- 0:00Dave Hamilton: Business Brain, episode 751 for Casual Friday. I May 8th, Reward Yourself Day, 2026.
- 0:09Dave Hamilton: Welcome back. I'm back.
- 0:10Shannon Jean: It's Business Brain. What day is it? Reward Yourself?
- 0:13Dave Hamilton: Reward Yourself Day. I love that. That's good.
- 0:17Shannon Jean: Big fan of rewards.
- 0:19Dave Hamilton: Yeah, it's part of the charm life, man.
- 0:21Shannon Jean: Right? I've been hunting, you know, dealers looking for dopamine to keep myself moving forward.
- 0:25Dave Hamilton: That's it, man. Let's go.
- 0:33Shannon Jean: It's a good thing I don't have drumsticks. You'd be hearing them.
- 0:36Dave Hamilton: I have a lot of drumsticks.
- 0:38Shannon Jean: I know you do. You have constraint.
- 0:41Dave Hamilton: Some may disagree with that statement, but some bandmates specifically.
- 0:47Dave Hamilton: Greetings and welcome to Business Brain, the show where we take some ideas,
- 0:51Dave Hamilton: we crunch them, we dissect them, we use them to keep on living our charmed lives.
- 0:56Dave Hamilton: Our sponsors for this episode include granola.ai slash brain,
- 0:59Dave Hamilton: where you can go and try granola totally.
- 1:03Dave Hamilton: Free for three months there's a lot of t's and
- 1:06Dave Hamilton: r's that are that are difficult to
- 1:09Dave Hamilton: say try granola free let's see it's like there's there's a mouth exercise but
- 1:14Dave Hamilton: you can do it at granola.ai slash brain and also bitdefender.com slash brain
- 1:18Dave Hamilton: where you can save 30 on their bitdefender ultimate small business security
- 1:22Dave Hamilton: we'll talk more about those in a little bit for now here in durham new hampshire i'm dave hamilton and.
- 1:28Shannon Jean: I'm shannon jean i'm in northern california and i'm glad to be here for friday
- 1:32Dave Hamilton: I i am too i was thinking about i i had
- 1:35Dave Hamilton: uh a period you mentioned drumsticks and they're
- 1:39Dave Hamilton: a very personal thing for drummers as you might
- 1:42Dave Hamilton: imagine i mean you know like different sticks different length
- 1:45Dave Hamilton: different weight different balance to the stick different
- 1:48Dave Hamilton: texture to the stick a different uh shape
- 1:52Dave Hamilton: of the bead which is like the part of the stick that would typically hit
- 1:55Dave Hamilton: like the drum or the cymbal everything's you know it
- 1:57Dave Hamilton: all matters and uh i used a
- 2:00Dave Hamilton: company for a long time and then they went out of business thankfully the drumstick industry is
- 2:03Dave Hamilton: has all of about 17 people in it uh grand total
- 2:06Dave Hamilton: and so i was able to find where like the knives and the blades went for those
- 2:11Dave Hamilton: specific sticks oh and um for a small period for a short period of time i had
- 2:15Dave Hamilton: somebody else uh somebody like in their garage locally here making me their
- 2:20Dave Hamilton: drumsticks they had the right lathe and the right knives and because they were
- 2:23Dave Hamilton: custom for me he was like what do you want me to put on them.
- 2:27Dave Hamilton: And, and, and so I had one of my favorite quotes, uh, that, uh,
- 2:33Dave Hamilton: that came from one musician to another.
- 2:35Dave Hamilton: I was not involved in this conversation. It was from a bass player named Jaco
- 2:38Dave Hamilton: Pistorius to a drummer named Peter Erskine.
- 2:41Dave Hamilton: When, uh, when Peter joined weather report, which was like this seminal fusion
- 2:45Dave Hamilton: band back in the seventies and eighties.
- 2:47Dave Hamilton: And Peter was petrified because he was playing with these heavy hitters,
- 2:50Dave Hamilton: this like difficult music, big spotlight.
- 2:53Dave Hamilton: And Jocko said to him, he's like, hey man, don't think so much.
- 2:57Dave Hamilton: Just concentrate. You're going to be fine.
- 2:59Dave Hamilton: And that idea of don't think, just concentrate, I feel like there's good advice there.
