- 0:57Speaker 2: All right, welcome board. It is the seven o'clock hour
- 1:00Speaker 2: that means it's time to officially start the weekend. Let
- 1:04Speaker 2: the worries go, say, let's have some fun on a
- 1:08Speaker 2: Friday and tonight for the McCullough family. Christine Nicholas is
- 1:13Speaker 2: going to be a fun night because my fifteen year
- 1:16Speaker 2: old becomes a sixteen year old today and he has
- 1:20Speaker 2: he has asked that we, for the first time allow
- 1:24Speaker 2: him to experience Oma case. So we're going to do
- 1:28Speaker 2: some Oma case after after I get done with the
- 1:31Speaker 2: show tonight, and it'll be his first. He's had sushi before,
- 1:36Speaker 2: but he's never had a case.
- 1:37Speaker 3: So what it explain?
- 1:39Speaker 2: What Olma case is Olma case For all the food
- 1:42Speaker 2: people in the audience that already know, please forgive my
- 1:46Speaker 2: poor explanation of this. It's the chef preparing what you're
- 1:50Speaker 2: having as you have it. So you sit at the counter,
- 1:54Speaker 2: they make that round, they use serve it to you,
- 1:58Speaker 2: and then you enjoy that and then they make the
- 2:00Speaker 2: next round. So it's it'll be like, I don't know,
- 2:02Speaker 2: twelve or fifteen rounds, but it's it's very special.
- 2:05Speaker 3: And you have a special place for this. I mean,
- 2:07Speaker 3: are you well he's.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Got Yeah, we're not going to one of the like
- 2:10Speaker 2: you can you can drop one thousand dollars a plate
- 2:13Speaker 2: in New York City on the best of makassi that
- 2:15Speaker 2: we have, but we're not going there.
- 2:17Speaker 3: So is it omakase for beginners?
- 2:22Speaker 4: Well?
- 2:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I think I think ours will still
- 2:25Speaker 2: be like you know, a buck fifty a plate something
- 2:27Speaker 2: like that. But it's a special thing because he is
- 2:31Speaker 2: starting to He's kind of like mom in that he
- 2:35Speaker 2: loves food and he's starting to expand his palette, and
- 2:37Speaker 2: we want we want to introduce him to things that
- 2:39Speaker 2: are going to culturally enrich him. So if any of
- 2:42Speaker 2: our kids dig sushi then and they want to take
- 2:45Speaker 2: the next step, then on a special occasion, we'll do
- 2:47Speaker 2: this for him. And it's going to be an exciting night.
- 2:50Speaker 2: So I'm looking forward to that.
- 2:51Speaker 5: Well, happy birthday. That is a big milestone. That's an
- 2:54Speaker 5: exciting one. So I'm glad you're all going to be
- 2:57Speaker 5: able to enjoy it together.
- 2:58Speaker 3: So, Kevin, how is your.
- 3:01Speaker 2: So far? So good? I've still got some editing to
- 3:04Speaker 2: do for the TV show for the weekend, but we're
- 3:06Speaker 2: killing it. And because of that, I missed the Broadway
- 3:09Speaker 2: Association meeting yesterday, in which I understand that Tom Harris
- 3:14Speaker 2: really liked.
- 3:14Speaker 6: It, which is good because he's.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Normally sitting next to me at the table just grimacing
- 3:19Speaker 2: about how terrible they are. Oh, Doc kiddy, I'm totally kidding,
- 3:23Speaker 2: but no. He said it was one of the best
- 3:24Speaker 2: ones he'd been at, and I noted that I wasn't there.
- 3:28Speaker 2: So I'm assuming that the reason it was so good
- 3:30Speaker 2: was because I was in his lunch mate.
- 3:32Speaker 3: That could be I can see that perspective.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Yes, no, I think that's it for sure.
- 3:37Speaker 5: Well, it was a reporter's roundtable, and we had four
- 3:40Speaker 5: excellent reporters. We had Katie Honen, we had Samantha Liepman,
- 3:47Speaker 5: we had Dave Seifman formerly the New York Post, and
- 3:49Speaker 5: way at Eileen la Palmer. And what brings all of
- 3:52Speaker 5: these city hall reporters together is something called the Inner Circle,
- 3:56Speaker 5: which has been a tradition on lampooning the.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Mayor, if you will.
- 4:01Speaker 5: It started back in nineteen twenty five, where they would
- 4:04Speaker 5: do a roast. It's a little bit like what's going
- 4:05Speaker 5: to happen in Washington this weekend with the Washington Correspondence dinner,
- 4:09Speaker 5: but this includes it's of course, because it's New York City,
- 4:12Speaker 5: it has to have a musical. It has to have
- 4:14Speaker 5: singing and dancing, because many of our friends who are
- 4:18Speaker 5: delivering the local news are you know, they were big
- 4:21Speaker 5: high school musical you know, got folks or a college there.
- 4:27Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 4:28Speaker 3: So it was a lot of fun, and.
- 4:32Speaker 5: You know, we'd looked back and of course one of
- 4:35Speaker 5: the reporters, Knnie Honan, and we kind of saved it
- 4:38Speaker 5: from midway through. You know, she herself became very famous
- 4:42Speaker 5: because you know, the question was, well, ken reporters really
- 4:44Speaker 5: make a difference anymore because there's been decimating of the newsrooms.
- 4:49Speaker 3: And then we remarked how she was.
