- 11:11Speaker 1: By the way, you'll laugh at this. McAfee is on.
- 11:13Speaker 1: I think he's on. Something on ESPN is going on.
- 11:16Speaker 1: And who was being wired up to go on the show?
- 11:19Speaker 1: Bobby Petrino.
- 11:21Speaker 4: He's so back. Never been more back. 15 points.
- 11:24Speaker 3: 15.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Whatever you want to talk about Wednesday, 877-99 on Fox.
- 11:41Speaker 1: That is 877-99 on Fox. We'll get to Taylor's mistake
- 11:44Speaker 1: in just a second. The new Seahawks owner had a
- 11:48Speaker 1: rough opening press conference. We'll get to that sound in
- 11:51Speaker 1: just a second as well.
- 11:52Speaker 3: But Isaac, if you can hear me, Ike. If you
- 11:57Speaker 3: wouldn't mind coming back to the microphone. Oh, yes, sir.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Of course.
- 12:01Speaker 3: Yes. Can you just read.
- 12:02Speaker 1: The Lane Kiffin story you just gave us in the update?
- 12:05Speaker 1: Just read it the way you read it during the update.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Taylor has some thoughts on it.
- 12:08Speaker 7: Oh, I would be delighted to.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Hang on.
- 12:10Speaker 7: Let me get into character.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Authoritative. Walter Cronkite. Peter Jennings.
- 12:15Speaker 4: Walter Cronkite. Peter Jennings.
- 12:17Speaker 7: Vanity Fair today published an excerpt of a new book
- 12:20Speaker 7: about LSU head coach Lane Kiffin. The excerpt covered his
- 12:24Speaker 7: time as Alabama's offensive coordinator, in which then head coach
- 12:28Speaker 7: Nick Saban told a staff member regarding Kiffin, quote, keep
- 12:31Speaker 7: him away from the sorority girls. Make sure they've graduated
- 12:35Speaker 7: college or are working a job, unquote. An associate of
- 12:39Speaker 7: Kiffin's also said a local bar owner called him and said, quote,
- 12:43Speaker 7: your boy Lane's back in here asking where the hotties are, unquote.
- 12:50Speaker 4: Taylor, what are we doing with Lane Kiffin where we're
- 12:53Speaker 4: reporting every possible detail in this man's life?
- 12:56Speaker 3: Right.
- 12:56Speaker 4: Sue him. He asked where the hotties are at.
- 12:59Speaker 1: We're not liking him and we're making money off of him.
- 13:02Speaker 1: That's what people are doing with Lane Kiffin.
- 13:04Speaker 4: Listen, I know people are going to call me a
- 13:06Speaker 4: lane defender. And yes, I am a lane defender. I'm
- 13:09Speaker 4: a I'm a go Tigers through and through. I want
- 13:12Speaker 4: Lane Kiffin to succeed at LSU because I know what
- 13:15Speaker 4: it means for college football. Sue the man if he's
- 13:18Speaker 4: going around asking where the hotties are.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Or divorce him.
- 13:22Speaker 4: Well, that's a whole different story.
- 13:25Speaker 3: I do not condone that. That's where you draw the line?
- 13:29Speaker 4: Yes.
- 13:32Speaker 3: It's ridiculous. What are we doing with Lane Kiffin? Lane
- 13:35Speaker 3: Kiffin is doing it to himself.
- 13:37Speaker 1: He has made himself, I mean, he's taken one of
- 13:39Speaker 1: the biggest jobs in America. He left the playoff team
- 13:42Speaker 1: to take over a head coaching position at LSU. And
- 13:46Speaker 1: he has put an end, through his actions and his words,
- 13:49Speaker 1: has put himself in the spotlight. That's where he wants
- 13:51Speaker 1: to be. And when you put yourself in the spotlight,
- 13:54Speaker 1: people start reporting stuff.
- 13:56Speaker 4: Listen, but we know Lane Kiffin is a menace. Of course.
- 14:00Speaker 4: And at LSU, I hate to say this, but at LSU,
- 14:06Speaker 4: it's almost expected from your football coaches. Brian Kelly was
- 14:09Speaker 4: the one who kind of broke the mold of not
- 14:11Speaker 4: being a menace.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Put it on the poll, Taylor. Would you want Lane
- 14:14Speaker 1: Kiffin to be your head coach? Yes or no?
- 14:19Speaker 4: Because, man, you're going to win some games.
- 14:21Speaker 3: You're going to win some games. You're going to have
- 14:22Speaker 3: reports like the one we just heard. What are my expectations?
- 14:25Speaker 1: The expectations are high because Lane makes them high. I mean,
- 14:28Speaker 1: they're high expectations, of course.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Would you want them? Yeah, but it depends.
- 14:34Speaker 6: Like, if I'm at Alabama where the expectation is is
- 14:37Speaker 6: to win the national title every year, then no, I
- 14:40Speaker 6: probably don't want him, because Lane's never done that.
- 14:43Speaker 3: But if my expectations are, hey.
- 14:44Speaker 6: Make the playoff, win some games, be interesting, hell yeah,
- 14:48Speaker 6: I want Lane Kiffin.
