- 0:22Speaker 1: You are listening to Eagles postgame analysis here at the
- 0:25Speaker 1: Philadelphia Sports Table podcast show, the longest running weekly Philly
- 0:28Speaker 1: sports podcast show in the world, twelve years strong. And yes,
- 0:33Speaker 1: week one of this Philadelphia Eagles twenty twenty five twenty
- 0:37Speaker 1: twenty six season is now in the books. They beat
- 0:40Speaker 1: the Dallas Cowboys and the home opener by a score
- 0:43Speaker 1: of twenty four to twenty and we are going to
- 0:46Speaker 1: dive into the themes here of this game. We're gonna
- 0:50Speaker 1: go through some stats as well, dissecting what we saw
- 0:52Speaker 1: from this Philadelphia Eagles team on offense and defense, special
- 0:57Speaker 1: teams as well. I'm Jeff Warren. I am riding solo
- 1:01Speaker 1: here as man. This game ended a bit late, folks.
- 1:05Speaker 1: If you were living under a rock, you'd know that
- 1:08Speaker 1: this game was delayed for approximately an hour because of lightning,
- 1:13Speaker 1: and a lot of us are just waiting around. Philadelphia Eagles,
- 1:16Speaker 1: waiting around Dallas Cowboys waiting around. Cannot imagine being in
- 1:20Speaker 1: the middle of a game, the heightened emotions and vibes,
- 1:25Speaker 1: only to be told, Okay, you gotta stop playing football.
- 1:28Speaker 1: You know you're trying to get back into football shape.
- 1:30Speaker 1: First game of the year. There is a lot of
- 1:32Speaker 1: rust all over the place, both teams, in all units
- 1:37Speaker 1: on the field. Quite frankly, you're told you got to
- 1:40Speaker 1: wait an hour until the lightning passes down at the link.
- 1:44Speaker 1: And you know, we saw some slop in the second half.
- 1:47Speaker 1: First half, a lot of high powered offense. The defenses
- 1:51Speaker 1: did not look good on both sides of the ball
- 1:54Speaker 1: as well. But again, gonna get into the themes here.
- 1:57Speaker 1: So I think it's safe to say probably the most
- 2:01Speaker 1: undisciplined Eagles game to start a season that we probably
- 2:05Speaker 1: have ever seen. Of course, have to mention right off
- 2:08Speaker 1: the bat here Jalen Carter getting tossed right after the
- 2:12Speaker 1: kickoff for spitting on Dak Prescott. Now, I have to
- 2:18Speaker 1: say it was circulating throughout the game on the socials
- 2:21Speaker 1: out there that Dak actually spat at Jalen Carter first,
- 2:26Speaker 1: or at least within the vicinity of Jalen Carter. Of course,
- 2:29Speaker 1: Dak Prescott not being flagged for that. Jalen Carter making
- 2:32Speaker 1: an absolutely stupid stupid move in spitting right on Dak
- 2:40Speaker 1: right as a referee is next to him. It's just
- 2:43Speaker 1: one of the dumbest moves. It's gonna be interesting to
- 2:46Speaker 1: see how he handles this moving forward, how Nick Sirianni
- 2:50Speaker 1: and the Eagles organization handle this moving forward. You can't
- 2:53Speaker 1: do that. You can't be that dumb. You can't be
- 2:55Speaker 1: that stupid. Again, yes, heightened emotions during this first game,
- 2:59Speaker 1: but it can't happen. Jason Kelcey with the tweet, though, saying,
- 3:03Speaker 1: this is the most wild start to an NFL season
- 3:05Speaker 1: of all time. First play of the game, one player
- 3:08Speaker 1: is carted off. We'll get to that in a second.
- 3:10Speaker 1: The other rejected. I mean, everybody knows you don't spit,
- 3:12Speaker 1: you swallow obviously. Oh thanks a lot, Jason. We did
- 3:17Speaker 1: have a Jeff Kerr tweet. Our good friend the Show
- 3:20Speaker 1: from CBS Sports said Jalen Carter has the fastest ejection
- 3:24Speaker 1: in an NFL game since Jeremiah Trotter back in thousand
- 3:29Speaker 1: two thousand and five. Trotter was ejected in a pregame
- 3:33Speaker 1: fight with Kevin Mathis in Week one on Monday Night
- 3:36Speaker 1: Football against the Falcons. A lot of us do remember that.
