- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what he said.
- 0:01Speaker 2: That's what he said.
- 0:03Speaker 1: That's what he said.
- 0:04Speaker 2: That's what he said.
- 0:08Speaker 3: Okay, So the day after the season ends kind of
- 0:10Speaker 3: situation here for the Phillies with Dave Dombrowski doing the
- 0:13Speaker 3: post mortem about a week after they were bounced from
- 0:16Speaker 3: the postseason. It got more attention because he brought up
- 0:20Speaker 3: Bryce Harper. He actually brought up a lot of things.
- 0:23Speaker 3: The only definite he gave us was that Max Kupler
- 0:26Speaker 3: is not returning. He was on a one year deal,
- 0:28Speaker 3: and it sounds like they want Justin Crawford in a
- 0:30Speaker 3: little bit of an outfield reshuffle. For the most part,
- 0:32Speaker 3: they're not going to give away everything they're doing for
- 0:34Speaker 3: the offseason. This is all info coming from The Philly Show,
- 0:37Speaker 3: by the way, which is part of the FT Network,
- 0:38Speaker 3: and it's a fantastic show. But anyway, I want to
- 0:40Speaker 3: start with Bryce Harper Kratz and get your thoughts here
- 0:43Speaker 3: from the jump after we roll the clip, because online
- 0:46Speaker 3: some people are like, oh, Dave Dombrowski's shading Bryce Harper,
- 0:50Speaker 3: saying he's not good anymore.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Okay, let's listen to the clip and decide, yes, I don't.
- 0:54Speaker 4: Think I mean in Bryce's case, of course, he's still
- 0:57Speaker 4: a flopping player. He's still love star caliber player. He
- 1:03Speaker 4: didn't have an elite season like he has had in
- 1:06Speaker 4: the past.
- 1:07Speaker 5: And.
- 1:10Speaker 4: I guess we only find out if he becomes the
- 1:12Speaker 4: elite or he continues to be good.
- 1:14Speaker 5: I mean that.
- 1:14Speaker 4: It's not like he's you know, it's like if you
- 1:17Speaker 4: say to me, I look around the league. I'm trying
- 1:20Speaker 4: to think Freddy Freeman. It's a really good player, right,
- 1:24Speaker 4: he still is a good player. Is he elite like
- 1:28Speaker 4: he was before? Probably not to the same extent, And
- 1:31Speaker 4: so that's nothing that could you know, Freddy's a tremendous player,
- 1:35Speaker 4: And that's to me, is Bryce can he rise to
- 1:38Speaker 4: the next level? Again, I don't really know that answer.
- 1:41Speaker 4: I mean, and really he's he's the one that will
- 1:44Speaker 4: dictate that more than anything else, I mean, is what
- 1:47Speaker 4: it comes down to. So I don't think he's content
- 1:52Speaker 4: with the year that he had, and again, it wasn't
- 1:55Speaker 4: a bad year. But when I think of Bryce Harper,
- 1:58Speaker 4: you think an elite right in, one of the top
- 2:00Speaker 4: ten players in baseball, and I don't think it fit
- 2:02Speaker 4: into that category. But again, very good player. I have
- 2:06Speaker 4: no idea when you see somebody. I have seen guys
- 2:09Speaker 4: at his age again, he's not old that level off
- 2:16Speaker 4: all I've seen guys.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Rise. Again.
- 2:21Speaker 4: We'll see what happens.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Is he calling him out in a nice way, like
- 2:28Speaker 3: I want to see Bryce be legendary versus just a
- 2:32Speaker 3: star in the sport. He certainly wasn't saying what some
- 2:35Speaker 3: were referring to, like, oh, he's pissed off and doesn't
- 2:38Speaker 3: like Bryce the season and all that. I mean, Bryce
- 2:40Speaker 3: said a down year by his standards. That's fair to say,
- 2:44Speaker 3: right Kratz, I'd tell you, oh, hell, yeah, good. He's
- 2:48Speaker 3: just saying it wasn't you know, Like let me just
- 2:50Speaker 3: let's keep it simple here for the start, right, Like,
- 2:52Speaker 3: let's just go on offense for a moment, because he's
- 2:54Speaker 3: a Gold Club finalist. He's playing a really nice first
- 2:56Speaker 3: base these days, right, talking about Bryce ops plus forty
- 3:01Speaker 3: two percent better than league average. This year he was
- 3:04Speaker 3: at one twenty nine, so it's a tick below. I
- 3:06Speaker 3: actually am very against Dave's comments about Freddie Freeman. He's
- 3:10Speaker 3: like a top three defensive first baseman. His career ops
- 3:13Speaker 3: plus is one forty two, and this year he was
- 3:14Speaker 3: one forty one.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Plus.
- 3:15Speaker 3: He's a postseason legend and monster. I think if anything,
- 3:19Speaker 3: you know, Bryce coming up short in a small sample
- 3:21Speaker 3: size in the postseason and not being himself could be
- 3:24Speaker 3: looked at.
- 3:25Speaker 2: But what's your take here?
