- 1:50Speaker 1: In this episode of disguised coverage, we are going to
- 1:54Speaker 1: be diving into have a heavy first flub already kind
- 1:59Speaker 1: of but maybe not a heavy tight end focus in
- 2:03Speaker 1: this episode centering around Bill's rookie tight end Jackson Hawes,
- 2:09Speaker 1: who if for those of you joined me live, feel
- 2:11Speaker 1: free to start the counter on how many times I
- 2:13Speaker 1: call him Spencer or not former NBA player Spencer Hawes.
- 2:16Speaker 1: We're gonna be talking about Jackson Hawes in this episode,
- 2:19Speaker 1: and we're gonna be talking about the Bills tight end
- 2:21Speaker 1: room in general, the twelve personnel packages they can get to,
- 2:24Speaker 1: the thirteen personnel packages they can get to. Going to
- 2:27Speaker 1: be going over some advanced metrics that kind of put
- 2:30Speaker 1: into perspective where they are as a group and what
- 2:33Speaker 1: they mean to the offense thus far through the first
- 2:35Speaker 1: three weeks. And then also I have kind of a
- 2:37Speaker 1: higher level conversation about the schematics, the dictation piece, and
- 2:42Speaker 1: just really what they mean collectively as a unit as
- 2:45Speaker 1: a group for this Buffalo Bill's offense. And a lot
- 2:49Speaker 1: of the reason you know we're doing this episode is
- 2:53Speaker 1: because Jackson Hawes has been fantastic. He's had some nice catches.
- 2:57Speaker 1: He's had some moments where he's shown up in the
- 2:58Speaker 1: past from a clutch standpoint, from a you know, a
- 3:02Speaker 1: high visibility standpoint, but just week in and week out
- 3:06Speaker 1: as a blocker, and I know that's not the sexiest thing,
- 3:09Speaker 1: although I think with his effectiveness and his track record,
- 3:13Speaker 1: it's becoming more of a sexy thing for Bills fans
- 3:15Speaker 1: and becoming more of a sexy thing to be, you know,
- 3:17Speaker 1: kind of watched for week in and week out. But
- 3:20Speaker 1: he's just been so consistent in mashing dudes, like various positions,
- 3:25Speaker 1: body types. He's mashing guys. He's solo blocking edges and
- 3:29Speaker 1: defensive ends, you know, one on one off play action,
- 3:32Speaker 1: he's base blocking guys, he's washing guys down. He's you know,
- 3:36Speaker 1: he's able to function in gap schemes, he's able to
- 3:38Speaker 1: function in zone. He can function within doubles and climb
- 3:40Speaker 1: to the second level. He's just been so impactful for
- 3:44Speaker 1: this team already. But it ties into the larger conversation
- 3:49Speaker 1: of I think what this offense is this year and
- 3:52Speaker 1: what they could be with the tight end room and
- 3:56Speaker 1: just what they are in general. We've talked a bunch
- 3:58Speaker 1: on this show for the past couple of offseasons about
- 4:01Speaker 1: the Bills offense and the direction that they were going
- 4:03Speaker 1: in getting away from, you know, really starting last offseason,
- 4:06Speaker 1: getting away from the spread type of offense and the
- 4:10Speaker 1: smaller you know, quote unquote the smurf type of wide
- 4:12Speaker 1: receivers and moving onto and leaning into bigger body types
- 4:17Speaker 1: at the wide receiver position. And last year was you know,
- 4:19Speaker 1: really guys like Kean Coleman and Matt Collins in particular,
- 4:22Speaker 1: who had mccollins had a really good year for the Bills,
- 4:25Speaker 1: his role as a blocker, as that bigger body type
- 4:28Speaker 1: that could mash any dB really but that could also
- 4:32Speaker 1: function as a legitimate pass catcher when they needed him.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I think a lot of folks forget that. Before Marty
- 4:37Speaker 1: Cooper came on, Mac Collins was the cover zero beater
- 4:41Speaker 1: and he had some really nice moments as a pass
- 4:42Speaker 1: catcher for the Bills. Last year. Could have had another one.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Allen overthrew him a bit in that game down at
- 4:47Speaker 1: Houston where Mac ran a really nice double move and
- 4:51Speaker 1: mac Collins goes and he played again. Wasn't didn't put
- 4:55Speaker 1: up like these crazy receiving stats, but he was a
- 4:58Speaker 1: very important piece of this offense with what they were
- 5:00Speaker 1: trying to do with changing body types at receiver and
- 5:03Speaker 1: leaning more into personnel, grouping, formation, condensed formations, alignment, using
- 5:10Speaker 1: all of that to kind of move towards a run
- 5:12Speaker 1: first or a run based offense and attacking defenses from there.
- 5:17Speaker 1: So Hollins goes, and then the thought is, okay, who
- 5:21Speaker 1: replaces Matt Collins, who replaces that type of role? Is
- 5:24Speaker 1: it Keon Coleman who takes the next step. Is it
- 5:27Speaker 1: Dalton Kinkaid who takes the next step as a blocker potentially?
- 5:31Speaker 1: Is it Josh Palmer? Is it Khalil Shakir? Is it
- 5:35Speaker 1: more six offensive linemen packages and groupings like the Bills
- 5:39Speaker 1: used last year where they led the league in that
- 5:41Speaker 1: and were tremendous in that world and in that role.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Or is it more Regie Gillian. You're kind of trying
- 5:46Speaker 1: to put those bread combs together and see what they
- 5:47Speaker 1: were going to be, and so far it's really been,
- 5:51Speaker 1: you know, the way that they've alleviated that, and they've
- 5:53Speaker 1: hit some run stuff with you know, eleven personnel and receivers.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Tyrol Shavers has performed admirably in that role. Shakir does
- 5:58Speaker 1: this thing at times, but a lot of it has
- 6:01Speaker 1: really been what the Bills were been able to do
- 6:02Speaker 1: with these tight ends, with what Kincaid affords you, what
- 6:06Speaker 1: Knox affords you, and with what Jackson Hawes affords you
- 6:12Speaker 1: and you That's kind of where I want to set
- 6:14Speaker 1: the table talk about this grouping where to get into
- 6:16Speaker 1: some metrics with speak very highly of them that will
- 6:18Speaker 1: get into the Jackson Hawes tape and really break this
- 6:20Speaker 1: thing down. You've got a really fun group at the
- 6:23Speaker 1: tight end position, and I don't know however we want
- 6:25Speaker 1: to rank them on the depth chart, but it's a
- 6:27Speaker 1: good balance. You've got Knox, who I think is in
- 6:30Speaker 1: the middle where you know, so much of his game
- 6:33Speaker 1: that gets talked about or shown or highlighted is the
- 6:36Speaker 1: pass catching stuff. It's his athleticism, and it's the places
- 6:39Speaker 1: he makes or doesn't make in the air, the big catches,
- 6:42Speaker 1: the run after catch, or the easy drops or the
- 6:44Speaker 1: really spectacular catches followed up by easy drops or preceded
- 6:47Speaker 1: by them. But he's really become this nice middling and
- 6:51Speaker 1: I don't mean that in a negative way, but like
- 6:53Speaker 1: a middling skill set type of tight end where he
- 6:54Speaker 1: can hold his own in the run game, as you know,
- 6:58Speaker 1: a tight end that you can hip off the formation
- 7:00Speaker 1: a line in a wing, or you can put him
- 7:02Speaker 1: in line and he can function and he can be
- 7:04Speaker 1: viable there for you, or he can function as a
- 7:07Speaker 1: pass catcher. And then you've got Dalton Kincaid, who is
- 7:10Speaker 1: more of you know, all jokes aside, more of a
- 7:13Speaker 1: why like a big bodied wide receiver, but he can
- 7:16Speaker 1: hold his own as a blocker, especially against dbs, mainly
- 7:19Speaker 1: against DB's. We've seen him in each of the games
- 7:22Speaker 1: this year for the Bills, mashing corners and making space
- 7:26Speaker 1: for guys on RPOs and little bubbles and screens and
- 7:29Speaker 1: stuff like that. The Jets suitep to Elijah Moore against
- 7:32Speaker 1: the Jets, where he takes the corner for a ride
- 7:34Speaker 1: and helps clear the way. Kinkaid's always been a willing blocker,
- 7:38Speaker 1: but his frame and his technique are the reason that
- 7:42Speaker 1: he's not really able to hold his own regularly against
- 7:43Speaker 1: defensive ends, against edges, against bigger body types, more physical
- 7:47Speaker 1: type of players and presences. And so you've got Kinkaid
- 7:50Speaker 1: who leans more towards the pass catching side. You've got
- 7:53Speaker 1: Knocks who can live in the light and the dark,
- 7:56Speaker 1: and then you've got Hawes, who is the killdozer, who
- 7:59Speaker 1: is this smaller masher type of tight end. But I
- 8:04Speaker 1: do think he can hold his own as a pass catcher,
- 8:06Speaker 1: and we've seen it a little bit this year, but
- 8:08Speaker 1: we talked about what he could be this offseason, and
- 8:13Speaker 1: just he's got some explosion and burst to him, not
- 8:16Speaker 1: really burst from like a speed and quickness stand but
- 8:18Speaker 1: but from a power standpoint, from zero to ten yards.
- 8:22Speaker 1: He can get vertical a little bit. He can move
- 8:24Speaker 1: a little bit with the ball in his hands. I
- 8:25Speaker 1: don't think he's ever gonna be this thousand yard receiving
- 8:30Speaker 1: type of tight end or this eighty to one hundred
- 8:32Speaker 1: catch type of tight end. But he can function as
- 8:35Speaker 1: a pass catcher. He's viable in that world. He's almost
- 8:37Speaker 1: kind of the inverse of Kinkaid, although I think he's
- 8:42Speaker 1: a better pass catcher. I think he functions better in
- 8:45Speaker 1: the pass catching world than Kinkaid does as a blocker.
- 8:49Speaker 1: But it's close. But he's almost kind of the inverse
- 8:50Speaker 1: of Kincaid. And you look at that group in totality
- 8:53Speaker 1: with Knox and Kincaid and Hawes, and you've got this
- 8:56Speaker 1: nice group where when you put them on the field
- 8:58Speaker 1: in twelve personnel those who don't know what that means,
- 9:01Speaker 1: twelve personnel, one running back, two tight ends, thirteen personnel
- 9:05Speaker 1: one running back, three tight ends. Eleven personnel would be
- 9:08Speaker 1: one running back, one tight end, Ten personnel would be
- 9:11Speaker 1: one running back, no tight ends. So when you go
- 9:13Speaker 1: into twelve and thirteen personnel, you've got these tight ends
- 9:17Speaker 1: now who allow you to dictate to defenses and access
- 9:22Speaker 1: more of the play calling menu without having to turn
- 9:24Speaker 1: the page. And I say that a ton on this show.
- 9:26Speaker 1: I think most of you know what that means by now,
- 9:28Speaker 1: but just in case you don't, Essentially, you can get
- 9:31Speaker 1: to a multitude of runs and passes and play calls
- 9:34Speaker 1: and concepts with the tight ends that you have on
- 9:38Speaker 1: the field without having to change your personnel grouping. If
- 9:42Speaker 1: you want to get to a certain pass, you can.
- 9:45Speaker 1: If you've got Knocks and kin Kate out there, you
- 9:47Speaker 1: can get to a multitude of runs from that as well.
- 9:49Speaker 1: And then with Hawes and Knocks, Hawes and King Kate,
- 9:53Speaker 1: and then you add in the condensed formation aspect and
- 9:56Speaker 1: the different alignments that you can get into. Go a
- 10:00Speaker 1: little spread, you can go two by two. You can
- 10:03Speaker 1: go heavy and just really shrink and reduce everything and
- 10:06Speaker 1: then increase your run game menu, and then you can
- 10:09Speaker 1: go play action off of that. You can stay in
- 10:10Speaker 1: that grouping after you ran the ball through someone's face,
- 10:13Speaker 1: stay in that grouping, come out the next play and
- 10:16Speaker 1: go a little two by two gun or something like that.
- 10:19Speaker 1: There's a multitude of plays and concepts you can get
- 10:21Speaker 1: to without having to Okay, you know, we gotta sub
- 10:24Speaker 1: this guy out. You know, we gotta leave twelve. If
- 10:26Speaker 1: we want to pass, we got to get out of twelve.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Then go to eleven. Oh you know we want to run. Okay,
- 10:31Speaker 1: let's switch these two tight ends, or let's bring this
- 10:33Speaker 1: guy tight end out and let's put a fullback on it.
