- 0:02Speaker 1: This is a bramble Jam podcast. Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark,
- 0:24Speaker 1: a Hallmark review podcast. I'm Megan and I'm a longtime
- 0:26Speaker 1: Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater. This
- 0:30Speaker 1: week we're wrapping up the final movies in twenty twenty
- 0:32Speaker 1: five's Fall into Love lineups, starting with Halout the Halloween,
- 0:36Speaker 1: which originally aired on the Hallmark Channel on Saturday, October eleventh,
- 0:40Speaker 1: twenty twenty five. You know what this means? The last
- 0:44Speaker 1: week of fall programming here on Girls Gone Hamewark. Yeah,
- 0:48Speaker 1: does this give any indication of my excitement for what's
- 0:51Speaker 1: to come? I'm drinking a tazzo joy? Oh you right now?
- 0:56Speaker 1: This is his easy. Yes, I'm excited. I did and
- 1:00Speaker 1: a little stressed, but you know, yeah, Wendy, last night
- 1:04Speaker 1: she was like, we need to meet tomorrow. We gotta
- 1:07Speaker 1: figure out our plan. A little bit of a crash out,
- 1:10Speaker 1: but that's all good stuff for the listeners, it's not
- 1:13Speaker 1: you know. Yes, Countdown to Christmas will begin this Friday.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Can you believe that? I'm excited? I'm really excited, but
- 1:22Speaker 1: I am a little bit surprised by how quickly it
- 1:25Speaker 1: snuck up on me. I know almost because life is
- 1:28Speaker 1: happening around us in big ways, and so I think
- 1:34Speaker 1: the fact that it's here again feels like, oh, I'm
- 1:38Speaker 1: not prepared, yeah, but also very excited. Can I tell
- 1:43Speaker 1: you before we even get into our review here, I'm
- 1:46Speaker 1: going to talk about Christmas for a second. You know
- 1:49Speaker 1: how every year, in January or maybe it's like late December,
- 1:53Speaker 1: we'll do like our our March Madness esque. Yeah movie,
- 2:00Speaker 1: I'm really on the fence about doing it this year.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Oh yes, I agree, because last year, well, every year
- 2:06Speaker 1: it's a ton of work, yes, And last year, while
- 2:10Speaker 1: so appreciated, there were so many comments about like, you
- 2:13Speaker 1: should do it this way, you should do it that way,
- 2:14Speaker 1: you should do it this way, and I don't know
- 2:16Speaker 1: if I have the brain power too well, here are
- 2:19Speaker 1: my issues. Aside from the feedback about the way it's done.
- 2:24Speaker 1: There were some things that happened at ninety nine per Ton.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Of the people that participate are great and do it
- 2:28Speaker 1: all in good fun and make it a great time.
- 2:31Speaker 1: But there were a few things that happened last year
- 2:33Speaker 1: where people were creating new accounts just to vote, and
- 2:36Speaker 1: I feel like it's kind of not in the spirit
- 2:38Speaker 1: of what we're doing here. And then during the way
- 2:40Speaker 1: home season, we had someone purchase bots to vote on
- 2:45Speaker 1: a meaningless poll. We did, right, and it got me
- 2:49Speaker 1: thinking about the countdown to Christmas Bracket and the way
- 2:52Speaker 1: in which people can now gain the system. And I
- 2:55Speaker 1: don't really want any part of it if people are
- 2:57Speaker 1: going to be gross about it. Yeah, so I am
- 3:00Speaker 1: a little bit worried. So please let us know your
- 3:03Speaker 1: thoughts on the account on a Christmas bracket because it is,
- 3:07Speaker 1: for the most part, a good time. Yeah, it's just
- 3:09Speaker 1: for fun, but a few bad apples can spoil the
- 3:12Speaker 1: whole bunch. Yeah, and the fate of that project remains
- 3:17Speaker 1: to be seen. On the flip side of it, there's
- 3:21Speaker 1: less movies this year, sure, so it won't run as long.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Might be a little bit easier to manage as well,
- 3:28Speaker 1: So I again, I wouldn't have to do that whole
- 3:30Speaker 1: vote in bracket business exactly. Only twenty seven movies, right, exactly,
- 3:36Speaker 1: So I'm on the fence. I would love to hear
- 3:38Speaker 1: from listeners if they're like, oh my god, I look
- 3:40Speaker 1: forward to that every year. It's so much fun to
- 3:43Speaker 1: play along with. Let us know, let us know you
- 3:49Speaker 1: hold the key to the bracket in your hands because
- 3:52Speaker 1: we are highly suggestible and so really it's only going
- 3:56Speaker 1: to take a couple people to be like, oh, what
- 3:58Speaker 1: do you mean, you're not doing the racket. Totally I agree,
- 4:01Speaker 1: and we're the only ones who do it, so like
- 4:03Speaker 1: meaning like we're the only podcast who does it, and honestly,
- 4:07Speaker 1: it's a good time. It's fun. Well, speaking of the bracket,
- 4:11Speaker 1: you should be following us on Instagram work Girls Gone
- 4:14Speaker 1: Hallmark over there. That's where we find the bracket plus
- 4:16Speaker 1: breaking Hallmark news plus all kinds of fun stuff from
- 4:19Speaker 1: us over there. Also, we've been working on beefing up
- 4:23Speaker 1: our Girls Gone Hamewark TikTok account, so we are Girls
- 4:27Speaker 1: Gone Hallmark on TikTok as well. Look, if you're on TikTok,
- 4:31Speaker 1: I love TikTok everybody. I love it so much. But
- 4:34Speaker 1: we used to make so much fun of me for
- 4:35Speaker 1: my TikTok obsession. Yeah no, she's down the rabbit. I'm
- 4:38Speaker 1: obsessed with it for sure. I'm trying to be on ours.
