- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome to jag Zam.
- 0:17Speaker 2: I'm Pinami Stevens, Mark Dufner, and John Oser are in
- 0:20Speaker 2: with me today as we bring you your first show
- 0:22Speaker 2: of the off season. We've taken about a month off
- 0:24Speaker 2: to kind of look back at things super Bowl, the
- 0:26Speaker 2: rest of the playoffs have gone on, so now it's
- 0:28Speaker 2: time to get back into what the Jaguars are doing
- 0:30Speaker 2: this offseason and what some of the big news that
- 0:32Speaker 2: happened over the past couple of weeks. So let's go
- 0:34Speaker 2: over our big things for you. Our first big thing,
- 0:37Speaker 2: Number one is going to be back in action. There
- 0:39Speaker 2: was a huge coaching shift throughout the NFL. About a
- 0:42Speaker 2: third of the head coaching positions were open this year,
- 0:44Speaker 2: and there was some questions about whether the coordinators here
- 0:48Speaker 2: in Jacksonville we're gonna be coming back now John.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Fortunately, looks like Grant.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Agency and Anthony Campanila are gonna be here again for
- 0:54Speaker 2: their second season. John, what's a big part of why
- 0:58Speaker 2: it's so important to kind of keep this daft year
- 1:00Speaker 2: as long as you.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Can well continuity?
- 1:02Speaker 4: And I'm anxious to hear uh Duff's thoughts on it
- 1:04Speaker 4: because he's been in it and knows how important that is,
- 1:07Speaker 4: but look, uh, they got things going last year. Grant
- 1:11Speaker 4: Yudinsky is very important for his ability to uh get
- 1:16Speaker 4: with Trevor Lawrence during the week and show him what's
- 1:19Speaker 4: gonna be happened on the field. He's going to be
- 1:23Speaker 4: a head coach in this league someday, probably in twenty
- 1:26Speaker 4: twenty seven. Uh, he's too good a coach not to be.
- 1:28Speaker 4: And look Campanelli, Uh, uh duff the players.
- 1:34Speaker 3: I've been around a lot of coaches.
- 1:36Speaker 4: I'm not sure I've been around a coach that players
- 1:39Speaker 4: love playing for and respond to and buy into quite
- 1:43Speaker 4: as much as camp I'm sure they bought into you.
- 1:46Speaker 4: But but you know there is something to that player's
- 1:50Speaker 4: belief in these an and the players believe in both
- 1:52Speaker 4: of these guys.
- 1:53Speaker 5: No no question about it. And I mean that's huge
- 1:56Speaker 5: for this coaching staff to stay together. Consistent consistency, which
- 1:59Speaker 5: you talked about, is the best and both of these
- 2:02Speaker 5: guys have I think, great futures right now. The energy
- 2:05Speaker 5: of the enthusiasm that they demonstrate the connection with the
- 2:08Speaker 5: players off the chart. And you're right, I see the
- 2:13Speaker 5: following that the players have with Campaneli, especially on defense.
- 2:16Speaker 5: I mean, defense is a lot of emotion and enthusiasm
- 2:19Speaker 5: and belief like that, and he certainly leads that with
- 2:22Speaker 5: this group in a big.
- 2:23Speaker 6: Big way.
- 2:24Speaker 4: Yeah, Bye and Ky, We've talked about it before. Everything
- 2:27Speaker 4: coaches do x's and o's wise is great to me.
- 2:31Speaker 4: If players believe in them, that's ninety percent of it.
- 2:34Speaker 4: And they believe in both of these guys.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Yeah, and we saw what they did in year one,
- 2:38Speaker 2: so I'm sure we're expecting even better in year two.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Our big thing number two is going to be free agency.
- 2:43Speaker 1: We've talked about some of the.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Big names on this team, Travis Utn, of course, Devin Lloyd.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Both those guys are going to be free agents. But
- 2:49Speaker 2: there's also needs to be a focus on this roster
- 2:51Speaker 2: building because as mentioned, this is going to be only
- 2:54Speaker 2: the second season with this current regime.
- 2:56Speaker 1: They're still trying to build their perfect team.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Duff.
- 2:59Speaker 2: When you look at the roster, where's a position group
- 3:01Speaker 2: that they need to focus on during free agents?
- 3:03Speaker 5: Well, I think you've always got to look at how
- 3:05Speaker 5: you can affect and protect the quarterback. So first and foremost,
- 3:09Speaker 5: I think affecting the quarterback, if we could gain another
- 3:12Speaker 5: edge rusher and also some interior defensive line help to me.
- 3:17Speaker 6: You know, we certainly demonstrate the ability to stop to run,
- 3:20Speaker 6: but to.
- 3:20Speaker 5: Affect the quarterback internally and externally, meaning on the edge
- 3:23Speaker 5: and inside, would be big, big things. And then anything
- 3:26Speaker 5: you can do to continue to protect Trevor Lawrence in
- 3:29Speaker 5: terms of the offensive line. And then I think you
- 3:31Speaker 5: can never not have a cornerback or a guy on
- 3:34Speaker 5: the edge in the secondary to help. So those areas
- 3:37Speaker 5: would be ones I think we should focus on.
- 3:39Speaker 3: It's gonna be interested doe what happens.
- 3:41Speaker 4: I'm not sure unfortunately that Lloyd needs to handle me back.
- 3:46Speaker 4: So if you lose Lloyd, then all of a sudden,
- 3:49Speaker 4: you know, you're wondering, do you need to bring in
- 3:51Speaker 4: a lower priced linebacker. You can find interior linebacker for
- 3:58Speaker 4: less than Devin. Lloyd will make a veteran guy who can,
- 4:03Speaker 4: you know, be savvy, who can help a Foyer get
- 4:06Speaker 4: the minute out of place.
- 4:07Speaker 3: But I'm with Duff.
- 4:08Speaker 4: I think interior defensive line be it by trade, be
- 4:12Speaker 4: it by free agency. You know, Devon Hamilton big time
- 4:17Speaker 4: year last year was probably as good as any. Nose
- 4:19Speaker 4: cycle penetration would really help Trayvon and Josh Haines down
- 4:23Speaker 4: on the outside. I think interior defensive line is the
- 4:27Speaker 4: area to watch on this team.
- 4:29Speaker 2: All right, let's go to our final big thing today,
- 4:31Speaker 2: which is gonna be plans for number twelve. Now, this
- 4:33Speaker 2: isn't necessarily news to us here and people that follow
- 4:36Speaker 2: the Jaguars frequently, but the national news reporting this week
- 4:39Speaker 2: after some reports out of NFL Network that Travis Hunter
- 4:42Speaker 2: is going to be mainly a cornerback and he'll be
- 4:44Speaker 2: featured at times as a wide receiver on offense.
- 4:46Speaker 1: John, I don't think that's necessarily.
