- 0:37Dayna Roselli: And what can you do with the kids if you visit?
- 0:39Dayna Roselli: We have some options.
- 0:41Sean McAllister: That and a bunch more this week on Vegas Revealed.
- 0:44Dayna Roselli: Let's spin that wheel.
- 0:53Sean McAllister: Welcome to Vegas.
- 0:54Sean McAllister: Revealed Sean McAllister here, along with Dayna Roselli, and you know the holidays are approaching, but still we're having some pomp and circumstance surrounding Super Bowl 58, which is coming up February 11th in the new year over at Allegiant Stadium.
- 1:12Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and by the way, go Raiders Two recent wins.
- 1:15Sean McAllister: I love it.
- 1:16Dayna Roselli: We're in the heart of football season but you're right, we're ramping up for the Super Bowl and I know a lot of people are excited that Usher was announced as the half time performance.
- 1:24Dayna Roselli: We're excited because Usher actually has a show here in Las Vegas, so it's very fitting.
- 1:29Dayna Roselli: You and I have both been to the show and you know he's great.
- 1:33Dayna Roselli: People love him and I think a lot of people are really looking forward to this.
- 1:36Dayna Roselli: And I thought it was kind of cool because this week Las Vegas honored Usher right here at the City Council Chambers.
- 1:43Sean McAllister: Yeah, the City of Las Vegas and Mayor Carolyn Goodman honored and celebrated Usher for not only what he's done with having a residency here in Las Vegas and performing at the upcoming Super Bowl, but also for the foundation work that he's done to help the youth here in Las Vegas.
- 2:03Sean McAllister: He has a foundation called the New Look Foundation that really encourages high school students to tap into their passions and then use that passion to go on to higher education.
- 2:14Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and I'm not sure if a lot of people know that you know, and I love when I think everyone always in our local community loves when a lot of these headliners do things for our community, bring you know their influence into the community and help, whether it's, you know, any type of social issue.
- 2:30Dayna Roselli: Of course, obviously when it has to do with kids, that's always wonderful too.
- 2:33Dayna Roselli: So it was great that they did celebrate and honor Usher.
- 2:37Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: We were there when it all went down this is a bejeweled key to the City of Las Vegas given to this beautiful man.
- 2:49Dayna Roselli: You have a very unique situation here.
- 2:51Dayna Roselli: I mean, you have a headlining show and then you're going to go headline that the halftime performance for the Super Bowl down the road.
- 2:59Dayna Roselli: I can only imagine that you recognize how unique and how special that is and this is something you've been dreaming up your whole life.
- 3:06Dayna Roselli: Again, it's another first that's got to be pretty exciting.
- 3:11Usher: Yeah, I mean it's a bucket list for every artist.
- 3:14Usher: You know it probably should be up there with the E Got you know what I'm saying To play the Super Bowl, the Speegot, I don't know if you call it, but I'm saying I do think that every artist has a dream to play that stage, and so fortunate again to have been able to place his belief in this place and then be gratified with the opportunity to play the stage that I always wanted to play in the place that I believed would get me there.
- 3:47Usher: There's such history here so I'm very mindful of where I'm playing and as I've now been able to contribute to the, to the rich history of the city you know whether it was O Blue Eyes or was Elvis or Michael or any of them, or you know Celine Dion ushers up there with them.
- 4:06Usher: So I definitely will be representing Vegas just as much Elton John I don't want to leave him out or or Mariah Carey she's going to be mad at me if I do, but I definitely am going to put on the show for Vegas with Vegas in mind.
- 4:20Usher: I've been a man of collaboration, which is part of the reason that I could say I'm as successful as I have been both in creating music that the world sings and also two moments that the world remembers.
- 4:32Usher: I'm hoping that I can relight the fire that all of it has come from and maybe invite some of those people to join me in that incredible moment.
- 4:42Usher: Can't give you too much because I don't want to blow it, but I will say that that moment will not only represent me, but it will represent my legacy and the things that I've been a part of in collaboration, reminding the world that when you do collaborate, something amazing does happen.
