- 0:16Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered. Talking to your mother, Yeah you weren't mad
- 0:21Speaker 1: that she got you sick, and it really wasn't heard
- 0:23Speaker 1: that cut be sick. Yeah, a little bit of that. Yeah,
- 0:28Speaker 1: they're trying to do I lost ten pounds. I didn't
- 0:30Speaker 1: have to lose, but wow, I lost five pounds. He
- 0:35Speaker 1: could be a podcast listener. Traditional podcast. That's true. Looking
- 0:41Speaker 1: you never heard of that. That's a term I made.
- 0:43Speaker 1: I was traditional, like in the olden days when past
- 0:46Speaker 1: right like five years ago. Do you remember how we
- 0:48Speaker 1: got attacked? Yeah, what are you talking about? It was
- 0:50Speaker 1: really exciting. I thought it was. I don't know how
- 0:53Speaker 1: you thought that game was exciting, But you didn't think Sunday.
- 0:55Speaker 1: And I'm not saying that. I just said. I'm not
- 0:58Speaker 1: saying you individual. I know you listened to my stations
- 1:01Speaker 1: a lot. I'm being accused. No, no, no, not you.
- 1:04Speaker 1: I'm gonna start doing one a week until I'm down
- 1:06Speaker 1: to the way that I shouldn't be sure. Yeah, it's
- 1:08Speaker 1: a good diet. You're doing that for the next ten years.
- 1:13Speaker 1: This is Patriot's Unfiltered fueled by Duncan. All right, welcome
- 1:20Speaker 1: the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here at Gilette Stadium
- 1:25Speaker 1: and another offseason Patriots Unfiltered show. I'm I'm you guys
- 1:31Speaker 1: in a good mood. I can't see you, Fred. Why
- 1:33Speaker 1: are these monitors? We've got monitors for the revolution that
- 1:37Speaker 1: monitors they need because they're doing the show from the studio.
- 1:41Speaker 1: I knew that, yeah already. So you feel good? I
- 1:45Speaker 1: feel pretty good. Yeah, I mean there's a lot of
- 1:48Speaker 1: hand ray what's the Patriot What are they gonna do
- 1:51Speaker 1: about the coaches and all that stuff. I feel like
- 1:54Speaker 1: that's gonna take care of itself. I'm not worried about that.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I'm more worried about the personnel. That was a little
- 1:59Speaker 1: bit of news in that regard over the weekend or
- 2:02Speaker 1: you know, over the long holiday weekend. There's Burt Brears
- 2:06Speaker 1: report that Joe Judge is going to be a quarterbacks coach,
- 2:10Speaker 1: Matt Patricia is going to be an offensive line coach.
- 2:13Speaker 1: So there's a little bit more clarity than maybe we
- 2:16Speaker 1: had the last time we were on the air. Question,
- 2:20Speaker 1: I don't think that's right. Yeah, that's what I was
- 2:21Speaker 1: about to happen. Yeah, I'm wondering if, like, what's the
- 2:24Speaker 1: source of that? Right? Yeah, I heard that, and I'm
- 2:27Speaker 1: I said, I'm going to write this down to remember
- 2:29Speaker 1: if this is exactly how it happens, because and there's
- 2:32Speaker 1: everyone's running with it. Yeah, there's been about three or
- 2:34Speaker 1: four iterations of how it's all Yeah, this this is terrible.
- 2:37Speaker 1: We gotta do something about this. Um. And I don't
- 2:41Speaker 1: think that that any of them have it quite right. Um.
- 2:45Speaker 1: I think it's close in some ways, but it's not
- 2:47Speaker 1: quite right. Um. I'll take my stab at and if
- 2:51Speaker 1: everybody else is going to do it, yeah, let's let's
- 2:54Speaker 1: let's go with the with the show like submission, okay.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Patrioson filter says the coach staff is okay. So I
- 3:02Speaker 1: think Matt Patricia will work with the offensive line. That's
- 3:06Speaker 1: the one that makes sense because he actually has worked
- 3:08Speaker 1: with the offensive line in the past, albeit seventeen seventeen
- 3:12Speaker 1: years played offensive line too. I'll go with that one.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I think Nick Cayley is going to move to quarterbacks,
- 3:21Speaker 1: and Joe Judge will work with tight ends, and I
- 3:24Speaker 1: think ultimately your play caller will be Nicky Nick Kayley, Yeah,
- 3:29Speaker 1: that's that's my that's my feeling. I agree with that,
- 3:31Speaker 1: the only one I would. I still am a little
- 3:35Speaker 1: bit surprised if it's true that Patricia's gonna go back
- 3:39Speaker 1: into coaching. I just there's a lot that he's doing
- 3:43Speaker 1: on the personnel side, you know, back office type stuff.
- 3:46Speaker 1: And I haven't been able to see you, and I
- 3:48Speaker 1: wanted to talk to you about that because about a
- 3:50Speaker 1: week and a half ago you sort of convinced me
- 3:53Speaker 1: that he wasn't going back to coach that's right, and
- 3:55Speaker 1: said it in a way that made me think that
- 3:57Speaker 1: you may have no so I have somebody no listen.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I mean, everybody does what they can do on Belichick's staff.
- 4:04Speaker 1: We've seen that in the past, so it wouldn't be
- 4:07Speaker 1: you know, but it would surprise me in this instance
- 4:10Speaker 1: if Patricia has time to be a position coach and
- 4:16Speaker 1: all the stuff that he's doing, you know on the
- 4:19Speaker 1: other you know, well, but is he's still going to
- 4:20Speaker 1: do that? Well? Yeah, I don't question if he decides
- 4:23Speaker 1: to go back to coach. Like remember when when Cassario
- 4:26Speaker 1: first started here, he was I think personnel, then he
- 4:29Speaker 1: ended up coaching wide receivers in oh seven, then he
- 4:31Speaker 1: went back to personnel, so he kind of like gave
- 4:34Speaker 1: up one thing to do the other each time. It's
- 4:36Speaker 1: not like he was doing all of those things. Yeah,
- 4:37Speaker 1: but so maybe maybe this is the same thing on
- 4:40Speaker 1: the personnel side. It's a lot. It's hiring people, it's
- 4:43Speaker 1: installing processes and new software and all this stuff, and
- 4:47Speaker 1: and now all of a sudden, you're just gonna start coaching.
- 4:50Speaker 1: It's just surprising to me, and not even to mention.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Was he kind of doing the Bill Ernie thing last year?
- 4:55Speaker 1: Was he the game day you know voice in his
- 4:58Speaker 1: ear that too? I mean, that's can he balance all that?
- 5:01Speaker 1: Could he be the offensive line coach, the personnel manager
- 5:03Speaker 1: and the game day you know, and then his an
- 5:05Speaker 1: assistant coaching the offensive line on game day? And maybe
- 5:11Speaker 1: it wolf takes over a lot of the stuff that
- 5:12Speaker 1: you were just talking about, Fred, because you know, he
- 5:15Speaker 1: was in line for a couple of the GM jobs,
- 5:17Speaker 1: didn't get them, and now he's back here. So maybe
- 5:19Speaker 1: that's a logical role for him to step into. Yeah,
- 5:23Speaker 1: I mean possibly, but you know, if your Bill like
- 5:26Speaker 1: how long, you know, don't you think that Elliott Wilson
- 5:30Speaker 1: not long for your you know, like he didn't leave
- 5:32Speaker 1: this season, but probably he's gonna leave next season. Maybe no,
- 5:34Speaker 1: But I mean the same thing was Ziggler. You know,
- 5:36Speaker 1: Causari left, Ziggler was here for a year now, Ziggler left.
- 5:39Speaker 1: So I mean, yeah, I just it looked to me
- 5:43Speaker 1: everything that I've been seeing and heard that Patricia was
- 5:47Speaker 1: more along the route of the GM route rather than coaching. Again,
- 5:52Speaker 1: like I've had enough with coaching. I'm gonna invest, you know,
- 5:56Speaker 1: look at more of the personnel GM part of football,
- 6:01Speaker 1: especially coaching offensive line, which feels like such a I
- 6:04Speaker 1: don't want to say it's totally detached, but at least
- 6:06Speaker 1: with some of the defensive positions, you see the crossover
- 6:09Speaker 1: and they all work together and they put a plan together,
- 6:11Speaker 1: whereas you always see the offensive line down in Dante's
- 6:15Speaker 1: Inferno doing their own things so self contained. Matt Patricia
- 6:19Speaker 1: last year floating around like Bill kind of does, checking
- 6:22Speaker 1: out different things from different days. So I still think
- 6:25Speaker 1: they need another body in there somewhere, even if it's
- 6:27Speaker 1: a lower level guy. It just doesn't feel like they
- 6:29Speaker 1: have enough. Well, it wasn't just Priscillo last year that
- 6:32Speaker 1: was doing offensive yeah, so maybe so maybe Patricia's just
- 6:37Speaker 1: kind of like helping out Yates until he's ready. Maybe
- 6:40Speaker 1: next year Yates takes the maybe kind of overseeing oversee
- 6:44Speaker 1: is going to be the actual coach yet maybe it
- 6:46Speaker 1: could be Yeah, possible, But again, Isaiah Wynn last year,
- 6:51Speaker 1: uncertainty at right tackle. These are long term positions that
- 6:54Speaker 1: they need to find and develop and protect Mac and
- 6:57Speaker 1: you know, just kind of seeming right now, like the
- 6:59Speaker 1: offensive line is a little bit Wow, he'll just do it.
- 7:02Speaker 1: It's but aside for Patricia, I'm not I'm not like
- 7:06Speaker 1: um freaking out about the rest of it. I mean,
- 7:09Speaker 1: I like Joe Judge's tight ends. Plus he's gonna have
- 7:12Speaker 1: more offensive systems, so I'm sure he'll float a little bit.
- 7:16Speaker 1: I like Kaylee Um. You know, it's quarterbacks coach. I mean,
- 7:20Speaker 1: he's a young guy that probably can get along with
- 7:23Speaker 1: Mac and and you know, if if they can develop
- 7:26Speaker 1: into a play caller, that's fine. Well, if you don't
- 7:29Speaker 1: hate all the Patriots coaches, because that's what everybody does.
- 7:32Speaker 1: They hate all the Patriots know it. Well, I don't
- 7:34Speaker 1: know if it's hate so much as there's so much uncertainty. Yeah,
- 7:37Speaker 1: I don't know how you can't be worried. I just
- 7:38Speaker 1: I just don't. I don't know how you could just
- 7:40Speaker 1: say I don't think it'll work itself out, no matter
- 7:42Speaker 1: I don't have a coordinated side of the ball right
- 7:44Speaker 1: and no matter who you pick on offense, that person
- 7:46Speaker 1: has never called offensive plays in the In the NFL,
- 7:49Speaker 1: you got three preseason games to get to gig. Oh yeah,
- 7:53Speaker 1: that's that's that makes you feel all that And again
- 7:56Speaker 1: I recognize that you know every he has to call
- 8:00Speaker 1: plays for the first time at some point. I just
- 8:03Speaker 1: would rather not be in an NFL game, like people
- 8:08Speaker 1: have said, Like you know, Josh McDaniels, you know, he
- 8:11Speaker 1: had a similar kind of path, and then he became
- 8:15Speaker 1: the offensive coordinator, but he was part of that path,
- 8:18Speaker 1: like his father was a coach. He was sort of
- 8:21Speaker 1: on that track, I think more so than Joe Judge,
- 8:27Speaker 1: who was working with special teams for the better part
- 8:29Speaker 1: of the last decade before he became a head coach.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I just would feel better if there was a little
- 8:35Speaker 1: bit more of a plan, and it just seems like
- 8:40Speaker 1: they're cobbling this together as we go. I would feel
- 8:42Speaker 1: better if there was more of a right what's the
- 8:45Speaker 1: plan direction? Right, what's the plan? Man? I know that's
- 8:49Speaker 1: also this like weird period where we are right now
- 8:51Speaker 1: where right, things should change in the next couple of weeks.
- 8:54Speaker 1: But I mean, I agree with Ball's point, Like, I'm
- 8:56Speaker 1: definitely concerned. I just I'm surprised every time I go
- 8:58Speaker 1: on the radio. Everyone hate Bill, everyone hates Joe Judge,
- 9:02Speaker 1: everyone hates like just across the board radio. You know.
- 9:06Speaker 1: To Deuce's point, there is it, like I think somewhat
- 9:10Speaker 1: abnormal fixation with hatred to a Judge in Patricia. Yeah,
- 9:14Speaker 1: I mean the whole thing with Judges. He was fine
- 9:16Speaker 1: until he had those weird press conferences and with the Giants,
- 9:20Speaker 1: and he was a train wreck in New York. But
- 9:21Speaker 1: but that's who cares. But I know, but like Josh
- 9:23Speaker 1: McDaniels was a train wreck in Denver. No one went
- 9:26Speaker 1: crazy about that when he came. So maybe he's not
- 9:29Speaker 1: you know, head coaching isn't for him. But up until
- 9:31Speaker 1: that point, we were fine with Joe Judge, you know.
- 9:34Speaker 1: But this is my point, Like, yeah, Josh McDaniels was
- 9:37Speaker 1: as big a train wreck in Denver as Joe Judge
- 9:39Speaker 1: was with the Giants, right, Matt Patricia was with the Lions,
- 9:42Speaker 1: but the vitriol toward those two as opposed to Josh
- 9:47Speaker 1: when he came back is night and day. I don't
- 9:50Speaker 1: I don't really. I kind of agree with with Mike.
- 9:53Speaker 1: I'm not thrilled with the situation, but I don't really
- 9:55Speaker 1: understand the hatred. Why does everybody hate those two guys
- 9:57Speaker 1: so long? I think, well, far be it for me to,
- 10:01Speaker 1: you know, guess on what other people are thinking. But
- 10:03Speaker 1: the only thing I can surmises that maybe people think
- 10:07Speaker 1: they didn't expect Patricia or Judge to be head coaches
- 10:11Speaker 1: as quickly as they were, whereas like Josh kind of
- 10:13Speaker 1: looked like he was he had more experience at that
- 10:16Speaker 1: point and was kind of like a logical choice to
- 10:19Speaker 1: be a head coach. Somewhere, I think a lot of
- 10:20Speaker 1: people felt like, who are these guys to be head coaches?
- 10:23Speaker 1: Like what have they done? That's certainly, that's certainly truly
- 10:26Speaker 1: And if you and if you like couldn't stand them
- 10:30Speaker 1: as head coaches, that's fine. But up until that point
- 10:32Speaker 1: they were okay, and now they're back as head coaches,
- 10:35Speaker 1: So like why, I think it's all about the personalities.
- 10:40Speaker 1: I think Josh McDaniels. I love the guy. Yeah, most
- 10:43Speaker 1: people who have ever interacted with them love him too,
- 10:46Speaker 1: because he's really personal and he's outgoing and good natured
- 10:51Speaker 1: toward the media. Yeah. The other two aren't. Especially they
- 10:55Speaker 1: weren't as head coaches. Were assistance. Really, she was always nice.