- 3:41Speaker 1: It took Jeff's tweet for me to recall that, but
- 3:44Speaker 1: absolutely remember that for sure. So that being said, Jalen
- 3:48Speaker 1: Carter is kicked out of the game, disqualified, and it
- 3:52Speaker 1: really hurt this Eagles defense right off the bat and
- 3:55Speaker 1: essentially affected the whole team as well. Defense just looking
- 4:00Speaker 1: soft right out of the gate, absolutely just letting the
- 4:03Speaker 1: Cowboys drive down the field and score on the very
- 4:07Speaker 1: first possession of the game. And in fact, by the way, folks,
- 4:12Speaker 1: we didn't see any punts in the first half by
- 4:15Speaker 1: either team. I mean, that's how much of an offensive
- 4:17Speaker 1: juggernaut we ended up seeing. But really the defense not
- 4:22Speaker 1: having Jalen Carter, it meant a lot, it did. It
- 4:25Speaker 1: affected then the secondary too. It affected guys like a
- 4:29Speaker 1: Dori Jackson who's just playing atrocious football. Look, there are
- 4:35Speaker 1: a lot of us folks that during the course of
- 4:37Speaker 1: the summer leading up to this game, we're saying to ourselves,
- 4:41Speaker 1: you know, I think Dori Jackson is cooked at this point?
- 4:44Speaker 1: Is he really gonna make the team? I've been talking
- 4:46Speaker 1: about it on this podcast platform, And yes, he really did.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Looked cooked. Gave up a ton of yards in the
- 4:54Speaker 1: first half, especially to Ceedee Lamb got called for just
- 4:59Speaker 1: a passing or appearance calling the end zone as we know,
- 5:02Speaker 1: in the first half, first quarter that was it looked horrible.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Just the holding I just couldn't believe what I was
- 5:11Speaker 1: seeing with the Dori Jackson. He appeared maybe he was injured,
- 5:14Speaker 1: appeared to be benched at the end of the second quarter,
- 5:17Speaker 1: right before the half Ja Cory and Bennett came in.
- 5:21Speaker 1: He had a pass interference call on him. Then a
- 5:23Speaker 1: Dori Jackson was back out on the field in the
- 5:25Speaker 1: second half, giving up a lot of big yards for sure,
- 5:29Speaker 1: But really, I mean, this Eagles defense again looking soft.
- 5:32Speaker 1: The Cowboys were consistently running the ball on third and
- 5:36Speaker 1: short right up the middle. Why you don't have Jalen
- 5:40Speaker 1: Carter there? And they continued to do it throughout the game.
- 5:46Speaker 1: There is you know, some I guess silver lining to
- 5:49Speaker 1: an extent with the defense. There was a play in
- 5:52Speaker 1: the third quarter that I want to briefly mention. Jihad
- 5:56Speaker 1: Campbell had a pass breakup that was deep down the
- 5:59Speaker 1: middle of the field that you just don't expect from
- 6:03Speaker 1: a typical linebacker, you know, an off ball linebacker to
- 6:09Speaker 1: be doing that. The guy is going to be special.
- 6:12Speaker 1: The speed that we saw from him fantastic. And look,
- 6:16Speaker 1: the Eagles defense again from a silver lining perspective, did
- 6:19Speaker 1: show up towards the end of the game in the
- 6:21Speaker 1: fourth quarter as the secondary was just battling it out
- 6:24Speaker 1: in coverage was really solid on CD Lamb and yeah,
- 6:28Speaker 1: ceedee Lamb was dropping some balls in this game. He
- 6:31Speaker 1: probably should have caught and that's on him for sure.