- 5:01Dayna Roselli: Congratulations to usher.
- 5:02Dayna Roselli: That was a lot of fun.
- 5:03Dayna Roselli: Usually don't get close to usher, you know he's, he's, he's an A-lister.
- 5:08Sean McAllister: I mean he's a big deal.
- 5:08Sean McAllister: He is a big deal he is.
- 5:10Sean McAllister: So it was a different kind of usher experience than you would get over it at Park MGM with the usher Bucks.
- 5:15Sean McAllister: Yeah, fallen from the sky, you know.
- 5:17Dayna Roselli: Exactly Looking forward to his halftime performance here in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium.
- 5:22Dayna Roselli: Can't wait.
- 5:23Sean McAllister: Well, speaking of, you know, Bucks falling from the sky and maybe being stuffed into some waistlines.
- 5:30Sean McAllister: You, Dana.
- 5:31Sean McAllister: We're just over at Magic Mike Live at Sahara, and this is a show that's been here in Las Vegas for for a bit now, for a few years, but Sahara is a new venue for the show.
- 5:44Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's newer.
- 5:45Dayna Roselli: It's been there for a little bit but I haven't had the chance to get over there and see the kind of new theater, the newer show and all that.
- 5:52Dayna Roselli: So I was excited to get over there.
- 5:53Dayna Roselli: And when you say about the bucks and stuff, you do get your Magic Mike bucks too.
- 5:56Dayna Roselli: I love it, and so you get it.
- 5:58Dayna Roselli: They're on your table when you sit.
- 5:59Dayna Roselli: A few things.
- 6:01Dayna Roselli: First of all, I wanted to mention that I went to the Noodle Den for dinner before Magic Mike Live at Sahara, loved it.
- 6:06Dayna Roselli: I hadn't been there either.
- 6:08Dayna Roselli: It was delicious.
- 6:09Dayna Roselli: The noodles were out of this world, the dumplings were amazing.
- 6:12Dayna Roselli: So went there to eat before I went up to Magic Mike Live, which is on the second floor of this Sahara.
- 6:17Dayna Roselli: I've also never been upstairs up the escalator to this area.
- 6:21Dayna Roselli: They actually made it just for this show.
- 6:24Sean McAllister: I don't think I've ever been up there either.
- 6:27Dayna Roselli: No, and I forget I was talking to someone.
- 6:29Dayna Roselli: I think it used to be maybe convention space or a ballroom or something like that.
- 6:33Dayna Roselli: I'm not sure, but it was great.
- 6:34Dayna Roselli: You go up the escalator and it's great.
- 6:37Dayna Roselli: Once you enter the theater, they actually have a lobby that has a bar where you can grab a drink ahead of time.
- 6:42Dayna Roselli: So that's kind of where the experience starts.
- 6:44Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 6:45Dayna Roselli: The theater was full Tons of groups of ladies, some men there too.
- 6:49Dayna Roselli: It was a great vibe and this was a Thursday night, so I was happy to see the turnout.
- 6:54Dayna Roselli: The show was great.
- 6:55Dayna Roselli: Listen, the guys in Magic Mike Live are excellent dancers.
- 6:58Dayna Roselli: They recruit people from all over the world for this show.
- 7:02Dayna Roselli: It's a big deal and a lot of people say, well.
- 7:04Dayna Roselli: Sometimes you'll say, well, I don't want to go see that, oh, it's not my thing, and it's like you know what?
- 7:09Dayna Roselli: Here's the deal.
- 7:09Dayna Roselli: It's actually a really good show.
- 7:11Dayna Roselli: There is actually a host, a woman, and she's a lot of fun, and there's a story to be told, the whole story of Magic Mike.
- 7:18Dayna Roselli: There's a character who's Magic Mike, who never really has been a really good dancer.
- 7:24Dayna Roselli: And then they have the whole cast of other men with them and they come out and I'm gonna show some video now.
- 7:30Dayna Roselli: If you're watching the YouTube podcast and you can see they're in full suits and all this, and then the clothes eventually comes off and there's a lot of great numbers.