- 11:00Speaker 1: He gave the most generic Bland answers you've ever Yeah,
- 11:03Speaker 1: but not in a very nice way. Joe Judge was
- 11:06Speaker 1: flat out confrontation Matt. I mean, Tom Curran used to
- 11:08Speaker 1: try to pick fights with Matt Patricia those and I
- 11:11Speaker 1: thought I thought Matt Patricia was pretty patient with him.
- 11:14Speaker 1: You know. There's a reason one never mind, But anyway,
- 11:16Speaker 1: I think that's it. Though. I think everybody likes Josh
- 11:20Speaker 1: like I'm interacted with right and very few. That's another,
- 11:24Speaker 1: which is I think another reason why a lot of
- 11:26Speaker 1: people were clamoring to get Billy O'Brien, but also Brian
- 11:30Speaker 1: Flores back here. He, by the way, is with Pittsburgh. Yeah. Interesting,
- 11:34Speaker 1: he says he has no ill will to it. Belichick,
- 11:36Speaker 1: by the way, I don't know why he wouldn't. I don't.
- 11:39Speaker 1: I don't know why he it's the other way he
- 11:41Speaker 1: needs to John Smith catching touchdown. By the way that
- 11:44Speaker 1: they're showing the top ten games of twenty twenty one,
- 11:47Speaker 1: and the Patriots Tampa Bay was number seven. It was
- 11:50Speaker 1: seven six late into the third quarter. It was fourteen
- 11:54Speaker 1: thirteen Patriots in the fourth quarter. I know, but no,
- 11:56Speaker 1: I'm just saying it was like a low scoring game
- 11:58Speaker 1: late into the third scoring it was nineteen seventeen seven.
- 12:02Speaker 1: It was seven six Patriots late into the third with
- 12:04Speaker 1: like four minutes to go, and then pick six. Yeah,
- 12:07Speaker 1: big played to born over time pick six in that game.
- 12:11Speaker 1: I don't think so that was Dallas guy. Sometimes they
- 12:17Speaker 1: just if you're gonna make me remember things that happened
- 12:22Speaker 1: this season yet too much twenty four years ago. If
- 12:26Speaker 1: you're gonna make me have to worry about this year,
- 12:28Speaker 1: come on, I'm an offseason mode. I didn't realize it anyway.
- 12:32Speaker 1: I don't do that to me, do so. I also
- 12:35Speaker 1: think that I think I think a lot of fans
- 12:37Speaker 1: and people in the media are frustrated with the lack
- 12:40Speaker 1: of titles, um you know um. And I think that
- 12:44Speaker 1: you know, with the Suns, you know, the nepotism. I
- 12:46Speaker 1: think you're fixating on stuff that like if they brought back,
- 12:50Speaker 1: if if they breat back Billy O'Brien and just called
- 12:54Speaker 1: him an offensive assistant, I don't think there'd be any
- 12:56Speaker 1: hand ringing. Yeah, I really don't. I think it's the
- 12:59Speaker 1: fact that they don't have a coordinator and no obvious
- 13:03Speaker 1: guy there that would be serving as such that we
- 13:05Speaker 1: know of, Like maybe don't know somebody's going to be
- 13:08Speaker 1: doing it, but it's not obvious. If Bill O'Brien came
- 13:10Speaker 1: back and they didn't give him the title, everybody would
- 13:12Speaker 1: worry about it. Right, Billy was running the offense. But
- 13:15Speaker 1: if Brian Flores came back on defense and they didn't
- 13:17Speaker 1: give him the title, people wouldn't be worried. But but but
- 13:19Speaker 1: for all we know and we don't. But for all
- 13:21Speaker 1: we know, Bill is like Nick Kayley is on My
- 13:25Speaker 1: Next Superstar, like he he might have the utmost confidence
- 13:28Speaker 1: in him. Um, you know, but we just don't know.
- 13:32Speaker 1: We don't have that knowledge, right, So people are gonna
- 13:35Speaker 1: be worried when you don't know. Yeah, except for you,
- 13:38Speaker 1: you just think it'll work. Coach Fat, Whatever Bill does,
- 13:42Speaker 1: he does, I trust. It has nothing to do with
- 13:45Speaker 1: trusting Bill. I know Bill is a good coach. I
- 13:48Speaker 1: don't know if the other guys are good coaches. No,
- 13:50Speaker 1: but he knows that's the thing, right, and that he
- 13:53Speaker 1: doesn't How does does he want it this way? Like
- 13:55Speaker 1: you would think at this stage he'd want to have
- 13:57Speaker 1: a nice, experienced staff that he familiar with. And I mean,
- 14:02Speaker 1: I hear with Paul saying, I mean getting stretched too thin,
- 14:05Speaker 1: not being able to get the message out, not being
- 14:07Speaker 1: able to relay it. And I like the way Paul
- 14:09Speaker 1: put it. It It feels cobbled together. It kind of feels like, oh,
- 14:13Speaker 1: it's reactionary instead of proactive, you know, yeah, And it
- 14:17Speaker 1: feels like, you know, I think the last few years,
- 14:19Speaker 1: it just feels like you're kind of incubating for other teams.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Right now, it doesn't really feel like you're incubating for
- 14:24Speaker 1: the Patriots. It feels like, well, we're gonna develop this
- 14:26Speaker 1: guy and then he's gonna go and then develop this guy.
- 14:28Speaker 1: And that's just what it's been happening. Well, but that's
- 14:30Speaker 1: I mean, that is the case. But what do you
- 14:33Speaker 1: do about that? You know, I know, he can't stop
- 14:35Speaker 1: people from bettering their lives and advancing. I mean, I'm
- 14:39Speaker 1: not worried about the guys that they're losing. I'm worried
- 14:41Speaker 1: about not replacing anybody. Yeah, that's my concern. If they
- 14:44Speaker 1: don't lose anybody, I don't have to replace him. Yeah,
- 14:46Speaker 1: but I don't. In other words, I don't think Mick
- 14:48Speaker 1: Lombardi was this grandiose loss. Yeah, like I think of
- 14:51Speaker 1: him the way I think of the guys that he hear.
- 14:53Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know what they have, So
- 14:56Speaker 1: I'm not worried about the guys they lose, but I
- 14:59Speaker 1: think there was an opportunity here. You lost Josh McDaniels.
- 15:01Speaker 1: I am worried about that. Yeah, and they're just replacing
- 15:05Speaker 1: them with unknowns. Yeah, unknowns. I won't say stiffs because
- 15:09Speaker 1: I don't know unknowns. But I'm more concerned about it
- 15:14Speaker 1: than you, that's for sure. Okay, it's like bloody H'm
- 15:18Speaker 1: not gonna worry about here. Can we check back there
- 15:20Speaker 1: in like a month than I'll know. And that's just
- 15:23Speaker 1: a great point right there, that Dukes just fell into that.
- 15:26Speaker 1: That's I'm gonna do one of my things that Fred
- 15:28Speaker 1: makes fun of me for all the time, and I'm
- 15:30Speaker 1: going to start an argument before it happens. You get ready,
- 15:33Speaker 1: because you know how it's gonna go duce. It's gonna
- 15:35Speaker 1: be Week four. The offense is gonna be sputtering, and
- 15:38Speaker 1: we gotta listen to all this grap. Who's called the plays, Mike,
- 15:41Speaker 1: I don't know what? Like, who's doing what they were
- 15:45Speaker 1: Ruddler's ship, Like, I don't want to deal with that
- 15:47Speaker 1: crap because it's not gonna You made a point early
- 15:50Speaker 1: in the show that I think is more important. You're
- 15:53Speaker 1: more worried about personnel, yeah, than and I agree, I
- 15:57Speaker 1: am more worried about personnel. And if this, if they're
- 16:00Speaker 1: stuttering and not being able to move the ball, it's
- 16:03Speaker 1: gonna be more because of that. But that's what you're
- 16:06Speaker 1: gonna have to deal with. That's what happens when you
- 16:07Speaker 1: don't get an offensive coordinator, right, I just supposed to
- 16:10Speaker 1: move the ball, dude, hanging mac Jones out to dry,
- 16:12Speaker 1: get ready for it. I'm happening, but it's coming. You
- 16:15Speaker 1: can't win because even now Josh is gone, and it's like,
- 16:18Speaker 1: oh but when he was here, I how did he
- 16:23Speaker 1: call a run? He should have been pass. I'm so
- 16:25Speaker 1: sick of these drop plays. I'm third and ten touchdown, right,
- 16:31Speaker 1: that's all right? Yeah? Yeah, it's crazy, it is and Uh,
- 16:35Speaker 1: I'm you know, watching keeping an eye on the Rams too,
- 16:37Speaker 1: because I mean, you know, not totally the same, but
- 16:40Speaker 1: similar situation. They're getting a lot of offensive coaches who
- 16:43Speaker 1: are heading out with Kevin O'Connell, and you know how
- 16:45Speaker 1: Sean mcveaghana gonna do the similar kind of thing there.
- 16:48Speaker 1: You know, I think all teams face this to some extent,
- 16:50Speaker 1: but it just feels like it's kind of been compounding
- 16:52Speaker 1: over the last five years or the Patriots, and you're,
- 16:54Speaker 1: you know, you just don't have those guys around anymore
- 16:56Speaker 1: that have been here for a while, and who knows.
- 16:59Speaker 1: I mean, I guess you gotta knick Kaylee in there
- 17:01Speaker 1: to see what he's got. But Kayley is the guy
- 17:03Speaker 1: I'm intrigued by. I want to he's been around a
- 17:06Speaker 1: few years. I want to see if he can grow
- 17:08Speaker 1: into a bigger role because that's you know, like I
- 17:11Speaker 1: think he's similar to Josh. Yeah, he's been around four
- 17:14Speaker 1: or five years, and now we're gonna make him the
- 17:17Speaker 1: offensive quard. That's what they did with Josh right and
- 17:19Speaker 1: oh five, yeah, yeah, it was. It was two thousand
- 17:22Speaker 1: to two thousand and five. Yeah, and then he became
- 17:24Speaker 1: the offensive coordinator. That's kind of why I think Kayley's
- 17:27Speaker 1: the guy. So No. Five, five, everybody left, right, it
- 17:31Speaker 1: was I mean both sides of the ball. Did they
- 17:34Speaker 1: not have coordinators on either side of the ball that
- 17:37Speaker 1: one year? They didn't name them? Name them? Josh. Josh
- 17:40Speaker 1: was the quarterbacks coach technically from four to five, and
- 17:45Speaker 1: then in oh six he got the the coordinator the
- 17:48Speaker 1: defensive side of the ball at that point, Man Genie, Yeah,
- 17:51Speaker 1: Genie right, Ryan Genius, Yes, and then he left after
- 17:57Speaker 1: just that one year, right, I believe it was one. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 18:02Speaker 1: it's always happening. He got the Jets job and oh
- 18:04Speaker 1: six Jets coach Switty say hello. Yeah. So speaking of coaches,
- 18:10Speaker 1: Eric did mention Flores is now a defensive assistant with
- 18:15Speaker 1: the Steelers. Interesting line and linebackers coach. I've never really
- 18:20Speaker 1: seen them as that kind of defense, like I just
- 18:22Speaker 1: seems like they've always dick Lebau. They kind of do
- 18:24Speaker 1: what they do. It seems some kind of changes maybe
- 18:27Speaker 1: a little bit. I mean, Flores just seems a different
- 18:29Speaker 1: kind of kind of guy for that defensive system move.
- 18:32Speaker 1: I think playing a guy and I think the aggressiveness
- 18:35Speaker 1: in the in the blitzing. I mean, no one blitzes
- 18:37Speaker 1: more than Pittsburgh, you know, the zone blitzes and the
- 18:39Speaker 1: different kinds of red dogs. I think that's a I
- 18:44Speaker 1: think that's a good fit. I I don't know what's
- 18:47Speaker 1: going to happen with I'm a little surprised he took
- 18:50Speaker 1: a job. I thought there might be a chance. He
- 18:51Speaker 1: just stepped back concentrated on the lawsuit, and I think
- 18:55Speaker 1: he has enough to deal with. I don't know. I
- 18:57Speaker 1: don't know about that move. Yeah, for him and for
- 19:00Speaker 1: its Burg yep um, And then the Brady news won't stop.
- 19:04Speaker 1: People are convinced now he's coming back. Yeah, Paul Paul
- 19:09Speaker 1: talking about it on his show on Sunday. That was
- 19:13Speaker 1: the U Paul did the football show in the morning.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Refresh my memory when I say he wasn't supposed to
- 19:18Speaker 1: be there. He just shows up now at the radio
- 19:20Speaker 1: station and they're like one of those guys, all right,
- 19:24Speaker 1: he just shows all right, he won't leave. I'm supposed
- 19:26Speaker 1: to be on this Sunday. Really showed up. So did
- 19:29Speaker 1: Ted go home or something? When you know Ted wasn't in.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Oh that's how I that's how I got an idea
- 19:34Speaker 1: that I was check that. Let me check that text again.
- 19:38Speaker 1: I'm just imagining the calls upstairs, like, huh, Paul prills downstairs,
- 19:42Speaker 1: Well let him in morning Sunday. Might as well just
- 19:45Speaker 1: let him in. He's not gonna go home. Put him on.
- 19:49Speaker 1: That was good, But yeah, that's what they're Everybody just
- 19:52Speaker 1: seems like now he's coming back, he'll be back. I
- 19:54Speaker 1: don't know when. When, When will he come back? When?
- 19:56Speaker 1: And where? I think? So? When? And where just the
- 19:58Speaker 1: right opportunity do you guys think I think what I'm saying,
- 20:01Speaker 1: like where? Where? Where would the right Where would the
- 20:03Speaker 1: right opportunity? Francisco? Yes, everyone's saying, you know, Florio is
- 20:08Speaker 1: convinced he's going to be going to San Francisco. I've
- 20:10Speaker 1: been going back and forth on will we just come
- 20:13Speaker 1: back for the right opportunity or is it something specific
- 20:16Speaker 1: that he has in mind? Yea like one or two
- 20:18Speaker 1: teams that he has in mind. I think it might
- 20:20Speaker 1: be the latter. And you know, we we you know,
- 20:24Speaker 1: we were guessing that, you know, one of the reasons
- 20:27Speaker 1: why he called it quits. He was sick of the nonsense.