- 3:05Dave Hamilton: It was good advice as I sat down to the drums every time to have this.
- 3:08Dave Hamilton: I had it imprinted in cursive on them or whatever, but don't think, just concentrate.
- 3:14Dave Hamilton: That's cool. I think it's good advice.
- 3:17Shannon Jean: Yeah, I did too.
- 3:18Dave Hamilton: For Friday, I hear we have a note from Jeffrey.
- 3:23Dave Hamilton: We talked recently and Jeffrey wrote in,
- 3:28Dave Hamilton: We had talked recently about Whisperflow. He says, I was listening to that episode
- 3:31Dave Hamilton: where you were talking about it.
- 3:32Dave Hamilton: He says, I've been using the paid version now for several months,
- 3:35Dave Hamilton: and it's absolutely transformed the way I work.
- 3:38Dave Hamilton: I certainly dictate all my emails now, and more importantly,
- 3:42Dave Hamilton: is I now actually do all the documentation I'm supposed to do along the way,
- 3:47Dave Hamilton: and I've saved so much time.
- 3:50Dave Hamilton: Besides the fact that I'm a terrible typist, he says, but other than that,
- 3:53Dave Hamilton: it's great. He says, it really does a fantastic job of transcribing.
- 3:56Dave Hamilton: Whatever it is you're speaking, no matter how loud or how soft,
- 3:59Dave Hamilton: that part is actually true.
- 4:01Dave Hamilton: In my particular situation, he says, we're in a HIPAA-compliant,
- 4:04Dave Hamilton: secure environment, and Whisperflow has the ability to turn on HIPAA compliance,
- 4:09Dave Hamilton: which means it stores all of your text locally on your machine,
- 4:13Dave Hamilton: so it never goes up to their cloud, which is critical for where he works.
- 4:16Dave Hamilton: He says, I've used other ones like Dragon and et cetera over the years.
- 4:19Dave Hamilton: He says, I've even used my phone to dictate into an email and then mail it to
- 4:22Dave Hamilton: myself to paste it into Word or whatever.
- 4:25Dave Hamilton: He said but whisper flow has absolutely transformed the way i work he says you
- 4:29Dave Hamilton: definitely won't regret the paid version for sure worth every penny well thanks
- 4:33Dave Hamilton: for that jeff that's great.
- 4:34Shannon Jean: Yeah it's huge and also has the ability
- 4:38Shannon Jean: to do corrections while you talk so if i say if i'm speaking and i'm like i
- 4:44Shannon Jean: don't know i don't want to say that change you to this it'll just do it so it
- 4:48Shannon Jean: doesn't do verbatim It's listening to you and it can make smart changes while you speak,
- 4:55Shannon Jean: which is, I use that feature all the time.
- 4:57Shannon Jean: I'd be like, no, no, let's, let's say it this way. And then it'll come out that way.
- 5:01Shannon Jean: And another feature I like about it is if I forget to like click into a field.
- 5:07Shannon Jean: So if you don't, if you haven't used WhisperSync, if you, you can set a,
- 5:11Shannon Jean: a keyboard stroke, I have my, I use a control button.
- 5:14Shannon Jean: Sure. Hold that down. any field you talk in, any text box, any Word document,
- 5:19Shannon Jean: email, whatever, it'll transcribe it. And it's like,
- 5:22Shannon Jean: I mean, it's really almost perfect. So if you forget to click in somewhere to
- 5:27Shannon Jean: record and you think, and you record it, it'll pop up and say,
- 5:30Shannon Jean: Hey, click into a field and paste. It's here.
- 5:34Shannon Jean: I saved this for you. I got it, which is awesome.
- 5:38Dave Hamilton: Yeah.
- 5:38Shannon Jean: Which is really, really great.
- 5:39Dave Hamilton: That is really great. Oh, that's really interesting. Huh? Yeah.
- 5:44Dave Hamilton: I need to mess with it more. It just, all of this makes it so clear that interfaces of the future are,
- 5:53Dave Hamilton: will not be what we have now
- 5:57Dave Hamilton: like i i think yeah i think the most basic
- 6:00Dave Hamilton: way to look at future interfaces is what we have with our our chatbots now with
- 6:06Dave Hamilton: with generative air like you know chat gpt or clodder you know whatever you
- 6:09Dave Hamilton: type into i think imagine if you will going to say jetblue.com you wouldn't
- 6:16Dave Hamilton: go to spirit airlines.com because you can't book a flight there not anymore yeah Well.