- 3:27Speaker 6: My take is they have to dive into was he
- 3:30Speaker 6: one hundred percent healthy? Because very few guys finish a
- 3:34Speaker 6: season one hundred percent healthy. It's how you play through that.
- 3:37Speaker 6: And a one twenty nine ops plus for Bryce, to
- 3:41Speaker 6: me is still legit. It's still an all star level player.
- 3:45Speaker 6: The question was posed, is he still elite? And he's like,
- 3:50Speaker 6: I don't know. I don't know if he's ever able to.
- 3:52Speaker 6: I've seen guys decline. I've seen guys rise out of
- 3:57Speaker 6: the ashes, is what he said. And I know he
- 4:00Speaker 6: in Philly right now. Bryce Harper is on a dartboard.
- 4:06Speaker 6: Kyle Schwarber is on a dart He's on two dartboards,
- 4:08Speaker 6: and Trey Turner on darbirds because Philly fans are pissed
- 4:13Speaker 6: that those guys didn't hit. But if you watch his demeanor,
- 4:17Speaker 6: if you watch Dombrowski's demeanor, he's like, look like, this
- 4:21Speaker 6: is the team we built. This is a really good player.
- 4:24Speaker 6: Can he improve? It's up to him, So maybe this
- 4:28Speaker 6: was a little prodding. But the only person that can
- 4:31Speaker 6: say it was a little prodding was Bryce. Bryce was
- 4:34Speaker 6: also the same guy less than a year ago said
- 4:37Speaker 6: maybe I want an extension, Maybe I want to finish
- 4:40Speaker 6: out of Philly. Maybe this is Don Browski's way of saying,
- 4:44Speaker 6: if you want to come back to me with that,
- 4:46Speaker 6: I got to see a little uptick. I'm not saying
- 4:48Speaker 6: it was. I'm saying it could be viewed that way
- 4:51Speaker 6: by Bryce. And the last thing you ever want to
- 4:54Speaker 6: do is give Bryce a reason. I'm not saying that
- 4:59Speaker 6: he's pissing him off, saying he could take that next level.
- 5:03Speaker 6: Why because Bryce has never been that consistent one forty
- 5:07Speaker 6: two ops plus, He's been like one thirty ops plus, bang,
- 5:11Speaker 6: one eighty MVP, one thirty one, thirty one thirty bang MVP,
- 5:17Speaker 6: those types of years. He still got that in him.
- 5:20Speaker 6: I believe that, and he works incredibly hard. He was
- 5:24Speaker 6: drafted as a catcher, became an outfielder so he can
- 5:27Speaker 6: get to the big league so much sooner was an outfielder,
- 5:30Speaker 6: went to first base, and now in the second full
- 5:33Speaker 6: season of being a first baseman, he's a Gold Glove finalist.
- 5:38Speaker 6: And maybe if there's a first base then like Josh
- 5:40Speaker 6: Naylor for the Phillies, would he want to go back
- 5:42Speaker 6: out to right field?
- 5:43Speaker 1: I don't know. Question.
- 5:45Speaker 3: They said no, Dave said no, okay, Dave said deaf no.
- 5:50Speaker 3: So because you have some fans like oh, Pete Alonzo
- 5:53Speaker 3: no no, no, not yeah, but Naylor too. I love Naylor,
- 5:56Speaker 3: but Naylor's first base or dh that's it. And so
- 6:02Speaker 3: Pryce is the guy.
- 6:03Speaker 6: Pryce is a Gold Glove finalist that's been the knock
- 6:06Speaker 6: on Pete like everybody, And I don't agree with it
- 6:10Speaker 6: because the first base defense is so like the difference
- 6:13Speaker 6: between elite and like brutal isn't that high? Isn't that much?
- 6:20Speaker 6: But to me, I think he's he is settled into
- 6:24Speaker 6: first base. But he said Bryce said he was willing
- 6:27Speaker 6: to do it had they gotten somebody. So the dudes,
- 6:32Speaker 6: the dude's there for the two like, there's no I
- 6:34Speaker 6: don't think there was any shade thrown towards Bryce. I
- 6:36Speaker 6: think Dombrowski was just being honest.
- 6:41Speaker 7: There's a I think a confidence level that Dombrowski kind
- 6:44Speaker 7: of didn't show there about his guys. So I mean,
- 6:47Speaker 7: for me, if I'm Bryce I'm looking at this like
- 6:52Speaker 7: like I don't know where this is coming from, kind
- 6:54Speaker 7: of like what you said, maybe contract something like what
- 6:57Speaker 7: why is this you know this question or or this
- 7:00Speaker 7: answer being told talking about he's thirty three year olds
- 7:05Speaker 7: that it's not old at all. You know, in my opinion,
- 7:09Speaker 7: thirty three, you're still kicking. You got at least five
- 7:11Speaker 7: more good years. I think he's still going to be
- 7:13Speaker 7: an elite player. I think he's gonna be a top
- 7:15Speaker 7: ten player for sure. Yeah, he had a good year.
- 7:18Speaker 7: He didn't have a great year. Okay, whooped he do?
