- 0:02Relish pleasing or zestful flavor a quantity
- 0:05just sufficient to flavor to be pleased or
- 0:08gratified by enjoy we are hoping that what
- 0:11we bring to your table today might add some spice to your life hey ron how are
- 0:17you doing doing well how about yourself don i'm doing all right i'm pretty good
- 0:22i'm at the giddy kind of giddy part of my state it's anyway it's been a long
- 0:26So I get giddy at a certain point.
- 0:28Yeah. And so you get to put up with Don and a goody giddy pointy mood. Yeah.
- 0:34All right. Well, hopefully you can get yourself together for these questions here.
- 0:42Looking for the tarp strap that holds me together.
- 0:48What happened with the dinosaurs? They died.
- 0:58Well so many times i think we take the
- 1:01the evolutionary thing and say that dinosaurs didn't coexist
- 1:04with human beings and that's not so because we see it in very plainly in job
- 1:09that the dinosaurs were still in place in his time now granted job was one of
- 1:16the earliest books in the Bible and probably coexists with a time of Noah, soon after Noah.
- 1:25And would be consistent with Abraham's time.
- 1:29But in Job chapter 30, oh my goodness, here we go.
- 1:36Chapter 40 and 15, verse 15, the NIV calls this a behemoth.
- 1:43Well, that's just big critter. But notice the attributes of this behemoth.
- 1:49Some translations call it a crocodile.
- 1:52Well, if this is a crocodile, it's no crocodile I've ever heard about because
- 1:57it feeds on grass, verse 15,
- 2:00has the strength, has strength in his loins, which means his legs are big and
- 2:06powerful and power in the muscles of his belly, a tail that sways like cedar.
- 2:13I could see that maybe in an alligator.
- 2:17And the sinews of his thighs are close knit.
- 2:20His bones are tubes of bronze
- 2:23his limbs are like iron rods
- 2:27of iron now if you would just whoa
- 2:31whoa that out a little bit and think okay how about brontosaurus i mean what
- 2:38crocodile eats grass they're carnivorous yeah this makes no sense to think of
- 2:45this being a crocodile But Bratosaurus,
- 2:49that makes sense.
- 2:51And when you start going on then and bring the hills, bring their produce.
- 2:56Really? Crocodiles on hills? Let's get real. No.
- 3:01And wild animals play nearby, which means they're not. Whatever this creature is, is not carnivorous.
- 3:09Otherwise, wild animals would not play nearby.
- 3:14Under the lotus plants, he lies. Populars by the streams surround him.
- 3:20A river rages and he's not alarmed. So this is a creature that's big enough,
- 3:25even when a river is up and outside of its banks, it's not worried about it.
- 3:30And we know the size of brontosauruses at that time that are talked about from
- 3:36archaeology are good-sized critters.
- 3:39There wasn't much that was going to really, except the T-Rex,
- 3:43of course, they would have one. for lunch.
- 3:45But these were easygoing animals.
- 3:49So I can almost say just from the biblical evidence of Job chapter 40,
- 3:54the brontosaurus was still living at this time.
- 3:58And I think there's a tomb in upper Scotland. It's the upper part of the peninsula where England is.
- 4:10And it actually shows a brontosaurus in the etchings at the edge,
- 4:17the copper etchings at the edge of that tomb.
- 4:19Well, now, where'd they get that picture from? If all the creatures were gone
- 4:24by that time, and likely of all the dinosaurs that could have been left.
- 4:31The brontosaurus would live probably longest because it didn't eat people.
- 4:35Yeah. I mean, any creature that's going to eat people probably is going to get
- 4:39eliminated by humans, right?
- 4:41Which probably is where the dinosaurs went.
- 4:44So, yeah, dinosaurs, you go down in 41 and the Leviathan would be another one
- 4:49that definitely looks like a dinosaur of some nature,
- 4:54that is oceanic in nature compared to the Brontosaurus that's in chapter 40.
- 5:01So, the question again was about dinosaurs in the Bible or dinosaurs?
- 5:07What happened to the dinosaurs? What happened to them? Yeah.
- 5:09I really think man eliminated them over the course of time because they were a threat.
- 5:15And especially the ones that would eat them. I mean, most people think anything
- 5:19that will eat them on a regular basis is considered a threat. Yep.
- 5:24I would agree with that. So, I mean, as we watched the frontier recede in the
- 5:32United States, all those creatures that would attack man were eliminated over a period of time.
- 5:39Even the bison who would threaten basically farms.
- 5:42You couldn't farm with buffalo around.
- 5:46Yeah, they were eliminated. And man did that.
- 5:50I think dinosaur was eliminated by man. so a round of bible times but eliminated
- 5:55by man eventually yep yep all right that's done yep.
