- 0:00What's going on, everybody? What's going on, folks?
- 0:03And how we doing? Welcome to my podcast, my legendary podcast.
- 0:07My name is David, and I'm your host of this legendary podcast,
- 0:13the Deconstructing Topic Podcast. Ooh, ooh.
- 0:17And you know what? I'm saying ooh, ooh, because it's part of my intro,
- 0:21but ooh, ooh, that as I'm recording this, I'm having nice tamales for breakfast. Yes, that is a thing.
- 0:30A lot of beautiful people out here in New York City. And those breakfast carts, you know what?
- 0:34When I see that they got tamales, you know what? It's very hearty.
- 0:37It's hot. It's chicken inside. You already know. Shout out to my Mexican people.
- 0:43With the tamales. Oh, my God. So it's a little spicy. So I'm like, oh.
- 0:49And today we got a little nice spicy. Keeping it with the Latin thing. Latin Heritage Month.
- 0:55But we're just going to say something off the bat. Because this is like kind of recent news.
- 0:59People been talking about it and then one of the interesting topics it's the.
- 1:05Ready for this one oh man oh drum rolls let's go oh i'm hopping because you
- 1:10know what we are talking about the halftime show.
- 1:14A Bad Bunny, the Puerto Rican artists. And you know what? Two weeks ago,
- 1:18it was the concert that he did on Amazon. And great, great concert.
- 1:22All around. Woof. All around. It's one of those things that you'd be like, wow.
- 1:26It's like you felt like you was watching something special. So shout out to that.
- 1:31And it's interesting how this information in regards to him.
- 1:34And I said then, I was in a group chat with my brothers in arms.
- 1:38And I was saying, yo, prepare that he's going to do the halftime show.
- 1:42Because I kind of feel like he was kind of rehearsing for it.
- 1:45Keep in mind, nobody or I have not heard anything.
- 1:47All I've said is for a fact is that this dude is going to do the halftime show.
- 1:52And then lo and behold, lo and behold.
- 1:55And yes, it has created some good things. It has created some controversies,
- 2:00some people with the comments.
- 2:01So we're going to talk to a little bit of bases on a little bit of everything
- 2:04because it's got people talking from every aisle of whatever aisle, of whatever aisle.
- 2:11Once again, it's the Deconstructed Topic Podcast. Find me everywhere and find me on Tgoose TV as well.
- 2:19Hey, every information is going to be on my description up wherever you follow
- 2:25me, whether it's YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and all that good stuff.
- 2:30And Tgoose TV, download the app, support my brothers and sisters out there, independent.
- 2:36You already know, man, hit that share. Let's talk about a little bit of everything.
- 2:39So, Bad Bunny, the famous, very famous Puerto Rican music artist.
- 2:45I'm not even going to say music artist. He does acting. So, it's going to be
- 2:48all this. This dude does it all.
- 2:50Come from the reggaeton genre, you know.
- 2:53Shout out there to the roots, some of the roots where reggaeton,
- 2:57whether it's Jamaica, Panama, and obviously the motherland in Africa.
- 3:01We got a little bit of everything. So, reggaeton is a known genre and a lot
- 3:06of Puerto Ricans for the most part.
- 3:09Well, I'm going to say that there was a time that many of the reggaeton artists
- 3:13were coming from Puerto Rico, but now we got Colombian, Dominican. Oh, we got all around.
- 3:18Oh, man, give yourself a round of applause on this one. Shout out.
- 3:22I love me. My reggaeton. My reggaeton is ooh.
- 3:26But let's get it. Let's make it happen. But you know what?
- 3:30It does for some reason. I've created a little controversy when it comes to
- 3:34Bad Bunny and hosting the halftime show.
- 3:37Now, my understanding. And when I say halftime, the Super Bowl, let's be more specific.
- 3:41For those who live in the United States, the Super Bowl is like the highest
- 3:45rated TV show every year.
- 3:48Hundreds of millions of people watch the show. I mean, watch the Super Bowl.
- 3:52Even if you're not into American football, you watch it because it's a commercial.
- 3:56You watch it because of the halftime. It is no longer a football game,
- 4:00a football game between two teams to get the Super Bowl, the championship.
- 4:05It's a spectacle. and it's an American spectacle.
- 4:08Sometimes some people say, hey,
- 4:10listen, it's a distraction for whatever it is. Look, it is what it is.
- 4:13I think every, for the most part, many countries, many empires always use sport
- 4:20as that spectacle to distract people. I love football.