- 6:20Shannon Jean: Too bad JetBlue didn't own them.
- 6:21Dave Hamilton: That's another story. That's a whole other story. That's right.
- 6:25Dave Hamilton: But let's say you want to book a flight, right? And imagine going to JetBlue.com
- 6:30Dave Hamilton: and just starting to type and just say, hey, I want to book a flight.
- 6:35Dave Hamilton: I need to go here. Here's what I'm doing.
- 6:38Dave Hamilton: And it remembers your last conversation that you had with it.
- 6:40Dave Hamilton: So it's got some context. And it's like, okay, great, Dave, great.
- 6:43Dave Hamilton: The last time you went to Austin, you brought your wife with you.
- 6:46Dave Hamilton: Are you bringing her again this time? Yes.
- 6:48Dave Hamilton: Okay, great. That's exactly right. Right? And now it's like,
- 6:50Dave Hamilton: all right, well, I know that you like to fly, you know, like you prefer non-stops,
- 6:56Dave Hamilton: like all of those things.
- 6:57Shannon Jean: You like an aisle seat. You like this. You like that.
- 6:59Dave Hamilton: It becomes the travel agent we used to talk to 100 years ago.
- 7:03Dave Hamilton: Now you're just typing at it. And let's say you get to a point where you're stuck.
- 7:09Dave Hamilton: The web interface or this chat interface can't get you what you need.
- 7:13Dave Hamilton: I mean, it's going to happen.
- 7:15Dave Hamilton: Happens already now. And then you have to call or at least, you know, text with like a human.
- 7:20Dave Hamilton: Well, now that right in today's world, that human, you have to tell them everything
- 7:26Dave Hamilton: that you've been through up till that point, because they don't.
- 7:29Dave Hamilton: I mean, they do keep track of how you use the website, but it's not passed along to support.
- 7:33Dave Hamilton: If it's going, if it's happening in a chat interface and you're like,
- 7:36Dave Hamilton: all right, I can't talk to the robot anymore. I have to. I need a human. It's like, OK, got you.
- 7:40Dave Hamilton: And then it can summarize for the human what you've spent the last 20 minutes doing.
- 7:46Dave Hamilton: And what they need help with. And I really think that is the most basic of ways
- 7:54Dave Hamilton: we will interact with services in the future. I mean, I think it's all going to be voice.
- 7:58Dave Hamilton: And you're going to have profiles about yourself that you choose to share at
- 8:02Dave Hamilton: different times and connectors and all that stuff.
- 8:05Dave Hamilton: I think web design goes away or changes.
- 8:10Shannon Jean: It is really going to be interesting. And I do like your comment about web design.
- 8:14Shannon Jean: It will be far more personalized.
- 8:17Shannon Jean: Every site you go to, it will be different than somebody else.
- 8:21Shannon Jean: Yep. Right. Because the way you use it and the, you know, the feedback you're giving it. Yeah.
- 8:26Dave Hamilton: Yeah. It's incredible. It's incredible. Yep. The only thing,
- 8:30Dave Hamilton: and I might be saying this as someone who knows,
- 8:33Dave Hamilton: is the cost of the AI tokens on the backend to support all of that.
- 8:42Dave Hamilton: Because if you're not careful, it could cost you millions of dollars a month
- 8:51Dave Hamilton: if you have a fairly popular website.
- 8:52Shannon Jean: It makes sense.
- 8:53Dave Hamilton: Yeah. You have to be efficient about it.
- 8:56Dave Hamilton: And I think that is where it used to be web design built for a user interface
- 9:03Dave Hamilton: that was smooth and easy to use. Well, now we know what that interface is.
- 9:07Dave Hamilton: So that's done. But now you've got to be able to program in a way that maximizes
- 9:12Dave Hamilton: your use of ai tokens but that's just i mean it's fine that's like how things
- 9:15Dave Hamilton: yeah how things work that's true speaking.