- 4:52Speaker 5: The reporter that the deputy mayor under Mayor Adams, who
- 4:56Speaker 5: then of course got arrested for bribery at it pres conference,
- 5:00Speaker 5: handed her a bag of potato chips and she wasn't
- 5:04Speaker 5: sure why this deputy mayor was handing her a bag
- 5:06Speaker 5: of potato chips, and she looked in and there was
- 5:08Speaker 5: a wad of cash in it, and that became very
- 5:12Speaker 5: public and you know, of course the showd yes, well
- 5:16Speaker 5: that was Katie Honan. So you know, reporters certainly can
- 5:19Speaker 5: make a difference. I mean, she may have been instrumental.
- 5:22Speaker 5: I mean, it wasn't her fault, but if she didn't
- 5:25Speaker 5: report it, you know, a string of arrests and indictment,
- 5:29Speaker 5: you know, all of that that happened in the Adams administration.
- 5:31Speaker 2: So so it was it was a lot of sun
- 5:34Speaker 2: was she parodied in the production.
- 5:36Speaker 3: The show, she is part of the production.
- 5:39Speaker 5: Yes, she is an actress in the Inner Circle.
- 5:41Speaker 3: So it's a great organization. You should check it out.
- 5:44Speaker 5: And it fits nicely with this time of year because
- 5:46Speaker 5: this is the time of year that you.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Have many Broadway openings.
- 5:50Speaker 5: I mean this week alone, I went to Fallen Angels
- 5:54Speaker 5: and to Rocky Horror, and next week Dog Day Afternoon
- 5:59Speaker 5: went to Beach is the follow you know?
- 6:01Speaker 3: Last week.
- 6:02Speaker 5: I mean, it's just been a lot and so I
- 6:06Speaker 5: thank my family for allowing me to really go out
- 6:10Speaker 5: so often to do them do my job. But they understand,
- 6:14Speaker 5: and I think when dad's home without me, they get
- 6:16Speaker 5: away with a lot more anyway, So they're.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Probably well, that's you know, dads are fun.
- 6:23Speaker 3: That's yeah, they are.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Part of the that's part of the problem. Well cool,
- 6:27Speaker 2: So it's it's been a good week. And are you
- 6:30Speaker 2: starting to get excited about what you think that Tony's
- 6:33Speaker 2: are going to produce this year? Do you think you
- 6:35Speaker 2: have a beat on at least one or two that
- 6:38Speaker 2: you think you have your eye on that are going
- 6:40Speaker 2: to do well.
- 6:41Speaker 5: I think there are some really fun shows, you know.
- 6:45Speaker 5: Titanique is one of those shows that I think you'll
- 6:49Speaker 5: be fabulous Marlon Mindell former Ellen Stardusteiner.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Superstar getting around it.
- 6:55Speaker 5: She wrote it, Well, you know what, it was in
- 6:57Speaker 5: off Broadway, so now it's on Broadway.
- 7:00Speaker 3: That's the Yeah.
- 7:00Speaker 5: The only way you can qualify for Tony is if
- 7:03Speaker 5: you're on Broadway.
- 7:05Speaker 3: So you know.
- 7:05Speaker 5: There's also Just in Time, which was which was fabulous.
- 7:09Speaker 5: You know, there's just a lot out there right now.
- 7:14Speaker 5: I haven't seen Lost Boys yet, that's on the list.
- 7:17Speaker 5: I haven't seen Cats Thegelical Ball. That's the new Cats,
- 7:20Speaker 5: very different from the old Cats, as we heard from
- 7:22Speaker 5: Betty Buckley last week. So it should be an exciting
- 7:27Speaker 5: Tony's We can do a recap after the Tony Awards.
- 7:31Speaker 5: Just what I would recommend is if you can get
- 7:34Speaker 5: out there and see a Broadway show, you know, it's
- 7:37Speaker 5: definitely worth it. Every show is a bit different and unique.
- 7:40Speaker 2: I have the ones that you're pulling for for sure. Well,
- 7:43Speaker 2: it's just another reason why New York City is the
- 7:46Speaker 2: greatest city on the planet. And when it comes to
- 7:49Speaker 2: fun and nightlife and all that kind of jazz, there
- 7:52Speaker 2: is no place like Times Square on planet Earth. And
- 7:57Speaker 2: we've got a big show tonight. Tom Harris himself, so
- 8:02Speaker 2: dubbed by Michael Jay of Saturday Night Live. T Square
- 8:05Speaker 2: is going to be with us, and we've got a
- 8:07Speaker 2: couple of things to talk about, but I want to
- 8:09Speaker 2: I want to highlight one thing that is taking place
- 8:11Speaker 2: in Times Square before we go to break, and that
- 8:13Speaker 2: is on June the twenty third, the entirety of basically
- 8:18Speaker 2: the operation of Salem, New York. Joe Piscopo yours truly,
- 8:23Speaker 2: Scott Jennings. You might know him from CNN, but he's
- 8:25Speaker 2: our new midday guy, and I think Arthur Idalla are
- 8:28Speaker 2: all going to be part of a Times Square broadcast
- 8:32Speaker 2: to the nation where we're going to celebrate America two
- 8:36Speaker 2: fifty and we're gonna have great shows, great guests, and
- 8:39Speaker 2: you're gonna be able to come and watch us do that.
- 8:43Speaker 2: And we've got some surprises up our sleeves for different things.
