- 0:00Speaker 1: Do you have a storage unit that you've been holding
- 0:02Speaker 1: onto for months, if not years? Do you tell yourself
- 0:05Speaker 1: that this will be the month you finally go close
- 0:07Speaker 1: it down after that rent payment clears, but it's still
- 0:10Speaker 1: there month after month? This is Trey from the Treehouse Show,
- 0:13Speaker 1: and if this is you, you need OPT services. Call
- 0:17Speaker 1: OPT services, and they'll give you a free estimate on
- 0:19Speaker 1: clearing out your storage unit, but then they'll show you
- 0:22Speaker 1: what separates them from other companies. They'll go through your items,
- 0:25Speaker 1: separate the ones that have value, sell them, and split
- 0:28Speaker 1: the profits with you. So you can finally close the
- 0:30Speaker 1: door on that storage unit and make some money in
- 0:32Speaker 1: the process. Give them a call or text today at

- 0:57Speaker 2: It is time. You'll leave your worries outside and laugh
- 1:02Speaker 2: with us inside the treehouse. I'm Dan O'Malley along with
- 1:06Speaker 2: Trey Trinholm. If you love what you hear here today,

- 1:11Speaker 2: share button. Send it to everybody you know. Share it
- 1:13Speaker 2: on social media. I can tell you right now this
- 1:15Speaker 2: one's going to be a doozy. We are jumping right in.
- 1:18Speaker 2: It has been a long time since we have played
- 1:24Speaker 2: certain games on this show, but I have a feeling
- 1:26Speaker 2: one may make a comeback here. This is a very
- 1:31Speaker 2: shocking story. A kennel lost my dog for 31 hours,
- 1:36Speaker 2: found him behind a strip mall, then charged me $ 190
- 1:42Speaker 2: for recovery coordination plus $ 95 for extended care and won't
- 1:50Speaker 2: release him to me without a no review form. The
- 1:55Speaker 2: owner called finding him a premium service. So the options
- 2:03Speaker 2: now are A, pay the $ 285, sign their release, take
- 2:09Speaker 2: him home tonight, and warn other owners in the local
- 2:12Speaker 2: group quietly. B, pay nothing further, demand the itemized justification
- 2:18Speaker 2: in writing, file a consumer complaint with the state over
- 2:20Speaker 2: the no review clause, and pursue the vet bill and
- 2:21Speaker 2: small claims.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Or....
- 2:28Speaker 2: Could the answer be... C. Which is?
- 2:33Speaker 1: Kill everyone involved and burn the motherfucker to the ground.
- 2:38Speaker 2: And for those of us that are, for those of
- 2:39Speaker 2: you that are new here inside the treehouse, that game
- 2:42Speaker 2: is called Could the Answer Be C? C is the
- 2:47Speaker 2: answer to all of those questions in Could the Answer
- 2:50Speaker 2: Be C? And this one, this one, I... Whew! Look,
- 2:55Speaker 2: this is one of those times where in show construction,
- 2:59Speaker 2: it would be wise for me to take the other
- 3:01Speaker 2: side and go, Trey, that would be an overreaction, and
- 3:04Speaker 2: that would be wrong to do. However, I'm going to
- 3:08Speaker 2: team up with you on this one. We're going to
- 3:10Speaker 2: be like the Avengers, and we're going to assemble, and
- 3:14Speaker 2: there's going to be a Ford Lee sign on a
- 3:15Speaker 2: pile of ashes.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Yeah, when they hit me, first of all, when you...
- 3:23Speaker 1: Not only you lose my dog, but then you find
- 3:25Speaker 1: them and you are holding them hostage. This is where
- 3:31Speaker 1: I would all of a sudden become whatever Liam Neeson's
- 3:36Speaker 1: character was in Taken.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Brian Mills.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Brian Mills. And calmly explain to them that you have
- 3:44Speaker 1: two choices. That is, release my dog now, or I
- 3:51Speaker 1: am going to kill every one of you. in a
- 3:54Speaker 1: horrendously horrible way. And I would tell them, I would go,
- 4:00Speaker 1: your best option right now, if you want to continue this,
- 4:03Speaker 1: is you need to call the authorities for protection. And
- 4:08Speaker 1: it'll only be a hiatus while I am arrested, but
- 4:11Speaker 1: I will get out and I will find you and
- 4:14Speaker 1: it will just make it worse. This will be like
- 4:15Speaker 1: my father when I threatened to call the police on him.
- 4:19Speaker 1: He said, go ahead. I'll post bail.
- 4:24Speaker 2: I have no priors, son. I have no priors and
- 4:29Speaker 2: I'm a boomer with cash. Oh, man, this one really
- 4:36Speaker 2: is a doozy. I'll try to edit this as I
- 4:39Speaker 2: give as I go down and give you some context,
- 4:41Speaker 2: because in very subreddit style, they over explain things. I
- 4:48Speaker 2: don't really feel like there's a lot needed. Well, I mean,
- 4:52Speaker 2: the short version is you needed to kennel your dog
- 4:54Speaker 2: because you had to go out of town. That's the
- 4:56Speaker 2: short version. They say, my dad had hip surgery in
- 5:01Speaker 2: another state. Six nights and our beagle needed somewhere to be.
- 5:05Speaker 2: The kennel is the one with the good reviews and
- 5:07Speaker 2: the double gated play yard.
- 5:08Speaker 1: $ 62 a.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Night, $ 372 paid a drop off on a Monday at
- 5:12Speaker 2: 715 in the morning. He is 11, a shelter dog
- 5:18Speaker 2: from 2016. See, there's already three different things in there
- 5:20Speaker 2: we don't actually really need to know. Anyway, Thursday at 4.50 p.m.,
- 5:25Speaker 2: the kennel called to say they couldn't find him. I
- 5:28Speaker 2: drove the route in my head the entire evening. He
- 5:32Speaker 2: turned up Friday night behind a strip mall two streets over.
- 5:36Speaker 2: A woman who feeds strays in the area found him
- 5:39Speaker 2: and kept him there until the kennel arrived. I picked
- 5:42Speaker 2: him up on Saturday. He had a torn nail, dehydrated,
- 5:46Speaker 2: And the urgent vet bill ran $ 148. For the record,
- 5:51Speaker 2: that's a pretty good urgent vet bill.
- 5:53Speaker 1: It's a good urgent vet bill. And honestly, $ 62 a
- 5:57Speaker 1: night is a very reasonable kindle. It's not bad.
- 6:00Speaker 2: But I mean, it's probably $ 62 because they let them
- 6:04Speaker 2: free range at night. Anyway, $ 148 at the emergency vet.
- 6:10Speaker 2: At the counter, the folder had my name on it.