- 14:49Speaker 4: I think the thing that comes with Lane Kiffin is
- 14:51Speaker 4: when he becomes your head coach, you do kind of
- 14:54Speaker 4: turn a blind eye, because we have T-Bob Hebert on,
- 14:59Speaker 4: and T-Bob has kind of said before, he's going to
- 15:01Speaker 4: defend Lane Kiffin until he's not his head coach anymore,
- 15:04Speaker 4: and history has shown you Lane Kiffin is going to
- 15:07Speaker 4: leave LSU, and when he does, he's going to leave
- 15:10Speaker 4: a trail of fire behind him.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Mikey, you made a face there when he tried to
- 15:15Speaker 1: pronounce T-Bob. It's an easy word to pronounce.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. But Taylor's finding out that he's talking too
- 15:20Speaker 3: much in too many places. I'm in my own head.
- 15:22Speaker 4: I got the yips. This is like this is like
- 15:24Speaker 4: when George Lombard from the Yankee shortstop had six errors
- 15:28Speaker 4: in six consecutive games. And they're like, nobody's had six
- 15:31Speaker 4: errors in six consecutive games for a Yankee shortstop since
- 15:34Speaker 4: Roger Peckinpah. That's me right now. I got the yips.
- 15:38Speaker 3: And we'll get to why he has the yips in
- 15:39Speaker 3: a second. But you're right. It's a baseball hitter.
- 15:42Speaker 1: And he's in a slump and he finally gets that
- 15:44Speaker 1: meatball and he still misses it because T-Bob is that meatball.
- 15:48Speaker 3: I mean, it's T-Bob.
- 15:50Speaker 4: Roger Peckinpah is such a great baseball name.
- 15:54Speaker 3: From the early.
- 15:54Speaker 2: You call him T-Bag?
- 15:56Speaker 4: From the early 1910s.
- 15:59Speaker 3: What's the name?
- 16:00Speaker 4: Roger Peckinpah.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Put it on the poll. Is that a great baseball name?
- 16:04Speaker 1: I don't want to try to pronounce it. This is
- 16:06Speaker 1: why Taylor has the yips. This happened yesterday towards the
- 16:08Speaker 1: end of the show.
- 16:09Speaker 4: To get the all boat.
- 16:14Speaker 3: It still hurts.
- 16:15Speaker 4: That's me trying to say the old ball coach. To
- 16:20Speaker 4: get the all boat. Thank you.
- 16:24Speaker 3: You're reeling. You're in a slump.
- 16:26Speaker 6: You got a little porky pig there in the middle.
- 16:31Speaker 3: How many people did you hear from once they heard that?
- 16:34Speaker 1: Because I find that more people comment on my mistakes
- 16:37Speaker 1: than they do on anything I have to say where
- 16:39Speaker 1: I don't make a mistake.
- 16:40Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just a lot of people just checking in,
- 16:43Speaker 4: trying to get a state of the union from me,
- 16:46Speaker 4: just saying, hey, is everything okay? And I'm like, yeah,
- 16:49Speaker 4: I'm just fighting through this right now. Got to get
- 16:51Speaker 4: to the other side of this slump.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I am told here, Mikey, let's see if it's as
- 16:55Speaker 1: bad as we thought it was. This is very quick work.
- 16:58Speaker 1: They turned it around quickly. This is Taylor trying to
- 17:00Speaker 1: say T-Bob.
- 17:01Speaker 4: Because we have T-Bob A-Bear on.
- 17:08Speaker 3: T-Bear. T-Bag A-Bear.
- 17:10Speaker 4: I think I said T-Bear, yeah.
- 17:12Speaker 3: I think you were headed towards bag. Let's hear it
- 17:16Speaker 3: one more time.
- 17:17Speaker 4: Because we have T-Bob A-Bear on.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Yes.
- 17:23Speaker 4: I'm just not seeing the ball well right now.
- 17:24Speaker 3: It's okay, Taylor. You'll see.
- 17:27Speaker 4: Like Lombard, I come up as this great, exciting prospect.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Right.
- 17:31Speaker 4: And then you put me out there and you're saying,
- 17:33Speaker 4: the one thing we don't have to worry about, George
- 17:35Speaker 4: Lombard Jr., is his defense. And then all of a sudden,
- 17:38Speaker 4: I become a liability to the show.
- 17:40Speaker 3: Yeah. Shake it off, kid.
- 17:42Speaker 4: Yeah. I'm Chuck Knobloch.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Growing pains.
- 17:45Speaker 8: Right.
- 17:46Speaker 1: But you're one good joke away from being back. That's
- 17:50Speaker 1: the beauty of talking. So the Seattle Seahawks owner, the
- 17:56Speaker 1: new owner, what's his name? Do we know the name
- 17:58Speaker 1: of this owner for the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks
- 18:03Speaker 1: that no one is taking seriously, mostly me, by saying
- 18:06Speaker 1: they're not going to make it to the playoffs this year?
- 18:09Speaker 1: I don't know his name, but we do have sound.
- 18:12Speaker 1: This is the new Seahawks owner. This is not the
- 18:14Speaker 1: way you want to start your ownership of a brand
- 18:17Speaker 1: new NFL team. Here's what he had to say during
- 18:20Speaker 1: his opening press conference.
- 18:22Speaker 8: Also, I happened to come to this country in 76
- 18:24Speaker 8: when the Steelers were winning the Super Bowl. So actually,
- 18:27Speaker 8: I was originally and still am a big Steelers fan. Also,
- 18:33Speaker 8: little known fact, but I still watch all the Steelers games, too.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Keep that fact to yourself.