- 20:30Speaker 1: And now there's stories about uh, you know him and
- 20:33Speaker 1: arians and Byron Leftwich and Brady would do the offensive
- 20:37Speaker 1: game plan with Leftwich and then Arians would come in
- 20:39Speaker 1: with a red pen and they didn't like that. And
- 20:42Speaker 1: Arians is saying that's not true. Edward R. Morrow Richard
- 20:46Speaker 1: Owenburger on that's yeah, yeah, former Patriots offensive line. I
- 20:50Speaker 1: do find it interesting that that really hasn't been overly
- 20:53Speaker 1: corroborated by anybody. No. No, And I think Arians shot
- 20:57Speaker 1: it down as well. Yeah, I mean I would expect
- 20:59Speaker 1: him to, but I haven't seen a lot of like
- 21:01Speaker 1: the Tampa and I don't read everything, so I might
- 21:03Speaker 1: have missed it, but I haven't seen a lot of
- 21:04Speaker 1: the Rick Strouds and that the veteran Bucks guys say yeah,
- 21:08Speaker 1: you know, I've there there's something to this one. But
- 21:11Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, So the head coach allows the quarterback
- 21:14Speaker 1: and the offensive coordinator to come up with the game plan,
- 21:16Speaker 1: then he comes in and makes a couple of edits
- 21:18Speaker 1: and changes. So what he's the head coach, he should
- 21:21Speaker 1: be able to right like, oh, you can't do anything,
- 21:25Speaker 1: like you have to just accept it as is. You
- 21:27Speaker 1: can't have any input as the head coach. I like
- 21:31Speaker 1: I found that looks I found that a little bit like,
- 21:34Speaker 1: if it's true, a little bit diva ish on the
- 21:37Speaker 1: part of Brady and Left, which like, oh God forbid,
- 21:40Speaker 1: the head coach has some input in the offense. Left
- 21:43Speaker 1: which was that upset. He had an opportunity to leave
- 21:45Speaker 1: and he didn't. Right there, you go. Yeah, you know,
- 21:47Speaker 1: so I'm I'm a little dubious too about that report,
- 21:51Speaker 1: he too, Freddie. Yeah, but I think there's some other
- 21:53Speaker 1: stuff there. And that doesn't mean that Brady does see
- 21:57Speaker 1: eye to eye with Arians and everything. I mean that
- 22:00Speaker 1: they could butt heads. You know, Arian's a little bit
- 22:03Speaker 1: loosey goosey, and Brady wants, you know, things tight knit.
- 22:06Speaker 1: And you know, Kyle Shannon that could that could probably
- 22:09Speaker 1: work too. I mean, but you know, how does Tom
- 22:11Speaker 1: Brady want to be his own offensive coordinator? Does he?
- 22:14Speaker 1: You know, I don't know at this stage, like what
- 22:16Speaker 1: he what he wants, but they got the pieces there.
- 22:18Speaker 1: I just think it's gonna be the opportunity that's going
- 22:20Speaker 1: all of a sudden, Well, crap, we need a quarterback
- 22:23Speaker 1: and it's gonna be kind of But if not San
- 22:24Speaker 1: Francisco and Tampa Bay, Oh yeah, rapes. That's another one
- 22:29Speaker 1: that I think is is a possibility that one was
- 22:31Speaker 1: more complicated boys back together, that one's more complicated money wise,
- 22:35Speaker 1: but he could work. But a good team some weapons.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Quarterback goes down and if Tampa ends up trading him,
- 22:44Speaker 1: I think he's only on the books for like ten
- 22:46Speaker 1: ten and a half million this year. Okay, the way
- 22:48Speaker 1: the contract is, so you could you could do it?
- 22:51Speaker 1: Yeah you wanted to? Yeah, all right, So that's all
- 22:54Speaker 1: out on the table. Uh. You know, we touched on
- 22:58Speaker 1: the concern of Patriots person an l The league year
- 23:01Speaker 1: opens what date, the sixteenth, the sixteenth of March, and
- 23:05Speaker 1: today is the first day of the two week franchise
- 23:09Speaker 1: tag window. Ye, but don't expect if the Patriots hold
- 23:14Speaker 1: to form, don't expect them to do anything until the
- 23:16Speaker 1: very end, if at all. Yeah. And do you think
- 23:18Speaker 1: they will with J. C. Jackson in particular, I don't.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I don't. I kind of don't either. I don't. I
- 23:24Speaker 1: just think it's going to be too expensive and they
- 23:26Speaker 1: got too many other things to deal with. Ye. I
- 23:29Speaker 1: saw one of those I think spot Track or one
- 23:33Speaker 1: of those U sources had four years seventy two million,
- 23:37Speaker 1: which is about what his projection, yeah, projected contract for
- 23:41Speaker 1: him eighteen million a year. I think you're looking between
- 23:45Speaker 1: seventeen and twenty one. The franchise would be in seventeen ish, right,
- 23:49Speaker 1: franchise tag would be about seven cornerbacks. Yeah, so that's
- 23:53Speaker 1: about right. I just I think he's a good player.
- 23:56Speaker 1: I don't know, but he's not a guy that changes
- 23:59Speaker 1: your defense at least at this point. But you know,
- 24:03Speaker 1: a cornerback at his level, that's probably what the market is.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Oh No, he's definitely. I'm not unwilling to resign him
- 24:11Speaker 1: to that number. I don't I'm with Mike. I don't
- 24:14Speaker 1: know if he's a guy I want to give the
- 24:16Speaker 1: money too. Yeah, not because of his play, yeah, per se,
- 24:21Speaker 1: I'm a little worried about him being a guy that
- 24:23Speaker 1: hasn't really made that serious money, and I think there's
- 24:26Speaker 1: a little worry about him and how he'd handle it.
- 24:28Speaker 1: It's probably worried about most guys. A lot of worry
- 24:31Speaker 1: coming into this season of wor who was better him
- 24:35Speaker 1: or or Malcolm Butler. I think Jackson's a little by
- 24:40Speaker 1: the only thing is that he has better hands. Yeah,
- 24:44Speaker 1: like I think Malcolm Butler was. He didn't play, he
- 24:47Speaker 1: dropped a lot, he didn't have the sticky hands that
- 24:50Speaker 1: jac Jackson has and that's huge. Like it's one thing
- 24:54Speaker 1: to knock a pass away. Now you got to defend
- 24:56Speaker 1: you know, you know, potentially one or two more players.
- 24:59Speaker 1: You get the pay, can you know the turnovers there
- 25:01Speaker 1: and now you have the ball. Yeah, Malcolm Butler was
- 25:04Speaker 1: really good. I think Jackson is is a little bit better.
- 25:07Speaker 1: And Butler's a free agent. That's a strange that's a
- 25:11Speaker 1: strange thing. Yeah, come back, it sounds like, or come
- 25:13Speaker 1: back to the NFL. I don't know what the personal
- 25:15Speaker 1: thing was, um that caused him to retire. It was
- 25:18Speaker 1: a surprise thing for the Cardinals. Yeah, he never actually
- 25:22Speaker 1: played for them, man, right, because his rights there, trade
- 25:26Speaker 1: his rights to him maybe and then and then and
- 25:28Speaker 1: then he never played. Well, I was a surprise announcement
- 25:31Speaker 1: in the summer. I guess he was playing reasonably well
- 25:34Speaker 1: and they were happy with him, and then he just
- 25:36Speaker 1: decided to step away. Well it's interesting. I mean everybody's
- 25:42Speaker 1: saying that he's it's this was not just a procedural thing.
- 25:46Speaker 1: He plans on trying to come back, Okay, so I'll
- 25:50Speaker 1: be interesting to see where he ends up. Yeah, any
- 25:53Speaker 1: chance back here? I wouldn't. I wouldn't. I don't think
- 25:56Speaker 1: I wouldn't think so. No, not, not with the current
- 26:00Speaker 1: coaching situation. Yeah, I don't think so. All right, eight
- 26:04Speaker 1: five five five hundred is the eight stick at outline
- 26:06Speaker 1: web radio at Patriots dot com is the email address. Um,
- 26:11Speaker 1: I guess we'll get right to our listeners, right you know? Yeah, yeah,
- 26:16Speaker 1: I'm sure we're forgetting something that's been going on, but
- 26:19Speaker 1: our listening to six minute preamble, Yeah, our listeners will
- 26:22Speaker 1: remind us. Uh, let's start with Rashad from Baltimore. What's
- 26:26Speaker 1: up for shot? What's up? What's up? Hey? Um? So,
- 26:31Speaker 1: so this morning I was reading I guess the PF
- 26:33Speaker 1: after they dropped a little fifty U fifty man prediction,
- 26:37Speaker 1: like for the free agent, they had three people for
- 26:40Speaker 1: the Patriots. They had J. C. Jackson at the four
- 26:44Speaker 1: year seventy two millions. Then they had Juju for one year,
- 26:48Speaker 1: eight million, six guaranteed. Then they had the cornerback for
- 26:53Speaker 1: the chiefs um to various ward what um three years
- 26:58Speaker 1: thirty four million? Okay, so they had jac this is PFF. Now, yeah,
- 27:05Speaker 1: has the Patriots signing him four year seventy two him? Yeah,
- 27:10Speaker 1: signing him. That would I'm not gonna lie. I would
- 27:13Speaker 1: be stunt. I'm not a fan of J. C. Jackson.
- 27:15Speaker 1: I mean, I don't think they should pay it. I
- 27:18Speaker 1: just don't like I don't think he pushed it the
- 27:20Speaker 1: needle and not worth the money. I think Juju Smith
- 27:24Speaker 1: Schuster will get a lot more than that. Well, a
- 27:27Speaker 1: lot of people are are pinning him with the Patriots.
- 27:30Speaker 1: I've seen that a lot of people think he's going
- 27:31Speaker 1: to sign a one year deal with the Patriots. I
- 27:33Speaker 1: think that would be insane for him. Yeah, what's in
- 27:36Speaker 1: it for him? He needs to rehab his his so
- 27:38Speaker 1: if he doesn't get you know, say the fifteen million
- 27:42Speaker 1: annually that a guy of his caliber probably would command.
- 27:45Speaker 1: So he's gonna take one year to rehab his image
- 27:48Speaker 1: and he's gonna go to the Patriots. Well, here he'd
- 27:50Speaker 1: be the number one Yeah, and what is that, Well,
- 27:53Speaker 1: the guy that gets the most targets. But and with
- 27:56Speaker 1: Matt Jones throwing the ball and no offensive coordinator, not
- 28:00Speaker 1: a good choice. Well, I don't. I don't know about
- 28:02Speaker 1: a good choice. I say I think it might be.
- 28:04Speaker 1: I think it might be the perfect place for him.
- 28:06Speaker 1: I think it would be I think it would be
- 28:07Speaker 1: like twenty five out of thirty two options. If you
- 28:10Speaker 1: were going to sign a one year deal, that would
- 28:13Speaker 1: be about twenty fifth on the list to me. Now,
- 28:16Speaker 1: if he signed, if the Patriots want to give him
- 28:18Speaker 1: a four year deal worth you know, like fifty five million,
- 28:21Speaker 1: by all means you take from him, You take, yeah,
- 28:24Speaker 1: you take the money. Yeah, but that's not a good
- 28:27Speaker 1: way to get back on the open market. One more thing, um,
- 28:31Speaker 1: I guess it was one point five yesterday. I hadn't
- 28:36Speaker 1: seen any reports, but they said Mike Reef was speculating
- 28:40Speaker 1: that the Patriots could cut three people, Shack Mason, to
- 28:43Speaker 1: kill Harry and Jewarn Williams. I'm fine with cutting Harry
- 28:48Speaker 1: and Juwan, but I think Shack Mason, I think cutting
- 28:52Speaker 1: them that would be that would be a big mistake.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Even with the ten million in cab, I think you
- 28:57Speaker 1: still have to he's a good player. He's a good player,
- 29:00Speaker 1: but um, he's getting up there, and what are they
- 29:02Speaker 1: gonna do with that money? If they do something with
- 29:05Speaker 1: that money, you'd have to resign one of those other
- 29:07Speaker 1: free agents like Harris or or Trent Brown. Yea, I
- 29:13Speaker 1: would not be in favor of that move because I
- 29:15Speaker 1: think Mason's better than those two guys. That's our best
- 29:17Speaker 1: offensive linement. Well, I try to redo them and just extend.
- 29:21Speaker 1: That's a very common cut, is check because of the money.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, but why why cut I know where everybody
- 29:29Speaker 1: hates Harry and Williams, but why cut them like they're
- 29:30Speaker 1: on rookie deals? Let them come back to camp. I mean,
- 29:32Speaker 1: if you want to trade him, that's fine, but it
- 29:34Speaker 1: just seems like you're you're you're cutting depth pointlessly. Don't
- 29:38Speaker 1: get to camp. They're already under rookie deals. It's not
- 29:40Speaker 1: like you're over extending yourself. I mean, I don't know,
- 29:42Speaker 1: it's just not like them to be like, you know,
- 29:44Speaker 1: we're done with them. Just cut them like it then
- 29:45Speaker 1: get something for him. Fine, but yeah, all right, thanks
- 29:49Speaker 1: for Sean, Thanks for calling in. Uh Chris with a
- 29:52Speaker 1: T I A N. What's up Christian? Hey guys, I
- 29:56Speaker 1: just wanted to talk about J. C. Jackson, Okay, and um,
- 30:00Speaker 1: I'm really not psyched about the eyes there about him
- 30:04Speaker 1: being enfranchised, primarily because once Gilmore left and correct me
- 30:09Speaker 1: if I'm wrong, they basically had to change the defense
- 30:12Speaker 1: from a man to a zone. Right. Well, they played more,
- 30:16Speaker 1: they played more zone than they have been He's true,
- 30:19Speaker 1: that's true. I don't know if it was a cause
- 30:21Speaker 1: and effect or what, but they definitely played on his
- 30:23Speaker 1: zone the second half of the year, especially after Jones
- 30:27Speaker 1: went down too. Jonathan Jones, Yeah, it might have been.
- 30:30Speaker 1: That might have been the last reason because Gilmore didn't play.
- 30:36Speaker 1: And I just think, you know, he's not in that
- 30:39Speaker 1: He's not in that class of like uh talib um
- 30:45Speaker 1: law reeve. It's like not, you know, he's obviously he's
- 30:49Speaker 1: not a Hall of Famer, right, he's not. He's not
- 30:52Speaker 1: a number one. He's not that caliber of a number
- 30:55Speaker 1: one corner. He's the Patriot's number one corner. I agree, right,
- 30:59Speaker 1: And I don't. I don't. I just can't see Bill
- 31:02Speaker 1: investing that much money in a guy. I mean, at
- 31:05Speaker 1: most I can see him tagging him and then trading him. Um,
- 31:08Speaker 1: that's obviously a lot easier, because I mean, that's that's
- 31:11Speaker 1: a tough thing to do when you really see that.
- 31:13Speaker 1: But I mean, what would you guys do right now,
- 31:16Speaker 1: like today, like you're running the team. Do you tag
- 31:19Speaker 1: him in two weeks or do you just you know,
- 31:22Speaker 1: explore other options as far as training. I mean ideally,
- 31:24Speaker 1: see I'm doing it, and I'm thinking along the lines
- 31:27Speaker 1: of like, the team is a good two years away
- 31:29Speaker 1: from being with the Buffalo's in the Kansas City, So
- 31:32Speaker 1: I'm willing to draft a guy, develop them, take time,
- 31:35Speaker 1: and get him in the system. That's where I'm coming
- 31:38Speaker 1: from and thinking thinking on it, I suppose I would
- 31:41Speaker 1: tag him in the hopes of trying to trade him
- 31:45Speaker 1: because I don't think you can afford him. Yeah, I
- 31:48Speaker 1: think that would tag lea. I think that would tag
- 31:50Speaker 1: him in if I you know, if I had to
- 31:52Speaker 1: play him under the franchise tag, I'd be okay with that.
