- 0:35Speaker 1: What's up, brother?
- 0:37Speaker 2: Happy Wednesday, man, I am psyched and ready to talk.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Some college ball baby.
- 0:43Speaker 1: It was a good week Rough week for my Tigers, which we'll certainly touch on, but overall, in general, it was a fun, exciting week.
- 0:49Speaker 1: College football Last.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Jump into how you live in, man.
- 0:52Speaker 1: How's your week going?
- 0:53Speaker 1: How's everything else Anything interesting?
- 0:55Speaker 2: Good man.
- 0:55Speaker 2: It's my favorite time of year.
- 0:57Speaker 2: It's starting to be crisp in the morning, it's fall, it's it's getting towards spooky season, so I'm excited.
- 1:03Speaker 1: This is true.
- 1:03Speaker 1: It's also like Pete sports living.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Playoff baseball started last night, which is sweet.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Nba and HL right around the corner.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Nfl is wrapping up.
- 1:11Speaker 1: So if you're a sports fan, obviously you and I are like October.
- 1:14Speaker 1: This is like prime season for all the good stuff.
- 1:17Speaker 1: So that's awesome.
- 1:18Speaker 1: That said, let's let's jump into what happened this previous week Five.
- 1:22Speaker 1: I just want to open up with my initial, just overall reaction.
- 1:26Speaker 1: No team deserves to be number one.
- 1:28Speaker 1: I just there is not a number one team.
- 1:32Speaker 1: It's Georgia, by default.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Michigan's erased a bunch of nobodies.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I what do we?
- 1:37Speaker 1: There's, no, there's no superior team so far.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Five weeks in.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that there's.
- 1:43Speaker 2: There's not a team that separated itself.
- 1:45Speaker 2: You know you could give Washington a little bit of love there.
- 1:49Speaker 2: But yeah, I think we're still very much in a season of parody.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Yeah and like not to say it doesn't really matter because week five and everything's will get sorted out.
- 2:00Speaker 1: But just as I can't remember the last time we've been this far into a season and there has not been usually it's Alabama or just a juggernaut who's just like oh, they are clearly much better than everybody else at every position on the field and Georgia was that the last two years but they don't.
- 2:15Speaker 1: They look vulnerable against Auburn.
- 2:17Speaker 1: They look very, very gettable.
- 2:19Speaker 1: They've got a tough match up with Kentucky, which we'll talk about first off.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Let's go ahead and show you have to remember to that last year Georgia sleptwalk through like half the season and we were every week.
- 2:28Speaker 2: We were kind of like, what is this Georgia team, what is this Georgia team?
- 2:31Speaker 1: And then they turned it on and this is, that's very true, but it felt like they didn't have the time like now that their schedule so soft because the Oklahoma game being canceled they really have all the time in the world to figure it out.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I mean, I wouldn't be surprised at all.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Like you said, in four weeks from now Georgia evolves into this thing that's just killing people.
- 2:49Speaker 1: But for right now, which just hasn't been that, and they've sleptwalk through five games and like I'm, it's getting to be long enough now where it's just like maybe this is what they are, maybe Georgia is just not that great team.
- 3:00Speaker 1: They've lost, I don't know, 35 guys.
- 3:02Speaker 1: The NFL last two years kind of tough to hit.
- 3:05Speaker 1: They'll take that one on the chin, so yeah yeah, you're right.
- 3:08Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Let's jump right into the action.
- 3:09Speaker 1: I want to talk about quickly, about Kentucky just running all over Florida.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Kentucky 36 carries, 329 yards, 9.1 yards, clip, three touchdowns.
- 3:19Speaker 1: This Kentucky team is pretty good.
- 3:21Speaker 1: They need a little bit more at a Devon leary.
- 3:23Speaker 1: But the way they were able to just push around Florida they ran that gap scheme all day where they just had guards guys pulling Florida is so bad at the second and third level they just couldn't do anything to stop it.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Kudos to a big blue nation for just rolling Florida.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I was kind of surprised to see that, because Tennessee has a really strong run game I mean, this one's a different animal, but couldn't get it going to that level and Kentucky, just yeah, bullied them looked really, really good.
- 3:51Speaker 1: I'm of the mind, if you, tennessee, had their offensive center and I think they're missing their tackle as well I think that game would have gone differently.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Maybe it wouldn't have been about to be the difference, given the miscues and the craziness of the swamp, but it just if the way Kentucky was able to execute on the offensive line, which Tennessee is totally capable of doing, especially with those three running backs, they just didn't have it that night.
- 4:11Speaker 1: So I would be loved to see that game again and neutral side or just not with just Tennessee offensive line.
- 4:17Speaker 1: But I totally agree, moving on USC is not a serious title contender until something happens to their defense.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I'm sick of taking that.
- 4:26Speaker 1: I'm not taking them seriously.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I don't care.
- 4:27Speaker 1: The cable aims is probably the Heisman number one winner again.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I just I can't take them seriously with the bazzer defenses.
- 4:33Speaker 2: See, I disagree, I disagree, you still have to take them seriously because their offense is so explosive.
- 4:38Speaker 2: I mean you, yeah, I hear what you're saying and you know you have to play balanced football and you have to have a defense and in the past you know you haven't been able to just outscore folks.
- 4:48Speaker 2: But all it takes is, I mean, they're going to, they're going to get through the regular season probably, and all it takes is one game.
- 4:55Speaker 2: You know you put up 60, or defense gets a couple turnovers.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I mean, there's carnage coming.
- 5:03Speaker 1: We are.
- 5:03Speaker 1: There's going to be madness breaking out here Pretty soon.
- 5:06Speaker 1: We're going to get the US organs game organ, matchup organ you dub, and, like you know, the.
- 5:10Speaker 1: The four or five games that USC has had so far just haven't really mattered, and there is something to be said, given how much talent they have on that defense, maybe they just haven't turned it on.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Here's a fun fact Did you know that USC leads the country and tackles for loss with 41?
- 5:22Speaker 1: So as bad as our defense is doing, I don't know how to analyze that Like there's playing aggressive shooting gaps, but just like they have no discipline whatsoever as well, like you, know yeah, I think it's, it's.
- 5:33Speaker 2: They're trying to be a kind of the opposite of a bend Don't break.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Basically, it's kind of like an all or nothing, you know, creating turnovers, trying to be aggressive, because when you're scoring that many points, it's all about possessions.
- 5:49Speaker 2: You know, if you can take away one or two possessions from the other team, you're just going to score them.
- 5:54Speaker 1: It reminds me of the 2009 Saints when they won the Super Bowl.
- 5:56Speaker 1: They that same.
- 5:56Speaker 1: There's obviously the same defense.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Of course, I was put the whole bounty gate aside for a situation Like they led the league with like 1718 turnovers some of that and they were just going for picks all the time, but also they were giving up constant big play.
- 6:09Speaker 1: So, like Ken, that, and Drew Brees was obviously dealing, because Drew Brees, pete, drew Brees was amazing.
- 6:14Speaker 1: So, like Caleb Williams, like, can he do that?
- 6:17Speaker 1: Sure, I just think you, dub and Oregon are just like they're excellent on both sides of the trenches, on both sides of the ball.
- 6:22Speaker 1: I just like I'm going to get past them right now.
- 6:24Speaker 1: So I'm having a hard time considering them for for real, for real, for real.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Until they figure out something on that side of the ball, I hear you.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Good for Colorado for moving the ball.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Colorado is a plucky team.
- 6:36Speaker 1: They scored 40 some points against that USA defense.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Again, his own.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Sure, sanders was way over mashed, like I just good.
- 6:43Speaker 2: They made it a game.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Yeah, they came back and looked ugly and I think USC kind of took their foot off the gas a little bit.
- 6:49Speaker 2: And it looked closer late than it really really was.
- 6:53Speaker 1: But yeah, seven point game was one possession game at the end.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know they were up what 34 to 731, 7 or something early one point, yeah.
