- 2:18I'm pretty damn good at designing, ladies and gentlemen.
- 2:21I haven't heard any criticisms or complaints from anybody.
- 2:25All right, so I'm going to answer a question and then I'm
- 2:28going to talk about a some very personal experiences and also
- 2:33atheist parenting. I've been having some questions.
- 2:37e-mail me and leave comments where they say so.
- 2:41Brett Keene, are you a Satanist now?
- 2:43I think some of these people are actually atheists who are also
- 2:47asking that question. Now that I'm hanging out with
- 2:50Satanist a lot, this somehow to them logically means I must be a
- 2:55Satanist. I guess if I hang out with
- 2:57Democrats for a week and talk to them about politics, whether I
- 3:01agree with them or disagree with them, I'm just automatically a
- 3:04Democrat. That's it.
- 3:07Kind of reminds me of the way it was in high school.
- 3:09If you hang out with someone who's not very popular, you know
- 3:13somebody will come along and say why do you hang out with that
- 3:16pimple faced obese kid for? Why are you going to lunch and
- 3:20sitting down with them ugly girls for you know, are you, is
- 3:25there something wrong with you or blah blah blah.
- 3:28No, I just enjoy people, and I don't want physical appearances
- 3:32or the surface. Bring me to a point where I
- 3:37condemn or judge people just based upon a label or what they
- 3:41look like or anything like that. I haven't always been the sexy
- 3:46beast myself. I haven't always been this
- 3:49handsome older man that my wife can't keep her hands off of.
- 3:54You know, I've had my days where I wasn't so pretty and beautiful
- 3:57myself, and thank goodness there were good people out there who
- 4:01accepted me for who I was, whether it was a bad day or a
- 4:05good day. No.
- 4:06But I do consider these Satanist and the pagans that I've spoken
- 4:10to, the warlocks and the witches and people of all different
- 4:13religions, a lot of them. I am proud to say I have made
- 4:17friends and that's the reason why I'm on the Internet, ladies
- 4:22and gentlemen. It's not just so I can make
- 4:23videos and make you laugh for 5 minutes and then I go on my day.
- 4:27I enjoy meeting people. I enjoy talking to people.
- 4:30I enjoy hearing about people's lives and how they dealt with
- 4:34tragedies or positive events in their existence.
- 4:37I mean, that's the human experience.
- 4:41I'm getting up there in age, ladies and gentlemen.
- 4:43I'm 47. I'm going to be 50 in a few
- 4:46years, and basically I'm pretty much if my health keeps on going
- 4:52bad like it is, I'm pretty much at 80% of the end of my life,
- 4:57you know, It is what it is. So I would like to just be able
- 5:02to get along with people, have good conversation and enjoy
- 5:06other people's company. Is that OK?
- 5:09All right. I'm glad you gave me permission
- 5:11to do that. So atheist parenting.
- 5:18One of the things that got me thinking about the whole atheist
- 5:21parenting thing is I've seen non-stop over the years where
- 5:26atheists will claim that Christians indoctrinate children
- 5:30by teaching your child that there's consequences for sins of
- 5:34the wrongs that you do in the world.
- 5:37By teaching your child that there might be an eternal
- 5:40damnation place where you go to suffer for all eternity.
- 5:44Or in my case, I am an Annihilationist, where I believe
- 5:48that if you don't make the grade, your soul is terminated,
- 5:53it's annihilated, and you simply don't exist in any realm or form
- 5:58in the universe. You're not even a memory
- 6:00anymore. You become nonexistent.
- 6:04But is it wrong to tell a child that a lot of atheists have
- 6:07argued it's child abuse, It's terrible.
- 6:09It scares kids. I'm under the belief that
- 6:13children are a lot smarter than what a lot of these people give
- 6:17them credit for. I'm under the belief that there
- 6:20are children out there that are 100 times more intelligent than
- 6:24some of their counterparts. I know for a fact there are kids
- 6:27out there that are sometimes, depending on what the subject
- 6:30matter is, are actually more qualified and more intelligent
- 6:35to do something than even their own parents.
- 6:37Give you an example, when I started out on computers, I
- 6:41didn't know what I was doing. I had no idea what the hell I
- 6:44was doing, but it was funny because I had some nephews and
- 6:48there were kids in my family who'd seem to know how to turn
- 6:52the thing on, operate the system, go in through the
- 6:55software, teach me how to open up an Internet browser, all
- 6:59kinds of things. Hell, I even had a young person
- 7:01teach me how to install a a virus protector, you know, one
- 7:05of them programs that protect your computer from getting
- 7:09destroyed. So, I mean, I could go on all
- 7:13day about the the quality and intelligence of children.
- 7:17I think it's it's foolish for us to say, well, someone's this
- 7:21age, so they Poss they don't possibly have any kind of value
- 7:25whatsoever and they couldn't teach us nothing because we're
- 7:29too old, they're too young. That game just doesn't work.
