- 0:01Speaker 1: Live on Sky News.
- 0:03Speaker 2: This is Shari.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Good Evening Tonight our exclusive report that intelligence agencies are
- 0:12Speaker 3: investigating Australians who've flown to Lebanon for a terror leader's funeral.
- 0:18Speaker 3: This as we expose more people who are openly supporting
- 0:21Speaker 3: Hesbela dirty politics. The Albanezy government behind in the polls
- 0:26Speaker 3: launches personal attacks on Peter Dutton. The Prime Minister is
- 0:30Speaker 3: also exposed for protecting China over the live fire drill
- 0:34Speaker 3: in the Tasman Sea. The Bivas family has hit out
- 0:38Speaker 3: at Prime Minister Albanezi for his callous response to the
- 0:42Speaker 3: grotesque coffin spectacle. My exclusive report coming up, and of
- 0:48Speaker 3: course we'll broadcast the Bibas family funeral live. The eulogies
- 0:53Speaker 3: will start at eight thirty tonight our time. Right in
- 0:56Speaker 3: the middle of our show, we'll cross to Israel as
- 0:59Speaker 3: father and husband Yadin speaks for the first time and
- 1:03Speaker 3: as we all farewell his beautiful boys. But first tonight
- 1:09Speaker 3: I can exclusively reveal that intelligence and security agencies are
- 1:14Speaker 3: investigating the Australians attending the funeral of terror leader Hassan Nasrallah.
- 1:19Speaker 3: We can also tonight expose more Australians who are at
- 1:23Speaker 3: the Hasbel Alder's funeral, including a photographer and a kid's
- 1:27Speaker 3: footy coach. Government sources told me today that the agencies
- 1:32Speaker 3: are examining the Australians who attended the funeral services commemorating
- 1:37Speaker 3: one of the world's worst terrorists. They include Abed Almajid Mortada, Miriam.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Ishak Zein and Hassan Jeba.
- 1:52Speaker 3: We also showed a group of individuals last night who
- 1:55Speaker 3: claim to be the AUSSI crew. In a moment, Taal
- 2:00Speaker 3: exposed more Australians who attended the funeral of the terror
- 2:03Speaker 3: leader responsible for murdering thousands of innocent.
- 2:07Speaker 1: People around the world.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Some of the individuals discussed last night were already known
- 2:13Speaker 3: to the intelligence agencies and there's now a question over
- 2:18Speaker 3: how the alban Easy government, Home Affairs, Bodiforce and the
- 2:22Speaker 3: agencies will handle this. Will they allow these individuals to
- 2:28Speaker 3: come back into the country or will Tony Burke investigate
- 2:32Speaker 3: using the powers to block their return and he has
- 2:36Speaker 3: those powers. AZEO Director General Mike Burgess told Shadow Home
- 2:40Speaker 3: Affairs Minister James Patterson last night in Senate estimates that
- 2:45Speaker 3: Australia can temporarily prevent someone returning to the country if
- 2:50Speaker 3: authorities believe they pose a threat.
- 2:53Speaker 4: There are Australians will have a right to return. That
- 2:57Speaker 4: there is temporary exclusion orders that can be applied in
- 2:59Speaker 4: some so circumstances that would control that return in a
- 3:02Speaker 4: manner which was enabled the issue to be managed effectively
- 3:05Speaker 4: by authorities, including ASIO.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Mike Burgess made it very clear he would be concerned
- 3:12Speaker 3: if he learned that Australians were traveling overseas to participate
- 3:16Speaker 3: in an event organized by a listed terror group, and
- 3:20Speaker 3: he said it could be unlawful.
- 3:23Speaker 4: As a security service, I'd be regardless of whether it's
- 3:27Speaker 4: listed or not, if they were going to an event,
- 3:28Speaker 4: whether a vile extremists or known terrorists, we would be interested.
- 3:32Speaker 4: As Australia's security service. The fact that an organization is
- 3:37Speaker 4: listed is sending a message to society that's a listed
- 3:39Speaker 4: terrorist organization and actually there are criminal penalties for engaging
- 3:43Speaker 4: with or being a member of such group.
- 3:47Speaker 3: The Prime Minister had a shockingly weak response to this
- 3:52Speaker 3: very serious matter.
- 3:54Speaker 5: Today, a share does his job and scrutinizes intelligence issues
- 4:00Speaker 5: on behalf of Australia.
- 4:03Speaker 3: How can the leader of a democracy not even condemn
- 4:07Speaker 3: attending an event honoring a terrorist, he couldn't be more
- 4:12Speaker 3: of a wet lettice. Peter Dutton, much stronger, said there
- 4:17Speaker 3: was no place for terror supporters in our country.
- 4:21Speaker 6: I find it deeply disturbing. It's like somebody attending the
- 4:24Speaker 6: funeral of Adolf Hitler or somebody who had been responsible
- 4:28Speaker 6: for deaths of many people at listed terrorist organization, and
- 4:33Speaker 6: a person who is the head of a listed terrorist
- 4:36Speaker 6: organization is not something to be to be praised. If
- 4:39Speaker 6: we've got people here who hate our country, who hate
- 4:42Speaker 6: a part of our country, whether it's the Jewish community
- 4:45Speaker 6: or Hindus or people of Asian extraction, or because of
- 4:49Speaker 6: somebody's religion or no religion, they have no place in
- 4:52Speaker 6: our country.
- 4:54Speaker 3: And now we can't expose more Australians.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Who are at the funeral.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Here's Australian artist Tom Toby who wrote on social media
- 5:03Speaker 3: on the saddest day of my life, I am honored
- 5:06Speaker 3: to be a servant, a servant of the faithful, a
- 5:10Speaker 3: servant of the truth, a servant of the heroes, a
- 5:13Speaker 3: servant of history, but above all, a servant of the
- 5:16Speaker 3: profound legacy. Now, after Nazreala was killed in September, Tom
- 5:22Speaker 3: spoke at a rally in Sydney where he yelled long
- 5:26Speaker 3: live the Resistance.
- 5:28Speaker 7: Come and meet us and know what it is to
- 5:32Speaker 7: meet resistance. They are such an exemptlar group of people
- 5:42Speaker 7: because when they stand before that disgusting, the crepit, dermonic, zionist,
- 5:51Speaker 7: janacidal entity, they say to them, why why do you
- 5:59Speaker 7: want to fly blames?
- 6:02Speaker 5: Come and meet.
- 6:03Speaker 8: Us in.
- 6:08Speaker 3: I attempted to contact Tom today but I haven't as
- 6:11Speaker 3: yet heard back. Another Australian, Hussein, posted dozens of videos
- 6:17Speaker 3: all day from the funeral. He spoke about how the
- 6:20Speaker 3: Israeli planes were trying to scare him, and then he
- 6:23Speaker 3: posted as he was walking to the burial site later.
- 6:48Speaker 1: In Sydney in his spare time.
- 6:50Speaker 3: He's a kid's footy coach and he just seems like
- 6:53Speaker 3: a regular dat who apparently supports Hesbelah.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Now he is.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Another Australian known online as ass Sabra. He clearly wanted
- 7:03Speaker 3: me to know that he was at the Hasbla Leita's
- 7:05Speaker 3: funeral too, because overnight he tagged me in an Instagram post.
- 7:11Speaker 3: As you can see there, it says Hi Shari Markson
- 7:15Speaker 3: and he's standing next to another Australian who I told
- 7:17Speaker 3: you about last night is shak Zane And as you
- 7:21Speaker 3: can see in this next footage, he filmed Nazarella's funeral
- 7:25Speaker 3: and he shared it all online and after October seven
- 7:55Speaker 3: he shared videos on Twitter on x showing the cap
- 8:00Speaker 3: of israelis the taking of hostages by Himus with a
- 8:04Speaker 3: caption apartheid Israel. Now I should warn you this next
- 8:08Speaker 3: footage is distressing and that part we blurred was a
- 8:22Speaker 3: hostage who was captured and was.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Being dragged on the ground.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Now we've asked Tony Burke today what he's going to
- 8:29Speaker 3: do about all of this. Firstly, we asked him, does
- 8:33Speaker 3: he condemn this in the strongest terms? Is he asking
- 8:36Speaker 3: authorities to immediately investigate criminal charges given associating with Hesbelah
- 8:42Speaker 3: in some circumstances is a serious terror offense under the
- 8:46Speaker 3: Commonwealth Criminal Code. Also, whether these people will be allowed
- 8:50Speaker 3: back in the country. He needs to examine all the circumstances,
- 8:54Speaker 3: including their citizenship status, whether they're on a visa. Well,
- 9:00Speaker 3: you won't believe it, maybe you will. This is what
- 9:02Speaker 3: Tony Burk's office said to us in response to those questions.