- 7:02Speaker 1: It's just, it's not a good sign for a championship caliber program to be keep letting these teams kind of backdoor.
- 7:07Speaker 1: You like that, whatever you do on the flip side, utah, I'm also not going to take seriously until camera rising comes back.
- 7:14Speaker 1: I love you, I love Kyle winning him.
- 7:16Speaker 1: I love that defense.
- 7:17Speaker 1: I love how well they play and how well they are coached.
- 7:20Speaker 1: They are so bad on offense with without camera rising, I granted it to third and four stringer.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Those guys are not supposed to be there yet, but I watched every snap of that Oregon State game on Friday night, which is actually pretty entertaining for a little while there.
- 7:32Speaker 1: But you could tell right away in the first three series they don't have a chance.
- 7:36Speaker 1: There's no way they're going to score.
- 7:37Speaker 1: It's just not going to happen.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean they've been playing well.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Take the starting quarterback away from any team that's supposed to be, you know, a top 20 type team and see how they do.
- 7:49Speaker 2: The fact that they've put themselves in this position in the first place is pretty much a credit to you know their depth and their team play.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Oregon State's also pretty solid team.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Dj Oang Lolle really good, solid Again.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Not a world beater, but a nice shot in the arm for that offense.
- 8:06Speaker 2: So that's, you know.
- 8:08Speaker 2: It's not a bad loss by any stretch.
- 8:09Speaker 1: No, surely isn't?
- 8:10Speaker 1: I think it was.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure that game was in Corvallis.
- 8:12Speaker 1: And also Johnson Spitz has an awesome coach.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Oregon State still has really good offensive line and defensive line.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Like no, no, no, no, no, no, poof-poofing losing at Oregon State.
- 8:19Speaker 1: I'm just like Utah is a two-time Pact World defending champions.
- 8:21Speaker 1: I kind of had Utah as a backdoor playoff potential team.
- 8:24Speaker 1: There's no chance they're going to make the playoffs, let alone win the Pact 12 and delegate Camarizing back.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I just yeah, the second stringers.
- 8:32Speaker 1: He's out for the year.
- 8:33Speaker 1: These third and fourth string guys might be the future.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Give him a couple of years of seasoning.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Camarizing has come back.
- 8:38Speaker 1: By the way, did you see him on the sideline with his long flow?
- 8:42Speaker 1: He is also jacked.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I mean, if I get, he can't use the legs very often, but like he's been hit in the weight room.
- 8:48Speaker 1: So like physically he's like still ready to go.
- 8:50Speaker 1: I suppose I don't know.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a good looking man Speak.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Yes, he is very good looking.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Speaking of good looking man, did you watch the Notre Dame post game review?
- 9:00Speaker 1: Sam Hartman at the Duke game Also very, very handsome quarterback.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I will say Sam Hartman, he's just very good looking guy.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Feel bad for the Dukes, that was a really super tough game to lose.
- 9:11Speaker 2: They added at the very end.
- 9:13Speaker 1: I didn't know Sam Hartman had that fourth and 16 scramble in him.
- 9:16Speaker 1: That was a hell of a play.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I'm also really sad for Duke losing Riley Leonard for any stretch of time.
- 9:24Speaker 1: He is really really good and I don't know how good Duke is without it.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Yeah, he's kind of the major surprise of the season.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Kind of came out of nowhere.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Hate to see that end that way for their kind of run that they've been on.
- 9:40Speaker 2: We'll see what happens after that moving on.
- 9:44Speaker 2: But yeah, that game was much closer than expected.
- 9:48Speaker 1: I thought you, I thought Notre Dame was going to take care of business.
- 9:50Speaker 1: They certainly did.
- 9:50Speaker 1: I don't know if it was a letdown spot.
- 9:51Speaker 1: I actually, when I watched that game, I was like I just think Mike Elko is an awesome coach, which was one of my preseason hot takes.
- 9:57Speaker 1: I said he's going to get a great job and I think that's proven to be true.
- 10:00Speaker 1: They're just a really, really good team.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Duke might be the second best team in the ACC.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Is he the type of dude that likes what he's doing at Duke and sticks around and everyone kind of looks around and says like why did you stay at Duke?
- 10:12Speaker 1: And then he keeps them sneaky good for like three years, you're talking about previous coach, Dave Cuckliffe, who did that and Duke fans are obviously really grateful for his service and for a long time, former Tennessee off the coordinator.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I think, yeah, what's your time?
- 10:24Speaker 1: No, I think he is a superstar in the making.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I think he went to Texas A&M, got that defense playing at a high level.
- 10:32Speaker 1: He went to Duke, which is a tough place to win.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Everybody knows plays those dodgeball and knows that.
- 10:35Speaker 1: I know I think he is.
- 10:38Speaker 1: I think he sees himself in the Jimbo Fisher, Saban Kirby Smart conversation.
- 10:44Speaker 1: So I think Michigan State, I think we'll see who's up.
- 10:48Speaker 2: If I'm him, I'm not going to Michigan State.
- 10:50Speaker 1: I don't know if I'm Michigan State, but as of right now, that's unquestionably I mean we're a week five conference season that's unquestionably the job that's a fact.
- 10:57Speaker 1: But there will be, as you and I know, there will be three or four.
- 11:00Speaker 2: There'll be others.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Yeah, there'll be.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Oklahoma State maybe, although I'm not sure how big that job is.
- 11:05Speaker 1: I think Elko is on his way up and out, but we'll see.
- 11:08Speaker 1: My problem question is if that if that does happen, I think it will Where's Riley Leonard playing quarterback?
- 11:13Speaker 1: Next year Probably not that's who.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Yeah, that's actually a really good point.
- 11:17Speaker 2: He's going to be a.
- 11:18Speaker 2: He's going to be a hot one in the transfer pool.
- 11:20Speaker 2: I am.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Notre Dame's probably going to give him a call.
- 11:22Speaker 1: I could.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Sam Hartman is going to graduate.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I could see Alabama.
- 11:24Speaker 1: If things don't get sorted out there, he's going to be.
- 11:28Speaker 1: I mean, if, if Duke implodes with Mike Elko leaving, then that's going to be a conversation that I mean.
- 11:33Speaker 1: But Riley Leonard is going to be the hot name in the 2024.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Yeah, so Duke fans enjoy this season, and basically what we're saying.
- 11:42Speaker 1: And they're on a biweek this week, which really helps really well times, but then they're going to be without Riley Leonard, so it's like three or four weeks, hopefully sooner than later.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Keep it rolling.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Oklahoma took care of business.
- 11:52Speaker 1: They're legitimately good on both sides of the ball.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Hats off to Brett Venable's getting his hands through that defense.
- 11:57Speaker 1: That defense was so cute last year for an Oklahoma team and we gave them the scores last week for for a team.
- 12:03Speaker 1: That we think is good they are look like they are doing exactly what they're supposed to be doing.
- 12:07Speaker 1: They haven't played anybody yet.
- 12:09Speaker 1: I mean Cincinnati, tulsa.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Yeah, but they're playing complementary football.
- 12:13Speaker 2: They're looking like a more complete team in a lot of ways.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Absolutely, absolutely, and that's the end of the end.
- 12:18Speaker 1: And they, if we are to believe that Oklahoma is really good, this is what they're supposed to look like while they do that.
- 12:24Speaker 2: So, and this is the week we find out, this is the week we find out.
- 12:27Speaker 1: That's absolutely right.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Keep going.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Brock Bowers is the best player, pound for pound, in college football.
- 12:33Speaker 1: I didn't really believe it and I saw in flashes the way he took over the end of that Auburn game and the way he was just out running their guys, just shoving them off and just stiff arm and he's going to make so much money in the NFL.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Yeah, is he.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Georgia doesn't win that game without him, point blank.