- 18:41Speaker 4: His name is V-Node. Again, when you're in a slump,
- 18:46Speaker 4: this is not the name you want when you're in
- 18:48Speaker 4: a slump.
- 18:49Speaker 6: You don't want to see Pedro, Randy Johnson out there
- 18:53Speaker 6: when you're in a slump.
- 18:54Speaker 3: I get it. Go ahead.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Yeah, but try to thunder through it and see if
- 18:57Speaker 1: you get your confidence back.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Let's go.
- 19:00Speaker 4: V-Node, Kosla. No, that can't be right.
- 19:04Speaker 3: I mean, it's not... Wow. Wow. It's not like any
- 19:07Speaker 3: of us would know.
- 19:08Speaker 4: I mean.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Who rang the bell? Mikey, how would you feel about
- 19:17Speaker 3: the Jets.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Owner if we had a new owner? And Lord knows,
- 19:20Speaker 1: I wish we did. But if he stepped up to
- 19:23Speaker 1: the podium.
- 19:24Speaker 3: Stop. I already like him.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Stop.
- 19:27Speaker 3: He's new. I already like him. Yeah, but if he
- 19:29Speaker 3: acknowledges he's a fan of another team that he doesn't own.
- 19:33Speaker 3: You're not Woody Johnson.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Welcome.
- 19:35Speaker 3: Welcome to the family. And I wouldn't blame Steelers.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Yes.
- 19:38Speaker 3: Yes.
- 19:38Speaker 1: But when you're the Seattle owner and you're coming off
- 19:40Speaker 1: a Super Bowl victory, you can come to the podium
- 19:44Speaker 1: and say little known fact. And why would we know it?
- 19:47Speaker 1: Little known fact. I'm a Steelers fan.
- 19:49Speaker 4: You could see. the other people in this press conference
- 19:52Speaker 4: when he says it the people behind him are like
- 19:54Speaker 4: wincing like oh no i can't believe he just said
- 19:56Speaker 4: that there's like one thing you can't say as an
- 20:00Speaker 4: owner right it's i root for another team because now
- 20:02Speaker 4: people are thinking steelers seahawks super bowl.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Yes who's he rooting for Secretly, who's he rooting for? Publicly,
- 20:11Speaker 3: we know he's rooting for.
- 20:12Speaker 4: How about any trade made between the Steelers and the Seahawks?
- 20:15Speaker 2: Right.
- 20:16Speaker 1: You start to wonder. That's why you got to keep
- 20:18Speaker 1: these things quiet. Who does he root for? Publicly, he'll
- 20:21Speaker 1: say Seattle. He's the owner of the Seahawks. But privately,
- 20:24Speaker 1: when he's alone with the family, they're all Steeler fans.
- 20:27Speaker 1: They have the terrible towels. They've been going to games forever.
- 20:30Speaker 1: They love Mean Joe Green. They love Jack Hamm. They
- 20:32Speaker 1: love Terry Bradshaw. They love the Steelers.
- 20:34Speaker 3: Louie Lips.
- 20:35Speaker 1: I'm just going to rattle off Steeler names for the
- 20:37Speaker 1: rest of time. But secretly, they're all saying, let's go Steelers, right?
- 20:44Speaker 1: If you're a Steeler fan, you're a Steeler fan.
- 20:46Speaker 3: I mean.
- 20:48Speaker 3: Is that fair?
- 20:49Speaker 4: I think he's 1,000% rooting for the Steelers because when
- 20:53Speaker 4: he's talking about his Steelers fandom, you could hear the
- 20:56Speaker 4: joy coming through. And that joy that you hear him
- 21:00Speaker 4: talking about his Steelers fandom, that doesn't really go away.
- 21:03Speaker 4: I know when you buy a team, you become part
- 21:07Speaker 4: of that team, but your fandom doesn't really just go away. No.
- 21:12Speaker 7: No.
- 21:12Speaker 6: Seattle will forever be business to him while Steelers are
- 21:15Speaker 6: his heart.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Pleasure.
- 21:16Speaker 6: He's going to forever be like, hey, listen, I hope
- 21:19Speaker 6: Seattle does well because I want to make money.
- 21:21Speaker 3: This is my business.
- 21:22Speaker 5: Yes.
- 21:22Speaker 4: But I'm a Steelers fan.
- 21:24Speaker 3: That's a bad look. But it seems to me like
- 21:27Speaker 3: he wishes he was the Steelers owner and not the
- 21:29Speaker 3: Seahawks owner. Just couldn't get the right price for Pittsburgh.
- 21:32Speaker 4: The family wouldn't sell.
- 21:35Speaker 6: Darn Roonies.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Yes.
- 21:36Speaker 3: I want to hear the sound again. Listen to him
- 21:38Speaker 3: laugh at himself, and he's the only one laughing.
- 21:40Speaker 8: Also happened to come to this country in 76 when
- 21:43Speaker 8: the Steelers were winning the Super Bowl. So actually, I
- 21:45Speaker 8: was originally and still am a big Steelers fan. Also,
- 21:51Speaker 8: little known fact, but I still watch all.
- 21:53Speaker 3: The Steelers games, too.
