- 0:09Speaker 1: Hey, what's going on? Everyone?
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome into another episode of to check O Daily. Andrew
- 0:14Speaker 2: de Checko Here Eagles beat reporter friendsidethbirds dot Com. And
- 0:17Speaker 2: today we're gonna do something a little different because we're
- 0:21Speaker 2: two weeks out from the NFL Draft, and I know
- 0:23Speaker 2: the opening night it garners the bulk of the headlines
- 0:27Speaker 2: because that's where teams are identifying franchise cornerstones. But it's
- 0:32Speaker 2: important to remember that a lot of the what makes
- 0:38Speaker 2: up an NFL roster around the league are comprised of
- 0:42Speaker 2: Day two selections, and like the opening Night, those who
- 0:46Speaker 2: are selected in rounds two and three are expected to
- 0:49Speaker 2: elevate into starting roles. So look at it through the
- 0:52Speaker 2: lens of Hallie Roseman, and he's been very successful in
- 0:57Speaker 2: years past coming away with impact talent in rounds two
- 1:02Speaker 2: and three, also round one. But today we're talking about
- 1:06Speaker 2: Day two and really getting those positions of needs.
- 1:10Speaker 1: So when you look at the obvious need for cost.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Controlled offensive pieces over the next two weeks, I focused
- 1:19Speaker 2: on that side of the ball today because I listed
- 1:21Speaker 2: eight players that I thought would be fits. And the
- 1:26Speaker 2: key here is they fall or they're expected to fall
- 1:30Speaker 2: within the Eagles range in any of their three Day
- 1:34Speaker 2: two selections. So to recap, the Eagles are picking in
- 1:38Speaker 2: the second round, pick fifty four, that's their own pick,
- 1:42Speaker 2: the third round number sixty three the Hassan Redick trade.
- 1:46Speaker 2: The third round pick number ninety eight is a compensatory pick.
- 1:50Speaker 2: So I'm going to go through these offensive players and
- 1:54Speaker 2: add a little context and also where I'm expecting.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Them to go.
- 2:00Speaker 2: So we'll start right off the bat with three wide receivers,
- 2:03Speaker 2: the first of which is Chris Bell from Louisville, and
- 2:07Speaker 2: I like his compact build. He kind of reminds me
- 2:09Speaker 2: of AJ Brown and how he's built. At six foot two,
- 2:12Speaker 2: two hundred and twenty two pounds. He has the ability
- 2:15Speaker 2: to manufacture yards after the catch, and I think that
- 2:18Speaker 2: he would be an ideal compliment for the eagles current
- 2:21Speaker 2: stable of pass catchers when you look at his dimensions,
- 2:26Speaker 2: his ability to work the shorts, intermediate level, create yards
- 2:30Speaker 2: after the catch, be that physical bully type on the
- 2:33Speaker 2: outside to complement Davonte and if AJ's around, I think
- 2:38Speaker 2: that those two guys are going to impose their will.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Against defensive backs.
- 2:42Speaker 2: But last season for Louisville, I thought he did a
- 2:46Speaker 2: really good job navigating the intermediary levels, and he attacks
- 2:50Speaker 2: the football and has really.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Good body control.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Now, he did suffer an ACL injury late in the season,
- 2:58Speaker 2: I believe it was November, missed the fire two games,
- 3:01Speaker 2: so you worry about the timeline and when he's going
- 3:04Speaker 2: to be able to participate. So that's something to keep
- 3:07Speaker 2: an eye on. But this is a Round two player
- 3:09Speaker 2: all day long. I think he would be an ideal
- 3:12Speaker 2: selection if the Eagles are looking to add a wide
- 3:14Speaker 2: receiver at pick number fifty four.
