- 0:13Speaker 1: What's up, Mommies and Poppies. It is Laala Kent with Randall.
- 0:17Speaker 2: We are back for another exciting episode.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Oh gross, what is that?
- 0:26Speaker 2: I was just making sound effects because we're not we
- 0:28Speaker 2: don't have a budget yet for sound effects. But I'm
- 0:30Speaker 2: telling you and Tim producer Tim is sitting here. I
- 0:32Speaker 2: am telling you, Tim, I need one of those boxes. Yeah,
- 0:36Speaker 2: that's sick. I can just hit Okay, we're gonna get that.
- 0:41Speaker 2: I need that in the next episode because I want
- 0:43Speaker 2: to fuck it. I'm going to go off with those
- 0:45Speaker 2: of visual flights. But anyway, back to business.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Back to business. So we have we have Kate Bosworth
- 0:50Speaker 1: and Michael Polish today.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Kate Bosworth obviously one of the greatest American actresses, and
- 0:55Speaker 2: her husband Michael Polish, who is a incredibly talented director.
- 1:00Speaker 2: We have done three or four movies together as Michael
- 1:04Speaker 2: and I and Kate as well, and they have a
- 1:07Speaker 2: new movie that I produced that Kate's starring in with
- 1:10Speaker 2: a Meal Hirsch and Mel Gibson to be released you
- 1:13Speaker 2: thirtieth called Force Force of Nature, and we're excited. I
- 1:19Speaker 2: didn't even know the name of my own fucking movie. Wow,
- 1:21Speaker 2: that means quarantine screwed me up, lat I mean, I
- 1:23Speaker 2: you know it as quick as I normally am.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I totally get it, rand because I'm in a full fog.
- 1:30Speaker 2: I really am, like between the pickleball and and just
- 1:34Speaker 2: waking up every day, It's like it's a lot. It's
- 1:37Speaker 2: a lot.
- 1:38Speaker 1: It is between the pickleball and just waking up. It
- 1:41Speaker 1: is a lot. And I went into a k hole
- 1:44Speaker 1: on our podcast reviews and I saw one and I
- 1:48Speaker 1: feel like this is perfect to explain real quick since
- 1:51Speaker 1: we have a couple on the podcast day one who's
- 1:55Speaker 1: an actress, one who's a director. And one of the
- 1:57Speaker 1: comments was, by the way, people show up lot of
- 2:00Speaker 1: love to this podcast, so let's give a shout out
- 2:02Speaker 1: to everyone who's sharing beautiful, amazing kind messages. This one
- 2:07Speaker 1: message was not about It was not hateful in any way.
- 2:10Speaker 1: It just said, I feel like Randall shows Lala so
- 2:13Speaker 1: much love on the podcast, but it is not reciprocated
- 2:17Speaker 1: on Lalla's end. So let me take a moment.
- 2:20Speaker 2: I want to say something too. I'm gonna let you
- 2:22Speaker 2: take a book, take your moment. Then I'm gonna say.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Thank you, baby.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Go ahead, Randal, you are my best friend. And I
- 2:30Speaker 1: love that we can like bust balls together. But let
- 2:33Speaker 1: me say this, you, my love, are like my ride
- 2:37Speaker 1: or die. I'm going to reciprocate the love more so
- 2:39Speaker 1: that the listeners know what because when I'm with you
- 2:43Speaker 1: doing this, it's like the banter. It's like fun. Like
- 2:45Speaker 1: no one wants to sit here and listen to me
- 2:47Speaker 1: be like, I'm so madly in love with Randall.
- 2:51Speaker 2: I like, who, I didn't even know. I didn't even
- 2:53Speaker 2: know they made those comments. I saw one, like one comment.
- 2:55Speaker 1: It was one.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Okay. The bottom line is what your fans are trying
- 2:58Speaker 2: to tell you is kiss my hand. That's what you're
- 3:00Speaker 2: supposed to do, kiss and worship my ass. So going forward,
- 3:03Speaker 2: I would like you to come in, give me a
- 3:06Speaker 2: back massage. Following the back massage, give me lots of kisses, okay,
- 3:12Speaker 2: and then we'll start our podcast. Could you now? I
- 3:15Speaker 2: know I'm dreaming right now, but I yeah, I was.
- 3:18Speaker 1: I wanted to say you got the wrong bit, but
- 3:21Speaker 1: but I'm just gonna smile and nod and say okay now.
- 3:25Speaker 2: But baby, let me say something. First of all, I
- 3:27Speaker 2: think that the podcast, first of all for somebody to
- 3:30Speaker 2: judge our relationship, meaning solely through a podcast. They're not
- 3:33Speaker 2: going to see our personal moments, because that's when we're
- 3:36Speaker 2: at home, when we're together, when we're driving here, when
- 3:38Speaker 2: we're when we're you know, doing what we do. I
- 3:41Speaker 2: think the podcast we're trying to really entertain people and
- 3:44Speaker 2: give them a slice of who we are.
- 3:46Speaker 1: However, I also when Randall's.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Show, are you kissing my ass?
- 3:49Speaker 1: I'll kiss your ass? When Randall shows me love, it
- 3:54Speaker 1: does not come off as corny or cheesy, like you're
- 3:58Speaker 1: really good at wait him. Producer Tim is over there,
- 4:01Speaker 1: going Tim, well, I don't know about that.
- 4:03Speaker 2: You're going to question my bike? Oh Tim? Tim says
- 4:09Speaker 2: it's not legitimate. No, no, he says it's not. He
- 4:11Speaker 2: says it's not that it's not legitimate. He says it
- 4:14Speaker 2: might be borderline corny is what he's trying to say.
- 4:16Speaker 1: So that's what I said. I said, you have a
- 4:18Speaker 1: way of making your love shown for me not cheesy.
- 4:21Speaker 1: On the podcast, Tim's face was like, I don't know
- 4:23Speaker 1: about that.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Tim. Let me tell you something. I am more romantic
- 4:27Speaker 2: than you will ever fucking.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Be hey, this is not We're not like shooting fucking
- 4:34Speaker 1: flamy arrows at people.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Guy for ten years by by producer Tim True Story
- 4:39Speaker 2: And next week we'll have the mic working so you
- 4:42Speaker 2: can rebuttal but I'm glad you can't write now but
- 4:46Speaker 2: ten years. But in the ten years i've known you,
- 4:48Speaker 2: True Story, I have been very instrumental and helpful in
- 4:52Speaker 2: coming up with ideas for gifts, for vacations, et cetera.
- 4:56Speaker 2: For your wife. Correct, Okay, thanks, that's a fact. I
- 5:00Speaker 2: have sat with Tim and said you should go to
- 5:02Speaker 2: this hotel, or your wife will really like this, or
- 5:04Speaker 2: this is a nice gift, or he'll throw ideas. I
- 5:07Speaker 2: am very, very very supportive his strong suit. You don't
- 5:11Speaker 2: even have a suit when it comes to giving gifts.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Well, Tim, I'm shitty at it too. Don't worry.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Oh Laala, Okay, we're gonna go down this road. Lala,
- 5:19Speaker 2: You're not shitty at it. You suck.
- 5:23Speaker 1: I'm really bad. I'm really about it showering people with gifts.
- 5:26Speaker 2: But I will tell you what, but you are a
- 5:28Speaker 2: lover and for me, showering me with the affection and
- 5:32Speaker 2: love and the cuddling and all that stuff. Right, that's
- 5:35Speaker 2: the most important thing. If you have that from your partner,
- 5:38Speaker 2: everything else secretary like there's not a lot of things
- 5:40Speaker 2: you can go buy me that are going to change
- 5:42Speaker 2: my life in anyway.
- 5:43Speaker 1: I bought you things, and I still hold on to
- 5:44Speaker 1: the fact that I bought you things. And I hold
- 5:46Speaker 1: on to the fact that I bought you things because
- 5:48Speaker 1: they either go missing because he just never opens it.
- 5:51Speaker 2: There we go, or he's.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Like I look at it and I'm like, this is
- 5:55Speaker 1: still in the box with the price tags, Like.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Okay, well, I want to tell you something you bought
- 5:58Speaker 2: me that that I'm going to and why it doesn't
- 6:01Speaker 2: come out of the box. You bought me a pair
- 6:03Speaker 2: of Gucci not slides, Gucci shoes that have like flowers
- 6:08Speaker 2: on them. I didn't, Yes, you did that. Ones that
- 6:10Speaker 2: are painted, had some friggin' fool food.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Oh no, I gave this to my brother.
- 6:15Speaker 2: I did tell you could do that.
- 6:17Speaker 1: You told me I could. I know the exact ones
- 6:19Speaker 1: you're talking about.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, you're sure, I'm steel ship from my closet.
- 6:27Speaker 2: I'm putting a camera in the closet.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Go for it.
- 6:29Speaker 2: I would love that, Okay, I want.
- 6:31Speaker 1: To just I did ask you they were green and
- 6:32Speaker 1: had for give.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Me that look right now, that darting look I'm going yeah,
- 6:37Speaker 2: but I want to tell you something that I will
- 6:39Speaker 2: mark you. I'm going to tell you something I'm gonna
- 6:41Speaker 2: post on my gram. I'm gonna have your brother send
- 6:42Speaker 2: me a screenshot of those shoes.
- 6:44Speaker 1: They were just they were girly. You. You told me
- 6:46Speaker 1: that the second that I got them for you.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Okay, so I can't so, okay, you would love them,
- 6:50Speaker 2: but you can't hold on to shoes that you could
- 6:52Speaker 2: wear that I didn't want to wear. They're not my
- 6:54Speaker 2: wear you wanted.
- 6:55Speaker 1: To So I bought you a fitbit. I bought you
- 6:58Speaker 1: a Peloton.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Being inventory because that's what I am.
- 7:04Speaker 1: A stingy motherfucker. And if I'm spending money, I would
- 7:08Speaker 1: rather you just not make me give you any cheapest,
- 7:11Speaker 1: fuck so cheap, the cheapest of the cheap.
- 7:13Speaker 2: But I love you regardless. But I want to tell
- 7:16Speaker 2: you something. The shoes. I'm being serious, the shoes most
- 7:21Speaker 2: people would not wear those shoes.
- 7:23Speaker 1: That I have a bought you shoes that you do
- 7:24Speaker 1: love anyway.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Bought sneakers. I love sneakers. You know that, Yes, And
- 7:28Speaker 2: by the way, you did give me a phenomenal gift
- 7:30Speaker 2: once which I was shocked and moved because you spent
- 7:33Speaker 2: a lot of money, more money than you should have spent,
- 7:35Speaker 2: and you had bought me a piece of luggage that
- 7:37Speaker 2: was super fancy and I use it to this day.