- 6:12Speaker 2: The original $ 372 already paid, plus.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Recovery coordination fee, $ 190, plus extended care night, $ 95 for
- 6:21Speaker 2: the night he was found. Under the total, a line
- 6:24Speaker 2: for a signature, a release acknowledging his safe return and
- 6:29Speaker 2: agreeing not to post publicly about the experience while their
- 6:34Speaker 2: insurance question is open. That was in quotations. The owner
- 6:38Speaker 2: said gently, like he was doing me a favor. We
- 6:42Speaker 2: could have turned this over to animal control, but we
- 6:43Speaker 2: chose to keep looking. Finding him as a premium service,
- 6:46Speaker 2: we don't even have to offer it. He's behind the
- 6:51Speaker 2: counter door on a leash while this is being explained
- 6:54Speaker 2: to me. The dog is, not the actual owner of
- 6:58Speaker 2: the store. That's where the story would take a really
- 7:01Speaker 2: interesting turn. What nobody can prove is how he got out.
- 7:05Speaker 2: It doesn't change that he was theirs to keep track of,
- 7:07Speaker 2: but I will never know whether a latch failed or someone...
- 7:10Speaker 2: Someone simply wasn't paying attention. Roommate drove me back, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 7:19Speaker 2: At the end of the day, they wanted extra money
- 7:22Speaker 2: for locating the dog that somehow got out on their
- 7:25Speaker 2: watch and more money on top of all of it.
- 7:29Speaker 1: And a, you know, a cover your ass document that says,
- 7:37Speaker 1: You're not going to tell everyone about our F-ups. No.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Which is your leverage as the customer.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Well, at a certain point, that's almost blackmail that you're
- 7:48Speaker 1: holding the animal. I mean, it is at that point
- 7:52Speaker 1: I call the police for their own safety. Because otherwise,
- 8:01Speaker 1: my first reaction is, I have a gun in my car.
- 8:06Speaker 1: When I walk back in this room, you are going
- 8:08Speaker 1: to have a choice. Choose wisely.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Did you see Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade? So, yeah.
- 8:23Speaker 2: I think it's wise what you're saying. Call the police.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Not because of necessarily anything illegal they're doing. Although there
- 8:31Speaker 2: is some debate there. But it is for their protection.
- 8:34Speaker 2: And what I would tell the police... is just letting
- 8:37Speaker 2: you know these people have kidnapped my dog and they
- 8:44Speaker 2: want ransom. I'm now going to liberate. I mean, I'm
- 8:49Speaker 2: going to rescue my dog. I suggest you get here
- 8:53Speaker 2: to clean up. Bring a shovel. I'm not even sure
- 9:01Speaker 2: if I would be able to see through the red.
- 9:05Speaker 2: to actually make the phone call, I think I'd probably
- 9:09Speaker 2: just pull that guy over the counter and then just
- 9:11Speaker 2: start the process early.
- 9:13Speaker 1: No, because at the point where they tell me they've
- 9:15Speaker 1: lost my dog, my reaction, I, as much as I
- 9:22Speaker 1: want to think, you know, I, and I try to
- 9:24Speaker 1: grow at, and I have tried to evolve and become
- 9:28Speaker 1: a more calmer, rational person. If you tell me you've
- 9:33Speaker 1: lost my dog, through the stream of obscenities and my
- 9:40Speaker 1: screaming at you, the point is going to be made
- 9:45Speaker 1: crystal clear that your life depends on you finding them
- 9:49Speaker 1: alive and well.
- 9:53Speaker 2: And even then, it's not guaranteed.
- 9:54Speaker 1: No, but that's your best chance. Yeah, that's your only chance.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Find the dog you might live. Don't find the dog
- 10:05Speaker 2: you did.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Yeah. And it's not going to be a wham, bam,
- 10:10Speaker 1: thank you, ma'am, real quickie either. You're going to suffer.
- 10:15Speaker 2: It is really unfathomable to me to... have a service-based business,
- 10:24Speaker 2: fail at the service, and then charge the customer more
- 10:32Speaker 2: that is from your failures. Oh, I don't have to
- 10:36Speaker 2: find this dog. You know what? Technically, you're correct.
- 10:42Speaker 1: But....
- 10:44Speaker 2: If you're offering a service-based business, it would definitely be
- 10:47Speaker 2: within your business's best interest to find the thing that
- 10:50Speaker 2: you are in charge of holding onto for me.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Well, and then, because at a certain point, if they
- 10:59Speaker 1: just were trying to charge extra money, I would be like,
- 11:02Speaker 1: you know what? I'll pay it. I will take it
- 11:05Speaker 1: out of your ass. I will get every cent of
- 11:08Speaker 1: this out of your ass. A pound of flesh... so
- 11:13Speaker 1: to speak, but it will be costly. But then to
- 11:18Speaker 1: try to put in there, like basically an NDA on
- 11:23Speaker 1: your F up and you're going to hold my dog hostage. No, no, no, no.
- 11:29Speaker 1: First of all, it's probably not worth the paper it's
- 11:31Speaker 1: printed on legally. And, but yeah, no, that's, I can't even,
- 11:40Speaker 1: I can't. There, there are, there are some things that
- 11:46Speaker 1: I simply, I can't fathom the rage I would feel.
- 11:50Speaker 1: And this is one of them. I mean, I actually,
- 11:55Speaker 1: I can fathom it. I just, it would put me,
- 11:59Speaker 1: I know myself, I would be so blindingly mad that
- 12:06Speaker 1: it would be a miracle if I didn't do something
- 12:08Speaker 1: really stupid.
- 12:11Speaker 2: And that that's the part where it goes from being
- 12:14Speaker 2: unfathomable to a fever dream because it's like okay it's
- 12:20Speaker 2: on now um because i'm with you i think i
- 12:24Speaker 2: think it would actually be a very scary moment to
- 12:26Speaker 2: see the switch in my brain flip when i see
- 12:30Speaker 2: my dog after all the stress and worry that i've
- 12:33Speaker 2: had saying they couldn't find my dog and then i'm
- 12:36Speaker 2: now in the i'm in i'm in the i'm in
- 12:38Speaker 2: the kennel I'm in the place and here's my dog
- 12:41Speaker 2: and they've got it behind the counter on the leash.
- 12:43Speaker 2: And they say, you can't have your dog until you
- 12:45Speaker 2: pay X, Y, Z. I don't know how much of
- 12:48Speaker 2: a delay there would be in the rage. It would
- 12:54Speaker 2: not be a long fuse.
- 12:56Speaker 1: And I'm sitting here in my mind. I play it out.
- 12:58Speaker 1: I'm like, is this place smart enough that it's set
- 13:01Speaker 1: up like a convenience store and they're behind bulletproof glass?
