- 1:11SPEAKER_02: He later founded AutomateBoring.net, which he helped

- 1:36SPEAKER_02: When he's not formulating mushroom-based remedies,
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: you'll find him cycling or RVing across the US with his psychic,
- 1:43SPEAKER_02: Bailey,
- 1:43SPEAKER_02: the world's sassiest cocker spaniel.
- 1:45SPEAKER_02: So a big welcome to the show, Ben.
- 1:48SPEAKER_03: Hey, I'm excited to be here.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: What an amazing biography to read.
- 1:53SPEAKER_02: I love how you've just been all these spans of life,
- 1:57SPEAKER_02: but how did you land into the wild mushroom world that you're in now?
- 2:02SPEAKER_03: It was really by chance.
- 2:04So I helped scale a company from about $250,000 to $150 million
- 2:08in business done in
- 2:10SPEAKER_03: less than nine months.
- 2:11SPEAKER_03: I built up the automation solutions.
- 2:12SPEAKER_03: I was extremely burnt out.
- 2:14SPEAKER_03: And just before my partners were meant to give me a big payday of
- 2:19SPEAKER_03: Two days before,
- 2:19they decided to fire my ass in a way that they thought they
- 2:23wouldn't have to pay me
- 2:24SPEAKER_03: my payouts because they're like,
- 2:25SPEAKER_03: hey,
- 2:25SPEAKER_03: if we just buy him and just run off from the business now,
- 2:28SPEAKER_03: we won't have to pay him and we'll just take all this stuff.
- 2:32Result and funny this they did it literally as I was just going
- 2:37into the mountains
- 2:37for a few days off since I hadn't had any days off in like
- 2:40eight months so like
- 2:41they intentionally did this which resulted in a little bit of
- 2:44depression and a
- 2:45little bit of an identity crisis of myself going I just
- 2:49invested 20 hours a day for
- 2:51the last eight months into this I invested everything I had to
- 2:55build up the systems
- 2:57SPEAKER_03: and the teams and the technology and absolutely everything
- 3:01SPEAKER_03: And then you kind of like, you get that email and you're like, what?
- 3:04SPEAKER_03: The living, like in the words of the Virgin Mary come again?
- 3:07SPEAKER_03: Like what?
- 3:08SPEAKER_03: And it's just like, that's in general a little path of depression.
- 3:12SPEAKER_03: And funny enough,
- 3:12I just had an opportunity appear when I was kind of stumbling
- 3:16around going,
- 3:16SPEAKER_03: well,
- 3:17SPEAKER_03: what do I really want to do?
- 3:18SPEAKER_03: And what makes me happy?
- 3:20SPEAKER_03: And it's kind of like my probably tense midlife process.
- 3:23SPEAKER_03: And it was just like, well, I actually did a landing.
- 3:27which resulted in me acquiring a mushroom company as part of a
- 3:31lean deal.
- 3:32SPEAKER_03: And it got me into the world of mushrooms.
- 3:34And I knew nothing about mushrooms,
- 3:35wasn't really taking mushrooms,
- 3:37enjoyed eating mushrooms.
- 3:38SPEAKER_03: I had never done a mushroom trip, like any of that stuff, right?
- 3:41SPEAKER_03: So I was like completely virginal to the world of mushrooms.
- 3:44SPEAKER_03: I'm like, you know what?
- 3:45SPEAKER_03: It's got nothing to do with marketing.
- 3:46SPEAKER_03: It's got nothing to do with...
- 3:49the companies I was involved with previously or having to
- 3:52consult to Fortune 100
- 3:54companies around the world where you have meetings about the
- 3:56agendas of future
- 3:57meetings and like all that BS that I'm like life is too short
- 4:01for this shit I'm
- 4:03SPEAKER_03: like yeah I'm just gonna sell mushrooms and just
- 4:06SPEAKER_03: Be a rolling hippie And then,
- 4:09because I remember the days of going through Byron Bay And that
- 4:13area there,
- 4:14SPEAKER_03: like it's a beautiful part of the country And I'm like,
- 4:16SPEAKER_03: man,
- 4:16SPEAKER_03: this seems to be something It's way better than practice in law,
- 4:20SPEAKER_03: that's for sure So,
- 4:22SPEAKER_03: yeah,
- 4:23it just got me down in the world of mushrooms And then I was
- 4:25just constantly going,
- 4:26SPEAKER_03: how do we create a better product?
- 4:27SPEAKER_03: How do we create a better product?
- 4:29SPEAKER_03: Because I was completely disgusted
- 4:31in the mushroom industry and what was going on and how they put
- 4:36the true healing of
- 4:38it second or third after profits first and I was just like if
- 4:43you can create a
- 4:44great product like a product that like we're a mushroom company
- 4:49that goes try my
- 4:50product if you don't feel any benefits within 30 minutes just
- 4:54don't even buy our
- 4:55SPEAKER_03: stuff only 5% of people buy our product because
- 4:59SPEAKER_03: They feel something in as little as five minutes,
- 5:02SPEAKER_03: their brain fog disappears,
- 5:03SPEAKER_03: all this type of stuff,
- 5:04SPEAKER_03: but it requires me to not compromise on the integrity of the product,
- 5:09SPEAKER_03: on how the product is produced,
- 5:11SPEAKER_03: the extraction methodology,
- 5:13SPEAKER_03: all of that type of stuff.
- 5:14SPEAKER_03: Doing so is allowing us to build this mushroom movement where we're now,
- 5:18SPEAKER_03: we started in the world of tinctures,
- 5:20SPEAKER_03: creating super high quality tinctures that really help people,
- 5:23SPEAKER_03: brain fog,
- 5:24SPEAKER_03: menopause,
- 5:25SPEAKER_03: energy,
- 5:26SPEAKER_03: relaxation,
- 5:27SPEAKER_03: insomnia,
- 5:27SPEAKER_03: sleep,
- 5:28SPEAKER_03: that type of stuff.
- 5:29SPEAKER_03: Now we're moving into mushroom jerky,
- 5:31SPEAKER_03: mushroom bacon,
- 5:32SPEAKER_03: and a few other mushroom-based meals and just continuing to expand.
- 5:36So that's kind of really been the eclectic journey and I didn't
- 5:39really even take
- 5:40SPEAKER_03: the mushroom business seriously.
- 5:42When I was 16,
- 5:44I used to go from Rockhampton,
- 5:46Queensland,
- 5:46Brisbane,
- 5:46Queensland.
- 5:47It's at the bottom of the Great Barrier Reef for anyone who
- 5:50actually knows which
- 5:51side of the country that is on and that's not the Perth side
- 5:53for anyone in the US.
- 5:55SPEAKER_03: They always go, that's close to Perth, right?
- 5:57SPEAKER_03: I'm like, oh yeah, just a short drive, just down the road.
- 6:00SPEAKER_03: I usually tell most Americans I'm from South Boston and they're like,
- 6:04SPEAKER_03: oh yeah,
- 6:04SPEAKER_03: I hear the accent now.
- 6:05SPEAKER_03: I'm like, oh, you've never traveled, right?
- 6:09So when I was 16 I used to go to Hong Kong Go to trade shows
- 6:15And I would find
- 6:16products And then sell those products online Back in 2000 That
- 6:21was an e-commerce
- 6:22That was a Yahoo e-commerce store And I was a 16 year old Doing
- 6:27products So selling
- 6:28stuff online Has always been what I've done And I just was like
- 6:32My first year in
- 6:33SPEAKER_03: business Selling the mushroom supplements Um
- 6:36We literally were selling mushroom supplements while I did
- 6:3940,000 miles traveling
- 6:41SPEAKER_03: around the U.S.