- 7:40Speaker 2: The only thing that sucked about this piece of luggage,
- 7:43Speaker 2: you know, when you get one of these pieces of
- 7:45Speaker 2: fancy luggage, which I've never had, I roll around literally
- 7:48Speaker 2: with a backpack, you know, Tim, a backpack and like
- 7:51Speaker 2: some duffel from you know, Target. So I don't really
- 7:54Speaker 2: care what my letters looks like. But you bought me
- 7:56Speaker 2: a really fancy piece of leverage. I loved it.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:59Speaker 2: And I was going to the airport one day. There's
- 8:01Speaker 2: a true story, Tim, I was going to the airport
- 8:03Speaker 2: and I didn't close the back of the suv. Yeah,
- 8:08Speaker 2: and it was there, and I drove out of the
- 8:09Speaker 2: drive at fifty miles an hour and the thing went
- 8:11Speaker 2: flying out of the back of the s feet. I
- 8:13Speaker 2: tell you this, I probably didn't tell you this. You're
- 8:15Speaker 2: giving me that look again. Laala's pissed. So it flew
- 8:18Speaker 2: out of the back. This is like the first week
- 8:19Speaker 2: it flew out of the back. I heard it. I go,
- 8:21Speaker 2: oh my god, my luggage is down my hole and
- 8:24Speaker 2: drive I have to ui back. I grab it and
- 8:26Speaker 2: it's like shread it. Yeah, but I still use it
- 8:29Speaker 2: every day. I tried to buff it out so you
- 8:31Speaker 2: never see it. Okay, Lala's got her mouth. Your jaw
- 8:34Speaker 2: has just dropped. She has not moved out of this position.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Can I tell you something about me? I keep my
- 8:40Speaker 1: things in impeccable condition. I have. I had these forever
- 8:44Speaker 1: twenty one heels that literally my mom took a picture
- 8:49Speaker 1: of They're still in my closet, my closet from when
- 8:52Speaker 1: I was in high school back home in Utah. They
- 8:55Speaker 1: were like in mint condition, and I would wear them
- 8:58Speaker 1: all the time because like I'm a bitch in Utah.
- 9:00Speaker 1: I had like two grand in my bank account one
- 9:02Speaker 1: time in Utah, and I was like, I'm fucking so rich.
- 9:06Speaker 1: I'm going to Nordstrum and buying Steve Maddens. That was
- 9:10Speaker 1: like my splurge. But I'm just really great at keeping
- 9:12Speaker 1: things nice. So when you asked to use my Gucci
- 9:15Speaker 1: Duffel bag and I say fuck no and you get upset,
- 9:19Speaker 1: I'm gonna remind you of the time you went fifty
- 9:22Speaker 1: miles an hour down Mullholland had luggage fly out of
- 9:25Speaker 1: the back that common our podcast.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Is this you showing more affection in our podcast? I'm
- 9:32Speaker 2: just curious. No, I mean it's funny, but I'm just as.
- 9:35Speaker 1: I love you, Randall. You're everything I've ever wanted.
- 9:39Speaker 2: That better that was so bad and fake.
- 9:41Speaker 1: I thought it sounded kind of hot.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Yeah, if you weren't sitting in front of me, I
- 9:44Speaker 2: can't wait to bump peepies with you. That's what I'm
- 9:46Speaker 2: talking about. That's the ship. I mean, what the fuck
- 9:49Speaker 2: is this? Babe? Stop my god? I love you.
- 9:54Speaker 1: I love you too. Let's let's let's let's switch gears.
- 9:58Speaker 2: No, I don't want to.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Yeah, we're gonna go to a break. When we come back.
- 10:01Speaker 1: We have the beautiful Kate Bosworth and her talented hubby
- 10:07Speaker 1: Michael Polish.
- 10:08Speaker 2: We'll be back in the minute.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I love you. I'm sorry. We are back, and we
- 10:18Speaker 1: have two of my most favorite people in the world.
- 10:20Speaker 1: We have Kate Bosworth and her amazing hubby, Michael Polish.
- 10:24Speaker 1: What's up, my loves, Hi guys, everything's good. I'm so
- 10:31Speaker 1: excited to have you guys. Thank you so much for
- 10:34Speaker 1: doing this.
- 10:34Speaker 4: Oh my god, we're so psyched. We're you know, anytime
- 10:36Speaker 4: to spend time with you guys.
- 10:38Speaker 3: We should just be recording every time we hang out together,
- 10:40Speaker 3: and then we can just slice it together.
- 10:41Speaker 2: By the way, it's.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Actually a really great idea. People would die.
- 10:43Speaker 2: The conversations that we've had as a group have just
- 10:46Speaker 2: been fucking epics. So the fact that we could bring
- 10:48Speaker 2: it live here it makes it even more fun. All right,
- 10:52Speaker 2: So let me just let me just give a briefing.
- 10:54Speaker 2: First of all, Kate and I have known each other.
- 10:57Speaker 2: I can't Kate. When was one Nderland the first movie
- 11:01Speaker 2: that we did together.
- 11:05Speaker 4: No, I don't know, ten years ago, No, no longer.
- 11:09Speaker 4: It was like two thousand and two or three.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Oh my god, dude, that's amazing. So we know so low.
- 11:15Speaker 2: We've known each other seventeen years we did.
- 11:18Speaker 1: That's what we call a throwback friendship.
- 11:21Speaker 2: So we've known each other seventeen years. Kate was the
- 11:25Speaker 2: star of a movie that I was fortuate enough to
- 11:27Speaker 2: produce with Al Kilmer called Wonderland, based on the Murders
- 11:30Speaker 2: of Wonderland. We shot in Kate, do you remember this
- 11:33Speaker 2: New Mexico? Right? Was it New Mexico? Lah? I'm thinking
- 11:38Speaker 2: of something else, but mind fuck.
- 11:41Speaker 4: We shot in La but you're thinking of the other
- 11:43Speaker 4: one that you did with.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Well, correct, that's because I'm old, Kate. I'm old. I'm
- 11:47Speaker 2: forty nine.
- 11:47Speaker 4: I know I am too. I was like trying to
- 11:49Speaker 4: count the years back, and I said, so.
- 11:52Speaker 2: We did this movie in la It was really fucking cool.
- 11:55Speaker 2: It was indie, it was just badass, and obviously you're amazing.
- 11:58Speaker 2: We we sparked our friend ship. We've been friends for
- 12:02Speaker 2: that long seventeen years. Then I meet Michael, who is
- 12:06Speaker 2: just the greatest director. Michael, and how many movies take
- 12:10Speaker 2: us through, you guys, the films that we've done together
- 12:14Speaker 2: as a family, and then we'll get into everything else.
- 12:18Speaker 3: The movies that are in the bedroom movies.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Are talking about porno.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Michael, Michael and I have had some really deep, deep moments.
- 12:31Speaker 3: You know. If there's a section for Johnny Walker Blue,
- 12:34Speaker 3: we'll table that.
- 12:35Speaker 2: By the way, By the way, Johnny Walker Blue, you've
- 12:38Speaker 2: heard it from now, Kate Bosworth, Michael Polish and myself,
- 12:41Speaker 2: Lala doesn't drink. Send the bottles. We like the custom
- 12:44Speaker 2: Johnny Blue bottles.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Send them, you guys, we need.
- 12:49Speaker 4: The Johnny Walker Blue bottles.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Well. The fact that Kate, the fact Kate, you just
- 12:53Speaker 2: put that out there. They are definitely sending us ship.
- 12:57Speaker 4: I mean, I have all my digits crossed exactly.
- 13:00Speaker 3: You know, let's say the first movie. There's a few
- 13:03Speaker 3: movies that we were always entertained together, and then there
- 13:05Speaker 3: was just you know, yeah, and then the first movie
- 13:07Speaker 3: that was probably both out of our wheelhouse was ninety
- 13:10Speaker 3: Minutes in Heaven because coming from your background, it coming
- 13:13Speaker 3: from my background, that was just that was just you know,
- 13:17Speaker 3: that was that's just take us to church.
- 13:20Speaker 2: It was it was crazy. That was crazy.
- 13:22Speaker 3: It was crazy, but you know, it was it was
- 13:24Speaker 3: nice to be in a great area together because it
- 13:26Speaker 3: was something we both didn't realize what faith based movies
- 13:30Speaker 3: are like and what we were trying to do, and
- 13:32Speaker 3: it was, you know, forming a relationship. So it was
- 13:35Speaker 3: you know, it was we were sort of being married
- 13:38Speaker 3: by our parents and didn't know each other.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Oh my god, that's so well said I and I
- 13:42Speaker 2: do agree. And it was the first time the three
- 13:44Speaker 2: of us got to work together in one film, which
- 13:47Speaker 2: I think was really special. It was like a family thing.
- 13:50Speaker 2: It was so fun, you know, to do something that
- 13:53Speaker 2: we're all uncomfortable doing.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Because it was well, then this movie took place in like,
- 13:57Speaker 1: what twenty fifteen?
- 13:59Speaker 4: Is that?
- 13:59Speaker 2: Rightly? Yeah?
- 14:00Speaker 1: We shot so then you guys met on the film
- 14:05Speaker 1: Big Sir. Right, that's like where you started. So was
- 14:08Speaker 1: that before ninety minutes in Heaven? Like you guys were
- 14:11Speaker 1: like hitting it off big that was like the first film. Dude,
- 14:15Speaker 1: can you please tell me about that?
- 14:17Speaker 2: Yeah, tell us about how it hooked up. I should
- 14:19Speaker 2: have started there. So I get so fucking excited when
- 14:22Speaker 2: Kate and michaelaw together.
- 14:24Speaker 4: Random, Yeah, I'm excited too. Let's just throw all all together.
- 14:31Speaker 4: Michael and I met on a film called Big sur
- 14:33Speaker 4: in twenty eleven, and it's you know, Big Sir, the
- 14:36Speaker 4: Jack Carrowac adaptation. So it was an intense movie for
- 14:41Speaker 4: Michael to make because it was like very cerebral and
- 14:43Speaker 4: the adaptation of a great, you know, literary hero. And
- 14:46Speaker 4: and for me, the dialogue was quite tricky because it
- 14:50Speaker 4: was like just like Kero Whac. Michael adapted it with
- 14:52Speaker 4: like no punctuation. It was all run on sentences, so
- 14:55Speaker 4: he had the actor sort of decide where they would
- 14:57Speaker 4: take their beats, how they wanted to set the pace
- 14:59Speaker 4: for each care So it was it was a little
- 15:01Speaker 4: bit like Shakespearean like that. So I was quite I
- 15:04Speaker 4: was pretty nervous. I was twenty eight years old, and like, literally,
- 15:07Speaker 4: this is the absolute truth. Like the first day we
- 15:09Speaker 4: were filming was quite an intense scene, and I was
- 15:14Speaker 4: probably very horrible the first day.