- 13:04Speaker 1: Because if this is just a counter separating us, I'm
- 13:08Speaker 1: coming over that.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Don't let these short legs fool you. I'm springy.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:18Speaker 2: And no one says that I have to jump over it.
- 13:20Speaker 2: All I got to do is just drag you over it.
- 13:23Speaker 2: There are many, many options here at our disposal. But ultimately,
- 13:26Speaker 2: don't kidnap our dog.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Right. And if you're running a doggy daycare, you also...
- 13:38Speaker 1: Be prepared. Make sure your facility is set up for
- 13:41Speaker 1: all types of breeds. Because I'll give you this. Beagles
- 13:44Speaker 1: are sneaky little bastards. I had one. They are too
- 13:48Speaker 1: smart for their own good. And they have an uncanny ability.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Like if you give them a fence, they might go
- 13:56Speaker 1: over it. They might go under it. They are diggers.
- 13:59Speaker 1: And so these are eventualities you have to be prepared for.
- 14:05Speaker 1: And if you're not, then don't take beagles. There are
- 14:08Speaker 1: some dogs you just simply should not take.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Yeah, that is very true. And what I would do
- 14:14Speaker 2: is also, I mean, I don't know, because I've been
- 14:16Speaker 2: to a few of these doggy daycare type places and
- 14:19Speaker 2: many of them are very, very good. They're very nice.
- 14:22Speaker 2: And if it were me and I'm running that business,
- 14:27Speaker 2: I would have cameras everywhere. So that way, if one
- 14:31Speaker 2: of the animals does get out in some way, then
- 14:35Speaker 2: you can at least go back and to see how
- 14:37Speaker 2: it happened. Also on top of that, I would, you know,
- 14:39Speaker 2: and most of the doggy daycare places I've been to
- 14:42Speaker 2: do this, which is treat it sort of like recess
- 14:44Speaker 2: in elementary school. There's teachers and everything out there with
- 14:47Speaker 2: the kids, keeping an eye on them. Same thing. Like
- 14:50Speaker 2: the place shouldn't just let the dogs completely free without
- 14:53Speaker 2: any observation, because you don't know what's going to happen.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Sometimes some dogs don't get along to get into a fight.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Maybe you got a sneaky beagle that's cutting through the
- 15:00Speaker 2: fence with some, you know, wire cutters or something. It's
- 15:03Speaker 2: good to be out there keeping an eye on things.
- 15:05Speaker 1: If I ran a doggy daycare, the outside play area
- 15:10Speaker 1: would look like the yard at a penitentiary. It would
- 15:14Speaker 1: be at least double-fenced. Because I would be so paranoid
- 15:21Speaker 1: about losing someone's pet.
- 15:24Speaker 2: One side of the yard, you've got the Mexican dogs.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Another side of the yard, you've got the Rottweiler black dogs.
- 15:32Speaker 2: And then you got like the white poodle bitches over
- 15:34Speaker 2: on the side. You got some of them are working out.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Some are playing basketball. And there's one beagle standing right
- 15:41Speaker 2: in the middle of the yard, shaking his pant leg
- 15:43Speaker 2: and as little chunks of concrete and dirt fall out
- 15:46Speaker 2: of his leg. And when you take him back to
- 15:51Speaker 2: his kennel, he's got a poster up of Bridget Bardo.
- 15:57Speaker 1: He's got a poster up of Woodstock.
- 16:08Speaker 2: I never would have thought about that. That's really good.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Snoopy Dufresne.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Now I want to see....
- 16:20Speaker 1: Charlie Brown is Morgan Freeman's character.
- 16:24Speaker 2: I want to see It's a Shawshank Redemption Charlie Brown.
- 16:33Speaker 2: It's like the other day we laughed about the Muppets
- 16:35Speaker 2: having a comeback and having them redo some more of
- 16:39Speaker 2: the current movies. I would love to see it to
- 16:42Speaker 2: Shawshank Redemption, Charlie Brown. Also a Muppet version. I would
- 16:48Speaker 2: also like to see the Muppet version of Shawshank Redemption. Oh, God.
- 16:52Speaker 2: My stomach hurts. Oh, God, that's good. Anyway, yes, we
- 16:56Speaker 2: will kill you if you kidnap our dogs. We're not
- 17:00Speaker 2: going to kill you over a check, over a tab
- 17:03Speaker 2: at a restaurant or anything, but we are going to
- 17:07Speaker 2: take issue with certain things. We've talked about this before,
- 17:10Speaker 2: but it's always interesting how people can find new and
- 17:13Speaker 2: interesting ways to screw things up. And in this case,
- 17:19Speaker 2: it is a split-check situation where... Hang on, I lost
- 17:23Speaker 2: it in my tab. Okay, there it is. Am I
- 17:28Speaker 2: the a-hole... For paying my part instead of splitting the
- 17:33Speaker 2: entire bill. Now, just that headline? I don't know. There
- 17:41Speaker 2: are a few questions that need to be answered. But
- 17:46Speaker 2: there's more. Am I the a-hole for paying my part
- 17:51Speaker 2: instead of splitting the bill? Tonight, I went out with
- 17:54Speaker 2: my girlfriend and her co-workers. Yes, you were the a-hole,
- 17:59Speaker 2: and on some level, you messed up. Once you included
- 18:04Speaker 2: significant other in there, that is a wrinkle that really
- 18:08Speaker 2: changes things. Now, this guy says it was a very
- 18:13Speaker 2: informal event with no boss, no superior. One even came
- 18:17Speaker 2: with an underage sister and his boyfriend. He says she
- 18:22Speaker 2: doesn't have much interaction with them other than in the workplace.
- 18:24Speaker 2: He's talking about his girlfriend. So they're little more than acquaintances.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Dinner was okay. Talked mostly among ourselves. Finally came the check.
- 18:32Speaker 2: They wanted to split it evenly, even though me and
- 18:34Speaker 2: my girlfriend ate two pizzas and a Coke, while many
- 18:37Speaker 2: took meat, wine, entrees, and desserts. Okay, this makes sense.
- 18:43Speaker 2: I was like, this sounds European, like they took meat
- 18:45Speaker 2: and stuff. Okay, it is.
- 18:47Speaker 1: It's Europe.
- 18:48Speaker 2: They said our part was a total of 37 pounds,
- 18:51Speaker 2: while they asked us to pay 52 pounds. In American dollars,
- 18:56Speaker 2: that's a difference of like $ 500, $ 600, I think. My
- 19:02Speaker 2: money math conversion is not the best. I don't know
- 19:04Speaker 2: what the current exchange rate is.
- 19:07Speaker 1: That's about probably $ 18.