- 6:03We kind of, this is a good question anyway. I'll ask it.
- 6:07Okay. Was your faith journey difficult in any way? Oh, mercy sakes, yes.
- 6:12Oh, man. Was it difficult in any way?
- 6:16I would say because- Was it not difficult in any way? Was it not difficult?
- 6:20Yeah, I'd almost go there.
- 6:22And probably the hallmark of my faith journey was the fact that God led me and
- 6:31comforted me through the times of difficulty.
- 6:36And probably the moment that that started to get through my hard head was when Michael died.
- 6:44And the fact God gave me the scripture of James 1, verses 2 through 4,
- 6:51consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you endure trials of many kinds,
- 6:54because the testing of your faith develops perseverance.
- 6:58And perseverance, when it finishes
- 6:59as it's worked, leaves you mature and complete, not lacking anything.
- 7:04And it's right. It's true. That is the way it works.
- 7:09So the fact that my faith journey was difficult, and I think most people who
- 7:15have a deep, heartfelt faith will have a difficult journey.
- 7:24It will be marked by those things that,
- 7:28Make us stronger. Make us better.
- 7:31Yes. So more, yeah. I would say it was marked more by the things that made it
- 7:37stronger than the things that didn't.
- 7:40Marked by the things that were difficult than the things that were not.
- 7:44Yeah. Because if it was easy, I didn't have to worry much about it.
- 7:49I mean, yeah. You don't need to faith. You don't hardly need faith if things are easy. Yeah.
- 7:57Because, yeah. It's easy. Mm-hmm. But you do need faith. You can do it yourself. Yeah.
- 8:02But you need faith when things are not easy. Yeah. To get you through.
- 8:08Definitely. Good question. Yeah. There's a series of questions here, kind of all connected.
- 8:15Was it on Sunday that God rested when he was creating earth?
- 8:19What fruit did Eve eat? And when will Jesus come back to earth?
- 8:24I guess you answered that.
- 8:26Yeah. Yeah. Well, we don't have the day of the week.
- 8:31We use Sunday as Christians.
- 8:35Jews used Saturday.
- 8:38Both of those monikers, Saturday and Sunday, actually come from the Greek and
- 8:43Roman mythical background.
- 8:45So they aren't ours, if you will.
- 8:49They aren't faith backgrounds. They actually have their own Greek Roman monikers.
- 8:58So the sabbath day was the day of rest and the jews kept it on what we call now saturday,
- 9:05yeah but sabbath it wasn't saturday it
- 9:08was sabbath day and then they would go the first day of the week second day
- 9:12of the week third day week you know yeah really not notable monikers but that's
- 9:18the way they they noted it at that time i don't have a a lot of hardship with
- 9:24people keeping the Sabbath day on Saturday.
- 9:28That's all right. And if they want to be Jewish in that take, that's all right.
- 9:33But I think that's the way it needs to be noted because we keep Sunday or the
- 9:40first day of the week as our day of worship,
- 9:44our day of rest, because that's the day Jesus rose from the dead, the day after Sabbath.
- 9:52And so it is our rest day. It's nice in the United States. We can take them
- 9:57both if we really want to.
- 9:58You know, five-day work week. Yeah, five-day work week. And some places now, four-day work week.
- 10:03What are we going to do with a three-day weekend? We got to think that out theologically.
- 10:08Because, you know, Saturday and Sunday could both be rest days. That'd be all right.
- 10:13If you gave both Saturday and Sunday to the Lord, that'd be two-sevenths of
- 10:19your week you gave to God.
- 10:21I think that'd be cool. Yeah, that would be.
- 10:24And so then the second piece was, oh, dear.
- 10:29What fruit did Eve root? Yeah. Well, we always like to think it's an apple.
- 10:34It really probably wasn't.
- 10:35Apples weren't really indigenous to that area of the world. Pomegranate was.
- 10:42And so there's some rules of thought that think, oh, this probably was a pomegranate.
- 10:47And they're luscious and juicy. And yeah, they would fit the moniker of a fruit
- 10:54that would be on a tree and enticing to eat and put on your ice cream.
- 11:00Oh, no, I guess they didn't have ice cream, but I'd put it on my ice cream.
- 11:05So yeah, I think probably it would be not so much an apple.
- 11:10That was probably more our English rendition of a fruit than it would be theirs. Yeah.
- 11:17And then I think we covered when Christ is coming again.
- 11:21And just don't think it's going to be so far in the future that you aren't ready
- 11:26for it would be my counsel there.
- 11:29Because it could happen any time. There's bizarre stuff going on in our world. Yeah. Yeah.
- 11:36That could be when Jesus comes, for sure.
