- 1:07Speaker 2: the His Hop Radio podcast. As we present verse by verse,
- 1:12Speaker 2: this is our Bible study. We go verse by verse,
- 1:15Speaker 2: chapter by chapter through the way to God together so
- 1:18Speaker 2: that we can understand it. We allow the scriptures to
- 1:22Speaker 2: correct whatever needs to be corrected in our hearts, our minds.
- 1:26Speaker 2: our emotions. God wants us to be a healed people.
- 1:31Speaker 2: God wants us to be a whole people. And that's
- 1:34Speaker 2: what we do right here on the podcast, as well
- 1:39Speaker 2: as know how to fight back against the enemy. The
- 1:43Speaker 2: Bible tells us to renew our minds, right? We allow
- 1:46Speaker 2: the word of God to be our final authority in
- 1:49Speaker 2: the word of God is how Jesus himself one victory
- 1:55Speaker 2: over Satan when he came to tempt him. He told
- 1:58Speaker 2: him it is written. So this is our weapon, our protection,
- 2:02Speaker 2: our healing. Everything we need is found in the word
- 2:09Speaker 2: and in the person of Jesus Christ himself. We must
- 2:14Speaker 2: have a personal, intimate relationship with our savior. And so
- 2:19Speaker 2: that's what we do here on the podcast. We, Encourage,
- 2:22Speaker 2: we help you, we assist you with this process to
- 2:25Speaker 2: get to know Jesus better. Because the Bible tells us

- 4:12Speaker 2: We're going to start chapter 24 today. It's a short chapter,
- 4:18Speaker 2: but we're going to get a lot out of it.
- 4:22Speaker 2: And before we do, let's go before Father. Heavenly Father,
- 4:25Speaker 2: thank you for this platform. Thank you for every person
- 4:33Speaker 2: that this podcast has touched and reached, every person that

- 4:54Speaker 2: you give us the grace and the strength to do so.
- 4:57Speaker 2: We ask that you'll attach a blessing to everyone who follows,
- 5:02Speaker 2: likes and subscribes to this podcast, to this ministry, every
- 5:06Speaker 2: person who downloads the app. every person who comes out
- 5:10Speaker 2: to our events, every person who gets involved. We ask, Lord,
- 5:14Speaker 2: that you bring the destiny helpers. And we ask all
- 5:18Speaker 2: this in Jesus' mighty name. Amen. All right, all right.
- 5:25Speaker 2: There's nothing like the anointing that is just all over us. Amen.
- 5:30Speaker 2: All right, let's get into it. I was thinking about
- 5:36Speaker 2: just doing the first five verses, but I don't know.
- 5:39Speaker 2: I might make this an extended podcast. There's only like
- 5:44Speaker 2: 20 something verses in this chapter. It's kind of short.
- 5:48Speaker 2: So bear with me as we embark on this today.
- 5:54Speaker 2: All right. So Jeremiah chapter 24. And we're going to start.
- 6:06Speaker 2: In verse 1 here. The Lord showed me, and behold,
- 6:16Speaker 2: two baskets of figs were set before the temple of
- 6:20Speaker 2: the Lord. After that, Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, had carried
- 6:26Speaker 2: away captives, Jehoiakim and his son, the son of Jehoiakim,
- 6:35Speaker 2: King of Judah, excuse me for... I know I keep
- 6:37Speaker 2: messing up these names. And the princes of Judah with
- 6:44Speaker 2: the carpenters, the smiths from Jerusalem and he had brought
- 6:51Speaker 2: them to Babylon. So basically, he took all the noble people,
- 7:00Speaker 2: all the skilled workers, Carpenters were very valuable back then.
- 7:05Speaker 2: They're valuable now. Carpenters are the ones who will build
- 7:10Speaker 2: the buildings, build your houses. We all need a place
- 7:13Speaker 2: to dwell. A carpenter position is very important. Jesus himself
- 7:19Speaker 2: was a carpenter. I'm in the trades myself. And I
- 7:27Speaker 2: just want to say something as a side note. I
- 7:31Speaker 2: know that For the past, I don't know, I want
- 7:37Speaker 2: to say past 50 years or so, parents have been
- 7:43Speaker 2: pushing their children to go get college degrees, to go
- 7:48Speaker 2: to school. And there's nothing wrong with education, but they
- 7:52Speaker 2: overlook the trades. You can make a great living if
- 7:58Speaker 2: you learn to trade, if you're good at it, And
- 8:03Speaker 2: you're not in debt while you learn it. You actually
- 8:06Speaker 2: are getting paid to do it. So I don't know.
- 8:09Speaker 2: That's just a side note, just a thought. But these men,
- 8:15Speaker 2: these trade men, these craftsmen, these carpenters were valuable and
- 8:22Speaker 2: they were taken to Babylon. There were some of the
- 8:27Speaker 2: first group to go. All right. Verse two. One basket
- 8:33Speaker 2: had very good figs, even like the figs that are
- 8:38Speaker 2: first ripe. And the other basket had very naughty figs,
- 8:44Speaker 2: which could not be eaten. They were bad. In the
- 8:49Speaker 2: New King James, it said very evil. These figs were evil.
- 8:54Speaker 2: The other figs were good. Verse three. Then said the
- 8:59Speaker 2: Lord unto me, what seest thou? Jeremiah. And I said, Figs,
- 9:07Speaker 2: the good figs, very good, and the evil, very evil,
- 9:12Speaker 2: that cannot be eaten, they are so evil. Again the
- 9:19Speaker 2: word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Thus says
- 9:22Speaker 2: the Lord, the God of Israel, Like these good figs,
- 9:28Speaker 2: so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive
- 9:32Speaker 2: of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place
- 9:37Speaker 2: into the land of the Chaldeans for their good. And man,
- 9:44Speaker 2: we're going to jump into that in a little bit.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Verse six, for I will set my eyes upon them
- 9:50Speaker 2: for good and I will bring them again to this
- 9:54Speaker 2: land and I will build them and not pull them down.