- 6:34Speaker 1: But the secondary really was battling throughout the course of
- 6:39Speaker 1: the second half. Because look, you didn't have the Dallas
- 6:43Speaker 1: Cowboys scoring any points in the fourth quarter. You didn't
- 6:46Speaker 1: have the Philadelphia Eagle scoring any either. But there's definitely
- 6:50Speaker 1: concern with this defense. Next week against Kansas City gonna
- 6:54Speaker 1: be interesting to see if Jalen Carter being out there.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Who knows, maybe he won't be out there, Maybe there'll
- 6:59Speaker 1: be a suspension for this or something. If Jalen Carter
- 7:03Speaker 1: is out there, how much this changes and alters the
- 7:06Speaker 1: course of the defense because this defense again just looked soft.
- 7:11Speaker 1: We obviously saw what not having veteran presence in the
- 7:15Speaker 1: secondary with Darius Slay, with CJ. Gardner Johnson, what that
- 7:19Speaker 1: meant to this Eagle secondary. Let's get into some other
- 7:24Speaker 1: themes here. I mean, aside from you know, the Eagles
- 7:28Speaker 1: team at general just being undisciplined. During the first half
- 7:32Speaker 1: of this game. The Cowboys were penalized twice for twenty
- 7:34Speaker 1: two yards. Eagles were penalized seven times for ninety three yards.
- 7:39Speaker 1: The Eagles offense did not lay a stinker in the
- 7:44Speaker 1: first quarter like we have been so used to and
- 7:46Speaker 1: accustomed to over these past couple of years. I mean,
- 7:49Speaker 1: that's been an ongoing theme. Can the Eagles score in
- 7:52Speaker 1: the first quarter. We saw good stuff from this team
- 7:54Speaker 1: in the first quarter, Kevin Patulo and Nick Sirianni putting
- 7:58Speaker 1: together a really good game. I like the fact that
- 8:02Speaker 1: the Eagles went right down the field right during their
- 8:05Speaker 1: first possession. I mean, Jalen Hurts was precise. There was
- 8:09Speaker 1: precision with his passes, Saquon Barkley, Will Shipley getting involved,
- 8:13Speaker 1: and the wide receivers blocking. Folks, if you go back
- 8:17Speaker 1: and look at some of the tape in the video,
- 8:21Speaker 1: you are going to see in that first quarter our
- 8:24Speaker 1: wide receivers I'm talking Devonte Smith, John Dotson blocking. It
- 8:30Speaker 1: was absolutely great to see that out there, allowing Saquon
- 8:34Speaker 1: Barkley to get tons of yards in that first half,
- 8:37Speaker 1: specifically the first quarter as well. We saw a lot
- 8:40Speaker 1: more passes over the middle from Jalen Hurts I think
- 8:43Speaker 1: than we have probably ever seen, and I have to say,
- 8:47Speaker 1: always looking poisoned in the pocket, and that's what you
- 8:50Speaker 1: want from your quarterback. That's what you want from your
- 8:52Speaker 1: Super Bowl MVP quarterback. Very very mature play on the
- 8:58Speaker 1: field from Jalen Hurts, really not making any stinkers of
- 9:02Speaker 1: any type of plays. We're seeing the growth of Jalen Hurts,
- 9:05Speaker 1: folks continuing to see that, and it's really great to
- 9:09Speaker 1: really great to witness, especially week one. With regard to
- 9:12Speaker 1: Saquon Barkley. Look, I mean, it wasn't the most fantastic
- 9:16Speaker 1: game in the world for him. Eighteen carries for only
- 9:18Speaker 1: sixty yards three point three yards per carry. Not too
- 9:23Speaker 1: great in terms of the stat sheet. Yes, he did
- 9:25Speaker 1: have a touchdown, but look the inside runs by Saquon Barkley,
- 9:29Speaker 1: especially in the second half, We're getting shut down by
- 9:31Speaker 1: the Cowboys defensive line. And I gotta be honest, I
- 9:35Speaker 1: have to be honest about how this Eagles offensive line
- 9:39Speaker 1: looked throughout many points in this game. Extremely rusty a
- 9:44Speaker 1: lot of the time, and in the fourth quarter they
- 9:46Speaker 1: looked pretty gassed. And who knows, maybe it's just the
- 9:50Speaker 1: first game of the season, Maybe it's getting that rusted off,
- 9:53Speaker 1: maybe it's getting back into in game shape, as it's called,
- 9:58Speaker 1: but really the offensive line and it looked a bit
- 10:01Speaker 1: rough at times throughout this game. And let's not forget
- 10:06Speaker 1: an important gentleman on this offensive line who ended up
- 10:11Speaker 1: missing the last part of this game, and that's Landon
- 10:14Speaker 1: Dickerson going out in the fourth quarter with a back injury,
- 10:17Speaker 1: Brett Toath replacing him. What have we been saying on
- 10:20Speaker 1: this podcast platform over these past couple weeks. What was
- 10:23Speaker 1: a huge concern Lennon and I talked about it during
- 10:26Speaker 1: the course of our Eagle season preview, and it was
- 10:29Speaker 1: Landon Dickerson, his health, the maintenance of his health, how
- 10:33Speaker 1: important and critical he is to the way this offense
- 10:37Speaker 1: is run. This medical staff is going to have to
- 10:41Speaker 1: do wonders in the future for Landon Dickerson if he's
- 10:44Speaker 1: going to be on the field and contributing to this team.