- 3:17Speaker 1: I don't know that he would be there when they're
- 3:19Speaker 1: picking at.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Sixty three, But aside from Alabama's Jeremy Bernard, Chris Bell
- 3:26Speaker 2: is my favorite day two wide receiver because I believe
- 3:29Speaker 2: he has immense upside, a unique skill set, and I
- 3:32Speaker 2: love the physicality in which he plays the game. He'll
- 3:36Speaker 2: be twenty two, I think in June, so he's still
- 3:39Speaker 2: a younger player, especially relative to a lot of the
- 3:42Speaker 2: players in this class. And last year he had seventy
- 3:45Speaker 2: two catches for nine hundred and seventeen yards before he
- 3:49Speaker 2: had the ACO injury. So I think that would be
- 3:53Speaker 2: an interesting player to add to the offensive dynamic. The
- 3:58Speaker 2: next player Elijah sarat or Surrett, So I apologize Surrett,
- 4:03Speaker 2: wide receiver from Indiana, and he'll be twenty three in May.
- 4:07Speaker 2: He's among some of the older rookies in this class,
- 4:10Speaker 2: and there are some who are twenty five. And you know,
- 4:13Speaker 2: I've talked about Nate Borkircher, the tight end who's going
- 4:16Speaker 2: to be twenty five, But sirre it turns twenty three
- 4:20Speaker 2: in May. He has good body control, he plays through contact.
- 4:25Speaker 2: He was a team captain for Indiana last season, and
- 4:29Speaker 2: I think he could thrive in a volume based role.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Now he's never eclipsed the or he hasn't eclipsed the
- 4:34Speaker 2: one thousand yard receiving barrier in two seasons, but he
- 4:39Speaker 2: was someone who's accumulated receptions. He's been a trusted safety
- 4:45Speaker 2: valve for that offense. And he's tough as nails, which
- 4:49Speaker 2: I really like and it shines through when you watch
- 4:51Speaker 2: him play. Dependable receiver, strong hands, will play through contact,
- 4:56Speaker 2: as I mentioned, and he's rangy. He was a twenty
- 4:59Speaker 2: twenty five second team All Big Ten selection, finished his
- 5:03Speaker 2: career with forty four receiving touchdowns, so he has a
- 5:06Speaker 2: nose for the end zone. He's a red zone option
- 5:08Speaker 2: that's also added appeal. Six foot two, two hundred and
- 5:12Speaker 2: ten pounds, so solid build.
- 5:15Speaker 1: And I think he liked that.
- 5:16Speaker 2: He has inside outside versatility, not overly explosive.
- 5:20Speaker 1: He's not a burner.
- 5:21Speaker 2: He ran a four or five to three forty r dash,
- 5:24Speaker 2: but I think he's going to have a really long
- 5:26Speaker 2: and productive career.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I think he goes in the third round.
- 5:31Speaker 2: The last receiver I want to get into is Ted
- 5:34Speaker 2: Hurst at a Georgia State his four year career. He
- 5:38Speaker 2: spent the first two at Valdosta State, that's a Division
- 5:41Speaker 2: two college, and then he went to Georgia State for
- 5:43Speaker 2: his final two years and that's really where he rose
- 5:46Speaker 2: to prominence. And six foot four, two hundred and six
- 5:49Speaker 2: pounds ran a four to four to two at the
- 5:51Speaker 2: NFL scouting Combine. He brings that field stretching element to
- 5:56Speaker 2: an offense in dire need of explosive plays. His catch
- 6:00Speaker 2: radius and ability to pull away from defensive back. He
- 6:04Speaker 2: has a flair for tracking the football and dynamic open
- 6:08Speaker 2: field ability.
- 6:09Speaker 1: One of my favorite receiving prospects in this class.