- 19:09Speaker 2: All right, so whatever. $ 300, $ 400, $ 500, $ 18 still. So
- 19:16Speaker 2: they wanted to pay basically almost $ 20 more than what
- 19:19Speaker 2: they felt they should. So the boyfriend here says, I
- 19:21Speaker 2: intervened and said politely that I was going to pay
- 19:24Speaker 2: for our parts today. and let them share the rest
- 19:27Speaker 2: of the bill in any way they preferred. After paying,
- 19:29Speaker 2: we said goodbye and went home. Then she, my girlfriend,
- 19:33Speaker 2: started ranting about how she felt ashamed and that I
- 19:36Speaker 2: am too strict, that because of me, her co-workers could
- 19:40Speaker 2: start mistreating her. I honestly feel wronged and sad. I'm
- 19:45Speaker 2: a very honest person that simply doesn't like taking advantage
- 19:47Speaker 2: of others and vice versa. I've always paid like this.
- 19:50Speaker 2: and she's always supported it wholeheartedly because she too hates
- 19:53Speaker 2: paying more for no reason. Also, I'm in a bad
- 19:57Speaker 2: period financially and try to avoid unnecessary expenses. I spend
- 20:00Speaker 2: basically nothing for myself, devote my entire budget to her
- 20:03Speaker 2: and our relationship to make sure she feels loved and
- 20:05Speaker 2: taken care of. I really try, guys, to be a
- 20:07Speaker 2: good partner and to go past this crappy part of
- 20:09Speaker 2: my life. So when, despite my devotion, I'm treated like this,
- 20:12Speaker 2: I feel really sad. Am I the a-hole or should
- 20:16Speaker 2: I just suck it up? Or am I not? And
- 20:19Speaker 2: should I stand and tell her I don't deserve this?
- 20:25Speaker 1: Most of the time, I will side with the person saying,
- 20:28Speaker 1: you know, pay your fair share. But that is such
- 20:34Speaker 1: a small amount in the big picture that, A, if
- 20:37Speaker 1: you can't afford it, then don't go out. Right.
- 20:39Speaker 2: If you really are trying to be really strict financially,
- 20:41Speaker 2: you should have gone out in the first place.
- 20:43Speaker 1: But yeah, if you're with her coworkers and you're going
- 20:47Speaker 1: to create a fuss over, I mean, if we're talking
- 20:50Speaker 1: about $ 50, $ 100, I'm on your side, man. But $ 18,
- 20:57Speaker 1: give or take, yeah, you're going to, you know, and
- 21:04Speaker 1: if everyone else is like, yeah, just here, we'll split
- 21:06Speaker 1: it up and then you're that person. Like I said,
- 21:10Speaker 1: if I'm in that situation, if I know I'm going
- 21:12Speaker 1: to do that, I pull the server aside and say,
- 21:15Speaker 1: you keep my check separate.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:17Speaker 1: That way, when the bill comes and they're like, oh, well,
- 21:20Speaker 1: everyone just chip in, I can just go, hey, guys,
- 21:23Speaker 1: you don't... I got our bill separate because I don't
- 21:26Speaker 1: drink and everything else. So, yeah, y'all go ahead and
- 21:30Speaker 1: split it amongst yourself. I got mine. Yeah. But you
- 21:32Speaker 1: didn't do that. It's one big bill. Now you're making
- 21:35Speaker 1: a fuss. You're embarrassing her. It's not worth the money. Right. That's... Ultimately...
- 21:40Speaker 1: On principle, I understand where he's coming from, but at
- 21:42Speaker 1: a certain point, you have to go, it's not worth
- 21:44Speaker 1: the money.
- 21:46Speaker 2: You have to be able to look ahead a couple
- 21:48Speaker 2: of steps in a situation like this, which is think
- 21:52Speaker 2: about what happens after this evening when she has to
- 21:55Speaker 2: go to work with these people, right? You have, and
- 22:00Speaker 2: you've never met these people before. So not only are
- 22:02Speaker 2: they judging you, they're judging her based on you. So
- 22:07Speaker 2: you have two options. You can look like a cheap a-hole.
- 22:12Speaker 2: And that is what they're going to remember. And they're
- 22:17Speaker 2: going to ask her the next day at work, God,
- 22:21Speaker 2: Trey's a real cheap ass. Or you can look like
- 22:27Speaker 2: the hero. Swoop in. I'm not even saying pay for everybody,
- 22:33Speaker 2: but just happily split the check with them all. And
- 22:38Speaker 2: that way, you are a non-issue. There's only glowing things
- 22:43Speaker 2: to say about you, hopefully. But at the very least,
- 22:45Speaker 2: there's nothing bad to say. At a certain dollar amount,
- 22:50Speaker 2: then we can start having a more difficult discussion. But
- 22:54Speaker 2: over what amounts to basically $ 18, like you said, not
- 22:58Speaker 2: worth it. And honestly, paying $ 18 to get some positive
- 23:04Speaker 2: will and positive favor for your ladies' co-workers, Worth it.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Well, and also in this situation, I would be willing
- 23:12Speaker 1: to bet at some point when you made this statement
- 23:16Speaker 1: and all the girls' faces started scrunching up and disapproval,
- 23:22Speaker 1: you had a chance to pull out and go, okay, fine,
- 23:25Speaker 1: you know what, we'll split it up. But it sounds
- 23:28Speaker 1: like you didn't. You tried to hold your ground. And so, yeah,
- 23:31Speaker 1: then your girl looks... The fact that now your girl's
- 23:35Speaker 1: pissed off It would have been worth, $ 18 is cheap
- 23:41Speaker 1: to keep the peace. Right.
- 23:43Speaker 2: And here's something to keep in mind. Just because you
- 23:45Speaker 2: held your ground doesn't mean that when you look up,
- 23:49Speaker 2: anyone will still be on your ground. They may leave
- 23:53Speaker 2: and just leave you alone. Congratulations, you held your ground.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Now you're all by yourself. Now, if it's $ 100, yeah. Yeah.
- 24:03Speaker 2: A hundred bucks, I will be that a-hole.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Do you feel restless and anxious? Feel like something's missing

- 25:27Speaker 2: Solving all the world's problems. one treehouse show at a time.
- 25:32Speaker 2: And in order to do that, we have to have
- 25:34Speaker 2: a respite from solving problems because A, it's tiresome, and B,
- 25:38Speaker 2: we just need to change it up a little bit
- 25:40Speaker 2: to keep things interesting. And we do that in here
- 25:42Speaker 2: with birthdays. Today is Wednesday, September 30th, 2026. Birthdays today.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Formula One superstar, multiple-time world champion Max Verstappen is 29.