- 15:16Speaker 1: You've never been as.
- 15:18Speaker 4: I'm serious, I was really nervous. So Michael lovingly calls
- 15:21Speaker 4: it my fireworks, which means I was like and then
- 15:27Speaker 4: he came in and adjusted me. In law, you've worked
- 15:29Speaker 4: with them, so you know that like quiet actor whisper adjustment.
- 15:33Speaker 4: You know, of course he does. And so he gave
- 15:36Speaker 4: me that adjustment, and I, you know, I think I
- 15:39Speaker 4: gave him what he wanted.
- 15:39Speaker 2: And it was Kate.
- 15:44Speaker 4: Was literally but seriously, you guys, like it was. After
- 15:47Speaker 4: that take, Michael looked at his first A D and said,
- 15:51Speaker 4: she doesn't know it yet, but I'm going to marry
- 15:52Speaker 4: that girl.
- 15:53Speaker 1: I have chills all over my body.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Time out, time out? Hold on, is that really, Michael?
- 15:58Speaker 2: It's confirm?
- 15:59Speaker 3: Or I saw her on set and I have only
- 16:02Speaker 3: known her for probably a minute. At that point, she
- 16:04Speaker 3: sat down at the table and she I'm sitting behind
- 16:08Speaker 3: the camera as I I am not a real monitored person.
- 16:10Speaker 3: So I'm behind the camera and I go in there
- 16:13Speaker 3: and she does this take, and I go in there
- 16:16Speaker 3: and I put my hand on the shoulder. I said,
- 16:18Speaker 3: don't say anything until you feel like saying it. This
- 16:20Speaker 3: is video, this isn't film. Don't We're not burning through anything.
- 16:23Speaker 3: So if it takes you ten minutes, five minutes, eat dinner,
- 16:26Speaker 3: eat dinner, and then when when it comes out of
- 16:28Speaker 3: your mouth, it comes out of your mouth. And she
- 16:30Speaker 3: sat there and I said to this's go and re action,
- 16:32Speaker 3: and she gave a take, and then he said, to
- 16:34Speaker 3: my idea, I said, I'm going to marry that girl.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Oh, oh my goodness.
- 16:38Speaker 1: What an amazing I love that.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Sorry, now it's different than ours, where you like to say,
- 16:43Speaker 2: well went to bang Town. Do you see the romance
- 16:46Speaker 2: of how they sell that story. Can you please try
- 16:49Speaker 2: to sell the story like that in the.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Future, most definitely. Now that I just I'm kid you not,
- 16:53Speaker 1: I just got chills on the bod. I will do that.
- 16:55Speaker 2: I will do that for sure, because we did have
- 16:57Speaker 2: a romantic moment before you like the black about the
- 17:00Speaker 2: bang Town park.
- 17:02Speaker 4: I know I've heard your story. It's so romantic.
- 17:05Speaker 3: I love it.
- 17:07Speaker 1: I have to say this. So Kate and I met
- 17:10Speaker 1: when we were flying to Puerto Rico on what on acxis.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Sally and on a PG. He's so bougie and.
- 17:21Speaker 1: We were and I was so nervous because I knew
- 17:23Speaker 1: I was playing opposite al Pacino. Michael, you were directing.
- 17:26Speaker 1: By the way, there's nobody that has made me feel
- 17:29Speaker 1: more confident on a set than Michael fucking Polish.
- 17:33Speaker 4: Ah yeah, so serious.
- 17:36Speaker 1: And I remember my first name right, totally.
- 17:40Speaker 4: I love it.
- 17:41Speaker 1: And we were on the plane ride there and Kate,
- 17:45Speaker 1: you and I just completely hit it off, like you
- 17:47Speaker 1: are my rider, die bitch. I love you so much.
- 17:49Speaker 4: I love you.
- 17:50Speaker 1: And you said to me, Michael has a way with actors.
- 17:53Speaker 1: You're gonna be just fine. So you telling that story
- 17:58Speaker 1: minus the part of you know him saying he gonna
- 18:00Speaker 1: marry you. I didn't have that experience, but just the way, yeah, right,
- 18:04Speaker 1: So just the way he deals with actors, he babies
- 18:07Speaker 1: them in their cracks.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Well, let me say this as a producer who's now
- 18:10Speaker 2: produced three movies as Michael's producer. There is a magic
- 18:15Speaker 2: that Michael has. And Kate said this, You did say
- 18:18Speaker 2: this to me, Kate, how he like when Lala is
- 18:20Speaker 2: freaking out. Oh my god, it's gonna be Butchina, I'm nervous.
- 18:22Speaker 2: You said, Michael will handle you. And every set I've
- 18:25Speaker 2: been on with Michael, he there's never a problem. There's
- 18:29Speaker 2: never been an actor. And I've been on a lot
- 18:31Speaker 2: of movies where actors come to me and say, this
- 18:33Speaker 2: fucking director and is clue. So this director doesn't get
- 18:36Speaker 2: it or he doesn't understand. And every actor has the
- 18:38Speaker 2: same kind of response, like they feel safe and they
- 18:42Speaker 2: feel protected, and and and besides, Michael has an epic vision.
- 18:46Speaker 2: But Michael, you do have that thing. It's even, by
- 18:49Speaker 2: the way, I'll take it one step further, even with producers.
- 18:52Speaker 2: You handle me with grace and style, because you know me,
- 18:55Speaker 2: I flip the fuck out when shit's you know, going south,
- 18:58Speaker 2: and I'm ready to assassinate. And then Michael gets on
- 19:00Speaker 2: the pole head No man, no wait, Michael, you get
- 19:03Speaker 2: on the phone and you do this always thing with
- 19:04Speaker 2: that voice. You go, it's going to be fine, Everything's
- 19:07Speaker 2: going to be fine. Okay, good, I'll hang up and I'm.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Fine, I go, I go. The thing that I have
- 19:14Speaker 3: my greatest relationship with Randal is that that is not advertised,
- 19:18Speaker 3: is that he's in the mirror. He's in the miracle business.
- 19:21Speaker 3: And and people who make movies and try and make
- 19:24Speaker 3: movies and have a really hard time don't realize the
- 19:26Speaker 3: difficulty it is to make a movie. So when I'm
- 19:29Speaker 3: granted one of me and Randall decide to do one together,
- 19:32Speaker 3: it's a miracle. So you have to treat our relationship is. Yes,
- 19:35Speaker 3: there's going to be ups and down. It's going to
- 19:37Speaker 3: feel like a Disneyland riot every once in a while.
- 19:39Speaker 3: It is going to be weird.
- 19:40Speaker 2: You know, I appreciate that. I agree with you. It's
- 19:44Speaker 2: like you and I pushing a boulder that's four hundred
- 19:47Speaker 2: times the size of us up this hill, and every
- 19:49Speaker 2: time we get it up to a section, it drops
- 19:51Speaker 2: down five feet and we have to like get back
- 19:54Speaker 2: and do it again. And I do. I do. Michael,
- 19:57Speaker 2: you handle your crew and your cas with such grace,
- 20:01Speaker 2: and Kate, I do agree. He's got this thing, even
- 20:04Speaker 2: as a producer, that you just know how to handle
- 20:07Speaker 2: when the pressure just starts and you don't fall apart,
- 20:10Speaker 2: you don't play into it. You're just like, what do
- 20:13Speaker 2: we got to do to move forward? And we do it.
- 20:15Speaker 2: And that's why we've done three and we're going to
- 20:17Speaker 2: do another one because I told you I got another
- 20:19Speaker 2: script for you.
- 20:21Speaker 4: It's like I say to actors, you know, because everyone's
- 20:23Speaker 4: always a little nervous the first day, regardless of how
- 20:25Speaker 4: many movies you've done or who you're playing opposite. But
- 20:28Speaker 4: I always say, Michael will not let you fail, like period.
- 20:31Speaker 2: That's so true coming from somebody like you, Kate. I
- 20:34Speaker 2: want people to listen on this podcast. There are actors
- 20:37Speaker 2: like a mil Hirsch, like Kate Bosworth that are very
- 20:40Speaker 2: high level, respected actors in our industry. So when somebody
- 20:43Speaker 2: says something like that, it's it comes from a place
- 20:45Speaker 2: of like, I've been through the ringer on fifty movies,
- 20:47Speaker 2: so for me to see that it is you know
- 20:49Speaker 2: what I mean? And I've been through the ringer as
- 20:51Speaker 2: a producer with directors, so it's it is a miracle
- 20:54Speaker 2: when you get that relationship that really works.
- 20:56Speaker 1: So I have a question for you. How many movies
- 20:58Speaker 1: have you guys done together?
- 21:00Speaker 4: Oh my god, that's a good question, Hibe. I thank yeah.
- 21:04Speaker 1: And what is that? What is that like? So you
- 21:07Speaker 1: guys are married, Like, what is that relationship like when
- 21:10Speaker 1: you are on set.
- 21:11Speaker 3: That's a great question, because you know, it's not like
- 21:13Speaker 3: we're two teachers at MIT or some things, you know,
- 21:20Speaker 3: but you know we come home saying that. But what's
- 21:23Speaker 3: nice is that there's no competition, and I don't do
- 21:26Speaker 3: what she does and she doesn't do it I do.
- 21:28Speaker 3: So we lean on each other. And I'm amazed when
- 21:30Speaker 3: I'm watching her work, because it's the same with any actors,
- 21:32Speaker 3: same with my love. When I watched Lata, I don't
- 21:34Speaker 3: do what you guys are doing. The gift that you
- 21:37Speaker 3: have been given is to present work and interpret stories
- 21:40Speaker 3: and interpret dialogue that has been written. And it's magic
- 21:44Speaker 3: for me to watch. So I watch it as a fan,
- 21:47Speaker 3: and so I'm watching it and respecting it, and so
- 21:50Speaker 3: I look at Kate. I'm watching it basically as as
- 21:52Speaker 3: a fan. You know, you know it's directing and brand.
