- 0:05Speaker 1: Once again, it's time to catch up with Country Weekly.
- 0:08Speaker 1: When we check out news and gossip from the world
- 0:11Speaker 1: of country music. I'm your host Ken Dawkins, and I
- 0:14Speaker 1: will be reading from various sources found online. As a reminder,
- 0:18Speaker 1: RADIOI is a reading service intended for people who are
- 0:21Speaker 1: blind or have other disabilities that make it difficult to
- 0:24Speaker 1: read printed material. We'll begin with the first article date
- 0:27Speaker 1: of the twenty eighth of July from Countrycentral dot Com.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Wyatt Flores Teas's four album release shows. Wyatt Flores has
- 0:37Speaker 1: announced a run of pop up shows to celebrate the
- 0:40Speaker 1: release of his sophomore albums Scared of Heights do out
- 0:43Speaker 1: the thirty first of July, and those shows include Tulsa, Oklahoma, Nashville, Tennessee, Denver, Colorado,
- 0:49Speaker 1: and Chicago. Due to limited capacity, tickets for the Nashville
- 0:53Speaker 1: and Chicago shows will be distributed through a limited lottery
- 0:56Speaker 1: rather than general sale. Flores will also hold albums in
- 1:00Speaker 1: each of the four cities, along with an additional signing
- 1:03Speaker 1: a top or stop in Oklahoma City. The pop up
- 1:06Speaker 1: run coincides with the release of Scared of Heights, Flora's
- 1:10Speaker 1: thirteen track sophomore album and his first projects in signing
- 1:14Speaker 1: with Island Records MCA. Ahead of the release, Flores shared
- 1:17Speaker 1: four tracks from the record, Scared of Heights, Half the Man,
- 1:20Speaker 1: Drive All Night, and Running on E. The intimate release
- 1:24Speaker 1: weeks shows follow a run of larger stages for Flores
- 1:27Speaker 1: this year, including sets at Bonaoo and Stagecoach, plus dates
- 1:31Speaker 1: alongside George Strait and Cody Johnson. He'll continue touring behind
- 1:35Speaker 1: the new album this fall with his Drive All Night tour. Next.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Tucker Wetmore reveals new Sunburn mixtape. Tucker Wetmore has announced Sunburn,
- 1:47Speaker 1: a six song mixtape arriving this weekend, assembling the three

- 2:14Speaker 1: the sixty first ACM Awards. His debut album, What Not
- 2:18Speaker 1: To became the biggest country album from a new artist
- 2:21Speaker 1: in twenty twenty five. Debuting at number fifteen on the
- 2:24Speaker 1: Billboard two hundred. Wet More recently wrapped up the sold
- 2:28Speaker 1: out first leg of the Brunette World Tour in London
- 2:31Speaker 1: and has since joined Hardy's Country Country Tour. He'll resume
- 2:34Speaker 1: the second leg of his headline run this summer and fall,
- 2:37Speaker 1: including a run of dates alongside Brooks and Dunn in September,
- 2:40Speaker 1: with a stop at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on September twelve.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Moving on, Zach Top to release two new singles next month.
- 2:49Speaker 1: After teasing the song Good Girls and Cowgirls. As we
- 2:52Speaker 1: mentioned last week, Zach Top will release a two song
- 2:54Speaker 1: pack on August twenty first and Other Side of Hurton,
- 2:58Speaker 1: expanding on the standalone single announcement from earlier this month.
- 3:02Speaker 1: The pack will also arrive on seven inch vinyls September
- 3:05Speaker 1: twenty fifth. Top previously confirmed the release of Good Girls
- 3:09Speaker 1: and Cowgirls days earlier, which he debuted to much fanfare
- 3:13Speaker 1: at the Live Under the Big Sky festival. This release
- 3:16Speaker 1: arrives in the middle of Top's Cold Beer and Country
- 3:18Speaker 1: Music Tour, presented by Corps Banquet, which will include headlining
- 3:22Speaker 1: stops across the country. Topp will also join Chris Stapleton
- 3:26Speaker 1: for a run of stadium dates this summer. The new
- 3:28Speaker 1: music caps a career defining year for Top, who won
- 3:31Speaker 1: Best Traditional Country Album at the sixty eighth Annual Grammy
- 3:34Speaker 1: Awards for his sophomore record Ain't In It for My Health,
- 3:38Speaker 1: becoming the inaugural recipient of that newly introduced category. Now
- 3:43Speaker 1: e mosey on over to people dot com Country with
- 3:46Speaker 1: the first article dated the twenty fifth of July. Casey
- 3:49Speaker 1: Musgraves cancels three concert dates on upcoming tour, including opening
- 3:54Speaker 1: night with no explanation, Casey Musgraves has canceled three shows
- 3:59Speaker 1: in her own coming Middle of Nowhere tour, including what
- 4:02Speaker 1: would have been the country star's kickoff show in Chicago.
