- 1:49Speaker 3: We got a lot of stuff to get to. Of course,

- 2:08Speaker 3: And of course everybody's kind of looking ahead and hoping
- 2:11Speaker 3: that we get the matchup that we all want and
- 2:13Speaker 3: that would be of best. Virginia wins their game and
- 2:16Speaker 3: heard that wins their game, and then the two would meet.
- 2:18Speaker 3: So that's what we're hoping for. But you don't want
- 2:21Speaker 3: to count the proverbial chickens before they're hatched, So we'll
- 2:25Speaker 3: talk about TBT if we get a chance. A little

- 2:51Speaker 3: It's Friday, which means we welcome in our good friend
- 2:53Speaker 3: Angie Gillenwater from the Canal Charleston, Humaine Association with this
- 2:56Speaker 3: week's Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week. ANGI, Good
- 2:59Speaker 3: morning Friday.
- 3:01Speaker 5: Good morning and Thank goodness it's finally Friday.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Absolutely is always our pet of the week's picture posted
- 3:08Speaker 3: over on my social media. It's Dave Allen Radio on
- 3:10Speaker 3: Facebook and at dave a seventy on X and I
- 3:14Speaker 3: love this. The name is Officer Thickham's and we had
- 3:19Speaker 3: it's a cat this week by the name of Officer Thickhams.
- 3:21Speaker 3: If I were a cop, by the by the way,
- 3:23Speaker 3: my name would be Officer Thickhams. Just throwing that out there.
- 3:27Speaker 3: So story behind the name.
- 3:30Speaker 5: Anchie Officer Thickhams is a cat that came in and
- 3:34Speaker 5: sometimes unaltered unknewtered male cats will have very sick what
- 3:40Speaker 5: we call tomcat cheeks, uh huh. And so Officer Thickhams
- 3:45Speaker 5: is originates from how sick that his cheeks were when
- 3:50Speaker 5: he first came into the shelter.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Okay, I didn't know, because you know, sometimes I have
- 3:54Speaker 3: to ask you or Ryan, you know, to give me
- 3:56Speaker 3: the story behind the particular it's this when's it's obvious
- 4:01Speaker 3: he just had chubby cheeks. Now again his pictures clost
- 4:04Speaker 3: to the Dave Aland Radio on Facebook and at Dave
- 4:05Speaker 3: a seventy on X tell us the story of Officer Thickhams.
- 4:11Speaker 5: US Officer Dickhams was brought to the shelter of as astray.
- 4:16Speaker 5: The people that brought him in were just concerned about
- 4:19Speaker 5: his safety. They'd been taken care of him a couple
- 4:21Speaker 5: of days and he hadn't eaten anything. Uh So we
- 4:25Speaker 5: took him in and come to find out he didn't
- 4:27Speaker 5: eat anything because he hardly has any teeth lifts. So
- 4:31Speaker 5: we found out his recipe is wet food, so he's
- 4:36Speaker 5: able to eat wet food pretty easily. And now that
- 4:39Speaker 5: he you know, we discovered the root of the problem.
- 4:42Speaker 5: We got him neutered, fixed, vaccinated, all that good stuff,
- 4:46Speaker 5: and he is now living at pet Coat and he
- 4:49Speaker 5: is just the sweetest cat that you can imagine. He
- 4:52Speaker 5: loves to get head scratches and he loved catnip, So
- 4:57Speaker 5: he is just a sweet boy.
- 4:59Speaker 3: And you know, do you think about that? And you
- 5:01Speaker 3: don't know what his story is. As you said, he
- 5:02Speaker 3: was astray, so people were taking care of him and
- 5:04Speaker 3: they couldn't figure out why he wasn't eating because they
- 5:06Speaker 3: were probably putting out, you know, dry food, not knowing
- 5:09Speaker 3: if they can't really get close to him, you know,
- 5:11Speaker 3: they I mean, they probably thought they were doing the
- 5:13Speaker 3: right thing. But you know, you wonder how exactly did
- 5:17Speaker 3: he survive as astray. You don't know how long he
- 5:19Speaker 3: was astray if he just had to look for only
- 5:24Speaker 3: soft food.
- 5:25Speaker 5: Yeah, that is that is a head scrutcher. I hadn't
- 5:28Speaker 5: thought of that before, honestly, but yeah, that is a
- 5:31Speaker 5: good point. It's hard to tell how long he had
- 5:35Speaker 5: actually been out there looking for things that he could eat,
- 5:39Speaker 5: or what he was even eating at that point.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Yeah. Again, we're talking with Angie gillen Water from the
- 5:43Speaker 3: GNAAL Charleston Humane Association with the story of Officer thickhams
- 5:48Speaker 3: our adopting police put of the Week. So what did
- 5:50Speaker 3: the officer part? I get the Thickhams. Where did the
- 5:52Speaker 3: officer part come from?
- 5:55Speaker 5: I think we wanted to go with something that wasn't
- 5:57Speaker 5: like mister Thickhams.
- 5:58Speaker 3: Or perfect, so we gave it. We made him a
- 6:02Speaker 3: civil service employee. Okay, that's that's perfectly fine. So he
- 6:06Speaker 3: is around seven or eight years old, little if any teeth, obviously,
- 6:10Speaker 3: is going to have to have wet food, and he's
- 6:13Speaker 3: living it up now in the pet Goo penthouses, and
- 6:16Speaker 3: he is neutered vexed and ready to go home. We'll
- 6:19Speaker 3: continue the story of Officer Thickhams here momentarily, let's talk
- 6:22Speaker 3: about numbers. How are we looking out there, Angie?
- 6:26Speaker 5: Things are getting to a more manageable number. We're still
- 6:29Speaker 5: closed intake for sick and injured animals only. We're looking
- 6:33Speaker 5: at just under five hundred animals. Yesterday when I left,
- 6:36Speaker 5: we were around four.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Seventy in a building that's probably designed for what would
- 6:41Speaker 3: the optimal number be.
- 6:43Speaker 5: Usually anywhere between two fifty to three hundred.
- 6:46Speaker 3: And therein law is the problem. You're right around that
- 6:48Speaker 3: five hundred market in a building that's designed, you know,
- 6:51Speaker 3: to be two fifty to three hundred. And that's why
- 6:53Speaker 3: at this time the shelter can only take in sigur
- 6:55Speaker 3: injured animals. So what do you need? Know now? Right now?
- 7:00Speaker 3: I know that you always need things like puppy pads.
- 7:03Speaker 3: What's on the wish list right now.
- 7:06Speaker 5: Big needs right now are puppy pads, dog dog wet
- 7:09Speaker 5: food and Peurina kitten chow. Those are the things that
- 7:12Speaker 5: we're running really low in numbers.
- 7:14Speaker 3: On Doc and Ange Gildawater again from the Canal Charlest
- 7:17Speaker 3: New Mains association that ave Allancechell when five eighty Live
- 7:19Speaker 3: is brought to you in part by your hometown baseball team,
- 7:21Speaker 3: the Charleston Dirty Birds. Birds on the road this weekend
- 7:24Speaker 3: at Long Island and next week they're a high point.
- 7:25Speaker 3: They would turn home to go Martin Ballpark next Friday night.
- 7:28Speaker 3: For tickets, for mosting schedules, gear, merchandise and more, visit
- 7:31Speaker 3: Dirtybirds Baseball dot com. And you still try to do
- 7:33Speaker 3: some hiring there, right.
