- 0:00Hello, everybody. We're at it again. I am so
- 0:04glad that we're here for the One Small Change podcast.
- 0:07And I'm your host, Yvonne McCoy, and I bring over 30
- 0:11years of entrepreneurial experience and passion for
- 0:14discovering growth through the power of seemingly small
- 0:18change. And I wanna thank you for joining me again this week in this
- 0:21journey of exploration and transformation. And I'm
- 0:25gonna share, and also my guests, will share some
- 0:29smaller unexpected change that had, you know,
- 0:33a remarkable transformation in their growth, either their personal
- 0:36or professional or both. And so my guest today
- 0:40is Deepak Shaney. And I just wanna say
- 0:44this, we have had some interesting experiences
- 0:48together, but I am so glad that he's still willing to talk to
- 0:51me. So so, Deepak,
- 0:56how are you today? I'm I'm doing great. The weather is nice.
- 1:00It's sun is shining. I I'm I'm doing fantastic.
- 1:04So I want our audience
- 1:08to know what you do and what
- 1:12was, you know, and why you do it and kind of what the one small
- 1:16changes that had that unexpected
- 1:21impact on you. Yeah. Absolutely. Okay. Really
- 1:24quickly, there's a couple things I I I do. I'm kind of in definitely in
- 1:28the health space as people can see there, Deepak say need health, and we'll we'll
- 1:31get to how I got here, because that was not my first, first career.
- 1:35I tend to work with entrepreneurs, and I have 2 different offerings. And I
- 1:39won't get into too much detail, but essentially, my hand high end offering,
- 1:43for successful entrepreneurs is is for those who, you know,
- 1:47they probably are saying to themselves, I'm a little bit
- 1:50heavier than I used to be. I'm a little bit more tired than I used
- 1:54to be. I'm not having the type of fun I used to have And that
- 1:57maybe is in the bedroom or otherwise, and they're ready to make those changes
- 2:01and actually really look at their life. And how many times entrepreneurs can understand they've
- 2:05built so busy building their business that they put some of their personal life,
- 2:08including their health on the back burner, and they're conscious enough to
- 2:12make that change. So that's that's kind of one group. And then the other group
- 2:15I work with are people who are more just you know, they have they they
- 2:19realize they have limiting beliefs. They have some emotional regulation
- 2:23issues, and they wanna handle that. They wanna get rid of some of those negative
- 2:26emotions, get some of those, rid of those limiting beliefs,
- 2:29and move their life forward either in their personal life or for their, business. And,
- 2:33hey, we've all been there, and it's always a it's it's a challenge. So that's
- 2:36that's that's who I work with. But, to your to your question of
- 2:40one small change, let me just take a step backwards. My first profession,
- 2:44as I said, being in the health field is wasn't my first thing. I'm a
- 2:48CPA by first profession. I was a I was a
- 2:51accountant, in, you know, corporate finance, corporate accounting for over
- 2:5520 years. I was someone who always struggled with with my health.
- 3:00You know, Ivan, you didn't know me back then, but I was morbidly obese as
- 3:03a as a teenager, a £100 heavier than I am now. Autoimmune
- 3:07condition, my my entire life, I get chronically sick, you know,
- 3:103, 4 times a year for weeks on end. You know, you're just
- 3:14getting better, and you just think you're moving forward and get sick again. That was
- 3:17essentially me my almost my entire life. But what really was my
- 3:20turning point was, 2014. My youngest
- 3:24daughter, excuse me, was just a baby, and I hurt my back. Hurt my
- 3:28back so bad, I, couldn't bend over at the waist. I had no flexion.
- 3:32So I couldn't essentially do anything. Couldn't golf anymore. I couldn't run.
- 3:35Very painful to move. Very painful getting in and out of a chair. That
- 3:39includes the toilet. But I couldn't pick out my youngest daughter out of her crib.