- 7:33I've noticed even since I was a young person, there was a lot of
- 7:37things about me that were special, Very intelligent, very
- 7:42open minded that a lot of my adult family members simply did
- 7:46not share with me. I did not inherit their traits
- 7:49of being close minded and you know, all wrapped up into myself
- 7:54or narcissistic. So it is what it is.
- 7:59But as many of you know, I used to be an atheist.
- 8:02I used to spend a good chunk of my life whenever I was a young
- 8:07man, going after religion, bashing the Bible, bashing
- 8:11Christians and all this. And it finally came to a point
- 8:15in my life where I ended up meeting the the beautiful woman
- 8:19that would be my wife. She's my only wife.
- 8:22I've never been married. More than once I married her
- 8:25whenever she was young. We were kids.
- 8:28We got together, we identified, we related.
- 8:32She didn't have hardly any family.
- 8:34I didn't have hardly any family myself.
- 8:38I mean, we had people, but some of them either didn't want to
- 8:42have anything to do with us or anybody else or they, they just
- 8:47weren't friendly people. They wanted to be hermits and to
- 8:50themselves and to try to get any kind of help or support.
- 8:55Yeah, right. You know, well as a a person who
- 9:03was young and then me and my wife, we found out that she was
- 9:08pregnant and all that with our with our first child or son.
- 9:14I remember thinking to myself while she's pregnant, Goodness,
- 9:17gracious. A whole lot of thoughts started
- 9:19going through my head that I hadn't really thought about.
- 9:22You know, how am I going to do this obviously, financially,
- 9:26what kind of things am I going to say to this kid?
- 9:29What kind of things should me and my son do whenever he
- 9:33finally is in the world with me and his mother?
- 9:38What kind of things are we going to talk about?
- 9:41And I found myself over the 9th nine month period in a very
- 9:48strange position. You see, whenever I was an
- 9:51atheist, I rarely ever reflected on myself and what I had to give
- 9:57or what I had to offer. My tone and aggression was
- 10:01always towards what other people believed in their views and then
- 10:05to tear them down and tear down their hope and their position on
- 10:11what they thought life and their world you meant.
- 10:15But I because I spent so much time doing that, I never really
- 10:18thought, well, who is Brett Keene really?
- 10:22Besides Brett Keene doing YouTube videos besides Brett
- 10:25Keene talking on, you know, various radios besides Brett
- 10:29Keene writing books. Who am I and what do I, what do
- 10:34I contribute to not only my wife who is pregnant, but what am I
- 10:38going to contribute to any children that I bring into this
- 10:40world? I even started having a lot of
- 10:43negative thoughts like this world is shit, it's garbage.
- 10:48Why would anybody want to bring children into the world?
- 10:51And I even started listening to some atheists out there who
- 10:54called themselves anti natalist, who believed that it was cruel
- 10:59and terrible and horrible to bring children into the world.
- 11:02So that really started like putting pressure on me because I
- 11:07started thinking to myself, am IA shitty person.
- 11:10All these fellow atheists are saying bringing children into
- 11:13the world's a horrific thing to do.
- 11:15Why would somebody do that? You know, especially if you're
- 11:19an atheist. At the time, I believed that if
- 11:22you brought if you're an atheist kid or a teenager, then you're
- 11:26probably going to get mocked or screwed with at school and your
- 11:30entire life. You're going to have to argue
- 11:32your position and all that. And although I found myself in a
- 11:35position where sometimes I liked arguing and debating, it's not
- 11:40something that my wife enjoyed. It's not something that I
- 11:44thought that my children might inherit the desire to argue with
- 11:48people and win debates and arguments and such.
- 11:54No, I I felt like at that point, a lot of the shit that I thought
- 12:00that I did really good and that I thought that I was
- 12:03accomplishing really didn't mean Dick in the grand scale of
- 12:07things. It wasn't going to help my wife
- 12:09any, for sure. It wasn't going to pay our
- 12:11bills, and it sure as hell wasn't something you could raise
- 12:14your kids up on. Oh, guess what your daddy did,
- 12:17You know, guess what kind of debate I had?
- 12:20Just what kind of, you know, how many atheists cheered me on
- 12:24today on social media that I'll never meet or never even know?
- 12:31So you start reflecting, you start looking at yourself in the
- 12:34mirror and you start saying, am I even going to be a good dad?
- 12:39I didn't have like a good mother and father growing up.
- 12:42I had a father who left at a very young age.
- 12:45I lost my grandmother from cancer at a very young age and
- 12:49she was the only person in the family who actually wanted to
- 12:52have anything to do with me. And my mother was sick.
- 12:55She was absolutely undependable and contributed really nothing
- 13:00to my existence whatsoever. So I had nobody that I could
- 13:04look at and say that's what it means to be a mom or a dad.
- 13:09Unfortunately, I made the mistake for a little while
- 13:12there, growing up, watch and leave at the Beaver and these
- 13:16black and white television shows.
- 13:18And I started getting so immersed inside of TV and what
- 13:22the hell I was seeing on the boob screen that I started
- 13:25thinking that that's what a family is.