- 7:20Speaker 7: I mean, your team didn't win. You can't just pinpoint
- 7:23Speaker 7: it on one guy. And I think the last thing
- 7:26Speaker 7: I'll say, like, all right, well, if you're gonna come
- 7:28Speaker 7: out in interviews like that, be prepared for a player
- 7:31Speaker 7: like a guy in Bryce Harper to come out and
- 7:33Speaker 7: ask questions about this staff and about what else to come.
- 7:37Speaker 7: Not attack Don Browski, but say, hey, man, I don't
- 7:41Speaker 7: know what they're doing up there. We know we're looking
- 7:43Speaker 7: for other players. We want this, so maybe Dave. You
- 7:47Speaker 7: know we're talking about top ten gms. Maybe Dave. We
- 7:50Speaker 7: don't know who he is right now, so don't don't
- 7:52Speaker 7: be upset when a player of his stature comes back
- 7:55Speaker 7: at you in a good way, not to crush you,
- 7:58Speaker 7: but to question you a little bit.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Yeah, they're gonna switch things up. I mean, I think
- 8:04Speaker 3: that much is clear. They didn't do it much last year,
- 8:09Speaker 3: but I think they're going to do more of it
- 8:11Speaker 3: this year.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Kratz.
- 8:12Speaker 3: It's a lot of regular season success, but they're not
- 8:15Speaker 3: getting where they want to go. They're getting cut off
- 8:18Speaker 3: a little bit sooner each year.
- 8:20Speaker 6: Posts I heard this last year, they're gonna change, They're
- 8:24Speaker 6: gonna they're gonna change.
- 8:26Speaker 1: And who did they get? Max Kepler? They picked up
- 8:29Speaker 1: Jordan Romano, Like they're.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Gonna do it again. Though, don't you think there's gonna
- 8:35Speaker 3: be uproar there if they leave everything the same?
- 8:38Speaker 6: The same people, the same people that are saying, oh,
- 8:40Speaker 6: the top three really struggled in the nl DS. Yo,
- 8:44Speaker 6: we gotta sign Schwarba bag go. So there's no way
- 8:47Speaker 6: to be knock a great year? Like what Like anybody
- 8:52Speaker 6: that's come up to me, because I went and played
- 8:54Speaker 6: poker last night and dudes were like, what about the
- 8:56Speaker 6: top three in the NLDS? They were terrible? And I
- 8:59Speaker 6: was like, what are you talking about you're talking about
- 9:01Speaker 6: the Dodgers top three because they were brutal. They actually
- 9:04Speaker 6: got hit out hit by the Phillies top three in
- 9:06Speaker 6: that series. Oh, you're just you're just listening to the
- 9:09Speaker 6: every single thing that everybody else is saying. The Phillies
- 9:13Speaker 6: are not in a bad place. Do they need to
- 9:15Speaker 6: change something?
- 9:16Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 9:17Speaker 6: Like what do they need to change? Like their music? No,
- 9:20Speaker 6: they need to hit in the postseason. They need to
- 9:23Speaker 6: score more runs at the end of the game and
- 9:26Speaker 6: continue to push forward.
- 9:28Speaker 1: They haven't done it. They've got to gone in reverse.
- 9:30Speaker 6: You'd rather see your team go and Olds outed and
- 9:35Speaker 6: LDS outed, NLCS and then the World Series, but they
- 9:40Speaker 6: went backwards. So they have to change something. But they
- 9:44Speaker 6: have the personnel to do it, and they're probably gonna
- 9:47Speaker 6: go and sign somebody that will help this lineup.
- 9:50Speaker 1: They got a hit in October.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Hey, we'll ask Dave about this. He's supposed to join
- 9:56Speaker 3: us next week, Right next week.
- 9:57Speaker 2: On Thursday, Dave Dombroskar live on foul Territory. We'll ask him.
- 10:02Speaker 3: And lastly, Freddie Freeman's busy right now in the postseason,
- 10:05Speaker 3: but I will represent him on this. Excuse me, I
- 10:08Speaker 3: would like to refrain from catching strays right now, Thank
- 10:12Speaker 3: you very much. I know I'm a little bit older,
- 10:15Speaker 3: but my numbers are the same, and I rest my
- 10:17Speaker 3: case so consistent.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it's ridiculous.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Nothing's changed.
- 10:24Speaker 3: He looks sure if you want to say, he's older,
- 10:26Speaker 3: a little slower, but the production, the numbers are the
- 10:29Speaker 3: same for a long time.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Look it up.

- 11:33Speaker 2: What's the beef?
- 11:34Speaker 3: There's a lot of it actually, with two former stars,
- 11:37Speaker 3: Derek Jeeter and Alex Rodriguez sending shots towards Brian Cashman.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Cash is like, I've been in the biz for a minute.