- 4:06Speaker 1: The canceled shows include the Chicago opening night performance scheduled
- 4:10Speaker 1: for August twentieth, along with a Boston show schedule for
- 4:13Speaker 1: the twenty ninth in Brooklyn schedule for September two, per
- 4:17Speaker 1: The Daily Mail, a Reddit user shared a screenshot of
- 4:21Speaker 1: one of the emails announcing the cancelation for the Boston show,
- 4:24Speaker 1: which said that refunds would be automatically issued to ticket holders.
- 4:29Speaker 1: The cities affected by the cancelations had concerts schedule for
- 4:32Speaker 1: multiple nights, and each still has tickets available for the
- 4:35Speaker 1: alternative dates, per the singer's official website. Musk Graves, whose
- 4:40Speaker 1: thirty seven has not yet addressed the cancelations. A representative
- 4:43Speaker 1: for the singer declined to comment when reached by People.
- 4:46Speaker 1: The Grammy Winner first announced the upcoming North American tour
- 4:49Speaker 1: back in April, with playing stops and cities including Toronto, Boston,
- 4:53Speaker 1: New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Nashville, Austin, Atlanta, Salt Lake City,
- 4:57Speaker 1: Los Angeles, and Moore, before wrapping up up on October
- 5:01Speaker 1: twenty seventh at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. Midland
- 5:05Speaker 1: Flatland Cavalry, Carter, Faith Steavy, Charles Wesley Godwin, William Beckman,
- 5:11Speaker 1: Gabriella Rose and The Broodie Brothers were also announced as
- 5:14Speaker 1: opening acts throughout the run at the time. The tour
- 5:17Speaker 1: is in support of Musgrave's sixth studio album, Middle of Nowhere,
- 5:21Speaker 1: which was released back on May first. The project features
- 5:24Speaker 1: collaborations with Gregory Allen, Isakov, Billy Strings, Moranta Lambert, and
- 5:29Speaker 1: Willie Nelson. The bulk of this record was made during
- 5:32Speaker 1: the longest single period of my life, Musgrave said in
- 5:34Speaker 1: a statement back at that time. She added, I found
- 5:37Speaker 1: that the first time were for the first time it
- 5:39Speaker 1: actually felt incredible being alone and existing in a space
- 5:43Speaker 1: not defined by anybody else. I became fascinated with the
- 5:46Speaker 1: concept of limited space, both geographical and emotional. We don't
- 5:51Speaker 1: linger in these transitional empty spaces long enough and rush
- 5:55Speaker 1: to define where or whatever is Next, Musgraves continued, I
- 5:58Speaker 1: became so at ease with being in the middle of
- 6:00Speaker 1: nowhere in many senses, and sitting in the uncomfort of undefined.
- 6:05Speaker 1: I had a lot of time for creating, ambling and
- 6:07Speaker 1: leaning into myself in different ways, horses, humor, riding with
- 6:11Speaker 1: my early collaborations again, and living out my very simple
- 6:14Speaker 1: inspired life between Texas, Tennessee, and Mexico. Next, Trace Atkins
- 6:21Speaker 1: says he forgives ex wife for shooting him after an
- 6:23Speaker 1: argument back in nineteen ninety four. I don't think she
- 6:27Speaker 1: meant it. Country star Trace Atkins is opening up about
- 6:31Speaker 1: the time he was shot by his ex wife during
- 6:33Speaker 1: a domestic dispute more than thirty years ago. The You're
- 6:37Speaker 1: Gonna Miss This singer, now sixty four, suffered near fatal
- 6:40Speaker 1: injuries to his heart and lungs after his then wife,
- 6:43Speaker 1: Julie Curtis, shot him as he tried to disarm her.
- 6:45Speaker 1: This was during an argument over his drinking back in
- 6:48Speaker 1: ninety four. During an appearance on This Past Weekend with
- 6:51Speaker 1: THEO Vaughn Podcast Tuesday, the twenty eighth of July, Atkins
- 6:56Speaker 1: quipped that Curtis took it a little far. I thought
- 6:58Speaker 1: that was uncalled for. Was totally uncalled for, he said,
- 7:01Speaker 1: of the shooting, just leave, Let's just call it quits,
- 7:04Speaker 1: and we don't have to go that far. Adkins, who
- 7:07Speaker 1: did not press charges, said that he did not think
- 7:09Speaker 1: Curis meant to shoot him, noting that he believed she
- 7:11Speaker 1: didn't have any idea with what to do with that gun.
- 7:15Speaker 1: I'd never seen her hold to gun. I've never seen
- 7:17Speaker 1: her shoot a gun. I knew she had one, but
- 7:18Speaker 1: I'd never seen her use it, he said. I don't
- 7:21Speaker 1: think she knew what was about to happen when she
- 7:23Speaker 1: pulled that trigger. She thought it was a toy. Because
- 7:26Speaker 1: of that, Adkins said he's come to forgive her, noting
- 7:29Speaker 1: she thought I was indestructible. The singer explained that in
- 7:32Speaker 1: lead up to the shooting, Curtis was mad and wanted
- 7:35Speaker 1: him to leave, which he refused to do. As they argued,
- 7:38Speaker 1: she put the gun under his left arm, and when
- 7:40Speaker 1: she fired, the bullet went straight through and came out
- 7:42Speaker 1: under his right arm, having gone straight through his heart
- 7:45Speaker 1: and his Lungsdadkins was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center
- 7:50Speaker 1: and underwent emergency open heart surgery. It was a kill shot,
- 7:54Speaker 1: the doctor said. The only reason I survived was because
- 7:57Speaker 1: the bullet went through at point blank velocity. Velocity so
- 8:01Speaker 1: it didn't have time to mushroom. He explained, if it
- 8:03Speaker 1: hadn't been for that life flight in Vanderbilt Medical Center,
- 8:06Speaker 1: I wouldn't be here Atkins and Curtis divorced later that year.