- 6:42SPEAKER_03: in my RV And it was at the end of that year,
- 6:45SPEAKER_03: I'm like,
- 6:46SPEAKER_03: holy shit,
- 6:46SPEAKER_03: there may be something more to this Like,
- 6:48let's take this a little bit more seriously Now I'm building a
- 6:5128-acre mushroom
- 6:52farm And we're bringing in a whole bunch of interesting
- 6:55mushroom tech to the U.S.
- 6:56SPEAKER_03: that has never existed here Because being Australian,
- 6:59SPEAKER_03: I bring an international perspective,
- 7:01SPEAKER_03: if that makes sense
- 7:03SPEAKER_02: Yes, it does.
- 7:03SPEAKER_02: But also, you're not bound by the culture that you're living in, I guess.
- 7:09SPEAKER_02: God, no.
- 7:10SPEAKER_02: Yes, knowing exactly where you are.
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 7:13SPEAKER_02: You know,
- 7:14and it comes to what perspective and then because you've got
- 7:17that unique background
- 7:18SPEAKER_02: and you've always,
- 7:19SPEAKER_02: you know,
- 7:19SPEAKER_02: you know how to market it,
- 7:21SPEAKER_02: you know how to sell it.
- 7:22SPEAKER_02: It's like,
- 7:22SPEAKER_02: no,
- 7:23SPEAKER_02: now I want to focus on what actually matters to me,
- 7:25SPEAKER_02: like you said,
- 7:26and coming back to creating a quality product that people
- 7:29actually find the benefit
- 7:31SPEAKER_02: from so that they can be themselves again,
- 7:33SPEAKER_02: right?
- 7:33SPEAKER_02: And not get stuck in all the meetings about meetings.
- 7:36And I know exactly what you're talking about,
- 7:38where it's like,
- 7:38this could have been an email.
- 7:40SPEAKER_02: No, this didn't have to be a 40-minute meeting of my life.
- 7:44SPEAKER_02: This could have been a two-minute email.
- 7:46SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 7:47SPEAKER_03: And then it comes down like, well, at the end of the day, life is short.
- 7:50And the things that have happened over the last few years
- 7:53really show you like,
- 7:54SPEAKER_03: okay,
- 7:55SPEAKER_03: what's really going to matter?
- 7:57I'm a big believer that I believe over the next few years
- 8:00there's going to be a massive food.
- 8:03SPEAKER_03: Impact,
- 8:04SPEAKER_03: impact on fresh food,
- 8:05SPEAKER_03: impact on quality food,
- 8:07SPEAKER_03: impacting on food you want to eat,
- 8:09everything from seeds to we're already starting to see a hiccup
- 8:13in the packaging
- 8:15SPEAKER_03: arena for food or packaging for anything,
- 8:18SPEAKER_03: but like packaging for food.
- 8:19SPEAKER_03: So like if you can't get the packaging for food,
- 8:23manufacturing companies aren't even going to be able to release
- 8:27product because
- 8:29SPEAKER_03: There's going to be no plastics.
- 8:30So there's going to be a whole bunch of interesting things
- 8:32happening that I don't
- 8:33SPEAKER_03: think most people are prepared for.
- 8:36SPEAKER_03: And when you're talking about your health,
- 8:37SPEAKER_03: it becomes very,
- 8:38SPEAKER_03: very interesting on how do you have some sovereignty with your health and
- 8:43SPEAKER_03: understand that,
- 8:44SPEAKER_03: hey,
- 8:45the systems that we thought we could trust aren't actually
- 8:49there to get us healthy.
- 8:51SPEAKER_03: They're there to keep us in the systems
- 8:55And that's why when you start looking at some of these
- 8:57treatments like mushrooms or
- 8:58SPEAKER_03: everything,
- 8:59SPEAKER_03: it's bad.
- 9:00Like I literally had 5,000 clients of a product last year on a
- 9:04product that were
- 9:05SPEAKER_03: getting off cannabis,
- 9:06loving it because the mushroom would actually help with pain
- 9:09and inflammation and
- 9:10SPEAKER_03: the mushroom would actually help with brain clarity,
- 9:13SPEAKER_03: not cause brain fog like CBD or cannabis does,
- 9:16SPEAKER_03: right?
- 9:17SPEAKER_03: Yet the FDA,
- 9:19SPEAKER_03: this magical organization that knows best for everybody's health,
- 9:22SPEAKER_03: right,
- 9:23SPEAKER_03: ruled that this mushroom is a bad mushroom.
- 9:26SPEAKER_03: And I looked at their research and I'm like,
- 9:28SPEAKER_03: did you make this shit up off Wikipedia or Reddit post?
- 9:32SPEAKER_03: Or like, where the hell is this research coming from?
- 9:36SPEAKER_03: Because I've got 3,000 plus case studies.
- 9:40that have been documented for in excess of 100 years that show
- 9:45none of this bullshit.
- 9:47SPEAKER_03: And they literally ban the product.
- 9:48SPEAKER_03: And the way they ban the products here in the U.S.
- 9:50SPEAKER_03: is they pass a ruling and then they make the banks enforce it.
- 9:54SPEAKER_03: And I know in the U.K.
- 9:55SPEAKER_03: they've actually already banned two forms of mushrooms,
- 9:57SPEAKER_03: coiticeps and reishi,
- 9:59SPEAKER_03: which have been clinically,
- 10:00SPEAKER_03: yeah,
- 10:01SPEAKER_03: in the U.K.
- 10:02So I actually had to pull back a whole bunch of inventory
- 10:04around the world.
- 10:05SPEAKER_03: We were shipping around the world,
- 10:06SPEAKER_03: but then all of a sudden it just started becoming problematic.
- 10:09SPEAKER_03: We can no longer sell in Sweden or Europe There was issues in our French
- 10:13SPEAKER_03: distribution and all this type of stuff And it's just,
- 10:15there's this whole turmoil happening with holistic alternatives
- 10:19And then so like I
- 10:20actually had to recall all of our stock internationally from
- 10:22all around the world
- 10:23SPEAKER_03: And now we're just focusing on the US,
- 10:24SPEAKER_03: getting those systems right,
- 10:25getting everything operational here Which is unfortunate
- 10:28because we had hundreds of
- 10:30people internationally Who are greatly benefiting and we can
- 10:33literally no longer
- 10:34SPEAKER_03: serve
- 10:35which is so fascinating but it's really interesting too because
- 10:38it's like in New
- 10:39Zealand right vitamin C you have to now get through
- 10:43prescription and I'm like but
- 10:45it's vitamin C that you can't really overdose on it or anything
- 10:49like you can but
- 10:50you know you're just going to end up going the toilet a lot and
- 10:52maybe throwing up
- 10:53SPEAKER_02: but at the same time it's not going to lead to your death
- 10:56and it's really interesting when you start to look at the
- 10:58studies and the doses of
- 11:00things that they give and when you look deeper into the
- 11:03evidence and who funds the
- 11:05studies and where you start to trace and go deeper and you ask
- 11:09better questions.
- 11:11SPEAKER_03: Well, that's if people can ask better questions because what's funny is
- 11:15Yeah My degrees in Australia taught me one thing was to ask
- 11:19quality questions or
- 11:21ask logical questions and do your own research where here in
- 11:24the US research is a
- 11:26TikTok case study and the thing is is like the crap that people
- 11:30come to me with is
- 11:31ridiculous I'm just like where on God's green earth did you get
- 11:36all of this data oh
- 11:37SPEAKER_03: I saw all these TikTok videos about it I'm like you'd
- 11:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's the caliber of research.