- 9:17Shannon Jean: Of that so that's like the very sophisticated side of
- 9:22Dave Hamilton: Ai i'm gonna i'm gonna hold you right there pause me i'm gonna pause you because
- 9:26Dave Hamilton: i want to hear this conversation i want to be able to give it the time i want
- 9:29Dave Hamilton: to give it yep uh and what i want to do uh before we do that though is i want
- 9:35Dave Hamilton: to talk about our sponsors.
- 9:37Dave Hamilton: And, you know, the charmed life of entrepreneurs like us runs on trust, right?
- 9:42Dave Hamilton: Trust in your clients, trust in your contracts, trust in your inbox.
- 9:47Dave Hamilton: And right now, scammers are getting scary good at faking really all three of these.
- 9:54Dave Hamilton: One spoofed invoice, one fake DocuSign link, and suddenly you're locked out
- 10:00Dave Hamilton: of the business you spent years building.
- 10:02Dave Hamilton: And that's why our sponsor Bitdefender stands out to me.
- 10:06Dave Hamilton: Bitdefender is a global leader in cybersecurity, and their ultimate small business
- 10:11Dave Hamilton: security is built specifically for teams of 25 or fewer who don't have an IT department on standby.
- 10:18Dave Hamilton: One thing I really like is their AI-powered scam protection,
- 10:22Dave Hamilton: trained specifically on small business attacks.
- 10:25Dave Hamilton: You know, the kind that target folks like you and me. Plus, dark web monitoring
- 10:29Dave Hamilton: for your business identity, password management, unlimited VPN,
- 10:33Dave Hamilton: and one clean dashboard to manage it all.
- 10:36Dave Hamilton: The kind of all-in-one protection that would have Fort Knox sending fan mail.
- 10:41Dave Hamilton: Keep your small business safe with Bitdefender Ultimate Small Business Security
- 10:46Dave Hamilton: and save 30% when you go to bitdefender.com slash brain.
- 10:51Dave Hamilton: That's bitdefender.com slash brain for 30% off.
- 10:56Dave Hamilton: Check it out. I'm loving what I'm seeing there. I think you're going to like
- 11:00Dave Hamilton: it too. And our thanks to Bitdefender for sponsoring this episode.
- 11:04Dave Hamilton: And you know that moment when a meeting ends and somebody says,
- 11:07Dave Hamilton: OK, let's circle back on this next week.
- 11:09Dave Hamilton: Everybody dutifully nods. No one writes it down. And then there's radio silence.
- 11:15Dave Hamilton: That's the kind of friction that quietly drains the charmed life right out of
- 11:20Dave Hamilton: an entrepreneur's calendar.
- 11:22Dave Hamilton: And that is why I use and love Granola, our sponsor, on every single meeting
- 11:28Dave Hamilton: I have. Granola is an AI-powered notepad built for the way real people actually meet.
- 11:34Dave Hamilton: You take your rough notes like you normally would, and in the background,
- 11:38Dave Hamilton: Granola transcribes the meeting, then turns everything into clean,
- 11:42Dave Hamilton: structured, actually useful notes the second the call ends.
- 11:48Dave Hamilton: It works through your device's audio, so it slides right into whatever video
- 11:52Dave Hamilton: tool you're already using.
- 11:54Dave Hamilton: No setup, no hassle. I get to lean in, actually listen, participate,
- 11:59Dave Hamilton: and still walk away knowing exactly what was decided and who's doing what.
- 12:05Dave Hamilton: It's the productivity equivalent of finding an extra hour in the day that the
- 12:09Dave Hamilton: laws of physics swore didn't exist.
- 12:12Dave Hamilton: If meetings are eating up your day, granola is a no-brainer.
- 12:16Dave Hamilton: You can try it totally free for three months. Just head to granola.ai slash brain.
- 12:22Dave Hamilton: That's granola.ai slash brain to get your time back get three months free at
- 12:30Dave Hamilton: granola.ai slash brain i'm loving it i think you're going to like it too and
- 12:35Dave Hamilton: our thanks to granola for sponsoring this episode,
- 12:38Dave Hamilton: All right, Shannon, now what do you got for me?
- 12:41Shannon Jean: Now I got, yeah. So I was with some folks this weekend that don't use AI that much.