- 4:24I love when my football team makes it to the Super Bowl, but it has become a spectacle.
- 4:28But hey, listen, you enjoy it. You sit down. You laugh at the commercials and
- 4:33the halftime show. the halftime show, Kendrick Lamar last year,
- 4:36which I was a mix, a little 50-50.
- 4:39You know, but then you start breaking down. It's like, okay,
- 4:41I see where they're coming from.
- 4:43Now, the Super Bowl halftime show has been a who, and it's a privilege to be there.
- 4:49Now, my understanding is that the NFL in itself might not necessarily be the
- 4:55hands-on on who gets to host the Super Bowl.
- 4:58I think this time, it used to be Pepsi, but now it's Apple, if I'm not mistaken.
- 5:02But just the Super Bowl in itself is the
- 5:05station Bad Bunny just coming in out of nowhere from Puerto
- 5:08Rico Doing a residency Doing months and months
- 5:11there in Puerto Rico If you love Bad Bunny You would have to go to Puerto Rico
- 5:15to see him Now he's let loose Now he have made some subliminal messes Where
- 5:20he said Well maybe I do have one date in the United States And let it be home
- 5:26It's the Super Bowl Now why does this have created controversies?
- 5:29Because one is this For some reason
- 5:32And I could understand Maybe I could understand Is that the NFL Of football
- 5:37Was created here In the United States So The foundation of Football My understanding
- 5:43Of what we call American football Started here in the United States So there's
- 5:47Some type of pride Of this being An American tradition You know My understanding.
- 5:53From the days of college days to, you know, the NFL, the national football league.
- 5:57So it's one of those things that I could understand where there's some Americans.
- 6:01You know, I'm not going to point you guys out, but for some reason,
- 6:05you guys wear red hats. I don't know.
- 6:07But the fact is that because of a Spanish person who's from Puerto Rico,
- 6:14an island that don't really much don't play football, even though we got a couple
- 6:18of Hall of Famers, you know, I believe Anthony Munoz and Ron Rivera.
- 6:22Hey, listen, Puerto Rico is in love for more.
- 6:25So stop with that nonsense. But just the fact that we got this bad bunny here
- 6:29that's doing a big, you know, American sport. I'm like, you know what?
- 6:34Come on, man. Get out of here. You know what I mean?
- 6:37So in that time of those kind of racist white folks there, those blatant ones,
- 6:43and then you got the other ones, they're not that blatant, but they are a little sneaky.
- 6:47You know what I mean? The Taylor Swift kind of crowd. You know who you are.
- 6:52You might say, well, you know, I think Taylor should have, well,
- 6:55you know, I think that this person should have, you know, without saying something
- 6:58racist. You know what I mean? But that's racism.
- 7:00Because if you be like, oh, kind of saying, oh, man, you know,
- 7:04I don't think that Bad Bunny should perform. I think that that would,
- 7:07I think that Taylor Swift would have been better or I think this person would have been better.
- 7:12Understand what I'm saying? That's racism.
- 7:15But anyway, so it's bringing up some, a lot of haters or whatever the case might be.
- 7:19I'm like, it is what it is. It is a halftime show It is a platform Now, with that said.
- 7:25The controversy, or I like to think Well, at least that one side of it Is that
- 7:31there are those people in the Puerto Rican community Who are very,
- 7:34and for the most part Very proud of this moment Like, yeah, baby,
- 7:37we here We here, let's go, Bodequai.
- 7:44You know what I'm saying? We doing that thing Now, I'm one, not to say I was
- 7:48doing that thing But I'm like, good for you, kid But here's the little kind
- 7:52of thing That's the little kind of smoke Behind that kind of merit type of thing Is the fact that,
- 7:59Bad Bunny is an advocate For the independence of Puerto Rico Right?
- 8:04And I've seen the comments I've seen some Wow And I've seen some people like
- 8:09Well, how can you be promoting You know,
- 8:12independence And how can Puerto Rico become independent When you are reaping
- 8:16the benefits of Being American And whatever the case might be And that's for all fair and dandy,
- 8:22And even if you was to ask me 10, 15 years ago I had one of those mindsets And I still do.
- 8:31Somebody brought up Colin Kaepernick, the former NFL player that was kneeling,
- 8:36and I'm going to emphasize this, and I'm going to repeat this.
- 8:39I had no problems with Colin Kaepernick kneeling on the national anthem.