- 10:48Speaker 1: I'm very skeptical at this point. Wishing him all the best,
- 10:50Speaker 1: of course, but extremely extremely skeptical. Also, folks, how about
- 10:55Speaker 1: the fact and we have to recognize this fact and
- 10:58Speaker 1: it's really bizarre and criticism of the Eagles offense, of
- 11:02Speaker 1: the play calling of Kevin Patulo and possibly Nick Sirianni
- 11:05Speaker 1: here recognizing the fact that AJ Brown did not have
- 11:10Speaker 1: a target in this game until about a minute and
- 11:12Speaker 1: forty six seconds left in the game. You can't tell
- 11:16Speaker 1: me AJ Brown has not been open and had not
- 11:20Speaker 1: been open all game long, especially with Dallas playing man
- 11:24Speaker 1: coverage as often as they did, and him having no
- 11:27Speaker 1: targets was absolutely wild. If you had told me that
- 11:32Speaker 1: Johan Dotson was going to have more targets than AJ Brown,
- 11:37Speaker 1: I would have said, you are absolutely crazy. If you
- 11:40Speaker 1: had told me that Kylin Granson was going to have
- 11:43Speaker 1: the same amount of targets as AJ Brown in this game,
- 11:46Speaker 1: I would have said, you were absolutely crazy. We're recording
- 11:50Speaker 1: this rate after the game. Gonna be interesting to hear
- 11:53Speaker 1: the narrative this week about why AJ Brown was not
- 11:58Speaker 1: targeted at all during this game. One catch on the
- 12:02Speaker 1: game again, minute and forty six seconds left in the game,
- 12:05Speaker 1: one catch for eight yards just absolutely unacceptable in my opinion.
- 12:11Speaker 1: But really, I think we have to credit Jalen Hurts
- 12:14Speaker 1: for the win in this game. I think we have
- 12:16Speaker 1: to credit him. Not that we're gonna be giving out
- 12:19Speaker 1: MVPs all the time per game, and maybe we should
- 12:22Speaker 1: do that. Maybe it would make our Eagles postgame podcast
- 12:25Speaker 1: shows a little bit more interesting. But you know, maybe
- 12:29Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts was the MVP in this game. I mean,
- 12:32Speaker 1: I think it was an entire offensive performance quite frankly,
- 12:37Speaker 1: but Jalen Hurts made some huge plays in this game
- 12:40Speaker 1: when it mattered, specifically with his legs. We look at
- 12:43Speaker 1: the box score and you see the rushing Jalen Hurts
- 12:47Speaker 1: led this team in rushing fourteen carries for sixty two yards.
- 12:51Speaker 1: He averaged four point four yards per carry, two touchdowns.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I gave you a Saquon Barkley's stats a little while ago,
- 12:58Speaker 1: And yeah, while the passing tack wasn't necessarily the most prolific,
- 13:04Speaker 1: him getting the ball down the field. You know, there
- 13:06Speaker 1: wasn't a lot of stretch in the field and not
- 13:08Speaker 1: a lot of long passes down the field. We'll get
- 13:12Speaker 1: to Jalen Hurts's passing numbers in a bit, but Jalen
- 13:16Speaker 1: Hurts probably, I would say, and unequivocally the MVP of
- 13:20Speaker 1: this game. But again, him making huge plays when it mattered.