- 4:46Speaker 2: More.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I'm just not like comfortable like making videos, but like
- 4:52Speaker 1: I have lots of ideas. Anyway, I love our TikTok.
- 4:56Speaker 1: It's fun. It's fun. Hey, let's talk real quick about
- 5:00Speaker 1: about the schedule for a countdown to Christmas. Yeah, we've
- 5:04Speaker 1: never made an official announcement about what we're going to do.
- 5:07Speaker 1: We this is the first time. We are going to
- 5:11Speaker 1: cover and review every new Hallmark movie this season, every
- 5:17Speaker 1: single one. Are you doing this series two? We're going
- 5:22Speaker 1: to do Finding Mister Christmas? Yes, Yes, can't wait. We're
- 5:24Speaker 1: going to do twelve dates till Christmas. Yes, we're gonna
- 5:27Speaker 1: do Missletoe Murders.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Yes.
- 5:29Speaker 1: As for the others, follow us on social media. That's right,
- 5:33Speaker 1: we'll talk about it there. Maybe there'll be a surprise.
- 5:35Speaker 1: So excited, so please tune in. We're going to cover
- 5:37Speaker 1: every single movie, every single new movie. I cannot wait.
- 5:41Speaker 1: I can't believe I say that our first year that
- 5:43Speaker 1: we did this, we did like one movie a week
- 5:47Speaker 1: a week. Isn't that crazy? And that here we are
- 5:50Speaker 1: So I am happy that Homewark has only got twenty
- 5:53Speaker 1: seven movies this year and not forty because I don't know.
- 5:58Speaker 1: I don't know if I could say we're doing every
- 5:59Speaker 1: new movie. No, it's much more manageable this year. I'm excited. Yeah,
- 6:03Speaker 1: so follow our Instagram, Join our Facebook group Girls Gone Hallmark.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Follow our Facebook page Girls Gone Hallmark. We will be
- 6:11Speaker 1: putting out like the weekly schedule, everything we're covering, et cetera,

- 9:57Speaker 1: and Lacey Shaver was one of her bright We're gonna
- 10:01Speaker 1: take a quick break and we'll come right back with
- 10:02Speaker 1: our first impressions. Hey, Wendy, what was your first impression
- 10:14Speaker 1: of Haul Out the Halloween? This might be the funniest,
- 10:19Speaker 1: most rewatchable Hallmark movie of the year. Ooh, my first
- 10:23Speaker 1: impression is call me spellbound. I loved this third trip
- 10:26Speaker 1: into the hall Out universe. It's so funny. You say
- 10:30Speaker 1: that because I was convinced that you liked it but
- 10:33Speaker 1: didn't love it. Oh No, while I watched I loved
- 10:38Speaker 1: this movie. I was texting Megan, who had already seen it,
- 10:41Speaker 1: and I was like, oh my god, this is so funny.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Oh my god, this line Oh my god. I was like,
- 10:45Speaker 1: she hates me right now? No, because my like to
- 10:48Speaker 1: your first impression, My like is this movie is so
- 10:51Speaker 1: joy filled. I felt the same way at the end
- 10:53Speaker 1: of the first Haul Out the Hally movie. I was
- 10:57Speaker 1: smiling while watching the credits at the end of that movie,
- 11:00Speaker 1: and I remember looking to my husband, I mean, like,
- 11:03Speaker 1: wasn't that great? He did not love that movie, and
- 11:06Speaker 1: I was disappointed when he shared that with me. And
- 11:10Speaker 1: so while I was watching this, I was thinking, I'm
- 11:13Speaker 1: so excited I'm going to get to watch this again.
- 11:16Speaker 1: I was looking forward to watching it again with him
- 11:18Speaker 1: this weekend because we watched this on a screener. Yeah,
- 11:22Speaker 1: And then I was bereft when I realized we wouldn't
- 11:26Speaker 1: be watching it again this weekend because he's not a
- 11:28Speaker 1: fan of this universe. And then I realized I have
- 11:30Speaker 1: free will and I can watch it whenever I want.