- 9:05Speaker 1: We don't have anything.
- 9:06Speaker 3: To add to the comments made by Director General Burgess
- 9:11Speaker 3: last night at Senate estimates he couldn't even condemn Australians
- 9:18Speaker 3: mourning a terror leader, traveling halfway across the world to
- 9:22Speaker 3: attend the funeral of a terror leader. Well, this is
- 9:26Speaker 3: what a proper response looks like. This is from Shadow
- 9:28Speaker 3: Home Affairs Minister James Patterson, who said Tony Burke should
- 9:32Speaker 3: come out of hiding and do his job. If these
- 9:35Speaker 3: Nazuela funeral attendees were on visas, they should have already
- 9:39Speaker 3: been canceled to prevent them returning to Australia.
- 9:43Speaker 1: He can use.
- 9:43Speaker 3: Temporary exclusion orders to stop Australian citizens returning while they
- 9:47Speaker 3: are investigated for associated with a listed terror organization, but
- 9:53Speaker 3: that would require him to put the national interest before
- 9:56Speaker 3: his political interest, which he so far has been reluctant
- 10:00Speaker 3: to do.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Now.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Jewish leader Alex Rifchin spoke about the extent of Hesbela
- 10:07Speaker 3: support here in Australia when he was on with Chris
- 10:10Speaker 3: Kenny earlier.
- 10:12Speaker 8: None of this is a surprise because we've seen for
- 10:14Speaker 8: sixteen months people walking in the streets of our major
- 10:16Speaker 8: cities holding aloft the portraits of Hassan Israela. We've seen
- 10:20Speaker 8: mosques in Sydney holding ceremonies to ho In Israela and
- 10:23Speaker 8: other fallen Hesbala operatives. So we know that we have
- 10:27Speaker 8: this problem in our society. We know there are people
- 10:29Speaker 8: amongst us who are sympathetic to this ideology, who view
- 10:33Speaker 8: Hasbillah and Israela as being heroes to be emulated. And
- 10:36Speaker 8: that is a very dangerous and chilling thing that we're
- 10:38Speaker 8: dealing with.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Dangerous and chilling.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Indeed, we need the Australian government to take strong action
- 10:46Speaker 3: here to protect all Australians. It's appalling that these individuals
- 10:51Speaker 3: feel so emboldened that they can't only fly to attend
- 10:56Speaker 3: an event organized by a listed terror organization, but they
- 10:59Speaker 3: feel feel so comfortable posting about it online. It's because
- 11:04Speaker 3: this shocking conduct has been tolerated. It's because police never
- 11:09Speaker 3: take any action against terror supporters despite the laws available
- 11:15Speaker 3: to them. They've allowed support for terrorism, for the most
- 11:19Speaker 3: barbaric of crimes to become normalized in our country. The
- 11:25Speaker 3: attitude of Tony Burke and Anthony Albanesi simply isn't good enough.
- 11:30Speaker 3: They don't deserve to be the Prime Minister and Home
- 11:33Speaker 3: Affairs minister, charged with national security and social cohesion. Our
- 11:39Speaker 3: message must be unambiguous and uncompromising. It must be that
- 11:44Speaker 3: we have zero tolerance for terror and that those who
- 11:48Speaker 3: align themselves with the enemies of democracy, freedom and peace
- 11:52Speaker 3: have no place in our country or our society. Now,
- 12:01Speaker 3: as you can see at the corner of our TV screen,
- 12:04Speaker 3: we do have and we'll bring it back right now,
- 12:06Speaker 3: we've got live scenes from Tel Aviv. The funeral procession
- 12:11Speaker 3: for the Bibas family is underway. The actual eulogies the
- 12:15Speaker 3: ceremony will begin at eight thirty pm our time, that's
- 12:19Speaker 3: eleven thirty in Israel, and when it does, we will
- 12:22Speaker 3: cross straight to it.
- 12:24Speaker 1: But now let's have a look at the mud.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Slinging that we've seen take place today. The infamous Labor
- 12:31Speaker 3: Dought unit is in full swing against Peter Dutton. Multiple
- 12:35Speaker 3: reports have emerged in media outlets scrutinizing Dutton's legal purchase
- 12:41Speaker 3: of shares seventeen years ago, his property purchases too. Now
- 12:46Speaker 3: the Prime Minister today pretended he had nothing to do
- 12:49Speaker 3: with any of this.
- 12:52Speaker 9: Prime Minister, what's wrong with Dutton making money out of property?
- 12:54Speaker 9: Haven't you as well?
- 12:56Speaker 5: I made no comment about Peter Dutton's uh matters. That's
- 13:01Speaker 5: the matter for him.
- 13:02Speaker 6: Prime Minister immicated today done quite an extensive property investment.
- 13:07Speaker 9: Does his use of the use of the trust fund
- 13:10Speaker 9: the past the pop test.
- 13:11Speaker 5: It's a matter for Peter Dutton.
- 13:15Speaker 3: But this denial is curious because back on Friday, when
- 13:19Speaker 3: Alban Easy was questioned about whether Heat negatively geared he's
- 13:23Speaker 3: Copa Cabana holiday house, well, he suggested the journalist examine
- 13:28Speaker 3: Dutton's property portfolio.
- 13:31Speaker 10: You've got a lot of flack, possibly unfairly so on
- 13:36Speaker 10: buying a lovely new home in Copa, Goamana. I've never
- 13:39Speaker 10: heard you explain before.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Are you negatively gearing it?
- 13:45Speaker 5: Seriously? I'll swap my property portfolio with Peters.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:53Speaker 3: So it doesn't really stack up that the Prime Minister
- 13:55Speaker 3: now isn't behind this attack on Dutton's properties and wealth,
- 13:59Speaker 3: given he literally raised it with a journalist while he
- 14:03Speaker 3: was being filmed on Friday, and then suddenly all of
- 14:06Speaker 3: these stories have appeared this week. Peter Dutton today, for
- 14:10Speaker 3: what it's worth, he defended his record.
- 14:13Speaker 6: I mean they've trowled through every transaction of my life,
- 14:17Speaker 6: for my entire adult life, and they've come up with
- 14:21Speaker 6: the fact that we've bought and sold properties.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Yet labor ministers use the revelations to claim Peter Dutton
- 14:28Speaker 3: didn't understand cost of living pressures.
- 14:32Speaker 11: He should have declared these property transactions as he's required
- 14:35Speaker 11: to do as a member of Parliament. But secondly, I
- 14:39Speaker 11: think it gives some insight into why he doesn't think
- 14:42Speaker 11: that it's important that governments invest in homes. He's been
- 14:45Speaker 11: able to amass a property empire of himself, and good
- 14:47Speaker 11: luck to him, he's bought and sold homes. But I
- 14:49Speaker 11: don't think that he should be standing in the way
- 14:51Speaker 11: and threatening to cut a fund that is actually delivering
- 14:54Speaker 11: homes for essential workers, for women fleeing domestic violence, for veterans.
- 14:58Speaker 11: They're the people who need homes, people like Peter Dutton
- 15:00Speaker 11: and me.
- 15:02Speaker 3: This is typical labor playbook. Their dirt unit is the
- 15:06Speaker 3: best in the business. And I can tell you that
- 15:09Speaker 3: as a former Press Gallery political editor. Peter Dutton slammed
- 15:14Speaker 3: the Prime Minister over these dirty tactics.
- 15:18Speaker 6: The Prime Minister's office is shopping around dirt sheets at
- 15:21Speaker 6: the moment, transactions that go back to when I was
- 15:24Speaker 6: twenty years of age, that much is obvious, and I
- 15:27Speaker 6: think the Prime Minister's office has tried to shop this
- 15:29Speaker 6: story to a dozen journalists. One has picked it up
- 15:33Speaker 6: and the others have seen fit not to. I think
- 15:35Speaker 6: it reflects poorly on the Prime Minister and the desperation
- 15:38Speaker 6: that he's in at the moment.
- 15:41Speaker 3: The election campaign hasn't even officially begun, but we've already
- 15:45Speaker 3: seen Alberizi roll out many scare the same scare campaign
- 15:49Speaker 3: from the twenty sixteen election, and now a grubby attack
- 15:52Speaker 3: on Peter Dutton's homes.