- 7:36Speaker 5: We are open interviews where yesterday and we had a
- 7:39Speaker 5: lot of people show up, a lot of new faces.
- 7:41Speaker 5: So we're hoping that those people come back and want
- 7:45Speaker 5: to work with us.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Well hopefully, because we have it's a struggle to find people.
- 7:51Speaker 3: And I mean we're not going to sugarcoat it's it's
- 7:53Speaker 3: a very demanding job, both mentally and physically working there.
- 7:58Speaker 5: Yes, and it does take a villain which one person
- 8:01Speaker 5: cannot do it all there, trust me.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Yeah, because I think you and a couple others are
- 8:05Speaker 3: that one or two people. Right, that's while you're trying
- 8:07Speaker 3: to but you've got a good team up there. But
- 8:09Speaker 3: hopefully we just need to add more members to the team.
- 8:12Speaker 3: Talk about this Adoptions after Dark event that you're doing tonight.
- 8:16Speaker 5: Yeah, I am very excited for adoptions after dark tonight,
- 8:20Speaker 5: we will be open until ten pm. So if you
- 8:22Speaker 5: have to work or you have nothing to do tonight,
- 8:25Speaker 5: we will be at the shelter open until ten pm
- 8:28Speaker 5: to process adoptions or process fosters. If you want to
- 8:32Speaker 5: come grab a late night snuggle buddy for the weekend.
- 8:35Speaker 5: We'll be there till ten o'clock tonight.
- 8:38Speaker 3: And let's talk about the need for fosters, because you know,
- 8:42Speaker 3: there's a lot of people, and we've told the stories before,
- 8:44Speaker 3: people that do this almost professionally. I mean they don't
- 8:48Speaker 3: get paid for it, obviously, but this is what they do.
- 8:50Speaker 3: I got a great, great friend of mine. He and
- 8:52Speaker 3: his wife are cat fosterers. That's what they do. Talk
- 8:55Speaker 3: about the need for fosters.
- 8:58Speaker 5: So fostering is the biggest re ward word that you
- 9:01Speaker 5: can have in the animal shelter sheltering world. It is
- 9:04Speaker 5: the fun and excitement and love of owning a pet,
- 9:09Speaker 5: but it's temporary. You can, you know, return them at
- 9:11Speaker 5: anytime to the shelter. It's a small, short term commitment
- 9:17Speaker 5: and we provide everything for our foster specifically, so you
- 9:21Speaker 5: literally don't have to spend a time to welcome a
- 9:24Speaker 5: pet into your home and take care of them until
- 9:27Speaker 5: they go to their forever homes. And fostering is just
- 9:30Speaker 5: a way. Like I said, it's perfect because it is
- 9:33Speaker 5: short term pet ownership.
- 9:34Speaker 3: And you've got your event coming up Kegs Curcainines, right.
- 9:39Speaker 5: Yes, Kegs Canines is creeping up on us.
- 9:41Speaker 3: And when is that? What's the date on them?
- 9:44Speaker 5: Do you believe that would be August to night? Okay,
- 9:47Speaker 5: it's the second Saturday in August.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Okay, second Saturday in August, all right, and we'll be
- 9:51Speaker 3: over there for that. We appreciate uh uh you guys
- 9:54Speaker 3: doing it because it's a great, great event. And you know,
- 9:56Speaker 3: it's interesting because last last night we had the the
- 10:01Speaker 3: celebration for our second anniversary of our classic rock station
- 10:04Speaker 3: ninety eight seven a Mountain and we were all I
- 10:06Speaker 3: had to move the location. Uh, there was circumstances me
- 10:09Speaker 3: on our control, but we ended up doing the party
- 10:11Speaker 3: at Fife Street and I ran in to a buddy
- 10:13Speaker 3: of mine named Mark down there and Mark and I
- 10:16Speaker 3: had known each other for a year or so and
- 10:18Speaker 3: he I saw him at Kegs for Canines last year
- 10:21Speaker 3: and he was actually adopting the dog that day, and
- 10:25Speaker 3: I got to hear the story about the dog that
- 10:26Speaker 3: name named Miller uh at the at the party last night.
- 10:30Speaker 3: So there was a success, a success story that came
- 10:32Speaker 3: out of Kegs for Canines last year.
- 10:35Speaker 5: Miller is such a good name for that particular event.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Yeah, well it is, and Mark Mark works in the
- 10:40Speaker 3: beverage industry. I think that's where the name came from.
- 10:43Speaker 3: The dog. The dog's lucky. He wasn't named Corona or
- 10:45Speaker 3: Cores or something, but uh uh. But anyway, my point
- 10:48Speaker 3: is is that when you have these events, you know
- 10:50Speaker 3: that there's always but there's great stories that go on
- 10:51Speaker 3: every day. Uh with the shelter, I mean, I had
- 10:54Speaker 3: so many of my friends that that choose to go
- 10:55Speaker 3: that route and go get a dog or cat or
- 10:57Speaker 3: whatever from from shelters, and we always encourage people to
- 11:01Speaker 3: do that. All right, Angie, I know you got a
- 11:03Speaker 3: lot of stuff going on, But again, I do want
- 11:05Speaker 3: to hit on the event tonight, the adoptions after dark
- 11:07Speaker 3: tell us about that again.
- 11:10Speaker 5: So again we are going to be at the shelters
- 11:13Speaker 5: twelve forty eight Greenbriar Street until ten pm tonight in
- 11:16Speaker 5: case you have to work or you just we're busy
- 11:19Speaker 5: throughout the day. Again ten pm tonight we will be
- 11:22Speaker 5: open processing adoptions and fosters for you to come see
- 11:26Speaker 5: the shelter after dark.
- 11:28Speaker 3: All right, got a couple of texts here for you.
- 11:30Speaker 3: One said, do you still need volunteers to take some
- 11:33Speaker 3: laundry for them?
- 11:35Speaker 5: So we our dryer is deciding to kind of work
- 11:40Speaker 5: for us. So we've got a system going now that
- 11:43Speaker 5: we can maintain the amount of laundry. I will say
- 11:46Speaker 5: laundry donations are always great, but we are okay on
- 11:51Speaker 5: people needing to take laundry home for us.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Okay. And somebody asks if whites this is the same texture,
- 11:57Speaker 3: and can whites be bleached or no, because they may
- 12:00Speaker 3: be a risk of allergic reactions in some of the animals.
- 12:03Speaker 5: Oh no, bleach. We love bleach at the shelter. It
- 12:07Speaker 5: sanitizes and gets rid of disease for us. So we love, love,
- 12:11Speaker 5: love love bleach.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Okay. I know that that's one of the things that's
- 12:13Speaker 3: frequently been on your wish list, is you know, from
- 12:16Speaker 3: time to time you Nixon bleach. All right, Angie, will
- 12:18Speaker 3: let you go and best of luck with your van.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Tonight we'll talk again next week.
- 12:22Speaker 5: Already sounds again. I have a good one you.
- 12:23Speaker 3: As well, Angie Gilliwater from the Canal Charleston Humane Association.