- 8:47Speaker 2: I'm working on something I'm particularly excited about that might
- 8:49Speaker 2: be musically related, but every show is going to have
- 8:53Speaker 2: something cool, and we just want you to come and
- 8:55Speaker 2: see us. On June the twenty third. It's going to
- 8:57Speaker 2: be an amazing celebrate two fifty years of America's founding history,
- 9:03Speaker 2: and it's going to be none other than Times Square,
- 9:05Speaker 2: which is the intersection of the world. It's the most
- 9:07Speaker 2: important place in terms of watching just life happen and
- 9:11Speaker 2: all the people that are there all the time. So
- 9:13Speaker 2: it's really cool and me listening to AM nine to
- 9:16Speaker 2: seventy the answer for more information about that day and
- 9:19Speaker 2: everything that's going to be involved. But it's going to
- 9:20Speaker 2: be a lot of fun, and I hope, I hope
- 9:22Speaker 2: people will come and join us.
- 9:24Speaker 5: June twenty third Live, so seven pm we will be there,
- 9:28Speaker 5: Arthur I day, I will be there at sixty am.
- 9:30Speaker 5: You'll have Joe Piscopo will start us off in the morning,
- 9:33Speaker 5: and all of the amazing hosts that are on AM
- 9:36Speaker 5: nine seventy throughout the day.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Well in my two to four show, which is on MCA,
- 9:40Speaker 2: is going to be their life that day as well,
- 9:42Speaker 2: So it's excellent. It's going to be crazy fun anyway.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Kevin McCullough, Christine Nicholas, we're coming right back from New York.

- 14:22Speaker 2: because now the Times Square Alliance, which is his baby,

- 14:37Speaker 2: they should come to New York. So, Tom Harris, welcome back.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Great to see you, and thank you for being here.
- 14:45Speaker 14: It is great to be here on a Friday night
- 14:48Speaker 14: with both of you, and we are so proud to
- 14:51Speaker 14: partner with you to get the word out that Times.
- 14:54Speaker 10: Square is the place to be in New York City.
- 14:57Speaker 14: We are here, we are welcoming, and there's a lot
- 15:00Speaker 14: of fun and exciting things going on throughout the summer
- 15:04Speaker 14: and always in Times Square.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 15:07Speaker 5: You know, Kevin, When we opened, I was mentioning about
- 15:09Speaker 5: the kind of the busy season. It is because before
- 15:12Speaker 5: the Tony Awards, all these new shows have to open
- 15:16Speaker 5: and this is the season, and I know that that
- 15:19Speaker 5: means that Tom Harris has been incredibly busy. And he
- 15:21Speaker 5: was also at the Broadway Association luncheon yesterday, and I
- 15:25Speaker 5: got the biggest shock of all when I got a
- 15:27Speaker 5: text from Tom saying that that was the best Broadway
- 15:30Speaker 5: Association luncheon ever, and it was a reporter's roundtable on
- 15:34Speaker 5: Mandamie's one hundred days, but it was also like a
- 15:37Speaker 5: look back. So thank you, Tom Harris. I truly appreciate
- 15:41Speaker 5: your saying that. But so, what's you know with the
- 15:44Speaker 5: Broadway openings. You've got a huge event coming up this Saturday.
- 15:50Speaker 5: I know it's for Earth Day. You know it's to
- 15:52Speaker 5: celebrate Earth Day, but you're celebrating with a lot of
- 15:55Speaker 5: Broadway stars.
- 15:56Speaker 3: You want to fill us in.
- 15:57Speaker 10: Yes we are in first go off. Thank you for
- 15:59Speaker 10: telling a whole world.
- 16:00Speaker 14: But my Broadway Association lunch was one that we didn't
- 16:03Speaker 14: talk about Broadway at all.
- 16:05Speaker 9: So that's that's my best one.
- 16:09Speaker 2: I know why Tom text you didn't put me at
- 16:11Speaker 2: his table.
- 16:11Speaker 15: I did.
- 16:12Speaker 2: He didn't have to put up with me for the launch.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Kevin didn't vacation time.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Like, tell me, great, this is awesome, let's do it again.
- 16:19Speaker 5: In fairness, it was about the Inner Circle, which is
- 16:22Speaker 5: how the reporters that roast the mayor, but they do
- 16:26Speaker 5: it theatrically it becomes a musical performance. So we gave
- 16:30Speaker 5: them the stage of the Broadway Association. So it was
- 16:32Speaker 5: an intermixing of both Broadway and politics and press it was.
- 16:37Speaker 3: It was a lot of fun, and that's.
- 16:38Speaker 14: A fundraise for a really great cause. Supporting are the media,
- 16:43Speaker 14: supporting the press, and uh, it was. It was nice
- 16:46Speaker 14: to hear that perspective from from those folks. So tomorrow,
- 16:51Speaker 14: Time Square we are celebrating our day, Broadway celebrating Earth Day.
- 16:56Speaker 10: We have a jam packed show in our.
- 16:59Speaker 14: Pedestrian plot between forty sixth and forty seventh, free and
- 17:03Speaker 14: open to everyone from eleven until three pm. We will
- 17:07Speaker 14: have Broadway performers out there in partnership with the Broadway
- 17:12Speaker 14: Green Alliance to celebrate the Earth and that we need
- 17:17Speaker 14: to cherish our natural resources and make sure that they
- 17:21Speaker 14: are here for generations to come.
- 17:24Speaker 5: And this is the fifth year that you're doing this
- 17:26Speaker 5: with the Broadway Green Alliance.