- 11:43And there's a massive issue I know of influencers who are
- 11:46literally just hyping
- 11:47SPEAKER_03: things,
- 11:48not understanding the ramifications of what they do to people
- 11:51because they're
- 11:51SPEAKER_03: influenced.
- 11:53And they say stuff that they will never do,
- 11:56but they do it for hype and attention.
- 11:59So it's a fascinating game when you're looking at holistic
- 12:01health and what gets
- 12:03SPEAKER_03: hyped isn't actually necessarily what's best.
- 12:07Yeah and I find that so I'm very much one that teaches people
- 12:11especially my clients
- 12:12to use their own discernment and trust what aligns for them we
- 12:15have different body
- 12:16makeups we have different gut biomes everything like that what
- 12:19works for one person
- 12:20might not work for another person so it's like if you feel that
- 12:23you resonate with
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: the type of mushroom over another
- 12:26then go with that you know if that works for you then go with
- 12:29that if not and then
- 12:31don't do that you know trust what how you feel not what
- 12:33everyone's telling you you
- 12:34know even the biohacking movement at the moment and I'm not
- 12:38saying it's a bad thing
- 12:39SPEAKER_02: but I'm like how about you just go outside
- 12:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah,
- 12:42SPEAKER_02: but if I wear this headlight sensor,
- 12:43SPEAKER_02: I can sit on the couch while I'm watching TV,
- 12:44SPEAKER_02: eating my bag or whatever.
- 12:46SPEAKER_02: Here's something that's very, very interesting.
- 12:56SPEAKER_03: GLP1, GLP2, huge, right?
- 12:58SPEAKER_03: We're actually just about to bring in,
- 13:00SPEAKER_03: because we've been making a candy line,
- 13:02SPEAKER_03: a hard candy line,
- 13:03SPEAKER_03: and because we're doing a jerky,
- 13:04SPEAKER_03: I didn't want to use,
- 13:05SPEAKER_03: we don't use anything artificial,
- 13:07SPEAKER_03: I don't use any artificial colors or flavorings,
- 13:10SPEAKER_03: anything like that.
- 13:11SPEAKER_03: And with our jerky,
- 13:12SPEAKER_03: we're about to bring in a Japanese sugar of all things,
- 13:15SPEAKER_03: a Japanese sugar,
- 13:16SPEAKER_03: because it's the standard sugar offered in Japan in all of their drinks,
- 13:20SPEAKER_03: because a lot of the other sugars are actually banned,
- 13:23SPEAKER_03: because
- 13:24they know they're not good for them and this one sugar is so
- 13:28clean it actually
- 13:29comes from dates and prunes and things like that and it
- 13:31actually stimulates GLP-1
- 13:33and GLP-2 so you can have sugar to actually cause weight loss
- 13:39and I had no idea
- 13:41about it when I started reading it and reading this research on
- 13:43it and what the
- 13:44SPEAKER_03: Japanese do with it I was just like
- 13:47SPEAKER_03: Oh, this stuff is actually really freaking cool.
- 13:50And it doesn't have that shitty aftertaste because it's
- 13:53actually a proper cleaner sugar.
- 13:55And I love how they make the brown cane sugar,
- 13:59but it's literally food coloring on white sugar.
- 14:04SPEAKER_02: I'm just laughing because it's like all those fake things, right?
- 14:07SPEAKER_02: So it's like that whole...
- 14:10like fats are bad for you right like the yes there's good fat
- 14:14bad fat but at the
- 14:15same time as that whole like fats are bad for you and then oh
- 14:18but we're going to
- 14:19put sugar in there instead you know because we've taken out all
- 14:22the flavor and
- 14:22SPEAKER_02: taken out all the fat
- 14:24SPEAKER_02: And I remember years and years ago,
- 14:26SPEAKER_02: like I said to somebody,
- 14:27SPEAKER_02: they're like,
- 14:28SPEAKER_02: oh,
- 14:28SPEAKER_02: why don't you have low fat milk?
- 14:30SPEAKER_02: I'm like,
- 14:30SPEAKER_02: because I can burn off the fat,
- 14:31SPEAKER_02: but I can't burn off the sugar or whatever else they're putting in there.
- 14:34SPEAKER_02: Like, I don't know what those chemicals are.
- 14:36SPEAKER_02: I didn't know anything else, Ben.
- 14:37SPEAKER_02: I just said that, you know, intuitively.
- 14:40SPEAKER_02: And they're like, I guess you can burn off the fat.
- 14:42SPEAKER_02: I'm like, yeah.
- 14:43SPEAKER_02: And then it turns out you actually,
- 14:44SPEAKER_02: we should go back to cooking with fats and we should go back to having,
- 14:47SPEAKER_02: you know,
- 14:48SPEAKER_02: like avocados,
- 14:49SPEAKER_02: which apparently got a bad rap and,
- 14:50SPEAKER_02: you know,
- 14:51SPEAKER_02: everything else.
- 14:52SPEAKER_03: Well, it's everything in moderation.
- 14:54SPEAKER_03: But what you said,
- 14:55SPEAKER_03: I think,
- 14:55SPEAKER_03: is one of the things you actually said is actually really,
- 14:57SPEAKER_03: really smart that most people don't understand with any holistic health,
- 15:01SPEAKER_03: and it's dosage and potency.
- 15:03SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 15:05SPEAKER_03: Like everyone cites,
- 15:06SPEAKER_03: like for example,
- 15:07SPEAKER_03: everyone cites the case studies with lion's mane,
- 15:10how it can reverse Alzheimer's and dementia and help with brain
- 15:14fog and things like
- 15:15SPEAKER_03: this.
- 15:16SPEAKER_03: But what they don't say is it's 3,000 milligrams.
- 15:20SPEAKER_03: And what is that in a dosage?
- 15:22So therefore,
- 15:23if you're to take that every single day,
- 15:25what does that look like?
- 15:28SPEAKER_03: And is the product you're taking,
- 15:29SPEAKER_03: does it even,
- 15:30like a lot of them don't even have 3,000 milligrams in the
- 15:35entire offering.
- 15:38SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 15:38So the thing is,
- 15:39is dosage and potency becomes a dirty word in this industry.
- 15:42And I tell people,
- 15:43look,
- 15:43I offer you a clinical dose in every dropper full.
- 15:48SPEAKER_03: This is why you feel it in 15 minutes.
- 15:50SPEAKER_03: Like it may be strong, right?
- 15:52SPEAKER_03: But this is why we're
- 15:53So you want me to fill it with the artificial stuff so it's
- 15:55easier for you.
- 15:56SPEAKER_03: I'm like, it's just
- 16:09It's not the worst thing in life,
- 16:12but it facilitates you to actually feel better.
- 16:15SPEAKER_03: So dosage and potency is very, very important.
- 16:18SPEAKER_03: And in this space,
- 16:19I've learned that most people really don't understand what
- 16:22questions to ask when it
- 16:23SPEAKER_03: comes to dosage and potency,
- 16:24SPEAKER_03: nor do they understand
- 16:26Different extraction types And how they get demystified by
- 16:30marketing And I can
- 16:31happily explain that to you If it makes any of your clients of
- 16:35interest Because if
- 16:36you can understand these one things Around dosage and potency
- 16:40You'll understand how
- 16:41to choose better quality supplements And it's not necessarily
- 16:45what you think
- 16:47SPEAKER_02: Well,
- 16:48I have a really practical example of this and it's not to do
- 16:50with mushrooms,
- 16:51SPEAKER_02: but when I was pregnant,
- 16:53SPEAKER_02: like I was looking for just supplements to take before I felt pregnant.