- 12:26Speaker 3: This week's Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week came
- 12:29Speaker 3: in as Astray. He's a beautiful black cat. I've got
- 12:31Speaker 3: his picture posted a Dave Allan Radio on Facebook and
- 12:33Speaker 3: at Dave eight seventy. I'm ex his name is Officer
- 12:37Speaker 3: Thickham's little if any teeth, so he's gonna have to
- 12:41Speaker 3: have some wet food. That's mainly what he has to have.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Very very sweet dog or cat rather. Currently a resident
- 12:51Speaker 3: of the Petco penhouses. He is neutered, vaccinated and ready
- 12:55Speaker 3: to go home. So if you're looking for an older cat,
- 12:57Speaker 3: absolutely sweet is what Angie was telling me last night.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Absolutely the sweetest cat in the world. Had a rough
- 13:02Speaker 3: go of it from what we understand, and he does
- 13:05Speaker 3: have to have soft food because he ain't got no
- 13:08Speaker 3: teeth or he's got very few. So let's try to
- 13:11Speaker 3: get to Officer Thickham's adopted the picture post of to
- 13:14Speaker 3: Dave Allen Radio on Facebook or at Dave a seventy
- 13:17Speaker 3: on x And we did have another text here animal
- 13:19Speaker 3: related to with a huge risk of flooding all around
- 13:22Speaker 3: the state over the next week. Can I ask everyone
- 13:23Speaker 3: to please make preparation evacuation plans for your pets and strays.
- 13:27Speaker 3: If you can pack your cars with carriers, food, bottled
- 13:30Speaker 3: water bowls, milk replacements for pups and kittens, medicines, leashes,
- 13:34Speaker 3: their favorite blankets or comfort toys. Remember they are family
- 13:37Speaker 3: and just as frightened as you are. A very very
- 13:39Speaker 3: good point. I do appreciate that. But Dave Allen showing

- 16:39Speaker 9: this year, I'm not a New Year's resolution guy. I
- 16:42Speaker 9: just thought I would up my walking game. And I thought,
- 16:44Speaker 9: I'll just try to up at maybe ten fifteen percent. Well,
- 16:47Speaker 9: I'm up about thirty five percent from last year, and
- 16:50Speaker 9: I walk every day since January the first. I'm averaging.
- 16:54Speaker 9: I'm averaging. I don't walk this much every day, but
- 16:57Speaker 9: I'm just averaging four point six miles a day, about
- 16:59Speaker 9: eleven thy four hundred steps. And if you just do
- 17:02Speaker 9: it every day, about sixteen pounds will mount off of
- 17:06Speaker 9: you just from walking and nothing else has changed. You know,
- 17:09Speaker 9: you always watch your diet, and I'm not the that's
- 17:12Speaker 9: probably my least health conscious habit is nutrition because you
- 17:16Speaker 9: and I, you know how we are.
- 17:17Speaker 3: I like, I started eating when I was really young,
- 17:20Speaker 3: and I just never got.
- 17:21Speaker 9: I never got used to not right, never got used
- 17:23Speaker 9: to not so. But walking is really a good thing.
- 17:26Speaker 9: It helps me with my it's just my mental, my
- 17:30Speaker 9: emotional my clearing of my mind. Sometimes I'm walking at
- 17:34Speaker 9: nine o'clock at night. Sometimes I'm walking at six am.
- 17:36Speaker 9: Sometimes I'm walking in the middle of the afternoon, just
- 17:39Speaker 9: when I have an hour break. You'll see me at
- 17:41Speaker 9: the mall. You'll see me walking around Capitol Street. You'll
- 17:43Speaker 9: see me walking on the boulevard. I just walk, and
- 17:47Speaker 9: it's really kind of it's kind of neat to watch
- 17:50Speaker 9: to feel good, and I have, And now I have
- 17:53Speaker 9: proof that I feel good. I think well, I feel good.
- 17:56Speaker 9: Now I have proof that I'm actually my physically, I'm
- 17:58Speaker 9: doing pretty good. I just my blood work back the
- 18:01Speaker 9: other day, thanks to the folks at Boon Memorial. Just
- 18:03Speaker 9: want to give them a little plug. We did that
- 18:05Speaker 9: Senior Expo. I was on talking with you about it
- 18:07Speaker 9: about three weeks ago, and I got my blood work
- 18:10Speaker 9: done at the Senior Expo because I'm a senior.
- 18:12Speaker 10: Dave.
- 18:13Speaker 9: Well, it came back remarkably. It really it was really
- 18:19Speaker 9: exciting to see the numbers of my blood work.
- 18:22Speaker 3: So had me hang in there for a minute, Jimmy,
- 18:24Speaker 3: because you were like, it came back really and I
- 18:26Speaker 3: thought you were going to go it came back really
- 18:28Speaker 3: bad or really good. I'm watching your face. Man.
- 18:31Speaker 9: It was remarkably stunningly good.
- 18:35Speaker 3: And I's awesome.
- 18:36Speaker 9: And even my doc this week said, you know, you
- 18:38Speaker 9: have the prostate and the blood and the cholesterol of
- 18:41Speaker 9: a healthy forty year old. And I'm sixty five in October.
- 18:44Speaker 9: So it's from walking. So I'm just really high on
- 18:48Speaker 9: walking now, and I encourage everybody to get out and walk.
- 18:51Speaker 9: I'll get a few steps in tonight. Here's my professional segue.
- 18:54Speaker 9: I'll get a few steps in the night with the
- 18:55Speaker 9: Moses Auto Group live on the Levee. I get a
- 18:58Speaker 9: lot of steps in down at the levee. I bet
- 19:00Speaker 9: a lot of steps in down there. But it is
- 19:01Speaker 9: season twenty one, week number five. We're finally back to
- 19:04Speaker 9: alive on the levee. I know we've got the regatta
- 19:07Speaker 9: behind us. And then the Friday after regatta we learned
- 19:10Speaker 9: years ago no sense, no, there's no sense in having
- 19:13Speaker 9: a live on the levee Friday after the regatta. We're
- 19:15Speaker 9: all like, no, I can't go down to the hat.
- 19:18Speaker 9: I can't go down to the park again. And so
- 19:21Speaker 9: it's back tonight, and we started at six o'clock down
- 19:24Speaker 9: at hat ed Riverfront Park. A local Guy Cross Lanes,
- 19:27Speaker 9: Guy Nathan Bess. He's a really talented singer song writer,
- 19:32Speaker 9: Is that right, singer songwriter? Yeah, And he's got just
- 19:35Speaker 9: kind of that unmistakable Appalachian West Virginia spirit and he
- 19:39Speaker 9: kind of blends in some country, Americana, some folk, and
- 19:43Speaker 9: he's got a really sensational show. He's got a couple
- 19:46Speaker 9: of folks behind him, and he's just a soloist. He'll
- 19:49Speaker 9: do an hour set from six to seven. So it's
- 19:52Speaker 9: kind of an alternative country night, I think, is how
- 19:55Speaker 9: we're maybe describing tonight, because then at seven point thirty,
- 19:58Speaker 9: I'm really excited to listen to and here I haven't
- 20:02Speaker 9: heard them live before. Chapel Heart. Chapel Heart will take
- 20:06Speaker 9: center stage down at Hadad River Fun Park. They're a
- 20:09Speaker 9: family band at a Mississippi, Mississippi, Mississippi, and they were
- 20:14Speaker 9: on America Scott Talent. They soared all the way to
- 20:17Speaker 9: the top five, a little Landewish sort of thing, and
- 20:20Speaker 9: they didn't win it, but they were up there, made
- 20:22Speaker 9: a big splash for themselves, and then they headed off
- 20:24Speaker 9: to the Grand Ole Opry. They have like an electrifying
- 20:29Speaker 9: twist or alternative to country. It is country, but it's
- 20:33Speaker 9: a dance country. It's an alternative country. It's a fun country,
- 20:36Speaker 9: it's an upbeat country. It's electrifying twist to country music
- 20:40Speaker 9: is how they described it. With really an unforgettable country sound.