- 15:55Speaker 1: And by the.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Way, we still don't have the answer on where the
- 15:58Speaker 3: Albanesi has negatively geared his properties. That's the question that
- 16:02Speaker 3: kicked all of this off after all. All right, we're
- 16:11Speaker 3: on standby to take you to the Bibas family funeral.
- 16:14Speaker 3: But now let's bring in former Victorian Liberal Party president
- 16:17Speaker 3: Michael Kroeger and Quillette founder Claire Lehman. Welcome to you both,
- 16:23Speaker 3: and let's start with this scare campaign on Dutton's property portfolio.
- 16:27Speaker 3: I mean, Michael Kroger, do you think, from your extensive
- 16:31Speaker 3: experience in politics, these sort of tactics work with voters?
- 16:37Speaker 12: Well, they can work if it forces the resignation of
- 16:41Speaker 12: the political figure and involved. But they've fired a blank
- 16:45Speaker 12: so far. Peter Creedlin on her shows answered the question
- 16:48Speaker 12: about the share acquisitions, and you know, you send someone
- 16:51Speaker 12: like Murray, what in Murray's never had a job in
- 16:55Speaker 12: the industry. Mary's been a staffer and and a politician
- 17:00Speaker 12: and a lawyer. Doesn't seem to understand that the Dutton family,
- 17:03Speaker 12: Peter Dutton and his father were in the construction business. Well, Murray,
- 17:06Speaker 12: what you do in the construction business is you buy
- 17:08Speaker 12: a block of land, if you've got a building license,
- 17:11Speaker 12: you build a house. You then on sell it and
- 17:13Speaker 12: you make a profit. You go onto the next one.
- 17:14Speaker 12: You do that multiple times. You might, as the Duttons did,
- 17:17Speaker 12: I gather buy an old Chilker center land in buildings
- 17:21Speaker 12: or a house renovated into a childcer center, on sell it,
- 17:24Speaker 12: and you do that for as many times as you can.
- 17:26Speaker 12: That's what people do in the construction industry. Builders build
- 17:29Speaker 12: homes and they sell them. They buy the block of land,
- 17:31Speaker 12: it's ub divide it, they build a house and sell it.
- 17:34Speaker 12: So he's sort of attacking, you know, the fact that
- 17:38Speaker 12: the Duttons were in business in the building industry. So
- 17:40Speaker 12: anyone in the building construction industry looking at this is
- 17:43Speaker 12: absolutely laughing at Murray Watt because it just shows you
- 17:46Speaker 12: he's got no idea how industry works. But look at
- 17:49Speaker 12: another level, this is not working because people can't pay
- 17:53Speaker 12: their mortgages, they can't buy food, right, That's how bad
- 17:55Speaker 12: things are in Australia today. What they want from albo
- 17:58Speaker 12: is what is his grand and for a second term
- 18:01Speaker 12: and all they see is this much breaking by Murray Watt.
- 18:04Speaker 12: It's not helping Olbot. No, it makes it very clear
- 18:07Speaker 12: to people at the Cupboins Bear.
- 18:09Speaker 1: It's a good point.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Albanezy hasn't outlined any vision or agenda for his second term.
- 18:16Speaker 1: But you know, Claire back to this, it strikes me that.
- 18:20Speaker 3: It's a little bit early for the dirt unit to
- 18:23Speaker 3: kick off. We're not officially in the election campaign yet.
- 18:26Speaker 13: It is a little bit early.
- 18:28Speaker 14: But I would just push back on some of the
- 18:30Speaker 14: comments that have been shared tonight and argue that it
- 18:34Speaker 14: is a problem for the Liberal Party. It's a problem
- 18:36Speaker 14: because they have issues attracting young people and we all
- 18:40Speaker 14: know the statistics now, you know in the nineteen eighties,
- 18:45Speaker 14: for example, you would need three times the median wage.
- 18:49Speaker 13: The median salary to afford a median home now.
- 18:51Speaker 14: It's something like thirteen times, So people on a median
- 18:54Speaker 14: wage in Sydney cannot afford a median home. And you're
- 18:59Speaker 14: getting to the point where young people of a younger
- 19:03Speaker 14: generation have to say for a deposit their whole you know,
- 19:07Speaker 14: for take many years to say for a deposit.
- 19:11Speaker 13: Then when they.
- 19:11Speaker 14: Earn enough to service a mortgage, they're in their forties,
- 19:15Speaker 14: they go to the bank.
- 19:15Speaker 13: They're too old for a loan.
- 19:17Speaker 14: So we're locking our society has locked out an entire
- 19:20Speaker 14: generation from home ownership. That's a huge problem for conservatives.
- 19:26Speaker 14: And the issue is simply it's not that Peter Dutton
- 19:29Speaker 14: has a property portfolio. It's that the liberals need to
- 19:32Speaker 14: differentiate themselves from labor when it comes to the housing issue.
- 19:37Speaker 13: It's not rocket science. We know how to fix this problem.
- 19:40Speaker 14: They need to say we're going to stem migration and
- 19:43Speaker 14: we're going to increase supply, and they need to take
- 19:46Speaker 14: those two things very seriously and prosecute a case for that.
- 19:50Speaker 14: If they don't, young people just won't engage.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I think housing affordability is an issue for both
- 19:55Speaker 3: of the major parties. And you know Albinezy's purchase of
- 19:59Speaker 3: the copagavan a man of course, Well, if voters were struggling,
- 20:03Speaker 3: they'd probably hold that against him as well.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Now, let's have a look at this issue of.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Cherry before you do.
- 20:09Speaker 12: Before you do to answer, clear, the Dutton's were building
- 20:11Speaker 12: houses and building charca centers. Clear they weren't detracting from
- 20:17Speaker 12: the property supply the house and supply, they were adding
- 20:20Speaker 12: to it.
- 20:20Speaker 13: Oh yeah, this is not.
- 20:22Speaker 14: A personal thing against Dutton. I'm not suggesting Dutton has
- 20:26Speaker 14: done anything wrong. It's just that the Liberal party itself
- 20:29Speaker 14: needs to have stronger policy, a stronger policy framework to
- 20:34Speaker 14: tackle this issue. I mean the person to look at
- 20:37Speaker 14: is Pierre Poulivert in Canada. He's the only conservative leader
- 20:41Speaker 14: in the world who is popular with young people. And
- 20:45Speaker 14: he's popular with young people because he's targeting housing as
- 20:48Speaker 14: the number one issue.
- 20:50Speaker 3: And I guess the opposition is doing that, as you say,
- 20:53Speaker 3: through saying we're going to bring down immigration levels to
- 20:56Speaker 3: take the pressure off that's of housing. Yeah, all right,
- 20:59Speaker 3: I want to get to this issue because it's been
- 21:01Speaker 3: such a shocking revelation today. Albanese under fire for misleading
- 21:06Speaker 3: the public when he claimed incorrectly that China had given
- 21:11Speaker 3: notice to Australia of their warship exercises. Have a look
- 21:14Speaker 3: at Albanese's earlier inaccurate claim.
- 21:19Speaker 5: Australian ships travel to the South China Sea and where
- 21:24Speaker 5: that is that the hints there in the name very clearly,
- 21:29Speaker 5: and we participate in those activities, including our navy. There
- 21:34Speaker 5: was notice given. We have made it clear that we
- 21:39Speaker 5: think more notice should have been given.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Now Albanzi has misled the public on this and we
- 21:49Speaker 3: know that because.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Today incented estimates.
- 21:51Speaker 3: It was revealed that air safety authorities were alerted to
- 21:54Speaker 3: the exercise thirty minutes after they began, thirty minutes after
- 21:59Speaker 3: and that was only thanks to a Virgin pilot.
- 22:02Speaker 15: Have a look, the only way you knew about this
- 22:06Speaker 15: was because a Virgin pilot heard about it and called
- 22:10Speaker 15: in it correct Virgin plan.
- 22:18Speaker 3: All right, Well, Michael Kroger, you know this is clearly
- 22:22Speaker 3: the Prime Minister. He's been exposed for misleading the public.
- 22:27Speaker 12: Look, Sharlie, let's be honest about Alboat. To make a
- 22:30Speaker 12: point we've made before, he's not up to this job.
- 22:34Speaker 12: I mean, I've known most of the Prime ministers in
- 22:37Speaker 12: this country dating back to the nineteen seventies. In nearly
- 22:41Speaker 12: every case, they were highly gifted, highly intelligent people, a
- 22:43Speaker 12: number of Rhodes Scholars, Oxford graduates, very clever people.
