- 0:06SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Daily Writer, where we share a lesson each day to help you cultivate the habits for creative success.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: The modern world is both a blessing and a curse for writers.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: On the one hand, we have amazing opportunities to write, publish, connect, share, and create.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: The possibilities are almost limitless.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: But on the other hand, those limitless possibilities represent so many options that we can easily get paralyzed.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: So instead of taking action, we waste months or even years trying to decide what to do.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: And we end up making zero progress because we don't want to make a mistake.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: Well, here's an easy solution to this dilemma.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Just take the next logical step.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: In your writing journey, you've probably thought about the 587 steps that you want to take.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: However, you don't need to take all 587 steps right now.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Wherever you are in your journey, you just need to take the next one.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: If you're a complete beginner, start by posting some thoughts and stories on social media or sharing those with a few friends over email.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: If you have some writing experience, some of the next logical steps would include setting up a blog or maybe an email list.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Then after that, you'd want to consider writing a book, maybe doing some client work, starting a podcast, or doing public speaking.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: If you're a well-established writer and have been doing this for a long time, that probably means you're going to focus on growing your business and writing even more books and producing even more content, all while continuing to grow your network and building your writing empire.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: Zig Ziglar once said, lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: We all have 24-hour days.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: The reason some writers are more successful than others doesn't have to do with talent.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: It has to do with having a clear vision of where you want to go, then taking action to execute that vision.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: So don't waste time stressing out about your direction.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: Just keep taking the next logical steps, and you'll be amazed at how fast you make progress.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for listening to today's episode.