- 20:45Speaker 9: So it's a small town but they got a big
- 20:47Speaker 9: town sound. And they're going to come to Charleston, West
- 20:50Speaker 9: Virginia tonight and I look forward to really what I'm
- 20:53Speaker 9: considering a superstar performance by Chapel Heart. They'll do ninety
- 20:56Speaker 9: minutes from seven thirty to nine, and then we're doing
- 21:00Speaker 9: and the drawing for the charity at nine o'clock now
- 21:02Speaker 9: instead of eight forty from years past. And we're still
- 21:06Speaker 9: helping those five charities. Our CCR, Covenant House, the Sojourner
- 21:10Speaker 9: Shelter tonight is the YWCA Sojourner Shelter. I do know
- 21:13Speaker 9: that Man and Meal and the KVC Collective, we've raised
- 21:17Speaker 9: one hundred and twenty seven thousand dollars now as I
- 21:20Speaker 9: keep track of that, the last twenty plus seasons. So
- 21:24Speaker 9: we're back at it. We hope we dodge the shower tonight.
- 21:28Speaker 9: It looks like a shower maybe, but I don't think
- 21:30Speaker 9: it's going to settle in so it might bring the
- 21:33Speaker 9: humidity down a little bit. I don't know if it'll
- 21:35Speaker 9: be a big boat night out on the Canal River,
- 21:38Speaker 9: but it should be a nice evening weatherwise, once the
- 21:42Speaker 9: shower comes and goes, even if it does come, and
- 21:45Speaker 9: so come down, give it a shot, get your bite
- 21:48Speaker 9: deep and enjoy, joya beverage. It's time to get your
- 21:51Speaker 9: family back out to the levee there and enjoy some
- 21:55Speaker 9: music after we kind of put the regatta. Man, it
- 21:58Speaker 9: was a big regatta, wasn't it. It was hot, but it
- 22:00Speaker 9: was a big regard. I mean a lot of fun
- 22:02Speaker 9: and this. You know, we're just going to continue the summer.
- 22:05Speaker 9: The summer's about half over, but boys, it going quickly.
- 22:09Speaker 9: And if you've not had a chance to get down
- 22:11Speaker 9: to the levee, I'm here to tell you you don't
- 22:14Speaker 9: have a boatload of chances left. We're gonna we're gonna
- 22:17Speaker 9: do August the first. I'll just put a little tea's
- 22:20Speaker 9: out there. August the first will be the back to
- 22:22Speaker 9: school night for the kid os, and so we're going
- 22:24Speaker 9: to cater to the kids on back to school night.
- 22:27Speaker 9: I know the city's working. There might be a makeup
- 22:29Speaker 9: for one of the levees that we got rained out
- 22:31Speaker 9: earlier in the year. No promises there, but just let
- 22:35Speaker 9: people know. August the first will be the last regularly
- 22:38Speaker 9: scheduled live levee, but we may have a bonus makeup.
- 22:42Speaker 9: But we'll keep you posted right here. But in the meantime,
- 22:46Speaker 9: come down tonight Nathan Best at six for sixty minutes.
- 22:50Speaker 9: Chapel hearts seven thirty until nine. Come down and enjoy.
- 22:55Speaker 9: It's also gonna be Bridge Valley Community and Technical College
- 22:58Speaker 9: School tonight. The President, Casey Sachs, who you know yesterday
- 23:04Speaker 9: I missed her yesterday. I love her to death. Casey,
- 23:06Speaker 9: you're doing a great job. President Sachs will be down
- 23:08Speaker 9: there tonight say a few words about Bridge Valley and
- 23:12Speaker 9: they'll be there to handing out some informations to learn
- 23:15Speaker 9: more about Bridge Valley tonight down at the levee. And
- 23:18Speaker 9: of course our other sponsors will be down there, the
- 23:20Speaker 9: Health pan and Brewer and Company, lou Wendell Marine Poker
- 23:24Speaker 9: Valley has been a nice sponsor this year, and of
- 23:27Speaker 9: course Dave, you always are sweet to have us on
- 23:29Speaker 9: and we appreciate WBrC Media and you guys all your
- 23:33Speaker 9: family of stations over here, all the sister stations. You've
- 23:36Speaker 9: been great to help us promote this all year, and
- 23:38Speaker 9: the city's done a heck of a job. I mean,
- 23:41Speaker 9: I don't there's like four or five people that work
- 23:43Speaker 9: at the city that do all this, you know that.
- 23:44Speaker 9: I mean, it's unbelievable what they get done in the
- 23:47Speaker 9: course of the summer and the year. So hats off
- 23:50Speaker 9: to the mayor, Hats off to Matt and Ben and
- 23:52Speaker 9: Jane and Miranda, Tina, and of course the public works
- 23:55Speaker 9: and then the parks and wreck. But there's a handful
- 23:57Speaker 9: of people that do an awful lot of work from
- 23:59Speaker 9: city Hall to make our town so vibrant. You you
- 24:01Speaker 9: always brag about it about you know what. I just yes,
- 24:04Speaker 9: we have our challenges, but boy, I just Dave, you're great.
- 24:07Speaker 9: You're such an advocate and ambassador, much like I think
- 24:10Speaker 9: I like to think I am. But we love this place.
- 24:13Speaker 9: I mean, it's a good place to.
- 24:14Speaker 3: If I get an opportunity. After the next segment, I
- 24:16Speaker 3: am going to talk about down. I was in downtown
- 24:18Speaker 3: Charleston last night. We had the Mountain's Birthday party over
- 24:22Speaker 3: at five Streets, and I mean there and with the
- 24:26Speaker 3: bad weather. Everybody was kind of keeping an eye on
- 24:28Speaker 3: in the sky. We had a major thunderstorm that rolled
- 24:30Speaker 3: through six thirty seven o'clock or so last night. It
- 24:34Speaker 3: was it was amazing how many people walking around in
- 24:37Speaker 3: downtown Charleston last night. By the way, our good friend
- 24:39Speaker 3: Marrily mcculloughugh from WWKGBC just sent me a text to
- 24:43Speaker 3: remind people that it's also WWK knight.
- 24:45Speaker 9: Very nice. Thank you Marrily for that. WWK will be
- 24:47Speaker 9: in the house tonight. I never know who the TV
- 24:50Speaker 9: sponsor is until I get down there.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I appreciate it. Wanted to make sure that I.
- 24:55Speaker 9: Love working with John Faussett and Merrily and all the
- 24:57Speaker 9: folks over there in Spencer now so so tonight's weather's on, Spencer.
- 25:01Speaker 3: I'm gonna say that I was gonna be earlier, Spencer,
- 25:04Speaker 3: Brian Christ I mean, you guys are.
- 25:06Speaker 9: Throw me a solid fellas, throw me a solid night.
- 25:08Speaker 3: Don't screw this up. I'm with you, thanks Merrily, But yeah,
- 25:13Speaker 3: I mean downtown Charleston last night, on a Thursday night,
- 25:17Speaker 3: on a stormy night, incredible, the amount of people that
- 25:20Speaker 3: were in downtown Charleston last night. I mean, I was
- 25:22Speaker 3: I was completely blown away by it, and I'll talk
- 25:26Speaker 3: about that a little bit later on. All right, so
- 25:28Speaker 3: you only after tonight, you only got one more, well
- 25:30Speaker 3: one more scheduled all Moore Scarce will be back to
- 25:32Speaker 3: School night, so that's gonna be really really catered to
- 25:35Speaker 3: the kiddo's.