- 4:48Speaker 2: New information to us, but it also feels like it's
- 4:49Speaker 2: a fluid situation, and from the feeling that we get,
- 4:52Speaker 2: at least I've gotten from the team is it's gonna kind.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Of change week to week.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Yeah, this sounded like there may have been some interpretation
- 5:00Speaker 4: involved with what somebody heard. I think it's very fluid,
- 5:05Speaker 4: and I think they're definitely gonna see he's going to
- 5:09Speaker 4: be a starter at corner. Whatever that means in terms
- 5:13Speaker 4: of snaps every play, I don't know, but he's a
- 5:15Speaker 4: front line corner and he is a full time guy
- 5:18Speaker 4: on that side of the ball. But I think it
- 5:21Speaker 4: was it was it was going to start looking like
- 5:23Speaker 4: that in the second half of last season.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Anyway.
- 5:26Speaker 4: I think there might be games where he plays a
- 5:28Speaker 4: huge role offensively. There might be games where he plays
- 5:32Speaker 4: more of a uh, you know, Swiss Army Knight offensively.
- 5:37Speaker 4: But I think he's going to be an impact player
- 5:40Speaker 4: on both sides. Full time snaps on defense, half the
- 5:44Speaker 4: snaps on offense. I don't know what to look like,
- 5:46Speaker 4: but he's gonna matter on offense.
- 5:49Speaker 5: Yeah, I think you've got an explosive player there, an
- 5:51Speaker 5: elite athlete that can be a factor and a game
- 5:54Speaker 5: wrecker on both sides of the ball. I like the
- 5:57Speaker 5: focus of maybe majoring him at corner and letting him
- 6:00Speaker 5: go there. But I also think that, boy, you've got
- 6:03Speaker 5: an explosive touchdown waiting to happen on offense. So thank
- 6:07Speaker 5: god we've gone him and thank god we've got him back.
- 6:09Speaker 5: I mean, he's like an extra draft pick this year
- 6:11Speaker 5: based on his participation from last season. So amen to
- 6:14Speaker 5: all this.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I think too, Kai with Travis.
- 6:18Speaker 4: When he left last year meeting, when he got hurt,
- 6:22Speaker 4: the offense was still sort of figuring it out.
- 6:25Speaker 3: You didn't know exactly what it was.
- 6:27Speaker 4: When he comes back this year, you sort of know
- 6:30Speaker 4: what Jakobe Myers is, what Brian Thomas Junior is, what
- 6:33Speaker 4: these guys are, and how it all works.
- 6:37Speaker 3: I think it will be easier for them to find
- 6:39Speaker 3: the role each week for him to play.
- 6:42Speaker 4: Because it felt like they were still sort of figuring
- 6:45Speaker 4: it out in the first seven weeks.
- 6:46Speaker 2: So last year absolutely, and it'll be another year he's
- 6:48Speaker 2: had with the playbook as well, which we know if
- 6:50Speaker 2: he's learned two positions can be kind of difficult to
- 6:52Speaker 2: do as a rookie, so we'll keep an eye on that.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Sam's here on jag Zam.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Coming up after the break, we'll talk a little bit
- 6:57Speaker 2: about the news we've seen across the NFL the past
- 6:59Speaker 2: couple of weeks. Welcome back in the jag Dam here
- 7:10Speaker 2: this morning, as we kind of catch you up on
- 7:12Speaker 2: some of the things that had been going on. We
- 7:13Speaker 2: haven't been around for about a month, so we're gonna
- 7:15Speaker 2: go over some of the stuff it's gone down in
- 7:17Speaker 2: the NFL the past couple of weeks. So obviously before
- 7:19Speaker 2: the Super Bowl, they had NFL honors and two of
- 7:22Speaker 2: the Jaguars were amongst the voting, Trevor Lawrence amongst the
- 7:25Speaker 2: MVP votes. I think he finished fifth, and then Liam
- 7:28Speaker 2: Cohen up woar Coach of the Year he finished second,
- 7:30Speaker 2: and Mike Rable obviously who's in the Super Bowl, and
- 7:32Speaker 2: Matt Stafford won MVP this year. Uh, John, I know
- 7:35Speaker 2: we all think Trevor's ore MVP, but it felt like
- 7:38Speaker 2: a little It's it's tough when he was playing so
- 7:41Speaker 2: well at the end of the season, but I feel
- 7:42Speaker 2: like some people get stuff in their minds earlier in
- 7:45Speaker 2: the year, so that can be kind of hard to
- 7:46Speaker 2: swigh their mind.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:47Speaker 4: Uh, to get into the top five was a major
- 7:51Speaker 4: accomplishment for Trevor because of where it started. I mean
- 7:54Speaker 4: when the season started, he was coming off an injury.
- 7:57Speaker 4: He had had two years that I think he would
- 7:59Speaker 4: tell you weren't great. I thought that by the end
- 8:04Speaker 4: of the year he probably deserved to be number two
- 8:07Speaker 4: in the MVP voting. I don't think he was gonna
- 8:09Speaker 4: beat Stafford. Stafford was unbelievable and very consistent all year.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Uh.
- 8:13Speaker 4: But again, to be in the top five was terrific
- 8:16Speaker 4: for him. I thought the Coach of the Year made sense.
- 8:18Speaker 4: I think Liam lost by what like four or five votes.
- 8:21Speaker 4: I mean it was very close.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Vrabel.
- 8:23Speaker 4: They finished fourteen and three to the Jaguars thirteen and four.
- 8:28Speaker 4: Liam's in my mind, was the best coach in the
- 8:30Speaker 4: NFL this year, or or deserved it, But I I
- 8:33Speaker 4: didn't have a problem with him being a narrow second
- 8:36Speaker 4: of Rabel.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Those two guys I thought should have been the top two.
- 8:39Speaker 5: Two worthy candidatesh for a coach of the year, But uh,
- 8:42Speaker 5: Liam Cohen in his first year, doing what he did
- 8:45Speaker 5: the way he uh, I thought, revolutionized this team in
- 8:48Speaker 5: a lot of ways, attitudely and every other way. I mean,
- 8:51Speaker 5: Jeesel unbelievable job, and uh, across the board the coaching
- 8:55Speaker 5: staff included uh, both worthy candidates. But I'm I'm for
- 8:59Speaker 5: coach Cohen just like you said, and what a terrific
- 9:01Speaker 5: job he did coaching. And then Trevor like you like
- 9:04Speaker 5: we also, I saw the evolution of this players this
- 9:06Speaker 5: season went on, and there wasn't a better quarterback in
- 9:08Speaker 5: the league at the end of the season. I'm with you,
- 9:11Speaker 5: Kai and that you know, sometimes it's gotta be start
- 9:14Speaker 5: to finish, But boy, this second half of the season
- 9:17Speaker 5: certainly goes down as one of the best rounds. So
- 9:19Speaker 5: well done by him.