- 21:56Speaker 4: This sound also just goes to show you how disconnected
- 22:00Speaker 4: billionaires are from the casual sports fans.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Yes.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Casual sports fans would never even... This thought would never
- 22:08Speaker 4: even cross their mind. Like, if I gave you $ 3 billion, Stu,
- 22:12Speaker 4: to buy a team and you went out and bought
- 22:14Speaker 4: a team, like, let's say in baseball you bought the
- 22:16Speaker 4: Tampa Bay Rays. At your press conference, you know for
- 22:20Speaker 4: certain you would not say, hey, I grew up a
- 22:23Speaker 4: Mets fan. I'm still rooting for the Mets.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Right, you can't say it. You just can't, right.
- 22:27Speaker 4: But when you're so, like, disconnected from reality with all
- 22:31Speaker 4: these people and their billions of dollars... You don't even
- 22:34Speaker 4: think about trying to relate to the common man.
- 22:36Speaker 6: No, I'm not even okay with him saying, Hey, when
- 22:39Speaker 6: I came to this country, I rooted for the Steelers,
- 22:42Speaker 6: but now my soul phone, you know, like you have to,
- 22:45Speaker 6: you have to draw a line where there was the
- 22:47Speaker 6: previous me who liked the Steelers and the new me
- 22:51Speaker 6: who likes the Seahawks.
- 22:52Speaker 8: Right.
- 22:53Speaker 1: So we're asking them not to be honest. And that's
- 22:55Speaker 1: part of what being an owner is all about, is
- 22:57Speaker 1: to lie.
- 22:59Speaker 3: Right?
- 23:00Speaker 4: Take a page out of Lane Kiffin's book.
- 23:02Speaker 3: What are you doing to Lane Kiffin?
- 23:04Speaker 4: I love Lane Kiffin.
- 23:07Speaker 1: 877-99 on Fox. I don't know why I'm giving out
- 23:10Speaker 1: the phone number. Dominique Foxworth.
- 23:13Speaker 3: Now I got it. I have the yips right now.
- 23:15Speaker 3: He feels better. It's either leaving. No, it's either. He
- 23:18Speaker 3: makes a good joke.
- 23:21Speaker 1: He gets out of his slump or someone else does
- 23:24Speaker 1: something worse.
- 23:25Speaker 3: And I just did it. And now he feels better
- 23:27Speaker 3: about himself. Damn.
- 23:29Speaker 4: I do feel better about myself. This just goes to
- 23:32Speaker 4: show the apple does not fall far from the tree.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Dominique Foxworth.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson Company
- 23:41Speaker 2: live weekdays at 3 p.m. Eastern, 12 p.m. Pacific.
- 23:47Speaker 1: We are thrilled to have a distracted Adnan Virk with
- 23:51Speaker 1: us today because he's watching a Taylor Fritz match. John
- 23:57Speaker 1: Fanta is going to join us in hour number two.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Looking forward to that. The last time we spoke to Adnan. Now, Adnan,
- 24:03Speaker 1: I promised them that you and I would not spend
- 24:06Speaker 1: an hour and change here talking tennis.
- 24:08Speaker 3: I want to. I could.
- 24:10Speaker 1: I could have a 60-minute rally with you back and forth,
- 24:13Speaker 1: but I promised the guys here I would not do
- 24:15Speaker 1: 60 minutes on tennis because the last time we spoke
- 24:18Speaker 1: to you, you were headed to Rhode Island for the
- 24:20Speaker 1: Roger Federer Hall of Fame induction, and you're wearing your
- 24:24Speaker 1: Fed hat today.
- 24:26Speaker 3: So I promised them I don't know what to do.
- 24:27Speaker 1: You and I want to talk tennis for an hour,
- 24:29Speaker 1: and I have promised them that we won't do that today.
- 24:33Speaker 9: It's that constant balance, Stu. Our old boss, the great
- 24:35Speaker 9: Scott Shapiro at Eastern would tell me, you got to
- 24:37Speaker 9: play the hitch. You know, every hour, talk LeBron, talk NFL.
- 24:41Speaker 9: What I want to talk about, like, I just want
- 24:43Speaker 9: to talk about Roger Federer. And as you had said
- 24:45Speaker 9: to me, as you predicted to me, if you meet Federer,
- 24:48Speaker 9: that 20 seconds is going to end up being 20
- 24:51Speaker 9: minutes of content.
- 24:53Speaker 3: It's one of those situations where people have said to me,
- 24:55Speaker 3: so what was it like? And I go, listen, you're
- 24:56Speaker 3: going to get one of two versions, either the full
- 24:58Speaker 3: version or no version. I can't tell it to you
- 25:01Speaker 3: in 30 seconds. Oh, is this?
- 25:03Speaker 9: No, I'm going to tell you every damn detail of
- 25:05Speaker 9: meeting Roger Federer, my lifelong hero and favorite athlete and
- 25:08Speaker 9: favorite person. Aside from my wife and kids. So I
- 25:11Speaker 9: hope at some point we can dive in. Like I said,
- 25:13Speaker 9: how many of the people could just say they're locked
- 25:14Speaker 9: into Taylor Fritz right now?
- 25:15Speaker 3: But you're absolutely right. Six level. You love second set.
- 25:19Speaker 3: It's going to be an interesting balance today.