- 10:00Speaker 2: and I will plant them and not pluck them up
- 10:06Speaker 2: verse 7 and I will give them a heart to
- 10:10Speaker 2: know me that I am the Lord and they shall
- 10:14Speaker 2: be my people and I will be their God For
- 10:19Speaker 2: they shall return unto me with their whole heart. Let's
- 10:25Speaker 2: pause right there. Father, we ask that you will give
- 10:28Speaker 2: us a heart to know you. That we shall be
- 10:33Speaker 2: your people, my Lord. And that our hearts will turn
- 10:39Speaker 2: to you wholeheartedly, oh God. We ask that you do it, Lord.
- 10:45Speaker 2: In this podcast, in this episode, everyone listening, oh God,
- 10:49Speaker 2: touch every heart. Let us, oh God, oh Lord, come
- 10:53Speaker 2: out with a new heart, a heart to know you.
- 10:57Speaker 2: In Jesus' name, amen. That is beautiful. That's a memory
- 11:01Speaker 2: verse right there. Verse 8. And as the evil figs,
- 11:08Speaker 2: which cannot be eaten, they are so evil, surely, thus
- 11:12Speaker 2: says the Lord, So I will give Zedekiah, the king
- 11:17Speaker 2: of Judah and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem
- 11:25Speaker 2: that remain in the land, and them that dwell in
- 11:29Speaker 2: the land of Egypt. Verse 9. And I will declare
- 11:44Speaker 2: them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the
- 11:48Speaker 2: earth from their hurt, to be a reproach and a proverb,
- 11:55Speaker 2: a taunt and a curse in all places where I
- 11:59Speaker 2: shall drive them. Verse 10. And I will send the sword,
- 12:04Speaker 2: the famine, the pestilence among them till they be consumed
- 12:10Speaker 2: from off the land that I gave unto them and
- 12:16Speaker 2: to their fathers. Okay. Amen. Let's break it down. We're
- 12:25Speaker 2: just going to do the first 10 verses. I'm coming
- 12:28Speaker 2: at you from the new King James, I mean, the
- 12:32Speaker 2: old King James today. So, verses one through three. Let's
- 12:41Speaker 2: break those down real quick, right? You see the vision, right?
- 12:45Speaker 2: God gives Jeremiah the vision. And his vision came right
- 12:52Speaker 2: after the departing of the kings, King Jehoiakim. Also, in scripture,
- 13:02Speaker 2: they call him Jehoiachin. And many leaders and skilled workers
- 13:09Speaker 2: from Judah to Babylon Now, this was the first captivity
- 13:18Speaker 2: that came out of the city. Now, the vision also
- 13:27Speaker 2: represents two contrasting baskets of figs, right? One containing good
- 13:32Speaker 2: fruit and the other containing fruit that is evil, completely spoiled.
- 13:40Speaker 2: So God uses these ordinary images to communicate a spiritual
- 13:45Speaker 2: truth about two different groups of people and their destinies,
- 13:50Speaker 2: their future. What is going to happen to these two
- 13:54Speaker 2: groups of people? You need to be aware of what
- 13:58Speaker 2: group of people that you hang out with, because there
- 14:03Speaker 2: is a destiny. There's a destination for each group. We
- 14:09Speaker 2: need to be in the right group. Amen. So let's
- 14:16Speaker 2: put this in historical context real quick, right? Judah had
- 14:19Speaker 2: been rebelling against God for generations. They would not listen
- 14:25Speaker 2: to the word of the Lord. As a matter of fact,
- 14:27Speaker 2: in the next chapter, we're going to look at the timeline.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Jeremiah started prophesying at the age of 17 and he
- 14:37Speaker 2: prophesied for 20 years. years like 20-25 years and they
- 14:43Speaker 2: did not take heed to the message at all the
- 14:48Speaker 2: Lord had sent prophets to warn the people but many
- 14:53Speaker 2: refused to listen so Babylon was becoming the instrument through
- 15:00Speaker 2: which God's judgment would come upon the nation did you
- 15:04Speaker 2: imagine hearing a message for 20 years get right, get right,
- 15:09Speaker 2: get right. And then finally, what happens is our hearts
- 15:12Speaker 2: get hard or we get to the point where we
- 15:16Speaker 2: think we're familiar. Oh, I've heard that before. Oh yeah,
- 15:20Speaker 2: I know what they're going to say. I know what
- 15:21Speaker 2: that's all about. Yeah, I've heard it before. I've done that.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Never surrender or giving your life over to the Lord
- 15:30Speaker 2: and then finding yourself in judgment. And it's not just
- 15:36Speaker 2: Israel that We're going to find out in the next
- 15:38Speaker 2: chapter that the whole world is going to be judged.
- 15:41Speaker 2: But we'll save that for our next other episode. All right.
- 15:48Speaker 2: So judgment will come upon the nation in this particular deportation.
- 16:02Speaker 2: You have the king, you have members of the royal family,
- 16:05Speaker 2: you have leaders, you have skilled workers. They were all
- 16:11Speaker 2: taken to Babylon, yet the people who remained in Jerusalem
- 16:16Speaker 2: might have looked at those captives and assumed that they
- 16:20Speaker 2: were unfortunate.
- 16:25Speaker 4: Right?