- 10:35Speaker 1: There's less tells that are starting to develop. And then
- 10:38Speaker 1: even with the tells that are there, when Hawes is
- 10:41Speaker 1: on the field and you're sitting there thinking like, okay,
- 10:43Speaker 1: he's on the field, they're probably going to mash us.
- 10:46Speaker 1: They're probably going to do one of these three or
- 10:48Speaker 1: four things. He's so effective in his role and they're
- 10:51Speaker 1: so good at those three or four things. Then it
- 10:54Speaker 1: almost doesn't matter. He's getting to the point where he's
- 10:56Speaker 1: on the field, and in conjunction with this Bills offensive
- 10:59Speaker 1: line and Aaron Kromer and Joe Brady and James Cook,
- 11:03Speaker 1: it's almost like they can tell you what's coming. You're
- 11:05Speaker 1: still not going to be able to stop it. Like
- 11:07Speaker 1: they're fastball on the ground. You can tell somebody, hey, man,
- 11:10Speaker 1: like I'm throwing the fastball right down the plate, good luck,
- 11:13Speaker 1: see if you can hit it, And more often than not,
- 11:15Speaker 1: the hitters just start not hitting it, and then they
- 11:17Speaker 1: can work in some changeups and some curveballs and really
- 11:21Speaker 1: dictate the defenses. And if you're a defense, you have
- 11:23Speaker 1: to sit there and look at those personnel groupings because
- 11:25Speaker 1: they can run, because they're twelve and thirteen personnel packages
- 11:29Speaker 1: put defenses into so much run pass conflict. As a defense,
- 11:33Speaker 1: you have to sit there from a personnel standpoint and decide, Okay, Okay,
- 11:38Speaker 1: it's Knox and Kincaid, All right, are we going to Nickel?
- 11:41Speaker 1: Should we go in base? Okay, it's Knox and Hawes,
- 11:44Speaker 1: we probably gotta go base. But then if you're going base,
- 11:47Speaker 1: can your third linebacker hold up in coverage against Knox
- 11:52Speaker 1: or Hawes. If they go thirteen personnel, you're almost guaranteed
- 11:56Speaker 1: to go base and then go heavy a little bit
- 11:59Speaker 1: on the defensive side. But then, how are you matching
- 12:01Speaker 1: up with Kincaid? You know, are you bringing a corner
- 12:03Speaker 1: if he's like the last man kind of not really
- 12:06Speaker 1: in the in you know, the wing or in line,
- 12:09Speaker 1: which he usually isn't, are you matching him with the corner?
- 12:12Speaker 1: And if that's the case, he's gonna eat that corner
- 12:13Speaker 1: as a run blocker, or you can get to the nickel,
- 12:15Speaker 1: he can mash on the safety. There's a multitude of
- 12:18Speaker 1: things that you can do offensively that puts that defense
- 12:22Speaker 1: in a buying from a run pass conflict where this
- 12:24Speaker 1: personnel grouping is something that you see and you know
- 12:28Speaker 1: you're the personnel. You're whoever's calling anything for the eye
- 12:31Speaker 1: and the sky for you and being like, oh, they're
- 12:32Speaker 1: in twelve and it's not like they're in twelve. They're
- 12:34Speaker 1: running it up there in twelve, they're passing it. It's
- 12:36Speaker 1: like they're in twelve. And you immediately have to think,
- 12:39Speaker 1: you have to start thinking tendency down in distance, situation,
- 12:42Speaker 1: and all of those things coalesce into the effectiveness that
- 12:47Speaker 1: they have out of twelve out of thirteen, and again
- 12:50Speaker 1: this is you know, a testament to Knox and even
- 12:52Speaker 1: a testament to Kincaid, But Jackson Hawes and his skill
- 12:56Speaker 1: set has really been a nice refining piece and puzzle
- 13:01Speaker 1: fitting piece to this tight end room which extends so
- 13:04Speaker 1: well into the offense. Because again, as we've said on
- 13:06Speaker 1: the show all year and all offseason, and we're going
- 13:09Speaker 1: to continue to say it, as much as Josh Allen
- 13:12Speaker 1: is the MVP and quarterbacks of the story and all
- 13:15Speaker 1: of that, the Bills are a run first team. The
- 13:19Speaker 1: run dictates what this offense does. They can use it
- 13:23Speaker 1: to dictate the defenses, but it's also the starting point
- 13:26Speaker 1: for anything they do offensively. The offensive line in the
- 13:29Speaker 1: ground game is what churns this offense. This offense is
- 13:32Speaker 1: not built to go spread and have Alan fling it
- 13:35Speaker 1: thirty five to forty or forty to forty five times
- 13:38Speaker 1: a game. They want to run the hell out of
- 13:39Speaker 1: the ball, pass it twenty five to thirty, hopefully work
- 13:43Speaker 1: in more play action. They're still not doing that. They're
- 13:45Speaker 1: twenty fourth in play action rate at twenty percent. I
- 13:47Speaker 1: feel like they should be higher but you know, maybe
- 13:49Speaker 1: we'll get that down the road. Last year it was
- 13:52Speaker 1: the sixth offensive lineman stuff that put defenses into a bune.
- 13:55Speaker 1: This year, it looks to be Jackson Hawes. He's replaced
- 13:57Speaker 1: Alec Anderson a bit in discussion point because he offers
- 14:02Speaker 1: some semblance of that blocking ability with going big on big,
- 14:06Speaker 1: but he's obviously a much more viable threat as a
- 14:09Speaker 1: pass catcher when they go in those looks. And yeah,
- 14:13Speaker 1: it's just been absolutely awesome. Let's grab some comments here
- 14:17Speaker 1: and then we're going to dive into some of the
- 14:22Speaker 1: numbers here. Jason says, Wait, two film sessions in one day?
- 14:25Speaker 1: How am I this blessed? Yeah, Eric and I did
- 14:27Speaker 1: the film room earlier today. Obviously I'm doing some film
- 14:29Speaker 1: and disguis covered Tonight's just how the bill is playing
- 14:31Speaker 1: on Thursday last week, and then Eric and I's schedule
- 14:34Speaker 1: this week was wonky, so I had to try and
- 14:38Speaker 1: fit where we could where we could. Rick says, I'm
- 14:42Speaker 1: so ready for this one. This guy blocks hard and
- 14:44Speaker 1: makes impactful catches. Seems like a game changer. James calls
- 14:47Speaker 1: Haws the steal of the draft kaymore. He says, I
- 14:53Speaker 1: might have missed announcement, But is this going to be
- 14:54Speaker 1: more of the style of the shows this year instead
- 14:57Speaker 1: of preview shows? Love both styles, by the way, kicking
- 15:00Speaker 1: it around, I'm enjoying these ones more instead of the
- 15:03Speaker 1: preview episodes. I'm not saying that's going to completely go away.
- 15:06Speaker 1: If I can get my schedule from a day job
- 15:08Speaker 1: standpoint and maybe do one of these offline and drop
- 15:12Speaker 1: it on a Monday evening or early Tuesday, and then
- 15:16Speaker 1: do the preview shows for DC on Tuesday nights, that
- 15:18Speaker 1: might come back. I'm still kicking it around. Also, a
- 15:21Speaker 1: lot of it depends on, like the film that I
- 15:22Speaker 1: plan on using, if it's gonna get pinged or not,
- 15:25Speaker 1: so that kind of monkeys with things. But I'm enjoying
- 15:28Speaker 1: this significantly more than the previous format, So I'm glad
- 15:32Speaker 1: you love both styles, by the way, but I am
- 15:35Speaker 1: right now I'm kind of leaning more into this. We'll
- 15:37Speaker 1: see how that looks like going forward. Just the typically
- 15:40Speaker 1: do says waffle fries and chicken tenders with a glass
- 15:42Speaker 1: of Nestley Quick for dinner go bills. That sounds like
- 15:44Speaker 1: a feast. I am down for that. I like this
- 15:48Speaker 1: from James who says, when technique meets desire and ambition.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Jason says the Hawes draft pick was super cute, but
- 15:54Speaker 1: now we're starting to be like, oh dang, I think
- 15:55Speaker 1: he is actually really pretty. Adam says, who is the
- 15:59Speaker 1: cover zero B now Palmer? We really don't know as
- 16:02Speaker 1: of yet, because I would probably say Palmer depends on
- 16:05Speaker 1: who the lines where. But I don't think there's anyone
- 16:08Speaker 1: that's kind of late claim to it the way Hollins
- 16:10Speaker 1: did early on last year and then Marty Cooper after that.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Bum bum oh. I like the stuff from James Saint.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Hawes has inspired Dalton and Dawson to block as best
- 16:24Speaker 1: as they can. Man, Dalton and Dawson is a hard
- 16:26Speaker 1: thing to say five times fast. Hawes is an old
- 16:30Speaker 1: school tight end, says Billy. That's absolutely right, all right,
- 16:33Speaker 1: Joey saying Hawes being able to one on one block
- 16:35Speaker 1: the d end is impressive for a rookie. Yes, We've
- 16:37Speaker 1: got several clips of that to dive into. It's one
- 16:39Speaker 1: of my favorite things. Bom Archie says, I still think
- 16:43Speaker 1: Cause has a chance to be an elite tight end.
- 16:45Speaker 1: He has good movement and solid hands. Surprisingly, it's like
- 16:47Speaker 1: if you took Lee Smith and gave him knocks his hands. Yeah,
- 16:51Speaker 1: I'm I think the jury is still out on him
- 16:54Speaker 1: as a pass catcher. I'm hopeful. I think he's more
- 16:56Speaker 1: of I think he's more of a really high end
- 16:59Speaker 1: tight end two one because he is more blocking focused.
- 17:03Speaker 1: But he's not a poor athlete, and if he can
- 17:07Speaker 1: start to add more nuance. I know the nuance is
- 17:09Speaker 1: thrown around way too much in the football space nowadays,
- 17:12Speaker 1: but if he can add more from like a route
- 17:13Speaker 1: running standpoint, a pass catching standpoint. A lot of it
- 17:16Speaker 1: too is going to be based on how Brady uses him.
- 17:18Speaker 1: But I think he could be a very very very
- 17:21Speaker 1: very effective player for a very very long time. And
- 17:24Speaker 1: he fits this offense absolutely tremendously. Yeah, Jason said, It's
- 17:31Speaker 1: always interesting that we just presumed Hawes literally has no
- 17:34Speaker 1: hands and was a capable of catching, and never thought, hey,
- 17:36Speaker 1: what if he learns to catch, he could catch. He
- 17:38Speaker 1: had some nice catches at Georgia Tech. He was just
- 17:40Speaker 1: in a run heavy offense. It was talked about as
- 17:42Speaker 1: a run blocker, but he's viable as a pass catcher.
- 17:44Speaker 1: He's not a stud as a pass catcher, yet He's
- 17:46Speaker 1: not a true dual threat type of tight end. But
- 17:50Speaker 1: he can function, and I think that will start to
- 17:52Speaker 1: build and stack with some of these play action looks
- 17:54Speaker 1: that they've been showing and some of just the overall
- 17:56Speaker 1: play calls and concepts and anything that they were doing
- 18:00Speaker 1: as well. All right, let's get into some metrics here.
- 18:02Speaker 1: So for the basis of it, I want to the
- 18:07Speaker 1: Bills offense has been successful in these first three weeks.
- 18:09Speaker 1: I don't think that's crazy for anyone to kind of
- 18:11Speaker 1: hear or see the first three weeks the Bills offense overall, Right,
- 18:16Speaker 1: so everything in totality, they're third in EPA per play
- 18:20Speaker 1: at zero point one eight nine and their second in
- 18:23Speaker 1: success rate at forty nine point five percent. So keep
- 18:27Speaker 1: those numbers in mind, not necessarily the ranking, but the numbers, right,
- 18:30Speaker 1: third in EPA per play at zero point one eight nine,
- 18:33Speaker 1: second in success rate at forty nine point five when
- 18:36Speaker 1: in twelve or thirteen personnel, they're tied for first in
- 18:40Speaker 1: EPA per play at zero point three one two, and
- 18:43Speaker 1: they're first in success rate at sixty one point eight.