- 13:33Speaker 2: So he took over.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Yeah, which is good, which is good to know.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Like, at some point in the college level at this point, when you have a guy like Brock Bowers who's like clearly an NFL ready tight end today and a given how you know in the tight end room the NFL is probably good tight end as well Like you can just force feed him a lot in the whole fourth quarter.
- 13:50Speaker 1: See, my Carson Beck was like I'm going to him again.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm going there again.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Yep, on a double team, I'm still going to him and it like clearly worked out and there was a number of balls that were highly contested, just tough catches and you're touching the catch.
- 14:02Speaker 1: He's just, he's like bringing down a house, it's just yeah, he's fast and he's.
- 14:06Speaker 2: He runs hard and he's got the hands of a velvety, soft roll of toilet paper and he's just a beast.
- 14:13Speaker 2: He can do it all.
- 14:13Speaker 2: I don't think I've seen a tight end in the SEC like him, since maybe like Kyle Pitts at Florida or like Hernandez, like somebody who is just can do everything and beat you by themselves.
- 14:25Speaker 2: He's yeah, he might be.
- 14:27Speaker 2: He's a guy.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Pits is good Is a pits is a good comparison.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Pits would probably a little higher end on the receiving department but Brock, Brock Bowers probably better, better blocker, more physical, but he is the high end, super, super, high end talent and other than pits like in the SEC.
- 14:42Speaker 1: I get spent a minute.
- 14:43Speaker 1: I can't think of a super.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Yeah, that dude's going to make some money.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Yeah, you don't get paid.
- 14:47Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 14:47Speaker 1: Texas Texas run game is legit.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Jonathan Banks 21 carries, 218 yards, 10.4 yards clip, two touches Granted.
- 14:54Speaker 1: They were playing a Kansas team, which is one not great on defense, and two Jalen Daniels was a very, very, very last minute scratch.
- 15:00Speaker 1: They're facing their back.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Jason Bain killed them, killed them, killed them.
- 15:03Speaker 1: It felt like Kansas was when they, when they pulled him, it felt like they were like we know we can't beat this guy, so let's protect our boy because it seems is going to go as far as Jalen Daniels is going to take them and they're like let's take the L here to try and keep him healthy or, you know, let him heal up for a couple of wins down the road.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I hated to see that because I thought with him, you know they had a puncher's chance and when he went out it was.
- 15:29Speaker 2: You know they definitely just were going to be outmatched everywhere he would.
- 15:34Speaker 2: He's the difference maker with the ball in his hands.
- 15:36Speaker 2: They can kind of hope, you know, keep you in it.
- 15:39Speaker 2: And just didn't work out.
- 15:41Speaker 1: It's electric and it's just good for college football to just have guys like that on the field.
- 15:45Speaker 1: So hopefully he's back next week.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Um, again, we're going to find out that Texas teams also get well.
- 15:50Speaker 1: They already played down, they've got the power to back or have a big win.
- 15:53Speaker 1: But obviously Red River is a whole other animal.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Dave Miranda, not dead.
- 15:57Speaker 1: 26 points in the fourth quarter.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Come back to beat UCF 36, 35, two and three on the year.
- 16:04Speaker 1: I was honest, I'm, I'm.
- 16:06Speaker 1: We've not been talking about Dave or Anna last couple of weeks because, frankly, it's just been bad in Baylor.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Um, I just I don't have much to say.
- 16:11Speaker 1: They're still a bad team.
- 16:12Speaker 1: This will be about uphill battle, but they're not dead.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Big, big win for the Baylor Bears.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Stick them.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Yeah, and UCF is a solid, solid program.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Um, you know Gus Malzahn doing some good things down there.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Uh, that's a good win.
- 16:24Speaker 2: You know, it might, might be a nice jumping off point for them for, uh, baylor, to kind of get the ball rolling in the right direction.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Yeah, cause, honestly, the way things were went last year and if they, if they continue to go south, I mean, if he doesn't make a bowl this year, baylor jobs might be the job, might be the next one.
- 16:37Speaker 1: I'm faculty.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Ah, I still think it's a little too soon for them that we're still talking about Baylor here.
- 16:43Speaker 2: You know, expectations are what they are.
- 16:45Speaker 1: It's true, but also it was part of me that really wants Baylor, uh, david Randers, to be rehired by LSU and break him back and solve our defensive woes, so like maybe you're living in a fantasy world.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Uh, west Virginia lost his opener at Penn State and has won four straight games.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Uh, I can't say enough about West Virginia.
- 17:04Speaker 1: That was thinking of hot takes.
- 17:05Speaker 1: That went terribly wrong.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Um, I had West Virginia.
- 17:08Speaker 1: I had West Virginia being the first major coach.
- 17:12Speaker 1: It's September 30th and he is still.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Uh, and the team, uh, mike, what is their final record going to be?
- 17:19Speaker 1: They are favored.
- 17:20Speaker 1: They are favored in almost every game.
- 17:22Speaker 1: They play the rest of the season.
- 17:23Speaker 1: They're four and one on the year.
- 17:24Speaker 1: That's incredible.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Uh, are they?
- 17:28Speaker 2: They're the team that's like nobody pays any attention to them and you look at them at the end of the season and they've got like nine wins.
- 17:35Speaker 2: I mean they still have Oklahoma down the stretch, since the Nattie's not going to be easy again.
- 17:39Speaker 2: You know all these games.
- 17:41Speaker 2: They've got a handful of toss ups left, so they could still go like six and six, but they could easily go eight and four.
- 17:49Speaker 1: I mean I'm looking at Houston, Oklahoma State, BYU, SINSEE, Baylor, UCF, all winnable games at this point, based on what we know about those teams anyways, West Virginia, but I mean not sure if I win and then playing at Oklahoma.
- 17:59Speaker 1: I wouldn't be superior as prize at all if they were eight and four, and Neil Brown has played himself right off the hot seat and has locked up more time in West Virginia.
- 18:06Speaker 1: So Kudos to the nears for being what we thought was a dumpster's fire in August to being a tough trigger, and they handled who they played this week.
- 18:13Speaker 1: I think it's like TCU and they are asking you that beat them pretty good.
- 18:17Speaker 1: So good for them.
- 18:19Speaker 1: For TCU, they won 24, 24, 21.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Nice win, Keep it rolling.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Air Force is going to go 12 and 0.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Boise State, I'm sorry, and the Frezno is also probably going to go 12 and 0.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Is there any world?
- 18:33Speaker 1: Let's assume these two teams are both 12 and 0, where the Mountain West champions 13 or playing for a playoff spot.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Man, they're both five and 0.
- 18:43Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 18:44Speaker 1: If you go down their whole schedule, their whole predictors, both teams are favored in every single game, except one where Air Force is playing at Boise, which is a toss up.
- 18:52Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 18:53Speaker 2: I don't think.
- 18:54Speaker 2: See, this is why the silver lining, you know, the nice piece about getting the playoff is you, can you get a team like Air Force that you'll get them in there and they'll get curb stomped by somebody.
- 19:08Speaker 2: But yeah, they're not.
- 19:10Speaker 2: There's not a spot for them.
- 19:12Speaker 2: They'll make a nice New Year's Six Bowl game and get curb stomped by somebody else.
- 19:16Speaker 1: There is.
- 19:16Speaker 1: I mean, the reality is that both teams are five and 0.
- 19:18Speaker 1: The Mountain West is actually pretty decent.
- 19:20Speaker 1: There's pretty decent G5 conference.
- 19:22Speaker 1: One or both of these teams probably falters once or twice, but it's fun to.
- 19:26Speaker 1: I just there is a path for both of these teams to be 12 and 0 going to the conference championship and obviously there could be a lot of chaos.
- 19:32Speaker 1: I mean there's a world where the SEC doesn't get a team this year.
- 19:35Speaker 1: I mean it's I don't think it's gonna happen, but I think it could.