- 8:11Speaker 1: There's a Surprise, and the singer released his debut album,
- 8:14Speaker 1: Dreaming Out Loud back in nineteen ninety six. The singer,
- 8:17Speaker 1: who shares five daughters with two other ex wives, married
- 8:21Speaker 1: actress Victoria Pratt in twenty nineteen, ceremony officiated by Blake Shelton.
- 8:27Speaker 1: He still sees a heart doctor for regular checkups and
- 8:30Speaker 1: open up about the incident to people Back in twenty
- 8:33Speaker 1: twenty two, it wasn't my time to go he said
- 8:36Speaker 1: it was painful, but it didn't see my memory. The
- 8:38Speaker 1: physical pain broken bones and surgeries and bullets and getting
- 8:42Speaker 1: beat up and cut has never really bothered me. I
- 8:45Speaker 1: have a high tolerance for it. It's the broken hearts
- 8:47Speaker 1: that leave the deepest scars. Now we hits a ride
- 8:50Speaker 1: on over to saving country music with the first article
- 8:53Speaker 1: date of July twenty sixth, Waylon Jennings to be honored
- 8:57Speaker 1: in Hollywood. It's the civic duty of any true country
- 9:01Speaker 1: music fan to support the careers of deserving artists who
- 9:04Speaker 1: are keeping the flame of country music alive while working
- 9:07Speaker 1: to help preserve the legacies of the greats that came before.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Waylon Jennings has one of those legacies, and that's easy
- 9:15Speaker 1: to preserve since he put together a career that hasn't
- 9:17Speaker 1: only withstood the test of time, but arguably has only
- 9:21Speaker 1: grown in stature over the years and continues to significantly
- 9:25Speaker 1: influence the country artists of today. Recently, the music of
- 9:29Speaker 1: legacy of Whalen Jennings has been renewed attention after his
- 9:32Speaker 1: son's shooter. Jennings helped release a very well received archive
- 9:35Speaker 1: album called Songbird last year that is also prepped the
- 9:39Speaker 1: second of three archive albums to be released on November sixteenth,
- 9:43Speaker 1: called Diamonds Now. Whalen Jennings is receiving an honor he
- 9:47Speaker 1: probably should have received many years ago. Though Let's face it,
- 9:50Speaker 1: Kaitlyn never liked being honored that much in life, skipping
- 9:53Speaker 1: out on award shows and not even attending his Country
- 9:56Speaker 1: Music Hall of Fame induction. But that didn't mean he
- 9:59Speaker 1: didn't deserve those honors. He just rarely, if ever, labored
- 10:02Speaker 1: at all to receive them. That's one of the things
- 10:05Speaker 1: that made him so cool, says Saving Country Music. Last week,
- 10:09Speaker 1: it was announced that Whale and Jennings will be part
- 10:11Speaker 1: of a twenty twenty seven class receiving stars on the
- 10:14Speaker 1: Hollywood Walk of Fame. Weyne will be a rare posthumous recipient.