- 17:28Speaker 14: It's the fifth year we're partnering with the Broadway Green Alliance,
- 17:31Speaker 14: and they have really stepped up. It's a collaborative effort
- 17:34Speaker 14: between the New York City Department of Transportation they celebrate
- 17:37Speaker 14: car Free Day, the Time Square Alliance, and the Broadway
- 17:41Speaker 14: Green Alliance. It's going to be hosted by Seth Radinski
- 17:45Speaker 14: and Anika Larson, so really really really jam packed event
- 17:52Speaker 14: with Broadway stars donating their time to support the Broadway
- 17:57Speaker 14: Green Alliance.
- 17:59Speaker 5: YEP and some of the performances for the first time
- 18:02Speaker 5: since Beautiful the Carol King Musical, Tony winning Jesse Mueller,
- 18:06Speaker 5: who is just fantastic will again be with Annaka Larson
- 18:10Speaker 5: and Jared Specter.
- 18:11Speaker 3: That's going to be fun. I think that you're Last year.
- 18:15Speaker 5: The attendance was about twenty five thousand, which is huge,
- 18:20Speaker 5: with an additional seventy five thousand passing three Times Squares
- 18:23Speaker 5: supposed to be rainy tomorrow, show must go on, Tom Harris,
- 18:28Speaker 5: rain or shine, the.
- 18:29Speaker 10: Show must go on.
- 18:30Speaker 14: That's the Broadway motto, and that is our motto in
- 18:33Speaker 14: Times Square. Regardless of the weather, people will be in
- 18:36Speaker 14: Times Square and we want to surprise and delight them
- 18:39Speaker 14: with this magnificent Broadway performance free and it's an opportunity
- 18:44Speaker 14: to stop by before you're matinee, or just even if
- 18:47Speaker 14: you're in Times Square, check out everything that's great on Broadway.
- 18:51Speaker 14: Stop by the TKTS boothed by a discount ticket.
- 18:55Speaker 10: And go see you matinee to get out of the rain.
- 18:58Speaker 5: And again let's just go over the time and the
- 19:01Speaker 5: actual location and how people can enter and access because
- 19:05Speaker 5: it's probably. Is it cordoned off?
- 19:08Speaker 3: Is it seated? What's how does it look?
- 19:10Speaker 10: Both?
- 19:10Speaker 14: You can stand, you can sit, You can enter on
- 19:13Speaker 14: the Broadway Plaza between forty six and forty seven. Get
- 19:17Speaker 14: there a little bit early, and it promises to be
- 19:20Speaker 14: a great day.
- 19:22Speaker 5: I don't know if you've had the opportunity, Kevin to
- 19:24Speaker 5: go to this, but it really is a fabulous, fabulous
- 19:27Speaker 5: celebration of all things great with Broadway, but also the
- 19:31Speaker 5: time Square Alliance puts on some of the most fabulous,
- 19:34Speaker 5: big public events, and the fact that it's that it's
- 19:38Speaker 5: partnering with the Broadway Green Alliances.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Gives it a cool factor as well.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Yeah, you've got like all of the best people from
- 19:47Speaker 2: all of the best shows performing. Can you just give
- 19:50Speaker 2: us a sample of what's going to be on stage?
- 19:53Speaker 14: You know you always stop me and whenever you do this,
- 19:55Speaker 14: I am always going to forget something.
- 19:58Speaker 10: So we have and now I have to read my notes, Kevin.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Some of the featured artists include.
- 20:07Speaker 5: Sorry to make you work on a Friday, Tom Harris,
- 20:11Speaker 5: So I.
- 20:12Speaker 13: Know it's late.
- 20:13Speaker 2: He hasn't had his NEGRONI yet.
- 20:14Speaker 10: I know I have that. Don't listen.
- 20:16Speaker 16: It's it's after five o'clock, Kevin, We're good, okay. So anyway,
- 20:23Speaker 16: we have a time Tony nominee, Kelly O'Hara from The
- 20:26Speaker 16: King and I Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominee, MICHAELA.
- 20:31Speaker 16: Jay Rodriguez Emmy winner and Tony and Grammy nominee, Liz
- 20:37Speaker 16: call Away Critics Choice Award nominee Patrick Bell.
- 20:41Speaker 10: We have a whole lot of kids who are going
- 20:43Speaker 10: to be performed.
- 20:44Speaker 14: We have some high school students who were going to perform,
- 20:47Speaker 14: and that's the next generation of Broadway stars. So check
- 20:52Speaker 14: out our website. We have in the Broadway Green Alliances website.
- 20:57Speaker 14: We have the full list of performing is there and
- 21:01Speaker 14: it's going to be a great day.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:04Speaker 5: And by the way, Kelly O'Hara opened up this week
- 21:07Speaker 5: in Fallen Angels with Rose Burn.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, hilarious.
- 21:11Speaker 5: Now you kind of like she's a little bit like
- 21:14Speaker 5: classical Broadway and she also go, you know, does opera.
- 21:18Speaker 5: But this was slapstick humor from a play that was
- 21:22Speaker 5: written in nineteen twenty four.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Yeah. So it's a play written.
- 21:26Speaker 5: In nineteen twenty four, like you know, it was just
- 21:30Speaker 5: the golden era, was It takes place in London. But
- 21:33Speaker 5: it's absolutely hilarious of two women neighbors getting together while
- 21:36Speaker 5: their husbands are out of golf, and what do they do.