- 8:44My problem, just like the great Jim Brown, who lived in a civil rights movement
- 8:49type of era, that dude was gangster, he was questioning Colin,
- 8:54exactly what are you going to do?
- 8:56And I think that that's a fair question. And there's been former football players
- 9:00who have kind of said, okay, I get that you're kneeling because of,
- 9:05you know, this, police brutality, but then what's the solution again? You know, there's none.
- 9:10And it took a while, and then, you know, Colin Kaepernick, you know,
- 9:12to make money, because sadly, the other 14 want to sign him,
- 9:17is that he signed a contract with Nike, right?
- 9:19And Nike came with this kind of walk movement, kind of commercials, whatever.
- 9:24And one to say is this. Interesting, Colin.
- 9:28So you're telling me that you, you know, you're about this pro dish and,
- 9:32you know, you're against police brutality and the pro black lives movement and all.
- 9:38You signed a contract with Nike, this company who has this history of child
- 9:44labor, right? They know.
- 9:46Hey, listen, they always knew, Nike always knew that you had these kids in other
- 9:49countries making these sneakers. You bring them sneakers here. Guess what?
- 9:53You charge people $200, $250.
- 9:57And you can make an argument that Nike and the sneakers, and because of the
- 10:01cause, the Jordans, might have more of a negative impact on our hood. You know what I mean?
- 10:07But that's neither here and here or neither here and there. So it's one of those
- 10:11things that I've heard those comments and once again,
- 10:15I could understand the comments of why some people, especially those who are
- 10:20in the independence movement, who are in the so-called liberation movement,
- 10:24tend to kind of just have some questions.
- 10:27That's all. And bring that conversation in. And I'm with you.
- 10:31Because even me, when Bad Bunny started becoming more mainstream,
- 10:36Bad Bunny, my understanding, he's a pro-LBGT, all that good stuff.
- 10:40But then you're also rapping or singing about companies that have business in
- 10:46countries that don't necessarily are pro-LBGT friendly, right?
- 10:53You could Google those countries. They're somewhere far.
- 10:59But you could Google these companies that are billionaires. You know what I mean?
- 11:03And I kind of say, you know, it kind of sounded a little bit hypocritical, right?
- 11:09And it sounds to seem like someone who's a pro-advocate of independence Who's
- 11:14pro about the culture and be
- 11:16serving our culture How can he side with a corporation that has a history,
- 11:23Of let's say using black people whatever the case might be Or the history of
- 11:29the empire, United States empire So you know we could bring that up You know
- 11:33and the reason I'm bringing this up Because I'm going to take this side This side of things Yeah.
- 11:39And the fact is this, that sometimes in order for one to get somewhere,
- 11:45you got to have a couple of dance with the devil, whether you agree with it or not.
- 11:50If you're telling me that if I have a chance to talk to my enemy or even somebody
- 11:56that I don't agree, I'm not going to say my enemy because I don't see.
- 12:00So Bat Bunny, he's like me. He's an advocate for independence,
- 12:03but I'm not here, you know, like in the old days, eye for an eye.
- 12:08Hey, listen, I'm just going to talk about it, but I'm not going to be here like,
- 12:13oh, my goodness, you know, we should do this and that.
- 12:16You know, let's talk about our culture and how we could preserve and conserve
- 12:21our culture via the independence. You know what I mean?
- 12:24So a bad bunny is not going to be in that. So, hey, listen, if you was to tell
- 12:28me, David, you're going to get your enemy is going to give you $50 million for
- 12:35you to talk versus your friend that's only going to give you $100,000.
- 12:38I'm going to look at it like, oh, man, that 15 million, I could do so much.
- 12:43I could spread the wealth instead of the 100,000.
- 12:46And, again, this is not a way of saying that you sell yourself to the,
- 12:49you know, you sell your soul to the devil or anything like that.
- 12:54He's a person who has a chance that, you know, I don't want to,
- 12:58you know, somebody say, hey, J.Lo was the first Puerto Rican, but J.Lo is different.
- 13:01She's Puerto Rican from here. I don't.
- 13:05J.Lo is different. You know what I mean? And shout out to Jelo Respect I'm just
- 13:09saying Bad Bunny bring in something different I don't think that ever.
- 13:15Maybe me Hey listen My podcast keep growing Maybe I'll be the biggest voice
- 13:20Of the independent of Puerto Rico Out there The biggest platform Let's go That's
- 13:24why you gotta like Share Comment You gotta do all that Man if you're listening
- 13:28to man You know See people A lot of people listen Hey listen,
- 13:32All that buttons that you see Wherever Whether it's on YouTube On Apple or whatever
- 13:37you listen to my podcast, there's a reason for those buttons.