- 10:19Speaker 1: He will go in with other musical performers Carol g
- 10:22Speaker 1: David Guetta, The Ramones, Joseph Sadler, Mark Shaman, Sea, Smashing Pumpkins,
- 10:28Speaker 1: Lincoln Park, and Lil Wayne. Thanks to the amazing Hollywood
- 10:33Speaker 1: Chamber of Commerce, to our great friend John Arakaki, and
- 10:36Speaker 1: the persistence and follow through of my wife, Whalen is
- 10:39Speaker 1: getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Shooter
- 10:42Speaker 1: Jennings said about the honor, I could not be more
- 10:44Speaker 1: proud to permanently honor him among the stars who have
- 10:47Speaker 1: come before. A country artist receiving Walk of Fame star
- 10:51Speaker 1: is not entirely unprecedented, but not a given either. Roy Acoff,
- 10:55Speaker 1: Eddie Arnold, and Gene Autry were all inducted on the
- 10:58Speaker 1: Walks Hall of Fame back in the Night eineighteen sixty one.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Hank Williams has a Walk of Famed star. Johnny Cash,
- 11:04Speaker 1: Loretta Lynn, Kenny Rodgers, Patsy Kline, Randy Travis, and Vince
- 11:08Speaker 1: Gill are others who received the honor. Dolly Parton has
- 11:11Speaker 1: two stars, one for herself and one for the trio
- 11:14Speaker 1: with Linda Ronstadt and Emmy Lou Harris. Interestingly, Wayne's old
- 11:19Speaker 1: running buddy Willie Nelson, does not have a star on
- 11:21Speaker 1: the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It probably helped that Sun
- 11:24Speaker 1: Shooter is based in la and he and his wife
- 11:26Speaker 1: could lobby for the honor. There are bigger honors entertainers
- 11:29Speaker 1: can receive, and some curmudgeonally outlawed country fans are sure
- 11:33Speaker 1: to say Whale and woodn't care or scoff at it's
- 11:35Speaker 1: happening in Hollywood, but preserving the legacy of these country
- 11:39Speaker 1: artists wherever possible is the way to keep their memories alive. Next,
- 11:45Speaker 1: traditional country artists, now is the time to submit to
- 11:49Speaker 1: the Grammys. In twenty twenty five, the Grammy Awards finally
- 11:53Speaker 1: added a new Best Traditional Country Album category to the
- 11:56Speaker 1: twenty twenty six roster and renamed the existing Best Country
- 12:00Speaker 1: Album category Best Contemporary Country Album for traditional country artists
- 12:05Speaker 1: in their fans. This was a huge victory, finally traditional
- 12:09Speaker 1: countries being allowed to exist on its own, as opposed
- 12:12Speaker 1: to having to compete with the big, pop oriented names
- 12:14Speaker 1: of country or being relegated to Americana. In the new
- 12:18Speaker 1: category's first year, Charlie Crockett, Lucas Nelson, Margot Price, and
- 12:22Speaker 1: Willie Nelson all received nominations in the category that they
- 12:25Speaker 1: otherwise may not have received them, and Zak Top won
- 12:28Speaker 1: the award for his album Ain't In It for My Health.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Securing this new Grammy category was the beginning of the process,
- 12:35Speaker 1: but now traditional country music performers need to submit their
- 12:38Speaker 1: albums to the Grammy Awards for consideration. The Grammys don't
- 12:42Speaker 1: just choose out the thin air who gets to be considered,
- 12:45Speaker 1: you have to submit your work. Submissions are open now
- 12:48Speaker 1: until August twenty first. The eligibility period for the twenty
- 12:52Speaker 1: twenty seven Grammy Awards is August thirty first, twenty twenty
- 12:56Speaker 1: five through August twenty eighth, twenty twenty six. That means
- 13:00Speaker 1: if you or your favorite artist released a country album
- 13:02Speaker 1: within that period or will in the next month or so,
- 13:06Speaker 1: they are eligible and the Grammy state. We encourage everyone
- 13:09Speaker 1: to submit their entries as early as possible so that
- 13:12Speaker 1: the Recording Academies Awards team can assist with any questions
- 13:15Speaker 1: in a timely manner. If you want to know the
- 13:18Speaker 1: complete ins and outs of Grammy submission process, you can
- 13:20Speaker 1: read the Grammys How to Submit Music Guide. We'd love
- 13:24Speaker 1: to say it's quick and painless, says Saving Country Music,
- 13:26Speaker 1: but unless the album was released on a label that
- 13:28Speaker 1: is set up as a media company with the Grammys,
- 13:31Speaker 1: or you're a Grammy member, it might take some effort,
- 13:34Speaker 1: but it's an effort worth taking. Long story short, Grammy
- 13:38Speaker 1: members can submit their work along with the works of others,
- 13:41Speaker 1: and so can media companies, including labels, management groups, or,
- 13:45Speaker 1: as the Grammys define, a legitimate business entity whose core
- 13:48Speaker 1: business function is to create, aggregate, and promote audio and
- 13:52Speaker 1: or video content for commercial purposes. If you're an artist
- 13:56Speaker 1: on a label, make sure your label is submitting your
- 13:58Speaker 1: album to the Grammys and if you think it belongs
- 14:00Speaker 1: to the Best Traditional Country Album category insists that is
- 14:03Speaker 1: where you gets submitted. If for individual artists but have
- 14:07Speaker 1: made your own label, then register as a media company
- 14:10Speaker 1: and yes there are fees to do this, but then
- 14:12Speaker 1: you can submit up to five entries for free, along
- 14:15Speaker 1: with paying additional fees for additional entries. Beyond that, Saving
- 14:20Speaker 1: Country Music is here to help you as well as
- 14:22Speaker 1: If you've released a traditional country album and want to
- 14:24Speaker 1: submit it to the Grammys, reach out to Saving Country
- 14:27Speaker 1: Music and they can help the Grammy's Best Traditional Country
- 14:31Speaker 1: Album definition states traditional country includes country recordings that adhere
- 14:36Speaker 1: to the more traditional sound structures of the country genre,
- 14:40Speaker 1: including rhythm and singing style, lyrical content, as well as
- 14:43Speaker 1: traditional country instrumentation such as acoustic guitar, steel guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, piano,
- 14:50Speaker 1: electric guitar, and live drums. It also includes subgenres such
- 14:54Speaker 1: as Western, Western swing, and outlaw country. What if you
- 14:59Speaker 1: feel like an album might not quite fit into a
- 15:00Speaker 1: traditional album category, or that it sits on the bubble
- 15:03Speaker 1: between traditional and contemporary. Well that's okay, says Saving Country Music.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Make sure to submit it to the Grammys anyway, not
- 15:11Speaker 1: only might it get nominated to win. The more entries
- 15:13Speaker 1: the Grammys get, the healthier all countries categories are, and
- 15:16Speaker 1: the more likely the Best Traditional Country Album category will
- 15:19Speaker 1: stick around in definitely, then, who knows, maybe we can
- 15:22Speaker 1: also get a Best Traditional Country Song category in the
- 15:25Speaker 1: future too. An Artists don't just have to submit only
- 15:28Speaker 1: an album. If they believe they have a Grammy winning song,
- 15:31Speaker 1: they can submit it to the existing Best Country Song,
- 15:33Speaker 1: Best Country Performance, or Best Country Duo or Group Performance
- 15:37Speaker 1: categories for consideration two. As traditional country, this new Grammy
- 15:42Speaker 1: Best Traditional Country Album category is a very big moment
- 15:45Speaker 1: for artists and performers who believe in preserving the roots
- 15:48Speaker 1: of country music. But only if we continue to support it.