- 26:05Speaker 2: He accomplished more in his 20s than Trey and I
- 26:09Speaker 2: ever will. And I'm really not that mad about it.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Thumbs up, bro. Those Formula One guys are on another level.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Oh, it's unbelievable. I mean, they are... For the most part.
- 26:23Speaker 1: So they're 22... drivers in an F1. And for the
- 26:28Speaker 1: most part, they are all absolutely, even, even the bad
- 26:32Speaker 1: ones are elite. There there's, there's one, one guy named
- 26:35Speaker 1: Lance Stroll, who's just a complete nepo baby and, and, uh,
- 26:40Speaker 1: sucks ass. But, uh, but you know, I don't, I
- 26:42Speaker 1: don't begrudge him if my dad was a billionaire and
- 26:44Speaker 1: he wanted to fund me being an F1 driver. Okay.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Sure.
- 26:50Speaker 1: But I'm not been, Verstappen is funny because when he
- 26:54Speaker 1: first started, I mean, he was just the cocky kid.
- 26:57Speaker 1: And then as his fame has grown, he is, he is,
- 27:00Speaker 1: and he was very, very tight lipped, very, very, um,
- 27:07Speaker 1: robotic almost. And then as he's won championships and, and
- 27:11Speaker 1: he has gotten to a point where he is, I mean,
- 27:15Speaker 1: I would say generally regarded as the best driver. Um,
- 27:21Speaker 1: he's relaxed a lot and he, he will say some
- 27:25Speaker 1: of the damnedest things. And, uh, he's just, he's funny
- 27:29Speaker 1: as hell. He's very dry, but the stuff he says,
- 27:35Speaker 1: you know, last year, I think it was, there was
- 27:38Speaker 1: famously someone asked him, well, you know, what if so-and-so
- 27:43Speaker 1: had done this or you had done this? And he goes, well,
- 27:46Speaker 1: What if my mom had balls? She'd be my dad.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Something like that. It's not an exact quote, but it
- 27:52Speaker 1: was something like that. It was like, okay.
- 27:55Speaker 2: Where is he from?
- 27:57Speaker 1: Netherlands. I forgot.
- 28:00Speaker 2: Because that's the kind of thing that my papa from Bartlesville,
- 28:05Speaker 2: Oklahoma would say. I don't expect redneck speak out of
- 28:11Speaker 2: a Formula One driver. Belgium. I don't expect redneck speak
- 28:16Speaker 2: out of a Formula One driver, although it is quite refreshing.
- 28:19Speaker 2: I like knowing that those types of sayings are global.
- 28:24Speaker 1: He's gotten to that point that he is so elite.
- 28:31Speaker 1: He knows he can say what others can't because they
- 28:36Speaker 1: might get in trouble. Red Bull is not touching. Red Bull,
- 28:40Speaker 1: in fact, just literally paid him there was talk that
- 28:43Speaker 1: he might go to another team because Red Bull has
- 28:47Speaker 1: not done great this year. Ever since they got rid
- 28:50Speaker 1: of Christian Horner, they've kind of been falling apart. And
- 28:54Speaker 1: so there was talk that Verstappen might go to another team.
- 28:58Speaker 1: He just signed, I want to say, you know, it's
- 29:02Speaker 1: like a $ 55 million. No, I'm sorry. I take that back.
- 29:06Speaker 1: It's more than that. I think it's maybe a, close
- 29:11Speaker 1: to a hundred million dollars a year deal. Oh, uh,
- 29:15Speaker 1: it's the most, it's the biggest contract in F1 history.
- 29:18Speaker 1: And yeah, he will absolutely, I forgot. He, he makes
- 29:22Speaker 1: like a million dollars a lap basically at least.
- 29:27Speaker 2: That's disgusting.
- 29:28Speaker 1: All right. I'll have to go back and look at
- 29:30Speaker 1: the site. It's, it's an absolute ridiculous amount, but he's
- 29:34Speaker 1: worth it. I mean, and that's why generally F1 drivers
- 29:37Speaker 1: are the highest paid athletes in the world.
- 29:39Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, well you gotta look at it this
- 29:40Speaker 2: way uh like you said there's only like what 22
- 29:42Speaker 2: of them yeah so you're talking about an extremely elite
- 29:47Speaker 2: club they are not the same but numbers wise There
- 29:55Speaker 2: are more Navy SEALs on this planet than there are
- 29:58Speaker 2: Formula One drivers. There are more Delta operators that we
- 30:04Speaker 2: don't officially acknowledge than there are Formula One drivers. I mean,
- 30:09Speaker 2: it is a very, very, very tiny pool of people
- 30:13Speaker 2: that can do what those guys do.
- 30:14Speaker 1: His contract is worth... It's $ 110 to $ 128 million a year,
- 30:16Speaker 1: depending on bonuses.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Really?
- 30:17Speaker 1: Bonuses on that amount?
- 30:17Speaker 2: So....
- 30:23Speaker 1: Yeah, he makes at least, they run 22, like $ 5
- 30:27Speaker 1: million a race.
- 30:31Speaker 2: To me, when you're at that sort of a salary,
- 30:34Speaker 2: the idea of a bonus is truly laughable. Like he's
- 30:38Speaker 2: going to be driving a lap, but he's making, you know,
- 30:41Speaker 2: six figures per on thinking, you know what? I wasn't
- 30:45Speaker 2: going to go faster this lap, but I am now
- 30:47Speaker 2: because I'll get an extra million dollars on top of
- 30:50Speaker 2: my $ 101 million.
- 30:52Speaker 1: They just, I mean, Disney just did a whole special on,
- 30:59Speaker 1: I think it was Disney, it was Disney or ESPN,
- 31:01Speaker 1: but one of the, that same family about him and
- 31:04Speaker 1: a go, and you know, go-kart racing, which not like Malibu,
- 31:08Speaker 1: but there's actual go-kart racing. That's what kids do. And they're,
- 31:13Speaker 1: as they go up and racing, it was max versus 100.
- 31:18Speaker 1: It was like, how many laps would it take him
- 31:19Speaker 1: to pass 100 people? To get to the front. And
- 31:22Speaker 1: I think it was like 32. In a go-kart.
- 31:27Speaker 2: That is pretty cool. See that's the kind of stuff.
- 31:29Speaker 2: I enjoy that stuff. Even though I don't. That sounds
- 31:33Speaker 2: like a stunt or a bit. That the guys from
- 31:35Speaker 2: Dude Perfect. Or like Mr. Beast would do. And I
- 31:41Speaker 2: should watch those. But I don't for some reason. But
- 31:44Speaker 2: that type of a hook gets me in. I would
- 31:47Speaker 2: like to see Max Verstappen. Go up against. you know,
- 31:52Speaker 2: a hundred normal average Joes. Well, they're asking a go-kart.