- 12:47Dave Hamilton: Yep.
- 12:47Shannon Jean: And I was watching them interface with ChatGPT and it got me thinking about
- 12:55Shannon Jean: prompts because it's kind of second nature how we've structured all these very
- 12:59Shannon Jean: sophisticated prompts or really give lots of, I wouldn't say sophisticated,
- 13:02Shannon Jean: but detailed, lots of detailed prompt information.
- 13:05Shannon Jean: So I thought it would be worth revisiting
- 13:09Shannon Jean: the top five mistakes that people typically make when they're trying to get
- 13:16Shannon Jean: a certain result from AI and they make these mistakes with their prompts.
- 13:21Dave Hamilton: Okay, yep.
- 13:22Shannon Jean: The first one is not assigning a role. That's like, there's no act as,
- 13:29Dave Hamilton: Okay?
- 13:29Shannon Jean: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. If you just say, hey, write me a sales email,
- 13:34Shannon Jean: this, that, and the other, that your AI is just going to be,
- 13:38Shannon Jean: okay, it's generic, average, whatever, you know, AI gobbledygook internet voice.
- 13:44Shannon Jean: So you really need to have an act as, act as a senior sales associate
- 13:50Shannon Jean: who closes six-figure deals through connection and warmth, not pressure,
- 13:56Shannon Jean: don't make it too salesy, but you're informing the AI to use a specific style,
- 14:03Dave Hamilton: Right? Yep.
- 14:06Shannon Jean: Vocabulary, even judgment when you're telling it, hey, don't pressure,
- 14:10Shannon Jean: all that kind of stuff. So that's number one, you need to assign it a role.
- 14:15Shannon Jean: And these are my notes after I was talking to these guys this weekend,
- 14:17Shannon Jean: trying to tell them, people using it too much like Google, too much keyword
- 14:23Shannon Jean: driven, different things like that. You have to change it.
- 14:25Shannon Jean: And the second one is no context, right?
- 14:29Shannon Jean: You're the AI doesn't know who you are.
- 14:32Dave Hamilton: No, it's dumb.
- 14:34Shannon Jean: Yeah. So you need to tell it. Oh, I run a, you know, I've got five people on my team.
- 14:40Shannon Jean: I'm a sales creator.
- 14:43Shannon Jean: Here's who my clients are. Clients are small business owners at doing one to 5 million a year.
- 14:50Shannon Jean: We tried Google ads. They didn't work. Help me think of other channels.
- 14:55Shannon Jean: So you're, you're giving them, you don't want generic answers.
- 14:58Shannon Jean: You need to give it very specific.
- 15:00Dave Hamilton: Yeah. Very specific. This goes back to one of the first things that I learned
- 15:07Dave Hamilton: using computers, which is the whole concept of garbage in, garbage out. And it's the same thing.
- 15:15Dave Hamilton: Specificity in, specificity out. Where there's a problem, and we actually had
- 15:20Dave Hamilton: this issue, which was solved right before.
- 15:24Dave Hamilton: Thankfully, it all worked out. but um we
- 15:28Dave Hamilton: uh were helping write some using ai to help write some scripts for uh our podcasters
- 15:36Dave Hamilton: ads a specific sponsor needed they needed to run like what the podcaster was
- 15:42Dave Hamilton: going to say through their legal department was a whole thing and uh.
- 15:46Dave Hamilton: And we used AI, of course, to write the scripts. And for some of them,
- 15:51Dave Hamilton: we did not vet what we got out of it.
- 15:55Dave Hamilton: We just put them in as like, oh, this is it.
- 15:58Dave Hamilton: It's like, oh, no, no, we didn't put enough. They don't like they don't know these.
- 16:03Dave Hamilton: The AI doesn't know like me. I wasn't one of the shows. But like, sure.
- 16:08Dave Hamilton: You know, when I do it, when I write scripts, like when I have it write scripts
- 16:11Dave Hamilton: for our ads, which I do, you know, just to kind of ensure that I'm changing it up.