- 22:47Speaker 1: You have to be.
- 22:48Speaker 12: Smart to be prime minister because you've got to be
- 22:49Speaker 12: across one hundred different issues on any given day. Albow's
- 22:54Speaker 12: never been a detailed person. He wasn't across the detail.
- 22:57Speaker 12: He just gave an answer that he came into his
- 22:59Speaker 12: head at the time that oh, there was proper warning,
- 23:01Speaker 12: because he thinks there's warning, so that's what he knows.
- 23:05Speaker 12: So he says, oh, they gave us warning, thinking that's
- 23:07Speaker 12: what happened. He didn't know that they hadn't given warning.
- 23:10Speaker 2: He had no idea.
- 23:11Speaker 12: He wasn't across the detail in the slightest until it's
- 23:14Speaker 12: been revealed today. Good old Virgin helped us out. So
- 23:18Speaker 12: did he deliberately mislead? The hard headed people would say,
- 23:22Speaker 12: yes he did. It's terrible, blah blah blah. Look what
- 23:25Speaker 12: I think. I think he had no idea what he
- 23:27Speaker 12: was talking about. As is the case with a lot
- 23:29Speaker 12: of these issues, he just hasn't got the intellectual capacity
- 23:33Speaker 12: to be across the detail. I'm sorry about that, but
- 23:35Speaker 12: that's the fact of the matter, Sharry.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Just before I get Clare's response, I just want to
- 23:40Speaker 3: explain to everyone what you're seeing on your screen. Now,
- 23:42Speaker 3: maybe we can pull up the Tel Aviv footage in
- 23:45Speaker 3: full screen. So tens of thousands of Israelis have lined
- 23:49Speaker 3: the streets all the way across Israel to pay their
- 23:52Speaker 3: respect as the funeral procession goes past. So it is
- 23:57Speaker 3: now the funeral procession is nearing approach the Kibboltz near Oz.
- 24:02Speaker 3: Kibboltz near Oz, that's where the Bibas family we're from.
- 24:06Speaker 3: That is where the funeral will be. It is a
- 24:08Speaker 3: private funeral, but it's going to be broadcast live. So
- 24:11Speaker 3: right across Israel, tens and tens, maybe even hundreds of
- 24:15Speaker 3: thousands of Israelis have gathered to pay their respects as
- 24:18Speaker 3: the procession passes. So we're looking at some of those
- 24:22Speaker 3: crowds now the footage before. Obviously Israelis were leaving as
- 24:26Speaker 3: the vehicles had already passed. The eulogies are on track
- 24:30Speaker 3: to start in about eight thirty after they do Yarden,
- 24:34Speaker 3: it will be the first time we hear from Yarden,
- 24:37Speaker 3: the father and husband of Shiri and baby Kafir and Ril,
- 24:41Speaker 3: and it will be in Hebrew, but we'll bring it
- 24:44Speaker 3: up and we'll try to tell you what he's saying
- 24:47Speaker 3: as best as we can.
- 24:49Speaker 1: All Right, A very quick response now.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Claire, to this issue of Albinezi misleading the public over that.
- 24:56Speaker 13: It's part of a pattern, isn't it.
- 24:58Speaker 14: Albo has a habit of amising or outright denying threats
- 25:03Speaker 14: not just to our national security but our internal social cohesion.
- 25:08Speaker 14: It's in the too hard basket, I think for him,
- 25:10Speaker 14: he's shown he doesn't have the spine to stand up
- 25:15Speaker 14: against those who would intimidate us and threaten us, but
- 25:20Speaker 14: also provide reassurance to the Australian public that we're in
- 25:25Speaker 14: safe hands.
- 25:25Speaker 13: He's just failed that repeatedly.
- 25:28Speaker 3: All Right, Claire Leeman, Michael Kroger, thank you both very
- 25:31Speaker 3: much for your time today. Thank you, k all Right,
- 25:35Speaker 3: and let's bring in Now we're going to return to
- 25:37Speaker 3: the exclusive that I had tonight and last night about
- 25:40Speaker 3: Australians attending the funeral of Terra le To Hassan Nasraala,
- 25:44Speaker 3: and let's bring in our former Australian Federal Police Detective
- 25:47Speaker 3: Superintendent and counter terrorism expert David Craig.
- 25:51Speaker 1: David, thank you very much for your time.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Firstly, do you think Home Affairs and Borderforce should have
- 25:57Speaker 3: stopped these individuals traveling to Lebanon for the funeral given
- 26:02Speaker 3: that some were known to authorities?
- 26:05Speaker 16: Of course, Shari, the answer to that can only be
- 26:07Speaker 16: of course, there are orders where we could have prevented
- 26:11Speaker 16: their travel right up the front. The only reason that
- 26:13Speaker 16: it didn't happen, I would expect is that we didn't
- 26:15Speaker 16: have active intelligence reporting quickly at the time. Regardless, the
- 26:22Speaker 16: horse has bolted. As far as I'm leaving the country,
- 26:25Speaker 16: where we need to exert our pressure now, Shari is
- 26:28Speaker 16: on them returning. If there was a lack of intelligence
- 26:30Speaker 16: to stop them leaving Australia, we now have an abundance
- 26:33Speaker 16: of these people associating with terrorists and advocating for terrorism.
- 26:38Speaker 16: By attending that funeral, we should be able to prevent them,
- 26:41Speaker 16: regardless of their status, from coming back to Australia.
- 26:45Speaker 3: And so if they are Australian citizens, ultimately they have
- 26:50Speaker 3: to be allowed to return. But Tony Burke does have
- 26:53Speaker 3: the power to temporarily stop them from returning while the
- 26:56Speaker 3: investigations are underway.
- 27:00Speaker 16: That's correct. A temporary exclusion what it can be given,
- 27:02Speaker 16: and it can keep an Australian citizen that's over fourteen
- 27:05Speaker 16: years of age outside Australia for up to two years.
- 27:09Speaker 16: And when we do, if they are successful in getting
- 27:12Speaker 16: a return permit, then we can put on conditions that
- 27:16Speaker 16: satisfy and mitigate the threat to the community as they
- 27:19Speaker 16: come back in. That's what should be happening here. I
- 27:22Speaker 16: noticed yesterday Mike Burgess, the Director General of Asia, was
- 27:26Speaker 16: saying that in regard to threats to life, anti Semitism
- 27:31Speaker 16: was his agency's highest priority. Now at this funeral, we
- 27:35Speaker 16: had tens of thousands of people, including I suspect the
- 27:39Speaker 16: Australians chanting death to Israel. I would like to see
- 27:43Speaker 16: the Director General's actions be as good as his words.
- 27:47Speaker 3: Meanwhile, we also heard the ASIO bus Mike Burgess today
- 27:50Speaker 3: tell a Senate committee, under questioning from James Patterson, that
- 27:54Speaker 3: anti Samitism is Australia's top threat.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Have a look at this.
- 27:59Speaker 15: What's your senis about the increase in the level of
- 28:02Speaker 15: antisemitism right now?
- 28:04Speaker 4: In terms of my organization, our threats are faced, threats
- 28:07Speaker 4: to life, threats to way of life, in terms of
- 28:09Speaker 4: threats to life. It's my agency's number one priority because
- 28:12Speaker 4: of the weight of incidents we're seeing play out in
- 28:15Speaker 4: this country.
- 28:15Speaker 13: Well, when would you've ever said before that a form
- 28:18Speaker 13: of racism was the number one concern for Asier.
- 28:22Speaker 4: I don't believe we've done that in.
- 28:23Speaker 13: A history, David.
- 28:26Speaker 3: You know thatout wording that this is the greatest threat
- 28:29Speaker 3: to life, it's truly terrifying.
- 28:31Speaker 1: What does he mean by this?
- 28:34Speaker 9: What he means is that the loss of life is expected,
- 28:37Speaker 9: and we are sitting at a terrorism level of probable,
- 28:39Speaker 9: which means more than a fifty percent chance over the
- 28:42Speaker 9: next twelve months where will be a terrorist attack, there
- 28:46Speaker 9: will be an antisemitic attack ending in the loss of life.
- 28:49Speaker 9: That's what Burgess is talking about.
- 28:51Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, David Craig really appreciate your time. So
- 28:56Speaker 3: we're going to take a quick break because we're just
- 28:58Speaker 3: minutes away from the start of Sheery Aril and Kafir
- 29:00Speaker 3: Bibas's funeral in Israel.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Will cross live to the eulogies.