- 11:33Speaker 1: I have so many thoughts here. I remember when we
- 11:35Speaker 1: talked about Haul Out the Holly and your husband not
- 11:38Speaker 1: liking it, and I remember probably saying to you, it's
- 11:41Speaker 1: because he's a traditionalist, like he likes the Hallmark formula. Sure,
- 11:47Speaker 1: and that movie during that time was different, very right
- 11:52Speaker 1: I feel like we've gotten more movies like that. Also,
- 11:55Speaker 1: like he can't stand the Gilmore Girls of it all,
- 11:59Speaker 1: He doesn't I want like the rapid Fire. Nope, I'm
- 12:02Speaker 1: not even listening to this part because nope, I have
- 12:06Speaker 1: a feeling. Okay, wait, let's get to it in a second,
- 12:09Speaker 1: because I have a feeling that might be a complaint
- 12:13Speaker 1: of regular Hallmark fans. Well, yeah about this movie as well. Well,
- 12:18Speaker 1: that's my point though, Like it's steeped in pop culture
- 12:22Speaker 1: and rapid fire dialogue. Don't jump ahead, I'm not. I'm
- 12:27Speaker 1: just saying that for me. I'm not giving any specific examples. Now, yeah,
- 12:32Speaker 1: but for me, that's what's part of what's so great
- 12:36Speaker 1: about this I agree so, and going back to the
- 12:42Speaker 1: first movie, that style is not what resonates with him.
- 12:46Speaker 1: So anyway, his opinion is not the point here. I
- 12:51Speaker 1: loved the first Haul Out the Holly movie. I loved
- 12:54Speaker 1: this movie. I loved this movie too. Like you said,
- 12:58Speaker 1: I caught myself smiling the entire time while I'm watching this.
- 13:02Speaker 1: I'mlike a random Wednesday afternoons. I'm laughing out loud, and
- 13:08Speaker 1: my daughter's in the other room and she's like, what
- 13:10Speaker 1: are you laughing at I'm like, this movie is so
- 13:13Speaker 1: damn funny. I'm like, I really think you would like it.
- 13:17Speaker 1: My seventeen year old is not interested by any means,
- 13:19Speaker 1: but I'm like, I really think you would like it.
- 13:22Speaker 1: I could see this being a movie that people trot
- 13:24Speaker 1: out every Halloween, like this is a family Halloween movie.
- 13:27Speaker 1: This is a family Halloween movie that I will put
- 13:31Speaker 1: out every year, like hocus Pocus, like it's the Great
- 13:35Speaker 1: Pumpkin I'm going to give you. I've mentioned this before.
- 13:39Speaker 1: It probably was on our Patreon hub Halloween hub. Halloween
- 13:44Speaker 1: is a movie. We will watch it every year in
- 13:45Speaker 1: my house. It was from twenty twenty. It has Adam Sandler.
- 13:49Speaker 1: It's stupid jokes, it's twelve year old comedy, but it
- 13:54Speaker 1: makes me laugh out loud every time I watch it.
- 13:56Speaker 1: And this had a similar vibe. Interesting. So, my husband's
- 14:00Speaker 1: a big Adam Sandler fan, and over the summer went
- 14:03Speaker 1: on an Adam Sandler deep dive of the movies he
- 14:05Speaker 1: might have missed, Like, you know, he's seen all the classics,
- 14:08Speaker 1: but I don't think QUB Halloween is one that comes
- 14:11Speaker 1: to mind when you're like Adam Sandler, Like, right, he
- 14:14Speaker 1: watched that, and I was like, no, because you've mentioned
- 14:17Speaker 1: it before and I wanted to watch it with him again.
- 14:20Speaker 1: I have free will and can watch it on my own.
- 14:22Speaker 1: And now I think I have to, you have to.
- 14:24Speaker 1: This is gonna be this is gonna be my Yeah, October,
- 14:28Speaker 1: first worlds around, I'm going to watch this movie again.
- 14:30Speaker 1: I loved it that much too. I loved it. Can
- 14:33Speaker 1: we talk about the reasons why?
- 14:34Speaker 2: Yes?
- 14:35Speaker 1: Please? You and I both liked it so much. And
- 14:38Speaker 1: I know we have talked about this a million times.
- 14:40Speaker 1: You already brought it up. But the dialogue was filled
- 14:45Speaker 1: with so many pop cultural pop culture references that it
- 14:49Speaker 1: just hit and it we've talked about, like how much
- 14:52Speaker 1: we love Gilmore Girls and how Gilmore did that during
- 14:56Speaker 1: that time. Of course, the reference says much older about
- 15:01Speaker 1: shrin this was this played in an area that I
- 15:06Speaker 1: was very familiar with. Yes, I don't know if a
- 15:10Speaker 1: lot of the regular Hallmark viewers will pick up on
- 15:14Speaker 1: some of the sure, I agree references they were throwing down.