- 3:43So that was my turning point in trying to heal myself and find
- 3:47the modalities to heal myself. And, I mean, we can take this line of
- 3:51thinking if you want, but, I like to say the western medical system wasted 18
- 3:55months of my health and had no answers for me. I found all you know,
- 3:59alternative means, alternative modalities, if you will, heal
- 4:02myself, and that started my transition of just thinking differently
- 4:06and what was actually available for me in in my life. And I realized
- 4:10I was thinking very, scarcity mindset, very small. And when I
- 4:14opened my mindset of what's possible for my health,
- 4:18that's what everything kind of started from changing that, and that what led me to
- 4:21doing what I'm doing today as as far as the profession. I I don't
- 4:25know that I ever shared with you that at one point I was
- 4:28£440. No. You did not share that.
- 4:32And lost a 150. Well, actually, I lost more than that, but
- 4:36I kept off a 100 and 50. And my small change
- 4:40that made that happen was that, I was gonna be a
- 4:43grandmother, and I wanted to be an active
- 4:47grandmother with my grandchild. I did not my grandmother, who I
- 4:50love dearly, I jokingly said was 5, you know, 5 by
- 4:545. She was 5 foot tall and 5 foot ground. I mean, she just, you
- 4:58know, was a little butterball of love. But I didn't
- 5:02I didn't want that to be me. And so I think, you
- 5:05know, part of the big thing that
- 5:09came out of that is we we we know how
- 5:13most of the time. We just don't have a big enough why, and that's what
- 5:17I think taps into your vision. And that is, for me, the you
- 5:21know, I had gone to doctors. I had done all kinds of stuff. I'd done
- 5:23all kinds of stuff. I'd done all kinds of diets and, you know, what have
- 5:26you. But the fact that I had
- 5:30a grandchild coming was the big why that
- 5:33I you know, the change that I needed, why it was actually important to
- 5:37do this. Yeah. Yvonne, I just thank you for sharing that. I did not know
- 5:41that for how long we've we've known each other for, like, over a year now.
- 5:43I never heard that first. So thank you for sharing that. And, 2 things I'll
- 5:47say. Number 1, yes. Many of my clients, that come to me
- 5:51for any of the work that I do is either, a, they've become grandparents
- 5:55or recently become grandparents or they've become parents, and they wanna
- 5:58like that. It's the it's a wake up call for sure. And I love that
- 6:01you said the why because, again, for me, that's what it boils down
- 6:04to was my why. I wanted to be able to be able to pick up
- 6:07my youngest daughter and and and and be active with my older daughter. You know,
- 6:11I'm the I'm the kind type of dad, you know, at least when they were
- 6:13younger, they're they're too big now. But, you know, who'd, you know, throw the
- 6:17kids up in the air and spin them around and all these kind of things.
- 6:20I'm like, I couldn't do that anymore. So so my why
- 6:24at at that time was just to, like, be able to do those things again.
- 6:28And now my why to this day is basically the same, essentially the same. It's
- 6:31like, I remember how crummy life was. That was 10 years ago. I remember
- 6:35how crummy life was when I couldn't move and do those things, and I never
- 6:38wanna go back there. So all my personal practices for my own
- 6:42health line of in in that fashion. And, again, that's the first thing
- 6:45I talk with my clients regardless of what they're coming to me for or how
- 6:49we're working together is, like, what is your why? Mhmm. Why do you wanna
- 6:52make this change? So I love I love that you brought that up. Yeah. And
- 6:55and I think part of that has to do I think the other piece that
- 6:59was really important for me was that I
- 7:03needed to find I I I one of the misconceptions that I find
- 7:06all the time is that or at least that I had was I had a
- 7:10purse a a professional persona, and I had a
- 7:14personal persona. And what I've discovered is
- 7:18when you come up with philosophies or whatever you're
- 7:21doing and you can incorporate in them into both,
- 7:26you are so more you're so much more relaxed because there's just
- 7:30one one you. Right? And not only
- 7:33that, it reinforces itself in a lot of
- 7:37different ways. And so for me, what the one of the weird exercises that I
- 7:40came up with, mental exercises, was I said, when did I
- 7:44when did I feel like I was at my best? And it was I was
- 7:4721, and I came up with 3 words. But but the most
- 7:50powerful one was from a friend of mine who knew me when then, and
- 7:54she said you were the most adventurous person I'd ever met.
