- 0:57Speaker 1: crime Podcast. I'm Alisa and I'm Michael, and this is
- 1:00Speaker 1: our second installment on the missing person case of Cody
- 1:04Speaker 1: Haney out of Liberty County, Florida. And Cody was a
- 1:08Speaker 1: last seen on June twenty first, twenty twenty four, and
- 1:12Speaker 1: he was reported and missing on June twenty fifth, twenty
- 1:15Speaker 1: twenty four by his mom, Michelle.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:18Speaker 3: In this interview with Michelle, one thing that you're going
- 1:20Speaker 3: to notice is this is a bizarre and just strange
- 1:23Speaker 3: story and there's going to be some names that Michelle
- 1:27Speaker 3: brings up that we're going to redact out for now.
- 1:30Speaker 3: And it's not because we don't believe her. It's not
- 1:32Speaker 3: because of anything other than the fact we have a
- 1:34Speaker 3: lot of investigation ahead of us before we feel comfortable
- 1:37Speaker 3: with some of these names, and we're hoping the story
- 1:40Speaker 3: still makes sense. We believe it does, and we're looking
- 1:42Speaker 3: forward to sharing it.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Yes, and with any case that we're covering, we absolutely
- 1:47Speaker 1: want to make sure that we are not getting in
- 1:49Speaker 1: the way of any investigation, and because this is so
- 1:51Speaker 1: new to us, we want to be very careful with
- 1:54Speaker 1: putting names out there. Tonight we are speaking with Michelle
- 2:12Speaker 1: mccroy and Michelle is Cody Haney's mom, and we're so
- 2:16Speaker 1: grateful that you have chosen to come and share Cody's
- 2:20Speaker 1: story with us, and welcome to the show. Hello, and Hi,
- 2:24Speaker 1: Welcome to the show. Michael.
- 2:25Speaker 3: I am also at the show.
- 2:26Speaker 1: It's always nice to have you here. So Michelle, can
- 2:29Speaker 1: you start by telling us who Cody is, not the
- 2:32Speaker 1: missing person but the son.
- 2:34Speaker 2: You know, Oh, Cody is so viberous, so full of life.
- 2:41Speaker 2: It's definitely never a dull moment when Cody was around.
- 2:45Speaker 2: You know, he could turn a bad day into a
- 2:47Speaker 2: good day. I always like to make people laugh, you know,
- 2:50Speaker 2: and he just he'd loves fishing, you know, we'd be
- 2:53Speaker 2: sitting here at the house and you know his favorite
- 2:56Speaker 2: TV shows were Our teen Wolves and Vampire. You know,
- 3:01Speaker 2: he has siblings, and uh, he would always take Eli fishing.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Elijah is deaf and mute, and he just always took
- 3:11Speaker 2: up so much time with Eli. You know, they were
- 3:13Speaker 2: like two peas in a pod. Uh. You know, when
- 3:16Speaker 2: Cody would he'd be here at the house and you
- 3:19Speaker 2: know we would just he just he loved to be
- 3:21Speaker 2: outside all the time. You know. He liked riding on
- 3:23Speaker 2: the full Willard golf cards, anything he could find, and
- 3:28Speaker 2: again loved fishing. Fishing was his life and he just
- 3:34Speaker 2: you know, he just always had a way of just
- 3:36Speaker 2: brightening up anybody's day. Everybody loved him. He was a
- 3:40Speaker 2: good person.
- 3:41Speaker 1: And what is one thing about Cody that you wish
- 3:45Speaker 1: everyone understood, like right from the.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Get go, Cody the good, loving person and he would
- 3:50Speaker 2: never just believe like this, you know, and he just
- 3:53Speaker 2: he would do anything to help anybody. You know, he
- 3:56Speaker 2: had didn't have a lot of friends. You know, he
- 3:58Speaker 2: was a little bit you know, more of a inside
- 4:00Speaker 2: kind of person. But he would just do anything to
- 4:03Speaker 2: help anybody you could ask him, you know, for anything,
- 4:07Speaker 2: and he would give it to you, and if he
- 4:08Speaker 2: didn't have it, he would find a way to get it.
- 4:11Speaker 1: I'm not from the North Florida area, but I'm married
- 4:14Speaker 1: into a North Florida family. That is correct, and I'm
- 4:18Speaker 1: hearing a lot of similarities. And you're talking about Cody
- 4:20Speaker 1: and some of the other families have shared of people
- 4:24Speaker 1: that we have covered their cases. There seems to be
- 4:27Speaker 1: this sort of pervasive you will help anybody with anything
- 4:31Speaker 1: at any time, and like this real sense of community
- 4:34Speaker 1: in the area that being from a metropolitan area and
- 4:37Speaker 1: from the Midwest is not something I'm accustomed to. And
- 4:41Speaker 1: so I just hear a lot of similarities between Cody
- 4:44Speaker 1: and some of the other folks that we've covered.
- 4:46Speaker 2: And fishing.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Fishing is a big fishing appears to be a big
- 4:50Speaker 1: deal in that area, because I got a pretty expert
- 4:54Speaker 1: fisherman sitting right here as well. I'm not too bad myself,
- 4:58Speaker 1: but I had to learn. So in the weeks leading
- 5:03Speaker 1: up to Cody's disappearance, did you notice any changes or
- 5:08Speaker 1: anything that was kind of out of the ordinary.
- 5:12Speaker 2: I didn't notice that because he was on a curfew,
- 5:16Speaker 2: so it seemed like in a couple of weeks leading
- 5:20Speaker 2: up to this, like he was, he would be pushing
- 5:22Speaker 2: that curfew, like if he had to be in at eight,
- 5:25Speaker 2: he'd push it to like seven thirty seven forty, which
- 5:28Speaker 2: was unlike him because usually when he get off work,
- 5:30Speaker 2: he comes straight to the house, change his clothes, get
- 5:32Speaker 2: his fish and pole, and go down to the river
- 5:34Speaker 2: because we don't live but maybe a mile or two
- 5:37Speaker 2: from the river. And he just kind of started, like
- 5:43Speaker 2: how do you say, became more not wanting me so involved.
- 5:50Speaker 2: I got a few phone calls from a few people
- 5:52Speaker 2: that were telling me that, you know, a couple of
- 5:55Speaker 2: guys that was at his job, that maybe he didn't
- 5:58Speaker 2: need to be around them. So I would try to
- 6:00Speaker 2: talk to Tody about it. And to beginning, you know,
- 6:02Speaker 2: when he first started the job, he would always been like,
- 6:05Speaker 2: oh my, you know, I'm not doing anything. I promise,
- 6:08Speaker 2: you know, always home, and he was. But then he
- 6:12Speaker 2: just started kind of staying out later and not wanting
- 6:16Speaker 2: to talk to me quite as much about guy at work.
- 6:22Speaker 2: But other than that, he just seemed like his normal felt.