- 15:18Speaker 1: In a little bit, I'm going to talk about some
- 15:20Speaker 1: of the specifics. Yes, we'll get to it. But yeah,
- 15:22Speaker 1: the pacne right on the money. Shout out to McLean
- 15:27Speaker 1: Nelson because not only did he write it, he directed it,
- 15:31Speaker 1: and so the rapid back and forth dialogue was just
- 15:35Speaker 1: done so well. We talked about it in Home Turf too,
- 15:37Speaker 1: like a movie he also directed, Yeah You Were, You Were?
- 15:42Speaker 1: You liked in that movie. How the scenes would cut
- 15:44Speaker 1: back and forth real tightly. Yeah, yeah, And that is
- 15:49Speaker 1: that does come down to directing and editing, and it
- 15:52Speaker 1: works for me. I like that kind of paycing. I
- 15:54Speaker 1: like when it's rapid fire and it feels like natural
- 15:57Speaker 1: conversation and it doesn't feel like we got this person,
- 16:00Speaker 1: now we're shooting this person and there's an uncomfortable break.
- 16:03Speaker 1: But it was it felt like these people know each other,
- 16:08Speaker 1: these people get each other, these people have a history.
- 16:11Speaker 1: These people are firing off inside jokes and they're firing
- 16:14Speaker 1: off jabs, and this is my family and these are
- 16:17Speaker 1: my neighbors. It just felt like like this is a
- 16:20Speaker 1: movie that has these are this is a cast that
- 16:22Speaker 1: has found its stride and found its place. And I
- 16:26Speaker 1: almost felt a little bit sad by that, because I
- 16:28Speaker 1: do think this is the natural conclusion of this series. No,
- 16:32Speaker 1: I don't know where else we go from here. So
- 16:35Speaker 1: that's funny. You brought that up because I was like,
- 16:37Speaker 1: is the next movie Jared going to Vienna to do
- 16:42Speaker 1: the Santa Class essentially? Right, that's a good question. But
- 16:47Speaker 1: then then how did the Neighbors plan to that? I'm like, yeah,
- 16:50Speaker 1: because the extended cast in this movie is so good
- 16:53Speaker 1: is what makes it. Yeah, if we can go to
- 16:55Speaker 1: the beginning of the movie, yes, so we start with
- 16:58Speaker 1: a wedding, Yes, And I'm mostly really glad that we
- 17:01Speaker 1: spent like five minutes at the top of the movie
- 17:03Speaker 1: kind of bringing this full circle, like bring it home.
- 17:05Speaker 1: They're together, they're getting married. We get this, And it's
- 17:08Speaker 1: so on brand with the with the series because even
- 17:11Speaker 1: the weddings themed, it's very Fall theme. The Fall colors
- 17:14Speaker 1: are very rich, and this very easily could have been
- 17:18Speaker 1: a moment where they didn't spend a lot of time
- 17:21Speaker 1: or effort. But I thought the wedding itself was quite lovely.
- 17:25Speaker 1: I agree. Those Golden hour shots were gorgeous. Yep, you
- 17:29Speaker 1: may kiss the bride shot through the arch with the
- 17:32Speaker 1: all of their guests cheering behind them. They had a
- 17:34Speaker 1: deep cast of background actors to fill that out and
- 17:38Speaker 1: make it look like a real wedding. And then the
- 17:41Speaker 1: bubble shot as their ex exiting. Look, I have chills
- 17:46Speaker 1: right now, so do I. First of all, I forgot
- 17:48Speaker 1: about the bubble shot when we go to Disneyland. My
- 17:51Speaker 1: most favorite thing is when the kids have that bubble
- 17:53Speaker 1: wand and it's just like wrapper firing bubble walking through
- 17:57Speaker 1: their their bubble track. I love it so much, and
- 17:59Speaker 1: I I don't think I've ever seen it at a
- 18:01Speaker 1: wedding like that. No, it was great. Oh, I loved it.
- 18:04Speaker 1: I loved it. The wedding scene. You're so right, it
- 18:09Speaker 1: was shot so beautifully. What I liked about it is
- 18:13Speaker 1: that it moved their story along, Jared and Emily's storied along,
- 18:18Speaker 1: and it was five minutes. Yes. And also what I
- 18:22Speaker 1: liked about it is that we didn't get a whole
- 18:25Speaker 1: haul out the wedding movie. Yes, you know exactly. I
- 18:28Speaker 1: liked that we were moving the story along. Here is
- 18:30Speaker 1: the next part. I thought it was beautifully done. I
- 18:34Speaker 1: thought it was smart. I loved Emily's voice over explaining
- 18:37Speaker 1: like why they didn't get married at Christmas. And I
- 18:40Speaker 1: don't know if you picked it up, but they did
- 18:42Speaker 1: it because it was Jared's parents anniversary. That's the date
- 18:47Speaker 1: that they got married on and I was like, that
- 18:49Speaker 1: is the sweetest thing I've ever heard of or considered.