- 31:56Speaker 1: And these are like cart drivers. So they're, they're not
- 31:59Speaker 1: complete novices. Karting is a whole series in, in racing. So,
- 32:05Speaker 1: but they're going up against the best driver in the world.
- 32:08Speaker 1: And yeah, there's even, I know there's even talk that
- 32:12Speaker 1: they're going to try to get max and cause dude,
- 32:17Speaker 1: if you go look at some of his different things
- 32:19Speaker 1: he's done, It's impressive. Especially in his younger years, Red
- 32:25Speaker 1: Bull had him do in some of their racing against
- 32:28Speaker 1: different cars, everything else. There's talk they're going to try
- 32:30Speaker 1: to get him behind the wheel of a NASCAR for
- 32:33Speaker 1: a race, which that would be fascinating.
- 32:37Speaker 2: That would be a lot of fun.
- 32:41Speaker 1: F1 drivers are the best drivers in the world, but
- 32:44Speaker 1: it's so different. A stock car is so different, but
- 32:47Speaker 1: I think even he'll... So far, there's nothing on wheels
- 32:51Speaker 1: that he can't drive and win in. And by the way,
- 32:55Speaker 1: that contract just to give you, that's just his contract.
- 33:00Speaker 1: That doesn't include endorsements. That's how much money the dude makes. Yeah.
- 33:05Speaker 2: I am excited though, at the possibility of max for
- 33:08Speaker 2: stop and hopping in a NASCAR, because then that means
- 33:12Speaker 2: there is the real possibility. We get a real life
- 33:15Speaker 2: ballot of Ricky Bobby, uh, Where it's Max Verstappen and
- 33:21Speaker 2: a NASCAR guy on foot running towards the finish line.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Hopefully they don't make out at the end. But I mean,
- 33:34Speaker 2: you talk about life imitating art, that would be, oh yeah,
- 33:38Speaker 2: that would be pretty sweet. Making the leap. I think
- 33:43Speaker 2: that's what it is. I like seeing like when someone,
- 33:46Speaker 2: like the average Joe's show back in the day where
- 33:50Speaker 2: you had former NFL players going up against in shape,
- 33:54Speaker 2: average Joe's doing football stuff. And Trey and I were like,
- 33:59Speaker 2: there's no chance that average Joe's are going to get
- 34:01Speaker 2: their ass kicked all over that field. And for the
- 34:05Speaker 2: most part, they did even retired NFL players are still
- 34:09Speaker 2: going to be better than the average guy. But it's
- 34:11Speaker 2: like someone had said a long time ago that during
- 34:14Speaker 2: the Olympics, and I love this idea during the Olympics,
- 34:17Speaker 2: They should, in every event, have one regular person competing
- 34:22Speaker 2: just so you can see the difference at how elite
- 34:26Speaker 2: these athletes are in said event. Like in the 100-meter dash.
- 34:35Speaker 1: You know what?
- 34:35Speaker 2: Let's make it more interesting. In the 110-meter hurdles, it's
- 34:40Speaker 2: whoever the best 6, 8, 10 runners are in the
- 34:44Speaker 2: world and me. By the time they are done and
- 34:52Speaker 2: have won the race and they're all finished, I would
- 34:56Speaker 2: still be tangled and hurt in the first hurdle.
- 35:02Speaker 1: And while that would be entertaining, don't get me wrong.
- 35:05Speaker 2: That's going to be quality television, baby.
- 35:07Speaker 1: But the sad thing is, for most sports, you could
- 35:12Speaker 1: take Division I college players And then put them in,
- 35:21Speaker 1: you know, D1 hurdler, but wasn't good enough to go
- 35:25Speaker 1: pro or qualify for the Olympics. And it would be
- 35:28Speaker 1: a glaring show of the difference between what is, and
- 35:33Speaker 1: I would say a D1 player is, or D1 athlete
- 35:37Speaker 1: is elite. But then the difference between that level of
- 35:41Speaker 1: elite and Olympic elite is a monstrous gap.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:48Speaker 1: But football, you want to talk about? Take D1, undrafted
- 35:54Speaker 1: D1 guy and put them on NFL and get smoked.
- 36:02Speaker 2: That's why when I think back on Jake Paul saying
- 36:04Speaker 2: that he's going to play football.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Bitch, bitch, please.
- 36:11Speaker 2: I will say this. He has my attention. I will
- 36:13Speaker 2: watch that show, but mainly because I want to see
- 36:16Speaker 2: him get destroyed.
- 36:17Speaker 1: And he would. Did getting his jaw broken finally end
- 36:22Speaker 1: his boxing career? Because I feel like.
- 36:25Speaker 2: I think it did. I don't think there's been an
- 36:28Speaker 2: official announcement or any final word on it, but I
- 36:31Speaker 2: think the word is the rumor now is that it
- 36:34Speaker 2: pretty much has.
- 36:36Speaker 1: I mean, you can only milk that goat for so long.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Eventually the goats dry up. Yeah. Other birthdays today. All
- 36:45Speaker 2: we said was Max Verstappen is 29. Yeah. Uh, T-Pain
- 36:51Speaker 2: is 42. Lacey Chabert is 44. Very interesting career for
- 36:57Speaker 2: Lacey Chabert. Also sometimes known as Jennifer Love Hewitt, uh, two. Uh,
- 37:03Speaker 2: so Lacey Chabert was Gretchen Wieners and Mean Girls. Okay.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Before that, she was Claudia on Party of Five. Okay.
- 37:13Speaker 1: That's, it is the same. Okay.
- 37:15Speaker 2: Yeah. Uh, but she is now best known for having,
- 37:19Speaker 2: I've lost count of how many Hallmark Christmas movies she's
- 37:22Speaker 2: been in, but it is now Hallmark Christmas movie tradition
- 37:26Speaker 2: that you get at least one new Lacey Chabert film
- 37:30Speaker 2: every season. Hey, look, man, it's good. It's good. It's
- 37:34Speaker 2: good to find your gig. Don't let it go.
- 37:37Speaker 1: You know, I bet that that's a solid paycheck and, uh,
- 37:44Speaker 1: I imagine they pump those things out so quickly. I
- 37:48Speaker 1: imagine filming on a Hallmark movie is pretty quick and painless.
- 37:52Speaker 2: Yeah. Can I confess something to you, Trey?
- 37:57Speaker 1: Oh, God.
- 38:00Speaker 2: What do you think I'm going to say?
- 38:01Speaker 1: You like Hallmark movies? Eh.