- 6:26Speaker 2: I mean, like he was still just as happy. You know,
- 6:29Speaker 2: he didn't seem depressed or anything. So you know when
- 6:34Speaker 2: all of this happened, it really helped me off gward
- 6:37Speaker 2: because you know, nobody, nobody would ever thought did.
- 6:41Speaker 3: I have a couple of clarifiers, just make sure I
- 6:42Speaker 3: understand like locations. So when you say river, are we
- 6:45Speaker 3: talking about Theoklotney River at Pleachicola River? Saint Mark's which one?
- 6:48Speaker 3: Are we talking about Aplechicola? Okay? So it's trying to
- 6:51Speaker 3: get an idea of location because there's a lot of
- 6:53Speaker 3: there's a lot of rivers in this area. So I
- 6:55Speaker 3: want to make sure that people are listening understand where
- 6:57Speaker 3: we're talking about. And that was a very commonplace to
- 7:00Speaker 3: go fishing and hang out.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Yeah, Cody was young when he disappeared. Can he was
- 7:05Speaker 1: twenty two when he went missing?
- 7:06Speaker 3: Is I right?
- 7:07Speaker 2: Yes, ma'am?
- 7:08Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, So he's young, and so when you're talking
- 7:10Speaker 1: about him sort of wanting to separate a little bit
- 7:14Speaker 1: from you. That's typical, right for someone who's in their twenties.
- 7:18Speaker 1: We don't have someone who's older who's disappeared. He's a
- 7:20Speaker 1: young man.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Yeah when he went missing, and he had, yeah, got
- 7:25Speaker 2: him a girlfriend, and so you know it was kind
- 7:27Speaker 2: of Cody's my first son so it just seemed normal,
- 7:32Speaker 2: you know that he didn't want to talk to me,
- 7:35Speaker 2: you know about some things. Yeah, because he was only
- 7:39Speaker 2: twenty two when he went missing, so still got a
- 7:42Speaker 2: whole life ahead of him.
- 7:44Speaker 3: And talk about curfew, what was his curfew?
- 7:46Speaker 2: About his curfew was because he had gotten into a
- 7:49Speaker 2: little bit of trouble and he was on probation. So
- 7:52Speaker 2: with him being on probation, they had set him up
- 7:55Speaker 2: on a curfew. Now, he was allowed to go anywhere
- 7:59Speaker 2: because his job, he'd done a land surveillion. So from
- 8:04Speaker 2: like seven o'clock in the morning to like eight o'clock
- 8:07Speaker 2: in the afternoon, you know, he was allowed to go anywhere.
- 8:10Speaker 2: But about eight o'clock was about the curfew time for
- 8:14Speaker 2: him to be home. They did have him on an
- 8:16Speaker 2: ankle monitor, So, which is what has made all of
- 8:19Speaker 2: this a little more odd of wine. The ankle monitor
- 8:23Speaker 2: couldn't crack him.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Yeah, because I mean my first question is, you know,
- 8:26Speaker 3: number one, what is he in trouble for? And number two,
- 8:29Speaker 3: if we have an ankle monitor on, why are we missing?
- 8:32Speaker 2: Right? Well, he had got into a little bit of
- 8:37Speaker 2: trouble a few years back with the same guy that
- 8:43Speaker 2: he was with the weekend that he went missing, Apparently
- 8:46Speaker 2: they had decided to I don't know what kind of
- 8:50Speaker 2: drug they did, but it by lady his probation. So
- 8:55Speaker 2: he got in trouble. So when he got out of jail,
- 8:58Speaker 2: he it was a lot stricter. That's when the curfew started,
- 9:03Speaker 2: and you know, the weekly visits, and so I know
- 9:06Speaker 2: he wasn't doing anything that he wasn't supposed to be
- 9:09Speaker 2: doing because he had weekly chickens, all right.
- 9:12Speaker 1: And did he express any concerns or fears or you're
- 9:17Speaker 1: you're talking a little bit about conflicts. Is there anything
- 9:19Speaker 1: specific that he said about any of these conflicts in
- 9:23Speaker 1: the days and weeks leading up to when he disappeared.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Well, when I had when I had found out that
- 9:29Speaker 2: the guy that has started working for the same company
- 9:31Speaker 2: that he was working for was the same guy that
- 9:34Speaker 2: he got in trouble with a few years back, I
- 9:37Speaker 2: had told Tody, you know, hey, look, if I catch
- 9:39Speaker 2: you around him, you know, since y'all work together, there's
- 9:43Speaker 2: not a whole lot I can do about that. But
- 9:45Speaker 2: if I see y'all around one another, I have no
- 9:46Speaker 2: problem with the one and confronting this guy and telling
- 9:49Speaker 2: him stay away and Cody had it. You know, he
- 9:52Speaker 2: was like, Mom, please don't do that. He's like, if
- 9:54Speaker 2: you do that, he's like, it might cause trouble. He's like,
- 9:58Speaker 2: you know, I'll just stay away from him as much
- 9:59Speaker 2: as I can. And I was like, okay, you know
- 10:02Speaker 2: that that was fine with me, you know, because me
- 10:06Speaker 2: and Cody had such a good relationship. You know, if
- 10:08Speaker 2: he told me he was going to do something, that's
- 10:10Speaker 2: what he did. So when he said that he would
- 10:13Speaker 2: just stay away from the guy, you know, other than
- 10:16Speaker 2: of course they worked for the same company. Then I
- 10:19Speaker 2: told him that was okay, but he did not want
- 10:22Speaker 2: me to go confront this guy.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Now I would, And can you walk us through the
- 10:30Speaker 1: last time you saw or spoke to him.
- 10:33Speaker 2: It was a Friday night. I had to work the
- 10:36Speaker 2: next morning and Cody had to work the next morning.
- 10:40Speaker 2: So I went to get ready to go to bed,
- 10:43Speaker 2: and I told him, My said, son, don't stay up
- 10:45Speaker 2: too late because you have to work in the morning.
- 10:48Speaker 2: And he said, I know, Mom. He said, I'm fit
- 10:49Speaker 2: to take a shower and I'm going to bed. So
- 10:52Speaker 2: I told him I loved him. He told me he
- 10:53Speaker 2: loved me, and I went to bed and he went
- 10:56Speaker 2: and got the shower, and that was the last time
- 10:58Speaker 2: I slee him. He went to he went to work
- 11:02Speaker 2: the next morning. Does this is where things start getting
- 11:04Speaker 2: odd because the boss man called me Saturday morning and
- 11:09Speaker 2: was warner him where Cody was at Well, I told
- 11:11Speaker 2: him Cody was at work, because well that's where he
- 11:13Speaker 2: was supposed to be. And he said that the truck,
- 11:16Speaker 2: the company truck, was there, but Cody was not, and
- 11:20Speaker 2: then everything just that's when everything just got weird. You know.