- 18:46Speaker 1: So they're EPA per play overall zero point one eight
- 18:49Speaker 1: nine EPA per play win in twelve or thirteen personnel
- 18:53Speaker 1: zero point three one two big difference overall second in
- 18:57Speaker 1: success rate at forty nine point five when in twelve
- 19:00Speaker 1: over thirteen, first in success rate sixty one point eight percent,
- 19:05Speaker 1: over a twelve percentage point jump, which is absolutely huge
- 19:09Speaker 1: if you want to just go to twelve personnel, which
- 19:12Speaker 1: they've run fourteen plays out of twelve, which is twenty
- 19:14Speaker 1: ninth in the league, so not as much twelve as
- 19:15Speaker 1: you might think. They are second in EPA per play
- 19:18Speaker 1: at zero point three to one six. Again, they're EPA
- 19:21Speaker 1: per play in twelve, dwarfing their regular overall EPA per play.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Second in EPA per play at zero point three one six,
- 19:27Speaker 1: first in success rate at sixty four point three percent,
- 19:31Speaker 1: so almost a full fifteen percentage point jump versus their
- 19:35Speaker 1: overall offense thirteen personnel. They've run twenty plays out of
- 19:40Speaker 1: thirteen true thirteen, not like you know thirteen with an
- 19:43Speaker 1: extra offensive lineman, just actual, true regular role thirteen twenty
- 19:47Speaker 1: plays out of thirteen, which is the third most. Seventeen
- 19:50Speaker 1: of those plays in thirteen personnel, so seventeen out of
- 19:53Speaker 1: those twenty have been runs, which is the most in
- 19:56Speaker 1: the NFL. They are six in EPA per play out
- 20:00Speaker 1: thirteen personnel at zero point three Zho nine, and they're
- 20:03Speaker 1: fourth in success rate at sixty percent. Caveat there with
- 20:07Speaker 1: success rate. The three teams that are above them have
- 20:10Speaker 1: only run one play each out of thirteen personnel, so
- 20:14Speaker 1: essentially they're first even though they're fourth when it comes
- 20:17Speaker 1: to thirteen personnel success rate. So overall a good offense,
- 20:21Speaker 1: no shock there, you know, third and EPA per play
- 20:23Speaker 1: second in success rate overa. But when they go into
- 20:25Speaker 1: twelve and thirteen, their EPA per play takes a significant jump,
- 20:29Speaker 1: their success rate takes a significant jump. And then if
- 20:33Speaker 1: we're just focusing on the run game out of thirteen personnel, again,
- 20:36Speaker 1: those were you packing your three tight ends in their Knox,
- 20:39Speaker 1: Kincaid and Hawes. The Bills run game out of thirteen
- 20:42Speaker 1: personnel zero point two four to three EPA per rush,
- 20:46Speaker 1: which is fourth, fifty eight point eight success rate which
- 20:49Speaker 1: is third, and then some big ones. You don't need
- 20:51Speaker 1: to know advanced metris to know these three eight point
- 20:53Speaker 1: five yards per rush which is first, three point one
- 20:57Speaker 1: yards before contact per rush, which is second, and five
- 21:00Speaker 1: point four yards after contact per rush, which is second.
- 21:05Speaker 1: They have just mashed and mauled and found a lot
- 21:08Speaker 1: of success when they go to twelve and they go
- 21:10Speaker 1: to thirteen, and I think Jackson Hawes is a significant
- 21:13Speaker 1: part of that, as is Dawson Knox, as is Dalton Kykid.
- 21:17Speaker 1: And it's just been absolutely awesome to watch on the tape.
- 21:21Speaker 1: And with that being said, let us dive into the tape.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Any questions, thoughts, comments, concerns as I start to go
- 21:29Speaker 1: through and break down the tape here, bear with me obviously,
- 21:33Speaker 1: as I'm doing the telestration and doing the film, I
- 21:37Speaker 1: may miss some things in the comments, but feel free
- 21:38Speaker 1: to put anything and everything up into there, as we
- 21:40Speaker 1: do here when we do these type of episodes. Once
- 21:42Speaker 1: I get to the end of the film, I'll go back,
- 21:44Speaker 1: scroll through, bring up as many comments as physically and
- 21:47Speaker 1: as humanly possible. As always, super chats get priority because
- 21:50Speaker 1: I respect the monetary donation, and because the color will
- 21:54Speaker 1: distract me and catch my eyes almost immediately as soon
- 21:58Speaker 1: as we do that, right, drop the banner. Let's pull
- 22:03Speaker 1: this up. Let's go full screen. Let's go full screen.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Everybody can see fantastic. Let's dive into some Jackson Hawes tape.
- 22:12Speaker 1: This first one I let off with the pass pro
- 22:15Speaker 1: stuff because I don't think it's gotten enough attention, and
- 22:19Speaker 1: I think this type of stuff really highlights what he's
- 22:21Speaker 1: able to do. So he's in pass pro here right here.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Haven't circled against Will McDonald edge for the New York Jets. Lanky, speedy,
- 22:30Speaker 1: bursty type of edge rusher, a different type of body
- 22:33Speaker 1: type than you normally see off the edge, but his speed,
- 22:36Speaker 1: his length, he's got some moves. All that stuff can
- 22:39Speaker 1: give guys problems. They are straight up on this play
- 22:42Speaker 1: letting Hawes handle McDonald one on one. This is part
- 22:45Speaker 1: of the benefit that we talked about last year with
- 22:48Speaker 1: Alec Anderson. If you have a regular tight end like
- 22:51Speaker 1: no disrespect to Kincaid, if you have Kinkaid here, This
- 22:54Speaker 1: is advantage Will McDonald. Honestly, it should be an advantage
- 22:58Speaker 1: for any and every or most at least defensive ends.
- 23:01Speaker 1: We talked about it last week with with Joey Bosa
- 23:03Speaker 1: when we showed some clips. If you are a defensive
- 23:05Speaker 1: end or edge, who is worth their salt? I gotta
- 23:08Speaker 1: stop because we got a super chat. Jason. I appreciate
- 23:11Speaker 1: you for being here as always and the two dollar
- 23:13Speaker 1: donation and Jason says, super chest, skift priority. See he
- 23:16Speaker 1: wasn't lying. I like that you knew how would pull
- 23:17Speaker 1: it up. I appreciate you. Well done, well done. As
- 23:21Speaker 1: we talked about with Joey Bosa last week, any edge,
- 23:25Speaker 1: if they are worth their salt, should own a tight
- 23:28Speaker 1: end that is trying to block them. That's just essentially
- 23:30Speaker 1: kind of the way of the world. So if you
- 23:32Speaker 1: can find a tight end that can hold his own
- 23:34Speaker 1: against an edge, against any edge, that is a huge
- 23:37Speaker 1: impactful thing. That tying it into last year. That's part
- 23:40Speaker 1: of that six offensive lineman advantage that Alec Anderson brought
- 23:43Speaker 1: last year because you could put him online or in
- 23:47Speaker 1: line in these situations and go big on big. It
- 23:50Speaker 1: would be him against the defensive end or an edge,
- 23:52Speaker 1: and then you don't have to worry as much about
- 23:54Speaker 1: how long can our tight end hold up if we
- 23:56Speaker 1: go play action or if we go you know, straight
- 23:58Speaker 1: drop back from under center. Is our quarterback going to
- 24:01Speaker 1: have to spit the ball out fast? Can we get
- 24:03Speaker 1: to some longer developing concepts? Can we push the ball downfield?
- 24:07Speaker 1: We can only do that if the pass protection holds up. Okay,
- 24:10Speaker 1: do we have a guy who at tight end who
- 24:12Speaker 1: can handle an edge or defensive end one on one. No,
- 24:15Speaker 1: do we gotta give him some help? Do we put
- 24:17Speaker 1: a six offensive lineman? Alec Anderson was a huge equalizer
- 24:21Speaker 1: because he could go big on big and handle himself
- 24:23Speaker 1: out there against defensive ends and edges, but obviously he
- 24:25Speaker 1: wasn't very viable as a pass catcher. Now you've got
- 24:28Speaker 1: Jackson Hawes, who can handle himself in one on one
- 24:31Speaker 1: pass pro against defensive ends and edges. But he's much
- 24:34Speaker 1: more viable as a pass catching threat as opposed to
- 24:37Speaker 1: Alec Anderson. So let's dive in. Watch this one. I
- 24:41Speaker 1: like this one, one of my favorite ones from him
- 24:43Speaker 1: all year. Again pass pro reppers Will McDonald, he's gonna
- 24:46Speaker 1: try and hit him with a snatch trap and then
- 24:47Speaker 1: he's gonna refit his hands inside. McDonald's gonna try and
- 24:50Speaker 1: dip and rip, and we're gonna watch Hawes lean on
- 24:52Speaker 1: him and just drive him outside. So go here, starting
- 24:56Speaker 1: slow mo bank they engage. See Hawes his hands a
- 25:00Speaker 1: little bit outside the frame. Initially not ideal placement, but
- 25:04Speaker 1: McDonald's a bit of a slender guy. But watch what
- 25:06Speaker 1: we get here. We see McDonald try to kind of
- 25:09Speaker 1: lift Hawes up, get inside him. Look at the hands,
- 25:11Speaker 1: they're already coming detached for Hawes. Bang chops down on
- 25:16Speaker 1: the wrist of McDonald. Watch McDonald completely lose balance, fall forward.
- 25:21Speaker 1: But McDonald transitions. He actually does a pretty nice job here.
- 25:23Speaker 1: He regains himself, regains composure and is like, all right,
- 25:26Speaker 1: what can I do here? We're engaged wearing this dance.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Let me try and dip and rip. So he tries
- 25:31Speaker 1: to dip and rip, and look at Hawes just lean
- 25:34Speaker 1: on him, literally leaning on him, and just drives him
- 25:38Speaker 1: wide and completely out of frame. Played in real time
- 25:43Speaker 1: a couple times for you boom. It's that immediate transition
- 25:47Speaker 1: for Hawes that is really nice. From a one on
- 25:49Speaker 1: one standpoint chops the hands, drives leans again. We get
- 25:54Speaker 1: the hands outside a media transition. Let's lift them off,
- 25:58Speaker 1: bang chop down. We've snatched the momentum. We don't get
- 26:01Speaker 1: the full snatch and trap or McDonald face plants and
- 26:04Speaker 1: we trap him or bury him into the earth. McDonald
- 26:07Speaker 1: regains himself a little bit. Hawes gets his hands inside.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Look at where he refits his hands after he chops.
- 26:14Speaker 1: So get the hands outside, bang chop now, watch the
- 26:17Speaker 1: hands of Haws boom right inside, right into the chest,
- 26:20Speaker 1: locks in, has control. McDonald tries to you can see
- 26:24Speaker 1: this another good example here the hands are right into
- 26:26Speaker 1: the chest there, right into the breastplate McDonald McDonald tries
- 26:31Speaker 1: to dip and rip lean into that speed and then
- 26:32Speaker 1: athleticism Hawes just uses technique and power drives them wide.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Really nice, really really nice stuff. Maintains leverage, regains leverage
- 26:42Speaker 1: watching real time boom. That's really nice. And again that
- 26:48Speaker 1: that's the type of stuff that you got from Alec
- 26:49Speaker 1: Anderson last year, which was a huge benefit. But now
- 26:52Speaker 1: you can get this from a tight end who no
- 26:55Speaker 1: respect to Alec Anderson is a much more viable threat
- 26:59Speaker 1: as a pass catcher than Alec Anderson is. That's really nice. Also,
- 27:02Speaker 1: look at the real time shows. You look at the
- 27:04Speaker 1: hands and feet and sink right. The hands control, the
- 27:09Speaker 1: feet are what drive. Look at that doesn't stop moving
- 27:12Speaker 1: his feet, hands are in sync with the feet, locks
- 27:15Speaker 1: in latches, the leverage, the technicality, the physicality. That's so
- 27:19Speaker 1: pretty and it's from a rookie like this is absolutely beautiful, bang,
- 27:27Speaker 1: absolutely beautiful. Love that rep now wanted to show that
- 27:31Speaker 1: one first and show this one second because this is
- 27:33Speaker 1: also as you can see labeled up here. This is
- 27:36Speaker 1: Jackson Hawes and pass Pro again versus an edge. Now
- 27:41Speaker 1: this time the edge is Miami Dolphin's edge. Mister Bradley Chubb.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Chubb much different player than Will McDonald. Right, we showed McDonald,
- 27:50Speaker 1: I think most of you folks know Will McDonald lighter, leaner,
- 27:53Speaker 1: more athletic, more dippy, more bendy. Chubb is thicker, bigger, bodied,
- 27:59Speaker 1: more depression, much more power than speed and burst. So
- 28:04Speaker 1: we showed Hawes hold his own in pass Pro against
- 28:06Speaker 1: one type of edge. Now we're showing him again against
- 28:09Speaker 1: a different type of edge, but I want you to watch.