- 21:40Speaker 5: They of course start cracking open the champagne, and then
- 21:43Speaker 5: it just becomes funnier and funnier, and in fact, the
- 21:47Speaker 5: both actors lost the fourth wall and just started giggling,
- 21:51Speaker 5: and they kept the champagne glasses over their faces to
- 21:55Speaker 5: try to hide the fact that they were laughing. And
- 21:58Speaker 5: then the place went nuts, and I think there was
- 22:01Speaker 5: just laughing and clapping for a good minute or so
- 22:05Speaker 5: in the middle of a play. You don't see that
- 22:07Speaker 5: very often. And then of course they gained their composure
- 22:10Speaker 5: and they went on with the show.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Fallen angels got to see it.
- 22:13Speaker 14: Well, that's the beauty of the live performance. Every show
- 22:17Speaker 14: is unique, every show is different. The audience really gets
- 22:20Speaker 14: a charge, and that's why you should go see shows
- 22:24Speaker 14: more than once, because every experience of a show is
- 22:28Speaker 14: different from a different see with it at a different
- 22:31Speaker 14: on a different day. We're also going to have special
- 22:34Speaker 14: appearances by the Tony Tony winner Julie Houston from in
- 22:38Speaker 14: Just Like That, an actor comedian Asif Manva hilarious.
- 22:43Speaker 3: He's so fun.

- 23:49Speaker 17: are less likely to produce as real objective in the

- 23:55Speaker 17: regime has spent forty seven years attempting to imminentize their

- 24:08Speaker 17: to imminentize the regime's escaton by forcing the cracks between

- 27:05Speaker 1: The Answer from New York It's Radio Night Life with
- 27:13Speaker 1: Kevin McCullough.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Welcome Back. It is the Fun Friday version of Radio
- 27:20Speaker 2: Night Live as we continue our fifth anniversary season. We
- 27:24Speaker 2: just kicked it off, you know, a few weeks ago
- 27:25Speaker 2: in an undisclosed location, and Tom Harris was there and
- 27:29Speaker 2: he said some nice things to us, and it was very,
- 27:31Speaker 2: very grand. He came back tonight and I gotta say, Christine,
- 27:35Speaker 2: we were talking about Kelly O'Hare in the last segment.
- 27:38Speaker 2: I'd buy a ticket to hear her read the phone
- 27:39Speaker 2: Book like I'm a I'm a whole hair fan. So anyway, Tom,
- 27:44Speaker 2: besides the big events in Times Square, there's there's an
- 27:49Speaker 2: opportunity to experience Times Square from let's say an elevated perspective,
- 27:56Speaker 2: two or three spots, maybe maybe a dozen in the
- 27:59Speaker 2: Times Square. But I don't think Christine, we've ever talked
- 28:02Speaker 2: about these before.
- 28:03Speaker 5: No, we haven't, because when you're to me, when you're
- 28:05Speaker 5: in Times Square, you want to be like on the
- 28:07Speaker 5: street level because there's so much going on, it's so exciting.
- 28:11Speaker 5: And then you know, when Danny Meyer redid the view
- 28:13Speaker 5: at the Marriott Marquis, I think a lot of people
- 28:16Speaker 5: were more understanding that, oh.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Wait a second, they have these views up above.
- 28:21Speaker 5: And then of course you had one Times Square that
- 28:24Speaker 5: just recently opened as well, and they're all about the
- 28:26Speaker 5: view so you see it from a different angle. But
- 28:29Speaker 5: there's a whole bunch on the Times Square Alliance website
- 28:32Speaker 5: of these bars, these rooftop bars, you know, Tom Harris
- 28:35Speaker 5: walk us through because this is a great opportunity to
- 28:37Speaker 5: have a meal, have a drink in a little bit
- 28:40Speaker 5: more of a quiet setting and then go back down
- 28:43Speaker 5: to the hustle and bustle and the excitement of Time Square.
- 28:46Speaker 14: So if it's Friday night, right after we've finished listening
- 28:49Speaker 14: to your show, we drink in Times Square.
- 28:52Speaker 10: I mean, that is the high of our week, so
- 28:55Speaker 10: let's do it. And those are us and the gronies
- 28:58Speaker 10: are us. So yes, there's a lot of exciting places.
- 29:01Speaker 14: Time Square is exciting on the ground level, but also
- 29:04Speaker 14: exciting high top in the rooftop bar. So we have
- 29:08Speaker 14: fifteen rooftop bars in Times Square, more coming, more being planned.
- 29:13Speaker 10: But you can go and sit outside.
- 29:15Speaker 14: It's going to be fifty four degrees right after this show,
- 29:19Speaker 14: and we could sit outside on the rooftop bar, have
- 29:23Speaker 14: a drink and just look at the skyline and all
- 29:26Speaker 14: that's great around Times Square. On our website we have
- 29:29Speaker 14: a rooftop dining guide. If you go to TSQ dot
- 29:32Speaker 14: org type in rooftop dining you can get the list
- 29:35Speaker 14: of fifteen. But I want to focus on too, that
- 29:38Speaker 14: a brand new the Voco roof Bar at one seventy
- 29:41Speaker 14: West forty eighth Street at the new Vocal Times Square
- 29:45Speaker 14: Broadway Hotel that is right at forty eighth and seventh
- 29:49Speaker 14: they Avenue, they have a brand new rooftop bar. And
- 29:51Speaker 14: then we have Bar Lola at three forty six West
- 29:55Speaker 14: forty sixth Street on Restaurant Row. It's the newest addition
- 29:58Speaker 14: to Restaurant Row and opened in March of twenty twenty six,
- 30:03Speaker 14: and there's a great outdoor space there. So so check
- 30:06Speaker 14: out the full list. There's a plenty of places to
- 30:10Speaker 14: drink everything in Times Square.