- 16:27Speaker 2: While those still living in their homes We're in better positions.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Would you say that? Now, this is where we got
- 16:41Speaker 2: to look at things in a spiritual lens. Sometimes we
- 16:46Speaker 2: look at the outward situation of a person and think
- 16:50Speaker 2: that this person may be unfortunate. We can even get
- 16:55Speaker 2: prideful and think that we're better off, that we're better,
- 16:59Speaker 2: smarter than in a better position because we have a
- 17:03Speaker 2: bigger home, a better car, more money, and we're living
- 17:07Speaker 2: comfortably while other people are struggling and suffering. But spiritually,
- 17:12Speaker 2: you could be the one that is getting fattened for
- 17:14Speaker 2: the slaughter. The comfortable people, I believe, are the people
- 17:20Speaker 2: who are in more danger because we are in a
- 17:23Speaker 2: spiritual war. Right? When you go to buy a steak,
- 17:35Speaker 2: you want the one that is most juicy, the biggest,
- 17:39Speaker 2: the fattest steak. And a lot of people who are comfortable,
- 17:44Speaker 2: they just get big, they get fat. Now I'm talking
- 17:48Speaker 2: about fat people because I got pounds to lose myself,
- 17:50Speaker 2: but you know what I mean? It's like they're just
- 17:53Speaker 2: comfortable and they think everything in life is to make
- 17:58Speaker 2: them comfortable, but spiritually... they're in danger. Now, even though
- 18:10Speaker 2: this group of people went into captivity and they seem
- 18:14Speaker 2: to be the ones that are in trouble, God shows
- 18:20Speaker 2: Jeremiah something different. Now, one basket contained good figs representing
- 18:26Speaker 2: people God would preserve, and ultimately restore. The other contained
- 18:34Speaker 2: bad figs representing people who would face future judgment. I
- 18:42Speaker 2: cleaned up. We did some yard work the other day
- 18:46Speaker 2: at the house. And I have an area on the
- 18:50Speaker 2: side of the house where there's dirt, there's rocks. This
- 18:54Speaker 2: is where we put our trash cans out. And sometimes
- 18:59Speaker 2: trash and debris will fall out of the cans and
- 19:03Speaker 2: whatnot before garbage day gets here. And we have to
- 19:06Speaker 2: go out and rake it up. And so my method
- 19:08Speaker 2: was instead of trying to pick the trash out of
- 19:12Speaker 2: the rocks, I just raked everything to the driveway. Dirt, rocks, trash,
- 19:18Speaker 2: I raked it all. Now, while they're in the driveway,
- 19:23Speaker 2: it was easier to pick the trash out. I was
- 19:25Speaker 2: able to sweep the rocks away from the trash. I
- 19:29Speaker 2: was able to isolate and separate the trash from the
- 19:32Speaker 2: rocks and the dirt. So the trash I got rid of,
- 19:37Speaker 2: I threw in the trash can. Then I swept the
- 19:40Speaker 2: rocks and the dirt back into the yard. This is
- 19:46Speaker 2: exactly what the Lord did with the nation. He swept
- 19:52Speaker 2: away the good figs were the people that he was
- 19:57Speaker 2: going to restore and he separated the bad figs. The
- 20:01Speaker 2: ones that were going to judgment ultimately would find their
- 20:06Speaker 2: destination in hell. We need to talk about hell and
- 20:09Speaker 2: more often, beloved, because there's people who don't even believe
- 20:13Speaker 2: it exists. But if we warn you, then you will
- 20:18Speaker 2: have a better opportunity to avoid going there than trying
- 20:23Speaker 2: to be hush-hush about it, right? So here's the first lesson.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Your circumstances do not always tell the full story of
- 20:32Speaker 2: what God is doing in your life. You may be
- 20:36Speaker 2: going through difficult circumstances, but There could be some good
- 20:41Speaker 2: that God wants to work out for you. Someone can
- 20:45Speaker 2: be going through a difficult season and still be under
- 20:48Speaker 2: God's care and someone else can appear comfortable and even
- 20:55Speaker 2: successful while ignoring God's warnings. That's why even when you're
- 21:01Speaker 2: looking for a church, you cannot judge the church because
- 21:05Speaker 2: it may be a big church. There's a lot of
- 21:09Speaker 2: members there. We call them the mega churches, right? Because
- 21:15Speaker 2: it's a mega church does not necessarily mean that God
- 21:19Speaker 2: is there and that God is moving. The pastor could
- 21:22Speaker 2: be resisting God on every side. So we need to
- 21:28Speaker 2: pray and ask God for discernment. So we cannot assume
- 21:38Speaker 2: that every hardship is punishment or that every blessing proves
- 21:47Speaker 2: a person is walking faithfully with God. The important question
- 21:55Speaker 2: is not simply how comfortable is my life? The deeper
- 21:59Speaker 2: question is, am I responding to God when he Is
- 22:05Speaker 2: calling me? And do I have a heart that is
- 22:08Speaker 2: willing to obey? That's the question that we need to
- 22:14Speaker 2: ask ourselves. Now, verse four through five is the captivity
- 22:20Speaker 2: for the good. Now, God explains the meaning of the
- 22:28Speaker 2: good figs. And I think this is. A very good practice.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Will we receive a word, a vision, a dream? Ask
- 22:38Speaker 2: God to explain the meaning to us. Hey man, I
- 22:43Speaker 2: just had a dream last night. I'm going to ask
- 22:46Speaker 2: God about it. Ask God, what is the meaning behind
- 22:53Speaker 2: the dream? And I believe that God will give the explanations.
- 22:59Speaker 2: And so he explains the people who had been carried
- 23:02Speaker 2: into Babylon, the captivity, those who are captives would not
- 23:08Speaker 2: be abandoned by God. God would acknowledge them and watch
- 23:12Speaker 2: over them. Their removal from Judah, though it was painful,
- 23:18Speaker 2: would serve a purpose within his plan for their future. Now,
- 23:27Speaker 2: remember this group, would also have Daniel and the three
- 23:34Speaker 2: Hebrew boys, right? And look at the great witness that
- 23:39Speaker 2: Daniel was for the Lord. Look at all that Daniel
- 23:42Speaker 2: did for the kingdom. And the Hebrew boys that were,
- 23:47Speaker 2: they renamed them Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. But they have
- 23:52Speaker 2: an amazing story, if you've not read it, where Nebuchadnezzar
- 23:58Speaker 2: threw them in the fiery furnace But they did not
- 24:02Speaker 2: get burnt. Only the ropes were burned. And God preserved them.