- 29:04Speaker 3: I'm also going to bring you that exclusive a bit
- 29:06Speaker 3: later on the Bibas family hitting back at Albansi for
- 29:10Speaker 3: his callous.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Remarks that's coming up. Welcome back.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Okay, we're still on standby for the eulogies to begin,
- 29:21Speaker 3: and in the meantime as we wait, we're going to
- 29:23Speaker 3: keep the vision up there on the screen. But I'm
- 29:26Speaker 3: going to tell you about how angry the Bibas family
- 29:29Speaker 3: are at alban Eazi now. On Monday night, on the show,
- 29:33Speaker 3: I revealed that Albanisi didn't know anything about the grotesque
- 29:36Speaker 3: coffin display where Palestinians celebrated on stage around the coffins
- 29:41Speaker 3: of baby Kafir and Ril.
- 29:44Speaker 5: It is shocking as worthy of condemnation, which is why
- 29:48Speaker 5: they should have no role in the future.
- 29:50Speaker 10: But on a human level, to see that footage and
- 29:53Speaker 10: the spectacle that they put on, what was.
- 29:55Speaker 5: Your reaction, Well, I haven't seen it, Sam, with respect,
- 29:59Speaker 5: but but you know this is the atroses that have
- 30:04Speaker 5: occurred from October seven, quite rightly, have been condemned by
- 30:11Speaker 5: everyone across all of certainly the major political parties, and
- 30:18Speaker 5: you know it's horrific what people have gone through.
- 30:25Speaker 3: So the Bibass family have shared their fury at Albanezi
- 30:28Speaker 3: over his remarks, which I played for in my editorial
- 30:31Speaker 3: on Monday night. Jarden's aunt Mikhal, She's lived in Australia
- 30:36Speaker 3: for many years. She's of course in Israel at the moment.
- 30:39Speaker 3: It has been for weeks now. She wrote a Facebook
- 30:42Speaker 3: post that she sent to me this morning and gave
- 30:45Speaker 3: me permission to share, and she said she was ashamed
- 30:49Speaker 3: to be an Australian.
- 30:50Speaker 1: She said.
- 30:51Speaker 3: Albanezi claimed he hadn't seen the horrific footage of the
- 30:54Speaker 3: coffins of our babies Ariel and Kafir being grotesquely paraded,
- 31:00Speaker 3: all the appalling mistake made with Shiri's remains.
- 31:03Speaker 1: Even when confronted.
- 31:05Speaker 3: He failed to articulate how he feels about it. He
- 31:08Speaker 3: acknowledges that Hermas is a terror organization. Yet this government
- 31:12Speaker 3: and in particular Penny One, continues to direct our tax
- 31:15Speaker 3: dollars to Hermas Unra, despite undeniable evidence of their close ties.
- 31:21Speaker 3: The government must go. The upcoming elections cannot come soon enough.
- 31:26Speaker 3: That is from the Bibas family. From Yarden's aunt Michal,
- 31:31Speaker 3: She also spoke about her devastation. She said, while we
- 31:35Speaker 3: celebrate the release of my beloved nephew Yard and Bibbas,
- 31:38Speaker 3: who was held hostage by these monsters, our joy is
- 31:42Speaker 3: overshadowed by unimaginable grief for the brutal, gruesome murder of
- 31:47Speaker 3: Yarden's family, Shiri Riel and baby Kafir at the hands
- 31:52Speaker 3: of Hermas, a terror organization elected and supported by Gazans.
- 31:57Speaker 3: As the footage from before during an hour after October
- 32:00Speaker 3: seven makes painfully clear, she says, I will never forget
- 32:05Speaker 3: and never forgive those who harmed my family and my people,
- 32:09Speaker 3: the monsters who carried out these atrocities, those who supported them,
- 32:13Speaker 3: and those who had the power to act but chose
- 32:16Speaker 3: to stay silent in the face of this pure evil.
- 32:25Speaker 3: Now very strong words, extremely strong words. Therefrom an aunt,
- 32:30Speaker 3: who is hurting right now, she is at that funeral.
- 32:33Speaker 3: She sent that message to me this morning, thanking us
- 32:36Speaker 3: for our coverage, which obviously she does not need to do.
- 32:39Speaker 3: All of our hearts are with the Bibas family. We
- 32:42Speaker 3: will forever love baby Kafir, Ariel and Shurian. We're looking
- 32:46Speaker 3: at the screen right now, waiting for the eulogy to begin.
- 32:49Speaker 3: As these live pictures are coming through, you can see
- 32:52Speaker 3: the Israelis turning out in the masses.
- 32:56Speaker 1: This is one of the darkest.
- 32:58Speaker 3: Days in Israel's history, burying a nine month old baby, Ariel,
- 33:04Speaker 3: the four year old brother. We think now that we're
- 33:07Speaker 3: looking at the funeral procession, the coffins of baby Kafir
- 33:11Speaker 3: and Ariel and Shiri are now going through the streets
- 33:16Speaker 3: on their way to the funeral at their kibbutz, their
- 33:20Speaker 3: home where they were kidnapped from their beds in their pajamas.
- 33:25Speaker 1: A nine month old.
- 33:26Speaker 3: Baby murdered by Palestinian terrorists. A month later when he
- 33:33Speaker 3: was just ten months old. His four year old brother
- 33:36Speaker 3: two Kafir never got to his first birthday. He never
- 33:40Speaker 3: made it to his first birthday. And now today Israel
- 33:45Speaker 3: is out showing solidarity with the trauma and devastation of
- 33:49Speaker 3: this family, and the whole world is watching. Every rational,
- 33:54Speaker 3: good hearted person in the world. Our hearts are with
- 33:57Speaker 3: the Bibas family right now. They're with the Yarden father
- 34:01Speaker 3: and husband who is right now about to have the
- 34:05Speaker 3: worst moment in his life burying.
- 34:07Speaker 1: His wife and his two little baby boys.
- 34:11Speaker 3: Absolutely senseless, horrible, cruel murder.
- 34:16Speaker 1: There's no reason for it.
- 34:17Speaker 3: And you think about how their kidnapping was celebrated by Palestinians,
- 34:26Speaker 3: civilians and Hamas supporters in Gaza. This is the procession.
- 34:31Speaker 3: We're seeing that now that tens of thousands of Israelis
- 34:35Speaker 3: have come out to pay their respects, and right now
- 34:39Speaker 3: this is hostage Square in Tel Aviv. A lot of
- 34:42Speaker 3: people gathered around the screens because while the funeral is private,
- 34:45Speaker 3: it will be broadcast live. It will be in Hebrew.
- 34:50Speaker 3: I'm hearing that it is running late at this point
- 34:53Speaker 3: in time, and where we just saw their live pictures
- 34:55Speaker 3: of the cars as they make their way through this. Okay,
- 35:00Speaker 3: we're going to come back to this, but let's bring
- 35:02Speaker 3: in now for some reaction and what will keep those
- 35:04Speaker 3: live pictures on the screen. Let's bring in our liberal
- 35:08Speaker 3: national senator James McGrath. James, what's your reaction to this?
- 35:13Speaker 3: What we're seeing right now? Israel out in force burying
- 35:19Speaker 3: a baby, a child, a loving mother, James McGrath, burying
- 35:27Speaker 3: a mum.
- 35:28Speaker 2: And two children who were murdered. All of Israel, but
- 35:34Speaker 2: all of us who believe in a civilized society. Are
- 35:39Speaker 2: it just so down and so sad at the moment
- 35:42Speaker 2: because the Bibas family represent the hatred that has been
- 35:48Speaker 2: visited upon Israel by Hamas and all the other terrorist
- 35:53Speaker 2: groups and terror states who want to destroy that country
- 35:57Speaker 2: and the civilizations that lie within Israel. And that's why
- 36:01Speaker 2: Australia must stand with Israel. And that's why Australians must
- 36:05Speaker 2: stand with the Bibbers family, and that's why we must
- 36:09Speaker 2: bring them all home because there are still hostages being
- 36:12Speaker 2: held by a mus And this is what I think
- 36:15Speaker 2: some Australians have forgotten about, is that there are still
- 36:21Speaker 2: people being held by this terrorist organization. So it is
- 36:26Speaker 2: a very very sad day. But also Shari, it's why
- 36:29Speaker 2: we must make a stand against anti Semitism. This is
- 36:33Speaker 2: why Australians must come together and shout at those people
- 36:38Speaker 2: who allow anti Semitism to grow.