- 7:58And at £440, just going up and down the stairs
- 8:02was, like, there was no adventure. There was no sponsorship.
- 8:06And so everything after that, I would say both in my
- 8:10work and my personal, how can I make this adventuresome? How can I
- 8:14make this, you know, my husband said I was the most intriguing woman
- 8:18he'd ever met? So it was kind of like, I was writing these really dull
- 8:21reports, and it was like, how can I put something kinda quirky in
- 8:25it and intriguing? And I'm sure they edited it out,
- 8:29but it made me feel good. And so
- 8:32that's, you know, it kinda combined what I was looking to
- 8:36achieve in my personal life along with my business life.
- 8:40So that I was living it, you know, 247 in
- 8:44in, you know, all parts of it. Yeah. We
- 8:48we have to live our truth regard regardless, you know, we have to live our
- 8:51truth. We can't be living a persona or what have you. And if we
- 8:55and if we do and sometimes for a short period or whatever the purpose, in
- 8:58the end, it's not sustainable, and, eventually, it'll bite us in the butt.
- 9:02So the the question my audience is predominantly
- 9:05predominantly entrepreneurial women. And so one of
- 9:09the things that I'd like to find out from you is
- 9:14as you went into these different modalities,
- 9:19what were some of the things that you found that
- 9:23surprised you or that helped you a lot?
- 9:27Yeah. Great question. Like you said earlier, Yvonne, you
- 9:31said something to the fact of, like, I knew what to do. We all
- 9:34know what to do from a conceptual
- 9:38level. I'm I'm gonna I'm gonna answer this a little bit
- 9:42in 2 ways in 2 different aspects to give a complete
- 9:46answer. So from a from a from a physical kinda
- 9:49health point of view, yes, we all know what to do. But, again,
- 9:53tying it to your why, as we just discussed, you
- 9:57know, what's what's truly important? What's gonna sustain us when, you know,
- 10:01that it becomes hard to make that this that decision. Right? That's putting down that
- 10:04second glass of wine or passing on that cake or whatever the case
- 10:08may be in in that in that sense. So really, really tied to that. But
- 10:12also it's like there's no one size fits all. There's no one perfect diet
- 10:15for everyone or nutrition plan or exercise plan or whatever. It's
- 10:19really getting to that nuance. Again, with my with my clients,
- 10:23I you know, we're really
- 10:27I'm really big proponent of of testing and not that testing is the be all
- 10:30end all, but, you know, it's it's having, you know, your genetic
- 10:34markers, your microbiome, having your metabolics,
- 10:37blood work, etcetera, tying that to your lifestyle goals,
- 10:41your ethnicity, your cultural norms,
- 10:45your family's dynamics, etcetera, and tying all these,
- 10:48together. That's that's the secret sauce because it just can't be, like, do this or
- 10:52do that if that doesn't resonate or from a epigenetical point
- 10:56of view is not it'll it will never work because it it's not a it's
- 10:59not a a line for you. So that's that's one because that's kind of the
- 11:02physical. The other part is actually the inner game, if you'll, which
- 11:06is what I'm really leaning into more so now. And, you
- 11:10know, not only from my my with my clients, but also myself, and I'm continues
- 11:13to do this work on myself because, hey, no one's perfect. Deepak's really not
- 11:17perfect. Is, you know, what are the limiting beliefs? You know,
- 11:21what are the things holding me back? What are some of the emotional
- 11:24regulation things while much approved or not not perfect? Not and then not that they
- 11:27ever will be perfect. And I and I like to say this as well, regardless
- 11:31of where you are on your journey and how and and your success level, and
- 11:34and success can be defined many different ways. Right? And our personal relationships can be
- 11:38money in our businesses, etcetera.