- 19:36Speaker 1: The Pac-12 might cannibalize itself like B.
- 19:40Speaker 1: I'm just gonna say, as I can say, I said it, I put on the pod.
- 19:42Speaker 1: There is a world where the Mountain West Championship is playing for a playoff spot to 12 and 0 squads.
- 19:49Speaker 1: It could happen.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Put it out there.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean you're talking about an Air Force team that beat Sam Houston 13 to 3.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Yeah, Come on All right, mighty Sam Houston, don't sleep on them.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Very cool, let's keep it rolling.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Uw first prime looking human, only one by seven.
- 20:06Speaker 1: No, no touchdowns for Panix, I think our oh dagger.
- 20:10Speaker 1: PPP fun Dummy dipped a little bit first bad week of the season.
- 20:13Speaker 1: I don't really give them.
- 20:14Speaker 1: I don't really fault them.
- 20:15Speaker 1: I think it was Arizona.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Arizona was a plucky team.
- 20:17Speaker 1: They do some things pretty well and like I mean, teams are just you're allowed to have off weeks, but UW looked human for the first time all season.
- 20:25Speaker 1: I'm just a little sad about our people.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Yeah, speaking of UW, did you see this?
- 20:28Speaker 2: Taylor Swift was at a chief's game.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Yes, I've heard I was, just that's all I didn't know.
- 20:37Speaker 2: If you saw that.
- 20:38Speaker 1: I was speaking of UW, it's true, and also you know I you know it was nice.
- 20:42Speaker 1: She's apparently she's dating Travis Kels and Travis Kels can now put her on the map.
- 20:47Speaker 2: You know, I didn't hear that, yeah.
- 20:48Speaker 1: I don't think Taylor Swift was that well known, frankly.
- 20:51Speaker 2: But yeah, I don't know Now that she now attached to Kels, I mean Kels.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Taylor Swift's stock and just notoriety will immediately skyrocket.
- 20:58Speaker 1: So good for her, for for her brand you know, love to see it.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Yeah, which needed some.
- 21:02Speaker 1: You know, it was kind of she was kind of in the in the shadows.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Now it's in the limelight, so good for her.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Nice nice little boost.
- 21:08Speaker 1: That's a little boost.
- 21:08Speaker 1: All right, let's talk about some homers.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Let's talk about UT.
- 21:12Speaker 1: First I need to talk about LSU.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Okay, okay, yeah.
- 21:16Speaker 2: So Tennessee dominates.
- 21:19Speaker 2: South Carolina looked, looked good in several phases of the game.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Six sacks from from the defense, a pick six.
- 21:28Speaker 2: The run game looked really, really strong.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Another ho hum performance from Joe Milton.
- 21:34Speaker 2: But all in all, really good win against a pretty solid South Carolina team.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Gotta, gotta really get some things going.
- 21:42Speaker 2: But one of my, my biggest takeaways from that getting Cooper Mays back.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Dude hadn't played football since fall camp, came in and played center and played every snap.
- 21:54Speaker 2: I mean that's incredible, incredible, incredible yeah.
- 21:59Speaker 1: I don't have any other notes to add.
- 22:00Speaker 1: I'm so sorry for Bruce McCoy.
- 22:02Speaker 1: That is such a tough injury that looked I saw the film, what happened just painful.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I really.
- 22:08Speaker 1: I mean he's a really good player.
- 22:10Speaker 1: He does a lot of things really well.
- 22:11Speaker 1: He's a good blocker.
- 22:12Speaker 1: You can get him in space, you can get him on runs.
- 22:14Speaker 1: So but I will say, given the way Tennessee's roster is built, I don't think they're going to miss much of a beat just because those are two spots, both running, running the ball and pass catchers, like they're pretty deep.
- 22:26Speaker 1: So Tennessee should be fine.
- 22:28Speaker 1: But obviously, like you, just you just feel bad for the kid.
- 22:30Speaker 1: It's just a horrific injury.
- 22:31Speaker 1: It's gonna be a long road recovery for get him back.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Yeah, it sucks.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I mean, his ankle, his foot, was turned completely the wrong way and we're going to miss him, his presence on the outside.
- 22:40Speaker 2: He does a lot of things, a lot of hidden things that that really help the offense click.
- 22:45Speaker 2: But we've got a bye week, some time to get things right, some time for Cooper Mays to get back in shape, and then we host a and m in two weeks.
- 22:53Speaker 1: And you host a name in Knoxville.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Yep man, that could be a doozy Good 30 30.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Oh yeah for a game, the SCC game of the week.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Lsu goes to Ole Miss and loses in one of the most horrific performances.
- 23:05Speaker 1: I don't even know how to explain the loss 49, 55 gave up over 700 yards of offense.
- 23:10Speaker 1: This is the worst LSU defensive performance in SEC history and I is a breakdown on every level.
- 23:19Speaker 1: All position coaches on defense are terrible.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I Matt house's scheme is too complicated, I guess inexplicably.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Bad tackles, bad angles.
- 23:29Speaker 1: The message boards have just been just on fire for days and I don't really know what to make of it.
- 23:34Speaker 1: The silver lining is for the defense is we are loaded with four stars and five stars.
- 23:41Speaker 1: There is talent there.
- 23:42Speaker 1: It can get better.
- 23:44Speaker 1: I just don't know what it's going to take to get in the play better.
- 23:47Speaker 1: So bad.
- 23:49Speaker 1: On the flip side, offense is awesome.
- 23:52Speaker 1: This is the second best LSU offense in 30 years 2019, burrow chase, jefferson obviously being number one, but he's on pace to finish right behind that.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Jane Daniels has taken that other gear.
- 24:04Speaker 1: This is the reason they were talking about him for Heisman as the number two or number three odds guy, because he's putting up monster numbers.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Brian Thomas and Malik neighbors are the best one two combo statistically in the country, and that includes the studs at UW and Ohio State.
- 24:18Speaker 1: They're outperforming those guys and we're playing teams for state.
- 24:23Speaker 1: So offensive it's hard because God, you've got this elite championship caliber.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Win it all offense and you have this dog do terrible, can't make a simple switch, poor tackling defense and it's just maddening.
- 24:39Speaker 2: I think the thing I mean yes, the fun part is, you know, as a fan, you've got this incredible offense.
- 24:45Speaker 2: It's fun, it's fun to watch You're in every game and that's great, but it's maddening to see a performance like that and come out on the wrong side.
- 24:57Speaker 2: I think the main thing that I take away is it's fundamentals, you know, and defense, it's tackling.
- 25:06Speaker 2: That's not like, that's not a scheme thing, that's a, that's a, that's a want to and that's a clean it up because you're doing it wrong thing.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:14Speaker 1: I just don't know if something we can correct the middle of the season.
- 25:16Speaker 1: I just I mean, I totally agree with you, but like where, what are we?
- 25:19Speaker 1: What are we doing?
- 25:20Speaker 1: What did fall camp look like?
- 25:21Speaker 1: Was it physical enough?
- 25:22Speaker 1: Are we drilling?
- 25:23Speaker 1: Like who's what?
- 25:24Speaker 1: Are the other linebackers?
- 25:26Speaker 1: Coaches like getting these guys in?
- 25:28Speaker 1: I don't know this because there's guys who aren't ready on the snap.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Nobody in the defensive backfield looks ready to play SCC caliber football.
- 25:35Speaker 1: It's just, and there was so many breakdowns.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Like give Langkiffin credit.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Like we all know about Langkiffin, he has his faults as a coach, especially on defense.
- 25:43Speaker 1: He's he's he's a little prickly, I'll say, but as an offensive exes and owes guy, there might be nobody better in the college football ranks, especially in the SCC, of finding mismatches, making weird combinations, weird formations, like he's very good at that and he just had a field day on LSU's inability to make those switches, to play sound, fundamental, gap control football.