- 24:09Speaker 4: Amen.
- 24:09Speaker 2: And so sometimes it could be for your good, even
- 24:15Speaker 2: though it's uncomfortable. And I think about the history of
- 24:21Speaker 2: the United States. There's no secret that there was slavery
- 24:28Speaker 2: in this country. And the majority of it was black Africans.
- 24:34Speaker 5: Right.
- 24:35Speaker 2: They were taken out of Africa. Even though slavery is
- 24:39Speaker 2: not fun and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. But
- 24:43Speaker 2: has anyone ever thought that it may have been for
- 24:46Speaker 2: our good to come to this country? Because we know
- 24:51Speaker 2: that in Africa, they were worshiping idols and false gods.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Witchcraft is rampant out there. even though even now there's
- 25:01Speaker 2: been great movements of Christianity, praise God. But what, 200
- 25:07Speaker 2: years ago, who knows what kind of wickedness was just
- 25:13Speaker 2: running rampant on that continent. And so if you look spiritually,
- 25:18Speaker 2: while America was having revival, God didn't want us to
- 25:22Speaker 2: be left out. And that's my opinion. I'm not saying
- 25:27Speaker 2: it's scripture or biblical. I'm not saying that I have
- 25:30Speaker 2: a revelation. But I am all for going through a
- 25:38Speaker 2: difficult circumstance if God is going to bring something good
- 25:44Speaker 2: out of it for our eternal benefit. Amen. And I
- 25:52Speaker 2: hope you're on the same page with me.
- 26:00Speaker 3: It looks like you lost another one.
- 26:01Speaker 4: Amen.
- 26:02Speaker 2: So we have to pay attention to the surprising words
- 26:06Speaker 2: in verse five. God says he sent these captives away
- 26:11Speaker 2: for their good. That's my very point. I mean, it
- 26:19Speaker 2: doesn't mean that captivity was pleasant. It meant that God
- 26:23Speaker 2: will use even this painful situation to accomplish his very purposes. Now,
- 26:33Speaker 2: imagine being forced to leave your home. You have to
- 26:36Speaker 2: leave your community, leaving your family. You might wonder whether
- 26:45Speaker 2: God had forgotten you. I can imagine the tears and
- 26:50Speaker 2: the outcry. Yet, God was telling these captives that their
- 26:59Speaker 2: story was not over. Now, keep in mind, these are
- 27:06Speaker 2: the good figs. Sometimes, the righteous are going to go
- 27:14Speaker 2: through more things than the wicked. Sometimes we struggle because
- 27:25Speaker 2: we measure God's goodness by how quickly he changes our circumstances.
- 27:31Speaker 2: We pray for the door to open, for the problem
- 27:35Speaker 2: to disappear, or even the difficult season to end. And
- 27:40Speaker 2: when it doesn't happen, we may wonder whether God is
- 27:43Speaker 2: still with us, right? So this passage reminds us that
- 27:49Speaker 2: God's purpose can extend beyond our immediate comfort. Let me
- 27:58Speaker 2: say that again. God's purpose can extend beyond our immediate comfort.
- 28:09Speaker 2: We want instant relief. We want to be comfortable with
- 28:17Speaker 2: And God's purpose may not include that at the moment. However,
- 28:24Speaker 2: we must be careful not to apply this verse as
- 28:28Speaker 2: a blanket promise to every painful event.
- 28:35Speaker 4: Right?
- 28:36Speaker 2: Just because you're going through something does not mean it's
- 28:39Speaker 2: going to lead to a reward or God is going
- 28:42Speaker 2: to do something good. There could be something else attached
- 28:46Speaker 2: to it. Jeremiah was delivering a specific message about Judah's exiles.
- 28:54Speaker 2: The broader lesson is that God can remain at work
- 28:58Speaker 2: even when our circumstances are painful and confusing. And I've
- 29:04Speaker 2: been there so many times, more often than I would
- 29:08Speaker 2: like to be.
- 29:08Speaker 4: Amen.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Amen. So a difficult season doesn't mean God has abandoned you.
- 29:14Speaker 2: Keep seeking him even in the midst of it, obeying
- 29:18Speaker 2: his word and trusting him even when you cannot yet
- 29:22Speaker 2: see the outcome. Verse six, I will build them and
- 29:29Speaker 2: not pull them down. So God promises to watch over
- 29:34Speaker 2: the exiles. He promised to restore them and to establish them.
- 29:40Speaker 2: once again. Now, the language of building and planting communicates stability, renewal,
- 29:50Speaker 2: and a future beyond their present circumstances. Hallelujah. I love it.
- 29:57Speaker 2: I pray that the Lord will speak over us, every
- 30:00Speaker 2: one of us living, well, living, every one of us
- 30:05Speaker 2: listening to this podcast. Yeah, you got to be living too, amen,
- 30:09Speaker 2: in order to listen, but everyone listening to this podcast,
- 30:13Speaker 2: I speak building, planting, renewal, stability, and all of our futures, amen,
- 30:25Speaker 2: as we Listen and apply the word. Now, God always
- 30:34Speaker 2: gives wonderful promises in the Bible. This promise is powerful.
- 30:39Speaker 2: It's a promise of restoration. How many of us need
- 30:44Speaker 2: the restoration, the restoring grace of God in our lives? Amen.
- 30:52Speaker 2: So God says that he will build rather than pull down.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Implant rather than uproot. The people who had lost their
- 31:01Speaker 2: homeland were being told that their present circumstances will not
- 31:06Speaker 2: have the final word. Hallelujah. And that's encouraging. That's encouraging
- 31:14Speaker 2: because I don't know about y'all, but I'm getting ministered
- 31:17Speaker 2: to because I've been going through. I've been going through circumstances.