- 30:14Speaker 5: Well, I know, Kevin, you've been to Behavin Rooftop, I believe, right,
- 30:17Speaker 5: And it's a few Okay.
- 30:19Speaker 2: What I like about what I like about the rooftop pads,
- 30:22Speaker 2: and it's not just exclusively drinking. If you're not an alcoholic,
- 30:25Speaker 2: you can get food at these places too. But what
- 30:30Speaker 2: I like about it is that Times Square is by
- 30:35Speaker 2: necessity the most entertaining intersection in the universe and to
- 30:40Speaker 2: watch it on the ground level is it gives you
- 30:43Speaker 2: one perspective for sure. But if you're on one of
- 30:45Speaker 2: these rooftops and you get to watch kind of from like,
- 30:48Speaker 2: you know, god looking at the ant perspective, it's kind
- 30:51Speaker 2: of fun to see the activity all, you know, from
- 30:54Speaker 2: just that altered perspective. And I noticed, Tom, you've got
- 30:56Speaker 2: some that are as high as like thirty eight floors up,
- 30:59Speaker 2: which is the Interlude rooftop, and then you've got someone
- 31:02Speaker 2: like sixteen floors up, and you know, varying degrees of
- 31:05Speaker 2: where you could take in these scenes and kind of
- 31:07Speaker 2: experience something that you think, you know from a completely
- 31:10Speaker 2: different viewpoint.
- 31:12Speaker 14: Yeah, it's great, it's amazing, you get fresh air. It
- 31:16Speaker 14: really is just as a great different type of experience
- 31:21Speaker 14: being outside. And we see a lot of the outdoor
- 31:24Speaker 14: dining on the street level. This is a new way
- 31:27Speaker 14: to have outdoor dining and have that drink.
- 31:30Speaker 3: Yeah, and you know it's fun. Kevin too.
- 31:32Speaker 5: A lot of the you know, the New Yorkers that
- 31:35Speaker 5: are joining us that listen to us regularly, this is
- 31:38Speaker 5: an opportunity to almost be a tourist in your own
- 31:40Speaker 5: town because a lot of the tourists who are in
- 31:41Speaker 5: the hotels in Times Square, they do get that, they
- 31:44Speaker 5: do get that view from above. But this is not
- 31:47Speaker 5: just for tourists. This is for New Yorkers. There's a
- 31:49Speaker 5: great one called Bar fifty four. It's on the fifty
- 31:52Speaker 5: fourth floor of the Hyatt centric Times Square and Bar
- 31:55Speaker 5: fifty four is becoming a great local hangout.
- 31:59Speaker 3: So that's that's a fun place to go to.
- 32:03Speaker 10: And they have great, great.
- 32:05Speaker 14: Different cocktails, so it's not just the normal thing of
- 32:10Speaker 14: their own lends on things.
- 32:11Speaker 10: And that drink that we've had at.
- 32:13Speaker 5: That show was absolutely human and Arthur's one thousand dollar
- 32:16Speaker 5: idelsy it had absence and prosecco, which wo okay eat
- 32:22Speaker 5: something with that.
- 32:23Speaker 3: That's what I would say.
- 32:25Speaker 2: That's the beauty of the few places. But again, if
- 32:27Speaker 2: you want to say the whole list off TSQ got bored.
- 32:33Speaker 10: Dining guide, you just type in guy.
- 32:39Speaker 2: That's great.
- 32:39Speaker 10: Tom.
- 32:40Speaker 2: Always great to see you, Thanks for coming back and
- 32:42Speaker 2: celebrating ours.
- 32:44Speaker 5: Let's ago, Thanks for your time and don't go away, folks,
- 32:47Speaker 5: because we have a brand new guest, Dan Taylor, who
- 32:50Speaker 5: took over forty four and ten, which is a fabulous restaurant.
- 32:54Speaker 3: On forty fourth Avenue.
- 32:56Speaker 5: So if you're going to come up next and tell
- 32:57Speaker 5: us about why.
- 32:59Speaker 3: Is this what you do because we don't want to
- 33:01Speaker 3: see any rest, come right back.
- 33:07Speaker 11: And now it's time for the cath corner.
- 33:10Speaker 15: This is John Cassingteti's Leadership matters. Two types of leadership,
- 33:14Speaker 15: whether you're in politics or whether you're in the corporate world.
- 33:17Speaker 15: If you're in politics, is a great divide between Democrats
- 33:20Speaker 15: and Republicans. I remember the days when newk Ingridge and
- 33:23Speaker 15: Bill Clinton, they didn't like each other, but they sat
- 33:26Speaker 15: around the table and they made peace with each other.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Ronald Reagan, Tip O'Neil.
- 33:30Speaker 15: They didn't like each other, but at the end of
- 33:32Speaker 15: the day, they sat down around a round table and
- 33:35Speaker 15: guess what, they made a deal that was good for America.
- 33:38Speaker 15: So I call upon all politicians common sense, no nonsense.
- 33:42Speaker 15: Leaders in the corporate world have to find out and
- 33:45Speaker 15: know what's going on, whether they're there or not there.
- 33:47Speaker 15: There's no old Greek expressions. Don't let the violin play
- 33:51Speaker 15: behind your back. Leaders don't shut doors. They make sure
- 33:54Speaker 15: this door is open and always know what's going on

- 37:10Speaker 2: Potion Flati, Welcome back. It's Fun Friday at Radio Night Live,
- 37:16Speaker 2: and we are having some fun. We're talking about fun things,
- 37:18Speaker 2: fun places to go. And Christine, speaking of fun places
- 37:22Speaker 2: to go in Times Square, which has been the theme
- 37:25Speaker 2: of the night, introduce our next guest.