- 16:56SPEAKER_02: So folic acid is a big one, right?
- 16:58Everyone talks about folic acid,
- 16:59helps,
- 17:00you know,
- 17:00counteract the spina bifida.
- 17:02Anyway,
- 17:02but I went in with knowing my dosages of what I was meant to
- 17:05have a day,
- 17:07right?
- 17:07So I went in with that knowledge and I pull up the common
- 17:11supplement that all the
- 17:12SPEAKER_02: women get told to take
- 17:13and it wasn't even a tenth of the folic acid that you needed to
- 17:18actually counteract this.
- 17:19SPEAKER_02: So I was sitting there going,
- 17:21SPEAKER_02: well,
- 17:21SPEAKER_02: why would I buy this when it doesn't even,
- 17:24SPEAKER_02: like I'd have to have 10 of these tablets in order to get enough.
- 17:27SPEAKER_02: That's not going to balance out.
- 17:29SPEAKER_02: And I guess that's where exactly like you said,
- 17:31SPEAKER_02: knowing that dosage and the potency that you need and also the quality of
- 17:35of what it is because you know even if you take fish oil some
- 17:39fish oils are not the
- 17:39same as other fish oils like they're actually not good for you
- 17:42you know vitamin c
- 17:44some types of vitamin c aren't good for you whereas the other
- 17:46ones are more likely
- 17:47to be absorbed in your body so I guess from the mushroom
- 17:51perspective do you want to
- 17:52SPEAKER_02: share where that kind of comes in
- 17:54yeah so most so there's a study out there actually about some
- 17:58of the leading
- 17:59mushroom capsules because some people are like oh man I don't
- 18:02take that mushroom
- 18:02coffee stuff because it tastes like crap all right well we will
- 18:05side note that and
- 18:05we'll talk about that in a minute but I 100% agree that shit
- 18:09tastes like crap and
- 18:10there's life is too short for shitty wine shitty coffee and
- 18:12shitty people so yes
- 18:16Most mushroom capsules out there or even a lot of the other
- 18:19supplement capsules out
- 18:20SPEAKER_03: there,
- 18:20SPEAKER_03: I do know it's specifically related to mushrooms,
- 18:23SPEAKER_03: are 42% sawdust.
- 18:26SPEAKER_03: What?
- 18:27SPEAKER_03: 42% filler.
- 18:28SPEAKER_03: So just think about that.
- 18:29SPEAKER_03: You're taking a big name product.
- 18:31SPEAKER_03: This is the big name ones, right?
- 18:33SPEAKER_03: The big money ones.
- 18:35SPEAKER_03: And it's 42% sawdust.
- 18:36SPEAKER_03: Dirt.
- 18:40SPEAKER_03: Now you're putting that into your system and you're wondering,
- 18:42SPEAKER_03: man,
- 18:42SPEAKER_03: why am I just not running smooth?
- 18:45Why do I feel foggy when this thing's meant to help me think
- 18:49clearly,
- 18:49right?
- 18:50SPEAKER_03: Why is this thing the size of a horse pill?
- 18:52SPEAKER_03: Because if it's not big in the US, nobody takes it seriously.
- 18:56SPEAKER_03: An example of that.
- 18:59SPEAKER_03: Exactly, like it's supersized me, right?
- 19:01SPEAKER_03: Like you come to the US, you put on 20 pounds.
- 19:03SPEAKER_03: It's just how it is.
- 19:04So the thing is,
- 19:04is I released a mushroom gummy last year and we did a lot of
- 19:07testing with this.
- 19:08SPEAKER_03: And our mushroom gummy, I'm like, I wanted a gummy you can feel, right?
- 19:11So we had one gummy in comparison to our competitors where
- 19:14you'd have to eat eight
- 19:15SPEAKER_03: to 12 of their gummies to even get anywhere close,
- 19:19SPEAKER_03: right?
- 19:19So,
- 19:20but people are like,
- 19:22but I take one of your gummies and I don't feel like I've had
- 19:24enough.
- 19:24SPEAKER_03: I just want more of them.
- 19:26So they actually wanted less powerful things that they get to
- 19:29eat more frequently
- 19:30SPEAKER_03: rather than having just one powerful one to get on with their day,
- 19:33SPEAKER_03: which makes it very fascinating.
- 19:34It's fascinating understanding what people are actually looking
- 19:37for versus what they need.
- 19:39SPEAKER_03: But when you're talking about dosage and potency,
- 19:41I'll explain the different methods of extraction and in a way
- 19:45that every Australian
- 19:46SPEAKER_03: can understand because it took me a long time to understand this.
- 19:48SPEAKER_03: So I'll distill several years of research and knowledge in this space.
- 19:52So when you talk about,
- 19:54okay,
- 19:54here's a test for you,
- 19:55Catherine,
- 19:55to see how your skills are.
- 19:57SPEAKER_03: How would you describe a water-based extraction?
- 20:00SPEAKER_02: Water-based extraction.
- 20:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah,
- 20:02SPEAKER_03: so most tinctures,
- 20:03SPEAKER_03: extractions of any lotion,
- 20:05SPEAKER_03: potion,
- 20:05SPEAKER_03: herb,
- 20:06SPEAKER_03: whatever,
- 20:07SPEAKER_03: they start as a water-based extraction.
- 20:09SPEAKER_03: What would be a metaphor?
- 20:10SPEAKER_03: What would be an analogy?
- 20:12SPEAKER_03: How would you describe it to a layman?
- 20:14SPEAKER_03: Look at the brain working here.
- 20:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, look at my brain working.
- 20:17SPEAKER_03: I can see the smoke off this one.
- 20:20SPEAKER_03: I didn't tell you you're going to need more caffeine for this call.
- 20:23I don't drink coffee so that's funny but the image I get is
- 20:29that you soak it in
- 20:30water and the nutrients goes out into the water and then the
- 20:33water captures
- 20:35whatever it is that soaks out of the plant or the herb that you
- 20:37put in it 100%
- 20:39correct so it's no different to boiling pasta in a bowl yeah
- 20:43like when you heat
- 20:44pasta on the stove to cook your noodles to cook your spaghetti
- 20:47bolognese right the
- 20:49SPEAKER_03: water you tip down the sink
- 20:50that's a water-based extraction and you can go from a
- 20:53water-based extraction to a
- 20:55bottle on a shelf in less than an hour but what most people
- 21:00don't tell you is the
- 21:02potency the potency and the bioavailability of that I've had
- 21:06people tell me that
- 21:06bioavailability doesn't matter I'm like so you'd rather just
- 21:10have expensive urine
- 21:11SPEAKER_03: like what like if your body can't process what you're putting in
- 21:17what do you mean bioavailability doesn't matter I'm like why
- 21:19even have it in the
- 21:20first place if your body can't process it so a water-based
- 21:24extraction is nothing
- 21:26any different to extracting so that's five to ten percent
- 21:29bioavailability the next
- 21:32one is an alcohol-based extraction and I have a lot of people
- 21:35go oh my god Ben
- 21:36SPEAKER_02: alcohol that's terrible you can't use alcohol-based extractions
- 21:41Anyway I'm like yeah but but did you know that specifically
- 21:45with mushrooms the
- 21:46compounds the terpenes the some of the oils some of the
- 21:50beta-glucans you can only
- 21:53get the benefit of them through the alcohol-based extraction so
- 21:58some of the
- 21:59benefits you need actually need to come from an alcohol-based
- 22:02extraction and when
- 22:03SPEAKER_03: people go is that really I'm like yeah but I eat it fresh okay cool
- 22:08SPEAKER_03: That's great, but it's not the most potent way to consume that.