- 36:42Speaker 3: And you just think about the support that this movement
- 36:45Speaker 3: James has had in the west On University campuses, at
- 36:49Speaker 3: international institutions, United Nations, the push even by our own
- 36:54Speaker 3: Foreign minister to recognize Palestinian statehood at the United Nations,
- 36:58Speaker 3: despite the fact that did this, that did this to
- 37:03Speaker 3: baby Kafir and Ril and Sheerry, despite the fact they
- 37:06Speaker 3: are still the governing body in Gaza. And you just
- 37:10Speaker 3: wonder where all sense, reason, rationality and morality has gone
- 37:15Speaker 3: in the world.
- 37:17Speaker 1: What do you think about this?
- 37:21Speaker 2: It has left the building in a way because you
- 37:24Speaker 2: have politicians in Australia, and you have political parties in Australia,
- 37:29Speaker 2: and I am going to call out the Greens political
- 37:32Speaker 2: party who are, in my view, a racist and anti
- 37:35Speaker 2: Semitic party, a party who support the BDS movement, a
- 37:42Speaker 2: party who refused to support the definition of anti Semitisms
- 37:49Speaker 2: as written and as agreed by over thirty countries, including Australia,
- 37:54Speaker 2: a bipartisan approach the definition of anti Semitism. The Greens
- 37:58Speaker 2: are the only party in this st Israelia have refused
- 38:01Speaker 2: to accept that definition of anti Semitism. So it's my job,
- 38:05Speaker 2: and it's your job, and it's everybody watching this program
- 38:08Speaker 2: and everybody who goes onto my social media channels and
- 38:12Speaker 2: looks at when we call out the Greens, and we
- 38:14Speaker 2: call out these people who attack Israel and attack a
- 38:19Speaker 2: fellow liberal democracy and fail to attack mus and fail
- 38:25Speaker 2: to call for the return of all hostages.
- 38:29Speaker 3: Indeed, and you know, we often hear from the likes
- 38:33Speaker 3: of certainly the Greens, but even from Albanezi government ministers.
- 38:36Speaker 3: You hear more often criticism of Israel than you do
- 38:40Speaker 3: the demand for the hostages to be returned. I mean,
- 38:43Speaker 3: how often has any Albanezi government minister spoken about the
- 38:46Speaker 3: Bibast family. Now, just to update you on what's going
- 38:49Speaker 3: on at the moment, the procession is heading towards southern
- 38:53Speaker 3: Israel to Kibbutz near Oz.
- 38:55Speaker 1: It's on its way. It is running late.
- 38:58Speaker 3: The eulogies were meant to begin at eleven thirty in
- 39:01Speaker 3: the morning Israel time, which is eight thirty pm Our time, but.
- 39:04Speaker 1: It is running late.
- 39:06Speaker 3: I can also tell you the Knesset, that's the Israeli Parliament,
- 39:09Speaker 3: has just held a minute silence for the Bibass family.
- 39:13Speaker 3: Masses tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of Israelis
- 39:16Speaker 3: have turned out to pay their respect to The footage
- 39:19Speaker 3: you're looking at now live is from Hostage Square.
- 39:23Speaker 1: In Tel Aviv. You might be able to hear the
- 39:25Speaker 1: music as.
- 39:25Speaker 3: Well, where Israelis are waiting for the.
- 39:28Speaker 1: Start of this funeral.
- 39:29Speaker 3: Because this family, the Bibast family, has captured the hearts
- 39:34Speaker 3: of all Israelis and many of us around the world
- 39:38Speaker 3: as well. All we wanted to see, all we were
- 39:41Speaker 3: praying for, is to see the safe return of baby
- 39:46Speaker 3: Kafir and Baby Ariel and their mother Shiri and James,
- 39:51Speaker 3: for me, the images of and as a mother myself,
- 39:55Speaker 3: the images of Shiri as she tried to hold and
- 39:59Speaker 3: protect her children. She held them close to her chest,
- 40:03Speaker 3: baby Kafir and Ariel, as she was being shuffled and
- 40:06Speaker 3: pulled around.
- 40:07Speaker 1: By terrorists, by.
- 40:09Speaker 3: Palestinian terrorists and civilians who kidnapped her. And she was
- 40:13Speaker 3: just in the greatest of distress trying to protect her babies.
- 40:17Speaker 1: And you just can't bear.
- 40:19Speaker 3: We now know, just in the past few days, we've
- 40:21Speaker 3: learned just how brutal and violent their murders were.
- 40:26Speaker 1: That they were murdered by bare hands.
- 40:28Speaker 3: That is what Yarden has given permission for the world
- 40:31Speaker 3: to know, that they were.
- 40:32Speaker 1: Murdered violently by bare hands.
- 40:36Speaker 3: And it doesn't get worse than this, James, and now
- 40:40Speaker 3: here we are about to watch their funeral, about to
- 40:43Speaker 3: watch these beautiful children be.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Laid to rest.
- 40:48Speaker 2: It doesn't get worse then seeing two young children who
- 40:53Speaker 2: have been murdered. This is why sometimes in politics and
- 40:57Speaker 2: life there is a moral clarity, is a difference between
- 41:01Speaker 2: light and darkness. And what happened on Israel on the
- 41:05Speaker 2: seventh October was the darkest of days, but it is
- 41:10Speaker 2: it is a wake up call to all of us
- 41:12Speaker 2: to make sure that we must defend our fellow citizens,
- 41:16Speaker 2: our fellow Jewish citizens in Australia and understand that there
- 41:20Speaker 2: was a choice to be made between lightness and dark
- 41:24Speaker 2: between this coming election. And I don't want to politicize
- 41:26Speaker 2: what's going on in Israel at the moment, but in
- 41:29Speaker 2: Australia there is a fight over the moral clarity of
- 41:32Speaker 2: the future direction of this country. The weak leadership of
- 41:36Speaker 2: Anthony Albanezi, who has allowed anti Semitism to become such
- 41:41Speaker 2: a serious security issue in this country, or someone like
- 41:44Speaker 2: Peter Dutton, Will Will who will strengthen our resolve and
- 41:48Speaker 2: stand up for Jewish Australians.
- 41:51Speaker 3: The contrast, the contrast couldn't be greater.
- 41:55Speaker 1: James McGrath, thank you very much for your time.
- 41:57Speaker 3: We're going to leave it there because we're going to
- 41:59Speaker 3: cross now to Nicole Zedek from twenty four in Israel.
- 42:05Speaker 3: We're going to bring Nicole Zedek in I twenty four
- 42:07Speaker 3: it Israel. Nicole, thank you very much for your time. Now,
- 42:10Speaker 3: President Isaac Herzog has just released a statement. We're waiting
- 42:15Speaker 3: for the funeral to begin of the Bibas family. Isaac
- 42:17Speaker 3: Herzog has just released a statement very moving. He says,
- 42:21Speaker 3: the entire country and entire people are in a time
- 42:24Speaker 3: of mourning. He says, all of us and entire people
- 42:28Speaker 3: with broken hearts are accompanying them to eternal rest. This
- 42:32Speaker 3: is not how we prayed for them to return to us.
- 42:35Speaker 3: In our mind's eye, we saw them returning, shining with
- 42:38Speaker 3: their golden heads, with the lively, playful gaze that shine
- 42:41Speaker 3: in their little eyes.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Nicole, Israel is grieving today.
- 42:47Speaker 17: Israel is certainly grieving today. It's an unofficial day of mourning.