- 25:22Speaker 9: Clippers Rams, what the audience deserves and what you and
- 25:25Speaker 9: I deserve, which is some hardcore tennis talk.
- 25:27Speaker 3: Right.
- 25:27Speaker 1: But if you hear gaps, just it's us watching Taylor Fritz.
- 25:30Speaker 1: It's Fritz's fault.
- 25:31Speaker 3: What do you got Taylor?
- 25:32Speaker 4: So I'm going to extend an olive branch since Adnan's
- 25:34Speaker 4: here today. Let's get some tennis talk in right now.
- 25:39Speaker 3: Really? Yeah.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Why?
- 25:42Speaker 4: I want to hear some tennis talk.
- 25:43Speaker 1: I know, but Scott Shapiro told us to play the hits,
- 25:45Speaker 1: and I promised Scott Shapiro we would do an hour
- 25:46Speaker 1: on tennis.
- 25:47Speaker 4: I'm going to be the judge of how long that
- 25:49Speaker 4: tennis talk goes, but I want to hear some tennis talk.
- 25:51Speaker 3: How about this, Taylor? How about this?
- 25:53Speaker 9: Do you want, because the Federer story, I'm not kidding,
- 25:55Speaker 9: that's going to be 15 minutes.
- 25:56Speaker 3: I'm assuming we're saving that for a cheat block.
- 25:59Speaker 9: When you say tennis talk, do you want me to
- 26:01Speaker 9: start the Federer conversation or do non-Federer related time?
- 26:04Speaker 1: No, here, I'll start the tennis talk and then Taylor
- 26:07Speaker 1: will do whatever it is he's planning on doing here,
- 26:09Speaker 1: but Let's start the tennis talk here. Were you thrilled
- 26:12Speaker 1: as Novak Djokovic, as a lover of Roger Federer.
- 26:16Speaker 3: As Djokovic... Why are there snores? As Djokovic was.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Throwing up all over the court and losing to a
- 26:23Speaker 1: guy who qualified to get into the Open, the snoring's
- 26:27Speaker 1: annoying me, was Adnan happy because he doesn't want Djokovic
- 26:31Speaker 1: to tack on any more majors here?
- 26:33Speaker 3: Was I happy? The ultimate rhetorical question. I was delirious
- 26:36Speaker 3: with joy. And the only thing that would have.
- 26:39Speaker 9: Made me happiest to God is if I actually stepped
- 26:40Speaker 9: to watch the entire match. When Novak won the third set,
- 26:44Speaker 9: I say he's up 2-1.
- 26:45Speaker 3: It's 11 o'clock here on the East Coast. I'm going
- 26:47Speaker 3: to go ahead and go to bed. That was met
- 26:49Speaker 3: with the gleeful joy.
- 26:50Speaker 9: I felt like a child when I woke up at
- 26:52Speaker 9: 4.50 to go to the bathroom.
- 26:53Speaker 3: I said, what? He lost in five seconds. I'm like, yeah, yeah.
- 26:57Speaker 3: This is so great. This is going to be a
- 26:59Speaker 3: great day. What a perfect Capra to a weekend. I
- 27:02Speaker 3: get to meet... Roger Federer, hashtag Team Fed.
- 27:05Speaker 9: And then Novak loses on a Sunday night, arguably the
- 27:08Speaker 9: best 48 hours I've experienced in a long time.
- 27:11Speaker 3: And people say, don't you have sympathy?
- 27:12Speaker 9: Of course I don't. He's up there puking away. If
- 27:15Speaker 9: you can't play, then don't play.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Just bow out. If you think you can play, then
- 27:18Speaker 3: credit to you. Battle it out. But you lost, and
- 27:21Speaker 3: you lost badly. Stewie lost 6-2, 6-1 before the final set.
- 27:25Speaker 3: So what I say was illness.
- 27:27Speaker 9: But, I mean, the shot of him puking in slow motion,
- 27:29Speaker 9: I could have done without that.
- 27:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:31Speaker 9: But macro on the best line afterwards, you know, this
- 27:34Speaker 9: guy's enjoying his big moment.
- 27:35Speaker 3: And he says, see you on court 21 for your
- 27:37Speaker 3: next match.
- 27:38Speaker 9: Just completely douses the guy's dreamlike moment as he beats Djokovic.
- 27:42Speaker 9: But for me, as you said, I do not want
- 27:44Speaker 9: to see that majors record extended by Djokovic. I want
- 27:46Speaker 9: him to lose, and I want him to lose badly.
- 27:49Speaker 9: I think an interesting guy in this U.S. Open is
- 27:51Speaker 9: Ben Shelton. He won in four sets.
- 27:52Speaker 3: And time! What? Oh, come on, we're going to do Shelton.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Come on, let us do Shelton. No, we can't. He's right. Time.
- 27:58Speaker 1: He called it. And Scott Shapiro did train us to
- 28:01Speaker 1: play the hits. So let's play the hits. It's a
- 28:03Speaker 1: Think About It Thursday.
- 28:04Speaker 3: Give me the imaging.
- 28:08Speaker 2: You know that segment, Talk About It Tuesday, on Hockman, Crowder,
- 28:11Speaker 2: and Solero? This is like that, but bigger and better.
- 28:17Speaker 2: And 48 hours later, this is Think About It Thursday.
- 28:23Speaker 3: It's a staple every Thursday. We're playing the hits.