- 7:40Dayna Roselli: I loved, sean, seeing everyone have such a good time.
- 7:43Dayna Roselli: They really let loose and it always is such a reminder of like.
- 7:46Dayna Roselli: This is just part of what Vegas is about.
- 7:49Dayna Roselli: It's a perfect fit for Las Vegas.
- 7:53Dayna Roselli: I love that we have Thunder from Down Under, chip and Dows, magic Mike Live, I mean all these different kinds of variations of male review shows, and ladies have options and men have options to go and let loose and just have a great Vegas night out.
- 8:07Sean McAllister: Well, in each one of these male review shows has a different vibe, a different feel from any of the other ones.
- 8:15Sean McAllister: So if you go see Magic Mike Live, it's gonna be a different experience.
- 8:19Sean McAllister: And if you go see Chip and Dows or Thunder.
- 8:22Dayna Roselli: It's so true, so true.
- 8:23Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 8:24Dayna Roselli: It's a theater, kind of in the round which is cool and it looks like it's cool.
- 8:29Dayna Roselli: I mean it looks.
- 8:29Dayna Roselli: It's just.
- 8:31Dayna Roselli: The theater is wonderful.
- 8:32Dayna Roselli: You'll see it in some of the videos and I'm gonna put some on our social too.
- 8:35Dayna Roselli: It's hard to describe, but it's much more than just like seats and a stage, so it's cool.
- 8:40Dayna Roselli: It's a different kind of experience.
- 8:41Dayna Roselli: I think you and I always talk about those theaters in the round are great because everyone has a good seat and that's what's wonderful.
- 8:48Dayna Roselli: They have a great cocktail list there, a lot of fun, and they have servers while the show's going on.
- 8:53Dayna Roselli: I enjoyed that too, because some shows don't have that.
- 8:56Sean McAllister: That's the truth.
- 8:57Sean McAllister: It's nice to have a server.
- 8:59Dayna Roselli: Yeah, you can keep getting your drink on if you want.
- 9:00Dayna Roselli: So that was my experience at Magic Mic Live.
- 9:03Dayna Roselli: Go see them over at the Sahara.
- 9:05Dayna Roselli: A great show.
- 9:06Dayna Roselli: I really do recommend it.
- 9:07Dayna Roselli: It was a lot of fun.
- 9:08Sean McAllister: So that's an experience a stripped experience but there was also recently an un-stripped experience in downtown Las Vegas, and this had nothing to do with a mail review or anything like that.
- 9:23Sean McAllister: This is all about celebrating the culinary scene off the Las Vegas strip.
- 9:31Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so un-stripped, so it's called Vegas Un-stripped and it's basically a celebration and a gathering of all of our local restaurants and the wonderful chefs that we have here in Las Vegas off the strip.
- 9:44Dayna Roselli: I had never been before.
- 9:45Dayna Roselli: I was excited to go.
- 9:46Dayna Roselli: I went and it was great.
- 9:48Dayna Roselli: You know what you pay one fee and you go in and you can eat and drink as much as you want, because they have all these different booths that all the restaurants are set up and they offer one or two things that they choose, and so you're stopping and you're having tacos at one spot and pizza from another, and maybe you're trying someone's bread, the focaccia that they bake fresh at the restaurant.
- 10:09Dayna Roselli: So it was really great.
- 10:12Dayna Roselli: Different kinds of wines.
- 10:13Dayna Roselli: What they do there is they make sure that the chef of the restaurant is there at the booth, so you can't even set up unless the chef is gonna be there.
- 10:24Dayna Roselli: So you're meeting the James trees and you're seeing the chefs in person, which is wonderful.
- 10:29Dayna Roselli: So it's a great experience to talk to them and basically get to know some of these local restaurants that are off the strip.
- 10:34Dayna Roselli: I had a blast.