- 37:27Speaker 5: I'm happy to I mean, we are in Times Square,
- 37:29Speaker 5: but we're going to go a little bit west to
- 37:31Speaker 5: what we call Hell's Kitchen. And there is a wonderful
- 37:35Speaker 5: restaurant that has been around for twenty five years. So
- 37:39Speaker 5: many people feel so strongly about this restaurant. You know,
- 37:42Speaker 5: they have regulars and newcomers. It's forty four and x
- 37:48Speaker 5: or forty four and tenth and we have the new owner,
- 37:52Speaker 5: Dan Taylor, who's joining us tonight for the first time.
- 37:54Speaker 5: So welcome to Radio Night Live. And what I want
- 37:56Speaker 5: to thank you, Daniel, because you're keeping this going. You know,
- 38:02Speaker 5: we were so concerned when we heard that Sarti's was
- 38:04Speaker 5: going to be closing, but luckily it's just closing for
- 38:07Speaker 5: a renovation and it will be opened up again in
- 38:09Speaker 5: the fall. When Barbetta closed, everybody was hoping that Barbetta
- 38:14Speaker 5: would have a new owner, but that didn't work out.
- 38:17Speaker 5: There was another French restaurant in Hell's Kitchen that also
- 38:20Speaker 5: after forty years, closed where the owners just decided it
- 38:24Speaker 5: was time.
- 38:25Speaker 3: You know, but you saw this differently, So tell us
- 38:28Speaker 3: about the next.
- 38:31Speaker 5: Iteration of this wonderful mainstay in Hell's Kitchen.
- 38:36Speaker 24: Yeah, so funny story. What I kind of set out
- 38:39Speaker 24: to look for something different. I've owned my businesses before
- 38:41Speaker 24: in the past. I wanted to kind of make a
- 38:43Speaker 24: shift with my life and I was completely unaware of
- 38:45Speaker 24: this restaurant. So I looked at several other places and
- 38:49Speaker 24: finally met up with the broker of forty four and
- 38:52Speaker 24: ten and went in there and immediately just felt at home.
- 38:55Speaker 5: You know.
- 38:55Speaker 24: We sat down in the corner and I thought, you know,
- 38:57Speaker 24: this is great. I love the ambiance, I love the
- 38:59Speaker 24: vibe here. This is fantastic. Had no clue that it
- 39:02Speaker 24: had been open for twenty five years, had no idea
- 39:05Speaker 24: that the previous owners were thinking about closing it down.
- 39:07Speaker 24: Like some of the other restaurants, they had gotten to
- 39:09Speaker 24: that point where, you know, they wanted to retire, they
- 39:12Speaker 24: wanted to enjoy the rest of their life, and they
- 39:13Speaker 24: had done what they needed to do, and you know
- 39:15Speaker 24: kind of wanted to move on with everything.
- 39:17Speaker 13: So I kind of got the story.
- 39:18Speaker 24: In the low down the day that I met the broker,
- 39:22Speaker 24: and you know, a few days after when I was
- 39:24Speaker 24: talking to the owners and it just turned out it,
- 39:27Speaker 24: you know, was a great deal. You know, they were
- 39:28Speaker 24: ready to ready to exit and I was ready to enter.
- 39:31Speaker 24: And the price was right, and the ambiance was great,
- 39:34Speaker 24: the location was fantastic. So it all just kind of
- 39:37Speaker 24: worked out.
- 39:37Speaker 13: It was.
- 39:37Speaker 5: It was a really good deal, and the menu will
- 39:41Speaker 5: remain pretty much the same.
- 39:43Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 39:44Speaker 24: Yeah, I've been kind of paying close attention to see
- 39:46Speaker 24: if we need to change anything or make any adjustments,
- 39:49Speaker 24: and people.
- 39:49Speaker 5: Love the menu, would walk us through the menu if
- 39:52Speaker 5: we haven't been, Like, what kind of food is?
- 39:53Speaker 24: Yeah, yeah, So it's upscale American dining. So it's a
- 39:56Speaker 24: very robust menu. So you can come in and have
- 39:58Speaker 24: a burger or a casadia, or you can flip over
- 40:01Speaker 24: and do filet mignon or stig Fritz, seabassu, parmesan crusta tilapia.
- 40:07Speaker 13: So there's there's a little bit of something for everybody there.
- 40:10Speaker 5: Okay, but I do notice that there is one change
- 40:12Speaker 5: which I think is absolutely fun and festive and fits.
- 40:16Speaker 3: The Broadway world.
- 40:17Speaker 5: But your your bartenders have come up with new names
- 40:20Speaker 5: of some cocktails. So I'm just going to say the
- 40:23Speaker 5: bet Mitzer instead of the bet Okay, you got the
- 40:26Speaker 5: bet Mitzer. You have the Idina mescal.
- 40:29Speaker 3: Yeah, And I think it was another.
- 40:32Speaker 10: One they do.
- 40:33Speaker 24: They do a lot of fun play on words for
- 40:35Speaker 24: a lot of the Broadway players or a lot of
- 40:36Speaker 24: the performers. And you know, coincidentally, I had kind of
- 40:40Speaker 24: gotten a little stargazed by we had Audra McDonald in
- 40:43Speaker 24: the restaurant just a few days ago, and I had
- 40:45Speaker 24: completely forgotten.