- 11:40This is an interesting question here. How many horses were in the Bible?
- 11:44How many horses were in the Bible?
- 11:48Lots, lots of horses. And I go back to thinking about when David did his,
- 11:53you know, when David took inventory towards the end of his reign,
- 11:58there were lots of horses in that inventory.
- 12:02Wow. So there, yeah, lots of horses. Yeah.
- 12:08I don't have a good answer to that question. I wasn't expecting a number. Oodles and gobbles.
- 12:14Oodles and gobbles. That's really scientific, isn't it?
- 12:18But, yeah, just by the sheer number that the Egyptians used to follow the Jews
- 12:24across, almost across the Red Sea.
- 12:30Yeah, yeah. And then you've got David's numbering of his chariots and horses.
- 12:36That's a lot. Mm-hmm.
- 12:38And then Solomon's horses, yeah.
- 12:41An awful lot, yeah. A lot of horses. A lot of, yeah. And they weren't even Amish.
- 12:45Yeah. Sorry. Sorry, I had to put that in there.
- 12:52It's different in this area of the world. It is different in this area of the world.
- 12:56That is for sure. And I came across a buggy last night in South English. And I thought, really?
- 13:03A buggy in South English?
- 13:05Can it be? Yeah, it was. Nice. Nice.
- 13:09What book of the Bible is the easiest to read and which one is the hardest to read?
- 13:14The easiest, I usually send people to John because the book of John has the
- 13:19most elementary use of the Greek language and subsequently then the most elementary
- 13:26use in the English language,
- 13:28of the Gospels of the New Testament.
- 13:32Hardest to read is sort of a, I'd have to go between revelation.
- 13:38While it's easy to read, it's hard to understand.
- 13:41And then I go to some of the minor prophets like Ezekiel and you get reading
- 13:48Ezekiel and you start, whoa, is he really talking? Yeah, he was saying that.
- 13:54Those are hard words, especially those things that come out of the minor prophets
- 13:58that are chastisement of the people of Israel because they are not being faithful.
- 14:03Yeah. And so it's really hard to read those. And Charlene and I are reading them.
- 14:09We read a chapter of Old Testament and New Testament back and forth during the course of the week.
- 14:15And then on Sunday, we read one of each. So it equals out.
- 14:19And boy, we're just really tired of the minor prophets. We're ready to move
- 14:25on from there. Please. Yeah.
- 14:29Genesis was fine.
- 14:32Even now, Leviticus is looking good. He's like, wow.
- 14:38So, yes. So, yeah. Ease and hard, I think that would get it.
- 14:45The language in Revelation is still fairly easy, but the concepts behind them are hard.
- 14:52Are they really hard to get our handle on? What does that really mean then?
- 14:56What did John really see? And what does that, what John really saw,
- 15:00mean to us today? So it's harder to interpret.
- 15:03Makes sense. Yeah. We talked about hell being a real place at the Hillcrest
- 15:09episode. So is heaven a real place? Oh, absolutely. Oh, yeah.
- 15:14And so you can go and look at Revelation 22, 21, 22, and say,
- 15:21yes, that is the heaven that will be post-white throne judgment, which is chapter 20.
- 15:28When the white throne judgment happens, all those who are judged and their name
- 15:36is not in the book of life will go into the fire and they'll be in hellfire.
- 15:42The rest of them will be with God.
- 15:45And so then that is what happens and is revealed in chapter 21 and 22.
- 15:51Streets of gold, beautiful stuff. Yeah. Yeah.
- 15:55And yeah, I'm just glad that lawn care is taken care of, you know,
- 15:59and the mansion's already made and yeah,
- 16:03with all that pearl and gold and it never says that you're going to have to
- 16:09mow grass. No place in there.
- 16:12It says there's trees, but it never says something about grass or making hay.
- 16:18Any of that. You don't like mowing grass? Oh, I get a buzz out of it, but I, yeah.
- 16:24Yeah, those things about maintenance don't appear.
- 16:30They don't have any oiling of hinges or painting of siding.
- 16:36That's all taken care of. Nice. Mansions. Yeah. Yeah, I can handle that.
- 16:43Yeah. Sounds good. It sounds good. Yeah. Yeah.
- 16:46Lovely place. I'm trying to make sure that my bid is on that real estate.
- 16:51I've got my name on real estate there. Yeah. Mm-hmm. I'm into that.
- 16:56Well, thanks again as always, Don. It's been a privilege, Rowan. Yeah.
- 17:00Thank you guys at Hillcrest for sending in your questions to us and hope you
- 17:05enjoyed it and got the answers you, well, maybe not want to hear,
- 17:10but understand the answers.

- 17:17send it again. We'll try again. Yep.