- 10:35Sean McAllister: Well, and for people who are out of town, you might not realize, you know, obviously on the Las Vegas strip you have restaurants by Gordon Ramsay, jada De Laurenti's, wolfgang Puck, but once you go off the strip, downtown and even, you know, in Chinatown, really all over Las, in Green Valley and Summerlin, there are some really incredible chefs and really incredible restaurants once you step just outside of the resort corridor as well, and I love that this event celebrates that.
- 11:11Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and I was talking with someone there and they were saying you know what, like, a lot of times, you know, the strip restaurants get all the publicity and that's true.
- 11:18Dayna Roselli: You know we're the entertainment capital of the world.
- 11:21Dayna Roselli: We are known for the Las Vegas strip and our hotels and casinos and our wonderful restaurants.
- 11:26Dayna Roselli: But it is true, sometimes, you know, the off strip restaurants don't get as much publicity out there in magazines and podcasts and on blogs and on television, local news.
- 11:38Dayna Roselli: So it was a chance for people to get to know some of those restaurants.
- 11:41Dayna Roselli: I discovered a new place that I feel like I will travel to and it's in Green Valley, which is, you know, not super close to me and I don't think of to go eat there.
- 11:51Dayna Roselli: But we were talking to the chef and he was saying I think they got and don't quote me on this like voted like best taco or something like that by Yelp or one of made the list of the top whatever 100.
- 12:00Dayna Roselli: I think they were in like the top 25.
- 12:03Dayna Roselli: So I'm like it was delicious, and the person next to us was saying the same thing and I was like this is really good.
- 12:09Dayna Roselli: I would travel down there for that.
- 12:10Dayna Roselli: So it lets people know what else is out there, outside of your bubble.
- 12:15Sean McAllister: And that's good, because how often have if you're going to dinner with someone and they're like, oh, where should we go?
- 12:22Sean McAllister: And you're like I don't know?
- 12:24Sean McAllister: And that's such a ridiculous answer to think in your head in a city like Las Vegas, because there are so many places you could go, but in the moment you're like I don't know at least I always do I have a brain freeze and I'm like, ugh, I don't know, there's nowhere to go, which could not be the furthest thing from the truth.
- 12:44Dayna Roselli: Right, you're right.
- 12:45Dayna Roselli: So maybe we transition from that into thanks to our sponsors, including Vegas Near Me a wonderful app where you can look up restaurants and specifics about restaurants.
- 12:57Dayna Roselli: You can download it.
- 12:58Dayna Roselli: We have a link in our show notes.
- 12:59Dayna Roselli: It's a must have and it really is a good place.
- 13:02Dayna Roselli: When you're looking we've talked about this before you can actually put in there like patio dining, and restaurants will come up that have a patio, live music and things like that.
- 13:10Dayna Roselli: So if you are looking for specifics, it's always very helpful.
- 13:13Sean McAllister: Also Hot Works, infrared 24-hour Fitness Studios with locations all over the Las Vegas Valley.
- 13:21Sean McAllister: We have more information down in our show notes.
- 13:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah, lots of locations that you can go to in the Henderson and Las Vegas area.
- 13:27Dayna Roselli: Remember mentioned Vegas revealed that they're gonna waive the $99 enrollment fee.
- 13:31Dayna Roselli: Sean, I had someone that I was talking to recently in an event and she was telling me because I was telling her about Hot Works, because she was saying she wanted to know more about it, and she said I pay close to what you're saying that you, it's $59 a month, by the way, unlimited.
- 13:45Dayna Roselli: I pay just to go for one session to just sit in an infrared sauna.
- 13:50Dayna Roselli: And I was like, yeah, don't do that.
- 13:51Dayna Roselli: Sign up for Hot Works, go do workouts when you want to, and sometimes you can just book it and go lay there and take it in, Relax a little bit.
- 13:59Dayna Roselli: So it's definitely a great deal and I think that people should take advantage of it.
- 14:03Dayna Roselli: I just had another friend sign up and she's loving it so far.
- 14:06Sean McAllister: I mean that is that's a great deal.
- 14:07Sean McAllister: Also Frey Ranch Whiskey, the Northern Nevada Whiskey and Bourbon Distillers.