- 25:35Speaker 9: There'll be lots of vendors handing out school supplies and
- 25:38Speaker 9: different things and getting kids ready for school. Whether you're
- 25:41Speaker 9: going to first grade, kindergartener, all the way up to college.
- 25:43Speaker 9: It's going to be back to school. So that should
- 25:45Speaker 9: be fun. But in the meantime, tonight should be fun.
- 25:48Speaker 9: Nathan Best at six Chapel Heart at seven point thirty.
- 25:51Speaker 9: Come down, get your bite, get your beverage, enjoy the music,
- 25:56Speaker 9: and it's complimentary. So yeah, thanks to the City of Charleston.
- 26:00Speaker 9: Thanks to you folks for coming down all summer. We'll
- 26:01Speaker 9: see you tonight, all right.
- 26:02Speaker 3: Thanks you about drawing Live on the Levee twenty seven
- 26:04Speaker 3: minutes away from Tamaday Island showing five eighty Live is
- 26:07Speaker 3: brought to you parted by Morgan to Morgan, America's largest
- 26:09Speaker 3: injury law firm. Before we'll let you go, Jim, I
- 26:11Speaker 3: got a little bit of time I won't ask you
- 26:12Speaker 3: something else, anything else, what's next on your radar, because
- 26:14Speaker 3: I know you're here talking about Live on the Levee,
- 26:16Speaker 3: but you always got something going on.
- 26:17Speaker 9: Well, I'm tickled to death that you asked me. I'm
- 26:19Speaker 9: just going to put a bug in some people's ears
- 26:21Speaker 9: for what I think is a pretty big weekend September
- 26:24Speaker 9: the twentieth Mountaineers Night Out. Oh yeah, fundraiser for the
- 26:28Speaker 9: West Virginia Kids Crusaders and Kids with Cancer. And we're
- 26:31Speaker 9: going to also help benefit the Boberdett Center on the
- 26:36Speaker 9: West Side, but we're kind of well, I'm not going
- 26:39Speaker 9: to go there. We're having it's a Mountaineers tailgate party
- 26:44Speaker 9: at the Red Carpet Pavilion. September the twentieth. Will be
- 26:47Speaker 9: watching It's a football It's a WU football watching EXTRAVAGANCEA
- 26:51Speaker 9: September twentieth, we played Kansas, the Jayhawks. We hope the
- 26:54Speaker 9: kickoff is about three point thirty. We don't know when
- 26:56Speaker 9: the kickoff will be, but the event will start two
- 26:59Speaker 9: hours prior to the kickoff, so if it's three thirty,
- 27:01Speaker 9: obviously one thirty. It's a tailgate party. We'll have pork sandwiches,
- 27:05Speaker 9: and wings and beverages and you come and you just
- 27:08Speaker 9: watch them Mountain near football and we have some fun
- 27:11Speaker 9: in between. We have some music. Wood You will be there,
- 27:13Speaker 9: Steve Z will be there, The animal will be there.
- 27:16Speaker 9: You folks are helping us out again. W wwk's our
- 27:20Speaker 9: TV sponsor for this, but it's just a big WVU
- 27:24Speaker 9: tailgate party raising money for kids with cancer and the
- 27:28Speaker 9: Bomberdett Center. That is September twentieth, and then I'll be
- 27:31Speaker 9: on again to talk more about that. But then the
- 27:33Speaker 9: next day a pretty big event that WVRC media is
- 27:37Speaker 9: getting behind and we appreciate you guys. But Lea's Legacy,
- 27:40Speaker 9: the third annual Lea's Legacy will be happening on September
- 27:44Speaker 9: the twenty first. That's a Sunday. You mentioned Five Street
- 27:47Speaker 9: Brewery went off the air there with me. But it's
- 27:49Speaker 9: gonna be right there on Summer Street, across from the
- 27:51Speaker 9: Fifth Street five Street Brewery at Slack Plaza. We'll start
- 27:55Speaker 9: at five o'clock. This is the young lady Leis Strickland

- 28:05Speaker 9: what we're going to honor her, we're gonna remember her,
- 28:07Speaker 9: we're gonna etch her legacy even deeper. And they started
- 28:10Speaker 9: this thing. It's in his third year. We hope to
- 28:12Speaker 9: have a thousand folks out there participating and raising money
- 28:15Speaker 9: for the Leah Strickland Memorial Scholarship Fund, and they've already
- 28:19Speaker 9: handed out some scholarships system high school students, student athletes
- 28:23Speaker 9: who were going to go on to the next level
- 28:26Speaker 9: and compete at the next level. Yours truly is honored
- 28:30Speaker 9: to service to Master's ceremony. Wood he will be there

- 28:44Speaker 9: a fun event. Lots of great vendors, food vendors, spirited
- 28:48Speaker 9: beverages vendors, and we're going to have runners from age
- 28:52Speaker 9: three up to one hundred and three. And we hope

- 29:02Speaker 9: you can get registered. I recommend registering the whole family.
- 29:06Speaker 9: And we're still looking for sponsors. So again, just like
- 29:10Speaker 9: we were just talking before the levee, there's there's usually
- 29:13Speaker 9: something to do in this town. Yeah, there's usually something
- 29:15Speaker 9: that that's just one weekend.
- 29:16Speaker 3: There's gonna be more than that. TVT going on. This
- 29:19Speaker 3: much fun and of course it was just announced a
- 29:20Speaker 3: couple of days ago that the Mountaineers I was at
- 29:22Speaker 3: the press conference. The Mountaineers will even Deacons.
- 29:24Speaker 9: We'll be playing the September December, the sixth December the
- 29:28Speaker 9: sixth on a Saturday. Yeah, it should be fun.
- 29:31Speaker 3: The same weekend as the football Championship that are going on.
- 29:34Speaker 3: And of course everything with you know Holly Jolly Brawley
- 29:37Speaker 3: at that time, and the light that selling gole all.
- 29:40Speaker 3: I mean, so a lot of stuff going on.
- 29:42Speaker 9: I was bragging down to City Hall, but of course
- 29:43Speaker 9: we got it, you know, brag on Tim and the
- 29:45Speaker 9: cv B. Between the City Hall and the CVB and
- 29:47Speaker 9: the County Commission, I can't keep up with these people,
- 29:50Speaker 9: and I'm trying.
- 29:50Speaker 3: I got good energy and you got good numbers. I
- 29:52Speaker 3: got good numbers to go with it. Sticking around at
- 29:55Speaker 3: Jim Searrean, I appreciate you being here, man, I appreciate you.

- 32:54Speaker 13: Com made news yesterday about an event that actually took
- 32:57Speaker 13: place earlier in the month, a major major drug bus
- 33:01Speaker 13: and I do want to bring it now the mayor
- 33:03Speaker 13: of Hurricane Scott Edwards to talk about a mayor.
- 33:06Speaker 3: Good morning, Welcome to the show.
- 33:08Speaker 10: Hey, good morning to you, my friend how are you
- 33:09Speaker 10: doing today?