- 13:28That's what a mom and dad ought to be, you know, You know Wally
- 13:31Cleaver and you know the Beeves and all that.
- 13:35The Jeffersons are these nice family members.
- 13:38But of course there were Al Bundy and you know, the Married
- 13:44with Children, where the family was absolutely dysfunctional and
- 13:48shit. There was, of course, all these
- 13:52other shows. Some of them were positive,
- 13:54others bad, but either way, I didn't.
- 13:58At the end of the day, I felt like none of these people are
- 14:03real. Is that really what I'm going to
- 14:06do? Is that what I'm going to base
- 14:07being a dad darn or a mom by, you know, mimicking some
- 14:11scripted bullshit that was done back in 1950 before they even
- 14:16invented fucking color? Is that really what's going to
- 14:19be me as a parent? A lot of things started going
- 14:27through my head. I knew that at some point in
- 14:31time. My kids, when I have children,
- 14:34they were going to ask me a lot of shit.
- 14:37Kids are they. They're commonly, I mean,
- 14:41anybody that's ever had a kid or you've got a nephew or children
- 14:45in your family, you know that they come to you with this, this
- 14:51automatic trust where they, they want to know things and they
- 14:55expect you to protect them. They expect you to care for
- 14:58them. They expect you to lead them and
- 15:00guide them in the right direction.
- 15:03They expect you to tell them also that they're special, why
- 15:06they're important. But they also want to know, why
- 15:09am I here? Why did you bring me into this
- 15:12world? And sooner or later, eventually,
- 15:15they're going to see the people around them that are supposed to
- 15:17be protecting them and loving them die.
- 15:22And then the questions come right When the kids stand on the
- 15:26side of the church, sees the body of someone they loved in a
- 15:30box. When they're seeing somebody
- 15:32lowered into a hole, you got that kid going?
- 15:35Where's Grandma going? Where's where's Barb going?
- 15:42What? What's what's happening?
- 15:44Why are they throwing dirt? Why is she in a box?
- 15:48Mommy and Daddy, or if you do cremation.
- 15:53I've had family members who are were cremated to try to explain
- 15:58to a child that that entire person that they used to talk to
- 16:02and listen to is now pretty much a fucking ashtray.
- 16:08Basically the ashes of an ashtray dumped into a fucking
- 16:11generic vase. These are all the kind of
- 16:16questions you got to deal with whenever you're dealing with
- 16:19children. And if you ignore them and you
- 16:24refuse to answer their question and you refuse to be there when
- 16:28they need you and back them up when they need protection, and
- 16:33you don't remind them on a daily basis how valuable and important
- 16:37and how much you love them. If you don't do that and
- 16:41eventually they're going to think you're a piece of shit,
- 16:44they're going to think that you belong in a fucking box and you
- 16:46belong in a hole somewhere because you're no good to them,
- 16:50You're not keeping them safe, you're not making them happy,
- 16:53and you bring nothing to their fucking life.
- 16:56So there's a lot of kids out there that they begin rebelling.
- 17:00They begin looking for people who care for them, and that's
- 17:04why you get a lot of kids that end up on drugs and then gangs
- 17:08or hanging out with these shitty little bastards who are also
- 17:12having some of the same problems in their life.
- 17:14And then the kids start identifying with each other.
- 17:17They go, oh, my mom and dad sucks you and my mom and dad
- 17:20sucks too. You know, we they don't want me
- 17:24to have any kind of fun. Let's go out and fuck something
- 17:26up. Yeah, let's light some fireworks
- 17:29and aim it at some old lady's house or some shit or wrap
- 17:32somebody's fucking trees up a toilet paper or whatever.
- 17:36Whatever creative idea comes into that head, you know, or
- 17:40hey, let's fucking you. Did you watch a speed racer?
- 17:44Let's get in a car and fly down the fucking highway and and see
- 17:48how that works out for us, you know, kind of like we do in
- 17:51Grand Theft Auto to have a little bit of fun, you know?
- 17:59So I I realize all this. I've always been a person that's
- 18:03very sensitive to other people's views and their feelings.
- 18:07Unless someone aggravates me or they intentionally attacked me,
- 18:11I normally start out 100%. I'm concerned and care about
- 18:16their views. I want to learn about this
- 18:19person. I want to understand this
- 18:20person. It's not until they attack me or
- 18:24I or I sense that they're trolling me that I start getting
- 18:28mean. But back to what I was saying,
- 18:33even after all that nine months of going back and forth in my
- 18:37head, how am I going to do this? Because I seen myself as an
- 18:40atheist parent at the time, I wasn't.
- 18:44Even when my son was in the womb of my wife, I hadn't.
- 18:50I wasn't even in the in the direction of going towards
- 18:54Christianity or theism at this point.
- 18:57I was still fucking far garn. I was lost.
- 19:02So I got no manual, no instructions, don't know what to
- 19:06do. But my wife kept on assuring me.
- 19:10She said you've got a good heart, you're a good man and
- 19:13you've always been good by me. So I I believe that you'll make
- 19:18a a great father because I would bring it up with her.