- 26:04Speaker 1: We couldn't do any of that.
- 26:06Speaker 1: The good news is I don't think there's any team in the SCC is going to challenge us like that again.
- 26:10Speaker 1: So like that's good.
- 26:12Speaker 1: But man, it's just.
- 26:14Speaker 1: It's just so disheartening out.
- 26:16Speaker 1: For 20 years, the gold major of LSU football we have been elite on one side of the ball and that's been defense.
- 26:22Speaker 1: It's always been often struggling.
- 26:23Speaker 1: So to see the defense as bad as this, it's like it's foreign for LSU fans.
- 26:27Speaker 2: So yeah, I hear that.
- 26:29Speaker 2: But you know, take, take the positives.
- 26:32Speaker 2: You got to offense this humming and you keep on rolling, keep on rolling.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Let's keep rolling.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Uva another week, another step.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Performance at QB doesn't matter if it's Tony Blunderbuss or Clangere, it was Tony Musket this year, Tony Musket this week.
- 26:44Speaker 1: 22 or 34, 247 yards, three touchdowns, one INT.
- 26:48Speaker 1: And they still lost Boston College and just got rushing fashion Run game 29 carries for 59 yards, two yards per carry versus Boston College that's tough.
- 27:00Speaker 1: They also gave up 203 yards on the ground.
- 27:03Speaker 1: I like what I'm seeing at the offense.
- 27:07Speaker 1: I like them seeing some creativity.
- 27:09Speaker 1: I like that they're able to mask the offensive line, especially in the passing game.
- 27:12Speaker 1: But just another tough one for the Hoos, so close, so close.
- 27:20Speaker 2: I mean that's the thing you got to hang on to, you know.
- 27:22Speaker 2: I mean they could easily be three and two right now.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Yep, I know that's not what anybody wants to hear, but that's so close.
- 27:33Speaker 2: No, I was thinking about that midweek.
- 27:36Speaker 1: I mean JMU, nc State and this one.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Like there is a world where UVA is a winning record.
- 27:40Speaker 1: They never really have a realistic chance against Maryland or Tennessee, which have undefeated in four and one Very good teams.
- 27:48Speaker 1: But there's a world where UVA is three and two and they're just their 0 and 5 instead.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Virginia Tech big ACC win hosted pit limited pit to 270 yards.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Total offense Kyron drones drone strike 12 for 19, 228 yards, three TDs.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Virginia Tech rushing 59 carries for 199 yards, which is only 3.4 yards carries but two point yards.
- 28:08Speaker 1: And that says to me that Brent Pry is going.
- 28:12Speaker 1: He is making huge strides to establish who they are.
- 28:15Speaker 1: He ran the ball 59 times.
- 28:18Speaker 2: That's commitment right there.
- 28:19Speaker 1: That is commitment and, honestly, 3.4 yards carry, that's not great running that's not great running the football.
- 28:28Speaker 2: They only.
- 28:28Speaker 2: They still put up 427 yards total offense.
- 28:31Speaker 1: That's pretty darn good it is pretty darn good and it's.
- 28:34Speaker 1: This was.
- 28:34Speaker 1: This was a.
- 28:35Speaker 1: This was probably prize marky win.
- 28:37Speaker 1: It is part prize marky win of this year, maybe of his tech career.
- 28:41Speaker 1: So today, at this point, it's this is who tech wants to be they have.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Well, I was just going to say it doesn't matter who it's against.
- 28:51Speaker 2: You know pits one and four, but a win is a win.
- 28:54Speaker 2: You take it and they needed it.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Yeah, they absolutely did.
- 28:57Speaker 1: That's all I got on week five and any of the read, any of the Redux you want to hit on.
- 29:01Speaker 2: No, we need to.
- 29:02Speaker 2: We need to keep rolling.
- 29:03Speaker 2: We got to talk.
- 29:04Speaker 2: We got to talk.
- 29:05Speaker 2: This week we got some major matchups.
- 29:07Speaker 1: So week six, I am calling this week the Challenger week and I want to tell you why.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Louisville, kentucky, wazoo, oklahoma, mizzou, maryland all undefeated.
- 29:18Speaker 1: All dogs, all underdogs.
- 29:21Speaker 1: This is a week.
- 29:22Speaker 1: This is like boxing.
- 29:23Speaker 1: You ever like boxing?
- 29:24Speaker 1: They would be like oh, you fight the champ.
- 29:26Speaker 1: And here's the challenger.
- 29:27Speaker 1: The challenger is an impressive 19 and two, probably beating up scrubs, but he's 19 and two and now we're going to see if he's actually good.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Yeah, this week feels like that.
- 29:37Speaker 2: I love it.
- 29:38Speaker 2: I love that analogy.
- 29:39Speaker 1: You know, one of these teams, a lot of these teams are like McNeely, that guy, that Tyson who erased in 89 seconds.
- 29:45Speaker 1: But one of these teams might be Buster Douglas.
- 29:47Speaker 1: We don't know.
- 29:48Speaker 1: One of these teams might actually knock somebody off.
- 29:51Speaker 1: So this is a great test of week, because all these undefeated teams Kentucky, louisville, wazoo, they've all done what they're supposed to do, which is handle their business, win every game.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Now the competition gets real.
- 30:01Speaker 1: So we're going to find out this week if these challenges are for real.
- 30:06Speaker 1: So let's go ahead and jump in the first one Oklahoma Red River Shootout neutral site.
- 30:10Speaker 1: They play in that.
- 30:11Speaker 1: They play it in the Cotton Bowl, the old Cotton Bowl stadium.
- 30:13Speaker 1: They play it in a neutral site somewhere.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Oklahoma got blanked 55 to nothing.
- 30:19Speaker 1: This is a historic rivalry.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Oklahoma Texas one of the greatest robberies in college football.
- 30:24Speaker 1: I've been hearing about it all year.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Oklahoma's getting six and a half points.
- 30:28Speaker 1: My read.
- 30:30Speaker 1: I think Oklahoma's getting disrespected.
- 30:31Speaker 1: I kind of like I don't know if they're going to win, but I like Oklahoma in the points.
- 30:36Speaker 1: What do you got?
- 30:38Speaker 2: I like Texas on this one.
- 30:40Speaker 2: I think again, this is a game that on paper you know it's a major rivalry.
- 30:44Speaker 2: But I just think Texas is too much this year and They've got too much defense, and I will be interested to see how Texas can move the ball on Oklahoma's defense, because that was that's been the question, you know, and it looks like Oklahoma's vastly improved on that front.
- 31:00Speaker 2: But I still like Texas, and you know whether they cover or not, I don't know, but I like them to win.
- 31:06Speaker 1: I think it's gonna be close.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Rivalry games are weird.
- 31:08Speaker 1: They're just weird like they are supposed to happen.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Post be better, post be good.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Out of body experiences.
- 31:13Speaker 1: I think Oklahoma is just playing with tremendous pride.
- 31:17Speaker 1: I think Venables has them playing sound defense.
- 31:19Speaker 1: I think they're gonna keep it close made pull off the win, but I think Texas probably wins.
- 31:22Speaker 1: I think.
- 31:23Speaker 2: I don't think Oklahoma's really been tested to this point where Texas has yes, correct, I think.
- 31:28Speaker 2: I've been through it.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Yes, and this is one of the things.
- 31:30Speaker 1: This is a challenger.
- 31:30Speaker 1: You know you're if you're, if you're Joe glass, but you're 17 and oh and your boxing career, but you haven't beaten anybody.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Like if you're good, so you're supposed to do, if you're fools, gold, that's what you do anyway.
- 31:41Speaker 1: So this is I'm saying we're gonna find out.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Challenger fools go see situation Oklahoma, maryland five and no beat, nobody, including our beloved Wahoos, unfortunately.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Um, they're 18 point dogs in Columbus.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Is that interesting?