- 15:52Speaker 1: For too long, traditional country artists have been treated like others.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Now it's time to step up and make sure they
- 15:57Speaker 1: have a home. Now it's country noow dot com with
- 16:02Speaker 1: the article first article later July twenty seventh, Ashley McBride
- 16:07Speaker 1: creates full circle moment by inviting eleven year old singer
- 16:10Speaker 1: Sawyer June to make her Grand Old Opry debut. What
- 16:14Speaker 1: started as a memorable backstage meeting months ago is come
- 16:17Speaker 1: full circle with Ashley McBride now helping eleven year old
- 16:21Speaker 1: Sawyer June achieve her dream of making her Grand Old
- 16:24Speaker 1: Opry debut. The country star first met Sawyer back in
- 16:27Speaker 1: February during a chance encounter backstage at the Opry. The
- 16:31Speaker 1: young girl and her family were visiting town and decided
- 16:33Speaker 1: to attend to show at the iconic venue, followed by
- 16:36Speaker 1: a group tour backstage. McBride, who was performing that day,
- 16:40Speaker 1: noticed Sawyer in the crowd, singing along to every word
- 16:43Speaker 1: of light On in the kitchen. Later on, the two
- 16:46Speaker 1: crossed paths backstage, where McBride learned that the young fan
- 16:49Speaker 1: was also a singer herself, leading to a special moment
- 16:52Speaker 1: neither of them would forget. I stopped and said hello
- 16:55Speaker 1: to everybody, and in the front of the tour was
- 16:57Speaker 1: the young girl and her mom and her dad. I
- 16:59Speaker 1: went over and shook her hand and I found out
- 17:01Speaker 1: her name. They gave me some pecans from the farm,
- 17:04Speaker 1: which I love pecans and her mom said she sings
- 17:08Speaker 1: Bible forty four really well. The Arkansas native instinctively grabbed
- 17:13Speaker 1: her guitar and invited Sawyer to sing a few lines
- 17:15Speaker 1: of the song with her. The two sat together, effortlessly
- 17:18Speaker 1: harmonizing and creating a special moment that McBride's had left
- 17:21Speaker 1: her amazed by Sawyer's talent and passion at such a
- 17:24Speaker 1: young age. She later followed Sawyer on social media and
- 17:28Speaker 1: promised to keep up with her musical journey. McBride kept
- 17:31Speaker 1: her promise and was recently given the opportunity to share
- 17:34Speaker 1: some very special news with Sawyer. During her recent visit
- 17:37Speaker 1: to WSM studio. The young girl was on air with
- 17:41Speaker 1: one of her show's hosts, Aaron Cooper, who explained that
- 17:44Speaker 1: there was someone calling in to speak with her. McBride's
- 17:47Speaker 1: voice appeared on the other end of the line as
- 17:49Speaker 1: she asked Sawyer how her week was going. She also
- 17:52Speaker 1: called attention to the fact that the talent had singer
- 17:54Speaker 1: recently performed in her Redemption Bar on Nashville's Lower Broadway.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Oh that was aw that was amazing, Sawyer said, while
- 18:01Speaker 1: still getting over the shock of realizing she was talking
- 18:04Speaker 1: to the country store again. Us becoming friends is one
- 18:07Speaker 1: of the best things that's happened to me in a
- 18:09Speaker 1: long time, McBride said, Soyer echoed the sentiment by saying,
- 18:12Speaker 1: it's one of the best things that's happened to me
- 18:14Speaker 1: in a really long time. The One Night Standards singer
- 18:18Speaker 1: went on to say that she had a very important
- 18:20Speaker 1: question for the young artist. She said, as a proud
- 18:22Speaker 1: member of myself and on behalf of the folks of
- 18:24Speaker 1: the Grand Old Opry, we'd love to invite you to
- 18:27Speaker 1: stand in the circle and make your Opry debut. What
- 18:29Speaker 1: do you say? Well? Overwhelmed by surprise, Sawyer took a
- 18:33Speaker 1: moment to process the invitation before enthusiastically accepting. The emotional
- 18:37Speaker 1: moment quickly turned into tears of joy, with Sawyer telling
- 18:41Speaker 1: McBride she was the best friend I've ever had. I
- 18:44Speaker 1: told you I'm going to watch you walk across the stage,
- 18:46Speaker 1: and here we are. You're a star, Sawyer. June, thank
- 18:49Speaker 1: you so much. This is the biggest honor I've had