- 18:52Speaker 1: I loved it so much and it was such a throwaway. Yeah,
- 18:57Speaker 1: their vowels were beautiful. Yeah, it was great. It was
- 18:59Speaker 1: so great. And it also recenters us in the cast
- 19:02Speaker 1: because it gives them a natural opportunity for these people
- 19:04Speaker 1: to be back together. And so we have them getting
- 19:08Speaker 1: ready together as their wedding party, participating in the wedding,
- 19:11Speaker 1: and so it we're right back in with the Evergreen
- 19:14Speaker 1: Lane crew. Yeah, exactly, in an event that makes sense
- 19:19Speaker 1: and it's not contrived exactly. On another note, Emily as
- 19:24Speaker 1: a person around Halloween is so me. She doesn't like
- 19:27Speaker 1: scary movies and she says, I don't even like movies
- 19:30Speaker 1: that people say aren't scary but they really are. Yes, girl,
- 19:33Speaker 1: Yes I too.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:35Speaker 1: On that same note, yard yelping is a no for me. Dog,
- 19:38Speaker 1: do not jump out at me. It is a rule
- 19:41Speaker 1: in my marriage.
- 19:43Speaker 2: You know.
- 19:43Speaker 1: You see like TikTok prank videos where people are like, Nope,
- 19:47Speaker 1: that's an immediate grounds for divorce. Do not scare me.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Do not like I don't know if you can envision it,
- 19:53Speaker 1: but if you're like do you ever walk to the
- 19:55Speaker 1: house and like you look for your husband and like
- 19:57Speaker 1: mine does knows not to do this, but like they'll
- 20:00Speaker 1: hide maybe, Yeah that's a no, right, uh huh. You
- 20:04Speaker 1: like you walk into a room and you think they're
- 20:06Speaker 1: there and you're like, oh, and they're not, and then
- 20:08Speaker 1: they like jump off from behind a door. Yeah, my
- 20:10Speaker 1: daughter has done it to me, and I've pushed her before. Yeah.
- 20:14Speaker 1: I don't like being I don't find it funny. Like
- 20:15Speaker 1: to me, it's mean. I I will jump if my
- 20:18Speaker 1: husband walks into the room, speaking in full view and
- 20:23Speaker 1: I am not expecting him. I startle so easily. So
- 20:28Speaker 1: we are not a yard yelping kind of family. And
- 20:31Speaker 1: that would have ruined a friendship for me as well too.
- 20:34Speaker 1: I would have been humiliated if my friend's yard yelped me. Yeah,
- 20:37Speaker 1: that's I would carry that grudge. Yeah yeah, yeah. What
- 20:41Speaker 1: else did you like? I loved the way Jared's slow
- 20:45Speaker 1: mo realization flashback of what's happening between his mother and
- 20:50Speaker 1: Ned his crash out is done so well. I loved it.
- 20:56Speaker 1: The flashback scene says He's like, oh great great. I
- 21:02Speaker 1: also really like when they are in the attic and
- 21:05Speaker 1: we see Emily's drums. Yeah, and they say Nickelback.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:09Speaker 1: I'm like, that's a real choice. Yeah. And then we
- 21:12Speaker 1: get at the end he comes out. Now, this is like,
- 21:16Speaker 1: this is the only papuls reffers I'm gonna talk about
- 21:19Speaker 1: in this segment. This is kind of like you gotta
- 21:22Speaker 1: know to know it's a real if you know, you
- 21:23Speaker 1: know moment he's dressed as Freddy Chad Krueger, that's the
- 21:28Speaker 1: lead singer of nickel That. Yeah, but he calls himself
- 21:31Speaker 1: Chatty Krueger. Is everyone gonna get that? I don't know,
- 21:37Speaker 1: but I think so. It is so funny because I
- 21:41Speaker 1: saw the Nickelback drums and like that, that in and
- 21:43Speaker 1: of itself is funny, and to bring it around this
- 21:48Speaker 1: movie was made for me, I know, I know.
- 21:51Speaker 2: It's so good.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I agree, I agree, I agree. Steven Tobolowski and Melissa Peterman,
- 21:59Speaker 1: you okay, this is comedy gold these two together. Melissa
- 22:06Speaker 1: Peterman has not talked about enough. I've always enjoyed her.
- 22:09Speaker 1: I'm not familiar with her on her show Riba. Actually
- 22:14Speaker 1: I don't know. It's not her show, but the show
- 22:16Speaker 1: that she was on Riba. Like, character's kind of mean, like,
- 22:18Speaker 1: I love Melissa Peterman, but Barbara Jean's kind of mean.