- 9:20Speaker 3: If it had been the last eight games.
- 9:22Speaker 4: I think they both win the award, which to me,
- 9:25Speaker 4: the awards are secondary to the fact that I think
- 9:29Speaker 4: Liam is a coach for fifteen to twenty years in
- 9:32Speaker 4: this league.
- 9:33Speaker 3: I mean, I think he's an innovator. I think he's
- 9:35Speaker 3: way ahead.
- 9:36Speaker 4: He's one of the guys setting the pace and determining
- 9:40Speaker 4: how offense is gonna be played. I think Trevor's gonna
- 9:43Speaker 4: ride that wave. I think they are set at those
- 9:45Speaker 4: two positions.
- 9:46Speaker 5: Liam mature beyond his years right now. And then I
- 9:48Speaker 5: think you've also got to mention the what I call
- 9:51Speaker 5: the Three Wise Men, the great job that James Gladstone,
- 9:53Speaker 5: Tony Bisselli and the head coach did bringing gold Franken
- 9:57Speaker 5: Sampson Murray right here to Jacksonville. I mean, look the results.
- 10:00Speaker 5: I mean, if I'm an external coach on another team
- 10:04Speaker 5: or a GM or something, I want to know what's
- 10:06Speaker 5: going on in Jacksonville.
- 10:07Speaker 6: Because it's going very, very well.
- 10:08Speaker 3: I'm gonna have trouble looking at the selling and thinking
- 10:10Speaker 3: of him as one of.
- 10:11Speaker 6: The Well, let's not. I still think it's got some
- 10:17Speaker 6: some similarity, for sure.
- 10:19Speaker 3: That's a good analogy.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I think it's cool league wise, at least when I
- 10:21Speaker 2: look at, you know, Coach of the Year specifically, a
- 10:24Speaker 2: bunch of those guys are their first year with their
- 10:25Speaker 2: new team, like McDonald is the second year. But what
- 10:29Speaker 2: that shows throughout the league now, and I think what
- 10:31Speaker 2: we've noticed, at least with all the coaching openings, which
- 10:33Speaker 2: we'll talk about in a second, UH.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Franchises want success right away.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Like you're looking at this, You're looking at liamcong when
- 10:38Speaker 2: he Disness first year, Rabel in his first year, even
- 10:41Speaker 2: Ben Johnson in Chicago his first year there.
- 10:43Speaker 1: It can be done.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Not trying to make it sound simple by any means,
- 10:47Speaker 2: but I've noticed a little bit of a shift and
- 10:50Speaker 2: it feels like maybe that patience isn't there as much anymore.
- 10:52Speaker 4: John Well, the patients went out the window fifteen twenty
- 10:58Speaker 4: years ago.
- 10:58Speaker 6: Got that?
- 10:58Speaker 3: Were you ever around a patient or you got that?
- 11:02Speaker 4: But yeah, it's I think a lot of it is
- 11:06Speaker 4: what I talked about with Campanelli earlier. So much of
- 11:10Speaker 4: it is the coaching staff's ability, uh to come in
- 11:14Speaker 4: and have the total buy in and to change the culture,
- 11:18Speaker 4: and every coach tries to do it. I don't know
- 11:22Speaker 4: if there's something where players are connecting to the young coaches.
- 11:25Speaker 3: I think you can overplay that a little bit.
- 11:27Speaker 4: I think the person himself has to be really talented,
- 11:30Speaker 4: and to.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Me, duff being around Liam a little bit.
- 11:34Speaker 4: I knew in February or March of last year that
- 11:36Speaker 4: he was going to be able to call plays. You
- 11:37Speaker 4: could talk to anybody in the league about that. He
- 11:39Speaker 4: was going to be an ex's and o's guy. What
- 11:42Speaker 4: you don't know about a guy until they're in front
- 11:44Speaker 4: of the room or until they're in that position, is
- 11:47Speaker 4: can they steer the ship? And to me, that's where
- 11:51Speaker 4: Liam was off the charts. I don't know if people
- 11:53Speaker 4: who hired him knew that he was ready to do
- 11:55Speaker 4: that good a job in year one, but he is
- 12:00Speaker 4: an unbelievably good leader.
- 12:02Speaker 6: Of that well, no question.
- 12:03Speaker 5: And the players recognize that they can tell if you're
- 12:06Speaker 5: genuine or not. He garnered very quickly trust and respect
- 12:11Speaker 5: of his players. They knew this guy was a genuine guy,
- 12:14Speaker 5: a guy that cared about them, that cared about their
- 12:16Speaker 5: ability to get better each and every week. And they
- 12:20Speaker 5: know that when players feel that and a guy, then
- 12:22Speaker 5: they're going to follow that guy. And again, I think
- 12:24Speaker 5: Anthony Edinski layam all of them demonstrate those traits that
- 12:28Speaker 5: the players bought into and believed in.
- 12:31Speaker 6: That's the key. There was no phoniness. It's trust, respect and.
- 12:34Speaker 5: Care that made these guys successful, and they connected that
- 12:36Speaker 5: with the players.
- 12:37Speaker 4: That's interesting you say that because I've met are a
- 12:41Speaker 4: lot of coaches. I've never been around a successful one
- 12:45Speaker 4: who wasn't genuine no doubt.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Yeah, And I think what's cool just to share our
- 12:49Speaker 2: perspective because we're around them a little bit more. It
- 12:52Speaker 2: felt like whatever player, whatever level you were on in
- 12:55Speaker 2: this team, whether you're practice squad, whether you're a star
- 12:58Speaker 2: on this star on this team, someone that's already been paid,
- 13:01Speaker 2: if you played well and you do what they're asking
- 13:03Speaker 2: of you, you were going to get playing time. And
- 13:04Speaker 2: I don't feel it's always that way in the NFL.
- 13:06Speaker 2: I think sometimes people get tied into, oh, well, I
- 13:09Speaker 2: need to start this guy because of the optics or
- 13:11Speaker 2: it has to look like this and stuff it. At
- 13:14Speaker 2: least from my perspective being around Liam, it really felt
- 13:17Speaker 2: like the players appreciated, Hey, if I go bust my button,
- 13:19Speaker 2: do what they want me to do, I'm going to
- 13:21Speaker 2: earn playing time on the field, no.
- 13:22Speaker 6: Question about it.
- 13:23Speaker 5: And that was demonstrated week after week in terms of
- 13:25Speaker 5: how guys were activated.
- 13:27Speaker 6: How guys had participation in games.