- 38:05Speaker 2: My real confession is that I would love to write
- 38:10Speaker 2: and make one. Because... they're very formulaic. And I think
- 38:17Speaker 2: I could offer just enough of a twist on some
- 38:19Speaker 2: of the storylines to make it really interesting and cross
- 38:22Speaker 2: over into bringing in a newer audience to the Hallmark
- 38:26Speaker 2: Christmas movies. I think I could bring just enough of
- 38:28Speaker 2: an edge like Lacey Chabert can still be in the movie,
- 38:32Speaker 2: of course, but then I can just bring, you know, just,
- 38:34Speaker 2: a little twist of something here and there to make
- 38:36Speaker 2: it just a little more interesting, but still, but still the,
- 38:39Speaker 2: you know, the ladies in their Christmas PJs and, and
- 38:43Speaker 2: hot cocoa and stuff can still have their Hallmark Christmas movie,
- 38:47Speaker 2: but you know, just a little, just a little twinge
- 38:49Speaker 2: of diehard in there. Wouldn't, wouldn't hurt anybody.
- 38:52Speaker 1: Or the love interest is black thunder.
- 38:56Speaker 2: I didn't know you read my script. Back inside the
- 39:08Speaker 2: Treehouse now, I'm Dan O'Malley along with Trey Trenholm. If

- 39:42Speaker 2: thank you very much uh trey we need to talk
- 39:45Speaker 2: about something here okay uh How does it feel to
- 39:50Speaker 2: be kind of viral?
- 39:56Speaker 1: You know, it's interesting. So for those that don't know,
- 40:03Speaker 1: I posted it. And I want to say I posted
- 40:06Speaker 1: the video a couple of weeks ago.
- 40:08Speaker 2: You did?
- 40:09Speaker 1: I was doing yoga and my puppy Lily likes to help.
- 40:13Speaker 1: And so I've been videoing videos. my yoga because it's
- 40:18Speaker 1: kind of puppy yoga. And, um, but on this one,
- 40:22Speaker 1: I happened to let one loose and I farted on
- 40:25Speaker 1: her and it startled her and it was funny. And
- 40:29Speaker 1: for some reason, all of a sudden it, it is, it,
- 40:32Speaker 1: it's fascinating the way social media works. So that video
- 40:38Speaker 1: all of a sudden in the last four or five
- 40:41Speaker 1: days has taken off on Instagram. I think it's up
- 40:43Speaker 1: to about like 108,000 views on it on Instagram. On TikTok,
- 40:49Speaker 1: it's got like 800 views.
- 40:53Speaker 2: No one can figure out the new TikTok. Once it
- 40:57Speaker 2: was out of Chinese hands and into American-ish hands, TikTok
- 41:02Speaker 2: seems very, very different and no one seems to have
- 41:05Speaker 2: truly cracked that nut yet.
- 41:08Speaker 1: But, you know, so I have been getting, you know,
- 41:15Speaker 1: all sorts of, a bunch of new followers, which is great.
- 41:18Speaker 1: I appreciate it. And, uh, if you want to see
- 41:21Speaker 1: the video trade trend home one, or I actually posted
- 41:24Speaker 1: on the tree house account.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Um, yes.
- 41:27Speaker 1: And, uh, and also it seems that I don't know
- 41:33Speaker 1: if it's the dog or me, but, um, I've become
- 41:38Speaker 1: very popular with, with gay men. Cause I, Not only
- 41:44Speaker 1: have I gotten a bunch of new followers, but I've
- 41:45Speaker 1: gotten some messages. Most of them just, hey, how are you? Hello. Oh, yeah. Okay.
- 41:50Speaker 2: So let me get this straight. The timeline of events.
- 41:52Speaker 2: You posted a video on Instagram of you, Trey, doing yoga.
- 42:00Speaker 2: And you farted. The next thing you know, you've got
- 42:04Speaker 2: a bunch of new followers and people sliding into your DMs,
- 42:09Speaker 2: some of which are gay men.
- 42:10Speaker 1: Yes. Yes.
- 42:13Speaker 2: Why are you surprised? You're stretching on camera, on social media,
- 42:19Speaker 2: showing your flexibility, and then you sent out a mating call.
- 42:28Speaker 2: I don't know why. The only thing surprising here is
- 42:30Speaker 2: that you're surprised.
- 42:31Speaker 1: I guess, you know. am in a nice forward lunge
- 42:42Speaker 1: position when I'm doing this, but, uh, but.
- 42:47Speaker 2: Yeah, it's, uh, so you have a bunch of men
- 42:49Speaker 2: sliding into your puppy yoga, uh, video saying, I wish
- 42:53Speaker 2: I was your dog.
- 42:55Speaker 1: You know, nothing that overt, just a lot of, uh, hi,
- 42:57Speaker 1: how are you? Uh, obviously it's gone international cause I,
- 43:01Speaker 1: I'm getting, uh, messages in different languages.
- 43:04Speaker 2: Uh, a.
- 43:07Speaker 1: Couple in Spanish, uh, I think one in French and
- 43:10Speaker 1: then a couple I'm not sure about.
- 43:13Speaker 2: We'll see. So for Spanish, it would be a lot
- 43:15Speaker 2: of me gusta. And then in French, it might be
- 43:19Speaker 2: a ou je t'aime. That's about the extent of my
- 43:22Speaker 2: foreign language.
- 43:25Speaker 1: So yeah, it's a.
- 43:27Speaker 2: There's also a Florida man panhandle that might slide into
- 43:30Speaker 2: your DM.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Ha!
- 43:34Speaker 2: Not the hottest sounding man, but I'm sure he's in
- 43:36Speaker 2: great shape.
- 43:37Speaker 1: Also, that sounds like Luke. It does.
- 43:41Speaker 2: He's kind of from that Georgia, Florida panhandle area. There's
- 43:45Speaker 2: a lot of crossover.
- 43:46Speaker 1: The top of Florida is Southern Alabama.
- 43:50Speaker 2: The bottom of Georgia is the bottom of... A Florida
- 43:54Speaker 2: top or a Georgia bottom. Well, congratulations. It's great to
- 43:59Speaker 2: have new followers. It's great to have new fans. And
- 44:02Speaker 2: if we're being honest, gay, straight, Doesn't matter if you're
- 44:06Speaker 2: getting compliments. We'll take it. Right.
- 44:08Speaker 1: No, I absolutely. And I'm going to try to crank
- 44:12Speaker 1: out some more puppy yoga videos because. Oh, OK.