- 31:23Speaker 2: I've been having a season. of my own, and it
- 31:29Speaker 2: has been prolonged. I'm not where I would like to be,
- 31:34Speaker 2: at least in my own eyes, but God, he sees
- 31:39Speaker 2: something different. So you got to notice the timing and
- 31:46Speaker 2: the context. This promise concerned God's plan for the exiles
- 31:50Speaker 2: of Judah. It was not a guarantee that every believer
- 31:54Speaker 2: will receive every earthly possession back or experience an immediate turnaround.
- 32:03Speaker 2: The principle is that God is able to preserve his
- 32:06Speaker 2: people and carry forward his purpose even after devastating loss.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Even if we have to lose, God is still able
- 32:19Speaker 2: to to restore, amen, to rebuild what the world has
- 32:27Speaker 2: destroyed in our lives, amen. So maybe you've been experiencing
- 32:33Speaker 2: a season when something you depended on was taken away
- 32:38Speaker 2: from you, right? Maybe you had a plan and it
- 32:45Speaker 2: fell apart. Maybe you had a relationship that could have
- 32:51Speaker 2: been a spouse or a friend or someone that you
- 32:57Speaker 2: really cared about in a relationship ended. Maybe it was
- 33:03Speaker 2: opportunity that you were counting on and the opportunity ended
- 33:08Speaker 2: up disappearing. Now, I'm going to say one thing, beloved.
- 33:18Speaker 2: We do not have to pretend like it doesn't hurt.
- 33:23Speaker 2: We need to acknowledge the hurt to our Heavenly Father.
- 33:27Speaker 2: And when I'm hurt and beloved, I've been going through
- 33:30Speaker 2: some hurtful circumstances lately. But I've learned to cry out
- 33:35Speaker 2: for healing because if we don't get healed, our hearts
- 33:38Speaker 2: can start to get hardened. The circumstance can start to
- 33:43Speaker 2: affect us to where we're short with people. We're rude
- 33:47Speaker 2: with people. We're not loving. Our love will begin to
- 33:51Speaker 2: be sapped out. The Bible tells us to love even
- 33:56Speaker 2: our enemies. Amen. So our faith, it doesn't require us
- 34:04Speaker 2: to deny the reality of the situation. Instead, we can
- 34:07Speaker 2: bring our pain to God and remain open to what
- 34:11Speaker 2: he wants to teach us in the moment. Sometimes restoration
- 34:16Speaker 2: means circumstances changes. And sometimes God rebuilds our character. Strengthen
- 34:26Speaker 2: our faith and redirect our steps. We should not dictate
- 34:33Speaker 2: the exact form that God's work will take, right? You
- 34:41Speaker 2: shouldn't say, God, if you don't do it this way,
- 34:44Speaker 2: I will be disappointed. You need to be open to
- 34:49Speaker 2: the working of the Lord. We need to trust his
- 34:54Speaker 2: wisdom and remain faithful while he leads us. Verse seven,
- 35:02Speaker 2: a heart to know God. Now, this is beautiful right here. Now,
- 35:08Speaker 2: the promise goes deeper than a physical return to the land.
- 35:13Speaker 2: God says that he will give his people a heart
- 35:16Speaker 2: to know him. The restoration would involve a renewed relationship
- 35:24Speaker 2: with him. So maybe you lost that car, that house,
- 35:31Speaker 2: that job. And God has blessed you with a better car,
- 35:37Speaker 2: a better house and a better job. It is all
- 35:40Speaker 2: worthless if you don't have a renewed heart to have
- 35:45Speaker 2: a relationship with him. Right. Right. That is the best
- 35:50Speaker 2: restoration that we could have. And to return to him wholeheartedly.
- 35:57Speaker 2: For me, this is the heart of the entire passage
- 36:01Speaker 2: right here. This is the heart of this entire episode.
- 36:06Speaker 2: God doesn't merely promise to relocate the people. He promises
- 36:10Speaker 2: to work on their hearts. That is so beautiful. And
- 36:15Speaker 2: we need to ask the Lord to work on our
- 36:17Speaker 2: hearts every day. single day. So listen to what he says,
- 36:24Speaker 2: and I will give them a heart to know me
- 36:28Speaker 2: that I am the Lord. The ultimate need of Judah
- 36:33Speaker 2: was not simply a better political situation or a return
- 36:39Speaker 2: to normal. The deepest need was a right relationship with God. Hallelujah.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Can we say this about the United States of America?
- 36:55Speaker 2: We hear so much about the dollar is going to decrease,
- 37:00Speaker 2: is no longer going to be the world standard, or
- 37:03Speaker 2: let's make America great again. We hear all of these things,
- 37:08Speaker 2: but the greatest thing that we need is a heart
- 37:11Speaker 2: to know the Lord. America needs to get back in
- 37:16Speaker 2: right relationship with God. That is so true for us today.
- 37:23Speaker 2: We can spend all our energy asking God to change
- 37:28Speaker 2: our circumstances while ignoring the condition of our very own heart. Lord,
- 37:36Speaker 2: fix my finances. Lord, change my workplace. Lord, remove this
- 37:42Speaker 2: difficult person from my life. Those prayers may express real
- 37:49Speaker 2: needs that we have. And we can bring them to God,
- 37:54Speaker 2: which is not a problem at all. But we should
- 37:57Speaker 2: also pray, Lord, change me. That's a t-shirt right there.
- 38:05Speaker 2: Teach me to know you more deeply. Show me where
- 38:11Speaker 2: I need to repent. Help me follow you with my
- 38:15Speaker 2: whole heart. heart. Amen. That is good. I think I'm
- 38:22Speaker 2: going to post this in our community so that we
- 38:28Speaker 2: can add this to our prayer list. This is beautiful.
- 38:38Speaker 2: So notice that verse seven describes a restored relationship. They
- 38:42Speaker 2: shall be my people and I will be their God.
- 38:46Speaker 2: This is about belonging to the Lord and returning to
- 38:51Speaker 2: him wholeheartedly. And I would do a word search on
- 38:57Speaker 2: that word wholeheartedly because this is what God desires. He
- 39:01Speaker 2: desires our whole hearts whole. So what does that mean?