- 6:11Speaker 2: If I'm being honest, and I think if you look
- 6:15Speaker 2: at that level of competition, it's going to naturally draw
- 6:18Speaker 2: some scrutiny from some pockets. But it is worth noting
- 6:23Speaker 2: that he showed well in the Reese's Senior Bowl, and
- 6:26Speaker 2: that's a big, big measuring stick for a lot of evaluators.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Especially when you're a player coming from a small school,
- 6:34Speaker 2: they naturally want to see how you handle yourself and
- 6:38Speaker 2: if you're able to kind of elevate your performance under
- 6:41Speaker 2: the intense scrutiny of the preeminent all star game of
- 6:47Speaker 2: the draft circuit. So seventy one catches one thousand and
- 6:51Speaker 2: four yards six touchdowns, and you have to imagine that
- 6:56Speaker 2: he will only improve and maybe even ascend to another
- 7:02Speaker 2: level when you get him into an NFL building and
- 7:04Speaker 2: he's working with NFL coaches.
- 7:06Speaker 1: So ted Hurst is a player I believe will go
- 7:09Speaker 1: in the third round.
- 7:10Speaker 2: His stock has sort of skyrocketed since the Senior Bowl
- 7:14Speaker 2: and steadily increased, And that would be a player I
- 7:18Speaker 2: would imagine could come right in and provide an immediate impact.
- 7:22Speaker 2: I talk about the field stretching ability. You like the size,
- 7:25Speaker 2: the range, and again it would complement in terms of size.
- 7:31Speaker 2: The Eagles are aside from AJ Brown and Johnny Wilson,
- 7:35Speaker 2: they're a smaller receiving cores.
- 7:37Speaker 1: That would change if he added someone like Ted Hurst.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Moving to tight end Eli Stowers from Vanderbilt, I think
- 7:46Speaker 2: he will slot in right around where.
- 7:48Speaker 1: The Eagles are picking at sixty three.
- 7:50Speaker 2: So if they want to wait and try to pounce
- 7:53Speaker 2: on value, if they don't feel so inclined to trade
- 7:56Speaker 2: up for a Kenyon Sadik and they want to get
- 7:58Speaker 2: that day two tight end, Eli Stowers could be in
- 8:02Speaker 2: play at sixty three.
- 8:04Speaker 1: And I talked a lot about him.
- 8:05Speaker 2: I've interviewed him on Inside the Bird's Great Kid, and
- 8:09Speaker 2: I think he offers immense upside as a pure receiving threat.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Started at Texas A and m went to New Mexico State,
- 8:18Speaker 2: ends at Vanderbilt. Was a converted quarterback and it doesn't
- 8:23Speaker 2: matter if he's playing wide receiver or tight end. He's
- 8:26Speaker 2: going to create a lot of mismatches. He can find
- 8:28Speaker 2: the sauce spot in zone, strong hands, fluid as a
- 8:33Speaker 2: route runner, and when talking to Eli, he mentioned that
- 8:38Speaker 2: his quarterback background helped him in terms of route running
- 8:41Speaker 2: and finding landmarks and things like that, because you know
- 8:44Speaker 2: what you're looking for.
- 8:45Speaker 1: And you're able to kind of have.
- 8:47Speaker 2: That information and that kind of detail that maybe others
- 8:50Speaker 2: aren't privy to. But so last season seven hundred and
- 8:55Speaker 2: sixty nine receiving yards, four touchdowns on sixty two receptions.
- 9:00Speaker 2: And he's not a strong blocker. He's talked about working
- 9:05Speaker 2: on that. He's more of a finesse player who'll have
- 9:07Speaker 2: to continue to improve as a blocker to become a
- 9:10Speaker 2: more well rounded player.
- 9:11Speaker 1: But when you look.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Around at the NFL and you see these mismatches, these weapons,
- 9:16Speaker 2: if you will, that maybe lack of defined role, that's
- 9:20Speaker 2: someone that is a difference maker, and they're spreading teams
- 9:24Speaker 2: out more. They've been doing that. That's been a growing trend.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Someone like Eli Stowers, I believe will greatly benefit from
- 9:32Speaker 2: those modernized New Age offenses, much like what we're expecting
- 9:35Speaker 2: the Eagles to implement. Stowers, for the record, is my
- 9:39Speaker 2: tight end two That has not changed. Max Clair would
- 9:43Speaker 2: be the other tight end who should fall within that
- 9:48Speaker 2: sixty sixty five range.