- 21:54Speaker 3: But you're now approaching this a lot. You're more of
- 21:57Speaker 3: a coach than you are a dictator. You don't have
- 21:59Speaker 3: to point your fingers in just you have to coach
- 22:01Speaker 3: and tell everybody in the system I work and is
- 22:04Speaker 3: you have two hundred people, one hundred and fifty people
- 22:06Speaker 3: from different backgrounds to do exactly what they don't want
- 22:09Speaker 3: to do. Your job is to get them to do it.
- 22:11Speaker 3: And how are you going to get people to do
- 22:13Speaker 3: what you wanted to do and they don't really want
- 22:14Speaker 3: to do it? You know, not everybody wants to be there.
- 22:16Speaker 2: I agree with you, and honestly, you know, I've you know,
- 22:19Speaker 2: I've produced one hundred Plust films, but directing, I've only
- 22:22Speaker 2: got five days under my belt, so I don't have
- 22:24Speaker 2: the experience you have, but I do. We've had this
- 22:28Speaker 2: conversation because you helped me and were a mentor to
- 22:30Speaker 2: me when I was going through the pre productions. It
- 22:33Speaker 2: is a coaching it is. I found myself looking at
- 22:37Speaker 2: the monitor in scenes not even calling action because I
- 22:40Speaker 2: was so in the moment of watching the performances. Yeah,
- 22:45Speaker 2: they'd be like background ready, and then it's looking at me.
- 22:47Speaker 2: And then Megan Fox was like, Randall action, are you
- 22:51Speaker 2: gonna call it? I was like, you do your job,
- 22:52Speaker 2: I'll do my.
- 22:55Speaker 1: You have you guys ever gotten into it on set?
- 22:57Speaker 2: Oh that's a good one. I'd love to hear this
- 22:59Speaker 2: one time.
- 23:02Speaker 4: Remember, but actually, you know, I'll you know, I'll bounce
- 23:07Speaker 4: off of what Michael said, which is like truly like
- 23:10Speaker 4: The reason why it works so well is that we
- 23:13Speaker 4: have so much admiration and respect for one another, like
- 23:15Speaker 4: and I think a lot of that had to do
- 23:17Speaker 4: with the fact that we started our relationships started as professionals,
- 23:21Speaker 4: you know, regardless of you know, I'm going to marry
- 23:24Speaker 4: her within five minutes. It was like we both truly
- 23:26Speaker 4: on that movie, like appreciated each other's work and the
- 23:29Speaker 4: way we work so much that that has never changed,
- 23:32Speaker 4: regardless of sleeping in the same bet or not. But
- 23:36Speaker 4: the only time we got into it that I recall
- 23:38Speaker 4: was actually it was it was recently.
- 23:43Speaker 2: It was.
- 23:45Speaker 4: It was unfortnate nature.
- 23:47Speaker 2: It was not our Okay, wait before we even go
- 23:49Speaker 2: in there, hold on, this is a movie, by the way,
- 23:51Speaker 2: I want everybody listening, guys. This is a movie that
- 23:54Speaker 2: we have coming out June thirtieth. I produced it with
- 23:58Speaker 2: a Meal, hirsh Mel Gibson, Kate and Michael directing. This
- 24:03Speaker 2: movie is fucking awesome. Everybody good. Everybody must go see
- 24:08Speaker 2: this movie. I am so proud to have done this.
- 24:11Speaker 1: We had we had a mil hersh a couple of
- 24:13Speaker 1: weeks ago, and he was he's so proud of this film.
- 24:16Speaker 4: You guys.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Yeah, oh, you.
- 24:18Speaker 4: Know what we had. So here's the thing. We had
- 24:20Speaker 4: so much fun doing this thing. I mean, like, you guys,
- 24:21Speaker 4: we were together, you know, in Puerto Rico. It was
- 24:24Speaker 4: it was crazy, you know, and it was it was
- 24:26Speaker 4: it was so fun. And like I love the movie
- 24:29Speaker 4: so much because it does just feel like one big,
- 24:31Speaker 4: action packed fun ride with like great character, awesome humor,
- 24:36Speaker 4: just like NonStop action, you know, and like it doesn't stop.
- 24:41Speaker 4: But you're on a ride with this one.
- 24:42Speaker 2: And by the way, by the way, you guys, the
- 24:44Speaker 2: crazy thing that people don't know until they see the
- 24:46Speaker 2: movie is it takes place in a storm and you
- 24:50Speaker 2: guys are soaked like with rain machines all day, fifteen
- 24:54Speaker 2: hours a day. Yeah, it was brutal.
- 24:57Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a perfect intro to the fight.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Okay, all right, tell us.
- 25:02Speaker 4: It was no, it was literally, like I think it
- 25:04Speaker 4: was like the second to last day.
- 25:06Speaker 3: It was.
- 25:06Speaker 4: It was a second to last day of my of
- 25:09Speaker 4: my of my schedule, and I I I was getting
- 25:11Speaker 4: it was the weirdest thing.
- 25:12Speaker 3: I was.
- 25:13Speaker 4: You don't think about hypothermia in somewhere like Puerto Rico
- 25:16Speaker 4: with the temperatures, but because we were wet all the time,
- 25:18Speaker 4: and you know we're similar with like tiny, tiny girls,
- 25:21Speaker 4: you know, like I just don't have a lot of
- 25:24Speaker 4: body fat. So like even though it's warm weather, if
- 25:27Speaker 4: my body temperature lowers slightly throughout the day, I was
- 25:30Speaker 4: getting this like crazy low grade hypothermia. And I think
- 25:34Speaker 4: it was just like my physical you know, capabilities were
- 25:38Speaker 4: just depleted. And I just like looked at Michael and
- 25:41Speaker 4: I can't think it was just that right, it was physical.
- 25:44Speaker 4: I took him over the parking lot, I took him
- 25:46Speaker 4: out in the parking lot. I hit the wall. I
- 25:47Speaker 4: was like, I can't do this anymore.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Oh my goodness.
- 25:53Speaker 4: It's not a fight. It's not a fight.
- 25:55Speaker 2: It was just it was like.
- 25:58Speaker 4: I can't even say by Yeah.
- 26:00Speaker 1: It was a moment of Kate hitting her breaking point
- 26:03Speaker 1: and Michael had to toughen her up a bit, you know,
- 26:06Speaker 1: like you got this.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:08Speaker 4: He looked at me and he was like okay, and
- 26:10Speaker 4: you know, Rander, you know this, He's like, okay, what
- 26:12Speaker 4: do you need?
- 26:13Speaker 2: You know, right, That's that's the gift he has, Kate.
- 26:16Speaker 2: It's like he just knows what to say when you
- 26:18Speaker 2: want to go to war. Like you're looking at him
- 26:20Speaker 2: and you're ready to scrap, and he goes, all right,
- 26:22Speaker 2: what are we gonna do?
- 26:23Speaker 4: You know, I mean it takes it takes so much
- 26:25Speaker 4: for me to get to that level. But it's like
- 26:27Speaker 4: and I for me to admit that I was physically breaking,
- 26:30Speaker 4: like that's actually what pissed me off war like, you know,
- 26:34Speaker 4: like it was that that I was like, I have
- 26:35Speaker 4: to say, how like, you know, weak I'm feeling And
- 26:38Speaker 4: that was the thing that I like made me like
- 26:40Speaker 4: so mad. And he just looked at me and he
- 26:41Speaker 4: was like, Okay, let's figure it out.
- 26:44Speaker 2: That's Michael. That is like, if anybody's listening, that is
- 26:48Speaker 2: the greatest summer of who Michael is. He just he
- 26:51Speaker 2: has this thing. Not it takes a lot for people
- 26:53Speaker 2: to have it, not everybody has it, but he has it.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Like he can just look at you you want to scrap,
- 26:58Speaker 2: and then all of a sudden you're putting your sword
- 26:59Speaker 2: down because he just says the right thing, like, Okay,
- 27:02Speaker 2: I'm going to be more rational. Of course it's true.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, I want to dig into literally everything about
- 27:08Speaker 1: you guys. Let's take a quick break and we will
- 27:10Speaker 1: be right back with Kate Bosworth and Michael Polish. We
- 27:16Speaker 1: are back with Kate Bosworth, and this is Michael's idea
- 27:19Speaker 1: for me to reintroduce him as Michael motherfucking Polish.
- 27:23Speaker 4: Yeah, so now it has to be given the motherfucking love.
- 27:28Speaker 3: Yeah, we love that.
- 27:32Speaker 1: My sponsors would be like, perfect, we love the new name.
- 27:37Speaker 1: So let's really quickly back to Force of Nature that
- 27:41Speaker 1: is said to be released this year in June thirtieth.
- 27:46Speaker 1: But you guys also have things that are going on,
- 27:49Speaker 1: which not that all of your films are not important,
- 27:52Speaker 1: but I remember, Kate, you sent me this trailer for
- 27:56Speaker 1: a film that you and Michael did called No No, which, yeah,
- 28:01Speaker 1: correct me if I'm wrong, is short for no Name,
- 28:04Speaker 1: and it's about human trafficking, correct, And what tell me?
- 28:08Speaker 1: Tell me about how you guys made this film. You
- 28:12Speaker 1: having a passion for getting human trafficking out there.
- 28:16Speaker 4: Yeah so, and thank you so much for supporting supporting us,
- 28:19Speaker 4: by the way, because it really is like this is
- 28:22Speaker 4: the the most independent film can possibly be made. So
- 28:27Speaker 4: Michael had been at work one day in Los Angeles
- 28:31Speaker 4: and he drove home and he walked into the door
- 28:33Speaker 4: and he said to me, you know, I just heard
- 28:36Speaker 4: this story on on the radio that was talking about
- 28:39Speaker 4: a sex house that had just been busted with a
- 28:41Speaker 4: bunch of young girls, you know, as the sex trafficking victims.
- 28:45Speaker 1: And he said, you know, where where where was this
- 28:49Speaker 1: house that got this sex trafficking house that got busted
- 28:52Speaker 1: on Western It was in Los Angeles.
- 28:55Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, and well and that your reaction was exactly
- 28:59Speaker 4: his reaction, which was, you know, we had no idea
- 29:02Speaker 4: that this was happening so frequently, you know, right, you know,
- 29:05Speaker 4: in our neighborhood, you know. And so he, you know,
- 29:09Speaker 4: he said, I'd like to dig into this a little more,
- 29:11Speaker 4: and I think there might be you know, a story
- 29:13Speaker 4: to be told here. And he did, he really, you know,
- 29:16Speaker 4: he went into the research quite deeply and came came
- 29:20Speaker 4: back to me and said, I'd like to write a
- 29:21Speaker 4: screenplay that's a narrative story about one girl starting in Honduras, Okay.