- 11:45Speaker 3: I'm clapping back, and he did so. There were two
- 11:50Speaker 3: different sides of the coin here. A Rod was more
- 11:53Speaker 3: ripping the entire roster, saying that it was a terrible
- 11:57Speaker 3: roster the twenty twenty five Yanks, and Cashman slightly pointed
- 12:01Speaker 3: out how forty eight hours prior ay Rod picked them
- 12:04Speaker 3: to win the World Series, So stay hot. I think
- 12:07Speaker 3: I think Jeter's is the one that we should focus
- 12:09Speaker 3: more on. And we're going to get sound here from
- 12:11Speaker 3: cash coming up in just a sec. But Jeter was
- 12:14Speaker 3: defending Boone and saying you didn't have any inside knowledge,
- 12:17Speaker 3: but that he felt like Boone was being told what
- 12:19Speaker 3: to do, which is pretty standard. I will actually side
- 12:22Speaker 3: comment in Today's Sport. But he was taking a shot
- 12:25Speaker 3: at Cashman and his group for you know, taking over
- 12:28Speaker 3: and being too analytical and the whole deal. Right, So
- 12:30Speaker 3: cash did not just say I'm not going to cover that.
- 12:33Speaker 3: He actually went on a radio show WFN and said this.
- 12:38Speaker 5: And they don't know clearly that they don't know. I
- 12:41Speaker 5: know that DJ said that. I don't know what he
- 12:43Speaker 5: meant by it. He did say he doesn't have inside
- 12:45Speaker 5: knowledge when he said it, but he did say it
- 12:47Speaker 5: for whatever reason. And I think that's the bigaboo that
- 12:50Speaker 5: people get to throw out there when they got nothing
- 12:52Speaker 5: else to throw, you know. It's like, you know, so
- 12:55Speaker 5: he agreed with me that Aaron Boon's a good manager,
- 12:57Speaker 5: does Derek's commentary, and I agree with him, and then
- 13:02Speaker 5: you know, you know, there's always the boogeyman of other
- 13:05Speaker 5: people are making the calls analytics, analytics, analytics. People like
- 13:10Speaker 5: to throw that too, you know, and none of that's accurate.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Uh.
- 13:15Speaker 5: At the end of the day, you know, you put
- 13:18Speaker 5: Yo Tour on a deposition, you put your Joji Alurdy
- 13:21Speaker 5: under a deep position, you put Aaron Moon under de deposition.
- 13:24Speaker 5: I've never picked a lineup. We've never picked a lineup.
- 13:27Speaker 5: We don't tell them who to play. We don't tell
- 13:29Speaker 5: them who to pitch, whether it's the tenor the rotation.
- 13:32Speaker 5: We do have conversations, like every organization you know about,
- 13:36Speaker 5: you know, you know what's best at times in our opinion,
- 13:40Speaker 5: their opinion. They'll ask us various different things, and that's
- 13:44Speaker 5: about process and the setups. But at the end of
- 13:46Speaker 5: the day, they have the power of the lineup in
- 13:48Speaker 5: the in gaming and it just isn't the case. So
- 13:51Speaker 5: it's just a sad, sad uh, you know, throw away
- 13:55Speaker 5: comments for people to make that don't really know.
- 13:58Speaker 2: A little extra context too.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Rod doesn't love cash because in twenty thirteen he got
- 14:03Speaker 3: the two hundred eleven game PD suspension kind of broke
- 14:05Speaker 3: up the relationship with him and with many others. To
- 14:08Speaker 3: be fair, he sued everybody besides himself on that one.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Jeter after twenty ten didn't get the long term deal
- 14:15Speaker 3: and he's bitter about that, and that's fair. Just to
- 14:16Speaker 3: give you a little context that they're not BFFs. Your
- 14:20Speaker 3: thoughts on one side versus the other.
- 14:23Speaker 7: Here, Yeah, interesting, just very interesting. It's a little uh,
- 14:30Speaker 7: I think I think everybody's a little upset right now.
- 14:32Speaker 7: The Yankees aren't in the playoffs and they're not fighting
- 14:35Speaker 7: their way to get to the World Series. I think
- 14:37Speaker 7: that's where it stems from. I think there's a little
- 14:40Speaker 7: bit of tough love, like, hey man, why aren't the
- 14:44Speaker 7: Yankees winning. There's got to be some sort of issue.
