not Windbreaker the Korean webcomic. They're both called Windbreaker, and actually,

when I was like looking online, it seems like the Korean webcomic wind Breaker

is actually more popular than this one, so that's interesting. Also, I

think that one is a sports anime, so it makes a little bit more

sense. But we're going to also acknowledge that the title wind Breaker is really

really dumb in general. It doesn't matter what it's for, it's just not

a good title. So I wish it was called something else, but it's

not, so we're just gonna have to bear with it and hope that we

wanted to say that Kaiju number eight, which I hadn't mentioned at all because

I totally didn't realize it was starting, it's been really good, not great,

you anything, but it has monsters as Kaiju in it and people fighting them,

Remember I said I was going to watch two kind of delinquent animes, and

one was Windbreaker and the other one was Viral Hit, which I thought had

the best title I've ever heard because it's about some dude who like is using

YouTube to film himself fighting people, so it has a double meaning. It

sucks. I hate it. It's based on a Korean webcomic, but I

didn't know that going in until I was listening to it in Japanese and I

realized that they changed all the names. It was seeing names in the subtitles

for the characters that were very clearly Korean and they were saying them in Japanese,

and I was like, uh, really, So I checked and I

was like, oh, it is. It's so it's a webcomic, and

so I was so disappointed with the first episode that I was like, well,

let me read the first episode of the webcomic and see if that's better.

Maybe this is just a bad adaptation. No, I hate that too.

The characters are uninteresting so far. I don't like anything about it except

that it was gonna be about fighting. But they even did that poorly because

there was fighting, like there should have been some fighting in the first episode,

but like, it's just done poorly. But also it's done poorly in

the webcomic too, so I can't really fault them that much. Some of

the character design is not as good as it is in the webcomic, but

you know that I exist. So the first episode is called Sakra Arrives at

Fudin. That is such a bland episode title. It tells me exactly what's

gonna happen, and it's not very creat but whatever. So we started the

episode with a black screen and this kind of sketchy line art of a rope

fades into the frame and pretty much all of the first kind of opening scene

is just kind of this sketchy white line art on a black background, and

that's all done by I Takashi, who I think did a really good job.

So we see a foot step onto this rope, and then we get

a shot of a person walking cautiously across this rope like it's a tight rope

and it's just silent except for like the straining of the rope under this person's

weight as they cross it. And then we get a close up on like

the bottom part of their face. We can't see their eyes, and they

gulp and they tense their face, and then suddenly there's just this rush of

wind from below them and they kind of struggle to maintain balance. And then

we cut to kind of a black and white image of these girls without like

faces, like we can't see their eyes or anything, and there's kind of

like this staticy like old TV with bad reception filter on it, and we

hear one of the girls say did you hear another fight? And then another

girl says, you're kidding, and then the first girl probably says like it's

such a nuisance, and then we are back with that guy who was walking

across the tight rope, or actually, at this point I believe he is

just trying to catch his balance. Still, he's just still on the tight

rope. And then we cut to these two I guess older people that we

also can't see their eyes. Is like the same aesthetic of those girls from

before. We're gonna kind of cut in and out of this aesthetic, so

it'll be kind of like this fuzzy visual snowy TV screen and then this black

and white line art back and forth. So we see these older folks and

one of them says again, that's why I was against it, and then

we cut back to the guy on the rope, and then we cut to

a group of teens and one of them says, don't mess with him.

He's clearly dangerous. At this point, the guy on the rope actually starts

to walk forward again, and we hear a male voice say nothing we could

do. No one else will take him, and then a female say,

of course when he looks like that, And then we cut to two guys

in suits and one is in the front leg pointing forward and the other one

has his hand over his face, kind of ashamed, and the guy in

with the guy in the tightrope and we hear a female voice say, what

do you mean you don't have a wallet, and then a male voice say

is that him? And the female says, seriously, the worst. And

then we cut to like a really large group of teens and a girl says,

like, what's with the white hair, and a guy's like, nah,

his eyes are worse. What a plague? And then we're back with

the guy struggling on the tightrope, and then we cut to a group of

like all of the folks that have been kind of talking in all of these

shots standing together and they all just say gross. How And then at that

point we cut back to the tight rope and the kid slips and just falls,

and then it's black. In the next shot, we see a light

fixture on a ceiling. It's kind of a circular one with fluorescent bulbs in

it. Anyway, there's a bird kind of calling in the background. I

assume it's mourning, and there's a person like laying in bed onto the light

fixture and they sit up and we see that it is a guy, like

a younger guy, with black and white hair. It's like black on one

side and white on the other side. I don't know if you've ever seen

Blackjack, the anime Blackjack or the character Blackjack, but it's exactly sort of