- 11:42And, Yvonne, we know some of these same people or who we would both consider,
- 11:45you know, like, oh, they're so much more successful. I aspire to be them when
- 11:48they hey. They all have limiting beliefs themselves.
- 11:52Sometimes they're the same things we struggle with or this or the scale is different.
- 11:56It but everyone has them. So this I think these are things we continuously need
- 11:59to work on. And what I find, the more I I'm steeped in this community
- 12:03and the more I work with entrepreneurs, the more it actually comes up. It's that
- 12:06inner game that's actually holding them back. It's the limiting beliefs. It's the
- 12:10emotional regulation, trauma, even past traumas,
- 12:14and that type of thing. So that's been a I I don't wanna say a
- 12:17wake up call because we intuitively all know this, but now that I do more
- 12:20of this work and I work more and more with people, You know, I
- 12:24I'm I'm working I was working with someone this morning. We talked about in, you
- 12:28know, their procrastination. I know what I need to do to build my business. I
- 12:32know I need to make the phone calls. I'm just stuck. So it's okay. Well,
- 12:35let's break this. Let's break it and get you from procrastination to motivation.
- 12:39Well, the thing I you know, one of the things that I say to people
- 12:42is it's progress, not, you know,
- 12:46perfection. It's kinda like peeling the onion. And and every
- 12:49time you get a little bit better, you hear different things. You may have
- 12:53I mean, I just somebody that I did for another podcast, they
- 12:57said something on the podcast that I'm sure they've said to me for the last
- 13:00year. And I finally went, oh my god. Is
- 13:04this is this is what you've been talking about? And I think
- 13:08the other thing is you're absolutely right. I mean, I think, you know,
- 13:12what I see so often is people
- 13:16and whether it has to do with food or whether it has to do with
- 13:19their business in a program, they try to follow a guru,
- 13:23you know, and follow the steps. But what I say is you need
- 13:27situational awareness. You need to feel confident enough that you
- 13:31can adjust and tweak and make it work for you.
- 13:35Do you know? And so one of the the weird things that has just
- 13:38happened is I made a big push
- 13:42to get my cholesterol down. It wasn't bad, but my husband's was a little bad,
- 13:46and we went to more plant based eating. And so I
- 13:50just got a call from my doctor that my iron is really low
- 13:54because we'd given up a lot of meat. We haven't adjusted accordingly.
- 13:57And it's like, it was never real high to
- 14:01begin with when, you know but I said to my husband, I think that's
- 14:04probably why the last couple weeks I've been saying, I really want you to cook
- 14:08some meat. I really want some meat.
- 14:12And so Your your body will send you the signal. Will sending me the signal.
- 14:15And it you know, it's kind of like it's, you know, the making those
- 14:19adjustments. And the other weird thing is, you know,
- 14:23I used to when I first lost my first £100, I did a lot of
- 14:26health coaching. And, you know, people are like, I have to give up
- 14:30this and I have to and I'm like, no. You you know, make a decision
- 14:34about something you can live with. You know? I
- 14:37mean, I could not give up chocolate or coffee for the rest of my life.
- 14:41I mean, it maybe, but not a you know?
- 14:44And the weird thing is I have found this brownie that I
- 14:48that I make that's high in fiber and
- 14:52it's got walnuts in it and has chi chia seeds
- 14:56and oatmeal and stuff like that. And I have it every night
- 14:59and it does not spike my blood sugar. I mean, when I talked to my
- 15:03endocrinologist, he was like I said, I eat it between 8 and
- 15:079 every night. He goes, your blood sugar looks fine.