- 14:46Speaker 7: I mean, trying to defend. I think Derek Jeter's trying
- 14:49Speaker 7: to defend his buddy, you know, Aaron Boone, which in
- 14:52Speaker 7: alrighty has and and he can and I think you know,
- 14:56Speaker 7: you don't. Here's the thing. You don't really see this
- 14:58Speaker 7: too much in Yankee lamb know, the talking back and
- 15:01Speaker 7: not back and forth to each other. But one guy
- 15:03Speaker 7: especially is such prowess and such Hall of Fame status
- 15:09Speaker 7: as as Derek Jeter is. All of a sudden, now
- 15:12Speaker 7: he's he's got a platform. He could say basically what
- 15:14Speaker 7: he wants on on on the channel he's on and
- 15:17Speaker 7: and talking about baseball, and he let him lose. See
- 15:19Speaker 7: what he was like, listen, I don't have a source,
- 15:22Speaker 7: but at the same time, I got I gotta feel
- 15:24Speaker 7: that I know Aaron's not making the choices here and
- 15:26Speaker 7: Cashman all of a sudden came back with it. So
- 15:29Speaker 7: I'd love to see what transpires after this. Do I
- 15:32Speaker 7: think anything? Will? I don't, But yeah, little ding here,
- 15:36Speaker 7: a little ding there. There's nothing wrong with that. These
- 15:37Speaker 7: two grown men trying to, you know, help each other out,
- 15:41Speaker 7: making sure things are said right.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Jeter might not have a direct source Kratz, but is
- 15:46Speaker 3: he wrong. Jeter recently worked in a front office, and
- 15:49Speaker 3: I think on cash side bringing up Joe Torri or
- 15:51Speaker 3: even Joe Girardi at this point is so long ago
- 15:54Speaker 3: the game has changed. No manager makes decisions on their own,
- 15:58Speaker 3: and they shouldn't make decisions on their own. They very
- 16:00Speaker 3: valuable information. I think the part where the fight is
- 16:03Speaker 3: going on, and there are others involved too, with this
- 16:06Speaker 3: fight is that Aaron Boone is just heading to the
- 16:09Speaker 3: ballpark and saying my way or the highway.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Baby.
- 16:13Speaker 3: Everything I do is completely driven by me. Boone wants
- 16:16Speaker 3: the information. But also if he disagreed every single day,
- 16:19Speaker 3: would he be working for the Yankees.
- 16:22Speaker 6: No, But if you don't disagree with people, you never
- 16:25Speaker 6: get anywhere the organization that I was asked about the
- 16:29Speaker 6: most I've said this before on the show when I
- 16:31Speaker 6: went back to the Yankees was the Rays.
- 16:34Speaker 1: What do the Rays do different? What do the Rays do?
- 16:37Speaker 6: And I said, the Rays put everything they can into
- 16:41Speaker 6: wanting to win, and they're not afraid of letting people
- 16:45Speaker 6: say things, bring things up, and contradict each other. And
- 16:50Speaker 6: I'll be honest, I saw that with the Yankees. I
- 16:53Speaker 6: saw those conversations. Were there people that didn't agree, Yeah, absolutely,
- 16:59Speaker 6: but they didn't get fired for not agreeing. The people
- 17:01Speaker 6: that I saw get fired from that organization were people
- 17:04Speaker 6: who completely went against what the organization's view of how
- 17:12Speaker 6: to do things was going to be. So when they
- 17:14Speaker 6: brought in Aaron Boone, Aaron Boone was not like, oh man,
- 17:18Speaker 6: I gotta have this job to me. Aaron Boone has
- 17:21Speaker 6: done an incredible job because he sets an environment that
- 17:26Speaker 6: fosters people to question why they are saying something. Why
- 17:31Speaker 6: would you put Aircrats in the lineup over Gary Sanchez?
- 17:35Speaker 6: Why would you put Kyle Higashioka in the lineup over
- 17:39Speaker 6: Gary Sanchez or Gian Carlos. You know, all these things
- 17:44Speaker 6: are discussed and there's disagreements, but I believe at the
- 17:49Speaker 6: end of the day, this organization wants to win and
- 17:54Speaker 6: they push in the same direction.
- 17:56Speaker 1: And some things. There's a louder voice.
- 17:58Speaker 6: Sometimes it's analytics is allowed her voice, sometimes it has
- 18:01Speaker 6: to be boone is a louder voice, and him saying, look,
- 18:04Speaker 6: this is what I'm seeing on the field, and I
- 18:06Speaker 6: completely disagree with what a Rod said. This was a
- 18:10Speaker 6: good team. They just were not better than the Blue
- 18:13Speaker 6: Jays in this series.
- 18:16Speaker 3: I'm keeping A Rod's part mostly out of it, and
- 18:18Speaker 3: it's like, I mean, they're gonna win the World Series
- 18:21Speaker 3: two days later, they're the worst team that were. Like, Okay,
- 18:23Speaker 3: I think the Jeter Cashman part actually has juice to
- 18:26Speaker 3: it because I see both sides here. Cash is not
- 18:29Speaker 3: showing up in the dugout saying boot bop beep every
- 18:32Speaker 3: single day. But the front office does help make a
- 18:36Speaker 3: good chunk of the decision make. But they give that dude,
- 18:39Speaker 3: they give them information every day. Here's what the lineup
- 18:42Speaker 3: should look like.
- 18:43Speaker 2: You do you right?
- 18:44Speaker 3: If you think this player is going through it and
- 18:46Speaker 3: you're talking to him, that's fine, But that I mean,
- 18:49Speaker 3: that's normal. Like Joe Madden was on our show the
- 18:51Speaker 3: other day. You were on with him and he pushes
- 18:53Speaker 3: against this, but still for years, I know for the Cubs,
- 18:56Speaker 3: for example, they'd send him all his info and then
- 18:58Speaker 3: that morning he'd be on a tablet and he'd be
- 19:01Speaker 3: taking their info, mixing it with what he's.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Got like that. That's okay, We're allowed to give info.
- 19:05Speaker 7: My thing is, here's what the lineup is. Good luck
- 19:08Speaker 7: and you have no.