- 44:15Speaker 2: I thought you're just going to crank out. Yeah, because
- 44:19Speaker 2: that'll that'll be catching my eyeballs, too. Look, I mean,
- 44:23Speaker 2: like maybe it was growing up with my mom and
- 44:25Speaker 2: theater work and stuff. So I was around men of
- 44:29Speaker 2: alternate lifestyles on a pretty regular basis. And so it's
- 44:33Speaker 2: never bothered me. And I've always taken it as a
- 44:35Speaker 2: very high compliment. If a gay man finds you attractive,
- 44:41Speaker 2: that is one of the highest compliments you can ever receive.
- 44:45Speaker 1: I'm with you growing up. My mother worked in cosmetics
- 44:51Speaker 1: at different various Neiman Marcus's around town. And then she
- 44:55Speaker 1: was in real estate, which in the eighties, if you
- 44:58Speaker 1: were a realtor, you were either a, basically a woman
- 45:03Speaker 1: or a gay guy. Until men realized how much money
- 45:09Speaker 1: you could make, it was very much considered a lesser occupation.
- 45:14Speaker 1: And then all of a sudden, these women started making
- 45:16Speaker 1: a million dollars and men were like, oh, hey.
- 45:19Speaker 2: I could do that better.
- 45:21Speaker 1: But I'm with you. There was a gay guy around
- 45:26Speaker 1: the Park City who was a realtor, Ron. And Ron was...
- 45:31Speaker 1: hilarious he was so and this is late 80s early
- 45:35Speaker 1: 90s so to be out and open especially around the
- 45:39Speaker 1: park cities in Dallas it was a different time you
- 45:43Speaker 1: you had to you know and he was just someone
- 45:47Speaker 1: he most people couldn't pull it off I mean they're
- 45:49Speaker 1: they're in the closet was a far bigger thing but
- 45:53Speaker 1: he told me way back then I was in high
- 45:55Speaker 1: school he goes we know if you're straight He goes,
- 46:02Speaker 1: he's like, if a gay guy's ever, you know, he goes,
- 46:05Speaker 1: the only time a gay guy's going to hit on
- 46:08Speaker 1: a straight guy is if they just want to make
- 46:10Speaker 1: you uncomfortable. He goes, otherwise, he said exactly, he goes,
- 46:15Speaker 1: take it as a compliment, but they're, they're not looking,
- 46:18Speaker 1: you know, they know. It's like, yeah, we have gaydar.
- 46:21Speaker 1: We know.
- 46:22Speaker 2: It's a real thing. It may not be an actual device,
- 46:25Speaker 2: but it's a real thing.
- 46:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:28Speaker 2: But it really is.
- 46:30Speaker 1: Go ahead. And he also, he said what turned out
- 46:33Speaker 1: to be one of the greatest facts ever, which, again,
- 46:40Speaker 1: and this is in 19. He told me this. I
- 46:42Speaker 1: was a senior in high school. I was on my
- 46:44Speaker 1: way to college, I think. This is 92-ish. And he said,
- 46:50Speaker 1: if you knew the number of prominent Dallas men married
- 46:56Speaker 1: pillars of community that have gay lovers.
- 47:00Speaker 1: You would be shocked. And he was right.
- 47:07Speaker 2: How'd you find out that he was right?
- 47:11Speaker 1: Because over the years, they came out, they left their
- 47:13Speaker 1: wives and were involved. They came out of the closet.
- 47:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like eventually they realized this closet got kind
- 47:22Speaker 2: of small.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Well, again, and it really, it's hard to, It's really
- 47:31Speaker 1: hard to explain. I had this conversation with a Gen Z-er.
- 47:34Speaker 1: And it's really hard to explain to people, if you
- 47:36Speaker 1: didn't live through it, that what they consider oppression, they
- 47:41Speaker 1: have no idea what some of the older, especially gay lesbians,
- 47:47Speaker 1: they went through in the 80s and 90s when it
- 47:50Speaker 1: was really frowned upon. And you really were living a
- 47:54Speaker 1: closeted lifestyle. And a lot of times that meant you
- 47:56Speaker 1: were married, had kids, whatever, and were just miserable.
- 48:00Speaker 2: Yeah. And in some of those cases, it could be
- 48:04Speaker 2: physically dangerous to be out as well.
- 48:07Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 48:07Speaker 2: That's a whole other layer of it.
- 48:09Speaker 1: And you're right.
- 48:11Speaker 2: Sometimes the current generations don't always understand and therefore can't
- 48:15Speaker 2: fully appreciate the era that they're in. Because in order
- 48:20Speaker 2: for that era to happen, struggle and strife and in
- 48:24Speaker 2: some cases really bad things had to happen to get
- 48:27Speaker 2: to to the current spot.
- 48:29Speaker 1: Listen, there is a guy, Steve, gay guy, he's been
- 48:34Speaker 1: a bartender at JR's, which is a gay bar in Dallas.
- 48:38Speaker 1: And he's been, I think he's worked there since the
- 48:41Speaker 1: late 70s, early 80s.
- 48:43Speaker 2: Damn.
- 48:44Speaker 1: So, and you're working in a gay bar, you're gay
- 48:49Speaker 1: in the 70s and 80s. I mean, that's, and he's
- 48:53Speaker 1: the sweetest, nicest man ever. But you're talking about someone
- 48:55Speaker 1: who has seen it all. And his perspective, you know,
- 48:59Speaker 1: just talking to him and his perspective on things, it
- 49:01Speaker 1: was so fascinating.
- 49:05Speaker 2: And I bet he knows everyone that was in the
- 49:08Speaker 2: closet at a certain period.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Oh, everyone. And when he hears, watching him, you know,
- 49:20Speaker 1: talk about some of the things that people are bitching
- 49:25Speaker 1: about today and he's like you have no idea what
- 49:28Speaker 1: we went through.
- 49:31Speaker 2: You don't know what I know you haven't seen what
- 49:35Speaker 2: I've seen yeah Well, lucky for us, we can all
- 49:40Speaker 2: log on to Instagram or TikTok or maybe even the
- 49:43Speaker 2: Facebook and watch our very dear Trey Trinholm do puppy
- 49:47Speaker 2: yoga and fart on his dog.
- 49:58Speaker 1: Lucky you.
- 50:00Speaker 2: Yeah, lucky us. It actually is lucky that it's only
- 50:03Speaker 2: online and not actually in the room, because trust me,
- 50:06Speaker 2: I've been in the room when he did it, and
- 50:08Speaker 2: it's not a place you want to be. I fell
- 50:11Speaker 2: for Lily in that moment.
- 50:12Speaker 1: I was going to say, Dan understands why Lily ran.
- 50:14Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I do. There's a reason why we do
- 50:17Speaker 2: this show remotely. We will see you next time right here.
- 50:22Speaker 2: It's a two-way path. Trey's happy as well. Yeah. We
- 50:25Speaker 2: will see you next time right here inside the Treehouse.
- 50:31Speaker 2: Thank you.