- 22:13SPEAKER_03: So the form of extraction we use is spagyric extraction.
- 22:17SPEAKER_03: So the bioavailability,
- 22:18SPEAKER_03: if you do a water-based extraction,
- 22:19SPEAKER_03: then with an alcohol extraction,
- 22:21SPEAKER_03: is somewhere between about 20% and 30%.
- 22:24SPEAKER_03: which is some companies will do it.
- 22:26SPEAKER_03: It costs a little bit more.
- 22:27SPEAKER_03: It takes a little bit longer.
- 22:29SPEAKER_03: So you've got to have a company who does want quality,
- 22:31but then they can compromise it with the glycerins and the
- 22:34sugars and everything
- 22:35SPEAKER_03: they start to use,
- 22:36SPEAKER_03: right?
- 22:36SPEAKER_03: Because at the end of the day, it's a money game.
- 22:39SPEAKER_03: And then the most potent form of extraction,
- 22:41SPEAKER_03: which takes 8 to 12 weeks per product,
- 22:45SPEAKER_03: and you can do it for every single one of your ingredients,
- 22:47SPEAKER_03: is what they call spudgeric alchemy or spudgeric extraction,
- 22:51SPEAKER_03: spudgeric,
- 22:52SPEAKER_03: if you've got to put that into Google Translate.
- 22:56And what that requires is it requires a water extraction and
- 22:59alcohol extraction.
- 23:00SPEAKER_03: And then we take the mushrooms and the herbs and everything we use,
- 23:03that we run through the water and the alcohol and we turn it
- 23:06into white ash.
- 23:07SPEAKER_03: We calcify it, like we burn it.
- 23:09SPEAKER_03: We light it on fire.
- 23:11SPEAKER_03: And why do you do that?
- 23:12SPEAKER_03: Because then you're extracting all of the nutrients,
- 23:15SPEAKER_03: all of the fats,
- 23:16SPEAKER_03: all of the minerals,
- 23:17SPEAKER_03: all of the oils.
- 23:18SPEAKER_03: And that's why a spagyric extraction will be a little bit cloudier.
- 23:22SPEAKER_03: And a lot of people actually say it's what's bringing the,
- 23:25SPEAKER_03: they go,
- 23:26SPEAKER_03: it feels like these tinctures are alive.
- 23:29SPEAKER_03: Because if you go back on the metaphysical side,
- 23:32SPEAKER_03: you're literally applying all of the spirit energy of that plan.
- 23:38And this is why spagyric alchemy is one of the oldest forms of
- 23:41alchemy for any holistic process.
- 23:44SPEAKER_03: Because it's what the old alchemists used to make water into wine.
- 23:49SPEAKER_03: Like this is how they used to extract living elements.
- 23:52SPEAKER_03: And it's funny that ancient alchemy was about living energy,
- 23:57SPEAKER_03: yet modern medicine is just about dead synthetics,
- 24:00SPEAKER_03: which is like,
- 24:02SPEAKER_03: where did we go wrong?
- 24:04SPEAKER_02: Like what the hell happened?
- 24:05Well,
- 24:06I think a lot of us know,
- 24:07but we're not going to have that conversation today.
- 24:11SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 24:12So there's a quick explainer for people about the different
- 24:15types of extraction.
- 24:16SPEAKER_03: So if you see something that's a water-only extraction,
- 24:19just go pee in a cup and drink that because that's pretty much
- 24:22how good it really
- 24:23SPEAKER_03: is,
- 24:23SPEAKER_03: right?
- 24:25If you're looking for a minimum,
- 24:26cheaper form of extraction,
- 24:28yes,
- 24:28water,
- 24:29alcohol.
- 24:29SPEAKER_03: It's got to be that at a minimum.
- 24:31SPEAKER_03: Otherwise, you're kidding yourself, to be honest.
- 24:34SPEAKER_03: Go save your money.
- 24:34SPEAKER_03: Go buy a lotto ticket or go play bingo with grandma.
- 24:37SPEAKER_03: Go do something else, right?
- 24:39SPEAKER_03: If you're really looking for something high caliber,
- 24:43SPEAKER_03: spagyric extraction is the ultimate way to go.
- 24:46SPEAKER_03: And this is where you'll start to notice and feel things.
- 24:49You don't have to wait for them to build up in your system over
- 24:51three months
- 24:52SPEAKER_03: because that's marketing hyperbole for this shit don't work.
- 24:55So just buy it longer because you haven't allowed it to build
- 24:59up in your system.
- 25:00SPEAKER_03: This should be nothing to build up in my system.
- 25:04SPEAKER_03: Like this is what's going on.
- 25:05SPEAKER_03: Does that make sense?
- 25:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah,
- 25:07SPEAKER_02: because also from my perspective,
- 25:09SPEAKER_02: like if you have to let it build up,
- 25:10SPEAKER_02: what else is building up?
- 25:12SPEAKER_02: Like if you have to,
- 25:13SPEAKER_02: if your body's not taking it and using it straight away,
- 25:16SPEAKER_02: where is it being stored to be built up?
- 25:18SPEAKER_02: Because for someone that has had to,
- 25:20SPEAKER_02: you know,
- 25:21learn how to detox my liver and detox my kidneys and pull all
- 25:24the toxins and things
- 25:25SPEAKER_02: that got stuck in there.
- 25:27if they say that it needs to build up where is that being
- 25:30stored in your body
- 25:31that's a fascinating conversation and question and I love the
- 25:33people who are going
- 25:34I'm giving up gluten okay how long did you give it up for I
- 25:37gave it up for the week
- 25:38I'm like good you are aware that gluten stays in your system
- 25:43for 21 days so if you
- 25:45SPEAKER_03: haven't given up said gluten for at least a month
- 25:50SPEAKER_03: You're wasting your time.
- 25:51SPEAKER_03: And they look at me like, what?
- 25:53SPEAKER_03: That's hard.
- 25:54SPEAKER_03: I'm like, yeah, it ain't easy.
- 25:56SPEAKER_03: But like... Alcohol is the same too.
- 25:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 26:00SPEAKER_03: This is the debt.
- 26:01And this is what,
- 26:02like when you really start getting into this industry,
- 26:04everything has a debt.
- 26:06SPEAKER_03: You're either like an energy drink,
- 26:08SPEAKER_03: you're bypassing your energy crash or your fatigue,
- 26:11SPEAKER_03: you're like,
- 26:11SPEAKER_03: you're debting that on.
- 26:13SPEAKER_03: And it comes down to,
- 26:14SPEAKER_03: well,
- 26:14SPEAKER_03: how much,
- 26:15like I get offered a hundred different ways to compromise my
- 26:18products every single
- 26:19SPEAKER_03: day.
- 26:20SPEAKER_03: On the ingredients,
- 26:20SPEAKER_03: on the quality,
- 26:21on the sourcing To the point that we're now going to be growing
- 26:25our own So we can
- 26:26guarantee the quality of the product And I'm not putting any
- 26:29countries down Because
- 26:30SPEAKER_03: actually,
- 26:31SPEAKER_03: like some countries What I find fascinating here in the U.S.
- 26:36And I'll say that because I'm an immigrant That some of the
- 26:38actual research and
- 26:40technologies That the Asian countries have with growing some of
- 26:43these herbs Is a
- 26:44SPEAKER_03: thousand times better than what's here in the U.S.
- 26:47because they grow them from a different methodology and they
- 26:50grow them more holistically.