- 13:24Speaker 1: He is a top three quarterback in this league and
- 13:26Speaker 1: it's not even close. So tired of the narrative that
- 13:28Speaker 1: we've had to hear all summer. You know, is he
- 13:31Speaker 1: even top ten? Is he you know, a top eight quarterback?
- 13:36Speaker 1: People are ridiculous. He is a top three quarterback in
- 13:39Speaker 1: this league. Real quick, before we go to break special teams.
- 13:43Speaker 1: There were no punts in the first half, folks, none
- 13:46Speaker 1: at all. It's like there was so much action in
- 13:49Speaker 1: the first half and then there was a whole lot
- 13:52Speaker 1: of nothing in the second half from both teams. But
- 13:55Speaker 1: like like we mentioned earlier, Ben van van Sumerin going
- 13:59Speaker 1: down on the first kickoff of the season. Wishing him well,
- 14:05Speaker 1: but there's something else, a concern that I had. And
- 14:09Speaker 1: if you have listened to this podcast over the past
- 14:11Speaker 1: couple weeks, we've talked about Jake Elliott. Jake Elliott today
- 14:15Speaker 1: nail the fifty eight yard field goal. Safe to say, folks,
- 14:19Speaker 1: Jake Elliott is back. Seems like he's okay. As we know,
- 14:23Speaker 1: last year he was one of seven on fifty plus
- 14:27Speaker 1: yard field goal attempts. That fifty eight yard or today
- 14:30Speaker 1: should make us feel a lot better about where he
- 14:34Speaker 1: is with his leg, where he is in terms of
- 14:37Speaker 1: field goal kicking. Again, he only had one field goal
- 14:40Speaker 1: on the day for fifty eight yards. He had three
- 14:43Speaker 1: extra points made all of those. I'm feeling good about
- 14:47Speaker 1: Jake Elliott. We're going to take a break here, but
- 14:50Speaker 1: when we come back, I want to get into some
- 14:52Speaker 1: stats from the box score. Since I don't have a
- 14:54Speaker 1: co host here this week, not going to actually get
- 14:57Speaker 1: into any grades here, but I did want to go
- 14:59Speaker 1: through the score here just to highlight some of these areas.
- 15:03Speaker 1: We're gonna get to it in just a bit. All right,
- 15:06Speaker 1: we are back, and I'm gonna go through some of
- 15:09Speaker 1: the Eagles and Cowboys box score notes here just to
- 15:13Speaker 1: give some perspective about how this game really went. Look,
- 15:16Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts through the ball twenty three times in this game.
- 15:20Speaker 1: The Eagles rushed thirty eight times in this game, but
- 15:23Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts completed nineteen passes on those twenty three attempts
- 15:28Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty two yards, only six point six
- 15:30Speaker 1: yards per attempt. He was sacked only one time, lost
- 15:35Speaker 1: eight yards on that sack, but he ended with a
- 15:38Speaker 1: rating of ninety four point two. Not a terrible day
- 15:41Speaker 1: in terms of passing, but we know with Jalen Hurts,
- 15:45Speaker 1: he doesn't have to put up four hundred yards and
- 15:48Speaker 1: four touchdowns in order to have a great game. Why because,
- 15:51Speaker 1: as I mentioned before the break, he carried the ball
- 15:54Speaker 1: fourteen times for sixty two yards. He led this team
- 15:57Speaker 1: in rushing. He scored twice. Saquon Barkley eighteen carries for
- 16:01Speaker 1: sixty yards and a touchdown. Will Shipley carried the ball
- 16:04Speaker 1: three times for twenty six yards. I mean he averaged
- 16:06Speaker 1: eight point seven yards per carry on those three carries.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Aj Dillon got the ball three times as well, for
- 16:12Speaker 1: a total of ten yards. So it really was the
- 16:17Speaker 1: rushing attack that really got the job done today at
- 16:20Speaker 1: the end of the day, especially when it came to
- 16:22Speaker 1: touchdowns as well. This Eagles team put up one hundred
- 16:25Speaker 1: and fifty eight total rushing yards, four point two yards
- 16:29Speaker 1: per rush, and three total touchdowns. But then you look
- 16:32Speaker 1: at the receiving and again as I mentioned before the break,