- 19:21I'm like, what do I have? What what can I give our our
- 19:25child? You'll be fine, honey.
- 19:29I mean, just the fact that you're even asking these
- 19:31questions and you're concerned about how to behave and what to
- 19:35say shows that you care and that you love and that we're actually
- 19:39communicating this and you're not just balling it up inside.
- 19:45So my son's born, and obviously for the first few years didn't
- 19:50have to worry about the questions.
- 19:51I just had to worry about shitty diapers, making sure the bottles
- 19:55not too hot, not too cold, making sure you burp the baby,
- 20:01you know, saying to the baby, all this kind of stuff.
- 20:04But obviously my son ended up getting older and the questions
- 20:08started coming. And during this entire time, I
- 20:13kept on trying to prepare myself and and think about it.
- 20:17And I remember whenever he was born and the same effect
- 20:20happened on me whenever my daughter was born to where I
- 20:24thought, my goodness, look at this little creature laying here
- 20:30under this warm light. And it just melted my heart
- 20:35whenever I seen the doctor give the baby over to my wife.
- 20:38And she's hold it. And I'm kind of standing back a
- 20:42little bit and all just going, wow, we did that, we we did this
- 20:49great thing, you know, Oh my goodness.
- 20:53And then of course, I made my way up towards her as well as
- 20:56the baby and rubbed the baby and ran my hands through her hair.
- 21:00And she's all sweaty. And I remember thinking to
- 21:06myself, something clicked in that very moment.
- 21:10It's very hard to explain, but there's just something that
- 21:14clicks in a man whenever he sees his kid bought into the world
- 21:17and sees his wife going through that process of bringing a kid
- 21:21in the world. There's something that just
- 21:23snaps into place where it says, I will give my life for these
- 21:28people before me. No one will ever lay their
- 21:32fucking hands on these two. I will give everything and
- 21:36anything that it takes just so I can see a smile on your face.
- 21:42I will fight tooth and nail. I will go through hell and back
- 21:47with gasoline soaked underwear just to make sure that they get
- 21:51everything that they need. That's the kind of shit that
- 21:54goes through your head whenever you bring a kid in, and at the
- 21:57same time you're just in total fucking awe.
- 22:00Everything's different when you have a child.
- 22:03When you see the sunrise or you look up at the heavens and you
- 22:08see the stars, There's an extra twinkle there.
- 22:11The sun is extra brighter. The universe seems as though it
- 22:15suddenly envelops hope. Things don't seem so empty and
- 22:20dark and and painful anymore. Suddenly you realize I may not
- 22:26have had a lot of things before, and there may not have been a
- 22:29lot of people in my life, but I've just proven to myself and
- 22:33my wife, proven to herself that we could actually build our own
- 22:37family and we can actually do things differently than the
- 22:41other people in our family. We could actually be a good mom
- 22:44and dad if we could just figure out what that means.
- 22:48We knew that we wanted the love, but what does it actually mean?
- 22:55Strangely enough, to it didn't take very long.
- 22:58Where during the few years of taking care of a baby, you start
- 23:02thinking every once in a while you start having these weird
- 23:06thoughts like huh, I wonder what it would be like having billions
- 23:11of children. I wonder what it would be like
- 23:14if I were an advanced entity that decided to terraform a
- 23:18world and see that with all these life forms and creatures
- 23:23and give them everything they possibly could want and all the
- 23:26resources they need in order to survive.
- 23:30I started really contemplating God is a Father and not just
- 23:34some kind of invisible stranger or absentee landlord up in the
- 23:38sky. I started thinking, here I am.
- 23:43I actually witnessed a miracle. I've seen life come into the
- 23:47world from life, and it started really changing everything for
- 23:52me, for my theological views, my philosophical views, everything.
- 24:00So finally it came the time when my son asked me, he said, and I
- 24:06told him all the time I said I love you, I love you, I love
- 24:08you. But he liked hearing me say it.
- 24:10So he's like, Dad, you love me. And so Yep, I do with all my
- 24:15heart. Why?
- 24:17Because you are my son and you're perfect in every way.
- 24:23Why It just the question started pouring in.
- 24:32He even asked me questions like where was I before I was in
- 24:37mommy's tummy. Oh goodness gracious.
- 24:43This is where you have to give this kind of biological
- 24:46discussion to a child. Or you can say, you can say it
- 24:52from a Christian point of view where you say, well, God had
- 24:55already had it planned that you would be with us.
- 24:59And that's a lot easier than going, oh, well, you were one in
- 25:04a million, you know, little tadpoles floating around and
- 25:08daddy's cul-de-sac. And you got lucky while billions
- 25:13of other little life forms ended up dying in the race.
- 25:18But you were strong enough to make it, you know, I mean, it
- 25:21sounds kind of kind of sporty, doesn't it?
- 25:24A little bit. But it doesn't really sound like
- 25:29there's value there. It's like, oh, I I got lucky.