- 42:51Speaker 17: As you see on the screen, tens of thousands of
- 42:53Speaker 17: people who have been taking to the streets following this
- 42:56Speaker 17: funeral procession as it made its way from central Israel
- 43:00Speaker 17: towards southern Israel, where it's still making its way. And
- 43:02Speaker 17: one of the reasons that it was delayed was because
- 43:05Speaker 17: of the masses of people that followed this funeral procession
- 43:09Speaker 17: every step of the way to give one final goodbye
- 43:12Speaker 17: to the Bevis family. And there's a very difficult day
- 43:15Speaker 17: here in Israel. As you see, if not only the
- 43:18Speaker 17: wave and sea of Israeli fags, but those orange balloons
- 43:22Speaker 17: that have also become a symbol of those two little
- 43:25Speaker 17: red headed boys and their mother Sharri as well, and
- 43:28Speaker 17: so it's incredibly difficult. But also this can provide some
- 43:33Speaker 17: sort of closure for many of the Israeli public, finally
- 43:36Speaker 17: seeing them lay dressed after more than five hundred days
- 43:40Speaker 17: in terror captivity. But many of the family members and
- 43:43Speaker 17: many of the Israeli publics say that even though they
- 43:45Speaker 17: are seeing this funeral procession and these three souls finally
- 43:51Speaker 17: buried here in Israel, they can't actually get that closure
- 43:53Speaker 17: until all of the hostages are back home. As we're
- 43:56Speaker 17: speaking right now, there are still sixty three hostages in
- 43:59Speaker 17: the Gazastre. Four more bodies or expected to be released
- 44:03Speaker 17: either today or tomorrow. These four bodies included in Fez
- 44:06Speaker 17: one of the Seaspire deal, where we saw thirty three
- 44:09Speaker 17: names on that list. But the questions remaining around Phees
- 44:12Speaker 17: two of this Sea Spire or there could possibly be
- 44:14Speaker 17: an extension of Phees one or the while sixty three
- 44:19Speaker 17: people hostages are still in the Gaza Strip. Until they're
- 44:22Speaker 17: all back home, the Israeli public says that that little
- 44:25Speaker 17: bit of closure will not be there, and so that
- 44:27Speaker 17: is also why today is such a difficult and emotional
- 44:31Speaker 17: day from many people here in Israel.
- 44:33Speaker 3: Yeah, it is indeed out for the Jewish community in
- 44:35Speaker 3: particular around the world, but as well anyone who has
- 44:40Speaker 3: any goodness in their hearts will be absolutely devastated.
- 44:43Speaker 1: This is a dark day for everyone. Nicole.
- 44:46Speaker 3: You just mentioned there that the funeral is delayed because
- 44:48Speaker 3: of just how many Israelis turned out to show their support.
- 44:53Speaker 3: So we're waiting for that still to begin. It was
- 44:55Speaker 3: meant to begin about twenty minutes ago.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Can you tell us how the the eulogies will work.
- 45:01Speaker 3: Who we're expecting to hear from very shortly.
- 45:06Speaker 17: Well, we've already heard some of statements coming out from
- 45:09Speaker 17: the b Beast family yard and Bivas his sister in fact,
- 45:13Speaker 17: so the sister in law of Shari Vivas already stating
- 45:16Speaker 17: that we're watching with grief, and Yarden wishes that he
- 45:19Speaker 17: could hug every single one of the people of the
- 45:23Speaker 17: masses of Israelis that are accompanying him and his family
- 45:25Speaker 17: on this emotional and devastating day, and he says that
- 45:29Speaker 17: he hopes one day soon that the Israeli public will
- 45:32Speaker 17: not only be united in grief, but in more joyful
- 45:35Speaker 17: times and so that's so far the message that we're
- 45:37Speaker 17: hearing from the Bibas family. We'll likely hear more emotional
- 45:41Speaker 17: eulogies from the Biba's family, from Shii's sister as well,
- 45:46Speaker 17: the only living member of her family still alive, as
- 45:49Speaker 17: far as the sister of Shii, as Shiri's two parents
- 45:52Speaker 17: were also killed on October seventh during the massacre at
- 45:56Speaker 17: their home in kutznir Oz. And so this is also
- 46:00Speaker 17: a difficult day because it brings many of those emotions
- 46:03Speaker 17: back from October seventh, and it's a grim reminder of
- 46:06Speaker 17: the reality that the people here in Israel have been
- 46:08Speaker 17: facing and coming to terms with over the past sixteen months.
- 46:12Speaker 17: This is a grim reality when you watch some of
- 46:14Speaker 17: these funerals, seeing which family members are present to give
- 46:17Speaker 17: a eulogy and which family members are not present to
- 46:21Speaker 17: see their daughter being laid dressed. And so we will
- 46:24Speaker 17: be hearing some of those emotional eulogies later in the day,
- 46:26Speaker 17: possibly even hearing from President Isaac Kertzog as well. We
- 46:30Speaker 17: heard from yesterday as Odin Liftschit's eighty three year old
- 46:33Speaker 17: peace activist who was also one of the bodies returned,
- 46:36Speaker 17: along with sharing Ril and Kmerbibus voted. Liftschitz was also
- 46:39Speaker 17: laid dressed at his home in kabutznair Oz just yesterday,
- 46:43Speaker 17: and we heard from Isaac Kurtzog then as well as
- 46:46Speaker 17: oh had Liftschit's wife, you Heaven lift Chits, who was
- 46:50Speaker 17: also kidnapped on October seventh. These are two peace activists
- 46:54Speaker 17: who spent their life transporting Palescindians from the Gaza Strip
- 46:58Speaker 17: to receive proper healthcare here and Is. And so you
- 47:01Speaker 17: haven't said what it was so shocking about their abduction
- 47:04Speaker 17: was that they were kidnapped, But it's very seen people
- 47:07Speaker 17: that they spent their life trying to help, and so
- 47:10Speaker 17: we're expected to hear some very more emotional bulogies. And
- 47:14Speaker 17: you can see everyone here on is anxiously waiting and
- 47:17Speaker 17: coming together and really trying to support each other through
- 47:19Speaker 17: this difficult day.
- 47:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, and you mentioned Odad Lifshits, and you
- 47:24Speaker 3: know the reality that he had spent his whole life
- 47:28Speaker 3: helping Palestinians trying to achieve peace. And this has been
- 47:32Speaker 3: a big wake up coll because we know we can
- 47:35Speaker 3: see there's no pretending Hamas doesn't want peace. It merely
- 47:39Speaker 3: exists to bring murder and destruction.
- 47:42Speaker 1: The fact that it can target a.
- 47:43Speaker 3: Tiny baby, a child, their loving mother. This is why
- 47:48Speaker 3: we're watching this funeral procession. And not only were they
- 47:51Speaker 3: kidnapped from their homes, their beds, they were murdered by
- 47:55Speaker 3: bare hands.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Kafir. The violent death at just ten months old so traumatic.
- 48:02Speaker 1: You can't even imagine.
- 48:03Speaker 3: A baby killed by terrorists like this in a movement
- 48:07Speaker 3: that's one so much support Nicole around the world, including
- 48:11Speaker 3: here in Australia.
- 48:12Speaker 1: A baby that.
- 48:13Speaker 3: Never got to celebrate his first birthday and the world
- 48:17Speaker 3: is watching as he's buried today.
- 48:21Speaker 17: And Shary what you're speaking about right now, this shock
- 48:24Speaker 17: and this surprise. I think it does speak to the
- 48:26Speaker 17: Israeli safety as well, because even after the October seventh massacre,
- 48:31Speaker 17: where Israel was shown firsthand the cruelty of this terror
- 48:35Speaker 17: group inside Gaza that indiscriminately murdered Israelis, Christians, Muslims, foreign
- 48:42Speaker 17: workers who are here just working the agricultural fields. Five
- 48:46Speaker 17: of them still captive in Gaza. They're part of those
- 48:49Speaker 17: sixty three that are still there. They have no ties
- 48:51Speaker 17: from Israel. We're talking about a Nepalese, a Tanzanian and
- 48:54Speaker 17: a Thai worker that are still in Gaza. And so
- 48:57Speaker 17: that talks about the indiscriminate heat and cruelty we saw
- 49:00Speaker 17: from Hamas. It's still following October seventh, when we saw
- 49:05Speaker 17: the and heard about the cruelty that these tear groups
- 49:09Speaker 17: did in the way that they killed those two little
- 49:12Speaker 17: GiB Us boy as well as Shari, Israeli public was
- 49:15Speaker 17: once again shocked. And that's what surprises many of us
- 49:18Speaker 17: when you hear this news. How can we again and
- 49:20Speaker 17: again be shocked by the cruelty. But that's the Israeli spirit,
- 49:24Speaker 17: and that's the spirit even of Odd Liftshitz and No Heaven.
- 49:27Speaker 17: We spent their life trying to make peace with those
- 49:30Speaker 17: people across the border. And every time that we hear
- 49:32Speaker 17: another wake up call, and we're facing one of those
- 49:35Speaker 17: wake up calls today with the funeral of Shari, Ariel
- 49:38Speaker 17: and Kafir. It's shocking that Israel can still be shocked
- 49:43Speaker 17: by the cruelty of the Tearan group that is in Gaza.