- 16:35Speaker 1: Johan Dotson was the leading receiver on this team fifty
- 16:39Speaker 1: nine yards on three catches. He averaged nineteen point seven
- 16:42Speaker 1: yards per reception as long as fifty one yards. And
- 16:46Speaker 1: then you have Dallas Goddard being targeted seven times. He
- 16:50Speaker 1: came down with all seven balls for forty four yards.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Very very short passes six point three yards per reception.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Saquon Barkley caught the ball four times for twenty four yards.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Devonte Smith only targeted three times for sixteen yards in
- 17:06Speaker 1: this game five point three yards per reception. Aj Brown,
- 17:11Speaker 1: as we mentioned, only one target for eight yards, and
- 17:13Speaker 1: Kylon Granson one target for one yard. The receiving corps
- 17:18Speaker 1: have to wonder, and there's gonna be questions this week.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Of course, there should be that narrative of why weren't
- 17:24Speaker 1: some of these wide receivers targeted more. It's not like
- 17:26Speaker 1: the Dallas defense and secondary is somehow the next greatest thing.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Absolutely not. Why weren't these Philadelphia Eagles wide receivers more
- 17:36Speaker 1: prevalent within this game. Let's now move over to the defense,
- 17:41Speaker 1: where you know what you have Zach Bond at the
- 17:44Speaker 1: top of the box score again with nine total tackles,
- 17:48Speaker 1: six solos, one tackle for a loss, one pass defended.
- 17:52Speaker 1: I will say this though, folks, there was not one
- 17:55Speaker 1: sack in this game by the Philadelphia Eagles. Dak Prescott
- 17:59Speaker 1: stayed on his feet all game long, unacceptable in my opinion.
- 18:04Speaker 1: They just weren't able to get to him. Dorri Jackson
- 18:06Speaker 1: actually was credited for seven total tackles. In this game,
- 18:10Speaker 1: Jordan Davis was credited for six total tackles, Cooper Dejen
- 18:15Speaker 1: with five, Andrew mccouba with four, Quinjon Mitchell with four.
- 18:18Speaker 1: I don't like having the secondary being the top six
- 18:23Speaker 1: in terms of total tackles in this game. Don't like
- 18:26Speaker 1: it at all. Tackles for a loss there were three.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Jylex Hunt had one, Jordan Davis had one as well,
- 18:33Speaker 1: and as I mentioned, Zach Bond too passes defended. I
- 18:37Speaker 1: like seeing the secondary stepping up, but Zach Bond again
- 18:40Speaker 1: stepped up in that regard. Dory Jackson did have one.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Jordan Davis, Cooper Dejen also had a pass defended. Quinjon Mitchell.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Jihad Campbell as well. I mentioned him and his athletic
- 18:53Speaker 1: ability and quickness being that offline or I'm sorry, being
- 18:58Speaker 1: that linebacker that's able to get down the field. My gosh,
- 19:02Speaker 1: what an athletic guy. There was only one quarterback hit
- 19:05Speaker 1: in this game by Moro Ojomo, only one, folks. This
- 19:09Speaker 1: defense has got to get to work. This defense needs
- 19:14Speaker 1: to rebound from this game. Yes, Philadelphia Eagles won this game.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Dallas Cowboys put up twenty points on them. But man,
- 19:22Speaker 1: this defense this very soft defense needs the rebound before
- 19:26Speaker 1: they head out to Kansas City next week. For Week two.
- 19:29Speaker 1: In terms of kick returns, there was only one for
- 19:32Speaker 1: John Metchi for twenty yards, one for Will Shipley for
- 19:35Speaker 1: twelve yards. There were absolutely no punt returns in this
- 19:38Speaker 1: game at all with either team, and Braden Mann on
- 19:43Speaker 1: three punts he averaged forty eight point seven yards per punt.
- 19:47Speaker 1: If we look at the Dallas Cowboys, look Dak Prescott.
- 19:51Speaker 1: He threw the ball thirty four times, only completed twenty
- 19:54Speaker 1: one of those for one hundred and eighty eight yards.