- 18:51Speaker 1: in my life, she responded. The Grand Old Opry is
- 18:54Speaker 1: yet to share a date for Sawyer June's big moment
- 18:56Speaker 1: in the circle. Next Bailey de Zimmerman speaks out after
- 19:01Speaker 1: Delaware State Fair concert canceled due to power outage. Billy
- 19:06Speaker 1: Zimmerman has apologized to fans after his July twenty sixth
- 19:09Speaker 1: concert that the Delaware State Fair was abruptly canceled that
- 19:13Speaker 1: was due to a power outage, leaving attendees frustrated and
- 19:15Speaker 1: searching for answers. According to those in attendance, the Country
- 19:19Speaker 1: Act was just three songs into his high energy set
- 19:22Speaker 1: when power suddenly went out throughout the entire venue and grounds.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Zimmerman attempted to make the most of it and keep
- 19:28Speaker 1: things lighthearted until more information was shared. He passed around snacks,
- 19:33Speaker 1: spoke and took selfies with fans, and even tried to
- 19:36Speaker 1: sing and play guitar without speakers or a mic to
- 19:38Speaker 1: amplify his voice. Unfortunately, moments later, his voice came over
- 19:43Speaker 1: the speakers, announcing that the remainder of the show would
- 19:46Speaker 1: be canceled as it would likely be a while before
- 19:48Speaker 1: power was restored. We are waiting on crews to come
- 19:51Speaker 1: and fix the electric At this point in time, it
- 19:53Speaker 1: will take some time to get the power up and running. Unfortunately,
- 19:57Speaker 1: we will need to cancel the show. Please evacuate the
- 19:59Speaker 1: Grand stand at this point in time. Videos capturing the
- 20:03Speaker 1: moment showed the crowd erupting in a collective string of
- 20:05Speaker 1: booze as Zimmerman stood on stage giving thumbs down and
- 20:09Speaker 1: visibly expressing his disappointment. The Chevy Silverado singer made his
- 20:14Speaker 1: way on to the M and T Bank grandstand at
- 20:16Speaker 1: seven thirty pm, and by eight PM, a power outage
- 20:19Speaker 1: update was posted on the official Instagram page of the
- 20:22Speaker 1: Delaware State Fair. We are aware of the power outage
- 20:26Speaker 1: currently affecting the Delaware State Fair. Our team is actively
- 20:28Speaker 1: working to resolve the issue as quickly and safely as possible.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Zimmerman later shared a statement apologizing to everyone who came
- 20:36Speaker 1: out expecting a full concert, only for the show to
- 20:39Speaker 1: be cut short. He explained city lost power and there
- 20:42Speaker 1: was nothing we could do. He assured fans. He is
- 20:45Speaker 1: looking into being able to come back as he was
- 20:47Speaker 1: just getting started and knows that his supporters deserve a show.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Love you all, hope to see you soon, he concluded. Next,
- 20:55Speaker 1: Megan Maroney says being single is given her a clear
- 20:58Speaker 1: head during her biggest two hours yet. Megan Maroney is
- 21:02Speaker 1: enjoying one of the biggest moments of her career as
- 21:04Speaker 1: she headlines her first arena tour. While the sold out
- 21:07Speaker 1: crowds have made the experience unforgettable, the singer admits there's
- 21:11Speaker 1: another reason this chapter has been especially rewarding. In her
- 21:15Speaker 1: new interview with Cosmopolitan, the country star revealed that the
- 21:17Speaker 1: Cloud nine tour is one of the first times she's
- 21:20Speaker 1: hit the road while single, giving her freedom to fully
- 21:23Speaker 1: embrace the experience without outside distractions. There have been a
- 21:27Speaker 1: lot of big moments and fun times that I had
- 21:29Speaker 1: been ruined by a guy. For me, it's nice to
- 21:32Speaker 1: just have a clear head. I'm learning what I like
- 21:34Speaker 1: and what I don't like, and what my goals are,
- 21:36Speaker 1: she shared. Moroni also shared that this chapter has brought
- 21:39Speaker 1: a new level of focus and discipline to her life,
- 21:42Speaker 1: giving her the chance to establish healthy routines. However, once
- 21:46Speaker 1: the tour ends in the fall and she returns from
- 21:48Speaker 1: her Europe dates, the medicine singer admits she's not opposed
- 21:51Speaker 1: to being on the prowl again. Yeah, it'll be fall,