- 16:16Dave Hamilton: All the time keeping it interesting for me and all that stuff
- 16:18Dave Hamilton: and putting little easter eggs in them for all of you uh i
- 16:22Dave Hamilton: sometimes it'll say oh you know i use this
- 16:25Dave Hamilton: product to do this it's like but i i did not use
- 16:28Dave Hamilton: this product to do this yeah like i'm not going to say that that's right and
- 16:33Dave Hamilton: you know it's one thing when i'm reading it off the cuff and it's like i can
- 16:36Dave Hamilton: just like navigate around it it's another thing when you print it and send it
- 16:40Dave Hamilton: to legal yeah yeah exactly exactly And that's a good cut. Yep.
- 16:47Shannon Jean: And it's another, you know, failure is not telling your AI the output format.
- 16:53Dave Hamilton: Yes.
- 16:54Shannon Jean: What, you know, it's one thing to say, oh, give me ideas for a podcast episode about X.
- 17:00Shannon Jean: Well, you're just going to get a bunch of text, but you want to say,
- 17:04Shannon Jean: look, give me five episode ideas.
- 17:06Shannon Jean: Give me a working title. Give me a one sentence hook.
- 17:10Shannon Jean: And who the target listener is. As well as, you know, how do you want to format
- 17:15Shannon Jean: it? Do you want a list? Do you want visuals?
- 17:18Shannon Jean: I mean, you really have to tell it exactly the output that you want to get.
- 17:22Shannon Jean: Really important. Save yourself a ton of time too,
- 17:25Dave Hamilton: Right? Yeah, it's going to save you a ton of time. And yeah,
- 17:28Dave Hamilton: yeah. But you got to vet what you get out of it too.
- 17:30Dave Hamilton: You can't just look at it blindly. Absolutely. Like both of these things are true.
- 17:35Dave Hamilton: Yeah. Be careful what you're putting in and be careful what's coming out of
- 17:39Dave Hamilton: it. And I I'm I'm probably one of the worst offenders at the last bit of it,
- 17:45Dave Hamilton: you know, because if I have a creating something for me.
- 17:49Dave Hamilton: I am doing it because I want to save time and attention.
- 17:53Dave Hamilton: And now it's like, oh, you're telling me I have to like, like look at this work before I ship it.
- 18:00Dave Hamilton: I have to read it. And sometimes I don't, but I get myself into trouble when
- 18:03Dave Hamilton: I don't like it's, I totally get it.
- 18:05Dave Hamilton: But, you know, it's like, it's not there. It's crazy.
- 18:08Dave Hamilton: It's not like, it's not like a human that over time I can, you know,
- 18:14Dave Hamilton: I can delegate to them. And then over time, just trust like,
- 18:17Dave Hamilton: OK, you know, show me the first couple of times you send something out. OK, great.
- 18:20Dave Hamilton: After this, ask me if you have a question for sure. But I don't need to micromanage you.
- 18:26Dave Hamilton: You know, if I have I always say if I have to micromanage somebody on the team,
- 18:29Dave Hamilton: that's either my fault or their fault. And we need to fix it.
- 18:34Dave Hamilton: And sometimes fixing it is we don't work well together. And other times,
- 18:38Dave Hamilton: most of the time, it's just a new process.
- 18:40Dave Hamilton: But with AI, you have to not only can you micromanage it, you have to.
- 18:45Dave Hamilton: Micromanagement. You should.
- 18:47Shannon Jean: That's right. And you need to give it constraints. If you don't give it constraints
- 18:52Shannon Jean: like, oh, write a marketing blurb about our new service.
- 18:57Shannon Jean: It's overdone. You have to tell it like, okay, under 1,300 characters,
- 19:02Shannon Jean: no hashtags, no emojis, right? No em dash.
- 19:06Shannon Jean: I mean, you need to give it, and you can use like a product like WhisperSync,
- 19:09Shannon Jean: just dictate your prompt.
- 19:12Shannon Jean: I mean, you can make that prompt a page long.
- 19:15Shannon Jean: So telling your AI what not to include
- 19:19Shannon Jean: And what not to do can be just as powerful as what to do.
- 19:23Dave Hamilton: What to do. Oh, for sure.
- 19:24Shannon Jean: Yeah. You need to do it. And in Latin, good.
- 19:27Dave Hamilton: I was going to say, and the nice part is you can work with it.
- 19:32Dave Hamilton: Like if the output you get is not in the format you want.