- 14:13Sean McAllister: They are Nevada grown and award-winning whiskies and bourbons.
- 14:19Sean McAllister: We're gonna have more on Frey Ranch and our experience up there still to come in this episode.
- 14:26Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and we've got a tip for you for the upcoming holidays.
- 14:28Dayna Roselli: When it comes to whiskey and the holidays.
- 14:30Dayna Roselli: Speaking of celebrating things, it's not a holiday but it kind of felt like one over at the Bellagio celebrating 25 years.
- 14:39Dayna Roselli: Can you believe it?
- 14:39Dayna Roselli: The Bellagio opened on October 15th 1998.
- 14:43Dayna Roselli: And you know what that means.
- 14:45Dayna Roselli: That means Cirque du Soleil's oh is also celebrating 25 years, because they have been there since the very beginning.
- 14:51Sean McAllister: I mean which is astounding to me, that it's been 25 years, a quarter century, on the Las Vegas Strip.
- 15:00Sean McAllister: And oh by Cirque du Soleil has by far been one of the most consistently sold out production shows on the Las Vegas Strip.
- 15:11Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean it's fabulous and people love that they utilize the water on stage.
- 15:17Dayna Roselli: It's just such a cool thing.
- 15:18Dayna Roselli: I mean some of though we saw the show.
- 15:20Dayna Roselli: We were at the anniversary show.
- 15:21Dayna Roselli: It was spectacular.
- 15:22Dayna Roselli: But when you watch people drop from the ceiling into this water and then later they're kind of walking along it and it's only covering their feet, what that stage can do with the water, how deep it is and then how it's not deep and everything that happens on.
- 15:36Dayna Roselli: It's a big stage but it's not that big.
- 15:39Dayna Roselli: But they utilize that space.
- 15:41Dayna Roselli: It's remarkable.
- 15:42Sean McAllister: And the show is just absolutely beautiful.
- 15:45Sean McAllister: But you're right, I think there are moments it took my breath away, I guess.
- 15:50Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 15:51Sean McAllister: Like audibly.
- 15:51Sean McAllister: I was worried that the people next to me were thinking I was being super dramatic, but it's like.
- 15:58Dayna Roselli: I know, I know it's Cirque du Soleil.
- 16:00Dayna Roselli: They do some amazing, incredible things in all of their shows.
- 16:06Dayna Roselli: I mean the talent in those shows, always unbelievable.
- 16:09Dayna Roselli: Here's some factoids that we looked up to.
- 16:11Dayna Roselli: Can you believe?
- 16:12Dayna Roselli: Over 19 million tickets have been sold to O Geez Since the 25 years They've had 11,345 performances.
- 16:21Dayna Roselli: They have 1,200 costumes and headpieces in every performance across 77 performers, and then the underwater communication system.
- 16:33Dayna Roselli: That's there 26 speakers and 14 technicians.
- 16:37Sean McAllister: Man.
- 16:37Sean McAllister: That's incredible.
- 16:38Dayna Roselli: Isn't it?
- 16:39Sean McAllister: And you know, last year Wendt did a behind the scenes story to go down underneath the theater at the bottom of the pool and then up into the rafters.
- 16:49Sean McAllister: So I'll be sure to repost that on my social media accounts.
- 16:53Sean McAllister: I think you'll really love to see that.
- 16:56Sean McAllister: But even the lighting inside this theater at Bellagio uses over 220,000 feet of cable.
- 17:04Sean McAllister: That's more than 42 miles of cable that's used for the lighting just inside that theater.
- 17:12Dayna Roselli: Incredible.
- 17:13Dayna Roselli: What a show.
- 17:14Dayna Roselli: Standing ovation at the end.
- 17:15Dayna Roselli: It was great.
- 17:17Dayna Roselli: We went to a party to celebrate beforehand.
- 17:19Dayna Roselli: That was wonderful.
- 17:20Dayna Roselli: Over at Jasmine inside the Bellagio, the food was delicious.
- 17:23Dayna Roselli: They have beautiful patio.
- 17:25Dayna Roselli: We were able to watch the fountain show Great crowd.