- 9:50Speaker 1: So I would imagine that sixty three.
- 9:52Speaker 2: If you don't have a tight end and you're the
- 9:54Speaker 2: Eagles and you want to take advantage of what is
- 9:56Speaker 2: a pretty strong class, Max Clair might the fit. He
- 10:01Speaker 2: has a natural savviness, and a precision when it comes
- 10:04Speaker 2: to route running, and he has a feel for just
- 10:08Speaker 2: knowing how to shake free and get open and be
- 10:11Speaker 2: a security blanket for a quarterback. He also has a
- 10:14Speaker 2: dependable set of hands and a grittiness that allows him
- 10:18Speaker 2: to play through contact. Reminds me a little bit of
- 10:20Speaker 2: former Eagles tight end Zach Ertz, but he grades out
- 10:24Speaker 2: a lot better as a blocker than Zach did, certainly
- 10:27Speaker 2: coming out, and so he's kind of of a more refined,
- 10:32Speaker 2: balanced player relative to Stours. Stowers offers more explosiveness and
- 10:37Speaker 2: receiving prowess, but Max Claire is I think if you're
- 10:42Speaker 2: the Eagles and he's sitting there at sixty three, that's
- 10:45Speaker 2: going to be tough to bypass, because he strikes me
- 10:48Speaker 2: as a tight end that would fit what the Eagles
- 10:50Speaker 2: want to do, and that he's balanced.
- 10:52Speaker 1: He's well rounded.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Not an overly imposing blocker, but a willing one and
- 10:56Speaker 2: one who's effective when asked to do it.
- 10:58Speaker 1: You probably don't want him to doing it all that often,
- 11:01Speaker 1: but the.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Precision of his route running and the detail knowing how
- 11:08Speaker 2: to get open and knowing having a good feel and
- 11:11Speaker 2: a good rapport with his quarterbacks. I believe is going
- 11:14Speaker 2: to go a long way. He's NFL ready. I think
- 11:18Speaker 2: he's ready to step in, and if the Eagles implemented
- 11:21Speaker 2: a lot of twelve personnel, it wouldn't surprise me if
- 11:23Speaker 2: he works into if he would work into the equation
- 11:27Speaker 2: if he were selected, because I don't think he's going
- 11:29Speaker 2: to need an extensive acclamation period.
- 11:33Speaker 1: He strikes me as someone who's NFL ready.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Last season, had forty three receptions for four hundred and
- 11:39Speaker 2: forty eight yards two touchdowns. Spent two seasons at Purdue
- 11:44Speaker 2: prior to arriving at Ohio State, so Max Claire would
- 11:49Speaker 2: be the other tight end. Now we're going to get
- 11:51Speaker 2: into three offensive tackles as we close things out. Caleb
- 11:54Speaker 2: Chiernan offensive tackle out of Northwestern. Now he's six foot eight,
- 11:58Speaker 2: three hundred and twenty three pounds. Started thirty eight games
- 12:01Speaker 2: over the last three seasons at left tackle, but when
- 12:04Speaker 2: you look at his arm length thirty two and a
- 12:05Speaker 2: quarter inch, it probably necessitates a move to right guard.
- 12:11Speaker 2: I'm sorry, I move to right tackle, maybe guard as
- 12:14Speaker 2: well at the next level.
- 12:16Speaker 1: And then in.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Twenty twenty two, Tiernan actually started six games at right tackle,
- 12:22Speaker 2: so it's not like he has no experience and it
- 12:24Speaker 2: would be largely a projection, but he doesn't have a
- 12:27Speaker 2: ton of experience there.