- 11:26Speaker 2: That's because the same guy that I told him to
- 11:30Speaker 2: stay away from, what's the same guy that he was
- 11:33Speaker 2: with the weekend he would miss He was actually the
- 11:35Speaker 2: last person to see Cody.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Was that person in work that day.
- 11:39Speaker 2: He was also I guess he was supposed to work
- 11:42Speaker 2: that day and he didn't show up because the boss
- 11:45Speaker 2: man called me back and was asking me, you know,
- 11:49Speaker 2: he was like, hey, you know I called see He's
- 11:52Speaker 2: like I just got He's like I called said that
- 11:54Speaker 2: he hadn't seen Cody but called in for the day
- 11:57Speaker 2: and I was like okay. So at this point we
- 11:59Speaker 2: started looking for cod and then next thing I know,
- 12:03Speaker 2: you know, I get off work, I come home, I'm
- 12:06Speaker 2: waiting on Cody to get home and he doesn't come home.
- 12:09Speaker 2: So now, you know, at that point, I'm concerned of
- 12:13Speaker 2: where's he at because he dropped the truck off at work,
- 12:16Speaker 2: but I guess he left with because after that, nobody
- 12:22Speaker 2: really knows what happened. Nobody knows for sure what happened
- 12:26Speaker 2: after Cody dropped the truck off Saturday morning, but the
- 12:29Speaker 2: last people that he was with was now when they
- 12:36Speaker 2: were interviewed by the police, they had admitted to the
- 12:42Speaker 2: police that they had I guess they were smoking mojo
- 12:47Speaker 2: or the little fake weed cigarette to get out of
- 12:50Speaker 2: the grocery convenience store, and they admitted that they had
- 12:54Speaker 2: laced it with myth, which was then at that point
- 12:57Speaker 2: became mine and the cops is biggest concern because Cody
- 13:02Speaker 2: doesn't do drugs, so when you give you can't well
- 13:07Speaker 2: you shouldn't give anybody something without them knowing what you're
- 13:10Speaker 2: giving them. So Saturday goes by, hatting heard from Cody.
- 13:15Speaker 2: I get up Sunday morning, you know, so Saturday night
- 13:19Speaker 2: would go out with riding a Browntown. We're looking for
- 13:21Speaker 2: him nothing. I had to work Sunday morning. I went
- 13:25Speaker 2: to work. The boss man called me again and was
- 13:28Speaker 2: saying that the or had said that Cody had stole
- 13:36Speaker 2: the work truck. And again this is where it gets
- 13:38Speaker 2: very weird, because why would you drop off a truck
- 13:42Speaker 2: that the boss man knows you have to take a
- 13:45Speaker 2: different truck.
- 13:47Speaker 3: So wait a second, make sure I want to make
- 13:48Speaker 3: sure we're telling the story where people can understand it.
- 13:51Speaker 3: So he dropped off his assigned truck. Yeah, and then
- 13:56Speaker 3: was the other truck missing at the same time, or
- 14:00Speaker 3: that they did somebody come back for something?
- 14:03Speaker 2: Apparently he dropped off his sign truck that he had.
- 14:06Speaker 2: And then on Sunday I get a call from the
- 14:09Speaker 2: boss man fan that Cody had said that Cody had
- 14:13Speaker 2: came back to the job and took a different.
- 14:16Speaker 3: Truck and it wasn't noticed it was missing earlier.
- 14:19Speaker 1: No cameras or anything.
- 14:21Speaker 2: No we So I left work, went up there to
- 14:24Speaker 2: the shop and I'm talking to the boss man. There's
- 14:27Speaker 2: no chambers at the shop. There's no GPS on any
- 14:30Speaker 2: of the trucks, you know. And as me and the
- 14:33Speaker 2: bossman are talking, you know, he's showing me where a
- 14:36Speaker 2: piece of a door had been broke. But like I
- 14:39Speaker 2: told him, Cody has a key to the shop.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Why would he break the door exactly?
- 14:43Speaker 2: Why would he break the door when he has a key.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Why would he take the truck that he's not supposed
- 14:49Speaker 2: to have when he dropped off the truck that he
- 14:51Speaker 2: was supposed to have. Wow, And that's where things start
- 14:55Speaker 2: to get Really.
- 14:56Speaker 3: It's getting strange, Yes, for sure. The other thing of
- 14:59Speaker 3: any business owners are listening to me that have company trucks,
- 15:03Speaker 3: could they please put GPS on the freaking drugs because
- 15:06Speaker 3: this is the second case center row where we have
- 15:08Speaker 3: a missing truck and new and work truck and nothing's
- 15:12Speaker 3: nothing's low jacked or GPS or anything exactly.
- 15:17Speaker 2: So then I go and at this point, you know,
- 15:20Speaker 2: the probation officer, he's also contacting me, and you know,
- 15:24Speaker 2: I'm you know, I'm like, sir, I don't know, like
- 15:27Speaker 2: I'm trying to figure this out myself. So we went
- 15:31Speaker 2: back out. We had brand and then was the last
- 15:37Speaker 2: two guys that was with Cody when he went missing,
- 15:41Speaker 2: and I had spoke with them, but at the time
- 15:43Speaker 2: I didn't know that's who they were. I just seen
- 15:46Speaker 2: them in a company truck. So I turned around and
- 15:50Speaker 2: started asking them questions. Well, then Sunday says that he
- 15:55Speaker 2: called the police because he states that he's seen Cody
- 15:59Speaker 2: take the truck, and again it's not making any sense.
- 16:03Speaker 2: And so you know, now we're all looking for Cody.
- 16:07Speaker 2: You know, the police are looking for him, I'm looking
- 16:09Speaker 2: for him, and we do eventually find the truck. We
- 16:13Speaker 2: find the truck on Tuesday, and they brought the K
- 16:15Speaker 2: nine dogs out and Cody sent was inside the truck,
- 16:19Speaker 2: which would be normal because it's a work truck. You know,
- 16:23Speaker 2: he's in and out of all these trucks. But the
- 16:25Speaker 2: K nine could not find his scent outside of the truck.
- 16:28Speaker 2: And the truck had been abandoned with all of the
- 16:31Speaker 2: windows busted out of it, which again didn't make any
- 16:35Speaker 2: sense to me. You know, why Bob was all the
- 16:38Speaker 2: windows busted out of it? Why can the K nine
- 16:41Speaker 2: not pick up a scent outside of the truck? And
- 16:44Speaker 2: then then things just got really weird. H So then
- 16:49Speaker 2: the police started talking to well, so on Tuesday, when
- 16:54Speaker 2: I had went found a natural missing person's report because
- 16:58Speaker 2: it had then been over for eight hours that I
- 17:01Speaker 2: had not seen Cody, and so go up there if
- 17:04Speaker 2: I'm on missing person's report, and that's when I find
- 17:07Speaker 2: out that brothers, Oh, okay, yeah, and as a former
- 17:15Speaker 2: police officer out of Calhoun County. So now things is
- 17:19Speaker 2: getting really odd because we still at this point cannot
- 17:23Speaker 2: find Tody. And they say that, like I said, they
- 17:26Speaker 2: admitted to adding drugs to the synthetic whatever it was
- 17:32Speaker 2: that they were smoking, they geted to adding drugs to it.