- 15:10And my, you know, my a one c has been going down, and I don't
- 15:14crave the other junk food. It's like, you know, I've
- 15:17got my brownie every night. You know. And so it
- 15:21seems counterintuitive, you know, I don't have a whole sheet
- 15:25cake. I have a little dish, you know, but it seems counterintuitive,
- 15:29but it works for me mentally and physically, you know,
- 15:32because I've adapted it. I tried it once with bananas, you know,
- 15:36because I need potassium and that just made my sugar go up. And
- 15:40so you you have to be able to be your own advocate, and I think
- 15:44that's what we've kind of lost. And I and and to tie this back
- 15:47just in general, it comes from my explanation
- 15:51of us coming out of an industrial society because
- 15:55our educational society teaches
- 15:59you not to be creative and think out of the box. It teaches you to
- 16:02follow instructions and be a follower. And
- 16:06so now we're in the Absolutely. Now we're in the information
- 16:10society, and we have lots of information, but we don't know how to
- 16:13filter it or to implement it. Yeah. You may have key point there. There's
- 16:17so many things you just said there, Yvonne. So, yeah, the last last point,
- 16:21filter. That's the most important thing. Filter the information.
- 16:24Again, that's why it's good to listen to
- 16:28many viewpoints and not just listen to 1 channel or 1 guru
- 16:32or 1 coach and, you know, just again using myself. You know, I've
- 16:35I've multiple coaches that I work with for different things. And and and even in
- 16:39those specific realms, I look at
- 16:43various, opinions as well, and I can bring that to the person that I'm actually
- 16:46paying to to work with me for whatever that the case may be. And you're
- 16:50absolutely right. The the the education system or the system in
- 16:53general is meant to good worker bees who worked in factories in the 19 forties
- 16:57fifties. We don't live in that age anymore. Exactly, like you said. And
- 17:01I and I love, you know, you know, back to your your brownie examples. Like,
- 17:04there's no one size fits all for someone. Right? Like, just
- 17:07one ingredient in your brownie could be the thing that spikes them. It doesn't spike
- 17:11for you. Awesome. Amazing. They found the thing. For somebody else, they totally could be
- 17:14something that spikes their blood sugar or causes them inflammation, or or
- 17:18what have you. Right? So we gotta we gotta, you know, figure all these things
- 17:21out again. It's highly individualized. There's no one size fits all.
- 17:26And and I guess back to my last point to that, something you brought came
- 17:28to mind earlier, and I I don't wanna interrupt you. That's why I'm a big
- 17:32fan of, like, going back to a book. You know, every maybe 2 or 3
- 17:36years later and reading the same book again, even though you might have your highlights
- 17:40and flags and whatever someone does, or at least that's what I do,
- 17:43you're in a different place. You're a different person now, and the way you
- 17:47think and the questions you ask yourself are different. And now you're
- 17:51like, oh, now I really understand what the author is saying, or maybe
- 17:55not. It's just like, oh, I have a different perspective of what they're saying now,
- 17:57and something different come up. So, you know, you can see behind me, you got
- 18:00all these books and even the top shelf you can't see, you know, that I
- 18:03and I just periodically, you know, every couple years go back to them again and
- 18:06just get new things. Well, that's that that's my thing where I say, every
- 18:10once in a while, you just need to go back to basics. Go back to
- 18:13where you started. Right? And take a look and
- 18:17see what your frame of mind was and and and
- 18:20and and it's funny because one time I made a list of every all
- 18:24the tools that I had created, and I had, like, a list of about
- 18:2836. And when I went back and I looked at them, some of the
- 18:31ones that I did in the beginning were the best
- 18:35because they weren't, you know, they were very simple and it's like, I
- 18:39can add to this. I can now see why this
- 18:43works, you know, because I'm smarter, and I can I can add to
- 18:46it? And it's funny because I go back and I go, boy, that was
- 18:50good. This makes so much sense. I'm gonna start
- 18:54using this again because you're bringing more you know, you started with a
- 18:58certain perspective, a certain I wanna say it
- 19:01it was kind of an uncluttered perspective before you
- 19:05got so involved in other people. It was really yours.