- 25:32Did I? Very good.
- 25:36What happens when we die? I remember hearing these
- 25:39questions whenever we were putting family members in the
- 25:42ground. And I remember thinking to
- 25:47myself, you know what? Maybe I should share a couple
- 25:51different views and not just my own, I'd said at the time with
- 25:56my son. I said it's possible that the
- 26:01person is asleep and they're simply never going to wake up,
- 26:04and that the material and the property, their bodies will
- 26:08become a part of the universe again and go back into the the
- 26:12structure of energy that is out there.
- 26:16And of course, that question brought, oh, does the energy
- 26:20come back? Does it recombine itself?
- 26:25Can it come back in the same form?
- 26:27And then you start getting into weird shit.
- 26:29That sounds a hell of a lot like reincarnation.
- 26:32And then I thought of it. I said, But there's also people
- 26:35out there who believe in the concept of a God.
- 26:39So obviously the next question is, So what is God?
- 26:42Well, they believed that there was this entity that existed
- 26:45before the universe, that consciously created everything
- 26:50that is alive and that exists. And at some point in time, this
- 26:55entity will come to collect, and it takes back all those who have
- 27:00died, all those who are asleep, and it reassembles their energy
- 27:07and their components and everything they were made-up.
- 27:11And then at some point in time, these people get to join their
- 27:14loved ones in another realm, perhaps another interdimensional
- 27:19area. So I found that it was a lot
- 27:26more interesting and it seemed like it was a lot more honest
- 27:30because not only was I telling my kid what my side of what
- 27:35could be possible, but I was also telling my child some of
- 27:39the things that I learned that could also be possible because I
- 27:45couldn't disprove a negative. And I also couldn't make the
- 27:48positive assertion without knowledge and full 100% grasp on
- 27:54reality that I couldn't just say something like this isn't real,
- 28:00you know? So even in my videos, things
- 28:03started improving. I realized children are probably
- 28:08going to be watching me. They're going to be listening to
- 28:10me. I should probably talk to the
- 28:13kids that are watching out there, and young people the same
- 28:15way I talk to my own kids, not treat them somehow different.
- 28:20I stopped calling religious people stupid, 'cause I realized
- 28:24the more and more I thought about what they were saying and
- 28:27what their beliefs were, there wasn't really anything stupid
- 28:30about it. It wasn't anything irrational
- 28:33about believing that there was more to the universe than what
- 28:37meets the eye. I mean, literally, the universe
- 28:41is supposedly 200 billion light years all the way from here,
- 28:45expanding down to the singularity that once existed in
- 28:49the remnants of it. And I can only I can barely see
- 28:53a planet that is in my own damn solar system.
- 28:56How am I going to sit here and tell you what realities will
- 29:01limit or allow you see? So at that point, aren't I just
- 29:08started telling people, look, this is my view at this point in
- 29:12time, but this is also the theistic view.
- 29:17This is what I've heard from Christians, Muslims and Jews.
- 29:21This is what I've heard from pagans and yadda yadda yadda.
- 29:25There was nothing wrong with it. I'm simply sharing ideas and
- 29:28sharing what I've heard. I'm sharing my experiences.
- 29:31I'm sharing why people thought the way they did.
- 29:35And it was a good idea because as my son gets older, he's going
- 29:39to end up running into people with all kinds of different
- 29:42views and ideas. It was best for him to know what
- 29:45he was getting himself into as he got older, so he wouldn't be
- 29:49surprised or shocked whenever he ran into people that had
- 29:52completely different ideas on his own.
- 29:56And at the end of the day, I told him, look, what's important
- 29:59is that you are happy in your life.
- 30:02What's important is that you feel content and that you are
- 30:06happy and that you're able to get along with people the best
- 30:10you can. If you want to survive in this
- 30:13world, then you have to be able to make connections, you have to
- 30:16be able to not have some kind of social disorder.
- 30:21You got to be able to accept that not everyone thinks or acts
- 30:25like you, and as long as you can be open minded, as long as
- 30:30you're willing to question yourself and things around you,
- 30:33then you'll be the purest skeptic of all and your life
- 30:38will be much more full that way too.
- 30:46So yeah, but even while all this was going on and I started the
- 30:54transition over to Christianity, I started having atheists say,
- 30:58So what are you teaching your kids?
- 31:00You know, are you teaching them about hell now or you teaching
- 31:03them that homosexuality is wrong?
- 31:06You know, are you doing the Westboro Baptist Church thing?
- 31:10You know, are you teaching your kids the stupidity?
- 31:13Do you Santa Claus still real and all this kind of shit?
- 31:18And I remember thinking to myself, you know, I was an
- 31:22atheist, what would you? And I even asked some atheists
- 31:27one time on my show. I said, let's say for a minute
- 31:30that you were a dad and you had kids.
- 31:33What would you teach them if they ask you where they come
- 31:36from? And the atheist said, well, I
- 31:39would tell him that we evolved from primates and you know, you
- 31:43saw the fancy evolutionary names.