- 31:55Speaker 1: And you can always rescind the tag before you know,
- 31:58Speaker 1: there's a certain amount of time to deal. Yeah, if
- 32:00Speaker 1: there's there's certain amount of time where you where you
- 32:02Speaker 1: can't if you can't get it done, I just I'm
- 32:03Speaker 1: not really interested in one year Jacy Jackson, I don't
- 32:05Speaker 1: know what that really gets you. I'd rather move on
- 32:08Speaker 1: use that money too. That's why I'd like to try
- 32:10Speaker 1: to look to trade him. If you could get him
- 32:11Speaker 1: on a long term deal and you could figure out
- 32:13Speaker 1: a way to play ball with them, might take him.
- 32:14Speaker 1: But I think they need too much. I think I'd
- 32:16Speaker 1: rather invest that money in the front seven and you know,
- 32:19Speaker 1: try to rebuild the cornerback position from the from the
- 32:23Speaker 1: back to the front seven. And I like him, you're back.
- 32:26Speaker 1: I always go back to it. Tried to leave and
- 32:27Speaker 1: then keep pulling it back in. But I but I
- 32:31Speaker 1: always really by the way, he was a walker segand
- 32:35Speaker 1: the last person they take, the last guy that they tagged. Yeah,
- 32:39Speaker 1: I don't remember, Joe, Joe Tooty, I don't remember. Yeah right,
- 32:43Speaker 1: I'll advise. Yeah, well two years ago. Yeah that's pretty good. Yeah,
- 32:53Speaker 1: it was longer than a year ago, so that's why
- 32:55Speaker 1: out of my window. But but I do think, like
- 32:57Speaker 1: I brought this up a couple weeks ago, I do
- 32:59Speaker 1: think it's everybody you bring it up, says, oh they
- 33:00Speaker 1: love these man press corners, And every mock draft you
- 33:03Speaker 1: read is, oh, here's a man press corner. Like you know,
- 33:05Speaker 1: what if they don't what if they don't do that
- 33:06Speaker 1: as much anymore? What if they kind of adjust his zone.
- 33:08Speaker 1: It's a little easier to find cornerbacks, and you know,
- 33:11Speaker 1: you you target more physical guys who can tackle Josh
- 33:14Speaker 1: Allen and set a hard edge than you know, guys
- 33:16Speaker 1: like Gilmore and trying to find those unicorns who can
- 33:19Speaker 1: follow a guy all over the field. You know, I
- 33:21Speaker 1: don't think that's why. I don't think Jackson's really that
- 33:24Speaker 1: guy anyway, So it all kind of goes hand and
- 33:26Speaker 1: handled why they if they simply let Jackson walk, is
- 33:30Speaker 1: that a sign that you know, we're only going to
- 33:33Speaker 1: be able to do so much this year. I think
- 33:35Speaker 1: they're only gonna be able to do so much to
- 33:37Speaker 1: me anyway. But yeah, I mean in terms of winning,
- 33:40Speaker 1: m oh, I don't think that they would make such
- 33:44Speaker 1: an admission, like why why would you go in? Not
- 33:47Speaker 1: they can? Then they can win more than ten like
- 33:48Speaker 1: they one life well like like Duke says, they need
- 33:50Speaker 1: so much, right, yeah, they do, and they've got something
- 33:55Speaker 1: in Jackson like, and they're willing to just let them
- 33:58Speaker 1: go and we're gonna just start scrap. Well, that's that's
- 34:00Speaker 1: why I'd want to tag him only in the hopes
- 34:03Speaker 1: of trading forms so you could get something in the
- 34:05Speaker 1: way of resources, whether it's picks or because you only
- 34:08Speaker 1: have those six picks and it's not like they're all
- 34:11Speaker 1: high picks. They're right, you know, I'll tell you what
- 34:14Speaker 1: to be prepared for what stop it, Paul, keep your mouth.
- 34:18Speaker 1: I know what they're doing with the twenty fi doubt
- 34:22Speaker 1: Quantity traded the number twenty one pick for it's possible
- 34:28Speaker 1: number thirty four and two seventeen. Yeah, now that I
- 34:32Speaker 1: think there's a good chance they'll trade down. Um. Combination
- 34:36Speaker 1: of the lack of picks and everybody talking about this
- 34:40Speaker 1: draft in terms of, you know, it's it's a good draft,
- 34:44Speaker 1: but it's not a high end talent. It's you know,
- 34:48Speaker 1: a lot of good players from like say fifteen to
- 34:52Speaker 1: fifty five. Yeah, And that to me screams Bill's gonna
- 34:56Speaker 1: try to get more extra picks between those the numbers. Yeah.
- 35:00Speaker 1: But then so you know, but so is everybody else.
- 35:04Speaker 1: You know, Like, just because you want to do that
- 35:06Speaker 1: doesn't mean you're gonna be able to. And the thing
- 35:08Speaker 1: that works against you is when you want when you're
- 35:11Speaker 1: at twenty one, you need someone to be eyeing a player, right,
- 35:15Speaker 1: and the quarterbacks are not guys that you like, Yeah,
- 35:19Speaker 1: like would you trade up for Kenny Pickett at twenty
- 35:21Speaker 1: one or whoever you know quarterback? I think anyone. I
- 35:24Speaker 1: think he's a real good point, Paul, And I think
- 35:26Speaker 1: you know a lot of the monks I see are
- 35:27Speaker 1: Pittsburgh in that area around twenty like teams that need guys,
- 35:31Speaker 1: So like I would just sit there and maybe Kenny
- 35:33Speaker 1: Picket falls to me at twenty something, I'll take him. Yeah,
- 35:36Speaker 1: but I'm not gonna exactly, I'm not gonna go out
- 35:39Speaker 1: of my way to get that guy. Take them. Yeah. Uh,
- 35:45Speaker 1: let's make Fidels in Florida. What's up Fidel and stuff?
- 35:50Speaker 1: Hey you guys, how are you guys doing? Good? Good?
- 35:54Speaker 1: I have a two quick cool story, handful moment um.
- 35:58Speaker 1: It's okay, memorials not a damn all right. Well one
- 36:04Speaker 1: is I've been listening to you guys probably since the
- 36:07Speaker 1: twenty twenty eleventh seasons. That was when I was like
- 36:10Speaker 1: thirteen years old. Wow. And uh, since then, I've I
- 36:16Speaker 1: used to weigh like four hundred pounds. I was played
- 36:19Speaker 1: football and I tore my knees so I can cleany more,
- 36:23Speaker 1: so I catch all that weight. And since then, I've
- 36:25Speaker 1: lost like two hundred pounds. And I actually just got
- 36:29Speaker 1: recovery from a loose skin surgery, so they got all
- 36:31Speaker 1: that loose skin taken off. How you feel happy? And
- 36:35Speaker 1: I listen to you guys. Every time I'm in the gym,
- 36:38Speaker 1: I looked like a limatic because I'm laughing. My laughing
- 36:42Speaker 1: almost curse. Say that's okay, awesome, okay, limatic. So I
- 36:50Speaker 1: want to thank you guys. You guys always have been
- 36:52Speaker 1: in making laugh and change whatever I think of the Patriots.
- 36:55Speaker 1: I love that. Well, thank you congratulation. This thing was um.
- 37:00Speaker 1: I've called him a little bit more recently over the
- 37:02Speaker 1: past few months, and I told you some funny stories
- 37:05Speaker 1: about how I sell furniture its like Patriots players. I
- 37:08Speaker 1: met Hie Law again and Um, I was actually playing
- 37:14Speaker 1: Madden and Christian Barmore hit me up to play Madden,
- 37:19Speaker 1: and I'm like, okay, So I just start playing Madden
- 37:23Speaker 1: with Christian for the last like a few months. And
- 37:26Speaker 1: he's a He's a cheater. He uses the same plays
- 37:30Speaker 1: over and over again. Took a turn certainly, always goes
- 37:33Speaker 1: for it, and fork down. He never pumps, he always
- 37:36Speaker 1: goes for two. He's a cheater. Why is that cheating?
- 37:41Speaker 1: Sounds like Brandon st Because you respecting someone who stops
- 37:44Speaker 1: someone on third down, then then take advantage of that.
- 37:52Speaker 1: For every time there's a certain mutual respect, you're supposed
- 37:56Speaker 1: to have respect for the game exactly, Thank you, thank you. Yeah.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Does he play with himself? Wow, that's a personal question.
- 38:07Speaker 1: What did you say, Deuce wants to know if he
- 38:09Speaker 1: plays with himself. Oh, that's that's that's cool. I thought
- 38:15Speaker 1: when he plays against you, that's what I meant. He
- 38:17Speaker 1: plays he he used to play as the h Ravens,
- 38:22Speaker 1: but he plays the Patriots last few times. Um, and
- 38:25Speaker 1: he always plays himself. He doesn't play anyone else but
- 38:27Speaker 1: himself or Gela Mills. So that's something if you want
- 38:31Speaker 1: to learn interesting. Okay, this is good, this is I'm
- 38:35Speaker 1: I'm a little curious about how how this guy decided
- 38:38Speaker 1: to hit you up to play Madden? Like, how does
- 38:41Speaker 1: that work? He went on. He went on Instagram live
- 38:44Speaker 1: like last year during the off season, saying, oh, doesn't
- 38:46Speaker 1: want to play Madden. I'm like, all right, I'll play
- 38:48Speaker 1: Madden with you. And he's like okay, and then he
- 38:50Speaker 1: just hit me up like, oh want to play Madden again?
- 38:51Speaker 1: And he just hit me up and so he put
- 38:53Speaker 1: out he put out an open call to fans anybody
- 38:56Speaker 1: wanted to play a year ago and then he re
- 38:58Speaker 1: we re played again, got you and this time this
- 39:02Speaker 1: was like a few last week. So I asked him, Hey,
- 39:05Speaker 1: you know, when I was watching that last game the season,
- 39:07Speaker 1: you went down and I was like, scared you tore
- 39:09Speaker 1: your atl or something, and like you play that next game.
- 39:12Speaker 1: I thought it was interested you to like probably even
- 39:14Speaker 1: next year even And he's like, oh no, no. I
- 39:16Speaker 1: was like, you know, playing hurt that whole game that season,
- 39:19Speaker 1: and you know it was just an overreaction. I was
- 39:21Speaker 1: like scared and it was all the adrenalments. So I'm like, oh, okay,
- 39:24Speaker 1: so so how are you doing on this season? He's
- 39:27Speaker 1: gonna be totally on track? So great good news. If
- 39:29Speaker 1: you want to good stuff, hey play Madden against more
- 39:33Speaker 1: of these players and then report back to what right
- 39:35Speaker 1: we need to info? Well, do absolutely scot report? All right,
- 39:39Speaker 1: thanks Fordell. I'm bum Paul missed that that part though.
- 39:42Speaker 1: He always fidel the sales right getting inside. Yeah, that's
- 39:47Speaker 1: so funny. You always goes fort and fourth downs. I
- 39:50Speaker 1: mean as a Madden player, I know how annoying that
- 39:51Speaker 1: could be. But but Paul always talks about Barmow's reaction
- 39:54Speaker 1: when he was hurt. I mean I think the same thing.
- 39:55Speaker 1: I thought that was it? Right? Oh yeah, he looked like, yeah,
- 39:58Speaker 1: but I believe Fidel did he say he was said
- 40:00Speaker 1: that he was playing hurt the whole year? Yeah, yeah,
- 40:03Speaker 1: so yeah, interesting, well time for rookies. Yeah, but good
- 40:08Speaker 1: for him for playing through it, you know, yeah and
- 40:11Speaker 1: getting that season under his belt, you know, second year
- 40:14Speaker 1: for Barmore. I mean, talk about pieces to be excited
- 40:18Speaker 1: about it, and I think everyone wants to talk about Mac,
- 40:20Speaker 1: but you know, having him and maybe trying to find
- 40:22Speaker 1: a compliment to him long term and hopefully those veteran
- 40:25Speaker 1: guys can bounce back. I mean, I wrote the defensive
- 40:28Speaker 1: defensive line free agency previews, so I mean it's just
- 40:31Speaker 1: Carl Davis. You've got all those guys you signed last
- 40:34Speaker 1: year coming back. So hopefully Barmore can Paul just left
- 40:38Speaker 1: to see like, yeah, maybe a nature call, Oh yeah,
- 40:41Speaker 1: was it urgent? Well, I don't know. It wasn't like
- 40:43Speaker 1: in the past where we've seen him see hunting for
- 40:45Speaker 1: a diapepsi. That might be possible too, It could be
- 40:49Speaker 1: all right. Uh. Web radio at Patriots dot com is
- 40:53Speaker 1: the email addressing. By the way, Matt Morrel's in Disney World.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Look like he saw that picture of him really got
- 40:59Speaker 1: a haircut, trimmed. His beard really looked better there than
- 41:02Speaker 1: he does when he comes to work, like got all
- 41:05Speaker 1: gussied up for Disney World Stars Glove. So Matis is
- 41:09Speaker 1: in the production room putting the show up today. Thanks
- 41:12Speaker 1: Matise for filling in. He doesn't have the cool story
- 41:16Speaker 1: hancel button though, So No, I did see Matt smile.
- 41:21Speaker 1: Did you happen to see that picture recent? Yeah? With
- 41:23Speaker 1: his daughter? Yeah, Yeah, it was a great picture. He
- 41:25Speaker 1: was smiling. Yeah. I don't remember the last time I
- 41:28Speaker 1: saw that. I'm just gonna get him out of here,
- 41:31Speaker 1: I guess. M Brian and New Hampshire writes in at
- 41:34Speaker 1: web Radio at pictures dot com. Cap related question I've
- 41:37Speaker 1: heard mentioned multiple times on the show in the past
- 41:40Speaker 1: few months, mostly by Paul, that the cap is crap
- 41:43Speaker 1: but money isn't, which is a phrase I've never heard before.
- 41:46Speaker 1: Can you please explain this a little more. If the
- 41:48Speaker 1: cap is a set dollar amount, the money spent wouldn't
- 41:51Speaker 1: exceed that number, right. I agree with the cap is
- 41:53Speaker 1: crap part, I just don't understand the difference. Paul explained, Well,
- 41:58Speaker 1: because there's a lot of situation. Since where guys are
- 42:01Speaker 1: their cap numbers are bigger than their actual salary, first
- 42:05Speaker 1: of all. But my point is not necessarily about the
- 42:09Speaker 1: dollar for dollar with the salary cap. My point is
- 42:13Speaker 1: when you give guys, you know, big signing bonuses like
- 42:19Speaker 1: they did last year for a handful of guys that
- 42:23Speaker 1: cost you money immediately out of your pocket. That's not
- 42:26Speaker 1: costing you cap dollars cash flow. That's cash flow. Yea.