- 17:28Dayna Roselli: All the heads of Cirque du Soleil were in town for it too.
- 17:30Sean McAllister: Yeah, they were, and there was a special plaque that was unveiled in honor of Franco Dragone, who was one of the Cirque du Soleil partners at the time, who helped create O by Cirque du Soleil.
- 17:43Sean McAllister: He passed away recently so there is now a plaque over there at the O Theater honoring Franco Dragone just a really visionary entertainment producer.
- 17:53Sean McAllister: So all around it was just a spectacular event.
- 17:58Sean McAllister: Congratulations to everyone at Cirque du Soleil, past and present, who has had a hand in that show, and also congratulations to everybody who has had a hand in making sure that Bellagio stays one of the top properties in Las Vegas over the past 25 years as well.
- 18:16Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I can't believe it.
- 18:17Dayna Roselli: It's been 25 years.
- 18:18Dayna Roselli: It's such an iconic property, right?
- 18:20Dayna Roselli: And it's like right in the center of Strip and it was really like the first luxurious, luxury hotel that we had on the Las Vegas Strip back then.
- 18:28Sean McAllister: Yeah, and look how much luxury plays a role in Las Vegas now.
- 18:32Sean McAllister: So that really is thanks to Bellagio setting that trend.
- 18:39Dayna Roselli: Well, we have a lot of people that visit us from California, don't they?
- 18:41Dayna Roselli: And they go to the Bellagio.
- 18:43Sean McAllister: They certainly do.
- 18:45Dayna Roselli: But we have so many events that we always talk about all the time and attractions and people just come in for long weekends from California and for as long as I can remember, our mayor, Carolyn Goodman, has tweeted away and I don't want to say yelled at, but I'm going to say kind of yelled at California and their Department of Transportation to get widening those lanes on the I-15 after you pass the Nevada border.
- 19:13Sean McAllister: Well, and here's why, at the end of every weekend, on Sunday afternoon, or if it's a long holiday weekend, on Monday or even Tuesday morning, when everybody is driving back to California, the Nevada side of the I-15 highway is several lanes wide, at least four lanes and then you get to the border and it shrinks down to many fewer lanes and it just causes this massive backup and in the heat of the summer that can cause a lot of problems.
- 19:46Sean McAllister: People run out of gas, they run out of water and there's not a ton of facilities or really access, especially when you're in gridlock traffic, to help people out like that.
- 19:58Sean McAllister: So yeah, carolyn Goodman has been just rattling that cowbell saying hey, california, get on your game, widen your side of the highway.
- 20:09Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 20:09Dayna Roselli: So.
- 20:09Dayna Roselli: We caught up with her at the Sphere Premier and we've been saving this little clip for you, but we did ask her about it and she was very happy to discuss it.
- 20:19Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: And I'm on it all the time If California doesn't step to the plate and open up, because it's their produce trying to go east to the belly of the country.
- 20:28Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: It's not only about those from California or those from here that wanna get there.
- 20:33Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: This is the most ridiculous stretch of roadway.
- 20:37Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: It's 113 miles.
- 20:40Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: We'll get it on.
- 20:41Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: Look what we've got here.
- 20:43Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: I mean, look what we've got.
- 20:44Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: I can't wait to see.
- 20:45Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: Oh, I got a new place with a great idea.
- 20:48Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: I'm gonna talk to whoever's running the show here.
- 20:51Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: Say I-15, widen I-15.
- 20:55Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: Well, they'll see it up in the sky everywhere.
- 20:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 20:58Dayna Roselli: So she was looking up at the Sphere, thinking, all right, I got that exosphere, I gotta put my tweets up there.
- 21:03Dayna Roselli: She's so funny.
- 21:04Dayna Roselli: She thanked us for even asking the question, which she just loves to talk about, and I know we wanted to point something out before we get a whole bunch of emails and tweets.
- 21:14Sean McAllister: But well, clearly, the mayor of Las Vegas does not have jurisdiction over that portion of highway, or the California side for that matter.