- 17:35Speaker 2: They said. After that, Cody began to hallucinate. And they
- 17:39Speaker 2: said that he started hollering about seeing things and hearing
- 17:42Speaker 2: things that wasn't there, and then he became very paranoid.
- 17:47Speaker 2: So and I'm like, okay, well, dere end this time.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Y'all have apparently wrote from where they say they went,
- 17:57Speaker 2: y'all rode by my house at least four times. Why
- 17:59Speaker 2: didn't you drop him off? Nobody thought to drop him off?
- 18:02Speaker 2: If he's hallucinatan, then he's paranoid, nobody thought bring him home.
- 18:07Speaker 1: And theoretically they're all driving around in this work truck.
- 18:12Speaker 1: That's not Cody's truck, it's the other truck.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Well, they're in it. They're all riding around in a
- 18:18Speaker 2: private truck that is owned by either it was owned
- 18:22Speaker 2: by one of them. And so all I'm assuming from
- 18:26Speaker 2: what I'm understanding from the police reports and from what
- 18:30Speaker 2: was saying, is that all day Saturday they were riding
- 18:33Speaker 2: around and one of the brother's personal vehicle. Sunday, they
- 18:37Speaker 2: for whatever reason take Cody back to the shop and
- 18:40Speaker 2: that's when he apparently took the truck. So but on
- 18:45Speaker 2: you know, during this time, I'm trying to call Cody
- 18:47Speaker 2: because he has his cell phone, so I'm trying to
- 18:49Speaker 2: call him. It keeps going straight to voicemail. Well then
- 18:52Speaker 2: you know, some calling some of Cody's friends and like, hey,
- 18:55Speaker 2: this is what's going on. Can't find him. Have y'all
- 18:57Speaker 2: seen him? Is One of his friends said, well, yes,
- 19:00Speaker 2: you know, say he called me, but he sounded very strange,
- 19:05Speaker 2: and then the phone cut out. He said, When I
- 19:08Speaker 2: tried to call him back, it went straight to voice smelt.
- 19:11Speaker 2: And then somehow or another, the boss man ended up
- 19:16Speaker 2: with Cody's cell phone. I don't know if maybe Cody
- 19:19Speaker 2: lifted their Saturday or maybe he found it on Sunday,
- 19:24Speaker 2: but he ended up with Cody's cell phone, which he
- 19:27Speaker 2: turned over to the police, you know, because at that point,
- 19:30Speaker 2: you know, we're trying to pull in there, trying to
- 19:32Speaker 2: pull any information off of that. They can to try
- 19:35Speaker 2: to figure out what's going on, and I said, it
- 19:37Speaker 2: just gets just gets very weird. Then the brothers claim
- 19:43Speaker 2: that Cody bought another cell phone, which was very odd
- 19:46Speaker 2: because he had just got that cell phone, like maybe
- 19:48Speaker 2: three weeks prior to all this. But they claimed that
- 19:51Speaker 2: Cody had went to the dollar store and bought another
- 19:54Speaker 2: cell phone. Well, nobody was able to find this cell phone.
- 19:58Speaker 2: And then three months after all of this happens, one
- 20:01Speaker 2: of the brothers take the police out there to where
- 20:03Speaker 2: they say they seen Cody throw the cell phone, which
- 20:06Speaker 2: arose more questions from why didn't you say this in
- 20:09Speaker 2: the beginning, Why did you wait three months later to
- 20:12Speaker 2: say anything about the second cell phone? So it's like
- 20:16Speaker 2: I said, it just it gets really weird. Everything they
- 20:20Speaker 2: say does not match up to Cody's personality at all.
- 20:24Speaker 1: So it sounds like you have quite a bit of information.
- 20:27Speaker 1: I'm really curious how you got this information. Was it
- 20:31Speaker 1: told to you by someone at the sheriff's office. Did
- 20:34Speaker 1: you actually read police reports talk to us about what
- 20:37Speaker 1: that looked like.
- 20:39Speaker 2: I got my information through our sheriff in Liberty County,
- 20:44Speaker 2: Dussy Arnold. They never actually showed me any police reports.
- 20:49Speaker 2: But I was continuously, you know, going up there, and
- 20:53Speaker 2: they were telling me what the other two guys that
- 20:56Speaker 2: was with Cody was telling them. But they never actually
- 21:00Speaker 2: owed me any police reports about anything. And they did
- 21:05Speaker 2: tell me that they gave the guys a lot of
- 21:08Speaker 2: techtor tests and they did fail. They filled the part
- 21:12Speaker 2: where they asked did they do anything to Cody to
- 21:15Speaker 2: harm him? And did they know where he was at?
- 21:19Speaker 2: And that was told to me by our sheriff and
- 21:22Speaker 2: the detective that was on the case at the time.
- 21:25Speaker 3: One thing I'm not super clear on, just make sure
- 21:27Speaker 3: I understand the story well enough, is you know, at
- 21:30Speaker 3: what point in the evening, because if we know they're
- 21:32Speaker 3: out together, these three guys, at what point in the
- 21:35Speaker 3: evening and they're no longer together on Sunday.
- 21:39Speaker 2: On Sunday, claimed that he took Cody back to the shop,
- 21:45Speaker 2: Cody took the truck, and he said that they chased
- 21:49Speaker 2: Cody into the woods. They were driving their personal truck.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Him and his brother was in their personal truck. Cody
- 21:55Speaker 2: was allegedly in the company truck. They claimed they chased
- 21:58Speaker 2: him into the woods because she was still hallucinating. He
- 22:02Speaker 2: had been hallucinating for apparently two days now, and they
- 22:07Speaker 2: claimed that they chased him into the woods, but they
- 22:11Speaker 2: lost him. Now from where the dirt road County Road
- 22:15Speaker 2: or Forest Road one oh nine, when you go down
- 22:18Speaker 2: that road from where they found the truck, there's no
- 22:21Speaker 2: way you could have lost him. There's just no way.
- 22:24Speaker 2: But they claimed that when they got out into the woods,
- 22:26Speaker 2: they had a flat tire. So after that they did
- 22:30Speaker 2: not get Cody anymore.
- 22:31Speaker 3: And this is the area that's been I'm assumed search
- 22:34Speaker 3: by law enforcement. Yeah, and we didn't find anything. It's
- 22:37Speaker 3: my understanding that we found his ankle bracelet cut off.
- 22:41Speaker 3: That was that done at some other time.