- 31:46And I go, and then what? Because the kids going to go,
- 31:49why? Why?
- 31:51And they go, well, before that I was my ancestors were
- 31:55transitional thing that looked like a cross between a hybrid
- 31:58monkey and a rat. And then you know if you keep
- 32:01going back, we became amphibians, we're reptilian.
- 32:06And before that I was a fucking fish floating around in the
- 32:09water. Yeah.
- 32:11Why? Why?
- 32:12Well, before that, before I mutated and grew some arms like
- 32:16Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the sewer after being engaged
- 32:19and interacting with mutagen, I was smiled on the rock that got
- 32:23hit by lightning under some of the craziest conditions on the
- 32:27planet Earth. And that's how I came to life.
- 32:31It was basically Planet of the Apes meets Frankenstein.
- 32:34Lightning hits the dead inanimate object, it becomes
- 32:38alive. And voila.
- 32:43Well, kids obviously going to ask, OK, So what happened before
- 32:47that? Now?
- 32:50What was that snout on the rock? What was that?
- 32:53Why was there even lightning for?
- 32:56Why was the Earth going through all this bullshit?
- 32:59What was the universe like before anything lived?
- 33:02Darn it. These are things that kids
- 33:04really want to know. These are things that kids ask
- 33:09about. They want to know, you know, if
- 33:16you go to the movies and you whether it's a drama, a comedy
- 33:22or a historical documentary type of thing, or Marvel or DC comic
- 33:29book type of movie, they always give us an origin story, don't
- 33:33they? They tell us this is where the
- 33:35character comes from. This is why the character has
- 33:37its moral framework. This is why Batman behaves the
- 33:41way he does. This is why he has some kind of
- 33:43code. Superman's from Krypton.
- 33:46He comes here and he realizes that he needs to be responsible.
- 33:51He can either be a Messiah with superpowers, or he can be the
- 33:55worst thing that humans have ever dealt with in their life.
- 33:58He could be the next Zod, right? And that's what stories do.
- 34:03They help us build and express, help us answer questions.
- 34:07Also keeps things interesting, fascinating.
- 34:10I couldn't imagine what a world would be like if we didn't have
- 34:13our creativity and imagination. But one things that's really
- 34:18neat, as I noticed that no matter what crazy shit we come
- 34:22up with as humans, whether we're coming up with new religions or
- 34:26coming up with new ideas, or we're coming up with new stories
- 34:30for movies, no matter how hard we try, somebody somewhere has
- 34:37already done it. Someone's already thought of it.
- 34:41In fact, if you presuppose that God is real, then all these
- 34:45stories already existed before we even thought they were our
- 34:49own ideas. Isn't that neat?
- 34:52It's like a kind of like The Matrix or some kind of a in a
- 34:57dream, in a dream, in a dream type of thing, where the
- 35:02experience has already happened and it just keeps on echoing and
- 35:05echoing throughout consciousness.
- 35:12So yeah, yeah, so that's what I made the decision to do Whenever
- 35:18I was doing the whole atheist parenting thing, I figured, you
- 35:22know, why give just a piece of the pie for why?
- 35:25Just give my little narrow ass thought process of how reality
- 35:31in the world works. I mean, sure, I can tell my kid
- 35:35that he's a fucking monkey that evolved from a maggot.
- 35:38Sure, I could say yeah, you were nothing more than a fucking
- 35:41slug. And then somehow biology just
- 35:43put your shit together, right? Doesn't sound very awesome.
- 35:48And then I could just turn around and say, but some people
- 35:51believe that you are angelic. That you were a celestial being.
- 35:57That your life has intrinsic objective value to it.
- 36:01That you actually have a moral framework.
- 36:04And that as long as you don't go down the wrong path and glorify
- 36:10darkness and evil, there's an opportunity that you could
- 36:14actually exist for all eternity. And all those people that you
- 36:17seen buried in a box, you'll meet them one day.
- 36:20Providing they didn't go down a dark path themselves, of course.
- 36:25And kids understand that. You know, atheists make it sound
- 36:29like if you tell your kid that there's consequences, that
- 36:32somehow that's going to make the kid crawl under the fucking bed
- 36:35and be shivering and trembling, going, Oh no, Oh no, kids get it
- 36:41when mommy and daddy says, look, if you walk along the sidewalk,
- 36:45you'll be able to get to your destination.
- 36:47You'll get to where you're wanting to go, but if you walk
- 36:50out in the middle of the highway, there's a good
- 36:53probability you're going to get fucking smacked by a diesel or a
- 36:57car and your life will be ended in every ambition and dream or
- 37:01desire or fun thing that you wanted to do will end in that
- 37:05very fucking moment. That sounds scary, but if you
- 37:09believe that to be the truth and you love that person, you're
- 37:13going to protect them. You're going to tell him what
- 37:15the fuck is, right? You're not going to say, well, I
- 37:18wouldn't want to trigger them. I wouldn't want them to be
- 37:22nervous about the street, right? No, you tell them about the
- 37:28dangers in life. That way they can get over those
- 37:30hurdles and make their way around the obstacles.