- 21:27Sean McAllister: However, carolyn Goodman is always a cheerleader for all of Southern Nevada and she likes to point out things that need to get done, and she will use her voice as mayor to make sure that people know her thoughts.
- 21:43Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean you know cause she doesn't have any authority, but you know people, anything that's going to affect the city of Las Vegas affects her.
- 21:53Dayna Roselli: So you know she's in charge of making sure that the city of Las Vegas runs smoothly.
- 21:58Dayna Roselli: So she wants people to come in, she wants them to leave and she wants them to be happy and not grumpy and stuck in traffic.
- 22:04Dayna Roselli: I haven't actually done that drive in a long time.
- 22:07Dayna Roselli: I stopped driving it because of what she's saying.
- 22:10Dayna Roselli: I thought you know what.
- 22:11Dayna Roselli: I'm taking a quick jet suite flight for an hour or a Southwest flight.
- 22:14Dayna Roselli: I'm not doing it anymore Cause it is, you can get stuck in some major traffic and it's frustrating cause there's no alternate route.
- 22:21Sean McAllister: Yeah, I think we drove to San Diego relatively recently, but we made sure to plan the drive around those periods of time when things do get really backed up.
- 22:33Dayna Roselli: So so, anyway, that was our thoughts from Mayor Carolyn Goodman.
- 22:37Dayna Roselli: She's always a good, good chat and we love her passion for everything Las Vegas.
- 22:42Sean McAllister: Yeah, the mayor is definitely always very passionate and we know exactly where she stands on things.
- 22:47Sean McAllister: Hey, still the calm Last week here on Vegas Revealed.
- 22:51Sean McAllister: We asked you to send us ideas on things that you would like to have covered, and we did receive an email from a listener about family friendly activities.
- 23:01Sean McAllister: So we have some ideas and options for you still to come here on Vegas Revealed.
- 23:07Sean McAllister: So we wanna make sure you stick around for that.
- 23:09Dayna Roselli: Yeah, all right.
- 23:10Dayna Roselli: Well, this one's not for the kids, but it is for the adults.
- 23:13Dayna Roselli: And we've been telling you about Frey Ranch Whiskey up there in Fallon Nevada.
- 23:17Dayna Roselli: That is where the farm is, where they actually produce the whiskey, do the tastings.
- 23:21Dayna Roselli: They've been having a great harvest festival this fall.
- 23:24Sean McAllister: Yeah, and they have this ground to glass concept where everything there on the ranch is grown and distilled into the award-winning whiskey and bourbon that they sell not only here in Nevada but across the country.
- 23:40Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and you know what People love their whiskey, which I'm learning more and more.
- 23:43Dayna Roselli: It's ever since we've gone there, the amount of messages that we've had and people that stopped me somebody at my pool the other day stopped me like, hey, I love that Frey Ranch Whiskey.
- 23:51Dayna Roselli: Did they give you a bottle?
- 23:52Dayna Roselli: I want some.
- 23:53Dayna Roselli: And I was like no, but you can go online.
- 23:55Dayna Roselli: Well, they did give me a bottle, but I'm not giving it to you is what I said to him, but you can go online and order some.
- 24:00Dayna Roselli: But when we were there on the farm, we did actually take a tour with founder Colby Frey and it was so interesting because he was really telling us the process, like you said, of how they farm there, what they do to actually grow the crops.
- 24:13Dayna Roselli: And then we took another stop and we actually watched them go through the process of creating it and making it and learning all this different stuff.
- 24:22Dayna Roselli: And we've talked about it over the last few weeks, but I thought this was interesting something that he talked about.
- 24:27Dayna Roselli: When we were out there on the golf carts touring the farm, somebody had asked him like well, how much whiskey actually comes from the crop?
- 24:35Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: Next year I think we're gonna grow about 700 acres.
- 24:37Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman: That should be enough to produce over 100,000 cases of whiskey.
- 24:41Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it was really interesting to learn about even the climate and how the Northern Nevada climate is just perfect for growing these crops and he was saying there's a magic day that they actually plant the corn.