- 42:29Speaker 1: The actual cash spent to me is not garbage. Every
- 42:35Speaker 1: team has a budget. Every business that you ever say that,
- 42:38Speaker 1: everybody has a budget. So Robert Kraft, I don't know
- 42:43Speaker 1: what the budget is, but is certainly you know, smart
- 42:49Speaker 1: to say, well I did that last year. I can't
- 42:52Speaker 1: do that every year. I'm not gonna you know, blow
- 42:56Speaker 1: the free agent budget of the out of the water
- 42:59Speaker 1: every single year. Ye That's why I say it's unlikely
- 43:02Speaker 1: that they make major signings two years in a row
- 43:05Speaker 1: in free agency. I think they'll add some free agents
- 43:08Speaker 1: and they might be able to get some good players
- 43:10Speaker 1: on some you know, mid level deals. Juju Smith Schuster
- 43:13Speaker 1: could be one of them. If you get a one
- 43:14Speaker 1: year deal for eight million, I would take that for him. Yeah,
- 43:17Speaker 1: I don't know if I would do I would do
- 43:18Speaker 1: that um, I would. I would definitely be interested in that.
- 43:22Speaker 1: If he's healthy, I would take him for a year
- 43:23Speaker 1: at eight million. Sure. But the cap, you can just like,
- 43:30Speaker 1: look at the money they spent last year. It didn't
- 43:33Speaker 1: all go on the cap. It's there's a lot of
- 43:35Speaker 1: signing bonuses. Like you look at all of those guys
- 43:38Speaker 1: that their numbers go up this year. That's what I'm
- 43:40Speaker 1: talking about in terms of what they're going to count
- 43:42Speaker 1: on the cap. But that's why I think you the
- 43:46Speaker 1: cap is kind of you know, crap is strong, I
- 43:49Speaker 1: would admit, but the camp is like an annoyance at best.
- 43:54Speaker 1: The Patriots can spend what they want in free agency
- 43:57Speaker 1: this year, they won't because you can't do that everything.
- 44:02Speaker 1: It's not the way to build the caps. Like a
- 44:04Speaker 1: rubber band, it has its limits, but it can be stretched. Yeah,
- 44:07Speaker 1: And that's and I think that's the point. Like like
- 44:09Speaker 1: even mcguel, you know, I saw him posting like last night,
- 44:13Speaker 1: he's like, they have to open some space up, but
- 44:15Speaker 1: it's not that big a deal. Like he's like, I
- 44:17Speaker 1: can tell you right now they could open up fifty million.
- 44:21Speaker 1: And that's Miguel, Like he loves the cap and he
- 44:25Speaker 1: loves the nuance of these financial transactions, and he's I
- 44:29Speaker 1: saw like several tweets that he's had over the last
- 44:32Speaker 1: several days with minor little things that you can do
- 44:36Speaker 1: x Y and z S mattootons, you know, from signing
- 44:38Speaker 1: bonus to whatever, like work up like and all of
- 44:41Speaker 1: a sudden you can get you know, any amount of
- 44:43Speaker 1: cat space that you want. But that costs money. Yeah, right,
- 44:46Speaker 1: he got money. The money is real with you negotiations,
- 44:49Speaker 1: if you're going to renegotiate guys. I mean, it does
- 44:51Speaker 1: take some work, but yeah, I think people get married
- 44:54Speaker 1: to like, well, this is the cap number, this is
- 44:56Speaker 1: what it is. We have to work within this framework.
- 44:59Speaker 1: And it's a hard fast and it's not there's there's
- 45:01Speaker 1: loose I mean, I just but I agree with paulse
- 45:03Speaker 1: general point. It's it's not going to be last year.
- 45:05Speaker 1: They got they have they they have other things they
- 45:08Speaker 1: got to address. This year. They did a lot of
- 45:09Speaker 1: well it's not gonna be last year. Let's just say
- 45:11Speaker 1: that the Patriots did have money to spend this year
- 45:15Speaker 1: like they did last year. Other teams will too, Like
- 45:18Speaker 1: last year they kind of cornered the market, you know, Um,
- 45:23Speaker 1: the two tight ends. I mean, you thought you might
- 45:25Speaker 1: get one and you got both of them. I mean,
- 45:26Speaker 1: the thought that was like the classic example, right, let's
- 45:29Speaker 1: just get them all, sign him, signed everybody, um Bill
- 45:32Speaker 1: and DC. Mike Rea said in his column that the
- 45:35Speaker 1: three biggest needs for the Patriots were inside linebacker, cornerback,
- 45:38Speaker 1: and high upside receiver. Since there are three ways to
- 45:42Speaker 1: acquire players trade, draft, and free agency, can each of
- 45:45Speaker 1: you list what you think is the most likely way
- 45:47Speaker 1: to fill each position. My guests would be receiver via
- 45:51Speaker 1: free agency supplemented by the draft, cornerback through a trade
- 45:55Speaker 1: like they did with Gilmore in linebacker through the draft.
- 46:00Speaker 1: I mean, I mean, I hate to say draft for
- 46:02Speaker 1: all three, but I mean I really would love if
- 46:04Speaker 1: they're going to get a receiver. I'd love to get
- 46:06Speaker 1: a guy that's going to be here for four years
- 46:08Speaker 1: on a rookie deal, that can grow and have some opportunity.
- 46:11Speaker 1: You know, you just I mean, you saw a couple
- 46:13Speaker 1: of free agent receivers come in last year and Kendrick
- 46:15Speaker 1: Borne did pretty well. Nelson Agilo was Okay, it's no guarantee.
- 46:19Speaker 1: I just I'd rather get that young Lively legs unknown
- 46:22Speaker 1: quantity that. Okay, let's do it a different way. Let's
- 46:25Speaker 1: take these three positions. Linebacker, cornerback, high upside receiver. You
- 46:29Speaker 1: have to get one of each that will contribute this year.
- 46:33Speaker 1: How do you get each of those players? Cool? Uh?
- 46:38Speaker 1: I think so? Yeah? Give me a trade, free agent
- 46:42Speaker 1: or draft right linebacker, receiver, what else? High upside receiver,
- 46:46Speaker 1: receiver in cornerback, corner in the draft, linebacker in free agency,
- 46:53Speaker 1: and wide receiver in the draft. Can I do both? So? Yeah? Sure? Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 47:00Speaker 1: I I mean I probably I'd probably go cornerback for
- 47:03Speaker 1: free agency draft the other two try to find. You know,
- 47:06Speaker 1: I just think it's I think that that's the most
- 47:08Speaker 1: expensive thing in free agency. Yeah, that's why I picked
- 47:10Speaker 1: to the draft. Would you use your twenty first pick
- 47:14Speaker 1: in a trade to get a known commodity? Depends? Yes,
- 47:20Speaker 1: I would consider it. Would you give it like they
- 47:22Speaker 1: did with Brandon Cooks for example? Yeah, yeah, I could
- 47:26Speaker 1: do something like that. I would do that. Yeah, if
- 47:28Speaker 1: they're here for a bit. You know, I just I
- 47:30Speaker 1: think everything all my answers go through, is it going
- 47:33Speaker 1: to help two three years down the road? Right? You
- 47:37Speaker 1: want somebody that will grow with mac? Right? Right. But
- 47:40Speaker 1: that's logical because I think Mike looks at it is
- 47:43Speaker 1: they're a good team right now, but they're not great. Yeah,
- 47:46Speaker 1: just does a corner make you great? But you had
- 47:48Speaker 1: the corner, you're probably gonna lose it and you weren't great.
- 47:51Speaker 1: So that's the part of this equation that I think
- 47:55Speaker 1: some people are missing. Yeah, with all the free agents
- 47:57Speaker 1: that you have, everybody admits that they won't all be back, right,
- 48:01Speaker 1: but they still think that, well, you know, they're building.
- 48:05Speaker 1: That's the other thing. That's another thing that I've been
- 48:07Speaker 1: thinking about lately. You know, Judon's uh not Judon, John
- 48:14Speaker 1: O Smith no good. You know, Aghalore was a big
- 48:17Speaker 1: disappointment when they signed all these guys. I remember on
- 48:22Speaker 1: this show saying the odds are they're not all going
- 48:26Speaker 1: to work out, right, right, Yeah, yeah, I remember that.
- 48:30Speaker 1: But now it's a surprise that two of them, well
- 48:33Speaker 1: I don't yeah, okay, right right. I think they did
- 48:39Speaker 1: pretty well with the draft, with the free agents that
- 48:43Speaker 1: that you know that what they do, I do too.
- 48:46Speaker 1: I just think people's expectations. People's expectations were I think
- 48:50Speaker 1: over inflated with the amount of recognizable names that they
- 48:55Speaker 1: Oh yeah, but but we said on this show, but
- 48:57Speaker 1: the chances are they're not all going to work right,
- 49:00Speaker 1: But people aren't listening to that. All they're seeing they
- 49:02Speaker 1: should be, but they're not. I know, I know they
- 49:06Speaker 1: should be, but they don't. All they think. All they
- 49:08Speaker 1: think is, oh, that's the name, I recognize him. He
- 49:10Speaker 1: should be good. You paid him a lot of money,
- 49:12Speaker 1: he should be good. Right. They don't listen to the
- 49:14Speaker 1: facts that you know, chances are half of them are
- 49:16Speaker 1: going to work out. And it's not like they haven't
- 49:19Speaker 1: worked out either, Like I would argue that, Okay, Jono
- 49:22Speaker 1: Smith didn't put up you know, Travis Kelsey type numbers.
- 49:26Speaker 1: He wasn't expecting to. If you expected him to do that,
- 49:29Speaker 1: you were you know, you were deluding yourself. Nelson Agiloor
- 49:32Speaker 1: was what Nelson Agolore typically is, Yeah, except he didn't
- 49:35Speaker 1: make as many big plays like he usually mixes in
- 49:38Speaker 1: some big plays. And he made a couple of a
- 49:40Speaker 1: couple of long downfield catches, but not nearly as many
- 49:43Speaker 1: as I think if you just picked it like worked out,
- 49:45Speaker 1: didn't work out, like no nuance, yeah, I think you'd
- 49:49Speaker 1: be disappointed. Yeah, because I would say that Jonah Smith
- 49:52Speaker 1: didn't work out. Nelson Agolo didn't work out, Jalen Mills
- 49:55Speaker 1: didn't work out. I would say Davin Gotcha didn't work out.
- 49:58Speaker 1: Hunter Henry, I would say did workout. Yeah, I'd say
- 50:01Speaker 1: God Show was over. Matt Judean, I would say, did workout. Yeah,
- 50:04Speaker 1: God Show was part of the worst run defense in football. Yeah,
- 50:06Speaker 1: but you brought him in to stop the run you
- 50:08Speaker 1: gave him, and he can't stop the run. He had

- 1:02:14Speaker 1: I don't think we know for sure exactly. It sounds

- 1:02:28Speaker 1: So all right, well we'll see about that. Because lengthy

- 1:02:35Speaker 1: Denver um but who knows. Yeah, a lengthy cryptic message. Um.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: During the break, we're watching the end of the Tampa
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: Bay Patriots game from this year, and um, you know,
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: with fourth and three when they decided to line up
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: and kick that field goal, Paul says they should have
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: gone for it. Well, I said that at the time
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: he did. But it's a long time ago. People. I
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: don't want you to like make it sound like, well,
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: they missed the field goal. So I think they're not
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: fifty six yard field goal driving rain store. I think
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: they had a better chance of getting three yards than
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: a fifty six yard field goal, and in addition to that,
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: I think had you made the field goal, you probably
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: still would have lost because seconds. Yeah, so interesting, But
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: I mean, at the very least, you would have had
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: to rely on the other guy missing a field goal
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: to win because they would have gotten into field goal range. Yep,
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: all right. Like I said web radio at Patriots dot
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: com five Pat's five hundred is the ace ticket outline
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: dot Chicken. Oh I didn't even see them. Oh you would,
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: you would, Eric. I can't Paul, thank you, though you can,
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: but you don't want to choose not to move that
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: away from Erica. I don't want him to get Yeah,
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: you know, I'm not gonna get an allergic reaction, Paul.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: I don't want him to get sick. Let's see. Sam
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: writes in I just wanted to thank you for an
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: awesome season. Content wise, I still enjoyed the season with
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: the team. I think we failed. Tend to have a
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: whiplash of emotions. Sometimes I get Paul's disdain for us,
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: but overall they played okay. They destroyed the teams they
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: were supposed to destroy for the most part, and they
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: got destroyed by the teams they didn't stand a chance
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: against the real question now is do we have something
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: in mac Jones that we can brag about. Yes, he
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: lacks a certain killer instinct, but the Ausschuk's attitude will fade.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: I think we may have a shark on our hands
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: and don't even know. We won't know until he goes
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: through the growing pains. Again. Appreciate y'all. And now that
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: I'm a bit closer to the East Coast, I can
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: come and visit during the summer and lunch will be
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: on me. Can you please give a shout out to
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: my wife? We just purchased our first home. Things you
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: can do when you don't live in San Diego? Yeah,
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: expensive out there. You know about San Diego, right, Oh?
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: I know all about it. Yeah, Yeah, that's a great
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: place to live, right, It's good living peaceful. Yeah. I
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: could never see myself being on the West coast, but
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: if I did, would be the place. I don't always
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: live away from these coasts, but when they do. Um
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: Bob in Wilmington, North Carolina, right, Sin, what would you
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: think about West Welker returning to the Patriots in a
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: coaching role. Is there any bad blood that might keep
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: Bill from bringing him in already has a coaching role
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: difference Miami. That's right. Yeah, went with Mike. He went
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: with Mike, Mike McDaniel mcgil So now you get to
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: see him twice a year. Yeah, yeah, No, I mean
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: it's good to be back in Foxboro in Massachusetts and
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: New England and different things like that. West Weckler uh
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: from zimbolists from Hollywood rights in your thoughts on Joe
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: Judge return meant I'm sorry your thoughts on Joe Judge
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: mentoring Mac Jones? What vast quarterback coach experience does Judge
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: have to mentor the cornerstone of the Patriots future he
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: wants put? I believe justin Bethel at the Gunners spot right,
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: they'll go, Well, there's that, No, I think it's a
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: concern I do. Yeah, to answer that question, I'm a
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: little concerned that there's not more experience working directly with
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: offensive personnel, specifically quarterback. Yeah, especially where offense is such
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: a rage right now. And I mean I know with
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: a lot of it's that you know the Shanahan Sean
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: McVeagh of at all, but it's just if it feels
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: like it's going backwards and it doesn't really feel like
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: there's a plan for Matt Jones to really take that
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: next step and succeed. They got to sell it to me.