- 31:54Speaker 1: Is is Maryland, I think this is kind of interesting.
- 31:57Speaker 2: This is the list.
- 31:58Speaker 2: Is this one's, this one's kind of juicy to me?
- 32:00Speaker 1: It's interesting, I you know Ohio State has left a little bit to be desired, at least on offense.
- 32:04Speaker 1: So defense is playing better than Ryan days ever had Ohio State's defense really playing.
- 32:09Speaker 1: So you know, and they're you know, maryland's three touchdown dog on the road.
- 32:14Speaker 1: I barely can move the ball and they can score.
- 32:16Speaker 2: Well, that's, that's what I was gonna say is, you know it's?
- 32:19Speaker 2: It's that big line that makes it juicy for me, because I don't know that Ohio State is that much better.
- 32:28Speaker 2: You know they've been able to win it in some of these low scoring games, that they've done it in kind of different, different ways, and I think Maryland might be the best offense they've faced this year.
- 32:40Speaker 2: So, yes, I think.
- 32:41Speaker 1: I think it's definitely true.
- 32:42Speaker 1: So Tunga by law, last go around and he's got.
- 32:46Speaker 1: They've got weapons, they've got guys.
- 32:47Speaker 1: We still haven't really seen a lot out of Amica and Marvin Harrison.
- 32:50Speaker 1: I don't I mean Maryland's defense will be overmatched.
- 32:53Speaker 1: The question, yeah, we have not seen Ohio State, knowing they're overmatched, get in the field and actually do anything about that.
- 32:59Speaker 1: So I think this is interesting.
- 33:01Speaker 1: This is classic challenger.
- 33:02Speaker 1: This is a challenger and if you remember I think it was two, three years ago Maryland had a chance to beat them.
- 33:07Speaker 1: They lost by one with the two-point conversion, had the guy wide open in the end zone and just missed it.
- 33:12Speaker 2: So there's a little bit of this rivalry and even last year Maryland put up like 30 points and it was.
- 33:19Speaker 2: It was a kind of a shootout and know how state's offense was definitely Clicking and rolling last year, whereas this year, you know, they're still kind of finding their way, whereas Maryland is pretty, on pretty firm footing offensively.
- 33:32Speaker 2: So this one might be a little sneaky spot to throw a little action on on the dog to cover.
- 33:38Speaker 1: I'm.
- 33:38Speaker 1: My eyes are gonna be on the Red River shootout for this one, because that is the game that's you know.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Obviously this is one of the most of your college football fan worth your salt.
- 33:44Speaker 1: Red River rival.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Red River shootout is what it's a must-watch.
- 33:47Speaker 1: It's like the iron bowl.
- 33:48Speaker 1: It's like Michigan, ohio State's must-watch.
- 33:50Speaker 1: But I will have my second TV on Ohio State, maryland.
- 33:54Speaker 1: I'm do following that score.
- 33:55Speaker 1: That game might get interesting.
- 33:57Speaker 1: There's also a world where the game opens up 28, nothing, ohio State, and we just we're not talking.
- 34:01Speaker 1: We're not even gonna talk about next week.
- 34:02Speaker 1: So moving on, I want to talk next about Texas A&M, alabama, alabama's on the road, two and a half point favorites over.
- 34:11Speaker 1: There's 47 point, 47 points.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Texas A&M's gonna win this game.
- 34:15Speaker 1: They're gonna win this game outright.
- 34:17Speaker 2: I saw this one's another juicy one for me too.
- 34:20Speaker 1: I, what I, what I really like.
- 34:22Speaker 1: You know we're talking about tackles for loss.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Texas A&M is up there.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Their defensive line is coming on, which should make this make you and me nervous.
- 34:30Speaker 1: We're both at the face that off defensive line here.
- 34:32Speaker 1: In a couple weeks, um, they're playing at home.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Kyle fields going to be electric.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Did you see that video on Twitter of the all the students lined up to buy tickets?
- 34:41Speaker 1: The second, the Texas A&M Arkansas game, was over.
- 34:44Speaker 1: So there's been guys living intense to get tickets to this game.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Oh, they're already been out there for four days.
- 34:49Speaker 1: They're gonna be out there for three more days.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Um, I Think, I think, I think I am gonna win this game.
- 34:54Speaker 1: I just I mean, if things get weird, it gets loud.
- 34:57Speaker 1: If they've got a pin there, if, if, if, if, miller always got to beat them with his arm and those A&M Defense of linemen can just pin their ears back and go get them.
- 35:07Speaker 1: This is a bad spot for Bama.
- 35:10Speaker 2: It is it's.
- 35:11Speaker 2: It's a scary spot for Bama and you know, playing at home at Kyle Field is no joke and Bama has looked, as we all know, shaky on offense.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Yeah, and this is one where they kind of need to hang around, find their footing early, have nothing go drastically wrong and just kind of make it a grind.
- 35:33Speaker 2: You know, if it's a, if it's a shootout, a&m might pull away.
- 35:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I have a hard time believing this could be a shootout, especially with Max Johnson, former LSU quarterback.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Max Johnson is really capable of a Jekyll and Hyde impersonation.
- 35:45Speaker 1: There were games at LSU where he looked lights out, ice-pulled in the veins, and there was other games where he just looked lost.
- 35:52Speaker 1: This is the kind of game where, if I'm Alabama, I don't know if I want to put it ball.
- 35:57Speaker 1: I want to run the ball a lot.
- 35:59Speaker 1: I want to keep.
- 36:00Speaker 1: I want to come on.
- 36:01Speaker 1: I'm gonna slow this game down.
- 36:03Speaker 1: I don't know if you want Max Johnson to cock back and throw it 40, 50 times to win this game.
- 36:07Speaker 1: No, no, I know.
- 36:09Speaker 1: I mean I love, I love what A&M has out wide.
- 36:12Speaker 1: I they've got playmakers there and there's going to be some big plays for sure.
- 36:16Speaker 1: But just if, if you're, if you're thinking you're gonna put a lot on A&M shoulders and Jimbo's quarterback led offense oftentimes does like that might be a problem, but I just in my that's all said, I like a name to win this game.
- 36:28Speaker 1: I think it went out right.
- 36:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't.
- 36:32Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 36:32Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 36:33Speaker 2: I don't have a great, great read on this one.
- 36:35Speaker 2: I could go either way, but I definitely think A&M is.
- 36:37Speaker 2: That is a scary spot right now if you're Bama.
- 36:42Speaker 1: Yeah, let's keep it rolling.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Kentucky, georgia, georgia to tune to 14 1⁄2 to touchdown favorites against Kentucky.
- 36:50Speaker 1: Kentucky has done exactly what they're supposed to do their 5 and 0.
- 36:53Speaker 1: They've been soundly beating teams.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Devon Leary hasn't looked great, but that defense looks awesome.
- 36:57Speaker 1: That offensive line looks great.
- 36:58Speaker 1: That run game is super good.
- 37:00Speaker 1: This is again.
- 37:02Speaker 1: This is the moment that you know playing at Jordan.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Hair is weird.
- 37:05Speaker 1: They're playing at home in Athens.
- 37:07Speaker 1: This is a game they're supposed to just take care of business.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Or is Kentucky real Kentucky, legit?
- 37:13Speaker 1: How vulnerable is Georgia?
- 37:15Speaker 1: How good is Kentucky?
- 37:16Speaker 1: Challenger champion fight right here.
- 37:19Speaker 1: What do you think?
- 37:21Speaker 2: You're not gonna beat Georgia doing what Georgia does best.
- 37:25Speaker 2: That's my take, and you know Kentucky can play defense, they can run the ball.
- 37:29Speaker 2: If they're gonna win this game, they're gonna have to have an all-star performance from Devon Leary.
- 37:34Speaker 2: They're not gonna go in there and bully the ball.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Georgia and Georgia's got too much on the offensive side with Brock Bowers.