like Blackjack's hair, except reversed. This person has black hair on the right

side of his head instead of the other way for Blackjack. It doesn't really

matter, but now you know. So he's sitting up with his face partially

obscured from the camera, like we only see the bottom of his face,

but like from his posture, you can tell he's like not really thrilled about

getting up, and things are just kind of quiet. He just sits there

for a second and then he makes kind of ach that like tisk noise,

but it's not tisk, but it's the Japanese noise that you make that means

that anyway. Then we cut to outside and there's some wind chimes that look

like they're three D, which is weird. And then we see a sign

that says tom Pu Shopping Street and there's like kids like running down the street

and playing and like looks pretty nice. And then we cut to a supermarket

and there's like an old lady looking at some produce. And then also in

the supermarket, I guess somewhere else, someone reaches for like a carton of

eggs. And then we are outside and we're just kind of getting some scenes

of daily life in this town, and it looks like a fairly nice and

normal place. And then we see some feet and legs walking down the street

and there's a voiceover and it goes, I love the strong, I have

no interest in the week. Oh and it's I guess that guy with the

two colored hair. He's walking down the street. And then we flash to

this sign and it says anyone past this point who causes pain, I hate

this sign. Who brings destruction, who holds evil in their heart, will

And then we cut to someone being shoved against like a closed storefront door,

and it's a girl with brown hair, and there are like these dudes

wearing black and they're kind of all around her, and the girl's like,

I told you to get out of my way. And this one guy who's

in front is like, oh, come on, don't say that. Is

there anywhere you want to go? Something you want to do? And the

girl's like your faces and the guy kind of like chuckles because she's weird or

whatever. And the girl says, I'd like to smash eggs in your faces,

but my hands are full and it'd be a waste of eggs, so

I won't. Okay, So she's probably the one who bought the eggs earlier,

and the guy just kind of like laughs and he's like, I like

strong willed girls, but if you act too tough, you're goin to see

some pain, okay, guy. And the girl starts to walk off,

but you know, she's surrounded and he grabs her by the wrist and she's

like, hey, that hurts, and we see the guy with the hair

and he's like walking forward again and he's thinking the week who mistakenly think they're

strong, and we cut back to the girl and she's like, let go

of me, and then they stop because someone has put his hand on the

dude who's accosting her shoulder, and it's that guy with the two colored hair,

and the bad guy like turns his head and He's like, what,

and the dude with black and white hair says, don't do lame stuff in

fraud daylight, and the mean guy says, who the hell are you?

And he like shakes him off his shoulder and says, what's with the stupid

look? Stay out of my way, and he like swings at him,

but the black and white kid ducks and then raises his fist and thinks they

disgust me, And then we cut to that bad dude falling like onto the

ground and the black and white guy whose name I know and I wish I

could tell you because it's really frustrating me to say. The black and white

guy leans over him and is like, what's going on inside your head that

makes you even think you're strong? And then we see that actually he didn't

just hit that guy like all of the guys that were ganging up on her

or just laid out on the ground, and he grabs the mean guy by

the collar and says, remember my name and face, so the week will

avoid me and the strong will find me. I'm and then he drops him

and he says, Sokkara Haruka from food in high school. Okay, now

we have his name we're gonna call him Soakara now because that's what everyone's gonna

call him. And we finally get a look at his face and we see

that in addition to you know, multicolored hair, he's got heterochroma. So

one of his eyes is kind of like a darkish grayish color on the side

of his face that his black hair, and then his other eye is kind

of like yellowish, and that's on you know, the side with the white
13:43
hair, and he's got white eyelashes on that side. So I guess he's

one of those people who's like part albino. I think that there's an actual

term for that, because I was looking this up because I have a character

in my comic that's part albino that nobody knows is part albina. I know

yet because she wears sunglasses, but I can't remember what it's called. But

he's part albino. I guess, so like down the Middle, which I'm

not really sure really happens like that, but it's pretty cool. And then

we cut to the opening theme. I can rest for a second. So

the opening theme is called Absolute Zero and it's by Natory, and it's just

got shots of like probably the main characters and they're like fighting and stuff,

and then there's some guy who really likes tomatoes and he has white hair and

there's shots of tomatoes. I don't know, stuff like that. It's fine.

The song's pretty good. It's nothing like super super special, but it's

also not bad. So back from the opening, Sakra puts his hands in

his pockets and he starts to walk away from the carnage that he just created,

and the girl who was kind of accosted is still standing by that storefront,

looking super confused, and she eventually kind of like snaps out of it

and she's like hey, wait, and she runs over and she's like hey

hey, I said wait, and she grabs his arm and she's just like

thanks, and Sokar looks at her, who's still holding his sleeve, and

then he starts just like looking all around and then he's like wait, wait

me, and the girl's like there's no one else here, and Sokkra looks

confused for a second, and then he just turns bright red and he's like,

it's not like I saved you or anything. I just couldn't stand that

guy. And the girl is clearly confused, and she just like, okay,

well are you hungry? And then Soccer is like what and he turns

away and he's still like really blushing and he's like no way. And then

we cut to them in a restaurant and she's giving him a plate of amu

rice. And I should explain in case we haven't talked about this, because

I don't think we have Amu rice. Is this dish that's like, oh

man, that's what I was gonna make for dinner, but I forgot.