- 19:36Shannon Jean: Exactly.
- 19:36Dave Hamilton: Tell it, do it differently. That's all. Yeah.
- 19:40Shannon Jean: Yeah. That's it. And that's number five, one-shot thinking.
- 19:44Shannon Jean: Meaning you're going to ask the question or tell it to do something,
- 19:47Shannon Jean: and then it comes back. Well, maybe a year ago, it was tough to kind of keep
- 19:52Shannon Jean: it going. But now you can just be like, no, no, no, no, no.
- 19:54Shannon Jean: Change this, go back, that's close, but that's not exactly what I want.
- 19:58Shannon Jean: I want you to change this font or change this image.
- 20:01Shannon Jean: I want you to rewrite it in my voice or whatever.
- 20:04Shannon Jean: You have to keep massaging it, you know, and just the more...
- 20:11Shannon Jean: What's you know nuance that you give give to it yeah the more and the more i
- 20:15Shannon Jean: think that it's kind of weird to say but you should have very high expectations on the output in
- 20:21Dave Hamilton: That settle don't say in that you shouldn't settle yeah that that was don't.
- 20:25Shannon Jean: Settle yeah
- 20:25Dave Hamilton: Yeah it yeah just because it got it wrong the first time isn't the reason to
- 20:30Dave Hamilton: walk away like you can tell it nope change you're good yeah yeah yeah.
- 20:35Shannon Jean: That's the that's
- 20:36Dave Hamilton: The t part right when gpt it the t is the transformative part you get to transform
- 20:42Dave Hamilton: what it's giving you or what it has given you that's the whole point yeah.
- 20:46Shannon Jean: Yeah and think about like don't even
- 20:50Shannon Jean: think about them like prompt think about it's like okay well i have this new
- 20:52Shannon Jean: employee yeah they just it's day one they
- 20:56Shannon Jean: don't know the context about anything so what would
- 20:58Shannon Jean: i tell them if i wanted this specific output how
- 21:02Shannon Jean: would i explain this to them and what resources
- 21:05Shannon Jean: would i give them what data would i give them you know if if you have data that
- 21:10Shannon Jean: what you want included in whatever your ai is building for you give it to it
- 21:14Shannon Jean: yeah don't assume that it's just going to go out there and find the right data
- 21:18Shannon Jean: you're just asking the thing to hallucinate uh you want to give it the resources yeah yeah yeah
- 21:24Dave Hamilton: Exactly makes a big difference it really does yeah yeah,
- 21:29Dave Hamilton: But no, these are, these are, these are interesting conversations to have with people. I had.
- 21:36Shannon Jean: Yeah, because it's basic, but I think easy, easy to overlook.
- 21:40Dave Hamilton: I had a friend of mine who is a very, very smart person.
- 21:44Dave Hamilton: I won't, I won't necessarily. We've all used a thing that he has created.
- 21:49Dave Hamilton: Let me put it that way. Very specifically.
- 21:52Dave Hamilton: And, and with, he's a, a computer programmer. Like, so, you know,
- 21:56Dave Hamilton: he really knows what he's doing.
- 21:58Dave Hamilton: And we were we had a group chat
- 22:01Dave Hamilton: amongst a bunch of us and somebody was using ai for something
- 22:04Dave Hamilton: and it had you know produced something that
- 22:07Dave Hamilton: was not entirely correct and so we were you know tweaking it
- 22:09Dave Hamilton: to correct it and this one friend said i
- 22:13Dave Hamilton: don't need any help getting the wrong answer now i
- 22:16Dave Hamilton: knew he was being snarky and funny and all
- 22:19Dave Hamilton: of that and in the context of this group it
- 22:22Dave Hamilton: made perfect sense like it was like yep i
- 22:25Dave Hamilton: i see why he said that but i i
- 22:28Dave Hamilton: couldn't help myself my reply was you know i don't even
- 22:31Dave Hamilton: i don't need help getting the wrong answer either but i do benefit from help
- 22:35Dave Hamilton: getting started and ai is great at shortcutting yes when it gives me the wrong
- 22:41Dave Hamilton: answer i'm in edit mode i'm yes over the hump so yeah it makes a difference
- 22:47Dave Hamilton: yeah yeah yeah i i I agree.