- 37:34And what does it hurt to tell them?
- 37:36That there's a possibility that there might actually be an
- 37:39advanced entity out there that is actually paying attention to
- 37:43us, that is consciously watching and gives a shit.
- 37:47Or maybe you're one of these type of people who believe there
- 37:50is something out there and it doesn't give a shit.
- 37:54Either way, at least you're open.
- 37:56At least you're saying there might be something there.
- 37:59Your kids are going to end up thinking that way anyway,
- 38:02whether you tell them or not. When they get older, they're
- 38:04going to constantly question when they look into space in the
- 38:08universe. Is there something out there?
- 38:11If we're here, then it's possible other things could be
- 38:14here. It just makes rational, logical
- 38:17sense. If it's happened before, then it
- 38:19may have happened again. The place is big.
- 38:22The place is huge. Energy created us.
- 38:25Some kind of power source created us a prime mover,
- 38:29whether naturalist, naturalistic, or supernatural.
- 38:33Then it could have been done before.
- 38:39Give your children the tools. Don't teach your kids how to
- 38:43think. Give them the whole pie.
- 38:48And when I say teach your children and and lay it on them
- 38:54and all this, this information, I'm not talking like the way
- 38:58these LGBT people do kids in school or they feel like it's
- 39:02necessary to teach how to gratify people sexually and all
- 39:06this, I don't know. There's some things that you
- 39:09really don't need to tell a kid. That's not necessary, especially
- 39:13when that kind of experience isn't going to happen until much
- 39:17later in their life. And it's not a life or death
- 39:21scenario anyway. But you do need to tell your
- 39:24kids right away that there are consequences for some of the
- 39:28actions that you do. That's one thing I've always
- 39:32wondered about people nowadays. I really, it floors me being a
- 39:37parent in this day and age and hearing people say that parents
- 39:42are not allowed to question. They're not allowed to have any
- 39:45form of control. They're not allowed to inform
- 39:49their children that their decisions may cost them and
- 39:53cause permanent impact on their life forever, or at least until
- 39:58the day they die. Why are parents not allowed to
- 40:02tell their kid that when I had you, you were born a certain
- 40:06way? And this is what I became
- 40:09associated with. This is how I seen you from the
- 40:13moment you were a baby to this. I understand that you feel like
- 40:17you're different. I understand that you feel that
- 40:21you're out of place. But could you give it some time?
- 40:25Could you just give it some more years and see if you might be
- 40:29able to adapt to this? You know, they claim that in
- 40:32nature things adapt. People adapt, right?
- 40:36So why don't we give life an opportunity to do that?
- 40:41Why are we so into changing nature or trying to fight
- 40:47against Mother Nature? Why not just let things be as
- 40:52they're going to be? Right.
- 41:04So yeah, Yeah. It's just the world's confusing
- 41:12sometimes, isn't it? Why can't parents tell their
- 41:17kids? Why is it abuse to tell your
- 41:19kids there's consequences, whether it's spiritual
- 41:23consequences or in the physical realm of the natural realm of
- 41:28consequences? Why is it wrong for a mom and
- 41:31dad to say I love you for who you are?
- 41:34You are what you are later on in your life when you become an
- 41:38adult and you're making your own choices.
- 41:40If you decide that this is still something you want, then you do
- 41:44it. Just not right now.
- 41:47Not while you're a kid. Do you know how many times
- 41:51parents let their children do things and then the children do
- 41:54something totally foolish or stupid?
- 41:56I mean, fucking adults do stupid shit too, don't get me wrong.
- 42:01But your kid ends up growing up and they did something really
- 42:06fucked up to themselves and they're going to wonder.
- 42:11I thought you loved me. Why didn't you tell me this?
- 42:13Why didn't you tell me that chopping my wee wee off meant
- 42:17that I wasn't ever going to have children?
- 42:19Why didn't you tell me that? You know, if I cut this off, I
- 42:23won't be able to breastfeed my own baby.
- 42:29Our parents? Isn't that our job?
- 42:32We're supposed to tell our kids that?
- 42:34How did we become the bad fucking people?
- 42:36By trying to keep our children's parts together, To not let them
- 42:42hack off their own limbs and shit.
- 42:45Why did it all of a sudden become evil or wrong to tell
- 42:49your child that you don't want them cutting on themselves from
- 42:52mutilating themselves? Why is it wrong to tell a kid
- 42:56that I love you for who you are? You don't have to become
- 43:00something else. A lot of these disorders like
- 43:06gender phoria and all this shit, that's not permanent.
- 43:10That's something that a kid will end up eventually developing out
- 43:14of it. According to Science in the
- 43:16medical field, over 98% of people end up adapting to who
- 43:21they are and what they are, and they move along.