- 22:43Speaker 2: That was apparently that was the first time a little
- 22:47Speaker 2: over a year ago, but that was the first time
- 22:52Speaker 2: by now, it was about two or three years ago.
- 22:56Speaker 2: But this time there we didn't find no ankle monitor,
- 22:59Speaker 2: you know, when he went missing this weekend, we did
- 23:02Speaker 2: not find any ankle monitor. And when they when I
- 23:05Speaker 2: contacted the po to ask well, where's the last place
- 23:09Speaker 2: that it pinged, he said that the last place that
- 23:11Speaker 2: it pined for them was in Liberty.
- 23:13Speaker 3: County around the area or somewhere else. They get but
- 23:16Speaker 3: they can't do better than that.
- 23:18Speaker 2: He just said it was Liberty County. He said it
- 23:21Speaker 2: pined in Liberty County and then it went dead.
- 23:24Speaker 3: So they know, they're just not providing that information.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Correct because a lot of times when I called them
- 23:32Speaker 2: to get any information out of them, it's always the
- 23:35Speaker 2: same thing. Michelle. You know, we're still looking. We don't
- 23:39Speaker 2: have any new information. It's hard to figure out what
- 23:44Speaker 2: happened when the only people that are saying anything is
- 23:50Speaker 2: and of course, you know, if they did something, they're
- 23:54Speaker 2: they're not gonna tell.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Are you aware if there are any traffic camera or
- 24:00Speaker 1: anything in and around this area where they were supposedly
- 24:03Speaker 1: riding around all weekend that may have captured any pictures.
- 24:08Speaker 2: See And that was one of the things that was weird.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Liberty County did say that they have a picture of
- 24:15Speaker 2: the personal truck that they was driving on the Bleatstown
- 24:19Speaker 2: Bristol Bridge, the bridge that connects to Liberty County and
- 24:22Speaker 2: Calhoun County, that they have a picture of the truck
- 24:26Speaker 2: on Saturday crossing the bridge coming back into Liberty County.
- 24:30Speaker 2: But then after that they say there was nothing. And
- 24:34Speaker 2: when I asked about because after when after they claimed
- 24:39Speaker 2: that Cody took the truck and went down to Forest
- 24:43Speaker 2: Road one oh nine. That's a long stretch of roads.
- 24:46Speaker 2: There's a lot of traffic on the road. Nobody claimed
- 24:50Speaker 2: they saw the truck. There was no doorbell calms that
- 24:55Speaker 2: caught the truck going down the road. The library, you know,
- 25:00Speaker 2: camera doesn't show the truck going down the road. You know,
- 25:03Speaker 2: we have a high school and a middle school and
- 25:06Speaker 2: a library all on the same stretch road and none
- 25:10Speaker 2: of the cameras seeing the truck actually go that way.
- 25:14Speaker 2: But the guys that was with Cody that said that
- 25:16Speaker 2: they followed Cody to one oh nine, well they're they're
- 25:20Speaker 2: the only ones that Well, I don't want to use
- 25:22Speaker 2: the word verify because nothing they've said has been accurate
- 25:26Speaker 2: or true, but they claim that's where they went.
- 25:30Speaker 1: I want to ask a question about the picture of
- 25:33Speaker 1: the truck on the bridge. Are you aware if it's
- 25:37Speaker 1: able to discern how many people are in the truck?
- 25:40Speaker 1: Who's in the truck?
- 25:42Speaker 2: They didn't tell me. They said that they do have
- 25:47Speaker 2: the truck on camera coming back into Liberty County on Saturday,
- 25:52Speaker 2: which would been June to twenty second. That's all that's
- 25:56Speaker 2: all they would say. So, you know, and in the
- 26:00Speaker 2: very beginning of all of this, I was, I don't know,
- 26:03Speaker 2: I'm not really thinking clearly. Like now, I wish there
- 26:07Speaker 2: was more questions that I would to ask, but at
- 26:09Speaker 2: that point I was just more concerned with finding coding
- 26:12Speaker 2: as quickly as I could.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Has anyone come out to you with information that really
- 26:18Speaker 1: stood out to you that you feel is credible that
- 26:20Speaker 1: maybe isn't looked at well.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Of course, after that, you know, rumors started to fly
- 26:27Speaker 2: very quickly. There was other guys that was mentioned, uh
- 26:32Speaker 2: in which I told the police about. And when they
- 26:36Speaker 2: went and interviewed these guys, individual guys, because there was
- 26:40Speaker 2: like three different ones, they say that that they felt
- 26:45Speaker 2: like that these guys didn't have anything to do with it,
- 26:49Speaker 2: that they were just repeating things that they had heard
- 26:53Speaker 2: from other people. And two of them's in jail, one
- 26:57Speaker 2: of them was in rehab. So I've not had a
- 26:59Speaker 2: chance to talk to any of these guys, which I
- 27:04Speaker 2: was told by law enforcement to be careful because they
- 27:10Speaker 2: had not put myself into any kind of predicament where
- 27:13Speaker 2: I could put my own self in danger. Of course,
- 27:16Speaker 2: my response back question, this is my kid, that's right.
- 27:20Speaker 2: I'm not worried about myself. I'm worried about him, right
- 27:24Speaker 2: if I'll talk to and do what I got to
- 27:26Speaker 2: do in order to find him. But there was tates
- 27:31Speaker 2: Hail has been mentioned several times, and every time I
- 27:36Speaker 2: mentioned tates Hell to the Sheriff's department because they brought
- 27:40Speaker 2: out on Forest Road one oh nine. They've had the
- 27:42Speaker 2: K nine dogs and the cadaver dogs out there, and
- 27:45Speaker 2: I have mentioned to them to check, you know, why
- 27:48Speaker 2: can't we check Tate tates Hell because that has been
- 27:52Speaker 2: brought up several times that these guys had did something
- 27:55Speaker 2: to Cody and put him in Tate's Hell. But my
- 28:00Speaker 2: response back from them is Tate Tail is very large
- 28:04Speaker 2: and without having, you know, an entry point to go
- 28:08Speaker 2: on that they didn't have the money or the resources
- 28:12Speaker 2: to search out there, which is what when he called
- 28:16Speaker 2: me in. One of the new detective called me in
- 28:18Speaker 2: told me about the remains being found in Walcola County.
- 28:22Speaker 2: That's not far from Pate Tail, but one o nine
- 28:25Speaker 2: is not far from Tate Tail.
- 28:27Speaker 1: We are very familiar with Tateshell. This is the place
- 28:31Speaker 1: that we do a lot of fishing and hiking and
- 28:35Speaker 1: it is kind of split up across sort of different areas,
- 28:38Speaker 1: and there are several roads that go through and and
- 28:41Speaker 1: sneak around in there. Is that an area that you
- 28:43Speaker 1: know that you knew Cody to go to at all
- 28:46Speaker 1: for fishing?