- 33:10Speaker 3: I am doing fine, all right. So Aaron Parker has
- 33:14Speaker 3: the story in photos posted over wv metronews dot com.
- 33:16Speaker 3: Why can you tell us about this drug bus? Mayor?
- 33:20Speaker 10: Well, one of our officers, Wesley Allen, I mean, he
- 33:24Speaker 10: was patrolling about seven pm one evening it was actually
- 33:27Speaker 10: July the eighth, and was doing a traffic stop and
- 33:31Speaker 10: guy took off and ran a little bit and did
- 33:34Speaker 10: that type of thing. They caught up with them, and anyway,
- 33:36Speaker 10: long story short, they noticed a bunch of drugs and
- 33:39Speaker 10: drug paraphernea in the car, and fast forward to what
- 33:43Speaker 10: they found, and they found thirty one grams of sentinel,
- 33:48Speaker 10: plus the whole bunch of other stuff, one hundred and
- 33:50Speaker 10: sixty some grams of crack cocaine, you know, four grams
- 33:53Speaker 10: of oxy, some xanax, a bunch of THHC. But the
- 33:57Speaker 10: big thing that stood out in my mind was that
- 34:00Speaker 10: thirty one grams of sentinel.
- 34:01Speaker 3: Yeah, and put that into perspective for people to know
- 34:04Speaker 3: this about what that means.
- 34:06Speaker 10: So thirty one grams of fentanyl is thirty one thousand
- 34:10Speaker 10: milligrams a sentinel. Two milligrams of sentinel can be deadly
- 34:15Speaker 10: that's where the dea two milligrams, So thirty one thousand
- 34:19Speaker 10: divide about two is fifteen thousand, five hundred. So just
- 34:23Speaker 10: in that one vehicle, there was enough fentinel to kill
- 34:26Speaker 10: over fifteen thousand people. And that just rips through me
- 34:29Speaker 10: that this that sentinel is near and in Hurrican and
- 34:34Speaker 10: it kills me that it's in our country like it is.
- 34:37Speaker 10: And again, we got that amount off the street, but
- 34:39Speaker 10: there's so much more. I mean, and it kills people.
- 34:41Speaker 10: And we've talked about this for years and I hate it.
- 34:44Speaker 3: Do we have any idea? I know that it's an
- 34:46Speaker 3: ongoing investigation. I don't want to do anything to jeopardize that.
- 34:49Speaker 3: But do we have any any clue? Or can you
- 34:51Speaker 3: say was it a local person? Was it somebody driving through?
- 34:54Speaker 3: Where did it take place? I mean, I know it was,
- 34:57Speaker 3: you know, within the city Hurricane.
- 34:58Speaker 10: I can yeah, I can tell you it took place
- 35:00Speaker 10: right at the interchange in a hurry can getting off
- 35:05Speaker 10: the interstate and over to and near the McDonald's and
- 35:09Speaker 10: Putnam County Bank. Other than that, it is an ongoing investigation.
- 35:13Speaker 10: I can't give the other details.
- 35:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I completely understand, but we don't know And when
- 35:17Speaker 3: you can release that information. I'm sure that you will,
- 35:21Speaker 3: because there's a lot of folks that are, you know,
- 35:22Speaker 3: asking was this somebody local? Somebody driving through? But again,
- 35:24Speaker 3: we don't want to do anything to jeopardize that investigation.
- 35:27Speaker 3: So we'll just wait our time on that because we
- 35:30Speaker 3: want to help you guys out as soon as possible.
- 35:32Speaker 3: I mean, that's the thing that got me, Mayor was
- 35:34Speaker 3: I first read this story. I think that you posted
- 35:36Speaker 3: on social media was the amount of fentanyl? And again
- 35:38Speaker 3: I'm not a drug expert many stretch of the imagination,
- 35:41Speaker 3: but I talked to Sheriff Egleton, and I tell Sheriff
- 35:43Speaker 3: Crawford and other police for folks on this show all
- 35:47Speaker 3: the time. I mean, we're talking about enough to kill.
- 35:50Speaker 3: As you said, how.
- 35:50Speaker 10: Many people fifteen five hundred people?
- 35:54Speaker 3: Fifteen thousand, five hundred and that is a that's a
- 35:56Speaker 3: conservative estimate, and plus all the other drugs that were
- 36:00Speaker 3: that were in there as well. So how did the okay,
- 36:03Speaker 3: so how did the arrest happen? I mean the officer
- 36:06Speaker 3: saw something suspicious. Was a traffic violation? Take us through that?
- 36:09Speaker 10: Yeah, so there was a traffic violation. The guy ran
- 36:14Speaker 10: not very far and I think he ended up on
- 36:16Speaker 10: the dead end area over near Putnam County Bank and
- 36:18Speaker 10: McDonald's and stopped and when the officer approached, they basically
- 36:24Speaker 10: saw drugs and drug paraphernalia. So it's it's amazing that
- 36:28Speaker 10: if you're a drug dealer that you would have stuff
- 36:31Speaker 10: out like that.
- 36:32Speaker 3: I mean, you know, come on, I mean, I think
- 36:35Speaker 3: that guy should have been arrested just for being stupid,
- 36:38Speaker 3: you know. I mean, it's like, how do.
- 36:39Speaker 10: You know, I don't. I don't know if that's a
- 36:41Speaker 10: state charge or not. I'll look through the charges again,
- 36:44Speaker 10: and I don't think that's a state charge. But I
- 36:46Speaker 10: think a lot of a lot of our law enforcement
- 36:48Speaker 10: friends would would agree with you.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Well, they would stay busy all the time doing that
- 36:51Speaker 3: because there's a reason why. And look, I laugh about this,
- 36:54Speaker 3: and I said, but I've said this all you know
- 36:56Speaker 3: through the years, mayor that there's a reason why the
- 36:58Speaker 3: criminals will never, never truly win because they're inherently stupid, uh,
- 37:03Speaker 3: or they wouldn't be doing it to begin with. This
- 37:04Speaker 3: is why that they eventually it becomes a dead end
- 37:08Speaker 3: road because people who commit crimes like this are inherently stupid.
- 37:11Speaker 5: Uh.
- 37:11Speaker 3: And he just had it out like that. Well, you know,
- 37:13Speaker 3: thank goodness that the officer chose to make that that
- 37:17Speaker 3: stop on a traffic violation, because it could have gone
- 37:20Speaker 3: a whole lot. I mean, they could have just said
- 37:21Speaker 3: any officer could have just said, look, it's traffic violation.
- 37:25Speaker 3: At the end of the day, I'm going home, and
- 37:26Speaker 3: and nobody with the amount officers and the amount of
- 37:29Speaker 3: hours that officer's working, probably nobody would blame them.
- 37:32Speaker 10: Correct, correct, And I will tell you this is one
- 37:36Speaker 10: of many. Somebody asked me yesterday, they said, Mary, are
- 37:38Speaker 10: you surprised at all this? I said, not really. I
- 37:41Speaker 10: mean you can you can. You could pull any any
- 37:43Speaker 10: police department that does this type of interdiction and and
- 37:47Speaker 10: and you know has a lot of traffic stops. They
- 37:50Speaker 10: see this stuff all the time, and it doesn't surprise me.
- 37:54Speaker 10: Now this is this is a lot of fen on
- 37:56Speaker 10: this one. But you could pull any of them and
- 37:58Speaker 10: they would they would say this thing, and it's just
- 38:02Speaker 10: it doesn't end. We just have to keep it out
- 38:03Speaker 10: of our country. That's that's the big thing. We've got
- 38:05Speaker 10: to stop it from even entering our country, and then
- 38:08Speaker 10: we can stop it from entering our state. And our city.