- 19:57Speaker 1: He averaged five point five yards per tempt and he
- 20:00Speaker 1: ended with a rating of seventy six point six. So
- 20:04Speaker 1: you're looking at the two quarterbacks here and you say, yes,
- 20:07Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts obviously outplayed Dak Prescott, and he did in
- 20:10Speaker 1: a lot of different ways. Javonte Williams was their leading
- 20:14Speaker 1: rusher fifteen carries for fifty four yards three point six
- 20:17Speaker 1: yards per carry. Miles Sanders he had that huge rush
- 20:23Speaker 1: for forty nine yards as we saw, and then ended
- 20:25Speaker 1: up coughing up the ball and fumbling for Quinnon Mitchell. Boy,
- 20:29Speaker 1: if it wasn't for Dak Prescott would have actually returned
- 20:31Speaker 1: that for a touchdown. But Miles Sanders had four carries
- 20:35Speaker 1: for fifty three yards. Ceedee Lamb thirteen targets in this game,
- 20:40Speaker 1: coming down with seven of them for one hundred and
- 20:42Speaker 1: ten yards fifteen point seven yards per reception. George Pickens
- 20:47Speaker 1: came down with three balls on four targets for thirty
- 20:50Speaker 1: yards as well. Jake Ferguson caught the ball five times
- 20:53Speaker 1: for twenty three yards. Cavante Turpin caught the ball twice
- 20:59Speaker 1: for eighteen A lot of Dinson dunks, a lot of
- 21:02Speaker 1: short passes from Dak Prescott as well. The only time
- 21:05Speaker 1: he was throwing down the field strategically, he was getting
- 21:09Speaker 1: calls for pass interference. I mean that was part of
- 21:12Speaker 1: the Dallas Cowboy scoring process in this game. Dak throwing
- 21:17Speaker 1: all the way down the field, there's a pass interference call,
- 21:21Speaker 1: and you know the chains move from there. I'm not
- 21:24Speaker 1: going to get into the Dallas defense. You know, we
- 21:26Speaker 1: know what the Eagles offense did to them. But again,
- 21:29Speaker 1: you know, as we're closing down things here and getting
- 21:32Speaker 1: ready to get out of your ear drums, however you're
- 21:36Speaker 1: listening to us. Look, it was a sloppy game at
- 21:40Speaker 1: times by the Philadelphia Eagles. In general, the defense ended
- 21:43Speaker 1: up stepping up to the plate when it mattered at
- 21:45Speaker 1: the end. You know, teams grow. This is one of
- 21:49Speaker 1: the youngest defenses in the entire NFL. It is the
- 21:52Speaker 1: youngest defense in the NFL. There's gonna be some growing pains, folks.
- 21:56Speaker 1: I think we need to get used to it. Got
- 21:58Speaker 1: sixteen more games to go. I think this defense is
- 22:02Speaker 1: gonna grow. Vic Fangio is a fantastic coach in this league.
- 22:06Speaker 1: He's a great leader, and I think you're gonna have
- 22:08Speaker 1: leaders like Zach Bond stepping up to the plate. I
- 22:11Speaker 1: think you're gonna have leaders on the defensive line stepping
- 22:16Speaker 1: up as well. I think that we need to be
- 22:18Speaker 1: patient at times, and I know it's difficult as Philly
- 22:21Speaker 1: sports fans to do that. I certainly know, but patience
- 22:26Speaker 1: is going to need to happen with this Philadelphia Eagles
- 22:29Speaker 1: defense for sure. Offense really clicking on all cylinders basically
- 22:33Speaker 1: until the second half, and basically clicking until the lightning
- 22:39Speaker 1: delay happened. But I'm very confident about where this offense is.
- 22:44Speaker 1: So with that being said, that's gonna end our Eagles
- 22:48Speaker 1: postgame analysis here at the PST Podcast Show again. The
- 22:52Speaker 1: Philadelphia Eagles winning down at the Link in the season
- 22:55Speaker 1: opener by a score of twenty four to twenty against
- 22:58Speaker 1: the Dallas Cowboys. Good division win right out of the gate.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Happy about that, all right, folks, that's gonna do it
- 23:06Speaker 1: for us. Take care and will catch you next time.
