Latest / Brandon Fogal Evolution / #98 - Did China Just Make a HUGE MISTAKE?
Transcript
- 0:00So the U.S. stock market had its biggest day yesterday, April 9th, 2025.
- 0:08And were you a panicking? Were you a person that got out of the market because
- 0:13you thought that it was just plummeting and you thought there was no end in
- 0:17sight? It was just going to keep going down further and further.
- 0:19To be honest, I was feeling that.
- 0:23I even looked into it a little bit like, do I need to be smart about this?
- 0:27Do I need to reach out and maybe pull things, pull some things back?
- 0:32But I was, I had to reassure myself and I'm sure a lot of people out there felt
- 0:37that same way. You got to hold the line.
- 0:39You got to hold the line. You got to know when to put your, you know,
- 0:43to bounce back out and you got to know when to stay in.
- 0:46And I think right now this, this administration, it is thinking long game.
- 0:51And I don't think we, anybody should be a person that panics because things
- 0:56like yesterday can happen.
- 0:58They were heavily influenced by Trump announcing they were going to do a 90-day
- 1:02pause on tariffs for the rest of the world besides China.
- 1:08The tariffs are in effect hugely still on China, and they're going to stay that way.
- 1:15And was that a big mistake by China?
- 1:19My name is Brandon Fogle. This is Evolution. Let's dive into it.
- 1:22So there are a lot of things that happened yesterday. I really was not watching the market.
- 1:27I'm trying not to watch any of my, my accounts go up or down.
- 1:31You know, I just, because if you are, unless you're like a stockbroker,
- 1:35that is, that is what you live and breathe.
- 1:38It isn't the best mental mind game to be looking at your bank account and your
- 1:46stocks go up and down. It's, it doesn't feel good.
- 1:49I mean, I guess it feels good when your stocks are going up,
- 1:51but when they're going down and when you just, I would be, so I guess I should start it off with this.
- 1:59I'm not a person to take financial advice from. So I am not a financial advisor. And.
- 2:06Anytime that I have tried to make some money in whatever it is,
- 2:12stocks or whatever, I come out very poorly.
- 2:16And that's why I have made it my goal to let others handle that.
- 2:21Let others make the right decisions. People that do it for a living.
- 2:25Because it is so easy to just freak out when you see the market plummeting.
- 2:31And also, I've always wanted to try to get rich quick. you know,
- 2:36try to make some money quick, you know, and try to get those and try to like,
- 2:39try to forecast what this penny stock out there is going to do,
- 2:43you know, the pink sheets.
- 2:45Is it going to make me some money? You know, I did that for a while and that was a huge mistake.
- 2:51You know, some people can get lucky and some people are like Bradley Cooper.
- 2:56You know, you're taking that limitless pill and you're able just to know exactly
- 3:00what the market's going to do based on history based on the statistics, what's going on.
- 3:05But most people don't have that. Most people don't got the time or day.
- 3:08And I found that like every time that I tried to throw money into,
- 3:12I think it's going to, this is the next, the next big deal.
- 3:16This is the next thing, man. I come out looking pretty bad to myself.
- 3:21You know, I don't really share it with anybody.
- 3:22I don't tell anybody about it except for now, except for you,
- 3:25you all know about it, but no one else knows.
- 3:27I don't even tell my wife about it. Really. I don't, I try not to tell her anything about it.
- 3:32I only tell her good news. If there's good news, I tell her.
- 3:35If there's bad news, I keep it to myself.
- 3:37And it's not even fun to talk financial stuff ever with your spouse.
- 3:40I don't think it's ever a good idea. I've, you know, I learned that from Michael Scott.
- 3:45I, you don't, you don't talk financial stuff. It is, it does not take you in
- 3:49the right direction. It does not, it does not end out, end up favorably for you.
- 3:53So just stay away from finances, stay away from money, especially in that personal
- 3:57life with your, with your significant other. But maybe you are a person that
- 4:01is able to read the tea leaves and you know what's going to be gold and you
- 4:06know what's going to make bank money.
- 4:08As opposed to someone else. But the regular Joe out there, I don't think you do.
- 4:12The regular person out there that doesn't do it for a living.
- 4:15But is there any, even the stockbrokers, do they know what's going to go on?
- 4:21The people that are on Wall Street, do they really know what's going to happen?
- 4:24Or are they just playing a game? Are they just every day going into a casino
- 4:29and they don't know what's going to happen either?
- 4:31They're reading the headlines. I think they're just looking,
- 4:33they're looking to the right and to the left and see what everybody else is doing.
- 4:37But when some news comes out like trump
- 4:40announced that there's going to be a pause Everybody reacts
- 4:43instantly But it's not to say that this
- 4:46is not going to have huge ramifications for the
- 4:49future of our country Because trump he paused
- 4:52the 90 the the terrace for 90 days for everyone else But he left that 10 on
- 4:57there for everyone and everybody just kind of goes past that He made some headway
- 5:03And he he made it so everybody's going to come to the table now and renegotiate
- 5:08where we stand with each country.
- 5:10And he's made it clear that we will not play soft anymore.
- 5:14We're going to play hardball with everyone. And the rest of the world,
- 5:18besides China, reacted the smart way.
- 5:22And this, I would say, is going to be a huge problem for China going forward.