- 38:11Speaker 3: Right on a happier note, Mayor, it's Food Truck Friday and.
- 38:16Speaker 10: Hurricane it is Food Truck Friday. And it's actually it
- 38:19Speaker 10: rained a little bit earlier, but the weather looks perfect.
- 38:22Speaker 10: Food Truck Friday at Hurricane City Park. It's will be
- 38:25Speaker 10: amazing today. It's eleven o'clock to two o'clock. And I
- 38:29Speaker 10: will tell you there's no jumbo trons in Hurricane today.
- 38:32Speaker 10: So bring whoever you want and come on out to
- 38:35Speaker 10: Food Truck Friday and have some awesome food. But no
- 38:39Speaker 10: jumbo trons here in Hurricane today. If you know what
- 38:41Speaker 10: I'm saying, Yeah, I got you.
- 38:43Speaker 3: I got you. We had a text here and if
- 38:45Speaker 3: you can't answer it, I completely understand a text. You
- 38:47Speaker 3: want to know what state was the car from?
- 38:48Speaker 10: Where?
- 38:49Speaker 3: Can you say that?
- 38:50Speaker 10: I can't say any of that right now? Perfect?
- 38:52Speaker 3: None of that perfectly understandable, all right, Mayor anything else
- 38:56Speaker 3: exciting going on to the town while we got.
- 38:57Speaker 15: You on here.
- 38:59Speaker 10: No but kill Billy Hibachi's Sabergrace Barbecue and crash the
- 39:02Speaker 10: co ice cream or at food Truck Friday.
- 39:04Speaker 3: That's all you need to know.
- 39:05Speaker 10: There's lots going on, Hurrican, but we'll catch you on
- 39:08Speaker 10: the next one.
- 39:08Speaker 3: All right. I appreciate it. Mayor, thanks a lot, my friend,
- 39:11Speaker 3: have a great day as well, Mayor Scott Edwards. And again,
- 39:14Speaker 3: I saw that post on social media last night and
- 39:17Speaker 3: I was just like, wow, that is that is so
- 39:20Speaker 3: much fentanyl. I mean, that's enough to I mean, and again,
- 39:24Speaker 3: please be patient with the mayor and with the with
- 39:26Speaker 3: the police officers investigating, because they're just not at a
- 39:29Speaker 3: position right now where they can, uh where they can
- 39:33Speaker 3: you know, put that information out there. But they're very good,
- 39:36Speaker 3: very transparent there, and I'm sure that they'll get the
- 39:38Speaker 3: information out there just as soon as possible. I understand.
- 39:41Speaker 3: We've got a phone call. Let's go to our friend Jim.
- 39:44Speaker 3: You're on the show.
- 39:45Speaker 15: Good morning, sir, Good morning today.
- 39:49Speaker 3: I'm doing fine.
- 39:50Speaker 15: How are you all sad? I want to get a
- 39:54Speaker 15: little tip about Spencer asked last night, I was watching
- 40:00Speaker 15: and the weapon and progress of the storms that were
- 40:05Speaker 15: coming to the area, and he said that the storms
- 40:10Speaker 15: would be there in Charleston at seven o'clock. At seven
- 40:16Speaker 15: o'clock there was a fright of thunder and it started raining,
- 40:25Speaker 15: and I said, Maine, he was just spot on.
- 40:29Speaker 3: He always is.
- 40:32Speaker 15: Always always, So that's another center in the cam for
- 40:37Speaker 15: w WK and Merrily and people. I don't know the
- 40:45Speaker 15: MAINDA will be because have to work at the station.
- 40:51Speaker 15: She's been a little bit under the weather. Will she
- 40:53Speaker 15: be with you today?
- 40:55Speaker 3: As of right now, the plan has to have a
- 40:58Speaker 3: be back with us today at noon. She has, as
- 41:00Speaker 3: you said, Jim, feeling a little under the weather, and
- 41:02Speaker 3: anytime she takes off she's sick. And she has been.
- 41:05Speaker 3: But as of our email exchange that I get from
- 41:08Speaker 3: her at about two o'clock in the morning, I'm long
- 41:11Speaker 3: in bed by that point, but I do understand that
- 41:14Speaker 3: miss Baron is scheduled to be back with us today.
- 41:18Speaker 15: That's great, So listen, you have.
- 41:22Speaker 3: Weekend all right, Jim, you as well appreciate it. It's

- 41:35Speaker 3: lot of texts to get to this morning. Texts says
- 41:39Speaker 3: heard the bird scooters went belly up. Actually I had
- 41:43Speaker 3: a text to the show to the network show not
- 41:46Speaker 3: long ago asking about the bird scooters here in Charleston,
- 41:50Speaker 3: and from what I have been able to gather in
- 41:53Speaker 3: talking to different people, and don't I don't want to
- 41:56Speaker 3: put any incorrect information out there, but I believe there
- 41:59Speaker 3: is a and you are called a story. They brought
- 42:02Speaker 3: these scooters in Charleston, and Councilmanimic Pepper was one of
- 42:05Speaker 3: the people that was really really high on this thing.
- 42:07Speaker 3: Some others as well, to have these scooters that you've
- 42:09Speaker 3: seen in larger city. Matter of fact, smaller cities. They
- 42:12Speaker 3: even did them in Saint Albans where people could basically,
- 42:15Speaker 3: you know, use them and put them back somewhere when
- 42:17Speaker 3: they were done, and so on and so forth. I
- 42:19Speaker 3: also got some information that that company was struggling through
- 42:25Speaker 3: no fault of the City of Charleston or any of
- 42:27Speaker 3: the other cities that they've utilized. And I don't want
- 42:29Speaker 3: to throw the company into the bus, but I am
- 42:31Speaker 3: hearing that that company had some financial issues. And that's
- 42:35Speaker 3: why you haven't seen a whole lot or heard a
- 42:36Speaker 3: whole lot about the scooters. Nothing that the city or
- 42:39Speaker 3: anybody else did wrong, and it just had to do
- 42:41Speaker 3: with the company that's over over the scooters, won't we understand?
- 42:47Speaker 3: Tech says it would ease a lot of people's minds,
- 42:50Speaker 3: especially parents, if Putnam officials could at least let them
- 42:53Speaker 3: know it was not someone from their area, not a neighbor.
- 42:57Speaker 3: But I understand about risking the investigation. Yeah, absolutely, And
- 43:00Speaker 3: we don't want to do anything to do. I mean,
- 43:02Speaker 3: I don't know, and I don't want to, you know,
- 43:06Speaker 3: try to second guess what's going on here. But when
- 43:08Speaker 3: you live in an area like that and you see
- 43:12Speaker 3: somebody that gets pulled over with that amount of drugs
- 43:17Speaker 3: in the vehicle, I can say it. I don't expect
- 43:20Speaker 3: the mayor of the police to say it. I can
- 43:21Speaker 3: say it. I'm gonna go ahead and probably guess it
- 43:23Speaker 3: was from somebody from out of town because normal people.