- 26:52Where here it's like,
- 26:53hey,
- 26:53we only want to maximize and profitize the cap of the mushroom.
- 26:56So we will like exploit it and then we'll add all these
- 26:59chemicals to it to boost it.
- 27:02SPEAKER_03: I'm like, but why?
- 27:05SPEAKER_03: Like, well, this is what the big guy in the industry teaches here.
- 27:08SPEAKER_03: I'm like, but why?
- 27:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 27:13I laugh because when we go shopping,
- 27:15we try and buy as much organic as we can.
- 27:17SPEAKER_02: And we try and grow what we can.
- 27:19SPEAKER_02: But, you know, there's so many other things that you have to fight with.
- 27:22SPEAKER_03: You know what's funny?
- 27:24SPEAKER_03: You know what's funny is people go, oh, Ben, are your mushrooms organic?
- 27:27SPEAKER_03: I'm like, um...
- 27:29SPEAKER_03: They're chemical-free?
- 27:32SPEAKER_03: Mushrooms grow on shit.
- 27:33SPEAKER_02: How much more organic do you want mushroom-free?
- 27:37And mushrooms can actually be planted and they actually take
- 27:41the heavy metals out
- 27:42SPEAKER_02: of the soil too.
- 27:43SPEAKER_02: But that's a different thing.
- 27:44SPEAKER_02: That's a different thing, right?
- 27:46SPEAKER_03: We'll talk about micro-remediation after this.
- 27:48But the thing is,
- 27:49if you use any form of chemicals with your mushrooms,
- 27:52you'll kill them.
- 27:54SPEAKER_03: So people go, oh, I want the organic certification.
- 27:57SPEAKER_03: I'm like, it doesn't exist.
- 28:00It's impossible to get because we don't have the chemical
- 28:03processes to then do the organic part.
- 28:07SPEAKER_02: This is wildlife, right?
- 28:09SPEAKER_02: Because we have chickens and they eat everything.
- 28:12SPEAKER_02: And I'm like,
- 28:13I can't guarantee that that worm hasn't been at my neighbor's
- 28:16place and somehow
- 28:17SPEAKER_02: worn down and she sprays with pesticides.
- 28:19SPEAKER_02: So how can I say that they've eaten?
- 28:21SPEAKER_03: Well, it's leaching.
- 28:22SPEAKER_03: That's the problem of leaching.
- 28:25SPEAKER_03: And I have a big deal.
- 28:26SPEAKER_03: People go, well, Ben, do you forage mushrooms in the wild?
- 28:28SPEAKER_03: I forage mushrooms.
- 28:30SPEAKER_03: I'm like...
- 28:31no I don't and I don't recommend it because you don't know what
- 28:35chemicals have been
- 28:37sprayed in any one area or have ran down a hill I'm talking so
- 28:42we're actually had
- 28:43an opportunity come our way and we're starting up a sister
- 28:45brand and the sister
- 28:46brand is actually all focused on micro remediation so waste
- 28:50remediation plastic
- 28:51remediation all using mushrooms and fungi and we're even going
- 28:55to be creating
- 28:55SPEAKER_03: textiles um
- 28:57SPEAKER_03: and all this type of stuff.
- 28:58SPEAKER_03: And it's coming out of our lab, which is the same thing.
- 29:00SPEAKER_03: We're about to release mushroom bacon.
- 29:03So mushroom that looks and tastes like bacon,
- 29:06but it's 100% mushroom,
- 29:07which is phenomenal.
- 29:08SPEAKER_03: And I'm working with award-winning chefs to design these recipes.
- 29:13SPEAKER_03: So it's really, really cool.
- 29:15But as you said,
- 29:16mushrooms can take out PFAs,
- 29:19take out toxins,
- 29:20take out heavy metals.
- 29:21SPEAKER_03: So the mushroom you're picking may be good.
- 29:25SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 29:26Maybe the good version Not the dark version That makes you see
- 29:29the little green men Right?
- 29:31Or blue men Or like the Just the Makes you dance in a field
- 29:34naked We all know we
- 29:35SPEAKER_03: want to go there Right?
- 29:37And it's a lot of fun So the thing is Is going in the wild And
- 29:40picking mushrooms
- 29:42When you don't know What's happened on that land Because I Have
- 29:46spoken with Cities
- 29:49SPEAKER_03: Cities
- 29:50SPEAKER_03: that their philosophy was we've got a waste issue.
- 29:54So what we're doing is we're trucking our waste up that
- 29:57mountain and we're letting
- 29:58SPEAKER_03: it freeze up this mountain.
- 30:01SPEAKER_03: And now their issues are is said waste is no longer freezing.
- 30:06Said Waste Is Running Down Hills That It Never Ran Down Before
- 30:09And Contaminating
- 30:10Farms That Never Got Contaminated Before Because These
- 30:13Decisions May Have Got Made
- 30:15In The 50s 60s 70s 80s And Right So The Thing Is Yes Wild
- 30:21Mushroom Foraging Can Be
- 30:23SPEAKER_03: Phenomenal Right It Can Be A Lot Of Fun But
- 30:27You have to be aware of the stupidity of others and they may
- 30:30have done silly things
- 30:32or there may be a chicken farm two miles down the road or a cow
- 30:35farm or an animal
- 30:36SPEAKER_03: farm or damn,
- 30:38SPEAKER_03: there just may be a farm down the road.
- 30:41SPEAKER_03: Like where is all of those fertilizers flowing?
- 30:46SPEAKER_03: Where is that roundup going?
- 30:49SPEAKER_03: A deer wouldn't go on the hill down here.
- 30:52Well we're having that issue in Australia at the moment in
- 30:55South Australia where
- 30:57the government organised for these chemicals to run off into
- 31:00the ocean and now all
- 31:01the animals are showing up dead on the shore and they're trying
- 31:04to deny it even
- 31:04SPEAKER_02: though their signatures are on everything so it's really
- 31:07SPEAKER_02: interesting seeing that or even in Tasmania they decided to put all these
- 31:12antibiotics through the salmon farms and it leached out into
- 31:15the water and
- 31:15everyone's like no we're not touching Tasmanian salmon like
- 31:18even people who don't
- 31:19care about this knew about it and they're like no we're not
- 31:22buying Tasmanian salmon
- 31:23SPEAKER_02: so they actually ruined the whole market yeah
- 31:26SPEAKER_03: In Florida, they have a red algae problem.
- 31:29SPEAKER_03: The red algae came from sewage spills.
- 31:31So it keeps cycling around because it's just this big sewage
- 31:34swamp that literally
- 31:35is floating in the sea that kind of keeps washing on shore
- 31:38every few years.
- 31:39SPEAKER_03: And as a result, it contaminated.
- 31:41SPEAKER_03: And if you don't know
- 31:56Prozac Prozac Prozac Prozac Prozac Prozac Prozac Prozac Prozac
- 31:58Prozac Prozac
- 32:19So now everyone's eating this stuff and it's just becoming this
- 32:22circle and it's a
- 32:22SPEAKER_03: huge issue because in waste treatment up until today,
- 32:28they didn't treat for drug stuff in waste treatment because it
- 32:34wasn't really a
- 32:35SPEAKER_03: problem.
- 32:36And then some cities recycle it and put it through your
- 32:39drinking water so then
- 32:40SPEAKER_02: you're drinking it.
- 32:41So then all of a sudden you have hormone problems when you
- 32:44never had hormone
- 32:44SPEAKER_02: problems and all you've done is drink water.
- 32:46SPEAKER_02: But that's a whole other podcast, right?
- 32:48SPEAKER_02: Like it's all over stuff.