- 28:25Speaker 1: It's Taylor's attempt to counter-program a local show down here
- 28:28Speaker 1: in Miami.
- 28:29Speaker 3: Weird. We're a national show on Fox, but.
- 28:33Speaker 1: It is a Think About It Thursday, 877-99 on Fox,
- 28:38Speaker 1: if you would like to think with me and Adnet.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Go ahead, Taylor.
- 28:41Speaker 4: So I saw a video on Snapback Sports on social media.
- 28:45Speaker 4: A Cowboys fan was born in 2004. And he says
- 28:49Speaker 4: Emmitt Smith is his favorite cowboy ever, even though Emmitt
- 28:53Speaker 4: Smith's last game in Dallas was in 2002. So that's
- 28:57Speaker 4: what I want to ask you guys. Can your favorite
- 28:59Speaker 4: player be someone who played before you were even born?
- 29:02Speaker 1: A lot of Jet fans will tell you that Joe
- 29:04Speaker 1: Namath is their favorite Jet player, whether they were born
- 29:07Speaker 1: or not when he won the Super Bowl.
- 29:08Speaker 3: I don't. He's not my favorite player. I think he's overrated.
- 29:12Speaker 1: But Jet fans, some Jet fans who were not alive
- 29:14Speaker 1: in 1969, 70s, they will tell you that Namath is
- 29:19Speaker 1: their favorite jet of all time.
- 29:20Speaker 3: It's ludicrous. It's absolutely ludicrous, Stu. And I liked your
- 29:24Speaker 3: point on Namath, by the way.
- 29:25Speaker 9: Years ago, Sports Illustrated had this great magazine which they
- 29:28Speaker 9: said overrated, underrated, and went through all the major figures.
- 29:32Speaker 9: Most overrated quarterback was Joe Namath. You look at his numbers,
- 29:34Speaker 9: the guy was a 500 quarterback. He just won the
- 29:37Speaker 9: unbelievable game. But you look at his numbers, there's no
- 29:39Speaker 9: way he should be mentioned with Brady, Aikman, Bradshaw, you
- 29:43Speaker 9: name it.
- 29:44Speaker 3: This doesn't make any sense, Taylor.
- 29:46Speaker 4: Why on earth.
- 29:47Speaker 3: Give me any team. I mean, this is beyond absurdity.
- 29:49Speaker 9: That's like a Blue Jays fan born in 2000 saying,
- 29:52Speaker 9: Joe Carter's his favorite Blue Jays. Like, what are you
- 29:54Speaker 9: talking about? Just because you've seen the image of him
- 29:56Speaker 9: jumping around winning the World Series?
- 29:57Speaker 3: Like, no. If Emmitt Smith's your favorite player, the earliest
- 29:59Speaker 3: you could have.
- 30:00Speaker 9: Been born is 1990. Maybe at five years of age,
- 30:02Speaker 9: you remember Emmitt Smith doing that. Like, that's like being
- 30:05Speaker 9: a Steelers fan born in 1987.
- 30:07Speaker 3: Who's your favorite player? Paul Amalo? Roethlisberger? No, Jerry Bradshaw.
- 30:10Speaker 7: What?
- 30:10Speaker 3: I love Frank Harris.
- 30:11Speaker 1: That's stupidity. It depends on the team, though. It really does, right?
- 30:17Speaker 1: And that's why you're right.
- 30:18Speaker 9: With the Jets, it makes a little sense because, unfortunately,
- 30:20Speaker 9: your guys have been such futility. The one moment you go, well,
- 30:23Speaker 9: I have to clink that. What other Jet do I have?
- 30:26Speaker 9: I can't pick Nick Folk.
- 30:27Speaker 3: What are we doing?
- 30:28Speaker 2: Right.
- 30:28Speaker 1: But if you weren't alive for the Cowboys run with Emmitt,
- 30:31Speaker 1: Michael Irvin, Troy Aikman, you were born after that run.
- 30:34Speaker 1: and the Cowboys have been dreadful ever since. Maybe, and
- 30:37Speaker 1: you care about the Cowboys that much. It's like, it's
- 30:39Speaker 1: in your family. You're a Cowboy fan at birth. Maybe
- 30:41Speaker 1: Emmitt Smith is your favorite Cowboy of all time because
- 30:43Speaker 1: you have no choice, you know?
- 30:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess it's true. If you just have a
- 30:47Speaker 3: complete lack of success, it wouldn't make sense.
- 30:49Speaker 9: It'd be like an Angels fan born in 04, and
- 30:51Speaker 9: all of a sudden, like, Darren Erstad, your favorite Angel.
- 30:53Speaker 3: Like, what about Mike Trout? Like, Mike Trout's never won anything.
- 30:56Speaker 9: I gotta go back to the Rally Monkey until they
- 30:57Speaker 9: won a World Series in 02.
- 30:59Speaker 3: I'm riding with Jared Weaver.
- 31:00Speaker 9: I'm like, okay, I guess that's how we're gonna do it.
- 31:03Speaker 4: I'm trying to put myself in these shoes and I'm
- 31:05Speaker 4: thinking right now, if today I had a son and
- 31:09Speaker 4: he grows up to be a Yankee fan and he's like, man,
- 31:12Speaker 4: all my dad does is wax poetically about Derek Jeter
- 31:16Speaker 4: or watching the yes network 24 seven and watching classics.