- 43:27Speaker 3: I mean, I'm not trying to get it ahead of
- 43:28Speaker 3: drug dealers here, but I'm just saying, are going to
- 43:31Speaker 3: be smart enough not to pack up the whole operation
- 43:34Speaker 3: in a car in one night? That just kind of
- 43:37Speaker 3: goes without saying, I would think, But again, criminals are
- 43:39Speaker 3: inherently stupid, so who knows. But I'm sure as soon
- 43:43Speaker 3: as the information is available, they'll get it out to us.
- 43:45Speaker 3: Tex says, Dave Mayor Scott Edwards is great involved mayor
- 43:50Speaker 3: and we're fortunate to have him as the leader of
- 43:51Speaker 3: the city of Hurricane. Thanks. I would agree with that,
- 43:55Speaker 3: Tex says, Hoping the mayor can find a way to
- 43:59Speaker 3: know what all this getsche men are going doing riding
- 44:02Speaker 3: around Hurricane on little girl's bicycles with backpacks on their backs.
- 44:06Speaker 3: That's not normal behavior, I would agree. I don't know
- 44:10Speaker 3: that that's exclusive to Hurricane, because you see a heck
- 44:12Speaker 3: of a lot of those in Charleston, Saint Albans, Nitro
- 44:14Speaker 3: Dunbar everywhere else. Grown men who are real, big tough guys,
- 44:19Speaker 3: who see nothing wrong with riding around on stolen little
- 44:21Speaker 3: girl's bicycles. And you know, I can't even get a

- 48:27Speaker 3: to think what time am Amanda Baron has been under

- 48:46Speaker 3: are going to put those folks into spotlight today. Yesterday,
- 48:49Speaker 3: during the presser kind of took people by surprise, the
- 48:51Speaker 3: White House presser yesterday afternoon actually happened while I was
- 48:54Speaker 3: on the air yesterday with Metro News Midday, was announced
- 48:58Speaker 3: about a medical condition having surrounding our president to Donald Trump,
- 49:02Speaker 3: and doctor Clay marsh is going to join us on

- 49:18Speaker 3: several days, all the way up till at least Tuesday
- 49:20Speaker 3: or Wednesday. There's at least a chance of heavy rain
- 49:22Speaker 3: and storms at any given time. Sow a few of
- 49:24Speaker 3: those in the area last night and expected to see
- 49:27Speaker 3: more meteorologists show Fitzwater. We'll join us to talk about that,
- 49:30Speaker 3: and of course open Line West Virginia coming up to
- 49:32Speaker 3: thirty to three Metro News Midday powered by Selango Law
- 49:35Speaker 3: coming up noon to three with thirteen News in tonight
- 49:37Speaker 3: live of anchor Amanda Baron and me later today. I
- 49:40Speaker 3: did want to mention this real quick. By the way,
- 49:42Speaker 3: thank you so much to everybody that joined us for
- 49:44Speaker 3: our birthday celebration for our sister station ninety eight seven,
- 49:48Speaker 3: a Mountain Wild and Wonderful Classic Rock. Due to unforeseen circumstances,
- 49:52Speaker 3: we were forced at the nearly the last minute, not
- 49:55Speaker 3: quite the last minute, but we were forced to move
- 49:58Speaker 3: the party from our original location over to Fife Street
- 50:02Speaker 3: of five Street Brewery on Summer Street. Big shout out
- 50:05Speaker 3: to those folks at five Street, because when when you
- 50:09Speaker 3: call a business and you say, hey, we're going to
- 50:12Speaker 3: have a birthday party for a radio station, invite two
- 50:15Speaker 3: or three hundred people will be there in three hours,
- 50:18Speaker 3: you could imagine that they were like what, but they
- 50:23Speaker 3: were very accommodated us. So big shout out to the
- 50:25Speaker 3: folks at five Street because we just had a great
- 50:28Speaker 3: party over there last night, celebrating the second anniversary of
- 50:30Speaker 3: our sister station ninety eight seven, the Mountain Wild and
- 50:33Speaker 3: Wonderful Classic Rock, which cheap plug you can hear me
- 50:35Speaker 3: on every Sunday between noon and seven spending some great
- 50:38Speaker 3: classic rock. But the one thing that I mentioned this
- 50:40Speaker 3: early when I was talking to Jim Strawt, that I
- 50:43Speaker 3: was really amazed at. You know, I went back to
- 50:47Speaker 3: Tay's Valley where I lived last night. Yesterday afternoon, picked
- 50:50Speaker 3: up my wife, we came back to Charleston for the
- 50:53Speaker 3: event over at five Street, and I was absolutely blown
- 50:58Speaker 3: away with the number of people that were in downtown
- 51:02Speaker 3: Charleston last night. Now keep in mind, it's stormy weather.
- 51:05Speaker 3: It's been predicted. We didn't know when we're going to
- 51:07Speaker 3: have a heck of a thunderstorm. And we did have one.
- 51:09Speaker 3: As Jim said, about seven o'clock last night, we had
- 51:11Speaker 3: one that rolled through downtown Charleston, major, major rain there
- 51:14Speaker 3: for a little bit and then it kind of cleared up.
- 51:16Speaker 3: But the amount of people that were in downtown Charleston.
- 51:20Speaker 3: We parked in one of the parking buildings, my wife
- 51:21Speaker 3: and I did, and we walked over and had our
- 51:24Speaker 3: little party there at five Street and getting shout out
- 51:27Speaker 3: to those folks, but not just five Street, all of
- 51:30Speaker 3: the restaurants around it, the streets of Charleston, and I
- 51:32Speaker 3: think Artwalk was going on last night. They were absolutely packed.
- 51:37Speaker 3: And I say that to say this, Charleston is a
- 51:40Speaker 3: city that's got its issues. Every city does, every small town,
- 51:44Speaker 3: every big city, they all got issues. But you hear
- 51:47Speaker 3: this all the time about people trashing Charleston and saying
- 51:53Speaker 3: these things about you know, it's not safe. And I've
- 51:55Speaker 3: read a post of a day that somebody said there's
- 51:57Speaker 3: nothing in downtown Charleston. Are you kidding me? I mean,
- 52:01Speaker 3: you're gonna really say there's nothing going on in Charleston.
- 52:04Speaker 3: And if it was any indicating last night was in
- 52:06Speaker 3: the indication all those people as much as we would
- 52:09Speaker 3: like to think, so we're not there just because of
- 52:11Speaker 3: the Mountains. Party at five Street downtown Charleston last night
- 52:15Speaker 3: was bustling, It was booming. There were people everywhere, the
- 52:18Speaker 3: kind of people that you want downtown. So I say
- 52:21Speaker 3: hats off to the people that are doing good things
- 52:22Speaker 3: in Charleston. I've been a critic from time to time,
- 52:24Speaker 3: but last night, man, I'm gonna tell you it was.
- 52:27Speaker 3: It was booming. It's gonna be booming this weekend with
- 52:29Speaker 3: a TBT over at the Colisema Convention Center as well.
- 52:32Speaker 3: So we'll be checking out that action, all right. Gotta go,
- 52:35Speaker 3: Ryan Nicholson, our producer, thank you so much. Thank you
- 52:37Speaker 3: to Jim Strawd and Gie Gillenwater and also Mayor Scott
- 52:40Speaker 3: Edwards of Hurrican See you later today on Metro News Midday.
- 52:43Speaker 3: So then have fun and love somebody.
- 53:00Speaker 2: I say maybe six point five that then Charleston one
- 53:02Speaker 2: oh four point five Cross Lanes, w VRC Media Station.
- 53:07Speaker 2: We are proud to live here too,