- 29:31Speaker 4: And essentially, you know, his his idea was that, look,
- 29:34Speaker 4: there's a lot of great documentaries on human trafficking and
- 29:36Speaker 4: sex trafficking, but it's a tough subject, right because you know,
- 29:40Speaker 4: you kind of you bring it up and people are like, oh,
- 29:42Speaker 4: I kind of know what it is, but like it
- 29:44Speaker 4: it's so heavy.
- 29:45Speaker 1: It is, and people feel uncomfortable, and people are very
- 29:48Speaker 1: unaware that this is happening in our neighborhoods. They think
- 29:51Speaker 1: it's something that's happening, you know, in other countries.
- 29:55Speaker 4: Right, No, exactly, And and you know, it happens behind
- 29:57Speaker 4: closed doors for a reason. It's sort of like when
- 29:59Speaker 4: you kind of, you know, crack that door open, people
- 30:01Speaker 4: are like, oh, that's such a monstrous thing that it's
- 30:03Speaker 4: difficult to look at. But you know, I do think
- 30:06Speaker 4: that part of our responsibility as storytellers is to you know,
- 30:11Speaker 4: it is to shine a light on things that are
- 30:13Speaker 4: difficult to discuss sometimes. So he though he was aware
- 30:18Speaker 4: that it was going to be a kind of a
- 30:20Speaker 4: tough subject matter to, you know, to approach. So he
- 30:24Speaker 4: he came up with the idea of starting with one
- 30:27Speaker 4: girl and allowing the audience to get to know her
- 30:31Speaker 4: in her you know, hometown of San Paedri Solo, which
- 30:33Speaker 4: is you know, known as the murder capital of the
- 30:36Speaker 4: world in Honduras, and you you just meet her in
- 30:40Speaker 4: her circumstances and can understand start understanding the how and
- 30:43Speaker 4: the why something like this can happen. And that when
- 30:45Speaker 4: a young cute guy who meets her in her town, says,
- 30:49Speaker 4: you know, you don't you have your dreams ahead of
- 30:52Speaker 4: you shouldn't be living here. If I have an aunt
- 30:54Speaker 4: in America, I can get you to her and you'll
- 30:56Speaker 4: have a life. You can live your dreams. You know,
- 30:58Speaker 4: you can see how something like this happens with coyotes
- 31:02Speaker 4: praying on the most vulnerable you know, of humanity. So
- 31:07Speaker 4: it was really about I always say that Michael approached
- 31:10Speaker 4: it with the sort of trojan horse approach, and that
- 31:13Speaker 4: you fall in love with her, and you actually fall
- 31:15Speaker 4: in love with the coyote because you don't know he's
- 31:17Speaker 4: a coyote until about seventy percent of the movie Wow.
- 31:20Speaker 4: You when you start kind of you start realizing that
- 31:22Speaker 4: something's a bit weird, and he then ultimately sells her.
- 31:26Speaker 4: So for about seventy percent of the movie, it's like
- 31:29Speaker 4: this beautiful coming of age road trip movie and you're
- 31:32Speaker 4: kind of like you're just on this ride. And of
- 31:34Speaker 4: course the way Michael, you know, he shot at himself.
- 31:36Speaker 4: You know, he picked up a camera and you know,
- 31:39Speaker 4: literally photographs the whole movie while directing Wow. And and basically,
- 31:45Speaker 4: you know, your heart breaks with hers as you realize
- 31:48Speaker 4: that she's being sold into human trafficking. So it was
- 31:52Speaker 4: a deliberate approach to the subject matter so that people
- 31:54Speaker 4: could most of the time they see the result. You
- 31:57Speaker 4: hear the sex house that's been.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Busted or you right, you don't know the journey of
- 32:01Speaker 1: how it all.
- 32:02Speaker 4: Do the journey, And I think that like, once you
- 32:04Speaker 4: understand the why and the how of something, you can
- 32:07Speaker 4: start understanding the human being and that ultimately create more
- 32:11Speaker 4: empathy for the situation rather than just turning your back
- 32:14Speaker 4: on something that's difficult to discuss, you.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Know, right, And you and Michael funded this film on
- 32:19Speaker 1: your own. Y, yeah, I know that. And where can
- 32:26Speaker 1: people watch? Nonah?
- 32:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I think it's on it's been to
- 32:31Speaker 4: be honest, it's been a little bit, but it's it's on. Yeah,
- 32:35Speaker 4: it's on iTunes and I think it was on stars
- 32:40Speaker 4: ro Well, sorry, ul, I should have had that.
- 32:42Speaker 1: No, that's okay. This can I tell you? This podcast
- 32:45Speaker 1: is so like informal, Like it's not like I'm sitting
- 32:48Speaker 1: up here like I'm working on CNN interviewing the dog.
- 32:51Speaker 4: I would say the best place to try and find
- 32:52Speaker 4: it on iTunes right now. It's it's such a I have.
- 32:54Speaker 2: A question was was was that one of the most
- 32:57Speaker 2: fun movies you've ever had? Because you guys fund it yourself.
- 33:00Speaker 2: It was your baby, you know, no films about or
- 33:04Speaker 2: and the message was it was it like one of
- 33:06Speaker 2: those moments or you know what was the experience like,
- 33:09Speaker 2: you know, being everything on the film?
- 33:11Speaker 4: Well, you know, honestly, I had to stay in Los
- 33:14Speaker 4: Angeles because I was I was a producer. I was
- 33:17Speaker 4: producing producing the film, and I was allocating the funds
- 33:21Speaker 4: and green lighting the funds while Michael was obviously directing
- 33:25Speaker 4: and shooting the pictures, so he was really focused on
- 33:27Speaker 4: the creative of it.
- 33:28Speaker 2: Oh wow.
- 33:29Speaker 4: And because he was shooting in Honduras, all through Guatemala
- 33:32Speaker 4: and then across Mexico, so truly the most dangerous places
- 33:35Speaker 4: in the world. And he had a crew of like
- 33:36Speaker 4: he had a crew of like four people. It was
- 33:39Speaker 4: the actors and him. Yeah.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Wow, I'm very impressed. And I can't go on without
- 33:46Speaker 1: acknowledging the fact that in twenty eighteen people included you
- 33:51Speaker 1: on the list of twenty five women Changing the World
- 33:54Speaker 1: for your activism in the area of human That is amazing.
- 34:00Speaker 2: I want to get one, you know it?
- 34:03Speaker 1: Oh Man started doing something, Randall, Michael can write you
- 34:05Speaker 1: a letter that Michael Michael, I need a reference letter
- 34:09Speaker 1: for people to thanks buddy.
- 34:12Speaker 4: We've kind of put your money where your mouth is
- 34:14Speaker 4: moment and Randall, you know that feeling. But when you're
- 34:17Speaker 4: really throwing down for something you care about and you
- 34:19Speaker 4: know matters in the world, it's it's that that's the
- 34:22Speaker 4: feeling that's incredible. It's like understanding that you know with
- 34:25Speaker 4: with this piece of art, that there's the opportunity to
- 34:27Speaker 4: affect lives.
- 34:28Speaker 2: But how and how empowering is that that you stood up,
- 34:31Speaker 2: didn't ask anybody else, just did it yourself. I mean,
- 34:33Speaker 2: there's there's something you're freeing about that I love very Yeah.
- 34:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I know you're right because you're like, well, if
- 34:39Speaker 4: I want this, then you know you don't have to
- 34:42Speaker 4: ask anybody, right, you don't have to.
- 34:43Speaker 2: Go teach or can I get that extra light that
- 34:45Speaker 2: I want on Friday night? Exactly?
- 34:47Speaker 4: Yeah, totally. And actually, because because I had that experience,
- 34:52Speaker 4: I sort of like quote unquote the bank, I I
- 34:54Speaker 4: honestly felt as as I started to produce more like
- 34:58Speaker 4: I had a better relationship with studios and producers because
- 35:04Speaker 4: you understand certain.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:05Speaker 4: I mean I was like, listen, I've done it. I
- 35:07Speaker 4: know how it feels. I know how it feels to
- 35:09Speaker 4: have someone ask you for this and you not wanting
- 35:11Speaker 4: to do it, but sometimes having to.
- 35:13Speaker 2: You know, would you do it again?
- 35:15Speaker 4: I would?
- 35:16Speaker 2: Okay, that's really neat.
- 35:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:17Speaker 2: I love when actors are just people in front of
- 35:21Speaker 2: the camera switch and produce, because, like you said, there
- 35:25Speaker 2: is an understanding. But also you come from being on
- 35:28Speaker 2: a movie set since you were who knows five years old,
- 35:31Speaker 2: and like, you know your way around. It's not a
- 35:33Speaker 2: foreign thing for you to produce. It's just now you
- 35:35Speaker 2: have all the control and integrity and all that stuff,
- 35:38Speaker 2: so especially on something that you believe, you know so fondly,
- 35:42Speaker 2: and so I think that's awesome.
- 35:44Speaker 4: Thanks guys, so thanks so much again for supporting it. Well,
- 35:47Speaker 4: I really appreciate that, dude.
- 35:48Speaker 1: Of course. I think it's a topic where I think
- 35:50Speaker 1: most people were kind of introduced to it when they
- 35:53Speaker 1: saw the film with Liam Neeson. It was like an
- 35:55Speaker 1: action pact movie and you're like, oh my god, okay,
- 35:58Speaker 1: we need to be careful. And again, like you don't
- 36:02Speaker 1: really see the nitty gritty of it. You just see
- 36:04Speaker 1: like it was an action packed movie, and for me,
- 36:07Speaker 1: when I saw that as a young kid, I was like,
- 36:08Speaker 1: oh my god, human trafficking, Like I had no idea
- 36:11Speaker 1: that existed. So the fact that you're taking us through
- 36:14Speaker 1: like how this really goes down is just amazing. Like
- 36:19Speaker 1: I really, I really appreciate you bringing light to something.
- 36:22Speaker 1: You know, You've done amazing films you started. Your breakout
- 36:26Speaker 1: role was It's still one of my most favorite movies,
- 36:29Speaker 1: Blue Crush, And you know, like I just love.
- 36:33Speaker 3: That movie too.
- 36:34Speaker 4: It's so funny lo lot because people ask me sometimes
- 36:36Speaker 4: they get nervous, like embarrassed to say that, and I'm like, no,
- 36:38Speaker 4: that like that movie is like I always call it
- 36:40Speaker 4: like one of my like artistic organs.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Okay, I love it.