- 19:09And now you have other things that you can bring with it. So it you
- 19:13know, when you go back to the basics and you enhance it, it's even better
- 19:17than it was before. So I absolutely agree with you
- 19:21on that. And I think,
- 19:25the industrial mindset, unfortunately,
- 19:29I think has a lot to do with
- 19:35our limiting beliefs. You know, you
- 19:39know, I one of the examples I always use
- 19:42is, you know, for a long time, even now, I don't think
- 19:46anybody in my family knows what I do. They don't quite understand what Yeah. I
- 19:49don't think they know what I do either. My family. Don't worry don't worry about
- 19:52it, Yvonne. And and and so forever my mom would say, you know,
- 19:55because I have a Wharton MBA and and, you know, so her thing is why
- 19:59don't you just get a job? You know, because that's the
- 20:03industrial way. You go and you get education and you get a job and you
- 20:06work there. It you know, it used to be that you worked for 30 years,
- 20:09but now you don't. And so, you know, even if if you do
- 20:13get a job, part of your responsibility for
- 20:17yourself is to educate yourself as much as you can from what's
- 20:20available at that job. So when, for whatever reason, you
- 20:24have to leave, you've got a better product in yourself.
- 20:28Do you know? And and and, you know, because those skills are
- 20:32portable. But, but I think the mindset is
- 20:36I have to do it this way. Nobody wants to hear what I have to
- 20:40say or, you know, it's not my job or it's
- 20:43outside my role kind of thing. And I and I and I see that
- 20:47all the time because it it's like
- 20:51it's it's like somebody grinds away the thing that makes
- 20:55you unique, You know? You started out with this wonderful
- 20:59individuality, and when you're finished, you're just a little round pebble.
- 21:02Yeah. I mean, it starts with our school system. Right? Like, there's
- 21:06no 5, 7 year olds who are stressed
- 21:09out and blah blah blah. No imagination. No
- 21:13creativity. Right? Like, we beat it out of people. Don't
- 21:16sit at your desk. Don't move. Start start the wall.
- 21:20Lines. Color Color in the lines. Yeah. Exactly. You know, the grass
- 21:24is always green. You know? I mean, that was what my remember my mom saying
- 21:28to me. You know? The grass can't be purple, but, you know,
- 21:33those kinds of things. Alright. But before we run out of time, can you give
- 21:36us a couple action steps that can help us that people can
- 21:40actually start using? Yeah. Absolutely. Absolutely.
- 21:44So a a couple things here. So, maybe just go let me go a little
- 21:47bit meta and then kind of burp boil it down to some action stuff. So
- 21:51I guess the number one is I'm a big proponent
- 21:56with my clients or otherwise and certainly for myself is just, like, really, really
- 22:00focusing on what is true what do we truly want and
- 22:03what is maybe truly missing. So maybe that's doing we need to
- 22:07do some inner game work. Again, we're talking to entrepreneurs primarily here,
- 22:11and, you know, there's tons of tactics and marketing and all this stuff. But if
- 22:14you have limiting beliefs, none of that's gonna make a difference. Yeah. But yeah.
- 22:18No. I shouldn't say that. You're gonna you're gonna make some progress, but you can
- 22:20make so much more progress if you, you know, had your inner game in
- 22:24check. So, you know, whatever that is for you is really be aware of
- 22:28of of that at a at a high level, at a meta level, and then
- 22:31kinda work your way down. I'm a huge proponent of, like,
- 22:35you know, doing certain things to just, like, reset ourselves. So maybe that's
- 22:39taking a breath. Maybe that's meditation. Certainly
- 22:42doing some exercise. You're feeling struggling with a problem? Go
- 22:46outside in nature and go for a walk. Trust me. The the solution will probably
- 22:50come to you. Just do basic things. And if you can do these
- 22:54basic things, so much of
- 22:57our anxieties and our tensions and our conflicts will just melt away.