- 19:09Speaker 3: Choice, right, And there are some teams that do that too, right,
- 19:12Speaker 3: So then yeah, that's not them, that's fine. But my
- 19:16Speaker 3: point is to act like they don't have influence. Of
- 19:19Speaker 3: course they have influence, like every team has influenced these days.
- 19:22Speaker 3: And I don't know, I know, we can go all
- 19:25Speaker 3: day about this, but go ahead.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Last word, crats No, I don't have a last word.
- 19:32Speaker 1: I mean, we could talk, we could talk all the
- 19:34Speaker 1: time about it.
- 19:35Speaker 6: But in my opinion, Cashman has done everything to put
- 19:38Speaker 6: this team in a place to win.
- 19:40Speaker 1: The moves.
- 19:40Speaker 6: The guys that he's picked up after they pivoted from
- 19:43Speaker 6: not getting SODO, that's clearly no brainer. Cashman shouldn't be
- 19:48Speaker 6: on the hot seat. In my opinion, he should not
- 19:50Speaker 6: be on the hot seat the organization. Maybe some of
- 19:54Speaker 6: the decisions outside of Cashman and Boom. I think these
- 19:57Speaker 6: two guys are should have the the full trust from
- 20:03Speaker 6: Hal Steinberner to continue to do what they've been doing,
- 20:06Speaker 6: and that's making the playoffs year in and year out.
- 20:09Speaker 6: And I think they're gonna make a run of the
- 20:11Speaker 6: World Series again next year some way, somehow.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Yeah, they've assembled good rosters. They've made their mistakes. I
- 20:17Speaker 3: think the Bolpie situation, the more I've heard about it
- 20:19Speaker 3: doesn't make sense, like, oh, it was more of a
- 20:21Speaker 3: problem than we thought. Okay, then you shouldn't have been
- 20:23Speaker 3: playing as much. That's a separate issue. The last thing,
- 20:26Speaker 3: real quick, the analytics side, like oh the analytics, excuse y,
- 20:29Speaker 3: it is a real thing.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Okay.
- 20:30Speaker 3: The Yankees are top three in that for a long
- 20:32Speaker 3: period of time and own it. They always act like,
- 20:35Speaker 3: oh no, we don't care about that, and then behind
- 20:37Speaker 3: the scenes, like you talk to I mean, I'm including
- 20:39Speaker 3: eight list players that I've heard from, not this year,
- 20:42Speaker 3: last year, but it's probably like that have said like, yeah,
- 20:44Speaker 3: we had to talk to them internally. It was getting
- 20:47Speaker 3: too much. We go back and forth. We don't feel
- 20:48Speaker 3: like they're hearing us on that, Like that's not a secret.
- 20:51Speaker 3: That's minor leagues, that's major leagues. And there's always that
- 20:53Speaker 3: give and take, and they're not the only team, but
- 20:55Speaker 3: to act like, oh, oh, we hear the analytics, oh complaints.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Like, to me, that's belittling everybody around you and lying.
- 21:04Speaker 2: But that's me.
- 21:05Speaker 6: I think Yankee fans also need to hit get hit
- 21:08Speaker 6: with this dose of reality. Yes, they have not won
- 21:11Speaker 6: since two thousand and nine. In two thousand and nine,
- 21:14Speaker 6: and even like in the earlier when they won back
- 21:17Speaker 6: in the early two thousands, they were this far above
- 21:22Speaker 6: everybody else in the sense of like some of their
- 21:25Speaker 6: forward thinking and spending, well, that spending's never changed the differences.
- 21:30Speaker 6: A lot of teams have closed that gap. Now the
- 21:33Speaker 6: Yankees aren't getting worse. The other teams have closed that
- 21:36Speaker 6: gap with the with the edge that the Yankees had.
- 21:41Speaker 6: So now the Yankees have to find that new edge.
- 21:44Speaker 6: And to me, that new edge really sits in the
- 21:48Speaker 6: person to person interaction. How do you not get that
- 21:52Speaker 6: stuff wrong? How do you get that stuff throughout the
- 21:55Speaker 6: one sixty two then and then implement it into the postseason,
- 21:59Speaker 6: Like this is a team that was in the World
- 22:00Speaker 6: Series last year, Like they were in the World Series
- 22:03Speaker 6: they got beaten five games. Yes, they're in the World Series.
- 22:07Speaker 6: They are right there. I just think the rest of
- 22:10Speaker 6: the league has caught up to them. Now they have
- 22:13Speaker 6: to find a way to open that gap back up again.

- 23:25Speaker 3: Should we dip into some more questions here? There were
- 23:28Speaker 3: some responses to the Yankee stuff from earlier. I know
- 23:30Speaker 3: we've talked about this a lot, but people are like
- 23:32Speaker 3: totally up in arms with the with the volpy stuff
- 23:35Speaker 3: because it sounds like he's coming back to be the
- 23:36Speaker 3: short stop.
- 23:37Speaker 2: His season's going to start late. We got some of
- 23:39Speaker 2: the info yesterday. I didn't.