- 13:29Speaker 5: And that's why this is going to be a sought
- 13:32Speaker 5: after destination for players in whether it be in free
- 13:35Speaker 5: agency or if I'm a draftable player. Right now, I'm
- 13:38Speaker 5: hoping I'm coming to Jacksonville. I've seen what they've done
- 13:41Speaker 5: with this roster. I've seen the participation. I can play here,
- 13:44Speaker 5: i can compete here.
- 13:45Speaker 6: I'm cared about here. Those are the components you're looking for.
- 13:48Speaker 3: At three names, maybe different levels.
- 13:51Speaker 4: Parker Washington, Antonio Johnson, and Matt Dickerson now great by
- 13:56Speaker 4: the end of the year. Matt Dickerson was, if not
- 13:59Speaker 4: a starter, a rotational guy in the defensive Why Antonio
- 14:04Speaker 4: Johnson nobody really knew last February if he was going
- 14:08Speaker 4: to roll on the team and Parker Washington was number
- 14:12Speaker 4: four receiver in OTAs major those the three guys will
- 14:18Speaker 4: play a lot next year, Parker and Antonio maybe second
- 14:21Speaker 4: contract guy, sure, And that speaks to what you're talking about.
- 14:26Speaker 3: There's no preconceived notions with this bunch.
- 14:28Speaker 4: Hey, if you were drafted fourth round, whatever, whatever you
- 14:31Speaker 4: did before, it's as much a key to what they
- 14:34Speaker 4: did last year as anything.
- 14:35Speaker 5: Well, well, look at also look at the participation of
- 14:37Speaker 5: sregaw and green undrafted guy, undrafted guys that were active,
- 14:41Speaker 5: that got opportunities to play, that were productive. I mean,
- 14:44Speaker 5: I mean again, it's up and down the roster right now.
- 14:47Speaker 5: So I think, again, boy, I think it's awesome what's
- 14:50Speaker 5: going on here.
- 14:51Speaker 4: I know we run along, but I want to ask
- 14:52Speaker 4: you why is that so hard? Because it's unique. It
- 14:58Speaker 4: hasn't been like that around here for a while.
- 15:00Speaker 3: You know.
- 15:01Speaker 5: I think sometimes staffs get kind of reliant on players
- 15:05Speaker 5: and and you know, they over they overplay them, or
- 15:08Speaker 5: they you know, they over use them in some respects,
- 15:10Speaker 5: and so you know, the easy choice sometimes is just
- 15:13Speaker 5: to go with what you know, have we done? This
- 15:16Speaker 5: group has been very, very good at again trying to
- 15:20Speaker 5: develop everybody, not just the starter, not just the star,
- 15:23Speaker 5: but the entire roster from top to bottom. And then,
- 15:27Speaker 5: as Kai mentioned, if you do put forth and you
- 15:30Speaker 5: do work hard, you're gonna get an opportunity to play.
- 15:32Speaker 6: They have not.
- 15:32Speaker 5: That hasn't just been words or lips. It's been the real.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Deal as well.
- 15:37Speaker 2: For the future to amen, So a little super Bowl
- 15:40Speaker 2: I always have to watch when you're not in it.
- 15:41Speaker 2: But I made some snacks, so I was happy and
- 15:44Speaker 2: I was just eating the whole time. But the Patriots
- 15:47Speaker 2: kind of losing a blowout to the Seahawks. Obviously we
- 15:49Speaker 2: played the Seahawks, John, we saw what they can do
- 15:51Speaker 2: on defense. I was certainly not surprised by that, how
- 15:54Speaker 2: dominant they were able to be. But you know, it
- 15:57Speaker 2: always feels like a little bit of a missed opportunity
- 15:59Speaker 2: when you see the play like that.
- 16:01Speaker 4: Well, especially when you felt like there were to me,
- 16:05Speaker 4: there were six teams they see all who could have
- 16:07Speaker 4: gone the Texans.
- 16:08Speaker 3: We all know the teams. Uh the Jagglers were one of.
- 16:10Speaker 4: Them, and it and it did make you thank boy.
- 16:15Speaker 4: One break here, one match up here.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Uh. I thought the Super.
- 16:19Speaker 4: Bowl was interesting in that and uh, duff, you've been
- 16:22Speaker 4: around as long as I have. The Seahawks to me,
- 16:25Speaker 4: felt like a throwback team, like a seventies or eighties team,
- 16:28Speaker 4: where all of a sudden you look up and they're
- 16:30Speaker 4: playing for field position, they're playing for field goals. They're
- 16:33Speaker 4: leaning on their defense, which is not really what's vogue
- 16:36Speaker 4: in the NFL.
- 16:37Speaker 3: Take me points. Yeah, it showed you can still win.
- 16:41Speaker 4: You can still be dominant if your lines are that
- 16:44Speaker 4: much better than the rest of the league.
- 16:46Speaker 3: Case. To me, those lines were outstanding.
- 16:48Speaker 5: No question, and that you know, we've always said that's
- 16:50Speaker 5: where the games are won. They're one of the on
- 16:52Speaker 5: the line of scrimmage when you see the the play
- 16:54Speaker 5: of their defense and their special teams.
- 16:57Speaker 6: I mean, whether it was your.
- 16:58Speaker 5: Punter, whether it was her field goal point getter, if
- 17:00Speaker 5: you will kicker, as far as.
- 17:02Speaker 6: That's concerned, I mean, it was awesome. It was a
- 17:04Speaker 6: clinic really in terms of.
- 17:06Speaker 3: You know, folloumental Yeah, correct.
- 17:08Speaker 5: Fundamentals that can win the game for you. And really,
- 17:11Speaker 5: you know, New England was similar to that too. They
- 17:13Speaker 5: were playing pretty close to the vest, maybe too close
- 17:16Speaker 5: and in a lot of ways in terms of what
- 17:18Speaker 5: they were doing offensively. But you know, if you're a
- 17:21Speaker 5: defensive coaching but tickler special teams guy, it's a pretty
- 17:24Speaker 5: darn good game.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I just felt like they won the mental battle too,
- 17:27Speaker 2: because I felt like as much as they got after
- 17:30Speaker 2: Drake May early on, and I know he's a young quarterback,
- 17:32Speaker 2: but then even by the second half when they made adjustments,
- 17:34Speaker 2: it wasn't going to make a difference.
- 17:36Speaker 3: At that point.
- 17:36Speaker 2: And that's just impressive to me that they Seattle. Just
- 17:40Speaker 2: the way they approached that game, and probably the way
- 17:43Speaker 2: they approached the whole season due to McDonald and kind
- 17:45Speaker 2: of the way they were going about things, I felt
- 17:47Speaker 2: like they won it before it even began.
- 17:48Speaker 5: Well, I tell they came out right from the get
- 17:50Speaker 5: go and established it. Hey we're coming after you. You know,
- 17:53Speaker 5: they mixed it up in terms of whether it was
- 17:55Speaker 5: four man rush zone, pressures, fire zones, zero blitz, full blitz.