- 22:21Speaker 1: I don't even know. I really came into like my
- 22:26Speaker 1: Melissa Peterman crush during Finding Mister Christmas, and even though
- 22:31Speaker 1: I had seen both hal at the Hauling movies at
- 22:33Speaker 1: that time too. Look, I'm all in on her and
- 22:37Speaker 1: this entire movie between her and Stephen Tobolowski. The actual
- 22:43Speaker 1: like looks of disgust that she would give him, like
- 22:46Speaker 1: so much great physical comedy, right, but just like in
- 22:50Speaker 1: a nuanced look, like she was so annoyed with him
- 22:53Speaker 1: all the time, and the way they would bicker back
- 22:55Speaker 1: and forth at with each other.
- 22:57Speaker 2: She just kiss.
- 22:59Speaker 1: It feels like such a big get that these two
- 23:01Speaker 1: are together in this movie there. Everything you said is
- 23:06Speaker 1: so accurate, but it just is like such a gift
- 23:09Speaker 1: to get them here. They're just really at the top
- 23:12Speaker 1: of their game. Still. Yeah, agree, agree more on Peterman Peterman.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Her comedic timing is just so good. In that scene
- 23:24Speaker 1: where they're at the bakeoff, Yeah, and she's like intimidating
- 23:28Speaker 1: the two new you know, neighborhood people and then she
- 23:32Speaker 1: like turns her a can. She's like those are good
- 23:34Speaker 1: cookies or whatever. She's like, is she just so funny?
- 23:38Speaker 1: And then she loses the competition and it's great physical comedy.
- 23:42Speaker 1: She passes out and wakes up in the bed and
- 23:45Speaker 1: you were there and you were there, just like the
- 23:47Speaker 1: Wizard of Oz. Oh my god, so great. I love it.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Towards the top of the movie, Emily and Jared are
- 23:56Speaker 1: still away on their honeymoon and Jared's mom doesn't want
- 23:59Speaker 1: like they're realizing they see the Halloween decorations and they're like,
- 24:04Speaker 1: we got a loop in Emily and Jared, and she's like,
- 24:06Speaker 1: don't interrupt them, and she's like, we get it. You
- 24:08Speaker 1: want grand children, barb, Like right, she just fires it
- 24:11Speaker 1: back at her. I don't know why that line made
- 24:14Speaker 1: me laugh so much, but we might cut this next
- 24:16Speaker 1: park out because I could have interpreted the scene wrong.
- 24:18Speaker 1: But it was during like the her Mary Louise's husband
- 24:23Speaker 1: was bobbing for apples, yes, yeah, and he comes for
- 24:28Speaker 1: one and then and then Pamela says to him like, oh,
- 24:31Speaker 1: you got a good one there, Mary Louise, And I
- 24:33Speaker 1: was like, what is that? Yeah, she referring to here. Yes,
- 24:37Speaker 1: I heard it too. I was like, was that like
- 24:40Speaker 1: a full BIGU sex joke. I don't know. I heard
- 24:44Speaker 1: it too, I don't know. I don't know. The title
- 24:48Speaker 1: sequence on the moving track called the Halloween on the
- 24:50Speaker 1: moving truck. Nice touch, not something we've seen before. Love that.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Tell me what else you're like. I actually really enjoyed
- 24:56Speaker 1: the overall theme that the holidays are meant for and
- 25:00Speaker 1: making memories and how to pass them down to the
- 25:04Speaker 1: next generation, and really landed for me personally as a
- 25:08Speaker 1: person who doesn't love the holidays in general, and like,
- 25:11Speaker 1: I think it's a great timely reminder about like what
- 25:15Speaker 1: the season is supposed to be. Loved that. I loved
- 25:19Speaker 1: the mount up callback from we get in the first
- 25:23Speaker 1: movie and then we kind of get the backstory in
- 25:25Speaker 1: this movie that that was Grandma's line. She says it
- 25:28Speaker 1: to them when in that scene where after Emily is
- 25:32Speaker 1: scared and then she takes Emily and Jared out on
- 25:35Speaker 1: the golf car. I just loved all of the nice
- 25:37Speaker 1: catch there. Loved it. And the last thing that I
- 25:40Speaker 1: really loved. I just thought the production design was next
- 25:44Speaker 1: level cute and recently talked about like Hobby Lobby throwing
- 25:49Speaker 1: up all over that other West Brown movie when we
- 25:53Speaker 1: just reviewed last week yeah, under the automoon. Yeah, this
- 25:56Speaker 1: one was not as like it just the Halloween tones,
- 26:01Speaker 1: Like it was Fall and Halloween together and it just
- 26:04Speaker 1: all worked for me. It wasn't just like somebody like
- 26:07Speaker 1: randomly threw up everything. I think Halloween is better than
- 26:12Speaker 1: Fall or Christmas because you're not trying to fake anything. Yeah,
- 26:15Speaker 1: you're not trying to do fake leave, You're not trying
- 26:17Speaker 1: to do fake snow. You know you can just lean
- 26:19Speaker 1: into like the Halloween witches and goblins and haunted houses. Yeaheah, Yeah, yeah,
- 26:25Speaker 1: I think we've hit just every like, well, I don't
- 26:29Speaker 1: have a single wish maybe this movie me neither not one,
- 26:32Speaker 1: and that is very rare. Yeah. I read over my
- 26:35Speaker 1: notes over and over. I thought back, I cannot come
- 26:38Speaker 1: up with a single thing I would change me neither. Well,
- 26:41Speaker 1: let's talk. Did you see that? And I think, just
- 26:43Speaker 1: to prep the listener, this is going to be a
- 26:45Speaker 1: little bit different rather than true did you see that?