- 28:11Speaker 1: On this one. Hawes is gonna get driven back at
- 28:13Speaker 1: first a bit by Chubb, but he's gonna refit his hand,
- 28:16Speaker 1: his inside hand inside and clamp down. Then he's going
- 28:20Speaker 1: to anchor and ride Chubb wide again. These first two
- 28:24Speaker 1: plays I think show Hawes's advantage with you being able
- 28:26Speaker 1: to leave him solo against various body types of defensive
- 28:30Speaker 1: end or edge, and him being able to hold his
- 28:32Speaker 1: own in pass pro. You get some of that blocking
- 28:34Speaker 1: capability of a sixth offensive lineman out there, but more
- 28:37Speaker 1: athleticism and more pass catching viability. Let's get into the tape. Okay,
- 28:43Speaker 1: I play a little bit. We'll go and slow mo. First,
- 28:46Speaker 1: watch Chubb get into Hawes. I like, first of all,
- 28:48Speaker 1: I like how Hawes kind of attack him, jumps aets
- 28:51Speaker 1: him a little bit right, but Chub does a good job,
- 28:54Speaker 1: gets his hands three points of contact. Knox hawes back
- 28:57Speaker 1: a bit. You can see him starting to drive him him.
- 29:00Speaker 1: There's the look at the hand, Look at the hand.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Watch him snap that inside hand and refit it bang
- 29:09Speaker 1: right into the chest of Chubb, clamps that inside hand
- 29:13Speaker 1: and then watch him anchor stalls him out. So Chubb
- 29:15Speaker 1: feels that he's like, okay, let me try and get wide,
- 29:19Speaker 1: and Owes goes with him. Yes, he's got knocks there
- 29:21Speaker 1: for some help. Doesn't really need him. Knox looks inside
- 29:28Speaker 1: initially kind of insert, looking to clean up anything on
- 29:30Speaker 1: the inside. For all intensive purposes. Haws is one on
- 29:33Speaker 1: one versus Chubb. That refit is so nice, and then
- 29:36Speaker 1: he rides them wide. Now we're going to go in
- 29:37Speaker 1: real time. You can see watch him start to get
- 29:39Speaker 1: driven back boom. The real time really shows how quick
- 29:43Speaker 1: he snaps that inside hand as he refits it. Boom,
- 29:47Speaker 1: and then again Chubb does a good job. Okay, let
- 29:49Speaker 1: me try to transition. I've stalled out here, let me
- 29:51Speaker 1: go outside. Nope. Hawes keeps moving his feet, he maintains hands,
- 29:56Speaker 1: He understands leverage, he understands feel. This one's nice too,
- 30:01Speaker 1: because he doesn't start winning right out of the gate
- 30:03Speaker 1: like he did against McDonald. Like Chubb gets into him
- 30:05Speaker 1: a bit. You can see he's backing up. Uh oh,
- 30:07Speaker 1: backing up, uh oh, backing up. Okay, let me refit
- 30:10Speaker 1: my hand anchor and turn this man and ride him wide.
- 30:15Speaker 1: And then Alan makes throw inside the Kincaid again. Being
- 30:18Speaker 1: able to handle your own in past pro against various
- 30:23Speaker 1: body types at edge and this is something. There's some
- 30:25Speaker 1: violence in the hands. Oh, there's just that that refit.
- 30:31Speaker 1: I hope everyone cares about this as much as I do.
- 30:32Speaker 1: That refit is just so awesome. Boom it just the
- 30:37Speaker 1: real time the slow mo shows the precision of it,
- 30:40Speaker 1: but the real time just shows the snap in it.
- 30:41Speaker 1: It's almost again he's refitting that hand and clamping it inside,
- 30:44Speaker 1: but it's almost like a punch. Boom, And he does
- 30:49Speaker 1: that while he's anchoring against the power and a compression
- 30:53Speaker 1: type of dude. That's really nice to see out of
- 30:57Speaker 1: Jackson Hawes. And again something that it's better than what
- 31:00Speaker 1: Knox can do as a pass protector. It's much better
- 31:03Speaker 1: than what Dalton Konk can do as a pass protector.
- 31:06Speaker 1: It's more similar to an actual offensive lineman a lah
- 31:10Speaker 1: Alec Anderson than it is a tight end. But you
- 31:13Speaker 1: have the pass catching viability and threat there that is
- 31:15Speaker 1: much more significance. That carries much more significance. I should
- 31:19Speaker 1: say I saw this really fashion Lee who says I
- 31:21Speaker 1: didn't care about it, but now I do. Thanks for
- 31:24Speaker 1: showing me. I like this gunment, Thank you so much.
- 31:27Speaker 1: All Right, this next one, I love this play. This
- 31:30Speaker 1: is from this past we against the Miami Dolphins. This
- 31:33Speaker 1: is the Bills running blast counter y F. It's essentially
- 31:38Speaker 1: a counter run and then the Y is for Jackson
- 31:41Speaker 1: Hawes who circled here, and the F is for Reggie
- 31:43Speaker 1: Gillingham a number forty one. I love a good gap
- 31:46Speaker 1: scheme run, which is what counter is, and I especially
- 31:50Speaker 1: love it out of here where you've got split back
- 31:53Speaker 1: gun and then you're gonna run counter off of it.
- 31:55Speaker 1: The blast comes from the blast motion that Jackson Hawes
- 31:59Speaker 1: is going to go into and I'm gonna show you
- 32:03Speaker 1: so you'll see him on the snap or right before
- 32:04Speaker 1: the snap as he starts to go in that blast motion.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Hawes's job is to meet the end man on the
- 32:10Speaker 1: line of scrimmage, ideally kicking him out. I'm or show
- 32:12Speaker 1: you what that means. We're to illustrate it, but ideally
- 32:15Speaker 1: he's trying to meet the end man on the line
- 32:16Speaker 1: of scrimmage and kick him out. Chubb is that n
- 32:21Speaker 1: man on the line of scrimmage coming from the left side.
- 32:23Speaker 1: He's just on the inside shoulder of mister Kean Coleman.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Here's Chubb right here. And what Chubb actually does a
- 32:31Speaker 1: pretty good job. He's gonna try and wrong arm Jackson Hawes,
- 32:34Speaker 1: and he's gonna try and spill this run. But we're
- 32:36Speaker 1: gonna watch Hawes a justice course and log him inside,
- 32:40Speaker 1: which is something essentially just means he's gonna seal Chubb
- 32:42Speaker 1: inside of him. This is really nice. This this. I
- 32:46Speaker 1: know this may sound dumb to some people. This is
- 32:49Speaker 1: one of my favorite plays of the season because of
- 32:52Speaker 1: what Hawes does, because of what Gilliam does, and also
- 32:54Speaker 1: just the concept I love a good counter run. The
- 32:57Speaker 1: Bills don't really run a lot of counter if you
- 33:01Speaker 1: kind of notice the terms we talk about a lot
- 33:03Speaker 1: of the concepts we talk a lot about. It's duo,
- 33:07Speaker 1: it's mid zone week, it's all the tackle poll stuff.
- 33:10Speaker 1: It's dart where the tackle is pulling and getting around
- 33:13Speaker 1: to that front side linebacker. Or it's tackle long trap
- 33:16Speaker 1: where the tackle is pulling and kicking out the end
- 33:18Speaker 1: man on the line of scrimmage. There is Those are
- 33:23Speaker 1: their three main concepts, and I put the tackle pole
- 33:26Speaker 1: stuff all into one, so it's really four. You get dart,
- 33:28Speaker 1: you get tackle long trap, then you get duo, and
- 33:31Speaker 1: then you get midzone week and midzone week, where it's
- 33:36Speaker 1: essentially the majority of I would say the majority of
- 33:38Speaker 1: zone runs the Bills run are mid zone runs. But
- 33:43Speaker 1: all mid zone is is the aim point of the
- 33:45Speaker 1: running back is the inside leg of the offensive tackle.
- 33:48Speaker 1: If you've got inside zone, the aim point is the
- 33:51Speaker 1: inside the leg of the guard. Mid zone again is
- 33:53Speaker 1: the inside leg of the offensive tackle. Outside zone is
- 33:56Speaker 1: the inside the leg of the tight end. Wide zone
- 33:59Speaker 1: roughly two yard guards outside of the tight end. If
- 34:01Speaker 1: you ever want to kind of figure out like which
- 34:03Speaker 1: zone is which type of run. But again the Bills
- 34:06Speaker 1: do midzone duo and then the tackle pull stuff. So
- 34:08Speaker 1: really four main concepts, three buckets if you wanted to
- 34:11Speaker 1: put him in. But they don't really run a lot
- 34:13Speaker 1: of traditional power. They don't run a lot of traditional counter.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Part of it is because they're guards. O Cyrus Torrance
- 34:18Speaker 1: and David Edwards aren't the most mobile, aren't the most
- 34:21Speaker 1: fleet of foot. Torrance is a mall or and a masher.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Edwards is very technically sound. Neither are plus athletes and
- 34:27Speaker 1: guys you really want on the move. Mcgovernn can move
- 34:30Speaker 1: it center a bit, Dawkins can move it left tackle,
- 34:32Speaker 1: Brown can move it right tackle. So you tend to
- 34:35Speaker 1: lean into those guys as your polers and your movers
- 34:38Speaker 1: more so than you do the guards, So you don't
- 34:40Speaker 1: really see a lot of traditional power and counter. Both
- 34:42Speaker 1: of those usually entail your guards pulling. I say all
- 34:46Speaker 1: that to get to this. So when I get the
- 34:49Speaker 1: blast motion from Hawes, Alan sends him, it goes to
- 34:53Speaker 1: blast motion. Now here comes Chubb. Chubb sees it right away.
- 34:57Speaker 1: So in an ideal world I talked about it right
- 34:59Speaker 1: like Hawes is going to meet him and kick him out.
- 35:01Speaker 1: In an ideal world, Hawes wants to kind of meet
- 35:04Speaker 1: him here, steal him off, kick him out right, So
- 35:08Speaker 1: you seal him here, and then Gilliam will come and
- 35:11Speaker 1: lead through here. And then I mean that's tied to Cook,
- 35:14Speaker 1: but Gilliam would come and lead through here, and then
- 35:17Speaker 1: Cook will follow Gilliam into the hole there. But what
- 35:21Speaker 1: Chubb does again I said, he wrong arms Hawes and
- 35:25Speaker 1: tries to spill this. So essentially what he does is
- 35:29Speaker 1: he takes that inside shoulder of Hawes. He takes it.
- 35:33Speaker 1: It's called wrong arming. He's trying to spill this run
- 35:37Speaker 1: and make Cook bounce it into his help where he's
- 35:40Speaker 1: got guys coming from the second and third level. Hawes
- 35:44Speaker 1: sees this again. Here comes the blast motion from Hawes.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Here comes Chubb shooting down the line, trying to wrong
- 35:50Speaker 1: arm him and spill this. Watch Hawes just turn seal
- 35:54Speaker 1: seal him inside with that log block. Oh and then
- 35:57Speaker 1: again this is happening on the fly because you're reading this.
- 36:00Speaker 1: If your Hawes bang, turn log him inside sealed. Now
- 36:04Speaker 1: watch Gilliam meet the backer bang and look what we
- 36:09Speaker 1: have here. This is just so pretty. And then we
- 36:12Speaker 1: got a hat on a hat up here, Like this
- 36:14Speaker 1: just develops so well for Cook because of Gilliam and Hawes,
- 36:20Speaker 1: but it starts with Hawes, like Hawes reading that Gilliam
- 36:24Speaker 1: is always coming for this guy right here. Whoa sorry,
- 36:28Speaker 1: Gillium is always coming for Jordan Brooks right here. Oh
- 36:31Speaker 1: I did it again. But Hawes seeing Chubb work right
- 36:37Speaker 1: down the line and crash right down the line and
- 36:39Speaker 1: try and spill this thing, he's got to adjust and
- 36:42Speaker 1: he does so he adjusts, you see the body position,
- 36:45Speaker 1: gets into him, logs him, seals him inside, and then
- 36:49Speaker 1: Gilliam climbs and also just a good job by Cook
- 36:51Speaker 1: reading everything, pacing it right as Gilliam is making his block,
- 36:56Speaker 1: he see Cook planting on that left leg. He's already
- 36:59Speaker 1: getting north south. Bang, we get a nice run. That's
- 37:05Speaker 1: real pretty. And again, huge kudos to Gilliam on this one.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Huge kudos to Cook. But we're talking about the tight ends.
- 37:12Speaker 1: We're talking about Jackson Hawes in this one. Real pretty.