- 21:55Speaker 1: it'll be coughing season. But right now, it's been so
- 21:57Speaker 1: nice to have my friends and family out with me
- 22:00Speaker 1: and that not have an aspect of my life it's
- 22:02Speaker 1: any sort of problem for me. Looking back on a
- 22:05Speaker 1: past tour, Moroni remembered quietly dealing with a heartbreak, even
- 22:09Speaker 1: crying before taking the stage because of a boy who
- 22:12Speaker 1: stopped her from enjoying what was supposed to be an
- 22:14Speaker 1: exciting moment in her life. That difficult chapter later inspired
- 22:18Speaker 1: her song hell of a Show. Now, she says, she's
- 22:20Speaker 1: in much happier place, spending this tour surrounded by her
- 22:23Speaker 1: close friends and of course her new dog, Boots. Life
- 22:26Speaker 1: is peaceful. I got a dog in February, and that's
- 22:29Speaker 1: when I needed all along no man a dog, she
- 22:32Speaker 1: stated confidently the best part about being a songwriter is
- 22:35Speaker 1: that when Maroni does experience difficult moments like that, she
- 22:39Speaker 1: can turn them into a song and hopefully help someone
- 22:42Speaker 1: else who might have gone through something similar. In fact,
- 22:45Speaker 1: she has built an entire catalog of relatable songs that
- 22:48Speaker 1: her fans now scream back to her, making her concerts
- 22:51Speaker 1: feel like one big therapy session. Knowing that she's helped
- 22:54Speaker 1: so many fans gives the Georgian and aid of the
- 22:56Speaker 1: confidence to continue being vulnerable. When I get scared of
- 23:00Speaker 1: putting out a song because it's too personal, I think
- 23:02Speaker 1: about how it might help somebody, Because every time I've
- 23:05Speaker 1: done it and I've taken that risk, people have come
- 23:07Speaker 1: up to me and they're like, this song made me
- 23:09Speaker 1: dump this guy, and this song is making me want
- 23:12Speaker 1: to go back with him. It's just one of those
- 23:14Speaker 1: things that you have to be like, the heck with it.
- 23:16Speaker 1: What's the worst that could happen. Fans got a heavy
- 23:19Speaker 1: dose of both vulnerability and empowerment in her latest Cloud
- 23:22Speaker 1: nine album, which arrived in February. The Cloud nine Tour
- 23:25Speaker 1: continues tonight with this week rather with a stop in
- 23:28Speaker 1: Iowa before heading to Minnesota. She will close out her
- 23:32Speaker 1: run of US states in mid August and then head
- 23:35Speaker 1: overseas for shows across Norway, Denmark, France, the UK and more.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Now we move on to huller dot com with the
- 23:44Speaker 1: first article date of the twenty eighth of July. Carly
- 23:46Speaker 1: Piers shares the story behind writing I Hope You're Happy
- 23:49Speaker 1: Now with Luke Combs. Carly Piers shares the process of
- 23:54Speaker 1: writing I Hope You're Happy Now with Luke Colmbs, a
- 23:56Speaker 1: country classic we still have on repeat and one of
- 23:59Speaker 1: Pierce's biggest hits to date. Although Pierce recorded It with
- 24:02Speaker 1: Lee Bryce as part of her self titled twenty twenty record.
- 24:05Speaker 1: She penned the track with Combs, Ray Montante, Randy Montana,
- 24:08Speaker 1: and Jonathan Singleton. In an interview with Absolute Radio Country,
- 24:13Speaker 1: Pierce told of the vision she had for the track
- 24:15Speaker 1: and how Combs and Bryce fit perfectly in the thresholds
- 24:17Speaker 1: of writing and recording process. Reflective on coming up in
- 24:22Speaker 1: the same country era as When It Rains It Pours
- 24:24Speaker 1: hit Maker, Pierce shared years ago, when we were on
- 24:27Speaker 1: what's called radio tour in the States, this guy had
- 24:30Speaker 1: a song out called Hurricane. I thought he was really good.
- 24:34Speaker 1: He was sitting like two down for me on one
- 24:36Speaker 1: of those radio shows, So I just asked him after
- 24:38Speaker 1: the show, Hey, I really like your voice. Would you
- 24:40Speaker 1: ever write a song with me? It was Luke, though
- 24:44Speaker 1: having played a vital role in bringing the hit to life,
- 24:47Speaker 1: acting as a trusted voice for Pierce's deep vulnerabilities within
- 24:50Speaker 1: the song and co writer on the track's ever flowing melody.