Anyway, amor rice is a dish that is what I believe Japanese people think

some like Westerners eat where it's like an omelet, but it has rice in

it, and it has ketchup on top, which is not something that you

know is a Western dish. But I think it's cute anyway. I've tried

to make it before, and I did a really terrible job because I couldn't

the rice is the in the omelet. It's pretty cool, but I couldn't

do it right because I don't have those skills to make it all look nice

a restaurant of some sort and he is at like a bar with stools,

you know, with this plate of ami rice in front of him, and

the girl says, oh, so you're from out of town, and he's

just kind of staring at the food, and she continues, that's why I

haven't seen you before. It's not often that someone moves to a town like

this. And Soccer is like, yeah, yeah, I'm a weirdo and

the girl's like, no, that's not what I meant. I wasn't talking

about you specifically, And then we get an outside shot of the place and

it is called Cafe Pathos. I think unless I wrote that wrong, and

the girl says this town was really unsafe until recently, with all the fighting

and turf wars between various gangs and teams. Normal people wouldn't even come near

here. That said, I'm not from here originally either, and she hands

him a spoon like sets it down on a napkin for him and says,

I'm Tachibana Kotoha, Nice to meet you. In Soccer kind of looks on

in disgust and thinks, why is she being so friendly? Normally people get

freaked out. I mean, I just beat up five guys in front of

her plus and Kotoha like kind of stops his train of thought and is like,

wait, you're not gonna eat, do you not? Like am rice?

And Soccer like picks up this spoon and he's like, I'll eat it.

I was just I was just about to start. And then he starts

to eat it and he like blushes because it's really really good, and he's

like, can you get take off? And he says, like the word

takeoff in English from this place, and Kotoh is like, do you mean

take out, because no, you can't. And he's just like, oh,

I see I can't. And koto Ha is like, anyway, you

have like a really strange look and it's not like you dyed your hair and

you're wearing like contacts, right, And Soccta stops eating, but he's still

looking down at his food and he's just like, you got a problem with

it? And he looks up and she is right in his face, like

inches away from his face, and she's like, amazing, it's like a

marble. I didn't know you could get colors like this, and Sokaa like

shoots back like halfway across the room and raise his fists and he's like,

wasn't trying to fight you, and Soakara lowers his hands and he says,

Sakaa sits back down and Kotoha says, well, I'm used to seeing weirder

stuff like this, and she like raises her hands and I have no idea

what that was supposed to mean, and soccer is just like like how and

koto Haa doesn't explain, but she says, is that why then? And

Soccer is like, how you look doesn't matter in a fight. That's why

I came to Furan. That's not true based on the beginning scene, but

whatever. And then we cut to the Furan flag and some like tough looking

guy standing under it, and Soccera says lowest didn't rank the strongest hang out

for miscreants. Every day's turf wars and overthrowing other people. The story goes

that there were even fights on New Year's Day. I'm gonna take the top

and worth nothing but their fits. Fighting to become number one is the best

I wouldn't call those high hopes at all, and she kind of pauses and

there's kind of like a tension, and then she's like, oh, that's

why you're wearing your uniform even though classes don't start until tomorrow. You're getting

all pumped up. Hunh, and Soccer all like really blushes and grimaces,

and he's like, no, this is you know, I just moved here

and I don't have any clothes. Sure, And Kotoha says, okay,

okay, I get it. You're really looking forward to school life. And

Saccara shudders and stands and it's like, damn it, let's take this outside.

And just when they're about to fight or something, this old guy who

was eating in the restaurant too, he walks over to the counter bar area

on the table, and kotoas like okay, Yama ja, thanks for coming

in. Be careful, and the old guy is like at the door now,

he's like okay, yeah, I'll stop by again soon. And Sokra

is off screen at this point, and we hear him just say hey,

old guy, and Kotoha and Yama turn back and they see Sokra and he's

holding a small gift bag and he's like you forgot this, and Yamas like,

oh my, and he takes it and he's like I forget so much

lately, and then Sacara like turns and starts to walk away. Then we

cut to Sacara walking down the street and looking at his hand and we see

that in his hand are like a couple of little candies that are like wrapped

individually candies. They're probably hard candies, you know, and he's like,

I don't get it. And then we cut back to earlier when he was

still at the cafe and he's sitting at the bar still, and Kotoha sets

down the candies next to him on the counter and is like, here you

go. That thing from earlier was the gift first grandkid. He said,

you're a lifesaver. Thank you, and Sacara looks shocked and blushes and Kotoha

says, why are you blushing? Oh no, you know what, when

you're blushing and someone calls you out on it, it sucks. Don't do

that to people. And Soccer is just like what, shut up? This

whole town is crazy, including you, and Kotoa is just like what and

Soccraa grabs kind of like his uniform, kind of like buy his heart.