- 37:18Speaker 1: We're watching real time. Oh that's just so nice. And
- 37:21Speaker 1: then he also gives Chubb a little chuck. I watch
- 37:24Speaker 1: you put a little sauce on it. At the end,
- 37:26Speaker 1: right there, Bank just throws them a little bit, but
- 37:28Speaker 1: throws him into mc governor, pushes him into McGovern That's
- 37:31Speaker 1: just nice, a little bit of nastiness, the physicality. It's
- 37:34Speaker 1: not enough for him to just make the read log
- 37:38Speaker 1: him inside, seal him inside and make the block and
- 37:41Speaker 1: create the crease for Cook. He wants to let him
- 37:43Speaker 1: know what's up, get his hands on a bank, chuck some,
- 37:46Speaker 1: let him know what's good. Real nice boom boom that
- 37:50Speaker 1: Look how just how that that hole develops for Cook?
- 37:53Speaker 1: And now Cook reads it in real time, Gilliam plays
- 37:56Speaker 1: off a Hawse again. Watch Gilliam. Look at the cut
- 37:59Speaker 1: by Gilliam, how he cuts off of Hawes boo to
- 38:03Speaker 1: get around Gillium doesn't get caught, because what could happen
- 38:06Speaker 1: is Chubb could spill this thing right, Gilliam could pop
- 38:11Speaker 1: into Hawes and now all of a sudden, his Cook
- 38:14Speaker 1: bounces this thing. It's right into the waiting arms of
- 38:17Speaker 1: Jordan Brooks. That's what Chubb is trying to do by
- 38:19Speaker 1: spilling it. Gum that works up. Cook isn't gonna go
- 38:22Speaker 1: inside this inside is shut off, so he's gotta bounce
- 38:26Speaker 1: it here. Chubb would have effectively spilled it right into
- 38:28Speaker 1: Jordan Brooks, but Gilliam sees it, plants cuts around haws.
- 38:33Speaker 1: Look how tight he is the haws. But he doesn't
- 38:35Speaker 1: get tripped up, he doesn't get gummed up, and he
- 38:38Speaker 1: gets a hat on Brooks and then Cook gets around again.
- 38:42Speaker 1: I know for some this probably isn't a big deal.
- 38:43Speaker 1: This is one of my favorite plays of the season,
- 38:45Speaker 1: and it will be just because it's counter the blast motion.
- 38:50Speaker 1: Who they're using. Again, they're not using pulling guards and tackles.
- 38:53Speaker 1: You're using your tight end and your fullback. So you
- 38:56Speaker 1: get a little YF blast counter YF the blast motion,
- 39:00Speaker 1: your tight end, your full back. And again Paus wants
- 39:05Speaker 1: to kick him out. He sees Chubb trying to wrong
- 39:08Speaker 1: arm and spill this thing. So what do we do? Okay, cool,
- 39:11Speaker 1: I'm just gonna log you, seal you inside, and then
- 39:14Speaker 1: give you a little extra truck for good measure. Wow.
- 39:18Speaker 1: Really nice, really really really nice. Man. I love that
- 39:23Speaker 1: play all right. The next one we're going to get into.
- 39:27Speaker 2: Uh.
- 39:27Speaker 1: This is essentially a Zoro concept, which we've seen the
- 39:31Speaker 1: Bills run a ton this year. It's also I feel
- 39:32Speaker 1: like making a comeback for a lot of teams This
- 39:35Speaker 1: is from the Shanahan Tree. The Bills actually ran it
- 39:39Speaker 1: a decent amount whatever season. It was a couple of
- 39:42Speaker 1: years ago where they opened up against the Rams. That yeah,
- 39:47Speaker 1: the Thursday night game, the season open up. I gotta
- 39:49Speaker 1: stop see a super chat. Thank you very much for
- 39:52Speaker 1: being here, Adam, thank you for the super chat, and
- 39:54Speaker 1: Adam says, legitimately great blocking execution on those two on
- 39:58Speaker 1: these two plays. Wow, absolutely, I'm glad you see that. Oh,
- 40:01Speaker 1: I appreciate you. DJ Finess and the kind where saying dude,
- 40:03Speaker 1: I'm sure everyone is a lock. I'm sure everyone is
- 40:05Speaker 1: loving this. I appreciate you that, Thank you very much.
- 40:08Speaker 1: So this is oral play again. The Bills ran it
- 40:11Speaker 1: a decent amount against the Rams several years ago when
- 40:14Speaker 1: they opened up against the Rams. It's a Shanahan Tree
- 40:17Speaker 1: staple and concept. Essentially, you're gonna get Reggie Gillium. You
- 40:20Speaker 1: can see him off to the left here already kind
- 40:23Speaker 1: of in action as we start this play. But you're
- 40:26Speaker 1: gonna get that blast motion from Gillium. It can be
- 40:28Speaker 1: referred to as a surge motion or a fast motion.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Different people call it different things, but Gillium is essentially
- 40:34Speaker 1: aiming for Dawson knoxes inside hips. So Knox is here
- 40:39Speaker 1: is essentially aiming for that inside hip. He's protecting Knoxes
- 40:43Speaker 1: inside if the man lined up across from him. So
- 40:46Speaker 1: this edge, if that edge spikes inside or works inside,
- 40:51Speaker 1: Gillium is there to protect his inside. This allows Knox
- 40:54Speaker 1: to move to the next level as needed, and it
- 40:56Speaker 1: also creates a potential double team. And then the pre
- 40:58Speaker 1: snap motion from Gilliam again, that blast motion or surge
- 41:02Speaker 1: or fast motion helps create momentum to drive that drive
- 41:06Speaker 1: out that end man on the line of scrimmage and
- 41:07Speaker 1: essentially open up a larger crease for the running back.
- 41:10Speaker 1: So that's this kind of concept in general. If you
- 41:13Speaker 1: kind of pay attention or notice, you will have seen
- 41:14Speaker 1: this from the Bills a bunch this year. You will
- 41:18Speaker 1: see Gilliam and it's always I don't want to say
- 41:20Speaker 1: always because maybe I'm trying to run through the world
- 41:23Speaker 1: of the decks of my head. No, I'm pretty sure
- 41:24Speaker 1: it's always been Gilliam. You'll see this motion and he'll
- 41:26Speaker 1: come through and then just I lost my track of
- 41:29Speaker 1: my mouse. He'll come across on this motion and then
- 41:32Speaker 1: just bang that end man light right there. Maybe if
- 41:34Speaker 1: the end spikes in here, Gilliam meets him or you'll
- 41:37Speaker 1: see the tight end engage and then Gillian comes through
- 41:41Speaker 1: and just blast the hell out of him and then
- 41:42Speaker 1: we get a nice little crease there on the inside.
- 41:45Speaker 1: So I wanted to talk about this concept in general.
- 41:49Speaker 1: Obviously we have Haues circled there in blue, but this
- 41:51Speaker 1: concept is making its way back into the NFL a
- 41:53Speaker 1: bunch and the Bills have used it several times in
- 41:58Speaker 1: each game this year, and it's another little wrinkle to
- 42:02Speaker 1: their runs. So we're gonna watch Gilliam come in motion. Now,
- 42:06Speaker 1: pay attention there. Everything we talked about, right, So Gilliam
- 42:09Speaker 1: is there to protect the inside hip of Dawson Knox.
- 42:12Speaker 1: You get some of this inside activity here. So Knox
- 42:14Speaker 1: has already feeling it like okay, he's gone inside. Let
- 42:17Speaker 1: me just get a little piece. Gilliam is here. I'm
- 42:19Speaker 1: gonna let it play. So you can see that there's
- 42:21Speaker 1: Gilliam ready and be like, okay, cool, let me take
- 42:23Speaker 1: that guy. Gilliam takes him. Knox moves on to the corner,
- 42:27Speaker 1: doesn't really get a piece of him, but forces the
- 42:29Speaker 1: corner to have to widen and get up field, which
- 42:31Speaker 1: essentially takes him out of the play. So again watch
- 42:34Speaker 1: Gilliam's track. He's going for that end man on the
- 42:37Speaker 1: line of scrimmage, picks him up right now, how does
- 42:41Speaker 1: that relate to mister Jackson Hawes. Hawes on this he
- 42:45Speaker 1: helps just enough to allow Gilliam to get to that
- 42:48Speaker 1: block on the end man of the line of scrimmage,
- 42:50Speaker 1: and then he works to the nickel who is Marlin
- 42:52Speaker 1: Humphrey on this play number forty four right here lined
- 42:56Speaker 1: head up on mister Jackson Hawes. Huge missman for Hawes,
- 43:01Speaker 1: and you see it on this play. Hawes is gonna
- 43:04Speaker 1: get into Humphrey's chest and then get him off his
- 43:07Speaker 1: feet and into the air and take him for a ride. Again.
- 43:11Speaker 1: This is a mismatch you see all day. And this
- 43:13Speaker 1: is the advantage of if this was Knox and Kinkaid,
- 43:19Speaker 1: this would be actually, let me go back to it,
- 43:21Speaker 1: if this was Knox and Kincaid and you didn't have Hawes,
- 43:23Speaker 1: this inline guy ideally is probably NOTx. You don't really
- 43:29Speaker 1: want Kinkaid in line too much now if you're gonna
- 43:31Speaker 1: run Zoro when you know, like, okay, we can line
- 43:34Speaker 1: up Kinkaid here because if this guy spikes inside, Gilliam's
- 43:38Speaker 1: gonna be there to kind of clean it up, and
- 43:39Speaker 1: then that way we can have Kinkaid work to the corner.
- 43:42Speaker 1: That's the type of thought process you want to have, right. Traditionally,
- 43:45Speaker 1: you don't want Kinkaid in line because if Kinkaid has
- 43:47Speaker 1: to be the inline guy and play head up, if
- 43:49Speaker 1: the edge was head up here on him, that's a
- 43:52Speaker 1: mismatch for Kinkaid all day, and not in a good way.
- 43:55Speaker 1: But you'd have to think of this a little differently.
- 43:57Speaker 1: You'd have to line them up in specific ways. Right.
- 44:01Speaker 1: You'd have to think, like, Okay, what can kin k do?
- 44:05Speaker 1: What can he do? How does that function in with knocks?
- 44:08Speaker 1: With haws and knocks, you can let them do either
- 44:12Speaker 1: it as run blockers, grand Ad Hawes is much more
- 44:14Speaker 1: physical and I think much better as a rum blocker,
- 44:16Speaker 1: especially against a variety of body types. But Knox can
- 44:19Speaker 1: more than hold his own, so it just gives you
- 44:21Speaker 1: more flexibility. And then you're adding Gilliam into it. Just
- 44:23Speaker 1: a whole another wrinkle. But watch Hawes circled in the
- 44:25Speaker 1: blue there, gets off the line again, does just enough
- 44:29Speaker 1: he engages with that edge because he sees him dipping,
- 44:32Speaker 1: he does just enough to push him down the line
- 44:34Speaker 1: because he knows Gilliam is coming for that Zoro block. Right,
- 44:38Speaker 1: there's Gilliam. And also look at the timing from Hawes
- 44:41Speaker 1: going slow mo feels him lets him go right as
- 44:45Speaker 1: Gilliam comes through, and right as Marlon Humphrey starts coming upfield.
- 44:48Speaker 1: So here's Hawes on Humphrey. Mismatch all day for Hawes
- 44:53Speaker 1: in a good way. Advantage all day for Hawes. Watch
- 44:55Speaker 1: him get into Humphrey. Look at him take him off
- 44:58Speaker 1: his feet. Humphrey is airborne, and then watch Haws just
- 45:03Speaker 1: continue to drive and continue to drive, and continue to
- 45:07Speaker 1: drive and continue to drive. Spencer Brown also gets into
- 45:11Speaker 1: Roquan Smith on this one right tackles seventy nine. Spencer
- 45:14Speaker 1: Brown gives Roquan a nice little chuck. Ravens are having
- 45:17Speaker 1: all kinds of issues defending the run this year. Just
- 45:21Speaker 1: look at that. I like this zoral concept. I really
- 45:24Speaker 1: love the whole momentum and pre snap motion piece from Gilliam.