- 39:06Speaker 2: That means we can give half our heart. We can
- 39:08Speaker 2: give a portion. We can give a piece. But God
- 39:12Speaker 2: wants the whole thing. So we need to examine. Maybe
- 39:16Speaker 2: we'll do a study on giving our hearts holy to him. Now,
- 39:22Speaker 2: maybe we're going to do that, a blog or something.
- 39:29Speaker 2: So for Christians today, also reminds us of the importance
- 39:34Speaker 2: of the new covenant and the transforming work of God
- 39:40Speaker 2: in our hearts right we cannot reduce faith to outward
- 39:47Speaker 2: religious activity God desires genuine trust, obedience, and a sincere
- 39:57Speaker 2: relationship with Him. It's not about religion. It's about relationship.
- 40:03Speaker 2: Just think about how amazing it is to have a
- 40:06Speaker 2: relationship with Almighty God. He wants to sit with us.
- 40:11Speaker 2: He wants to speak with us. He wants to teach us.
- 40:15Speaker 2: And He deserves our whole heart. Amen. There's nothing on
- 40:19Speaker 2: earth That is worthy to give our hearts over to.
- 40:23Speaker 2: Other than the Lord. He's not merely interested in changing.
- 40:30Speaker 2: What surrounds us. He wants to change our hearts. Verse 8.
- 40:39Speaker 2: The bad figs. In King Zedekiah. Now, God identifies the
- 40:50Speaker 2: bad figs with King Zedekiah, his officials, those remaining in Jerusalem,
- 40:57Speaker 2: and people living in Egypt. Their outward location did not
- 41:04Speaker 2: guarantee safety at all. The group that remained behind would
- 41:09Speaker 2: face consequences of continued rebellion and God's Announce judgment on
- 41:19Speaker 2: the land. Now I think about the rapture, right? There
- 41:25Speaker 2: is a group of people who will be left behind.
- 41:28Speaker 2: And I think that we could take a look at
- 41:32Speaker 2: this passage and we could identify those who were left behind.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Those who are in constant rebellion against the Lord. What
- 41:43Speaker 2: has the Lord been telling you to do that you
- 41:45Speaker 2: have not done yet? Oh, beloved, this is convicting even
- 41:50Speaker 2: for me. Right. God takes rebellion seriously. He looks at
- 41:56Speaker 2: it as a sin of witchcraft and divination. God loves obedience.
- 42:04Speaker 2: He blesses obedience. Amen. So here is where the vision
- 42:13Speaker 2: will challenge our assumptions, right? The people who remain in
- 42:19Speaker 2: Judah might have believed that they were better off than
- 42:23Speaker 2: those that have been taken to Babylon. They were still
- 42:27Speaker 2: in the land. They had not been forced into exile
- 42:31Speaker 2: during that particular departation. They still lived in their own houses.
- 42:39Speaker 2: They were still amongst familiar surroundings, but God reveals that
- 42:47Speaker 2: remaining in Jerusalem did not automatically mean they were in
- 42:51Speaker 2: a better spiritual position. The king would later rebel against
- 42:59Speaker 2: Babylon and Jerusalem would face further destruction. The remaining population
- 43:09Speaker 2: would experience the consequences of the nation's continued disobedience. We
- 43:21Speaker 2: should not confuse familiarity with faithfulness. A person can be
- 43:28Speaker 2: in a church every Sunday and still refuse to obey God.
- 43:32Speaker 2: Someone can have a ministry title. and still need repentance.
- 43:39Speaker 2: A person can appear successful while neglecting the condition of
- 43:45Speaker 2: their own heart. Remember, the Bible tells us to guard
- 43:48Speaker 2: our hearts for out of it are the issues of life. Likewise,
- 43:56Speaker 2: we must not judge someone who is suffering as though
- 44:02Speaker 2: we know the reason of their hardship. Now, the point
- 44:09Speaker 2: of the two baskets is not that we can look
- 44:13Speaker 2: at people and declare who God favors. God reveals the
- 44:20Speaker 2: meaning of this vision. We should not pretend we have
- 44:29Speaker 2: the same specific revelation about everyone around us. Our responsibility
- 44:38Speaker 2: is to examine our own selves in this. Stay close
- 44:42Speaker 2: to the scripture and to respond faithfully to the Lord.
- 44:54Speaker 2: Verse 9. Reproach among the nations. So God warns that
- 45:05Speaker 2: the people representing the bad figs would become a source
- 45:10Speaker 2: of disgrace and ridicule amongst the nations. Their rebellion would
- 45:17Speaker 2: bring consequences that would be visible beyond Judah itself. Now
- 45:26Speaker 2: that is strong. See, sin rarely affects only the person
- 45:33Speaker 2: that commits it. So we have to think of our
- 45:37Speaker 2: loved ones, our family members, when we are tempted to
- 45:41Speaker 2: give in to that sin. Maybe it's lust, pornography, or drugs,
- 45:47Speaker 2: or alcohol. Whatever you're tempted to, take a second and
- 45:52Speaker 2: think about the people that you are going to hurt.
- 45:56Speaker 2: Your wife, your children, and especially your children coming after
- 46:01Speaker 2: you because the children... They tend to pick up the
- 46:04Speaker 2: sins of their parents and they go further in it.
- 46:12Speaker 2: When leaders reject truth, the people under their influence can suffer.
- 46:23Speaker 2: When someone uses their authority in a selfish way, others
- 46:27Speaker 2: may pay the price for that. When a nation continually
- 46:32Speaker 2: rejects God's warnings, the consequences can reach across the entire community.
- 46:40Speaker 2: That's why we need to pay for our leaders. We
- 46:42Speaker 2: need to pray for our president. We need to lift
- 46:47Speaker 2: up the United States. Amen. So the same principles apply
- 46:55Speaker 2: to Christian leadership. When a pastor, a ministry leader, a
- 47:00Speaker 2: Christian artist or a public believer behaving in hypocrisy or hypocritically,
- 47:08Speaker 2: it can damage trust and have people depart from the faith.