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: They gotta tell me who's doing what, and then I
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: tell you would just work out. As much as I
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: want to believe it wasn't a good sell job, I'll
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: fall into place. Do you see what the Jags? Peterson
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: had his a press conference the other day. I was
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: talking about how he's gonna call the plays, and that
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: kind of makes sense. You know, you've got a former
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: quarterback head coach, he's won the Super Bowl. Like that
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: gives you a little bit more confidence if you're a
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: Jaguars fan and you're thinking, we've got this. You know,
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: this guy a first overall pick going into his second year.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: At least we've got somebody who knows the position and
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: is gonna, you know, be able to steward him going
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: forward for at least the next few years. You don't
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: really have that, no hit, A little bit of a guru, yeah,
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: a little bit, a little bit of an offensive guy, right, dude.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: When you start to look at the draft boards and stuff,
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: and not just like mock drafts, but the draft board,
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: do you ever get um sort of suspicious when you
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: see like, uh, three or four in a row like
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: say thirty five, thirty six, thirty seven, thirty eight or
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: all quarterbacks, did you never like take a step back
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: and like really like so you had your top fifty
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: and they were all right there in the same spot.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: They're all the same, right, I know. I think it's
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: like I look at it. I know it's area too.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: You read it like the opportunity like lazy and I
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: got these three quarterbacks and then huh and I kind
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: of like them in this order. Let's just back. I
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: was just looking at Daniel Jeremiah's top fifty. I think
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: his his big board, um, and I want to say
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: he had like Malik Willis, Sam Howell and Matt Correll
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: like all consecutive. I don't know if Pickett was in
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: there too, but I like, so you have fifty players
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: and all of those quarterbacks fell in between a defensive
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: tackle in the cornerback like perfectly. Like yeah, just find
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: that hard to believe. It's particularly all over the place
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: this year too. That's and I've seen you know a
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: little bit of what you said, Paul, but but I
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: mean I've read multiple kind of draft anialsts to say
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: that that this year, it's it's really hard. Everybody's got
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: different kind of rankings, and you know, one guy might
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: be way up the top of somebody's in another row
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: be down. So it's it's hard to know who's going
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: to be And I get that with Mox. Mox are
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: like ridiculously hard, Like you don't know what team, especially
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: this early, you don't know what teams are going to
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: be doing. But I would think that you should be
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: able to if you're a scout, you should be able
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: to watch the players every year and rank them. I'm
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: not telling you it's easy, but you should be able
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: to rank them. And again, I just find it hard
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: to believe that, like four quarterbacks were all just like
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: you can't Yeah, but I can't make a decision as
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: to which one of these guys separates themselves. So they're
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: gonna put them all in the same exact spot, right,
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: and here's kind of the order I like them in.
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: But they're all kind of this like Mayo interchanging, like Mayax.
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: Eight guys in the top five right, Ramon rights in.
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: I'm worried about Max development, he says, assuming Bill stays
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: three more years this coming season plus two, could Mac
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: develop enough to not regress when the next regime comes in. Granted,
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: it maybe good time to release Mac if he doesn't
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: pan out by the time Bill leaves. But I'd hate
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: to see Bill have to draft and develop another quarterback
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: knowing he's near the end of his road. I guess
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: it's just not sitting well with me, knowing we have
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: a new quarterback but not a coaching staff that will
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: grow long term with him. Am I worrying for nothing? U?
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: I would just say, can we not worry about like
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: when and how we're going to release Mac Jones When
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: he's entering in year two? We have a little optimism, Yeah,
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: I mean I do admit that I on this show,
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: I tend to be probably the least optimistic. I worry
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: about more things than most. But I'm not worried about
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: releasing Mac Jones. But while Bill leaves, so we could
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: have that train. Like Mac Jones is in year two
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: right now, he's the quarterback. I'll worry about, you know
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: what happens between year four and year five when we
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: get there. When when Carol took over for Parcels Bledsoe
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: was in his fifty fifth year. Were you worried about
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: this development back then? Paul? No, but yeah, why would
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: you have been? He had just gone to the super Bowl. Okay, yeah,
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: you know we're gonna be you know, pumped and jack
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: We got Drew and he probably had his best year
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: in ninety seven Statistically. I don't know about statistically, but
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: he had a really good year in ninety seven. Neil
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: from New Brunswick says, any thoughts on taking Gilmore back
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: at this point? I think he's less expensive than Jackson. Also,
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: it feels like every free agent player mentioned under every
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: free agent player mentioned on this show, there is a
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: reason why he wouldn't or couldn't come here. That feels
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: bad to me. How many bridges has this organization burned?
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: Especially Mattie pe is a coach multiple players seem to
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: have a beef with. I mean we said last year
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: it's money, right, like people will go play somewhere. I
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: think you just when you get down to splitting hairs
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: of where guys are going to have a choice to go,
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: sometimes you know it makes more sense. I would say
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: Malcolm Butler is probably a bridge that's burned. But I
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: don't know that there's many players that I would feel
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: like that about. Yeah, how many guys have come back. Yeah,
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: I wouldn't rule Gilmore out because of what happened. I'd
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: rule Gilmore out because if they wanted him. And I
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: think Bill went out of his way to be cordial
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: after Gilmour left with what he said publicly. I think
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: both sides did. Yeah, so I think there was something
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: that Steph was upset about with his treatment. Yeah, but
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: I don't necessarily think it was like a huge like
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: riffed with with Bill or anything like that. No, it
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: always seemed like business. Yeah. With that, let's get back
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: to the Ace ticket hutline. We'll start with Sean and Vancouver.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: What's up, Sean Paytred? I got a couple of things
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: I agree with you in regards to the plan for
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: the Patriots, Like, I would not be surprised if next
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: season the Patriots don't make the playoffs because they have
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: a lot of needs. You know, there's like seven positions
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: right now that they're they're looking at, and I think
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: the plan is is more long term. Uh. Now, Shack
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: Mason as a player that I really liked, He's one
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: of my favorite players, Like I kind of have his Jersey.
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: So I hope they keep him, but which players or
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: you know, I don't care about semantics if you call
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: it money or you call the cap. But how would
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: the Patriots create more spending in terms of either cutting
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: guys or restructuring. What do you think they'll do with that?
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: I'll take that off? There? Are you still there, Sean?
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: He's here before you go. Do you kind of have
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: his shirt because of the number? No, it says May.
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: It's just May, mom, Sean? Is that why you have
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: the shirt? Sean? Are you one of those adults that
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: has the sixty nine shirt? It didn't didn't hurt that, Eric,
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: Eric gave me this funny look he has a Shack
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: Bason shirt and I'm drawing the number makes sense? Okay, thanks, Sean. Well,
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: I think the Mason, you know, Mason restructure. I think
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: Jonathan Jones another one who's who's making a bunch of
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: money and you know, isn't you know, maybe a top
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: flight outside corneries. He's a versatile inside guy. Um and
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: van Noy. I mean, he's still got another year two.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: But those are kind of the veteran high money guys
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: that maybe would look to restructure and then you mentioned
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: things like mcguel pointed out with like restructuring Jude on
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: where you give him, you know, more of a signing
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: or more of his bonuses whatever, like now and that
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: can open up. So how do you look at like
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: the free agents that you just signed if if in
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: year two you're addressing those contracts already. Um, maybe they
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: always intended to do that. Yeah, I'm serious. Maybe that
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: was part of the plan. I'm not in this and
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: then we'll I'm not making fun of that next year.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: I think it's amazing how you have it at the ready.
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: I'm not. I'm not even making fun of you like
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: I think. I think it's awfully hard to envision signing
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: nine free agents with the idea of four or five
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: of these we're going to immediately have to work. I
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: think you look at all these contracts that way. I
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: mean they're all think you look yeah, I think, I
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: think absolutely. I don't think they want to be using
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: the credit card in year two. But that was a
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: lot of money that they put out. I could I
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: could see them say, listen, if we have to, we're
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: gonna put the money out now. But if we have
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: to do something next year, we'll do it. We'll deal
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: with it next year. Yeah. I think it's a good,
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: good question from Paul just generally, because I think that's
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: something I keep kind of coming back to of, you know,
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: people are like, oh, well just cut Agalo or cut
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: Davon Gach and it's like, I understand why people maybe
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: we're a little disappointment where their performances, But you know,
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: is it does it financially make sense to cut Nelson
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: Agalore and have whatever, you know, you open up a
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: little cap space, you got a bunch of debts and
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: then go sign another free agent receiver. And talking about
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: cutting them, right, we like, what do you do about
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: these guys that maybe you gave too much money? And
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: you know right now, my philosophy is I think you
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: just burn it off and you hope this year that
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: they're better if you got to do you know, some
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: some little bit of you know, fronaggling money here and there.
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: But you know, I don't think yeah, or you know,
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: we're you know, let's Paul said, I mean people could
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: make a case for Gotscha that you could cut him
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: and then go sign you know, go sign somebody else.
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: So I just how much of that is do you
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: know you're going to improve the team, or are you
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: just taken another swing on somebody like a Galore who
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: was a proven receiver Elsewheren. You know, it was a
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: little bit underwhelming in year one and you know, or
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: is it just worth it to hey, let's give him
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: a year to improve. Let's yeah, did we overpay probably,
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: but we're in that bed. Now, let's line it. Let's
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: see what he's got in year two. Maybe maybe it
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: works out better this year than it didn't. I feel,
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: you know, similar about John Ou and you know those guys.
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: So I would rather have Agaloord come back with that idea,
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: like maybe in year two he can be a little
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: bit more productive. Gotcha I would move on from and
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: I would I would just plug in, you know, like
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: a Byron Coward yep, Like I think you can get
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: that out. I mean, I don't think Coward's a great player,
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: but I think you can get with Gotcha, Like Barmore
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: was different. Barmore like he showed up to me every game,
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: and I know I have a crush on the guy,
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: but he's different. Gotcha was out there, like he's just
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: out there. Like that's not worth nine million a year
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: to me. Todd is in North Carolina. Hey Todd, Hey, guys,
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: how are you doing good? Good? So I think we
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: better be careful about looking at our path with the
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: Bill because I think Andy Hart had him in the
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: grave soon because he's quoted some seventy year old people
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: in the States that just don't live that long. Anyway, Onto,
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: my question is, I'm I'm wondering who who do we
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: need to secure in this offseason and who can we
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: let go with respect to the defense, because I think
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: the defense is so just such a big question and
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: I'm just not sure if we can afford to lose
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: too much too many of our veterans because we need
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: the leadership because we don't have a defensive coordinator. Well, yeah,
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: we need to let's just kind of curious. Let's phrase
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: it another way. Who are guys that are untouchable on defense?
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: Yeah like that? Yeah, yeah, like under contract and untouchable. Yeah,
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: like there you good kind I would say, like like
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: Phillips and Dugger probably Phillips yaps this good one. And
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: I'd say Jude On too right now, Well, he's not
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: going anywhere, so yeah, I mean I don't think he's
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: going anywhere. But he's not untouchable. Someone wanted to give
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: me a second round pick for him, I would take
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: it in a heartbeat. That's what you used on him, right,
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: right point is there aren't that many No, no, no, yeah,
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: maybe maybe somewhere on the offensive side of the ball
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: than Yeah. I think I think mccordy is a guy
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: that if I were a bill I would I would
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: try to extend myself to retain yes, because I think
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: I think I think he's a guy that gives you
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: that leadership back there, and I think you might need
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: a little of that, especially if you lose Jack. I
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: think High Tower doesn't give you as much because I
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: don't think he's as good a player. Yeah, okay, Yeah,
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: I'd like to hear what he wants to do. I
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: think it's tough it does he want to come back?
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: I mean I could see a role for I just
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: if Hi Tire wanted to come back at you know,
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: like a sort of a veteran not the veteran minimum
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: that's insulting, but you know, like a three million, four
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: million dollars or something like that. I'd look into it.
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: But I don't think he will. I'm with Fred on him.
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: He talks about money a lot. Yeah, thanks, I appreciate
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: the call. Let's go over to Pittsfield. What's up Ben? Hey, guys,
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: how are you doing good? All right, I'm good. This
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: is the one thing I need to just say quick
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: in terms of offensive coordinators, if like, like, how long
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: can we wait until like we know either it's going
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: to be a mass like the defense last year where
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: we don't know, or like we finally know that we're
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: gonna have an offensive coordinator, Like when do you think
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: they make that decision by like could we see them
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: the next week? Like I mean, at the very least,
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: I think they need to just putting Nick Hayley at
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: POD and just call there and hope for the best,
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: because I cannot see no offensive coordinator working out at all.
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: Well again, you know, are you? It's a there's a
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: difference between a guy with the title and a guy
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: who's doing the job. And you know, if we get
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: into the spring and we see Nick Kaylee with a
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: headset and we'll say, Okay, they're trying him at that,
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: they're getting him ready for that. Yeah, um, And we'll
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: know in the spring if if that's on, if that's
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: on the plate, but I would expect if nothing's happened
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: by March sixteenth, that you're going, Yeah, you're kind of
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: going what you got. Oh, I think the coaching staff,
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: I think is what you got. I mean, you might
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: get like a viny Sinceri type that we don't know,
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: comes in as like a quality control guy. But in
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: terms of the real jobs. I know that some people
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: still think that Bill O'Brien and Adam gaze or possibilities.
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't either. They well gaze met,
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: but not O'Brien. Yeah, is because I feel like I
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: keep hearing from so many people, Oh, you know, Bill O'Brien,
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: you know, he's totally coming back, don't worry, you know,
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: next week or two. But that still is yet to happen.
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: And as each day kind of classes by and more
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: and more happened, just seems so so unlikely. Yeah, I
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: think you need to get your head around that the
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: guys who are here are the ones you're gonna have. Yeah, definitely,
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: But all right, thank you guys. All right, thanks Ben,
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: appreciate the call. Um. Let's see, let's get to some
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: of these emails at web radio at patriot dot com.
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: Ray from Saint Louis write. Soon saw some rant on
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: Twitter from Jarvis Landry. I don't know if you all
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: talked about this, but do you think if released, that
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: would be someone you'd like on our team to play
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: in the slot? Jarvis Landry? Well, I liked Jarvis Landry,
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: but I liked it, but I thought when we saw
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: him play, like based on what we saw him play,
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: it all made sense to me after I saw what
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: he wrote, because he looked like he did not want
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: to get hit at all. I mean, he looked like
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: he was playing through something, which he said he was.
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: You know again, would I take a veteran savvy interior receiver. Yeah,
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: I'd kick the tires on one of those guys, but
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: I'd prefer what did you say on Twitter? Just that
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: he was hurt all year? That you know he wasn't
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: he didn't when he media availability because he was trying
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: to get healthy. Um, I forget what I mean. I'm
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: kind of the main gist of it, just that he
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: was kind of like, what was it again? Like it
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: seems like the emailer is equating this too, like he
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: wants out of Cleveland. Yeah, like he said that. I
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: forget exactly what the words. I didn't. I don't know.
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: I mean, you know me and the social media, it's
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: Baker may feel a good quarterback. No, no, no, Unequivocally
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: I don't think so. But I mean, in fairness to me,
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: that was my thought coming into the league, and I've
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: stuck with it. I think he's I think he's a
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: good quarterback. I don't know if he's super Bowl winning quarterback.
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: I was again, I was not impressed with him when
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: he came here. He just didn't look like he had progressed.
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: It didn't really look like he Now I'm going to
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: go the other ways, playing with a cuff in, a
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: separated shoulder and no and no skill position players who
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: were all out on COVID. So I'm not I'm not
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: necessarily blaming this year on him. I just don't think
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: he's that good. I've never been I've never been on him.