- 18:00Speaker 6: They mixed that up, and.
- 18:01Speaker 5: They really rush and coverage working together, the Skies working together.
- 18:05Speaker 6: They gave Drake me the entire book and it was
- 18:08Speaker 6: tough for him to operate with that.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Yeah, there are some teams.
- 18:11Speaker 4: I mean, they weren't particularly flashy, but I remember watching
- 18:15Speaker 4: them out here that day when they won, and the
- 18:19Speaker 4: entire season.
- 18:20Speaker 3: I kept saying, I know, the jay Wars can get
- 18:22Speaker 3: to the super Bowl.
- 18:24Speaker 4: You felt like they may have been able to figure
- 18:26Speaker 4: out some things against the Rams if it had been
- 18:27Speaker 4: the Rams, And I just kept saying, I don't know
- 18:31Speaker 4: how any team.
- 18:32Speaker 3: From the AFC.
- 18:33Speaker 4: As much as I would have hoped the Jaguars would
- 18:35Speaker 4: have won, I just felt like Seattle. It was one
- 18:39Speaker 4: of those years where I did feel like there was
- 18:41Speaker 4: a big difference between the first team and the rest
- 18:43Speaker 4: of the teams. Now, I know that doesn't add up
- 18:45Speaker 4: because the Rams beat them and closed between those two.
- 18:48Speaker 4: But sometimes not every year, but sometimes it feels like
- 18:53Speaker 4: the best team won it.
- 18:54Speaker 3: I don't think you can argue that Seaws weren't the
- 18:56Speaker 3: best teams.
- 18:56Speaker 6: Ye, no, I thought they were very good.
- 18:58Speaker 5: But I will also say, you know, when you know
- 19:01Speaker 5: that we we played them, I think twenty to twelve
- 19:03Speaker 5: I think was our score in the game. I mean,
- 19:05Speaker 5: and as the season went on, shoot, I felt I mean, shoot,
- 19:08Speaker 5: we should have beaten Buffalo in the playoffs. I mean,
- 19:10Speaker 5: they didn't scare me or scare this team. And when
- 19:13Speaker 5: you look at it, I have great confidence, great feeling
- 19:16Speaker 5: that things, you know, staying strong, like they are moving forward.
- 19:21Speaker 6: I think the future is very bright.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Absolutely's talk a little bit about some changes elsewhere in
- 19:25Speaker 2: the league. We saw a ton of head coaching vacancies,
- 19:29Speaker 2: some of them swapping head coaches, head coach going to
- 19:31Speaker 2: head coach somewhere else, to fancy going from Cleveland in Atlanta, as.
- 19:35Speaker 1: We've seen elsewhere.
- 19:37Speaker 2: From the Ravens the Giants with Harbaugh, but in the
- 19:40Speaker 2: division Robert Sallan now the head coach of the Titans.
- 19:45Speaker 1: John we gotta be fun. But I'm I don't know.
- 19:49Speaker 3: It's uh see him twice a year.
- 19:51Speaker 4: Look at its core, the NFL is supposed to be fun, right, yes,
- 19:57Speaker 4: And the fact that Salah and Cohen got into it
- 20:00Speaker 4: a little bit last year, Uh, it's.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Entertainment at the end of the day.
- 20:05Speaker 4: And I know everybody in the league, and it's it's
- 20:09Speaker 4: it's your profession.
- 20:10Speaker 3: It's your livelihood. It's otherworldly important.
- 20:13Speaker 4: But rivalries and a little drama do add to it,
- 20:18Speaker 4: and they make it fun. So this will be fun
- 20:20Speaker 4: to watch. Will make more of it than they do.
- 20:24Speaker 4: But that's what we do.
- 20:25Speaker 3: Duff. Yeah, no, I think that's what you do now.
- 20:27Speaker 6: No, No, but I you know it adds.
- 20:31Speaker 5: I'll promise you that it adds a lot to the
- 20:33Speaker 5: weekly preparation and the focus as far as that's concerned.
- 20:36Speaker 5: Not that you need anything to add to it, but
- 20:38Speaker 5: it certainly does. And what the heck I mean, we're
- 20:40Speaker 5: in this to win it. You know, that's a highly
- 20:42Speaker 5: competitive situation. And what the flip? You know, I didn't
- 20:47Speaker 5: like to shake hands with anybody before you play. You
- 20:50Speaker 5: worked your dad going hard. We're not going to give
- 20:51Speaker 5: anything away, So I like it a lot.
- 20:54Speaker 2: I love it too, and I think let's speak a
- 20:57Speaker 2: little bit to all the changes, because I won't just
- 20:59Speaker 2: pile on Sala because I think any reason to dislike
- 21:01Speaker 2: the Titans will take around here. But not only had
- 21:04Speaker 2: coaching changes. I think I don't know the exact number,
- 21:08Speaker 2: but the offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator changes.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Around the league.
- 21:11Speaker 2: I cannot imagine that there are many teams that are
- 21:14Speaker 2: returning all three head coach and then both coordinators. There
- 21:16Speaker 2: can't be many at this point because so many have changed.
- 21:21Speaker 2: We talked about that patience. A lot of people are
- 21:23Speaker 2: trying to find the magic formula.
- 21:25Speaker 4: Yeah, and I kind of go both ways on it,
- 21:28Speaker 4: the old school guy and me.
- 21:31Speaker 3: I think teams overdo this.
- 21:34Speaker 4: I think there is a lot to be said for
- 21:39Speaker 4: you got your coaching staff, give them a chance to
- 21:42Speaker 4: have some continuity. I think Black Monday sometimes goes way
- 21:47Speaker 4: overboard and coaches lose their jobs that shouldn't. At the
- 21:52Speaker 4: same time, when you have quick turnarounds like you had,
- 21:57Speaker 4: I do think it's turning into more.
- 21:59Speaker 3: Of the NBA and the.
- 22:01Speaker 4: Hat on other sports where they change manager and coaches
- 22:03Speaker 4: and just want quick change the results. So maybe it
- 22:07Speaker 4: works stuff. I mean, you're probably as conflicted as I am.
- 22:11Speaker 6: I am conflicted, you know, I very much am.
- 22:13Speaker 5: You know, I think that sometimes I think it's just well, hey,
- 22:17Speaker 5: let's just do it to do it and whimsically a
- 22:19Speaker 5: lot of way and you know, or let's make a
- 22:22Speaker 5: splash right now for whatever reason we want it yesterday,
- 22:25Speaker 5: we want success yesterday. Well, you know, I don't know
- 22:29Speaker 5: that that's clearly not the answer in my opinion, and
- 22:31Speaker 5: I do think that it does take some time, but
- 22:34Speaker 5: clearly when things aren't getting done, you've got to make
- 22:36Speaker 5: the change.