- 12:28Speaker 1: But I think his long term.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Fit would be at right tackle, and he could be
- 12:34Speaker 2: a swing tackle. At six foot eight, he's a little
- 12:37Speaker 2: a little long for a guard, but it's unique in
- 12:40Speaker 2: the sense that his arms are I guess disproportion at
- 12:45Speaker 2: thirty two and a quarter. It's it doesn't reflect that
- 12:50Speaker 2: of a six foot eight, three hundred and twenty three
- 12:52Speaker 2: pound offensive lineman. He's technically savvy and polished when it
- 12:57Speaker 2: comes to pass blocking. I do believe that his run
- 13:01Speaker 2: blocking needs a little bit of work in terms of
- 13:05Speaker 2: detail and consistency, but the hand placement and the footwork
- 13:10Speaker 2: they work in unison as they should when you're a
- 13:13Speaker 2: polished and you're technically sound. There is added appeal as
- 13:18Speaker 2: I mentioned with tyn In, because he might not require
- 13:20Speaker 2: a red shirt season if he's drafted to a team
- 13:24Speaker 2: that has to establish tackles, because despite his frame, he
- 13:29Speaker 2: could function as a guard, as I mentioned Travis Burke,
- 13:32Speaker 2: offensive tackle out of Memphis. Oh and I should mention
- 13:35Speaker 2: that Tiernan I think comes off the board right around
- 13:38Speaker 2: where the Eagles are picking at fifty four because offensive
- 13:43Speaker 2: linemen are valued, and he does offer some flexibility there
- 13:47Speaker 2: and very established. As I mentioned thirty eight starts over
- 13:51Speaker 2: three seasons at left tackle. Travis Burke offensive tackle out
- 13:55Speaker 2: of Memphis. He's well rounded and he's no stranger to
- 13:59Speaker 2: adapting to change. He spent his first two seasons at
- 14:02Speaker 2: Gardner Webb, then another two at Florida International, and then
- 14:05Speaker 2: he capped his career at Memphis, where he earned first
- 14:08Speaker 2: team All American Athletic Conference.
- 14:10Speaker 1: He's twenty three years old.
- 14:11Speaker 2: He started eleven games last season for Memphis, missed the
- 14:15Speaker 2: final two games though due to an injury, and he
- 14:19Speaker 2: also it also deprived him of an opportunity to take
- 14:23Speaker 2: part in the East West Shrine Bowl. But for size,
- 14:26Speaker 2: six foot nine, three hundred and twenty five pounds, and
- 14:30Speaker 2: he does have experience manning the left or right post
- 14:34Speaker 2: added appeal, and he moves well for his size, plays
- 14:38Speaker 2: with an edge, that nasty, mean streak that you love
- 14:41Speaker 2: in your offensive lineman that I think should endear himself
- 14:44Speaker 2: to a fan base and a staff, and that length
- 14:47Speaker 2: thirty four and a quarter inch arms, which is a
- 14:51Speaker 2: eighty three and an eighth inch wingspan. He uses that
- 14:54Speaker 2: as a weapon to his advantage to engulf defenders. But
- 14:58Speaker 2: I think because he has those at trades and his
- 15:01Speaker 2: play is steadily improved, you might think that that upside
- 15:05Speaker 2: and sustained impact warrants a team to almost run to
- 15:09Speaker 2: the podium. I like his game quite a bit, and
- 15:11Speaker 2: I think it translates favorably to the NFL. I think
- 15:15Speaker 2: he comes off the board in the third round, probably
- 15:20Speaker 2: mid to eight third round at worst, early day three.
- 15:24Speaker 2: But I think given everything that I just outlined here,
- 15:27Speaker 2: he would be a third round pick at some point.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Hey, if you're like me, you're desensitized to the dozens
- 15:34Speaker 3: of notifications on your phone every day. But if that
- 15:37Speaker 3: latest ping is from your security camera, ignoring it could
- 15:40Speaker 3: spell disaster. Picture this, someone's breaking into your home, but
- 15:44Speaker 3: you're giving a huge presentation at work, or you're at
- 15:46Speaker 3: the movies, or you're thirty thousand feet in the sky
- 15:48Speaker 3: on a flight. You'll see the footage in a couple hours,
- 15:51Speaker 3: but by then it's too late. That's why I choose

- 17:42Speaker 3: Cam din Apothecary top quality cannabis, great prices, and an
- 17:46Speaker 3: experience made for Philly fans twenty one and up.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Finally, we get to Mark hel Bell, offensive tackle out
- 17:54Speaker 2: of Miami. Different type of dimensions compared to the other
- 17:57Speaker 2: players that I talked about in that Bell is six
- 18:01Speaker 2: foot nine, three hundred and forty six pounds, so he
- 18:04Speaker 2: has the frame of a franchise left tackle. And get this,
- 18:08Speaker 2: his arm length thirty six and three eighth inch arms
- 18:13Speaker 2: also supports that sentiment. Now, he is a massive tackle,
- 18:18Speaker 2: but he spent his first two seasons at Holmes Community College.