- 28:47Speaker 2: Okay, No, No, Cody never went to Tate Tail because
- 28:51Speaker 2: if you have my understanding, if you don't know Pate Tail,
- 28:55Speaker 2: you will get locked in there real quick.
- 28:57Speaker 3: That's that's I say. That's also accurate.
- 28:59Speaker 1: I only with Michael.
- 29:03Speaker 2: So if you don't know the area, you will get
- 29:05Speaker 2: lost in there very quickly. But for Cody to try
- 29:10Speaker 2: to make it from one oh nine to Tate Till
- 29:13Speaker 2: on his own and on foot, yeah, and being paranoid
- 29:18Speaker 2: like they say he was, and hallucinating. If he made
- 29:21Speaker 2: it out there, it's because somebody gave him a ride
- 29:23Speaker 2: or somebody took him out there. Yeah.
- 29:26Speaker 1: So you mentioned a call that you got from a
- 29:29Speaker 1: new detective regarding some remains that were recently found in
- 29:32Speaker 1: Walcola County. Can you tell us more about that?
- 29:36Speaker 2: That was actually it when the Walcola when it made
- 29:40Speaker 2: it to Facebook, is when he called me. Detective Tadlock
- 29:45Speaker 2: called me because he said that he wanted to tell
- 29:48Speaker 2: me before everybody else did. Because of course you know,
- 29:51Speaker 2: everybody started blowing my phonee over with take messages and
- 29:55Speaker 2: screenshots and calling me right and then after that he
- 30:00Speaker 2: told me that he would get in contact back with
- 30:02Speaker 2: me because the remains were with the forensics office trying
- 30:06Speaker 2: to verify whether it was male or female. I've called
- 30:09Speaker 2: him twice since then and I haven't got a call
- 30:12Speaker 2: back or text or an email or anything regarding anything
- 30:16Speaker 2: about the remains that was found in Wellcola, which is
- 30:20Speaker 2: kind of got me a little concerned of because usually
- 30:24Speaker 2: they call me back, you know, or I'll call the
- 30:26Speaker 2: sheriff and the sheriff of make them call me back.
- 30:29Speaker 2: But nobody has responded to my calls or my tags
- 30:33Speaker 2: since the Tuesday that the Vollcola remains was found and
- 30:37Speaker 2: it hit Facebook.
- 30:38Speaker 1: And I think that's two weeks now. I don't think
- 30:42Speaker 1: it was last week. Keep calling, don't don't stop calling,
- 30:46Speaker 1: keep calling, keep putting the pressure on. If there's one
- 30:49Speaker 1: thing that we've learned in our journey with what we
- 30:52Speaker 1: were doing, is sometimes that pressure is what it takes
- 30:56Speaker 1: and it doesn't always get a response, but eventually something
- 31:00Speaker 1: something happens with that. So keep keep the pressure on.
- 31:03Speaker 2: And I went far as Cody's grandmother knows a lady
- 31:10Speaker 2: that works in the Senator's office. I wrote up a
- 31:13Speaker 2: whole paper and gave it to her and she, you know,
- 31:18Speaker 2: felt to the senator's pupil And after that, it was
- 31:23Speaker 2: maybe within the week after that they had the cadaver
- 31:27Speaker 2: dogs out their search and force road one on nine
- 31:29Speaker 2: and to make sure that they were doing what they
- 31:32Speaker 2: were supposed to be doing. I went down there myself
- 31:36Speaker 2: to make sure that they did show up like they
- 31:37Speaker 2: were supposed to. And uh, let's see, and the detective
- 31:42Speaker 2: Tadlock has called me this one's probably been a little
- 31:46Speaker 2: over a month ago and said that there was that
- 31:50Speaker 2: the cadaver dogs had picked up, which is kind of
- 31:53Speaker 2: odd because cadaver dogs hasn't been out there in six months,
- 31:56Speaker 2: so I don't know why they were just now telling
- 31:58Speaker 2: me this that the cadaver dogs picked up on some
- 32:03Speaker 2: human remains that was out there, and they were going
- 32:06Speaker 2: to bring the cadaver dogs back and then they would
- 32:10Speaker 2: bring out short of state to start digging. But he
- 32:14Speaker 2: also said that those could be remains from you know,
- 32:17Speaker 2: Native Americans from hundreds of years ago. They never brought
- 32:20Speaker 2: the cadaver dogs back I've called to check on that
- 32:24Speaker 2: and keep telling me what We're trying to set up
- 32:26Speaker 2: a time with FDL, and I'm like, well, what's taken
- 32:30Speaker 2: so long there? Just just take the dogs back out there.
- 32:36Speaker 2: So I haven't really got a lot of information out
- 32:39Speaker 2: of Liberty County other than them just constantly telling me
- 32:42Speaker 2: the same thing over and over.
- 32:44Speaker 3: Do you know anything about how they've classified this case
- 32:47Speaker 3: like they do they suspect it's just a standard missing
- 32:51Speaker 3: person case. Do they think it's foul play is or
- 32:53Speaker 3: any Has there been any indication to the direction they're
- 32:57Speaker 3: taking their investigation?
- 32:58Speaker 2: I have the right now. Depictive Padlock said that it
- 33:01Speaker 2: is being worked as a missing person case because somebody
- 33:06Speaker 2: from in town had called me and was like, you know, hey,
- 33:08Speaker 2: I heard you're switching it to a homicide case. So
- 33:10Speaker 2: I called Detective Tadlock and he said no, that they
- 33:15Speaker 2: had no evidence to make it a homicide case, that
- 33:20Speaker 2: it was still being treated as a missing person case.
- 33:23Speaker 3: Okay, good, you know that's a very good question.
- 33:27Speaker 1: So what do you wish the public understood about Cody's
- 33:31Speaker 1: case that so that it doesn't get overlooked?
- 33:35Speaker 2: You know, it's just it's time to bring Cody home.
- 33:38Speaker 2: You know, I'm not going to let this just go.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Cody is a good person, you know, and he deserves
- 33:44Speaker 2: to be back home, and I'm not going to give up.
- 33:47Speaker 2: You know, for anybody that knows something, please come forward
- 33:51Speaker 2: and say something. You know, there's no information that is
- 33:55Speaker 2: too small. Cody is a good person, you know, he's
- 33:58Speaker 2: my son, he has siblings, he has a child hisself,
- 34:02Speaker 2: So it's you know, it's time for him to come home.
- 34:06Speaker 2: We all missing, we all love him, and it's not
- 34:09Speaker 2: really much we can do until we find him.
- 34:12Speaker 1: You talked a little bit about rumors and somebody calling
- 34:14Speaker 1: you saying something was going on that maybe isn't going on.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Are there any misconceptions that you're hearing in the community
- 34:21Speaker 1: that you'd like to take an opportunity to clear up?
