Firefighters Hurt in Lower East Side Blaze | New York City News
A massive fire erupted late Friday night in a 21-story Lower East Side apartment building, starting on the 17th floor and forcing FDNY to deploy 38 units and over 100 responders. Five firefighters were injured — four hospitalized with non-life-threatening wounds, one treated on scene and released. The blaze was extinguished just before midnight, with no confirmed injuries to residents. Authorities are still investigating the cause.