- 24:53Speaker 1: At the time promotional scheduling for the When It Rains
- 24:57Speaker 1: When It Pours hit Maker took the lead and much
- 24:59Speaker 1: of him attention. This ultimately caused Colmns to step down
- 25:03Speaker 1: before a studio polished version of the song with his
- 25:06Speaker 1: feature would ever see the light of day. However, when
- 25:10Speaker 1: one door closes, another one opens, and that second door
- 25:13Speaker 1: led to a version of the song, it almost feels
- 25:15Speaker 1: like destiny when Bryce stepped in to put the duet
- 25:18Speaker 1: in motion. Instead, Pierce had reached out to Bryce, figuring
- 25:21Speaker 1: he would be a perfect fit for the male perspective
- 25:23Speaker 1: of the duet because of his gruff yet vulnerable vocal style,
- 25:27Speaker 1: and honestly, this writer couldn't agree more with Pierce's female
- 25:31Speaker 1: lead that represents her certainty behind ending the long term
- 25:35Speaker 1: relationship and the acceptance of the pain she must cause
- 25:38Speaker 1: to do so. Bryce's counterpart moves against the tide of heartbreak,
- 25:42Speaker 1: where his verse of the duet reflects hurting, longing, and
- 25:44Speaker 1: a broken heart that's far from healing. Ultimately, the song
- 25:48Speaker 1: wouldn't be what it is today without all three of
- 25:50Speaker 1: these stars and the roles that they played. Pulling from
- 25:54Speaker 1: a trying time in Pierce's real life, Bryce's emotional vocals
- 25:57Speaker 1: spanned perfectly to the vision she had for the female perspective. Meanwhile,
- 26:01Speaker 1: Comb's writing, along with his loyalty to helping Pierce make
- 26:04Speaker 1: her vision come to life as best as he could,
- 26:07Speaker 1: combined to create the country radio and chart soaring hit.
- 26:10Speaker 1: The track reached number one on the Billboard Country Airplay
- 26:13Speaker 1: Charts in June twenty twenty, a full circle moment for
- 26:17Speaker 1: the stars and a bitter sweet call to the time
- 26:19Speaker 1: that they had spent together creating it. Pierce and Combs
- 26:22Speaker 1: did get to perform the song together for the first
- 26:24Speaker 1: time at London's Royal Albert Hall as part of the
- 26:27Speaker 1: Grand Old Opry's international debut back in the fall of
- 26:30Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, six years after the song's release. Next,
- 26:35Speaker 1: Kenny Chesney unveils Silver Sands Marina track list with Megan
- 26:39Speaker 1: Morony and Moore. Kenny Chesney has unveiled the track list
- 26:43Speaker 1: for his eagerly anticipated new album, Silver Sands Marina, with
- 26:47Speaker 1: Meghan Maroni, Colby Calay and Lyley That's Lily Meola, all
- 26:51Speaker 1: set to feature Moronio linked up with Chesney for the
- 26:54Speaker 1: CMA nominated He Had to Be There in twenty twenty five,
- 26:57Speaker 1: combines once again with the I Go Back, Hit Me
- 27:00Speaker 1: Are for It Just Got Weird called the Calais Guests
- 27:03Speaker 1: on what we Got going on? While Lili Miola appears
- 27:05Speaker 1: on Goldfish. In addition, fans will be able to enjoy
- 27:09Speaker 1: the already released singles carry On in Silver Sands Marina
- 27:13Speaker 1: as part of the forthcoming album, which arrives Friday, September
- 27:16Speaker 1: twenty fifth. The project, which serves as Chesney's twenty first
- 27:20Speaker 1: studio album, will also include brand new offerings such as Shotglass,
- 27:24Speaker 1: Burned My Boat, Sad Casino, and Shot a Car into Space,
- 27:29Speaker 1: and a new statement. Chesney shares how the record came about.
- 27:32Speaker 1: It's funny how records show you who they are, and
- 27:34Speaker 1: Silver Sands Marina came together in a whole other way
- 27:37Speaker 1: when we found this title track and a couple of others.
- 27:40Speaker 1: When we went in and cut those last three tracks,
- 27:42Speaker 1: I realized it's like rock on your shoe. It'll bother
- 27:45Speaker 1: you until it's right when you're dealing in songs, but
- 27:48Speaker 1: when it's right, well you know it. The Knoxville native,
- 27:51Speaker 1: who recently opened a new living in the Fast Forward
- 27:54Speaker 1: exhibition at Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame goes on,
- 27:58Speaker 1: some of these songs are unlike anything people heard or
- 28:00Speaker 1: haven't heard in a long time. Some of them go deep,
- 28:03Speaker 1: some of them will make people turn it up. A
- 28:05Speaker 1: few will make them laugh, but together I think they'll
- 28:08Speaker 1: remind them of how great it is to be alive,
- 28:10Speaker 1: even on days when you need a song like carry On.
- 28:13Speaker 1: We're making the best of what we got. He adds,
- 28:16Speaker 1: I love talking about heart life music on Talk Shop
- 28:19Speaker 1: Live because it'll let me get inside what we were
- 28:21Speaker 1: trying to do and the process. It was a chance
- 28:24Speaker 1: to show people how much telling my story meant to me,
- 28:26Speaker 1: and I feel the same way about this record. Well.
- 28:30Speaker 1: This concludes the reading of Country Weekly for this week.
- 28:32Speaker 1: If you have any comments or suggestions about the program,
- 28:36Speaker 1: kindly call us at eight five nine four two two
- 28:39Speaker 1: sixty three ninety. Thank you for joining me and on
- 28:42Speaker 1: behalf of everyone here at RADIOI. This is Ken Dawkins,