- 26:48Speaker 1: Although when he does have one, it's really just we're
- 26:51Speaker 1: going to call out all those great dialogue pop culture moments.
- 26:57Speaker 1: But it hit me with your true see that moment?
- 27:01Speaker 1: This is this is another if you know you know,
- 27:04Speaker 1: and I don't know. What do you mean if you know,
- 27:06Speaker 1: you know, you gotta kind of like, oh, tell me
- 27:08Speaker 1: your you know that? Okay? So the character who plays Bucky,
- 27:13Speaker 1: he comes at the end, the brother. Yeah, who's he?
- 27:16Speaker 1: The brother of Melissa Peterman's character. Yes, Bucky is played
- 27:21Speaker 1: by one Richard Christy. Do you know that name? Only
- 27:24Speaker 1: because I've read our Instagram dms, but I don't know
- 27:26Speaker 1: who that is?
- 27:26Speaker 2: Oh?
- 27:27Speaker 1: Yes, okay. So Richard Christy was once a longtime personality
- 27:33Speaker 1: on the Howard Stern Show. You still listen to Howard
- 27:36Speaker 1: Stern a lot early two thousands, like every single day,
- 27:40Speaker 1: and that's when Richard Christy was on the show. He
- 27:42Speaker 1: he left in two thousand and four. I recognized him
- 27:47Speaker 1: right away, the voice and the f I was like, no, wait,
- 27:49Speaker 1: could that be? It's funny that you know his face
- 27:52Speaker 1: isn't radio personality? Yeah? I don't know if it's because
- 27:57Speaker 1: maybe Howard Stern at one time had an E show
- 28:01Speaker 1: where they would show the broadcast the radio broadcast, you know,
- 28:07Speaker 1: on the E channel. I can't remember if it was
- 28:08Speaker 1: around that same time. I don't know. I just know
- 28:10Speaker 1: his face, like I'm live on social media. Sure, but
- 28:13Speaker 1: this was way pre social media. So I don't know,
- 28:15Speaker 1: but you know who he is. I knew who he
- 28:17Speaker 1: was and I couldn't believe it. Yeah, that's fun. Do
- 28:20Speaker 1: you do a lot of acting? I don't know. How
- 28:23Speaker 1: does that happen? I don't know. They shot this in Utah? Like,
- 28:26Speaker 1: does he live in Utah? Does he know somebody? Does
- 28:29Speaker 1: the director know him? Does the casting agent know him?
- 28:32Speaker 2: Like?
- 28:33Speaker 1: How did that all come together? And are you like? Yeah,
- 28:36Speaker 1: I guess he's like a he's like a drummer or
- 28:38Speaker 1: too for a band. But how do you? How do you?
- 28:43Speaker 1: How does that work? I don't know. It's like seeing
- 28:46Speaker 1: your teacher in the wild. It was like that kind
- 28:48Speaker 1: of moment. It was Yeah, I was like, wait, what
- 28:52Speaker 1: so crazy? It was so crazy. I imagine that a
- 28:56Speaker 1: lot of Hallmark watchers are not Howard Stern fans. Yeah,
- 29:00Speaker 1: I don't think. I don't. My point what I was
- 29:02Speaker 1: trying to say is I don't think a lot of
- 29:03Speaker 1: people are gonna be like, oh my gosh in that moment.
- 29:06Speaker 1: But hmmm, for you it stood out. Look, I appreciated it.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Are we talking about who's not in this movie? Who
- 29:13Speaker 1: Eric maybe is? Was he in the second one? Eric
- 29:17Speaker 1: maybe is is in the second one. Okay, let's talk
- 29:21Speaker 1: some of our favorite line. Yes, please, let's just back
- 29:25Speaker 1: and forth it Okay, can I start funeral potatoes? Do
- 29:30Speaker 1: you know what funeral potatoes? That's a very utah LDS situation.
- 29:36Speaker 1: It is like a hash brown casserole that is almost
- 29:40Speaker 1: mandatory at every like church pot look and right at
- 29:45Speaker 1: the top, like Pamela makes a reference to funeral potatoes.