- 34:24Speaker 2: Not really everything that all the rumors were the same
- 34:29Speaker 2: thing that were saying. You know, it's one of those
- 34:34Speaker 2: they told somebody this, then that person told somebody else,
- 34:38Speaker 2: and you know, by the time it got back to me,
- 34:41Speaker 2: it was basically the same story, just worded differently. Everybody
- 34:48Speaker 2: keeps claiming they don't know what happened to Cody or
- 34:51Speaker 2: where he's at, and then others claim that others claimed
- 34:56Speaker 2: that they hurt him and that they left him out
- 34:59Speaker 2: there because you know, there's bears and alligators and codies,
- 35:02Speaker 2: and you know, and even if it was an accident,
- 35:06Speaker 2: you know, maybe you know, even if you accidentally did
- 35:10Speaker 2: hurt him and you just left him there, just come
- 35:13Speaker 2: stay where so we can go. They just keep telling me.
- 35:17Speaker 2: Law enforcement just gets telling me that there's not a
- 35:20Speaker 2: whole lot that they can do considering that we can't
- 35:23Speaker 2: find Cody. They do have him running through codes uh
- 35:30Speaker 2: NA names. Then they also have him running through something
- 35:37Speaker 2: where all these cameras. If it catches the shot of him,
- 35:41Speaker 2: it immediately alerts the police. But there's been no use
- 35:46Speaker 2: of his bank account. And his bank account was empty,
- 35:50Speaker 2: like he had just got paid, so he had over
- 35:53Speaker 2: one thousand dollars in there. When we got the uh
- 35:57Speaker 2: the bank wouldn't tell me anything. So the you know,
- 36:00Speaker 2: if Daly or Liberty County had to get some pairperwork
- 36:03Speaker 2: to be able to pull Cody's bank records, there was
- 36:06Speaker 2: only like nineteen dollars in there. And there is surveillance
- 36:10Speaker 2: from the ATM machine of using Cody's debit card on
- 36:16Speaker 2: Saturday and when he was questioned about it, he said
- 36:19Speaker 2: that Cody had gave him permission to use his debit card,
- 36:23Speaker 2: and until we find Cody, we don't know if that's
- 36:26Speaker 2: true or not. But we do have a picture of
- 36:30Speaker 2: him off the ATM machine at Cody's bank with drawing
- 36:34Speaker 2: money and he withdrew everything.
- 36:37Speaker 1: We're sort of.
- 36:38Speaker 3: Looking at each other because I'm just going to say it.
- 36:41Speaker 3: I mean, I have to edit this part out because
- 36:43Speaker 3: I'm very careful about conjecture. I'm like, how are these
- 36:45Speaker 3: guys not arrested already?
- 36:46Speaker 2: Yeah, that was the death Blame me that with the birthday.
- 36:50Speaker 3: On camera, taking out the entire guy's savings. And there's
- 36:55Speaker 3: no way I buy that that was permission.
- 36:59Speaker 2: I seriously, Okay, coded gate his debit card and allowed
- 37:03Speaker 2: him to do that. And when I asked that question,
- 37:07Speaker 2: because I was also you know, wondering, you know, if
- 37:10Speaker 2: they were they admitted to giving him drugs? Is there
- 37:15Speaker 2: nothing that y'all can do, you know, with the video
- 37:19Speaker 2: surveillance of him using Cody's debit card. And I was
- 37:22Speaker 2: told that they did not want to the first time,
- 37:27Speaker 2: I was told they did not want to push the
- 37:29Speaker 2: issue too hard because if the guys decided to lawyer
- 37:32Speaker 2: up that we would never get any information out of them. Well,
- 37:35Speaker 2: if you're worried about them, lawyer enough, then y'all have
- 37:38Speaker 2: to know thumbing. Y'all have to be thinking something, Lawyer.
- 37:44Speaker 3: We've got camera footage of someone using someone else's debit
- 37:49Speaker 3: card and taking all of their money. We've got light
- 37:52Speaker 3: detector tests that have been failed, we've got a strange
- 37:56Speaker 3: story about truck swapping that can't be corroborated, and we
- 38:01Speaker 3: have information where they admit to giving him lace drugs
- 38:05Speaker 3: with the drugs lace you know, well, Mojo, I guess
- 38:08Speaker 3: cigarettes lace with meth, and that he was hallucinating and
- 38:13Speaker 3: running through the woods and they were chasing him and yeah,
- 38:17Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know why, he said. I'm not
- 38:18Speaker 3: a law enforcement officer, but I'm like, this seems pretty
- 38:23Speaker 3: open and shut to me.
- 38:25Speaker 2: That was my biggest thing when I went to them,
- 38:28Speaker 2: and I still asked them, why have we not done
- 38:31Speaker 2: anything about it? Because they was arrested like two weeks
- 38:36Speaker 2: after this happened on drug charges, but unrelated charges to
- 38:41Speaker 2: Cody's case. About three weeks after Cody went missing, left
- 38:45Speaker 2: and went moved to Georgia and their brothers and their brothers.
- 38:50Speaker 2: So but when they law enforcement tells me that the
- 38:55Speaker 2: only reason that they haven't charged them with anything is
- 38:58Speaker 2: because it would be mostly misdemeanors. And if this case
- 39:03Speaker 2: does turn into a homicide, that those would be the
- 39:06Speaker 2: first two guys that they would be looking at.
- 39:09Speaker 3: Yeah, and something we've noticed, I mean, ever since we've
- 39:12Speaker 3: started this podcast. You know, obviously at Lisa and I've
- 39:14Speaker 3: done a ton of research on how law enforcement operates
- 39:18Speaker 3: to try to understand what's reasonable it's not reasonable thinking
- 39:20Speaker 3: processes and why they approach things a certain way, and
- 39:24Speaker 3: to be fair to law enforcement, nobody, homicide cases are
- 39:29Speaker 3: incredibly difficult, and so if that's what happened, then going
- 39:35Speaker 3: forward with charges with nobody, there is a much larger
- 39:38Speaker 3: chance that they walk than if they had a body.
- 39:42Speaker 3: And that's I mean, that's the case law shows us
- 39:45Speaker 3: that we already know this.
- 39:46Speaker 2: And that's what they That's basically the same thing they
- 39:50Speaker 2: told me, right that you know, if this turned into
- 39:53Speaker 2: a homicide case, they'd rather be able to charge them
- 39:56Speaker 2: with a homicide instead of just or taking money. But
- 40:04Speaker 2: you know, when that footage, you know, was shown to me,
- 40:08Speaker 2: it made sense that one of the other people in
- 40:11Speaker 2: the community had mentioned that Cody that they had robbed
- 40:14Speaker 2: Cody because since they worked together, they all got paid
- 40:17Speaker 2: on the same day, so they knew Cody would have money.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Well, we know we robbed him because we have a
- 40:23Speaker 3: footage of it.