- 22:36Speaker 6: So I mean, it's a.
- 22:37Speaker 5: I think you try to apply as best a logical
- 22:41Speaker 5: and realistic.
- 22:44Speaker 6: Source, if you will, or a way to try to
- 22:46Speaker 6: make those decisions. And I hope it doesn't have become
- 22:49Speaker 6: just something we're going to do.
- 22:50Speaker 2: To do it, you know, thanks to the control room,
- 22:52Speaker 2: twenty one offensive coordinator changes the season across the league
- 22:56Speaker 2: two thirds of leagues, and you look different on offenses here.
- 22:58Speaker 3: See, and that to me orders on ridiculous. It is
- 23:01Speaker 3: ridic uh.
- 23:02Speaker 1: I mean, some of that is.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Some of that is offensive ordinators being hired and says coaches,
- 23:05Speaker 2: some of that is that.
- 23:06Speaker 1: But two thirds of the league looking different is crazy.
- 23:08Speaker 4: Yeah, I I to me, we're sometimes coordinator storied to
- 23:16Speaker 4: death these days.
- 23:17Speaker 3: I grew up a huge, huge uh NFL fan.
- 23:22Speaker 4: Until fifteen twenty years ago, nobody who, nobody knew who
- 23:25Speaker 4: the coordinators were, right, and all of a sudden, they're
- 23:27Speaker 4: all mad geniuses and all this. And I get that
- 23:30Speaker 4: there's something to that, but I I do think overall
- 23:36Speaker 4: the league changes a little bit too quickly on that,
- 23:38Speaker 4: looking for the next best thing. Uh but Liam had
- 23:43Speaker 4: the success this year, so that's what you're going to follow,
- 23:46Speaker 4: and so did Rabel, so did Ben Johnson.
- 23:49Speaker 3: Uh so it's not changing.
- 23:51Speaker 6: No, I would, I would.
- 23:52Speaker 5: I was so pleased, like I said, we were a
- 23:55Speaker 5: coach was able to keep his staff. But I knew
- 23:57Speaker 5: that there would be a major attack on this staff
- 24:00Speaker 5: because of you know, the success, reductive success.
- 24:03Speaker 6: That they had this year.
- 24:05Speaker 5: And uh, you know, that's that's good for everybody.
- 24:07Speaker 6: It's good for your staff, it's good for your coaches.
- 24:10Speaker 5: But thank god they were able to stay together because
- 24:12Speaker 5: again I said, I think there's a lot going on
- 24:14Speaker 5: that's very very good.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Now enjoy it now because it ain't gonna be the same.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Absolutely, Jaguars enjoyed this year for sure.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Say well, let we're gonna do an ozone mail bag
- 24:21Speaker 2: as John Oder will give us his wisdom is answer
- 24:23Speaker 2: some of your fan questions after the break friendly.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Welcome back and welcome back to Jags. I am as
- 24:47Speaker 1: we took him with a.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Zone because we always like to see what you know
- 24:51Speaker 2: and share your wisdom with the rest of us. Obviously,
- 24:53Speaker 2: the viewers always write into you and have some questions.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Let's start out with Michael from Orange Park. Is John
- 24:58Speaker 2: one thing I haven't seen is the possib the ability
- 25:00Speaker 2: of tagging oidter etn. What do you think obviously franchise
- 25:04Speaker 2: tag on a running back and a linebacker.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Yeah, may not happen.
- 25:07Speaker 4: Look it it's uh, I would love if both these
- 25:10Speaker 4: guys came back.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Uh.
- 25:12Speaker 4: I think it's it's unlikely in my gut that either
- 25:17Speaker 4: is back because of the salary and the position, and
- 25:21Speaker 4: the tag for Lloyd would be I I should have
- 25:24Speaker 4: looked up the number four, but it's astronomical for a
- 25:26Speaker 4: a a linebacker, particularly who's not a sad guy, so
- 25:30Speaker 4: it just wouldn't fit into what you we normally see
- 25:33Speaker 4: around the league.
- 25:35Speaker 3: Uh.
- 25:35Speaker 4: To me, the tag for somebody like Travis makes sense
- 25:39Speaker 4: because running back is often especially where he is going
- 25:44Speaker 4: into his sixth year, that is a taggable year because
- 25:48Speaker 4: you can you know, hey say it this way, but
- 25:51Speaker 4: you can run running backs out, let them go once
- 25:55Speaker 4: you feel like they're past their prime.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Uh.
- 25:57Speaker 4: But I don't think that will be an option. I mean,
- 25:59Speaker 4: I don't think that will be what either team does.
- 26:02Speaker 4: The tag window, by the way, opens today, ends March third.
- 26:06Speaker 4: I don't think you'll see it. I'd love to see
- 26:09Speaker 4: both of them back, but I'm kind of resigned that
- 26:13Speaker 4: they will.
- 26:13Speaker 3: I probably won't be.
- 26:14Speaker 6: Yeah, I was kind of hoping, you know, for both,
- 26:17Speaker 6: And we'll see how develops.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Chart.
- 26:19Speaker 5: As you mentioned, Etn makes a lot of sense in
- 26:21Speaker 5: that regard on the tag, not only as a rusher,
- 26:24Speaker 5: but as a receiver, as a protector, all the things
- 26:27Speaker 5: that he does that I thought brought a lot of
- 26:29Speaker 5: value to the offense this year. So it'll be interesting
- 26:32Speaker 5: to see how this moves forward.
- 26:34Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll see, And I'm just speculating, but you haven't
- 26:37Speaker 4: heard much about it yet, and usually if there's going
- 26:41Speaker 4: to be some momentum for re signing, the whispers sort
- 26:46Speaker 4: of starting not inside I'm saying from like national, So
- 26:49Speaker 4: we'll see I hope we see both of them in
- 26:51Speaker 4: Jaguars uniforms.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Absolutely, let's talk a little bit more about this new regime,
- 26:55Speaker 2: what they're going to be doing in the off season.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Mason from Palm Bay, did you guys make the trip
- 26:59Speaker 2: to Mobile for the Senior Bowl this year? Was it
- 27:01Speaker 2: do to not having a first round pick or did
- 27:03Speaker 2: the new decision makers not see value in attending that event?
- 27:06Speaker 4: Well, media wise, we didn't go, meaning Kai Bryant and
- 27:11Speaker 4: I am. There's representation from the Jaguars at all these
- 27:15Speaker 4: off season things, but the decision makers, you know, I
- 27:20Speaker 4: wasn't at the Senior Bowl.
- 27:22Speaker 3: I don't think any of the top guys were there.
- 27:25Speaker 4: And the top guys meaning Liam and James, my understanding
- 27:28Speaker 4: is won't go to the combine and I'll let them
- 27:32Speaker 4: speak to exactly why. But it's more that they just
- 27:36Speaker 4: don't really believe that on you know, seeing these guys
- 27:40Speaker 4: run forties is not necessarily how they want to have
- 27:46Speaker 4: their impressions.