- 37:38Speaker 2: I don't see this one Going Kentucky's way.
- 37:43Speaker 2: I think it it'll probably be pretty close, you know, into the second half, but I still think Georgia wins by like two scores.
- 37:52Speaker 1: So Devon Leary has not played great so far this season.
- 37:54Speaker 1: So you, hey, I think you're totally right.
- 37:56Speaker 1: He's he's gonna need an all-star performance and he has not given us that yet.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Just full stop, it has not been there.
- 38:00Speaker 1: So if he's gonna do it, he's gotta be now, because this is your 5 and 0 SEC East driver seat is on the line at Georgia.
- 38:08Speaker 1: If you're ever going to have a career game that's gonna make you a legend in the state of Kentucky for the rest of your life.
- 38:14Speaker 1: It's this Saturday and he's gonna have it, because, I agree with you, the things Kentucky does well, georgia has has the counter to and they're gonna be ready for, so they're gonna find some other.
- 38:23Speaker 1: What's something other to do?
- 38:24Speaker 1: That that's all I have in terms of the big games.
- 38:28Speaker 1: Any other week, six games you want to talk her on?
- 38:30Speaker 1: Oh, notre Dame at Louisville, louisville, and they haven't played anybody, but they're only they're.
- 38:34Speaker 1: They're less than a touchdown dog.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Six and a half points at home Cardinal Stadium.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Yeah, do you have Louisville a shot to beat Notre Dame here?
- 38:41Speaker 1: No, no.
- 38:46Speaker 2: No, it was a good yeah, they're in a good spot.
- 38:48Speaker 2: They're gonna be one of those teams you look at at the end of the season and they sneak up on you and you know they may be an 8-1 team, but this is not one they get.
- 38:56Speaker 1: So the only thing I have going for Louisville is actually what I have going against Notre Dame.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Notre Dame Got wrenching loss in Ohio State two weeks ago, really put it all on the line.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Crazy win at Duke.
- 39:08Speaker 1: They've got to be exhausted, they've got to be stretched out.
- 39:11Speaker 1: So there is a world where, if Notre Dame doesn't show up to Louisville, louis this is Louisville Super Bowl, this is Louisville's this is again classic challenger.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Title champion Is.
- 39:22Speaker 1: Is there a look ahead?
- 39:23Speaker 1: Is there a Notre Dame trying to sneak walk in there?
- 39:25Speaker 1: If they don't show up to play, I don't think Louisville is very good, they're just good.
- 39:29Speaker 1: The people they've beat are all terrible, but I think playing at home, I think, I think they could they give it, give them a game.
- 39:36Speaker 2: Yeah, you could certainly see let down here.
- 39:39Speaker 1: Yeah, that's, that's.
- 39:39Speaker 1: That is the if.
- 39:40Speaker 1: If Louisville pulls this off, it's because some version Notre Dame didn't get off the bus.
- 39:45Speaker 1: That's my that's my expectation, but I fully expect Notre Dame to get there.
- 39:49Speaker 2: Yeah, that's why college football is so Interesting every week.
- 39:53Speaker 2: I mean, these are college kids, you know they're not professionals and they've got to do it weekend and week out and you can get got yep.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Just like that.
- 40:00Speaker 1: That's all I have in terms of games on weeks other than homers.
- 40:05Speaker 1: You want to talk about any other non-homer games for which?
- 40:07Speaker 2: I know let's.
- 40:07Speaker 2: Let's move on to the homers All right.
- 40:10Speaker 1: Tenancy is on a buy, so you guys are off.
- 40:12Speaker 1: So have, enjoy yourself, have an extra, have a little drink cocktail.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Good, go see the kids hang out.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Lsu is playing at Mizzou.
- 40:18Speaker 1: I'm, as we are, a Seven-point favorite ish.
- 40:22Speaker 1: I'm gonna say it right now Go ahead and lock it up.
- 40:23Speaker 1: Lsu huge bounce back spot.
- 40:26Speaker 1: This is wounded dog mode or gut-wrenching loss at Ole Miss.
- 40:30Speaker 1: The defense has been hearing it all week.
- 40:31Speaker 1: The defense is straight up talented.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Lsu is going to have a big snapback performance.
- 40:37Speaker 1: They're gonna play the game of this season this week, most complete game of season.
- 40:40Speaker 1: I'm willing it to existence.
- 40:42Speaker 1: Here's the thing.
- 40:45Speaker 2: LSU doesn't have to get better on defense.
- 40:50Speaker 1: Oh, we lost you.
- 40:51Speaker 1: We lost you.
- 40:51Speaker 1: All right, picking it back where we are, lsu, I'm saying huge staff back in.
- 40:57Speaker 1: What do you got?
- 40:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:58Speaker 2: LSU doesn't have to get better on on defense to beat Missouri.
- 41:01Speaker 2: They're gonna outscore them.
- 41:02Speaker 2: They've got too much firepower on offense.
- 41:05Speaker 2: Missouri can't keep up.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Their offense has played well, but it's it's.
- 41:08Speaker 2: They're just completely outmatched.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Lsu is gonna run them up and down the field.
- 41:13Speaker 1: The only thing that really gives me pause is Missouri's really quite good performance against K-State at home.
- 41:18Speaker 1: K-state's a good team and they beat them on that 61 yard just incredible field goal.
- 41:23Speaker 1: So they've proven they plan.
- 41:24Speaker 1: But the rest of the schedule is terrible.
- 41:26Speaker 1: Missouri hasn't beaten anybody worth their salt.
- 41:28Speaker 1: But I just I like LSU this what happened last year?
- 41:32Speaker 1: Here's another reason I say so.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Last year LSU opened the season.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Losing to Florida State Happened again this year About week four.
- 41:38Speaker 1: They had a bad loss.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Last year it was your Vols in Baton Rouge, 14-13.
- 41:43Speaker 1: After that LSU played six great weeks of football, including knocking off Florida, ole Miss, the house how soundly beat them and Alabama in that crazy game.
- 41:54Speaker 1: This is the moment, midseason, where we kind of have that snapback and after Missouri, lsu is home for five of the last six games.
- 42:02Speaker 1: So there's a chance where they can.
- 42:03Speaker 1: This can turn on.
- 42:04Speaker 1: This could be the structure football in the B.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Brian Kelly has proven that he can change his team midseason.
- 42:10Speaker 1: He can change personnel, he can make adjustments and the team can grow.
- 42:13Speaker 1: It's still a pretty young team, so I'm hoping that, like last year, tennessee was a wake up call, ole Miss was a wake up call.
- 42:21Speaker 1: Now it's time to turn on and play good LSU football.
- 42:23Speaker 2: So there's a world where LSU plays a great game and normally I would say this might be a tough time for them to go on the road to Columbia, but Missouri has literally maybe the second worst home field advantage of anyone in the SEC.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Number one being Vanderbilt.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Who's?
- 42:44Speaker 1: Obviously construction site.
- 42:45Speaker 2: Yeah, so yeah, I mean that doesn't present a huge challenge going on the road to Missouri.
- 42:52Speaker 2: So, yeah, I love LSU in this spot.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Yeah, whether it's supposed to be nice as well, I mean.
- 42:56Speaker 1: So I'm sorry the rain, just you don't want to go, that you don't want to go to house situation with bad weather, but I was the weather to be nice.
- 43:03Speaker 1: That helps us as well.
- 43:04Speaker 1: Let's keep going.
- 43:05Speaker 1: Uva is hosting William and Mary, one of my alma mater's, hark Upon the Gale.
- 43:09Speaker 1: Look, uva has like three chances that will win this season.
- 43:13Speaker 1: This is one.
- 43:14Speaker 1: This is the best one.
- 43:15Speaker 1: This is it, and I'll see if they lose this one I don't even know about, I don't even know how better they're going to be.
- 43:20Speaker 2: They're not losing this one.