- 23:01And, yeah, there's gonna be other other stuff, and we gotta do some more advanced,
- 23:05things. But just do do the basics.
- 23:09Clean water, clean air, eat healthy,
- 23:12move a little bit, get out in the sunshine, and just
- 23:16learn to breathe properly, meditate if if you want to or
- 23:20Tai Chi or whatever is your thing, and have your
- 23:24problems resolved right there. And and you know what?
- 23:27I I think what people need to understand is
- 23:31there are things in each of those that you can do. So for
- 23:34instance, you know, I admit that I have some
- 23:38mobility issues. But, you know, if I go online,
- 23:42I I have a 10 minute Tai Chi seated Tai Chi that I can do.
- 23:46That's great because if I have, like, 20 minutes before the next
- 23:50call, I can slip that in. Do you know? I mean, that was the one
- 23:53thing that I learned was to have a variety. If you say you're gonna exercise,
- 23:57have a variety of ways that you can do that. So if it rains, you
- 24:00go, I can't go outside because it's raining. Well, you've got something else you can
- 24:03do, you know, or you can buy a raincoat, which is what I did when
- 24:06I got a dog. The dog still had to go out, and I and I
- 24:09used to say that was my exercise thing. So, Having
- 24:13a dog is a great exercise motivator because you have to get outside. And even
- 24:17if it's a slow pace and only 5 minutes, you're still
- 24:20moving. And you cannot hang your clothes on it. That's
- 24:24the other that's the other thing that's really important. That's been my experience. They don't
- 24:28like when you drape your clothes on top of your dog. That's right. The last
- 24:32thing is, what's the freebie? What's the gift you're
- 24:35gonna give us? Yeah. Absolutely. So it you know, kind of to my
- 24:39my last point there, it's it's a guide, for the
- 24:43successful entrepreneur. 7 7, action steps,
- 24:47that you can take. And so at the beginning, just to kinda read read about
- 24:50them and why why they're beneficial, not only to your health, but also
- 24:54to your business. And then at the end of it is 30 days of
- 24:57tracking. So of these habit changes or habits we wanna implement. So
- 25:01now I'm gonna be perfectly clear. Do not try all 7 at once. You
- 25:05are just you're setting yourself up a failure. Choose 1, maybe 2.
- 25:09No more than 2 at a time. Choose 1 or 2.
- 25:13Track it for 30 days. If it resonates with you, great. Keep doing that. You
- 25:16built a new habit. If it doesn't, that's fine too. Go back to the beginning,
- 25:19pick another one. And at the end of some period of time, of those 7,
- 25:23maybe there's a handful, maybe there's all 7, you picked up a new healthy habit
- 25:26for you that you can incorporate, into your life.
- 25:30Fantastic. I I absolutely believe in trackers. I don't know what your
- 25:34tracker looks like, but I have to tell you, and this is another
- 25:38thing about picking something that works for you. I am not a journaler. I don't
- 25:42want a food journal. You know, it's kind of like I know what I ate,
- 25:45and I don't wanna write it down. And the other part is it
- 25:49if I if there's a lesson I learned, I don't know how to find it
- 25:52in a journal. So I have a tracker too that
- 25:56I will share with you a different time. So here's the here's the
- 25:59the question. Here's the the teaser. When was the last time
- 26:03that you did something new for the first time?
- 26:07When was the last time I did something new for the first
- 26:14time? Great question. Let me think.
- 26:20Last Thursday. Last
- 26:24Thursday, I did I did I did something something new. Yeah.
- 26:28Do you wanna share? You wanna share. Yes. Absolutely.