- 27:48Speaker 3: Madeary Olympics, so.
- 27:51Speaker 4: They don't want to have their impressions solely by non
- 27:55Speaker 4: football things. It's more of a philosophical point of view.
- 27:58Speaker 4: And the Rams do this way, Duff. They don't send
- 28:03Speaker 4: McVeigh or less need to that event. The Rams of
- 28:07Speaker 4: the North Star here, So I think that will be
- 28:11Speaker 4: their approach and they just choose to keep their evaluations
- 28:15Speaker 4: claim from that input.
- 28:17Speaker 6: Yeah, and I think a lot of teams are moving
- 28:19Speaker 6: in that direction right now.
- 28:20Speaker 5: Each and every year, less and less staffs are shown
- 28:23Speaker 5: up at the combine. You can get all the data,
- 28:26Speaker 5: you can see all the video, you know, a lot
- 28:28Speaker 5: of it.
- 28:29Speaker 6: With free agencies.
- 28:30Speaker 5: Looming right now, stand at home and making sure you've
- 28:33Speaker 5: got your ideas on your team and potential free agents
- 28:36Speaker 5: coming up makes a lot of sense.
- 28:38Speaker 3: So for you, you see the value in this.
- 28:39Speaker 6: Each absolutely, I do see a lot of it.
- 28:41Speaker 5: You know, again, what's most important when you evaluate players
- 28:44Speaker 5: is what they're doing on film playing football. The combine,
- 28:47Speaker 5: the measurables, the underwear work, all's part of the equation.
- 28:51Speaker 5: But I think that you can get all that data,
- 28:53Speaker 5: like I said, so it's all on video. You can
- 28:55Speaker 5: see every interview there. So I think stand at home,
- 28:59Speaker 5: continuing to work internally with what your upcoming decisions are
- 29:03Speaker 5: makes a lot of sense.
- 29:04Speaker 3: That's going to hurt the bar revenues and downtown No, No.
- 29:07Speaker 2: JG is still going jab Shatrick will be there, so
- 29:10Speaker 2: they will be just fine.
- 29:11Speaker 3: So it'll be fine.
- 29:13Speaker 1: Let's look ahead also, well looking back a little bit.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Fred from Naples says the only surefire Hall of Famer
- 29:19Speaker 2: next year might be former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Is this a year that Fred Taylor has a chance?
- 29:25Speaker 1: Is it going to be next year? Here's hoping. I'm right.
- 29:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:29Speaker 1: A lot of stuff that goes into this, and.
- 29:30Speaker 4: I know, John, you're this could be a long, long,
- 29:32Speaker 4: long discussion we probably have time for on this show.
- 29:35Speaker 3: But the Hall of Fame needs to get fixed.
- 29:39Speaker 4: It is they put in voting restrictions and rules for
- 29:45Speaker 4: twenty five that has shrunk the class and I can
- 29:48Speaker 4: go into the details of it, but there's percentages involved
- 29:51Speaker 4: and a long story short. What used to be sort
- 29:54Speaker 4: of a guaranteed seven or eight member class has shrunk
- 29:57Speaker 4: to four or five in the last couple of years.
- 29:59Speaker 3: That's not the way you want to go.
- 30:00Speaker 4: This is not baseball, where there's nine players, there's twenty
- 30:03Speaker 4: two to twenty five positions in the NFL with thirty
- 30:06Speaker 4: two teams, four.
- 30:07Speaker 3: Or five players a year, in my opinion, is not enough.
- 30:10Speaker 3: I hope the Hall.
- 30:11Speaker 4: I hope that the fallout from Bill Belichick not getting
- 30:14Speaker 4: in is that the Hall looks at its process and says,
- 30:17Speaker 4: we've got to do this better. It's not the voters.
- 30:20Speaker 4: I know people are angry at the voters. The voters
- 30:23Speaker 4: are trying to do the best job they can. Their
- 30:25Speaker 4: hands were tied a little bit too much the last
- 30:27Speaker 4: couple of years. To me, have an avenue where you
- 30:32Speaker 4: can get at least one coach and contributor in five players,
- 30:36Speaker 4: a couple of senior guys. I don't see anything wrong
- 30:39Speaker 4: with honoring the people who have put this game where
- 30:43Speaker 4: it is. Fred's chances, I think will be tough if
- 30:48Speaker 4: the system stays as it is now.
- 30:51Speaker 3: I think if it opens up a little bit.
- 30:54Speaker 4: To me, knowing his career like I do, he's absolutely
- 30:59Speaker 4: a Hall of Fame. I think it will take the
- 31:02Speaker 4: voting system expanded for people to give him a second look.
- 31:06Speaker 3: But maybe a little bias. I think Fred and Jimmy
- 31:09Speaker 3: are absolute Hall of Famers.
- 31:11Speaker 5: What you just said I was very well stated, and
- 31:14Speaker 5: I can tell you up front, Fred Taylor belongs in
- 31:17Speaker 5: the Hall of Fame.
- 31:18Speaker 6: I coordinated against him, defended against him.
- 31:20Speaker 5: In fact, the closest we ever came, any of my
- 31:23Speaker 5: players ever came to him is when I came here
- 31:25Speaker 5: to coach and I was just close to him in practice.
- 31:28Speaker 5: You know, I said, my god, we never got that
- 31:30Speaker 5: close to you. What a great player and what a
- 31:32Speaker 5: great uh you know, spokesman for this franchise and absolutely
- 31:36Speaker 5: deserves Hall of Fame induction.
- 31:38Speaker 2: I don't know if it'll ever change, but if there's
- 31:40Speaker 2: a way to include some of the people that are
- 31:41Speaker 2: already in the Hall, because the respect that Fred Taylor
- 31:44Speaker 2: Garner's from Hall of Famers, who will come out and
- 31:47Speaker 2: tell you he was one of the hardest running backs
- 31:49Speaker 2: for them to stop, or the person they always had
- 31:51Speaker 2: the game plan for.
- 31:51Speaker 3: Because players, Yeah, yeah.
- 31:54Speaker 5: What you're just saying players players know all right in
- 31:58Speaker 5: their voice and their input I think is really necessary,
- 32:01Speaker 5: just as you're saying.
- 32:02Speaker 4: And honestly, Jimmy Smith, because he has not been a finalist,
- 32:08Speaker 4: has really gotten overlooked in the conversations that we had
- 32:12Speaker 4: because Fred has been closer.
- 32:15Speaker 3: Jimmy was the same way.
- 32:16Speaker 4: If you look at Jimmy's numbers ten years, nine thousand
- 32:20Speaker 4: yard seasons in ten years. One year he didn't make it.