- 36:44Speaker 4: It's like my heart, you know, because it's like I
- 36:46Speaker 4: cared so much about that movie, and I I mean
- 36:49Speaker 4: it was it was an absolutely crazy, beautiful experience. But
- 36:52Speaker 4: I'm that was you know, I'm so glad people continued
- 36:55Speaker 4: to be inspired by it.
- 36:56Speaker 1: You know, that was your like breakout role if I'm correct, Yeah, yeah,
- 37:00Speaker 1: it was. And then I'm kind of a dummy. Was
- 37:03Speaker 1: was Blue Crush? Before Tim weigh in on this, if
- 37:07Speaker 1: you know, was that before remember the Titans?
- 37:10Speaker 4: No, remember the Titans before? It was before I was
- 37:13Speaker 4: like fifteen or sixteen when I did remember the Titans,
- 37:16Speaker 4: and then I was I was a fine.
- 37:18Speaker 2: I'm a creative, I'm a cinematic genius.
- 37:20Speaker 1: I know I should have looked at you instead of
- 37:22Speaker 1: I am. I am an efficient to watch like people
- 37:25Speaker 1: like Kate who they have all of these amazing moments.
- 37:29Speaker 1: I just find it very inspiring when they take their
- 37:32Speaker 1: platform to start doing things that really make a difference
- 37:36Speaker 1: in this world.
- 37:37Speaker 3: Oh thank you, Junnie.
- 37:38Speaker 4: I appreciate that.
- 37:39Speaker 1: You're so welcome, and let's let's just pivot, pivot onto
- 37:43Speaker 1: even more incredible things that you're doing. You recently launched
- 37:46Speaker 1: a new website called Kindest Tell me about this?
- 37:50Speaker 2: Oh my god, First of all, before you say it,
- 37:51Speaker 2: hold on, sorry I ruined that introduction. But I am
- 37:54Speaker 2: such a dummy. I was like, what is kind dot st?
- 37:58Speaker 2: How fucking idiot is That's amazing?
- 38:01Speaker 1: Really?
- 38:01Speaker 2: I swear to god, kid, I was trying to figure
- 38:03Speaker 2: this out, like kind dot established kind kind this because
- 38:07Speaker 2: you're smart and creative and I'm an idiot.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Well, she did get accepted to Princeton let's just like
- 38:12Speaker 1: not freak out.
- 38:12Speaker 2: She's smart. And I went to film school keep going okay.
- 38:17Speaker 4: No, actually, Randall, you're you're you are, You're picking up
- 38:21Speaker 4: on like what I was playing on, which is so
- 38:23Speaker 4: I was really fortunate to have parents that raised me
- 38:28Speaker 4: to handwrite thank you letters. And at the time, I
- 38:31Speaker 4: was like, oh, I just found it so painful to
- 38:33Speaker 4: do when I was like thirteen fourteen, But as I
- 38:35Speaker 4: got older, you know, one of the I think one
- 38:38Speaker 4: of the reasons why I started to make a little
- 38:40Speaker 4: bit of a mark with people because I moved out
- 38:42Speaker 4: to LA when I was eighteen years old, and like,
- 38:44Speaker 4: knew no one, you know, so I would I would
- 38:46Speaker 4: write thank you letters to like casting directors and you know,
- 38:49Speaker 4: if a producer happened to meet me, I would write
- 38:51Speaker 4: a thank you letter, and it just wow, you know.
- 38:52Speaker 4: I even suggest that to up and coming actors, like
- 38:55Speaker 4: they ask like what could they do, and I I
- 38:57Speaker 4: always say, you know, you can easily different and shehat
- 39:00Speaker 4: yourself with with something as simple as that, you know
- 39:02Speaker 4: what I mean, and like to say thank you for
- 39:04Speaker 4: your time. I really appreciate your meeting. And it's true,
- 39:07Speaker 4: it's like everyone's busy and you know, to to just
- 39:09Speaker 4: stop and say thank you will make a difference. But
- 39:13Speaker 4: I always signed my letters kind as Kate, and so
- 39:16Speaker 4: the website itself came from my actual like you know, signature.
- 39:21Speaker 4: But to play on the actual name of it, it's
- 39:24Speaker 4: a place established kind So to put the dot after
- 39:28Speaker 4: the D is sort of a play on all of that.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Oh, I love that. I love that, and so so
- 39:33Speaker 2: and very no.
- 39:35Speaker 1: I just I want to know, like why why you
- 39:38Speaker 1: decided to start this and launch this website? Like what
- 39:42Speaker 1: what was the meaning behind all of it?
- 39:44Speaker 4: You know, I've been conceptualizing the space for a little
- 39:47Speaker 4: over a year. My grandmother passed away a little over
- 39:49Speaker 4: a year ago, and you know, she's, you know, the
- 39:52Speaker 4: most important person in my life. And it was just
- 39:54Speaker 4: a really heavy loss and when I certainly the biggest
- 39:58Speaker 4: loss I had as an adult. And I just found
- 40:01Speaker 4: it really difficult to process it in today's world, right,
- 40:06Speaker 4: you know what I mean, which is you have this
- 40:08Speaker 4: this heartbreak or this gaping loss, and yet you know
- 40:11Speaker 4: you have emails answer and you know someone wants you
- 40:14Speaker 4: to look at something on Instagram or whatever.
- 40:15Speaker 1: Life doesn't stop.
- 40:16Speaker 4: Life doesn't stop. And yet so it was It was
- 40:19Speaker 4: a real kind of disconnect for me, and I thought,
- 40:23Speaker 4: if I could create a space that I can communicate
- 40:27Speaker 4: a little deeper, lean into the vulnerability, expose myself a
- 40:30Speaker 4: little more, talk about things that are interesting, talk about
- 40:34Speaker 4: things that are a little difficult to talk about, but
- 40:35Speaker 4: all through the lens of kindness and love, and you know,
- 40:39Speaker 4: not not in a big at some cheesy way, but
- 40:41Speaker 4: really just saying hey, like let's look at let's look
- 40:44Speaker 4: at this side of the coin. It helped me, like really,
- 40:49Speaker 4: it helped me move through that time of my life
- 40:52Speaker 4: understanding that I was going to create something from it
- 40:56Speaker 4: and I and I was really nervous to do it,
- 40:59Speaker 4: to be honest, I was nervous. Yeah, I was nervous
- 41:02Speaker 4: to do it because people might know me is you know,
- 41:04Speaker 4: I mean, you guys know me really well. But I
- 41:06Speaker 4: think you know, you're exposed. I'm exposed as an actress.
- 41:09Speaker 4: I'm exposed as as someone of notoriety.
- 41:11Speaker 2: But oh, but you like putting yourself out there, yeah, really, like.
- 41:16Speaker 4: Hey, you know, this is this is me, this is
- 41:19Speaker 4: Kate the human and you know, these are these are
- 41:22Speaker 4: things that are tough things to talk about or you know,
- 41:24Speaker 4: to talk like great.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Agam But you're right it because you know what you're
- 41:28Speaker 2: known as, Kate, glamorous movie star fashions, right like.
- 41:31Speaker 1: Going to the met Gallas, starring in epic films.
- 41:34Speaker 2: But it is brave of you to put something out
- 41:37Speaker 2: like that because I think today, with what's going on
- 41:39Speaker 2: in the world, it's more relevant than ever right now.
- 41:42Speaker 2: And I think it's very cool when people like yourself
- 41:46Speaker 2: who don't have to do this, like you literally could
- 41:49Speaker 2: sit home, take the phone call, show up on the movies.
- 41:52Speaker 2: You know, do do your thing, do what you do.
- 41:54Speaker 2: You know people know you as. But when you pivot
- 41:56Speaker 2: and do something completely out of the wheelhouse and for people,
- 41:59Speaker 2: you're doing it to send a message and bring people together,
- 42:03Speaker 2: it is brave and I think that's very commendable. It's
- 42:05Speaker 2: a big deal because you're you're doing that out of
- 42:08Speaker 2: your passion. You're not doing it because somebody, yeah told
- 42:10Speaker 2: you this is what you're supposed to do. And I
- 42:12Speaker 2: think that's that's very brave.
- 42:14Speaker 4: Thank you so much, And you're right, Randall, it is.
- 42:17Speaker 4: It's it's a real passion project, you know, labor of love.
- 42:20Speaker 4: It's literally myself. I write every word. The design is
- 42:25Speaker 4: everything is is you know, wow decided. I mean there
- 42:30Speaker 4: there's no big like production team. It's myself and like
- 42:33Speaker 4: two girlfriends who are so amazing to help me with this,
- 42:37Speaker 4: you know. But but it really is. It's when I
- 42:40Speaker 4: said in my founder's leto, this is a handmade destination.
- 42:42Speaker 4: I really mean it.
- 42:43Speaker 3: You know.
- 42:43Speaker 2: Wow. I love that. I love that. I love that.
- 42:46Speaker 2: It's like you're not fucking busy enough already, and then
- 42:48Speaker 2: you throw this new company and it's like you really
- 42:51Speaker 2: are how to common causing it. But I think it's
- 42:53Speaker 2: amazing because I think that, you know, you're always creating.
- 42:57Speaker 2: I know you for that. I know you're always trying
- 42:59Speaker 2: to be you know, in the front lines and groundbreaking
- 43:02Speaker 2: and roles you choose and things you do. And I've
- 43:05Speaker 2: always been mad respect from from eighteen years ago and
- 43:08Speaker 2: even when we just worked together recently on this movie.
- 43:10Speaker 2: It's always You're always evolving. I've never hung out with
- 43:14Speaker 2: you or you and Mike Michael where it's like kind
- 43:17Speaker 2: of the same. It's always different, it's always unique. And
- 43:20Speaker 2: we also, you know, you always have such a great
- 43:22Speaker 2: attitude towards everything. Really is very positive.
- 43:25Speaker 4: Yeah, we feel the same. We feel the same about
- 43:27Speaker 4: you guys.
- 43:29Speaker 3: If there's not laughter between us, I don't know what
- 43:32Speaker 3: I mean. If we're not. If we can go months
- 43:35Speaker 3: and I can walk into your office and we just
- 43:37Speaker 3: start that.
- 43:37Speaker 2: And it's like yesterday, it's like yesterday for all of
- 43:39Speaker 2: a sudden, That's what I love. Like even we got
- 43:42Speaker 2: on when we traveled to Puerto Rico, hanging out together
- 43:44Speaker 2: for the you know, it's like it's like it was
- 43:46Speaker 2: yesterday on Wonderland or ninety minutes and half.