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: I've never been a big against him either. But I
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: don't know good commercials. That's about all I can tell you.
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: He's good. He's not great. Good, not great. Yeah. Um
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: Ken writes in from New Jersey. I've been thinking about
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: Tom Brady's retirement announcement. I think he solely mentioned the Buccaneers,
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: not to disrespect the Patriots, but to butter up the
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: Bucks so that they release or trade him when the
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: time comes. Disrespecting the Patriots was just a happy secondary benefit. Yeah,
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: and then tell everybody that you couldn't deal with Bruce
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: Arians anymore. It's a good way to go about it. So, right,
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: I mean, where did rich Enburger get that former teammate? Yep? Didn't.
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: Didn't somebody say that he was also friends with Byron Leftwich?
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: He might be, yeah, but I'm just my point is
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: they're getting it from them. Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, yep.
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: So is he the one that said his sources were impregnable? Yeah?
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: I think I think was he the one that said that,
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: like his source was impregnable. I don't know. I just
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: I just saw the bullet point like something he would say,
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: you know, the red inc with you know, after they
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: do the offensive game plan and all that stuff, and
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: I don't even use a red pack. A lot of
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: a lot of friction, right, A lot of a lot
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: of friction. That's when you know, Yeah, how could they
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: know that's that that that's that would be a BILLI
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: is right, that's not true, he said, I take my
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: purple pen out and then you know, you'd find out
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: three years later he uses a blue pant, right, and
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: that's why it wasn't true, right, he just lights and
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: Fred would say, well, it's not true. He just lights
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: a match to it. Yeah, this is what I think
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: of it. Actually, actually he just rips it up and
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: throws it away. He doesn't light a match to it.
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: So do over? Give me that. I'm going to the
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: bathroom do over? Is there anything worse than a do over?
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: I still say, I don't understand the outrage of a
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: head coach having input in his off I know it
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: does seem yeah, you know, I just thought the way
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: that was written was more than input. It was just like,
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: are you tak like are they tasked with putting together
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: a game plan and then they bring it to you
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: when you say, yeah, okay, we can work with this,
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: or we could do this and this, but instead of this,
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: let's do that, or are you just saying yeah, that's
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: great his order doing? Yeah, because that's what it sounds
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: like they were doing. That's not what I read. I
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: read that he made a couple editions, couple and that
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: was it. Yeah, if that's all it is, then that
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: that that there's no reason to be upset. The whole
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: red Ink tweet sounded like more than what you're describing.
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: I'm just surprised that this whole tom Brady thing has
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: just been so graceless, Like it's just how it has
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: just been. You know, Heyduce tom Brady Senior told us
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: was gonna end pretty. It's not ending pretty, right, It
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: is a bay agree. I agree with Mike that right.
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: A guy who was so um image conscious all all
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: along the way has has bungled this beyond belief like
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: one like him, miss steps stupid stuff to talk about
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: every every way Like you could tell me this is
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: the real hymn, and I'm not gonna argue with you,
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: because who knows. I don't know who the real hymn is,
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: But does he know who the real him? I would
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: just say, based on the lench that he went through
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: along the way to make sure he didn't come off
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: like this, it's it's it's it's kind of stunning that
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: that that's he's done, this that's still going like it's
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: I don't know, I just expected something different based on
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: how he Everything is so carefully thought out and planned,
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: and it almost seemed like maybe ESPN getting getting the
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: beat on it just threw it all into chaos. And
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: then he's like I wasn't expecting that, yeah, And then
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: and then he didn't He could just never quite right,
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: don't tell people what you're doing and say keep it
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: on the down low because it's gonna get out there.
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: Don't make a ten part documentary, right, Yeah, you got
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: some assistant editor who's like digitizing footage. He's retiring. You're
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: trying here, It is right here, right, I just wrote
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: the chiron for it. Like do you I mean, do
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: you know like what what Mike and I are saying, Like,
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: do you guys see it the same way? Like I
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: don't know. Maybe maybe this is really what Tom is
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: and he's just like shielded the real Tom from us
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: all these years. Well, like this is just I retire,
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: Like they just think about step back and think of
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: the time timeline for a second. It leaks on Saturday
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: before the conference championship games, which is really Friday night, Okay,
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: Friday night before the conference which which number one is
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: something that would would run counter to what you would
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: think Brady would want. Right. However, maybe we just didn't
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: really know what the real Tom was. Then everybody in
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: their brother on his behalf, on his behalf right said no,
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: it's not true. Right Monday comes around, he goes on
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: a podcast with Jim Jim Gray and says that he's
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: hasn't made that that decision. The very next morning, he
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: puts out a lengthy eight pages, a lengthy post on
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: Instagram to retire and excludes the Patriots, Like, does any
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: of this none sort of jive with the way you've
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: always thought Tom carries himself. No, No, it does seem
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: like to Deuce's point, things were forced, like his hand
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: was forced a little bit and he wasn't thinking clearly. Well,
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: but I don't. I also gonna say like he's acted
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: differently since he left for Tampa Bay. I thought the
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: last couple of years, a little bit more loose about things,
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: doing more commercials, like being a little bit more personable
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: in the media appearances that he does. Like when it
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: was here, Paul's right, it was always very like image
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: conscious and yeah, and the kind of like, ah, I'm
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: not going to get into that. Yeah, and I'll give
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: you a great story along those lines in a second,
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: but just I want you you said, like how his
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: hand was forced Freddie, And I do wonder if maybe,
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: you know, let's go back to the leaking of the story,
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: like Luck and Flora and then Darlington and Schefter. I
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: wonder if it sort of rankled Tampa Bay that he
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: was stepping aside, and Tampa Bay went to those guys
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: and said, oh, yeah, he's he's retiring. Maybe he's being
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: coy with you, and that sort of forced his hand. Yeah,
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: like oh, because maybe he was. Maybe what he was
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: trying to do was play nice because he didn't really
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: want to retire, and he wanted to go to San Francisco,
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: just say San Francisco for the sake of the argument.
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: And he went to Tampa Bay like, you know, we've
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: been good to each other, right, this is this has
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: worked out. I got you what you wanted, you gave
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: me what I wanted. But I want to go. I
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: got a year left from my contract. Let me go.
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: Otherwise I'm just going to retire. Right. And then like
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: Jason Lighter, someone said, f you, hey, chef man, right,
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: your boys retiring could be could be yeah, you know,
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: could be the throne stuff, but stuff, But like wouldn't
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: that sort of explain how seemingly unprepared. He was, yes,
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: right because it wasn't going according to the plan that
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: he's what I wanted to do. That was gonna let
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: this go out for a month. Yeah yeah, right, nice
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: offseason a whole like Tom Brady right retirement announcement. And
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: if I did retire, I still get that four million
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: or whatever it was that I was supposed to get
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: from the Bucks. So so does Garoppolo end up on
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: the Bucks and comes back the Packers gets hurt because
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: you know I could see him going to Green Bay.
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: You know, it's another just a little detail. Paul too
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: is like TV twelve post in the like goodbye, like
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: his own company posted like right after congratulation on your career.
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: They weren't in on it. They weren't in on it.
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: But you how connected he is with TV twelve Right,
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: But anyway, I dietgres Uh Claire and West Midland's UK.
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: Hello everyone, not Marine Marine, He's Greens in Disney World.
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: Uh quick shout out if I may. I'm celebrating the
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: one year anniversary of my podcast. A clear perspective, Fred,
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: I hope you'll be on now in my second season.
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: I doubt it, but okay, I'm just kidding. I may
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: douce laugh. My goal every show is to make slaugh. Yeah,
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: I don't laugh at much. No, you're laugh at everything? Right?
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: Oh oh wait? Um okay, possibly a stupid question, so
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: my apologize, but I'm genuinely curious. How feasible is it
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: for a team to trade for a decent rookie drafted,
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: say the year before, what with cheaper contracts for four years,
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: et cetera. How likely and even possible is it for
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: a team to get another team, say, second round draft pick,
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: as in the player from the previous year who may
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: have played some of the season, if he played any
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: level of well like, at any level of production. Almost impossible? Yeah, right,
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: you have to give him a first round pick probably
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: to get us. Yeah. And even then, I'm like, if
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: you had if you drafted a guy in the second round,
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: isn't that and and he's working, isn't that more valuable
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: than an unknown first round pick? Yeah? What was uh?
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: I mean? The only guy I can think of is uh,
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: what's his name? The Josh rosen as a as a
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: as a high day one day two pick, right, a
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: stiff like you can get stick like they don't work?
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: Out careful. You can get a guy who wasn't going
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: to make the team as a draft pick and maybe
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: trade for him, I don't know, right before the season starts.
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: Just spitball. Any examples of Sean Wade uh spin freds No.
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: Fred just nailed it with the phrase there's a difference
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: between a guy with the title and a guy who's
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: doing the job. There was an old similar PFW addage,
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: but I can't quite remember it. Oh well, anyway, it's that,
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: it's there. There are guys who make the Pro Bowl.
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: There are Pro Bowlers, and there are guys who make
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: the Pro Bowl right there, they're a ten sack guys.
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: There's a name for that type of switching of phrases.
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: There's an actual name of that, like you know, but
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: you don't if you get the names. Yeah, yeah, right, Um. Anyway,
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: he uh spe says he's closing in in his first
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: home this Thursday. Any way out of Cleveland. He's saying,
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: right off the goal, I'm putting the ball in Cleveland's court,
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: telling them I would like to stay, but if not,
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: then I'm confident enough in myself to be better healthy
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: me next year. Yeah, he's not blasting his way out
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: of Cleveland. He's looking for more money. Well, I think
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: he's let he's letting everybody know in case they release me.
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: I'm I wasn't healthy last year. That's what he's doing. Yeah.
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: Um yeah, buying is for say again, start buying their
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: first home. Who's this and he's age advice being Fresno.
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: Oh uh, well Deuce would say, don't do it in California. Yeah, Fresno.
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: I mean yeah, it's I mean, probably better prices up
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: there than than It's not like no Frisco or San Diego.
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: But you'll need you'll need more money. Yeah, just keeps
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: adding up. Always something to do, always, always things to do. Yeah,
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: I mean I don't know what to think. I think
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: you'll love being a homeowner, but it's not easy, right, Yeah,
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: I mean I there's a level of anxiety that comes
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: with it that I wasn't as a renter, a lifelong renter,
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: that that you just did well at the breaks. I
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: was called the lord and now it's like I'm always
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: because that was the opposite. Every every time I had
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: to write out my check for rent every month, it
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: made me depressed. Right, I could be owning something I
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: could instead of owning something. I'm I'm renting it and
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: I'm not generating any equity, Like I'm not building anything.
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: Now now you own it's now I'm up to my eyeballs.
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: But at least it's mine. And if I listen, if
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: the worst come to work, I sell my house, right,
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: and it's my problems are all solved, right, except you
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: have to buy find a new place to live. Right.
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: But I would like if I had to, i'd be
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: able to rent. Yeah, with a lot more money that
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: I've built up. Yeah, you know, based on what I
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: would sell my house for. Absolutely, yeah, But yeah, it's
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: I mean, something has always gone wrong. I'll give you
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: a great example of what went wrong over the weekend, Freddie. Okay,
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: I got a new door pointed in the front, so
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: around the frame, you know, on the inside. You know,
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: they take the frame off, they put it back on.
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: They get but this like little nicks or whatever. So
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: I had a paint around the door. Again, Yeah, I
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: can't find the right gray, so I painted it with
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: a different color. Well is it a matter of the finishes?
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: It like satin verse? No different color, oh, just different.
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: The Lovely Elizabeth has about seven different kinds of gray
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: around the house anchor gray. Okay, that's an ars yeah,
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: smoke gray because all you you can have the same
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: color but a different finish and it just looks like
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: different color. This is it's darker now. I mean it
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: looks better than it did with all the like this.
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: Like I got to spackle out and a little joint compound.
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: I smoothed it out, sanded it. It looks a lot better. Yeah,
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: but the colors are awful. When when I was selling
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: my house, like it was kind of a last minute decision,
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: so I had done some stuff like thinking we're gonna stay,
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: and I pulled out a medicine cabinet and to put
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: in a new one, and like just completely you know,
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: tore up the wall around the right. So so I
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: just like spackled and and it just never would look
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: So I painted like a white frame around it, like
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: I meant to have a white frame, you know, just
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: did things like that. Oh yeah, ye all over the place. Well,
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: this guy has really weird taste, you know. Just rip
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: the medicine cabinet right out of the wall as soon
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: as they try to open it. Oh yeah, Like and
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: I had to had one of those saws you know,
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: the all saw whatever they call those, and I had
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: to make more room because the other medicine cabin was
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: just a little bit bigger. So I'm like sawing, you know,
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: two by fours in the wall in my bedrooms. Next
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: when I go, I went right through the wall. I
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: didn't realize it, but poking out the other side, right,
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: what could go wrong? It's like, oh, this is working out.
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: Then I go to the other side and like, walls
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: just pushed right out. Yeah, but I like to do
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: it yourself projects. Yeah, well that's what I mean. As
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: I've only owned a home now for a year, but
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: just there's there's always something to do and it's fun.
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: Like on you know, I'm gonna go do some yardwork
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: and you feel like you're really doing something. Yourseff, I
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: like that. Had a big limb that came down in
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: the storm Friday and uh ever, source had to come
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: and cut it up because it was across the road.
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: But they left these huge like trunks on the sidewalk,
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: and now am I supposed to cut those up? Or
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: like what's going on here? The firewood? Yeah? Fire, But
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: I mean it's not like this is a huge limb.
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: It was a very old tree. So it's not like
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: even with a chainsaw, it'd be easy because these are
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: like double thick, you know. Yeah, you have fireplaces in
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: your new five of them. Five fireplaces, Yes, I do.
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: Oh god, that's how I want one of those. Is
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: that how you heat the house? No, you can, though, can't,
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: like I can't imagine. Like like people in those times,
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: all you're doing is bringing in wood all day you know,
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: keep that thing going in the middle of winter, right,
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: so that your job is to bring in wood all
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: day long, wood, you know, no chainsaws. Yeah, I want
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: to convert ours to gas just to make it easier
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: for that, because it does make a mess. Yeah, so
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: you know, you got to do the whole thing down
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: the chimney with the insert. But but I have, like
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: the when I got a new hot water, like four
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: or five years ago, the guy set it all up, Okay,
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: so all I have to do is connect the line
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: if I want to, Right, we just didn't do it
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: at the time because I just had to buy a
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: new hot water. I like the real fire there's a budget. Yeah,
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: it's just the smoke of it. Yeah, smoke. That's exactly
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: why you don't like it. It makes a messy it does, yes,
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: but yeah, five five fireplaces. Five that's great. Five with
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: a sniff, the five with a sniff. We've only lit
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: one so far, and that's the one in the bedroom.