- 43:21Speaker 2: What's the spread?
- 43:22Speaker 2: We can't bet on Virginia teams here in Virginia, but what is?
- 43:25Speaker 1: honestly, I keep looking.
- 43:26Speaker 1: I still haven't seen it.
- 43:27Speaker 1: Let me see if it's posted yet, william and.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Mary is four one and like a number two or three team in FCS and not the other UVA.
- 43:38Speaker 2: Don't lose this game.
- 43:39Speaker 1: They still haven't posted a line.
- 43:40Speaker 1: I don't know what it is, but the ESPN matchup predictor has UVA and 85.9.
- 43:46Speaker 1: This is.
- 43:47Speaker 2: This is the time they've been so close.
- 43:49Speaker 2: They're going to get one here.
- 43:51Speaker 1: After this they've got at North Carolina loss, at Miami loss, Georgia Tech at home winnable.
- 43:56Speaker 1: At Louisville loss versus Duke loss and Virginia Tech Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech are the two other winnable games on their schedule.
- 44:03Speaker 1: So, and if they lose to William and Mary, I don't even think those two are winnable.
- 44:06Speaker 2: So that's okay, don't put that out there.
- 44:08Speaker 1: They're UVA.
- 44:09Speaker 1: You're going to win.
- 44:10Speaker 2: You're going to win this game.
- 44:11Speaker 2: Do it Win first win.
- 44:13Speaker 1: I don't care if it's Calendria or Tony Musket, just you're there's.
- 44:17Speaker 1: This is the one.
- 44:18Speaker 1: This is the one game of the season where UVA is as bad as their offensive line is, they're not overmatched.
- 44:22Speaker 1: Uva's offensive line is better than what William Mary's cowardly defense of line play like it run the ball, be superior and just win the game.
- 44:31Speaker 1: So that's, that's my, that's my.
- 44:33Speaker 1: I'm sorry for my woman.
- 44:34Speaker 1: Mary, proud tribe.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Hark upon the gale.
- 44:37Speaker 1: Still don't know what that means, but what are you going to do?
- 44:39Speaker 1: This hark upon it man?
- 44:40Speaker 1: This hark upon it man?
- 44:41Speaker 1: I think it means listen to the wind.
- 44:42Speaker 1: I think it was written.
- 44:43Speaker 1: It was written like 1703 by a colonial or something.
- 44:45Speaker 1: I still don't know what he was talking about, but it's important that it's like the fight, it's like a fighting call for the fighting tribe.
- 44:50Speaker 1: So what are you going to do?
- 44:52Speaker 1: Virginia Tech, 24 point dogs at Florida State.
- 44:56Speaker 1: Maybe Florida State sleeps, walks to this game.
- 44:59Speaker 1: Maybe they don't show up.
- 45:01Speaker 1: No no, so so I they're not going to win.
- 45:07Speaker 1: I don't, I don't believe they're going to win.
- 45:08Speaker 1: I just at Tallahassee, there is not a game that can win.
- 45:12Speaker 1: But they could cover and they could do some things to challenge them.
- 45:15Speaker 1: If they were going to challenge them, here's what they would do Get Kyron drones on a lot of rollouts, keep him moving, keep him out of the pocket.
- 45:22Speaker 1: Florida State has for as good as they are, for his awesome Jordan Travis is as awesome as wide receivers are.
- 45:27Speaker 1: They have not been great running the ball or defending the run.
- 45:31Speaker 1: That's particularly.
- 45:32Speaker 1: That's not a.
- 45:34Speaker 1: I mean, tri Benson is an is an awesome.
- 45:36Speaker 1: Back hasn't really shown it and I don't know if that's his fault I was off of this line fault.
- 45:41Speaker 1: I'm not sure that Virginia Tech has the personnel to challenge that.
- 45:44Speaker 1: But my point is, if there's a weakness to the Florida State team, it's running the ball and defending the run, which neither of the things they've done at the level at the rest of their team performing at.
- 45:55Speaker 1: I don't know what Virginia Tech is going to do about Keon Coleman and those guys don't enjoy and Travis don't the ball deep.
- 46:00Speaker 1: But there's a world where they can muck it up, control the clock, run the ball, keep the chains moving and really make this a slow, low scoring game.
- 46:10Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, that's the only way that that that Virginia Tech can make this a dogfight is.
- 46:17Speaker 2: They've got to slow it down.
- 46:18Speaker 2: They've got to build on that run game.
- 46:20Speaker 2: They've.
- 46:21Speaker 2: They can't drop back and go against that, that FSU pass rush.
- 46:26Speaker 2: They'll just get eaten alive.
- 46:27Speaker 2: We're talking about, you know, some of the best pass rushers in the country and they've got to get some a couple turnovers on D, you know, maybe some flukey on on special teams and then, yeah, they've got to be able to run the ball Even if it's not working early.
- 46:44Speaker 2: You got to stick to the run and try to slow the game down.
- 46:47Speaker 1: I mean 59 carries against Pitt.
- 46:49Speaker 1: I feel like you know these more of a way to prep for for this one.
- 46:52Speaker 1: Yeah obviously more of that.
- 46:54Speaker 1: Just a little more context.
- 46:56Speaker 1: Florida State is 63rd in the country at Rush defense, which is right smack middle of the country, and they are 74th and Rush offense.
- 47:04Speaker 1: So, like I said, not for what we think Florida State is, I still think Florida State's an excellent team.
- 47:10Speaker 1: That Clemson game didn't convince me otherwise.
- 47:13Speaker 1: Maybe you think higher Clemson?
- 47:14Speaker 1: Frankly, yeah, same for that.
- 47:17Speaker 1: Who for who Florida State is?
- 47:19Speaker 1: I think it'd be better at running the ball and defending the run, and there's not yet.
- 47:23Speaker 1: So maybe Virginia Tech can do some things.
- 47:26Speaker 1: Maybe some counters, some misdirection, halfback toss, get some guys on the outside, some screen, yeah, this is the perfect game for a couple trick plays yeah what do you got to lose?
- 47:36Speaker 1: You know it's, you know just whatever, you, whatever, you got whatever.
- 47:40Speaker 2: And that's kind of a fun spot to be in.
- 47:41Speaker 2: You know you're playing with house money.
- 47:43Speaker 2: The players can get down there play loose.
- 47:45Speaker 2: You're away from home.
- 47:46Speaker 2: Yeah, like just get trying to give yourself a shot late.
- 47:49Speaker 1: I just don't want to Virginia Tech lose by 50.
- 47:51Speaker 1: I don't think they will, because I think I don't think they will.
- 47:53Speaker 1: I think they will, I think.
- 47:54Speaker 1: I think they're going to.
- 47:55Speaker 1: I think they're going to try and slow this game down and do the things that they can do well, and like to see Kyron drones make some plays with his legs, see if they can challenge those guys to play contain, which they've not done.
- 48:04Speaker 1: A great four hits on a great job doing so.
- 48:06Speaker 1: Go Hokies.
- 48:08Speaker 1: That's all I got for week six.
- 48:12Speaker 1: Anything else you want to add.
- 48:14Speaker 2: Good work, good work.
- 48:15Speaker 2: Yeah, let's get into some college football action.
- 48:19Speaker 2: It is Wednesday, now we got football tomorrow.
- 48:22Speaker 1: Oh, fun fact, this is a fun fact.
- 48:24Speaker 1: So today, last year, yesterday there was no, there was no football was actually okay because I was watching playoff baseball.
- 48:28Speaker 1: Anyway, october baseball started off today.
- 48:30Speaker 1: Starting today, there is a college or NFL game every single day for the next 51 days.
- 48:38Speaker 1: So we are on a string now of football, whether it's Mack Wack, tuesday, wednesday stuff, conference, usa, obviously the weekends all football all the time you love to see it.
- 48:49Speaker 2: So very exciting baby 50 straight days of football on television.