- 43:49Speaker 1: A true friendship where you can pick up where you
- 43:51Speaker 1: left off.
- 43:52Speaker 2: Because everybody gets busy. Everybody's got family and this and
- 43:56Speaker 2: work and blah blah blah, and but you you know,
- 43:58Speaker 2: it's like when you could pick off a pick up
- 44:00Speaker 2: where we left off and it's the same. That's where
- 44:02Speaker 2: you know the friendship.
- 44:03Speaker 3: And we're very comfortable with our job, we know our roles,
- 44:06Speaker 3: we stay in our lanes exactly when we laugh. It's
- 44:09Speaker 3: really about friendship. It's you know, I remember sitting in
- 44:13Speaker 3: Albacino's living room with you, a big deal.
- 44:18Speaker 2: That I was there. Hold on, I just want to
- 44:21Speaker 2: say we were in al Pacino's living room, yes, you
- 44:26Speaker 2: by the way, we we went on I want to
- 44:28Speaker 2: just set the tone and then Michael waiting to finish.
- 44:30Speaker 2: We walked in. There was no air conditioning on. You
- 44:33Speaker 2: know that, right, Michael, Remember it was one hundred degrees.
- 44:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:36Speaker 2: And we sat and I thought it was going to
- 44:37Speaker 2: be like a thirty minute little coffee meeting that we
- 44:39Speaker 2: had to catch up on some notes on the movie.
- 44:42Speaker 2: How many hours were we there? Oh my god, we were.
- 44:45Speaker 3: We were We were into the We were into a
- 44:47Speaker 3: couple of digits easily.
- 44:49Speaker 2: We were there a long time.
- 44:52Speaker 3: What's amazing is how fun those moments to me are,
- 44:56Speaker 3: and they're not stressful moments that yeah we're it's you know,
- 45:00Speaker 3: it's it's a guy sitting at a table and sitting
- 45:03Speaker 3: in his couch and go, yeah, we're all with al Pacino.
- 45:05Speaker 3: But how easy we flatten that and make it between friends,
- 45:08Speaker 3: and you know, it's creative. And and we were talking
- 45:11Speaker 3: to Al about money and making money and because he's
- 45:14Speaker 3: had some financial things where he made a lot of
- 45:17Speaker 3: money one time, he did make around of me at
- 45:18Speaker 3: certain times and and Randa, you said, you know, living
- 45:22Speaker 3: on a budget and looking at budget and he go,
- 45:24Speaker 3: and you both think we he was like, don't want
- 45:26Speaker 3: a budget, just make more money.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Yeah, that's amazing. I want to have that.
- 45:31Speaker 2: Outlet you know. It's great. Great, then I'm fucked. Okay,
- 45:36Speaker 2: but I will say, you know, Michael, it is always
- 45:38Speaker 2: that way. And even sitting in a room with the
- 45:42Speaker 2: giant of al Pacino, it does feel like friends hanging
- 45:45Speaker 2: out trying to create and fix things, like when we're
- 45:48Speaker 2: working on the movie and trying to make edits better
- 45:50Speaker 2: and stuff. And I will say that that's why I
- 45:53Speaker 2: text you the days said of another script for you,
- 45:54Speaker 2: because I feel like if we're not doing a movie
- 45:57Speaker 2: every year together and Kate and all of us or
- 46:00Speaker 2: every year and a half, then we're then we're screwing
- 46:02Speaker 2: ourselves because it is fun to create with family that
- 46:05Speaker 2: you trust and everybody does their job really freaking well.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Can you guys please put Kate and I in a
- 46:11Speaker 1: movie together. I will have anially for this ship. I
- 46:13Speaker 1: don't give a damn.
- 46:15Speaker 4: Make it happen, dude, Felma and Louise. Man, I'm all
- 46:18Speaker 4: in with.
- 46:18Speaker 1: You, and you know so in Kate, we got to
- 46:21Speaker 1: get it pop in Man.
- 46:22Speaker 4: We're announcing it right now, Okay.
- 46:24Speaker 2: Oh my god, this will be this will be everywhere
- 46:27Speaker 2: in the trades, so it'll be like Lala and Kate
- 46:30Speaker 2: secure the sequel rights the Felm and Louise Michael directing,
- 46:33Speaker 2: Randall producing Boom.
- 46:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:36Speaker 4: I love the headline, but actually, you know, Randall, it's
- 46:38Speaker 4: it's true because like we Michael and I were actually
- 46:41Speaker 4: looking at each other yesterday and he was like talking
- 46:45Speaker 4: about something he was doing and he and he was like, oh,
- 46:47Speaker 4: we should get Lala in it, and like Randall should
- 46:48Speaker 4: be part of this, and it's like I think that,
- 46:50Speaker 4: Like that's like my favorite thing about filmmaking, Like when
- 46:53Speaker 4: you can identify people that you love and trust like
- 46:56Speaker 4: to get it done and also have like the best time,
- 46:58Speaker 4: Like why would you do with any one else?
- 47:01Speaker 2: I agree and I and I and I. Anything you
- 47:03Speaker 2: guys have, I always say, bring it to me because
- 47:05Speaker 2: I love working with both of you and Lala and I.
- 47:07Speaker 2: You know, I have a script I'm going to send
- 47:09Speaker 2: you hopefully today, but like let's let's put it together
- 47:13Speaker 2: because the world is so crazy. That is the appreciation
- 47:17Speaker 2: now I have for friendships like this and Lala and
- 47:19Speaker 2: I want to talk about this. It's like I cherish
- 47:23Speaker 2: them tenfold, you tenfold.
- 47:25Speaker 3: Yeah, Hey, Lala, yes, Hey, I just wanted to say
- 47:28Speaker 3: one thing. This is you know, your name comes first
- 47:30Speaker 3: on this title.
- 47:31Speaker 1: So I love that I have a choice.
- 47:34Speaker 3: Yeah, you know that's what I mean. I mean, you know,
- 47:36Speaker 3: random me and you are the best second place players.
- 47:39Speaker 2: There are best ever best second places. Yeah, second place.
- 47:44Speaker 2: By the way, second place to our women is.
- 47:47Speaker 1: The way for your chicks is like super hot. I'm
- 47:52Speaker 1: just gonna say that.
- 47:53Speaker 3: I remember two vivid things other than carrying a football
- 47:57Speaker 3: and throwing football with you with Alpatina, you know, is
- 48:02Speaker 3: her walking around with a whopper? Ye? Yeah, she walk
- 48:08Speaker 3: with a whopper. And I just said, god, it's like
- 48:10Speaker 3: that's the way I met Kate and a bar once.
- 48:12Speaker 3: She was eating a hamburger and she split it in
- 48:13Speaker 3: half for a man, like that's the girl where.
- 48:15Speaker 2: You sea story? Can we reach? Let's just try one second.
- 48:21Speaker 2: I want to hear your romantic side to Kate and Michael.
- 48:24Speaker 2: Michael's asking you, was it love at first sight? When
- 48:27Speaker 2: we went to dinner that night at how can you
- 48:29Speaker 2: do it in a different way? Try?
- 48:30Speaker 1: Actually I touched his leg under the table and then
- 48:34Speaker 1: we made eye contact and we knew right then that
- 48:37Speaker 1: it was like love at first sight.
- 48:40Speaker 2: Okay, period, don't say anything. I'm gonna stop because you
- 48:43Speaker 2: know what, Michael, Michael, you know what follows at we
- 48:46Speaker 2: went to bang Town all night first.
- 48:50Speaker 3: You know what when you one thing about getting butterflies,
- 48:54Speaker 3: you know when you first meet somebody and you get butterflies,
- 48:56Speaker 3: is that the butterfly looks in the mirror and says, fuck,
- 48:59Speaker 3: there's no going back.
- 49:00Speaker 1: Oh, Michael, you're full of great things today. Write like
- 49:05Speaker 1: a little coffee table things.
- 49:07Speaker 3: It's so good, guy, I want to get out of
- 49:12Speaker 3: like a coon and goes Fuck, that's exactly what it is. Fuck.
- 49:17Speaker 3: I was so cozy for such a long time.
- 49:19Speaker 1: I know, I feel uncomfortable. And then you're getting married
- 49:22Speaker 1: and having you know, you have stup babies.
- 49:25Speaker 2: It's like amazing, Well, how long have you guys now
- 49:27Speaker 2: been together? How many years?
- 49:29Speaker 3: Almost ten years?
- 49:30Speaker 2: Wow?
- 49:31Speaker 3: Yeah, we're going on. We're sitting on a dime. But
- 49:34Speaker 3: I was gonna ask all sitting on a dime. I
- 49:37Speaker 3: was like, I'm gonna ask all that. I remember when
- 49:40Speaker 3: she had to go up and we were expanding the
- 49:42Speaker 3: scene between her and Al and we were talking about
- 49:46Speaker 3: and and and I said, just fucking give it to him.
- 49:50Speaker 3: Just geared to him, Oh this is He was so
- 49:52Speaker 3: sweet because she was like, yeah, I will, and I
- 49:55Speaker 3: go that's what it takes because it's not about intimidation,
- 49:58Speaker 3: it's about having confidence. Yep, right, And that's what I saw.
- 50:02Speaker 3: I said, just do it again, and we did it again,
- 50:04Speaker 3: and we kept doing it just to see what it
- 50:05Speaker 3: would be like, and he was game for it.
- 50:07Speaker 2: I got to tell you people haven't seen the movie yet,
- 50:10Speaker 2: but there is a scene that Michael's referring to where
- 50:12Speaker 2: she they approach the stand with the judge and their
- 50:17Speaker 2: their lawyers and legal aids or whatever, and and al
- 50:20Speaker 2: Pacino's is tough based on a true story, really tough
- 50:24Speaker 2: heart fighting lawyer, and Laala questions him and gets in
- 50:28Speaker 2: his face and whips the scene and it's so epic
- 50:32Speaker 2: and I couldn't believe it. Michael. When when I saw
- 50:34Speaker 2: it and you showed it to me, I was like,
- 50:36Speaker 2: that's my lalla, What is going on?
- 50:40Speaker 1: Michael Polish single handedly helped me get to a place
- 50:44Speaker 1: where when the scene was over, al Pacino said to me,
- 50:48Speaker 1: you're really good. And I was like, thank you so much,
- 50:50Speaker 1: and he goes, no, you are really good. And I
- 50:53Speaker 1: looked at Michael, and I was like, Michael got me there.
- 50:57Speaker 2: The best day of your life.