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Oh we had a fire and it wasn't
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: in the fireplace. That's when you sniff. We had We
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: had no electricity, so we and of course I didn't
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: open the flu all the way, so the smoke filled
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: the room. Also, why I want a gas fireplace because
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: I've dealt with that. So now you're opening the window,
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: which is counter to what you were trying to do,
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: which is the house. My kids had to sleep over
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: one night and the fire was going all day, and
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: then you know, we put the fire out. It was out,
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: but it wasn't completely open, right, So the kids asleep
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: and one of the kids go up stairs. Paul, there's
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: a lot of smoke downstairs. I go down. You couldn't
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: even see uptair. I thought I thought I was gonna
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: kill Oh my god. Yeah. Uh yeah. So homeownership is fun. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: a little stressful, but yeah, watching your home home equity
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: increases nice. Yeah. And I have these really old windows,
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: so they're drafty, you know. She get the mass head.
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: The mass does a great job. I had him come in, so, oh,
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: I haven't have a whole story with them. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: we got nothing by time. I had them come in
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: and they did the whole evaluation, and they said, okay,
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: we're gonna schedule you. They're gonna come in, they're gonna
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: put insulation downstairs and in the attic, blah blah blah.
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: And you know, in the meantime between that, in the appointment,
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: they set me this nice box of you know, light
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: bulbs and all that. So that's right. So then the
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: day that they're supposed to come in for the insulation,
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: this is like four months later. Now they show up
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: and the guy looks around. He's like, well, we can't
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: do that. We can't do this, we can't We're gonna
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: have to. I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa, Like this is
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: not what they said you were gonna do. I said,
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: I don't want any of it. Go. He goes really,
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: I'm like yeah, I go. First of all, it's an
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: old house. I'm afraid what you're gonna do is gonna
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: mess it up. And half of what he said you're
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: gonna do, now you're saying you can't do so I
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: don't want anything. So he leaves. They come back like
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: half an hour later. I guess with his managers. Listen,
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: you know, you sure you want to do this. I mean,
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: we're gonna get paid anyway, so we don't care. But
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: I'm like, no, just go, I don't want anything done.
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: It took none of it. Yeah, yeah, they did guitars.
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: I mean it was all the insulation in the attic,
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: which is like they had like a whole tube that
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: was blasting in there. But oh yeah, but see, I
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: don't want them doing that, you know, Like first of all,
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: I had it gets so hot upstairs anyway, Like I
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: don't need insulation in the ad at it because heat rises,
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: you know, I need it like in the basement, you know.
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: But yeah, they sealed ours up there, I said. And
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: they put the insulation around the basement too, But I
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: don't know, we didn't really notice. I mean, the gas
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: has gone through the roof, so our gas bills were
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: still astronomical. I just feel like this house has been
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: around for over three hundred and thirty years and no
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: one's done that yet. There might be a reason why
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: they haven't done it. I don't know I'm gonna mess
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: something up if I have them do that, so safe. Yeah,
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: let's get back to the A ticket hut line. Jeff'son Texas.
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: What's up, Jeff? Hey guys, how are you doing good? Thanks?
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: Thanks for taking my call. Just two things. One, I
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: think every everybody that calls in should both for their
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: favorite Paul and Fred argument of the season. Okay, yeah,
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: we got to spark that up again. We haven't. We've
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: been slacking lately. Well you know, yep. Well my favorite
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: argument was the one before you, guys, um and it
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: was about a player's value. You is being traders greater
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: to the team. He's being traded from you, the team's
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: being traded. Yeah, yeah, I remember, well because he changed
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: in the middle on me. He confused me in the middle.
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: Our best arguments, though, or when the Patriots are really good,
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: that's when Paul argues with me. Oh, is that why
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: I haven't argue with you in a couple of years? Exactly? No,
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: that's exactly right, That's exactly right. That's that's the hidden
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: meeting there. So you just don't have it in you
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: to argue all the time. Now. It's just like I
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: can admit when they're not playing well. Paul can't admit
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: when they're they are playing well, but I can argue it.
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: You know the league stinks when the Patriots are on
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: a twenty year crushing dynasty. Oh I I don't recall
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: ever saying now, oh you and Andy, Oh the league stinks. No,
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: there's no good teams. A division stinks. Now, the whole league,
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: the whole league, I remember, like an elephant you're being
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: So you've done it, Jeff, we congratulations done. I might,
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: I might give you entry number one for the twenty
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: twenty two offseason. Don't tell me the first iteration of
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: the dynasty, the one through oh four oh five, that era.
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: You're telling me that I told you that Pittsburgh, Indianapolis
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: in Tennessee and Baltwood. You I told you those teams stink.
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: I don't even remember saying that. I remember. I never
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: remember telling you the Colts with Peyton Manning. I remember
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: very clearly, those were great, noding. The division stinks. The
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: division stinks. I've I've stood by that from the from
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: the start. But don't tell me that I told you
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: that the Peyton Manning Colts or the Roethlisberger Steelers stunk.
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: I never said that. I say a lot of stupid things,
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: like I would trade Brady straight up for Matthew Stafford.
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: I will resign if they draft Richard Seymour. I say
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: a lot of stupid things that I admit to. I
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: never said that the Peyton Manning Colts stunk or that
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: the Steelers stunk. Yeah, but I think with you know,
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: I think overall, those were eight teams and at the time,
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: the AFC was a minefield to get to the super Bowl.
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: Just get to the super Bowl, was winning it because
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: the NFC stunk. That the AFC was really good. Yeah,
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: all right, thanks, Jeff, appreciate that beat him in another argument. Well, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen,
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: those years, I'm I'm with that, like that was that
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: those years the AFC fell off a cliff, Like, yeah,
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: but I'm talking about going back like when they want
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: when they had these twenty game winning streets, said he's
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: talking about I didn't tell you that they beat all
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: bad teams and those and those that wasn't true. Well,
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: I'll take your word for it. I wasn't here. So
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: now the division, I think it's what we argued is.
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: I think it's an enormous advantage to go into every
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: year knowing you're gonna go five and one in your division,
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: you're gonna have it locked up by Thanksgiving, and you're
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: gonna have a buy as a result in home playoff games.
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: Like I don't care how Like everybody would say, well,
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: look at their record outside. It doesn't matter. Other teams
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: do well outside of the Division two. But the difference
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: was those teams in the division couldn't compete with them,
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: and they knew it every year going into the season.
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: That's an enormous edge. Yeah, just those rex of years
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: that was in Buffalo, Buffalo is open. Wasn't that the
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: only time that it was ever interesting? It was like nine,
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: ten and eleven, y yep, um Dan in Virginia in
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: Michigan five fireplaces, Fred, Yeah, and it really is much.
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: I must have missed the show where you announced that
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: you moved into Downton Abbey. Is that right down Abbey? Yeah,
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: you got a right, You got that right, you said
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: downtown Abbey. I knew that was good for you, Fred. Yeah,
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: you're welcome. Um let's see. Alex writes in from Sandiago
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: beautiful the aforementioned. Uh No, he's actually from Pentucket, but
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: with the talk of San Diego, he had to chime
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: in to say that I'm going to my bachelor party
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: in August to San Diego. I'm getting married in September. Congratulations,
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: right in time to ensure my fiance finally leaves being
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: a Giants fan to become a Pages fan for the
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: twenty twenty two season. Like kid, I know she never
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: will question. What are some spots in San Diego I
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: should make sure to hit. Food is highly encouraged. Yeah,
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: I never lived there. I'd have to consult my wife
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: who lived there, but I would say just generally, the
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: Mexican food is wonderful down there. I think you don't
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: think I don't think you can go wrong that place.
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: Did you come with us to that George's George's on
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: the Cove? I think it's called no Uh. When we
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: were out there for that week in twenty fourteen, PR
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: took us out there and that was a spot. What's
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: the downtown area gastric district. Yeah, there's a little there's
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: a little literally there, so that might remind you of
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: of home out. Yeah. The Gaslight District's pretty cool. Um,
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: I mean, if you golf Tory Pines. It is actually
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: a public course. Yeah, that's a great place to play. Yeah,
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: I have golf there and I stink. Yeah, no, I'm okay.
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: I think I've told this story before. I won't I
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: won't go. But my friend stayed there overnight, and if
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: you stay there you get passes. And it was an
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: absolute like travesty that we were even on the field,
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: like he had his like girlfriend on the girl on
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: the course Green Green, but he had like his girl.
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: We didn't have enough people for our groups, so he
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: had to like have his girlfriend tee off and so
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: like this girl is teeing off like in flip flops,
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: and and the whole time the marshal was up our
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: ass ready golf. You guys are holding the whole thing
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: like screaming at us, like really from hole to hole
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: do that sometimes. Then I got this other guy who's
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: like my friends, my my my friend's boyfriend. And this
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: guy is like a drinker with an edge, and he's
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: getting really mad about this marshal and he's like starting
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: to talk about so I'm gonna fight all. He's like
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: I'm gonna fight him, like he's getting mad. I wouldn't
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: fight the guy. What have I stepped into I don't
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: even know what you know, and we're just and then
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: there's somebody's not even playing. They're just handing out drinks
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: in the cart behind. Like the Marshal's like, what are
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: you so you say tour it's a public course. I'm like,
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: maybe they should reconsider it because people like us, we're
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: going on and making an absolute joke of the whole thing.
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: What's the worst like behavior you've ever witnessed witness live
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: on a golf course. I've never been on like I
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: had a fight breakout and whole ahead of me because
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: of what. I don't know what they were fighting about.
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: But the two you know parties got into a fist
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: fight at Leo J. Martin. They're probably hitting into the group. Maybe, yeah,
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: I've seen fights, yeah, I mean not like physical fist fights,
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: but yelling confrontations with his yelling going on. And it's
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: always because someone's hitting into the group. If you do
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: it once, it's an accident. If you do it consistently,
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: you're a yeah. Yeah, not a lot. I mean a
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: lot of a lot of times. The Dennis twice, I've
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: seen like durnation in the open, like come on, you
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: know the open. Yeah, drunk drunken like not even like
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: hide in the woods, you know, like just on the
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: edge of the of the fairway. You know, I've seen
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: that in the rough, you know, from the rough. Have
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: you ever been on a course with an alligator? I've
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: never been on a golf course. No, is that right? Right,
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: you've never been on a golf course. I mean we went,
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: we did the radio show from that. Remember when the
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: Patriots used to belt golf course? Yeah, so I've been
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: two golf courses. I've never actually gone played golf. No, Wow,
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: you'd like it. It's pastoral. I would take it. It's
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: all seriousness. I think you're right. Yeah, its like something
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: he's already got the hats. Yeah, it's I got the
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: right up your alley. I can't believe that you've never tried.
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: I don't even need to do clothes. I can just
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: wear what. There's some great especially in New England, there's
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: some really scenic golf courses that I think you would
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: really enjoy just walking around. Yeah. Yeah, never had the
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: opportunity of around. Doesn't play, just walks the course. Yeah,
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: I'm in golf. I'm just here. Was always my skiing
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: I always wanted to accompany my friends trips. Yeah, I
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: can ski. I don't really like it, and I would
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: I would. I would go and I would hang out,
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: and then when they came to the lodge, I'm like,
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: we're ready. Yeah. I used to do the same thing
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: with fantasy football drafts. Never was in any of the leagues,
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: but I used to show up for the draft night
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: every like, are you just gonna sit there? And yeah?
- 1:51:30Speaker 1: Alex says, in terms of the Patriots, is there a
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: personnel group that you guys feel strongly about? I would
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: say our running backs are pretty solid. I know everyone
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: is looking for the holes we need to fill as
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: we should. Just want to see what group you're least
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: concerned with. Least least concern would probably be, Yeah, running backs, Yeah, yeah,
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: And even then I think they I think they need
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: to add I think they need that a little bit. Probably.
- 1:51:57Speaker 1: Are you concerned with the tight ends? No? No, but
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: I he wouldn't mind up I wouldn't mind upgrading a little.
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: I don't think it's great. I don't think you got
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: a lot out of smith jacket and ah. But my
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: favorite argument by far is your argument about whether a
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: river has a tie that was that was legendary because
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: no one gets angry like Andy. Oh, he was just,
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: you know, very mad, very Mary. I'm always arguing, so
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: I'm not saying I never get really mad, because I
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: do see time. But for the most part, I'm I'm
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: happy arguing. Yeah, you're Andy, but he gets is angry.
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: Oh he got mad at Fred that night. I mean
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: he was really angry with you. Oh yeah, and this
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: was during the first round of the draft. Yeah, I'm
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: sure we traded out anyway. Randy. A couple of emailers
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: with restaurant suggestions in Sandiago Wona for Chetta in South
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: Park and Salude in Barrio Logan. I don't know what
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: I'm and then very much so Andrew has uh Kachina,
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: Urbana born and raised. He says, it's expensive but amazing
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: drinks and steak sounds good to me. And then morning glory,
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: great su flays and pancakes. You like that. Eric's a
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: big breakfast guy. Yeah. We actually when we were out
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: there that week, Uh Jim nance had recommended to our
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: pr director a place to go to breakfast, and for
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: the life of me, I cannot remember the name of
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: the place. It was awesome, but It was like a
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: little bit uh on on like a It was right
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: on the on the road, but the like the hillside.
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: It was built into the hillside along the road. So
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: you go up and you have this great view of
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: the Pacific Ocean out there, and it was a tremendous spot.
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: Good food too. And I can't I cannot remember the
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: name of the place. Call up Jim Nance Maybe maybe
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: hello friends, Hello, the name of that breakfast place. I
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: kind of like that commercial when did you Get this number?
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: When they're all they're all kids and they go to
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: the game for the first time, that one with Jim
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: Nansony that the kid comes and goes hello friends. Uh.
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: Tyler writes in from Natick, I was curious as if
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: there are any updates on being on their being Patriots
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: Unfiltered hoodies. I've been listening to this podcast since twenty
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: fourteen and would be more than happy to buy some
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: PU merch, especially a PU flag signed by the crew
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: to fly when tailgating at home games. You flag flowers. Yeah,
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: I think I think there is talk about creating some hoodies.
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: We talked because we're doing something for the international, and
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: we figured let's just get some for Puy, but it's
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: it's never left. No. I think Matt has done efforting that, Yes,
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: he's done. Later and a question for Eric. I work
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: in when Socket and was wondering if there are any
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: great vegetarian restaurants in Rhode Island. I should check out
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: Plant City, downtown Providence, right on the South Water Street,
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: downtown Providence, Plant Plant City. Okay, there was also one
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: I just closed because of the pandemic, but it was
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: called the Grange up on Broadway. That was a good one.
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: But Plant City is the place to go right now? Okay,
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: p l A and t or is the plant just no, no,
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: just the regular like plants. It seems like a place
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: that I would avoid, like the plan Robert plant Or
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: isn't does he? I did miss it? I said, it
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: sounds like a place i'd avoid, like the play. Yes
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: it is, yes, yes, no, me, you and I? You
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: and I? Right. Even Fred walks in the door and
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: the majority is like, we don't serve your kind. It's
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: like when you go into micro Bruce, can I get
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: a look at you? They don't served right? He goes
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: in there to start fights with people. You mean, all right,
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: well listen, that's it. Yeah, come on meeting. Actually he
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: always has. He's got a lot, a lot of meetings. Yeah. Um,
