- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hey my friend, thanks for joining me for today's episode.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: A few years ago, my son Ash turned 18, and for some time before that, probably six or eight months, I knew that I wanted to get him something really special for this very important landmark birthday.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: But I didn't just want to get him any gift, you know, like a random object from Amazon or a gift card.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Instead, I wanted to get him something that I knew he would appreciate for decades to come.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Now, since I'm a writer, I decided to put together a book sharing the most important values that I hoped he would live by.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: And the result is a short book called 18 Words to Live By, a Father's Wisdom on What Matters Most.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: And each chapter in that book focuses on a specific value I hoped he would carry with him throughout his life.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: The very first chapter in this book is also the most important chapter, and that chapter is titled Responsibility, Take Charge of Your Life.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: And I use that as the very first chapter in the book because I believe nothing else is possible if you don't take responsibility in life.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: In my last podcast episode, I talked about the number one quality of successful writers, which is authorship.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: Authorship is all about taking initiative and putting yourself in the driver's seat of your writing, your career, and your life.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: And authorship starts by taking responsibility.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Over the last few years, I've gotten lots of feedback about 18 words to live by.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: I truly love that book.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: And readers of all ages love it as well.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: And they love it for many reasons, probably, but one of the big ones is that it's easy to read, it's short, and it's full of life lessons that you can apply at any stage of life.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: And by the way, the book also makes a great Father's Day gift, as well as a great gift for yourself.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: You can grab a copy at the link in the show notes.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: And if you grab the book, I would love to hear what you think.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Hey, that's it for today.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: And remember to take responsibility in your life, to take authorship, and to put yourself in the driver's seat.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: I'll see you next time.