- 50:58Speaker 1: For really, that's the best day of my life out
- 51:00Speaker 1: meeting me.
- 51:00Speaker 2: Best day of your life. I want to say one
- 51:03Speaker 2: other things. I want to say one other thing that
- 51:05Speaker 2: I remember that night because you came home and we're
- 51:08Speaker 2: at the hotel and you came home and said that
- 51:11Speaker 2: you're like the high you were on. You just said
- 51:14Speaker 2: what Michael did for me today and that performance was
- 51:17Speaker 2: life changing and I hadn't seen anything.
- 51:18Speaker 1: The closest I'll get to doing a drug ever in
- 51:20Speaker 1: my life.
- 51:22Speaker 2: Yes, I'm proud of you.
- 51:24Speaker 1: Before we let you guys go slay the day, I
- 51:27Speaker 1: want to know what your most favorite thing to do
- 51:29Speaker 1: in quarantine is together, besides having besides going to Banktown.
- 51:34Speaker 2: Yeah, besides there we go again, back to bangtown eating.
- 51:39Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, going to Banktown. But I mean it's
- 51:42Speaker 3: always about bank Town, isn't it? Eating town?
- 51:50Speaker 4: You see my Instagram, like Michael is an incredible baker.
- 51:57Speaker 2: Instagram, My mouth the pies, that's crazy over there.
- 52:02Speaker 3: And the only person that only comments on my banking
- 52:05Speaker 3: is your freaking mom.
- 52:07Speaker 2: Oh are you serious?
- 52:09Speaker 3: She goes, why what are you doing baking?
- 52:12Speaker 2: That. Why am I?
- 52:13Speaker 3: She goes, I just why bake it? Just go buy it.
- 52:17Speaker 2: That's my mom. That's my mom. That's the Jewish father,
- 52:20Speaker 2: the Jewish father.
- 52:21Speaker 4: Hilarious.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Oh my god, Michael, I didn't even know you guys
- 52:24Speaker 2: had a little Instagram dialogue my mother.
- 52:26Speaker 3: This is huge. We've had it for oh well it's
- 52:29Speaker 3: not a year yet. But she when there's food, she
- 52:32Speaker 3: always comments like she always comments like a mom. She said,
- 52:38Speaker 3: and you're eating that, how do you stay so thin?
- 52:41Speaker 1: Yeah, that's her number one thing right now, because she
- 52:44Speaker 1: she'll call me and she'll be like, I've gained so
- 52:46Speaker 1: much weight. I will not be able to fit in
- 52:48Speaker 1: my dress.
- 52:49Speaker 2: Lola. Oh my mom's can't hear this. She's gonna fucking I.
- 52:52Speaker 1: Freaking die for Leslie.
- 52:54Speaker 3: Yeah, we're on great terms.
- 52:58Speaker 2: By the way, you guys were besties. And by the way,
- 53:00Speaker 2: you'll be on great terms again because the next movie,
- 53:02Speaker 2: you know, Leslam it makes her cameo. So she she
- 53:05Speaker 2: she'll always kiss her ass because you're a director. And
- 53:08Speaker 2: for me, she wants to tell me how many lines
- 53:10Speaker 2: she has to have in my movie. I said, Mom,
- 53:12Speaker 2: you're the fucking talent. Okay, I'll tell you, how many
- 53:15Speaker 2: lies you have in this movie?
- 53:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't even I didn't even think I still
- 53:20Speaker 3: have it. But I filmed your mom talking about you
- 53:22Speaker 3: because I wanted to send it to you one day.
- 53:23Speaker 3: I said Randall was an actor and he could act,
- 53:27Speaker 3: and he was so good, and she's just went down
- 53:30Speaker 3: the list and I and this's the only time I
- 53:33Speaker 3: send it to you. This is the only time you
- 53:35Speaker 3: ever never responded.
- 53:36Speaker 2: Oh, you have to send it to me. I need
- 53:38Speaker 2: to see it.
- 53:39Speaker 3: No, No, it was great because I go, of course,
- 53:41Speaker 3: you're not gonna respond to me. That's your mom saying.
- 53:43Speaker 1: In that Wait, did his mom say he was a
- 53:46Speaker 1: bad actor?
- 53:47Speaker 2: You're gonna go there, he was a great actor. Lies, Lala, lala.
- 53:51Speaker 2: I was, okay, I'm gonna tell you right now, I
- 53:54Speaker 2: get it. Don't do this. We're not doing this today.
- 53:56Speaker 2: I'm telling you right now. I'm looking you in the eye,
- 53:58Speaker 2: right now, look at me. If we go about it's
- 54:00Speaker 2: a great actor. When I was a kid and I
- 54:03Speaker 2: was not the best actor, but I was good. I was,
- 54:06Speaker 2: but I didn't like it, and I decided that my
- 54:09Speaker 2: obsession was always movies, and I chose to pivot out
- 54:13Speaker 2: of acting okay, And I think it was for the
- 54:16Speaker 2: betterment of the world because people like you, Kate and
- 54:19Speaker 2: every other actor out there. I give Mad respect. Like Michael,
- 54:23Speaker 2: I'm very much like Michael. I could never do it
- 54:26Speaker 2: at the level you guys do it at. I give
- 54:28Speaker 2: you Mad props. It's a gift, it's a talent that
- 54:32Speaker 2: you have to work on and a skill. And as
- 54:34Speaker 2: a kid, I think it was just fun and I
- 54:36Speaker 2: was good at it as a kid, but it definitely
- 54:38Speaker 2: was not my calling. And when I walked on to
- 54:40Speaker 2: my first movie set at nineteen years old, I just knew.
- 54:44Speaker 2: I knew that that's the last thing I'm going to
- 54:46Speaker 2: do is be an actress. So I save the world.
- 54:48Speaker 2: I save the world from it.
- 54:49Speaker 3: Yeah, but I want, I really really want you to
- 54:52Speaker 3: be in front of the camera for one of my
- 54:55Speaker 3: I can see what you can do. It'd be awesome
- 54:57Speaker 3: for you just to go tucking off. I mean, like
- 55:00Speaker 3: it wouldn't be great, you know, you know, we can
- 55:04Speaker 3: push him to the level.
- 55:05Speaker 2: Of oh my god. Okay, Michael, I'll make a deal
- 55:07Speaker 2: with you if on the next movie that we do together,
- 55:10Speaker 2: if there's a role that's easy and we have at
- 55:14Speaker 2: least four shots of Johnny Walker blue. I will try
- 55:17Speaker 2: one or two lines. That's as far as I go.
- 55:19Speaker 3: I just want you to.
- 55:23Speaker 2: Czy.
- 55:24Speaker 3: I just want you to kick somebody in the phase
- 55:26Speaker 3: or something.
- 55:26Speaker 2: Okay, I could be like a karate kid.
- 55:31Speaker 3: Karate kids getting real, like put somebody's face and gravel
- 55:35Speaker 3: or something. You know, your real visual.
- 55:39Speaker 1: We can tell. Look at this director at work right now.
- 55:42Speaker 2: I know.
- 55:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 55:43Speaker 2: Do you see how good he is? You know how
- 55:44Speaker 2: many people have asked me because you know, obviously I
- 55:46Speaker 2: have a larger than like personality. They think that translates
- 55:48Speaker 2: to acting, which it doesn't. But so I always say
- 55:51Speaker 2: no because I have respect for people that really can act.
- 55:55Speaker 2: But Michael just manipulated me into saying yes. That's how
- 55:57Speaker 2: good he fucking is.
- 55:58Speaker 4: That's amazing.
- 56:01Speaker 2: Well.
- 56:01Speaker 4: I love that the headlines from this are going to
- 56:03Speaker 4: be Randall I met is now a movie star. Oh god, Hey,
- 56:06Speaker 4: and Loheart are embarking on thumb on the wheels too.
- 56:10Speaker 1: Let him talk, Let him talk, baby, And you guys
- 56:13Speaker 1: have to promise that when we when everything's back to normal,
- 56:17Speaker 1: that you will come over or we'll come to you
- 56:19Speaker 1: and you bake us something super yummy.
- 56:21Speaker 4: Oh my God, anytime, as soon as as soon as
- 56:24Speaker 4: we can be in each other's arms again. I have
- 56:27Speaker 4: to say, Lala, because you and I met more recently
- 56:31Speaker 4: than I've known Randall, and I've known and love Randall
- 56:33Speaker 4: for a long time. But I have to say to
- 56:35Speaker 4: everyone listening that the moment that I met you on
- 56:38Speaker 4: that plane, you know, it was less than five minutes
- 56:42Speaker 4: that I was cad I ride or die?
- 56:45Speaker 2: Oh die? You guys, it was like, I don't know
- 56:48Speaker 2: what with a girl version, but you know how we
- 56:50Speaker 2: say it's a romance, it's whatever that yes is. Because
- 56:53Speaker 2: I was back there and I said, oh, this is
- 56:55Speaker 2: Lawa and You're like, I know, Lenna, And within six
- 56:57Speaker 2: minutes I was kicked, kicked out of where you you
- 57:00Speaker 2: were sitting.
- 57:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it was essentially girl times.
- 57:02Speaker 2: Yeah. It was Michael and I in the in the
- 57:03Speaker 2: in the other part of the plane, and just you.
- 57:05Speaker 1: Michael was in Puerto Rico filming.
- 57:07Speaker 2: It was just me. It was already doing the movie,
- 57:09Speaker 2: was already okay that I was with my assistant, probably
- 57:12Speaker 2: talking about something because you didn't get me.
- 57:14Speaker 4: Making the movie.
- 57:15Speaker 1: Yeah, probably making the movie.
- 57:17Speaker 2: It was five and a half hours of basically isolation.
- 57:19Speaker 2: I was isolated.
- 57:20Speaker 4: This is I just I love you both. You know, honestly,
- 57:23Speaker 4: you're like I love that You're just You're real Israel
- 57:25Speaker 4: can be your your ride or die. You're like, you're
- 57:28Speaker 4: We're the same, you know. I love that about this
- 57:31Speaker 4: this group.
- 57:32Speaker 1: I love it too, and I'm so grateful that you
- 57:34Speaker 1: guys joined us today on our podcast. This is probably
- 57:36Speaker 1: my new favorite podcast that I've done.
- 57:38Speaker 2: I agree affurently.
- 57:39Speaker 3: You know, when it becomes you, when it becomes second place,
- 57:42Speaker 3: we love that too.
- 57:45Speaker 2: If we get Obama, you'll go to second place. But
- 57:47Speaker 2: until then, yeah, your first place exactly. We love you guys.