- 23:40Speaker 3: We got the info he can't swing for four months,
- 23:42Speaker 3: but we can't dive for balls for six months, so
- 23:45Speaker 3: that dips you into the start of the season. Here's
- 23:47Speaker 3: my main concern, and a lot of Yankee fans voice
- 23:49Speaker 3: this too. They said, Okay, is next year going to
- 23:52Speaker 3: be the oh, it's the first year off the shoulder
- 23:54Speaker 3: surgery situation. Matt McClain had that, right, We're gonna talk
- 23:58Speaker 3: to Will Benson coming up in a moment, not necessarily
- 24:00Speaker 3: much about that. But my point is, you do hear
- 24:02Speaker 3: that a lot shoulder surgery is a big deal, No, Joe,
- 24:06Speaker 3: it's no joke. He might he might be off for
- 24:08Speaker 3: a year, right, Like the numbers might be quite off
- 24:11Speaker 3: for a year, even from what he usually posts. So
- 24:13Speaker 3: that's where there's frustration, which I think is warranted.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Don't you think that's fair?
- 24:18Speaker 3: Sure, if you're gonna get a lesser version of what
- 24:19Speaker 3: he's given you, Yanks fans are like, Yo, this is
- 24:23Speaker 3: this is the spot where they're dialed in right now,
- 24:25Speaker 3: Like he was hurt, you played him.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Now he might be.
- 24:29Speaker 3: Worse coming off shoulder surgery, and you're still sticking by
- 24:32Speaker 3: him as your shortstop, which is the big position for them.
- 24:34Speaker 7: Yeah, it's the unknown. It's the unknown factor of you know,
- 24:37Speaker 7: how is he gonna come off surgery? Is there anything
- 24:41Speaker 7: else in there that we didn't see? You know, there's
- 24:43Speaker 7: a lot of MRIs out there that show one thing
- 24:45Speaker 7: and next thing, you know.
- 24:46Speaker 2: There's more.
- 24:48Speaker 7: We'll see. It's the big unknown factor and it's gonna
- 24:53Speaker 7: be a big talk this offseason about what they're gonna do,
- 24:55Speaker 7: and it's really up to the Yankees in a breath
- 24:58Speaker 7: to figure that out. I don't have this lightest clue.
- 25:00Speaker 7: I love Anthony Bolpe. I think he's a great kid.
- 25:02Speaker 7: I think he's good, and I think when he's healthy
- 25:05Speaker 7: he's a really good shortstop. He's a gold glover. As
- 25:07Speaker 7: we know, we know he can hit. I feel like
- 25:10Speaker 7: part of that whole thing was because of the shoulder.
- 25:12Speaker 7: He's pulling off a lot more too as well. So
- 25:15Speaker 7: was he overcompensating We don't know, So it's something this offseason.
- 25:19Speaker 7: It's gonna be a big storyline.
- 25:21Speaker 3: By far the most talked about Adie ops plus guy
- 25:24Speaker 3: in baseball history. But I'm sure it'll keep coming up.
- 25:29Speaker 3: I think we got one minute some comments about our
- 25:32Speaker 3: Philly stuff just now. Don said, will Dombrowski be elite again?
- 25:36Speaker 3: Can he rise to the next level. I think he's
- 25:38Speaker 3: done a pretty good job, but yeah, I would say
- 25:40Speaker 3: he has to maybe shake things up and armand said
- 25:42Speaker 3: sugar Do mac alb reported Castianos likely to be traded
- 25:47Speaker 3: or released.
- 25:48Speaker 2: I think he'll get del Kratz.
- 25:49Speaker 3: I mean they'll eat some money, but I think another
- 25:52Speaker 3: team will take that back.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Hot Coinner time just a couple of minutes, like one
- 25:57Speaker 2: quick thought each.
- 26:00Speaker 3: John Hayman writing about how Schooble has a big gap
- 26:03Speaker 3: between what he's thinking what the Tigers are thinking. Evan
- 26:05Speaker 3: Petzold and the Detraite Free Press also wrote about it
- 26:08Speaker 3: and said that John Hammond goes two hundred and fifty
- 26:14Speaker 3: million apart in negotiations. Estimated was that the Tigers offer
- 26:18Speaker 3: after the twenty four season, and the projection that Schooble
- 26:21Speaker 3: will command at least four hundred million free agency following
- 26:24Speaker 3: twenty twenty six and his story Evans he said it
- 26:28Speaker 3: might even be three hundred million apart. I mean, that's
- 26:32Speaker 3: a lot to be a part on. So it sounds
- 26:35Speaker 3: like they might trade him. You're gonna let him go
- 26:39Speaker 3: into his last year.
- 26:40Speaker 7: I mean you're usually right on these things. But if
- 26:43Speaker 7: I'm the Tigers, I'm trying anything I can do to
- 26:46Speaker 7: keep this guy. He's been a staple. He's an incredible
- 26:49Speaker 7: left handed pitcher. He's ridiculously good. This could leave a
- 26:53Speaker 7: bad taste, you know how this goes, especially with bars clients.