- 18:22Speaker 2: He started sixteen games last season for Miami was a
- 18:25Speaker 2: third team All acc selection. Power at the point of
- 18:30Speaker 2: attack really stands out. He's pretty much a wall out there.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Defensive ends. Pass rushers can't get around him, and I
- 18:39Speaker 2: think if you look at one challenge he may have
- 18:42Speaker 2: to overcome at the next level, it could be just
- 18:44Speaker 2: being more fluid, just being able to handle the suddenness
- 18:48Speaker 2: and the twitchiness and the speed of NFL edge rushers
- 18:52Speaker 2: instead of always being able to rely on your size.
- 18:55Speaker 1: And the arm length.
- 18:56Speaker 2: You have to become a little bit more fluid and technical,
- 19:01Speaker 2: I would imagine, And if he ends up in the
- 19:04Speaker 2: right place, I think he's going to have He's another
- 19:06Speaker 2: guy that I think could have an early impact, and
- 19:11Speaker 2: he has that ability to anchor in the run game,
- 19:13Speaker 2: as one would expect. When he gets his mits on somebody,
- 19:17Speaker 2: it's pretty much like Velcrow. He just drives defenders off
- 19:20Speaker 2: the ball and it's quite fun to watch. But in
- 19:23Speaker 2: light of the expected schematic changes, it is yet to
- 19:27Speaker 2: be determined what qualities the Eagles will most value when
- 19:30Speaker 2: it comes to the offensive line. But Bell would have
- 19:33Speaker 2: surely been an ideal match for Jeff Stoutland because Jeff
- 19:37Speaker 2: Stoutland in that style in which he implemented, for one,
- 19:41Speaker 2: but also his track record of player development is as
- 19:46Speaker 2: good as there is, so I think that when you
- 19:49Speaker 2: take all of that into consideration, Markel Bell may have
- 19:53Speaker 2: been a better fit for the previous iteration of the
- 19:55Speaker 2: Eagles offense. But he's someone that if you're sitting there,
- 19:59Speaker 2: you don't have I have a tackle. Probably towards the
- 20:02Speaker 2: latter stages of Day two, Markel Bell would be a
- 20:06Speaker 2: player that I would that I would keep an eye
- 20:08Speaker 2: on because I talk about upside.
- 20:11Speaker 1: I think you get them right in there and you
- 20:14Speaker 1: just have.
- 20:14Speaker 2: An absolute wall for an offensive line. We'll do the
- 20:19Speaker 2: defense tomorrow because I had fun doing this one. Hope
- 20:21Speaker 2: you enjoyed it. Those are just eight players. That's not
- 20:24Speaker 2: eight players that I'm saying are or will. It's eight
- 20:27Speaker 2: players that I think, relative to where they're expected to
- 20:30Speaker 2: be selected and positions of need, would make sense for
- 20:34Speaker 2: the Eagles, and some of which have been reported thirty visits,
- 20:37Speaker 2: So it's not that far out of the box in
- 20:40Speaker 2: terms of my line of thinking.
- 20:42Speaker 1: That's going to do it.
- 20:42Speaker 2: For this episode of The check O Daily, I'm Andrew
- 20:45Speaker 2: Decheco and I'll catch you all on the next one,