- 24:53Dayna Roselli: And he was saying it's May 10th, right, and it's just like it's something that came up from generations.
- 24:59Sean McAllister: Yeah, he said that date is a date that Colby's grandfather came up with after years and years of trial and error, trying to find out just the right time when the frost isn't gonna hit and before it gets too warm, and that May 10th is the magic day when those crops get in the ground.
- 25:18Sean McAllister: And they do create some really incredible crops up there on Frey Ranch.
- 25:24Sean McAllister: And what I love is that the holiday season is coming up and let me tell you for any whiskey lover, if you're a whiskey lover, then treat yourself to a holiday gift of Frey Ranch whiskey.
- 25:36Sean McAllister: If you have a whiskey lover in your family or maybe a friend, this is an incredible gift to give.
- 25:43Sean McAllister: I would love it if I had Frey Ranch whiskey in my stocking and maybe pair it with one of those home smoker kits so you can make those handcrafted old fashions right there in the comfort of your own home.
- 25:57Sean McAllister: That would be an incredible gift.
- 25:59Sean McAllister: So think of Frey Ranchcom when you're checking people off your list.
- 26:04Dayna Roselli: Well, because I was gonna say I feel like the old fashioned, like that drink has really come back over the last, or a lot of a few years, I mean, and like I don't know, maybe it's always been out there and I wasn't.
- 26:15Dayna Roselli: I mean, I know it's always been out there, but I do feel like more and more people are enjoying like people our age are enjoying old fashions more than ever am I.
- 26:24Dayna Roselli: I don't know if I'm right or wrong on that no, I think you're a hundred percent.
- 26:28Sean McAllister: Okay, bullseye especially, a lot of restaurants have really been promoting like their old fashioned presentation, you know, bringing it in the dome and smoking it in the glass heart that rolls out next to your table absolutely the old fashioned cart yeah so, yes, old fashions are having a moment right now, and fray ranch bourbon is the perfect thing to make a more and I feel like it's great around the holidays to order.
- 26:56Dayna Roselli: we've got a link in our show notes if you'd like to learn more about fray ranch Whiskey, bourbon and if you'd like to order a bottle to sell.
- 27:04Dayna Roselli: We want to thank fray ranch for sponsoring the podcast over the last few weeks and we have just enjoyed Talking about them, learning about the process, and we really enjoyed our visit up to the farm and good friends to yeah, by the way, real quick, as we didn't mention 12 to 4.
- 27:19Dayna Roselli: On Saturdays you go up there and do tastings as well.
- 27:22Sean McAllister: And it's a really pretty.
- 27:24Sean McAllister: The ranch is absolutely beautiful, so if you're up in northern Nevada, make a point to stop in and say hi to Ashley and Colby.
- 27:32Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 27:34Dayna Roselli: Okay, moving along to family friendly activities, we told you we did get a letter from Clinton and we appreciate it, and he wrote us at ideas at Vegas dash revealed dot com and he really wanted us to let people know more about things to do with children and youth and family friendly activities.
- 27:50Dayna Roselli: He said a lot of times when he has talked to people they said they've come into town and there's.
- 27:55Dayna Roselli: They felt like you know, wasn't a lot to do with the kids, kids were a little bored and it just wasn't a pleasant experience for them and so he thought it would be good if we focused on that.
- 28:06Dayna Roselli: We're gonna touch on it, but we probably can't make it.
- 28:10Sean McAllister: you know a specific podcast just about that, because we do know our listeners and most of our visitors are Adults that come to Las Vegas and also just a point we do like to and we've talked about it here before we like to talk about our own experiences with things here in Las Vegas, neither of us being a parent yeah we do Go and partake in a lot of the adult activities, so that's why we talk about the more adult things.
- 28:39Sean McAllister: But that is a very good point in Clinton.
- 28:41Dayna Roselli: thank you for bringing it to our attention in your email that it is good to bring up these family friendly activities as well yeah, and he mentioned like there's a bunch of people coming in from for F1, the formula one race, and apparently they're bringing their families and kids and and he was wondering if anything's you know out there for them to do.