- 32:51SPEAKER_03: When you start looking at this holistic stuff,
- 32:53SPEAKER_03: it gets quite fascinating on like,
- 32:55SPEAKER_03: hey,
- 32:55there's a whole bunch of stuff and I'm not telling you to run
- 32:57out and get this
- 32:58SPEAKER_03: water filter or that.
- 32:59Like it's just you have to become aware of what is going on in
- 33:02the environment and
- 33:03SPEAKER_03: there's been decisions made by people
- 33:05that aren't in your best interest no matter what they say or
- 33:09what they claim or who
- 33:10really they are and it's about taking responsibility for
- 33:13yourself to go hey like
- 33:14let me understand what this is let me just understand how to
- 33:18make a better choice
- 33:19SPEAKER_03: and buying organic isn't necessarily the best option and uh
- 33:24especially when the supermarket chain you're in only has one
- 33:28brand of organic and
- 33:29it comes from the supermarket chain that you're in so then I'm
- 33:33like hmm this is
- 33:35confusing but that's again like again but it's just food for
- 33:38thought right it's
- 33:39like okay organic out of India and organic out of Brazil isn't
- 33:44the same as organic
- 33:45out of the Sancho Coast like it's totally different from the
- 33:48farm right like it's
- 33:49SPEAKER_02: just
- 33:50SPEAKER_02: You just have to,
- 33:51SPEAKER_02: and getting to know where your product comes from,
- 33:53SPEAKER_02: I think,
- 33:54is the other point we've been highlighting here because knowing
- 33:57how it's grown,
- 33:58knowing the people who are growing it and knowing that that's
- 34:01the best interest.
- 34:01SPEAKER_02: This is where,
- 34:02SPEAKER_02: you know,
- 34:03you start to be more curious and you start to ask quality
- 34:06questions and not use
- 34:07SPEAKER_02: your TikTok research,
- 34:08SPEAKER_02: going the full circle where we started,
- 34:10SPEAKER_02: right?
- 34:10SPEAKER_02: And coming back to,
- 34:12SPEAKER_02: okay,
- 34:12SPEAKER_02: what's the quality and what's this person who values,
- 34:16SPEAKER_02: you know,
- 34:16SPEAKER_02: giving me...
- 34:16SPEAKER_02: Well,
- 34:16SPEAKER_03: who funded the research?
- 34:18is a phenomenal question because there's a whole bunch of
- 34:21people in the mushroom
- 34:23SPEAKER_03: world right now going,
- 34:25SPEAKER_03: mycelium is just as good as fruiting body.
- 34:28SPEAKER_03: And I may have just said several words that people were like, what?
- 34:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so let me explain it to you in a very, very simple way.
- 34:35SPEAKER_03: I explained it in this way and most people are like, oh, I get it now.
- 34:38SPEAKER_03: So look,
- 34:39SPEAKER_03: I have got a phenomenal banana smoothie,
- 34:42SPEAKER_03: but I've got two options on the banana smoothie,
- 34:44SPEAKER_03: okay?
- 34:44SPEAKER_03: And I'm going to allow you to choose which banana smoothie you want.
- 34:48So I've got a banana smoothie made out of fresh bananas where
- 34:53we peel them back
- 34:54SPEAKER_03: like the skins of virgins.
- 34:56SPEAKER_03: It's all really, really good, right?
- 34:58SPEAKER_03: Like so we put the fruit of the banana into all of our things, right?
- 35:03So you can have that banana smoothie or I got one that's
- 35:07significantly cheaper.
- 35:08SPEAKER_03: So it's like half the price, right?
- 35:11But what we do is we take the tree of the banana and the dirt
- 35:15and we pull the
- 35:16SPEAKER_03: banana tree out of the dirt.
- 35:18SPEAKER_03: We crush it into a fine powder and we put it in your smoothie, right?
- 35:23SPEAKER_03: This is like 25 cents on the dollar.
- 35:26It still produces banana fruit,
- 35:29but it never had any fruit on the tree when we pulverized it.
- 35:33It should still taste like banana when we add this artificial
- 35:35flavoring to it.
- 35:36SPEAKER_03: So are you okay with the cheaper banana smoothie?
- 35:40SPEAKER_03: And most people are like, I'd never drink that shit.
- 35:42SPEAKER_03: I'm like, yet you are.
- 35:46SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 35:47SPEAKER_02: Concentrate's my favorite word.
- 35:49SPEAKER_02: To a boyd.
- 35:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so that's the difference between mycelium and fruiting body.
- 35:55Mycelium is the roots and the dirt of stuff where fruiting body
- 36:00of a mushroom is
- 36:01SPEAKER_03: the banana of the mushroom.
- 36:04SPEAKER_03: If you understand a button mushroom,
- 36:06SPEAKER_03: that white mushroom we all see in the grocery store,
- 36:08SPEAKER_03: the thing that actually pops out
- 36:10SPEAKER_03: Yes, that's that.
- 36:11SPEAKER_03: And that's the fruiting body, right?
- 36:12SPEAKER_03: And that's what you want in all of your medications,
- 36:15SPEAKER_03: all of your tinctures,
- 36:16SPEAKER_03: all of the skin creams you get from a mushroom,
- 36:18SPEAKER_03: all should be fruiting body,
- 36:20SPEAKER_03: not the mycelium basis.
- 36:22SPEAKER_03: Because the mycelium is the cheapest sawdust, the dirt of all mushrooms.
- 36:29so that's just a disclaimer to anyone make sure if you're
- 36:32getting some mushrooms
- 36:33yes you can get them on Amazon yes you can get them at the
- 36:35grocery store chains but
- 36:37when you get mushrooms for $19 I can pretty much promise you
- 36:40that you're getting
- 36:42the cheapest form of that product it's interesting from an
- 36:46energetic point of view
- 36:47because the fruiting body would obviously be where the life
- 36:50energy of the mushroom
- 36:51is whereas the myosilium is more the networks and everything
- 36:54that's connected
- 36:55SPEAKER_02: underneath and that's
- 36:57SPEAKER_02: It's like you're processing too much and nothing at once.
- 37:00SPEAKER_02: It's really weird.
- 37:01SPEAKER_03: It's quite fascinating.
- 37:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 37:02SPEAKER_03: And the quality of it, you absolutely can notice.
- 37:06SPEAKER_03: And yeah,
- 37:06SPEAKER_03: so we've learned a lot about dosage and potency and different extraction
- 37:10SPEAKER_03: methodologies and what to look for.
- 37:12And what I was talking about the coffee is most of these
- 37:15mushroom coffees out
- 37:16SPEAKER_03: there,
- 37:17SPEAKER_03: what I love is they go,
- 37:18SPEAKER_03: we have a proprietary blend of mushrooms.
- 37:21SPEAKER_03: And the secret here in the US is I didn't even know this.
- 37:24SPEAKER_03: The secret here in the US is
- 37:26SPEAKER_03: 2% of the ingredient you're claiming is in there when you say proprietary
- 37:32ingredient proprietary blend only has to be your raw ingredient
- 37:36so if I say it's
- 37:37lion's mane but a proprietary blend 2% has to be lion's mane
- 37:4298% could be diesel
- 37:44SPEAKER_03: gasoline
- 37:47So when you talk about a lot of syrups or flavorings or
- 37:50whatever they are literally
- 37:52no different to diesel fuel products gasoline based products
- 37:57because a lot of them
- 37:58are gasoline derivatives when I talk to my lab technicians it
- 38:02gets really freaking
- 38:03scary because I'm like I was eating what for the longest time
- 38:08and wondering why I
- 38:09SPEAKER_03: had stomach issues like what
- 38:12It's like in Australia we have vapor rub and it literally says
- 38:16on it petroleum
- 38:17jelly or Vaseline petroleum jelly and people are like what do
- 38:21you mean it's made
- 38:22from petrol I said it literally says petroleum jelly on it like
- 38:27it's made from
- 38:27petrol no it can't be I'm like it says I'm like it's there but
- 38:32people can't believe
- 38:33it they can't can't accept that and it's like even when you
- 38:36start to go into
- 38:36vegetable oils and and all that and why they made it and what
- 38:40it does to your body
- 38:41SPEAKER_02: anyway but you
- 38:42SPEAKER_02: Yes, so mushroom coffee.