- 40:24Speaker 2: Right, I mean checked, So that's why they you know,
- 40:29Speaker 2: it got a lot of I know, there's just a
- 40:31Speaker 2: lot of empty hose in the whole situation. A lot
- 40:35Speaker 2: of it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense
- 40:39Speaker 2: to me anyway, you know, Like, ah, there was like
- 40:43Speaker 2: and then one of them just leaves, you know, just
- 40:47Speaker 2: leaves the whole state. Yeah, I mean, was that not
- 40:49Speaker 2: a red flag that you know, maybe we should be
- 40:54Speaker 2: keeping an eye on this guy? Or and why wait
- 40:57Speaker 2: three months later to take the cops out there where
- 41:01Speaker 2: Cody apparently threw the cell phone because then there was
- 41:04Speaker 2: they couldn't pull anything off of it because it had
- 41:06Speaker 2: been damaged.
- 41:07Speaker 3: So bad, so they found it.
- 41:09Speaker 1: There is a phone though.
- 41:10Speaker 2: They they did find the phone.
- 41:12Speaker 3: Okay, I didn't catch that when you first mentioned it.
- 41:14Speaker 2: Okay, there there's actually the two phones. The first phone
- 41:19Speaker 2: that Cody had that they're both men found, which was
- 41:22Speaker 2: turned into the police and sent to FDL E. The
- 41:25Speaker 2: second phone is a phone that Cody bought from the
- 41:30Speaker 2: dollar store, which wouldn't make any sense. Why would you
- 41:33Speaker 2: buy a cheap phone when you had an iPhone? The
- 41:36Speaker 2: iPhone ten? And then he they claimed they saw him
- 41:40Speaker 2: throw the phone, but it was three months later that
- 41:44Speaker 2: they took law enforcement out there and showed them where
- 41:48Speaker 2: they had where Cody through the phone. But by that
- 41:51Speaker 2: point the phone had been damaged so bad they couldn't
- 41:54Speaker 2: get anything off of it.
- 41:55Speaker 3: Here's what's interesting too that I know about burner phones.
- 41:59Speaker 3: They may not really give it anything off the phone itself,
- 42:01Speaker 3: but they can certainly tell when the phone was purchased
- 42:03Speaker 3: and activated. Do they have that information?
- 42:06Speaker 2: They did not sink. They just said they found the phone,
- 42:10Speaker 2: send it to fl but it had been damaged and
- 42:13Speaker 2: they wasn't able to put anything off of it.
- 42:15Speaker 1: Well, and there's cameras on all those stores, so that
- 42:17Speaker 1: would be something they could Well, yeah, you.
- 42:19Speaker 3: Could confirm number one, did Cody buy it? And number
- 42:22Speaker 3: two when and not for what purpose? Obviously, but they
- 42:25Speaker 3: could actually track exactly when it was act. They can't
- 42:28Speaker 3: track when exactly he purchased it. They can track when
- 42:30Speaker 3: exactly he activated it.
- 42:32Speaker 2: And this is another thing claimed that. And we do
- 42:39Speaker 2: have some footage from the dollar Store from Cody inside
- 42:42Speaker 2: the dollar Store on Saturday. So on Saturday, we know
- 42:45Speaker 2: Cody was still okay, well physically okay, because we do
- 42:50Speaker 2: have footage of film in the Dollar Store.
- 42:53Speaker 3: Buying the phone.
- 42:55Speaker 2: Well, Kate really tell if it's a phone, but he did.
- 43:01Speaker 2: It does look like the phone. But then he also
- 43:04Speaker 2: had a couple of bottles of water and a tarp
- 43:07Speaker 2: because they said that Tody knew he was in trouble,
- 43:11Speaker 2: that he was going to run. If you're going to run,
- 43:15Speaker 2: what you're gonna walk down the road with the tart
- 43:18Speaker 2: kind of battle.
- 43:19Speaker 3: Of water, That seemed like a lot of preparation, right
- 43:22Speaker 3: and run from what exactly?
- 43:25Speaker 2: Like what do you what is it that you're running from?
- 43:28Speaker 2: Because you know, I mean, yeah, Grandy Hue would have
- 43:31Speaker 2: been in trouble, but not like to the point he
- 43:35Speaker 2: would would go to prison or anything like that. You know,
- 43:37Speaker 2: they would probably just would have cut his curfew back,
- 43:40Speaker 2: you know, earlier and to the day. And it's his
- 43:43Speaker 2: PO like hege like I said, he had to go
- 43:45Speaker 2: check in once a month, and his PO would just
- 43:47Speaker 2: periodically just drop in and Cody was always here, always
- 43:51Speaker 2: made all of his appointments. His PO talked very highly
- 43:54Speaker 2: of him. You know, Cody had a job, held down
- 43:56Speaker 2: the job, went to work every day, you know, was
- 44:00Speaker 2: paying the PO you know, like he's supposed to. You know,
- 44:03Speaker 2: he was doing everything right. So what happened in that
- 44:08Speaker 2: one day that turned everything around?
- 44:11Speaker 1: Is there anything else that you wanted to share that
- 44:13Speaker 1: we didn't give you an opportunity to talk about that.
- 44:16Speaker 2: Well, I've noticed that some of the posts that have
- 44:21Speaker 2: been made by other people in the community says to
- 44:25Speaker 2: approach Cody with caution. Tody is harmless. He is not
- 44:30Speaker 2: going to hurt anybody. He would never hurt anybody. You know,
- 44:34Speaker 2: he would give you the shirt off of his back
- 44:36Speaker 2: before he would even try to hurt somebody. So and
- 44:42Speaker 2: then one other thing that I just thought about was
- 44:46Speaker 2: I had also reported to the police that Cody at
- 44:49Speaker 2: some point had made this statement that that he would
- 44:53Speaker 2: kill a cop. Tody would never hurt anybody, Like I
- 44:56Speaker 2: told the officers, that's a lie, that that that is
- 44:58Speaker 2: a straight up life me. That sounded more like if
- 45:01Speaker 2: y'all did find him, they want y'all to just automatically
- 45:04Speaker 2: open fire on him. He's not even allowed to have
- 45:06Speaker 2: a gun, and he had no wippons when he went missing,
- 45:09Speaker 2: So what is he going to hurt anybody with?
- 45:14Speaker 1: Thank you for listening to Michelle tell about her son, Cody,
- 45:17Speaker 1: and we'd like to appreciate her again for coming on
- 45:19Speaker 1: with such courage as we can imagine this is a
- 45:22Speaker 1: very challenging time for her. At the time of his disappearance,
- 45:26Speaker 1: Cody was twenty two years old, weighed one hundred and
- 45:29Speaker 1: thirty five pounds, and was five foot eight. He was
- 45:32Speaker 1: described as a white male with brown hair and brown eyes.
- 45:36Speaker 1: Cody has a tattoo of the letter C on his
- 45:39Speaker 1: shoulder and a tiny cross on his right wrist. If