- 45:27Speaker 1: It just allows him to absolutely mash and beat the
- 45:30Speaker 1: hell out of anybody on the end of the line
- 45:32Speaker 1: of scrimmage. In addition to kind of creating help for
- 45:35Speaker 1: that tight end that he's supporting there. And yeah, just
- 45:38Speaker 1: look at Hawes again. So what have we shown Hawes
- 45:42Speaker 1: do so far? Here right? We showed him and one
- 45:45Speaker 1: on one pass pro against a lighter, speedy, lankier type
- 45:49Speaker 1: of edge. We showed him one on one in pass
- 45:51Speaker 1: pro against a thicker, bigger bodied, power and compression type
- 45:55Speaker 1: of edge. We showed him going in blast motion and
- 45:59Speaker 1: picking up the end man and logging him inside and
- 46:01Speaker 1: sealing him on counter. And now here he is is
- 46:05Speaker 1: the inline tight end functioning on zone on Zoro to
- 46:10Speaker 1: be particular with the toss there. I'm just driving him
- 46:14Speaker 1: out beautiful one more time because this is fun and
- 46:18Speaker 1: I like Marlin Humphrey. He's a good nickel. This sucks
- 46:20Speaker 1: for him that it's just mismatch city all day for him,
- 46:25Speaker 1: gets him off his feet, drives him This next one,
- 46:28Speaker 1: We're going to get nothing crazy on this one. From
- 46:29Speaker 1: a schematic perspective, this is a mid zone run for
- 46:33Speaker 1: the Bills. It is going to the left. Jackson Hawes
- 46:37Speaker 1: is circled in blue there and he will be on
- 46:39Speaker 1: the backside, so he's gonna get a backside one on
- 46:42Speaker 1: one block backside base block here on mid zone. What's
- 46:45Speaker 1: interesting about this one too, We're gonna again we're gonna
- 46:47Speaker 1: go through and watch his hands. He initially goes for
- 46:49Speaker 1: a refit, doesn't get it, but then adjust and tries
- 46:53Speaker 1: to chop across the wrists of Jermaine Johnson, who's a
- 46:57Speaker 1: good edge got actually got hurt in this game for
- 47:00Speaker 1: Bills versus Jetson before he got hurt, he actually had
- 47:02Speaker 1: several really good reps on Spencer Brown and beat him,
- 47:04Speaker 1: but he ended up getting banged up. I don't think
- 47:06Speaker 1: he really played the second half. You're gonna watch Hawes
- 47:08Speaker 1: go for a refit but then chop across the wrists
- 47:11Speaker 1: while moving his feet and getting his body position insides
- 47:15Speaker 1: to stay between Johnson and the ball. This also allows
- 47:19Speaker 1: Dawson Knox to insert and this ends up creating a
- 47:21Speaker 1: nice crease for Cook backside. Again, this is another one
- 47:24Speaker 1: on one type of scenario versus an edge, similar to
- 47:28Speaker 1: what we showed the first two plays. First two plays here,
- 47:30Speaker 1: we're obviously pass pro against Will MacDonald and Bradley Chubb.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Now we just get a run block here against Johnson.
- 47:36Speaker 1: So again you look at the leverage here part of
- 47:39Speaker 1: it too, right, Like, if you're looking at this from
- 47:41Speaker 1: this angle, you let him block him because you can
- 47:45Speaker 1: insert here part of his matchup base right Like you'd
- 47:48Speaker 1: rather have Hawes handle an edge or defensive end than Knocks.
- 47:53Speaker 1: But also part of it two is on angles if
- 47:55Speaker 1: you have everybody kind of zone step this way, Just
- 47:58Speaker 1: based off of the positioning here from Johnson, like this,
- 48:03Speaker 1: Knocks having to reach him here and turn and seal
- 48:07Speaker 1: him is a lot harder than Hawes just having to
- 48:11Speaker 1: boop and kind of cut him off there and then
- 48:13Speaker 1: he kind of fold knocks it in there, just changes
- 48:16Speaker 1: the angles, changes the blocking from more advantageous perspective for
- 48:20Speaker 1: the offense. But watch Hawes boom okay engages with Johnson.
- 48:24Speaker 1: Here we go. Watch Hawes watch this outside arm. You
- 48:27Speaker 1: can see him kind of load it up already right
- 48:31Speaker 1: as Knox is inserting. Watch Haws see he goes for
- 48:34Speaker 1: that refit we we talked about earlier right where he
- 48:37Speaker 1: kind of swung that arm violently underneath, almost like like
- 48:39Speaker 1: a punch to the gut. He goes for it here,
- 48:42Speaker 1: but he can't get it right, it's not there. Just
- 48:46Speaker 1: based off of how Johnson has his hands position and
- 48:49Speaker 1: what the contact point looks like right now, So he changes,
- 48:53Speaker 1: He brings that arm up and tries to punch through
- 48:56Speaker 1: and chop across. But watch as he does that, he
- 48:59Speaker 1: keeps moving his feet and he dips that inside it look,
- 49:02Speaker 1: and sometimes it's not the prettiest thing. Right. We've shown
- 49:04Speaker 1: a lot of reps for Jackson Hawes here where it's like, wow,
- 49:08Speaker 1: look at this technique. Look how clean this says, Look
- 49:10Speaker 1: how pretty it is? A lot of times the trenches
- 49:12Speaker 1: are not pretty. It's I'm trying to think of that
- 49:14Speaker 1: line from the Dude from Succession, where like life isn't
- 49:18Speaker 1: night night knights on horseback, it's a fight with a knife,
- 49:22Speaker 1: with a knife in the mud or something like that,
- 49:23Speaker 1: And that's a lot of times what trench play is.
- 49:25Speaker 1: Sometimes it's really pretty and you have great punch timing
- 49:28Speaker 1: and placement and connection and your feet being in sync
- 49:33Speaker 1: with your hands and everybody executing the same technique at
- 49:35Speaker 1: the same time, and the running back sees it. But
- 49:37Speaker 1: a lot of times it's just ugly. It's just hey,
- 49:40Speaker 1: keep your body in between the defender and the ball,
- 49:43Speaker 1: and that's a win. And Hawes goes for two technique
- 49:46Speaker 1: pieces doesn't get him completely clean. But he just keeps
- 49:49Speaker 1: his body in front of Johnson, just keeps his body
- 49:54Speaker 1: in front of Johnson, playing in real time here several
- 49:56Speaker 1: times just watching him. He goes for that Refit doesn't
- 49:59Speaker 1: get it. You can just keep them, keep your body
- 50:02Speaker 1: in between, not sketch the linebacker, get a little crease again,
- 50:07Speaker 1: there's the numbers advantage backside and where the safety is
- 50:10Speaker 1: for the Jets. That's a solid gain. Look at this
- 50:14Speaker 1: placement that's created. That's an easy you know, four or
- 50:17Speaker 1: five yards ends up. I think being five. It's easy.
- 50:21Speaker 1: You're just people moving. But again, highlighting Haws on the backside.
- 50:26Speaker 1: You know, you'd love for him to be able to
- 50:27Speaker 1: just completely stall him out or seal him at the
- 50:29Speaker 1: line or drive him downfield. But that's a win. Go
- 50:34Speaker 1: for the Refit not there. Let's go for the chop.
- 50:36Speaker 1: Not completely there and clean, but that's fine. Let's keep
- 50:38Speaker 1: moving our feet. Let's just get our body. Okay, go
- 50:42Speaker 1: for that chop. Trying to again chop those wrists, snatch
- 50:45Speaker 1: them a little bit there, doesn't get it clean. Okay, cool,
- 50:47Speaker 1: Let's keep moving the feet, let's keep driving. Let's try
- 50:51Speaker 1: and maintain some leverage, stall do anything we can to
- 50:54Speaker 1: just make it ugly, make it muddy, and staying between
- 50:57Speaker 1: our man and the ball. Still fair. This next one,
- 51:02Speaker 1: as labeled here, we're gonna get a front side block
- 51:05Speaker 1: from mister Jackson Hawes on this outside or wide zone toss.
- 51:11Speaker 1: Hawes again does a really good job. That's why we're
- 51:12Speaker 1: showing it here. He slows the edge and he also
- 51:15Speaker 1: shows really good feet and I'm sorry, really good feel
- 51:18Speaker 1: to not leave him too early. If you're gonna watch
- 51:21Speaker 1: watch he. Hawes is gonna be in tandem here with
- 51:23Speaker 1: Dion Dawkins number seventy three to the right of him.
- 51:26Speaker 1: Dawkins doesn't get leverage right away, so Hawes stays on
- 51:30Speaker 1: that double team until Dawkins has leverage. Plus the safety
- 51:34Speaker 1: I'm twenty nine here, mister Minka Fitzpatrick. He doesn't really
- 51:39Speaker 1: do anything to force Hawes off the double because he
- 51:42Speaker 1: kind of sits back. Hawes reads this, he feels it out,
- 51:45Speaker 1: and then he climbs and he drives Mica again number
- 51:47Speaker 1: twenty nine right out of frame. So let's watch this.
- 51:51Speaker 1: We're gonna bring Palmer InMotion. What's also nice about this
- 51:55Speaker 1: is the Bills used to do this A ton last
- 51:56Speaker 1: year where they would be in like this type of
- 51:58Speaker 1: trips bunch looking different guys. This could be three wide receivers.
- 52:02Speaker 1: This could be a tight end and two wide receivers
- 52:05Speaker 1: like it is. It could be a tight end Alec
- 52:08Speaker 1: Anderson and a wide receiver like There's a variety of
- 52:10Speaker 1: combinations they would put this way. But when they would
- 52:13Speaker 1: send that jet motion across, they would essentially run mid
- 52:20Speaker 1: zone week to this side. So a little bit of
- 52:25Speaker 1: a wrinkle here. Again, this was a major staple concept
- 52:28Speaker 1: for them last year. They'd show this look, send the
- 52:30Speaker 1: jet motion, and then you get that mid zone week
- 52:32Speaker 1: track from Cook. Here they bring Palmer. There's the jet motion.
- 52:36Speaker 1: Maybe the defense is thinking that regardless, they bump over
- 52:39Speaker 1: a little bit. Helps create some good angles for the
- 52:41Speaker 1: front side. Now we're gonna run this zone toss. If
- 52:43Speaker 1: you notice everybody up here is all zone stepping to
- 52:46Speaker 1: the left. We are all in unison on this outside
- 52:50Speaker 1: or wide zone toss. But let's watch Haws here again.
- 52:54Speaker 1: We're gonna go back. Here's our boy eighty five, Jackson Hawes.
- 53:00Speaker 1: Watch the edge jump inside. That's Chop Robinson, so he
- 53:03Speaker 1: tries to jump inside. Right, Dawkins is trying to get him.
- 53:05Speaker 1: They're trying to double this so that Hawes can get
- 53:07Speaker 1: up here and get to Minka. Right, that is what
- 53:10Speaker 1: we are doing right off rip and then Shavers is
- 53:12Speaker 1: going to take the corner here, but Chop dives inside again.
- 53:17Speaker 1: This is the tougher block for Dawkins. You have to
- 53:19Speaker 1: be able to get to this guy and either drive
- 53:21Speaker 1: him out if you can't cross his face or across
- 53:23Speaker 1: his face, reach him and kind of seal him. And
- 53:25Speaker 1: then you get a seal here and hopefully cook and
- 53:27Speaker 1: bang it up there inside. But here's Hawes on Chop.
- 53:32Speaker 1: You see Dawkins obviously trying to make contact and gain
- 53:35Speaker 1: control here. You see look at Hawes just staying on
- 53:38Speaker 1: that inside shoulder. We'll watch that at that first level first, right,
- 53:42Speaker 1: Chop is trying to drive across here. He's trying to
- 53:45Speaker 1: wash this thing out. He's trying to muddy it up.
- 53:48Speaker 1: Look at Hawes, he stays on him, stays on him.
- 53:50Speaker 1: Eventually gets that hand, pushes him back inside a little bit.
- 53:54Speaker 1: Dawkins is able to get some leverage. And see now
- 53:56Speaker 1: he's not chasing Chop anymore. Right, Chop isn't with his
- 54:00Speaker 1: body out here, and Dawkins is horizontal. Now Dawkins is
- 54:04Speaker 1: able to get into his body, drive him vertical, and
- 54:06Speaker 1: you notice there's the arm from Hawes. He's feeding Chop
- 54:11Speaker 1: Robinson to Dion Dawkins and now he's making his way
- 54:16Speaker 1: to make a Fitzpatrick stalking him. Bang contact and drive
- 54:21Speaker 1: him out, drive him right out of frame. Real, pretty
- 54:24Speaker 1: real nice. Now the other thing I wanted to highlight
- 54:27Speaker 1: and SlowMo again, Hawes is feeling it. He knows he's
- 54:29Speaker 1: trying to feed Chop. He's trying to help out Dawkins.
- 54:32Speaker 1: But again, keep an eye on Minca here. Minca doesn't
- 54:35Speaker 1: charge this right away. He doesn't force Hawes to come
- 54:37Speaker 1: off the double, and Hawes does a good job by
- 54:40Speaker 1: not bailing Minca out here, bailing out Chop like he's
- 54:44Speaker 1: sitting there, knows that that's the guy he's trying to
- 54:46Speaker 1: get to. But if he's not threatening, let me stay
- 54:49Speaker 1: on this double, let me help out Dawkins. Okay, MINC's
- 54:52Speaker 1: coming a little bit, but he breaks down, settles again.