- 43:25Every kid has questioned when they see the little girl in the
- 43:28dress playing with Barbie dolls, and every little girl has seen
- 43:32the boy who's watching cartoons and eating Cocoa Puffs saying,
- 43:36Gee, I wonder what it would be like if I was little Johnny and
- 43:39little Johnny Sam. I wonder what it would be like
- 43:41if I was Susie. And it also gets really
- 43:43confusing too. If you favoritize a girl over a
- 43:47boy and the boy's going to say I wish I got toys like little
- 43:51Susie did all the time. I wish I got loved and got the
- 43:55attention that I wanted. How come Susie gets treated like
- 43:59a Princess? I get treated like a piece of
- 44:01shit and vice versa Because the grass is green, always on the
- 44:06other side, right? It's never when you're actually
- 44:09experiencing shit. It never seems like it's fucking
- 44:12good when it's on your end. Everybody else looks like life's
- 44:16a piece of fucking cake and everything is going great for
- 44:18them until you're actually walking in their fucking shoes.
- 44:21Then all of a sudden you start thinking maybe I don't got it so
- 44:24bad after all. Here, take back your bullshit
- 44:27life and I'm going to go do mine.
- 44:33Yeah, well I'm going to go ahead and upload this to the radio and
- 44:41keep it up on YouTube for a little while.
- 44:44If you want to hear more of my disturbing thoughts and ideas
- 44:47and shit, we can do that. If you like the direction I took
- 44:51in this video and you like these type of topics, make sure you
- 44:55comment to me and let me know. e-mail me, message me, say hey
- 44:59Brett, I like it when you talk about shit like this.
- 45:01I this is my thing. You know?
- 45:04This is my my fucking jam talk about this kind of shit.
- 45:08And I will. Or at least more about it,
- 45:13right? And still stick with variety and
- 45:15so on. I guess I end the video with
- 45:20this. I feel really blessed that my
- 45:23children have already graduated high school and they got out of
- 45:26that. They're already in the
- 45:28workforce. They didn't have to go through
- 45:30the cancel culture bullshit or the woke movement.
- 45:35However, people do get up on their shed asking them are you
- 45:39Republican or you're Democrat, who you voting for?
- 45:42Blah, blah, blah. And I told my kids a long time
- 45:45ago, I said even before Trump was a thing.
- 45:47I said don't fucking say it. Say that's my own personal view.
- 45:52Don't do it. Because when people ask these
- 45:54type of questions, they ask you for two reasons.
- 45:57One, they're looking for someone who validates their fucking
- 46:01beliefs and is voting for the same person they are, and then
- 46:06they can feel as though they did the right thing because somebody
- 46:09else agrees with them, or you'll say the wrong person.
- 46:13And because politics are so hot and fucking nasty these days,
- 46:19it's practically like getting into a war.
- 46:21You could find yourself in a 2 hour conversation with someone
- 46:25who is at the end of the conversation wants to beat the
- 46:28shit out of you because you either didn't articulate, you
- 46:31didn't express, or they didn't want to hear what the fuck you
- 46:33had to say in the first place. So best to keep this shit to
- 46:39yourself. And a lot of cases you may want
- 46:44to also treat religion and atheism the same way too.
- 46:48Somebody ask you what your theological views are.
- 46:51You should just say I'm a truth seeker.
- 46:53I'm open minded by damn near anything.
- 46:56If you got something for me, I'm listening.
- 46:59But don't like, start evangelizing.
- 47:02And if you're an atheist, don't go into one of your fucking
- 47:04stupid speeches. Let the person get to know you
- 47:08as a person first. Don't identify as the very thing
- 47:13that you claim to believe in. I see a lot of people doing
- 47:16that. I rarely ever see names on
- 47:20Twitter or on the Internet anymore.
- 47:23I see people calling themselves by their lack of belief.
- 47:28They say I'm atheist, Bob, I'm Christian, blah blah blah.
- 47:33They don't just say I'm this person who just so happens they
- 47:37have this philosophy and views. It's always the the label comes
- 47:43first and my goodness, how many times are we going to fucking
- 47:47pigeonhole each other with that? How many times have we got a
- 47:51Dyer on the hill of what title we wear?
- 47:54Bullshit. I'm just really blessed.
- 48:00My kids didn't get corrupted by all the bullshit out there.
- 48:04My wife and I were able to put all of our positive, good
- 48:08hearted stuff into our kids. And our kids are able to
- 48:13circumvent and be able to think about how to deal with equations
- 48:18and problems and puzzles and riddles in life.
- 48:21And they're able to do that on their own.
- 48:23And they also know that they're so loved and valued so that they
- 48:27need help as long as I'm alive as well as their mother will be
- 48:32there and we will try to help them through any process.
- 48:38And that's really the best you can do.
- 48:41It's not about how much money you have.
- 48:43It's not how fancy your fucking house is.
- 48:45It's not not about how many cars you got get or how many
- 48:48restaurants you go to every fucking week or whatever.
- 48:52It's about, Am I allowed? Do people care about me?
- 48:57And do I mean something in this universe?
- 49:00Do I play a role? Do I have value?
- 49:05And does it all matter at all? At the end of the day, all
- 49:14right, God bless.