- 13:40And always put the good ones.
- 13:43But this is the biggest stage that anybody, anybody in the history of Puerto
- 13:48Rico who's been an advocate for the independence of Puerto Rico,
- 13:51this is the biggest platform that they could ever get.
- 13:58And I can't even think, and I can't say Ricky Martin because I don't know what
- 14:04Ricky Martin's political affiliation is and what he does come,
- 14:08you know, when it comes to the situation in the island, what happened years
- 14:11ago with the governor, What happened with Vieques Like 20,
- 14:1525 years ago He's an advocate of Puerto Rican stuff You know,
- 14:19whenever there's something for Puerto Rico He's an advocate He loves the island
- 14:23of Puerto Rico I just don't know his,
- 14:26Political view or his stance Or at least his ideology But I do know Bad Bunny, right?
- 14:32He's an advocate He's not, you know, pushing for it He's just an advocate,
- 14:37In that sense And I'm with that That's why I'm like a big independent person
- 14:42Like if I ever When I ever decide to run for an office I'm going to be straight
- 14:46up independent Straight up from the blue.
- 14:50Not straight up from the blue But you know what I mean So it's one of those
- 14:53things That's why it created that conversation And you know I've been You know
- 14:57was back and forth with assistant arms In my social that it's You know she's
- 15:01not against what he's doing It's just the conversation that we need to have And I agree,
- 15:05It's just that my thing with With some of these individuals Is that We tend
- 15:10to say, oh, look, they're doing this and they're selling and they're doing this. And I get it.
- 15:15But at the same token, it's like you're advocating for the Democratic Party.
- 15:20You're telling people how much MAGA and all this.
- 15:23But then when you go and speak out against these one side of things,
- 15:27then you're picking one side. You understand?
- 15:30And it's very rare when a Puerto Rican, and I've came across,
- 15:35where when we speak about the ideology of United States and its empire and the
- 15:40colonism and our status.
- 15:42A lot of them align to the Democratic Party.
- 15:45And for some reason, I say to myself, why? I don't get it.
- 15:48I get it that you want to maintain your level of financial support because there
- 15:53are those people that tend to hate.
- 15:56So here's Bad Bunny And that amazing halftime It's going to be incredible You
- 16:02should watch it I think it's probably going to be the best halftime show ever
- 16:04If from what I've seen from the concert That he had on Amazon I think it drew
- 16:09a lot of millions of people I think that we should be proud
- 16:13I think as Puerto Ricans we should tune in I think as anybody we should tune
- 16:17in Because I'm hoping that he could interject a little bit of history In those
- 16:2115 minutes Or whatever he's going to get,
- 16:24that once and for all the people in Ireland, the people in this country decide.
- 16:31What's our fate? What's our future? Because sadly, the current status of Puerto
- 16:34Rico for the last 70, 80 years, ever since then, it has not really worked and
- 16:40has not really worked for the people that live in the island in itself.
- 16:44It has helped other people because they get, you know, foreign people because
- 16:48they get those tax breaks. But it's that time.
- 16:52And it's time for our Puerto Rican leaders to use this. Even again,
- 16:55if you don't agree, all I'm saying, this is your platform. from here to the
- 17:00Super Bowl, which is in February.
- 17:02We have the biggest platform we can find.
- 17:06Don't go out there looking for the people like AOCs to support you.
- 17:10You can talk to her. But what I'm saying is these are not our leaders.
- 17:13They pretend to be like us. They sound like us, but they're not us. You know what I mean?
- 17:17This is our time to be independent and grab this platform and this chance to
- 17:20talk about the situation of the island and let that be that beginning of that.
- 17:27And once and for all, we could shut that situation.
- 17:30That's to say, we need to address it and we need to address it now.
- 17:34Anyways, this is your boy. Make it happen.
- 17:38The Legendary Deconstructing Topic Podcast. Once again, I hope you enjoy it. I'm pretty sure you did.
- 17:44Much love out there to my legendary folks out there that are listening and supporting
- 17:48this channel. Go to Tegos TV as well.
- 17:51Again, there's a little subscription there. But you know what?
- 17:54You're going to find good independent content there. But we definitely gonna
- 17:58make it happen And I'm definitely gonna make it happen Because you're gonna
- 18:01make it happen Alright, I'm out of here Peace.