- 54:55Speaker 1: Let me stay Okay, cool, I keep that arm there,
- 54:57Speaker 1: let me keep feeding him. Now I pull off because
- 55:00Speaker 1: I feel Dawkins has control, right MIKEA doesn't do anything
- 55:06Speaker 1: to force him off. Hawes decides that, but it's good
- 55:08Speaker 1: for him to have the composure and the feel and
- 55:10Speaker 1: the recognition and the processing to know that he doesn't
- 55:13Speaker 1: have to leave that double until he has to leave
- 55:15Speaker 1: that double, and then he drives. Makea right out of
- 55:18Speaker 1: the play. We'll watch in real time here so you
- 55:21Speaker 1: can get the full experience. That's really nice front side action.
- 55:25Speaker 1: Good job by Tyrol Shavers too. Even a good job
- 55:28Speaker 1: from Edwards doing what he can at left guard there,
- 55:32Speaker 1: David Edwards at left guard. Watch Edwards at left guard here.
- 55:36Speaker 1: I know he's not the focus of this episode of
- 55:38Speaker 1: this play, but watch Edwards at left guard right here.
- 55:40Speaker 1: He's got a three tech lined up on his outside
- 55:44Speaker 1: shoulder there, so Edwards has to get out of his
- 55:46Speaker 1: stance quick because the angles are not on his side.
- 55:49Speaker 1: He's got to get out of his stands quick to
- 55:50Speaker 1: try and cross face. And watch Edwards just get out
- 55:54Speaker 1: of his stance, Bank tries to go for that outside chop.
- 55:58Speaker 1: Get some positioning. This is just really well done on
- 56:01Speaker 1: the front side. Shavers, Hawes, Dawkins, Edwards. Also a really
- 56:06Speaker 1: good job. Watch Cook pacing this run, waiting waiting boom
- 56:11Speaker 1: wait for that crease to develop. He trusts that that
- 56:14Speaker 1: crease is going to develop, and then he hits it.
- 56:16Speaker 1: Even Connor McGovern sixty six climb into the second level,
- 56:20Speaker 1: getting a piece of Dodson doing what he can to
- 56:22Speaker 1: impact him. Really good work from the center over on
- 56:26Speaker 1: that left side. But Hawes is obviously the tip of
- 56:28Speaker 1: the spear here working with that double with Dawkins climb
- 56:31Speaker 1: into the second level and then boom driving Fitzpatrick right
- 56:36Speaker 1: out of the picture. Really nice, really really nice from
- 56:40Speaker 1: mister Jackson Hawes. This last play we're going to look
- 56:43Speaker 1: at is the block and touchdown catch from the game
- 56:47Speaker 1: against the Miami Dolphins. I did not put the catch
- 56:49Speaker 1: from the Baltimore Ravens game in Week one, that big, long,
- 56:53Speaker 1: essentially triple catch where Hawes bobbles it a couple of
- 56:57Speaker 1: times and then pins it against his helmets. Last fly
- 57:00Speaker 1: catches it right on the goal line. That play has
- 57:02Speaker 1: been talked about a ton, We talked about on social,
- 57:05Speaker 1: we talked about in the film room. So I didn't
- 57:06Speaker 1: want to just completely drill down on that too much
- 57:10Speaker 1: and highlight him because it's been overtalked a ton. So
- 57:13Speaker 1: if you wanted to see that ipolotis or not having that,
- 57:15Speaker 1: but this one is really nice and it just happened recently.
- 57:17Speaker 1: So we're gonna get Hawes coming in motion. Looks like
- 57:21Speaker 1: he's going in that jet motion or some blast and
- 57:24Speaker 1: then he's gonna slam on the brakes and fall down.
- 57:27Speaker 1: We're gonna get a return motion from him. We're trying
- 57:30Speaker 1: to bluff this thing like it is a split zone.
- 57:33Speaker 1: So he's going to engage Matthew june On here. Shout
- 57:37Speaker 1: out to Jude on rocking the orange long sleeves. I
- 57:39Speaker 1: think that looks good with this Dolphins Jersey's a really
- 57:42Speaker 1: solid aesthetic. So they're trying to make this thing look
- 57:45Speaker 1: like split zone. You're getting zone block into the right
- 57:47Speaker 1: across the board. Here comes Hawes to take out the
- 57:51Speaker 1: end man of the line of scrimmage, you know, either
- 57:53Speaker 1: like just seal him or cut him, take his legs
- 57:55Speaker 1: out so that way Cook can either go this way
- 57:57Speaker 1: or cut it back and go. Y'all, so you are
- 58:00Speaker 1: if you're the Bills with this concept, you're essentially bluffing
- 58:03Speaker 1: like it's split zone here, and you're gonna see Jackson
- 58:07Speaker 1: Hawes engage Judon again. They want to make it look
- 58:09Speaker 1: like split zone. But watch him fit his hands, get
- 58:12Speaker 1: inside and under Judon and lift him up a little bit.
- 58:16Speaker 1: That's what causes Judehan to slip. I'm sure everyone is
- 58:18Speaker 1: familiar with this play. At first, when I watched it
- 58:21Speaker 1: real time, I was like, oh, Judon just slipped and
- 58:23Speaker 1: he kind of fell down. I don't think he necessarily
- 58:25Speaker 1: like wrecked him. I saw people being like, well, like
- 58:27Speaker 1: he just mashed him and just absolutely took him out.
- 58:30Speaker 1: Judan does slip, but Hawes causes that slip, which I
- 58:34Speaker 1: think is a really nice thing to see. And then
- 58:37Speaker 1: he's gonna release to the flat and make himself available
- 58:39Speaker 1: for Josh Allen. So here comes Hawes slips. That's okay,
- 58:44Speaker 1: return motion. Let's bluff the split zone. Watch him get
- 58:48Speaker 1: into They meet right, not great positioning. Judon's kind of
- 58:53Speaker 1: just bent over. Look at the hand placement. You see
- 58:55Speaker 1: this one bang little bent And where is it right
- 58:58Speaker 1: on that chest plate, right on that breast right above
- 59:01Speaker 1: the number or almost like right to the left of
- 59:03Speaker 1: where that font is in the center of the jersey
- 59:05Speaker 1: that says dolphins or lions or bills or whatever. Look
- 59:10Speaker 1: at the hands. Now, watch him lift and get under him.
- 59:16Speaker 1: That takes Judan off of his one foot and his
- 59:20Speaker 1: one foot that's on the ground, this left one, he's
- 59:22Speaker 1: kind of on the outside of his foot, almost rolling
- 59:24Speaker 1: his ankle a little bit. Not a solid base, not
- 59:26Speaker 1: a solid foundation, just slips, essentially face plants. Then he releases.
- 59:34Speaker 1: Then Josh Allen has another one for the and one mixtape,
- 59:38Speaker 1: feeds it to Hawes watch in real time. This is
- 59:41Speaker 1: nice again. At first I was like, oh, he just
- 59:43Speaker 1: make contact with Judon and Judon just slips. But Hawes
- 59:46Speaker 1: causes that, gets good inside it, gets good inside hand position,
- 59:53Speaker 1: and starts to drive and lift a little bit. Again.
- 59:55Speaker 1: He just wants to engage him, pop him, and then
- 59:58Speaker 1: let go and get to the flat. But the fact
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: that he can engage him and knock him down completely,
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: now again he just wants to You just want to
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: impede jude On, bang him inside so that way Alan
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: when he boots and he sprints out here, he's clean. Right.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: You just don't want that guy to affect Allen in
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: any way. But this works out even better than you
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: would have drawn it up because Judon goes down, so
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: now Allen just gets to sit there and figure out
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: what he wants to do. Does he want to put
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: oh so Douglas in hell out there and run at
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: him and try and juke him or run through him,
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: or we'll just play a little game here. Oh you're
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: committing okay, cool, let me just back flip that like
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: a second baseman go into a shortstop for a double play.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: But that's just really nice for pause. Again, that's what
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: you can offer here. And also from the actual apt
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: like the play calling aspect, again, this has a threat
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: to it because if they're running split zone, this is
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: a viable like you have that sniffer tight end, you
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: have that pull across the formation from Jackson Hawes. This
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: is a viable thing. Like you're seeing that. You're reading
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: that as like, okay, this is play action, like or
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: not play action. This is run. So you have to
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: honor the run. That's a real thing. You can't just
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: assume it's play action. You can't not honor the run.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: You have to play like it's real if you're that
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: end man on the line of scrimmage, because Jackson Hawes
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: is a real blocker and that's a real thing you
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: have to deal with. And then Hawes gets in, gets
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: under lifts and torques a bit ju and I can't
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: get his footing. He's on the ground. We're off to
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: the races. Ridiculous play from Allen. I also love to
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: the spike from Hawes and watch Knox come and just
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: hug them. It's great, good stuff, really really good stuff.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: I did the same thing last week where I, huh,
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: couldn't figure out how to keep myself back on to
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: the screen there. So yeah, so that's the film. Really
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: nice stuff from Jackson Hawes. I know it's been talked
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: about by a lot of folks. He's even getting some
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: national media coverage, which is cool. But I wanted to
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: focus on him in this episode because he has been
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: one of my favorite parts of this entire season. His physicality,
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: his ability, And it's not just the physical presence that
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: he brings and the physicality right like him driving guys
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: downfield and taking guys for ride and driving them out
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: of frame and chucking dudes a little bit and putting
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: a little sauce on it with his blocks at the end,
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: pushing guys a little bit, taking him to the ground,
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: chucking them. But it's the technicality with which he also operates.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: It's the hand positioning. It's the body positioning. It's the leverage.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: It's the understanding of where to put his body and
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: not to stop moving his feet. It's the timing of
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: the hands with the feet and how in sync he is.
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: It's the ability to refit his hands while anchoring. Like
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: just that ability is awesome. It's it's being able to
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: execute a snatching trap. Like all of these things. You
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: know you're facing one type of edge. Cool, hit him
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: with a snatch trap, refit your hands inside. You're facing
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: a much different kind of edge. After up, he's driving
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: you back a little bit. Cool, Let me refit my hand,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: Let me snap that hand in there, clamp it as
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: I refit it, and then anchor and ride my man wide.
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: Just the versatility that he has in pass pro against
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: various body types and sizes at edge, and his ability
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: in the run blocking game as well. The function we
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: showed him. Send him in blast motion, let him lead
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: counter right, let him focus on the backside as we
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: run mid zone to the other side. He can base
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: block and cut some dudes off. I didn't even show
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: several of them where he'll just take an edge and
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: tandem with like Spencer Brown on the right side. There's
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: one really good one against the Ravens, think against Ardarius Washington,
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: where Washington's trying to like settle himself in the gap
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: and Hawes just washes him the hell down on mid
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: zone and Cook cuts it back right off of Haweses.
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: But and it's just there's plenty of space there because
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: Hawes washes down that defensive end and washes down that side.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: He's just can function of a lot of variety of
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: ways gap scheme zone at the point of attack on
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: the front side. On the backside, you can send him
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: in motion, you can have him to play action stuff.
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: You can use him as a pass catcher a little bit.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: And then as we start to stack things going forward,
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: right now, we can show these base block looks in
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: pass pro right or in the run game how we
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: want to kind of focus on it. And now we
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: can have him take and engage and then shed that
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: guy and leak out into the flat like a lot
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: of teams do with their tight ends. Allah, give me
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: the Tucker Craft type of usage for Jackson Hawes, because Craft,
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: I think Tucker Craft right now is putting himself into
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: the George Kittle conversation in terms of like to get
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: next guy to kind of take that throne for Kittle
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: from Kittle in terms of like the best overall tight
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: end in football being able to function legitimately as a
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: force as a run blocker, but also be a force
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: as a pass catcher. Kittle's been the best at that
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: for years, and I think Tucker Craft is starting to
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: get into that mold where he can function in a
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: variety of well the things that we talked about tonight,
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: for Craft or for Hawes, Craft can do a lot
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: of that. You can have one on one in pass pro.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: You can bring him in motion and have him lead
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: out lead on counter. You can him follow the guard
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: and be the second guy you know on these counter looks.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: Or you can have him lead and kick the end
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: man out. There's a variety of things you can do.
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: He can be the follow through guy on gap scheme,
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: he can be the kickout guy or the log guy
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: on gap. You can have him function at the point
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: of attack on zone on the backside. And he's also
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: just a monster as a pass catcher. But then you
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: start to kind of lean into those games and those
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: things where engage base block psych shed leak out into
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: the flat and now there's nobody there, or you're getting
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: him one on one with a corner, and now you
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: got to force that corner on the outside to come
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: up and tackle this big, hulking type of tight end.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: What's some of the stuff that the Packers do with craft.