- 32:22Speaker 4: He had like eight hundred and he was out twelve
- 32:25Speaker 4: out four games.
- 32:26Speaker 3: He's a Hall of Famer.
- 32:28Speaker 4: I don't know that the momentum can get him back
- 32:31Speaker 4: in that conversation, but yeah.
- 32:34Speaker 6: So, I mean again, a nightmare for defensive coach.
- 32:37Speaker 5: Is a terrific player with you all the way, incredible
- 32:40Speaker 5: statu money player all the time. I mean, just a
- 32:43Speaker 5: guy that I would have told you a no brainer
- 32:47Speaker 5: when we were trying to defend him.
- 32:48Speaker 4: Yeah, sometimes what happens is once guys retire for some reason,
- 32:54Speaker 4: they get forgotten about a little bit because people walk
- 32:56Speaker 4: in on a stage.
- 32:56Speaker 3: I mean, he didn't have a lot of touchdowns.
- 32:58Speaker 4: But when you were covering him for four or five
- 33:01Speaker 4: years in the nineties, it was Jerry Rice, Randy Moss
- 33:05Speaker 4: and Jimmy Smith in terms and when you talk to corners,
- 33:09Speaker 4: how do we defend this guy? He was so big, combination, strength, speed,
- 33:14Speaker 4: You couldn't.
- 33:14Speaker 6: Talk to corners, talk to coaches, not even close.
- 33:18Speaker 1: We will see what things look like next year.
- 33:20Speaker 2: I do believe the Bill Belichick situation may make them
- 33:23Speaker 2: look at things a little bit differently. But say it's
- 33:26Speaker 2: here on Jackson will tell you what's coming up the
- 33:27Speaker 2: restless offseason schedule, Jaggs, fans, is time to lock in
- 33:41Speaker 2: your seats were twenty twenty six by placing your deposits now.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Next season will be played at EverBank Stadium, but the
- 33:46Speaker 2: seating capacity is going to be limited due to those
- 33:48Speaker 2: renovations that are going on right now. So don't miss
- 33:51Speaker 2: out on your chance to see the season's biggest matchups.
- 33:54Speaker 2: Place your deposit now on your tickets. You can head
- 33:56Speaker 2: over to Jaguars dot com slash tickets to do that.
- 34:01Speaker 2: So it's the off season now officially, officially the Super
- 34:05Speaker 2: Bowl has gone by John, what's the calendar kind of
- 34:07Speaker 2: looking like? We talked about franchise tag free agency up next,
- 34:10Speaker 2: and then draft at some point.
- 34:12Speaker 4: The franchise tag transition windows the next two weeks. The
- 34:16Speaker 4: combine will go on as planned even without me, Duff.
- 34:19Speaker 4: You know it's it's a UH and a free agency UH.
- 34:24Speaker 4: The window for for UH negotiating March ninth, eleventh, and
- 34:29Speaker 4: then and then the real action starts four pm March eleventh,
- 34:32Speaker 4: when trades can get finalized. You'll see a lot of
- 34:34Speaker 4: trade uh around the league in the next two or
- 34:36Speaker 4: three weeks. Those will all penned until four pm on
- 34:41Speaker 4: on the league year, and then uh you know, fans
- 34:44Speaker 4: will get to complain about whether their teams didn't do.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Though we love to do that play.
- 34:47Speaker 2: Uh well, it was it not Monday morning quarterback.
- 34:50Speaker 1: It'll be Monday morning uh GM. But duff h.
- 34:53Speaker 2: What is this free agency class kind of looking like?
- 34:55Speaker 2: We talked about obviously our two main free agents, but
- 34:58Speaker 2: what's the rest of the class kind of look like?
- 35:00Speaker 5: You Well, I think there's a lot of interesting uh
- 35:02Speaker 5: possibilities for teams, you know, in terms of trying to
- 35:05Speaker 5: improve your offense and defense with these guys that are
- 35:08Speaker 5: coming out.
- 35:08Speaker 6: So it's a it's a time right.
- 35:10Speaker 5: Now where the coaching staffs are doing long studies of
- 35:13Speaker 5: guys that are available, writing them up, giving them their
- 35:15Speaker 5: their opinion, their strengths and weaknesses, and how they can
- 35:18Speaker 5: fit in to the current rosters. So it's a it's
- 35:21Speaker 5: a very uh I'd loved it in terms of a
- 35:23Speaker 5: coach at this time trying to find out more about
- 35:25Speaker 5: players digging around trying to determine what kind of attitude,
- 35:29Speaker 5: what kind of personality, what kind of effort filled player
- 35:32Speaker 5: are they or are they not to bring to your roster.
- 35:34Speaker 5: And and I have a lot of confidence in this
- 35:37Speaker 5: staff right now, the the pro side and the coaching
- 35:40Speaker 5: staff at selection process based on what they've done so far.
- 35:43Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's gonna be interesting to see what they do.
- 35:45Speaker 4: I I don't think they're gonna be as high profile
- 35:48Speaker 4: active as they were last year, cause they don't really.
- 35:50Speaker 3: Need to be. But I think they will bring in.
- 35:54Speaker 4: A few guys at spots uh in the I in
- 35:59Speaker 4: the Robert Hainsey mode meaning Okay, maybe you haven't necessarily
- 36:04Speaker 4: heard of him as a free agent when they're saying
- 36:07Speaker 4: on the top fifty list, but came in and solidified
- 36:10Speaker 4: an area.
- 36:13Speaker 3: And I think the big thing to watch as we
- 36:14Speaker 3: move on. I don't think active in free agency is
- 36:18Speaker 3: as important this year.
- 36:20Speaker 4: Kayleab Brand saw Travis Hunter, Wyatt milem base Sheltude.
- 36:26Speaker 3: Everybody's talking about how they didn't.
- 36:27Speaker 4: Get a lot out of his draft class this year,
- 36:29Speaker 4: And I know, whatever second year jump for that group,
- 36:34Speaker 4: I think is the area where people are gonna overlook
- 36:37Speaker 4: all off season, and I think you're gonna see this
- 36:39Speaker 4: team getting better from a lot of these guys.
- 36:41Speaker 6: Well, I think it's a major bonus.
- 36:42Speaker 5: You know, those guys are somewhere unknown in somewhere areas,
- 36:47Speaker 5: but internally, I think there's a lot that is known,
- 36:50Speaker 5: and so I think you are going to see.
- 36:52Speaker 6: A big jump, a big production from those guys.
- 36:54Speaker 2: Absolutely getting him healthy and getting a second year in
- 36:57Speaker 2: the system, second year in the NFL.
- 36:58Speaker 1: So we'll be back next week talk a little more football,
- 37:01Speaker 1: but enjoy week.
- 37:01Speaker 2: Thanks for seeing us on Jags Am