- 5:29If your stock portfolio was in China, I would say get out. I would say get out of that.
- 5:38But I'm the person I've just said, I don't know anything. I don't know anything.
- 5:42I have no idea. I'm just, I'm a talking head about that.
- 5:46And so maybe, maybe take my other advice, you know, I don't know.
- 5:49It goes back and forth. I just said, I don't know anything about it,
- 5:51but I, I just got, I got, I got a feeling. I got a feeling, but my money's not going there.
- 5:57So maybe, maybe you can trust me on that one.
- 5:59I just think that China has been put in a bad position.
- 6:03They reacted very poorly. and we're going to see that they are going to be put
- 6:07on the sideline for the world economy for the near future.
- 6:11And I would say for the distant future for a while, unless they make amends
- 6:17and come to us, pull everything down.
- 6:20And I think I don't see them doing that.
- 6:23They are very proud people with a very proud president.
- 6:27And I don't see them doing that at all. And that's why I think in the a little
- 6:32bit distant future, they are going to react in a way that is not good at all.
- 6:37We're always talking about them going into Taiwan.
- 6:40I don't think it's going to happen right now, but they are going to see that
- 6:44their economy does not is not in a good spot at all.
- 6:48And I think they are going to react eventually, not the immediate future,
- 6:53but they are going to do something because this is going to hurt them significantly
- 6:57when they see everyone else is inside this world working economy and they're
- 7:03having to sit on the sidelines and they can't just have that one up over the United States anymore.
- 7:08So I would prognosticate that they are going to do something probably within
- 7:16the next year or two because they are going to their their economy is going
- 7:20to be hurt significantly very badly from this very badly.
- 7:25All right so if you're not aware of what happened. I'm going to take a,
- 7:28we're going to take a look at this, this column from Yahoo Finance stock market today.
- 7:33It now explodes as this was yesterday, 3000 points higher. S and P 500 has best day since 2008.
- 7:40As Trump paused the reciprocal tariffs. U.S.
- 7:44Stocks skyrocketed higher on Wednesday as President Trump announced a 90-day
- 7:48pause on tariffs for most countries, yet at the same time, upped increasingly
- 7:53ballooning levies on China.
- 7:55The benchmark S&P 500 roared up 9.5% posting its best day since 2008.
- 8:02I saw also, this was really the best day since World War II.
- 8:07You know, we're always gauging on World War II because we were in a war and
- 8:10somehow everything just went up.
- 8:12The markets just went wild and we made a lot of money. But this was a huge day.
- 8:17And I think we hit the bottom right there. I think we hit the bottom the day before that.
- 8:22That's not to say that there's always going to be flipping and going back and
- 8:26forth. But we did see that roar yesterday, what happened.
- 8:31It's looking good for the United States going forward. So if you weren't able
- 8:35to get into the stock market yesterday.
- 8:38I would say it's, you're in a good spot to probably jump in now because things
- 8:43are going to be going forward and looking up for the United States based on
- 8:47just historical trends and what Trump is doing because he's not in,
- 8:51this isn't a way to inflate money because prices are coming down.
- 8:55Mortgage rates are coming down.
- 8:57The rates in general, because Trump really just shocked everything.
- 9:01He shocked everyone. He shocked the world by what he announced in,
- 9:04in throwing the tariffs on and now pulling them back, but still leaving that
- 9:0810%, the US dollar is going to grow stronger each day.
- 9:12So Trump always talks about the biggest economy we've ever had,
- 9:15the best economy in his first term.
- 9:17This is going to be, I believe, an economy that is going to last because we
- 9:22are the ones taking front and center full stage and China is going off to the sidelines.
- 9:28They will, they're going to fade. This is going to be the mark that is,
- 9:33they're going to fade into not that superpower that they were.
- 9:37And that's what is giving me that cause like to pause and think,
- 9:42will they react and escalate things in a much dangerous, more dangerous position
- 9:48than they are doing it right now?
- 9:50Because they're all they can do is react with tariffs right now,
- 9:53but the rest of the world is going to play ball with the United States and they
- 9:57are going to move to the side And I'm just a little bit concerned by...
- 10:03When you are a trapped rat in a corner and you don't got anywhere else to go,
- 10:08you're going to start lashing out and biting and doing things.
- 10:13People go to animal instinct easily when you got nothing else to live for and
- 10:18nothing else to play for.
- 10:20And this is the beginning of what's going to unfold for China.
- 10:23So will we see them do something crazy?
- 10:26I think we will probably within the year or two. They are going to do something
- 10:31crazy. It's something we've talked about for years.
- 10:33They're backed in a corner, and it doesn't look like that way right now because,
- 10:37oh, this is just an immediate reaction from me and what I think.
- 10:40But sometimes you can see the writing on the wall.
- 10:43And could this be something, that linchpin that sets things in motion and off?
- 10:48We will see, but I would say that this is the thing, the Kickstarter that is
- 10:54going to start that engine of moving forward to something maybe globally catastrophic.
- 11:01So but the united states is in a good a good
- 11:04spot right now and i don't think trump should dial it down maybe maybe try to
- 11:08de-escalate in certain scenarios but china is the one that needs to come to
- 11:13the table they're the ones that are in the bad spot we are the ones with the
- 11:17cards but for china it does not look good at all keep going and keep evolving
- 11:22to that best version of you.