- 31:19Speaker 4: The Yankees still haven't won a world series though. Their
- 31:22Speaker 4: last world series of 2009 Aaron judge has let me down.
- 31:25Speaker 4: Aaron judge junior has let me down too. I could
- 31:28Speaker 4: see that kid being a Darjeeter is his favorite player fan.
- 31:32Speaker 4: And if that was my son, I would be damn
- 31:35Speaker 4: proud of him.
- 31:37Speaker 9: There's a big difference between saying I'm a big fan
- 31:39Speaker 9: and he's my favorite player.
- 31:40Speaker 3: So think about this.
- 31:41Speaker 9: As an Eagles fan, I was born in 78. So
- 31:43Speaker 9: Cunningham's my favorite player, right? That makes sense. That's the
- 31:46Speaker 9: era which I grew up in. I love McNabb and,
- 31:48Speaker 9: of course, Jalen Hurtson. Saquon Barkley. So when I meet
- 31:51Speaker 9: Ron Jaworski at ESPN, I'm like, oh my God, Jaws.
- 31:53Speaker 9: I know he's an all-time great eagle, but I was
- 31:56Speaker 9: two when he was in the Super Bowl. He's my
- 31:59Speaker 9: favorite eagle.
- 32:00Speaker 3: I can say, Jaws, I love you. All-time great eagle.
- 32:03Speaker 3: Favorite player?
- 32:04Speaker 7: No.
- 32:04Speaker 9: So as a Yankee fan, you can say, I love
- 32:06Speaker 9: Derek Jeter, but it's supposed to be somebody more of
- 32:08Speaker 9: your era.
- 32:09Speaker 3: It's a ludicrous argument.
- 32:10Speaker 1: But the Eagles have had success since. That's the big difference, yes.
- 32:14Speaker 4: So I have a perfect example, I think, Stu.
- 32:16Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 32:17Speaker 4: What about Chicago Bulls fans who have been born since
- 32:20Speaker 4: Michael Jordan?
- 32:21Speaker 3: Jordan's their favorite Bull of all time.
- 32:22Speaker 4: You have the greatest player of all time. He's not
- 32:24Speaker 4: your favorite Bull of all time?
- 32:26Speaker 3: He's your favorite Bull of all time, yes.
- 32:27Speaker 1: If you were born after Michael Jordan stopped playing basketball,
- 32:30Speaker 1: he is your favorite Chicago Bull of all time, of course, right?
- 32:33Speaker 9: Yeah, I think that's one where we have to make
- 32:35Speaker 9: an exception because he's so supernatural.
- 32:37Speaker 3: And again, the Bulls have stunk.
- 32:39Speaker 9: That's the key point that Stu is pointing out, which
- 32:40Speaker 9: I think is key, is that that's the nuance. If
- 32:43Speaker 9: your team has still been good while you've been alive,
- 32:44Speaker 9: then you should have other players to rally around. But
- 32:46Speaker 9: if you're the Bulls, it's been a lot of dreck
- 32:49Speaker 9: ever since then. And Jordan's the greatest ever. So, yeah,
- 32:51Speaker 9: you know what? I'll allow an exception. Bulls, no matter
- 32:54Speaker 9: what you are, you can be a Michael.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Jordan if you care.
- 32:58Speaker 1: What if you're a Laker fan that was born after
- 33:00Speaker 1: the Shaq and Kobe run? And your choice is LeBron James,
- 33:03Speaker 1: who won a championship in a bubble.
- 33:05Speaker 3: It doesn't really count. Or it's Kobe. I would go Kobe.
- 33:09Speaker 3: I would.
- 33:09Speaker 1: And I'd be okay with it. Meaning he saw LeBron.
- 33:13Speaker 1: He didn't see Kobe. He or she saw LeBron, didn't
- 33:15Speaker 1: see Kobe. And Kobe is still their favorite Laker.
- 33:18Speaker 4: It's tough because the younger generation is growing up wanting
- 33:21Speaker 4: to be LeBron fans. But the older generation that is
- 33:24Speaker 4: influencing these kids as Laker fans, they don't really respect
- 33:28Speaker 4: LeBron's tenure in L.A.
- 33:30Speaker 9: Yeah, again, that's where the wrinkle becomes. I would argue
- 33:33Speaker 9: you had LeBron in purple and gold. It wasn't like
- 33:36Speaker 9: a cup of coffee. No, he was there. He served
- 33:38Speaker 9: substantial time.
- 33:39Speaker 3: He loves the Lakers. But he doesn't feel like a Laker.
- 33:42Speaker 9: And the key point is, Stu, that championship was a joke.
- 33:45Speaker 9: People mention the Dodgers.
- 33:46Speaker 3: It's their first world title since 2008. What are you
- 33:48Speaker 3: talking about? They go... Well, the COVID year, I go,
- 33:51Speaker 3: it was a 60-game baseball season.
- 33:53Speaker 9: That was the stupidest World Series title I've ever heard
- 33:55Speaker 9: of in my life.
- 33:56Speaker 3: Like, what? No one's taking that seriously. No one goes,
- 33:59Speaker 3: remember that arduous 60-game season?
- 34:01Speaker 9: And then Clayton Kershaw finally won a World Series.
- 34:03Speaker 3: I'm like, no, it's completely diluted. It's a joke.