- 49:45Speaker 17: Yet still there's these remnants of hope that Israel thinks
- 49:49Speaker 17: that they can continue to move past some of these
- 49:51Speaker 17: darkest days. I think that's what brings the Israeli public together,
- 49:55Speaker 17: those moments of hope that they can continue to cling
- 49:57Speaker 17: onto despite the horrors and the cruel to you we
- 50:00Speaker 17: continue to learn about.
- 50:01Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, Nicoleztek, really appreciate your time.
- 50:05Speaker 1: Thank you very much for joining us on this terrible,
- 50:08Speaker 1: sad day in Israel.
- 50:10Speaker 3: And we're going to stay with these pictures. We're waiting
- 50:14Speaker 3: now for the eulogy to begin. We'll bring you the
- 50:16Speaker 3: live pictures as they come. This is what the international
- 50:19Speaker 3: news agencies are playing. But let's bring in now for
- 50:23Speaker 3: more analysis. Sky News contributed Kosher Gada Kosher.
- 50:27Speaker 1: It's against this.
- 50:28Speaker 3: Backdrop that we are that Donald Trump is having conversations
- 50:33Speaker 3: with Israeli Prime Minister Benjaminette and Yaho about how to
- 50:36Speaker 3: move forward, about whether to move on to the second
- 50:39Speaker 3: phase of the hostage deal, which would mean that Israel
- 50:44Speaker 3: needs to withdraw from the Gaza strip, or do they
- 50:48Speaker 3: go in and defeat Hamas once and for all. That
- 50:51Speaker 3: was always a goal of this war, as Benjamin Netanya
- 50:56Speaker 3: who outlined it. But as we've seen in recent times,
- 51:00Speaker 3: though they have been you know, thoroughly decimated, their leadership
- 51:04Speaker 3: has been killed. There is a strong movement there Hamas
- 51:08Speaker 3: is still in control in Gaza Kosha Gata.
- 51:12Speaker 1: What are your thoughts?
- 51:15Speaker 18: Yes, absolutely, and what a dash are you know? There
- 51:17Speaker 18: are a few tragedies in the world, and a world
- 51:20Speaker 18: that unfortunately sees many tragedies that really elicit the kind
- 51:23Speaker 18: of visceral reaction that this one is from around the world,
- 51:26Speaker 18: as you've been covering throughout the hour, And that word
- 51:29Speaker 18: you use, backdrop is so critical because it does sort
- 51:33Speaker 18: of refocus or remind the world a little bit about
- 51:35Speaker 18: the fundamentals of this conflict and that evil exists and
- 51:39Speaker 18: how do you address it. So with that backdrop, you're right,
- 51:42Speaker 18: I mean, I think it does have some impact. And
- 51:45Speaker 18: the way that whole negotiation is going to play out,
- 51:48Speaker 18: I think President Trump is going to continue with his
- 51:51Speaker 18: view of being very, very supportive and a strong ally
- 51:54Speaker 18: of Israel to do what they must for defending their
- 51:58Speaker 18: sovereignty and their national security, ale still maintaining as much
- 52:02Speaker 18: non introventionalism as possible because that is part of his agenda,
- 52:05Speaker 18: And I think he's going to try and continue to
- 52:07Speaker 18: thread that needle. But I think the pictures that we're
- 52:10Speaker 18: seeing now in this momental hero definitely please a rule
- 52:13Speaker 18: and just how the optics as well as the policy
- 52:15Speaker 18: is going to shap and this is.
- 52:18Speaker 3: A deep moment, a major movement for everyone around the world.
- 52:23Speaker 3: This has been front page news in most international newspapers
- 52:28Speaker 3: Argentina because the Bibest family were part Argentinian as well
- 52:33Speaker 3: as Israeli, and in fact there are Australian members of
- 52:36Speaker 3: the Bibast family, as I've been speaking about tonight. Yet
- 52:40Speaker 3: Argentina has had a two day morning period for Kafia
- 52:44Speaker 3: and ril buildings right around the world have been illuminated
- 52:48Speaker 3: in orange lights out of respect. Australia has done nothing
- 52:53Speaker 3: Kosher Gada. Our leaders have barely spoken about the Bibass
- 52:56Speaker 3: family at all.
- 52:58Speaker 1: This is a major deal.
- 53:00Speaker 3: Well, this is truly one of the darkest moments for Israel,
- 53:04Speaker 3: but also big news right around the world. Just the
- 53:07Speaker 3: reality of laying to rest a baby and a four
- 53:11Speaker 3: year old and their mother who were killed by terrorists,
- 53:14Speaker 3: and it just feels, especially the Prime Minister and the
- 53:18Speaker 3: Foreign Minister pennywe really have underestimated the brutality of this
- 53:25Speaker 3: and just how much the story of the Bibat family
- 53:29Speaker 3: has resonated with people, not just the Jewish community, but
- 53:33Speaker 3: people right around the world.
- 53:37Speaker 18: Yes, you've been making that point so effectively all week
- 53:40Speaker 18: and that clip that we saw of the Prime minister,
- 53:42Speaker 18: and it's been our two days since then and still nothing,
- 53:45Speaker 18: which can only lead us to one conclusion that it
- 53:48Speaker 18: is a deliberate calculation. I hate to use that word
- 53:52Speaker 18: on a day like this, but there might be a
- 53:54Speaker 18: political calculation there where the left wing of politics right now,
- 53:58Speaker 18: in an election year over here, is trying to walk
- 54:01Speaker 18: that line of constituents in the bass, the Labor Party
- 54:04Speaker 18: base that they want to appease, if you will, with
- 54:08Speaker 18: the controversies and the aspects of this conflict that have
- 54:12Speaker 18: not had consensus in that base, and that's kind of
- 54:14Speaker 18: what they're.
- 54:14Speaker 1: Either playing to or pandering to.
- 54:16Speaker 18: But I really think it's such a it's wrong, immral,
- 54:19Speaker 18: But it's also a missed opportunity because moments like these,
- 54:23Speaker 18: as sad as they are, they can actually be very unifying.
- 54:25Speaker 18: It's a way to come across as very statesman like.
- 54:28Speaker 18: There's so many examples of where this has happened in
- 54:30Speaker 18: the world before. After September eleventh, I remember Queen Elizabeth
- 54:34Speaker 18: had the Changing of the Guard, played a star spangled
- 54:36Speaker 18: banner which had never been done before, for instance. So
- 54:38Speaker 18: there's a real opportunity here to show what's right and
- 54:42Speaker 18: wrong and evil and good and all of that, while
- 54:44Speaker 18: also actually shoring up your bona fides as a statesman.
- 54:47Speaker 18: And I think it's very conspicuous that that has not
- 54:50Speaker 18: happened in Australia.
- 54:52Speaker 1: In data it has.
- 54:53Speaker 3: So look, if you're watching now, if you've just tuned in,
- 54:57Speaker 3: we're looking at live pictures from Hostage Square, what's known
- 55:00Speaker 3: as Hostage Square in Tel.
- 55:02Speaker 1: Aviv, Israel.
- 55:03Speaker 3: Tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of Israelis have
- 55:06Speaker 3: come out to the street to watch the funeral of
- 55:10Speaker 3: the Bibas family, baby Kafir, brother Ariel, and mother Shiri.
- 55:14Speaker 3: It is a private funeral for the family near Vekibuts
- 55:18Speaker 3: in southern Israel, near the border with Gaza, but it
- 55:21Speaker 3: will be broadcast lives. So you're looking at Israeli's standing
- 55:25Speaker 3: waiting for that funeral to begin, for the eulogies to begin,
- 55:29Speaker 3: when we will hear from Yarden, father and husband for
- 55:33Speaker 3: the first time. It's one of the darkest days, and
- 55:37Speaker 3: in truth, we've all fallen in love with these children,
- 55:40Speaker 3: with their loving mother.
- 55:42Speaker 1: She battled terrorists.
- 55:44Speaker 3: She held her babies close to her chest, trying to
- 55:48Speaker 3: protect them.
- 55:49Speaker 1: She couldn't do so. She would have given anything to
- 55:52Speaker 1: protect them. She would have given her whole heart to
- 55:54Speaker 1: protect them.
- 55:55Speaker 3: And now, today, the darkest of days, their funeral. For
- 56:00Speaker 3: continuing coverage from Israel, we're running this footage on the
- 56:05Speaker 3: Election Channel or on the Sky News app. But that's
- 56:08Speaker 3: all I've got time for today. I'll see you tomorrow
- 56:11Speaker 3: at eight.
- 56:12Speaker 1: And right now, here's Paul Murray live from Vegas