- 26:56Speaker 7: Man like, he knows what they should be getting and
- 26:59Speaker 7: he's not going to steer away from telling them this
- 27:02Speaker 7: is what it is and see what happens. But it
- 27:04Speaker 7: makes me nervous because you know, this is one of
- 27:08Speaker 7: the bigger names after next year, right that might be
- 27:12Speaker 7: on the market. If not, yeah, they trade you, I
- 27:14Speaker 7: mean that I don't think they should. I think they
- 27:16Speaker 7: should find any which way to keep this guy in
- 27:18Speaker 7: this team.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Kratz.
- 27:19Speaker 3: They can afford him, of course, but I do think
- 27:21Speaker 3: you have a little bit of like where the Mets
- 27:23Speaker 3: went last offseason, not buying, spending hundreds of millions on
- 27:27Speaker 3: starters and the Schoogle sides like, oh, hey, have you
- 27:31Speaker 3: been watching the playoffs?
- 27:34Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 27:35Speaker 6: Two hundred and fifty million apart on a pitcher's contract.
- 27:39Speaker 6: What pictures are making over two hundred and fifty million dollars? Yes, Yamamoto,
- 27:46Speaker 6: that is it. Sorry, they weren't two hundred and fifty million.
- 27:49Speaker 6: This is I'm gonna say, fake news. That's that's my
- 27:53Speaker 6: whole reaction to it, because Boris doesn't even A team
- 27:56Speaker 6: would be asinine to think that Boris is going to
- 27:59Speaker 6: sign a early extension, So don't offer him anything. Don't
- 28:03Speaker 6: give him anything to like take and say, okay, well
- 28:07Speaker 6: I'll go and do this. Like I have a hard
- 28:08Speaker 6: time believing the Tigers were that naive to think that
- 28:12Speaker 6: Boris would accept an extension, and then the fact that
- 28:15Speaker 6: they're two hundred and fifty million apart.
- 28:19Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 28:20Speaker 6: I'm not I'm not buying it. And there's no reason too.
- 28:23Speaker 6: You still got him, You still got him. He's pitching
- 28:26Speaker 6: for your team. He's gonna hit free agency, he's earned that.
- 28:30Speaker 6: Go big for him a free agency. But two hundred
- 28:32Speaker 6: and fifty apart? What did they offer twenty million? And
- 28:34Speaker 6: Boris wanted two seventy, like, I don't think so is.
- 28:39Speaker 2: It two fifty and they want five hundred. I don't know.
- 28:41Speaker 2: We're gonna have plenty of time to talk about this
- 28:43Speaker 2: in the opposition.
- 28:43Speaker 7: I don't think.
- 28:44Speaker 3: I know, I know, you know, I'm I'm kind of like, eh, hey,
- 28:49Speaker 3: Yadi put this out on Instagram.
- 28:51Speaker 2: He's ready. He's ready.
- 28:52Speaker 3: A few years on the sidelines and just poking his
- 28:55Speaker 3: head into a dugout. He's ready to manage. He is
- 28:59Speaker 3: officially declared, laying himself assignable manager.
- 29:03Speaker 2: He might get signed.
- 29:04Speaker 7: It's a great time too, A ton of openings, a
- 29:07Speaker 7: ton I think there's nothing. I think you'd be a
- 29:10Speaker 7: solid manager, and I think this is the perfect time
- 29:13Speaker 7: to come out and say that.
- 29:13Speaker 1: M h.
- 29:15Speaker 6: I'd love to be a manager and have him as
- 29:17Speaker 6: my bench coach. I wonder, I wonder how he's gonna do.
- 29:21Speaker 6: I wonder how he's gonna do in the media sense,
- 29:24Speaker 6: because there's a ton of that kind of stuff. He
- 29:28Speaker 6: wasn't that open as a player, and I'm trying to
- 29:30Speaker 6: I'm racking my brain to think of like significant players
- 29:34Speaker 6: that are managers now that didn't have that like media
- 29:38Speaker 6: where we have an example of him speaking out in
- 29:41Speaker 6: the media. He just didn't see it a lot throughout
- 29:44Speaker 6: his career and played in an easy market Saint Louis,
- 29:48Speaker 6: where it didn't need to and it didn't press him.
- 29:50Speaker 6: But that's the part that Hey, maybe this Instagram post,
- 29:54Speaker 6: look at me, I'm spread my social media wings. I
- 29:56Speaker 6: can do media.
- 29:59Speaker 3: Yeah, and bench coach might be a good gateway for
- 30:03Speaker 3: him to just get a feel for what the manager's
- 30:06Speaker 3: working with every day. And maybe it's a manager that
- 30:08Speaker 3: would even let him do some speaking to see it's
- 30:11Speaker 3: not the comfort thing. He's brilliant, right, I've spoken to YACHTI.
- 30:14Speaker 3: He's brilliant and he's super well respected. He for the
- 30:17Speaker 3: most part, hated talking to the media. Hated right, not
- 30:20Speaker 3: in a mean way. He's just like, nah, I'm good,
- 30:22Speaker 3: I'm busy twice today