- 34:07Speaker 1: How would you feel if one of your kids said, hey, Dad,
- 34:10Speaker 1: Favorite tennis player of all time is someone other than
- 34:12Speaker 1: Roger Federer?
- 34:15Speaker 3: It's a great question.
- 34:16Speaker 9: One of my friends asked me the other day, he said, hey,
- 34:17Speaker 9: you know, since Federer's been gone, who do you root for?
- 34:20Speaker 3: And I go, no one. He said, what do you mean?
- 34:22Speaker 3: I go, I watch tennis, I love tennis, but....
- 34:25Speaker 9: No one will ever match the sheer wattage and beloved
- 34:29Speaker 9: nature I have towards Roger Federer.
- 34:30Speaker 3: I like OJ Aliassime because I'm Canadian. I root for Felix, okay?
- 34:33Speaker 2: Right.
- 34:34Speaker 3: Like I said, bounce Shelton to the left. He's got
- 34:36Speaker 3: a good serve. Okay, cool. Taylor Fritz, we're locked in
- 34:38Speaker 3: right now, you and me, but no one ever.
- 34:41Speaker 9: It often makes me think, I think it was Bill
- 34:43Speaker 9: Simmons who once said, a great sign of parental failure
- 34:47Speaker 9: is if your kids don't cheer for your teams. Like
- 34:50Speaker 9: if Taylor's kid Godwin was a Red Sox fan, he'd go,
- 34:52Speaker 9: you must hate your father.
- 34:53Speaker 3: Like, wow, you really stuck it to him by doing that.
- 34:56Speaker 3: So you're right.
- 34:57Speaker 9: If ever my kids didn't name Federer as their favorite player.
- 35:00Speaker 9: That is parental failure 101. Managerial malpractice by me.
- 35:06Speaker 3: I poisoned them into thinking. When I told them I'm
- 35:08Speaker 3: going to run around to meet Federer, they said, oh,
- 35:09Speaker 3: he's the GOAT. He's LeBron.
- 35:11Speaker 9: If you had other people in the room, they'd go, well,
- 35:13Speaker 9: Joker's 24 majors. Nadal beat him head-to-head. My kids are
- 35:16Speaker 9: so poisoned by my nonsense. They're like, yeah, Roger's clearly.
- 35:20Speaker 9: He's the LeBron and the Michael Jordan of tennis. No
- 35:22Speaker 9: one's even close to this guy.
- 35:23Speaker 3: I'm like, yes! I've got them believing my nonsense.
- 35:26Speaker 4: And an I would rather my kid grows up to
- 35:29Speaker 4: be a Red Sox fan than he grows up to
- 35:32Speaker 4: be a Duke fan.
- 35:34Speaker 3: That's a good question. What would be the least favorite
- 35:36Speaker 3: thing you'd like to see happen?
- 35:38Speaker 1: He loves the Yankees. He loves Carolina. He went to Carolina.
- 35:41Speaker 1: He walked onto that football team. So you're saying that
- 35:43Speaker 1: you would rather your kid come to you one day
- 35:45Speaker 1: and say, hey, I'm a.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Red Sox fan, just as long as he doesn't say
- 35:48Speaker 3: he's a Duke fan, right?
- 35:49Speaker 4: Yeah, that's where I draw the line.
- 35:51Speaker 3: To be clear, though.
- 35:52Speaker 9: Taylor, again, I know we hate Duke, but Duke is
- 35:54Speaker 9: a great school. Imagine your son's going to Duke Law School.
- 35:58Speaker 9: And he happens to be a Blue Devils fan. You're
- 35:59Speaker 9: just saying fandom. What if he actually gets accepted to Duke,
- 36:02Speaker 9: which is a great institution? You're not gonna let him
- 36:04Speaker 9: go to Duke?
- 36:04Speaker 3: He's not gonna let him apply to Duke.
- 36:06Speaker 4: And I'm definitely not paying that tuition.
- 36:10Speaker 3: He gets a full scholarship. Full ride. Super smart kid.
- 36:13Speaker 3: He's going to Duke Law School and you're going to go, sorry, buddy.
- 36:15Speaker 3: He'd rather pay for him to go somewhere else. He would.
- 36:18Speaker 4: You go to Elon down the street, buddy. Be a phoenix.
- 36:22Speaker 3: Not quite the same prestige as graduating from Duke. Elon
- 36:27Speaker 3: over Duke. That is unbelievable. That is a true thing
- 36:30Speaker 3: about a Thursday.
- 36:32Speaker 4: Some people call Elon the Harvard of the South.
- 36:36Speaker 3: No, that's not happening. There's no one saying that. Come on.
- 36:39Speaker 3: Still people is no people. Taylor, put it on the poll, please.
- 36:42Speaker 1: That's the got 790 on X.
- 36:44Speaker 3: Does anyone refer to Elon as the Harvard of the South?
- 36:47Speaker 3: 877-99 on Fox.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Can your favorite player from your favorite team be a
- 36:56Speaker 1: player that you never saw play? 877-99 on Fox. That's
- 37:03Speaker 1: why we call it a Think About It Thursday. I'm thinking.
- 37:05Speaker 3: I mean, I prefer not to think, but here I
- 37:08Speaker 3: am thinking. I just want to watch Taylor Fritz.