- 40:46Speaker 13: That we had Audra mcdone Julio.
- 40:48Speaker 24: We didn't ave a drink after her, so I had
- 40:51Speaker 24: completely forgotten when she was there to actually say, hey, look,
- 40:54Speaker 24: we've got a drink named after you.
- 40:56Speaker 5: But and there's been the nine to five that honors
- 41:00Speaker 5: Dolly Parton, Yeah, and or the Liza with a Fizz
- 41:03Speaker 5: honoring of course the great Lies in the La Yeah.
- 41:06Speaker 13: How much fun as we came, man, that's yeah, they're
- 41:08Speaker 13: a lot of fun.
- 41:09Speaker 24: And the staff has the staff has a good hand in,
- 41:13Speaker 24: you know, creating the drinks and the names that go
- 41:15Speaker 24: along with them. So it's nice to kind of include
- 41:17Speaker 24: everybody and be all inclusive with that stuff.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Yeah. Dan Taylor's who we're speaking with, the new owner
- 41:23Speaker 2: of forty four and ten. You grew up in a
- 41:25Speaker 2: restaurant tour home. Your mom was a restaurant tour and
- 41:29Speaker 2: in other places in the country, Arizona, in the Midwest
- 41:32Speaker 2: and so forth. What's different to you about not only
- 41:36Speaker 2: being in charge of all of it, but you know,
- 41:39Speaker 2: the locale versus the West or the Midwest and kind
- 41:43Speaker 2: of you know, What attracts you to being in Hell's
- 41:47Speaker 2: Kitchen in terms of ownership, Well.
- 41:50Speaker 24: You know, I mean every part of Manhattan has its
- 41:53Speaker 24: own little magic space, and Midtown I think is fantastic.
- 41:58Speaker 24: You know, right off of Tenth Avenue where we all are,
- 42:00Speaker 24: we're so close to I mean we're in Hell's Kitchen,
- 42:02Speaker 24: but we're so close to everything else Broadway and all
- 42:05Speaker 24: of the plays and a lot of the tourism and stuff,
- 42:08Speaker 24: you know, as opposed to Arizona and Missouri as far
- 42:11Speaker 24: as New York goes. I love the eclectic mix of everybody.
- 42:15Speaker 24: You know, you can find anything that you want here.
- 42:17Speaker 24: You can see a show, you can see people from
- 42:19Speaker 24: all over the world, you know that live here or
- 42:21Speaker 24: just visiting.
- 42:21Speaker 13: The types of.
- 42:22Speaker 24: Foods, the locations of the foods and stuff. It's just
- 42:25Speaker 24: it's amazing. I love the energy out here. I love
- 42:26Speaker 24: the people. Yeah, I mean, you can find anything that
- 42:30Speaker 24: you want. If you're bored, you've chosen to be bored.
- 42:32Speaker 24: There's always something to do or somewhere to go, or
- 42:35Speaker 24: you know what I mean. So it's great. I love
- 42:37Speaker 24: the East Coast.
- 42:37Speaker 13: And I love New York. It's great.
- 42:40Speaker 5: Yeah, I tell my kids, bored them as a luxury,
- 42:42Speaker 5: like if you can be bored, not many people, especially
- 42:45Speaker 5: people in the restaurant business.
- 42:47Speaker 13: That's always fun.
- 42:48Speaker 2: That's kind of what I was poking at, because the
- 42:51Speaker 2: restaurant industry is one of the hardest to make it
- 42:54Speaker 2: successful in. And I'm sure that your mom saw that
- 42:56Speaker 2: up and down places that she had, And there's no
- 43:00Speaker 2: bigger stage than to do food in Manhattan, and yeah,
- 43:03Speaker 2: the stakes are bigger than everywhere else, and the costs
- 43:06Speaker 2: are bigger than everywhere else.
- 43:07Speaker 24: And yeah, yeah, So that was the one thing, you know,
- 43:10Speaker 24: when I came into this restaurant, it was you know,
- 43:12Speaker 24: I had a few rules for myself when I decided
- 43:14Speaker 24: to exit my previous business and go into being a
- 43:17Speaker 24: restaurant tour again, and one of them was that it
- 43:19Speaker 24: had to be grounded and successful, profitable, and something that
- 43:23Speaker 24: people wanted to go to. You know, I didn't want
- 43:27Speaker 24: to do just you know, a McDonald's or a Wendy's
- 43:29Speaker 24: or something like that. I wanted something that people would
- 43:32Speaker 24: enjoy coming to and actually have some curated menu or
- 43:35Speaker 24: curated foods rather than you know, frozen prepared things. So
- 43:40Speaker 24: this just kind of it fit the bill.
- 43:43Speaker 5: So remind our our listeners, forty four and X location, hours,
- 43:49Speaker 5: cusine type and how to make reservations.
- 43:52Speaker 13: Yeah, so we're on open table end Rezie.

- 44:10Speaker 24: we're open every evening for dinner.

- 44:25Speaker 24: a Sioux chef, Felipe Hernandez, who is there with him.
- 44:28Speaker 24: So Mujiev and Felipe come up with a lot of

- 44:37Speaker 2: Now we're talking about reductions.
- 44:39Speaker 24: Yeah, that was the one thing that attracted me. It

- 50:58Speaker 5: their sixteen and nine, that just has of course, well,
- 51:02Speaker 5: I mean, you know what, we had to dabble a
- 51:03Speaker 5: little bit, let some of the other American LEAGUEES teams win,