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: I could see the Bills starting to lean into some
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: of that with Hawes because of what he is as
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: a blocker, because of how they're using him in line,
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: because he is able to function one on one against
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: defensive ends and edges of defense. Isn't going to see
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: that and be like, no, they're not going to let
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: him do that. That's a tendency breaker. That's a bad matchup.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: Let's watch for him leaking out. They're not going to
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: see that or think that necessarily because Hawes can hold
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: his own. So now you get to start stack. Oh
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: oh so close. I had that opening flub in the
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: first thirty seconds, and I didn't have one until now. Actually,
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: maybe I had a couple others. Things start to stack right,
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: So you have the dictation capability because of Hawes and
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: this tight end grouping. You have the mismatch creation and
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: the run in the past, the run pass conflict. All
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: of that stuff but then you can start to stack
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: the different play action games. You can marry the run
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: in the past and marry play action with your run
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: concepts and everything you can start to lean into it
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: starts get really fun. That's the big thing I always
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: start to look for. Next, we showed a lot of
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: these again, these base blocks in the run. But then
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: you know the one on one pass pro situations, those
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: two plays we let off with against MacDonald and Chubb.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: I would start to watch for those. And now he's
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: shedding that man inside or letting him come upfield, and
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: he's releasing into the flat, and now it's an easy,
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: you know, eight or nine yard gain on first down
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: or second down, or maybe more if depending on the coverage,
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: or if that corner comes up and Hawes runs through him.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: So get a little bit of that uh chucker craft
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: type of usage for Jackson Hawes, and I think that
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: would be absolutely, absolutely splendid. I want to go back here.
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: A lot of wow, a lot of comments, a lot
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: of comments, bum bum bum bomb. Uh where did we
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: leave Claude says Jackson Hawes gives the Bills what they
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: thought they would originally get when they drafted Dalonkin. Kate
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: even better. He takes the pressure all together. Two tight ends,
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: I think it's a different skill set, but I think
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: from the dictation standpoint, like you're if you're a team
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: that's gonna use a lot of twelve personnel, you need
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: both tight ends to be functional run blockers against as
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: many body types as possible, and then also be functional
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: pass catchers because you need to be able to put
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: teams in a run pass conflict and personnel conflict. You
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: have to force them to. Uh, we really don't want
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: to match with a nickel because both those Titans can
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: match dbs. Also, we don't want to play bass because
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: if we bring a bigger body in to replace the nickel,
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: both those guys are a mismatches pass catchers. That's type
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: of you know, help that you want to put a
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: defense into. I don't think Kate necessarily was ever going
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: to be that guy because the type of blocker that
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: he is, but he does offer you some dictation and
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: some mismatch capability. Again, I think Hawes very much is
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: right now like the inverse of Kinkaid in terms of
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: their skill sets and play style.
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: But fair.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: Also, you know, I want I almost wanted to show
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: because it was just funny when Hawes got blown up
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: against Miami. I forget who it was that blew him up,
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: but just kind of came off the tackle and just
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: bang popped him right in the face and knocked him
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: on his butt. That was funny. I like that again,
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: not for pause, but it was funny. M m hmmm.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: Padden says, I love our tight end room. It might
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: be our second best room behind the old line. Mhm.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: I actually think that's probably accurate. Not because I'm doubting
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: you Peden, or because they're gonna move to main edge,
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: but just because I'm thinking about it for the first
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: I think that's probably true. Yeah, which is really nice,
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: really nice, and it's tight. Boris has done a really
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: good job as a tight ends coach. It ties into
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: Chromer a little bit as well. Really nice, really nice.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: Oh yeah, okay, more you calling out Keon doing good
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: work on that play, Darren manthrew. Yeah. I think Keon's
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: had a nice start to the year. I know he's
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: had a couple of like drops here and there, but
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: I think Keon has been solid as a locker and
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: is a pass catcher. But it's cool to see again
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: this tight end room develop and come together. And now
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: this is kind of becoming a tip of the spear
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: and focal point for this team, which is pretty awesome.
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: Patten says, you could move Kinkaid outside on something like
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: a thirteen and a half. All jokes aside. What I
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: would like them to do is go, you know, technically
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: twenty two or twenty three. I should say, where that
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: like cluster attached to the formation and like a trip's look,
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: or it could be whatever type of lineman like attached
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: to the formation or hipped off inline, but it like
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: it would be Hawes and Knox and Gillium and then
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: Kinkaid is split out wide it's like a quasix. Or
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: it could be Knocks and Hawes and Anderson or Anderson, Hawes, Gillium,
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: Kinkaid split out as that quasix. I absolutely would love
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: to see that. I mentioned it during the off season
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: as something that they could do. I would really, really
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: really like to see that. And then yeah, they start
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: to I'm seeing a lot of the comments kind of
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: go through these says, Yeah, like they need if they
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: start to tie in more play action and that that
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: starts to allow you to to generate some chunk plays
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: in the intermediate or maybe some shot plays downfield. Things
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: start to open up a little bit in the past
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: without having to go spread and have these concepts designed
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: to take advantage of what coverage and read. You know,
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: the safety's pre snap and the pilot picture changes post snap.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: You just get into these run looks where you've been
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: mashing teams, and then you go play action to Kincaid
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: or Knox or one of the wide receivers or even Hawes. Potentially,
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: if you get some space underneath or you hit Kincaid
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: in the intermediate, the load emit intermediate or able to
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: take a shot to Palmer, you're able to take a
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: shot to Keyon. Things start to stack a little bit,
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: which is fun. M oh Man negative comments or Sean McDermott,
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: that's intense, Okay, that this is a good comment for
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: mister free and cleary. He says, Cook already knows that
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: Hawes is the guy to follow. Yeah, you could do
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: a lot worse than just following Jackson Hawes wherever he goes.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: Same thing with Gilliam. Joe says, orange sleeves make Jude
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: look like a traffic cone, which is fitting considering he
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: got moved like one on this play. That's very funny.
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: But I do like the orange sleeves, just like I
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: liked the red sleeves he wore when he was in
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: New England. It's a good look. Ooh, James says, will
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: thirteen be our go to red zone formation? I could
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: see that because you have to honor the run and
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: then the play action element is there. I really just
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: when you get into the red zone, especially the low
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: red zone inside the ten, I'm just mashing. I more
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: often than not, I'll just run duo and just run
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: it to the right Torrents to Brown to Hawes to
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: Gilliam or Anderson or even Knox, and I'm just people
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: moving and mashing, and then we'll stack some play action
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: stuff from there. It's nice. Paul says Hawes is an
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: offensive lineman number like a tight end because he can
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: do tight end stuff. It's very fair, very fair, very fair,
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: very fair. You know what else is very fair? The
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: best pizza in Buffalo, New York. One Pie Pizza. I
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: say it every week. They are I don't say that
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: they're the best pizza in Buffalo, New York because they
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: sponsor the show. They sponsor the show because I think
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: they are the best pizza in Buffalo, New York. Delicious
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: sweet sauce pie cup and charred pepperoni, homemade blue cheese,
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: a great cheese, the sauce ratio. They chop up different
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: toppings and ingredients evenly and sprinkle them across the pie.
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: They named a pizza after the show and the Cover
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: One brand. It's called the Cover One Alan Goat. I'm
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: not going to spoil the ingredients because when you read them,
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: it's much better than hearing what they are and it's
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: absolutely delicious. They also do it like if you want
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: a healthy stuff, they do some really good salads they
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: you can grab as well. They also do a really
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: great breakfast pizza. They also have a catering division called
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: Elevated Catering of Buffalo. I've had them do several events
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: for myself and my family over the past several years,
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: and it's hit every time. And it's not just like
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: you can get pizza stuff too, but they make all
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: these different types of mac and cheeses. This shrimp and
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: rice dish, it was like a coconut shrimp and rice thing.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: And I'm not a big coconut guy, but this thing
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: just absolutely slapped. They again, everything they make is great, sincerely,
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: and I'm not just saying that it's absolutely delicious. If
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: you have not gotten yourself some one Pi pizza, you
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: should be a shamed of yourself. Get yourself one pie pizza
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: as quickly and as properly as you can. They're really
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: good people making really good food. And I say they're
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: really good people because of all the different initiatives and
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: things that they do for the City of Buffalo in
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: the community at large. Partner with Roswell and Knockout Cancer,
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: Partner with the SPCA, Partnering with the Alzheimer's Foundation. They
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: are annual Toys for Tots drive, which keep that in
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: your back pocket. They will be starting that soon for
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: the holiday season. I think Toys for Tots is one
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: of the most awesome things and drives every year because
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: the holidays are awesome, but it's not always awesome for everyone.
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: So anything you can do to kind of help some
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: kids out or families out in need, I think it's awesome.
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: So Toys for Tots is great And for every toy
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: you donate, they'll give you a ticket gets entered into
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: a raffle for a bunch of different awesome prizes like
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: autograph Bill's jerseys or helmets, Sabers, tickets, Sabers, Memorabilion, signed stuff,
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: free pizza, just a whole bunch of great stuff. So
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: if you haven't tried one Pi pizza, check it out online.
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: Menu can be found in the episode show and so
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: they're here on YouTube Orrigchever podcasting Apple platform you're listening
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: to this show on the catering link can be found
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: in the same spot underneath it. And yeah, I think
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: that'll do it for us. Here in this episode, James says,
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: you came so very close to a motorcycle passer by
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: free film room earlier. It's like that chopper knew what
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: time it was, dude. It was nuts. For those who
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: don't know, every time we do the film room there's
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: always like a motorcycle that rides by outside when I
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: have the windows open. It's been like different ones, and
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: this week it was just nuts because we did it
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: on a Thursday in the afternoon, not normally like a
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: Wednesday at five, and I still got the motorcycle. It's
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: just crazy, I know. Yeah, it's really like someone is
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: watching this show on their phone on their bike and
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: as soon as they get to the outshow, they're like,
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: all right, cool, rev it up and ride by real fast,
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: which I would respect the hell out of somebody if
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: they did that. That would be very funny. I'm gonna
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: start to say goodbye. If you have not already, please
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: please please, and thenk you drop alike on this video.

- 1:16:20Speaker 1: I'll probably never find out. But yeah, so if you
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: weren't planning on dropping aike, if you could now, that
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: would be great because it would counteract the Downboats and
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: likes are great for the algorithm, and they are the

- 1:17:42Speaker 1: form or fashion, thank you very much for tuning in
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: to this episode. I want to go grab this real
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: quick from Adrian who says, what do you think about
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: signing CJ. Gardner Johnson. I don't think he fits for
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: I don't know what he is off the field, but
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: based on the fact that he seems the kind of
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: keep wearing out is welcome with multiple teams, I don't
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: think he's really a Bill's culture fit guy. I love
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: his play style and the sand paper that he brings
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: and the violence, and I would welcome that, but it
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: seems like he's kind of a headache off the field.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: And though I think the Bill's culture could absorb that
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: and it'd be fine. And he is a gamer and
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: he's a high level player in a variety of ways.
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: I don't think he necessarily fits from a scheme fit
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: perspective from a culture standpoint, but I would welcome him
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: because he's awesome at times on the field and the
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: violence and physicality that he plays with are absolutely awesome. Yeah.
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: Hope you folks enjoyed this episode. Tell if you did,
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: tell your family, friends and loved ones about it, if
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: they're Bills fans, if they're football fans, whatever. I think
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: a lot of what I do here from an ex's
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: and o's and scheme and structure standpoint transcends just the
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: Bills piece, or at least that's what my hope is.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: So yeah, hope you folks enjoyed this episode. Enjoy the
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: rest of your Tuesday night. If you enjoyed this episode,
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: tell your family, friends and loved ones about it. If
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: you hated this, so tell your enemies about it and
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: try and make them watch it and ruin their night
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: or day or week or whatever have you. I hope
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: you and your family and friends and loved ones are
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: all doing well and staying safe. Be kind to one another,
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: take care of one another. If you're going to the
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: Bills game this weekend, enjoy, have fun, be safe, be smart,
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: be responsible. If you're in town and visiting, get yourself
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: some one PI pizza. That means you, Joe DeRosa, get
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: yourself some one PI pizza. Joy the rest of your
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: Tuesday night. Appreciate you, folks. I see a lot of
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: the kind words that were coming through for myself in
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: the live chat. As always, I don't pull those up
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: when I'm solos. I think it's corny to just pull
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: up that stuff about myself. But I see all of it.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: I greatly appreciate it, and I'm very thankful for it,
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: and yeah, i'll see you when I see you. Godspeed,
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: and as always go Bills.