- 47:19Speaker 2: Or they can have a distorted picture of faith to
- 47:23Speaker 2: where they don't even want anything to do with faith.
- 47:27Speaker 2: We've seen this happen in generation after generation right but
- 47:34Speaker 2: that does not mean that every accusation against a christian
- 47:39Speaker 2: is true at all or that our goal should be
- 47:44Speaker 2: to maintain appearances at all costs our responsibility is to
- 47:49Speaker 2: live with integrity acknowledge our failures repent when necessarily and
- 47:58Speaker 2: represent Christ faithfully. That's why I share very transparently on
- 48:07Speaker 2: this podcast the areas where I struggle. That's why it's
- 48:12Speaker 2: good to have that accountability partner as well. We cannot
- 48:19Speaker 2: control every opinion that people may have about us, but
- 48:22Speaker 2: we can control whether We pursue honesty, humility, and obedience.
- 48:29Speaker 2: We can control our response. So let us not bring
- 48:37Speaker 2: disaster to God's name through stubbornness or hypocrisy. All right.
- 48:45Speaker 2: The last verse, verse 10, the consequences of continued rebellion, right?
- 48:55Speaker 2: the chapter concludes with God's warning of a sword of
- 49:01Speaker 2: a famine and of pestilence. That's a threefold warning right there.
- 49:06Speaker 2: We need to pay attention to this. These judgments would
- 49:10Speaker 2: continue against the rebellious people until the land was devastated. Wow.
- 49:20Speaker 2: So the warning emphasizes the seriousness of persistently rejecting God's correction.
- 49:32Speaker 2: So this final verse is very sobering. God had warned
- 49:36Speaker 2: Judah repeatedly Like I said, Jeremiah had like a 20-year ministry.
- 49:44Speaker 2: And the people had opportunity to listen. They had the
- 49:50Speaker 2: opportunity to repent and turn back to God. Yet the
- 49:54Speaker 2: nation continued to rebel. And so judgment followed. So we
- 50:01Speaker 2: shouldn't read this as though every modern hardship is direct
- 50:08Speaker 2: punishment from God. This was a specific judgment against Judah
- 50:14Speaker 2: in a particular historical setting. But the principle still remains.
- 50:21Speaker 2: We should never mistake God's patience for permission to continue
- 50:27Speaker 2: in our rebellion. God's warnings are not given just to
- 50:35Speaker 2: simply frighten us. They reveal the seriousness of sin and
- 50:44Speaker 2: the need to return to him. Sin can deceive us.
- 50:52Speaker 2: And we can think it's not a big deal. A
- 50:54Speaker 2: lot of people think that they can handle it when
- 50:57Speaker 2: God says don't have nothing to do with it. So
- 51:04Speaker 2: when the scripture exposes something in our lives that we
- 51:07Speaker 2: need to get right, At that point, we have a choice.
- 51:12Speaker 2: We can become defensive. We can make excuses and continue
- 51:21Speaker 2: because we think that God will excuse it or wink
- 51:29Speaker 2: at it. Or we can humble ourselves and repent and
- 51:33Speaker 2: turn from it. Correction can be the opportunity to change.
- 51:42Speaker 2: So don't wait until the consequences become overwhelming before you
- 51:48Speaker 2: take God's words seriously. Respond while there is still an
- 51:53Speaker 2: opportunity to make things right. To make a difference. Amen.
- 52:02Speaker 2: God sees beyond the surface. So. Key things that we
- 52:07Speaker 2: can take away from today's podcast. Do not measure God's
- 52:13Speaker 2: work by outward circumstances. God desires a changed heart, not
- 52:22Speaker 2: merely changed circumstances. We need to take God's warning seriously.
- 52:31Speaker 2: Our job is not to label everybody around us. Our
- 52:35Speaker 2: job is to seek God, obey his word, and allow
- 52:41Speaker 2: him to shape our lives. Amen? I can't believe that.
- 52:48Speaker 2: We just got through all 10 verses. Now it's time
- 52:54Speaker 2: for a break, beloved.
- 52:58Speaker 3: You are listening to The Light of Las Vegas. This
- 53:01Speaker 3: is the HizHop Radio Show. I'll see you next time.

- 55:22Speaker 3: is the HizHop Radio Show.
- 55:40Speaker 2: Yo, we are back from the break. Thank you for
- 55:43Speaker 2: hanging out with us a little longer. This was kind
- 55:46Speaker 2: of an extended episode because the chapter was kind of short.
- 55:53Speaker 2: And I wanted to get through a lot of it.
- 55:57Speaker 2: That was Childlike CC with Head High on the musical break.
- 56:02Speaker 2: I'm your brother, Mr. His Hop. And I want to
- 56:05Speaker 2: give a shout out to the live chat. Shout out
- 56:08Speaker 2: to our brother Zone 3. Shout out to our brother Corinth.
- 56:12Speaker 2: What's up, brother? I saw your messages, man. You was
- 56:14Speaker 2: blowing it up the other day. Nah, I wasn't talking
- 56:19Speaker 2: to myself in the live chat. I accidentally... typed my
- 56:23Speaker 2: name in the live chat as if I was talking
- 56:26Speaker 2: to me. That was just a typo, brother, but I
- 56:29Speaker 2: appreciate y'all. Now it's time for the accountability partner segment.
- 56:36Speaker 2: So if you're in the live chat, head on over
- 56:39Speaker 2: to the community. It's right there in the top left menu.
- 56:43Speaker 2: Hit that drop down, click on community. Get registered in

- 56:55Speaker 2: We tell you to call, text or email your accountability
- 56:58Speaker 2: partner and allow them to speak into your life. Allow
- 57:02Speaker 2: them to correct you. The idea of it is to say,
- 57:06Speaker 2: you know what was in your heart does not line
- 57:09Speaker 2: up with the word. And then bring the scripture right
- 57:14Speaker 2: to replace your thoughts, to replace what is trying to
- 57:19Speaker 2: occupy our hearts. We just read that the Lord wants
- 57:23Speaker 2: our whole heart. There's no room for the enemy. Amen.