- 26:32I'm a huge proponent of
- 26:37and I think there's there's great research coming out of many places at John Hopkins
- 26:40and and others as well of using the right the
- 26:44right psychedelic medicine in the right dose for the right
- 26:47intention and purpose. And I wanna be very clear about this right intention,
- 26:51purpose dose. I had the opportunity,
- 26:55last Thursday to try 1,
- 26:59psychedelic medicine that I had never tried before,
- 27:03in in, again, the right setting in in a heart heart opening,
- 27:07heart centered way in a in a in a in a mastermind,
- 27:11setting. And, Yeah. I did I was not expecting that.
- 27:15That was not on on agenda, so to speak, but it it was
- 27:19offered and and and and it made sense. So I I I tried it, and,
- 27:23yeah, it was it was fine. It was there was a little bit
- 27:26of a, a carry forward for a couple couple days, which was
- 27:30maybe not the best, but, totally open to open to trying. Because, again, I'm I'm
- 27:34a bit of a self experimenter, and I totally believe in the work you can
- 27:37do in p s, PTSD and and other things like that.
- 27:41So if these are things and, again, I don't I don't do that myself, obviously.
- 27:45But if I'm going to recommend that to a client,
- 27:50you know, with the right person and the right professional, etcetera, I wanna be able
- 27:54to share my experience. I don't like I'm not gonna test every single thing out
- 27:57there. But but, you know, I I I want I wanna be able to have
- 28:00that, experience that I can personal experience that I can relay with my
- 28:03clients if I feel that's gonna serve them, in the best way. So, yeah,
- 28:07that's that's something new that I tried. So that that really is something new.
- 28:11So thank you for sharing that with us. So,
- 28:14I just wanna make sure that everybody knows. I I I kinda
- 28:18hate to wind this up because I realized that we have ground that
- 28:22we've never explored. So we probably could go on
- 28:25talking for quite a while. But this is only a 30 minute
- 28:29show, and so I have a couple of things that I need to make sure
- 28:32that I say, and that is be sure you subscribe and share,
- 28:37and, you know, tell people about the podcast. I would love it. It's it's my
- 28:41way of trying to give back to the community and, you know,
- 28:44fueling your quest for growth and impact. And you can always,
- 28:48join me for the One Small Change podcast, every week, which comes
- 28:52out on Friday. So the last
- 28:56thing is if you had, you know, like, last words of
- 28:59wisdom to share with everybody, what would it be?
- 29:06I would say if you really
- 29:10take a moment and reflect upon yourself,
- 29:15you'll probably find that there's something that's you feel is missing
- 29:19or lacking, could be in your health, physical
- 29:23health, could be in your mental health, emotional health, whatever the case may
- 29:26be. Take one step. Take one small step.
- 29:30Doesn't matter what it is. Doesn't matter what it is. Take one positive step
- 29:35and try something out and just incrementally work on whatever your
- 29:39whatever is it is for you, and I think that's all. Don't don't
- 29:42grandeur of I need to lose a £100. Just lose 5.
- 29:47Or I need to run a marathon, get off the couch.
- 29:50What whatever whatever the the the the case is, for
- 29:54you, just take one small step, and I think that's those habits
- 29:58and those small steps build on each other. And I think then over the long
- 30:01term, where we are in our grander. So, yeah, just take
- 30:05one small step. I absolutely
- 30:09believe in that. You know, if you know, I often say
- 30:13if you keep doing what you're doing, you're gonna keep getting what you got. So,
- 30:18guys, this has been fantastic. I hope everybody got as
- 30:21much out of this as I did. And I want you to remember that change
- 30:25can be simple, but it isn't always easy. And it does require a
- 30:28certain amount of courage and resilience and a
- 30:32willing willingness I have lip lock today,
- 30:36and a willingness to step outside your comfort zone. So I hope you will
- 30:40join me again for one small change and see what innovative possibilities
- 30:44you can come up with. And until then, stay curious.
- 30:48This is Yvonne McCoy. Join us next week. Bye.
- 30:52Bye, everyone.