- 29:48Speaker 1: I don't remember who she said brought them and almost
- 29:50Speaker 1: killed her with their funeral post. It made me laugh
- 29:53Speaker 1: out loud. I don't even know how I know about
- 29:56Speaker 1: funeral potatoes social media. I've seen people. It's one of
- 29:59Speaker 1: those things that come up, I feel like on the
- 30:01Speaker 1: old Twitter, and people would be like, do you know
- 30:02Speaker 1: what funeral potatoes are? Yeah? And then all people will
- 30:04Speaker 1: be like, exactly, we said, it's a it's a church
- 30:07Speaker 1: potluck stage Yeah, crazy funny, funny, funny funny, Emily says.
- 30:11Speaker 1: I get around her and I turned plastic about Ashland.
- 30:14Speaker 1: I was like, well, thank you for the me and
- 30:16Speaker 1: girls reference. I loved it great. Mary Louise and Belinda
- 30:22Speaker 1: both drop current slang. We hear Mary Louise go, what's
- 30:26Speaker 1: the tea. I thought that was really funny. Belinda, when
- 30:30Speaker 1: she's explaining to Wes about her relationship with Ned several times,
- 30:34Speaker 1: she says, we're what the kids are calling talking, yes,
- 30:38Speaker 1: which if you don't have a teenager, you wouldn't. That's
- 30:41Speaker 1: like an according like that's when we're in the talking stage.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Oh my god, and that she was catching feelings or
- 30:48Speaker 1: I had caught feelings and Nid was a rizzler, and
- 30:52Speaker 1: Wes was like, please don't ever.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Say that again.
- 30:55Speaker 1: I just died, Wes, Wes as Jared, I died, and
- 31:00Speaker 1: I know you did to when they go to swig Alicious,
- 31:04Speaker 1: the soda shop and then they come back with their
- 31:07Speaker 1: giant styrofoam cups. Now, if you're not on dirty soda Internet,
- 31:13Speaker 1: especially in Utah, like you and I went. We were
- 31:16Speaker 1: in Utah a couple of years ago and we went
- 31:18Speaker 1: to we had to hit all the soda places. We
- 31:20Speaker 1: went to so Delicious. I don't think we went to
- 31:22Speaker 1: swig uh huh and we I gotta tell you, I'm
- 31:25Speaker 1: kind of a soda purist, like I would rather just
- 31:28Speaker 1: have a coke. Although I do like the maybe a lime,
- 31:32Speaker 1: I don't necessarily need all of the flavor really Yeah,
- 31:36Speaker 1: I think I like it was a fun experience and
- 31:38Speaker 1: they have fun desserts. Yeah, and the drive through line
- 31:41Speaker 1: was like forty five minutes long. Oh we had to go.
- 31:45Speaker 1: And also the soda was the size of my head.
- 31:47Speaker 1: I remember it being so big. But I just loved
- 31:51Speaker 1: I loved that they went there. I love that they
- 31:53Speaker 1: all come back with their cups. I love that they
- 31:55Speaker 1: call it swig delicious. Yeah, great, it was great. There
- 31:59Speaker 1: was a moment I don't need you probably didn't even
- 32:02Speaker 1: catch it, but there was. If you are a Bravo fan,
- 32:06Speaker 1: specifically a Real Housewives of Salt Lake City fan, there
- 32:10Speaker 1: was a mention about Salt Lake City and Emily says
- 32:14Speaker 1: something like, oh, they need to bring Monica back, and
- 32:17Speaker 1: if you don't watch that series, Monica was like a
- 32:20Speaker 1: one season Wonder Chaos agent that flipped that franchise on
- 32:24Speaker 1: its head. And I was like, oh my god, what
- 32:27Speaker 1: a great mention. It's gonna be lost on so many
- 32:30Speaker 1: people who don't watch the show. I heard it. I
- 32:32Speaker 1: loved it. My final did you see that mention is
- 32:36Speaker 1: all of the Kroller Crueler talk with giving say Strudele
- 32:40Speaker 1: one more time. Oh my God, you're so funny. It
- 32:43Speaker 1: didn't bother me. I loved it. Oh, it didn't bother
- 32:45Speaker 1: me either, But I just if you know, you know, yeah,
- 32:49Speaker 1: if you know strudele talk. Yeah, great stuff. What did
- 32:52Speaker 1: you rate Haul Out the Halloweens? This was a five
- 32:56Speaker 1: star stunner five stars for me too? Five stars? Can
- 33:00Speaker 1: I give it six? Ah? So good? Five stars? No notes?
- 33:04Speaker 1: That could be the episode. It's a ten out of ten.
- 33:06Speaker 1: No notes, but in fact we had many minutes of notes. Yes,
- 33:10Speaker 1: thank you for listening to this episode of Girls Gone Hallmark,