- 57:28Speaker 2: At all. So we pray for each other. We confess
- 57:31Speaker 2: to one another so that we may be healed. And
- 57:36Speaker 2: I give you challenges on each episode. Some topics you
- 57:41Speaker 2: can use to talk about. These are just suggestions. If
- 57:44Speaker 2: there's other issues in your life you need to talk about,
- 57:47Speaker 2: definitely talk about those. But Our challenge is this. Check
- 57:55Speaker 2: the fruit and examine the heart. Take some time this
- 58:00Speaker 2: week to answer these three questions and answer them honestly.
- 58:04Speaker 2: Have I been judging my spiritual life by whether things
- 58:09Speaker 2: are going well or bad? Am I asking God only
- 58:14Speaker 2: to change my circumstances or am I also asking him
- 58:18Speaker 2: to change my heart? Is there an area where God
- 58:24Speaker 2: has been correcting me, but I have been resisting that correction?
- 58:33Speaker 2: So discuss this, pray. Remember, it always works with integrity.
- 58:40Speaker 5: Amen.
- 58:44Speaker 2: And that will help you in your spiritual growth. All right, well,
- 58:53Speaker 2: let's head on over to the community once again so
- 59:01Speaker 2: that we can go over the trivia challenge. And we
- 59:07Speaker 2: have a question. concerning today's episode which king of Judah
- 59:15Speaker 2: does God specifically identify among those represented by the bad
- 59:22Speaker 2: figs let me ask it again which king of Judah.
- 59:27Speaker 4: Does God Specifically identify among those represented by the bad things.
- 59:38Speaker 2: Now you know how we do the first to get
- 59:40Speaker 2: it right. Here's the trivia champion for today. Shout out
- 59:44Speaker 2: to our brother Zone 3. Who keeps holding it down.
- 59:49Speaker 2: We appreciate you brother. Amen. Alright now. It's time for
- 59:58Speaker 2: our community shout out. This is where we give you
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: updates of our events, things we got going. We just
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: had an amazing event last Saturday with the mayor of
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: Henderson and other elected officials. We had judges, councilmen, councilwomen,
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: people who are running for office. They all came out
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: and partnered with Rise Up Church. And we had other
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: vendors that came out. We came as the DJ. We
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: provided the service and the sound. Shout out to our
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: sound man over there, Joe. Shout out to our brother
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: D for connecting us with this event. It was great.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: It was a blessing. I learned some stuff as well
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: as a DJ. Where to position the speakers better. And
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: there's some chords that I want to get an ad
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: to my equipment. Our next event coming up is this Saturday.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: We'll be working with Metro Police Department once again. And
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: it's going to be a trunk or treat type of event.
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: We'll be DJing. We'll have our photo booth out there
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: as well. And so we'll give you more information. It's
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: not on the calendar because I don't want people To
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: get confused, we do not at all support Halloween. We
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: do not participate in trunk retreats and stuff like that.
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: But we go to minister. There is still a group
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: of people that are gathering. There are still seeds that
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: can be planted. Of course, we're going to be playing
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: the CHH while the people are showing up. So, yeah,
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: if you want to pull up and you have a
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: heart to minister, hit us up in the live chat. Also,
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: we want to let you know that His Hot Radio
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: is a monitored and a reporting radio station. Submit your
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: music to our website, hishotnation.com and check out our promo packages.
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: And also, His Hot Nation is a 501c3. We opened
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: up a Christian club in 2012. We're looking for a
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: new building. We're looking for grants, grant writers. We're looking
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: for those who will support us on a monthly basis.
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: If you believe that this is good ground to sow into,
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: you can donate on our website, HisHotNation.com or on our
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: nonprofit site, HisHotNation.org or you can download the app and
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: do it that way. His Hot Radio on all platforms. Amen.
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: With that being said... Let's close it out today. So
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: the people carried away to Babylon looked like they had
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: lost everything, yet God had a purpose for them still.
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: Those who remained in Judah might have believed that they
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: were secure, but their continued rebellion would bring further destruction.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: Judgment upon them. Future judgment. So the lesson is not
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: that we can look at someone's circumstance and determine whether
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: they are good figs or bad figs. The lesson is
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: that God sees the whole picture. And we must take
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: his word seriously. Amen. Don't spend all your time asking
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: God to change your situation. And at the same time,
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: you are ignoring your own heart. Ask him to help
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: you know him more deeply, to obey him more faithfully
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: and to return to him wholeheartedly. Amen. Like I said,
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: I'm going through something myself and I'm going to apply
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: this myself. So let's pray out today. Heavenly Father, we
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: just give you our difficult relationships, our difficult circumstances, financially, physically, mentally,
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: whatever we may be struggling with, the people under the
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: sound of my voice, whatever they may be struggling with.
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: Oh Lord, yes, we do want better circumstances. We want
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: to be in a better situation, whether it be a
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: better job, whether it be a better house, a car.
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: We do have some legitimate needs, Lord, but we also acknowledge,
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: more importantly, is we need our hearts to be renewed
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: and restored. We need our hearts to be touched. We
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: need to seek you wholeheartedly, so we ask for your
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: grace and your strength. We ask for faithfulness and consistently
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: to give you first place in our hearts, Lord. Nothing
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: else matters, Lord. We ask, Lord, help us to guard
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: our hearts for out of it are the issues of life,
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: oh God. No matter what we're going through, help us
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: to forgive, help us to love. We need your grace,
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: oh God, that we will not be shaken. We ask
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: this in Jesus' name, amen. And remember, it's not about us.
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: It's all about the Christ in us. God bless y'all.
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: You are listening to the light of Las Vegas. This
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: is the His Hop Radio Show.