So I wasn't really sure if he was clutching his chest or clutching his uniform,

but he says, I mean to someone who looks like this. Besides,

I'm wearing the uniform of an infamous delinquent school and he's like sweating,

and he's like and you'd think you'd show gratitude to someone like that. Normally

you'd have your guard up and be suspicious. One time, when I picked

up someone's wallet, he said, you pickpocketed me, didn't you, And

we hear like sirens in the background, and Soccer says, you have to

check that I didn't take anything out, and koto haas just like so like

do you want to be trusted or not? Engy sighs, Soccra, you

were right to choose Fudin, but you can't get to the top of Fudin

like, you're alone out and Soccer's face turns from like anger to shock and

then to resentment and he knocks over the stool. I don't think it was

intentional, but he did. And he's like, I am not so weak

that I can't win without relying on others, and he walks past her to

leave the shop, and kotohas like, I'm not talking about physically. You

should go meet the Forin kids. I'm sure you'll understand if you do,

and then we're back to the present with him looking at the candy and he

puts them in his pocket and he looks up at the sky, I think,

and it's like blue and it has clouds and it, you know,

like a sky does. And then we cut to a mob of young men

or teens and they are just coming through the town and they're like breaking things

and like destroying shit, and they have like bats and they're like smashing windows

with their bats. It's not good. And we see like a concerned citizen

peek out from like behind the curtains and the window above the Amakusa liquor store

as they like pass, and then a lady who's also in that building dials

someone and says hello. And I assume that's the police that she's dialing,

because who else do you dial when people are just coming through your street just

destroying things? But I don't know, because it doesn't actually show me the

number or anything. And then we see Sakata walking down the street and he

walks right up to the gang and stops maybe six feet away, and this

guy, who I think is the guy from before that was trying to hurt

Kotoha is there and he's got like a bandage on his face and stuff,

and he looks a little bit beat up, so I'm really thinking it's him,

but I couldn't remember what he looked like, but whatever, and he's

like, hey, what's this. I didn't think you'd come out to see

us little food and punk, And then we hit a double eye catch whoo,

and then back from the commercial, we are still in the same spot.

The gang is to the left of the screen and Sokra is to the

right end. They're just kind of staring each other down, and Sokra then

starts to walk towards them, and he reaches the guy in the fronts that

we don't like, and he tries to kind of pass him, but the

guy stops him by putting his hand on Sakura's shoulder chest area, like stops

him from moving forward. And he's like, hey, you ignoring me.

You tell others to remember your name and face, yet you forget theirs.

I forgot his face too, but whatever, Well, I'm not gonna forget

your lame look, colored contacts and meshed hair you cause play And he kind

of pushes Sakra back a little and Sokrara is just silent, and the guy

continues, Oh, hold up, is this your real hair? And those

aren't contexts. And this other guy's like, for real, is he a

cat? And they all like kind of laugh and chuckle and they say yeah

and yeah, which is the way cat's talk in Japanese. And the guy's

like sickening and that that Sokra smiles, which hurts my soul, and he

thinks, this is more like it. This is the normal response everyone always

rejects and denies. I don't care. I gave up, but at least

I want to find some value in me. If I beat the guy in

front of me, I'll be better than him. I thought I could feel

that way. And then he thinks about what Koto has said about how he

can't beat top of Furin because he's alone, and he clenches his fists tightly,

and the guy says, you picked the wrong guy to hit. They

weren't a team out there who'd stay quiet after their leader got hit. It's

gonna be a turf war between us, and and then Sagaa just fucking punches

him in the nose and he falls, and we get a black screen with

the words and Socrara saying them, you are the ones who leave me,

and Soccer is thinking and we see these like scribblely people, and he thinks,

unusual, I'm well aware that I look weird, but what does that

have anything to do with you? And he looks like super determined and angry

as the dude is like falling down and he's like, this is who I

am, and he charges the next guy, and this other guy is like,

what do you think you're doing? And he tries to punch Sakara,

but Soccara needs him instead, and Soakara thinks, if I'm a powerful fighter,

if I'm the strongest, I'm at the top right, and before we

continue, this entire section of the scene was animated, like the line art