- 38:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like life is too short for shitty coffee, right?
- 38:47SPEAKER_03: So the thing is,
- 38:48is having a coffee you enjoy and being able to turn that into a
- 38:52superfood is way
- 38:53SPEAKER_03: better.
- 38:53SPEAKER_03: So add a tincture, take a shot of a mushroom tincture.
- 38:57SPEAKER_03: One of the best ways to absorb it, absorbing mushrooms through the
- 39:00a gummy it's a different absorption methodology and the body
- 39:04processes the gummy
- 39:05totally different to a raw tincture under your tongue it may
- 39:08taste a little worse
- 39:10because it doesn't have the sweetness and it's not meant to
- 39:12it's not meant to taste
- 39:13like candy right so you want to just factor this into the
- 39:17choices on how you're
- 39:19SPEAKER_03: consuming these products because yeah you can get it in gummy form
- 39:22But there's a whole bunch of other sugars and sweeteners and
- 39:25flavors and like it
- 39:27SPEAKER_03: doesn't exist in a candy form in the tree like it just doesn't exist no
- 39:34it doesn't it doesn't and I and I yeah and if anyone studied
- 39:38like herb herbalism
- 39:39and things they talk about this that your body ingests and
- 39:41takes in herbs different
- 39:42ways you can smell it you can put it on your skin you can put
- 39:45it under you know and
- 39:46then you get it through the digestive tract but there is lots
- 39:49of different ways you
- 39:50can take it in but as we start to finish our time together Ben
- 39:53I asked the guests
- 39:54that come on the show if you could heal or change something in
- 39:56the world what would
- 39:57SPEAKER_03: it be I would heal
- 39:59SPEAKER_03: People's ability to process foods in a cleaner way.
- 40:03SPEAKER_03: So like less ingestinal tummy issues.
- 40:07And this was someone who I was I didn't realize I was pretty
- 40:10much dairy intolerant all my life.
- 40:12SPEAKER_03: I can remember many a time being sick.
- 40:14Like I thought eating a meal meant you go to the bathroom
- 40:18within five minutes and
- 40:19then you continue eating and then you go back to the bathroom
- 40:22and then you just
- 40:23SPEAKER_03: continue eating.
- 40:24SPEAKER_03: And I say,
- 40:25SPEAKER_03: when I first got married,
- 40:26got the taste from my mouth because it was my ex-wife that
- 40:30determined that I was
- 40:32SPEAKER_03: lactose intolerant.
- 40:33SPEAKER_03: I did not know.
- 40:35So I found it really hard giving up the butters and the ice
- 40:37cream and the dairy and
- 40:38SPEAKER_03: all this type of stuff.
- 40:40SPEAKER_03: But the benefit of that is significantly huge.
- 40:42SPEAKER_03: And when you talk to people,
- 40:43SPEAKER_03: they're just not aware of how upset or how messed up their stomach is.
- 40:49SPEAKER_03: And if you can't process
- 40:51SPEAKER_03: the nutrients and you can't eat right.
- 40:53SPEAKER_03: And if you're not eating quality, it really doesn't matter.
- 40:55SPEAKER_03: And I'm not saying you've got to go spend $100 on every single meal.
- 40:58SPEAKER_03: That's not what I'm talking about.
- 40:59SPEAKER_03: I'm like,
- 41:00just your ability to actually be able to process something so
- 41:05your body isn't
- 41:07SPEAKER_03: dealing with inflammation and turmoil.
- 41:08SPEAKER_03: I think...
- 41:09SPEAKER_03: Healing that would heal people of so many things downstream.
- 41:15SPEAKER_03: So many things we're fighting are inflammation-based.
- 41:19SPEAKER_03: And, like, you don't even realize that.
- 41:21So we treat so much stuff with that Band-Aid rather than going,
- 41:25hold on,
- 41:25this is cancerous.
- 41:26SPEAKER_03: Like, let's just cut the shit out and then we can heal.
- 41:30SPEAKER_03: So, yeah.
- 41:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 41:32SPEAKER_03: How about that?
- 41:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and I love that too.
- 41:35My naturopath explained that to me when I started working with
- 41:37him and he's like,
- 41:38if we don't fix your gut and your gut's ability to take in
- 41:41nutrients properly,
- 41:42SPEAKER_02: you might as well just be eating fast food all the time,
- 41:45SPEAKER_02: which is the names of brands,
- 41:46but you might as well just be eating fast food all the time
- 41:48because your body's
- 41:49SPEAKER_02: actually not taking any of the goodness out of what you're eating anyway.
- 41:53Yeah,
- 41:53and I had someone the other day literally go,
- 41:55Ben,
- 41:55I feel like my gut is on fire.
- 41:57SPEAKER_03: My throat just is just like...
- 41:59SPEAKER_03: I'm fine.
- 42:00SPEAKER_03: I've had all this stuff.
- 42:01SPEAKER_03: I've had all of it.
- 42:02SPEAKER_03: And I'm like, he's like, well, do you have anything that would help?
- 42:05SPEAKER_03: I'm like, I may have my lion's mane.
- 42:07SPEAKER_03: I've had a few people tell me that their reflux has just gone away.
- 42:10SPEAKER_03: I said, I can't guarantee it.
- 42:11SPEAKER_03: I'm just like, I know that this is what they tell me.
- 42:14SPEAKER_03: And I said, look, just try it.
- 42:16SPEAKER_03: See literally how you feel in five minutes.
- 42:18SPEAKER_03: He took it and then he was like, okay, I'll see how it feels.
- 42:22And he literally stood,
- 42:23he made 10 paces and he turns around and goes,
- 42:26holy shit.
- 42:27I feel that soothing me like nothing else has he goes I'll take
- 42:31two bottles because
- 42:32it's just like he goes it's instantaneous and when the good
- 42:34stuff works the good
- 42:36stuff works and like but that will make that made a massive
- 42:39difference for how he
- 42:41SPEAKER_03: was going to process
- 42:43like the next 30 days and allowing his gut to heal and as we
- 42:47spoke earlier like you
- 42:49can't heal your gut in in 24 hours like rebuilding your enzymes
- 42:55and that bacteria
- 42:56and the flora and fauna and all that type of stuff and dealing
- 42:58with the whole
- 42:59parasites and all this type of stuff it's a process and I just
- 43:03don't think people
- 43:04are really committed to that process nor do they understand it
- 43:08yeah or it's like
- 43:09SPEAKER_02: they just want the biohack or the quick fix right so
- 43:12yeah the biohacks is if I take these pills and I wash it down
- 43:16with this energy
- 43:16SPEAKER_03: drink we're golden
- 43:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, exactly.
- 43:20And if people want to come and buy your mushroom remedies or

- 43:51SPEAKER_02: I'd like to get on the ferret pigeon train.
- 43:53SPEAKER_03: Hey, you got to put those pigeons to work.
- 43:56SPEAKER_03: They can't just be shitting on stuff for no reason.
